  • Accidental Hero / Accidental Murder: Dee Dee ends up inadvertently saving Dale from Craig killing him by shooting an arrow into Craig's head when she lets go of her bow too soon.
  • Adapted Out: Since Wheezie has her own body in this, Zak, her brother that she's conjoined to in her series doesn’t appear with her.
  • Alternate Self: Several show up:
  • An Arm And Aleg: A Slitherfang fires a laser that slices off one of Crazy Steve's legs, leaving him vulnerable to it.
  • And Here He Comes Now: As Richard's falling through the portal back to Elmore:
    Gumball: "You okay, mom?"
Nicole: "I'll...get through it. For all we know, he probably gotten himself into trouble that'll fix itself in the next five minutes."
Anais: "Uh, mom? Remember what you said about five minutes?"
    Nicole: "Yes, sweetie?"
    Anais: "Try five seconds."
  • Animate Inanimate Object: The only time Rocco does anything is when he somehow manages to get the Smash Ball, with devastating results for several combatants.
  • Animorphism: Dee Dee gets transformed into a pony by a Basky Bug. She's actually ecstatic about this, harkening back to one particular episode where this same thing happened.
  • Apocalypse How: HADES plans to do a Class 6 version of this trope, as part of his Zeroth Law Rebellion style plan.
  • April Fools' Day: In the spirit of this holiday, every character chosen for this month is considered a joke in some way, shape, or form.
  • Arrogant Kung-Fu Guy: Dan Hibiki, as per the norm.
  • Ass Shove: PLUTO attempts to kill Richard by shoving a drill up his ass. It turns out to not be big enough.
  • Atop a Mountain of Corpses: Lightning Dawn sleeps on a pile of destroyed robots at one point.
  • A Twinkle in the Sky: Wheezie goes out this way by a Shoryuken from the TTS Grinch.
    • The pushback from Meg running into Big's stomach sends her flying up the mountain and into the sky. She survives this.
  • Back for the Dead: Bunny gets revived here after her death in the original Powerpuff Girls show, only to wind up dead anyway. To be fair, she DOES last longer than most.
  • Badass Boast: HADES gets one in the final chapter during his fight with Lightning Dawn:
Lightning Dawn: "I can DO this! He’s only a robot! I won't be made a fool of by a mere machine!"
HADES: "CORRECTION: THERE IS NOTHING 'MERE' ABOUT ME."
  • Battle Rapping: Lightning Dawn and AMONG US have a rap battle in the second chapter, with a good portion of the contestants stuck listening to it. It's Juno Song's cover of "Sussus Moogus", but with altered lyrics.
  • Be Careful What You Wish For: Bubsy wishes for a bat to come down and show Carl who Bubsy really is...only for a Deathwing to swoop down, grab him with its talons, and kill him.
  • Because You Were Nice to Me: Likely the only reason Not-Katara didn't subject Leni to her Bloodbending is because Leni complimented her dress. So, downplayed, as it just appealed to her vanity.
  • Belly Flop Crushing: Patrick takes off the tail of a Clawstrider this way.
    • Big attempts to stop PLUTO this way in the final chapter. It doesn't work.
  • Bigfoot, Sasquatch, and Yeti: The Voros Twins mention that they are searching for the 'Sussquatch' in their introductions.
  • Black Comedy Rape: Crazy Steve ends up on the receiving end by Shronk and Big Chungus in Chapter 2.
  • Boom, Headshot!: Craig dies this way from an arrow accidentally shot by Dee Dee.
  • Breaking Old Trends: This is the first Arena where the central antagonist of an Arena isn't one of the actual contestants.
  • Brick Joke: In Chapter 4, The Riddler finds a NFT of his staff and asks "Now who would pay this obscene amount for a measly JPEG?!" Later in the same chapter, Peter Griffin (and in Chapter 6, Dee Dee) end up doing just that.
  • Broke the Rating Scale: Implied this would happen if Baskerra discussed what happened to Sonichu's creator, considering that it has the highest rating a fanfic can get on Ao3 and FurAffinity.
  • The Bus Came Back: Not-Katara returns after her only appearance all the way back in Episode 1.
    • Interestingly, The TTS Grinch, an enemy from Episode 4, returns as well.
  • Buffy Speak: Richard describes HADES killing Lightning Dawn as using a 'big powerful laser thingy'.
  • Butt-Monkey: Several from their respective series show up here. Those that get it the worst in the Arena are Dan Hibiki, Jon Arbuckle, and Carl Wheezer.
  • Call-Back: During Not-Katara's introduction, it's brought up that both her and her universe's Zuko both appeared in an Arena.
  • Captain Ersatz: The Alien X inspiration for Lightning Dawn's Enticorn form does not go unnoticed:
Darwin: "Oh, no! A Ben 10 rip-off! I knew that series was going downhill, but this is terrifying!"
  • Car Fu: After Big Chungus surprises Richard by kissing him, Richard tries to smash Big Chungus with a ruined car, but it doesn't do anything to him.
  • Cassandra Truth: The other Wattersons don't believe that Richard actually has superpowers at first once he comes back.
  • Chuck Cunning Ham Syndrome: Chris Voros quickly disappears after the team introductions, with Patrick Voros having the dialogue for the duration of the twins' run.
  • Cold-Blooded Torture: Not-Katara uses her Bloodbending on Dan and Bubsy to try and get information on where 'her Zuko' is.
  • Comically Missingthe Point: As Mako's examining a Blaze canister thinking it'll taste like cinnamon, Sonichu smashes his head into it and blows his head off. Her response?:
Mako: "...must have been allergic to cinnamon."
  • Continuity Nod: Big mentions that he helped consoled Amy after she found out that Sonic and Knuckles are dating.
  • Crazy Enough to Work: Mako’s solution to defeating a marauding army of skeletons? Throwing mud at them.
Mako: "Quick! Find something edible! Fatten them up so their skin grows back!"
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: Most battles Dan finds himself in end with him on the receiving end.
    • HADES utterly destroys Lightning Dawn in their fight in the last chapter both figuratively and literally.
  • Curse Cut Short: When a bolt of lightning destroys PLUTO, Deavorik lets out a "What the f-" before a bolt destroys him too.
  • Deadpan Snarker: Meg gets a few dry quips in during her stay.
Meg: "Wonder why we haven't tested that theory before."
  • Department of Redundancy Department: Crazy Steve tends to repeat dialogue as part of Frank Miller's writing style. That, and a bad case of Emphasize EVERYTHING:
Crazy Steve: "What a WACKO. Doesn't know what he's talking about. What a WACKO."
  • Destructive Saviour: The fight between Richard, HADES, PLUTO, and Deavorik gets a good chunk of Elmore destroyed.
  • Diabolus ex Nihilo: One of the tiles for the final chapter is "Diabolus Ex Machina", adding a pun with the opposite trope.
  • Die or Fly: Richard eventually comes to the conclusion that his powers only activate whenever he's in danger.
  • Digging to China: Snowflame convinces Dee Dee to do this by telling her that's where the ponies are.
  • Disney Villain Death: SCP-999 tickling Robbie Rotten causes the both of them to fall through a hole in the woods. SCP-999 would live, but not much longer than Robbie Rotten.
  • Disappointed by the Motive: Richard is less than impressed by HADES' backstory and plan:
Richard: "THAT'S IT? 'Oooh, look at me, I'm so powerful, now I'm going to destroy everything'! That’s the lamest villain origin story I've ever heard!"
  • Driven to Suicide: After Sonichu witnesses Carl riding Rand's dick, he decides he can’t take it anymore and blows his head off with a Blaze canister.
  • Double Take: Coldsteel and CDI-Ganon have one after Sonichu says that homosexuals aren't real people.
  • Do You Want to Copulate?: Meg attempts to sleep with Dan when she believes they're all going to die. Unfortunately, Dan rejects her since he believes that Juri's into him.
  • Dropped a Bridge on Him: Grieve-Tan gets impaled with some shrapnel by Not-Katara and Leni gets blown to pieces by some plasma fired by a Slaughterspine at the start of the Arena.
  • Dumb Blonde: Dee Dee, Leni Loud, and the Voros Twins are this.
  • Early-Bird Cameo: Lightning Dawn's appearance here is one for Starfleet and Equestria before they would get their own Side-Story.
  • Eaten Alive: Several characters suffer this fate, whether it be from a Cock Demon or from a mechanical beast.
  • Epic Fail: Dan SOMEHOW loses to Gary the Snail.
  • Everyone Has Standards: Baskerra absolutely REFUSES to do anything lewd involving Caite.
That's Sick and Wrong in a multitude of ways. I know what I signed up for, but I ain't indulging in that.
  • Evil Is Petty: Robbie Rotten fights Richard over the title of being the laziest man.
  • Faint in Shock: Anais does this when the sight of Richard turning into Zetton becomes too much for her.
  • Fate Worse than Death: Those that get sucked up by Brazil's vortex are stated to suffer this.
    • HADES' biggest fear is that he will be forgotten. Unfortunately for him, he gets sucked into The Void, where he will be completely forgotten by everything and everyone.
  • Flanderization: As in the first episode of the Arena, all Not-Katara cares about is finding 'her Zuko' and is more than willing to use violent means to get what she wants.
  • Flechette Storm: Peter kills Patrick Star by throwing several pieces of metal into him.
  • Grievous Harm with a Body: Richard uses Ms. Simian as an improvised sword against Deavorik’s claw-hand in the last chapter.
  • Gallows Humor: Darwin's response after seeing the junkyard (and Lightning Dawn) get eradicated?
'Darwin: "That's...one way to handle a garbage problem."
  • Groin Attack: Dee Dee kicks Dan in the nads when he challenges her to a fight.
  • Half the Man He Used to Be: Not-Katara gets bisected by two of the Thunderjaw's lasers.
  • Head Crushing: Bubsy dies when the Deathclaw's talons crush his head.
  • History Repeats:
  • Heh Heh, You Said "X": When the Voros Brothers are discussing on where the Sussquatch could be:
Chris: "Maybe it’s in that tunnel?"
    Patrick: "Heh! You said tunnel!"
  • Hope Spot: When Robbie Rotten and SCP-999 fall into a hole in Chapter 4, SCP-999 was confirmed to have survived...only for the next chapter to reveal that it fell into some cocaine (which is lethal to the substance) and is killed by Snowflame.
    • As Numbuh 3's climbing on Rocco, she notices a hole in the barrier that's trapping them. Unfortunately, Lightning's Uniforce beam blows her and Rocco up before she can escape.
  • How Do I Shot Web?: Richard has trouble actually getting his newfound superpowers to work at first. He slowly gets the hang of it.
  • I Know Your True Name: Once Richard starts getting his superpowers, a voice starts slowly spelling out a name and telling Richard to remember his past in his sleep. The name doesn't get fully spelt out until the final chapter when Richard transforms into the being the name belongs to: Zetton.
  • I'm a Humanitarian: Discussed between the Griffins when talking about their emergency rations:
Meg: "You made me the LITERAL emergency rations?!"
Peter: "I said it would work both ways. Read the fine print!"
  • I'm Melting!: The TTS Grinch dies from the Birdemic's acidic vomit.
  • Impaled With Extremeprejudice: Not-Katara kills Grieve-Tan by shoving a trident-shaped piece of metal into her.
    • Lightning Dawn gets stabbed by HADES' sword, the Banisher. It doesn't kill him, but it distracts him long enough for HADES' Mortis Spark beam to finish him off.
  • In Name Only: Crazy Steve gets called the Batman-In-Name-Only in the second chapter.
  • Insane Troll Logic: While Mako has several moments of these, her 'plan' to get out of the Arena by killing Rand Marks takes the cake:
Mako: "If I'm to get home, I need a set of magic shoes! Since dinosaurs are magical because their bones still persist to the modern day, I just need to make shoes out of you while saying 'there’s no place like home!'"
  • Jaw Drop: The Wattersons have this reaction after HADES obliterates the junkyard and a good section of the area around it.
  • Joke Character: ALL of the characters chosen for this are this in some shape or form.
  • Kick the Dog: Snowflame kills SCP-999 when it tries to escape because the creature reacted badly to cocaine.
  • Killed Off for Real: Episode 18 reveals that Baskerra refused to bring Crazy Steve back to life after he died, making him one of the few contestants to explicitly stay dead, despite canon saying otherwise.
  • Killed Mid-Sentence: As Patrick Voros is telling Dee Dee’s Mom to run, they get killed by a combination of a Fireclaw and a Frostclaw.
    • Katara gets killed by a Thunderjaw as she's talking about needing to see 'her Zuko'.
  • Killed Offscreen: King Dedede, in between the first two chapters by a Deathwing.
  • Kill It with Fire: A Fire Bellowback burns Coldsteel to death and Big Chungus dies when a Death Bringer fires a stream of fire at him.
  • Knight of Cerebus: While all of the contestants are meant to be Played for Laughs in some capacity, the machines from Horizon Zero Dawn most definitely AREN’T. And that's not even getting into when HADES joins the fray, fully upgraded...
  • Know When to Fold 'Em: After Dan witnesses Jon get torn apart by a Snapmaw, the fighter wisely decides to flee.
  • Laughably Evil: Robbie Rotten falls into this out of the other ones usually guilty of this trope.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: After The Riddler mocks the concept of buying NFTs, some Crypto-Bros later in the night beat him to death.
  • Look Behind You: When Jon and Gary get confronted by Lightning Dawn, Jon tricks Lightning by telling him that there’s a Tommy-Gun wielding dragon behind him, which gives Jon and Gary time to escape.
  • Medium Awareness: Mako decides that she needs to do a Training Montage. But in order to speed up the process, she switches the scene over to Jon, Gary, and Catie.
  • Mirthless Laughter: The Annoying Orange does this after making puns over several horrific events that he witnessed. It's eventually reduced to broken tears.
  • Mood Whiplash: During the fifth night, Dan's cooing over a sleeping Catie...only for a Snapmaw to emerge and eat her, leaving the poor guy in shock.
  • Mythology Gag: Dan managing to tap into the Satsui no Hado, only to get knocked out of it when he trips on something.
  • New Powers as the Plot Demands: Richard unlocks new powers over the course of the story, usually when it would be the most helpful to have that power. Turns out, those powers aren't random, as they build up to The Reveal of whom he truly is.
  • No Body Left Behind: Several characters have their bodies get obliterated as they die, either by being eaten by a mechanical beast, or by a powerful attack that completely eradicates the body.
  • Noodle Incident: How Dee Dee managed to reduce parts of the Forge to rubble just by pressing a button.
  • Oh, Crap!: The unintelligible head of the Ogre has this reaction when Rocco turns into a mountain and is about to land on him.
  • Offscreen Moment of Awesome: How Dan managed to fend off a pack of Stalkers is left unexplained.
  • Off with His Head!: The Voros Twins and Dee Dee’s Mom lose theirs when Tetsuya wakes up a Frostclaw and a Fireclaw in a cave.
  • One-Steve Limit: Patrick Voros has the same first name as Patrick Star, not helping is that Patrick Voros is the twin the story gives dialogue to. However, the Voros Twins die shortly in the story, so it doesn't get confusing for long.
  • One-Word Vocabulary: The only phrase Coldsteel says throughout his entire stay is "Nothing personnel kid!"
  • O.O.C. Is Serious Business: The sight of the TTS Grinch is enough for Not-Katara to stop thinking about her Zuko.
  • Past-Life Memories: Once Richard starts getting superpowers, hints of his past life start popping up in his mind. It doesn’t become clear who he was until the final chapter, where he turns into Zetton.
  • Pet the Dog: AMOUNGUS covers The Annoying Orange's ears during a very loud singing match between Brazil and Gary.
  • Pokémon Speak: Puppymonkeybaby can only say its own name.
    • Once Richard transforms into Zetton, he speaks only his new/original name, true to form.
  • Precision F-Strike: Two of them:
  • Protagonist Title Fallacy: An Impostor from Among Us is called AMONGUS in this Arena.
  • Pun: One of the more recurring lines that Shronk says is "It's all ogre now".
    • Deavorik has one that's crossed with a Premortem One Liner:
Deavorik: "You think you're funny?! Well, I have a joke! You know how I’m going to use you?!"
      Meg: "Nnngh...what?"
      Deavorik: "A MEGA-TON PUNCH!"
  • Punch Catch: Richard to Deavorik when he finally cuts loose with his power.
  • Pungeon Master: The Annoying Orange makes a LOT of these, though he laughs at them less and less as the story goes on.
  • Purple Is Powerful: What Mako believes, which she mentions when she sees the Slaughterspine fire its plasma during the Bloodbath.
  • Reference Overdosed: What Bubsy's attempts to intimidate Dan consist of:
    • There are a LOT of references to lines and scenes from several series that made it to Meme status.
  • Ret-Gone: HADES's fate after he gets sucked into The Void.
  • The Reveal: Richard Watterson and the famous Ultraman monster, Zetton, are one and the same, with the rabbit being a new incarnation of the beast. Even more galling, his true form is Hyper Zetton!
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: Robbie Rotten decides to run away from CDI-Ganon after he wants Robbie to sleep with him.
    • When Tetsuya, Patrick Star, and Sonichu get attacked by a Grimhorn in Chapter 3, Tetsuya says and attempts this, only to get incinerated when two of the Grimhorn’s fireballs crash into him.
  • Sequel Hook: Richard/Zetton leaves his family behind to get answers about whether Richard or Zetton is the fake personality from the only person that really knows: His mother.
  • Shout-Out: When Peter, Carl, and the Ogre are faced with Clawstriders, Peter attempts to pacify them by channeling his inner Chris Pratt from a movie he saw once. It doesn't work.
  • Skewed Priorities: Dee Dee's Mom is more concerned about how messy the Arena is than the mechanical beasts that are terrorizing the contestants.
  • Spell My Name With An S: Rocco is spelt as 'Roc'k'o' in this.
    • Leni is spelt with two n's in the Current Dead portion of the notes at the end of each chapter, despite her name being spelt correctly in the first chapter.
  • Squashed Flat: How several contestants die: Zoidberg is the first to die this way by a Rollerback.
    • Puppymonkeybaby gets stepped on by the TTS Grinch.
    • The Ogre and Shronk get crushed by Rocco after it uses the Smash Ball to grow into a mountain and lands on them.
    • Dale gets runned over flat by the rolling body of Rand Marks.
    • Mako gets trampled by a horde of Bristlebacks, leaving a comedic tombstone where her body was.
    • The Annoying Orange gets stomped on by a Grimhorn.
  • Stop Hitting Yourself: Not-Katara uses her Bloodbending to have Dan punch himself in the face.
  • Stopped Caring: Mr. Robinson has this reaction as the fight between Richard and HADES causes his house to get completely leveled.
Mr. Robinson: "Just let it happen."
  • Surrounded by Idiots: The Riddler and Lightning Dawn have this sentiment about those who they're stuck with. They're not entirely wrong about this.
  • Take That!: During Bunny's introduction:
(Talking about Bunny): "The more talkative of the group was the slightly malformed result of what happened when the famed Cartoon Network heroes, the Powerpuff Girls (before they were put through the wringer in 2016) tried to make another sibling."
    • Sonichu gets mocked for his homophobia and what his creator has done in real life.
    • All-Star Batman and Robin and How I Became Yours are criticized for how badly it makes its main characters act completely OOC from its source material.
    • NFTs are called a grift that damages the environment and those that do spend money on them lose MILLIONS of dollars.
  • Taking You with Me: Adorabat fires her laser-leg at max power while she's in the Deathclaw's jaw, causing them to both blow up.
    • A Deathbringer ends up taking Big Chungus out with its flame weapon as it dies.

    • When a Deathclaw catches Bubsy with its talons, Bubsy says "This...isn't a bad thing! I mean, what could possibly go wrong?" only for the talons to crush Bubsy's head.
  • Terrible Trio: HADES, PLUTO, and Deavorik become this in the last chapter, with HADES as the leader and PLUTO and Deavorik as the henchmen.
  • That's What She Said: Richard says this after PLUTO's shocked that its drill arm isn't big enough to kill him.
  • Transformation Horror: Snowflame has one of these when his attempt to use his cum as meth backfires on him.

  • They Killed Kenny Again: Not-Katara gets killed by the Thunderjaw's lasers.
  • This Is Gonna Suck: Robbie Rotten has this reaction after Sonichu makes a homophobic remark about him.
Robbie Rotten: "...I'm not going to enjoy working with you, aren't I? Why do I always get the worst teammates?!"
    • Dan whimpers out an "Oh, MAN" before he's killed by the Behemoth.
  • Torso with a View: Big dies this way when PLUTO's Drill Beam goes through his stomach.
  • Tranquil Fury: Richard's state of mind when he gets serious against HADES, Deavorik, and PLUTO.
  • We ARE Struggling Together: A few teams (Primarily A Fan's and Eboness the Eternal's) end up arguing and fighting with each other, mostly due to either their egos and/or lack of mental stability.
  • Wham Episode: Aside from Richard's reveal as none other than Zetton, the fight between him and HADES gets so violent that the resulting clash they have is implied to have caused instability in the space/time continuum, causing more portals to open up OUTSIDE of the Arena!
  • Wins by Doing Absolutely Nothing: Rexy nearly pulls this off by lazing around and sleeping through most of the Arena.
  • When All You Have Is a Hammer…: In a last-ditch effort to save his dad, Gumball throws a stone into HADES. All that does is put a dent into HADES and Gumball sent flying into a streetlamp.
