Originally a human from Earth, but reincarnated as a Demon Lord and bound to a dungeon.

• Accidental Marriage: To Illuna. He was unaware that letting her drink his blood is a sacred marriage covenant among the vampire race, until Leficious spells it out for him much later. Illuna, who asked permission, did know, but refused to enlighten him...
• Accidental Pervert: Teleporting home from the Demon Kingdom, he comes face to face with Nell, topless, because she's changing in his throne room, a public place. Awkward doesn't even begin to cover the aftermath.
• Achievements in Ignorance: Most of his accomplishments are a direct result of a lucky (or unlucky) accident.
• Anything but That!: He is terrified of swarms of large bugs, and it's justified. Although he can easily beat any of the bugs of Haunted Forest in a one on one fight, or even when considerably outnumbered, these bugs terrify him because of their single-minded dedication to eliminate him on each and every encounter, and just keep coming until either something else catches their attention, or their entire nest is destroyed, caring not a whit about how many of their kin they have to sacrifice in the process.
• Awesome by Analysis: Played with. While he does occasionally have keen insight regarding his abilities and environment, his successes and failures are either due to having things explained to him or the result of pure accident. The best straight example is during his first encounter with Leficious, where he could smell honey on her breath, so he inferred that she had a powerful sweet tooth and he could use chocolate to persuade her not to attack him for trespassing in her territory.
• Badass Pacifist: He prefers the peaceful solution whenever possible, as he hates gore and bloodshed. Provoke him, and consider yourself lucky if there's enough left of you to bury.
• Bathtub Bonding: When he fashions a spa, both Illuna and Leficious barge in on him and join him in its use.
• Berserk Button: Even if he's well aware that she can defend herself just fine, so much as the threat of harm to one of the ladies in his sphere of influence will make him flip his shit. This goes doubly so for Illuna. The last time some yahoos threatened her, he was only stopped from utterly annihilating the city where it occurred by Leficious pinning him to the ground and making him stop with a Cooldown Hug.
  • If you're a pervert who gets off on brutalizing little kids, keep it to yourself when he's around, because if he catches you in the act, he will see red and kill you.
• Big Brother Instinct: Mess with Illuna, and your life is forfeit.
• Bodyguarding a Badass: Though no slouch himself, anybody who threatens Lefi will get him angry enough to go totally postal on the threat.
• Born Unlucky: At level 1, all of his stats are 500+ except his luck, which is 70. Everybody else has better luck than that, including a slime he summons.
• Bullying a Dragon: It doesn't take long, after Leficious moves into his home, that he starts treating her like a Bratty Half-Pint. She lets him do it because she finds it amusing.
• Combat Pragmatist: It doesn't happen often, but when he faces someone stronger, more skilled, or both, he won't hesitate to fight dirty.
• Contagious Heroism: Though he adamantly insists that he's not a "hero" and doesn't want to be known as one, his heroic virtues will rub off on you if you're around him long enough.
• Dark Is Not Evil: He's a Demon Lord, loves to decorate everything from his weapons and clothes to his buildings in dark, especially jet-black colors, and is an inherently good and noble individual.
• Deliberate Injury Gambit: In chapter 102, he takes a sword strike to his arm to avoid one to his head. While the sword is stuck, he uses his other arm to deal a fatal blow.
• Dramatic Irony: Nell, the human "Hero", trained from a very young age to fight Demon Lords, sees Yuki, The Demon Lord, as the perfect template upon which to model her idea of heroics. Many people lampshade this, though Yuki himself remains unaware.
• Fantastic Arousal: He learns that his demon's wings are erogenous zones when Leficious starts to rub them...
• Fish out of Water: It takes him a great deal of time and effort to learn how to live in this new world.
• Flat-Earth Atheist: Played with. While he was an Atheist on Earth, as he mentions in chapter 93, the moment he sets foot in a church "safe house" where the goddess is worshiped, and feels all the holy magic involved in the murals, he not only looks on in awe, but is quite willing to accept that said goddess might actually exist.
• Friend to All Children: As is revealed in chapters 94 and 95, while visiting an orphanage run by the same church that raised Nell, the children absolutely adore him, especially when he roleplays "The Demon Lord". The fact that he shared the meat of monsters he hunted earlier for them during a famine deliberately instigated by Prince Ryuit in his bid for power didn't hurt.
• Genre Savvy: To the point of Leaning on the Fourth Wall. He was an avid troper in his life on Earth, and speaks of tropes all the time concerning his situation, to the confusion of those around him.
• Good Cannot Comprehend Evil: Downplayed. He can understand that criminals are scum. He can comprehend why knights under Prince Ryuit would try to provoke the church so he can publicly brand them rebels and hunt them down, but when said "knights" draw a sword and attempt to strike down a hungry orphan child for the "crime" of accidentally bumping into them with the very stew they're trying to confiscate, Yuki is offended into attacking.
• Good Feels Good: He does heroic things because he enjoys it.
• Good Is Not Nice: He's actually not that bad by western standards. But the standards of Japan, where the story is written, he's supposed to be extremely rude, crude, vulgar, and "an internet pedophile," even if he is actually quite decent and kind in person.
• Good Is Not Soft: If he's given just cause to anger and violence, he will respond with maximum force and brutality, and he won't stop until the target(s) of his rage are Ludicrous Gibs, if they're lucky.
• Hair-Trigger Temper: Subtle, but present. Yuki is usually really fun to be around, but he has a very low "asshole threshold." While he will sincerely strive to get along with others, if you're the kind of dork who likes to go around looking for trouble, throw your weight around, give people grief to amuse yourself, or refuse to be "satisfied" unless you have responded to any offense against you, real, imagined, or entirely accidental, with violence, he will completely flip his shit, even if he's the one at fault, and do whatever it takes to beat you down.
• Hero with Bad Publicity: As a Demon Lord, he certainly inherited a bad reputation, but he is a good and noble character, and if you don't intentionally antagonize him, you've got nothing to worry about.
• Hot-Blooded: He throws his entire passion into everything he does, to wild and unpredictable effect.
• Humans Are Insects: When he's asked why he was giving an invading human army fair warning instead of simply slaughtering them, he equated the humans to insects. In truth, he thinks the invading human army was weaker than insects, and when comparing to the insects in Haunted Forest, he's right.
• Ideal Hero: Though he would adamantly insist otherwise, he is this. He acts in a heroic manner, purely for its own sake, not because he's expecting a reward, although he certainly wouldn't turn a reward down, and does act heroically because he enjoys doing so, or benefits from it.
• Ignorant of His Own Ignorance: From the other end. Not only is he so powerful that he has problems relating to the "common sense" of this new world, but for most of volume 1, his entire basis for comparison is the one being even stronger than himself, the Supreme Dragon Leficious.
• I'm Not a Hero, I'm...: He hates "heroes", especially those who boast of their selflessness, and pointedly does not want to be one.
• I Warned You: When a hodge-podge army of mercenaries and various "noble" houses intrudes in his territory, seeking to "avenge their country's honor" as a direct result of him hunting down a slaver cartel, to rescue Illuna, while said cartel was operating (illegally) in their country, he goes to what he thinks is the top commander and warns him. Said commander warned his superiors, but was ignored. The warned commander wisely withdrew his squad. That squad survived. The rest? They got to help Yuki test out his new dungeon traps.
• Kirk Summation: To Nell, an official "Hero" of the human kingdom. With just a couple of well phrased sentences, he made her realize her actions were hardly heroic, and she was just an Unwitting Pawn. She gets better.

• Magic Eye: As a result of being a demon lord, he has a red eye that allows him to check the Dungeon "menu" at any time. He can also see the flow of magic, letting him predict an enemy's spells before they even finish casting.
• Manchild: He may look like a full-grown adult, but he has a very childish temperament. This is the aspect of his character Lefi loves and is annoyed by the most. It's also what makes him beloved by children as he can relate to them.
• Mistaken for Pedophile: All the time. Leficious only looks like a pre-teen, but is Really 700 Years Old, and due to a cultural misunderstanding he's accidentally married to Illuna who actually is a pre-teen.
• Morality Chain: His very existence is the primary reason Leficious isn't currently going on rampages to slake her boredom.
• Mundane Utility: Remember that majestic castle? In times of peace, it's a massive theme park where the kids living in his dungeon can laugh and play, without a care in the world.
• The Nicknamer: He's fond of giving people amusing little nicknames in his head. He's not above making profane and vulgar nick-names for people he does not like. A certain black dragon gets the dubious honor of "Douche-lord."
• One-Man Army: Thinking he's entirely reliant on his dungeon to deal with armies is a suicidal mistake. A group of mass-murdering fiends that were attacking the winged demon clan, including the women and helpless children, and threatened Nell with rape, dismemberment, and death, ran across him. The moment Nell's unconscious form was sent off to safety... the aftermath was so horrific, the survivors slit their own throats in abject despair, save one, the leader, who wound up questioned by Yuki.
• Right for the Wrong Reasons: After he's spent days designing the perfect castle, purely to awe the world with his magnificence as a Demon Lord, and then invested a massive amount of DP to actually build it, it proves way too large and unwieldy to actually live in. In any other time and place, this would have been a monumental boondoggle. In this story? It proves the perfect decoy, because armies, enemy scouts, and adventurers would presume that the Demon Lord, and his treasures, would be inside. As showcased when Nell invades the dungeon...
• Roaring Rampage of Rescue: When he chases down Illuna's scent, tracking her back to the slaver cartel who kidnapped her, said cartel foolishly attacked him. Say hello to a pile of corpses and entrails splashed on the walls.
• Rule of Cool: In universe. He does strange (and often impractical) things because he's fascinated with projecting a "cool" image of himself.
• Secretly Selfish: Although he would adamantly insist otherwise, he is heroic in word, act, and mindset, but he internally admits that he does heroic things purely because he either benefits from doing so or actively enjoys it. This does not stop him from being an Ideal Hero.
• Showy Invincible Hero: Invoked. Not only is it extremely gratifying to watch him obliterate armies of enemies like they're nothing, he goes out of his way to make sure this is the case.
• Sudden Game Interface: Discussed, Invoked, and Lampshaded. When he touches the dungeon-core, it scans his mind and tools a "menu" interface styled off the RPG games he's familiar with. He's then forced to see the world that way, especially when he uses the newly acquired "analysis" skill.
• Tastes Like Friendship: He "tames" Leficious, the Supreme Dragon, by offering her chocolate and other sweets that wouldn't otherwise be obtainable in this world.
• The Unfettered: He lives by his own rules, on his own schedule, and only does things, or listens to people, that he wants to.
• Unskilled, but Strong: Being a demon-lord, he can, and does, overpower most of his foes with sheer brute force. He's trying to become Strong and Skilled so that he doesn't get overwhelmed by those who can gobsmack him with pure skill.
• Unstoppable Rage: Yuki is usually pretty chill. When he gets pissed, he gets pissed, and he won't stop until he's physically restrained, or his targets are dead.
• What's Up, King Dude?: Yuki cares not a whit about official titles or ranks. His opening greeting to the king of Alyssa is the trope, by name. The fact that he's a friendly Demon Lord, and there are few who could fight him on equal footing, and fewer still who would want to, helps him get away with it.
• Weirdness Magnet: There is never a dull moment around him. Not only because he's prone to getting into fights, but because he as almost no concept of the local "common sense." The ladies in his life actually appreciate this as much as it also annoys them.
• Wild Card: Despite being an Ideal Hero, he's not going to intervene in affairs that don't directly impact him. For example, the ongoing human/beast-kin war. Either army tries to pass through his territory? The other side just won itself a powerful ally.
• Would Not Hit a Girl: Slapstick on Leficious aside, he prefers to avoid hurting women, but if she's a serious threat and refuses to stand down... so be it.
• Would Not Hurt A Child: While it has yet to crop up much, seeing how remote his dungeon is, he does not like hurting children, and if he finds those who do, he tends to be quite... upset.
• You Are What You Hate: He loathes heroes to the point of revulsion, seeing himself as a Villain Protagonist. Paradoxically, this is the trait that keeps him as an Ideal Hero... Which his internal dialog states is the kind that disgusts him most.

The very first being Yuki meets in the new world.

• Because You Were Nice to Me: The reason she dotes on Yuki and lets him smack her upside the head when she throws tantrums? He treats her like an equal and genuinely praises her honestly.
• Big Eater: If left to her own devices, she would eat a week's worth of food for two people in a single sitting. And that's after transforming into her small humanoid body...
• Bratty Half-Pint: She may be a millennia-old dragon, but she behaves like a spoiled middle-schooler, apparently because she didn't socialize much before meeting Yuki.
• Disproportionate Retribution: Annoy her, and a wing of 100 dragons will descend on your city, if she's feeling generous...
• Fantastic Arousal: Her dragon wings are every bit the erogenous zone that Yuki's demon wings are, as she discovers when Yuki starts fondling hers as she's fondling his...
• Friendly Address Privileges: She allows those close to her, like Yuki, to call her Lefy.
• Godzilla Threshold: While she could easily devastate the royal capital, especially The Evil Prince who keeps harassing and threatening him, Yuki is loathe to ask her to do it, because she's so powerful she lacks the fine control to keep from leveling the country in its entirety, by accident.

• Hidden Depths: While she may seem all but worthless as a Dungeon resident, outside her unwitting DP contribution, truth be told, she's an excellent mother and mentor, as Illuna and Yuki will happily testify, respectively.
• It Amused Me: The reason she goes on rampages, stomping demon lords, dungeons, and human cities flat? She's bored and wants amusement.
• Lazy Bum: Unless she's being actively entertained, she prefers to just loaf around.
• Lethal Chef: Justified. It's not a lack of knowledge or talent that's keeping her from being able to cook. Nor is it a lack of effort. It's Power Incontinence. She has so much raw strength, even in her humanoid form, that she simply can't exert the proper fine muscle control to combine ingredients properly, nor even use a cooking instrument. She spent an entire night trying, and failing, to cook anything presentable, and ultimately wound up with "cookies" that looked and tasted awful. Yuki still accepted and ate them, with gratitude, just to show he cares.
• Little Bit Beastly: If not for her horns and tail, she could easily pass for a human girl. She can actually hide those parts if she wants to visit a human city, but it doesn't feel right to her.
• Naked First Impression: She starts the story nude. As a dragon, this isn't an issue for Yuki. When she adopts a pre-teen human form...
• Person of Mass Destruction: Even in her humanoid form, she can level countries, and easily smack down Yuki if she ever feels the need for violence.
• Phlebotinum Battery: The only reason she avoids Pretty Freeloader status is that her very existence in Yuki's dungeon provides a large amount of DP (dungeon points) that he can basically use like currency to create food, items, monsters, etc. She does, however, slowly begin to help out with chores as the story progresses. And later in the story, she isn't a Phlebotinum Battery anymore because she officially became part of Yuki's family through marriage.
• Power Incontinence: Her power level is so great, that when she aids Nell to deal with a Zombie Apocalypse, her weakest spells destroyed two houses, one by fire, and the other by flood.
• Property of Love: While she hates Yuki's "Tamer of the Supreme Dragon" title, she openly admits in chapter 65 of the light novel that she loves it when he called her "his woman," in chapter 64 of the light novel after a gang of thugs proclaimed their intent to gang-rape and murder her, and stated that the law would do nothing about it because she's not human...
• Relationship Upgrade: In chapter 133, she marries Yuki with a Sacred First Kiss. The squeeing was so loud, the fourth wall broke from both sides! Another relationship upgrade happens when it was confirmed in chapter 402 that she is pregnant with Yuki's child.
• Shameless Fanservice Girl: She openly flaunts her naked body in front of Yuki, and when he loans her his shirt to cover herself, she teases him about "attacking her because of her beauty." She also sees nothing wrong with barging in on him when he's bathing.

• Sore Loser: If she's beaten in a contest, game, or anything, she will force rematches until she's either victorious or collapses from exhaustion, whichever comes first.
• Sweet Tooth: Her Fatal Flaw. The fact that Yuki feeds her common Earth sweets, which she can't get anywhere else, is the primary reason she decided to be submissive to him.
• Top Wife: In chapter 181, she informs Yuki of two very important facts. 1.) Polygamy is the law of the land in this new world. 2.) She will decide who else Yuki's going to marry, and lay down the ground rules, and infidelity will not go unpunished. Since she's the Supreme Dragon, Yuki can only meekly nod his head, covered in nervous sweat.
• Voluntary Shapeshifting: She can assume either her dragon or humanoid form at will. She chooses to remain humanoid for convenience in Yuki's dungeon, but she can make herself look fully human if she wants to visit a human city.
• Ye Olde Butchered English: How she speaks to display her "superiority" to others. It fades as she grows more and more comfortable in Yuki's home.

The first monster Yuki summoned.

• Good Thing You Can Heal: Upon being summoned, she lunged at a level 21 cerberus, and got swatted into a wall. She was perfectly fine a few minutes later, but Yuki decided to keep her out of trouble after that.
• Like Brother and Sister: Once able to take on Illuna's appearance, the two laugh and play as if they're twin sisters who have lived together all their lives, and it's absolutely adorable.
• No Biological Sex: Slimes don't have genders, but she identifies as female because she's copying Illuna, aside from being blue and translucent.
• The Silent Bob: Yuki can somehow understand her perfectly, despite the fact that she has no speaking lines, at all.
• Suddenly Voiced: Yuki comes home from a multiple-day "date" with Lefi in the nearby town to find she's taken on Illuna's appearance, aside from being blue and translucent, and able to speak fluently.
• Team Pet: Her primary role in the story.
• Voluntary Shapeshifting: Through means not fully understood, she learns to take on Illuna's form, aside from being blue and translucent.

• Accidental Marriage: Averted. She certainly knew that asking for Yuki's blood was a marriage ritual, but never told him.
• Be Careful What You Wish For: She pleads with Yuki to free some fellow slaves from the slaver cartel that kidnapped her. Two of those female slaves wind up moving in...
• Break the Cutie: A human slaver ring tried, repeatedly. They annoyed both Yuki and Lefy in the process.
• Cheerful Child: When treated kindly, she's a very sweet and upbeat child.
• Children Are Innocent: While she does know that drinking someone's blood is a sacred marriage ritual, she doesn't comprehend what marriage is, and is in all other respects a sweet and innocent child without a trace of malice in her entire body.
• The Cutie: She's adorable on both sides of the fourth wall.
• Deceased Parents Are the Best: Her parents died fighting, in order to give her a chance to escape genocidal humans looking to kill or enslave her entire village.
• Doomed Home Town: She is the Last of Her Kind as her home village was wiped out by humans.
• Fantastic Racism: Defied. She should hate all humans without exception, but she doesn't. She even goes and mingles with a human "hero" and turns on Yuki for "bullying" her, after she tried to break into his home to kill him.
• Hair of Gold, Heart of Gold: Blonde, and sweet all over.
• Happily Adopted: Though she calls Yuki and Lefy "Big Brother" and "Big Sister" respectively, she's aware she's not related to them by blood, but she's very, very happy in their home.
• Our Vampires Are Different: Aside from drinking blood once a week, one would never know she's a vampire.
• Wise Beyond Her Years: Despite being 8 years old, tops, she knows better than to foolishly flail around against her kidnappers, or foolishly risk her life attacking them, instead biding her time until she can escape, and keeps her methods secret...

Monster summoned by Illuna from a gacha.

• Animal Companion: His role in the story.
• Fluffy the Terrible: His name essentially translates to Fluffy and he is one of the strongest creatures in the setting.
• I Was Just Passing Through: At one point, he rescues a band of adventurers, that were rightly investigating the cause of a monster swarm headed to their home town, by attacking and killing the monster bearing down on them, because he happened to be hunting it, barely casting the adventurers a glance in the process. The adventurers in question wisely leave him alone, especially once they notice his collar...
• Undying Loyalty: He will serve Yuki, and the residents of the Yuki dungeon, no ifs ands or buts.

Leila

Race: Horned-sheep Demon.

One of two slaves rescued by Yuki who decided to stay in his dungeon, claiming it's because she wants to serve him to repay him for rescuing her.

• Bookworm: Reading is her favorite leisure activity.
• Famed In-Story: When agents from the Demon King faction call on Yuki and see she's his maid, they're stunned, and indicate she's a celebrity in Demon lands.
• For Science!: The real reason she serves Yuki is that she sees it as a golden opportunity to study a Demon Lord, up close and personal. Being treated kindly is a very welcome bonus.
• Happiness in Slavery: A mix of the life-debt and beloved servant categories. She chooses to serve Yuki because he treats her kindly and because he saved her from A Fate Worse Than Death.
• Horned Humanoid: She has sheep's horns on her head, but is otherwise human.
• Meido: Her official role in Yuki's dungeon.
• Mood Killer: To the point of Interrupted Intimacy. Leila, of all people, interrupts the one and only scene in volumes one and two where Yuki and Lefy actually start getting ... frisky with each other, and shuts it down as effectively as if she poured a bucket of cold water on their heads.
• Mysterious Waif: There's a lot to her backstory that she's hiding.
• Our Demons Are Different: Aside from the horns on her head, she could easily pass for a human.

Lyuuinne Gyroll/Lyuu

Race: Beast-kin, subspecies, Warwolf.

The second slave rescued by Yuuki who decides to live in the Yuki dungeon, supposedly because she wants to be close to his pet Fenrir, which is sacred to warwolves.

• Accidental Proposal: When her father and his tribe try to traverse Wicked Forest, said parent gets overprotective and tries to drag her home, by force, to push her into the very same Arranged Marriage she fled from. As to be expected, this pisses off Yuki beyond measure, the two men fight, and Yuki states that as long as Lyuu wants to stay, he will cherish and protect her. It isn't but a matter of seconds when Yuki realized that such a line is a marriage proposal in many cultures, including the tribe Lyuu's from.
• Ascended Fangirl: Of Mofir. Her race worships Fenrirs as gods. Being up close and personal to one is her greatest joy, to Mofir's annoyance.
• Little Bit Beastly: If not for her wolf ears and tail, she'd be a very attractive human woman.
• Meido: She also serves as a maid in Yuki's dungeon.
• Runaway Bride: She fled an Arranged Marriage to a guy she doesn't like, and she proves justified when we meet the clod, who thinks way, way too highly of himself and isn't long for this earth due to his combined Miles Gloriosus and Leeroy Jenkins lifestyle.

Nell

I won't let you hurt the innocent!

A "hero" raised by the human church, and sent after Yuki by the overly ambitious and "patriotic" prince Ryuit Glorrio Allysia of the human kingdom to eliminate Yuki.

• Anguished Declaration of Love: Immediately after Yuki saved her life, just before she fell unconscious, she blurts out "I love.." and passed out. Yuki turns in the direction of the fiends involved in harming her, and unleashed literal nightmare fuel upon all of them.
• Born Lucky: Her luck skill is in the thousands!
• Child Soldier: Deconstructed. She endured a great deal of training, and was given powerful abilities, but when she found herself in Yuki's "Haunted House," she completely broke down into a sobbing mess.
• The Determinator: Deconstructed and going into Fatal Flaw territory. She will not give up in heroic pursuits, even ignoring her fatigue, until she either succeeds, or dies. Yuki, being highly concerned for her well-being, sees this as a flaw.
• Hero Antagonist: Briefly. She is a genuine hero, but as humanity's trump card, she just happened to be at odds with Yuki, until she met him in person and realized with her own eyes that he's not Always Chaotic Evil like other Demon Lords she was briefed on.
• Heroes Prefer Swords: She does, though she treasures the Dagger Yuki gifted her that he forged, either from the leftovers in making Zaien, or in the research process leading up to said creation. Either way, since it's a weapon far, far better than anything she could ever hope to come across, she diligently trained in mastering its use.
• Heroic Wannabe: A rare positive example. Despite already having the "Hero" title, she wants to be known as a hero for the merit of her words and actions, not because some priest somewhere said "you're the hero, now go slay our country's enemies with gusto!" Even Yuki, who loathes heroes to the point of revulsion respects her dedication to this, and treats her kindly.
• Hidden Buxom: According to Yuki, her armor hides a decent pair of tits, which he gets to spot due to the fact that she was changing in his throne room when he teleported in.
• Hold the Line: In protecting the helpless women and children of Winged Dragon Clan, she sets up a barrier and then faces the entire enemy army, head on, so that the helpless can flee, and call for help, and she holds them off all night long.
• Horrible Judge of Character: While her assessment of Yuki and Lefy is quite correct, her assertion that Prince Ryuit is a good person, or at least means well, is way off the mark.
• Perpetual Poverty: The primary reason she agreed to become "the hero" is that her family's well below the poverty line, and the church promised them just a bit better lifestyle.
• Pervert Revenge Mode: Double Subverted. When Yuki teleports into his throne room, a public place, and he sees her topless, they both freeze and their eyes lock for some time. When Yuki's brain finishes rebooting, he makes an off-hand comment admiring her breasts. She pelts him in response.
• Skilled, but Naive: She is indeed quite talented with the sword, but she's easily fooled and tends to "go with the flow" way too quickly.
• Sure, Let's Go with That: When her superior Carlotta gives her an assessment of Yuki and his motivations for helping the church deal with the Evil Prince that is giving them all grief, she lampshades the trope by name, since Carlotta's assessment is marginally correct.
• Unwitting Pawn: She was sent to attack Yuki under the premise that he was threatening "innocent people." When Yuki pointed out how anything-but-innocent his victims were, she stood down completely.
• Wacky Marriage Proposal: Possibly the wackiest in fiction or reality. In chapter 181, Lefi announces to Yuki that the household would be thrilled at Nell being the newest wife, with Nell herself in attendance, blushing, squirming, and squeeing like the Smitten Teenage Girl she is. Coming from modern Japan, Yuki's brain goes "Does not compute."

Zaien

A sword Yuki forges from a cursed axe he confiscates from the villain Dorga, and a discarded "hero's sword" he finds in a weapon shop and buys for cheap.

• Affectionate Nick Name: Once she sports a humanoid avatar, Yuki is fond of calling her Enne, and she likes it.
• Because You Were Nice to Me: She's tickled pink to be Yuki's sword, because he dotes on her, talks to her, and treasures her, as opposed to all the other wielders who let the evil spirits take them over, or were even worse, and just lashed out with abandon, until they died, and joined the howling maelstrom of malevolence.
• BFS: Is one. As a sword, is so massive, even Yuki with his Arch-demon Super-Strength can barely wield it.
• Blood Knight: Combined with Hungry Weapon Even though Yuki's forging process removes the curse and makes the vengeful souls happy to serve, the weapon is still quite literally bloodthirsty, but hey, "baby steps."
• Comically Serious: She's very dead-pan and stiff, taking everything way too seriously, but she still pouts like a little kid and beams wholeheartedly when her few wishes get granted. This makes Yuki want to spoil her rotten.
• Death Seeker: While still trapped in the cursed axe briefly wielded by Drogan. She's ecstatic when Yuki took possession because he muted, if not eliminated, the screeching, howling, blood-crazed voices of the malevolent spirits that she was stuck with and were drowning her out.
• Empathic Weapon: It's self aware and serves Yuki willingly.
• Hates Being Alone: Wants to be at Yuki's side, constantly, and hates being placed in storage. As big as she is, this causes issues.
• No Biological Sex: As expected of a sword, she has no gender but identifies as female, purely because it feels comfortable.
• Our Phlebotinum Child: As Lefi herself lampshades.
  Lefi: "I would have never dreamed that you would literally make a child with your own hands simply because two children is not enough for you!"
• Suddenly Voiced: She speaks to Yuki, in the presence of Lefi in chapter 120, shocking both of them.
• Sympathetic P.O.V.: We get to see how she became sentient and what she thinks of being Yuki's weapon for the vast majority of chapter 120.
• Undying Loyalty: Lives and would die for Yuki, without hesitation.
• When She Smiles: Everybody absolutely melts when they see her smile.

Antagonists

Prince Ryuit Glorrio Allysia

That cowardly king will doom us all!

The prince of the kingdom of Allysia

• Ambition Is Evil: His Patriotic Fervor makes him want to expand his country's borders at all costs, and only sees Haunted Forest as prime grade A real-estate, ripe for development. He doesn't care who he has to step over to get it.
• Bullying a Dragon: Quite literally. Since he has deluded himself into thinking that Haunted Forest is populated only by mindless beasts, and there is no Supreme Dragon Leficious, he keeps sending troops, trying to provoke said "mythical" dragon by attacking her home, wholly overconfident in the strength of his country's armies and magical tools.
• The Caligula: His rigid self-righteousness and utter refusal to heed contrary opinions or even doubt anything he considers "fact" makes him entirely unsuited to rule, but he refuses to believe it. If the nation, starting with the capital, isn't willing to bolster his glory and be grateful for his non-existent "benevolence," then it can just burn to the ground with him.
• The Coup: When his plans blow up in his face, twice, and both the nobles of his faction, and the church who trained Nell turn, and start putting pressure on him, he sends covert ops troops everywhere to cause chaos as a distraction, so he can seize the crown for himself.
• The Determinator: Deconstructed. Once he sets upon a goal, he will not stop, regardless of the cost, setbacks, or counsel he gets against it. He fails to see how this can possibly be a demerit because once he sets down the wrong path, he will utterly refuse to abandon it, no matter what happens to him, or those around him.
• Glory Seeker: All he cares about, aside from filling his coffers, is making a name for himself.
• Hollywood Tactics: His tactics do have some merit, on paper. In reality... not so much.
• I Reject Your Reality: He has deluded himself into thinking Supreme Dragon Leficious is a myth, and does not exist.
• I've Come Too Far: After the second time he tried, and failed, to invade Haunted Forest, against King's orders, he had to either take control of the country, or as Yuki put it...

  "He'd be royally fucked without lube."

• Nice Job Fixing It, Villain: By launching a coup against his own father, he gives Yuki the perfect vehicle, and cover, to infiltrate the capital to deal with him directly.
• Patriotic Fervor: His Fatal Flaw. He takes the love of his country (not exactly its people) to an extremely unhealthy degree, and if he had the ability, would go to all-out war over the tiniest of slights, real or imagined, upon the principles he thinks his country stands for. He constantly chafes against his father, the king, who is more cautious and pragmatic, and is most certainly opposed to stirring up the hornet's nest known as Haunted Forest.
• Reign of Terror: What he launches while trying to take the throne.
• Suicidal Overconfidence: As officially noted in his character description, he's wholly convinced that the moment he takes control of any situation, things will go his way.
• Sunk Cost Fallacy: His army gets torn apart going after Yuki, the Demon Lord? The army wasn't big enough, send a bigger one! Wait, can't do that right now? Let's send in The Hero, alone, with no plan, preparation, or back-up! If that fails, we'll send in the Orihalcum party of adventurers who are usually deployed only in cases of nation-level disasters!
• Tautological Templar: Since he believes his goal of expanding his country's borders and influence is inherently just, then anything he does in pursuit of that goal is itself inherently just. Even his father's royal decree(s) won't change his mind about this, at all.
• Unwitting Pawn: Combined with People Puppets and Dead All Along. A demon took control of his corpse and instigated a civil war in the kingdom, for ends unknown.
• Villain Has a Point: Although Yuki and Lefy were right to chase down the slavers that kidnapped Illuna, an armed invasion demands a response, or other nations will think that invading is the correct method of "diplomacy" to get what they want or need. Unfortunately, the response he chose is so ill considered that he's just making things worse, but he refuses to believe it.
• Villain with Good Publicity: As the crown prince, he has access to the nation's bully pulpit and can spin any and every story to his advantage, which he does unashamedly and unabashedly.
• What Could Possibly Go Wrong?: He not only launched the expedition against king's orders, he promised a great many profits to his aristocratic backers to get the army he used, without sending any scouts first. Then he sends The Hero there alone...
• Wrong Genre Savvy: Since conquering the Haunted Forest is so difficult, there must be some great treasure there.

Dorga

The leader of a six-man pack of thugs that foolishly "ambush" Yuki, Lefy, and Dell in a back alley... after tracking him from the Adventurer's guild and seeing him unload corpses of monsters for cash.

• Axe-Crazy: Invoked and Literally. He is barely able to do anything but attack with wild abandon while he wields his cursed axe.
• Entertainingly Wrong: He not only thinks Yuki stole the monster corpses, that left the adventurer's guild in awe, from seasoned adventurers, but concludes that Lefy is a demon because a magical tool he carries says she's not actually human.
• Godzilla Threshold: When Yuki proves able to beat his men to a pulp without even trying, he whips out a cursed axe that he knows is going to literally drive him crazy, but doesn't think he has any other choice.
• Gonk: Yuki notes that he's unattractive, and the sheer mass of muscles he sports only makes it worse.
• Informed Attribute: One of his skills is "Crisis Detection Lvl III" yet he goes and provokes a Demon Lord and Supreme Dragon Lefy, even threatening the latter with gang-rape.
• Mugging the Monster: Exactly like the muggers who attacked Chuck Norris thought his martial arts moves were fakes, this clown thinks Yuki's monster corpses weren't actually his kills, and went purely by body-type and appearance, so he stalks and attacks him in an alley.
• Nice Job Fixing It, Villain: His threat to gang-rape Lefy leads to Yuki calling her "his woman" in a fit of rage, which makes her realize how he feels about her, and how she feels about him.
• Serial Rapist: When Yuki uses "analyze" on him, he finds a title proclaiming that he's exactly that.
• Testosterone Poisoning: His entire frame had way too many muscles on it for his own good.
• Too Dumb to Live: Even if Yuki had stolen those monster corpses, he had to be skilled enough to get close to the adventurers that killed the monsters, while the adventurers were actively doing the killing, and there's no way anyone like that would want the story getting out...

Legillus

An orhicalcum class adventurer Prince Ryuit hires to guard the castle gates.

• Beat Still, My Heart: Yuki has to literally rip his heart out to stop him.
• Blood Knight: He seeks out battles to the death, caring not a bit for context or situation.
• Interplay of Sex and Violence: He gets sexual arousal from battles to the death, and orgasmic glee, win or lose.
• Major Injury Underreaction: Combined with Made of Iron. A blow that takes out a major portion of his chest and abdomen isn't enough to stop him, or even slow him down.
• Red Baron: "The War Freak."
• Ultimate Job Security: His obsession with battles to the death, being a living ball of chaos, indiscriminate threat to friend and foe, makes everyone avoid him at all costs whenever possible, but his strength as an orihalcum level adventurer makes it impossible for the Adventurer's Guild to fire, or imprison him, as he would deserve in any other setting. The Adventurer's Guild, as a whole, can't control him in any way.

Gilordio Gyogarr

A black dragon "acquaintance" of Leficious.

• Ambition Is Evil: Wants to take over the world, exterminating all the other races in the process. Even at her most unsympathetic, Lefi wouldn't flatten countries without cause.
• And Now You Must Marry Me: To Lefi. He orders her to marry him, after he somehow usurped the throne of the Dragon king from his predecessor. This ticks Yuki off so much that Yuki has to kill the guy, personally.
• Compete for the Maiden's Hand: What his fight with Yuki was all about. What he didn't realize was that even if he had won, Lefi wouldn't have married him anyway, seeing as she only saw him as a petulant child too big for his britches.
• Dark Is Evil: He's a black dragon, and is an arrogant, cocky, detestable sot.
• Hoist by His Own Petard: Gets his Breath Weapon turned against him, twice.
• Humans Are Insects: He insists on calling Yuki, the demon lord, an insect, and is insulted upon seeing Lefi with a humanoid form.
• Hypocrite: "Stop using cheap tricks" says the guy who clearly won the seat of "Dragon King" by underhanded tricks.
• Just Toying with Them: Which comes back to bite him when Yuki pulls out the stops and starts using dungeon traps to mess him up, good.

• Suicidal Overconfidence: He flies up to Yuki's dungeon, lands, and demands Leficious, the supreme dragon, marry him.
• Villainous Breakdown: When he thinks he's killed Yuki, only to see the latter stand up again, barely holding it together, he panics and completely loses it.
• Virtue Is Weakness: He proclaims all the elder dragons as "senile" because they weren't keen on exterminating all the other races of the world.
• We Can Rule Together: He promises Lefi rulership of the world if she marries him. She refuses outright.

Lord Gojim

Leader of the "True Blood Fiends" factions of the Demons.

• Ambition Is Evil: Wants to lay claim to the demon throne, and use it to launch a war of conquest on all the other races of the world, regardless of the means, fair or foul, though mostly foul.
• Authority in Name Only: He is a figurehead for the "fiends", and he knows it. In fact, he happily lets them do whatever they want most of the time, as he's well aware that he has no leadership skills.
• Awakening the Sleeping Giant: He and his "Fiend" faction attack the Winged Demon Clan in the middle of the night, even targeting women and helpless children, because they couldn't ignore a power bloc of that magnitude and failed to sway them to their side. Rather than eliminating this "unstable variable" and supplanting them with loyal puppets like they intended, encountering the hero Nell, who proved way stronger, determined, and righteous than they could have imagined, has convinced the Winged Demons to take up arms against the Fiends, on the side of King Phryne, and Yuki's appearance to rescue Nell also completely annihilated a significant part of their faction. Even so, Gojim is unswayed, confident his plans have already reached a point where nobody can stop him anymore.
• Believing Their Own Lies: He genuinely believes he's honorable, brave, and has the moral high ground against King Phryne and the peaceful faction of the Demon Kingdom. While he's no pushover and is armed with a cursed blade at least as powerful as Zaien, he's an honorless coward who only fights people weaker than himself, whenever he has a choice, and happily sends troops against women and children if their faction doesn't agree with him.
• Dramatic Irony: His followers bring forward perfectly sound reasons to believe that Yuki is the least likely, among a list of four suspects, to be the masked man that is largely responsible for rescuing Nell and scuppering most of his plans, as well as absolutely decimating his army. The most compelling of which are the fact that Yuki's dungeon is over a week away, by the fastest possible transport, and is situated in a very dangerous area, presumably under constant threat. It just so happens that Yuki is indeed the masked "mercenary" who did so, and did it not for money or fame, but because he's got a serious personal grudge. Not to mention that the biggest threat to Yuki's dungeon, the Supreme Dragon Leficious, happens to be Yuki's wife!
• Evil Red Head: Red hair and a particularly nasty sot who sends assassins by the army-load against his political enemies or their supporters.
• Morton's Fork: Invoked. When Yuki makes an official challenge against him, personally, by throwing a sword dropped by his last arena opponent at his head, he's got only two options, go down to the arena and fight, or risk having his entire faction see him as the craven coward he actually is, in public, causing the "honor" of his so-called cause to be questioned, and risking his faction's collapse, not to mention a public airing of his dirty laundry. He chooses to go fight, openly throwing off his retainers when they try to stop him.
• Nonchalant Dodge: Dodges a sword that Yuki throws at him, and the chair he's sitting in, just by moving his head slightly to the side, not even breaking his posture.
• Slave to PR: His entire "campaign" is built upon the illusion that his faction is genuinely stronger than the demon king's, through actual might, not subterfuge, cowardice, and wanton slaughter of the helpless, including women and children. As such, he openly throws off his supporters when Yuki openly challenges him to a duel, despite being well aware that Yuki is very, very dangerous, because he doesn't dare appear weak or cowardly in public.
• Sunk Cost Fallacy: Up to eleven. He and his faction suffered major losses to Yuki, Nell, and King Phryne's elite counter-insurgent forces, and rather than admit they might, just might, have an untenable position, in both assets and ideology, their morale is actually invigorated because they see themselves avenging their fallen and continuing on down their path of conquest as the height of noble acts, and turning away from their warmongering as an insult to their deaths, making their "sacrifices" meaningless.
• Warhawk: Openly cries for total war against the humans, beastmen, and other races of the world, to prove the demon's dominance, and superiority. He sees all demons that refuse to join his banner, whether they actively oppose him or not, as traitors that don't deserve to live.

Baron Argus

One of the most glaring self-important nobles who think King Reid is a senile old coot that's been on the throne too long and needs to be replaced, as well as removing Nell from the "Hero" spot and replacing her with a new "hero" easier to manipulate.

• Ambition Is Evil: All his villainy was spurred by the thought of being as close to the throne as possible without actually becoming the next king.

• Engineered Heroics: The cornerstone of his plans was discrediting Nell by engineering crises and then swooping in to "solve" them. He does this, twice. Once by having an agent provoke a swarm of monsters and then have said monsters descend upon a town where Nell had to cross to reach the capital and then blame Nell for the resulting casualties. Not only did Nell (and Yuki) completely curbstomp the massive monster army, but they exposed the agent. Said agent wound up left to the the mercy of the monster survivors. Then again, in the royal capital, he has his men instigate a riot while Nell and Yuuki were in a ball with the king, swooping in at the last possible moment, trying to discredit Nell by showing that even though she was present, she didn't do squat. Yuki, having several recording devices in his mansion not only scuppered his plans, but brought hard evidence against him forward to the ball, and exposed his crimes to all the other nobility, including the king.
• Never My Fault: When evidence of his crimes is brought before him, he tries to weasel out with all sorts of excuses, and even asks Jaynor for help, teary eyed, saying he's done nothing wrong. Jaynor drops him like a hot potato in return.
• Smug Snake: He thinks and acts like he's the smartest man in the room. He's not.
• Unwitting Pawn: To Defense Minister Jaynor. Jaynor let him think he was a subordinate, but never actually had his back.

Defense Minister Jaynor Redrius

The mastermind behind the "Depose Nell" plan launched by Argus.

• Do Not Taunt Cthulhu: He boasts of Nell being a useful tool to Yuki, right in the latter's face. When Yuki grabs his throat and threatens to pop his head off like a Pez dispenser, he quickly realizes what a bad idea that was and apologizes while he can still (barely) speak.
• Karma Houdini: Since there's no direct evidence of his collusion, he's not going to face any punishment, and he knows it, so he doesn't see an issue with rubbing Yuki's face in it.
• Manipulative Bastard: He had Nell, Yuki, Argus, even the king within the palm of his hands, and still does.
• A Million Is a Statistic: He was perfectly willing to sacrifice an entire city for the sake of his plans.
  "It is better to lose a city than a war."
• Moral Sociopathy: He truly is working in the best interests of his country, as he sees them, anyway, and only sees people as tools to that end. When he called Nell a tool, he realizes it's Yuki's Berserk Button.
• Plausible Deniability: He had Argus strung along so well that the latter never realized that all the dirty work had his signature on it, leaving no evidence of Jaynor's involvement, until it was too late.
• Real Politik: All that matters to him is that his nation prospers. The means are of little relevance.
• Xanatos Gambit: No matter how the incident turned out, his goals would have been met. Nell gets disgraced and replaced by another "hero"? Well, her relationship with Yuki wouldn't give the surrounding countries Casus Belli to attack because she'd already been disgraced and cast out. Nell and Yuki win the day and expose Argus's schemes? A bunch of corrupt nobles and other bad actors get purged. Nell and Yuki get married, while Nell's still the "hero"? The kingdom just got a powerful new ally since Yuki's not going to let anyone mess with his lover!

Others

Raylow Lurubia

The mayor of the town of Alyfro.

• Ignored Expert: He is denied an audience with King Reiyd Glorrio Allysia outright, after Yuki and Leficious chase down the slaver gang that abducted Illuna, and the rest of the government in the kingdom of Allysia outright ignore his first hand account concerning his experience, despite the fact that his town is right smack on the front lines. Then they have the gall to be shocked that he provides them absolutely zero support on their ventures that would easily destroy their country.
• Know When to Fold 'Em: When a Demon Lord, Supreme Dragon, and a wing of 100 dragons descend upon your town, you had best bow and scrape right away, and hope you can bow and scrape enough to keep from getting blasted to oblivion.
• My Country, Right or Wrong: Even though he knows his country's government is entirely in the wrong by repeatedly antagonizing Yuki with armed invasions into Haunted Forest, he won't give up secret information, even if his town would be spared in exchange. Yuki is duly impressed by that level of devotion, especially to a country government that almost clearly does not deserve it.
• Nervous Wreck: Invoked and Justified. When your town is on the border of a monster-filled forest, the two leaders of said forest can show up at any time, with an army of 100 dragons, and your government just keeps on poking that hornet's nest, just to see what happens, despite your objections, it's certainly going to fray your nerves quite a bit.
• Please Kill Me if It Satisfies You: When he sees Yuki and Lefy in his office a second time, he fully expected they were there to deliver Disproportionate Retribution for the repeated armed invasions into Haunted Forest, and offered up his own life if they would promise to leave his town alone. He was gobsmacked when Yuki simply wanted to peacefully redress his grievance by being told who the actual perpetrator is.
• Tall Poppy Syndrome: On the receiving end. He's well aware that most, if not all, of the other nobles of his country loathe him because he earned his noble title, by merit, not bloodline, and see him as an upstart, his city has the strongest adventurers and soldiers in the country because they are at the boundary of Haunted Forest, his city is prosperous, despite the constant threat of monster invasions, and the icing on the cake? His troops pulled back when Yuki gave fair warning, thus surviving, while the rest of the nobles' forces foolishly continued to pursue their aggression and were utterly annihilated.
• What Were You Thinking?: When he hears from Nell, the hero herself, how she was sent to subdue Yuki, alone, and was surprised that not only did he spare her, but revealed that the situation clearly does not match what she was told in her briefing, Mayor Raylow blew his stack, and lampshades the trope by name, screaming at his government's arrogance, idiocy, and incompetence, while pounding on his furniture.
• Wrong Genre Savvy: He fully expected Yuki and Lefy to go full-tilt Omnicidal Maniac after being antagonized by his country's repeated armed invasions. He's wide-eyed with shock when Yuki comes to him seeking peaceful redress, and the identity of the actual guilty party or parties.

King Reiyd Glorrio Allysia

Don't touch Haunted Forest!

The reigning monarch in the kingdom of Allysia.

• Forced to Watch: In the castle's dungeons, he's chained to a wall in a cell across from where his daughter, also in chains, was getting brutalized by one of Prince Ryuit's thugs' for sexual arousal. Fortunately for the king and the little girl, Yuki came along and saw it.
• The Good King: He may not be a powerful general, or fight on the front lines, but his economic and diplomatic efforts provide a very high standard of living for his subjects. In fact, the kingdom of Allysia is the most prosperous country in the world, precisely because of him.
• It's All My Fault: Blames himself, entirely, for his eldest son's fate.
• Reasonable Authority Figure: He, wisely, was willing to overlook the invasion and temporary occupation of Alyford because the targets were all members of a criminal organization, and unlike his son, knew full well that said organization were the actual aggressors. Not to mention, he knows full well that antagonizing Haunted Forest will easily bring the doom of his nation.
• The So-Called Coward: Though his son never says it to his face, for fear of the due repercussions, he thinks the king is a coward for not immediately mobilizing troops to the Haunted forest in retaliation towards Yuki's and Lefy's attack.
• Threat Backfire: When Yuki makes crystal clear that should the king go after Haunted Forest, for any reason, Yuki would kill him, leaving his daughter an orphan crying over his grave, the king smiles and retorts that traditionally, the threat would have been made against his daughter instead. This leaves Yuki so stunned, he states that his facial expression would likely be that of a shocked Pikachu.
• Uncertain Doom: He's officially gone missing. Nobody currently knows if he's alive or dead. He's later found imprisoned in the castle dungeons.

Gamdia Roston

Former commander of the Knight order, and the only commanding officer to survive the ill-conceived attack on Haunted Forest.

• Cassandra Truth: He went to warn his superiors about how badly they were outmatched. He was ignored.
• Know When to Fold 'Em: When the Demon Lord seemingly teleports into your tent in the middle of the night, and says you'd be insects before his wrath, letting you depart only because it would be too bothersome to kill you, getting the hell out of Dodge is the right idea.
• Screw This, I'm Outta Here: He took his squad and retreated when given the chance. Said squad were the only survivors.
• The So-Called Coward: Because he wisely withdrew from a battle he had absolutely no chance of winning when given the chance, his superiors in the chain of command, especially the crown prince, dubbed him a coward and stripped his command. He and his squad consider this a small price for getting out of hell alive.

Carlotta

The head of the church, and the one who trained Nell to be humanity's "Hero."

• Asskicking Leads to Leadership: Strongest member of the church, even beating Nell, and its leader.
• Awesome by Analysis: While she never manages to penetrate Yuki's "Disguise" spell completely, failing to recognize him as the Demon Lord, simply from examining his footprints, she's well aware that he's hiding his true strength, because he values his freedom.

• The Chessmaster: While she is very benevolent, she does always have plans within plans going. This terrifies Yuki.
• Entertainingly Wrong: Her assessment of Yuki and his motives is only right in one area, his character. In everything else, she's only marginally correct.
• Friend to All Children: She runs an orphanage, in addition to her duties for the church. The kids all love her.
