To-do list:
- The trope is now In-Universe Examples Only, so remove any out-of-universe examples. Progress is being tracked using the Sandbox.Dream Team Cleaning sandbox.
Dream Team is attracting a lot of People Sit on Chairs examples that basically boil down to "2+ people worked together this one time", which was the same type of issues that did in Relationship Voice Actor. My wick check for it shows that around half of the examples fall into this category (and a large portion of them come from the Music/ namespace, which covers around 40% of the trope's wicks), while only 4 have the importance be brought up in-universe.
Solution: Disambiguate, much like Relationship Voice Actor. It could potentially be made in-universe only, but there doesn't seem to be enough examples for that, plus the name invites gushing.
Wick check:
- ArmorPiercingQuestion.Anime And Manga: The Big Bad of Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex 2nd Gig, Kazundo Ghoda, delivers one to all of Section 9 after he blatantly uses them to transport a case of stolen plutonium out of a dangerous area: he intentionally opens the case to reveal it was empty, and informs that the real case of plutonium was safely recovered by the military. Batou protests how the jerk just used Section 9 as a decoy, leading to this as his response, making them realize even Section 9 could easily be wiped out in a fight if the enemy has numbers on their side.
Batou: Just who do you think we are, pal?
Ghoda: The real question is who do you think YOU are? An elite squad of the hand-picked chosen few? This is technically a pothole, but it explains the trope - Characters. The Crown 2016 Friends And Acquaintances Of The Royal Family: Those gathered by Fruity to bolster the Duke’s case for his return to royal service are some of the most influential members of British upper-class society, including politician Sir Walter Monckton, society photographer and artist Cecil Beaton, Lord “Bobbety” Salisbury, Lord Beaverbrook (owner of the Daily Express), Selwyn Lloyd (Foreign Secretary from 1955 until 1960) and author Vita Sackville-West. In the end, their efforts are All for Nothing, as the Marburg Files and David’s Nazi connections rear their ugly head and the Queen, utterly appalled at the revelations about her uncle's past, firmly blocks any chance of his return to royal service.
- Characters.Yowamushi Pedal: Fukutomi describes Hakone as "a team of aces". Technically correct if a bit on the short side
- ComicBook.Necronauts: Arthur Conan Doyle, H. P. Lovecraft, Charles Fort and Harry Houdini team up. Knowing that these are real people is enough
- Literature.Strange The Dreamer: The outsiders that the Tizerkane bring into Weep all have special expertise that make them experts in their fields. Among the assembled are a mathematician, a natural scientist, a renown architect, a couple who invented a flying machine, twin brother geologists, and a girl who is really good at climbing.
- Characters.Lupin III: The best thief, most deadly assassin, fastest gunslinger, and most beautiful trickster team up to do crime.

- He had a duet with Beyoncé on "Perfect".
- He had teamed up with Eminem and 50 Cent on "Remember The Name".
- His No. 6 Collaborations Project album contains a load of artists, ranging from Justin Bieber to Bruno Mars to even Skrillex.
- Music.Elvis Costello:
- He had a sporadic songwriting partnership with Paul McCartney, leading to several McCartney/Costello compositions scattered over both artists' albums in the late 80s and early 90s. One of their joint compositions, "Veronica", became one of the biggest hits of Costello's career. (McCartney plays bass on the song as well.) Costello joked that their collaboration reversed the dynamics one would expect, with Paul being the one who tried to write entire songs in one chord and similar weirdness, and Elvis being the one who was coming up with more melodic material.
- He recorded an album with famed Rap/R&B band The Roots in 2013.
- Music.Gary Numan:
- He and Fear Factory did a cover of "Cars" together, appearing in their album Obsolete as a bonus track.
- Any time he and Trent Reznor get together live blows the roof off the venue. That and the very obscure hints that they may collaborate on a future album together.
- Music.George Michael: Did duets with Aretha Franklin, Whitney Houston, Ray Charles, Tony Bennett, Elton John, Mary J. Blige, Paul McCartney, Mutya Buena, Jody Watley, and performed live duets with Elton John, Stevie Wonder, Smokey Robinson, Luciano Pavarotti, Beyoncé, and Queen.
- Music.Jason Mraz:
- Teamed up with Colbie Caillat, for the song "Lucky."
- Provided the voice of Dr. Pomatter for Sara Bareilles's What's Inside: Songs from Waitress. The two later starred opposite each other on Broadway.
- Music.Kelela:
- She's collaborated with a pretty impressive list of stars over the years, including Danny Brown, Solange, Gorillaz, and Arca.
- Epitomized with the Remix Album of Take Me Apart, which features remixes from a variety of renowned electronic producers as well as the posse-cut "LMK" remix with CupcakKe, Junglepussy, Princess Nokia, and Ms Boogie.
- Music.Lorde:
- Her, Stromae, Pusha T and Q-Tip on "Meltdown" from the Mockingjay soundtrack.
- Also with Son Lux on "Easy (Switch Screens)".
- Also with Khalid, SZA and Post Malone on the remix of "Homemade Dynamite".
- Music.Mary J Blige:
- Collaborated with Lauryn Hill to sing "I Used to Love Him", from Hill's debut album The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill
- Her and Lil' Kim on "I Can Love You"
- Music.Matmos: They collaborated with Björk on her albums Vespertine and Medúlla. They also released a split EP with Post-Rock/chamber music band Rachel’s.
- Music.Matthew Sweet:
- Sweet seems to have a talent for getting famous musicians to play on his albums — aside from the Altered Beast cast, Van Dyke Parks guests on Living Things, and In Reverse also included famous session musicians Jim Keltner on drums and Carol Kaye on bass).
- Also applies on the art side as well. Roger Dean, famous for his album covers for Yes, did the lettering on Blue Sky on Mars, and Japanese artist Yoshitomo Nara did the illustrations for Kimi Ga Suki.
- Music.Ofra Haza: Haza has collaborated with several artists over the course of her career:
- Her with The Sisters of Mercy in the single "Temple of Love" in 1992.
- Her with Iggy Pop for her song "Daw Da Hirya", as well as for the song "Give Peace a Chance" in 1991.
- Her with Hans Zimmer for The Prince of Egypt.

- Her with Paula Abdul for the song "My Love is for Real" in 1995.
- Music.Playboi Carti: Carti and Lil Uzi Vert on "Lookin", "wokeuplikethis", and "Shoota".
- Music.Sunn O: They're very good at picking collaborators. Examples include Merzbow, Leviathan, Nurse with Wound, Boris, Scott Walker, Ulver, and Steve Albini, and that's just the start of it.
- Music. The All American Rejects: "The Future Has Arrived," for the Meet the Robinsons soundtrack, was co-written by Danny Elfman, adapted from a piece of his score for the film.
- Music.Venetian Snares:
- With Daniel Lanois. The two of them even toured for a time, and played live months prior to their album.
- With Hecate, as Nymphomatriarch.
- With Autechre, as AESVS, for a compilation appearance.

- UsefulNotes.Nikola Tesla: The band 8in8 (Ben Folds, Amanda Palmer, Damian Kulash, and Neil Gaiman) opened their album Nighty Night with a pun-laden love song to a time-traveling Tesla. [1]
- Wrestling.Rey Mysterio Jr:
- Himself, Myzteziz and El Patrón Alberto were called such in Triple A.
- With Dragon Azteca Jr. and Prince Puma in Lucha Underground.
- Awesome, Dear Boy: When the American Olympic Selection Committee was putting together the original Dream Team in 1992, some top players were initially reluctant to sign on for various reasons. Michael Jordan would rather have been playing golf, and Larry Bird's health issues were forcing him to the brink of retirement. It was only after some others, particularly Magic Johnson, enthusiastically answered the call that the unique historical potential of the team became apparent. By the time the roster was set it was obvious this would be a team like no other, and in the years since many of the players, including even Jordan, have stated that it was the most important and memorable experience of their careers.
- Plot Tailored to the Party: The "Demon Seed" arc of The Dragon Doctors is the first one that makes full use of the abilities of all four magical doctors at once. The patient is a man with a sentient parasite slowly devouring him from within, can see everything he sees, and will take over his body and attack if they alarm him. First Kili the shaman/therapist puts the patient into a hypnotic mind-meld trance, then his body is magically petrified by the wizard to trap the parasite and keep him stable, then the Magitek diagnostician and surgeon drill it out of his body one piece at a time.
- Variant Power Copying: In Kuroko's Basketball, while Kise can normally just rely on standard Power Copying when replicating ordinary techniques, he often has to resort to this trope when copying the techniques of the Generation of Miracles. For example, while he doesn't have the Emperor Eye, he can replicate its effects closely enough with the observational skills and reflexes he uses to copy opponents in the first place.
- Awesome.John Rain: The Killer Collective: Not only does the book itself get a CMOA for assembling the Dream Team of assassins and operatives covered throughout the series, but Larison also gets one when first ambushed at Colonel Horton's house. While Hort and Rain retreat to gather more weapons, Larison sprints into the forest and hunts down a group of operatives like a hellhound.
- Creator.Johnny Hallyday: The last of his concerts happened on July 5, 2017 during the tour of "Les Vieilles Canailles", a sort of Dream Team of legends of 1960s French rock & roll with the addition of his friends Eddy Mitchell and Jacques Dutronc. They were gathered for the first time in 2014.
- Music. All Things Must Pass: Improv: Harrison gave the backing musicians free reign to change arrangements on their own - a fine idea given how much talent he was surrounded with. The third record consists of nothing but short improvised jams.
- Quotes.Boisterous Bruiser: The trope is namechecked, but it says nothing about it
- Recap. The A Team S 2 E 21 Deadly Manuevers: Carnival of Killers: A syndicate of crime lords pay Major Douglas Kyle to assemble a Dream Team of mercenaries to hunt down the A-Team.
- ShoutOut.Neptunia: When all of the Goddesses band together to fight against Tari, Purple Heart says that they've assembled a real dream cast.
- TheAce.Literature: Ser Arthur Dayne, of King Aerys II's now legendary Kingsguard, is the one Knight held in the same breath as The Dragonknight. Referred to as the finest swordsmen and fighter ever seen by several worthy characters, mainly Jaime Lannister and Ned Stark. Catelyn Stark also called him "the deadliest of Aerys's seven Kingsguard," which is saying something. One does not simply earn the moniker "Sword of the Morning," by being a hack.
- Trivia. The Tree Of Life: Development Hell: Terrence Malick began work on a project enigmatically entitled Q before making The Thin Red Line, only for it to come to a halt. Apparently, Malick used Q as a basis for The Tree of Life, which was finally officially announced in 2005, only to have casting issues, gathering up a Dream Team of visual effects artists to achieve his vision, and then work very, very slowly to make everything as good as possible. In short, he's a perfectionist.
- WebAnimation.Klay World: Avengers Assemble: The 2003 videos were essentially a build-up toward the "Klay World" 6-part miniseries, which involved making a Dream Team out of previously introduced characters: Dr. Bob, Chris, Henry, Hulky, Jacob, Leon's Dog, Michael, Newspaper Monster, Red Shirt Guy, The Robot, The Tree Hand Thing, and the Yellow Seed.
- Characters.Maple Story One: Despite having little in common, they form a team in the 2016 MapleStory Detectives event. Yes team no dream
- Characters.TNOUSA: To save the URI and Hart's legacy by extension, Chep rallies as many supporters as he can to counter the conservatives' attempts to kill it, which includes many of the supporting characters that showed up in Hart's campaign, from progressive voices such as Jane Jacobs, Walter Reuthers and Bayard Rustin to experienced establishment figures such as Henry Kissinger and Birch Bayh. But what makes them an example of this trope?
- Film. The Blues Brothers: The Blues Brothers band in-universe. Blatant ZCE
- Manga.Kurokos Basketball: Neither explains why they're a dream team
- The Generation of Miracles, during their middle school years. Becomes a Deconstructed Trope, as being on a team that powerful turned most of the members into jerkasses when playing basketball, prompting Kuroko to leave the team, and is also what caused the team to fall apart. This is averted in the present day, as though they're collectively still through of as this, they are no longer a 'team' since they all go to different schools.
- In the sequel manga Kuroko's Basketball: Extra Game, the Generation of Miracles, Kuroko, and Kagami all form a street-ball team called Team Vorpal Swords to take on Team Jabberwock, a visiting street-ball team from America that utterly defeated the Generation of Miracle's seniors and disrespected Japanese basketball.
- Wrestling.Mick Foley: Him and Terry Funk. Blatant ZCE
- All-Star Cast: Compare Massive Multiplayer Crossover, Celebrity Voice Actor, and Dream Team. See also
- Creator.Elle Mac Pherson: She, Kathy Ireland and Rachel Hunter were billed this way on the cover of the 1994 Swimsuit Issue. Lampshaded, posible creator troping
- Music.Negativland: Played straight and parodied on Escape From Noise; the album features many prominent, highly respected local names in music and counterculture alike (including Mark Mothersbaugh and members of The Grateful Dead), a few of whose contributions are absolutely minor, or have nothing to do with their talents (e.g. Jello Biafra flushing a toiletnote , a member of Big City Orchestra running a leafblower, a random vocal sound from Church of the Subgenius Reverend Ivan Stang). A parody of the concept
- WebOriginal.Minecraft Championship: The aptly-named Dream Team (Dream, George, and Sapnap). All three competitors are very skilled (with Dream and Sapnap consistently ranking in the top ten, and often in the top five), and have very good communication and overall teamwork. They've all been put on the same team for three competitions—7, 11, and All-Stars—and won two out of three times (11 and All-Stars). It is lampshaded, at least

Took care of them all. I just replaced the link with "group of" / "collection of" , etc.
Okay, next on the chopping block: AKB48, I.O.I, IZ*ONE, LOONA and Wanna One go into some context in the example, but I'm unsure if this counts as "In-universe"? Since we're counting Lampshade Hangings as "In-universe", and this might be on that same ballpark.
I'd like to apologize for all this.In-universe means someone in-universe called a group a dream team; anything lacking such acknowledgement has to go. I'm tempted to say to cut those examples.
Patiently awaiting the release of Paper Luigi and the Marvelous Compass. So two examples on ArmorPiercingQuestion.Anime And Manga and AudioPlay.Steam Heart got removed, but I think both count as in-universe. Opinions?
I'd like to apologize for all this.I culled the on-page examples of ZCEs and meta/out-of-universe examples.
Patiently awaiting the release of Paper Luigi and the Marvelous Compass.Thank you. I still need some feedback on
I'd like to apologize for all this.I think the wick on the former page and the second example on the latter page count as in-universe because they refer to the members of the group being particularly good at what they do.
The first example on the latter page is at least a ZCE; it mentions a group without saying how good they are at what they do.
Edit: I can't help but wonder if these removals may have been based on a misinterpretation of what I previously said. I didn't mean the specific phrase "dream team" has to be used to refer to these groups; only that they have to be picked/assembled because of how good they are at what they do, as opposed to only being labeled as such out-of-universe.

Patiently awaiting the release of Paper Luigi and the Marvelous Compass.Double posting because I re-added the examples I said I'm pretty sure are valid. (I used the mod revert tool instead of just copying and pasting because I'm lazy.)

Crown Description:
Dream Team is attracting a lot of People Sit On Chairs examples that basically boil down to "2+ people worked together this one time", which was the same type of issues that did in Relationship Voice Actor. However, it has been suggested that in-universe examples have sufficient meaning, so making the trope In Universe Examples Only has been suggested. What should be done with Dream Team?
Okay, I'm almost done with the Music/ section. I'm just missing some sinkholes that I don't know how to remove from Central Cee, Christina Aguilera, Glenn Branca, Jim Steinman, Kind of Blue, Primal Scream, Tenacious D, The Seatbelts and This Mortal Coil.
I'd like to apologize for all this.
