Eyes on me! The moment we become one, everyone pays attention. note

IZ*ONE note  was a Girl Group formed from the show Produce48, where 96 participants competed to be a part of the final twelve that would get to debut.

As IZ*ONE was a collaborative project between both South Korean and Japanese agencies and make both Korean and Japanese music, they can be considered as both a K-pop and a J-pop group. The group officially debuted in Korea on October 29, 2018, with the release of their album COLOR*IZ (title track ‘La Vie en Rose’) and had their Japanese debut with the album and title track ‘Suki to Iwasetai’ on February 6, 2019. Their first full Korean album, entitled BLOOM*IZ, was released in February 17, 2020 (initially planned for release in November 2019 but delayed due to a series of Produce-related scandals) to critical acclaim. Their first full Japanese album, entitled TWELVE, compiles the title tracks of their previous Japanese comebacks alongside new songs and is planned to be released in October 21, 2020.

Documenting the members’ experiences leading up to their Korean debut and release of COLOR*IZ, IZ*ONE had a reality show called IZ*ONE CHU note  which ran from October 25 to November 15, 2018. This was followed up with a second season called IZ*ONE CHU: Secret Friends in 2019 which placed the girls in a high-school setting where they had to "move the heart" of another member without that person's knowledge. That season also documented the lead-up to their first guerrilla concert and the production of their first Korean comeback, HEART*IZ. A third season entitled IZ*ONE CHU: Fantasy Campus was released in June 2020 and brought the girls this time in a college/university campus setting where they learned new skills in preparation for their latest comeback, Oneiric Diary. The fourth season, IZ*ONE CHU: ON:TACT was released towards the end of September 2020 to coincide with their preparation for the SBS ON:TACT Super Concert on October 2020.

Other than their numerous variety and reality show appearances, IZ*ONE had a regular vlogging/behind-the-scenes series called ENOZI note  Cam, available with subtitles on Youtube.

Their concert tour, Eyes On Me, received a documentary film titled Eyes on Me: The Movie that was originally scheduled for a release on November 15, 2019 to coincide with the release of BLOOM*IZ, but both were delayed to early/mid-2020. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, EOM: The Movie's release date was moved to June 10, 2020 where it was shown in Korean cinemas note . The movie will be released in other countries at later dates once quarantine protocols have become more lenient.

The girls have also held an online concert entitled ONEIRIC THEATER on September 13, 2020 which was livestreamed via Interpark Global. The concert utilized AR and XR technology to showcase the girls' performances in various stages, including special unit numbers and live band remixes of their previously released discographies up to that point.

On March 10, 2021, Mnet announced the end of the project following the original stipulations of the members' contract on April 29, 2021. This news was published in the wake of the announcement of IZ*ONE's second online concert entitled ONE, The Story held for two days on March 13 to 14, 2021 via Interpark streaming as well. However, it was also revealed on the final day of the second concert that it would be the last day of the girls' official activities as twelve members together. Hence, all succeeding releases from the group and its members until April 29th were confirmed to have been pre-recorded or booked prior to Mnet's announcement. Post-IZ*ONE, the girls have pursued further careers in music, dance, and acting.

The following tropes have been sorted into their respective pages:
Tropes that apply to IZ*ONE in general:
  • Affectionate Nickname: All of them have nicknames that fans fondly use to refer to them (which some members have even adopted):
    • Eunbi: Kwoncelebnote , General Kwonnote , Rabbit Leader or Captain Rabbit
    • Sakura: Kkuranote , Saku-channote , Kim Kkura / Lee Kkura note
    • Hyewon: Kang-chan note , Kwangbae note , Selca Goddess note , Hyem/Hyemunote
    • Yena: Duck, Yejulianote , Yenarinote
    • Chaeyeon: Feathernote , Miyawaki Chaeyeon note , Chaeberet
    • Chaewon: Angel, Ssamu / Ssamu Fairy note , Ssamachi, Sweet & Salty Goddess note
    • Minjoo: Mingurinote , Minjugatto note , Kim Minjoo Angelnote
    • Nako: Ya Bukhee note , Nabuki Yako / Na Bukhee, Malabuki
    • Hitomi: Hii-chan, Hii-sama, Tomi/Ttomi note , Peach note , Hong Dahee note , Hitoma note
    • Yuri: Jjoyul note , Julia note
    • Yujin: Yudings/Yudaeng/Yutriever note , Zini / Jinnie note
    • Wonyoung: Giant Baby note , Rabbit Maknae, Elizabeth Rebecca Victoria Wonyoung Jang note
  • Alliterative Name: Honda Hitomi
  • Aloof Dark-Haired Girl: Kang Hyewon, the "innocent rapper from hell", had an initial image like this due to her restrained emotional expressions... before it turned out that she simply had a different way of thinking.
  • Animal Motif:
    • Yena the duck, used and abused no matter where she guests, IZ*ONE-related or otherwise.
    • Minjoo the frog (llamas and monkeys are also associated with her due to her animal impressions) and more recently a fennec fox (due to Korean netizens comparing her exotic visuals to something as elegant and rare
    • Eunbi and Wonyoung as bunnies
    • Yujin the large puppy.
    • Eunbi’s nickname for Chaewon, Sloth, is also catching on. More recently, Chaewon is often likened to a baby tiger or a cheetah for her dually cute yet fierce reputation and her tendency to make adorable growling noises at the drop of a hat. She's also compared to fawns or baby deer for her doe eyes.
    • Yuri has been compared to a beagle or a hamster (for her amusing reactions) to the slightest events.
    • Sakura is usually likened to a cat (due to her love for them as well as her endearingly awkward dual personality.
    • Nako's fans often use penguins or squirrel to represent her.
    • Hyewon's fans tend to drift towards using a hamster or a wolf to represent her cute and aloof sides, respectively.
    • Chaeyeon's representative animal is typically some kind of bird, symbolizing her grace and free-spirited personality.
    • Hitomi is the only one to not typically have an animal representative, appearing as a peach in most fan and official material.
  • Angelic Beauty:
    • There’s a reason why Chaewon’s nickname is ‘Angel Chaewon’.
    • Minjoo as well, who is constantly praised by her members and various news sites for her ethereal beauty. Following her first stint on Show! Music Core as an emcee where she had to play along with a very cringe-inducing script, Minjoo was affectionately dubbed "Kim Minjoo Angel" by the fans and the members which she has finally embraced, albeit with much embarrassment.
      • As of September 2020, her co-hosts have also taken to calling her "Minjoo Angel" in their emcee scripts.
  • Auntie Pennybags: After achieving good levels of domestic success, most of the girls have been very generous with their (for some, newfound) wealth. Eunbi often treats the girls and their staff with plenty of gifts, while Yena often sends food trucks in support of her friends/labelmates (like the members of EVERGLOW) and Hitomi is noted to be very diligent in buying premium gifts for their stylists and staff managers.
    • Hyewon is the most overt example. Rumor has it that she has owned a black card even prior to becoming a trainee and debuting, wears several top-of-line brands even outside of brand sponsorships and fan gifts, and has been heard to have gone on fancy dinner trips with friends occasionally. As mentioned in Photographic Memory, she's also not above using her wealth to gift her members with items from their wishlists on their birthdays (notable examples include giving Wonyoung a luxury watch, buying Yuri a stuffed elephant, and taking Sakura on a yacht ride around Busan).
  • The Baby of the Bunch: Not-so-little maknae Wonyoung who shares a nearly-nine-year-gap with the oldest member Eunbi. The older members (including Yujin who is only older than her by little less than a full year) tended to coddle her and playfully tease her for her moody "puberty phase" especially in their early months together as a group. Less so post-IZ*ONE but the sentiment still pops up every now and then.
    • Hitomi also receives this treatment to a milder extent. Many of the members (including the younger ones) are instinctively protective of her wellbeing (Season 1 of IZ*ONE CHU provides an excellent example).
  • Beautiful Singing Voice: Yuri is praised for her vocals as much as Chaeyeon is fawned over for her dancing skills by the group. For what it's worth, Yuri herself favors the vocals of Yujin, Yena, and Chaewon according to her guest appearance in The King of Mask Singer.
  • Big Eater: All 12 members are highly motivated by food more than any other type of reward, and they're not above bending the rules to obtain their glutton-sating goodies. Examples of their Trademark Favorite Food include beef, seafoods, tteokbokki, malatang, fried chicken, salads, and anything with cheese in it. note
    • The biggest offenders are usually Hyewon and Eunbi (for desserts) and Yujin and Wonyoung (though justified given that they're the youngest and are still growing kids).
    • A producer on Eat-Ting Trip revealed that Wonyoung happily ate the most food portions during the Season 2 taping even when the cameras weren't rolling anymore.
  • Brains and Brawn: The two maknaes Wonyoung and Yujin, whenever paired together, are often promoted as this: in spite of her young age and relatively early entry into showbiz, Wonyoung often boasted high grades and test scores as well as active leadership positions in school. Yujin, on the other hand, was often teased by the other members (led by Yena and Yuri) for having poor test scores and only boasting school awards related to sports and extracurricular activities during IZ*ONE CHU seasons 1 and 2.
    • Averted firmly in Real Life, however, as Wonyoung has been known for being the only member to play at the pitching event in ISAC whereas Yujin flawlessly aced her high school graduation exam in the midst of Oneiric Diary promotions and TWELVE preparations. Lampshaded by Eunbi and the other older members who say that Yujin is smarter than she lets people on, saying that she does most of the impromptu emcee duties for a reason.
    • Downplayed example with Sakura and Chaeyeon: Sakura's a homebody who runs a Youtube gaming channel and hates exercising and playing sports (except swimming, apparently) whereas Chaeyeon's a dancer-choreographer who isn't too interested in playing video games unlike the other members.
  • Bratty Half-Pint: Yujin is the second-youngest member and is notorious for terrorizing her unnies, to the point of them considering her the top of IZ*ONE's hierarchy and glaring when she denied it and insisted that she was very respectful of them all. Seeing how she was the one calling Yujin's bullshit out, Yena seems to be the one who suffers under her the most. She grows out of it as she got older.
  • Catchphrase: “Eyes on me!”note
  • Celebrity Resemblance: Many think that Eunbi looks like Red Velvet’s Irene. It was mentioned on Produce 48 as Go Yujin insisted that Eunbi looked just like her and the editors put Eunbi and Irene side by side singing “Peek-a-boo~”.
    • Yuri has also been noted to look extremely identical to fellow Produce alumna, ex-IOI/current Weki Meki member Choi Yoojung.
    • Some fans believe Yena resembles Yuqi of (G)I-DLE as well. Including Yena and Yuqi themselves as the two have become friends recently.
  • Characterization Marches On: All of them to an extent blossom into more nuanced onstage personalities over the course of 2.5 years. The most noticeable examples include Chaewon (who was seen as being rather unremarkable and unapproachable outside of her performing skills early in the group's career, before she became more outspoken and even rambunctious thanks to the influence of her members, especially her roommate Yena) and the younger members (e.g. Yujin who was initially presented as a hyperactive teenager eventually mellowed out into a more introverted young adult, while Wonyoung who was initially shown as a preteen overwhelmed by the experiences of the entertainment industry and babied by her older members became a more outspoken extravert capable of interacting with even the most prominent industry legends.)
  • Cherry Blossom Girl: Hey, who’s that girl dancing with cherry blossoms in the background here? Her name’s Sakura? And her official colour is a shade of pink? She was born on the first day of Spring? What a coincidence.
  • Child Popstar: The Japanese members who had all previously debuted in their home country at very young ages (Sakura at 13, Nako and Hitomi at 12). Wonyoung and Yujin also count for having debuted with IZ*ONE at the international ages of 13 and 14, respectively.
  • Colour-Coded for Your Convenience: Each of IZ*ONE’s members have a specific official colour that represents them.
    • Eunbi: Purple
    • Sakura: Pastel Pink
    • Hyewon: Coral
    • Yena: Yellow
    • Chaeyeon: Blue Mint
    • Chaewon: Mint
    • Minjoo: White
    • Nako: Sky Blue
    • Hitomi: Peach
    • Yuri: Orange
    • Yujin: Blue
    • Wonyoung: Pink
  • Contrived Coincidence: Yujin seems to be a magnet for this, given that she first encountered Yena at a random convenience store some time before filming for PRODUCE48 even began and grew up watching a young Chaeyeon perform on national TV as a contestant within a different reality show before ultimately becoming part of the same group.
  • Crouching Moron, Hidden Badass: Yena is conventionally known for her airheaded and naturally humorous personality, but any member would be quick to tell you that she is an exceptional creative "director" who comes up with a lot of stage ideas and concepts which the group almost unanimously uses in their performances. Watching her performances should give people an idea that the duck-looking little girl can belt out high notes, learn to rap without initial training, and perform a variety of both boy and girl group dances flawlessly.
  • Cute, but Cacophonic: It's almost like a trademark of theirs. The most recent and most notable instance was when they were invited to host a Liev note  and immediately turned it into their personal playground within minutes of entering the set.
  • Dancing Is Serious Business: Put to the test when she joins her third Mnet survival competition Street Woman Fighter after IZ*ONE's dissolution where she joins non-idol professionals (i.e. choreographers, "backup" dancers, and international contest winners) as the only contestant with an official occupation as a K-pop idol.
  • Dancing Royalty: Chaeyeon, a veteran of idol survival shows, is often praised for her amazing dancing skills which mesmerize not only the fans but also general audiences and even the other group members. In fact, this is the reason why she's part of the choreography team.
  • Does Not Like Spam: Some of the members appear to have an intense dislike for anything mint-chocolate flavored, much to the chagrin of Nako, Chaewon, and Wonyoung. Others argue (playfully) about their dislike for matcha and pineapples on pizza.
  • Dyeing for Your Art: All the girls have colored their hair at least once per promotion era, which is a given considering the industry they're working in. The exception to this is Wonyoung who's known to have dyed her hair only a few times (in vibrant violet, no less) and has had to use colored hair extensions instead due to her scalp being weak to the strong hairdyes being used.
  • Dye Hard: Related to the above, several members have had colorful hair colors with the most frequent changers being members like Yena and Sakura... though as of 2022, it seems Hitomi's the one who's consistently continued to dye her hair in any shade of vibrant color that isn't black or natural shades of brown.
  • Easily Impressed: Most of the girls show rather strong reactions to most things in general, but special mention goes to Minju whose very excitable responses to everything (from her fear of ghosts to her admiration for another member's skills) have spawned several iconic memes.
  • Even the Girls Want Her: IZ*ONE has a large young female fanbase in both Korea and Japan, which is something even the Japanese members note as remarkable for a girl group note .
    • The girls themselves are Chaeyeon's biggest fan girls whenever she dances.
    • Members unabashedly admit to feeling very attracted to Minjoo, Hyewon, Sakura, and Wonyoung's visuals.
    • In terms of coolness, most members prefer Yena and Yujin who both have similar sporty hobbies, strong charismatic personalities, and quirky humor. Members like Nako have even gone on record to say that Yena would be an ideal "boyfriend" type, hilariously enough.
Sakura: [Yujin's] the type of person who can play both the princess and the prince. Isn't that cool!?
  • Fan Community Nickname: WIZ*ONE, the wizards who support IZ*ONE's magical future.
  • Fish out of Water: Though the Japanese members’ Korean is steadily improving, their language barrier can lead to this happening - especially on Korean variety shows. The Korean members on Japanese variety shows also look very lost at times.
  • Funny Character, Boring Actor: Averted to hell and back. The girls have a reputation in the industry for being some of the rowdiest and funnily chaotic idols in the industry (partly thanks to the large number of members and resulting variety in humor) and a fan would believe that they may be exaggerating such reactions for the cameras, only for industry insiders such as different variety show producers and directors to reveal that the girls are as hilarious and affectionate with everybody even when the cameras aren't rolling.
  • Gamer Chick: A lot of the members enjoy playing games, but the most famous one is Sakura who has maintained a Youtube gaming channel since her HKT48 days (though it's been updated less often now due to their busy schedules). She built her own gaming PC setup in their dorms that's affectionately referred to as their "PC bang" (the Korean equivalent of a manga cafe or Internet cafe) and hosts a corner in her solo radio show exclusively to talk about video games like Animal Crossing and LoL.
    • The '99 liners Yena and Hyewon are also noted to be avid gamers who are known to play Animal Crossing and Mario Party on the Switch and horror games note  on the Playstation 4.
    • Yujin also enjoys Nintendo Switch games, mostly Just Dance with Yena and Ring Fit Adventure.
    • Nako and Chaewon are known for enjoying PUBG even on VLIVE.
    • Apparently Yuri as well, as Nako relates a story of how she easily beat the latter's record in Kart Rider despite having only played the game in less than week while Nako has been playing for months.
    • Eunbi, who despite being a novice gamer, enjoys playing Kart Rider and other mobile games with her members.
    • Their skills have finally been put to use in the latest ISAC e-Sports competition as two teams represented IZ*ONE in the PUBG and Kart Rider events. note
  • Girl Group: Simultaneously a K-pop and J-pop group. This shows in how the girls are known for the high-precision / knife-like synchronized performances that has become the trademark of K-pop groups while retaining the goofy and relatable / approachable "girl-next-door" characters which J-pop idols are known for.
  • Graceful in Their Element: Each member is so individually quirky that one might perceive them for being inept based on their personalities alone, but put the girls on a stage to perform and everything about them does a solid 180 degree turn into professional performers of the highest caliber.
  • Height Angst: On opposite ends of the spectrum, no less:
    • Nako is usually the most frequent victim of this. Though she's only slightly below average for a Japanese female's height, nearly everyone in South Korea towers over her by comparison and she's commonly acknowledged as one of the shortest idols in the K-pop industry. Often Played for Laughs in variety shows where she can use her cute appearance to her advantage, but Played for Drama in real life as well since she's aware of the disbelief and criticism that other people have of her (as she has mentioned in interviews and in her parting speech during the farewell concert).
    • Eunbi to a lesser extent as well, given her preference for wearing a lot of platform shoes. Played for Laughs when she sheepishly admits over Private Mail that she wants to grow taller after a practice session with SinB, YooA, and Ryujin for their collaboration stage in 2020.
    • Yujin and Wonyoung, on the other hand, have been very conscious of their tall frames. The two often bickered early on to compete with who was shorter between them and felt embarrassed about their heights since it can occasionally draw unwanted attention and make it more difficult for them to find clothes that would fit them. Wonyoung had even admitted wanting to stop growing during her guest appearance in Running Man. Fortunately being slowly averted as of 2021 as they've started to embrace their heights more.
  • Insistent Terminology: Sakura prefers to be called Kkura, not Kura note  or Kora. Some members (especially Hyewon) enjoy teasing her over this.
  • The Knights Who Say "Squee!": Despite being professional idols themselves, the girls are not above admitting their unabashed admiration for other idol seniors and juniors (the most vocal example being Sakura towards Irene, for example). And that's not even going into how much the IZ*ONE girls adore their own members/friends in their natural element just like any average fan, like with Chaeyeon or Yuri for example.
    • The Korean members have frequently expressed their awe at the professionalism of the Japanese members (who, by technical virtue of their experience within the idol industry - albeit in Japan rather than South Korea, are pretty much senior idols to nearly the entire Korean line who have spent most of their lives as trainees).
    • Yujin once admitted to having admired Chaeyeon's dancing skills back when she used to perform/compete with her sister after watching them on TV within an old reality competition show before eventually ending up in the same group as her.
  • The Leader: Before their debut, Eunbi acted as their unofficial leader. On the second episode of IZ*ONE CHU, Eunbi was unanimously selected to be their official leader after a prank where members said Chaeyeon should become the leader. Outside of her official leadership title, however, Eunbi more often than not behaves just as playfully as the rest (much to the occasional chagrin of the younger members).note
    • During Japanese showcases and speeches, it's usually Sakura who takes the lead instead.
  • Like a Duck Takes to Water: A rather punny example with Yena who was trained to be a dancer yet became a main vocalist in Produce48 and eventually got assigned the position of main rapper (despite having zero prior experience in rap) once she became a member of IZ*ONE.
    • Another example is the J-line trio who have adapted well to their Korean media appearances, especially Nako who's noted to have near-native levels of enunciation and vocabulary when conversing in Korean.
    • Minjoo is steadily becoming this from her initially poor self-confidence and lack of training during Produce 48, to the point that some people doubted her capacity to keep up and/or stand out once she debuted as part of IZ*ONE. Lo and behold, within less than a few years, she has managed to rise not only in popularity but also in skills and confidence to the point that she's starting to be pushed as something of a third center alongside Wonyoung and Sakura since their Buenos Aires promotions.
  • Like an Old Married Couple:
  • Meaningful Name: IZ*ONE is made up of ‘IZ’ - a numeronym of 12 - and ‘ONE’ showing how the twelve members become one. And the ‘*’ in between symbolises the astrological signs of the zodiac.
  • No Sense of Personal Space: Hyewon apparently has no sense of initial apprehension towards interacting with others, even strangers. As early as their first variety show, she's shown affectionately hugging most of the other members (who she's known for a few months at best). They all find it endearing.
  • No Social Skills: The self-admitted awkward introverts in the group include Minjoo, who's often mistaken as being younger than her actual age because she's too polite and shy to interact with people outside of her own group, as well as Sakura who admits she would much rather spend time indoors or encounter friends who are more willing to manage conversations far better than her. Ironically, the two aforementioned girls are among the more popular members who have done plenty of solo jobs/promotions.
    • A downplayed example with Wonyoung, who is not particularly shyer than any of her older members, but simply prefers not to seek friendships outside of IZ*ONE because she'd rather devote and spend all her time with them. Like the above examples, she also gets a lot of solo work and is otherwise remarkably good at integrating with other casts when appearing in other shows/media.
  • Only Child: Averted; all the members have at least one older or younger sibling.
  • Only Sane Man: Hitomi who is quiet, mature, and is considered the only "braincell" note  of the group. She was elected as the 01s' leader because she's the only one level-headed enough to reign them in.
  • Only Six Faces: Yuri, Yena, and Chaewon are often said to look so alike, even some of the other members can't tell them apart. Their unit is called "Joyuriz" (because Yuri appears to be a physical hybrid, or the "middle face" between Chaewon and Yena). Steadily being averted as they've adapted more different hairstyles / hair colors and outfit choices over time.
    • There is a running joke among the fanbase that Nako and Yujin can resemble other members (including each other), and that there are moments when Hyewon and Eunbi or Hyewon and Minjoo would look like each other as well.
  • Ooh, Me Accent's Slipping: Busan native Yuri tends slip back into her stronger dialect when agitated or excited, and it's often combined with Motor Mouth tendencies when she gets into impassioned arguments with the others.
    • Steadily averted with the Japanese members over time as they started out with distinct speaking accents when talking in Korean. Knowing Brothers lampshades this when the male cast members are tasked to identify the Japanese members within the group when their nametags are initially concealed to much chaos.
  • Photographic Memory: Hyewon boasts an exceptional memory for everyone's preferences from food and milk tea orders to gift preferences. The others are always pleasantly surprised when they make an offhand comment about something they wanted, only for Hyewon to nonchalantly gift it to them some time later.
  • Rags to Riches: Jo Yuri who came from the provincial area of Busan to metropolitan Seoul in order to chase her dream of becoming an Idol Singer. Her family could not afford to send her to the city and pay for her training, so Yuri instead opted to save up her own money (through deeds such as selling her clothes and possessions as well as quitting piano lessons) to audition for her first program Idol School before landing a winning spot at PRODUCE 48.
  • Savvy Guy, Energetic Girl: Same-gender friendship example with Yuri and Yena. Despite being very affectionate, Yuri is relatively calm and well-put when contrasted with the physically distant yet loud and childish Yena.
    • That being said, it's a downplayed example as Yuri can sass and mess with the other members (e.g. Minjoo and Nako) when she's in a playful mood.
  • Sleeps with Both Eyes Open: Sakura’s bad sleeping habit, as exposed by the members on the first episode of IZ*ONE CHU. As of 2020, it appears that she still hasn't gotten over this habit as Nako keeps photos of Sakura sleeping like this on her phone and Sakura herself jokes about having to dress up as Sleeping Beauty despite not being a beauty while sleeping at all.
  • Speech Impediment: Eunbi has a noticeable lisp while speaking and performing, and the others are not above lightheartedly teasing her over it. Wonyoung also briefly had a (much subtler) lisp when she was still wearing braces.
  • Spell My Name With An S:
    • Minjoo’s name is commonly spelled as ‘Minju’, as seen on the ‘1000%’ performance on Produce48 and her microphone on Show! Music Core, due to the romanization of Hangul. Minjoo herself spells it as ‘Minjoo’ and her pre-debut works list her name as such.
      • As of 2022, it appears that she's officially stuck with 'Minju', if her Instagram username is anything to go by.
    • Yujin was also a victim of this dilemma early on with some Western sites referring to her as 'Yoojin'. Jury's still out, however, on how her last name should be romanized since some sources use 'Ahn' and others use 'An' (though it should be noted that her agency appears to favor 'An' as of 2022).
  • Spoiled Sweet: It's highly rumored that some of the members hail from rich or affluent backgrounds, but all of them are nonetheless extremely polite and caring towards the other members who come from low or middle-class familiesnote .
  • The Stoic: Hitomi, partly due to the language barrier and partly due to her relatively introverted nature. Don't take her for a pushover, though.
    • Sakura on occasion as well is noticeably more subdued in their appearances, but she admits it's more because of her awkward nature than anything else.
    • Hyewon is also often mistaken for being shy because of her limited expressions, but that's more because of her own odd line of thinking. More than anything, she's closer to being a Mellow Fellow.
  • Team Mom:
    • Eunbi. Chaeyeon as well despite only being the fifth eldest, she commonly acts motherlike to the other members. On IZ*ONE CHU, she was affectionately called the mom of the second dorm.
    • Eunbi once revealed on a radio show interview that if she weren't the leader of IZ*ONE, the designated Team Mom would be Chaeyeon and Team Dad would be Sakura... to which the hosts joked that Eunbi would be the grandma.
  • Those Two Girls: Early on, Japanese members Nako and Hitomi were often paired together not only in variety show appearances but also in line distributions in their discography due to similarly high vocal tones. Steadily being averted in more recent comebacks.
    • Also early on, Yena and Yuri were treated like this as carryover from their relationship dynamics in Produce 48.
  • Totally Radical: Eunbi who was born in 1995 shows mild signs of this. She makes a lot of jokes and references that the younger kids don't understand, and members make it no secret about teasing her with her age or her attempts to seem younger.
(during a Vlive session with Minjoo) Eunbi: What does "boomer Eunbi" mean?
(after being tasked to act out a drunk scene for a variety show) Other members: Oh, this'll be good! Eunbi unnie's probably the only one out of us who's already experienced getting completely wasted!
  • Trademark Favorite Food: A given for a group of 12 growing kids. While each member has a known preference, their go-to foods are often the more filling/heavier ones such as meat and seafoods. They have also joked that, despite their different palates, there tends to be a "trendy" meal that everyone commonly craves at certain points.
    • Chaeyeon is known to be very fond of eating sweet potatoes, a love shared by her sister.
    • Hitomi is fond of cheese and bread, which is a bit of a shame when she discovered in 2021 that she has some level of gluten intolerance.
    • Nako likes ice cream a lot. In fact, one of her birthday wishes is to be able to eat 100 pints in one sitting.
      • Related to this, a member unit known as Minchodannote  consisting of Chaewon, Nako, and Wonyoung like, you guessed it, mint chocolate ice cream (in contrast to the rest of the group who are somewhere between neutral and strong dislike for the controversial flavor). (Note that their preference for mint chocolate starts and ends with ice cream.)
    • Yujin has a preference for eating tteokbokki (rice cakes).
    • Wonyoung and Minju are known to be voracious meat lovers; other members have said that they usually turn to either of the two to discover the most delicious barbecue and steak spots because of this.
    • Eunbi has repeatedly confessed to loving all kinds of fish and seafoods; she has even admitted to saying that her childhood dream was to marry a fisherman!
    • A running joke with Sakura is that when she starts liking a particular food, she will eat that dish and almost only that dish for weeks on straight, as demonstrated by her cravings for sannakji (baby octopus sashimi) and dumpling ramyeon.
    • As revealed on Knowing Brothers and various fansigns, each member has a very specific and particular favorite milk tea flavor that their managers are often left flustered and end up mixing/messing up the orders so Hyewon does most of the ordering in their stead.
  • Vitriolic Best Buds: Yena and Sakura who are treated as the group's Tom and Jerry are often trying to provoke the other with constant pestering and pranking. The '01 liners (Minjoo, Nako, Hitomi, and Yuri) also share a similar dynamic, especially Minjoo and Yuri who bicker a lot on- and off-camera (except for Hitomi who, by virtue of being the most mature enough to break up their fights, became their unofficial leader).

Tropes in IZ*ONE's songs and music videos
  • Attention Whore: A downplayed example with Highlight where the singers attempt to capture the audience's attention with their elegant charms.
  • Boastful Rap: Some rap breaks/verses (e.g. La vie en Rose) come off as this when IZ*ONE sings about how much they've bloomed.
  • Caps Lock: Their group name (IZ*ONE) and their "flower trilogy" albums (COLOR*IZ, HEART*IZ, BLOOM*IZ) are stylised as such.
  • Cover Version:
    • COLOR*IZ has IZ*ONE versions of songs performed in Produce 48, namely "We Together", "Suki ni Nacchaudarou?", and "Yume wo Miteiru Aida".
    • IZ*ONE have also performed songs from Produce 48’s debut concept evaluation on multiple stages, most frequently "Rumor".
    • The members also covered songs from other seasons of Produce 101 itself, such as I.O.I’s "Pick Me" and "Very Very Very" to WannaOne’s "Pick Me (Nayana)" and "Energetic".
    • For various end-year award shows, IZ*ONE had performed TVXQ's Mirotic, H.O.T.'s Happiness, SNSD's The Boys, and (again) Wanna One's Energetic.
    • Yena and Hitomi were selected to perform BOUNCE (Dubstep Ver.) with seniors from various groups including MonstaX, TWICE and GOT7.
    • Chaewon collaborated with Moonbyul of Mamamoo fame to perform Selfish.
    • A norm for their appearances on Immortal Songs:
    • Their first online concert Oneiric Theater saw the girls performing in special unit stages:
      • "3Won" note  performed Orange Caramel's "Catallena"
      • "01z" note  performed Park Jiyoon's "Coming of Age Ceremony".
      • "Kkubi" note  performed Red Velvet - Irene and Seulgi's "Monster".
      • "Ace Line" note  performed Kehlani's "Gangsta".
    • Their second online concert ONE, The Story had the girls perform in cover unit stages for the first day:
      • Eunbi performed "Señorita".
      • Hitomi performed "All Hands On Deck" before joining Eunbi for a reprise of "Señorita".
      • Chaewon, Yuri, and Yujin performed "Adrenaline".
      • Sakura, Chaeyeon, and Minju performed a traditional instrument rendition of Full Moon which gained praise from the original artist herself.
      • Hyewon, Yena, Nako, and Wonyoung performed a dance cover of Sunny before doing a full performance of Roly Poly.
    • Eunbi, Yena, Chaeyeon, and Chaewon covered BoA's "Atlantis Princess" for MAMA 2020.
    • The abovementioned members (minus Chaewon) performed Into The New World alongside members of (G)-IDLE and Weki Meki.
    • All twelve members participated in the song remake of Korean classic 3!4! by Roo'ra with an MV here.
    • Most of the ARCADE specials consist of self-produced song/dance covers in celebration of a milestone, like a member's birthday or a special promise with fans. Some of the girls are also open to uploading brief cover performances on their social media pages.
    • Par for the course with five members (spoilers in the note!) note  appearing on Masked Singer with live vocal performances.
    • Also quite common for the girls to perform cover stages during year-end music festivals, like Uhm Junghwa's Festival, or have specific members join special stage units such as Baek Yerin's Across The Universe, Apink's I Don't Know, a medley of Criminal/Rollercoaster/Rain On Me, NCT U's Boss, and more.
  • Darker and Edgier:
    • IZ*ONE is best known for their elegant and cute concepts, but some songs stand out as rather different in tone/melody, like Highlight and Daydream which sound like they belong on a fashion runway.
    • Of their Korean title tracks, Oneiric Diary's Secret Story of the Swan is the most different-sounding with cinematic EDM tones closer to their B-sides "Rumor" and "AYAYAYA" than, say, "La vie en Rose" or "Violeta".
    • Anytime they do special stages, their choices often tend to be on the mature spectrum (but are also often well-received by fans). See for example their "MIROTIC", "Coming of Age Ceremony", "Monster", and "Gangsta" performances.
    • Of their Korean albums, One-reeler thematically comes off like this as a whole: its visuals are a dull cream, grayish blue, and maroon (with blue being the main motif) and all of its songs barring one (Island) have either darker musical tones or cover more sentimental lyrics. Harsher in Hindsight once you realize that it was actually their final album, released five months before the disbandment date.
  • Electro House: Rumor (originally performed in Produce48 as a concept evaluation stage) and AYAYAYA (originally performed as an event-exclusive unit song in the Eyes On Me concert tour before being re-recorded as a full track on BLOOM*IZ) have been explicitly described as moombahton tracks. Highlight on the other hand is officially classified as a deep house track. Unsurprisingly, these three songs also fit under Hotter and Sexier for their more intense melodies and choreographies.
  • Fairytale Motifs: Following their transition from the "flower trilogy", IZ*ONE's latest comeback Oneiric Diary follows the concept of "fantasy", "dreams", and "fairytales", as most evident in their title track Secret Story of the Swan which takes direct inspiration from Swan Lake.
  • Flower Motifs: Their first three Korean releases are collectively known as the "flower trilogy", with each album containing a track which directly references a flower. Their title tracks frequently utilize flower/blooming/growth metaphors and choreographies/formations See for yourself.
  • Funk: Merry-Go-Round with its synth grooves and unique sound, although the song itself is closer to funk/discotheque pop more than anything else.
  • Genre Roulette: As mentioned on the official site, Oneiric Diary's tracks go from cinematic EDM ("Secret Story of the Swan"), to bubblegum pop ("Pretty"), to discotheque funk ("Merry-Go-Round"), to moombahton dance ("Rococo"), and finally a power ballad ("With*One"). note
  • The Golden Age of Hollywood: In contrast to Oneiric Diary's implicit Swan Lake influences, One-reeler utilizes film reel motifs to simultaneously evoke the image of grandiosity and nostalgia.
  • Gratuitous Foreign Language: English for many, many songs, French for "La vie en Rose" and "Buenos Aires" (which also contains a bit of Gratuitous Spanish).
    • Gratuitous Latin appears in BLOOM*IZ's recurring phrase, "Luce in altis".note
    • Gratuitous French reappears in the opening track of One-reeler, "Mise-en-scène".
  • The Hedonist: The core concept of their Japanese B-side Neko Ni Naritai ("I Wanna Be A Cat") which has lyrics talking about living a life free of worries and responsibilities. It's cuter and chiller than it sounds.
  • Hotter and Sexier: Older members are not particularly shy about performing more mature songs (as Produce 48 shows), but some of IZ*ONE songs count as this, like Rumor and AYAYAYA which were performed as sub-units for a long time because the younger members were not allowed to do the more provocative choreography.
    • The entirety of the "Coming of Age Ceremony" unit stage in Oneiric Theater revolved around the idea of the 01z kids doing a mature concept as a rite passage of adulthood.
    • Sequence from One-reeler appears to be following in Highlight's footsteps with a decidedly more mature routine. O Sole Mio from the same album follows a similar motif as Rumor and Ayayaya note  but it's downplayed in that it does not have a choreography to fully show its power yet.
    • Most of the cover performances in "ONE, The Story" Day 1 count as this, including Eunbi's "Señorita", Hitomi's "All Hands On Deck", and MinKkuChaen's "Full Moon" stages.
    • For "ONE, The Story" Day 2, there is the "DAYDREAM" performance by Eunbi, Chaeyeon, Minju, and Yujin.
  • Japanese Pop Music: Captain Obvious aside, their Japanese title tracks have a distinct sound more remniscient of their "sister group" AKB48 compared to Japanese releases from most K-pop groups. Notably, there is no obvious motif in the pattern of Japanese title tracks compared to the flower/blooming theme of the Korean tracks, but the sound and choreography are both still uniquely IZ*ONE's.
  • Korean Pop Music: Again, a given. In the growing trends of girl-crush versus bubblegum pop concepts in this side of the music industry, IZ*ONE mostly chooses to focus on the elegance concept which is like middle ground, while the other concepts are tackled more prominently in their B-side tracks.
  • Likes Older Women: Presumably the love interest in "Toshihita Boyfriend" ("Younger Boyfriend"), but the age gap between the female singer and their boyfriend is intentionally made ambiguous as the song focuses more on how the boy acts more emotionally mature for his age compared to the girl.
  • Lyrical Dissonance: "Gokigen Sayonara" (which can be translated as "Fond Farewell" or "Good-Bye") due to the happy melody and the tearjerking lyrics/themes about parting and inevitable separation.
    • Many of their upbeat-sounding songs are also quite guilty of this, such as "Up"/"Haneul Wiro", "Yummy Summer"note , and "Slow Journey"note .
  • Meaningful Echo: The choreography of One-reeler's lead track "Panorama" incorporates key dance moves from all of their previous Korean title tracks up to that point. note
  • Our Vampires Are Different: The concept for their second Japanese comeback with the aptly-titled Vampire. The showcase for this release had the girls film a short movie where they portrayed vampire sisters masquerading as idol singers.
  • One-Word Title: Several tracks, such as "Colors", "Memory", "Spaceship", "Someday", and "Daydream", to name some.
  • Power Ballad: "Really Like You" from HEART*IZ, "Someday" from BLOOM*IZ, and "With*One" from Oneiric Diary. Interestingly, all three songs had IZ*ONE members directly involved in their production ("Really Like You" had lyrics co-composed by Minjoo and Hitomi; "Someday" was composed and written by Yuri; and "With*One" had a melody composed by Eunbi and lyrics written by all 12 members as a dedicated fansong).
  • Retraux: Toshishita Boyfriend and Target from Buenos Aires seem to have been shot to resemble a 90s music video, complete with low-quality shots and adjusted aspect ratios.
    • The special dance performance video for Pretty from Oneiric Diary follows a similar 90's or 00's bubblegum aesthetic like Toshishita Boyfriend, complete with a gaming arcade/roller skating rink set and colorful video transitions.
    • The entire concept of One-reeler appears to be based around a throwback to the The Golden Age of Hollywood.
  • Self-Empowerment Anthem: Unlike most of their contemporaries, many of the group's songs (both title tracks and B-sides) with self-love or empowerment rather than love for others. The most prominent example is FIESTA from BLOOM*IZ which talks about their growth, made especially more meaningful with the circumstances surrounding the track's (and its accompanying album's) release.
  • Solemn Ending Theme: The last two original songs of their discography which go unreleased but were performed on both days of their final concert, "Lesson" (a Japanese song produced by Yena, performed on Day 1) and "Parallel Universe/Only One" (a Korean song produced by Eunbi, performed on Day 2).
  • Something about a Rose: Their debut title track, "La vie en Rose" not only references the red flower in its title but also in its lyrics and key choreography. IZ*ONE's live performances in general also often incorporate a generous amount of rose petals, flower imagery in the backdrop, and other props that evoke a floral garden motif.
    • SO CURIOUS, a B-side from BLOOM*IZ that was originally unveiled as a concert-original song during the Eyes On Me tour, also involves the use of a prop rose in its choreographed stage performances.
  • Throw It In!: The girls are rather fond of switching up their choreographies from time to time and are not averse to pulling pranks on each other onstage. Famously, some of the SO CURIOUS unit members had an ongoing prank war in every promotion performance as one of the steps usually involved certain members handing over a prop rose to the person next to them, but the rose almost never makes it the same way towards the intended recipient whether on purpose or otherwise. During the last week of SSOTS promotions, the girls had also taken to a habit of surprising fans by switching iconic gestures with different members as well.
  • Wholesome Crossdresser: A very cute example with Toshishita Boyfriend where Wonyoung, Yena, and Chaewon played the male lover role for Chaewon, Yuri, and Hitomi respectively. note
  • Written by Cast Member: A fair amount of their discography involves the girls in terms of composing, lyrics writing and even producing. All 12 members of IZ*ONE were the credited lyricists for the fan song With*One from Oneiric Diary. Other than that, nearly all members have contributed significantly to the production of at least one song and are duly registered KOMCA and RIAJ artistsnote :
    • Eunbi works with a production team called "Psycho Rabbit" to create songs. They produced and composed With*One. Likewise, Eunbi has credits for composing and writing SPACESHIP from BLOOM*IZ. Finally, she wrote and produced the "ONE, The Story"-exclusive fan song "Only One"/"Parallel Universe" which was premiered on the second day of the concert.
    • Sakura has helped co-write lyrics for Love Bubble with Minju (Vampire) and adapted lyrics for both the Japanese versions of Secret Story of the Swan with Nako (Oneiric Diary) and FIESTA by herself (TWELVE). Finally, she wrote the lyrics by herself and co-composed the melody for Yummy Summer (TWELVE).
    • Yena produced the "ONE, The Story"-exclusive fan song "Lesson" which was unveiled on the first day of the concert.
    • Chaeyeon is credited as having adapted the Korean lyrics for Gokigen Sayonara (HEART*IZ).
    • Minju co-wrote Really Like You with Hitomi (HEART*IZ), adapted the Korean lyrics for Neko ni Naritai (HEART*IZ), co-wrote Love Bubble with Sakura (Vampire), and co-wrote You & I (BLOOM*IZ).
    • Chaewon co-wrote and co-composed Slow Journey (One-reeler).
    • Nako adapted the Japanese versions for Secret Story of the Swan with Sakura (Oneiric Diary) and for Violeta by herself (TWELVE).
    • Hitomi co-wrote Really Like You with Minju (HEART*IZ) and adapted the Japanese version lyrics for La vie en Rose (TWELVE). Additionally, she wrote the lyrics for both the Korean and Japanese versions of Merry-Go-Round by herself (Oneiric Diary).
    • Yuri wrote the lyrics by herself and co-composed Someday (BLOOM*IZ).
    • Wonyoung co-wrote the lyrics for Dreamlike (BLOOM*IZ).
  • You Are Not Alone: Along with their empowerment/growth songs, this also shows up in a lot of their B-sides, particularly the slow ballads. Crowning examples include YOU & I, SOMEDAY, and With*One, the last of which is a fan song written by all 12 members out of gratitude for their fans.note

Tropes in IZ*ONE's notable guesting appearances / variety show contents / miscellaneous activities

  • Bad "Bad Acting": The "death scenes" in IZ*ONE CHU Season 4 whenever someone gets shot.
  • Bad Liar: IZ*ONE CHU: Secret Friends gives the girls a mission of taking care of a fellow member in secret and making sure that they "move the other person's heart" through their actions. None of them make for particularly convincing liars, and over half of them manage to (correctly) deduce whose friend is whose even before the first two episodes are over, with a few exceptions.
  • Beware the Quiet Ones: Hitomi is normally very affable and polite, but pushing her to the limits brings out some surprisingly (and hilariously) savage remarks. Victims of her "savagery" usually include Yujin, Eunbi, and her fellow '01 liners (Minjoo, Nako, and Yuri), though none of them are really treated with seriousness.
(after Yujin kept pestering her about having a boyfriend) Hitomi: AHN YUJIN, DON'T MESS WITH YOUR UNNIE!!
(when asked about other members' unusual habits) Hitomi: Eunbi unnie is weird... she sends a lot of senseless pictures on our group chat, and then she goes around the dorm randomly yelling "IZ*ONE!" [in an announcer's tone].
  • Broke Episode: The Eat-Ting Trip series is framed as one for the overall concept: Each season, the girls visit a city outside of Seoulnote  to experience the local cuisine and activities on the condition that they will be given a very limited spending budget by the producers (usually earned through variety team or individual competitions).
  • Call-Back: A skit revealed at their show con, has Yuri acting coldly towards Yena. The skit ends with a paper on the ground which questions what “dating only” means and has “Marriage X Dating O” written on it - a callback to Produce 48 where Yena claimed she wouldn’t marry Yuri, only date.
    • Gets another Call-Back in 2021 when MC Jaejae teases the two about this old joke at the UNIVERSE Valentine's concert showcase, only to be met by whistles, laughter, and a lot of redfaced denial.
  • Candid Camera Prank: Since just naming Eunbi the official leader would be too boring, the members set up a prank in which some say the position should go to Chaeyeon. Tears ensue when the members unanimously vote for Eunbi, presenting her with a premade plaque and revealing the prank.
  • Cheaters Never Prosper: On occasion, the girls are not above using underhanded tricks to win in the games (usually involving food). Nine times out of ten, they'll face some sort of divine retribution almost immediately after.
  • The Chew Toy:
IZ*ONE, after Minjoo messes up: Minjoo ga TTO~!! note
    • Yena as well to a lesser extent because of her bouts of childishness and overly trusting personality. Like Minjoo, though, they treat that less a nuisance and more of an endearing character trait.
  • Competition Freak: All of the girls have extremely competitive personalities especially where high stakes are involved (and by "high stakes", we mean food).
  • Copycat Mockery: A mission in IZ*ONE CHU Season 3 involves the girls switching choreography parts and working together to pull of a flawless performance on short notice, but it briefly turns into a hilarious gesture impersonation contest towards the end. Explored again in an episode of IZ*ONE's Eat-Ting Trip Season 2, where they are tasked to imitate another member's gestures and behaviors while wearing their clothing. Without a doubt, Hilarity Ensues.
  • Cordon Bleugh Chef: Sakura's cooking skills are described as odd by her members (e.g. making egg sandwiches with the middle bread cut out for the scrambled eggs to be cooked in, adding a lot of sour plum into their onigiri dishes) but surprisingly delicious.
    • Ditto for Minjoo, who's perceived to be a Lethal Chef based on the odd way she prepares ingredients note  but was shown to cook edible food in a cameo at her friend/labelmate Kriesha Chu's reality show pre-debut.
  • Cutting the Knot: There have been shows where they are required to solve a complicated puzzle or complete a mission but instead go straight for the final step. They are not above destroying a set prop or looking at places where there are prominently angled cameras present.
  • Genre Savvy: By the second season of most of their reality/variety shows, the girls often lampshade all the expected/scripted segments and usually negotiate terms with the production staff (usually by comically arguing with the producers) so everybody somehow wins.
  • Good with Numbers: Hyewon, who spent a good amount of screentime in one IZ*ONE CHU: Secret Friends episode solving a math textbook even though they were only supposed to be pretending as students. In a different variety show appearance later, she admits that she likes solving problems (or rather, the feeling of being able to solve problems) from time to time to relieve stress.
    • Chaeyeon is quite fast in mental math too, apparently, if the laser tag episode in IZ*ONE CHU: ON:TACT is anything to go by.
  • Lethal Chef: In Season 1 of IZ*ONE CHU, the girls deliver homecooked lunches to their Produce48 mentors and family members. Judging by the recipients' reactions, it's a good thing that it's the thought that counts.
    • Explored again in Season 3 when they create their own smoothie recipe while working part-time at a cafe. It's not so much as the food and drinks they make are bad, but everyone wants to add all their favorite ingredients at once, resulting in an appalling mismatch of flavors.
  • The Load: Poor Minjoo gets treated (jokingly) like the plague whenever members need to team up for group competitions. Hyewon and Sakura are also occasionally treated as the weak links in their games because of their low physical attributes.
    • To a lesser extent, Yuri and Hitomi are also considered as "weaker" teammates in physical competitions given that the former is self-admittedly bad at sports and the latter is often too light to even stand her ground. (They fare much better in games of mental skill and luck.) Nako, as well, is often at a disadvantage when it comes to missions of physical strength, for obvious reasons.
  • Non-Indicative Name: Cheating Trip (stylized as ChEat-Ting Trip) is not a show about cheating (although the girls aren't exactly above using underhanded tactics to win the games), but it's named after its predecessor Eat-Ting Trip but filmed during Chuseok.note
  • Paintball Episode: The highlight of IZ*ONE CHU's fourth season is an intense game of laser tag complete with airsoft training courtesy of Navy SEAL Ken Rhee.
  • Refuge in Audacity: Combining 12 unique personalities can do that to a group. Nothing says "IZ*ONE" like a session with blatant cheating or negotiating during (non-serious) competitive activities or rule-breaking and spoiler-dropping at nearly every possible moment. Their streams are often notorious for being difficult to edit due to the amount of rules which they unintentionally (and sometimes intentionally) violate, to the point that they're the shining example of what not to do during Vlive streaming!
  • Road Trip Plot: The framing device for the Eat-Ting Trip series (and its Spin-Off Ch Eat-Ting Trip). Season 1 has the girls traveling to Sokcho, whereas Season 2 sees them visiting Yeosu and Season 3 brings them to Mungyeong.
  • RPG Episode: One dorm VLIVE accidentally turned into a sudden livestream because Yena was playing MapleStory while the others were having dinner. In a matter of a few minutes, Korean fans on the same server were able to quickly recognize her character and promptly turned her day-off gaming into an online fanmeeting.
  • So Long, Suckers!: Hitomi's farewell video to an AKB48 Team 8 show where she was a regular is hilariously savage.
I'll be going to this very big place called Korea. Do your very best there in the little corner of Chiba!
    • For context, the episode was supposed to be a heartwarming send-off by her fellow Team 8 members but (as expected of a variety show) they only ended up showing off embarrassing pictures and largely irrelevant stories of her. Less than ten minutes before the episode ends, it turns out that the staff prepared a video of Hitomi giving her reply, to the others' shock. Since then, the "little corner of Chiba" comment has become a Running Gag in the show (which is already Self-Deprecating about its low budget from the very start anyway).
Oda Erina: Please return my sentimental feelings!
  • Spiritual Successor: Eat-Ting Trip has one in the form of ChEat-Ting Tripnote : Helmed by the same production crew with a similar format as Eat-Ting Trip, three former members of IZ*ONE are reunited to travel a tourist destination within Korea and challenge missions in order to earn special privileges or additional allowance to afford delicious foods and other locally unique activities. Unique to the spin-off is that most other members are relegated to brief, episodic voice cameos Once a Season due to everyone's busy schedules.
    • Season 1 stars Hyewon, Chaeyeon, and Yuri visiting Gyeongju.
    • Season 2 stars Eunbi, Hyewon, and Yuri hanging out in Gunsan.
    • Season 3 will feature Eunbi, Chaeyeon, and Hitomi (re)visiting Sokcho, the locale for Eat-Ting Trip Season 1.
  • Supreme Chef: Eunbi and Chaeyeon. Which is probably why it's a good thing that they live in separate dorms, or else the kids wouldn't get to eat anything decent.
  • Take a Third Option: In games where IZ*ONE gets pitted against each other, they usually work together regardless of alliances (and despite being super competitive at first) before subsequently share the reward (especially if it's food) in the end.
  • Theme Tune:
    • "O’ My!", a B-side on COLOR*IZ, was the theme tune to IZ*ONE CHU’s opening for seasons 1 and 2.
    • Fantasy Campus and newer shows use "Eyes" and "So Curious" instead.
    • Corresponding to the promotion eras in which they were filmed/released, IZ*ONE's Eat-Ting Trip series on Youtube / IDOLLIVE uses "FIESTA" for Season 1, "Panorama" for Season 2, and "Gokigen Sayonara" for Season 3.
  • True Companions: Their reality series IZ*ONE CHU is dedicated towards documenting the group's growth from 12 skilled individuals who were brought together by chance into a highly synchronized/talented team that considers each other like family.
  • Wrong Genre Savvy: In Season 2, Chaeyeon, big time when guessing the identity of her secret friend.
