Come on, little lady, why the frown?
In the last ten thousand years, you're the first one to change this town!
Lucifer, "Finale"

The Armies of Heaven descend upon hell, but this time they are met with heavy resistance.

Tropes

  • 11th-Hour Costume Change: For the final battle against the angels, several characters wear new clothes; Charlie trades her suit for a red and black dress, Vaggie wears a grey bodysuit and ties her hair in a ponytail, Angel Dust and Cherri Bomb wear some striped suits and Sir Pentious decides to wear a 19th century military uniform. Even Adam wears a different tunic, with more spikes and the color purple.
  • Accidental Hero: Niffty just happens to kill Adam in the process of following her orders to stab any random angel she sees, and is then treated like a hero by 666 News.
  • Accidental Pun: During the battle, Husk states in frustration "These fuckin' Angels won't stop coming!" getting a laugh out of Angel Dust. Husk admits he walked into that one.
  • Achievements in Ignorance: By making a Heroic Sacrifice, Sir Pentious inadvertently manages to become an Ascended Demon and go to Heaven, which not even he saw coming.
  • Affectionate Nickname: Niffty dubs Alastor "King Roach", which the latter finds utterly adorable.
  • Air Quotes: Adam uses air quotes when he says "Nice voice" to Alastor, visually indicating his mockery.
  • Alas, Poor Villain: Adam's Villainous Breakdown shows him as more pitiful than anything, the cast looking annoyed he won't shut up, but then expressing shock more than anything at Adam being stabbed In the Back by Niffty, Lucifer acting awkward when pointing out he has a blade through his chest, while Vaggie is smiling happily at seeing him die. Adam's death is treated with a slight bit of somberness though thanks to Lute's anguished reaction, cradling his head in her arm as he gives one last content smile towards his friend before dying, and Lute being forced to abandon his body after Lucifer and Charlie tell her to leave, only being able to take his halo as proof of his death.
  • Always a Bigger Fish:
    • Adam wipes the floor with every cast member; even Alastor can only lasts a few minutes before Adam's raw power injures him enough to force him to run. Just when it looks like Adam might turn the whole battle around himself, Lucifer shows up and lets everyone see why he alone has the title of King of Hell as he trounces Adam, easily.
    • To a lesser extent, Charlie manages to spear Adam's shoulder and stop his full powered punch cold (to his shock), showcasing that despite her being hesitant to use it, she does indeed command a greater deal of power above mortal sinners, Overlords and possibly lower angels.
  • Ambiguous Situation:
    • Why Lilith made a deal with Adam and how she's been in Heaven, or wherever she is, is unclear, as is whether or not this is indeed where she's been for the last seven years.
    • What the qualification was that allowed Sir Pentious to ascend to Heaven at the very end is unknown, with even him being confused as to why he's not just dead. Whether it's because he died in Hell via an act of selflessness or something else entirely is unclear.
  • An Arm and a Leg: Lute gets her left arm pinned down under fallen rubble, giving Vaggie an opportunity to kill her. Rather than take it, Vaggie opts for the Cruel Mercy of letting Lute live knowing that the "failure" spared her. Lute is so enraged by this, and fanatically committed to the Exorcist's goal of purging sinners, that the second Vaggie's back is turned, Lute yanks on her injured limb until it tears clean off so she can quickly rejoin the fight, managing to make up for the handicap with sheer bloodlust and ferocity.
  • Apologetic Attacker: Charlie says sorry to every angel who attacks her. Vaggie asks her to stop.
  • Ax-Crazy: Lute's fanatical enjoyment of killing sinners gets to the point that even Adam tells her to tone it down a little when she gets carried away during a pre-battle Rousing Speech. When Vaggie spares her life as a Cruel Mercy when she becomes pinned underneath debris, she's both so committed to the cause and pissed off at that fact that she doesn't blink at mutilating herself to get free and continue the fight, making up for such a grievous injury with sheer feral ferocity.
  • Bad Guys Do the Dirty Work: While Charlie asks for Adam to be spared and Lucifer complies, Niffty, who remains as Ax-Crazy as she was since the start of the series, is the one who kills Adam.
  • Bargain with Heaven: Lilith apparently made a deal with Adam that is rendered void upon his death; the exact terms are still unknown.
  • Bait-and-Switch: The show has placed a lot of focus on Angel Dust's small-steps journey to redemption, with him being the first guest at the hotel and being the focus of Heaven's trial over the potential for sinners to be redeemed, but it's actually Sir Pentious who winds up being the first sinner to become successfully redeemed. Not even he knows what exactly tipped the scales in his favour, with it being implied his Heroic Sacrifice contributed in some manner.
  • Battle Couple: Charlie and Vaggie are constantly fighting side-by-side and working together until they get separated near the climax.
  • Better than Sex: When Vox is watching the battle and sees Alastor about to fight Adam, he shouts that he's "so hard right now!" and when it looks like Adam is about to kill Alastor, he screams that "this is better than sex."
  • Big Badass Battle Sequence: Nearly a third of this season finale's runtime is taken up by the defense of the Hotel from Adam and his Exorcists. Everybody gets to chip in a little bit and contribute at least one cool moment, and their are several shots of the Cannibals engaging the Exorcists in larger-scale skrimishes.
  • Big Damn Heroes: Lucifer arrives at the last moment to help Charlie during her battle with Adam, and the two promptly subject him to a serious Curb-Stomp Battle.
  • Big Damn Kiss:
  • Big Finale Crowd Song: "Finale" caps off the season with a big ensemble number sung by Charlie, Lucifer, Alastor, the rest of the denizens of the Hotel and even Vox and Valentino as Hell looks to the future and the gang survey their handiwork, namely a newly-refurbished and even bigger and grander Hazbin Hotel.
Charlie & Ensemble: We can do this, we'll be better, though redemption may take a while
    Wayward Sinners, clear their ledger

Alastor: And we're doing it with a smile!
Charlie: We'll make a difference, wait and see
Charlie & Vaggie: We're gonna do this, you and me
Everyone: And then tomorrow it will be a fucking happy day in Hell!
  • Bittersweet Ending: The latest Extermination ended with Heaven being conclusively defeated for the first time ever, Adam was killed in the battle along with a large number of Exorcists, the Hazbin Hotel has been rebuilt with Lucifer's official backing, Cherri becomes one of the hotel's residents, and Sir Pentious's Heroic Sacrifice was enough for him to become an Ascended Demon, going to Heaven right in front of Emily and Sera, overjoying the former and shocking the latter by proving it is possible for Sinners to be redeemed. However, there's some bad things that happened as well. The rest of the Hotel is unaware that Sir Pentious is in Heaven. Dazzle, a lot of Sinners from Cannibal Town, and all but one of the Egg Boiz were all killed. The Vees, under the assumption that Alastor was killed, are plotting to make their move now that an Evil Power Vacuum is in effect (with Vox in particular heavily implied to be plotting something involving Niffty). Alastor, shaken by his near-death at Adam's hands, is scheming to free himself from his own leash. And worst of all, despite being down an arm, Lute is now in charge of the Exorcists and going to someone who had made a deal with Adam, intending on having them put a stop to Charlie: Lilith.
  • Bookends:
    • In the pilot, Alastor offered everyone jambalaya after defeating Sir Pentious. After Adam is beaten here, Lucifer offers everyone pancakes in a similar manner.
    • The first song of the season, 'Happy Day In Hell' ends with the lyrics: "Today is gonna be a fucking happy day in hell!", while 'Finale' ends with "Tomorrow will be a fucking happy day in Hell", showing how after everything that has happened Charlie has learned that while change may take time, she has brought genuine hope to her people.
    • The beginning of "Finale" also harkens back to the opening lyrics of "Happy Day in Hell", with Lucifer telling Charlie "you can do this, now I know it" and that she's "changed [his] mind [and] touched their hearts".
    • The pilot ends with Sir Pentious being revealed to be Not Quite Dead after his Curb-Stomp Battle with Alastor, crawling out of a hole in Hell. At the end of this episode, Sir Pentious has yet again escaped certain death, this time by ascending to Heaven.
  • Bow Chicka Wow Wow: When Lucifer taunts Adam that his wives "didn't seem to hate what [Lucifer] had to offer", he follows it up with a "bow-chicka-wow-wow" while moving his arms to suggest a Pelvic Thrust.
  • Break the Haughty: Adam spends the majority of the fight extremely arrogant and condescending as usual, at most expressing annoyance. Once Charlie gets enraged following Sir Pentious's sacrifice and Lucifer shows up, he slowly has a Villainous Breakdown as he's subjected to a No-Holds-Barred Beatdown, feeling pain for the first time, his face exposed behind his now broken mask, and refuses to be shown "mercy", ranting about how he's better than them and should be worshiped by them simply for being the Original Man, too distracted to notice Niffty stabbing him In the Back.
  • Breaking the Fourth Wall: One of the questions on the 666 News crawl near the end of the episode is "When is Season 2 coming out?"
  • Broken Faceplate:
    • Lute's faceplace is knocked off when Vaggie collapses part of the hotel on her.
    • Lucifer breaks Adam's faceplate in half when he punches him, revealing Adam's face to the audience for the first time. The rest is beaten off after Adam makes the mistake of trying to attack Charlie after Lucifer has arrived.
  • Broken Win/Loss Streak: The ending of the Extermination attempt on the Hazbin Hotel sees Hell getting its first victory over the Exorcists. Adam was killed along with a number of Exorcists, Lute lost an arm because of her duel with Vaggie, Lucifer personally intervened in the fight and took a vested interest in his daughter's plan to redeem Sinners thanks to Adam's interference, the victory was broadcast across all of Hell so all the Sinners know that Heaven can be beaten, and Sir Pentious became an Ascended Demon which proves that Charlie's plan can work. A few Sinners also died in the battle against the Exorcists, but by any metric that can be measured, Hell conclusively won the fight for the first time ever.
  • Buffy Speak: Lucifer summarizes Adam getting suddenly stabbed In the Back as "You got something sticking out of your... your thing there."
  • Call-Back:
    • In "Radio Killed the Video Star", Niffty kicked Sir Pentious in the tail and said that he wasn't a "bad boy" after he decided to give the Hotel a legitimate shot. Here, he becomes the first Sinner to be redeemed.
    • Lucifer asking everyone if they're up for pancakes after the Exorcists are defeated echoes Alastor offering everyone jambalaya after he wiped the floor with Sir Pentious in the pilot.
    • Sir Pentious getting sent to Heaven due to how he followed Adam's "guidelines" from "Welcome to Heaven". Act selfless (sacrificed himself to save the Hazbin Hotel), does not steal (He never stole anything and returned the scrap of cloth he snatched from Alastor) and stuck it to the Man (in this case, Adam, the original Man).
    • Sir Pentious saluted Lucifer in "Dad Beat Dad". The Hazbin staff salute a picture of him as part of a Due to the Dead.
    • When Lute tears off her arm pulling herself free of the rubble Vaggie dropped on her, she is shown as a black silhouette on a red background, the same as when she was shown tearing out Vaggie's eye in "Welcome to Heaven".
  • The Cameo:
    • Both Carmilla and Rosie are shown smiling as they hear the broadcast about Charlie's victory.
    • Two of the sinners shown from behind watching Katie Killjoy's broadcast about the end of the Extermination are Baxter, a character originally meant to be part of the main cast before his role was filled by Sir Pentious, and Arackniss, Angel Dust's older brother.
  • Cannot Spit It Out: Sir Pentious tries to confess his feelings for Cherri during the last night celebration before Extermination Day, but his anxiety once again gets the better of him.
    Pentious: Ms. Bomb?...Cherri...?
    Cherri: Yeah?
Pentious: I want to tell you that I...I love...I'd love to wish you good luck in the battle ahead!
    Cherri: ...Ok?
Pentious: You are...have always been a Worthy Opponent...with the most brilliant explosive contraptions I've ever seen...!
    Cherri: Uh...thanks?
Pentious: Anyway, I guess...PLEASE DON'T DIE TOMORROW, OK BYE!
  • Captain Obvious: Lute states the obvious when she observes the shield that Alastor projects around the Hotel to box the Exorcists in, annoying Adam.
Lute: They appear to have some kind of shield, sir!
Adam: Oh? Really? I didn't see this giant fucking shield in front of me, you DUMB BITCH! NO SHIT!
  • Chekhov's Gun: Early in the episode, Charlie gives Niffty a dagger and tells her to stab any angel she sees wth it. After the Extermination is over, Niffty stabs Adam in the back while he's in the middle of his Villainous Breakdown, which kills him.
  • Clothing Damage: A self-inflicted example. Before delivering the final blow to defeat Lute, Vaggie uses her spear to rip off her uniform from her back to let her wings come out.
  • Cluster F-Bomb:
    • When Alastor's summoned creatures crawl up on Adam he lets this out.
Adam: And you're- fuck- fuck you- you red piece of fuck- you mothe- red- fuck! Shut up!
    • When Alastor escapes Adam, Vox is incredibly dissapointed.
Vox: No! Fuck you! Fuck you! Fuck you! Pussy!
  • Comical Coffee Cup: Valentino's reads "Pimpin' not Simpin'".
  • Continuity Nod:
    • Niffty once again freezes on camera while being interviewed for killing Adam.
    • Velvette's picture of Carmilla with the poop emoji filter from "Scrambled Eggs" is used to represent her on Vox's String Theory board.
    • Lucifer can be seen being less than happy at Alastor's return, still not liking the Radio Demon following "Dad Beat Dad".
  • Copycat Mockery: When Adam derides Charlie for risking her life for sinners, she angrily responds, "These sinners are my family!" Adam mockingly repeats her words, making fake sad eyes.
  • Cruel Mercy:
    • Vaggie spares Lute when she has her at spearpoint and the latter is pinned by her arm under debris, not because Lute deserves to live, but so that she'll be stuck knowing the only reason she's still alive is because a "failure" like Vaggie let her live. Unfortunately for Vaggie, she underestimates Lute's determination and ferocity when she uses this opportunity to tear her own arm off to get loose and comes roaring back for Round 2.
Lute: Do it, then. Correct your mistake.
Vaggie: Seriously, you're pathetic, you know that? Ready to die rather than accepting mercy? No, live. Live knowing you only do because I let you, the failure.
    • When a pissed-off Lucifer has smashed Adam into a crater and is giving him a No-Holds-Barred Beatdown, finishing by trying to force-feed him a Holy Hand Grenade, Charlie stops him as Adam is too beaten to be a threat anymore. Lucifer complies just to rub in Adam's inferiority to him even more, furthering his humiliating Villainous Breakdown, but unfortunately for him Niffty is on a stabbing spree for any angelic foe on the ground (dead or alive) and winds up finishing him off In the Back. Multiple times.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle:
    • Sir Pentious charges Adam in his blimp, charging its Wave-Motion Gun in a last-ditch attempt to take him out or die trying. Just before it can fire, Adam vaporizes the blimp and Sir Pentious along with it completely by reflex.
    • Lucifer is easily in control of his fight with Adam, even when he's not taking the Exorcist seriously. When Adam makes the mistake of trying to kill Charlie in front of him, the King of Hell goes full Papa Wolf and gives Adam a much deserved No-Holds-Barred Beatdown.
  • Curb Stomp Cushion:
    • Adam vastly outmatches Alastor in raw power and eventually strikes a significant blow which forces Alastor to flee, but Alastor puts up a good show for a time because of how Unskilled, but Strong the angel is, easily dodging his wild swings and creatively using his powers to strike from unexpected angles. While he's not able to actually hurt Adam, he frustrates him greatly.
    • Charlie isn't able to defeat Adam on her own either, but she is the first person to be able to actually hurt him when she spears him in the shoulder with her trident, drawing golden blood, and hurling him into the wall.
  • Cut His Heart Out with a Spoon: The only vitriolic enough insult Lute hurls that manages to freak out even Adam is when she orders the Exorcists to "rip Vaggie's cunt-mouth out her ass".
  • Damned by Faint Praise: Katie Killjoy compliments Charlie and her crew for "not being totally fucking useless" after they drive off the Exorcists and stop the Extermination.
  • Deal with the Devil: Or angel, as the case may be. Lute alludes to Lilith cutting a deal with Adam, which is now void because of his death.
  • Death Equals Redemption: Sir Pentious sacrifices himself in a failed attempt to try to take out Adam with his airship and gets vaporized, and ascends to Heaven at the end of the episode as a Winner because of it.
  • Deathly Unmasking:
    • Subverted with Lute, who loses her mask and is left at Vaggie's mercy to die. Vaggie, however, chooses to spare her.
    • Double Subverted with Adam. Lucifer and Charlie try to spare his life despite Lucifer shattering his mask, but Nifty comes by and finishes the job.
  • Deflector Shields: Alastor conjures a magical barrier around the hotel to trap a group of Exorcists inside while keeping the main force out. It also sprouts tentacles wielding angelic weapons to strike down the ones outside the shield. Adam eventually destroys it by punching it.
  • Didn't See That Coming:
    • Everyone is completely caught off-guard when Niffty comes behind Adam and stabs him repeatedly. Vox sums it well.
      Vox: Hoooooooooo-ly shit.
    • After Sir Pentious dies sacrificing himself trying to take out Adam, he later ascends right in front of Sera and Emily in Heaven. Not only is Pentious shocked that he's "alive", but so are Sera and Emily as Charlie is proven right that a Sinner can be redeemed and ascend to heaven. Emily is ecstatic at the revelation while Sera looks baffled.
  • Did You Just Punch Out Cthulhu?: Niffty of all people is the one who ends up killing Adam without even realizing it, having spent the majority of the battle stabbing Exorcist corpses due to Charlie telling her to stab any Angel she sees, and just started stabbing Adam vigorously in the middle of his ranting. Downplayed in that Adam was already on the brink of defeat, having been worn down by opponents far above his and Niffty's level, but still an impressive kill on her part.
  • Double Tap: Niffty can be seen repeatedly stabbing fallen Exorcist corpses on the battlefield, though she's probably not intentionally doing it to make sure they're dead.
  • Dragon Ascendant: With Adam now dead, Lute has taken command of the Exorcists, reluctantly ordering they return to Heaven after Lucifer and Charlie demand so. She makes clear she is not done with getting rid of the Hazbin Hotel, voiding Adam's deal with Lilith and conscripting her into helping stop her daughter.
  • Dramatic Irony: Charlie assumes Alastor is dead when he fails to hold Adam off, unaware that he just made a tactical retreat. She learns of his survival when he returns at the very end.
  • Due to the Dead:
    • Once the hotel is rebuilt, the staff and guests hold a wake for Sir Pentious as a send-off for his Heroic Sacrifice, saluting an ornate Memorial Photo-style painting of him holding his beloved Egg Boiz while wearing his general's uniform. Even Lucifer joins in.
    • A golden statue of Dazzle is placed in the new Hotel's lobby to serve as a memorial.
  • Dynamic Entry: Lucifer's entry into the battle is a fist smashing into Adam's face while he's busy bragging about how he's about to kill Charlie.
  • Even Evil Has Loved Ones: This episode shows without a doubt Adam and Lute's friendship was genuine. When Adam dies, Lute is devastated and immediately cradles him with her one arm, while Adam has a warm smile when he looks at her.
  • Even Evil Has Standards: Even Adam gets a bit unnerved by Lute's levels of Ax-Crazy behavior towards Vaggie, and tells her to tone it down.
  • "Everybody Helps Out" Denouement: A portion of "Finale" is dedicated to showing Lucifer and the Hotel crew rebuilding a bigger and better Hotel from the ashes and rubble of the old one, showing just how close-knit they've become over the course of six months.
  • Evil Cannot Comprehend Good: When attacking Charlie, Adam notes that he's surprised that Charlie is risking her immortal life for Sinners, since Adam himself can't see them as anything but victims to be slaughtered while she sees them as her Found Family (which he mocks).
  • Evil Power Vacuum: The Vees believe that the recent chaos may help them expand their power even further, though their celebration about Alastor fleeing is a bit premature.
  • Exact Words: Charlie tells Niffty to stab any angel she sees. After Charlie says this, Niffty zooms in on Angel Dust, brandishing her dagger. Charlie quickly tells Niffty that Angel Dust is off-limits before Niffty can cause any trouble.
  • Eye Scream: One Egg Boi who isn't wearing safety goggles looks directly at the light of an active welding torch Sir Pentious is using and almost gets himself blinded.
  • Face Realization: Alastor is horrified after the battle is over when he realizes that he very nearly became a martyr for Charlie's cause due to almost dying protecting the Hotel, something which shakes him enough that he resolves to throw off his own figurative bindings and double down on his manipulative efforts.
  • Failed Attempt at Drama: After saving Charlie from Adam at the last minute, Lucifer tries to make a Badass Boast about how hurting her was a big mistake on Adam's part, only to say to him that because of it, he's going to "fuck him". Everyone stares at him in silence (except Angel and Valentino, who look interested by his claims), and Charlie has to correct him that it's "fuck him up".
  • Family of Choice: When Adam expresses disbelief that Charlie would risk her immortal life for sinners, she outright calls the Hotel members her family.
  • Fascinating Eyebrow:
    • When Lucifer says he's going to fuck Adam, everyone present stares incredulously at him except for Angel, who smirks and cocks an eyebrow while a duck quacking sound effect plays.
    • Lucifer himself gives a bored one during Adam's angry tirade post-beatdown, unimpressed that he's still Bullying the Dragon.
  • Fight Bell Hijinks: When Vaggie and Lute begin fighting, a ringing bell can be heard.
  • First Injury Reaction: Adam shouts "The fuck?! That hurts!" when Charlie stabs him in the shoulder with her pitchfork.
  • Five-Second Foreshadowing:
    • During the celebration the night before Extermination Day, Sir Pentious raises a toast to "being alive today and not dying tomorrow", heralding the fact that he's the only major Hotel occupant who will die in the upcoming battle.
    • When he has Charlie on the ropes, Adam sadistically tells her that it's 'Time to die', and the eyes, mouth and voice of his mask flicker as he says those words. As it's been confirmed that Lucifer made the deal that the hellborn would be spared from the Extermination and the Exorcists would only go after sinners, this shows that Adam has officially gone back on the deal, and allows Lucifer to pull a Big Damn Heroes moment five seconds afterwards.
  • Freeze-Frame Bonus:
    • Alastor's shadow briefly grimaces after Adam strikes a critical hit on him, showing how much the battle has rattled him.
    • When Vox loudly proclaims that watching Alastor get his ass beat is Better than Sex, Valentino can be seen to give him a disapproving, slightly hurt look.
    • As with all other 666 News segments, the news crawl in this episode is totally off its meds if you take a second to pause and read it:
News Crawl: Holy shit holy fucking shit the Extermination is over? Does this mean they aren't coming back? I'm shitting and cumming rn!!!![...]srs tho? wtff for real? What is this gonna mean? When is season two gonna come out? Crying holyfuck—
    • When Vox throws a knife at a picture of Alastor, you can see that the photo was ripped and that Vox was actually in it with him.
    • At the very end of the reprise of "Happy Day in Hell" when Velvette takes a selfie with the other Vees, you can see Vox and Valentino making out, confirming their relationship is still sexual which had previously only been mentioned by the creator in interviews.
  • Funny Background Event:
  • Furry Reminder: Angel makes an offhand comment to Cherri Bomb that he's heard Sir Pentious has two dicks, like actual real-world snakes... something she expresses interest in.
  • Get Out!: After Adam's death, Lucifer firmly (but politely) orders Lute and the surviving Exorcists to leave Hell.
Lucifer: Take your little friends, and GO HOME! Please~
  • Gone Horribly Right: Even though Lucifer spared Adam at Charlie’s request, he ended up killed by Niffty anyway, simply because she was doing what has been told to her (stabbing angels, who is not Angel Dust, on sight), and Adam was too distracted by his Villainous Breakdown to notice her.
  • Greek Chorus: The Vees provide a running commentary on the battle as they watch a broadcast of it from their tower.
  • Guest-Star Party Member: Cherri Bomb joins in defending the Hotel despite not being a guest, although she plays it off as relishing the opportunity to go into battle with Angel. She ends up becoming an official guest by the end of the episode.
  • Happy Dance: A villainous one — Valentino and Vox triumphantly dance together to celebrate Alastor's disappearance and the other Overlords being left weakened in the aftermath of the battle.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: Sir Pentious tries to take out Adam with a suicide run of his Airship, but Adam vaporizes him and the ship without even realizing what was happening. Pentious then goes to Heaven at the end of the episode, thus confirming him as the first redeemed sinner.
  • Hell Invades Heaven: Inverted; the climax of the season is an invasion of Hell by forces of Heaven.
  • Hidden Agenda Villain: Whatever game Alastor is playing, he's added a new goal to it after being thrashed by Adam and briefly faking his death: free himself of the "leash" he's shackled to, and make himself stronger so that all will know and fear him.
  • Holy Halo: When he's pummeling Adam, the snake and apple on Lucifer's hat migrate to his new horns and form a parody of a halo.
  • I Just Want to Be Free: During Alastor's part of "Finale", in a very uncharacteristic moment where we can clearly see just how freaked out his brush with death has made him, Alastor sings about his increased resolve to free himself from the deal on his own soul and once more assert the power he feels he's lost.
I'm hungry for freedom like never before
The constraints of my deal surely have a backdoor
Once I figure out how to un-clip my wings
GUESS WHO WILL BE PULLING ALL THE STRINGS!? AHAHAHAHA!!!
  • I'm Okay!: Niffty is knocked down by one of Adam's attacks and holds up a thumbs up from where she's lying face down on the ground.
  • In the Back: Adam is ranting about how the Sinners should be grateful to him because he's the first man and thus their progenitor when a blade suddenly pops out of his chest. It turns out it's Niffty, who finally found a living angel to stab.
  • Insult Backfire: When Adam angrily says Lucifer is "the most hated being in all of creation", Lucifer says Adam's first wife and second wife liked what he gave them.
  • Insult of Endearment: Angel has pictures on his door of Charlie, his fellow residents, and Fat Nuggets. These are labeled, respectively, "that bitch", "these bitches", and "my baby".
  • Internal Reveal: The Angels finally learn that their own weapons, angelic steel, can be used to kill them during the battle.
  • Irony: Lucifer took the form of a snake and caused the fall of man and was banished to Hell as punishment. Sir Pentious, a snake demon, is the first Sinner to ascend into Heaven after sacrificing himself to save his friends.
  • It's All My Fault: Charlie blames herself for Sir Pentious' death and the destruction of the hotel. She insists that if she had convinced Heaven to work together with them then they could have avoided all the bloodshed and not let everyone down. Lucifer cheers her up by pointing out her actions created positive changes for Hell and she has the full support of him and her friends in rebuilding.
  • I Will Tear Your Arms Off: Lute threatens Vaggie with a line like this in their Lancer vs. Dragon fight which also doubles as a Pre-Asskicking One-Liner:
Lute: Before I take your life, I'm going to tear that other eye out of your face.
  • Just Toying with Them: Lucifer doesn't take Adam remotely seriously in their fight, annoying him by transforming into various animals while casually dodging each and every attack Adam throws at him. He then rubs salt in the wound by pointing out how both Lilith and Eve liked what he sold them, infuriating Adam to the point of throwing a Kamehame Hadoken that levels the hotel. Despite this, Lucifer still barely pays attention to Adam until Adam tries to strike Charlie in front of him, resulting in Lucifer losing his shit and subjecting Adam to a No-Holds-Barred Beatdown.
  • Karmic Death: Adam, who believed himself to be the greatest thing ever to hit creation, is killed absent-mindedly by the hotel's janitor during his Villainous Breakdown.
  • Killed Off for Real: Adam is stabbed to death in the middle of his Villainous Breakdown by Niffty, who is hailed as a hero in the aftermath for it. Lute also strikes down Dazzle, and over the course of the battle, all but one of the Egg Boiz are killed, as are several of the Cannibals.
  • Know When to Fold 'Em:
    • After getting his staff broken in half and getting wounded by Adam, Alastor retreats from the battle to save himself by disappearing into the shadows.
    • With Adam dead and the King of Hell directly intervening, Lute wisely heeds his demand that she and her Exorcists leave Hell at once.
  • Lame Comeback: When Alastor's summoned creatures start climbing over Adam during their fight, Adam is too distracted to come up with anything clever, just giving a Cluster F-Bomb and then a Big "SHUT UP!".
    Alastor: Ha! Poetry.
  • Lancer vs. Dragon: Vaggie and Lute end up pairing up to fight near the end of the battle, settling their rivalry established when Lute expelled Vaggie from the Exorcists.
  • Leave the Two Lovebirds Alone: When Sir Pentious goes to talk to Cherri Bomb the night before the finale battle, the other Hotel residents give him some space.
  • Let's Get Dangerous!:
    • After Sir Pentious is killed by Adam, the usually cheerful and kindhearted Charlie transforms into her full demon form out of grief and rage, and is deadly serious during her fight with the Exorcists' leader—stabbing him in the shoulder with her pitchfork, snapping at him to address her by her proper title, and levelling a Death Glare at him the entire time.
    • When Adam tries to attack Charlie in front of him, the normally laid-back and goofy Lucifer backhands Adam into the ground, transforms into his full demon form, and pummels Adam's face in while furiously berating him and laughing maniacally.
  • Life-or-Limb Decision: Downplayed, as her life isn't actually in danger, due to Vaggie choosing deliberately to spare her as Cruel Mercy, but Lute tears off her left arm to free herself from the rubble Vaggie dropped on her and continue fighting. It serves to demonstrate her fanatical commitment to killing sinners more than anything.
  • Literal-Minded: Niffty is handed a dagger and told to stab any angel she sees. She immediately looks at Angel Dust and tries to do as ordered, so Charlie has to clarify things. Even then, Niffty doesn't get that the intended targets are living angels, as she goes around stabbing fallen corpses until Adam makes the unfortunate mistake of getting close enough to be a reachable target.
  • Loophole Abuse: Implied to be how Lucifer was able to pull a Big Damn Heroes. The deal between him and Heaven about the extermination was that only Sinners could be targeted and that any and all Hellborn were off limits. Adam attacking Charlie violates this deal, freeing Lucifer up to protect his daughter and her friends.
  • Monochromatic Impact Shot: The shot of Lute tearing her arm off to escape from the hotel's rubble is rendered as her black silhouette against a red backdrop with a cascade of bright golden ichor from her arm.
  • Mythology Gag:
  • Neck Lift: Adam lifts Charlie by her neck when he's getting ready to execute her before Lucifer's intervention.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: Vaggie spares Lute as a form of Cruel Mercy, so when Niffty kills Adam, Lute becomes the new leader of the Exorcists. With Adam dead, she threatens to rescind Lilith's deal with Adam unless Lilith does something to stop Charlie and her hotel.
  • Nice Job Fixing It, Villain:
    • Adam vaporizing Sir Pentious during the latter's Heroic Sacrifice allows Pentious to ascend to Heaven as a Winner, much to Pentious' own shock, proving that redeeming Sinners is possible.
    • Adam does so again by attacking the Hotel in the first place, as targeting Charlie breaks his agreement to only harm sinners, thus giving Lucifer a reason to interfere.
    • Adam announcing that he was attacking the Hotel first gave everyone a specific area to gather, whereas a widespread attack like the previous purges would have been harder to defend against.
  • Nightmare Face: After being a goofy Bumbling Dad for most of his screentime, Lucifer grows horns and red splotches on his face when Adam tries to hit Charlie in front of him. This shows how Lucifer has finally gotten serious as he beats Adam into the floor and prepares to destroy him with a Holy Hand Grenade before Charlie stops him.
  • Noodle Incident: Angel has apparently "fucked one cannibal poolboy" in the past.
  • Not Bad: Katie Killjoy congratulates Charlie and the Hazbin Hotel for "not being totally fuckin' useless for once".
  • Not Worth Killing: Vaggie spares Lute to rub her failure in her face. Lute doesn't learn the lesson.
  • Nothing Is the Same Anymore: Oh boy, where do we even begin?
    • For the first time, not only is the Extermination in Hell cancelled because of Adam’s death, but a Sinner officially becomes the first Ascended Demon because they made an Heroic Sacrifice, meaning that Charlie’s plan to redeem damned souls actually could work, just not in the way everyone expects, and that Heaven (mostly Sera) must face the consequences of their controversial yearly genocide against Earthborn demons.
    • The Hazbin Hotel is rebuilt into a bigger, greater version of itself thanks to Lucifer, Charlie and her friends, who are no longer viewed as a laughingstock from the citizens of the Pride Ring for trying to seek redemption, but instead hailed as heroes.
  • Now or Never Kiss: Sir Pentious confesses his feelings for Cherri Bomb and passionately kisses her before he goes to sacrifice himself against Adam.
Pentious: Ms. Cherri Bomb, I love you! REMEMBER MEEEEEEEEEE!
  • Oh, Crap!:
    • The defenders of the Hotel are horrified when Adam breaks Alastor's magic shield, which was keeping the Exorcists from overwhelming them.
    • Alastor is thrown when he realizes Adam has broken his staff and he's a sitting duck for the angel. To punctuate this, the radio static in his voice goes away and he can only let out a "Ffffuck".
    • Sera is clearly aghast when she sees that Sir Pentious has successfully been redeemed and ascended to Heaven, since it means that Charlie was right and that now Sera is directly responsible for instigating, condoning and perpetuating genocide against the sinners unnecessarily, right on the heels of Heaven's army suffering its first ever defeat and Lucifer himself taking a personal interest in affairs after years of malaise.
  • O.O.C. Is Serious Business:
    • When Adam breaks his microphone-staff, the radio static in Alastor's voice briefly goes away and he can only let out a "Fffuck" before Adam lands a blow on him. Additionally, while he's still smiling after the attack, his shadow briefly frowns before regaining its composure.
    • After limping away to his studio, Alastor has a breakdown, and it's very clear, even though he's smiling, he's shaken by events and, more frighteningly, terrified of who has his soul on a leash.
    • After Adam is stabbed by Niffty, Lute completely drops her stoic demeanor and lets out a scream of anguish. She also calls him by his name, "Adam", rather than "Sir" like she always did prior.
  • One-Winged Angel:
    • Charlie finally enters her full demonic form, enraged by the apparent death of Sir Pentious, and subsequently also reveals Razzle and Dazzle have much more terrifying forms as well, though it's implied that she might have a further form during her Punch Catch with Adam.
    • Lucifer is shown to possess a more demonic form when he becomes infuriated by Adam trying to attack Charlie directly in front of him.
  • Papa Wolf: Lucifer becomes absolutely enraged when Adam tries to attack Charlie in front of him, in violation of the rule that the angels could only kill sinners and not Hellborns. He transforms into an even more frightening form, similar to the other Deadly Sins, and nearly beats Adam to death with his bare hands before Charlie tells him Adam has had enough.
  • Pass the Popcorn: Instead of rooting for the Hotel (since they could be next if the defense fails), Vox is excited to see them hopefully get killed, and uses his Sinister Surveillance to watch "the show". The other Vees apathetically join in, along with the popcorn.
  • Pet the Dog:
    • Vaggie can be seen smiling and giving Sir Pentious an encouraging touch on the arm right before he tries (and fails) to confess to Cherri Bomb.
    • Immediately afterwards, Angel Dust none-too-subtly talks him up to Cherri a bit.
    • Katie Killjoy actually shows a semblance of respect for Charlie and the crew for forcing the Exorcists to retreat, albeit by calling Charlie and her crew "not totally fucking useless" as she does so.
  • Power Glows: Adam and Lucifer have a shining outline when they fight that shows them using angelic power at full force.
  • Power Incontinence: Downplayed. After Adam breaks his staff and wounds him, Alastor is shaken enough that his eyes flicker between his typical Red Eyes, Take Warning and the Black Eyes of Crazy of his full demon form, including a brief shot with one normal eye and one transformed eye, before he decides to bail out.
  • The Power of Friendship: A brief verse of "Finale" demonstrates that even after the destruction of the first Hazbin Hotel and the loss of Sir Pentious, Charlie has managed to win the day with the help of her Sinner friends whom merely six months ago mocked her as a Wide-Eyed Idealist and are now more than willing to help her pursue her goals.
Ensemble: We can do this, we can build it, best Hotel that you've ever seen
Twice the bedrooms, we can fill it

Lucifer: With more Sinners than you can dream
Lucifer & Vaggie: It starts with you,
Lucifer, Vaggie & Angel Dust: You know it's true,
    Everyone: Fulfill your destiny!
Charlie: [tearing up] So long as I've got all of you with me!
  • Pre-Asskicking One-Liner:
    • Alastor gets a couple shots in before he and Adam kick their battle off, though Alastor's bark is worse than his bite in this case.
Alastor: Adam. First man, next to die.
Adam: Who the fuck are you?
Alastor: Alastor. Pleasure to be meeting you. Quite a pleasure. I'm about to end your fucking life!
    • Adam winds up immediately retorting with one of his own:
Adam: Nice "voice". Don't you know Jazz is for PUSSIES!?
  • Pre-Mortem One-Liner: Subverted. Adam spouts a line right before nearly killing Alastor that seems like it would set this up, but Alastor manages to escape via dissipating into shadow before Adam can deal a Coup de Grâce to him.
Adam: I'm gonna wipe that shit-eating grin off your face, because RADIO IS FUCKIN' DEAD!
    [...]
Alastor: [extremely bloodied] Have to disagree with you there!...Radio's not dead, but it is ending this broadcast.
  • Punch Catch: When Charlie gets really furious, her arm suddenly glows and transforms into a large red-colored talon, and she's able to catch Adam's punch easily, showing that she's hiding a lot more power than even she may be aware of.
  • Pyrrhic Victory: Subverted—Charlie feels that the end result was one, with the exorcists driven off but Alastor missing, Sir Pentious and Dazzle dead, and the hotel reduced to a pile of rubble. She blames herself for it having to come to violence, feeling that the carnage could have been avoided if she had done a better job at convincing Heaven to listen to her. But in spite of everything, her dad and her friends encourage her to keep following her dream of redeeming sinners and rebuild the hotel, which they do, even bigger and grander than before. And it turns out Sir Pentious was not rendered Deader than Dead after all, but actually ascended to Heaven.
  • Rage Breaking Point: Throughout the season, Charlie has been holding back her full demon powers, and at the beginning of the battle, she still holds back and fights with a shield. But when Adam kills Sir Pentious, who was attempting a Heroic Sacrifice to take him down, Charlie is devastated by his death and immediately goes full demon mode, summoning a trident to fight and transforming Razzle and Dazzle into their true forms.
  • Rank Scales with Asskicking: As a leader of the Exorcists, despite it being pointed out that they never had to fight seriously before, Adam has enough raw power to force even someone like Alastor to flee. It takes Lucifer, a far more powerful angel, to stop him.
  • Redemption Earns Life: After being killed by Adam in an Heroic Sacrifice, instead of being Deader than Dead Sir Pentious ascends to Heaven as the first redeemed soul from Hell.
  • Removed from the Picture: When Vox throws a knife at a photo of Alastor, part of Vox's own head can be seen at the torn edge, a rare case of the "removed" side of the equation being used instead of the kept side.
  • The Reveal:
    • We see Adam's real face under his mask before he dies.
    • Lilith isn't in Hell at all. She's in somewhere that looks like Heaven, and made some sort of bargain with Adam that is now void due to his death.
    • It is possible to redeem Sinners, with Sir Pentious ascending to Heaven after his Heroic Sacrifice.
  • Rhetorical Question Blunder: When Sir Pentious grabs Cherri while she's in pitched battle, she asks if he's out of his mind. He swiftly retorts "yes" and deeply kisses her.
  • Save the Villain: Charlie stops her dad from finishing off Adam.
  • Screw the Rules, They Broke Them First!: Adam hurting Charlie means that Heaven broke their deal to leave the hellborn alone during exterminations, which means Lucifer now has free reign to show up and pummel him into oblivion.
  • Screw the War, We're Partying: The night before Extermination Day, Charlie lets the Hotel occupants have one last night of debauchery living as they want to live before the big battle, in case they die the following day. Despite that, it's actually pretty subdued and mostly consists of casual drinks between friends.
  • Sequel Hook:
    • The Vees, having watched Alastor get injured in the battle, think they now have a chance to push him out for good.
    • Sir Pentious becomes the first sinner to ascend to Heaven in front of Sera and Emily, who learn that Charlie is right about sinners being redeemable.
    • Lute confronts Charlie's Missing Mom Lilith on a beach to inform her that Adam is dead and her daughter is a threat to Heaven.
    • Alastor is now determined to break the leash he's been on.
  • Shipper on Deck: Angel and Charlie both seem to be for Pentious and Cherri, with Angel outright trying to play Wingman. Charlie can be seen in the background of Pentious's first attempt at a love confession looking excited by the interaction before being dragged away by Vaggie, complete with random hearts floating around her.
  • Shout-Out: While rebuilding the Hotel, Lucifer wields KeeKee like a Keyblade and uses her to conjure building material out of light.
  • Sinister Surveillance: Vox and the other Vees use a drone to spy on the Hotel during the preparations and before the battle.
  • Sole Survivor: Only one Egg Boi is left alive after the rest of the Egg Bois were either killed by the Exorcists or killed by Adam in the blimp with Sir Pentious.
  • Some Kind of Force Field: Alastor surrounds the Hotel with a barrier that splits the Exorcists and makes it easier to deal with those who are inside, as well as sprouting tentacles wielding holy weapons to attack the ones outside. Lute feels like pointing it out to Adam's frustration. The shield breaks when Adam punches it.
  • So Proud of You: Husk takes stock of how different Angel Dust has become from the perpetually horny, coke-addled misanthrope with no respect for Husk's personal space he was at the start of the season:
Husk: Last day of afterlife, and you're not off snorting a line off some hunk's abs?
Angel: Eh, you've fucked one cannibal poolboy, you've fucked 'em all.
Husk: [smiling] I guess you have changed.
  • Split Screen: When Lute and Vaggie prepare to face off, the screen divides into two, with the left part focusing on Lute and the right on Vaggie.
  • Stab the Picture: As Vox is singing about how the Overlords have been weakened, he tosses a knife at a torn photo of Alastor, with a bit of Vox's head visible on the torn edge.
  • Stock Sound Effects:
    • When Vaggie and Lute square off and lunge at each other, a fight bell dings.
    • When Charlie suddenly develops a Red Right Hand to Punch Catch Adam's attack, a puma shriek punctuates red Tainted Veins spreading down her affected arm.
  • Strange Minds Think Alike: Angel Dust and Valentino look amused at Lucifer's proclamations to fuck Adam (up).
  • Stunned Silence: After Lucifer states how he's going to "fuck you [Adam]" (he meant “fuck you up”, but phrased it wrong), everyone reacts in utter silence.
  • Stylish Sunhats: Lilith is wearing a sunhat while relaxing on the beach when Lute comes to meet her, giving her an aura of opulence.
  • Suddenly Shouting: Reversed. Following Adam's death, Lucifer menacingly gives Lute one last ultimatum to back down her army and get out of his sight...before quickly adding a polite and cheerful "please".
  • Sympathy for the Devil: Charlie feels sorry for Adam after Lucifer gives him a No-Holds-Barred Beatdown and is about to kill him. During Adam's breakdown shortly after she shows a look of pity towards him.
Charlie: Woah, woah dad- he's had enough.
  • Tempting Fate: Sir Pentious makes some comments about hoping not to die tomorrow the night before the final battle, where he ends up making a Heroic Sacrifice. He manages to ascend to Heaven in the process, but still.
  • Tender Tears: Combined with Tears of Fear, Charlie cries when she’s in front of Angel's door, touched by the friendships made, but also scared about the possibility of losing the battle.
  • That Came Out Wrong: After Lucifer arrives to the battle to fight Adam, he tells him "I am going to fuck you", leaving everyone looking shocked and confused at what he said, with Angel and Valentino finding it interesting. Charlie has to correct him that it's "fuck you up".
  • Triumphant Reprise: The final song is an uplifting reprise of "Happy Day in Hell" about rebuilding the hotel better than ever.
  • They Look Just Like Everyone Else!: We finally see Adam without his mask, and he looks like just an average guy despite his mass-murdering tendencies.
  • This Is for Emphasis, Bitch!: Adam inflames Lucifer's paternal instincts when the angel tries to punch Charlie in front of him. Lucifer is instantly on top of a helpless Adam and expresses his rage via No-Holds-Barred Beatdown while calling him a bitch.
Lucifer: [Voice of the Legion] You come after me and my daughter?! Don't forget, you're in my house, bitch! Hahahaha!
Charlie: Whoa, whoa, Dad. He's had enough.
Lucifer: [flies out of the crater with Charlie, to Adam] How's mercy taste you little bitch?
  • Thou Shalt Not Kill: While Charlie has accepted that killing the Exorcists is necessary in a warzone, she personally doesn't kill anyone. Charlie wields a shield, throws (non-lethal) sparkles on the angels to distract them instead of damaging them, and convinces her father to spare Adam after his beatdown.
  • Throw the Dog a Bone: After spending the entire series as a Butt-Monkey, Pentious not only gets to kiss Cherri, his Heroic Sacrifice gets him straight to heaven.
  • Title Drop: The episode's title is spoken aloud near the end during "Finale", and comes in the form of Lucifer reassuring his daughter that she and her friends made a difference.
Lucifer: The stage is wrecked, the crowd is gone, but by God, Charlie! The show, it must go on!
  • Trash the Set: The Hazbin Hotel is destroyed by the end of the battle, cleaved in half by a skyscraper-sized beam of holy light. However, it's later rebuilt bigger and better than before.
  • A Truce While We Gawk: After Lucifer arrives to the battle to fight Adam, he tells Adam "I am going to fuck you". The moment he says that, the battle comes to a temporary halt so everyone can react to his statement with shock and confusion. Charlie even has enough time to correct Lucifer, who blankly asks "Wait, what did I say?", and then the fight resumes when Adam attacks him.
  • Twirl of Love: At the end of "Finale", Charlie picks up Vaggie in a hug and twirls her around.
  • Undignified Death:
    • Sir Pentious appears to be gearing up to a badass moment, firing up his war machine to shoot Adam. Adam simply vaporizes him in an instant.
    • For a millennia-old immortal and powerful Exorcist, Adam's end isn't exactly grandiose. In the end, it's not Charlie, or Alastor, or even Lucifer himself that does Adam in. It's freakin' Niffty (most likely the weakest of the main cast), who stabs him many times In the Back while he's in the middle of a Villainous Breakdown after getting his ass kicked beforehand.
  • Ungrateful Bastard:
    • Vaggie spares Lute as a form of Cruel Mercy, but Lute is so driven by her hatred that she rips her own arm off to continue fighting rather than accept any form of mercy.
    • After Charlie convinces her father to spare Adam, Adam has no gratitude for her, and goes on an unhinged rant about how they can't treat him like this.
  • Unholy Matrimony: After being hinted in non-canon material, this episode confirms that Valentino and Vox are in a relationship, with them having a romantic dance together during "Finale".
  • The Un-Reveal: Alastor confirms he is indeed under the control of another, and that he is desperate to undo it, but who he made a deal with and what exactly are they forcing him to do is still a complete mystery.
  • Unskilled, but Strong:
    • Adam's raw power dwarfs everyone else's, sans Lucifer, but he has no skill, and his only strategy is Attack! Attack! Attack!. Alastor is able to hold out for longer than most just by simply dodging and weaving then attacking the openings, and probably could have won if he'd used holy weaponry. Adam only gets the better of him through a Sword Beam that Alastor can't dodge.
    • Despite being one of the most powerful entities in Hell, Charlie's lack of combat experience and Willfully Weak mindset hinder her battles against the Exorcists. Nonetheless, Charlie's strength is unparalleled and second only to her parents. She demonstrates her might by making Adam bleed and absorbing his full-powered surprise punch without any negative repercussions.
  • Villain: Exit, Stage Left: Alastor flees after Adam injures him, leaving everyone in a more vulnerable position with no one strong enough to take on Adam until Lucifer arrives.
  • Villain Respect: While the other Vees watch in Stunned Silence, Vox lets out an impressed and surprised "Holy shit!" when Niffty viciously stabs Adam, the Leader of the Exorcists, to death.
  • Villainous Breakdown: After a pummeling by Lucifer that breaks his mask, Adam is reduced to ranting at how he's not someone to be shown "mercy". This distracts him enough for Niffty to stab him In the Back.
  • Violently Protective Girlfriend: For most of the battle, Charlie is an Apologetic Attacker using a Shield Bash to push the attackers back. Then, after some Exorcists go after Vaggie, she's shouting "die motherfuckers" and blasting them with her magic.
  • Visual Pun:
    • It's revealed that Adam's guitar doubles as a battle ax.
    • Katie Killjoy breaks her own neck while announcing "breaking news".
  • Wave-Motion Gun:
    • Sir Pentious' Dread Zeppelin is revealed to be equipped with an energy cannon that he tries to use on Adam... only for Adam to reflexively obliterate the blimp just before he can fire it. Adam notes that it could've been bad if he had let it fire.
    • Adam is able to use his Light 'em Up powers to create a column of light so big and powerful it cuts the hotel in half along with the cliff the hotel is situated upon.
  • Wham Episode: The biggest one in the series so far. The Annual Extermination is halted for the first time ever, with Lute losing an arm and Adam being Killed Off for Real in the process. Sir Pentious performs a Heroic Sacrifice and ascends to Heaven right in front of Sera and Emily, definitively proving that it's possible for sinners to be redeemed. Finally, Lilith is revealed to have been hiding out in somewhere that certainly LOOKS like Heaven following a deal with Adam - the details of which are unclear - and at Lute's insistence, may be getting directly involved in the story going forward.
  • Wham Shot: After all is said and done and the Hotel is rebuilt even bigger and better than before, we very abruptly get a scene which completely changes everything previously thought and understood that acts as a gigantic season cliffhanger: Sir Pentious appearing before Emily and Sera as a Winner. Not only is Pentious not Deader than Dead, he managed to get into Heaven.
  • The Worf Effect: Alastor has long been established as The Dreaded and a nigh-unstoppable dreadnought amongst the Sinners. Emphasis on Sinners, as Adam, despite a rough start, defeats him without much trouble and wounds him pretty badly, forcing Alastor to flee and establishing Adam as a genuine threat. Adam himself is on the receiving end when Lucifer joins the battle.
  • You Are Better Than You Think You Are: "Finale" starts with Charlie in a Heroic BSoD, with her mourning the death of Sir Pentious and destruction of the Hazbin Hotel, feeling she let everybody down due to her failure to convince Heaven to work with Hell. Lucifer and all of her friends, however, almost immediately lift her spirits by saying she's the first one to try to change anything and she still has the full support of everyone, and they all pitch in to help her rebuild the hotel bigger and better than ever.
  • You Fight Like a Cow: Alastor heavily chides Adam's Unskilled, but Strong fighting style during the back-and-forth banter in their one-on-one fight together.
Adam: Ho ho! You think you're tough shit, huh?
Alastor: Tougher than you. [laughter] You lack discipline, control, and worst?    YOU'RE SLOPPY.
  • You Have GOT to Be Kidding Me!: When Adam figures out that the Sinners are fighting back against the Exorcists with their own weapons, he calls it "weak".

Adam mocks Charlie

Adam can't understand why Charlie would risk her life to protect sinners. When she retorts that they're her family, he just mockingly repeats her words.

How well does it match the trope?
