Trope Pantheons Discussion

Go To

Welcome to the Trope Pantheons thread! Please read the rules:

    Rules
Rules. The following are not suggestions or tips, but things that have to be followed:
  • When writing a profile, take note of the following:
    • Gods cannot be followers or high priests for obvious reasons. The 'gods' have ascended meaning there is no need for said character to be a follower of another if they have ascended.
    • No hype profiles, please. 'Hype Profiles' are profiles that have been made out of ongoing events and have not been around for a long time. This creates 'hype' due to popularity and certain elements either through certain scenes, memes, dramatic acting or considered overly awesome. They are not bad tropes but building a portfolio solely for that is a bad idea, as they do not say a thing about representing the trope best (unless it's those trope concepts that they are trying to embody for a long time)
      • You can see one if the profile is only showing off how awesome they are or suddenly pushing how 'significant' they are thanks to the just very recent events rather than respecting the longstanding good representations of the trope. And usually having... minimum portfolio or flavor texts and being a bit too generalized or self-contained to events from within their home series instead of interacting with other Pantheon members.
  • When posting in the forum, take note of the following:
    • When you suggest a God, please explain why they fit the trope. Not everyone is going to understand just "X should be the God of Y because they exemplify the trope" off the bat, especially if they're unfamiliar with the work.
    • You must use the Trope Pantheons discussion thread in the forums if you wish to add a new deity, story, something else of importance to the Trope Pantheon canon, or reworking an existing deity (be it simply improving their existing profile or changing their title).
      • For new and reworked deities, 3 [tup] means the profile will have a one week waiting period.
      • For new and reworked deities, 4 [tup] is a 3 day waiting period.
      • 5 [tup] is an automatic ascension for new and reworked deities.
      • Speaking of reworks, for anyone that wants to improve such profiles, they have to review the current trope the character(s) has and see if it still holds up or if there is a better rep for their trope.
    • For adding new Treasures to The Great Treasury or new Dominions to the Dominions, the following rules apply:
      • For new Treasures or Dominions, 3 [tup] is a 3 day waiting period.
      • 4 [tup] is an automatic addition to the Great Treasury or Dominions.
    • Do not repost a profile in the forums more than twice in a day if noticeable changes have not been made in between. If a profile is posted a third time in a row without noticeable alterations, it will be downvoted. This is so spamming of no-effort profiles is less frequent and to prevent tropers from getting aggravated seeing the same profile over and over. The minimum acceptable change has to be a single flavour text.
    • The Pantheon is not a mouthpiece for you to voice your opinions on certain characters. You may like certain characters more than others, but do not make the mistake of making profiles for characters you like look like Character Shilling.
    • Tropers new to the Pantheon are barred from approving or downvoting profiles until they have ascended at least two profiles.
    • Do not include fan reception in any profiles. It has nothing to do with the character themselves and will create unnecessary conflict.
    • Write a detailed explanation on why the character is the best candidate for deity of that trope. If people disagree with you, do not force it on the people.
    • Keep in mind that if you still want to try to find a trope for a particular character, you are only given three chances to find a particular trope for them. If a suggestion goes past three possible tropes, then it will come off as shoehorning a character into the Pantheon just for the sake of that character to be there.
      • On a related note, even if a character does have a free trope being suggested, there is still a limit of three attempts for suggesting that character for that trope. If no one responds to that certain proposal after being posted three times, then it will get to the point where the idea will be seen as being shoehorned into the Pantheon. In addition, the idea needs to be considered acceptable and approved because they are good, not for the sake of pitying others because no one is responding to their idea.
  • When posting Pantheon related stuff to the wiki, take note of the following:
    • Do not put a link to these Pantheon pages into the main wiki page. The moment you want to add in a main Characters page that the character is a God of this trope, do not do it. If you see leftovers of this practice, inform the forum and use the cutlist. This also goes to the Trivia page. The only exception to this rule is if a page in the Pantheon could be confused for a page in Main, like Good Colors, Evil Colors and Good and Evil Colors.
    • Rule of Cautious Editing Judgment ALSO applies here. Do not bring things that would incite fights, even if it is what is currently the hot topic and might be 'urgent'. For example, the political scene and some really bad politicians. We are not here to fight at each other, so don't suggest things that go to that direction, this is a fictional Pantheon after all.
    • To add a Pantheon page for a certain work, 4 or more characters coming from the same series/franchise should be ascended before adding the page. For Creator specific pages, 4 deities coming from the same creator and 2 individual work pages coming from the same creator is the minimum to warrant a page.
    • Do not create a trope page for a story until the story is fully completed.

    Instructions and Tips
Here are some tips one should keep in mind when editing:

  • Preparing to write:
    • First thing to do before present a profile is to go to the Trope Pantheons discussion thread. In the forums, you must discuss with other users on adding ideas and seek their approval with sound reasoning. You can also get some assistance in the forum thread by either asking for help and those interested asking if they can help. Submissions that are added without discussion are likely to be deleted and those who violate those rules by adding Pantheon content without discussion will get reported to the mods.
    • If you feel the need to remove a character for some reason (poor quality, outdated titles, etcetera) and replace him/her with another or outright rework, please see what the other tropers think about this in the discussion thread before doing anything hasty. Use good reasoning to see if your idea can easily replace the character present without drawing out your statement or giving too ambiguous claims most do not understand.
    • Please be sure to consult others in the discussion about what you want to work before making the profile. This is done to see if your proposal is the best representative and so, in case your profile is turned down, you do not waste time writing something that others might not find suitable.
      • In the same vein, if you adopt a profile from another troper, it is recommended that you make an announcement that you have done so on the discussion thread. More often than not, a trope that was reserved for something was given away to someone else. Check the Related tab on the top of a page to see if a trope or character has been reserved by a user.
    • If, for whatever reason, you are writing about a God who just happens to be a person in real life, just try to be very careful about what you decide to say. Do not try to make the editing seem too meta (self-referential) and use the aformentioned creativity to create hypothetical scenarios towards fictional characters.
  • When writing a profile for a character, here are a few things to note:
    • All deities should be sorted by their divine ranking. Put Overdeities on the top of the page and Quasideities on the bottom. Also be sure to add them in alphabetical order by their first/given name (can be reversed if it is Eastern ordered). For a group, if there is no official name for them all list down all their names by order of relevance or (if too long to list) title them as Insert Name Here Main Characters or some other identifiable title along the same lines.
    • The maximum number of tropes that a god can have is two, but do not try to abuse that fact. If you need to use a second trope to specify a certain thing about their position, that can be excused either because said character represents their trope choice very well alongside the first trope. It is still generally encouraged to only have one trope.
    • A trope can only belong to one profile at a time. The only time two profiles can share a trope is if there are explicit variations listed in the trope page proper (e.g. Muscle Angst is held by both Biscuit Krueger and Chihiro Fujisaki as the former represents "Too Much Muscle" and the latter represents "Not Enough Muscle")
    • If the character you are about to add to a House already exists in another, make sure to mention that this person has spots in other House as well. Up to 2 places can be made for a deity, with the sole exceptions being those at the Main House to highlight those characters’ importance to the Pantheon’s lore.
    • For a character's theme song, try to avoid calling it "Theme of God X" or "Theme of (Show where God X originates from)". If possible, try to find out if the song has an actual name through research. Most importantly, it has to be part their series’ official soundtracks from media. Do not list songs that are made by fans or outside sources. If they were not specifically used as music for that specific character, then they do not count. Furthermore, it has to be a general theme specifically made for that characters’ appearances, not some generic music that plays for many other instances not related to the character in question.
    • For images, when adding an image for your chosen character, it is highly recommended to use a stylized image that embodies the character or renders that also highlights a character’s behavior (such as cool poses). Most images should be from the main adaptations of the character, unless the images from the other media are of a higher quality than the adaptation. Unless it is needed, do not use fanart for images. If you are, please attribute to the original artist. Due to the website’s dark mode, removing white backgrounds from an image is paramount. This website is suggested to do the background removal. If an image you have takes up too much bytes, it is suggestible to use this site to reduce the byte size. If the byte is still too big, put the compressed image to other sites (or even the same one) to compress even further. Use wikias to look for better images, as even wikias for the series might not contain good official images.
    • Creativity is your friend. While it is not recommended to get too ditzy at your ideas, it is best that when writing a profile for a certain character, do you think of capable scenarios between X and Y. Tip: do not use shallow examples (X wields a sword and Y wields one too) and try to think of relationships that makes sense (i.e those characters that are shout-outs for another).
  • Pantheon Content:
    • Some series or genres will eventually have greater representation in the Pantheon than others. This is unavoidable, but a little diversity helps to make you not look like a shill per say. Try to ensure that if you add a deity from a popular series, make sure that it is because they are a good representative for the trope in question, and not just because they are connected to another deity in their respective canon.
      • As far as deities from actual mythologies, there is generally expectation to build the profiles off interactions from fictional portrays rather than basing it entire from the actual myth. Therefore, a mythological deity should be more of a Composite Character whose main identity is from the actual myth.
    • Occasionally there will be Gods that carry a title without a trope. This is not forbidden, but it is well advised not to abuse them. The only house that a tropeless profile are wholly allowed is the House of Food. Mainly due to most food items lacking tropes, and adding tropes about said foodstuffs is slightly unnecessary. However, the character being ascended for their choice of a food, or food-related thing must be a decently good representative of said item. (i.e their Trademark Favorite Food, or something that they are closely associated with In-Universe, or both).
    • For Dominions and Treasures profiles, always consider what made those places/objects popular in the first place. Were they plot-important, identifiable imagery or have a unique aspect of it? Do not just bring regular objects under the basis of following a certain canon.
  • For Profile Standards:
    • Flavor text is used to describe certain things about a character, place or object. To avoid short ones, it is recommended to write flavor text with 4-7 sentences that can fill around 2 lines each. Be warned that adding too many sentences does not equal good flavor text as it is not an essay of sorts (unless words are substantial and do add to the overall line).
    • Character Profiles of a certain person should have the following:
      • A portfolio that contains at least 7 (at the minimum) tropes describing their character.
      • Flavor text count for a deity profile should have by minimum, 10 (depending if the character in question has enough relationships/characterization) to 15 with a maximum of 20-25 for an individual profile.
      • On the other hand, group profiles (profiles of a group that has 4 or more members) have their maximum flavor text count to 15 minimum, giving individual lines for the other members of the group (unless the members are not as characterized) up to 30 at max.
    • Dominion profiles of a certain place should have the following:
      • A portfolio that contains at least 5 (at the minimum) tropes describing the context of the place.
      • Flavor text count should range at least 10 to 15.
    • Treasure profiles (inanimate objects without a trope) should have the following:
      • A portfolio that contains at least 6 (at the minimum) tropes that describes the object itself.
      • Flavor text count should be at least 7 flavor text up to 12 to constitute a treasure profile.

    Divine Ranking System
  • Overdeity: Omnipotent-level Reality Warpers capable of manipulating the entire universe (or at least the world) at will. Within their own universe they are believed to be omnipotent, or at least impossible-to-completely-destroy embodiments or concepts.
  • Greater Gods: High-level Reality Warpers and that are extremely powerful (capable of destroying or changing anywhere from a large city to a planet at will) and very strong non-reality warpers capable of doing the same thing.
  • Intermediate Gods: Deities at this level are capable of strong but specialized powers such as hydrokinesis, pyrokinesis, etc. without major drawbacks and low level Reality Warpers capable of affecting their immediate area at will.
  • Lesser Gods: Capable of highly specific or little power on their own, or suffer from Power at a Price. However, they may be able to ruthlessly exploit their power or combine it with just being badass enough to make up for it.
  • Demigods: Basically the Badass Normals of the pantheon, making up for their lack of abilities with strength, strategy, and/or planning.
  • Quasideities: Any otherwise normal human, human equivalent, or below without any special powers or training will fall here.

    Templates
Template for adding a new deity:

God X, God/dess of (Insert Trope Here) (Alternate names/Nicknames, Fan Nickname)

  • An image, if possible. Please use official art or a screenshot for a picture.
  • Rank: This can range from Quasideity, Demigod, Lesser God, Intermediate God, Greater God, to Overdeity, based on representation of power mentioned above.
  • Symbol: An image or icon used to represent the deity.
  • Theme Song: Official song (in other words, no fan music, regardless of quality) that usually is used in affiliation with the character. If the deity is a musician this will most likely be their Signature Song. If possible, give a link for reference, preferably on either a website like Soundcloud or YouTube.
  • Alignment: Good, evil, neutral etc. Forget about The Great Character Alignment Debate here, the Pantheon is one of the few places where you can assign Dungeons & Dragons alignment to characters that don't have alignment system. After all, the Pantheon is based on D&D and is made for fun.
  • For Pokémon deities only:
    • Gender: Defines the gender of the Pokémon; if genderless, it instead defines what gender they identify as.
    • Ability: Provides the Pokémon's ability. If they can Mega Evolve, the new ability is listed as well.
    • Moves: Defines the four moves used by a Pokémon. A Z-Move may also be listed.
  • Portfolio: Tropes associated with the character.
  • Domains: Things that the character has influence over.
  • Herald: Non-ascended loyal character that is from the same series as the ascended character.
  • High Priest: Non-ascended like heralds, but not from the same series, and can serve as a worthy replacement in case something would happen. They can be served as part-time workers in case the originals are busy with some jobs. Co-Godhood is accepted depending on the approval of the originals, usually if the co-deity is from the same series.
  • Followers: Non-ascended characters that are not part of the Pantheon, but would probably worship this character by the fact that they share the ascended character's trope.
  • Relationships between ascended characters go here with your chosen character, it goes something like this:
    • Allies: Members of the Pantheon that are allies, those that share the same values as them and would theoretically be friends with them.
    • Rivals: Members of the Pantheon that are rivals, people who may look at your character with suspicion or a challenge.
    • Enemies: Members of the Pantheon that are foes, those who would see your chosen character as a threat, either on their pespective or yours.
    • Additional Character Relationships: Members of the Pantheon that do not fit in various relationships (examples include Enemy Mine, Vitriolic Best Buds, Teeth-Clenched Teamwork, Headbutting Heroes, Friendly Enemy, Friendly Rival, Just Friends, etc.), allies, rivals, or enemies.
    • Partner: Defines a partnership with an ascended deity and Mon-type. (if any)
    • Feared by/Fears: A deity whom the members of the Pantheon notably fear or are feared by.
    • Respected by/Respects: A deity whom the members of the Pantheon respect or are respected by.
    • Opposed by/Opposes: Not necessarily the same as "Enemies", but this is used for any deity whom the members of the Pantheon directly opposes or is opposed by (basically the opposite of "Respects") terms of certain viewpoints, regardless of alignment.
    • Pitied by/Pities: A deity whom the members of the Pantheon feel pity for or are found pitiable by.
    • Conflicting Opinion: Sometimes, the Deities argue over specific themes and philosophies.
  • Add the Intro. The intro is made up of two trivia, the Ascension Text (or just the Ascension) and The Bio. Both are necessary, but which order you use for them may vary depending on the profile in question. It may be better for one profile to have The Bio first and the Ascension second or vice-versa, although for the most part the order is irrelevant:
    • The Ascension Text: This the story of how the character got into the Pantheon and/or was ascended. There are many ways for this to happen. They may be tricked into it or have simply wandered into the Pantheon, they may have had an already ascended character bring them in, they may already be in the Pantheon (via being another deity's Herald or sharing a trope) and got "promoted", or some combination of the above. Anything is possible in the Pantheon, so use your imagination, but try to incorporate their trope into the story, if possible.
    • The Bio: A brief synopsis on the character's backstory. No need for the character's entire life/production history, but just give enough that those who don't know the character can get an idea of how the character works.
  • Now add some random trivia/facts about events/alignments/moments/fights/friendships/relations etc.
  • And some more trivia/facts.
  • And a couple of more.
    • Note: Standard amount of flavor text for Deities/Characters is 10-15 (15-20 for group profiles) at minimum to 20-25 (30 for group profiles) at maximum.

Template for Dominions profiles:

Place X, Place of (Insert Trope Here) (Alternate names/Nicknames, Fan Nickname)

  • An image, if possible. Please use official art or a screenshot for a picture.
  • Theme Song (Optional): Not important as compared to Deity and Dominion profiles but a notable mention if there is an accompanying song in use with the object.
  • Alignment: Refers to the dominion's role in their story, be it those used by villains or used by the Player Character.
  • Portfolio: Tropes associated with the dominion.
  • Domains: Things that the place has links to.
  • Relationships (Optional): Unless the location has a connection with a specific deity, relationships are optional and may not be required. However, if there are deities linked to the same series as where the dominion is linked to, note them using the relationships, this includes deities that theoretically have interest with said dominion, good or evil otherwise.
  • Add the Intro. Here the introduction of the Dominion is added with some tidbits regarding the origins of its' creation and usage in the story. You can also add what made it popular/iconic/important here.
  • Now add some random trivia/facts about events/alignments/moments/fights/friendships/relations etc.
  • And some more trivia/facts.
  • And a couple of more.
    • Note: Standard amount of flavor text for Dominions is 10 at minimum to 15 at maximum.

Template for Treasure profiles:

The name of the item in here (Alternate names/Nicknames, Fan Nickname)

  • An image, if possible. Please use official art or a screenshot for a picture.
  • Appearance: A shortened description of the item's looks with some notable features also mentioned.
  • Class: Refer to the Treasure Classification System in the Great Treasury.
  • Alignment: Refers to the objects' role in their story, be it those used by villains or used by the Player Character.
  • Theme Song (Optional): Not important as compared to Deity and Dominion profiles but a notable mention if there is an accompanying song in use with the object.
  • Museum Check: A note that says whether the item is viewable by the public.
  • Portfolio: Tropes associated with the item.
  • Domains: Things that the item has links to.
  • Relationships (Optional): Unless the item has a connection with a specific deity, relationships are optional and may not be required. However, if there are deities linked to the same series as where the item is linked to (especially the original owner of the item), note them using the relationships, this includes deities that theoretically have interest with said object, good or evil otherwise.
  • Add the Intro. Here the introduction of the Treasure is added with some tidbits regarding the origins of its' creation and usage in the story. You can also add what made it popular/iconic/important here.
  • Now add some random trivia/facts about events/alignments/moments/fights/friendships/relations etc.
  • And some more trivia/facts.
  • And a couple of more.
    • Note: Standard amount of flavor text for Treasures is 7 at minimum to 12 at maximum.

@ Crimson: Several of the dragons the The Dragon Hunters fought and slew throughout their adventures are pretty dinosaur-like. If the Monster Hunters aren't available for whatever reason, I can see them taking care of Anjanath if it gets too belligerent.

Added a bit more on the Black Vortex.

The Black Vortex

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/latest_2_0.jpeg
  • Class Level: 1
  • Appearance: A massive, ornate mirror with the ability to transform anyone into a cosmic being, granting them (depending on their potential) instant Greater God or Overdeity status.
  • Alignment: True Neutral
  • Portfolio: An Ancient, Sentient Mirror Over 12 Billion Years Old, That Can Unleash One's Cosmic Potential (sometimes at the cost of one's sanity), But Temporary In Most Cases
  • Domains: Cosmic Powers
  • Notable Users/Protectors: Gamora, Groot, Cyclops, Kitty Pryde
  • Interested Parties: Lucy, Doom Slayer, Guts, Scorpion, The Deified Members of the Assassin Order, Every Single Villain in the Pantheon
  • Considered to be one of the most powerful relics in the Marvel Universe (not the most powerful relic), the Black Vortex is by far, one of the more dangerous relics that that has ever come to the Pantheon. Created 12 billion years ago (yes, you read that right) by the Celestial Godhead, after the Viscardi Gara had suggested to the Godhead about the desire of their species to expand their potential to near-cosmic levels. Normally, the Black Vortex is safe with Gara, who rested in in the center of a star, the Black Vortex safe in her arms. However, through a series of events that are unknown even to her, the Black Vortex found its way into the Pantheon. Fearing what could happen if some of the more morally-impared deities could do (i.e., all of them), and since the Black Vortex is indestructible, Gara tasked four Protectors to monitor and defend the Black Vortex: Kitty Pryde, Gamora, Groot and Cyclops. Despite it being locked away in the Pantheon's Maximum Security wing, they have their work cut out for them.
  • To use the Black Vortex is quite simple. It is a mirror, one that shows them what they look like with their cosmic potential unlocked. All one needs to do to unlock their cosmic potential is simply utter six words: "I submit to the Black Vortex." Just as the Black Vortex can bestow the person their powers, it can also take them away, showing that it is sentient. There is also the chance that some side-effects can remain, be it mental or physical. The cosmic power can also be willing relinquished or worn put entirely. Gamora's cosmic powers wore themselves out, while Cyclops and Groot relinquished their powers. It's unknown whether or not Kitty still has her cosmic powers, and not even she knows for sure.
    • Guts once stood before the Black Vortex to see what his he would look like if imbued with cosmic powers. It showed that he was able to kill Griffith and exterminate the Godhand, but the power drove him mad, leaving him in a permanent berserker state, killing indiscriminately. Along the victims of his rampage were Casca and the deified members of his party. In the end, Guts decided to put the lives of his friends and lover before his vengeance and chose not to accept the powers of the Black Vortex. However, if a God of Overdeity rank chose to accept the power of the Black Vortex, such as Darkseid, Kronika or Nekron, for example, the resulting apocalyptic scenario would be very, very bad, especially if Kronika is able to use the powers of the Vortex in tandem with her Hourglass, or if Darkseid boosts the power of the Anti-Life Equation with the Vortex. Or, in the case of Lucy Miller, it would probably make her even more annoying, if such a thing was even possible.
  • Of course, that doesn't stop the villainous deities from trying to sneak in where the Black Vortex is being kept. Thankfully, the Pantheon's Security System is top notch and the Vortex's guardians can be called in at a moment's notice. If there is one thing that the Pantheon's demon community can agree on, is that under no circumstances, is the Doom Slayer become a cosmic being. The Slayer peered into the Black Vortex, and let's just say that the Slayer on a Berserker Powerup bender is more preferable, especially since a cosmic-powered Slayer can fight a Cyberdemon, the Dark Lord, and the Spider Mastermind barehanded. And won.

Satori & Koishi Komeiji, Divine Duet of Sibling Polarity (Satori: The Girl Even The Vengeful Spirits Fear, The Sickness in Everyone's Heart, The Youkai with the Lonely Silhouette, Armchair Detective Under the Ground | Koishi: The Closed Eyes of Love, Someone Thinking of Nothing, Imaginary Personality Holder, True Horror! Standing Right Behind You, Unintentionally Closed-Hearted Satori)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/635px_komeiji_whos_who.png
Satori has no hat, Koishi has a hat. The hat helps Koishi relax. <3
  • Lesser Goddesses, though Koishi can content for Intermediate Goddess (Satori can also contend for Intermediate Goddess at her full power, but Koishi could go up to Greater Goddess if fully conscious)
  • Symbol: Their respective third eyes; a small version of Koishi's hat is worn by her closed third eye
  • Leitmotifs: Hartmann's Youkai Girl (Koishi); Satori Maiden ~ Third Eye and The Girl Who Knew Too Much (Satori)
  • Alignments:
  • Portfolio: Youkai, Third Eye, Mind Reading (latter especially for Satori), Great Powers But Terrible Effects
  • Domains: Psychics, Sisters
    • Koishi: Subconscious, Emptiness, Hearts, Roses
    • Satori: Isolation, Investigation
  • Heralds: Rin "Orin" Kaenbyou & Utsuho "Okuu" Reiuji (their servants)
  • Allies: Each other, Reimu Hakurei, Marisa Kirisame, Patchouli Knowledge, Alice Margatroid
  • Enemies: Arael specifically
  • Opposed by:
  • Pitied by: Junko, the good- and neutral-aligned Neon Genesis Evangelion deities
  • Koishi & Satori Komeiji- two sides of the same coin, but if a coin has two different faces, then they are two different people. Satori, the elder sister, is a frail but potent mind reader whose deadpan attitude & lack of social filter has made her a recluse, but is one to care about others and listen to their hardships. Koishi, the younger sister, closed off her ability to mind read and has detached herself from reality, now just a wanderer with terrifying strength and a strange fighting style, as well as being a thoughtless and cheery-looking girl who wants to just…do what, exactly?
  • Ever since the Tenkyuu Uprising, Koishi began making trips to the Hall of Mentalities, a deviation from her usual business of just appearing randomly. It wasn’t hard for Reimu and co. to see why, though- Koishi & Satori had met up again during the Uprising, and now the younger Komeiji sister is having reminiscing thoughts, missing her sister’s presence in the Pantheon. Having decided to leave the Pantheon to pursue a detective career in Gensokyo, Satori had been busy with life there, slowly exiting her Shut In shell to help with cases from time to time. But with Gensokyo’s place in the Pantheon shifting wildly since Chimata’s ascension, allies new and old would have to be ascended in order to meet up with these new and old threats. So with this and making Koishi happy again in mind, Reimu & her fellow incident resolvers took to the Court of the Gods to challenge Yun & Yang Lee for the trope of Sibling Yin-Yang in the Komeiji sisters’ place, a battle which they won handily.
    • The day after, Satori, who was in Chireiden as usual, got a letter delivered to her by one of her servants, Rin Kaenbyou. Inside, as she read with morning coffee in hand, was a invitation to return to the Pantheon to be with her sister Koishi as the Divine Duet of Sibling Polarity. When Rin was approached about Satori’s response, she said that she had never seen so much emotion out of Satori in her entire life up until that moment- being with her sister is, above all else, the most important thing to Satori. And yes, Satori was sipping her coffee when she read it, so she had a spit take upon learning of that fact.
  • Both of the Komeijis are still rather unwelcome to the House of Mentalism despite them moving out of it, and it shows. The other (usually malicious) gods have an emergency code in place for when either sister is seen there- Code Anima, which stands for “If you see a Komeiji, run the other fucking way. Get out of the House if necessary.” Many deities have also adopted this idea, especially given that Satori is one of the Pantheon’s most dangerous mind readers and ability-copying combatants, while Koishi can sneak up on ANYONE due to her closed mind and utilize an unorthodox combat style.
    • Sigmund Freud was one such deity that also picked up this trend, but not initially. Instead, however, he poked fun at Koishi for her rather…phallic bullet designs, a topic that gets Satori riled up, as he really couldn't learn much about her being a prefect representation of his kind of psychology, due to her closed mind. However, like everyone else, Satori has a limit, which was reached when both sisters happened to cross paths with the aforementioned man at the entrance to the House of Love and Affection one time. And, well, shit went down, resulting in Freud being hauled to the House of Health and Diseases and a week-long ban for Satori from the House, though Koishi was abstained because a ban on a someone like her is actually kind of useless.
  • One thing that has been noted by Alice (Margatroid) is that if you invert the colors of their outfits, it would be like they’re wearing each other’s clothes. Koishi thought this would be a fun prank to pull off, so she dragged her sister into doing it, causing quite the confusion when people began seeing Koishi as an antisocial mindreader and Satori as a thoughtless vagrant. Ange le Carré & Princess Charlotte weren’t fazed by these swaps, however, and quickly sussed them out in the open without much trouble, though they were quick to become friends afterward- especially now that Satori knows who actually is Ange and who is Princess.
  • Applies to Koishi:
    • Can call anyone and everyone in the Pantheon through the power of her Urban Legend, Mary-san. She would call them intermittently, ending as she is right behind them, causing quite the fright. Success may vary depending on who she’s scaring and/or whether she has a knife as an additional prop, but it is known to work- just ask Sumireko, and what happened after she got scared off by Koishi, among others.
Sumireko: Koishi always gives me the heebie-jeebies. Like, you get random calls that won’t stop and then you feel something scary from behind, and then, BAM! Koishi’s behind you with a knife! And she probably slashed you with it too, and it hurts like hell!
    • Prior to rejoining her sister Satori under their current trope, Koishi had previously been the Goddess of Subconscious & The Goddess Without A Self. For the former, it was for her abilities outside of the realm of the subconscious- making people see what she wants to see, as well as remaining invisible and unremembered by most. For the latter, it was because of her own state after she had sealed off her third eye, being just a Cloud Cuckoolander without the capacity to actually think nor feel a whole lot, or even nothing at all, hence why she’s very unsettling.
      • There was one recorded time where Koishi’s presence was made more tact & realized- that was, when she took the Mask of Hope from Hata no Kokoro. While she had it, she began feeling more, well, hopeful, allowing others to finally see her, though eventually the mask lost power and she went back to normal. Kokoro has consistently tried, even after this incident, to get that mask back from Koishi, even after Toyosatomimi no Miko made a new one for her. To Kokoro, Koishi is one of her few enemies, a sentiment not really shared by the satori, as well, Koishi loves not thinking.
    • One House that Koishi would frequent happens to be the House of Childhood and Adolescence, which also happens to be where she is visible the most- as she can be seen playing with many of the deities there, and they all remember her due to the nature of these deities in the Pantheon. For example, Byakuren Hijiri, who sometimes invites Koishi into the Myouren Temple, introduced her one day to Wendy Marvell, another visitor to the temple, and were soon fast friends. Also in addition to Wendy are the child deities of the many Studio Ghibli works, who find Koishi to be very charming and quirky. A deity that doesn't think fondly of Koishi, however, is Aya (Drevis, not Shameimaru), as Koishi once went up to her with Alice (Margatroid), and may I remind you that little miss Drevis dislikes dolls, as well as Koishi's generally unsettling schtick. It is worth noting that you'll never find her in the Hall of Teenagers, however, as they are at an age point where Koishi would be just a figment to them.
      • A main motif regarding Koishi happens to be involving roses- a motif seen in her attacks and bullet patterns. She also happens to be usually unseen by most, and is forgotten quite a bit. A god with similar qualities just so happens to be the Mary from the Fabricated World, who also is a young girl with rose motifs, unseen by most (for being stuck in the Fabricated World), and being forgotten (by having her frame burned). They both even have a particular sharp edge of choice- Mary using a palette knife, while Koishi uses a traditional kitchen knife of sorts. The duo have struck up an incredible friendship together, and once again, given the Pantheon's general nature regarding its ascended deities, Mary can never forget about Koishi.
    • Despite being generally unseen and forgotten by most, there is one deity that happens to be on the same axis of existence as Koishi- Bill Cipher. The two are at rather strange odds, however- while Bill can coerce anyone with a mind into his machinations, Koishi literally has no mind. This also means that Bill literally cannot intrude her mind (as a gain, she has none) and therefore cannot use her as a way to attain a Physical Form, at least without attempting to open her closed third eye, something that he really can't seem to pull of due to extraneous circumstances. So if Bill's looking to start something stupid, simply chuck Koishi at him, which, according to Bill himself:
Bill: I dunno how that girl does it, but she (Koishi) somehow gives me the creeps. And I'm an Overdeity!
  • Applies to Satori:
    • Satori is an honorary member of the ESP Research Club, ran by Haruka Kotoura, a membership that still persisted despite Satori’s inital exit from the Pantheon. To Haruka, Satori is like a reflection of her during her lowest point in life. And to Satori, Haruka is like Koishi prior to her closing her eye. Both are very much kindred spirits with each other, and the Research Club are esteemed guests at Chireiden.
      • Some generally opposed mind readers that Satori are generally well with are Psycho Mantis and Kyubey of all deities, the former for similar viewpoints when it comes to mind reading, and the latter because, well, it just simply leaves Satori alone without too much bother. Both Solid Snake & the Puella Magi are rather concerned about this, and specifically Homura Akemi is critical of Satori being benign towards Kyubey.
      • Sona Buvelle, Mikoto Misaka and Lucario, though, are more amicable deities that Satori’s also friends with, as they generally don’t mind having their minds being read, and they can communicate with each other through Telepathy. And while still an ally, she doesn’t exactly like the fact that Manabe, a member of the ESP Research Club, usually has fantasizied about her, not like she had such thoughts towards Tsubasa Kudamaki one time, no. However, since her first departure, Cole McGrath had also departed from the Pantheon, leaving only his Evil Counterpart Kessler, who while also can block his mind out from readers like her, isn’t as good of a friend to Satori as Cole was.
    • Having powers isn’t always great; sometimes, the experience with them just sucks, especially for mind readers, a statement that Yayoi Kise made after she was sharply reminded of Haruka prior to meeting Manabe when she saw Satori one time, and all of a sudden felt sad about it, herself. A more recent case happens to be Sayori of the Doki Doki Literature Club, who at one point gained, and still holds the position of, the title of Club President, a position that Monika initially held but then resented after some time. Their meeting was…disheartening, to say the least, as Satori’s presence must’ve triggered something in Sayori to remember the bad version of herself that Monika and (Insert Name Here) had witnessed, which in turn triggered Satori’s own memories of her sister when she still had her eye open, crying to her. The encounter would be especially felt in the House of Despondency, who all thought that the Knight of Justice was unleashing her powers again; as for Sayori, she would sometimes meet with Satori since that meeting if her depression flares up.
    • Satori still usually holes up in her temple when not in Chireiden, a sentiment shared by Patchouli, who stays in either her temple or the SDM’s library. They usually chat over the Internet about what they’ve been doing, a conversation that is surprisingly long given how little they go out. While Patchouli used to dislike Satori for calling Koakuma evil at one point, she remembered that that was an Alternate Timeline, which heavily softened this contempt.
    • The House of Beasts and Fauna are fond of Satori for being an animal caretaker herself, as is a fellow Gensokyoan in Kasen Ibaraki. Being a mind reader means she can telepathically communicate to non-vocal animals, which make up quite a bit of the wildlife. The Hall of Beast Handlers also appreciate Satori’s presence, as through her, they can be able to communicate with the animals they take care of. Those who visit Chireiden would often tell you that animals mainly inhabit it, further cementing Satori as a friend to them.
    • The reason why Satori initially left the Pantheon was, as stated, to pursue a career in detective work. While it didn't pan out as expected, it has gotten Satori further interested into the world of investigation. Thanks to Ange & Princess, Satori had a meeting with the famed detective Sherlock Holmes & his assistant, Dr. John Watson, but both were naturally critical of Satori's mind-reading abilities, saying that "They really kill the suspense & thrill of an investigation.". As for Sherlock's rival James Moriarty, he lambasted her, not just because of the aforementioned reason of mind-reading, but that Mizuchi Miyadeguchi, the Moriarty to Satori's Sherlock, is equally poor as a nemesis, among other things.
  • October 3rd & 4th, 2022. Days that may seem normal to most, but to Gensokyo, they are haunting days, despite them never really happening in their reality. This is because on the former day, Koishi went out to find a fishing rod for her to catch fish for dinner. This seemingly innocent action would spiral out of control into one of the most horrifying renditions of Gensokyo and its people to date, a reality that thankfully wasn't fully founded.
    • The Neon Genesis Evangelion-esque nature of the story, especially after it specifically mentions a Human Instrumentality Project within it, has gotten associated deities rather riled up. The more good and netural Evangelion deities really pity the Komeiji sisters for being thrust into a plot as harshly and cruelly they were. Arael, however, was rather joyful upon learning of this strange bizarro timeline, and would be more than willing to use it as leverage against the sisters. Koishi was already quite opposed to the angel because of its Mind Rape capabilities, as was Satori prior to her first exit from the Pantheon (especially because she's more vunerable to it than her younger sister), so naturally, both have declared Arael an enemy of Chireiden.
    • If Junko couldn't find any more reasons to hate the Lunarians, she just happened to learn of this timeline, specifically. And she fucking flipped her shit, now citing it as one of the many atrocities that the Moon has caused. Well, given what happens, she is right in a way, but a lot of deities counter her by bringing up its rather non-canonical nature and contradictions towards established conventions. Nonetheless, she also feels pity towards the Komeijis regarding this.

Hello folks! It's been a while since I've posted but I wanted to bring up something you're all probably aware of. Ash Ketchum's journey has officially ended and I feel that we should keep his profile in the Hype Prevention Sandbox for a few months.

I would like to hear your thoughts on this.

Thank you.

Don't we do that for every character or work when there's a huge lore update? We should also probably put Roy and Liko in there, despite the fact they weren't ascended. They still have some focus due to being his successors. I got some facts wrong, didn't I?

On the topic of yeeting specific characters in the sandbox, permission to throw in Jack Bright and his relatives in it due to certain things surrounding the character? I know he hasn't been ascended, just want it there just in case. SCP is high profile around here.

[down]Added.

@snafu: If I remember correctly, The Black Vortex was originally in the Treasures, but was deleted during an overhaul to The Great Treasury. What you're doing is writing a profile in an attempt to force it back in without properly writing down a suggestion as to why it should be there. [tdown]

Rough draft for Arnie and Christine.

Arnie was formerly a bullied nerd before he bought Christine and as he got obsessed with the car (including using it to get revenge on those who bullied him), he became much more aggressive and antagonistic towards his former friends in addition to abandoning his previously nerdy attitude. Christine is a murderous car that is just as obsessed with Arnie.

Looking for suggestions for interactions.

Arnie

Christine
  • Lesser Deity (Christine) and Quasideity (Arnie)
  • Symbol: Christine itself
  • Theme Music: Bad to the Bone
  • Alignment: Neutral Evil (Arnie was formerly True Neutral)
  • Portfolio: Villain Protagonist, Yandere Couple
  • Domains: Cars, Corruption
  • Superior: Stephen King
  • Enemies: Lightning McQueen
  • Arnold Cunningham is a nerdy teenager who in the face of having controlling parents and being bullied in school, only has one real friend in football player Dennis Guilder. Arnie decides to buy a beat-up car despite Dennis having problems with it and it leads to Arnie becoming obsessed with Christine (as it was named by the previous owner who was obsessed with it like Arnie would be) and his attitude taking a turn for the worse. Christine also has supernatural properties to it, being able to recover from injuries and killing anyone that threatens the well-being of itself or its current owner. Arnie takes advantage of it to get revenge on some bullies, but such aggressive behavior becomes too much for Dennis to accept and he recruits the help of Leigh Cabot, Arnie’s ex-girlfriend who broke up with him over his worsening behavior, to destroy Christine and save Arnie. There was no way for Arnie’s psychological condition to recover due to him dying during the final confrontation with Christine and while the car is eventually stopped via being flattened with a bulldozer, such an action might not be enough to permanently destroy it.
  • So much junk was present at a massive landfill in the Pantheon that included leftover objects no one was using, broken portals to other locations that were ordered to be destroyed, and rejected applications that many filled out to try and be part of the Pantheon. Wall-E was working there one day to clean up some garbage when he noticed a peculiar looking cube that had a part sticking out that was twitching. He was startled by it, but when T-Bone and Razor investigated that strange junked cube after being told about it, the item in question had already disappeared, leading them to believe that it was either some dumb joke or someone really wanted whatever was inside it. Elsewhere at a hospital, a patient by the name of Arnie Cunningham was waking up from a bad injury and the first thing he asked was where Christine was. The hospital staff learned that “Christine” wasn’t a girl, but a car Arnie really liked and as it turned out, Christine (who was brought back to peak condition by some sickos who believed that getting a beat-up car at the junkyard was easy and ended up paying it with their lives after the car was restored) was parked outside the hospital waiting for Arnie to recover from his terrible injuries. After he recovered, Arnie was prepared for life in the Pantheon with Christine, looking no worse for the wear and acting no better than he did after getting that car.
  • Lightning Mcqueen already had his reasons to dislike Christine for being a sentient car that is willing to kill anyone that gets in its way, but he was unsettled at how Arnie changed as a result of being with Christine. Arnie was originally a spineless nerd who became vindictive and petty as a result of being with Christine, a change that Lightning noted was a dark mirror to how he went from cocky racer to someone with plenty of humility after ending up in Radiator Springs and befriending the residents there. Regardless of whether or not there is something supernatural going on with Arnie’s change in attitude, Lightning believes that Christine is bad news especially after hearing about how a previous owner underwent a similar change that Arnie went through. Talking to Arnie to try and change his demeanor for the better has proven difficult (especially since Arnie has retorted that Lightning already had a good life even before he learned not to think solely of himself) and Lightning has had to rely on his surroundings and his friends to prevent Christine from turning him into scrap metal.

Wait, why put characters who already have profiles into the hype prevention sandbox? I'm not arguing, this is a genuine question.

[up] Because they still have relevancy regarding hype from new content like a new series or an announced installment that would bring unwanted bias or over-focus that would better off be waited out so people can properly digest the new information.

That said, I personally think the HPS is a bit flawed when it comes to handling reworks for profiles from long-running series or questionable development of remakes, when said profiles need reworks in general. The HPS is still more than fine regarding characters of new works or installments, though.

[tup] for the Komeijis.

@r-lock: Bender had a moment where he became a werecar which was a Shout-Out to The Car. Coop has a highly valued car which is also the head of a powerful mecha called MEGAS. The Racing Drones are a dangerous group of driving robots who will win races even if they'd try to wreck other cars to win.

Time for another pitch!

  • The Koish School, Collective Gods of Video Game Enemy Variants
    • Koish is the only Temtem that can be found on every island in the Airborne Archipelago. It has twelve variants; one is a pure Water type, while the rest have one of the eleven other types as their secondary types. Two variants can be found on each island. Each variant has a different colour and head shape that corresponds to its type's design motifs.

Also, I'm considering removing Cindy Cimolestes from my ideas sandbox because there's not much to her. If anyone else has an idea for a Meek Mesozoic Mammal god, I'd be happy to help.

[up][up][up]I dunno much about Dragon Ball, but I feel like the Saibamen are a better choice according to what I've heard, since they actually appear in a series as actual characters and not generic video game characters.

Just saying this as "there's better options", not really a counter suggestion.

And yes, I know they're not video game characters but they've appeared in video games.

[up] For Underground Monkey the Saibamen don't really have a feel for that trope imo. The Aurum of Kid Icarus: Uprising is another suitable suggestion for that trope given that they're some alien force that makes copies of already established enemies. Though the Koish School is still a good idea so I can't really say it's a decisive counter-suggestion

[up][up] The Aurum sounds like a fantastic choice. They take it above and beyond.

Worth mentioning is that the Chaos Kin makes the duplicates of the Aurum enemies it created fight alongside the enemies it was based off of that it creates, taking it to the extreme.
