  • Enemies: All Good-Aligned Mario deities (Especially Mario and Princess Peach), Bowser, Ashley, Sage, Magolor, Son Goku, victims of Demonic Possession, especially Hotaru Tomoe, Robin, Leah and Abigail Williams, the Heroic Keyblade Wielders, especially Riku, Lucifer, YHVH, Galeem, The Hall of Joy and Happiness, Samurai Jack, Korra, Raava, Devola and Popola, Isaac, Ash Williams, The Doom Slayer
  • Opposes: Pops Maellard
  • Fears: Kirby
  • The Shadow Queen is a powerful demon who once terrorized the city of Rogueport before four heroes came to stop her, using her own Crystal Stars against her to seal her away. However, she cursed them with a Fate Worse than Death. As soon as they didn’t have the Crystal Stars on their person, they were transformed into demons trapped in black chests. She was also behind the calamity that affected the city where Rogueport now stands, its remains lying underground in the sewers. She would soon be unleashed upon the world once more by Grodus, who was manipulated by Beldam into believing that she would be bound to serve the one who released her. She possessed Peach, destroyed Grodus’ body when he tried to command her, leaving him as nothing but a head and offered to let Mario become her servant. If you accept, you get a Non-Standard Game Over. If you refuse, you have to fight the Queen. Mario and his partners soon put an end to the Shadow Queen for good, expelling the demon from Peach’s body.
  • It was a nice day in the Pantheon. Nothing chaotic was going on, with most of the villains either planning or having Go-Karting with Bowser and Villains Out Shopping moments. This all changed when the sky turned a pitch black and a mad laugh filled the air. A woman appeared, wearing a purple dress.
Shadow Queen: ”At long last...the Pantheon shall know true darkness...”
  • She revealed herself to be the Shadow Queen, who happened to be possessing an artificial copy of Princess Peach’s body, its creation engineered by Melkor himself. Two of the heroes present, Mario and Princess Peach, were not happy to see her return. Mario and Princess Peach, with the aid of some other deities, took on the Queen. A long battle occurred, but ultimately she was defeated once more, the sky returning to normal afterwards. The Shadow Queen later woke up in the House of Life and Vitality, before going to her temple to plan things out...
    • One of the deities in question who led to her defeat? Goku. When she went One-Winged Angel, nobody could hurt her anymore because the Crystal Stars were not present to gather positivity from the Pantheon’s citizens. As a result, Goku was forced to perform a Spirit Bomb, which hit her dead on and shattered her invulnerability.
  • Really does not like Pops Maellard, as due to her weakness being a mass amount of positive energy, he’s like walking kryptonite to her. She hasn’t taken action against him yet due to the amount of powerful deities he has befriended, knowing that an attack on Pops right now would only result in her death.
  • Her darkness attracts The Heartless, so she has decided to begin controlling them, knowing that should they turn against her, the rebellion would be cut short due to her insane power as well as her true form’s invulnerability which cannot be bypassed by them. It is for these reasons that The Dark Matter Horde doesn’t try to attack her, as the Shadow Queen’s invulnerability means they likely couldn't harm her... But since Dark Matter also can only be harmed by powerful sources of positive energy, the Shadow Queen really can't do anything to them either. The two forces have decided to largely just stay out of each other's way, something the Shadow Queen is happy to abide by, because it means she won't have to fight the Dark Matter Horde's archenemy Kirby. Kirby happen to be in possession of multiple weapons that would absolutely annihilate her, even through her invulnerability, especially things like the Love Love Stick, and any Friend Star. Additionally, Kirby has a well documented ability to destroy the souls of especially dangerous foes, all of which combine into a very grim prospect for the Shadow Queen, one she dreads ever having to face.
  • Those who are victims of Demonic Possession hate her. Chief among them are Robin, Leah, Hotaru Tomoe and Abigail Williams, all four of them knowing what it is like to have a demon controlling them. This is something the Shadow Queen scoffed at, declaring that they would soon know her as their Queen. Hotaru in particular hates her the most, the evil demon reminding her far too much of Mistress Nine, a creature that once took over her body.
  • Light Is Good deities are usually called to dispel the darkness in the sky that appears wherever she goes. It is big enough to cover entire worlds, something which attracted the attention of the heroic Keyblade wielders, though Riku hates her the most due to her similarities to Ansem, both of them hijacking the body of someone close to the hero and them being forced to fight against them. The fact that she uses The Heartless makes things worse. Kairi also opposes her as she reminds her of Xehanort, who had put her and her friends through Hell. On the other hand, she and Ansem get along very well and will work together to accomplish their goals.
  • Her invulnerability is completely ridiculous. It goes so far to the point where ridiculously powerful attacks like Supernova and Earth Tremor can’t even harm her, and stopping time won’t affect her. Even without her invulnerability, stopping time will still have no affect on her at all. Needless to say, whenever she attacks, it usually takes multiple deities to take her down.
  • YHVH views her as an abomination that needs to be destroyed, as such a world she desires would be, in his eyes, too chaotic. He seeks to make her face a Fate Worse than Death, but unfortunately for him, she not only has Melkor's protection, but her invulnerability has allowed her to utterly Curb Stomp anyone he has sent after her thus far. YHVH is frustrated by this while The Shadow Queen is simply amused.
    • Lucifer doesn't have a much better opinion of her, as he views her as a deranged maniac who seeks to terrorize others because it amuses her as well as cast the world into darkness. He is perfectly willing to fight her himself if things get too bad in order to preserve his plans and destroy her.
  • Thanks to Melkor restoring her to life, she feels she owes him a great debt and will help him and his alliance out in any way she can, though she is refraining from joining due to the membership of one Bowser, who loathes her with every fiber of his being. The Shadow Queen laughed when she learned of this, finding him to be, in her words, amusing for a pathetic worm.
  • She did find similarly minded beings in the form of Ra Moon and Cell, both of them absolutely relishing in evil, destruction and fear. The Shadow Queen welcomes them both as allies and she feels that this alliance could only benefit the trio, much to the displeasure of most of the Pantheon.
  • Absolutely considering kickstarting a project to give Dark Gaia a form of intelligence, something which most of the Pantheon is heavily opposed to and she has been opposed at every turn, much to her eternal frustration. Fortunately for her, Melkor has decided to aid her in this endeavor, which displeased many other deities.
  • Mario was very confused when attacks on the level of Supernova weren't able to harm her while she was invulnerable even when they could have done so before. She responded by saying that she dealt with that issue. Her attacks also cut through any type of additional defense, so even Overdeities have trouble taking her on. It’s even worse if she is still invulnerable.
  • Became rivals with a few other Dark Is Evil rulers. King Sombra is on good terms with her when it comes to their rivalry yet his ego leads him to believe that he is superior to her in every aspect, though finds her to be a worthy rival. Sauron wants her dead for how chaotic she is when he wants to bring law. However, the fiercest rival she has is the leader of the Dead Moon Circus, Queen Nehelenia. They both want to shroud the world in darkness and will bring chaos if it means accomplishing it. They have been competing against each other, much to the relief of their enemies, as they aren’t sure if they can stop the two if they worked together.
  • Is interested in the Dark Star, noting that she should be fine around the item as it would only be copying the body she is inhabiting, and even then her true form wouldn’t budge even an inch to the creature. She also gets along with Aku, though the Shogun Of Sorrow thinks she should relax a bit. She is enemies with Samurai Jack, as he has proven to be able to cut through her invulnerability with his sword, which is something the Shadow Queen was NOT amused by.
  • The Shadow Queen wants to destroy the entire House of Joy and Happiness as well as slaughter all who reside there. This is because a massive amount of positive energy being weaponized against her will shatter her invulnerability.
  • Has quite the relationship with Korra. She proved capable of sealing her away without use of the Crystal Stars, though admittedly she had to do it before she transformed. After being freed from her seal by Melkor, the Shadow Queen has sworn to transform and slaughter her immediately the next time she sees her. She also doesn't like Raava for it being a Big Good, the two sometimes clashing against each other. Vaatu, however, has a much better relationship with her than those two as they both seek to plunge the world into darkness, that being the end goal for both it and the Shadow Queen. It has decided to help her out from time to time, much to the displeasure of many other deities.
  • Then, you wretched fools...you will learn the error of your ways!

  • Lesser Deities in their DEMONICAs, Demideities out of them. All have become Intermediate Deities (exc. Hitonari in the Neutral Ending) with the power to take overdeities in Hitonari's case, and Hitonari becomes a Greater God in the New Neutral Ending

  • Theme Song: Morale (Hitonari), Theme Of Law and Holy Miracle (Zelenin), Theme of Chaos and The Tyrannical Hero (Jimenez)
  • Alignment:
  • Portfolio:
  • Domain(s): Marines, Exploration, Demons, Law, Chaos, Neutral
  • Heralds: Arthur (Neutral paths only), their respective Schwarzwelt Investigational Teams (all), Bugaboo (Jimenez only)
  • High Priest(ess): The Nameless Hero(ine)/Villain(ess)
  • Followers: Kyle Katarn, Sarah, Leonhardt Raglan, The Kalach-Cha/Knight-Captain, Aramus/The Force Commander
  • Allies: (Insert Name Here)
  • Teeth-Clenched Teamwork: The Imperium of Man (Neutral and New Law Paths), Asura (New Law Path)
  • Enemies: The Grand United Alliance of Destruction, Dharkon, Chakravartin, The Godhand, Griffith, Fused Zamasu, Sundowner, the Corpus, the Khan Maykr
  • Supported by: Lucifer (New Neutral, New Chaos, and—yes—New Law Paths)
  • It's a well-known fact that the Shin Megami Tensei games have multiple endings based on the Player Character's alignment: Law, Chaos, or Neutral. But out of all of the Great Will's Messiahs, who should represent that aspect? The First Hero wouldn't do since one of his paths becomes canon. The Second One, Aleph, seem to have all his endings lead to the same conclusion, and his outcomes aren't widely varied. The Third, the Demi-Fiend, is fated to return under the trope Faustian Rebellion or Kingmaker Scenario. The Fourth, Flynn, is already in the Pantheon representing Samurai Ponytail. And there are other fates in store for Nanashi and the Nahobino, who don't fit the trope as neatly anyway. That was when an answer was found.
  • The protagonist of Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey, to be addressed by his Drama CD name Tadano Hitonari, was a Japanese (or American) soldier of Earth during a present-day time period when the Schwarzwelt appeared in Antarctica. The United Nations assembled a quartet of teams comprised of the brightest minds, most talented soldiers (Hitonari among them), and the most advanced technology they had available. Their mission: enter and explore the interior of the Schwarzwelt, and find a way to stop it before the entire world is consumed. Of course, things aren't as simple as that. Their foes proved far more dangerous than it seemed, the Schwarzwelt's reason for existing proved more complicated than it seemed, and the demons proved invisible to the naked eye before a Mysterious Benefactor granted them the Demon Summoning Program for a fighting chance. Humanity would be tested as they explored the Schwarzwelt, and circumstances led to Hitonari being in the lead and ultimately deciding the fate of his kind.
  • Due to the nature of his trope, all of his versions were required to ascend. That not only meant the Neutral, Law, and Chaos versions, but their New versions too, leading to a total of six. Upon hearing who was planned for ascension, YHVH was quick to bring forth the versions fitting His own path while Cosmos (with anonymous aid from Lucifer) helped ascend the rest. In terms of residences, to minimize clashes with one another, their temples take the form of five Red Sprites, the hover-capable landships that the Schwarzwelt Investigational Team used to explore the demon realms, but modified and miniaturized to enable reasonable solo travel with it. Why five when there are six Hitonaris? The two Neutral Hitonaris share a "temple" because they share the same ideals; there's no point in separating them. While the other New Hitonaris are also good people, they have their separate agendas that can take them to different places in the Pantheon.
  • However, due to clerical issues, there was a purge that removed most of the Shin Megami Tensei representatives. And most of the Strange Journey reps were among them. But when the move to bring Hitonari back came, the Grand United Alliances of Law and Chaos separately wanted Zelenin and Jimenez back. Upon realizing what exactly the trope meant, the GUAG in response decided to have the non-Hitonari Neutral representative of the alignment, Commander Gore, be included in this new group ascension as well. The Court approved of this, and just like with Hitonari, on top of the Zelenin and Jimenez that first came to the Pantheon, one other version of each arrived as well, representing two of the New Endings. As for Gore however, only one of him made it to the Pantheon, as there is little differing opinion he would have between the two Neutral Endings. And so the Zelenins, Jimenez-es, and Gore were transfered to each different Red Sprite, joining each Hitonari that they've swayed (or who had swayed them in the case of the New Path Hitonaris).
  • In case a refresher is needed:
    • A scientist sent to investigate the Schwarzwelt and keep it from wiping out humanity, Zelenin was captured and tortured by demons, giving her an intense hatred of them. During her journey through the parallel world, Zelenin's opinion of humanity was eroded away by the sight of their sins, and she gained a new appreciation for the order and nobility of the angels. It came to a head when she was offered divine power by the angel Mastema: becoming an angel, the resulting new entity quickly lost herself to the power of the heavens and fell in with the angels. Zelenin continues to work with YHVH to power herself up enough to spread her song through the pantheon, wipe it clean of free will and bring a new age of Law. But just like Hitonari, there are two versions of her; one that stays her current path, and one whose mind is changed after Alex came from the former's future and pleaded for her to bring salvation to humanity.
    • A soldier sent to investigate the Schwarzwelt and keep it from wiping out humanity, Jimenez ran across an abused demon named Bugaboo, who he adopted. During his journey through the parallel world, Jimenez's opinion of humanity was eroded away by the sight of their sins, and he gained a new appreciation for the wildness and freedom of the demons. It came to a head when he and Bugaboo were forced by the cruel Captain Jack into a twisted experiment: to save both his and Bugaboo's life, Jimenez had a comrade fuse the two of them together, and the resulting new entity quickly lost himself to his new power and fell in with the demons. Jimenez continues to work with Mem Aleph to awaken the Schwarzwelt, wipe the Pantheon clean of civilization and bring a new age of Chaos. But just like Hitonari, there are two versions of him; one that stays him current path, and one where he realizes the hypocrisy of his goal after Alex points out what he did for Bugaboo.
    • As for Gore, he was the Commander in charge of the Schwarzwelt Investigational Team. When he was killed in action, his last command was to transfer his duties to Hitonari. He would later come back to life as a "Ubergestalt" thanks to the energies of the Schwarzwelt and Mother Maia to serve as a herald for her, Mem Aleph, and the other Mothers. His experiences however have only reinforced his faith in humanity, essentially making him the representative for the Neutral Path. There, close to the final stretch of this strange journey, he eventually judges Hitonari where he stands; humanity, angels, or demons. If Hitonari chooses any of the latter two, or is already deeply aligned into either of those, Gore will regard him as a danger to humanity and fight him to the death. Following his end, Arthur self-terminates, the Red Sprite is left in a state of disrepair, and Jimemez or Zelenin (depending on Hitonari's alignment) storm the Red Sprite and work their brainwashing mojo. If Hitonari proves pro-humanity, Gore tasks him with the final mission of destroying Mem Aleph, and gives him the "brilliance" to see Mem Aleph in her true form, and provides information to Arthur on how to destroy the Schwarzwelt before fading away from existence. Unlike everyone else before him, only one iteration of Gore exists.

  • Applies to all or some of them:
    • Wanna know what exactly their paths took them? Well…
      • Law Hitonari followed Zelenin and helped turn his Earth into a world of total peace where it devotes itself solely to praising the greatness of God (YHVH).
      • Chaos Hitonari followed Jimenez and helped turn his Earth into a primordial world of gods and demons, where only the strongest survive and humanity is expected to suffer for their role in disrupting the natural order.
      • Neutral Hitonari sided with Gore, is blessed with his "brilliance" before fading away, and successfully performs the original mission of the Investigational Team and destroys the Schwarzwelt, but it's implied that it will return so long as humanity doesn't get its act together.
      • New Law Hitonari turned Zelenin around thanks to Alex's pleas to aid humanity, and helepd turn his Earth into a peaceful world without violence that still has its free will, but runs the risk of leaving humanity vulnerable without the will to fight should a threat arise.
      • New Chaos Hitonari turned Jimenez around thanks to Alex pointing out the hypocrisy in his worldview given what he did for Bugaboo, and helped turn his Earth into one where nature flourishes and humanity can live in harmony with gods, demons and the Earth. Instead of a world ruled by strength, it becomes a world filled with infinite possibilities for humanity, where each person is free to act as they choose.
      • New Neutral Hitonari, also with Gore's blessing of "brilliance", destroys the Schwarzwelt like his "old" counterpart, but thanks to Alex's warning of the future also uses the Cosmic Fruit to become Earth's immortal protector against the Schwarzwelt as it appears again and again until humanity can learn its lesson and break the Eternal Recurrence themselves.
    • Despite whatever blessings they've received (if they still retain them), all versions of Hitonari still fight as they did before; with swords, guns, and summoned demons. Being of differing alignments, there is naturally opposition among themselves, though mainly from the Law and Chaos Hitonaris, even against their New counterparts. Even New Chaos and New Law have their disagreements. It's a good thing their temples are separate. In case you're wondering how Hitonari can either be Japanese or American? Well, he's half of both ethnicities. By contrast, Gore, Zelenin, and Jimenez have since discarded their DEMONICAs and embraced their new powers. Out of them, only Gore didn't cast away his faith in humanity (and the other Zelenin and Jimenez regained it thanks to Alex and Hitonari).
      • It was a surprise to discover that the DEMONICA was in the Pantheon's Treasury. Now that there are six more suits, a change of policy has been in consideration in regards to requisitioning and reverse-engineering it. Thus this gave the Grand United Alliances of Good, Law, and Chaos a head start in research. The GUAs of Evil and Destruction, as well as the various Uprisings are now dedicated to capturing the Hitonaris in order to requisition their DEMONICAs for themselves. Other independent forces not among the above who have interest in the suits are trying the same. While they're not exactly on their old mission anymore, the Hitonaris' expedition in the Schwarzwelt has conditioned them to pick up everything in sight that doesn't have a clear owner (and perhaps beat up the owner if there is and if they think it can benefit them more). The good Hitonaris do their best to use their manners, though.
    • Besides those who desire total annihilation of all life, given their interactions with Jack's Squad, there's one thing all Hitonaris share their despisal for; all Private Military Contractors and Mad Scientists, especially if they lack any sort of morals. And in the case of Law, Chaos, and (to a lesser extent) New Law Hitonaris, the alignment of these mercenaries or doctors doesn't matter to them; they all must die horribly. As for the others, it just means they're really slow to trust the less malevolent ones like Raiden and Agatha Heterodyne. Since there are multiple Hitonaris, all of them would naturally be aware of Funny Valentine because of his Stand's ability to easily obliterate them if they are not careful. The only one who doesn't quite have to worry about that tidbit is Law Hitonari due to the president's affiliations with the GUAL.
    • No matter their standing, no matter what morals they support, Zamasu has deemed every single one of them enemies by the sole virtue of having been born as mortal humans (despite being part mortal himself). It doesn't matter if they have shed it or not, or have turned their backs on them as "Old" Law and "Old" Chaos Hitonari, Zelenin, and Jimenez have done. Law Zelenin in particular finds this disappointing since the two do share a desire for a World of Silence and their hatred for humanity, and the fact that Zamasu also wants to wipe out all gods except for himself (which include YHVH and His Angels under that umbrella).

  • Exclusive to the Neutral paths:
    • New Neutral Hitonari told the "Old" Neutral Hitonari about the latter's future and its eventual doom via another Schwarzwelt. Neutral Hitonari almost lost his faith since humanity learned nothing and repeated their mistakes to end this way, and Commander Gore just barely avoided suffering the same fate. However, Makoto Naegi was able to restore his faith in humanity. New Neutral Hitonari was unable to help in this case as he inadvertently serves as an example of the fruitlessness of his struggle since his world's humanity is relying on another higher being for their safety and has been doing so for 150 years before his ascension to the Pantheon.
    • Due to his never-ending crusade against the Schwarzwelt, being a soldier heading off into another dimension, being completely and totally human and facing off against monsters that are more or less the stuff of nightmares, it was natural that Doomguy would be a steadfast ally of New Neutral Hitonari (and the older one, too) and Commander Gore. They even go hunting demons together on occasion, though Hitonari has to avoid summoning his own lest Doomguy commit Friendly Fire on it, and most of the summoned that wouldn't draw his attention are usually unable to stomach the carnage.
    • With their new situation in the Pantheon, as well as everything it has to offer, the Arthur that came with New Neutral Hitonari decided it would be best to share resources with the GUAG after deducing Cosmos' intentions. There was a little bit of hesitation on this since they heard of the Lockdown Kazuya Minegishi and his friends experienced, the Demon Summoning everybody got, and the chaos that ensued. However, given the technological state of the Pantheon and all of its residents, this worry was mostly unfounded.
    • On occasion, New Neutral Hitonari goes to the moon to relax, just as he's done for the past 150 years after becoming immortal. On occasion, he gets fellow visitors who sit with him, and he wouldn't mind their presence (even if it was someone like Nightmare Moon) as long as he isn't messed with.

  • Exclusive to the Law paths:
    • Law Zelenin (and Law Hitonari) get along swimmingly with Malthael: both realize The Evils of Free Will, and the abilities of the two work together very well: death is ultimately an escape from Zelenin's brainwashing, and Malthael has that covered by bringing the deceased back as mindless thralls so that they can continue their worship. With the two of them working in concert, there is no escape from the light of The Lord. Frollo once tried to hit on Zelenin, enraptured as he was by the sight of her angelic beauty, and she nailed him with a Megido Storm for his trouble. He then tried again with Law Zelenin, and met the exact same fate of death... from New Law Hitonari.
    • Law Zelenin's song has the power to erase all emotion from those hit by it, leaving them empty shells mindlessly babbling praises to The Lord. It's roundly considered by others to be a Fate Worse than Death: her ultimate plan is to subject all of creation to it, erasing free will from the fabric of reality and leaving only deference to God. As for New Law Zelenin, she would rather just eliminates the emotion of human spite, removing the impulse for humans to be cruel to each other for no reason, leaving free will intact. Nautrally, both of them and their corresponding ally Hitonaris are at odds with one another in regards to how far one needs to go to quell chaos. New Law Zelenin has tried telling her "past" counterpart that their song won't bring about the Wold Of Silence desired by YHVH, that half of humanity is naturally resistant to its effects, and their utopia would result in genocide. But as with all knight templars, neither Zelenin is willin to budge in their worldviews
    • Law Zelenin looks down on benevolent creator deities like Aslan and The Love That Moves The Stars: on top of being 'false gods' as she puts it, they put far too much stock in 'humanity's inherent virtue', whatever the heck that is: humans have no virtue to speak of as far as Zelenin is concerned. Once she finds the proper pitch and timbre for her song to enthrall even them, she'll prove that only the absolute control of YHVH can bring peace to the world. Should that fail, she will do her duty as a soldier of God and (attempt to) destroy them. Naturally, New Law Zelenin is willing to defend these two gods, and while the Love That Moves The Stars approves of her newfound method of her song, Aslan is disappointed in her removing humanity's will to grow and rise up.
    • New Law Hitonari is admired by several deities who abhor violence and are idealistic enough to think that his world would be absolutely perfect. Among these is Peaceful!Markus, as he too prefers non-violence and advocates peaceful existence for his fellow androids.

  • Exclusive to the Chaos paths:
    • As those who embrace the use of demons and heavily oppose the forces of Law, both Chaos Hitonaris have looked to adding more allies to their cause from the Hall of Demons, and other demons. (Old) Chaos Hitonari sought those who valued strength above all else, while New Chaos Hitonari prefered those who valued the right of freedom. The latter was hard-pressed to find allies than the former, but allies he did manage to find, mainly in the form of Sparda (despite his worldview, and one of his sons Vergil being an utter Might Makes Right advocate, thouh he did have sympathetic reasons for that), and the Aensland sisters.
    • Not liking to take orders more than they have to, both iterations of Jimenez and their corresponding supporting Hitonaris are members of Lucifer's Chaos Brigade, with the New Chaos iterations being more of Token Good Teammates. Chaos Jimenez is nursing ambitions to ascend to Lord of Chaos status, but that's still a little beyond his reach. He hasn't given up trying to make himself strong enough to go for it, though.
    • Chaos Jimenez's alliance with Wesker has turned heads, particularly as he was the subject of the sort of mad science Wesker is known for. Honestly, Jimenez couldn't care less, so long as Wesker doesn't screw with any demons. Heck, trying to uplift humanity to survive in a wild, chaotic world is a noble cause in Jimenez's eyes. To this end, he's given Wesker a sample of the Delphinus Parasite. New Chaos Jimenez on the other hand isn't exactly opposed to the idea... as long as humanity is allowed to choose whether or not they accept this gift. But he suspects Wesker is more of the type to force his choice, so he's not friends with the mutated Mad Scientist.
    • Despite his inhumanity, there's a flicker of Jimenez's old self in him: he's perfectly capable of showing kindness and camaraderie to those he deems worthy. An example of this is Luka: he admires the kid for overthrowing Ilias for the sake of monsters. While (Old) Chaos Jimenez has surrendered himself to his demonic instincts despite this respect, New Chaos Jimenez also sees Luka as an ally for the same reasons as his counterpart. And they don't actually hate each other as much as they thought they would unlike the Zelenins, since they and the Chaos Hitonaris both respect each other's strength and their displeasure for angels.
    • New Chaos Jimenez eventually convinced his counterpart by pointing out the hypocrisy in his "survival of the fittest" creed when he took in Bugaboo, and that he couldn't have survived without Bugaboo sacrificing himself to save him. Unlike with Zelenin, (Old) Chaos Jimenez was successfully convinced and has started to regard his New counterpart's path of freedom over the path of strength as something to his liking. (Old) Chaos Hitonari was similarly convinced by New Chaos Hitonari through the old fashioned way.

Argalia: "The performance that will soon echo through the City will be my journey to seek the meaning to live... and be the proof of my life. All of us will be freed from loneliness. It’s a farewell to this gloomy and solitary City."

  • In the wake of the White Nights and Dark Days and the fall of L Corp came the Distortion Phenomenon, an event in which people transformed into monstrous beings known as Distortions. Among the most destructive to date was The Pianist, an Urban Nightmare who manifested in the Backstreets of District 9 and killed off 80% of its populace in one fell swoop. Though it was slain, that Distortion still left an ugly mark that would haunt the City to come. Entering the picture sometime during the Library's rise to infamy is the Reverberation Ensemble, a Syndicate of Distortions led by a Color Fixer Argalia, the Blue Reverberation. Through him and his influence, he and his gang of miscreants would wreak havoc upon the City's southside for the purpose of one goal: Delivering the City an encore of the Pianist's music. To that end, they helped feed the Library full of Guests so that they may reap the ripe Light fostered within and spread it once more, turning everyone into Distortions. Despite their efforts, they ultimately fell to the Library and, after their reconstitution, were shortly put to rest. After one final encore, their performance was silenced for good.
  • Thanks to the efforts of the Chaos Insurgency, the Ensemble quietly made their return in the Pantheon and began their work of building their strength. Eileen, Oswald, and Jae-heon began bolstering their forces by targeting smaller settlements throughout the various Houses to abduct while Argalia and Pluto helped gather comrades to help them with their plans while the others either helped them, scouted the Pantheon further, or stood on stand-by and guard their encampment. While incidents from the former mounted, their detachment from affecting the Houses and the Pantheon's overall affairs made it difficult to gather support, and the Ensemble along with their allies was quite meticulous in covering their trails. Such incidents even extended to New London and Eylstadt which was bold but did little to halt them. Anyone who tried to pursue the truth anyways either abruptly called off their investigations or disappeared themselves. After some time, the Ensemble made to make their move.
    • They had their newfound allies sic Heartless and reprogrammed Vahki to swarm the House of Power and Abilities. While the inhabitants were busy fending them off, the Ensemble used the confusion to capture many Wisps within the Hall of Internal Power Sources. Days later, different attacks consisting of the same forces occurred on other Houses and while again they were defeated, yet again it turned out to be a diversion. This time, the true target was the harvested Enkephalin from the holding cells of Lobotomy Corporation's ascended Abnormalities. The use of Heartless and Vahki has led deities to ponder if it was the joint effort of Xehanort's Incarnations and Makuta Teridax for a scheme of some kind or some other villain allied with them. And there was also the mystery of the missing Wisps, but the Pantheon would get their answer very soon.
      • Their target was a metropolis with no connections to the ascended populace but nonetheless was a frequented locale due to being situated in one frequent path that connected to the House of Musicality. The Ensemble's members and their respective forces sprang into action, quickly overwhelming the local authorities and cutting off the city's connections to the other Houses. At the center of the city, they unveiled a modified Improbability Drive with the kidnapped Wisps alongside it. Upon activation, the modified Improbability Drive began to not just distort reality itself but converted the Wisps' Hyper-go-on energy into negative energy which, working in tandem with the Enkephalin, was shot off into the sky to project a score with similar properties to that of the Pianist's music: Music notes manifested themselves and began slicing apart buildings and crush the people around it, converting them into the song and machine itself. Others were driven mad. Most importantly, though, it caused a select few of the populace to undergo the Distortion Phenomenon. The gods from nearby Houses were drawn to put an end to the Improbability Drive and retrieve the now transformed Nega-Wisps, and while they succeeded on that front before its ruin could begin to swallow the House of Musicality and stop the Distortions wreaking havoc there, they were unable to prevent mass destruction in the area or apprehend the Reverb Ensemble. Their beautiful performance had perforated the people's very beings, bringing the city to its demise.
  • Seeing as they were an organization that directly sought after the Light the Library had helped gather, the Sephirot/Patron Librarians weren't glad to see them again. Ayin (and by extension Lobotomy Corporation as a whole) held similar sentiments due to being the result of the White Nights and Dark Days and wanting to steal the Light gathered by the Library for their own awful ends. Even the Sweepers, infamous cannibals unleashed by the Head, did not like them seeing as their families were caught in the crossfire of the Ensemble's rise to power within the City (mainly by the likes of Tanya and Jae-heon).
  • Because of the Chaos Insurgency's involvement in their ascension, the Reverb Ensemble quickly became enemies with the SCP Foundation and Global Occult Coalition after being alerted by the Librarians and L Corp. The Phantom Thieves of Heart and S.E.E.S., while having their own conflicting feelings regarding L Corp messing with the collective unconsciousness, recognize the Ensemble as the much more dire threat. The House of Musicality's opinions on the Ensemble is, of course, very negative for their destructive stunt. The Symphogear users in particular are quite cross with them seeking to replicate the influences of the Pianist's song on the City's populace. Argalia claims it was to end their free them from their physical obsessions, allowing them to live free and shatter the loneliness that permeates but they aren't having any of that. While the Ensemble works within the shadows, that's still an awful load of enemies and though they have the backing of the Chaos Insurgency and the Auditor, who was gracious enough to lend them reprogrammed Vahki courtesy of the engineers in the AAHW, Argalia felt it wouldn't hurt to have more friends in the Pantheon.
    • Using his charisma, Argalia was first able to recruit the likes of Sektor and Destroyman to bolster their forces. While the latter is a more professional relationship regarding the use of Mass-Produced Destroymen, Argalia was able to appeal to Sektor's wish for forming a cybernetic clan as well as helping eliminate Sub-Zero and Cyrax. His words also reached out to Queen Sectonia, the Mechon known as Metal Face, some of the Mantis, and Selvaria Bles. For Sectonia, he appealed to her vanity and reasoned that the song they wish to unleash would propel her beauty no one could ever dare hope to reach. For Metal Face and the Mantis, he simply gave them an opportunity to enact their brutality whenever they ask knowing their disregard for human lives (and vendetta against them for the latter). And for Selvaria Bles, the Conductor was able to relate to the pain of being a lab rat, something he knows all too well. While Argalia is responsible for many for fostering relationships, several of his troupe also got the idea to utilize the Heartless for their own deeds prior to their ascension. As Distortions, beings who were overtaken by their desires and became entities similar to Abnormalities, they turned out to be very natural at commanding them. The Keyblade Wielders and their assorted allies weren't happy to hear yet another group of villains were able to get a hold of them. There's a certain irony in people who were affected by L Corp's Seed of Light project now leading those who were born from sentient beings' innermost darkness.
  • Though they prefer to work in the background, the members are still quite dangerous and at higher emotional levels they are able to transform into the Distorted forms that they took on during their final battle with the Library making them much stronger than before. In short, each member has to be beaten twice (or in Tanya's case, thrice). Consider it a glimpse as to their ultimate end goal for everyone else to become should they have their way. This, combined with the havoc they wrecked prior to ascending, has not endeared them to many The likes of Zonda, Father, Lady Dante, and their followers have observed their movements with caution seeing as they may potentially interfere with their own aims. In the case of those wanting to impose order at all costs, such as the Five Elders, the Patriots, and the Sybil System, they are especially watchful of the Ensemble. They in particular are utterly flabbergasted that the Head, the ruling body of the City, doesn't bother even lifting a finger against them even as their crimes escalate.
  • Argalia only:
    • Thaumiel, Conductor, and Orchestrator. Color Fixers, top-notch mercenaries even among Grade 1 Fixers, are perhaps one of the cushiest positions a person can find themselves in. Making it to the top isn't easy, and Argalia wasn't dealt a fair hand by the world. Once, he and his sister Angelica were the lab rats for a Wing and after they were done with the two the siblings were tossed aside into the Outskirts. The two shared a close bond, something they'd maintain as the two of them became among the very best, though this would soon be shaken by two events. Firstly, Angelica eventually fell in love with another Fixer, Roland, and would later try to settle down with him. Secondly, Angelica would become among the Pianist's many casualties.
      • Greeted with the beheaded body of the infamous musician and Angelica's mangled corpse it's a wonder he didn't break down and end his life then and there. What saved him was a voice, as warm and welcoming as sunshine, who would make him do her bidding for the end goal of creating a new world, one free from obsessions, to better embrace one's emotions, and shake off the fear of death. To that end, he would be instructed to form and orchestrate what would become the Reverberation Ensemble to voice to the world his enlightenment. As opposed to most Distortions, the Voice converses with him frequently and has been guiding his actions throughout it all. Even in the Pantheon.
    • The Blue Reverberation's main strength comes not from his combat prowess as a Fixer but his ability to form connections with others. By all accounts, his ensemble should not get along due to their differing personalities and worldviews (and in some cases, personal histories with one another). Yet they all attained a mutual understanding in wanting to ensure the world Argalia wants comes to pass so they may find happiness and remain companions until the bitter end. This continues to be a great advantage for Argalia's operations in the Pantheon through smoothing over connections with other groups for the Ensemble.
    • In this regard he's hardly the only people-person type of villain around the place. DIO, Griffith, and Atriox have all displayed similar levels of charisma despite their own levels of brutality and depravity. Due to conflicting goals, they stand more as rivals to him and his forces rather than allies.
      • On the opposite end of the morality spectrum is the Master of Chaldea. Like him, the Master possesses a certain air that allows them to form working relationships with Servants who are either good, evil, or neutral. Argalia acknowledges this commonality and while he believes there's no place for two conductors with such different visions on the stage, he nonetheless acknowledges their talents for rallying many "friends" by their side and bringing about the "melodies" within them. They too acknowledge the similarities and they along with Mash stand ready to oppose him.
    • While the Chaos Insurgency was the one to push for the Ensemble's ascension, Argalia owes it to Saya for being among the first deities to help him get his bearings and further his plans. Saya's goal of merging all the worlds together fits with Argalia's as it allows him to spread his enlightenment across all the known universes, freeing themselves from their physical forms and ushering in a world void of materialism and loneliness. Hearing that Saya was a benefactor of the Ensemble was enough for Reiji Arisu and Xiaomu to declare him an enemy as they had clashed with the Ouma agent's machinations numerous times. He's also quite thankful for the Necrodancer, the Golden Lute, and Ember McLain for being so understanding of his overall goals as well.
    • While he wasn't of sound mind before, the loss of Angelica, his only family, was what truly sent him over the edge. Argalia's love for her was genuine, and what partly drives his hatred for Roland for failing to protect her, though any sympathy for his loss is thrown out the window in light of having Jae-heon "perfect" Angelica by desecrating her corpse and turning her into a puppet. As such, he's very much vilified in the eyes of the House of Family and Relatives as well as The Heroic Protectors of Family.
    • "I’m not planning to return my suffering in full. Ah, I won’t deny all of it, though. Perhaps I did think of doing it at first. My only light was taken from me twice... For a brief moment... I felt all kinds of emotions before that piano. Despair, obsession, rage, sorrow... But, it took no time for those feelings to dissipate into nothing. Everything... yes. Everything seemed beautiful afterwards."
  • Pluto only:
    • Iweleth, Pipe Organ. Few people in the City can claim to be truly free as everyone is bound by some form of obligation. In trying to make it in this world and finding a place to belong you don't let it be the death of you. Pluto was once an ordinary Fixer Operator, but his life would change forever when a black-masked Fixer blackmailed him and his Office into smuggling Enkephalin, something that would get them barring Pluto killed. Alone and adrift in the City, he would become a Distortion that would bind people into unfavorable conditions instead and would become among Argalia's first and closest allies. With his loyalty, he would help orchestrate a song for the City and its people so that a world devoid of lies may take its place.
    • Effectively Pluto's main ability, Yesterday's Promise, works as a Magically-Binding Contract with its power being based on the complexity of the contracts and the other party's desire for their wish to come true. Of course, once they've signed must see to the end of the deal no matter how unfavorable the terms turned out to be. Such deceptions in obligations earned the attention of the Devil of Inkwell Isle who has forged many contracts across the land and was impressed by Pluto's ability to keep his debtors in check. Asmodeus was similarly intrigued by such fine print and has forged a mutually beneficial alliance with one another, as befitting the malevolent god of contracts. Shiroe, a creator of similar contracts of power himself, abhors Pluto and his methods.
      • A Deal with the Devil is such a prevalent thing. Faust is the most famous for signing such deals and doesn't want anything to do with Pluto. Jeanne, Spawn, and the Puella Magi, have all made similar deals and suffered the consequences. They, too, are rightfully disgusted with Pluto even if he was originally a victim like them and has stood in the way of his plans. Of course, Pluto has begun factoring them into his plans moving forward and are cautious by how seemingly versatile his magic is.
    • It's no secret that both E.G.O. and Distortion are quite odd abilities, though Pluto's is something of a more gratuitous case. His powers are like magic and others (who are used to a world filled with reality-altering and physics-breaking Singularities) have even gone on to label it as such. And yet, E.G.O. and Distortions come from the Seed of Light which was created from L Corp's Singularity. What his world calls "magic" is more commonplace in the Ruins, far beyond the City's confines. While he has the House of Magic and Sorcery utterly stumped, the ascended mage killers have kept an eye on him and Pluto in turn is not willing to overlook their possible threat. He's also quite cautious of Medea and her Noble Phantasm, Rule Breaker. Currently, she has no reason to go after Pluto but Medea's connection to the Master of Chaldea, who is enemies with Argalia, means that running into such a troublesome ability is an inevitability and has made the necessary preparations.
    • Pluto's Distorted mindset is what can only be described as an extreme form of solipsism. Even now, he has doubts he's even alive and walking around in the Pantheon. After all, do you mean to tell him he has cheated death twice and is now walking along with so-called gods? Ridiculous. Everyone and everything could be a misdirection from one's own perceptions. One of the few people to share in his solipsism is Claire Stanfield, but he takes it in stride. Pluto finds him peculiar for that reason.
    • "I tend not to place faith in what I cannot see. In fact, I cannot be entirely certain of if I am here in reality or in a dream, or if I am actually looking at you or not. I even question the fact that I am here, standing on my own two feet. After all, it may be a mere product of an illusion. Humans can fool their own senses; how can I believe in what does not exist, let alone worship it?"
  • Elena only:
    • Sheriruth, First Violin. Contrary to popular belief the existence of Bloodfiends did not originate from the Distortion Phenomenon. They predate such occurrences long before L Corp's fall as they lurked the dark from the moment their bloodlines had a taste of a certain manse's ichor. These Bloodfiends have rules and value their subtly and secrecy, though not everyone abides by such creeds. Despite being a "natural" Bloodfiend, Elena had a particular bloodlust that incited her to kidnap people to drain them of their blood. Blood-red Night, as she would be called, would later have a bounty on her head thanks to attacking the Nests and jeopardizing her kind's safety, and after evading various Fixers for so long she'd be finally put down... for a time. It appeared her would-be killers weren't thorough enough as a crimson night would fall once more in the City, playing to the tune of the Ensemble.
    • Bloodsuckers of various types are hardly anything unusual or new in the Pantheon. The Crimson Court as well as Marlowe Roderich have welcomed her presence in the Pantheon. Elena sticks by them but only thanks to mutual interests and situations regarding one's thirst and is overall disinterested in the politics between vampires (such as the case with the Vampire Counts). Her cold, dismissive nature also makes it hard for anyone to properly get to know her. On their end, they at the very least don't mind Elena as they're satisfied enough by her murderous thirst for blood and other vamps tolerate her so long as she stays in her lane.
      • Vampires who are otherwise not evil, such as the two different Alucards and Blade, are obviously not very welcoming of her. For all of her excuses regarding the Bloodfiends' persecution, she's just a serial killer with a thirst for blood. And while her crimes are nothing new in the City, murder is still murder. And between the fact she's in league with many people like her alongside her involvement with Love Town, no sympathy is spared for Blood-red Night.
    • On the other side of the coin are vampire hunters. There is, of course, the Alucard of the Hellsing Organization, but there's also Buffy Summers, Vampire Hunter D, and the Belmont Clan to contend with. Those hunters sure as hell aren't going to repeat the same mistake as the Charles Office Fixers. So far though, while she has continued to evade them, they have disturbed her feeding frenzies. At one point they tried to corner her but she was bailed out by nightmarish creations of her and Jae-heon's design and had to focus their efforts on it lest they unleash hell on the rest of the Hall. Thus, Elena lived to feed another night.
    • "Feelings? I just kill and be done with it. I’ve got to do something to slake this searing desire that gradually grows stronger."
  • Jae-heon only:
    • Adyeschach, Second Violin. Few things are as terrible as losing someone close to you, be it friends or family. For Jae-heon, it would be his son, who was crushed beneath a road roller while he was away working. After haphazardly fixing his late child's stuffed doll, the Backstreets technician got the idea of doing the same with his son. To do this, Jae-heon began taking parts from already dead children to reassemble his own. It was awful, and the result would hardly resemble him, but father and son would still meet once more. Still, if their parents found Jae-heon one day, he was ready to accept their judgment. He would receive such punishment, but not by them but a Fixer in a black mask. After trashing his lab for answers Jae-heon did not possess, the Fixer burned it to the ground. Something in him broke that day, and the only thing that remained was a desire for revenge. Distorting, Jae-heon soon found himself in the company of Argalia and his Ensemble who offered him to tug the strings his way. To get back at that man (Roland, was it?), and bring for a world where people can pursue their own dreams and freedoms, how could he refuse to perform with them?
    • As his Distortion title and history indicate, Jae-heon's specialty revolves around People Puppets. His in particular are beyond gruesome (and unfortunately for his victims, still conscious), something he doesn't intend on denying, but such things are not his concern. No, things like ugliness and beauty are irrelevant to him. He's not the only one who's to delve into such crafts. Puppetry, in general, is Alice Margatroid's thing and when it comes to People Puppets in particular, few are as well known such craft as Sasori. Initially, Jae-heon paid no heed to them until Sasori himself sought him out while working on newer puppets for himself. He was quite cautious and a bit frustrated by Sasori suddenly appearing but the former Akatsuki managed to smooth things over into a civilized conversation. While it would be a stretch to call the two friends, they are at least acquainted and Sasori comes to talk with him ever now and then.
    • It cannot be said enough that Jae-heon despises the rich and wealthy for being able to easily worm their way through life and live comfortably while everyone else has to suffer. Such a motive was what drove him to turn a Warp Train's First Class passengers into puppets even as he himself admits some unlucky schmucks would get caught in the crossfire. He harbors disdain for the entirety of the House of Commerce, but if there's anyone who embodies everything he hates about the rich it would be both the prideful Servant, Gilgamesh, and the infamous alchemist, Relius Clover. One could even say his enmity for them falls just short to Roland's. Few would fault him Jae-heon for feeling that way towards to the two of them but others are also quick to point out he's far from a saint himself, his actions surrounding Love Town and the First Class WARP Train passengers coming to mind.
    • "People who want to live for others can't take a step forward themselves. There's a limitless range of dreams individuals want to bring out. And you must know that the possibility of pursuing your own freedom while you consider everyone else is nothing short of a myth."
  • Tanya only:
    • Akzeriyyuth, Viola. To make ends meet in the City, one must be a person who has "something". Could be wealth, talent, connections, power, anything that's notable, and tough luck if you're a have-not. Tanya has strength and, once upon a time, brotherhood as well. She was an executive member of The Middle, one of the Five Fingers of the Backstreets and among the biggest of the Syndicates. One day, the Middle's Southern Branch became one the targets of a Fixer who looks to be the Black Silence and despite their efforts, they became among their many victims. Tanya survived his onslaught, and the experience of such might and ferocity Distorted her into a wolf as befitting the dog-eat-dog world she lives in. As a former Syndicate member she'd like a lot of things, a wad of cash, and a home in the Nest come to mind, but she first wants to make music. All for a world where strength only matters.
    • Being a former Middle exec she was drawn to the House of Crime and Transgressions. For the most part, though, she's disappointed by many of them. Most of the organizations there she feels are made up of weak-ass chumps after one visit and clobbering various lesser gangs into serving the Ensemble and single-handedly raiding some of the bigger organizations for her own ends. Her actions have not gone well with many of the members as a result, Vito and Michael Corleone chief among them as they harbor contempt for savages such as herself, but Tanya is apathetic to such sentiments. If they want her to stop, they gotta send out someone strong to beat her, and so far no one has done that. At best, they try to take back what she stole.
    • Tanya's worldview is thus: Survival of the fittest. Because of this, she gets along well with Esdeath who likewise shares her thinking. While Tanya's happy to have someone who gets how the world works (as far as she's concerned) the Distortion doesn't take kindly to her being bossed around by Prime Minister Honest as a scrawny weakling like him has no right to do so. Her partnership with Esdeath has tipped off Akame and the rest of Night Raid though of them only her and a couple of the Night Raid members catch her attention. Vergil and Olivier Armstrong also believe in such tenets but don't regard Tanya highly either. Vergil sees her as nothing but a wild beast and Olivier believes her to be just another power-hungry brute with no regard for her underlings, something her brother agrees on. Tanya in turn respects their strength and reputations but otherwise scoffs at such apparent disagreement with her views. Oh well.
    • "Ehey, why see that as stealing, gal? This is just how the world is, and the best ones adapted to it come out on top, simple as that. Adapt or die. If you can't, you either become food or fall behind until you're wiped out. The so-called apex predators are the creatures best fit to survive in this ecosystem, ain't that the truth?"
  • Oswald only:
    • Kaitul, Clarinet. In a place like the City, one has to find happiness somewhere. Once, Oswald was a lonely man who dreamt of creatures of the imagination, but a chance encounter with a "Ms. Sun" and her lovely voice gave rise to the 8 o'Clock Circus with Oswald serving as its Ringmaster. To put it simply, the Circus is an eerie place in the woods where its patch-work members put on a loony festival. He'd have more chance encounters after meeting an unstable Fixer, Philip, and another Distortion, Pluto. Pluto witnessed Oswald break the Fixer into Distorting, and impressed with his talents he offered the clown and his troupe a spot on a grander stage with the rest of their associates, one that the entire City will cheer and jeer to. With a world of laughter and cheer just a ways away, how could Oswald ever say no to that?
    • Unlike in City, circuses and their associated ideas have not died out in the Pantheon. After engaging in the typical clown-to-clown communication rituals, Oswald can be seen in the company of the extraterrestrial Klowns and often perform together. Overall, their relationship with one another is quite positive. Oswald has something similar going on with the Joker and while he can admire talent, the Clown Prince of Crime is quite insistent on the spotlight. That being said, Oswald still respects him and knows to leave Batman to him. The same cannot be said for what's between Oswald and, say, the Violator or Needles Kane. Oswald finds them quite one-note. Those two, meanwhile, are quite annoyed at Oswald's antics.
    • Oswald genuinely desires only a world of happiness but the means and ends are beyond warped for it to be anything resembling a good wish. Pinkie Pie and Wander are the most vocal regarding Oswald's goals. For those two, Oswald saw them as stuck up and decided to agree to disagree that they have their own ideas of making people smile the smile they want to see. And then there's the Magical Girl, Madoka Kaname, who utterly baffles the Distorted ringmaster. Happy-go-lucky he may be, bringing up anything involving expectations is sure to set off this horrific harlequin.
      • Such a thing did indeed happen when Madoka confronted his circus while he was in the middle of "entertaining" magical girls who sought to investigate some disappearances his troupe was responsible for. Oswald confronted Madoka Kaname over being utterly unable to comprehend how she clings onto a "foul-smelling candy" like hope or how she still wants to reconnect with a "meanie tearie friend" like Homura despite basically spitting in the face of all her expectations. Before he could turn them into circus troupers, others whose followers and loved ones underwent the same fate managed to catch up to Oswald and forced him to retreat. While Madoka and the other magical girls recovered from the encounter, at times can't help but hear the faint ambiance of a circus in the distance. Homura Akemi has despised him for such transgressions and while she sought out to make him pay other gods, such as Molag Bal, seem to get in her way if only just to spite her.
    • "Who in the world told you that it’s right to hold expectations? Hahaha! That tingles my mouth almost as much as a celery leaf does! Oh, how hilarious!!! When you don’t hold expectations~ You get to see more eyesores! When you don’t have anger, you get to enjoy zestier and bitterer flavors~ Treat everything like a rolling ball! You cheer for it wherever the sphere decides to go!"
  • Bremen/Woof, Doodle-doo, and Heehaw only:
    • Shakah, Horn, Tuba, and Trombone. In an overall gray City, what does art, subjective as it is, mean to it? The Musicians of Bremen believe to have that answer. Though they were not torn part and/or assimilated by the Pianist, its song continues to echo and resound in their psyches. The original Musicians of Bremen are comprised of Woof, Doodle-doo, Heehaw, and Meow, and they rose to infamy tearing people apart into musical instruments to try and replicate what they heard that fateful day. Life was more colorful, but it could be so much more. Perhaps that thought went into the heads of Woof, Doodle-doo, and Heehaw when the Blue Reverb asked them to join him. The three accepted his offer and fused together into one Distortion known as Bremen while Meow stayed behind to look after the newbies of the band. While those three worked to improve their skills in the dingy Backstreets, Bremen departed for a greater platform so they find brilliant and bedazzling sights.
    • At their core, Bremen are Mad Artists on a path of hedonism. Hedonists aren't exactly rare, Emperor Calus and Morathi come to mind, but for the most part, Bremen isn't interested in interacting with any of them. Their subdued and quiet reactions are quite telling. While such "colors" may be bright and pleasurable to others which, while respectable, are dull and boring as everything else to Bremen. The only ones they feel that "get" them are Gilles de Rais and Ryuunosuke Uryuu. They, through their strange mindset, managed to understand Bremen. It helps that their first impression was their lovely handiwork of people whose organs were fashioned into musical instruments. After a brief pause, Bremen fetched some similar instruments of their own and motioned the two to play alongside them.
    • For whatever reason during Bremen's battle with the Floor of Art they were accompanied by Ms. Mermaid, a Church of Gears Worshipper, and two Puppets — all of whom are the Mooks of their other ensemble members. Perhaps they're performing with a ragtag troupe not unlike when they were still human. While utilizing outside forces isn't too uncommon among the Ensemble since coming to the Pantheon (as they demonstrated with the Heartless, for instance), Bremen appears to do this the most.
    • Let's go on an adventure — a world that changes with every step. The me that changes after each step I take. My eyes dazzled by colorful light, I pursue pleasures that I don't have. Don't scold us because you can't understand our pursuit. You just happen to be one of the many who feel joy from common things. We — on the other hand — don't see any colors in those.
      • "Neigh!!! Arf arf, arf! Cluck, neigh!!! Bwakbwakbwak!!!"
  • Greta only:
    • Chemdah, Percussion. Cannibalism is taboo even in the Backstreets, though that doesn't stop the practice from continuing regardless. District 23, the street of flavor, is where it really runs rampant, and all the cooks admire and aspire to be among The Eight Chefs who pursue the ultimate delicacy, and human meat is the way to go. Cruelty and suffering only add to its flavor as far they're concerned. Greta was among their members but over time she and the rest of them began to have their creative differences. While everyone else got sick of "ordinary cuisine", Greta got the idea to sign onto the Ensemble and by the time she was with them as a Distortion the rest of the chefs cooked and ate themselves to death. The Eight Chef sneered at their idiocy, but moved on without a huff.Hawhawhaw! She plays her part in the Ensemble because a place of pure ingredients is just at the tip of her fingers.
    • Anyone who has no problems eating people benefits greatly from being buddies with the Eighth Chef. Sure, he's a staunch advocate for cannibalism but her chef's hat and tenderizer aren't for show either. Hannibal Lecter can attest to Greta's skill and has applauded her dishes. She and the Hag also bond over preparing to cook their enemies mid-battle and have traded notes on how to cook. Lord Crumb, while an alien, had planned on serving humans in a fast food chain to which Greta took offense to. Not for any moral reasons, but because turning them into fast food is a wasteHawhawhaw!. Oh, and if it wasn't obvious enough, the rest of the House of Food are disgusted by Greta's cannibalism. Greta, meanwhile, bemoans their pickiness. As far as she's concerned, no one cares what actually goes into their food and the taste of it matters above all else.
    • Chefs like her don't always resort to their fellow man as monster meat is just as appetizing though not as readily available. In her world, one has to go as far into the City's Outskirts to provide that kind of menu. The Pantheon, by comparison, has more accessible ingredients of which there's a grander variety of which makes Greta's mouth(s) water. Mind you, she has no intention of dropping human meat from her menu but the sheer potential she sees in many a Pantheon resident makes her culinary senses go nuts.
    • "Why think of ‘em as the same kind as you? You get wind of something savory, an’ ya find and eat it. What more is there to think about? The smell in the air tells me that there’s a fresh ingredient out there. How could a predator ignore the scent of blood in the ocean current!"
  • Eileen only:
    • Aiyatsbus, Harp. Eileen's father was a Backstreets technician and former leader of the Church of Gears, a nihilistic cult, and was responsible for kidnapping people and turning them into gears. He ran afoul of a wrathful, black-masked Fixer and when he didn't prove any help to him the Fixer killed him. Haunted but not deterred, she took up her father's stead as the cult's leader and they enjoyed their success. At one point, the Shi Association tasked Full-Stop Office to eliminate them but before they could accomplish the latter, Argalia stepped in. Recognizing him from her father's stories, Eileen eagerly joined the Blue Reverb's troupe as a Distortion. Eileen's among the Ensemble's members who possess a fanatical faith towards Argalia, and she is all too happy to play her part in their song for the City if it means everyone can accept their purpose as cogwheels.
    • Religion has no place in the City but that doesn't stop people from clinging to beliefs for comfort or purpose. The Church of Gears is one such cult whose nihilistic faith has drawn those in need of such things, and they sincerely wish for people to accept their existence as purposeful gears like them. Depending on the individual, this can be taken literally as they have the technology to turn people into gears. Worry not, however, for Eileen insists that they live their lives in bliss and she extends such an honor to many. Such a thing conflicts with other faiths but she bears no malice to them. Not to the Harga, Shrignold's cult, or even the Dark Brotherhood and the Dark Elves like Morathi. Of course, if ordered to, she'll fight them all the same. She is, however, partial to those following Mekhanism (aka the Church of the Broken God) which has landed her in hot water with the Sarkic Cults.
    • In the end, the Church of Gears follows a very fatalistic and nihilistic belief that everyone is a cogwheel moving towards a greater current. To move a different direction, or to even doubt that such a direction will lead to happiness, is to forfeit salvation itself. For that, Eileen especially cannot understand those who defy such flows itself, even taking pride in it. Since as her Thought Gears have given her clairvoyance, her confusion is warranted.
    • Seeing as she leads a technology-themed faction in a world that's dominated by Mega Corps possessing reality-altering Singularities, Eileen naturally had an interest in the House of Machinery and Technology. Eileen admits that the technology displayed is interesting what with it being a mix through many different universes, but it all comes across as quite disharmonic. And that's not getting into the lack of cogwheels for that matter. Even if they aren't graceful, they can still make pleasing sounds regardless.
    • "Just look at us. Don’t we look so blissful? A gear with purpose is content, for its rotation has meaning. Humans are cogs in the machination that is City. Someone has to make those cogs turn. That way, the City can run correctly."
  • Philip only:
    • Qimranut, Cello. Once, Philip was a promising if nervous young Fixer in Dawn Office, headed by Salvador and assisted by another experienced Fixer, Yuna. From the outside, life seemed good though Philip help feelings for Yuna, who he found she didn't reciprocate. Before heading off to an Urban Plague case, The Library, Salvador noticed Philip's anxiety and requested that they go talk after completing the job, though he would never get the chance to. After repeated losses, retreating, being broken by Oswald, and focusing on a voice as warm as sunshine, Philip Distorted into the Crying Children after. He soon lost 2/3rds of himself to the Library and was corned by the Liu Association but before he could be captured, Argalia and his Ensemble intervened and welcomed him into their Ensemble. Ultimately, he's only along with the ride towards new horizons, his being a world of isolation, but he's only along for the ride in the end. Despite this, he has no regrets about it.
    • One can succinctly describe Philip's story being that of a Cowardly Lion who was unable to overcome his own shortcomings. Perhaps in another life, he could have done so, but Philip had the displeasure of being a denizen of the City, a place where dreams go to die. His delusions have brought to mind Simon Laurent, a similarly delusional individual who has also followed a path to ruin. Beyond that, however, there is admittedly little comparison between them. While Philip has gone through tremendous changes, Simon ultimately stuck to his beliefs even as it spits in the face of facts. Simon doesn't appreciate the comparison and looks down on Philip for losing his humanity. Philip has no idea who he is.
    • Little remains of the person he once and the only thing left by this point is a wax statue with trace bits of emotional embers and bygone memories. The Incubators find the circumstances behind his Distortion to be very similar to how Puella Magi become Witches after being pushed past their own Despair Event Horizon. While busy with their own matters they're quite content with observing him and studying the phenomenon for themselves. Philip, meanwhile, looks at them as he does with everything else: stoic indifference.
    • "Why are people taught that they must earn things? Jobs, assets, friends, family, knowledge, wealth... They tell us that our lives are made successful and content by acquiring them, whatever they may be. Even though nothing in this world lasts forever. What we get is destined to depart from us one day."

  • Source of interest for: Albert Wesker (Specimen 3)
  • On top of a hill lays a mysterious cryptic mansion. Anyone who dares to enter would be welcomed by Spooky, a cutesy ghost girl who wants to give you a good scare while challenging you to travel to a 1000 "dangerous" rooms. While many would just go along with her claims and find the house to be just a fancy looking scary carnival attraction, many were proven mistaken when they came accross the specimens that Spooky and her minions have contained in her mansion. 13 dangerous monsters roam in Spooky's Jumpscare Mansion, one more dangerous than the other and very effective at killing trespassers. So good in fact that each has a special method and screen to accompany it.
  • Their temple is actually connected to Spooky's, as while it is located in a different house the temple is a backdoor gateway to the Jumpscare Mansion. Entering it can lead you to any room, although the encounter with the creatures is always by numerical order (From Specimen 2 to 13). While they are supposed to be contained, they can wander off into another part of the pantheon since Spooky hardly cares about keeping an eye on them. This obviously brought the attention of the SCP Foundation who sought to contain these creatures in a proper containment zone but given that Spooky has "ownership" of them, they can do nothing but capture and send them back to their temple.
    • The Foundation later found out that Spooky made a deal with the Chaos Insurgency, implying that these were responsible for giving the Specimens a temple so Spooky could expand her influence. The CI has been far more effective in understanding the more mysterious creatures in Spooky's Mansion but she still doesn't care about the safety of the CI agents and often times they are victims for the specimens.
  • Given her disdain for Erma, Spooky tried to convince her to try going through her mansion again, this time having all 13 specimens ambush her and see what happened. She came out mostly fine since none of them bothered to attack her since they all assumed she was another specimen or at least related to Specimen 4 (Who is somewhat fond of Erma but has tried to do her thing to Erma with little success). Spooky later scolded most of them for failing to do their job but most of them don't even care what she says.
  • Before their official ascension, given that Spooky was forbidden for using them in the pantheonic version of the mansion, many of them were replaced by other deities that were recruited by Spooky to fill in. It's believed the reason that they were collectively ascended is because Spooky kept causing too many problems for the Court of Gods by attempting to steal some monsters by force.
  • Fun fact: They aren't the only monsters roaming around Spooky's home. There are actually a handful of creatures that have not been properly discovered by the GL Labs staff and thus are known as "The Unknown Specimens". Given this, they weren't allowed to properly ascend but remain as heralds. There is also the existance of Karamari Hospital, which is so deep underground that even Spooky wasn't aware of the creatures there.
    • Not all the unknown specimen were barred from entry as White Face was already a deity and still does their job of chasing after "friends" in Spooky's mansion. It was also thought by the Specimens that Otto Otter was spotted around the House of Food but it turned out to be a member of the Fazbear Gang.
  • The Specimens have a couple deities that they won't attack on sight, mostly because they were told that they can work as another threat even if they are outsiders that could easily get as lost as other visitors. The Gatherers have become "friends" with them for that very reason but most of what they do is just tear apart doors and go around in circles. The Slenderman also frequents the halls but he just doesn't bother talking with anyone and his notes rarely ever spawn to catch any unsuspecting victim.
  • Their most common victims tend to be horror protagonists and usually tormenting them on Spooky's orders. One of the most notable ones that has had a beef with every single monster was Simon Henriksson since he has met several monsters resembling the Specimens. Simon seems to have a special disdain for Specimens 4, 5, 7 and 8 the most and oddly enough he is weirdly sympathetic to Specimen's 9 backstory as a survivor of Unit 731
  • Specimen 1: Carboard Cutouts
    • This is by far the most harmless type of specimen. Unlike the other 12, Specimen 1 comes in different forms and their MO is appearing out of nowhere to Jump Scare you. Their total fatalities is 4 and rarely get someone killed unless you got a heart condition but their actual dangerous nature is that they can lull you into a false sense of security until you get attacked by an actually dangerous Specimen.
    • While most have a cutesy appearance, a couple of [[them can be actually scary (and come with an appropriate scary sound) but once again, they are fairly harmless.
    • Napstablook, a fairly shy ghost, used to fill their position. While they aren't sure if the Specimen 1 are actually alive or even sentient, they nonetheless considers them good friends. Spooky considered firing Napstablook after they proved terrible at killing people but kept them around since it helps to create the false atmosphere of being a funny scarehouse.
    • Believe it or not, they killed Santa Claus once. He is not fond of them and while he firmly opposes all the specimens, the cardboard cutouts are the one he hates the most since he is embarrassed about getting killed by them.
    • They are beloved by Koume Shirasaka since they would fit right in her temple. She tried to take a few of them back to her home but Spooky had to stop her and warned her to not do that again. Koume stills considers them friends but like mentioned before, it seems that she hasn't realized they aren't actually sentient beings.
  • Specimen 2: The Slime Ghost
    • The first actual threat of the mansion but thankfully not the deadliest. Specimen 2 is a slime-like ghost whose preferred method of killing is tearing apart his foes and assimilating their remains into his being (Assimilation is a common killing method between several specimens). He leaves several poodles of his slime to slow down his victims since he isn't fast on his own and while easy to avoid, he has proved to be a very effective killer.
    • Has been compared to SCP-106 but thankfully he is much less vile than the Old Man and his slime is nowhere near as corrosive or harmful as SCP-106's secretions. In a twisted turn of events, the Old Man is fond of the mindless creature since their similar appearance can often make unsuspecting deities that visit Spooky's Mansion think they are being chased by Specimen 2 only to be met with SCP-106, this being the very reason the Old Man started visiting the mansion more often (And why the SCP Foundation is a lot more involved in monitoring Spooky's creatures).
    • While not made of ink, a good indicator of his presence is a note written in blood. Being a slime monster, many think he is related to Bendy in some way but that has been debunked by Bendy himself, that said, Ink Bendy has been seen visiting Specimen 2 a couple times.
    • Finn and Jake were horrified after encountering Specimen 2, thinking he was related to the Lub-Glubs and instantly tried to strike him down. While they were unsuccesful in that and later tried to lure him into light which also didn't do him anything, they decide to bail and think of a way to destroy it later.
  • Specimen 3: Subject 5
    • Subject 5 is a arachnid like centipide with very infectious bites and while it is barely out of the oven, it nonetheless proved to be effective after slaughtering most of the GL Lab staff that created it. As mentioned, it was created by Spooky's team in order to have more specimens around and it's side of its temple is usually covered in holes where it can pop up and chase its prey.
    • Given it's origin, it instantly garnered the attention of Albert Wesker, who thought it was similar to the T-Virus infected spiders and thought he could make a deal with Spooky to actually aquire it. Spooky initially didn't agree with Wesker's proposal but later remembered GL Labs actually had more than one of the Centipede monsters and so she did consider at least giving him one in exchange for other monsters from Wesker's universe. However, Chris Redfield and the rest of his friends caught up with Wesker's intentions and sought to stop him and Spooky by any means.
    • Sometimes it's allowed to go to the house of Arthropods since it's been shown that it's pretty harmless to other insectoids and arachnids but whenever Subject 5 is present there, it's adviced to humanoids to not enter the house under any means (And then again, it was already dangerous to begin with). Specimen 3 seems to be most friendly with Scolipede and Mikami since their centipede-like appearance makes it believe they are similar creatures.
    • There are actually more than one Specimen 3. Usually whenever it catches a victim, it will bring it back to the lab it was found and then other two will appear and proceed to feast on their target. Investigations by the SCP Foundation only were able to find just one and Spooky isn't willing to mention where the others hide.
  • Specimen 4: Ringu the Ghost Girl
    • Specimen 4 is a 14th Century ghost that haunted a school which was moved to the mansion after being discovered, her exact background and motivations are unknown, but it's hinted that she is a grieving mother that misses her son and could not move on because of that.
    • Nicknamed Ringu by the staff, her preferred method is to eat her victims, biting them with her sharp teeth before consuming them in one go. This is understandably terrifying for some but apparently she does this to keep what she perceives as lost children safe in her stomach. Nobody knows how effective that is considering her records indicate she killed quite a lot of people doing this but nobody sure is she is just misguided or lying to herself about her true nature.
    • Naturally friends with fellow Stringy-Haired Ghost Girl Sadako Yamamura although the two are on fairly shaky terms given how different they operate but nevertheless they are friends. Alma Wade also has a soft spot for Specimen 4 given that she can understand her situation as a grieving mother but things can get a bit out of hand if Alma's son is involved since Ringu has tried to eat him once and that ended badly for her. Even after that small incident, they remain in cordial terms.
    • Not all ghosts of her type get along with her however, as demonstrated by Erma before (Ringu doesn't really hate her but Erma is annoyed at the repeated attempts at eating her). Hisako is also another Stringy-Haired Ghost Girl that doesn't like Specimen 4 given that she is a more heroic deity. And there is Kayako Saeki, who is an odd one given that she is easily one of the most unstable ghosts and thinks Specimen 4 is as bothersome as Sadako. Although they aren't outright enemies, the reason Kayako isn't that fond of Ringu is because of her tendency to eat children and feeling she might try to do the same with Toshio.
    • Sometimes she can transform in other two forms depending on her mood. One is just her looking more unhinged and becoming slightly faster and when she is really pissed off, she grows extra arms and teetch, becomes faster and can distort your field of view. This forms rarely pop up given that there is a growing effort to keep her contained in her room.
    • Given that she used to haunt a school, she is strictly forbidden to enter the House of School and Childhood and Adolescence but said bans barely concern her if she goes after hours. Certain schools are said to be haunted by her and whoever finds her is eaten on the spot and because those are usually children, she has earned the ire of many even if she has sympathetic reasons for it.
  • Specimen 5: "Mother"
    • Specimen 5 is easily one of the more cryptic ones. It resembles a humanoid mannequin with no facial features and wields a giant cleaver in one of its tubby hands. GL Labs was unable to figure out how it even kills its victims but most people that encountered it know that it uses view distortion techniques to disorient them before finishing them off with the cleaver and doing something to them. The area it's found seems to be a rundown factory mixed with cult-like rooms where sacrifices were made and Specimen 5 lies waiting there for its unsuspecting victims.
    • Believed to be the "Mother" the notes found in its area allude to and if that statement is true, then this abomination could be of human origin. The House of Religion and Faith looks down on it's satanistic methods and outside of the House of Sinners, Specimen 5 it's not welcome there.
    • Looks and behaves a lot like a creature found in Silent Hill, it even a bit chummy with Pyramid Head who also hails from there. Naturally people that come or have visited that town are oppossed to Specimen 5 given the horrors they have witnessed and a thing like this roaming in Spooky's house just plain terrifies them.
    • Han Solo also has a special disdain for Specimen 5, apparently because his carbonite self, or at least a copy of him, can be found in one of the rooms that holds Specimen 5. Spooky hasn't commented on why that statue is there.
  • Specimen 6: The Merchant
    • Specimen 6 can be described as a human-sized puppet with a sinister expression. While he remains still during visual contact, the puppet will attack his victim once they stop looking at him and once caught, they would turn them into puppets. It's believed that he used to be a Puppet Merchant with a succesful business until the villager tossed all his puppets to the river and he drowned trying to recover them. But he returned as the monstrous puppet, taking revenge by turning all the village's children into puppets.
    • The Merchant tends to be far more tricky to escape from given how he functions and worth mentioning, if you remain looking at him for far too long, he will teleport behind you. Luckily, he can be striked down by any weapon but that only makes him angrier.
    • His origins and appearance are certainly inspired by BEN's story and naturally both BEN and Specimen 6 are good friends, usually working together for their nefarious purposes. Link from his part has noted that the Merchant resembles the Happy Mask Salesman and is utterly terrified of the puppet, not to mention that Majora is interested in "befriending" the Merchant.
    • Being a Living Doll Collector, it strives to increase his collection by targetting deities that have poor eyesight. It's also another specimen that Would Hurt a Child as they tend to make the easiest puppets to make matters worse, he seems to always go for the eye first. The Merchant assumed that he and the Marionette would be good friends but considering its history of being a murdered child, the Marionette instantly lashed out at Specimen 6 but unfortunately couldn't do much damage to it.
    • Gets along with the Other Mother even if they have different methods. She thinks him and his puppets would look better with buttons in their eyes but the Merchant doesn't share that sentiment.
    • It's friendly towards SCP-173 as the two work similarly with visual contact. Neither can really harm the other and although Specimen 6 is able to move once someone has viewed him for far too long, he discovered that attacking SCP-173 is pointless and also the Sculpture already looks fine on its own. This partnership only made the SCP Foundation start to crack down on SCPs and Specimen interactions since it could prove very harmful for the pantheon denizens.
  • Specimen 7: The Wall of Flesh
    • This one is not known if it's even real as the room that it's found is called "The Treshold of Conciousness" and after it's first appearance it will not chase you anymore. It resembles a moving red wall of flesh that kills anyone on contact and it's rather strange appearance makes some believe it could be a product of nightmares.
    • Before encountering it, people are welcomed by the appearance of a strange purple cats that will give hints as to how overcome Specimen 7. Some believe both the cat and the wall are actually the same being and the conflicting nature of both seems to be deliberate on the monster.
    • Resembles Giygas in some form and this connection makes deities think the wall is a fragment of Giygas that hails from the dream world. Given the sheer insanity of the former and the nondescript nature of the latter, nobody has gotten a clear answer as to what their connection might be.
    • The influence of Specimen 7 extends to the Halls of Dreams and Nightmares and Mentalities, indicating that those houses can be entryways into Spooky's Mansion. It seems this might have been the doing of Pitch Black, who seems to have helped Spooky sneak a few doors that lead towards Specimen's 7 lair and he seems to be at least connected to it in some way.
  • Specimen 8: The Deer Lord
    • Eldritch in nature, the Deer Lord is a humanoid being wearing a dark cloak concealing the grisly fate of its victims. It can be found in a wooded area surrounded by murderous deers that feast on human flesh and harming them will only anger Specimen 8.
    • Notably one of the more sapient specimens, being able to talk with anyone although it is far from a friendly entity, preferring to just capture anyone it comes into contact with just to feed their flesh to their children. It's no surprise everyone starts running when they see the Deer Lord coming.
Specimen 8: Why do you run child?
    • Some theorize it's a wendigo, especially after it's been seen hanging around the creature of the same in the House of Otherness. The Wendigo is surprisingly not hostile to the Deer Lord as it were one of its own and Specimen 8 is also not aggressive towards it.
    • It's also suspected that Specimen 8 is the spawn of an Eldritch Abomination, someone akin to Shub-Niggurath or Yog-Sothoth and it's just following the will of its creator. It's also rumored that said progenitor could be Bayagototh.
    • It's deer appearance as well as its dangerous "children" haven't sit well with both Bambi and Xerneas, who think Specimen 8 is an aberration of nature. Bambi is scared because Specimen 8 keeps telling to Bambi to "Join us" while Xerneas is far more concerned with the potential damage it could cause if left unchecked.
  • Specimen 9: The Taker
    • The Taker was a specimen so dangerous that Spooky ordered to be terminated, since it wanted only to TAKE TO THE DEAD TAKE TO THE DEAD TAKE TO THE DEAD. The only consistent behavior GL Labs picked up before its supposed termination is that Specimen 9 would try to trick people into a situation where it would be trapped and killed by the Taker.
    • Contrary to official records, it wasn't terminated but it remained as a constant danger in the mansion. It likes to targets people who remain still for far too long and this behavior has never been explained as to why. There is also a hidden side to the creature, his floating head is not his actual form but just an extension of his abilities, should anyone manage to reach the end of the mansion they would encounter the Taker in it's true form, a floating red humanoid.
    • Has a disdain for Mad Scientists, that is because he is survivor from the Group 731 experiments and was found in Russia shortly after. That explanation for that is such a secret that in order to view it you have to go through a series of unorthodox commands just to even stumbled upon it. The Taker, being one of the few who can totally leave the mansion at will with no reliable containment method, tends to haunt the house of Science for the reasons stated before.
    • It's obsessed with the dead, always wanting to take the dead and nail them back together. No reason as to why but there has been attempts to ban it from the Houses of Undead and Phasmata and Death and Postmortem but it always returns no matter what.
    • Some say his boss fight took some cues from Ganondorf's. The King of Evil was impressed with the creature but Specimen 9 hardly cares for Ganon's opinions.
    • Easily one of the most hostile creatures in Spooky's mansion, given its sheer hatred of most life and obsession with death. The only one that can even barely relate to Specimen 9 is the infamous SCP-682, another dangerous creature that was targetted for termination but all attempts have been unsuccesful. Even if the Taker was human, SCP-682 thinks 9 is less disgusting that most humans.
  • Specimen 10: The Parasite
    • Officially, Specimen 10 was considered a failure since it was another creation of GL Labs that resulted to be docile and was kept as a pet. But after an old GL facility was investigated further, it was revealed that the true Specimen 10 was another far more dangerous creature entirely. This creature is parasitic in nature, resembling a humanoid covered in flesh-like goo and opens up to reveal a giant ribcage of teeth ready to assimilate its victim.
    • It first revealed itself after killing the old Specimen 10 and can transform depending of how far its prey is. If they are near it, it will slowly walk into them and try to gobble up them into their own body and if they run away from Specimen 10, the parasite will transform into a leech that is very fast and can catch up quickly to most human deities.
    • Specimen 10 is the first specimen that can be confirmed to be from alien origin and as a such, it instantly made enemies with several Space Marine deities and others versed in alien creatures. Most notably, Isaac Clarke and Master Chief have had encounters with the beast given it's resemblance to the Necromorphs and the Flood.
    • It's nature is very similar to the Thing. Considering how they behave, "friendship" is a unfit word to describe their connection but both seem to regard the other as non-threatening and have even worked together in certain occassions. Same can be said for the Headcrabs, who after bonding with a human the zombie can resemble a monstrous creature like Specimen 10.
    • Considering that most specimens are evil in nature, there it seems to be a more alien morality coming from Specimen 10, since some have discovered that it thinks assimilating you to its being is doing you a favour but also there have been conflicting reports of the creature about believing others to be "more than animals" making the previous statements contradictory.
  • Specimen 11: The Demon
    • Specimen 11 is a Big Red Devil whose appearance is straight out of a bible, complete with demonic chanting and corruption themes. It was found in an abandoned restaurant franchise and the history of said company is interesting given that someone made a deal with this demon in order to save it from bankrupcy. However, the addiction to the "beef" people consumed from this Fast Food chain drove them insane and made them lackeys to this demonic specimen.
    • Specimen 11 is another specimen that Spooky had actual trouble containing and can roam free to do what it wants. It seems to frequent the House of Demons by choice and is naturally opposed to the House of angels. Besides that, Fast Food chains tend to be its targets for "corruption" which earned him the emnity of the likes of Ronald McDonald and Burgerpants (Ironically the latter thinks that having a boss like Specimen 11 at least would be better than the one he has).
    • Tried to get its "beef" featured in the House of Food but it was immediately shut down after learning of its dangerous properties. The Demon then tried to consume the souls of the leaders of that house but was driven off by experienced folks since killing demons it's pretty commonplace in the pantheon.
    • Good friends with Diablo, the Prime Evil is impressed as to how many people and souls Specimen 11 collected and Diablo used to fill its position before the official ascension. Specimen 11 also visits The Inkwell Isles Devil in order to exchance tips and practices between the Fast Food business and the Gambling business.
    • It's rumored that the "beef" comes from children's flesh, explaining the creepy play tunnel and bloody chains found in its temple.
  • Specimen 12: The Victorian Mansion
    • Were you expecting the scary looking man with a sickle to be the Specimen? Unfortunately, he is just an envoy of a bigger evil, the actual mansion where he can be found. Its history suggest that the mansion was home to some gruesome murders and it gained a mind of its own, choosing a host to carry it's evil desires.
    • The man himself moves at a slow pace but after some time, he learned how to sprint to catch up to quicker victims. He also seemed to be another of the several folks that ventured into Spooky's mansion, trying to vlog his findings until his journey came to a halt at Specimen 12's location.
    • Naturally, the mansion attracts every sort of Serial Killer that you can think of but given it's nature, only the old man is found actually roaming the place. It and the man do let Jack Torrance enter since the place reminds him of the Overlook Hotel and he finds the mansion to be just as swell.
    • Spooky once thought of moving the mansion to the Dominions side of the Pantheon that could only lead to problems and it would still link to her never-ending mansion so any plea to move the mansion was unsuccessful.
    • No, the old man has no relation to the Raincoat Killer. They just look similar.
  • Specimen 13: The Siren
    • The last true specimen found in Spooky's Mansion is number 13. She is an ancient siren who is thought to be a tragic soul that died in the Deluge, the Siren lures it's victim by enthralling them with her singing before drowning them and devouring them afterwards. Before taking a liking to human flesh, she used to feast on whales, devouring them from the inside.
    • Her section is a flooded area, meaning that once she begins her chase she remains invisible to those that aren't adept swimmers. This behavior is similar to the Kaernk, although Specimen 13 is not invisible to the naked eye, and the two aren't hostile to one another, proving to be a fairly deadly duo if encountered together.
    • She can go to the aquatic sections of the pantheon, where people are warned to ignore the beautiful singing unless they want to end up devoured by her. Mermaids and merfolk alike despise Specimen 13 for her evil nature and the only one that likes her are the Dazzlings, a trio of Sirens who took an interest on her shortly after her ascension.
    • While she looks attractive at a glance, her true appearance is far more nightmarish and has led to the death of many. This has also made her had some run-ins with Aquaman who had to fend of Specimen 13 from folks that thought she was a harmless mermaid.
    • Like mentioned before, her favourite dish outside of human flesh are whales. The ones find here are far more of a challenge to actually eat but she's up for the challenge. Vicious whales like Monstro and Moby Dick have given her quite some trouble since they tend to fight her head on and their sheer size prevent her from sneak attacking them like she tends to do with other whales.
  • "Your soul wanders an endless maze."*

  • Cautious Around: Anakin Skywalker
  • Abraham "Abe" Lure, the Mudokon, once thought he had a good job, waxing the floors of RuptureFarms, when the fact was that he was a slave, like the other Mudokons working there. When sales at RuptureFarms started taking a hit, Molluck and the other Glukkons in charge plotted to use their own Mudokon slaves as the source of their next food product. Once Abe found out about this, his loyalty was outta there, and he managed to escape, rescuing many of his fellow Mudokons on the way out. It was later revealed to him that he was meant to free his people from enslavement and save the land that RuptureFarms was exploiting. After much difficulty, Abe managed to do just that, saving all his brethren and destroying RuptureFarms, and would go on to free more of his people from the Magog Cartel, in the name of his people and other species that were left in devastation by the Glukkon's machinations.
  • During their search for the mother of the RuptureFarms Mudokons, Queen Sam, Abe and the Mudokons he had rescued found a jungle that was not on any maps of that area of Oddworld. Abe told everyone to tarry a distance behind him; he'd scout ahead and look for any danger. When he got far enough in, he realized he was being stalked by something. It was a vicious-looking creature that resembled a cross between a bird and a lizard. The beast screeched and chased Abe farther and farther away from the other Mudokons. He ran as fast as he could from the creature, ducking and weaving through the forest until he found himself surrounded by more of this type of creature. Fortunately, a new creature stepped in and had them step down, placating them with some small, already-dead animals. This was Owen Grady — a human — and the beasts he had just ordered to step away from Abe were Velociraptors, or "raptors" for short. Abe thanked Owen for the help and asked him what on Oddworld this place was. Owen revealed to him that he was no longer on Oddworld. Abe — and his people — had arrived in the Pantheon (more specifically, the House of Beasts and Fauna).
    • It didn't take long for Abe to reunite with his people; he explained to them where they were currently. Needless to say, they had no idea what to make of this news. Abe also introduced them to Owen, who proposed that Abe should come with him to the Court of the Gods. Though initially wary, he learned that the purpose of it was simply because they had somehow learned of his people's situation via someone who could "see beyond the fourth wall". (When Abe asked about that, they simply told him it was "complicated".) Said individual told them that Abe had become a leader to his people by betraying their abusive Glukkon masters. In other words, the Pantheon now had a candidate for Mistreatment-Induced Betrayal. Members of the House of Time and Temporality also learned that, though there were timelines in which Abe betrayed and/or let down his own people and suffered the consequences, those timelines had been "cut off", granting Abe access to the trope of No Canon for the Wicked.
  • The version of Abe in the Pantheon is technically the version from the New 'n Tasty and Soulstorm timeline, but upon official ascension, he has been given the memories of the other timeline. In this timeline, his fight against the Magog Cartel played out differently, and later, he befriended a Gabbit named Munch and helped him rescue the last Gabbit eggs from being eaten as Gabbiar. He selected Munch to be one of his heralds, alongside Big Face (from whom Abe first learned of his destiny as a hero to his people), Elum (Abe's trusty steed), the Almighty Raisin (a source of wisdom for his people), Munch's Fuzzle allies, and of course ALL the Mudokons Abe rescued (including Alf and Toby, Abe's closest companions during his latest adventure).
  • Needless to say, Abe and the other Mudokons were upset to learn that their oppressors had been ascended, and the Glukkons were, in turn, unhappy to learn that the escaped Mudokon slaves had made it into the Pantheon before them. Glukkon officials still try to hide the truth of what happened involving the Mudokons and the factories they once worked at, but more aware Glukkon citizens are slowly but surely learning the truth, and the rest of the Pantheon likewise growing wary of the Glukkons' unethical plans. Of course, the rebellion that would let all the Mudokons finally overcome their Glukkon oppressors was going to be long and tough, but Abe knew he would have no choice but to be ready for such an occasion.
  • Nature deities in the Pantheon are held in high regard by Abe and his people, just as nature itself is. Captain Planet and his Planeteers' work to keep the kind of sewage and nuclear waste that factories pump out is much appreciated, and deities that may as well be nature itself — i.e. Gaea, Viridi, and Armadon — are greatly respected by the Mudokon people. As well, the Mudokons can often be seen visiting the Houses of Nature and Beasts and Fauna to enjoy the forests and other pleasant biomes found therein. Likewise, he's working to make a living hell out of the livings of those who actively disregard and taint the environment, especially Mr. Burns or Hexxus. He's similarly disgusted with Buy N' Large for their contributions in turning their Earth into a Polluted Wasteland, and Morris, whose corporation appears to be heading in the same direction, though he's got his hands full with the more active threats to nature. One of which is The Corpus, an entire race of creatures that worships profit — and thus makes war to that end — reminds Abe too much of the Glukkons, and he very much hopes that the latter people don't take any cues from the former. The last thing anyone needs is for the Glukkons to be war-hungry on top of everything else.
    • Dr. Eggman, another oppressive genius known for having roboticized animals and similar folk into malicious machines, hasn't gone under Abe's watch, and as such works with Sonic often to ruin his plans for domination. While his mind control abilities don't work on Eggman's Badniks and machines, Abe's still apt at freeing those who the scientist has captured and infiltrating his bases. And while Eggman actively views Abe in a belittling manner, Eggman does pay attention whenever Abe's out for him, since the Mudokon is one of the last individuals to be alone in a room with for him; letting Abe access his brilliant mind and intellect is something Eggman doesn't want happening anytime soon.
  • The Mudokons are well known for their spiritual powers for those invested well enough into it, Abe especially so. Granting mystical energy, healing, activating devices, or activating bird portals, but what's most appealing to the Pantheon is Abe's ability to possess and control the mind of whatever unlucky guard is pursuing Abe. Once the target is under Abe's control, they'll be forced to move and act upon Abe's whims, which includes dispatching armed security forces or freeing prisoners, many things that would otherwise be beyond Abe's reach. One demonstration of Abe's possession abilities in the Pantheon would eventually upset Darkseid, a tyrant that Abe despises for his brutal and cold nature. While Abe wouldn't stand a chance against the New God himself, it took Abe finding a stray Parademon for Abe to start working his magic. Within the next day, many disruptions within Apokolips' forces as a result of Abe making them hit themselves repeatedly with possessed soldiers and weaponry would force Darkseid's attention toward the source of the disruptions, but Abe barely fled the scene before what would've been an inevitable and painful demise, or worse.
  • Unfortunately for Abe, his escapades with his abilities would attract attention with powerful figures within the Hall of Mind Control, and it wasn't the type of attention he liked. Nigh-instanteous possession with the bonus ability of making the possession target explode into chunky gibs was just that much of a terrifying power, especially if it were to be in the hands of those who would use those abilities for uncontested conquest and tyranny. As a result, Abe stays far away from the Hall of Mind Control, knowing that the risks of doing so would be very, very grave. Thankfully, not many pursuers who seek Abe's chanting-related powers have approached him, knowing how easily Abe could make them end up jumping off a cliff.
    • Many a Mudokon have envied Abe for his talent with such mystic abilities, with some curious on how he even does so well with his chanting that lets him use his abilities to much greater effect. The reason is unusually mundane, being a result of Abe making really good impressions of the buzzsaw noises back when he was a worker at RuptureFarms. Such impressions were used to greatly annoy Dr. Fetus when he was sent to eliminate Abe by Mr. Burns after an Noodle Incident involving possessed farts in Mr. Burns' dinner. The frustration of Abe's buzzsaw impressions while Dr. Fetus was trying to shred him apart with his own sawblades ended up providing an opportunity for Abe to survive his encounter, with Meat Boy helping out as well.
  • Abe definitely does not care for either group of Ur-Quan for their tyrannical ways — in fact, many if not all tyrants remind Abe too much of how the Mudokons suffered from oppression under the thumb of the Glukkons — and that hatred is mutual; both Ur-Quan factions despise mind control, which the Mudokons are very much capable of via their magical chanting. Why, Abe is perfectly capable of making thralls explode into meaty chunks after he's done with them. He doesn't always do it — and when he does, it's almost always to enemies — but when he does, it seems the victims are at least partially aware of what's happening... Such powers have made Abe a highly prioritized target for their ships, with both races dreading his mind control abilities to the point where they will always try to straight up kill him should they even get a hint that Abe is near.
    • One upsetting fact Abe learned about the Ur-Quan was that they were once slaves themselves, of a race of evil creatures called the Dnyarri who fully enslaved many races through mind control. When the Ur-Quan freed themselves, the genetic trauma and suffering they were subjected in order to achieve their freedom in the first place to convinced them that the only way they could live free was to enslave or kill everyone; which one depends on the specific Ur-Quan faction. This has given Abe pause; he deeply hopes that the Mudokons don't end up letting their suffering turn them mad as it has to the Ur-Quan. For such reasons, he's allied with some of the members of the New Alliance of the Free Stars to not only protect his people from the Ur-Quan but to ensure that the Mudokons can recover from their slavery well. It helps much that the Syreen are easily relatable with their agriculture-based civilization and their own psychic abilities to boot.
  • One deity that Abe recognized when he saw him was Yoshi; it would seem that his Elum buddy — now one of Abe's heralds — was one of Yoshi's followers. Now, whenever Abe needs a ride and Elum isn't available, Abe's first choice of steed is Yoshi, among all the potential mountable dinosaurs in the Pantheon. Certainly helps that, as much as Abe enjoys riding on Elum's back, the little dino has more capabilities than the bipedal honey-loving beastie does. He's also aware of other mounts in the Pantheon, but Yoshi's similarities to the Elum has made the former a preferred pick. Given that Mudokons used the likes of the Elum as cavalry in older times, it's easy to see why.
  • A special ability of Abe's, a transformation into the semi-divine Shrykull, which can be identified as a powered fusion of the native but endangered Paramite and Scrab species from his homeworld, was hard earned from having to go through trials that were basically having to travel through the aggressive beasts' homes alive. Despite his lack of overall experience with them and the fact that Sligs were hunting them down as well to make products out of them as usual, he managed to survive it all and in the process, gain access to direct power that would send many guards running if they get a chance. When it comes to keeping ones' toes around such dangerous creatures, he respects those like Steve Irwin who handled animals like crocodiles in such a tough but friendly manner. He can't say the same for Saxton Hale, however, due to the fact that Hale tends to send endangered species to extinction, not for profits like the Glukkons, but just for the sheer thrill of it.
  • One of Abe's most distinguishing features is his stitched mouth, shared with plenty of other Mudokons employed under abusive Glukkon companies, given how much the Glukkons loathe employee feedback. While they're meant to keep Abe from speaking, they've worn themselves out to the point where Abe can easily blabber his mouth out (at least not literally with those stitches, of course). He doesn't have any practical reason to keep them, but for sentimental reasons, he keeps them on, especially since they were put on him by his very own mother, Queen Sam. It's enabled him to get along with Squigly despite her initially creeping the Mudokon out, but on the other hand, working together to deal with the Medici and other mafia goons was just as enjoyable as taking the Sligs out for a mind ride.
  • Having been a slave himself once, Abe can sympathize with other slaves — both former and current — with certain exceptions, such as the aforementioned Ur-Quan... The Engi being frequent victims of slavery by the Mantis means Abe is a sympathizer and ally to the former and an enemy of the latter. It certainly helps that they don't seem to have, say, mined an entire planet's worth of metal for the sake of engineering and building. If a Mudokon is having trouble with some technology, they'll likely ask an Engi for help.
    • The Ood, being biologically required to be pacifists, were often taken advantage of, which resulted in them being a slave race for years, and even in the Pantheon, they still run into this problem from time to time. For this reason, they have Abe's sympathy, as well as his and his people's assurance that if an Ood is being controlled by anyone, the most psychically capable Mudokons — including Abe, of course — will be ready and willing to free them.
      • Abe was shocked to learn that some species even enslave their own kind. He learned this tragic fact from Sethe, a former slave from post-Civil War America, who sympathized with Abe and his people's past, calling slavery a fate worse than death. Having seen the worst of what the Glukkons would do to keep Mudokons like him in line, Abe couldn't disagree with that, even if the fact she had killed one of her own infant children to "save her" from such a fate still disturbs him.
      • Anakin Skywalker was a slave once, but due to his reputation as Darth Vader — a name under which he has committed many atrocities — Abe is cautious around him. He wants to believe Anakin's changed for the better, but he wants to be certain he can trust the man. At the very least, he's glad that their views on slavery mean that they'll be unlikely to get in each other's way often.
      • Chris Yukine is an example of someone who was enslaved at a very young age, sometime after her parents got killed by a bombing; it was after being rescued and returned to Japan when she got abducted for her compatibility with Relics. It was dismaying enough for Abe to learn that, but what horrified him most was the implication that...something more...took place during her time as a slave. The very thought of anyone doing such a thing to a child very understandably caused him to curl into a fetal position later when he returned to his temple.
    Abe: Why...!?
  • Because he and his people were once slaves, he holds slave-owners and slavers alike in great enmity. The Nihilanth, for example, was the one who enslaved the Vorts in the first place, and that's not even getting into The Combine who are an even greater threat, and possibly responsible for the extinction of the Nihilanth's race. And unlike his Glukkon enemies, he's heard plenty of scary things about the Advisors that run things behind the scenes, but that doesn't stop him from using their soldiers against them. Despite hating the Combine even more, he doesn't gets along with the Nihilanth much better; the latter had still enslaved the Vortigaunts for the sake of fending off or avoiding the Combine. While Abe can understand the reason, he's sure the Nihilanth could have found a better solution "with that giant brain o' his".
    • In contrast, he also holds those who liberate slaves in high regard. Abraham Lincoln is one stand-out example, not only because of how well-known he is for it but also the fact that he shares a given name with Abe the Mudokon. The latter can't help but wonder if it's a stunning coincidence, or something more, perhaps. There's also Moses, another individual who also had the role of being the savior of their people thrust upon him. While they can sympathize with each other for the harsh prejudice and oppression their brethren have gone through, and respecting each other's goals, Moses among others have concerns about his mind-controlling abilities and stay wary in case he tries something either dangerous or perhaps uses his powers for less moral purposes, though Abe hopes that such a scenario doesn't have to pop up in the future.

    Born
Born, God of Railroaded Player Characters Taking Blame
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/nihilumbra_born.png
  • Lesser Deity
  • Symbol: Itself
  • Theme Song: Dream
  • Alignment: True Neutral
  • Portfolio: Living Shadow, Dark Is Not Evil, Scarecrow-Shaped, Blamed for Being Railroaded, Can Survive Lava Heat, Nice Job Breaking It, Hero, What the Hell, Hero?, The Anti-Nihilist
  • Domain(s): Void, Colors, Discovery, Change
  • Herald: The Void from whence it came
  • High Priest: the treasure hunter from Infidel
  • Followers: John, the boy from Seedling, the Nameless Hero, Ark
  • Allies: Luke fon Fabre, ROB, Martin Walker, Shikamaru Nara, Midna, Kouichi Kimura
  • Enemies: Manus, Tabuu
  • Admired by: The Grand United Alliance of Destruction (of which Born doesn't reciprocate)
  • Target of Interest of: Xemnas
  • Opposed by: All indiscriminate darkness-haters like Nier
  • Born is a shadow entity, erm, born from the Void. Gaining sentience, he left the void to explore, gaining powers and learning of his own purpose in life. It also had to escape from the Void, which wished to be whole, and thus desired to reclaim Born. After five whole areas of running from the void, inadvertently dooming the areas he's been to during his flight, Born decided to eventually stop running. However, because his experiences have filled him, Born has changed a lot, and so the Void decided to finally leave him be. That said, he still had to remove the Void from the places it consumed during its chase. But he eventually managed to do it.
  • Sometime after that, he was met by an envoy from a place called the Trope Pantheons and invited to stay there. Without the Void hounding his trail anymore, despite not having actually met any other sentient entity before now, Born accepted the offer, and that's how he became a Pantheon deity.
  • While it's implied he can take on any form he likes, but just never had a reason to, Born takes the vague shape of a scarecrow, but around two feet shorter.
  • With his color powers, Born can change the color of certain surfaces/solids (and not midair), changing their properties, though only a limited amount can be placed at a time. They can also be removed by lava, though it's not known if other fluids can do the same.
    • Light Blue works like Frictionless Ice. Born runs faster on it. Heavy objects on it can he moved with comparative ease as well.
    • Green allows for bouncing of projectiles or oneself, but never when one is starting off from it.
    • Brown hampers movement, but also masks noise from underground dwellers and counters any form of suction nearby. It also allows Born to stick to a wall and jump off it if the wall is brown.
    • Red burns and destroys those that stay on it for too long, and serves as Born's only means of attack. He can survive it for a short time, alleviated by constantly jumping off of it, but even that is a temporary measure and Born will need to rest elsewhere lest he burn up, too. It can also enrage fireflies to emitting more light, and agitate mounted guns to firing faster.
    • Yellow generates electricity and can be used to temporarily connect power generators to appliances.
  • Given his fragile body, he has a respawn system in effect. When he dies, he always comes back at the entrance of any sub-House/Dominion he's in.
  • There are those who dislike Born due to the destruction wrought from his flight from the Void, but there are those who give justification to his actions, stating that as a recently-born entity, he had no sense of morality, only a will to live. And ultimately, he set things right after the Void was convinced to leave him alone and righted the wrong he did by somehow getting the Void to bring back the worlds it consumed trying to reclaim Born.
    • This is also why Born opposes those who consciously desire oblivion of all life.
  • Despite being an entity of darkness, Born isn't more fond of the sub-House of Darkness and Shadow than he is of any other sub-House in the House of Nature. he does get along with Kouichi Kimura, Shikamaru Nara, and Midna for being benevolent darkness users.
  • For some reason, Born finds an unexplainable connection with Martin Walker, who's also undergone a journey wrought with disaster that went beyond his control, and took blame for it (as well as the "player controlling them"). He also gets along with Luke fon Fabre for similar reasons, being blamed for the destruction of Akzeriuth even though it was mostly done of ignorance.
  • The Inklings aren't quite sure what would happen if they're playing Turf War with Born in the area. Given his power to place colors, he has the potential to mess up their game depending on what colors they're currently taking on.
  • As a being from the Void, and thus a being of nothingness, Xemnas holds interest in Born, wishing to study him and figure out more about his mysterious nature. Born doesn't like him, and tries to avoid him whenever he can.
  • Born is able to sympathize with ROB, as he regrets using the subspace bombs to engulf the world in Subspace. ROB returns the sentiment, feeling sorry that his very existence is engulfing the world in darkness. Because of this, Born does not get along with Tabuu for deliberately trying to snuff the world in darkness.
  • When Count Bleck heard of Born's tale, he was reminded of the time he tried to end all of existance through the void, only Born was ending things just by existing because the Void wanted to reclaim him. At least the Void from whence Born came from eventually left him be.
  • Chell once crossed paths with Born while he was painting some area green. It reminds her of some Aperture Science goo that she's had to go through before.

    Chrom
Chrom, God of Last-Second Ending Choices (Newly Exalted, Blue, Prince of Ylisse, Chromvoy)
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ssbu_chrom.png
  • Lesser God
  • Symbol: The Mark of Naga
  • Theme Song: Conquest (Ablaze)
  • Alignment: Lawful Good
  • Portfolio: Authoritive Badass, Badass Cape, Badass King, Nice Guy, Mentor to Lissa, Determinator, No Access to Armsthrift, The Hero, The Leader, Memetic Loser, One-Man Army, Warrior Prince, Item Caddy (though don't bring it up in his presence).
  • Domain: Family, Loyalty, Kingship, Sword, Destiny
  • Allies:
  • Odd Friendship: Ragna the Bloodedge, Aikuro Mikisugi, Captain America, Squigly
  • Enemies: Grima, Ragyou Kiryuin, Melkor, Deathwing, Allant, Ostarion, Griffith, Relius Clover, Witch King
  • Rivals: Captain Falcon
  • Opposes: Viridi
  • Conflicting Opinion: Kiritsugu Emiya
  • Worthy Opponent: Ephraim
  • Chrom, with the right pair ups, would be the head patriarch of a Badass Family. To give a good example, if Chrom would to marry Sumia, she would give birth to the Lucina and Cynthia. Then have his sisters, Emmeryn and Lissa, marry Robin and Lon'Qu, respectively. The latter sister would give birth to Owain and the former would give birth to Morgan(f). If you have those four kids marry the children of Chrom's True Companions, who are like family, you have a small Badass Army with future badass babies. Also, as a funny alternative, you can have male Robin marry either Lucina or Cynthia who would birth Morgan and make Chrom a grandpa by default (much to his chagrin).
Chrom (nearly fainting, being held up by Frederick): I'm too young to be a grandfather...
    • He was also not happy to discover that he can now possibly be a great-grandfather. This would occur if his wife was the Dancer, Olivia, who bore Inigo, who went with Owain to Nohr and took the name Laslow and then got married and had Soleil as his daughter, who in turn married a male Corrin and gave birth to Kana.
    • Upon further review, the Court of the Gods decided that Chrom did not meet the criteria of a stern patriarch, so he was given the seat of Last-Second Ending Choices, as his final choice whether to deal the final blow to Grima (him or Robin) was the most impactful choice in his story.
  • Was joyfully welcomed to the Pantheon by both Lucina, Robin and the already ascended Shepherds. Chrom was surprised however to see that there were two Robins in the Pantheon. Though, he didn't worry too much and was just happy to be with his friends.
  • Was not very happy when he found out that some believe he is just a loser after his defeat at the hands of Captain Falcon. It's not help that Viridi talks about how useless he is without Robin. Luckily, there are many who don't believe he is a loser.
  • Chrom found out there were some deities who sounded like him when he speaks Japanese, such as Joseph Joestar and Ragna the Bloodedge. He has since made allies of the two. He was, however, mistaken by Kouta Kazuraba to be Demushu because of his voice, but it was quickly cleared up.
    • He also found out that he sounds like more deities when he speak English like Aikuro Mikisugi, Jotaro Kujo, Kanji Tatsumi, and Kiritsugu Emiya. Chrom was a bit conflicted on what Kiritsugu did in the mortal realm, and he was a bit unnerved that some think he does Aikuro's poses to Robin(f). And then there's Yusuke Kitagawa, who sounds like Chrom regardless of whether they're speaking English or Japanese.
  • Was not to happy to learn that Grima was also in the Pantheon and was still trying to turn Robin as his new vessel. Just like before, he swears he won't let that happen.
  • Lucifer is amused by Chrom's belief that fate can be changed, despite being so loyal to law. Lucifer makes it clear that while fate can change, it can lead to both good and bad change, which is the result of it being a chaotic ideal. Although his worldview is similar to Walhart's, Chrom accepts that the Morningstar is right.
  • He swears that he hasn't met Conan the Barbarian and the latter hasn't said to him "To hell with you!". That would be Crom, not Chrom.
  • He is taking part in another adventure with a appearance different from what many were used to. While the exact reasoning is not clear, rumors have spread that he took up that look because he was still bitter about not having a larger role in the Smash tournament. Apparently he's also bringing in Caeda, the wife of his great ancestor Marth, along. Though they did get along well beforehand.
  • Allied himself with Alexstraza and Ysera as they both remind him of Tiki. This naturally made him enemies with Deathwing. Especially when he heard what he wanted to do with the two female dragons, which sickens him.
    • He also made enemies with both Ragyou Kiryuin and Relius Clover for being very abusive parents towards their children.
  • It's potentially a bad idea to have Chrom use other weapons that aren't the Falchion. He has a habit of breaking them after a few uses, though he is capable of using lances when necessary. Also, don't use him to carry your items. It's degrading.
  • Parasoul, somewhat reminding him of Emmeryn, (in part due to their similar voices,) is a good ally of him, even though she pretty much took the opposite approach his older sister did when faced with taking the crown.
  • Can be seen in the House of Combat training with his daughter, Lucina.
  • You know, it's not just the females who find Chrom attractive.
  • When Arvis paid a visit to Ylisse, Chrom noted how pleasant he was and wondered if the history of Jugdral got him wrong. When Arvis ascended, Chrom was given some history lessons about Jugdral and even had to admit that it was... really screwed up. But he nevertheless recognized Arvis' noble goals and kept their friendship.
  • Captain America sees Chrom as a noble and heroic man, both having served their countries and risking certain death in the process, all while leading a force of other heroes in the process. Cap also took note of Chrom's shield, the Shield of Seals which is also the Fire Emblem itself.
  • Eventually to make up for the beating and Chrom's angsty phase as stated above, Captain Falcon gave him an invitation to the next Smash Bros tournament and a gigantic cake at that. Chrom was overjoyed and decided to present the cake as a present for Lucina (he's a loving father after all). Unfortunately, he tripped and fell flat on the face along with the cake right in front of Lucina, but she's just glad he could make it to the tournament.

  • Alignment: Neutral Evil (if he takes the Serpent Path) or Neutral Good (if he takes the Dragon path)

  • Allies: The Commander (depending on their current allegiance)
  • Enemies: Each other and each other's allies, Heartless-summoners such as Master Xehanort
  • Sometimes, at some point in a game, you're required to make an important choice. This choice can affect a lot of things, from as little as available upgrades for the entire game, or even what storyline you'll take (requiring a replay to see it all). Kenji Oja, former exile from the Serpent Clan after being assumed to have killed his father, upon returning to the lands from where he was born, was faced with an important choice; in the midst of bandits raiding a village, who should he side with?
    • The Kenji who helps the bandits would rebuild the Serpent Clan under a tyrannical fist. The Kenji who helps the villagers would start anew as the benevolent Dragon Clan. Since both paths are irreconcilable with one another to ascend as a single person, two Kenjis were ascended as separate entities instead, and both immediately came to blows, disgusted at the other's choice (and disbelief from Serpent!Kenji after the revelation that the Serpent Orb's power and the Dragon are real after all). They were shortly separated by the Court, who had ascended them in the first place.
  • Applies to both Kenjis:
    • Their temples take the form of Serpentholm, remade in their respective images, and facing in opposite directions so as to minimize immediate clashes, mostly instigated by Serpent!Kenji.
    • And supporting the Kenjis as their Heralds are their Zen Masters, essentially hero units. While both Shinja and Otomo served both Kenjis, their ultimate allegiances brought the former to Serpent!Kenji and the latter to Dragon!Kenji. The latter Kenji was glad, given that Otomo dies in both paths, and now they're reunited.
    • Naturally, given their dispositions, Serpent!Kenji joined the GUAE while Dragon!Kenji joined the GUAG. Both Melkor and Cosmos were pleased with their latest additions to their ranks.
    • The Dragon Clan generally disdain firearms (though still use rockets) while the Serpent Clan appreciate and perfect their use. That said, even Dragon!Kenji is not above using them, and can learn to appreciate allies who use such weapons.
    • If there's one thing the two Kenjis have a common opinion on, it's despisal for creatures born from darkness thanks to their (separate) experiences with the Nightvol.
  • Exclusive to Serpent!Kenji:
    • Having a necromancer among his Zen Masters thanks to Shinja, he has no issues working with those who can raise the dead, such as Kel'Thuzad, to achieve his goals. Of course, that just means he won't oppose them on principle; their attitudes can still determine allegiances, such as him merely being on good terms with Arthas (if only because his Scourge are numerous enough to count as a threat).
    • When working alongside the Commander, even if it's proven really effective, he's annoyed whenever the Commander employs him as a damage sponge for the Ronin's Blood Bond (it transfers half the damage a Ronin takes to those they bond with) and keep Fan Geisha around to keep him healthy. It's a very effective strategy, sure, but that means sitting out of the fight. Now if it was some other Zen Master...
    • He's also come to like having Berkut and Charles zi Britannia on his side, even if only to help further his goals. This also goes for Kazuya Mishima and Bowser Jr., fellow evil sons to evil fathers, though he's bewildered by the... dynamic the latter's father has with the Mushroom Kingdom, given he hangs out with them half the time when he's not invading them.
    • Given his Yakuza look, and his ruthlessness, Kazuma Kiryu and Goro Majima have it out for him.
  • Exclusive to Dragon!Kenji:
    • Corrin gets along with him, having had to make a similar big choice, except it was between families who both love them and are good people to certain degrees (even if one family was under an evil king who might've been all but a puppet by this point), and they also had the chance for a third option. Of course, Corrin also shows contempt for Serpent!Kenji due to his cruelty.
    • His potential after unlocking his Ki holds so much light that he poses a great threat to dark entities with weakness to light has marked him as a threat to such deities or those who employ such creatures like Xehanort and Mr. Scratch.
    • As someone who goes against the intentions of their evil father( figure)s (even if posthumously in Kenji's case, as he wasn't actually responsible for his father's death), in addition to Corrin, Dragon!Kenji has become allies with Rock Howard, Zuko, Jin Kazama, and Alucard.

  • Determined to help: Alma Wade
  • No one is entirely sure how, why, or when they ascended into the Pantheon. The only thing that the other gods can say for certain is that they arrived not too long after Sans and Papyrus did. They were apparently first sighted in the House of Nature, lying in a patch of flowers. After some wandering, frequenting the House of Gaming for some reason, they were eventually granted a title of their own.
  • Sans, Papyrus, Toriel, Undyne, and Asgore were overjoyed when they heard that Frisk had ascended and rushed to their house to reunite with them. They all celebrated with a feast of spaghetti, courtesy of Papyrus. Everyone except Papyrus and Undyne needed to use the bathroom for an incredibly long period of time after they finished eating.
    • Flowey was notably not quite as pleased. In fact, he was rather upset about Frisk's entry into the Pantheon as it meant that his own power was that much more limited. That said, however, he became initially scarce after Frisk's ascension, and has been actively avoiding them all the while. This may be Asriel's doing.
    • Frisk had already been trying to get Asriel back long before their ascension. It was only when they became a god that Flowey decided it was best to stay away.
    • And then Flowey approached Frisk in private, revealing that he does remember his deeds as Asriel and that he's actually on the side of good, but is just acting evil order to keep up his charade and his title. Only Frisk and (Insert Name Here) know about this, and later Sans, Vector, and Monaca Towa.
  • Rumor has it that Frisk, along with their fellow Undertale allies, have gotten involved in the Wrestling industry. As a result, they became friends with John Cena and enemies with The Undertaker.
  • As with Sans and Papyrus, Frisk became rather good friends with Joel very quickly. When they initially met face-to-face, Joel fell on his knees and apologized for putting them through so much trouble, as he had done a No Mercy Playthrough on his own copy of Undertale.
  • Frisk, though they are not the God/dess of it, is considered one of the biggest Determinators amongst the entire Pantheon, and is thus given a lot of respect amongst other heroic Determinators. Their sheer amount of determination has allowed them to manipulate time and space, and even become completely immune to death itself! For such a small kid, they're quite powerful.
  • After discovering the sheer strength of Frisk's SOUL, Hades has taken an interest in acquiring it and using it to create new Underworld monsters. Sans, after hearing this, warned Hades that he's gonna have a bad time if he dares to try and do so.
    • Similarly, the Anti-Spiral has noted The Child's determination and compared it to Spiral Energy. Simon, Kamina, and Yoko all took immediate action upon learning of this and attempted to appeal to him... but the battle between the two had already been concluded, with Frisk impressing Anti-Spiral enough to earn his acceptance.
      • Because of this, numerous villains have been vying for the Child's Determination as a substitute power source (since they can't get Spiral Power after the Anti-Spiral destroyed all but one Core Drill that remains in the Treasury). Standing in the way (aside from the friends Frisk made in the Pantheon) are Papyrus (who can actually be a bit difficult when he sets his mind to it), Asgore and Toriel (and this time, they are not holding back), Undyne (and her Undying form), and finally Sans. In fact, the last of these is likely to thwart them first if they are dangerous enough that he's willing to get up off his ass to do so.
    • Not to be outdone, Monokuma and Junko Enoshima have set their sights on Frisk upon being made aware of their drive. They fully intend to try to break their determination and to ultimately corrupt them to true and utter despair. Sans was not pleased when he found out about their plans. This also is the case for Monaca, of course. Meanwhile, all those who were involved in the Despair Incidents are in full support of them note
  • Frisk is on the best of terms with Naruto, Sora, and Nanoha due to their shared desires to befriend and/or forgive everyone they meet. They have shown interest in forming a group devoted to absolute and unconditional friendship-making as they have done. They are also very smitten with Luffy due to his dying loyalty to his crew.
  • Frisk has been compared to Yusuke Godai/Kuuga due to both being loving of others to a fault. They finally met, whereupon the former flirted with the latter, who simply took it in stride.
  • Frisk and Ness hit it off immediately upon meeting, as the former has been both inspired by and compared to the latter. It helps that The Child's creator is known for having made a ROM hack of Ness's game featuring Dr. Andonuts as an antagonist.
  • Yu Narukami has a close bond with Frisk, having heard of their exploits and all hardship they had to endure to achieve the best possible result for themselves and their friends. He was a key factor in helping The Child ascend, having personally vouching for their potential for Golden Endings.
  • Someone kept claiming that Frisk was Iji's High Priest at one time. Though these allegations can be neither confirmed nor denied, there is a special bond of trust and friendship between the two that can't be denied.
    • Some gods then realize that the two polarizing ends of pacifism: one refuses to kill or hurt period, while the other merely refuses to kill personally. Of course, they have the potential to be each other, though at the absolute worst, the Child may resort to weakening the opposition to convince them to leave.
  • Odysseus was quite amused upon hearing the undertale of Frisk's quest to return home to the surface, so much so that he has sworn an oath to come to their aid should they ever need it. Likewise, The Child is happy to hear of his adventures (and was also quite surprised to find out that he was real, as in their world he was a mythical figure).
  • Jaden has been seen with Frisk on several occasions, the two having duels with cards. It has been observed that The Child's deck, which Jaden helped them build, is fittingly but also still shockingly unbeatable. It truly represents its owner, as it is focused on non-aggression and sending opposed monsters back to the player's hand.
  • Frisk has also befriended other extreme pacifists like them, Meliodas and Kenshin in particular. In fact, they are all equally proud of their pacifism and have been known to have lunch/tea together.
  • With the ascension of Agent Smith, The Child has been teaming up with many deities of the House of Gaming to halt his advance towards the entrance to the Matrix. It doesn't help that Smith is being aided by Flowey himself. Doesn't help Smith that is, as Flowey's actually on Frisk's side and is going behind the agent's back.
  • Gods who have observed multiple timelines have found more than one timeline where Frisk gives up their physical body to return Flowey to his true self of Asriel. Being friends with Sans (who knows of time travel but can't actually see other timelines), they told him to make sure Frisk doesn't learn about those timelines or try to do it of their own accord while the Pantheon's scientists work on a way to get Asriel back that doesn't involve any sacrifices.
    • Besides, unbeknownst to several, Flowey is working with the good guys.
  • One day, Frisk accidentally went down the wrong hole, ending up in Isaac's basement instead, while Isaac went to the Underground in their place. Frisk tried to befriend all the monsters in the basement... to mixed results. Fortunately, Sans found them just in time and freed them. Despite this setback, they plan on going back down and trying again, with some other Undertale deities watching over them. They also gave Isaac a "Friendly Ball" to help befriend monsters.
  • One Timeline had a Frisk so powerful that he destroyed Mt. Ebott and The Barrier in just One Punch. Saitama was very impressed.
  • Has got along rather well with Wander, with the both of them being rather famous for befriending and helping out what other people see as monsters into friends and happy people.
    • Upon hearing of how he was trying to help calm down Alma Wade despite all odds, they joined up with him and try to comfort her about all that happened in her life. They got further than Wander could, especially as it was one of those times where their determination was so powerful it could No-Sell death itself, letting Alma release all her rage at Frisk. The rest of the Undertale deities (even Flowey), are anxious about the whole thing, but they still let the child go alone to try and calm down Alma.
    "But it refused."
    • While she certainly isn't friends with them by any stretch of the imagination, Alma is genuinely curious to see just how far Frisk is willing to go to help her. Ironically, this has given Frisk an INCREDIBLY powerful (albeit indirect) form of protection, as Alma is not amused by the villainous deities' attempts to corrupt Frisk into despair while they are in the process of helping her, and and will not hesitate to make her displeasure known if they are foolish enough to try anything in her presence.
      • Even more surprisingly, they actually succeeded with some help from a newly ascended Expy of Alma; Erma Williams. After the two ghost deities met and seemingly conversed (though how Erma did so is questionable), they seemed to have greatly warmed up to each other. As such, Alma has thanked Frisk for their services on helping her feel happy, and has allowed them and Wander to join with her and Erma whenever they go out, though are warned to not be too loud and to not be too energetic, both of which they agreed to. As such, that indirect form of protection has been moved up to direct whenever they are in mortal/grave danger, something that all of Frisk's enemies are scared shitless about.
  • Due to how little is truly known about Frisk's Child darker side, The Fallen Child, Chara, measures have been done to prevent their ascension from ever occurring. That's because their motives are (potentially) violent, but their threat level is unknown, ranging from wanting to set things right to as threatening as a child with a knife and some dodging skills can ever be to Determined enough to be a threat to even Greater Gods. Given they have the same Determinatorion as Frisk, who's already pretty powerful on their own despite their Demigod rank, no one's willing to take any chances with Chara, except the Grand United Alliance of Destruction, who in turn don't want to waste time on ascending Chara if they turn out to not be as powerful as they hoped they'd be.
    • That said, there are other interpretations of Chara as of late, such as them being Frisk's "narrator", only becoming evil as a result of the Player's Genocide Run actions, and being a scapegoat for them because of it.

  • Enemies: Nurgle, those who advocate death, Facehuggers, Thrax, Typhus, Albert Wesker
  • Oppose: The Medic, Nigel Burke
  • Some games benefit significantly from having a second player cooperating with the first. Finding a (named) candidate was a challenge given how hard it is to truly define the trope of Socialization Bonus, and its previous representatives Escavalier and Accelgor weren't up to snuff. However, with the ascension of Derek Stiles and Angie Thompson opening the way for more representatives from the world of Trauma Center, another pair was found; the pair of surgeons who contended with and put a stop to the Stigma virus, Dr. Markus Vaughn and Dr. Valerie Baylock.
    • Their story began in Alaska at Montgomery Memorial Hospital, right after they treated a tourist who picked a fight with a grizzy bear and ended up with a gash on his chest, at least two broken bones in the right arm, and a lot of lost blood. Nothing they can't handle, by themsleves or together. The Call to Adventure, so to speak, came in the form of nurse Elena Salazar driving over with a patient in need of emergency treatment... as well as get a replacement pump unit implanted in her pancreas, since Markus did her first one seven years ago and it's starting to "expire". And then there is the matter of an artificial disease called Stigma, which Markus apparently had a hand in, and which he and Valerie will end up facing as they transfer to Concordia Medical by Dr. Lloyd Wilkins, who possesses this disease. (Despite being a lot like GUILT, it has no connection with it.) But when someone breaks in to steal the research data on Stigma and abduct Dr. Wilkins, Markus and Valerie then end up being recruited into Caduceus in response by its then-director Irene Quatro to further combat this disease, which is being actively spread by the organization Parnassus, led by Master Vakhushti a.k.a. Ray Kerensky, who had provided Markus with advice on Elena's transplant operation.
    • While Caduceus was looking for clues as to the whereabouts of the party spreading Stigma, Markus and Valerie performed all sorts of operations along the way. Turns out, the reason Markus was at Alaska in the first place was because of the guilt he had over witnessing the advent of Stigma, and being unable to stop Dr. Wilkins from wanting to unleash it to study its treatment. Eventually, the mastermind's hideout was found, and forces were dispatched to it, including Caduceus doctors (counting Val and Mark among them, to tie loose ends) in case of infection. They found the mastermind Master Vakhushti a.k.a. Ray Kerensky (who had managed to put Wilkins under mind control to release the virus), who wanted to spread Stigma in response to his government trying to assassinate him when he went home to treat refugees, and a strain of it was in his body. Once Markus and Valerie destroyed that strain (in case it might spread once he dies), his plot was finally halted for good because it turned out the Stigma was also holding his malignant diencephalic sclerosis at bay; with the Cardia strain gone, he expired. And with the crisis over, they could finally get back to regular surgery.
  • Their ascension to the Pantheon came in the form of Court envoys sent to Caduceus and requesting for the pair, incidentally some time after their invite to Dr. Stiles and Nurse Thompson. After a lengthy talk with the envoys, who were those two, it was decided that Markus and Valerie join their fellow Caduceus colleagues to their new assigned location: the Trope Pantheons. And there they were granted a temple in the House of Gaming.
  • Applies to both:
    • As it is known, both doctors possess the Healing Touch; with Markus already having had his for a while now, and with Valerie (in the process of studying Markus's techniques) awakening to hers during an operation on a construction site victim beneath rubble. While Dr. Vaughn's is essentially like Dr. Stiles's (and its effect also extends to his partner), Dr. Blaylock's HT stabilizes the patient's vitals for a while no matter the damage dealt by bodily complications (whether internal or external) that can set in during an operation, and raising vitals a bit when the HT ends.
    • Naturally, just like with Derek and Angie, Markus and Valerie were first acquainted with the doctors in the House of Health and Diseases, starting with Black Jack himself, given Caduceus has a few shrines dedicated to him. They're amazed at his speed, and that it's all from his body, no mystical Healing Touch necessary. While she's actually a nurse, they revere Florence Nightingale for revolutionizing the profession and making sanitation mandatory.
      • Their first big step towards accepting the strange was the salarian doctor Mordin Solus, who was additionally a proficient fighter to boot, given the criminal environment Shepard first found him operating at. The second was SCP-2295, being able to replace organs and patch up skin with plushie materials and they somehow work like the real thing. Third is Dr. Stephen Strange, who used to be a surgeon before his hands got wrecked in an accident, then he became an Archmage, then became a surgeon again after his hands were fixed. While the (Mann Co. mercenary) Medic's tech and speed of healing is revolutionary, his practices, mercenary career, and (lack of) ethics prove problematic for them to deal with, and neither of them have any patience for him, while Markus also wonders how Derek can even tolerate the man.
      • Fran Madaraki is another they found unsettling due to her skewed anti-death morality, despite her unparalleled surgery skills, and because of the mutations she's made thanks to those skills. But her rules are relatively easy to follow to keep her sort-of under control. That said, when it comes to heart operations, she sometimes offers to "modify" either or both of them, though they always turn her down. And then there's Nigel Burke, a ... disgrace to the profession, so much that Valerie wants his operations shut down, and Markus would help her. The fact that several of Nigel's patients have also been delivered to their (and Derek's) operating table make their opinions on Nigel that much firmer.
    • While most doctors usually have to be ready to do their job when disaster strikes and they're needed, Markus and Valerie are more alert about this than most, having had to do one roadside surgery, two separate operations on dogs, fix a hockey player's arm while they were watching the game he was in, work on injured soldiers while visiting a different country (including one liver transplant), work on a criminal in exchange for information amidst faulty lighting, removing a pump unit doubling as a kill switch on someone's heart, and so on.
    • Outside of the House of Health and Diseases, they were acquainted with Dr. Tenma, his skills as a neurosurgeon, his unending optimism, and his mission to stop Johan Liebert. They were also acquainted with Navy Corpsmen Pacific Assault Squad member James Broderick Sullivan and Flag Raiser John Henry "Doc" Bradley, who have both treated battlefield casualties in the jungles and islands of the Pacific Theater, as well as Tech 4th Grade Irwin Wade of Charlie Company, 2nd Ranger Battalion and Tech 4th Grade Eugene "Doc" Roe of Easy Company, 2nd Battalion, 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, both being experienced medics known for taking care of and attempting to save the lives of badly wounded soldiers even in the most dire of situations. This is because Markus and Valerie are no strangers to medical operations in a warzone, given their time at Culuruma.
      • And then there's SCP-049, who has a desire to "end the plague", but is oblivious to the fact that his actions aren't conducive, including his Touch of Death. 049 treats them with respect (and intrigue with their Healing Touches), but this is not reciprocated by either surgeon.
    • The operations they've had to perform in the Pantheon has led to enemies and allies as well. There was once one operation on a patient who was infected with Thrax, and he proved more challenging to deal with than even the Stigma strain Cardia since he's actually sapient, and conniving to boot. A timely arrival by Osmosis Jones helped turn the tide, though even when facing double the surgeons, Thrax somehow managed to escape entirely, leaving a huge mess for the pair to fix as Ozzy apologized to the pair before continuing his pursuit.
      • Thanks to Derek's own successful operation on a recently "impregnated" Facehugger victim, Markus and Valerie have been added on the on-call list of surgeons who can save these normally lost causes. Needless to say, the Chest Bursters stood less of a chance when their victims are on their operating tables.
    • As was stated in Derek and Angie's profile, reality TV with real operations isn't tolerated by the ascended Caduceus staff. Markus and Valerie (she being the most vocal about this) were subject to participating in one such show called "Wish Come True: Miracle Surgery" when its hospital's director Dr. Leonardo Bello (who also has the Healing Touch) besmirched Caduceus' name, forcing the higher-ups to respond by sending the pair. When they did, they got shown up on live TV during their first two appearances. But when Stigma showed up in one of the patients in the show, and Dr. Bello proved unable to handle it, Mark and Val were on the scene, and not only did they manage to prove the seriousness in Caduceus's work and save the patient, they had the program shut down for good measure.
  • Exclusive to Markus:
    • As a doctor whose research (albeit shared with Dr. Wilkins) was taken for the use of propagating viruses, Markus hold contempt for those who work under Umbrella Corporation, who are doing this voluntarily. This especially applies to the mastermind behind all this as far as he's concerned; Albert Wesker. And while mind control is universally loathed by most people, Markus has more justified opposition to the practice, having had to remove a device that induced it from his mentor's brain.
  • Exclusive to Valerie:
    • True, Valerie's Healing Touch is not as impressive as those of Derek, Markus, and (the unascended) Nozomi, but stabilizing a patient suffering plenty of innard complications at a time is certainly a huge help in the rare event neither of them are co-performing surgery with her.

  • The Strange Men Series consists of four stories about four troubled individuals, each trying to deal with their problems in their everyday lives until all changes when they run into a "Strange Man". David Hoover and his encounter with the mysterious Crooked Man, Sophie Grundler and her insomnia which connected her with the elusive Sandman, Keith Baring and his confrontation with the Boogieman and lastly, Will and his attempts to avoid becoming a Hanged Man. These four all had in common one thing, their stories can end in multiple ways some are sad ends, sometimes even fates worse than death and other times they finally overcome all their obstacles, the latter of which all four manage to achieve which granted the right to godhood.
    • Their ascension caught them by surprise. It started one spring when Will decided to visit his half-brother David Hoover and also spend some time with some friends he made along the way. Keith and Sophie were also there to greet him but once Will arrived all four were suddenly transported to an unfamiliar location. The Court of Gods formally introduced themselves to the puzzled group who thought they were being pranked but it turns out this was no joke, they indeed ended up in the Trope Pantheons.
  • The relationship of these four is a little hard to explain. It all started with David, at the time dealing with a severe depression after moving to a new house but the encounters with the Crooked Man, the spirit of a man who went through a similar ordeal, his life changed for the better...slightly. One day he met Sophie and his willingness to listen to her and his general Nice Guy demeanor made Sophie develop a crush on him but she was heartbroken later when she learned that he already had a girlfriend. Thankfully Sophie managed to overcome her insecurities and stay friends with David, who later invited her and her father Richard to a tour through an old castle where they both met Keith Baring, a police detective on vacation with his wife Helena to sort out their marital problems. That trip would prove to be a disaster after the group was the victim of a Serial Killer claiming to be the Boogieman, but later Keith managed to apprehend the culprit and save everyone, becoming good friends with everyone in the process. That brings up to Will, the young half-brother of David from another mother, Will suffered from visions and visits from strange friends shortly after the death of his father and the encounter with the "Hanged Man", culminating in him visiting David after running away from home but feeling unsure of himself, he sneaked from David's home and wound up in an abandoned shelter in the middle of the woods, where he would lose his friend Pop, try to find him and face his inner demons while at it. Will also came accross both Sophie and Keith, who would become precious friends to him and allow him to overcome his issue.
  • Considering this is a place where All Myths Are True they were curious if any of the supernatural creatures they've encountered were real here. The least surprised of the four was Sophie, who felt vindicated after proving to everyone (especially Keith) that fairies were real. However, there was no sign of any of the monsters that tormented any of our four protagonist, with the only exception being the Bogeyman who in truth wasn't really the same Boogieman Keith encountered in the "World Worst Tour" but the real deal himself. Sophie recognized his chilly voice and got scared and Keith finally met the real Boogieman that has symbolically tormented him all those years ago.
  • They were allowed to have most of their families and close ones as heralds meaning the group that went to Livingstone Castle was reunited with the addition of Will and his mom. Will got especially happy that the Court of Gods even allowed him a special someone to visit Will, none other than Pop the world travelling super rat. Will was overjoyed to see Pop again and the latter congratulated him for becoming a real good man.
  • Considering their struggles each one of them had to go through, they relate a lot to those that had to go through similar supernatural ordeals (or at least what they think they saw). First one on the list was James Sunderland, haunted by the death of his wife and being drawn to the city of Silent Hill after she wrote him a letter to come there. Both David and Keith have a lot in common in him but neither have a strong opinion of him after learning that he killed his wife and he couldn't accept the truth. David especially sees him as a dark reflection of him similar to how the Crooked Man was and Keith being a law enforcement official wants to bring James to justice, even if he could have ended up doing the same thing James did but luckily he didn't.
    • Another person the whole group felt sympathetic towards was Simon Henriksson. Then young man struggled with depression and it got worse after a car accident, leading him to experience hallucinations. David felt that he was in the same place before, Sophie and Will too were bullied and ocstrasized by others and Keith also had his life ruined by a car accident, even if he wasn't a direct victim of it. Simon is grateful to meet more people like him and the group was glad that the Court of Gods were kind enough to let Simon walk again. That said, Keith is a little apprehensive of Simon given that his profile fits folks that he has dealt with in the past and Simon did end up accidentally gunning down two cops. Simon also finds it ironic that he ended up befriending another Sophie but hopes that this time he doesn't end up falling in love with this one (And Sophie also related to having your heart broken by someone you love)
    • Isaac was introduced to the group by Simon, his horrifying upbringing, encounters with terrifying monsters and gigantic issues with his parents made the whole group give him a big hug (Even Keith). Will is the one that hangs out with Isaac the most given that he thinks the wisdom of Pop could help Isaac like it helped him and he also is not fond of Ultra Greed, one of the bigger monsters Isaac has faced, given that his whole appearance gives him a nasty reminder of the Hanged Man that has haunted him for years.
  • Sophie got interested in a literature club that a lot of people were talking about and even if she is at college now, she was curious to know more about it's nature. That where she met the DDLC group, welcomed by Monika and the other three girls and while she was tempted to join, she declined after being a bit unnerved it was located in the House of Dread and Valor. Then after learning more about them, she felt bad for turning them down and decided to pay them a visit with her friends in tow. Fortunately all got along, learning that under the surface all four characters had deeper issues and weren't what they seemed relieved Sophie and the other three a little but Monika was a contentious one for them, especially Keith who couldn't quite trust her cheery personality. They still remained on friendly terms and the literature club got curious to learn more about the "Strange Men" that haunted each of these characters.
  • Considering their universe being a series of RPG maker games, some folks compared their adventures to a handful other deities from similar franchises including Madotsuki, Misao and Aya Drevis. With Misao they all get along fine and while she did become a vengeful spirit they don't think she was in the wrong to be so angry after what happened to her. With Madotsuki and Aya however, the four felt a bit uneasy, Madotsuki given her very standoffish demeanor that even made Keith look like a regular person in comparison and Aya because of her ties to a very horrible family. Aya at least wanted to be friends with Will given his similarities to the Blond Youth that helped her and Will doesn't mind her but is terrified of her father and him being around the pantheon has made the group think twice on befriending Aya.
  • The Winchester Brothers approached the group and asked them about their supernatural experiences since they all believe were real. Sophie and Will were relieved that finally some people would believe their rather outlandishes tales, David was a bit hesitant to talk about what happened with the crooked man but he told them anyway and Keith was still a bit apprehensive opening up about the Boogieman and whatever visions he had during the whole Livingstone Castle incident. Considering the brothers too had gone through some rather tough situations themselves, they all ended up befriending the duo in order to help them with whatever they need.
  • Exclusive to David:
    • David struggled with depression after a lot of his issues became reality. He failed flying school, his girlfriend dumped him, his father abandoned him and his mother was too frail and sick to give him proper attention. But he ended up fixing everything after the Crooked Man was defeated, got back together with Shirley (and later married her) and moved on with his life, even if he lost his mother shortly after.
    • He made two unlikely allies mostly given that they all share a horrible history with depression. Both Yuu Otosaka and Shinji Ikari became friends with David after hearing what happened with him and even if they belong to more fantastical worlds that doesn't mean their problems don't exist. Given that he is far more mundane by comparison and seems to have gotten on a straight path, David tries to be their Straight Man whenever they want to talk.
    • Seems to visit the House of Travel a lot, mostly to reminisce of his dreams of becoming a pilot. The folks at Air-Based Travel have been pretty good sports and welcome David with open arms whenever he wants to visit.
    • While he never mentioned to her in person, he is a little nervous around Natsuki from the Literature Club. Mostly because he had heard of her crooked version and wanted nothing to do with that. He has dealt with enough crooked monsters for a lifetime.
  • Exclusive to Sophie:
    • She had a lot of bottled up problems that she never told to anyone because she feared it would harm the ones she cared about. But she eventually Grew a Spine and decided to confront her problems head on which ended up making her more happy and overcome her insomnia, even if it ended up making her a bit too abrasive. She also was the one that went through the most supernatural adventure, considering that what she saw was very surreal and not from her own world.
    • Naturally closer to dream deities, she wanted to find the Sandman again and thank him for a lot of things but the Sandman she ended up finding wasn't the same one she knew. He also went by a different name, Dream of the Endless, and he seemingly knew about this other version of the Sandman so he adressed Sophie respectfully and told her that the Sandman also wanting to meet her again. Sandy is another version of the Sandman that she met and surprised to see considering she thought there was only one Sandman.
    • Considering she suffered from Insomnia for a while and was prone to having nightmares, Sophie is understandably a little afraid of Freddy Krueger and Pitch Black given what they represent. She also feels this way towards Darkrai but at least this version of the Pokémon is benevolent and doesn't mean harm.
    • One of her many issue was that she was bullied at her school by an Alpha Bitch that used to be a friend. She later ended up fighting back and eventually both rekindled their friendship. Nonetheless, she still is not fond of bullies and she holds emnity for the representative of the Alpha Bitch title Libby Chessler for that.
  • Exclusive to Keith:
    • On the surface, Keith Baring looks like your typical harboiled detective with Nerves of Steel and nothing to lose. Deep inside he was a broken man, desperately wanting to protect others as a means to cope with the loss of his son and putting an act of a tough man that never cries. The threat of divorce from his wife Helena, the one person he loves the most, and his encounter with the Boogieman made Keith reconsider his life choices and finally stop pretending he is fine. He solved the mystery of the Boogieman, saved everyone involved and for the first time, cried the death of his son in order to heal. And he heal he did, being at ease with himself has made his life a lot less miserable but even then he is still quite The Stoic.
    • His wife Helena is almost an unnofficial fifth member and one of two heralds of the group that spends the most time in the pantheon. The two have a symbiotic relationship ever since their son Tod passed away and Helena herself can't bear more children, so they both have one another and if one would go away, the other would be utterly broken. That relationship made Keith and Kiritsugu Emiya quite the unlikely friends, considering that he too suffers from several of the same issues Keith has gone through and his wife Irisviel has a lot in common with Helena. The one thing that Keith doesn't like about Emiya is that he uses very underhanded methods for a greater good, which Keith being a law enforcement person doesn't approve but considering he has to deal with very nasty mages, he doesn't mind much at all if it's directed at awful people.
    • Being the oldest of the group makes him naturally assume the role of the Reasonable Authority Figure and his job as a detective has him spend a lot of time in the House of Law and Justice. He respects both James Gordon and Cole Phelps for being dedicated to their job, although the latter's infidelity to his wife is a sour point for Keith and has made him lose a bit of that respect he initially had, since he couldn't even bear to think doing the same to Helena. At first, considering his skeptic nature, he couldn't believe that Batman characters existed or fictional characters for that matter but the pantheon time and time again has made him reconsider his judgement.
    • Speaking of Batman, he has met the guy and considers him way more moody than he expected. And considering his experience with the Boogieman, he hates the Joker as well. The clown found it hilarious that a paper wearing weirdo would act so much like him, or at least how Keith perceived him and so is considering doing the same to Keith if he ever gets the chance.
  • Exclusive to Will:
    • William Horton is an Heroic Bastard born from a father that abandoned his former family to be with his mother while the latter being unaware of all this. That family he left behind was David Hoover and his mother, a fact that would haunt Will for a while after finding a letter that he himself thought was directed to him, addressing him as a "Demon Child". An encounter with a deceased person that had recently hung himself would make him see different creatures and animals talk to him, something that would scare the young will and made him become more and more distant from reality, until he ran away from home to talk to David. However, he changed his mind after a small incident in a fishing store and ran away until he found himself in a shelter in the middle of the woods, where he would end up embroiled in the middle of investigation involving a loose criminal while losing his precious friend Pop in the process.
    • Of all the friends he had, Pop the world travelling super-rat was the closest. Pop would stay with him to cheer him up and give him advice to be a real good man, but running away from his house and escaping into the Deep Woods Shelter is what ultimately put an end to that friendship, since Pop ran away and Will was unable to find him in time (They did reunite but it was so before Ed started chasing Will to perform the "Happy Murders Trial"). Now in the pantheon and after having travelled the whole world again, Pop returned to visit Will and see how much of a real good man he has become. Pop in fact is the other herald that is basically an unnofficial member of the group alongside Helena, since he finds the Pantheon super interesting and it's also the first time both Sophie and Keith had been able to talk to Pop (It certainly caught Keith off guard considering the real Pop was stomped by Robert and died. He hid the truth from Will to not hurt his feelings)
    • As if it wasn't obvious, he is very fond of rats considering his friendship with Pop. First one he wanted to visit was Remy since he heard his friendship with a human allowed him to achieve his dream of becoming a cook and finds Will to be the perfect costumer. Both Will and Pop also befriended Jerry Mouse after one incident where he hid with Will while escaping from Tom. Not all the rats and mouses are friends with Will though, notably neither Will nor Pop are fond of Ratigan, a rat whose evil gives his species a bad rep.
    • He is scared of nooses, he is still is traumatized by the encounter with the Hanged Man and becoming one. This is why he was a bit apprehensive of befriending the DDLC girls after hearing of what happened with Sayori, the latter deciding to cheer the young man and stating that she too feels the same way as he does. He also is afraid of White Face after a chance encounter White Face almost made Will play their "game" involving a noose and Will ran away the moment the floating face approached him.
