  • Pities: Captain Martin Walker (Kiritsugu)
  • For the longest time, Kiritsugu Emiya have been killing mages left and right even before the start of the 4th Holy Grail War. That is until he is hired by the Einzberns to protect Irisviel, a homunculus who is groomed to be the vessel of the Holy Grail. She was also allowed to give birth, which sired Illyasviel. During their time together, they fall in love and their dynamic is exemplary; she comforts him when he's at his most broken. Needless to say, this doesn't last long as Iri got kidnapped by Kotomine and strangled to death by him when she told him about Kiritsugu's wish; after she fused with the Grail, Kiritsugu had to destroy dark constructs of her and Illya made by the corrupted Grail, breaking him even further. Their tragic story earns them their title to the Trope Pantheons.
    • Kiritsugu ascended first as the God of Pragmatic Heroes which he finds to be rather ironic, having openly criticized the Throne of Heroes for taking glory in war and finding himself in a literal Pantheon of Heroes. He's okay with his title... then he got lonely without Irisviel around. He could have spent time with Shirou and Illya but they have their own friends to hang out with, so he decided to change his title. The Court of the Gods found out his compatibility with Irisviel is unmatched compared to other couples with a similar dynamic; knowing he will not let a happier couple get in but at the same time saving them from the harsh world that awaits them, Kiritsugu accepts the change. With that finalized, at long last he has reunited with the love of his life, Irisviel von Einzbern.
  • Applies to both of them:
    • The first thing the couple did is to see their daughter Illyasviel once again. Illya is super happy that her father got her mother in the Pantheons and the three hugged each other as they cherish their new reunion. Shirou also happens to be there, and was surprised and happy to see his father once again. Kiritsugu is so proud of his growth, even commending him for throwing away his ideals to save Sakura (well, they are kind of unhealthy anyway). Irisviel took a liking to Shirou and proclaims herself his new mother figure; Shirou never had a proper mother figure since losing his birth parents in the Fuyuki Fire, so he's ecstatic to bond with her. Of course, she will not bring up her other self's tendency to sell off pictures of him to potential suitors...
      • They then meet Heracles, who has been taking care of Illya since she summoned him. Luckily, he was not a Berserker at the time so he's lucid enough to speak; anyway, the couple felt grateful for him to take care of Illya when they left her behind long ago to which Heracles accepted humbly since he's a hero and heroes got to take care of every children they were entrusted to. They were shocked and saddened that he was forced to kill his wife and child in a fit of blind rage, not unlike Kiritsugu who had to kill dark copies of his wife and child that nonetheless still psychologically broke him while Heracles understand why Illya's parents left her at the Einzbern manor. After all of this, they trust him enough to protect Illya and he too protects them by extension.
      • They are aware of Archer's real identity and Kiritsugu always made sure that he gave him a sad, but understanding smile on him. Irisviel can't help but feel somewhat uneasy towards him; not because she distrusts him, but she feels a great burden in his heart...
      • They are surprised that there's an Illya who actually lived a good life they wanted her to have. The young magical girl at first thought her parents are finally here, but then her original self told her that's not the case; Iri still took a liking to the more innocent Illya and Kiritsugu is blessed that he basically has two daughters now, even if they share the same name. They felt bad for Miyu Edelfelt, whose Kiritsugu is a more heartless man and never cared for her, to which the real Kiritsugu called him a failure of a father and resolves to be better at taking care of Miyu. As for Chloe, well... they do value her, but she has done very naughty things that they would consider un-childlike. Chloe is a little scared of them; sure they are nice to her, but she had bad memories of the other Iri kicking her ass like she's another mook for trying to kiss her while Kiritsugu has enough means to put her down lethally with his Anti-Magic Origin Bullets and a ruthless resolve to assassinate. She could nothing but shudder at their mere presences.
      • Taiga is ecstatic to see the two again for different reasons. She's got a Precocious Crush on Kiritsugu when she was younger and she met Irisviel after the latter pulled her in for the Einzbern Consultation Room gags. Kiritsugu entrusts her to keep taking care of Shirou while Iri is glad that Taiga got her out of Angra Mainyu's possession.
      • Their reunion with Saber is both conflicting for Kiritsugu and heartwarming for Irisviel. On one hand, Saber gets along well with Iri, even having fitting dynamics with her. On the other, Kiritsugu got along the least with Saber because back then, their philosophies clash greatly with Saber harboring disgust over his dishonorable actions and lack of decency despite no longer caring about him forcing her to destroy the grail while Kiritsugu considers her someone who is too bound by a romanticized view of war and chivalry to amount to much good in the world. Of course, Kiritsugu has long since been inactive in his assassination business (Maiya's not pushing it either, surprisingly) and he has entrusted his hidden ideals to Shirou entirely, so their hostilities has since reduced quite fairly; he and Irisviel are surprised that Saber and Shirou are romantically close, but they are not complaining since the two have been through a lot and they deserve some happiness after all that. Since their bitter opinions of each other crops up every now and again, their teamwork will be a last resort should everything go down the drain fast enough.
      • They both were alarmed of Saber Alter's existence, since she's basically Saber corrupted by the Greater Grail's black mud and under Angra Mainyu's control, which horrified Irisviel and unsettles Kiritsugu. Even worse is that she turned her back on her ideals, giving her a tyrant-like mentality and made her methods like Kiritsugu's. Saber Alter expresses that she now sees Kiritsugu's point of his cynicism, but since she was once the Artoria Pendragon that served him, her grudge against him didn't go anywhere; in fact it has grown a lot worse since she's now even angrier at him. Irisviel felt another of her worst nightmares have been realized upon just seeing Saber Alter, who she sees as very naive and said to her the following:
Saber Alter: I have seen far worse, Irisviel. It is better if you have not experienced all of the world's evil...
      • They were surprised to find Tokiomi's daughters being alive and well. Rin and Sakura have finally met the adoptive father of Shirou and... were surprised to see him subdued in spite of his "Magus Killer" reputation. He's fine with them being with Shirou as long as Shirou makes them happy, but he's stopping himself from telling them everything about their family because he feels they don't have the mental fortitude to take it all in.
    • Kiritsugu feels he is not fit to be a "Hero of Justice" due to not only everything that has happened to him, but his morally bankrupt actions already stripped away his rights to be one. That's why he's fine with entrusting his ideals to someone who has the powers to do so, like to Shirou as well as Sieg, Jeanne d'Arc and Siegfried and said they could do a better job than him. The three were conflicted over his actions but nonetheless still determine to be better than Kiritsugu and Jeanne hopes he may find happiness with his family in the Pantheons. Jeanne also feel obligated to protect Irisviel since the latter is a conduit of the Holy Grail; Irisviel is flattered nonetheless and they hanged out over tea with Saber every once in a while.
      • He also considers Raiden, Optimus Prime and Yuji Sakai to be better "Heroes of Justice" than him. He sympathizes with Raiden after hearing about his past as a Child Soldier, and having experienced what war can do to a person and with Yuji after hearing that he is trying to end a war that has lasted for millennia and the war would eventually end humanity. Optimus shares Jeanne's opinion that Kiritsugu may not take back what he did, but at least he felt remorse for them and hopes he finds happiness again.
    • Kiritsugu and Irisviel may had gone through a horrible war, but they had never thought a war between dimensions can break out badly. Yuya Sakaki, Yuzu Hiiragi and their counterparts filled in on their experiences to them and all they could express is sympathy and horror, especially that Yuya and his counterparts are reincarnations of Z-ARC; Kiritsugu expressed he would have killed one of them if he was there, but today he wouldn't want to consider that. He and Iri got along with Yuto and Ruri Kurosaki the best since they get the worst brunt of the war by the Fusion Dimension's invasion of their Heartland and they see themselves in the kids while Yuto finds Kiritsugu to be like his friend Shun, only more extreme and brutal while they oppose Yuri who revel in the war's chaos and everyone's suffering, which Yuri feels no need to refute despite turning good at the end.
    • The couple felt bad for Homura since she and Kiritsugu would do anything for the women they love, even relating their extreme methods to one another; she confided in them because they were kind to her and Kiritsugu considers her a mini-him. Irisviel wanted to console her so badly, but Homura refuses to ever talk about her regrets and feels she deserve the bad reputation she was given, further saddening the three.
    • Master Chief has some rocky relations with Kiritsugu; the Chief is a lawful soldier that follows orders and pushes himself to do what's right and not what's easy while Kiritsugu would do whatever it takes to get the job done and honor just doesn't factor into that equation. They have gotten a bit better when Kiritsugu said he does regret his actions later to the point he quitted after saving Shirou; at least they sound like each other which they decide is something they could exploit soon and agreed that War Is Hell. While the Chief would definitely like to see Kiritsugu use his methods against the Covenant, he's not so sure he could see him go against Insurrectionists.
      • The Chief was once Homura's guardian, but then tensions built up regarding the morality of her actions and they ended up becoming distant towards each other. Due to this turn of events, Homura now turn to Kiritsugu and Irisviel for more moral support; this also contested the Chief's and Kiritsugu's partnership and who knows how long it will end badly as well.
    • Oriko found Kiritsugu to be a bit terrifying at first due to his Magus Killer reputation, not helping matters that Homura Akemi was said to resemble him, but she later was told that Kiritsugu had a certain characteristic that Homura didn't have. She liked him a bit better because of this, though he commented that "her heart was in the right place, but she escalated her actions too quickly." Meanwhile, Irisviel did pity her due to her backstory and resulting actions that spiraled from it, though she found her murder of Madoka Kaname a bit too far, not helping that she unwittingly doomed Mitakihara City due to no one able to stop Walpurgisnacht, which reminded them of the unfortunate results of the 4th Holy Grail War.
    • Because his cynicism rubs idealists the wrong way, Kiritsugu had friction among most heroic Kamen Riders since they largely fight for the sight of good. The compassionate ones do feel bad for his tragedy while the righteous ones feel uneasy towards him for his actions. Kiritsugu for his part tries not to cross their paths too much while Irisviel largely defends her husband like a good wife would.
      • There are two Riders he did got along with; Takatora Kureshima and Hiiro Kagami. Takatora felt bad for the couple and is willing to understand Kiritsugu crossing his lines while Hiiro sympathized with losing a loved one before your eyes and saw a lot of Saki in Irisviel. Taylor Herbert, who shares the same sub-house with Takatora also gained the couple's sympathy since she's just a young kid when she's Forced into Evil; Taylor herself is glad there are adults she can trust, though she does find Kiritsugu's past disagreeable.
    • Griffin feels bad for the couple because they were stuck in a hopeless war where death is inevitable and tragedy strikes at anytime. Even in a timeline where they slain the rest of Einzbern household and getting Illya safe, there is still bound to have death and tragedy. The couple didn't disagree either with Kiritsugu stating, "Even if I have the choice to turn back time, I wouldn't have changed anything. People will die regardless and I can't change that." Relatedly, Iri is amazed that Griffin can see possible timelines, which is not that different from Iri keeping memories of other Grail Wars due to being a vessel of the Holy Grail.
    • Kiritsugu and Iri have found out that there were couples who also had an ordeal like theirs. Zero and Gunvolt found a lot in common with Kiritsugu, being former cold-hearted hunters who found someone that gave them emotional security and they also took a liking to Iri, who's sad that they lost their beloved tragically not unlike her husband losing her. Joule is still alive, but she has fused with GV who refused to see her as the same person; so, his Herald, Quinn is helping to fix that by being saved. The thing is, Joule became a new person entirely with no past memory and GV decided to give her a new life she deserves by keeping her out of his life, even if it breaks his heart. Hearing of this, Iri took GV and hugged him to comfort him and told him he's never alone anymore.
      • As for Zero's situation, the similarly named Iris, perished after being defeated while having her brother's powers, though afterwards she's alive and well in the Pantheons; she and Zero had enough heartbreak to go through but fortunately they remain amicable and Iri wished the best for each of their happiness.
      • They had a double date with Squall and Rinoa since like Raiden, Squall was a Child Soldier going through harsh training while Rinoa is a kind general's daughter. Likewise in another instance, Cloud and Tifa are Childhood Friends who also had the same dynamic with Tifa giving Cloud his emotional needs. The four were saddened that the married couple did not last very long to the end, though Kiritsugu and Irisviel assures them that it's all good now that they are in the Pantheons.
    • The couple are not happy that Kirei Kotomine and his Servant, Gilgamesh is in the Pantheons. Their reasons are understandable; Kotomine kidnapped Irisviel and strangled her to death once she expressed Kiritsugu's wish and Kiritsugu not only will never forgive him for that, but also starting the Fuyuki Fire that took away Shirou's parents and Gilgamesh enabled that behaviour, making him just as gulity. The two have been preparing for a rematch in spite of the Holy Grail War being over, yet the bad blood between them will never be truly quiet and Irisviel will NOT stop her husband for that; Saber agrees to keep Gil out of the picture should that happens.
      • They also hate Zouken Matou for torturing Sakura to the point of her not being able to be happy and Kiritsugu called it a mistake for Tokiomi to trust him. Araya Souren is also on their hit list since he's an accomplice to Kotomine by providing him shelter in his temple (an apartment complex). Kiritsugu and Maiya are looking to destroy the temple, but Araya has anticipated this however, and has erected new barriers to counter the origin bullet.
    • Ever since hearing all about Kiritsugu and how he suffers so beautifully as he's forced to lose everything he loves due to his ideals from Kotomine, Melkor is deliberately going out of his way to torment him even further with his forces of the GUAE. Yuki Terumi, Junko Enoshima, Evolt and The Joker are also following suit to ensure Kiritsugu never moves on from his despair, which he despises them for doing and considers them lower than the Mage's Association. Esdeath might top them in the sadistic department and Kiritsugu is willing to work with Night Raid in order to stop her.
      • Handsome Jack is also someone he and Iri agree to be very deplorable, not because of his pettiness, but he did monstrous actions in the name of good and that he used to be a legitimate hero which makes him an Evil Counterpart of sorts to Kiritsugu. Even worse is he murdered his own wife and abuses his daughter Angel to fuel Eridium into a Vault Key, further cementing their intense hatred towards him. Jack has a twisted respect towards Kiritsugu which he considers killing mages in cold blood to be heroic yet still considers him and Iri to be no better than Pandora's bandits, which the couple take great offense to.
    • Since he sees war as something to profit from, the couple hates Sundowner for doing so. They also hate Monsoon and his nihilistic philosophy where memes spread among people and cause great discord which they greatly disagree given their idealism. The Millennium Organization also earned their scorn due to the Major enjoying war and his subordinates are enjoying every second of everyone getting caught in the crossfire.
    • Father Homunculus has earned scorn from Kiritsugu and Irisviel due to being an evil homunculus and planning to sacrifice a lot of human souls to fuel his malevolent ends, and Illya pointed out his Philosopher's Stone is just like the Holy Grail which makes him no better than the mages of their world. Yaldabaoth is a Holy Grail himself albeit a fake one and the couple are now wary of him and his plans thanks to Saber's warnings. Master Xehanort finds Irisviel to be useful in his plans despite her not being a Princess of Heart, since he can achieve so much with the Holy Grail; Iri is alarmed and Kiritsugu angrily points a gun at him telling him to back off. Xehanort is biding his time to find a good opportunity to fit Iri into his plans.
    • Evil parents like Relius, Ghetsis, Hojo, Banno, Ragyo, Dr. Drevis and Dr. Lamb as well as the Child Abuse Supporters are instantly on their shitlist since they would never do that to Illya and consider them lower than Zouken. It's bad enough that Kiritsugu is considering coming out of retirement just to kill these sons of beyotches, though luckily his other allies will take care of that for him.
  • Exclusive to Kiritsugu:
    • Being a Vigilante Man, he's also close to Jack Bauer due to kind of similar method in dealing with what he considered evil, and he likes one of his theme songs. For that friendship, Jack has shared some knowledge with Kiritsugu, in particular his interrogation technique. Garrus Vakarian and The Punisher also got along with Kiritsugu for taking matters into their own hands and they are willing to take over his job of killing heartless magi when Kiritsugu expressed he's done killing anyone anymore.
    • Is considered the bane of MANY Gods and Goddesses in the House of Magic, even by Homura. None dared tried to piss him off or get on his bad side. When asked why, most followers would reply with, "Does the term Magus Killer ring a bell to you?" Kroak does, however, approve of him and his philosophy and Kiritsugu returns that respect with a quiet smile on his face. He and Touma also formed a Mage Killer duo and every magic user are now scared shitless of them.
    • Like with Saber, he's gotten bad blood with Diarmuid Ua Duibhne (since he never got to say that to him when he was around). He considered the hatred he got from them to be a natural reaction; they're never going to get along like water and oil since he killed Diarmuid's Master right in front of him.
    • Thanks to his skill as a 'Magus Killer', he was eventually befriended by Tavish DeGroot since the Demoman has a large amount of hate towards the House of Magic and Sorcery, mostly the evil ones. Because of this, both of them do normal hunts for evil deities within the house. Ironically though, Kiritsugu didn't want to befriend him since he may get into Artoria's bad side. He still became friends nonetheless.
      • However, at one point, Gul'dan's ascension in the House caused both of them to hunt the Darkness Incarnate. The damage around the house was catastrophic, and even destroyed half of the house itself. This became the last straw for Saber and decided to place the Demoman in her Teeth-Clenched Teamwork list, with him being the THE 2ND LAST RESORT she will work with. This got both of them disappointed but still tolerable to each other. Irisviel heard about of this from Saber and forbids her husband from going out for three weeks due to that incident.
    • He was seen drinking with Spike Spiegel and Shinya Kogami and some onlookers thought three of the same people were there due to having similar looks. Spike actually relate to Kiritsugu in losing someone they loved and some gods have actually thought of a line by the words of "See ya, Magus Killer", but they pay no mind to that. Kogami also relates to Kiritsugu in the vigilante department and they made a partnership by meeting in secret since Kogami is on the run in his world.
    • The Magus Killer is the confidant of Commander Farsight and is willing to understand his reasons for his Zero Approval Gambits. Farsight understands Kiritsugu is not willing to kill anymore and also fills in for him in taking care of Homura despite not agreeing with Homura's methods in protecting Madoka.
    • Maiev Shadowsong, who also hates mages partnered with Kiritsugu in hunting Gul'dan and other mages and fills in for Maiya should she be out of comission for a while. Illidan Stormrage calls it a shame because he sees a lot of himself in Kiritsugu and now that he partenered with someone who wants to kill him, he will not be nice to the Magus Killer.
    • As a man who has seen through the hells of war, he felt bad for Martin Walker, and they often sharing stories on how hellish war is and how people should avoid it at all cost. Walker is a bit stunned with Kiritsugu's extreme pragmatism, though, to the point of comparing himself to him of his bloodthirsty part, though Kiritsugu has said he has quitted his hunting long ago. The Magus Killer hopes the unstable captain get some help, or else he will raze another city like what he did in Dubai.
    • There is a possibilty where Kiritsugu became a Counter Guardian should he not be hired by the Einzberns and thus didn't meet Irisviel, making him even more depressed than his regular counterpart. When Iri told him about this, all Kiritsugu could do was sigh.
Kiritsugu: *sighs* It's better to have a family than not having one at all...
  • Exclusive to Irisviel:
    • Irisviel thinks Illya has her father's eyes even though Illya is technically a duplicate of her. Kiritsugu just plays along to have fun with her.
      • This actually got her pretty well with Steven Universe, who took after his mother a lot more than he did with his father. It helps that he's a sweet boy, willing to befriend both Illyas.
    • She looks really young enough to be passed off as Illya's sister, which makes her friends with Sanae Furukawa and Yoriko Yasaka. Iri enjoys Sanae's pastry and even bought some for her family while Yoriko finds herself another youngin' to look after since in homunculus years, Iri is quite young.
    • As an ingenue with so much more to learn, Irisviel got along well with Yutaka and Ventus. Ventus, having more experience in his adventures finds himself teaching them a lot of stuff; tiring, maybe but at least it's worth it. Amy Rose also befriended Iri because they both see a lot of good in people and provided morality to former cold-hearted people; it helps that Saber introduces Amy to Iri.
    • Asia Argento got along with Irisviel since they both are sweet people to talk to and they have healing powers to boot; Iri was saddened that Asia's church disowned her when they found out about her being a former devil, though Asia assures her she's okay now that Issei is taking care of her. Mai Takatsukasa also relates to Iri in having to embody a powerful object, often unwillingly. Mai is sad that Iri did not live long enough to see her daughter again, though in her eyes Iri is glad that in two timelines, Illya will finally have the good life she deserves.
      • Speaking of healers, Dr. Ziegler befriended Iri at Sanae's bakery and was surprised that they sound alike. Iri is amazed of what Mercy has accomplished while Mercy is saddened that her homunculus lifespan is so short though Iri said that's what makes her life so meaningful; with a short life, you can get everything you want quickly and cherish it forever once it ends. Mercy knows it's inevitable so once Iri finally passes in peace, she vows to be there to see her go.
    • Irisviel can drive, it's just that she doesn't care about traffic cues; that's because she has spent so long driving around her estate that she finds it exhilarating to go nuts elsewhere. This has her gotten along with Yukari Tanizaki, who is arguably worse than her when it comes to driving. At least Iri is aware that Ms. Tanizaki does go too far...
      • Shiki Ryougi remarked that she's basically the opposite of her husband, Mikiya Kokutou when it comes to driving; Iri drives recklessly with no regards to traffic safety while Mikiya drives safely like a normal person and considers traffic safety (which actually irritates Shiki).

  • Superior: Jack Kirby
  • Allies:
  • Enemies:
  • Despite the dystopia of Apokolips and its residents seeming Always Chaotic Evil, a couple proved that even love and heroism can bloom from it. Big Barda was the original leader of the Female Furies, Miracle Miracle was the son of Highfather traded to Darkseid in a peace agreement and raised in an Orphanage of Fear. They fell in love, and ended up defecting from Darkseid's forces and becoming superheroes.
  • Their ascension did not sit well with Darkseid or the forces of Apokolips, due to two more major New Gods having risen to the pantheon to oppose him. The Love That Moves The Stars had a completely opposite opinion; He adores them for being a premiere example of how The Power of Love triumphs over evil and along with Cosmos, welcomed them with open arms.
  • Big Barda was apparently influenced by Jack Kirby's wife, which is why in the pantheon he pays special attention to her and her husband. She spends a lot of her time in the House of Fighting and Combat fighting and training, where she became a friend of Elena and Chun-Li. Scott Free is the multiverse's greatest escape artist, which makes him immune to the Anti-Life Equation. Many evil deities in the House of Mind Control grumbled at this.
  • Shockingly enough, Zamasu of all people initially acted civil on first meeting the couple. The reason for this is that they actively rebelled against an evil god's ways, and Zamasu already hates Darkseid for being an (openly) evil god, and doing it for good reasons. This almost immediately fell apart when he soon ranted about how Humans Are Bastards and his own ego, ranted that they shouldn't be hanging out with mortals, and they were disgusted by the destruction he wrought for the sake of so-called justice.
  • YHVH never even bothered with the pleasantries as while He is at least not immoral to inflict purposeful suffering, they represent freedom opposed to His dictatorial order. And as far as the couple is concerned, He is practically as bad as Darkseid. They feel the same about Palpatine and Malthael, and oppose the Divine Power's cruel ambitions for humanity.
  • Lucifer has proposed an alliance of both the two and New Genesis as a whole, because they would naturally oppose YHVH and are champions of free will and freedom, Mister Miracle literally being the god of such. They declined because they couldn't condone a number of the amoral actions Lucifer has done, though will side if it's needed to stop truly vile and powerful forces of order and chaos. Such as Yaldabaoth and Galeem or Don Thousand and Dharkon, the latter two Lucifer can't stand even if they represent chaos.
  • The God known by Bob proved much more reasonable and respectful of the couple, as did Shin. They are glad to see more benevolent and powerful New Gods ascend. Auriel ended up siding with Big Barda and Mister Miracle since she lives to preserve hope, something that puts her against Darkseid and has her agree with their own philosophy about freedom and liberty.
  • Sage Harpuia respects Big Barda for leaving the tyranny of Darkseid, as he eventually realized that Copy X was corrupt and left that dictatorship. Angel relates to her as like Big Barda, she defected for love. The two are quite well-respected by Gomez and Morticia Adams for their love. They also find themselves relating a lot to the romantic dynamic with Meryl Silverburgh and Johnny Sasaki.

  • Best friends since they were really young, Lie Ren and Nora Valkyrie are two aspiring huntsmen from Beacon academy. The two are inseparable and it was natural that the calm Ren and the energetic Nora would end up sharing house when they ascended. Both Jaune and Pyrrha were happy that their team was finally reunited all together in the pantheon.
  • Comparisons between Nora with Thor and Ren with Mulan have been noted by lesser attentive gods. Ironically, the four involved do not see any comparisons, but find each others' company pleasant enough.
    • Sora has wondered if Ren was really Mulan in a new disguise for "Ping", but was later filled in by Yang.
  • Due to her Cloudcuckoolander tendencies, Nora is on good terms with several of the Pantheon's other ones. Ren just ends up coming along with her on their adventures so she doesn't end up hurting herself.
    • She's also known for proclaiming herself to be "Queen of the Castle" whenever she stands atop a tall vantage point. This tendency has earned her the scorn of Sho Minamimoto, after he found her on top of one of his garbage piles.
    • Given she's nuts and perpetually manic, Nora is forbidden to drink coffee. There are indicatives her mind would go weird on a cosmic level.
  • Ellis stumbled upon Nora once and they immediately became the best of friends given their shared backgrounds of fighting legions of monsters on a daily basis. Nora is also a big fan of the stories about Ellis' friend Keith, often dragging poor Ren along with her.
  • Nora has her own agenda for the Pantheon: finding a sloth that can be ascended into the House of Beasts. So far, she has been unsuccessful.
    • However, she has been trying to find out what a sloth actually sounds like, so she can use it as a Signal when paired up with Ren on a mission. Though Ren would like to disagree most of the time.
Ren: I don't think sloths make a lot of noise.
  • Some gods, mostly in the House of Love, have wondered if they're "together-together". They are not, but it's said that "Boop" might actually mean something else.
  • People jokingly call them "Flower Power" after Jaune decided to name their team attack. Ren still doesn't understand why he brings the flower and Nora still insists that Jaune in reality meant "Flour".
    • Other times, people like to refer to the duo as "Boop", often making Nora blush as a result. Ren doesn't see what the big deal is.
  • When Gods have a problem, they tend to go see Ren, admitting to liking him without knowing a lot about him. They then vent all their worries for him, though somehow tend to find the solutions without much of his imput. Though Ren says that he got used to it after a while thanks to Jaune and Nora.
  • Surprisingly, the two of them, along with the rest of team JNPR, are pretty good dancers. Ren states that Jaune sometimes would teach them some of his moves after a long day of training, and it actually helped them in battle sometimes.
  • Nora was absolutely thrilled when Thor decided to mentor her. Who knows, maybe one day she will be worthy to lift Mjolnir. Oh dear Primus.
    • The first day of her training with Thor, the god of Thunder was surprised to learn about Nora's incredible resiliance against electric attacks, which actually makes her much stronger.
  • Nora became good friends with Mako Makanshoku given their shared love for eating as well as for being quite crazy. And they sound the same too! Ren incidentally likes to chat with Mako's friend Ryuko given that they usually have to take care of their more crazy friend and often look after them.
  • Even though he isn't very talkative himself, Ren is quite competitive believe it or not. According to Nora, he takes Tag very seriously.
  • People have asked Ren about how he managed to explode the head of a King Taijitu with only his palm, which they considered awesome. He just says that he used his aura to do it but people believe that his Semblance revolves around exploding people's heads.
    • In actuality Ren's Semblance is revealed to be some sort of calming effect on himself and others, suppressing or alleviating negative emotions, allowing him to mask his presence from Grimm (and probably other emotion-sensing creatures).
  • Ren's encounter with a certain Japanese archer left him shaken up for a few moments, due to the strong resemblance Hanzo had to Ren's father.
  • While Nora is trying to figure out if her hammer/launcher could be a match for the Meta's knife/cannon hybrid, both agree staying out of his way is a good choice. They get along well with the good Red vs. Blue deities, even if Tex, Carolina and Washington seem uneasy whenever Nora speaks (leading to odd moments where the huntress was referred to as "C.T." or "Connie"), and Simmons prefers to talk only to Ren (even if Nora is interested in approaching him because both like rocket\grenade launchers).
  • For some reason, Ren is terrified of Annie Wilkes and hopes Nora never meets her.
  • Both of them have gone into mourning, along with the rest of the gods from their world, for the sake of their creator's passing. Nora's spent most of it alternating between crying to trying to keep everyone else happy. Ren has been supporting her and everyone else as best he can, but a lot of people have noticed he's been very quiet since then around others. Might have something to do with his voice.
    • Ren can now speak again, but his voice sounds distinctly different. He's not used to it, but he's certain he'll be happy with his new voice after some time speaking with it. Nora likes it already, but Nora likes almost everything about Ren.
    • They are happy that their creator is among the ranks of the pantheon. Now Ren is able to switch voices whenever he feels like it, but out of respect, he tends to stick with his new one.
  • The House of Food is always inviting Ren to cook with them, and his pancakes are celebrated as some of the best in the Pantheon. However, Nora is usually caged in said occasions to let others have a chance in tasting them.
  • Have been joined on their journey by Qrow Branwen, Ruby’s uncle. They value his mentorship and protection, even to the point where they agreed to help him when he was poisoned. Now that he’s alright, they’re continuing their journey to Atlas, with him at the helm.
  • Along with the admission that both are in love with each other, their Atlas exploits also led to Nora pushing herself to the limit, down to an electric current that left her with lightning shaped scars. She has decided to get closer to Hellcat after she faced a similar ordeal.
  • They can also be found in Duos.

  • Even in high school, Takeo Goda was already someone whose gigantic, muscular body and rugged looks left an impression. He was very popular with his male peers, who saw him as an ideal to aspire to, but girls thought he was ugly and frightening and so ignored him. As such, Takeo never had much luck in love, as no girl he fell in love with returned his feelings. That was until Takeo saved a girl from a groper on the train. The girl was Rinko Yamato and she was very grateful to Takeo; from there they started hanging out with each other. Takeo immediately fell for her, but didn't expect his feelings to be returned. Happily, Rinko felt the same and after a short series of misunderstandings, they confessed to each other and started dating. The couple can garner strange reactions because of their mismatched appearances (as Rinko is very cute and small), but their shared kindhearted nature makes them a great match and they are completely devoted to each other.
  • Takeo and Rinko's love story stands out for its sweetness and the message that there is someone for everyone, a message that was very well-received among those in the House of Love. This put Takeo and Rinko on the fast track to ascension. It happened as Takeo, Rinko and their close friend Makoto Sunakawa were having one of their hang-outs at the park. They were, needless to say, pretty surprised at suddenly being transported to a very mystical-looking place and being surrounded by various mysterious and strange figures. Takeo immediately stood to his full height, making it clear anybody who'd want to hurt his friends would have to go through him, but the figures appeased him, explaining that they had observed his love story with Rinko and that the two had been chosen to be deified. Takeo and Rinko were surprised and embarrassed, humbly arguing that they were really nothing special. They were given the spot anyway despite their (weak) protests, and registered Makoto as their Herald, seeing as how he helped the couple through problems so many times. Takeo swears to the heavens he will someday find a way to properly ascend his best friend, though Makoto stoically assures him there's really no need and he's happy where he is (and he means it).
  • It's no exaggeration to say that Takeo and Rinko are some of the most pleasant people around, as they're just so good-natured. It's true that some are initially intimidated by Takeo's distinct appearance, but it doesn't take a lot to make it evident that Takeo has a heart almost as big as himself. Perhaps it's for this reason that neither he or Rinko were scared upon first meeting Seiichirou Kitano, who's infamous for his demon-like face despite being one of the nicest guys around, at the House of School while doing some volunteer work. Takeo and Rinko could see by the reactions of some people around them how they perceived Kitano and understood without him saying anything. Kitano himself was pretty scared by Takeo at first sight, as he's so much bigger and more muscular than him. However with time, any fear between them has dissipated and they've become quite good friends. Them hanging out leads to some amusing reactions from deities who don't know them and only see what they theorize to be a cute Mafia Princess with her two thuggish bodyguards.
  • Takeo once spotted Tanaka-kun dozing off on a bench during recess, and worrying that the boy might miss class, decided to carry him all the way himself. Tanaka-kun was thankful for this, as his usual "helper" Ohta was sick at home and couldn't come, so he had no idea how he would cope with his usual sleepiness. Takeo was rather surprised to see a boy his own age as listless as Tanaka-kun and decided to spend all day with him, dragging Tanaka-kun into high-energy activities that he figured would be good to combat his tiredness. At the end of it, Tanaka-kun had never felt so exhausted, though rather than resent Takeo for it, he thought he had a good heart for going through so much effort for someone like him. He still much prefers to be assisted by the much calmer Ohta, though he's more than happy to hang out with Takeo and Rinko once in a while.
  • Seeing as they are so popular in the House of Love for reasons that should already be obvious, they have good relations with many of the more positive deities in that House and can count on them for help if they ever run into trouble. The House would hate it if they were torn apart or suffered in some other way because of the Pantheon. Surprisingly they seem to get along particularly well with the Addams couple, with them being quite taken with Takeo's ogre-like appearance. Takeo is suprised that they compare him to a monster and mean it as a compliment, but having seen their lifestyle, he supposes that's just how they are. Either way, he and Rinko get the feeling that the otherwise nice couple tends to be misunderstood due to their appearance, not unlike Takeo himself. Rinko hopes that she and Takeo get to be as happy as the Addams when they get married, prompting Takeo to say to himself his trademark "I LOVE HER!"
  • Takeo and Rinko also hang out frequently with Belle and Beast, with Rinko having been especially excited to meet the fairy tale couple. The physical parallels between the two couples are of course obvious, although unlike the Beast, Takeo was never ever such a jerkass in need of being reformed. Still, despite the fact that Takeo finds the Beast's past behavior (especially towards Belle) to be reprehensible, they do understand each other on the level that their appearances caused them to be shunned by people to different degrees, and both feel like Rinko and Belle complete them and make them better people. On a different note, Makoto has had his own share of bonding with Belle over the fact that they both love books and he's welcome to visit the castle library anytime.
    • Additionally, upon hearing about Belle and Beast's biggest enemy Gaston and how entitled he was in regards to Belle, Takeo decided to march down to his temple and make a speech about how women have the right to make their own decisions and they ought to be respected. While Gaston was more intimidated (and somewhat impressed) by Takeo's muscular form than he'd like to admit, anything the boy had to say to him fell on deaf ears as Gaston's ego is not so easily deflated. But in any case, the incident led to Takeo becoming more popular among the Pantheon's female population, who adore how gentlemanly he is. Not that this is new behavior coming from him, as the first time he met Rinko, he was stopping a groper from getting his hands on her. In fact, Takeo doesn't like anyone who mistreats or pervs on women and such people are the most likely for him to get into an outright brawl with.
  • The couple also count Robert, the divine Third Wheel, as an ally, and he is happy to see a couple who is so deeply in love with each other. That said, Robert's interest is more in Makoto, who fulfills a similar role towards Takeo and Rinko and has often given them advice whenever they (well, most often Takeo) got a little clueless as to how to deal with some aspect or another of their relationship. He is greatly valued by Takeo and Rinko because of that and the three all happily hang out together often. Robert himself has no less than ten friends who are all couples and he is likewise beloved by the for his ability to smooth out their problems. Robert and Makoto thus feel a kinship with each other, and Robert advises Makoto to try to date that shy girl Yukika Amami out of concern that Makoto may remain alone for a long time as Robert has. Makoto might just consider it, since Yukika IS much nicer than other girls who have had crushes on him.
  • Makoto became addicted to the mystery novels by Subaru Mikazuki. Once he bought Subaru's latest novel which was sold out everywhere, only for Takeo to accidentally drop it in a ditch. Makoto didn't show it but Takeo knew he was upset, so he and Rinko ventured to Subaru's temple. Subaru, timid as he is, was frightened of Takeo and his booming voice as he asked for a copy of his latest novel (that Takeo would pay for of course). Subaru thought this was all very unusual, but decided to help since Takeo was so distressed about ruining his friend's copy. In the meanwhile, Subaru's cat Haru was trying to have a showdown with the giant and loud human that had suddenly stepped into her territory, but instead was caught by Rinko and together with Takeo they cooed over how cute she was. Subaru thought they were very nice people, if a bit oddball, so he treated them to snacks and they talked over things, becoming friends. After all was said and done, Takeo came up with a signed copy of the novel for Makoto, who mused on Takeo's ability to draw various people to him in any circumstance. Makoto also eventually became friends with Subaru, while Haru has decided the trio are alright (though she scurries to hide whenever the giant suddenly yells).
  • Rinko is very talented when it comes to making cakes and other sweets, to the point where she once worked part-time at a famous patisserie. Takeo and Makoto relish her confections. So Rinko decided to work part-time again at one of the various interesting bakeries in the Pantheon, and Kazuma Azuma's place is what she settled on. Kazuma actual specialty is bread, but Rinko thinks it's a good way to diversify, and Kazuma is more than happy to show Rinko the wonders of bread. Takeo thinks it's a great thing for Rinko, though Makoto can't help but think Kazuma is rather dopey. Hearing of her baking prowess, Pinkie Pie became quick friends with Rinko and introduced her to her workplace in the Sugar Cube Corner, where she bakes some delicious sweets herself. With their jovial personalities and love for sweets, they've bonded over exchanging ideas for confections. This has further gotten the attention of Vanellope Von Schweetz, who comes from a video game world largely based around sweets. She dragged Ralph alongside her to taste the new baker in town's sweets, prompting Rinko to remark that Ralph reminded her of her boyfriend, as he is almost as huge. Upon actually seeing Takeo, Vanellope couldn't contain her amusement.

  • Opposed to:
  • Meet the Classical Literature Club, four students from Kamiyama High School who mostly spend their time solving mundane mysteries, usually because of the extreme curiosity of their president. For the longest time, Eru Chitanda and Houtarou Oreki had their respective own temples but felt sad that their two closest friends Satoshi Fukube and Mayaka Ibara were missing and decided to invite them along. With that, both Oreki and Chitanda abandoned their old temples and opened one for the whole Classical Literature Club, which made their friends really happy and surprised, especially when it comes from Oreki of all people.
  • The Classical Literature Club in its current incarnation formed when Houtarou Oreki, the younger brother of former club member Tomoe Oreki, was "convinced" by his sister to join the club to keep it from getting shut down, despite his energy-conservation lifestyle making him reluctant to do so. There, in the clubroom, he met the forever curious Eru Chitanda and, with the help of his best friend and "database", Satoshi Fukube, solved the mystery of how Chitanda got locked in the room even though she didn't have a keynote , the first of many mysteries to come. They ended up inadvertently gaining their fourth member, Mayaka Ibara, when they helped her solve the mystery of why a certain library book was getting checked out by multiple different girls and getting returned by the end of the day (long before anyone could have time to read it...) every Fridaynote .
  • Exclusive to the club in its entirety:
    • They tend to get along well with various detectives in the Pantheon. Although they're by no means professionals, it's not uncommon for some high school deities, for one reason or another, to come to them with a case they'd like to have solved, or just to hear their theories, though Oreki is much more cautious of manipulation since the incident with Irisu. Some detectives have found listening in on their conversations about mysteries to be a good source of inspiration when stumped on a difficult case. Chitanda especially enjoys having a great many people to take her curiosities to when necessary, though Oreki is still by far her preferred sleuthnote . Satoshi sometimes gets jealous of other detectives' natural investigative skills, but he tries not to let others see that side of him.
      • Sherlock Holmes especially enjoys their company, as he sees just a little bit of himself in each of them (except for Mayaka, who he also appreciates as another "conductor of light", not unlike his dear Watson). He enjoys watching how Chitanda's curiosity and heightened senses, Satoshi's wide knowledge in minutiae, Mayaka's relatable and straightforward observations, and, of course, Oreki's reasoning allows them to solve the little mysteries hidden in the ordinary. Oreki also reminds Holmes of his older brother, the similarly Brilliant, but Lazy Mycroft, and Holmes, in turn, reminds Oreki of his older sister, the similarly brilliant and energetic Tomoe. Satoshi is a Sherlockian (though Holmes chafes at the idea that his stories are meant for "beginners"), and Chitanda once cosplayed in a Sherlock Holmes costume, which Holmes was amused by.
      • The equally great detective Hercule Poirot was intrigued that the Classics Club had to deal with a case that was similar to one of his most famous cases, The ABC Murders, and impressed at the way that Oreki managed to solve the case. He was also flattered that Mayaka chose to cosplay as him. The costume was very well-made, and he was quite pleased at the show of recognition.
      • Every so often, the club will attempt to solve a more serious case than they're used to. While they try to avoid getting involved in violent crimes, they have aided in investigations for some non-violent crimes, such as theft or missing objects. Their greatest achievement in this area is when they managed to reason out the actual location of Carmen Sandiego herself (though the authorities still failed to actually catch her, and she quite enjoyed the challenge). They even caught the attention of the infamous Professor Moriarty and Arsène Lupin, the former of which would normally not be a very good thing, but the way they did it was by having Satoshi and Oreki cosplay as the criminal mastermind and gentleman thief, respectively, which they both agreed was quite entertaining. Since then, the two have taken a liking to them, and have even made something of a game out of carrying out subtle crimes while Chitanda's nearby simply to try to stump them.
    • The club often enthusiastically (with the exception of Oreki, who 98% of the time has to be prodded by Chitanda to even show upnote ) participates in group activities with or against other clubs and groups during festivals and celebrations. These span from detective competitions pitting them against other mystery solving groups like Mystery Incorporated and/or the Investigation Team, poetry recitals with the Doki Doki Literature Club (who they sometimes like to spend time reading and writing with, on the rare occasion they actually do that), or other more generalized contests going up against groups like the School Life Club, the SOS Brigade, the Xiaolin Dragons, and the Paranatural Activity Club. They don't win these contests very often (although they'd probably win more of the detective competitions at least if they could just get Oreki to put some effort into them).
      • Speaking of writing, Shizuku Tsukishima once joined the club, which caused some trouble when the imbalance in their members caused friction with their trope, threatening to evict them (or at least Satoshi and Mayaka) from the Pantheon. Luckily, this was averted when Shizuku realized that despite being called the "Classical Literature Club", they don't actually spend much time practicing or discussing writing or literature, and she decided to quit. She still enjoys hanging out with them for inspiration, though.
      • The club's members (even Oreki, though he's obviously not as enthusiastic about it) are big fans of the music of Houkago Tea Time. They sometimes like to spend time in their club room to listen to their music or just hang out. Chitanda and Ritsu in particular have bonded over the fact that they're both the president of their respective clubs, even though Chitanda takes her responsibilities far more seriously. What, you thought there was some other reason?
    • The relationships between Oreki and Chitanda, as well as Satoshi and Mayaka, has been a source of great fascination from the House of Love. There are still bets going on over when (very, very few deities have had the nerve to suggest "if") each couple will actually get together. A group of these bettors' wallets have gotten a bit heavier since Satoshi and Mayaka got together in second year. New bets have emerged on whether they're going to stay that way, though.
  • Exclusive to Houtarou Oreki:
    • The "master detective"note  of the Classical Literature Club may be famous for being Brilliant, but Lazy, but he doesn't really consider himself lazy (or brilliant, but that's another story). He just sticks to his motto, "If I don't have to do it, I won't. If I have to do it, I'll make it quick." which has quickly become a popular slogan for all Brilliant, but Lazy deities (and some not-so-brilliant ones). As such, he gets along well with other Brilliant, but Lazy deities like himself. He once considered setting up an "Energy Saving" club, where members could meet and discuss the best ways to avoid work and save energy. He realized pretty quickly that the best way to save energy would be to not have a club. He becomes immensely annoyed whenever he hears about Chin Chin. He has nothing really against the person himself, but his constant use of seemingly random things with no explanation never fail to get Chitanda curious, which means more work for him.
      • A secret that Oreki rarely, if ever, tells anyone is that the reason for his energy conserving philosophy is because when he was in Elementary School, his sense of altruism was taken advantage of by another student and a teacher to make him do their chores for them. When he realized what they were doing, he decided that the way the world works is that the smartest people are the people willing to force others to do the things they don't want to, and dumbest people are the people willing to do those things for smart people. Since then, he has an aversion to those who take advantage of philanthropy this way, such as Homer Simpson.
      • Shikamaru, Garfield, Konata, Yoh, Caitlin, and Keima can often be found lazing around with Oreki whenever Chitanda's not around. The former four all stay as far away as possible whenever she shows up, because they don't wanna risk getting affected by whatever it is that she does to Oreki. Caitlin and Keima can handle it, though, as long as they don't wake her up or interrupt him playing his games, respectively.
      • Once, when Oreki got sick and had to go to the hospital, he became intrigued upon encountering Dr. House, another lazy genius who uses his reasoning and knowledge to solve difficult mysteries with the help of a group of people who are available to bounce ideas off of. Unfortunately, while they get along okay (with only some minor Snark-to-Snark Combat), the occasions that Oreki has spent time with the doctor have caused Oreki to put up a barrier between Chitanda and himself, as Oreki has a slight dread that he might one day grow up to be as obsessed with solving problems as House is, and that spending too much time with Chitanda might be expediting that.
      • Especially sympathizes with Kyon and Daria. Chitanda may cause him to waste tons of energy, but Haruhi Suzumiya is, in his own words, "a rose-colored hole from which no energy escapes". As for Daria, well, just the thought of being around people like Beavis and Butthead, even if only for a brief time, makes him exhausted.
    • Although he continues to insist that he's completely ordinary, Oreki doesn't mind passing time with other intelligent deities, such as Patrick Jane, Spock, Lisa Simpson, and Yoh Asakura, so long as it doesn't take up too much energy. He doesn't mind socializing, after all, despite what many (not completely inaccurately, either) think. He's just not particularly good at it.
      • Once bonded with C-3PO over the fact that they're constantly being dragged to places they don't want to be by a more enthusiastic companion (although the dragging is more figurative in 3PO's case, since R2D2 lacks arms).
    • As part of his attempts to prove that he's as normal as they come, and that his theories being correct so often is just him being lucky, he sometimes plays a game with Chitanda where he tries to develop an insane, but possible, theory to explain some completely random circumstances that Chitanda gives him to prove that, "Theory and hot patches stick to anything."note  Inevitably, though, no matter how crazy or bizarre the theory he comes up with, it always somehow manages to be completely true. Some deities introduced him to Killia, feeling their unwillingness to admit their good qualities is comparable.
      • For example, when playing the game, he was once asked to explain some weird behavior involving Conan Edogawa. From what little he knew of the kid, he came up with a theory he considered so ridiculous and absurd, that there was, in his mind, absolutely no way that it could be true... It was that day that Oreki and Chitanda accidentally joined the ranks of the few people aware that Conan Edogawa and Shinichi Kudo are the same person. Shinichi doesn't really mind that they know, though, as it lets him add another "detective" he respects to his list of worthy allies in his fight against the Black Organization. Oreki has never been happier.
      • The only exception that has ever been found to this is an instance when Oreki tried to come up with a theory while in the presence of Joss Whedon. As Oreki's theory-making skills clashed with Whedon's natural theory negation ability, the conflict caused the entire Pantheon to erupt into spontaneous chaos for no discernible reason. Oreki and Whedon have since been banned from being in the same place at the same time without rigid supervision.
  • Exclusive to Eru Chitanda:
    • The president of the Classical Literature Club is legendary (for better or worse) for being insatiably curious about everything, and her glowing eyes and (in)famous catch-phrase, "Watashi, ki ni narimasu!"Translation is often reacted to with some combination of Cuteness Proximity, bewilderment, irritation, and/or just dread*. Naturally, she enjoys spending time with other deities who share this quality, such as Curious George, and those who seek the truth above all, such as Lanaya the Templar Assassin. Ironically, her constant curiosity makes it so she may be one of the few deities in the Pantheon who understands Gon Freecss' strange (some might even say... curious) morality.
      • She may not always seem it, but Chitanda is actually very intelligent, being a top student (even if she insists it's only because she's good at taking tests) and having an incredibly sharp memory and sensesnote . She appreciates learning new things whenever she can, so she's probably one of the few people in the Pantheon who legitimately enjoys having things be "ruined" by Adam Conover. This often causes a problem whenever she spends time with Mako, because while her logic is very obviously nonsense, Mako is an expert at convincing people that her conclusions are reasonable in spite of this, and Chitanda is no exception to that rule. Any time socializing with Mako almost inevitably leaves Chitanda filled with absolutely ridiculous ideas about how certain things work, which the rest of the club then have to dispel.
      • She regards Fi as being a very nice being, as she's always willing to provide answers to her questions, to a degree of precision that goes beyond even Chitanda's standards.
      • As a consequence of her endless inquisitiveness, Chitanda has a liking for enigmas and riddles, although she's not usually very good at figuring them out. Because of this, she likes spending time solving puzzles with Professor Layton. On the other hand, the Riddler often feels annoyed at her presence, as she's more inclined to ask people questions than she is to answer them.
    • As a fellow high school girl from a very wealthy family, Chitanda very quickly grew attached to Chiyo Mihami during an investigation into her parentage. She thinks the young child prodigy's unique intellect is very reminiscent of Oreki (even if he denies it) and often likes to cook with her and play penguins... dressed as penguins. Needless to say, the sight of Chitanda in a penguin costume is very awkward for Oreki, though not for the reason you might think.
    • Oreki's not the only one who has a robot companion. Chitanda finds it quite impressive that Probius was able to develop some degree of sentience and become more curious than other machines of its kind.
    • Chitanda's curiosity was piqued when she stopped at the Rabbit House café and saw a bunch of dishes with strange and funny names. She ended up ordering a bunch of them before meeting the person who gave them those weird names, Chiya Ujimatsu. They became friends when Chitanda mentioned a time when she got drunk on alcohol-filled chocolates, and Chiya reminisced that her friends had gotten into the same situation once, toonote .
    • Being an only child, Chitanda has a slightly romanticized view of what it would be like to have a sibling. She's always wanted one; either an older sister she could look up to, or a younger brother she could look out for. While an experience forced her to reexamine this idea and she has since taken a more sensible attitude, she still prefers to see siblings be nice to each other, and as such, she admires the relationships of Kazumi Amano, Switzerland, and Androids 17 and 18. On the other hand, she tends to feel uncomfortable whenever she sees siblings like Cain and Abel, Lina and Rylai, and Arthur and D.W. Read not acting as nice to each other.
      • Her childish behavior and demeanor often leave some deities wondering if there might be something wrong with her (though none have yet had the gall to actually ask her about it, at least not in front of her club mates), and so it should come as little surprise that she enjoys spending time with children. When she visited the House of Childhood and Adolescence, she immediately took a liking to one Yotsuba Koiwai, a young girl almost as curious as she was. In time, Yotsuba introduced her to the young Niko, and Chitanda was fascinated with Niko's puzzling cat-like appearance. Together, they like to explore the Pantheon, with Chitanda acting as a surrogate older sister, a position she finds much more challenging than she ever expected, but also much more fulfilling. Oreki's had to consider that her idea of siblings may not be entirely withered flowers after all...
  • Exclusive to Satoshi Fukube:
    • The database of the Classical Literature Club is, in many ways, the virtual opposite of his best friend Oreki, with a Photographic Memory to boot. As suggested by his nickname, Satoshi is incredibly knowledgeable in all sorts of random and useless trivia, which comes in handy when it comes to solving difficult and random mysteries the likes of which Chitanda brings to the table. He tends to avoid applying this himself, and is more inclined to lend his services to Oreki, as, "A database cannot draw conclusions." As such, he spends a lot of his time in the House of Knowledge when he's not with the rest of the club, especially Analysis and Records, where he spends time Wikipe-tan, Trope-tan, and Chuck Bartowski.
    • While he may seem to be an energetic, witty, and perhaps slightly feminine boy, those who know him well realize that this is an act. When he was younger, Satoshi was a very obsessive person who cared too much about winning. When he realized these flaws in his personality, he made an effort to conceal them behind a more easygoing personality, although to this day, he still holds a slightly bitter resentment towards Houtarou Oreki for being a better detective than himself. For this reason, no matter how tempted he may be, he has resolved to never set foot in the House of Infatuation and Obsession, and he has an immense dislike of people who share these qualities and don't put any effort into hiding them like he does.
      • Although this did get him some friends who are also Stepford Smilers like him—Adrien Agreste, Naruto Uzumaki, and Sayaka Maizono, for instance—and enjoys hanging out with Krillin, and Ron Weasley, who both know what it's like to be jealous of a more "special" friend. Adrien in particular can't help but notice that Satoshi's fabricated personality is comparable to his own as Cat Noir. The anonymity that comes with being a superhero allows him to escape his restrictive life and act as his true self, so it's somewhat disconcerting to find a similar personality being used as a form of self-control.
      • His insecurities are the reason he's been reluctant to reciprocate Mayaka's feelings for him, as he's afraid that he might end up hurting Ibara. He hasn't stepped foot in the House of Love and Affection ever since the "Valentine's Day Incident" where he secretly smashed Ibara's Valentine chocolate in an effort to avoid having to accept it. Even them getting together in second year hasn't changed this, as some deities are still bitter about it.
      • His eager personality may not be entirely real, but it has drawn some deities with genuinely fervent personalities to him, like Astolfo, and he enjoys hanging out with them, too.
  • Exclusive to Mayaka Ibara:
    • The... er... other member of the Classical Literal Club is a mostly ordinary girl. Despite her overall lack of impressive investigative abilities and frequent need to question Oreki to understand his methods and reasoning, Ibara has a strong sense of justice and discipline, which can help her make simple considerations that others might overlooknote . Although Dr. Watson likes all four members of the Classical Literature Club well enough, he finds Ibara to be the most relatable of them.
      • Outside of Oreki, who she already has a somewhat volatile—but ultimately friendly—relationship with, she can find it very difficult to get along with people that are both intelligent and lethargic like he is. Of course, she won't get violent or anything, but she'll have no problem showing what a Little Miss Snarker she can be.
    • It would be difficult to talk about Ibara without mentioning how she's been hopelessly in love with Satoshi since Middle School. As mentioned above, the House of Love is very engaged (ha ha ha) by this, and suffice it to say that their reaction when they learned of the Valentine's Day Incident was... less than pleasant. It took Hinata to calm everyone down and remind them of what Ibara already knew: that some people just need time to work through their issues before they can be ready to take that step. She was right.
      • Marinette can sympathize with being hopelessly in love with someone, and admires that she was able to be direct with Satoshi, as she's unable to conjure up the nerve to tell her own crush. On the rare occasions that Mayaka has talked to Adrien, she's gotten the impression that he might be kind of similar to Satoshi. She's agreed to help out with any schemes to help Marinette out, but she feels like there might be sides to Adrien that Marinette will have to learn to accept before they can be together.
    • Ibara is a huge Otaku when it comes to anime and manga and takes the art form very seriously, so she has a great respect for Osamu Tezuka. She'd love to meet him, but approaching the father of modern anime would be an event she equated to being like meeting Haruna Anjou and Muneyoshi Kugayama, the mangakas of her favorite manga, A Corpse by Evening*, so she has yet to gather the courage to do so. She soon joined an anime and manga club in the Pantheon, and they like her far more than the one back home did (at least, she hopes they do...), especially Peni Parker and Komaru Naegi, who are her current best friends outside of the Classics Club. She also enjoys cosplaying as some of her favorite characters on special occasions.
      • Not only is she a fan of anime and manga, but she's a gifted manga artist (though not nearly as good as she'd like to be). She'd love to make her own manga one day, but she believes she lacks the writing skills to make it work. She likes the work of Mashiro Moritaka and Akito Takagi, and has asked them for some pointers. Watson once made the suggestion that she record the Classics Club's mysteries like he does for Holmes and turn that into a manga, an idea she's giving some thought to. It is advised that one not, under any circumstances, point out the irony of her being a member of the Classical Literature Club and being a poor writer.
