    The SOS Brigade
The SOS BrigadeMembers, Divine Quintet of Genre Blending (Haruhi: The Unstoppable Force, O-Haruhi-sama | Kyon: The Immovable Object, Patron of Normalcy, John Smith | Mikuru: Moe-blob)
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/sos_brigade.png
From left to right: Itsuki Koizumi, Yuki Nagato, Kyon, Haruhi Suzumiya and Mikuru Asahina

  • Symbol: The SOS Dan logo
  • Theme Song: Hare Hare Yukai
  • Alignment: Chaotic Neutral/Chaotic Good (Haruhi), Lawful Neutral (Kyon), True Neutral (Mikuru), Neutral Good (Nagato), Lawful Good (Koizumi)

  • Enemies: The Trollkaiger, especially Yuuki Terumi, Junko Enoshima and Bernkastel
  • Odd Friendships: Yoruichi Shihouin (Haruhi), Ragna the Bloodedge (Kyon), Duke Togo (Nagato), Shizuo Heiwajima (Koizumi)
  • Friendly Rivals with: Sebastian Michaelis (Koizumi)
  • Opposes: Whis (Haruhi)
  • Opposed by: Maeda Keiji (Haruhi)
  • Extremely Complicated Relationship with: The Spy (Haruhi)
  • O-Haruhi-Sama has been feeling bored lately. With the going-ons in the Pantheon where everyone is getting traumatized left and right, she feels that she, Eru and Dream aren't really doing anything important despite having the highest positions possible. The gods way higher than them, Gygax and Arneson decided (after rolling two 20s together) that the Holy Trinity shall be no more. They were saddened, but ultimately not surprised and get packing right away.
    • After departing from the Main House, she found out that her friends have their temples in shambles due to poor maintenance and they are spending more time in the mortal realm. Not wanting to get lonely again, Haruhi decided to reunite with her friends once again by finding a new position: as the Divine Quintet of Genre Blending. At the Gods' Courthouse, she explains her reason for such a title; her series mixes a lot of genres from sci-fi to slice of life to romance among others to the point that there is no concrete genre to define the series. After some evaluating, the Court thinks she and her friends can take the title, since they have enough influence in the Pantheon for quite some time. When they reascended, Haruhi became overjoyed and declares that the SOS Brigade is back in action, much to Kyon's exasperation.
  • Haruhi also designates Tsuruya as herald due to hanging out with the Brigade very often. The latter is also excited that she gets to be part of a larger world. Some other deities might often see her as Churuya, her chibi self that often says, "Nyoron~".
  • Konata Izumi has always been the biggest advocate for O-Haruhi-Sama. She was overjoyed when the latter returned and gave full support to her and her friends. Likewise, Patricia Martin also offered to help them in school events, mostly of the anime and manga variety.
  • They also have good relations with the ESP Research Society, with Haruhi genuinely happy to meet Haruka Kotoura, a real esper in the flesh (well, everyone else knew already) and Kyon is chummy with Yoshihisa Manabe despite the latter's tendency to think in a perverse manner. Yuriko Mifune gets along with Mikuru and offers advice to her on how to seduce Kyon, like with obvious Fanservice though Mikuru takes it with a grain of salt considering Daichi Muroto's reactions to Yuriko's advances. Speaking of Daichi, he got along with Nagato and formed a club with her and Histoire, Blanc, Patchouli Knowledge and Yue Ayase because the Pantheons is too noisy and he wants to read quietly. All in all, Haruhi likes Haruka and her friends as long as they don't interfere with her plans (not that they want to, anyways).
  • Yuya Sakaki, Yuzu Hiiragi and their respective counterparts have befriended the Brigade after hearing about their many adventures. Even the Brigade is horrified by the events of the Dimensional War, as the threats of those like Jean-Michel Roger and Professor Leo Akaba have posed reminds them of various enemies they themselves have faced like Ryoko Asakura, Fujiwara, the Data Overmind and the Agency. (Luckily, Haruhi is still not aware of them.) Haruhi finds the war too much even for her and gave the counterparts full support of the SOS Brigade.
    • As for noteworthy individual interactions, Yuya and Yuzu can see how similar Haruhi and Kyon's relationship is to theirs, although they also think they need to tell each other how they feel already. Mikuru got along well with Ruri Kurosaki as she is also a fellow Nice Girl, who feels bad about her treatment by Haruhi and Mikuru's own future self.
  • They also vehemently oppose Junko Enoshima and Monokuma for getting other students to kill each other in despair in a locked down school. Junko in turn thinks they also might be perfect toys to play with and is fascinated by the fact that Haruhi has god-like powers and a person like her is perfect to fall into despair, ignoring her sounding like Monaca. No one dares to tell Junko about the repercussions...
  • Exclusive to Haruhi:
    • A Genki Girl who formed the SOS Brigade after getting bored with joining the other clubs. Her aim with the club is meeting all sorts of creatures like aliens, time travelers and espers. She got what she wanted when she first ascended to the Pantheon, further exciting her more.
      • What no one is telling her is that she has god-like powers. If she did find out that she had already shaped her universe, this can break reality in and of itself and her ignorance to this is part of the Equilibrium. The Status Quo is making sure that she remains oblivious for as long as possible.
      • With this revelation, Yuki Terumi and Bernkastel think this is a good idea to shape reality into a bleaker and dark one. They first deceive her into thinking they mean no harm which works; then they make her believe their views of everyone should be suffering and it is all hopeless to change that. The result works too well; the Pantheons ended up becoming a Fire and Brimstone Hell and everyone is finding a safe place to take cover. Luckily this did not last, as Rachel, Rika and the LOLrangers quickly come to her aid with Rachel and Palutena giving the mischievious two a beatdown they deserve. Haruhi was too broken by the time they got to her, so they get Pollyanna Whittier's help to cheer her up. Pollyanna tells her to play 'The Glad Game' and not think about anything bad Terumi and Bernkastel told her. Haruhi believes her advice, causing the world around her to literally brighten once more and gained a Morality Pet in Pollyanna. When the rest of the Brigade heard about this, they fiercely fortify their temple and prepare for the next worst incident involving the Trollkaiger.
    • Probably not Kyon's girlfriend.
    • Some sects believe Sasaki should have ascended instead of Haruhi. But since Sasaki herself does not desire this or any other position in the pantheon, this would be a moot heresynote . Likewise, another group of schismatics believe Kyon is the true God of Tropes. He pretends not to hear them.
    • Back then, Haruhi used to always keeps her trusty Reset Button, which has resetted situations numerous times, such as how Shinji Ikari's moments of happiness get cut short from her pressing it. That is until an enraged Yui Ikari stormed through the Main House and almost killed her. Even though she didn't succeed, Yui did destroy the Reset Button, freeing her son.
    • She is considered to be the greatest shipmaster in the Pantheon. Many gods have been traumatized as a result. Maeda Keiji, the resident matchmaker greatly opposes this; while he does pair up people a lot, he does so with consideration of compatibility and prior relations while Haruhi ships everyone just because they have fanart on Deviant Art.
    • How did she had the Spy under her orders, you ask? Well, he tried to disguise himself as her after getting bored of impersonating John Carmack in the Main House and it took fifty seconds for her to catch him in the act. Instead of kicking him out with extreme prejudice, she gave him three certain conditions if he wanted to keep hanging around in there: NEVER reveal any info to any god regardless of alignment, stay invisible and check if anyone is following you in the Main House and simply follow her around. He accepted, though he is still embarrassed that he got caught very quickly.
      • The other members are still very wary of him though. Even if he already expressed that attacking them is a disobedience to O-Haruhi-Sama, his very nature will still spell trouble for them.
    • She may have a bit of an ego, but deep down she does care about those around her... unless you're her enemy. Aside from Terumi and Bernkastel, she is irritated that Monaca Towa share the same voice as her Monaca herself thinks Haruhi is not worth fighting considering the latter's powers... Haruhi finds most destroyer deities like Melkor, the Anti-Monitor, Zamasu and Nekron frightening and tries to stay far away from them. What makes matters worse is that the Pantheons can still be shaped to her will and once they learned this from Terumi and Bernkastel, they individually plan to kill her in order to cause chaos and destruction to all. And ever since his ascension, Lord Fuse is on her shitlist because of what he did to the place and her friends; Fuse also fears her as much as he fears Dream of the Endless and Gygax & Arneson because she too has power over imagination, his greatest weakness and also arguably more stronger than the previous three.
    • Haruhi is chummy with fellow clubrunner Miu Kazashiro, though Miu feels Haruhi can be a bit too overbearing. She also has good terms with the idol group Muse, even getting them to perform at events organized by the SOS Brigade. A few members, notably including Maki Nishikino are a bit wary around Haruhi's eccentricities, though Kyon assures them they will be tempered and kept in check.
    • Besides Pollyanna, Haruhi also befriended Miyuki Hoshizora for wanting everyone to be happy and Miyuki definitely did not bore her when they hang out together, thus gaining another Morality Pet. She also hanged out with Excel, a fellow Genki Girl who finds kinship with her. Aware of her uselessness, Haruhi tries to have Excel in groups Haruhi personally dislikes to which Excel, being Excel always accepts with enthusiasm and no questions.
    • Gained an Odd Friendship in Yoruichi Shihouin for reasons as of yet undisclosed. Haruhi even invites her to cosplay events once in a while, which Yoruichi do accept once her schedule has openings.
    • Haruhi rejoices at her return to the mortals of the United States with the release of her adventures on DVD and Blu-Ray, and legal streaming September 13th, 2016, after a long time of being away and legally unavailable.
  • Exclusive to Kyon:
    • A reserved guy who is responsible for Haruhi's club in the first place and regrets it ever since. And this isn't for comical reasons. Also an Unreliable Narrator due to how some events are given embellishments as well as giving too much bias. He's not bothering to refuting these claims. Regardless, he exists to balance out her energy and keep the world in a roughly constant shape.
    • He may have temporary falling outs with Haruhi like when her abuse on Mikuru reaching an apex, causing Kyon to snap and almost punched her, but he and Haruhi will ultimately reconcile in spite of that. They will not making anymore big moves other than that.
    • Kyon has met Fred Jones of the Mystery Gang, who was surprised that his adventures are super fantastical. Kyon at first thinks Fred's own adventures are just child's play compared to him... until he heard of the time Fred and his friends has beaten the Nibiru Entity. From that day onward, Kyon has nothing but respect for Fred.
    • He used to be the God of Normalcy since outside of the SOS Brigade he finds other parts of his life boring, and Naota Nandaba was the one who coined the trope's name. Because of this, the two became friends, being the Only Sane Men of their worlds. Likewise, Houtarou Oreki also shares Kyon's said trait along with being dismotivated by their boring worlds. Also joining the 'only sane men' club is Starfleet Captain Jean-Luc Picard, who often Face Palms at everything going wrong. Picard also sympathized with Kyon for the various threats he and his friends faces being all too similar to his and his crew's experiences with enemies from all over the galaxy.
    • Being a First-Person Smartass, he also got along with Peter Parker and Daria Morgendorffer as fellow Deadpan Snarkers. Daria is a bit baffled why would Kyon keep hanging around with the SOS Brigade if he's so unwilling to join their escapades, to which Kyon refuted that he does enjoy their presence after a fight with himself (yes, really) realizing that he prefers wacky adventures rather than a normal life and someone needs to temper them for once.
      • Speaking of not wanting to stay normal, Kyon also got along with Azuma Kazuki and his friends as they too refuse to live a boring life. Azuma even offered to defend the Brigade whenever a threat looms over them, which Kyon accepts, given the nature of the Pantheons.
    • Also got along with Mordecai and Rigby for constantly having weird things happen to them. Kyon even joins them in slacking off, playing video games and whatnot.
    • Ever since his encounter with Ryoko Asakura going after him, Kyon started to fear Yanderes for not wanting to relive it again. Unfortunately, Lilith Madlove refuse to give him a break by chasing him, getting mad for not accepting Asakura's love for him. It doesn't help that she is too reminiscent of Asakura.
    • Because of his voice, Kyon gained an Odd Friendship in Ragna the Bloodedge who went through even worse hell than Kyon did. Together, they relate to one another about the most out-there experiences they had and Ragna even offered to defend Haruhi for Kyon after Terumi once broke her.
  • Exclusive to Mikuru:
    • A Cute Clumsy Girl who serves tea to the other Brigade members, often in a maid outfit. She is literally dragged into the club just to be the living embodiment of sex appeal.
    • Apart from standing around, looking cute, she is also a time traveler, with a star-shaped mole on her left chest. This causes her to befriend Ryotaro Nogami, Hiro Nakamura and the Doctor; the former can relate to her unluckiness and gentle, soft-spoken nature and the latter even let her join on his adventures just to cheer her up. Some speculate he is the reason Mikuru's future self is much colder...
    • She is suspected to be an alternate version of Orihime, due to similarity in appearance, personality, and English voice. Both of them deny being the same person, but they get along swimmingly and Orihime hopes she gets better treatment from her friends. Mikuru also has befriended Fuuka Yamagishi after they both shared similar stories of bullying from a close friend.
    • Has gotten along with Mikan Tsumiki for being a fellow Cute Clumsy Girl and having a lot of Fanservice moments and the similarly-named Aoi Asahina, who often shares donuts with her. Though she has nothing nice to say about Tsumugi Shirogane; Enoshima is one problem and Tsumugi sadly adds to that because of her end-goal of entertainment for herself, even being compared to Mikuru as her Evil Counterpart of sorts. Tsumugi herself thinks she would be a perfect candidate in a killing game, though she have to get through the other Brigade members considering who and what they are.
    • Some believe she is the real force behind the creation of the band Houkago Tea Time. This is not the case, though Mikuru did befriended them especially Mio Akiyama for also being Reluctant Fanservice Girls. She oftens joins them in band rehearsals and school festivals.
    • Has gotten along with both Fluttershy and Nia Teppelin, who used to be one of her former followers. Fluttershy can relate a lot to Mikuru's clumsy and gentle nature while Nia is also kind enough to her and she never treated her like an object. Most gods in proximity, even the most stoic ones cannot handle the sheer sweetness of their free time together.
      • On a related note, Mikuru also befriended the Katawa Girls and by extension, Hisao Nakai as well. But watch out, seeing the girls having fun will also have you grinning wide and blushing beet red.
    • Those who make her cry will receive a sonorous reprimand from O-Haruhi-Sama. Kyon and Koizumi learned the hard way.
    • It seems that her future self will have already arranged for her placement in the pantheon. What could her plan be?
  • Exclusive to Nagato:
    • A really quiet girl who is actually a Humanoid Interface sent by the Data Overmind to observe Haruhi and her powers.
      • She does have emotions, she just doesn't express it much. This hasn't stop her from finding kinship with the person she was based on, Rei Ayanami and her Great Herald, Origami Tobiichi. The three are often seen hanging around in the Houses of Knowledge reading in total silence together, often with Daichi's reading club.
    • So leet, she can hack reality. Challenged O-Haruhi-sama once, but got beaten badly.(Or, at least, that's the official version. There are some who believe that Nagato would have destroyed Haruhi entirely had it not been for Kyon's influence. At any rate, nowadays she is much more preferably a follower of Kyon.)
    • She got along greatly with Spock who she once served as his High Priest. They also relate their problems of feeling emotions to each other and discusses their importance to their growth. Together, they become an excellent duo of logic and analysis, often with IF joining due to being a fellow Knowledge Broker.
    • Since they don't speak very often, Nagato got along well with Gordon Freeman even aiding him in attacks against the Combine and Dr. Wallace Breen. Also gained an Odd Friendship of sorts with Duke Togo for this very reason. Try not to expect them to talk much though, let alone with each other.
      Nagato, Togo and Freeman: ...
    • Got along with Miranda Campbell due to the two sharing a voice. She even offered to defend her and Coco from various threats of the Pantheons, which she accepts with gratitude.
    • Can play the guitar better than (almost) any human. If cheered on by the Ouendan, The Beatles can beat her. And maybe Buckaroo Banzai. Maybe. But Buckethead can.
    • Has another self from a timeline where she actually got together with Kyon. Nagato is considering opening up more to Kyon to emulate her alternate self's success.
  • Exclusive to Koizumi:

  • Fears: The Xeelee
  • The Qu are an ancient race of super advanced genetic engineers from another galaxy. In their universe, future humans found evidence of a modified dinosaur on an alien world, meaning that some group had been meddling around on Earth long ago. The Star People would prepare in case of hostilities, and those fears would be brutally confirmed; the Qu are zealots who oppose the existence of other sentient life and consider the universe their playground. They are a key reason as to why people had a hard time finding other intelligent life, and brutally transformed humanity into different species with a wide array of biologies. Those who particularly resisted were subject to a Fate Worse than Death. They would leave the galaxy, allowing the descendants of these post-humans to recover. These descendants of humanity would join with another alien race to subdue the Qu, ended over a billion years of unparalleled dominance.
  • How the Qu managed to emerge in the Trope Pantheon has been lost to time...deep time. The current theory is that a clash between Overdeities opened up a Negative Space Wedgie to a point in time where the Qu were paying for their crimes against sentient life. To their shock, for all their playing God there were in fact true gods there, supernatural entities they scoffed as superstition, and alien races far more advanced than them. One struck utter terror in their society; the Xeelee. The Xeelee are overwhelming the most advanced race not called the Photino Birds in a setting where turning neutron stars into projectile weaponry is mundane and should they choose to act, a single member could shut their entire race down in the same casual tone as a human might make a sandwich. It was clear to the Qu if they were to enact their crusade, they must first realize the rules of the Trope Pantheon. They also have realized, as much as they hate it, they should make friends. With their attitude, this would take a while.
  • Fiction is replete with aliens who would invade and subjugate humanity, but what the Qu did to mankind makes most look kind. One of the most infamous examples of genetic torture was the fate of the Colonials; brick-like post-humans made to filter their waste while retaining full sentience. This is a cruelty fully justified by their blind, unquestioned dogma as The Right of a Superior Species and not a single Qu has been recorded deviating from this mindset. The horror they inflicted on humanity has made them near the top of ascended races deemed evil incarnate by humanity, some even saying they're more evil than the Daleks as extermination isn't pleasant, but unless they're in desperate genetic need your suffering won't last that long. The Borg Queen thinks the Qu are evil due to her mindset; robbing others of their individuality is messed up, but the Collective is 100% convinced this is an improvement. The Qu mutilate species that fall under them as punishment for "the temerity" of being intelligent organisms.
  • They are similarly condescending to "lesser species" to the Network, the Combine and the Grox, but they go about it in different ways. The Network believe they are improving less civilized races, though humanity disagrees with this. That said, in practice they come off as a case of the Evil Colonialist, so them calling the Qu sadistic comes off as posturing to many. The Qu seem to understand where they come from, hence them being considered rivals instead of pure enemies. The Combine don't bother with this pretense, and their ability to span multiple universes is something the Qu envy. The Grox are generally content with their superiority complex in the galactic core and merely see the Qu as rivals in the alien supremacist corner, though they do respect their genetic manipulation and punishments. The Spore Player Character is naturally horrified by the Qu, seeing them as a 5 star alien race that uses the Creature Tweaker on sentient races. The Cybertronians are similarly appalled by their actions, as among many other sins their desire to conquer and transform other sapient lifeforms brings to mind the Quintessons. And yet despite how xenophobic the Qu are they are still outclassed in the rampant contempt for other life forms by Unicron, who considers the totality of existence a condemnable temerity. The only good things he'll say about the Qu is that he admires the suffering they inflict on "their lessers" and attitude.
  • The Qu, despite their apparent Always Chaotic Evil (well, more like Lawful Evil) status, are a species and not an individual or even a Hive Mind. The idea that a small group or even an individual could sunder worlds is an absurdity to them. Unfortunately for them, they are again part of the Trope Pantheon. Frieza, even in his weakest form, blew up planet Vegeta with the effort of a human lighting a candle. He and his family couldn't give a crap about dogma or any ideology; they know what they are and Frieza in particular is skilled at enforcing his rule through fear. He likes to give the Qu "pet names" like dragonflys, even if his family privately admits their empire is a rival. Zamasu sees thing differentlynote ; a good demonstration of mortals' abuse of god-given knowledge, and a blasphemous demonstration of a god complex. Rather than call them out for hypocrisy, the Qu hold some measure of respect for him due to his dogmatic views and twisted righteousness, since they agree other sentient beings are unworthy of their freedom. The one Dragon Ball deity that seems to get along mutually with the Qu is the parasite Baby, who wishes to enact revenge on the surviving Saiyans and their loved ones for crimes their ancestors caused and act as an invader the peaceful Tuffles would probably be ashamed of. The Qu started to wonder if assimilation like Baby, rather than punishing mutation, would've been the better punishment for humanity.
  • It's something of a sore spot for the Qu when you bring up alien races who can do the stuff they do, but on a much larger scale. Over a billion years and time travel alludes them; this alone puts them at a disadvantage against Daleks and Time Lords. Power-wise they are high enough that both races consider them mutual rivals, but not nearly ones that can legitimately threaten them. The Daleks can't imagine why they consider themselves the superior race, though as this is the Daleks talking anything not involving killing comes off as two groups talking to a mirror. The Daleks prove far more stubborn in the ways and rather than using the Doctor sabotaging their invasions of planets as leeway for an Enemy Mine like the Qu would hope for in that situation, they let it happen so they can kick a dragonfly-esque alien when it's down. The Doctor has noted the Qu's similarity to Rassilon, since to solidify Time Lord control he would try to prevent any races evolving that could threaten the Time Lords. He also seeded other worlds to make sure life like the Time Lords. Keep in mind this was long before the Last Great Time War, when he really got bad. Him and Omega regard the Qu as upstarts and are contemplating sabotaging their origins so as to Ret-Gone them...hopefully it won't go belly-up like with the Daleks.
  • Unless stated otherwise, all other intelligent life is considered to be treated with as much respect as a human might give to the bacteria in a petri dish. Their contempt isn't even one of rabid hatred like that of the Daleks, who consider their mutations to be an act of pointless vanity as they'd rather just kill off subjugated races. No, their justification is akin to the Khan Makyr, The Right of a Superior Species to do what they will with all other life. A zealotry akin to the likes of YHVH, though being a literal deity He has a different idea on how to change the universe to His will. And the Qu don't necessarily care about The Evils of Free Will, even if Law's faction notes their genetic modifications would make them fit for stamping it out. Lucifer, loving humanity if in a questionable manner, doesn't see the bugs as much different from his mortal Arch-Enemy. Due to the human race suffering the most known abuse due to the Qu, suffering which continued for millions of years, many human deities would consider wiping them out to be a Guilt-Free Extermination War.
  • Professor Hojo alone is the only human who admires them for their "craftsmanship". Of course, if any human were to respect them it'd be him. Davros also admires them. The Qu don't serve his interests and his association with the Daleks alongside his ultra-fascist views puts the kibosh on an actual alliance, but he does find their genetic craftsmanship most impressive. Every single member being dedicated to one supremacist vision was a nice touch, far as he's concerned. However, he feels if they seek to be a true rival of his creations they should focus on genetically improving themselves. The VUX like the Qu too, though only because of the punishment they inflicted on humanity. This isn't reciprocated seeing as how the Qu rarely see an intelligent race they aren't offended by.
  • Their greatest enemy in the Trope Pantheon, excluding potential post-humans from their own universe, is the Imperium of Man. Few species do more to validate their own hatred of the alien than the Qu, and yet to a degree there's Psychological Projection. The Emperor of Mankind envisioned humanity conquering the galaxy as Manifest Destiny, a mindset many Qu feel about the universe. However cruel as the Imperium can be, they are capable of Realpolitik with the xenos and except for extreme circumstances would not subject any xenos to a Fate Worse than Death. Most aliens would take their chances with the Imperium and the Emperor has formed more truces in opposition to the Qu along with those that teamed up with the Qu. Further hatred towards the Qu is fueled by the belief the human genome is sacred, though there's also the mindset that genetic engineering can be used to create heroes like the Space Marine. The Emperor isn't too fond of the variety in post-humans, but he still sees in most of these post-human races the triumph of the human will...and a silver lining/middle-finger towards their Abusive Precursors.
  • It is very hard for the Qu to accept other races. Merely respecting something about other intelligent species is considered controversial amongst their scholars, but a pragmatic need to survive the Trope Pantheon has lessened that controversy. An important figure in making them more open to like-minded races was Black Doom, leader of the Black Arms and genetic father of the Ultimate Life Form Shadow. He waxed philosophically on how the Qu were completely justified in their treatment of humanity, saying that the Puny Earthlings are only fit to cattle under the "benevolent" arms of his. The dragonfly-like aliens saw nothing wrong with what he was saying, except that they believe he has a lot more he can do to "prove useful". Through him they also learned of the Chaos Emeralds, and now seek to take the "Mobians" for their own purposes. It's not all that secret that Black Doom aspires to enforce his will on these greater aliens, but he's genuine in respecting their worldview.
  • Fortunately for the Qu, there is an Overdeity-level race (and individual) that looks favorably on their actions; the Anti-Spiral. The Anti-Spiral fear Spiral Power will end up causing the Spiral Nemesis, a Big Crunch scenario, so they oppressed the universe en masse by severely limiting civilization's growth. Perhaps not as sadistic as the Qu, but still under that self-righteous, Absolute Xenophobe mindset. Turning most of humanity into the non-sapient posthumans seemed a clever way to suppress Spiral Power, so the Anti-Spiral King reached out to the Qu and said they would sponsor their efforts. Though this would inevitably attract the wrath of Team Dai-Gurren, it was undoubtedly a boon for the Qu, and motivated them to reach out to more like-minded alien races. The Harvesters, the Martians and the Khan Makyr all agreed to team up with offense against humanity as a shared motivator, though only the last one is all that ideologically motivated. The Harvesters just want the resources and the Martians from Mars Attacks are in it For the Evulz, so the Qu are more a convenient method of achieving it than truly like-minded aliens.
  • Wanted for crimes of genocide, unethical experimentation, mass torture and slavery. The Green Lanterns, Team Lightyear, the Space Sheriffs, they're on their naughty list. For their mass genetic abuse they are seen as personally atrocious by Caesar, and the Five Survivors cringe at especially cruel fates like the Mantelopes and Colonials. For AM, however, he was very pleased by all this and the mass suffering they inflicted on the human race, which is why he has formed an alliance with them. Rocket Raccoon is repulsed by the Qu, who he sees as a species-wide version of the High Evolutionary except without even the thin pretense of "perfecting" races. While all Sonic deities oppose them due to the similarities and alliance with Black Doom, Gerald Robotnik in particular is reminded of him. As a race of Benevolent Precursors, the Chozo are also quite offended by the Qu. The Animorphs have quite an ax to grind with the Qu due to their conflict with the Yeerks, aliens who enslave other sapient beings; and later had to negotiate with the Andalites, a technologically-advanced alien race who will stop at nothing to destroy the Yeerks, including committing genocide on potential host species.
  • The Qu cast a large shadow over the Hall of Genetic Engineering as it is this power which has given them the trope of Speculative Biology. Even the Star People who avoided their wrath would further explore potential human evolution by becoming the Spacers, and eventually the Asteromorphs. Members of the Qu regularly visit the Hall in order to get new ideas both on how to genetically improve themselves, and to twist whoever their dogma dictates they should. The Dehaka and Goliath are regular subjects of study, and so is the Xenomorph Drone. And before you ask, they are well aware the Xenomorphs fall under Evil Is Not a Toy; what they have in mind is dissecting it to see if they can incorporate beneficial Xenomorph traits into their own biology. They're interested in SCP-040 due to her bio-manipulation, and Megaguirus...as a pet. Since the Qu are somewhat similar to dragonflies, a kaiju version of the arthropod naturally intrigues them.
  • Some might call the Qu a classic case of Evilutionary Biologist, but this is incorrect as it would imply they had a twisted attempt to improve beings through genetic modification. It's quite the opposite; these mutations are done strictly to punish humanity, sometimes into a Fate Worse than Death, but occasionally doing stuff like creating the Hedonists, pampered pets with an Extreme Libido. If they're feeling merciful they will "merely" turn an opposing sentient race into an animal like the Swimmers, a type of human-derived seal. Of course, if they wanted to they could greatly improve something through genetic engineering, which is why they are interested in creatures made to be genetically superior. Cell, Shadow and Mewtwo are all "ultimate life forms" they want to study, likely to create their own version. The latter two hate the Qu; Shadow recognizes their similarities to Black Doom, and anyone who knows anything about Mewtwo knows how he would be offended by the idea of making "their own version". Cell, being a psychopath and well aware of the fact, thinks what they did is hilarious but finds the idea of a race calling themselves superior silly. After all, he's the perfect organism according to him and he doesn't need to make a race of himself to do so.
  • The Qu are intrigued by Ben Tennyson and Azmuth...or rather, the Omnitrix the latter invented and the former wields. The power to transform into an enormous menagerie of other intelligent aliens, most with a variety of powers...and of course there's Alien X, who's powers they're practically salivating over. They have been trying to recruit Azmuth to help use his intellect to develop their own personal "alien 3D printer", and by recruit we mean invade Galvan Prime and subjugate the race into forced servitude to reap the benefits. Ben sees in the Qu the kind of species-wide arrogance and zealotry the Highbreed once had, however he doubts he could have them have a change of heart the same way as the Qu do not have frustration at genetic bottlenecking that fueled the Higbreed's Suicidal Cosmic Temper Tantrum. He could potentially scan them into the Omnitrix, but isn't in any rush, and he's seen some nasty mutations so what the Qu did is highly repellent. The avian Caneletto isn't too fond of their genetic warping of humanity, but this is far more hypocritical coming from him. After all, the Timeless One also has a zealous vision to change the universe at the expense of everyone else. However, he's quite self-righteous and tries to pass it off as necessary; playing the Even Evil Has Standards card when dealing with the Qu helps keep up his delusions of being in the right.

  • Their story begins when five 13-year-old kids (an average boy named Jake, his best friend Marco, Jake's cousin Rachel, her best friend Cassie, and bully magnet Tobias, who gravitated towards Jake after he had scared off some bullies from him) took a shortcut through an abandoned construction site, where they happened upon an alien ship, as well as its Andalite occupant, a dying Prince Elfangor. He warned them of the secret Yeerk invasion already in progress, and gave them the power to morph into any living being they touch, before meeting his end in the hands of the invasion's leader Visser Three. They would soon be joined by Elfangor's younger brother Aximili, Ax for short, after Tobias and Cassie received his thought-speak distress signal while his vessel was stuck deep in the ocean. The Animorphs—named such by Marco—went to investigate thanks to having acquired dolphins to make the trip safely and include him in the team. At first, he counted himself apart from the Animorphs, but over time his status as their Sixth Ranger became official.
    • And so they fought a guerilla warfare against Visser Three and his Controllers that lasted three years, not necessarily to win, but to hold out for backup from the Andalite fleet. And the Animorphs would not come out unscathed. In fact, not all of them make it through alive at the end of the war on Earth. Eventually, after rescuing Marco's mother Eva—Visser One's host—just as Visser One herself was about to be executed for political reasons, Visser Three was promoted into the new Visser One, and the war eventually became more open as the Yeerks finally start analyzing blood samples upon finally suspecting that some of the "Andalite bandits" may actually be humans, requiring the team to evacuate their parents and reveal the truth to them (exc. Ax, whose parents are still in his homeworld, and Marco, who already had his father extracted and their deaths faked in a previous mission). While Cassie's and Rachel's were safely extracted (though the latter's father was a whole state away), Jake's were already seized by the Yeerk Controlling his brother Tom (and he recklessly revealed his morphing to them in response), and Tobias took a very risky mission to get his long-lost mother Loren safely too.
    • By the end of it all, "auxiliary" Animorphs were recruited (and eventually sacrificed in battle), there was an alliance with the Taxxons, the Chee were blackmailed and eventually ties severed with them, Rachel was sent on a suicide mission and died, Visser One surrendered and was removed from Alloran, negotiations were made with the Andalite fleet (and it being broadcast to their civilian network, who would not be happy with the glassing of Earth), Ax was promoted to Prince and ambassador for Earth, Tobias took off and never returned except to retrieve the urn holding Rachel's cremated remains and only one last time at the confrontation with the One, Marco drank in the fame the Animorphs got, Earth became a tourist spot for upper-class Andalites so they can enjoy the sense of taste and they're even pining for a Krispy Kreme franchise in their home world, Jake became clinically depressed but still functional, etc.. But after receiving word of Ax's situation, Jake rounded everyone up except Cassie since she's now busy with social committments and supporting the free Hork-Bajir, and the last of the group were last seen about to ram a Blade Ship against an assimilating being called The One.
  • In the old days of the Pantheon, it had just been Tobias who was ascended under the trope Shapeshifter Mode Lock. Sometime later, Ax would join him with the trope Two of Your Earth Minutes. As for why the Animorphs as a whole fit the tropes they now represent, it's because their entire story is (besides fending off an alien invasion and all the horror war entails) all about teenagers being granted with the ability to shapeshift into any animal they touch, and eventually other aliens, and even other humans, though it's not a line they cross casually out of necessity and circumstance on Earth. Second, their morphing not only resets any injuries incurred, it's extremely crucial for their continual survival as they recover from horrific wounds up to and including limb loss once per book.
  • Applies to all or some of them:
    • Through arcane and timey-wimey methods, Tobias and Ax were given instructions to move to a new temple, and in there they reunited with Jake and Marco (who were surprised to somehow made it out alive, as well as seeing Ax alive), followed by Cassie (surprised to even be here, but is awkward around Jake). And for the sake of dramatic flair, the Court representatives then showed Rachel, prompting Tobias to immediately morph human and embrace her, reaching her about the same time as Cassie. During this moment, Jake and Marco ask Ax about his situation with or as part of the One, but the Andalite refuses to elaborate, and the Court representatives recognize this as trauma and tells the boys not to ask him before he's ready, if he ever will be.
    • And then, because it was important, since she was told it specifically because she was dying, Rachel decided to tell everyone about the Ellimist's backstory, or at least what he told her (HEAVY spoilers ahead). Once that was done with, Rachel then commented that coming back like this wasn't what she thought Crayak had in mind when she ended up "taking that deal". When asked by Jake and the others, she realized what she just said and confessed to the deal the Drode had offered her: "Remember this: Your cousin's life is your passport to salvation in the arms of Crayak." Obviously, it was implied through Crayak's despisal of Jake ever since he rendered his Howlers useless that he was the target, but she technically fulfilled the deal when she killed Tom under Jake's orders. Unbeknownst to the group, technically speaking, they're all just imitations of their mortal selves "copied" before the end of their story, so it doesn't really matter.
    • In terms of their shared temples in the Halls of Shapeshifters and Narrative Genres, they took the form of two of Marco's swanky homes post-war, but at ground-floor level, with accommodations for the other Animorphs, portals connecting their two temples, and outdoor areas for Ax to graze in and to set up his scoop, which has a World Almanac during the Nineties and other research-type books, a photo of his Trademark Favorite Food the cinnamon bun (and other foods he likes), a few human clothes for his human morph, some computer equipment, and a television for watching "these messages", a.k.a. commercials). There was also discussion on who the "heralds" should be, and if it would be okay/right to bring up the Auxiliary Animorphs for that. There was certainty that Jake would refuse since he knowingly sent them all to their deaths, that they would certainly not forgive for it, and that Jake would not want to be forgiven, and they were ultimately correct. The ascended heralds instead were the other three crew members of the Rachel during the Suicide Mission at the very end of the series who went with Jake, Tobias, and Marco to try and rescue Ax.
    • Because of the aftermath of the series, the group actually isn't as united anymore. This is due to several factors, including Cassie's reckless gambit in letting Tom take away the morphing cube to spare Jake from having to kill his brother (and cause dissent in the Yeerk Empire with its power and what it means for Yeerks and Taxxons), Jake's war crime of flushing 17,372 host-less Yeerks out into space, him sending Rachel on a Suicide Mission (which she was complicit in), etc. As a result, Cassie keeps some distance from Jake when he's around, only staying in touch through the others, particularly her best friend Rachel. Tobias also resents Jake for sending Rachel on that suicide mission to kill Tom and letting her die, though Rachel herself has told him that she knew this had to be done, that she made the choice to commit to it, and will not stand for either him or Cassie taking that choice from her. And it's certainly a big change for everyone to handle, the fact that the Pantheon was not a place of normalcy, that the war was essentially over (reduced to personal skirmishes), and that their exploits were essentially public knowledge (though only for those who are interested in looking them up).
    • In terms of what might happen to any new acquired morphs should any of them die in the Pantheon, Tobias and Ax had discovered (and later relayed it to Jake et al.) that because Z-Space is heavily involved in the morphing process, it seems that all acquired morphs will remain even between death and revival. Because of that, there's no need to re-acquire morphs each time they die. However, they've been informed of another restriction: after acquiring someone, the Animorph in question must go to sleep until morning for it to be "saved" permanently in their roster. If they die before then, then that acquired creature is lost. This is meant to disincentivise reckless acquiring and actively exploiting the Pantheon's revival system for this purpose (as it is certain Rachel or Jake would try that).
    • As heavily traumatized people, they were directed to Dr. Frasier Crane for therapy, and he's seen enough strange things in the Pantheon by now to not be too confused with what they've been through. Of course, he had to work to earn their trust since the war and the nature of their enemy had made them unable to trust anyone easily. Jake and Rachel are his most frequent visitors among the Animorphs, and the latter almost desperately wanting these sessions, even if she still has a lot of issues that end up almost threatening Frasier's life a few times. But ever since becoming a Pantheon resident, he's learned to deal with these "shenanigans".
    • Despite having almost entirely grown out of doing juvenile vigilante acts like swiping guns from hunters, destroying reputations of animal-abusive establishments, or pretending to be janitors while in the form of animals, the Animorphs (exc. possibly Jake) have not grown out of enjoying the thermals while in bird morphs (usually birds of prey, but other options besides seagulls are being looked into since a peregrine falcon, bald eagle, two ospreys, a red-tailed hawk, and a harrier don't exactly form a flock). They usually do this when they need to get somewhere fast, but don't need to carry a lot. As a side-effect, rollercoasters and the like have become blase for them unless using them for a pre-takeoff speed boost. That said, after Marco saw the benefits of ducks, they've started acquiring other fliers that travel in flocks naturally.
    • Being essentially Child Soldiers in a guerilla war with a bunch of Puppeteer Parasites who hide inside their hosts and can pass off as them perfectly meant a lot of secret keeping and distrust of authority figures, and they had ZERO mentors to guide them (with Elfangor dying after just one conversation). To treat any of them as Just a Kid means an instant loss of trust from them. Thankfully, there are a lot more understanding adults who don't dismiss kids out of hand, but their concern is more on their too-swift maturity and all the trauma they've suffered over the course of the war. And because of the Ellimist's manipulations, when the Animorphs were approached by Cosmos, she had to commit to an extremely days-long negotiation with them to earn their trust. As a testament to her ability to unite so many from various backgrounds together, she managed to successfully convince the Animorphs—even Jake and Marco—of her sincerity.
      • As someone else who was drafted as a child to fight a war against aliens, they Animorphs were recommended to meet Ender Wiggin. While he's never actually been in the front lines, being more of a battlefield tactician (albeit a few degrees removed via pretenses of a simulation), he's plenty brutal when pushed to a corner, has actually committed two murders (that the government covered up because they still needed him), and has the near-xenocide of the Formics on his hands when they had already decided to stop fighting humans after realizing each one of them is sapient compared to only their Queens, and he had to live with the trauma. It was like seeing every aspect of the human Animorphs all rolled into one into one ultimate tactical human weapon; Jake's leadership, Cassie's empathy, Marco's pragmatism, Rachel's extent of violence, the former two's manipulativeness, and the latter two's ruthlessness. There was a degree of respect between the group and the young commander, and Ender could understand what the trauma of war can bring, whether or not it was hidden behind the pretense of a "game".
      • One day while milling around GUAG's command, the Animorphs heard a call for Jake and Rachel. The two cousins were about to answer, only for it to turn out that it was the similarly-named Orange Star COs who were being addressed. This eventually led to them getting to know the COs of Wars World, and the inevitable clash of morals occured. What happened there was something nobody wanted to talk about, though the Animorphs managed to remain tentative allies with the Allied Nations.
    • Thanks to her having seen them in their "morphing outfits" one time they demorphed in her line of sight, the Animorphs got themselves new threads for that job after Rarity all but forced them to visit her boutique (plus offering a few cute outfits for Ax's Andalite body). Thanks to Edna Mode happening to visit, the two fashion designers also brainstormed tougher suits as well as skintight footwear that weren't a thing in The '90s. True, the Animorphs (sans Ax and Tobias, usually) turn into alternate forms anyway when battling, but extra defense as humans wouldn't hurt. And when it comes to communications with those fluent in "animal language" such as Tarzan, N Harmonia, Ma-Ti, both iterations of Fluttershy, Eliza Thornberry, and Princess Sofia, there's potential for things to get weird if they try to talk verbally, but the Animorphs default to thought-speak anyway (apart from that one time they morphed parrots) when talking to people, so that's not going to be an issue.
    • With a much wider selection of creatures available in the Pantheon, especially all the Pokémon (Ax recalling Rachel's sisters calling him a "pokey man" once while about to evacuate her family from impending Yeerks), the Animorphs knew they had to go on another "acquiring trip" just like they had before in the Gardens Cassie's parents worked in. That said, moral quandaries have surfaced when it turned out that some of the ascended creatures were sapient and most were sentient, so that meant asking for permission (or not if they're malicious and hostile). During this tour, they happened upon Ben Tennyson, who was also about to start a similar trip, as well as, his cousin Gwen, their grandpa Max, and Kevin. And with who they are rendered public knowledge, they also shared similarities and differences between the Escafil Device's morphing power and the Omnitrix. Ben invited them to travel together, since they were doing the same thing as he, though with different parameters. Upon seeing their method of acquiring, Ben then pointed out why don't they all acquire the creature just in case, to which they all admit to never having considered that.
      • Due to how often the Monster Hunters go after the fauna from their own world, all of said fauna is usually passed over from acquiring so as not to get entangled with the Hunters, and so that it won't be a waste of time for both parties. And during test runs on particularly insane morphs like the Xenomorph Drone and the Indominus Rex*, Jake always has Tobias ready to kill him if he ever loses control and can't rein it in (even if Ax or Rachel volunteer). It's clear that he's aware that the hawk resents him for Rachel's Suicide Mission and wants to be punished for it. Tobias for his part doesn't say whether he enjoys when he has to do it or not.
      • Another interesting quandary occured when it came to acquiring other shapeshifters. It happened after a particularly nasty encounter with Chrysalis that ended with the deposed Changeling queen getting dogpiled after being outed and beaten nearly to death. That's when both Rachel and Marco had this crazy idea that they should all acquire her. Namely, the quandary came when the thought process that comes with morphing ended up getting mixed with how Changelings shapeshift, and the prospect of potentially getting stuck as a Changeling when under the assumption that they've morphed back and getting stuck, not to mention the mistrust from being Chrysalis in general. At least she can't pretend to be any of the Animorphs in morph since she can't also mimic their thought-speak. Well, she can shapeshift into Ax or his human form, but seeing him show casual restraint at the sight of food—or even some non-food—would out her quick, since he often cannot resist getting something in his mouth whenever he can (except for items he's been told not to eat). In fact, that was what outed her to them in the first place, and it had ended up in a messy brawl that the Animorphs just barely prevailed in after the real Ax came back (with cinnamon buns in hand).
    • With characters they've recognized in fiction also being Pantheon residents, the Animorphs eventually got to meet them, starting with Batman and Spider-Man. Apart from also hearing that there's a show that tried to objectively answer who would win between them (read: Spider-Man winning, though that answer could've changed since then), Rachel also once asked Peter how his outfit doesn't bag at the knees or elbows. Of course, it would also be inevitable that there would be an encounter with Xena, whom Marco has often compared Rachel to. And when they met one another in the midst of combat with some other enemy, and there was no doubt this Warrior Princess was the real deal, Rachel could not hold in her (non-battle lust) excitement, Marco did not hold back on the teasing, and Jake had to get their attention back to the battle they were all in. Xena for her part, after one sparring session where she insisted on no-holds-barred with the morphing, could see why Marco has often compared Rachel to her, and the both of them even died at the end of their sagas.
    • The Greek Pantheon gave a cursory look on the Animorphs' struggles, and a number of them have given their blessings, when they're not being utter assholes at the time. Tobias earned the respect of Artemis for his ability to turn loneliness into strength, and to be provide for himself with little support. Marco won over Hermes for his ability to get away with seemingly anything with his quick wits, and Apollo for seeing the beauty of simple clean rules of logic that is the real meaning of ruthlessness. In spite of their differences, Rachel earned the favor of both Ares and Aphrodite, for her lust for battle and her ability to draw out beauty and maintain it. Cassie drew Persephone's notice with her balancing of empathy for life and acknowledging its mercilessness, and Hestia for her care for animals and when she accepted Jake's plea to not join him in his final Suicide Mission. Gaia wasn't sure what drew her attention to Ax, but she would claim it was his curiosity for Earth in a way its own people don't have, as well as his taste for vengeance (his loss of his brother Elfangor to Visser Three) and not losing sight of one's heritage even as he's struggled between his conflicting loyalties. Hades approves of Ax's resistance to compromising his morals, not flinching from death while recognizing how terrible it is to waste life, and never letting himself be consumed by grief. Athena sees in Jake her own swiftness in demonstrating a military spirit very early on, and respects his aspects of strategizing and when he chooses to enact bold plans, although what he became in the end of that war, and the depths he was willing to stoop to, gives her pause. But that's where Poseidon recognizes himself in Jake, and his brutal self-assurance that comes with hard-won maturity, and the Greek God of the Seas approved of how Jake ruined the Howlers and supported his decision to flush the Yeerks into space.
    • Having fought them for almost three years, as well as seeing all the horrors of the Yeerk Pool's prisoners, not to mention plans to drain/kill off everything from the Yeerk Empire's conquered planets that isn't of use to them, they're enemies to all forms of slavery, oppression, tyranny, Mind Control, and brainwashing, as well as Planet Looters like the Harvesters, Puppeteer Parasites, and cults like the Sharing was. Jake in particular has the most reason to oppose the second to last, having been infested by a Yeerk once beforenote , not to mention having to live with his infested brother for so long and failing to save him in the end.
    • As for Iroque, who fell under such methods and turned good for it, they're having a difficult time coping with that fact. Though strangely they seem to have some sort of myopia in regards to the Phantom Thieves of Hearts given they're also essentially doing the same thing. And due to their experiences with fighting Controllers, they tend to skip the whole "I Know You're in There Somewhere" Fight sequence and get straight to taking brainwashed people down, and never blame the victims. Yeerk possession is more absolute compared to anything supernatural because the Yeerk is physically there in the host's brain, compared to external forces that can be exorcised, disrupted, or distracted. Speaking of slavery, they occasionally partake in raids against the Slavers whenever folks invite them to join. Rachel takes immense pleasure in killing scum, while Cassie is more focused on liberating prisoners though won't hesitate to take a life when the chips are down.
    • Being part of a rebellion has gotten them on good terms with the likes of Lelouch (though it's incredibly uneasy given that he has Mind Control powers) and Jim Raynor, which by extension made them allies with the other good-aligned Starcraft deities, though their opinions on the Zerg are low (and won't acquire any of them lest they get lost in the Hive Mind, and those who are higher up are sapient anyway). This also got them on the bad side of many evil alien conquerors, Arcturus Mengsk (for relating with Raynor et al.), and Wallace Breen (who betrayed his planet to the Combine, and thus no better than voluntary Controllers, even if it was to protect Earth from extinction). Speaking of the Combine, they're sort-of thankful(?) that it's the Headcrabs and not the Yeerks that made it as the Divine Race of Control Parasites since while they're certainly more horrific, the Yeerk Empire easily one-ups them with the bonus of being discreet and knowing everything their host knowsnote .
    • The war has taught them that no single race can all fall under a single alignment, having seen dissident Yeerks and turncoat Andalites over the course of it all. As such, they don't tolerate anyone who holds such beliefs (unless there's incontrovertible proof that it's true), and thus they opposeed the Goblin Slayer's viewpoints on Goblins until he showed them just what exactly they are in his world. As war veterans and PTSD victims, Halloween is not appreciated by any of the human (and hawk) Animorphs (anymore, if they ever did). Ax on the other hand is a bit more conflicted given he could see it as an excuse to get lots of free candy.
    • They get along with others like Natsuru Senou, who have been used as proxies in a war between far-off entities, given the conflict between the Ellimist and Crayak, though those two did have a good reason to use proxies: the last time they went head-to-head themselves, part of the universe ended up destroyed. They oppose G-Man for his manipulativeness like the Ellimist, and distrust Q for similar reasons. They also depsise cannibals, having met one by the name of Joe Bob Fenestre's host Esplin 9466 Lesser, younger brother of whom they knew as Visser Three, who abducted Controllers and took the Yeerks within for consumption as sustenance for his time in hiding when it became clear that his older twin wouldn't tolerate him. Cassie is the most vocal of them regarding this topic. It eventually culminated in at least one or two Animorphs burning his mansion down, with her, Jake, and Rachel as the prime suspects. Hannibal Lecter also reminds them of Fenestre the most.
    • Dislike those who would destroy an entire race just to deny them from the enemy, as had happened with the Hork-Bajir, and what almost happened to humanity both by the Andalite military before the Animorphs finally cornered Visser Three and turned him in. Master Chief and Cortana feel the same after 343 Guilty Spark tried that in order to stop the Flood. Because of what Jake had become as a result of the war he and his fellow Animorphs fought, they all (Jake included) despise those who send troops to their death to achieve a goal, and Mori Motonari is one such example. As such, they gets along well with Robin and the Tactician (whether or not they're one and the same), though the two are wary around the Animorphs leader.
    • Some people are confused as to how/why Ax and Tobias are uncle and nephew despite their differences as species. The answer: Elfangor, Ax's older brother, after an incident involving Time Travel and lost faith, morphed into a human, voluntarily suffered Shapeshifter Mode Lock, fell in love with Tobias's future mother Loren, married, and bore Tobias before he was brought back by the Ellimist to the war and returned to normal, leaving his wife behind and her memories of him wiped.
    • Because of the lines the Animorphs ultimately crossed to defend Earth from full infestation or complete annihilation, all ascended US Military soldiers have trouble cooperating with the team, and not just because they're too young. The CIA have problems too, particularly with Ax and Marco when they went searching for secure firewalls and breached CIA's on the way while looking for databases holding DNA samples. That said, their dedication to protecting the planet could not be denied.
    • One day, someone fed them the idea about Kevin McAlister being a potential valuable friend, being no stranger to danger, and being very cautious of adults. After hearing of everything he's been through, Marco comments that he would really want to not be against this kid. Cassie dislikes Kevin, even if she has no room to talk given what she had to do. And Rachel feels like they'd get along juuust fine, and Jake is concerned with what that might entail.
    • There are those in the House of Love want Jake and Cassie to reconcile, but despite their efforts, they only reach Amicable Exes-esque levels at best. Efforts with Rachel and Tobias are much better, and he's even staying very close to her whenever he can, as if afraid of losing her ever again, yet there are those who think this is a bad idea for some reason. Oh, and the Animorphs were given an quick lowdown of the Furry Fandom for... potential shenanigan reasons, but none of them took the bait, citing no interest.
    • Because of their experiences with dangerous technicalities certain pacifists could pull off as demonstrated by Erek of the Chee by the end of the war (as well as hearing of the end of their creators the Pemalites), most of the Animorphs have low opinions on those who meet tragic fates just because they refuse to kill by any means necessary such as Ood Sigma's race, and are wary of those who can get very technical about that principle, and have approached and evaluated various known pacifists on this matter. Kenshin has shown exemplary skill even after swearing off bloodshed. Most comic book heroes seems to hold back because if they ever jump the slope, no one will be able to stop them, though some have learned when killing is necessary. Frisk knows the limits of their ability to make peace and won't get in the way of the Animorphs. Aang was raised by a pacifist people, and even if he's willing to beat up those threatening him, his friends, or the world, he still can't bring himself to consciously snuff out a life (it took being possessed by a raging spirit, and grief from a lost animal companion, in separate instances, to achieve that). Wander knows he cannot help in any violent capacity not only because he never believes it's the answer, he's just terrible in going on the offensive. Pacifist!Iji's limit on killing is only on a personal level; she's not above arranging scenarios where the enemy gets themselves killed, won't begrudge in making headway for someone else to do the killing, and used to not count herself reflecting enemy fire as her kill before an intervention from Frisk and Sans taught her the error of that line of thinking. The Doctor has proved his ability time and time again, and he's technically empowered his Companions, who are more likely to do harm.

  • Exclusive to Jake:
    • Is probably so terrible at basketball at middle school that not even a pity spot was available for him. Or the Ellimist was involved. Or maybe his school had an unbelievably exceptional team. Either way, Jake's not interested in the sport anymore, so it's a futile endeavor. So are any comments about him looking just like Bobby Drake/Iceman.
    • Was pointed out his biggest mistake as the leader of the Animorphs: evacuating the families one at a time when the Yeerks start realizing the Andalite bandits aren't (all) Andalites after all. If he hadn't put all of his own needs last, he could've split the party in teams of two to get all their families out. And even if the "one family at a time" plan was to be enacted, they should've secured Tom first, not last, since he would've alerted the Yeerks if he heard about the other families disappearing. In hindsight, Jake realizes that should've been the plan, but his own iron control over his emotions ruled his decision, and that's why things went the way they did.
    • There are those who think TV!Daenerys' turn to insanity was completely unprecedented (one theorist aside). The Animorphs on the other hand, especially Jake (who became broken himself), think it was inevitable. As they know, war changes people for the worse, no matter how old, young, or virtuous you are. As for their opinions on Dany herself, they keep their distance, and no plans on acquiring any of her dragons are in the works; implicating her for anything by fighting as Drogon, Rhaegal, or Viserion would put them in her bad graces, even if using the Frolis Maneuver as Ax did with the other human Animorphs to make his human disguise is an option to make the dragon morph not look like any of the three.

  • Exclusive to Rachel:
    • Because she's mostly forgotten all about her civilian life pre-war, it was up to Cassie to remind Rachel of what she used to be, even if that meant going out shopping for trendy clothes (as inept as she is at fashion, though grew to be neutral about it at war's end), though the fact it's certainly been decades since the time period of the war they fought in didn't help. Tobias is often with her on dates, and there's no need to keep their powers a secret anymore. She's also wondering if she can take gymasts again, even though she's pretty tall, and she doesn't really like performing in front of a crowd.
    • Despite her gung-ho attitude towards battle, Rachel is smart enough to substitute as leader whenever Jake is unavailable. It's just that most of her plans involve causing mayhem to the enemy, even if it means sneaking in first before doing that. One of these plans also involved sneaking into a military base once to steal an experimental jet, which caused further friction with the ascended US soldiers of the Pantheon. She's also Jake's go-to girl for when a particularly drastic action needs to be done, drastic enough that he can't afford to have any debates with the entire team (particularly the moralistic Cassie and the overly cautious Marco).
    • Avoids all crocodilians since she's apparently "allergic" to it if it's in her morph roster. That mess is something she doesn't want happening again. It's not known what other creatures the others might be "allergic" to, or if there's more than one creature she might have an "allergic reaction" to. In an emergency, thanks to having seen Cassie at work, she can set a splint for a bird as she has done with Tobias once, though she would still prefer to let any experts do better if they're available.
    • One would think she's extremely fearless, but if there's one thing that utterly terrifies her, it's threats that cannot be fought period. Topping this mini-list are mind control/being a puppet, being buried alive, and drowning. Hopeless odds don't actually count, since she could still fight even if it would end in oblivion. It also means she's willing to Mercy Kill if it comes down to it, since she believes no one should have to live to be helpless.

  • Exclusive to Tobias:
    • Among the Animorphs, Tobias was the first to revel in the power granted from the Escafil Device. However, this power did come with a few caveats; for one, if one stays in a morph for over two hours, they get stuck in that form forever. And unfortunately, Tobias was a victim of that rule after he had to hide as a red-tailed hawk during their first mission, and wasn't able to find any opportunity to demorph before his time was up. "Fortunately" for him, his guardians weren't the best of parental figured and were convinced that Tobias was staying with the other. For a time, he truly was stuck, until a literal Deus ex Machina from the Ellimist gave his morphing power back (as a negotiated "reward" for helping free Hork-Bajir escapees to safety, and secluded shelter), only his default form was the red-tailed hawk now (and his human form is an acquired morph like the hawk used to be).
    • For some time before the rest of the Animorphs joined, Tobias hasn't been seen in his old temple, because of what happened in the end of his story, particularly Rachel's death; Tobias had withdrawn from society altogether as a result, spending most of his time as a hawk in the House of Nature or the Bestiary. Much therapy from concerned deities, particularly Fluttershy, managed to save him from the brink, and he was eventually convinced to return to his temple. It helped that Ax eventually ascended as well. Further help with his therapy came in the form of the saner Captain Martin Walker, who knows just what war can do to someone, especially for someone who started so young.
    • Due to his uncle having been arrested a couple of times and the man being passionate about complaining all about them, Tobias has a sixth sense when it comes to identifying police officers. An anonymous party once gifted a few game controllers customized specifically for Tobias so that he can play games as a hawk, even though he can morph into human again and they've long since grown out of playing video games. When Tobias messaged this mysterious benefactor why they sent this, the reply was "Because I can."
    • Due to his hawk instincts, he respects and fears most birds of prey, but dislikes pigeons, seagulls, crows, and golden eagles most of all. Also due to his time as hawk, Tobias has mostly forgotten how to make facial expressions, and thus has a very good poker face. Hawk expressions might still "bleed through", though. He's also pretty much a "rules lawyer" kind of guy. Naturally, as a hawk, he's feared by those his species regard as prey, such as rodents, rabbits, and the like. And as a bird, he hates getting drenched since it hampers his ability to fly. He would also prefer to not be anyone's guide dog, after having morphed the one owned by his mother in order to rescue her from Yeerks hunting her down.
    • Once, he and the rest of the Animorphs went back in time to the Cretaceous Era, where they discovered that there was an alien race that could've destroyed the meteor that would've killed the dinosaurs. In order to preserve their own timeline, Tobias sabotaged it to ensure that the meteor hits. Naturally, many dinosaur deities weren't happy with this. And Tobias is a bit peeved that King Ghidorah approves.
    • Is conflicted with the fact that he's interpreted as a transgender allegory, transforming from their old body into an other one, in which he feels infinitely more free. It was less about being uncomfortable in his old body and more from having lived a crappy home life. Still, he can't exactly speak out against those in the LGBT community who have improved their lives thanks to using him as a banner.

  • Exclusive to Cassie:
    • As someone who was raised by veterinarians and studies to be one even after the war, Cassie eventually made visits with the ascended vets and aspirants to be such in the Pantheon such as Sakaki, Inori Yamabuki/Cure Pine, Iwashiro Tesshou, and Liz Wilson. Despite being able to talk cordially about animal care, only the second of them is also familiar with the traumas of battle, and even the Cure had it lighter than the Animorph did. Of course, she eventually met the pegasus pony Fluttershy, who had helped Tobias during his mourning period in the Pantheon. And while even she still got off lighter than Cassie, maybe that's not a fair comparison since the kinds of dangers she and her friends sometimes get into can get ridiculously big, and playing Misery Poker doesn't help anybody, and so they decided to get along as friends.
      • Still, there ended up being some trouble when there came an animal-related crisis that needed Fluttershy to stop, but she had been rendered unconscious during the confusion. With no time to ask permission, and no one else available to help, Cassie had to acquire her in order to resolve the crisis. Things got bad when Discord popped over and was NOT happy to see someone impersonating his beloved friend and swiftly reversed the morph (and turns out to have somehow removed Fluttershy from Cassie's roster entirely). Fluttershy was soon aroused, told of what happened by the draconequus and the Animorph, and she asked Cassie not to do it again, since it would worry her friends, and they've already had experiences with the Changelings, who can turn into anyone. Thankfully, they've all abandoned their queen Chrysalis, who desired open conquest rather than sticking with quiet infiltration, just like Visser Three.
    • Cassie used to see herself as the Gabrielle to Rachel's Xena. With said ladies in the Pantheon, the sai-wielding former bard finds this to be rather accurate, especially given their struggles to treat life as precious (Gabrielle eventually throwing her pacifism away altogether, and Cassie continuing to struggle with it even as she took her share of non-human kills, not to mention her having come up with the plan to… dispose of David). They even have unlucky love lives (though whether or not Cassie was going to be happy with Ronnie after breaking up with Jake at the end of the war isn't known).
    • Cassie is an anomaly when it comes to certain alternate timelines. If any changes to it occur, she's made aware of it, even if not as proficiently as other time travelers. And her actions are able to revert changes to these timelines. Of course, as the incident with Visser Four proved, not all timelines can be reverted by Cassie's presence. Theories abound as to the scope of her "power", such as if a timeline is "artificially constructed" or not, or if there's a threshold amount of change that prevents anomalies like her from causing reality crashes.
    • Having seen the Yeerk Empire's attempts at this in order to try and get to the Pemalite ship after being thwarted the first time, Cassie heavily opposes mad science mutations, especially botched ones, and holds pity for those who are victims of such experiments. There was someone who once compared Cassie against Susan Pevensie. Both are female heroes who enter an adventure story, wrap up the adventure, and take on adult identities. Both get one last call to action (Tirian using Susan’s horn, Jake telling Cassie that Ax went missing) and both refused that finalmost call, in the process refusing an early and glorious death in battle. But while Susan's was framed in a negative light that Peter complained about back then (both are disappointed with that now), Cassie's was shown more positively as she was tasked by Jake to live and maintain the legacy that so many have lost their lives for.

  • Exclusive to Marco:
    • Out of all the Animorphs, Marco used to be the most reluctant in joining the fight, mainly because of his father Peter, who was depressed ever since his mother vanished; he could not afford to die and leave him behind. But that changed upon discovering that his mother Eva was alive after all… as the host body of Visser One, instigator of the Yeerk invasion and political rival to Visser Three. And despite wanting to save her, he's also ruthless enough to know that if it comes to it, he's willing to kill her to kill Visser One, no matter the trauma it would deal to him. Thankfully, circumstances in the way led to him being able to rescue her and kill the Yeerk that had been controlling her, and the Animorphs came away with it with critical intel that Eva remembered thanks to her time as a host.
    • When it comes to people who are the comic relief, the strategist, and the most serious about fighting in a war, one would think that such a person could not have all those characteristics all at once. Well, that's exactly what Marco is, and the same applies to Sokka as well. After a particular hairy situation where the two fought back-to-back, they cracked jokes and shared war stories over drinks. The Animorph had to find another way to keep in touch however, since the non-bender isn't familiar with cellphones given the time period he comes from.
    • Marco's always been a bad driver, not just because he's too young, but because he inherited that trait from his mother Eva, who drives on mountain roads at speeds that would have been high on a freeway. He's also been thinking of restarting his showbiz career in the Pantheon, even be a stuntman. However, he doesn't want the pressure of carrying an entire show, though, and would settle for being a main supporting player at the highest. Without the need to keep the whole thing a secret anymore, he's been seen bragging about his accomplishments for a while before it's clear that despite everything, his and the team's feats are still small potatoes to greater accomplishments achieved by more powerful/resourceful deities in the Pantheon.

  • Exclusive to Ax:
    • He's super good with using Earth technology, though he still comments that the internet is a bit slow, albeit not as slow as it was in the 1990s where Marco's "high end" internet speed was around 56 kbps. He even sometimes spends his spare time repairing and refurbishing laptops, then selling them to computer stores for money. Avoids the House of Musicality since he thinks all music is awful. It's not a matter of Andalites in general being unfamiliar with it, but Ax's own preference, given his brother Elfangor actually likes rock music.
    • Has once discussed the Prime Directive with Kirk and Picard as he described his kind's law of Seerow's Kindness to them, named after Prince Seerow, whose providing technology and teaching them of the stars was what ultimately allowed the Yeerks to become a galactic menace after stealing a number of ships from the Andalites, and made off with hundreds of thousands of Yeerks to spread and infest all manner of races. That said, he came to realize that it's by Elfangor breaking this law that the Animorphs even stood a chance to fend off the Yeerks (whose invasion attempt of Earth was actually their last chance to win against the Andalites by way of sheer numbers), and it's likely that the Andalites only used this Law to maintain technological advantage at the cost of so many other races.
    • Sometimes, when reminding other deities of how much time is remaining for any given task, he will always say "We have (insert number here) of your minutes left", even though the entire Pantheon shares the same time measurements, prompting a response along those lines. Given Marco has often pointed this out every time, it's speculated that Ax is doing this on purpose, just like how he has often addressed Jake as his Prince, no matter how many times Jake tells him not to. That said, there is one occasion where he didn't, and that was when Jake ordered him to torture an enemy once. It's something he would rather not do ever again, and the same goes for using ransom tactics.
    • Once caused an incident in the House of Food after going nuts (again) with his human form's sense of taste, trying out all kinds of stuff (including the inedible ones, and plenty of Tabasco sauce), finally ending when he got himself a spoonful of Mystery Food X. Despite everything, especially since his human morph seemed to have an absurd tolerance for spice (although he does mention getting "flushed" and "tingling" at times), some gods found the whole thing funny, particularly Amethyst, who came by later, and extended the hand of friendship. Since then, Ax often settles for "grazing" in grassy areas like the House of Nature, absorbing nutrients, water, and sometimes other tiny animals like worms and snails, through his hooves, though he still visits the House of Food every so often. Some people wonder if he'll make it big in eating contests, but witnesses of his spree have debated that while he would clean up at a spicy-food or gross-food eating contest, he wouldn't stand a chance in traditional "eat as much as you can" contests since he prioritizes tasting over swallowing.
    • While his race isn't entirely composed of proud warriors (just the military), he managed to get on good terms with Worf and Urdnot Wrex, which in turn brought him to Commander Shepard's attention. Ax harbors discomfort around the Renegade side (as his former "Prince" got close to this side and pretty much went off the deep end), and approves greatly of the Paragon side. He also ended up in a fierce duel with Undyne, who greeted him with a challenge as per usual of her, and gave her a very good fight with tail-blade and spear (which she gives him upon turning his SOUL green). He also used to be prejudiced against vecol (Andalites that have lost their tail blades, and are basically disabled people), but has since grown out of this by the end of the war thanks to the other Animorphs calling him out on it.
    • One day, Ax found himself infected with yamphut once again, and had to be taken to the emergency room. Cassie came with, since she had information on how it was treated, having been the impromptu surgeon for that task. After the operation was done by Derek Stiles, Ax commented that at least he didn't end up infested by a Yeerk like last time, confusing the surgeon before Cassie explained. Even now, Ax still holds the infestation against her.
    • Unlike most quadrupeds, Ax is able to jump backwards almost as far as he can forwards. His stalk eyes can see further into the ultraviolet and infrared spectra than human eyes. His tail blade isn't metallic, so slicing electric wires won't do more than induce a slight flutter through his body as long as he's grounded by his hooves. The only blind spot for an Andalite is between the eye stalks, though getting there is another matter in and of itself.
    • Some guy once rubbed their old "movie card" against Ax's fur to see if that would "demagnetize it and encrypt it to match any human security code". The Andalite was thoroughly confused by this act, and so was Marco since he was nearby during this exchange. That guy then told Marco that he did the same thing before, to which the Animorph argues he didn't, and would've milked that feature for all it's worth if he had. In any case, the "movie card" idea didn't pan out.

  • Our tale is one of adventure, deception... and pirates. Jim Hawkins and his companions, Dr. Livesey and Squire Trelawney, had acquired a treasure map leading to the treasure of the notorious pirate, Captain Flint and were looking for a crew to sail across the Atlantic to recover it. Their search brought them to Bristol, where they found the man for such a task; a hardworking but charismatic sailor with a talking parrot, thick sailor's accent and a notably absent left leg. This was Long John Silver, and he was hired to serve as the cook aboard the Hispaniola. He proved his worth though aboard the schooner, helping the Squire recruit a hardy crew and serving as a mentor and father figure to young Hawkins. But his friendly demeanour hid a terrible secret. Silver was in truth a ruthless and cunning pirate, former quartermaster to Captain Flint, and the crew he helped hired were loyal to him. They had a simple plan in mind; mutiny. note  Unfortunately for them, Hawkins had overheard their plan and alerted his friends of Silver's treachery. When they reached the island though, that's when things got interesting.
    • Silver's men launched the mutiny and took over the ship before attempting to kill Smollett and his loyalists, which didn't end well for the pirates. Silver and Smollett's groups eventually came to a truce, wherein the pirates acquired the map from the loyalists. With the map in hand, and Hawkins as a hostage, Silver led the remaining crew in search of the treasure... only to discover the cache to be empty. The infuriated pirates were about to turn on Silver and Jim, but the pair were saved by Smollett's officers, along with marooned sailor Ben Gunn. Turns out that Ben had moved the treasure a long time ago, keeping it safe in his home cave. Silver, though alive, was defeated. Smollett's crew took him as their prisoner, note  before departing the island for England. But Silver was a clever man, and one night, he escaped with a portion of the treasure, never to be seen again...
  • The House of Food was busy as ever, the restaurants, bars and other establishments providing exquisite dishes to customers great and small. But one day, a strange new tavern opened in the port sector. It was called the Spy-Glass, and it was here that one Jack Sparrownote  stopped in to get some rum. He noticed a peculiar man in the corner preparing some food, muttering an old shanty to himself. “Fifteen men on the dead man’s chest— Yo-ho-ho, and a bottle of rum!” Then Jack noticed a few Guineas, along with a bottle of rum, sitting unattended on the bar, right by a ragged old parrot. Jack attempted to steal the coins and rum, but the bird alerted its master, who turned to confront the savvy pirate. The two engaged in a battle of wits, with Sparrow trying to manipulate the old sea cook into letting him take his prize, while the old sailor blocked every attempt made. Eventually, the two drew their weapons - a sword for the sea cook and a flintlock for Sparrow. For a moment, no one made a move... until the old man began to laugh. He was genuinely impressed by Captain Sparrow's quick mind and tongue and tossed him the coins before properly introducing himself. He was Long John Silver, the only man Captain Flint ever feared, and as of a few weeks prior, a god within the Pantheon, citing how he helped shaped how people have seen pirates in popular culture. Jack was impressed by this boast, though he was a little miffed he didn't get the rum. He promised to duel Silver another time... preferably upon the open sea.
  • Silver's temple leads to two places; the first is the Spy-Glass tavern, a shady, rundown establishment in 18th century Bristol. It's the place where Silver first met Jim Hawkins and where he was hired by the Squire to begin with. He frequents this temple the most when not on the sea, entertaining patrons with tall tales about his time with Captain Flint or serving up authentic period dishes. The other location Silver's temple leads to is the island where Flint's treasure was buried, a small spit of land nestled in the Caribbean. Silver rarely visits the island, even with the remaining treasure still waiting to be obtained. It's unknown why Silver left the treasure be. Some claim he was content with the treasure he had stolen after leaving the island, while others say he didn't want to attract too much attention to his own endeavours. But if you chose to ask Silver himself, he will say he's had enough of that wretched island. Whether or not this is true is up for debate. After all, it can be hard to trust the words of a pirate.
  • Like many in the Pantheon, Long John's appearance changes depending on what timeline he last visited, sometimes looking radically different than originally seen. He's most often seen as a middle-aged man, with a grizzled appearance and demeanour. But this can vary greatly; sometimes he resembles Charlton Heston, other times he'll look like either Wallace Beery, Robert Newton or Tim Curry. On rare occasions, he will take on more animated identities, appearing as an sly, anthropomorphic fox or as an ursine alien cyborg. Whatever form Silver takes on, he remains a cunning adversary to anyone who crosses his path.
    • It was in his Tim Curry persona that Silver first crossed paths with Kermit the Frog and the other Muppets. He initially assumed Kermit was Captain Abraham Smollett and challenged him to another duel. Kermit did what any amphibian would do.. and bravely ran away, leading Silver into a trap set up by the other Muppets in their theatre. Once subdued, Kermit explained to Silver he wasn't Smollett, but they were looking for a pirate to be a part of their upcoming show. The Captain wasn't much of a professional actor... but he accepted, allowing him to perform with Miss Piggy before a sold-out auditorium. The reviews came in not long after, and Silver became an overnight sensation; a "professional pirate" as some call him. After that, the Sea Cook keeps in touch with Kermit and gang... while secretly rebuilding his crew with a few of the Muppet performers, such as Bad Polly, Mad Monty, and Clueless Morgan.note
  • Silver was quick to discover there were many other pirates in the Pantheon. Some were treasure-hungry swashbucklers like himself, while others are more heroic and only steal from other criminals. There are even those who don't follow the general depiction of a pirate, something that threw Silver off a few times. Silver often wishes for the old days of piracy, when "gentlemen of fortune" would sail the high seas looking for booty to loot. This led him to form alliances with several Pantheonic pirates. Edward Kenway, a former Privateer for the British Navy, has come to respect Silver and his exploits and will sometimes stop by his tavern to relax and get some food. He's also become friendly rivals with Risky Boots, the captain of the Tinkertub, the gun-totting outlaw Yosemite Sam, who sometimes appears as a pirate, the clumsy but good-natured Pirate Captain, who managed to thwart even Queen Victoria, and the admittedly insane Kaptain K. Rool. Then there are the pirates seeking the legendary One Piece. Marshall D. Teach, the notorious Blackbeard, found Long John to be a worthy opponent and keeps an eye on him. Meanwhile, there's Gol D. Roger, the original owner of the One Piece, who dared Silver to find his way to the Grand Line and acquire his treasure. Silver has considered hunting down the One Piece if only to prove he is worthy of being the King of Pirates. But for the time being, he's biding his time, waiting for the competition to die down.
  • When it comes to enemy pirates, Silver has quite a few adversaries to worry about. The Straw Hats, enemies of Marshall D. Teach, encountered Silver while seeking the One Piece and were nearly tricked to let the Sea Cook serve on their ship. They saw through it and after a brief duel, Silver was forced to retreat. They've been enemies since then. This extends to the Straw Hats' fellow rivals, the Gokaiger. Silver had acquired a chest from a travelling merchant and was confronted by the Gokaiger. In the ensuing fight that followed they discovered the chest had several Ranger Keys inside, instead of treasure like Silver had assumed. Silver made it out with two Ranger Keys and it not intending on giving them up to the Gokaiger. Silver has also had to contend with the anchor-wielding May, who has no interest in Long John's flattery and lies, the half-genie hero Shantae, who distrusts Long John just as much as she distrusts her old enemy Risky Boots, and the incredibly strong Popeye who while not a pirate is still a powerful sailor man with a little experience fighting pirates. But chief among Long John's new-found adversaries were William Turner and his wife Elizabeth. They were old friends of Jack Sparrow and weren't too keen on having Silver around to harm them or their son "Henry". The fact that Elizabeth is the Pirate King didn't sit well with Long John, so he recognizes her as his superior. So long as he doesn't have to deal with the Turners, Silver has little to worry about... but if they get involved, Jack Sparrow will be close behind.
    • But not every pirate was so easy to deal with. The ruthless Black Manta, a modern pirate who is more obsessed with killing Aquaman, quickly rubbed Silver the wrong way. A proper pirate shouldn't be so fixated on revenge and Manta's brutal tactics didn't sit well with Long John, so he keeps a healthy distance from the supervillain. Even worse than Manta is the vampiric pirate king Luthor Harkon. The sadistic Ax-Crazy bloodsucker met Silver one time and nearly decimated the one-legged man's crew in a brutal battle. Silver was able to escape with a few survivors and stays as far from Harkon as possible. No amount of cunning and manipulation can stop Harkon's bloodlust and carnage, so Silver has been forced to call upon Jack Sparrow, Will and Elizabeth Turner for help, knowing the three have experience dealing with undead pirates. The four have agreed to an alliance should the Pirate King of Lustria unleash hell upon the Pantheon's high seas.
  • While it's been said that Silver was the only man Flint ever feared, rumours persist that Silver himself feared another. Captain James Hook. The latter has boasted his superiority over the one-legged man, challenging him to duels whenever they cross paths. Silver on the other hand denies such claims, but should one look closely, the old Sea Cook shows a twinge of hesitation in fighting Hook. Nevertheless, the two have crossed blades from time to time, usually ending in a draw. But this doesn't faze Silver. Once and a while, he'll get the upper hand... by throwing Hook overboard to the crocodile waiting down below. He often gets a laugh from Hook's humiliation.
    • Silver doesn't just have to deal with Captain Hook. Ever since he first lay sights on Neverland, Silver and his ragtag crew have had troubles with Peter Pan, a flying trickster with a love for adventure. And fighting pirates. Pan takes every opportunity to mess with Silver's crew, even leading them on fake treasure hunts just so he and the Lost Boys can ambush them. Silver though quickly caught on to Pan's tricks, and attempted to capture his friends Wendy, John and Michael. This crossed the line for Peter, who swooped him to save his London-based friends. Truth be told, Silver wasn't going to hurt the children, but the incident caused Silver and Peter to cross blades many times afterwards. The only they're not trying to fight each other is whenever Hook gets involved.
  • Sora, Donald Duck and Goofy have not met Long John Silver on their travels, but they quickly learned about him thanks to Peter Pan and Jack Sparrow. They encountered the old pirate in the Pantheon in his cyborg incarnation and were initially shocked that he could summon Heartless to fight for him. After a quick battle, Silver was bested and the Heartless vanished... as did Silver. The next time they met, Silver claimed he wasn't in the mood for a fight and that he changed his tune. But Sora and his friends were still wary. They didn't see any Heartless around which they were thankful for but they didn't want to take any chances.
  • It should be noted that Silver is at perhaps his kindest whenever he is a cyborg. In this, Silver led a crew of alien pirates in seeking out the fabled "Treasure Planet", only to befriend the young Jim Hawkins. He was able to escape captivity and after giving Jim a tearful farewell, continued seeking fortune elsewhere. Many of the Disney villains in the Pantheon find Silver as a cyborg to be "in danger of going soft." He dismisses these claims, but it's hard to hide the truth. Ever since his time with Hawkins, Silver tries not to harm the Pantheon's children. Along with the aforementioned Wendy, John and Michael, he's become acquainted with a pair of siblings named Jack and Annie Smith. They were initially wary of the pirates, thanks to an encounter with Captain Bones, but Silver admired their tenacity and courage, so he makes sure not to mess with them. That being said, Silver isn't a nice guy by any means. He's not a pirate for nothing. However, sometimes he'll lend some old-fashioned wisdom to those who need it, then he'll try and rob you.
  • While looking for new ventures and exploits, Silver heard rumours of a "Pirate's Silver" in a far-off world. Curious, he sought out those who knew about this treasure, leading him to a young Waterbender named Katara. He initially thought she was a naive goody-two-shoes who he could steal from. Except it didn't work out that way. She sent his crew overboard before robbing him. As she put it, "Stealing is wrong... unless it's from pirates."
    • Silver dug a little deeper into Katara's history with pirates. Turns out she once aided a pirate crew aboard the Flying Wolfbat during the Hundred Year War, helping to deliver what turned out to be medicine to poor Earth Kingdom villagers... all in exchange for Silver Lillies. Long John was admittedly disappointed by the revelation but he can respect a pirate who fights for their homeland. Katara, on the other hand, doesn't like Silver one bit. Sure, he can be honourable at times but she's had enough experience with pirates to know he's a ruthless killer who would slit his mother's throat for a gold piece. She's stayed away from him as a result and should they cross paths, she just freezes his ship to keep from going anywhere.
  • One day, A strange man entered the "Spy-Glass" looking for some food and drink. He was accompanied by a red and blue parrot with a loud-mouthed personality and a foul temper. These two individuals, Cassim and Iago, had come from Agrabah to seek new fame and fortune in the Pantheon. Silver was quick to capitalize on this. He became acquainted with Cassim and Iago, offering to help them obtain treasures beyond their wildest dreams. Cassim admitted he almost had a treasure like that - the Hand of Midas - but choose to throw it into the sea after realizing he already had a priceless treasure; his son Aladdin. Silver can respect a man who loves his son, and vows to help Cassim make the most of his time in the Pantheon. As for Iago? Silver tries to keep his parrot, Captain Flint, from arguing with the big-mouthed bird all too much. That, and he knows not to feed Iago crackers.
  • Silver has seen many worlds following his ascension, but the one he shows the greatest hesitation in exploring is the World of Ice And Fire. It wasn't because it lacked riches - far from it - he's often seen in the Free Cities of Pentos making a profit as a "privateer for hire". But when it comes to Westeros, that's where he draws the line. The realm is a promising prospect, especially since the numerous wars have weakened its defences and opened the door to piracy. But the Seven Kingdoms have their own pirates; chief among them Euron Greyjoy of the Iron Islands. The Iron Men have always been raiders and scoundrels but Euron's own cruelty, lust for power and connections to dark magic made Silver rather uncomfortable. It didn't help that Euron tried to kill Silver and his crew when they first crossed paths.
    • On the other side of the spectrum is Stannis Baratheon. The Lord of Dragonstone may have pirates and smugglers in his employment, but he is a stern believer in hard justice and has no time for Silver and his shenanigans. Stannis has declared Silver an enemy of the realm and intends on capturing and executing the pirate for his crimes. As a result, Ol' Long John stays well and truly far away from Westeros. At the very least though, Silver is on good terms with Stannis' second-in-command, Davos Seaworth, who was once a smuggler before being knighted. They don't often meet but they're usually seen at the Spy-Glass discussing their many adventures... at least until Stannis comes calling, that is.
  • "There was some that was feared of Pew, and some that was feared of Flint; but Flint his own self was feared of me."
  • Also found in the House of Piracy.

  • Private Snafu enlisted in the United States Army in 1943 and had a stunning military career... suffering one glorious disaster after another at the hands of either his enemies, or by his own incompetence. At the end of the day though it didn't matter, as the dimwitted Private's antics served to educate new army recruits in what NOT to do while enlisted. For that, as well as being among the most recognizable Wartime Cartoon characters, he was brought to the Pantheon to share in a boatload of new adventures... and more blunders to boot.
  • When he first ascended, Snafu was welcomed by the Looney Tunes, who also served in the War effort. Bugs Bunny lead the Private to his temple, revealing along the way that he had vouched for his ascension and apologized for the time he snuck into Snafu's handbag during a gas mask drill. Since that first day, Snafu has been welcomed into the Looney Tune inner circle, all sharing their own harrowing and wacky adventures both on and off the front lines.
    • Despite also serving in the war effort, Snafu is wary around the deities of Walt Disney. This may have to do with Walt originally wanting to do the original short films and owning the rights to them in the process. That said, the Private did become a good friend with Donald Duck and the Three Stooges as all five fought in both the European and Pacific theatres.
  • Upon ascending, Snafu was accompanied by a strange, cigar chomping pixie; one Technical Fairy First Class. He serves as the Private's Herald and acts as a conscience, helping to teach the valuable lessons needed to survive on the battlefield. Sometimes it works... and sometimes it really, really doesn't.
  • Many have asked what the name Snafu exactly means. He's been quiet about it but eventually, after much persuasion, he gave in and confessed. Turns out it's a military code that translates out to "Situation Normal All... All Fouled Up." The same is used for Snafu's two brothers. There's Fubar Note and Tarfu. Note
  • War has changed since 1945 and with it has come a whole new generation of dangerous warriors to tangle with. Snafu though was none the wiser and believes as long as there are Axis forces still lingering about the war is not finished. This mindset did lead him to try and challenge Sundowner to prove that his fighting tools were the best around. It all went downhill from there.
  • Unsurprisingly, the ascended Nazis of the Pantheon were not too happy to hear another American soldier had ascended, even if this particular soldier is not the most threatening of the bunch. In fact, all of them have shown the poor Private the ropes and made him look like a complete waste of soldier material. But even as they beat him into the ground, Sanfu has not given up; he'll continue to fight the good fight no matter what.
    • Also unsurprisingly, EVERY single deity of Japanese descent despises Private Snafu due to how they're portrayed in the various shorts. This is especially true with Seita, who is not only very patriotic towards the Japanese empire of his time, but also lost his mother in the Allied firebombing of Kobe. His sister Setsuko, being younger, doesn't share her brother's hatred of Snafu, and finds him to be rather goofy.
  • Almost every single American/Allied soldier present in the Pantheon keeps themselves well and faraway from Private Snafu, whom they consider to be a sign of bad luck. Figure such as Richard Winters, Ronald Spier John Basilone, and even Cole Phelps don't want anything to do with him. In fact, the only one who has tried to help out the poor Private is Captain America, who was once considered unfit for service and has a soft spot for the soldiers he fought alongside. As a result, Cap and Agent Carter have been training Snafu in proper military etiquette, in the hopes that one day he will become fit for proper military service. Progress has been slow but it has been made.
  • While he may not be the smartest soldier in the service, there are times where Sanfu has learned from his mishaps and manages to make it through some of his encounters. It was thanks to his training in the care and use of the gas mask that Snafu survived in the House of Toxicity, much to the ire of the deities there. But he still can't keep a secret to save his life. The last time that happened to him, Snafu ended up being torpedoed straight to Hell. Literally. As a result, The Spy has a field day trailing the Private around the Pantheon and keeping tabs on every single detail he lets slip.
    • His tendency to let secrets slip is also the reason why Snafu is banned from drinking while on duty. It's for his own good.
  • Once, Snafu took up the role of Snafuperman, only to almost bomb the White House, thinking it was Berlin, and attacking an American tank - with George S. Patton inside no less - while under the assumption it was a Japanese tank. The real Superman was not at all impressed, and agreed with the Private on looking over the maps and field manuals for later reference.
  • Despite working alongside Dr. Seuss during the war years, even adopting his rhyming speech from time to time, Sanfu's relationship with the author did become strained due to Seuss regretting how he depicted the Japanese in old political cartoons. This also extends to Seuss's own characters, with Horton the Elephant and the Lorax opposing the Private's very strong war stance.
  • Considering how most of them are personifications of naval warships from his time period, Snafu was completely confused by the Deities of Kantai Collection. For their part, the girls keep their distance from the Private, not wanting their battles to be hindered by his incompetence.
  • After ending up on a malaria-ridden mosquito's menu, Snafu has made it his goal to avoid the House of Insects at all costs. This is somewhat ironic as none of the gods there are not even mosquitos... but they still can sting and the Private doesn't want to find out if he's allergic that way.
  • He gets easily distracted by gorgeous women, resulting in almost being banned from the House of Love and Affection altogether. Luckily, Kyu Sugardust stepped in and offered to make him and Technical Fairy First Class her clients. After all, being a soldier automatically makes him more desirable for the ladies... unless they go AWOL, or are psychotic. Kyu is careful about it though; if Snafu puts her, himself, and/or her other clients into trouble, she might have to reconsider her choice. But so far, things are looking well.

  • On Good Terms With: Other Deites Who Were Trapped in Another World
  • Opposes: Neo, Kiara Sessyion, Zarya, The Radiance
  • Enemies: Chernabog, Nightmare Moon
  • Respects: Sora
  • Odd Friendship: Monika
  • Determined to help: White Face
  • Complicated Relationship with: Gwenpool, the Narrator
  • Niko is a young child who lived in small rural village with their mother. One day, they woke up in an dark, empty house, where they found a large lightbulb, and found the ability to talk with a mysterious voice. Upon stepping outside, they find out that they were transported to a dying world whose sun has died and that they need to climb a tower to put the lightbulb, the new sun, on top to save the world. However, by placing the lightbulb in the tower, Niko will be unable to go home; the only way to go home is to smash the lightbulb, dooming the world. And even if Niko returns the light, the world will still die in the future.
  • Everyone was quite surprised when INH of all people stepped up to recommend someone for a spot in the Pantheon. The higher-ups were touched by Niko's story and decided to ascend them into the Pantheon. Niko emerged out of a door of bright light on the day of their ascension, and was overjoyed to meet INH again. They were surprised to see them in the flesh instead of just hearing their voice.
    • That said, Niko's been in the Pantheon already as a "High Priest" of the Patapon tribe, though they didn't really understand it and don't remember much of that time before their ascension proper.
  • Has gained the interest of the House Of Knowledge due to their connection with the mysterious INH, but no one can seem to get a consistent answer about what their real name is. Niko seems confused about everyone calling them "INH" all the time, even though they've heard Niko say their name many times. They don't seem to realize it's always a different name.
  • Nobody knows about Niko's gender, and Niko doesn't give out any answers when questioned about it. This lead to some comparisions with Crona and Mangle, who genders are also unknown. While Niko and Crona are on cordial terms with eachother, Niko's more wary of Mangle because of their somewhat violent nature, and hopes that they could "tame" them one day, believing that their violent nature is due to their programming.
  • Despite possessing feline traits like large, glowing, slitted eyes and triangular ears, Niko insists that they are a person and not a cat because they walk on two legs. As such, Niko is bit confused by Bastet and Puck, who are cats that also walk on two legs.
  • Niko is a big fan of planes, and was estatic when they took their first plane ride with Cedric during their adventure. Miles "Tails " Prower once told Niko of his own personal plane, the Tornado, and asked Niko if they wanted to ride on it. Niko accepted the offer and had a great time riding he plane and looking down on the Pantheon.
  • Niko and Klonoa initially got off to a rocky start, as Klonoa mistook them for Janga, a malicious dream-stealer. Thankfully, Niko managed to convince Knlonoa that they aren't the same person, which made Klonoa apologize to Niko for the misunderstanding. They became good friends and related to being brought over to an alternate world to save it and being torn over about leaving it when their adventure is done.
  • Being a curious individual, Niko likes to talk to other deities about the worlds they hail from. Niko is fascinated by the wide viarety of worlds every deity hail from, but is quite saddened by the more cynical and crapsack worlds. They managed to befriend other curious deities like Eru Chitanda, Curious George and Yotsuba Koiwai, and they talk about the many things they're curious about.
  • They were very impressed when they heard about the many worlds Sora saved, though Sora humbly insists he could never have done any of that without his friends. Despite this, Niko still looks up to Sora and enjoys hearing about the worlds he visited. Niko was also fascinated with Sora's personal spaceship, the Gummiship, and wishes to ride it one day.
  • As a fellow god transported to another world she initially saw as “not real”, Gwenpool thinks of Niko as “Me, except cuter and not violent”. She sees it as a personal mission to convince Niko of how awesome the Marvel universe is. Niko is not sure what to think about her, and is uncomfortable with Gwen’s apparent apathy towards her parents from her home reality.
    • Niko also encountered many other deities who were transported to other worlds. Like Niko, The Digisdestined, Takuto and Shiki, The Magic Knights, Kazuma Satou and Naofumi Iwatani were summoned specifically to save the world from a certain plight. Niko is on cordial relations with them because of their similar experiences, and Niko is curious to know about the worlds those deities were warped to.
  • As interesting as the Pantheon is, Niko likes to spend a significant amount of time in the countryside where they found a kindred spirit in Dorothy. Niko also gets along with Ness, as they suffer from homesickness as a result of journeying far away from home.
  • Tends to disagree with Neo on rogue AI, as the World Machine in Niko's world made a Heel–Face Turn after being "tamed" and Niko believes this is possible for other machines as well. Neo thinks Niko is just naive.
    • Niko visited the Subhouse of A.I. Personalities to know about more artificial intelligences in the Pantheon, and befrended Bastion, an Omnic who was able to become a peace-loving, curious being after years of being a weapon. However, Niko encountered some truly malicious AI in the house including Love Machine, Shodan, and Samaritan, who are unrepetant in their evil deeds.
    • Niko also opposes Zarya and Kiara Sessyoin for their negative views on robots and AI; more specifically, Zarya's dislike of Omnics because of being a soldier during the Omnic Crisis, and Kiara's belief that an AI is incapable of feeling love. Niko wants to convince them that robots and AI should be given a chance and not scorned, but both disagree with their viewpoints, feeling they're too naive. Though as of late, Zarya is starting to consider Niko's words ever since her encounter with Sombra.
  • Was surprised to find out INH is a god-like being in Tiz Arrior's/Yew Genealogia's, ICEY's, and Frisk's worlds as well, and guided them in much the same way. Niko was touched when he heard that Yew managed to save INH from deleting the game's save data because of the villain's manipulations. However, Niko was shocked that in Frisk's world, INH had the choice to slaughter everyone in the Underground, which they heavily disbelieve that INH could do such horrible things.
    • Niko also met up with Stefan Butler and Stanley, who were also guided by the player on their journey, but unlike Niko, they had many paths to choose from and were much more unfortunate than them. Niko feels bad for them because of their unluckiness and lack of freedom compared to themself. Niko also realized that the Narrator that has been guiding Stanley is kinda like the World Machine, in which they're strange entities who are trying to tell a story but keep failing due to circumstances, but found out that he's more belligerent and rude than INH, which makes Niko uncomfortable.
    • However, with Monika and White Face, it's a different story; instead of being guided/controlled by INH, they were trying to communicate directly with INH. While both of them did do rather dubious deeds, Niko feels sorry for them and thinks that they're just lonely and wanting companionship. Niko eventually met Monika in the flesh, and surprisingly got along with eachother. Monika told Niko that she's feeling better than before, and Niko's happy that she's not so troubled anymore. Niko is looking to befriend White Face and become his friend even if they seem malicious at a first glance.
  • Amaterasu, Ra, Helios, Princess Celestia, and Apollo respect Niko for their role in restoring the other world's sun, and showed up to them to personally give their gratitude. Niko was floored when they found out about the existance of gods and beings who are responsible for managing the sun, and became friends with them.
    • However, this doesn't extend to the Radiance, whose awakening corrupted the land and people of Hallownest. Needless to say, Niko dislikes that the Radiance brought ruin to the world by doing the opposite of what the other world Niko was sent to was suffering from; by bringing light to the world, the world was nearly ruined.
    • On the flipside, Niko dislikes gods such as Chernabog and Nightmare Moon who deliberately want to usher the world in endless nightime, given that the disaster they were trying to avert was caused by the lack of a sun. Chernabog and Nightmare Moon also oppose Niko for ending the endless night in their world.
  • While stargazing at the House of Space and Cosmos, Niko encountered Robert Capa, and found out that he had a similar journey like them. In his world, the sun was dying, and to save it, he and his crew were sent off to space in a suicide mission to rejuvenate the sun. Niko expressed some sympathy that he couldn't survive his ordeal, but Capa told him to not worry about it, as in the end he managed to save his world. They managed to befriend eachother as they related to eachother's journey.
  • No, Niko is not Koichi Hirose in disguise, nor are they related to someone else named Ralsei. Niko's extremely confused about these bizarre rumors.
