From Left to Right: Jason Blood, Etrigan, Madame Xanadu, Frankenstein, John Constantine, Zatanna, Black Orchid, Swamp Thing, Deadman and The Creeper

Dark Justice is break off team of the Justice League, tasked with handling the more mystical threats. They were founded in 2014 (the same year as The Team), by Zatanna and John Constantine. Although they are not official A.R.G.U.S. sanctioned members of the Justice League.

In General
  • Adaptation Name Change: Instead of Justice League Dark, the team is known as Dark Justice.
  • Dark Is Not Evil: Pretty much every member of the team would on first glance appear to be more at home causing terror wherever they went, but they only save that for the real bad guys. Hell, it's in the name.
  • Fire-Forged Friends: The team appears to have softened into this.
  • Ragtag Bunch of Misfits: Emphasized and acknowledged by Xanadu. She states that all the others are dangerous to themselves and others, but are the only people around to save the world from mystic threats.
  • Supernatural Team: Every member of Dark Justice (with the exception of Bluebird, Batwoman and Katana) is in some way supernatural, either being magic users, involved with the magical community or some other part of the DC Universe divorced from scientific explanation.
  • The Team Normal: Batwoman, Bluebird, and Katana are the only non-powered members in a team full supernatural heroes.
  • Teeth-Clenched Teamwork: In the beginning, none of the group really likes or trusts any of the other members, except for Zatanna.

    John Constantine
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/john_constantine_enhanced_earth_27.jpg

John Constantine, the Hellblazer, is a working-class magician, occult detective and a golden-tongued con man. He is well-known for his scathing wit, endless cynicism, ruthless cunning and constant chain smoking. Constantine is dangerous to be around, since most of his plans and choices made without Dark Justice normally end in tragedy for the people he tries to help, but that does not stop John from trying to be a hero.

  • Abusive Parents: John's father Thomas was a complete jerk to John, both emotionally and physically abusive. He's an angry, stubborn, working class man who John admits had no idea what to do about having such an "arty-farty ponce" for a son.
  • Action Dad: He's the father of three half-demon children Adam, Maria and Saul Constantine and both the biological father of TefĂ© Holland/Sprout and Zachary Zatara.
  • Action Survivor: Constantine is sometimes drawn into situations that he had no part in or was even looking for. Without time to prepare or investigate, he is often the only one to survives. Ironically, he shares many of the listed traits of an action survivor in general.
  • And Your Little Dog, Too!: If you're ever associated with John Constantine, chances are you're already dead.
  • Annoying Younger Sibling: Actually an annoying niece, Gemma Masters, who wants to follow in her beloved uncle's footsteps. Things don't end well.
  • Anti-Hero: John, when his motivations are purely selfish. Which isn't uncommon.
  • Astral Projection: Constantine can separate his soul from his body to travel through psyches and dimensions.
  • Awesome by Analysis: Even with pressure, lack of time and preparation, Constantine can think of a strategy to defeat his enemies in a fight, letting him outwit both Heaven and Hell while striking fear into them. He's a master tactician and strategist and he can plan a strategy on the go. Although John insists he possesses no great intellect, Constantine has fought against many of the most powerful; gods and great intellectual minds and pulled off some incredible victories. It is this that makes Batman think that Constantine makes better plans then he does.
  • Badass Long Coat: Literally. After years of being worn during various mystical encounters, the damn thing's developed sentience.
  • Black Magic: John's first magic mastery. John had placed a curse on his father that caused him to waste away. Other curses which John has shown himself adept at are casting a curse on a host for vengeance, putting a curse to a gang that put them into catatonic insanity, or using a spell that traps someone between the "gaps of time". Constantine's curses are strong enough to affect demons, and he even has a spell to kill a minor demon with a glance. John also has a defensive curse that allows him to transfer any body damage and pain to his enemy in some situations.
  • Blue-Collar Warlock: The Trope Codifier.
  • Catchphrase: "Bollocks".
  • The Collector: John owns a profound collection of arcane and occult relics and tools. Most of this is kept inside a pocket dimension accessed through the Wheelhouse (the base of operations for the Dark Justice) or through red doors with a specific sigil and incantation.
  • Consummate Liar: Being a walking plot device, this is Constantine's greatest power aside from magic.
  • Deadpan Snarker: Oh yes, he always has a witty comeback or snark ready.
  • Determinator: With the use of his magical knowledge, Constantine can resist many psychic attacks such as telepathy, soul and body possession, and powerful mind controls. Constantine can even use sigils to give him even more resiliency to such things. Because he is a "Laughing Magician," John has some resistance against so-called omniscient being.
  • Did You Just Scam Cthulhu?: John's tricked a lot of Gods, Demons and spirits in his adventures and that is his signature magical trait. This allows him to make his own luck resembling probability manipulation. This is also one of the reasons how he survived for some time despite his rather poor track record and in spite of his horrible natural luck. His own children Zachary, Adam, Maria, Saul and TefĂ© would later inherit this magical trait.
  • Dreadful Musician: In his youth, Constantine was in a punk band called "Mucous Membrane" that he freely admits was terrible.
  • Enemy Summoner: John is maybe a little too good at this one. John summoned the demon Nergal to destroy a monster for him, which it did (although John lost control, due to his inexperience at the time). John can also create his own minor demons through homunculogy (or in the case of three of his children, direct procreative activity with an infernal being).
  • Expy Coexistence: Jack Carter, Arabelle Crane, Willoughby Kipling and Ambrose Bierce were all created as expies of him, and they coexist alongside Constantine. John is rather annoyed at the similarities between himself and Bierce.
  • Extra Parent Conception: The Swamp Thing used his body to father Tefe with Abby, although unlike in the comics, the possession was voluntary.
  • Fatal Flaw: His cigarettes, his addiction to thrills, his continued meddling in occult matters, his habitual lies, his drinking... well, we've got ourselves a little list, don't we?
  • Fights Like a Normal: John has won his fair share of fights (and lost a few more than that). He likes using magical weapons or fighting dirty, but always prefers to use his wits.
  • The Friend Nobody Likes: John firmly maintains this status to nearly if not all of his allies due to his deceitful behavior and tendency to screw people over for his benefit. Even notable Nice Girl types like Zatanna and Abigail Arcane end up complaining how much they genuinely hate John and don't want him around despite him helping both at various times.
  • Happily Married: He's spiritually married to Epiphany Graves.
  • Heroic Lineage: The Constantine family tree is an example. The lineage is known in history as Laughing Magicians; mortals who exist only to bluff, trick, and humiliate gods. This family existed just after the creation of gods and existence.
  • Hollywood Exorcism: John's best known specialty. John's shown himself capable of incredible feats such as when he bound, immobilized, and sealed the Hindu goddess Kali. At other times, Constantine managed to summon and bind a demon by making it physical thus rendering it powerless and vulnerable, before blasting it apart with a "holy shotgun." John also knows spells which can destroy or cast out certain gods. Constantine can also bound, seal, and control powerful elementals such as Norfulthing. He has even been able to bind the Archangel Gabriel and the Guardian of Eden.
  • I Know Your True Name: Somehow he managed to find out Satan's true name, and has exorcised him back to hell more than once, usually while Flipping the Bird.
  • In the Blood: The Constantine line consists of a long history of somewhat dodgy magic users, although John's father, sister, grandfather and uncles were Muggles.
  • Jerkass / Jerk with a Heart of Gold: John switches between the two. He can be genuinely charming, friendly and truly care about the people that get close to him, and he always regrets destroying their lives. At the same time, he is petty, selfish, manipulative and vengeful.
  • Magician Detective: John has two occupations from time to time. Magician and Occult Detective. So its a cross with both.
  • Magicians Are Wizards: Aside from being an occultist, John's also a magician, knowing stage magic and real Magick.
  • Necromancer: John doesn't use this often, but more than he probably should. He once raised a group of murder victims as ghosts to attack their murderer and can even raise a "soul-storm" to attack his enemies and wreak havoc.
  • Nephewism: Is the guardian of both his niece Gemma Masters and nephew Stanley Dover.
  • The Nicknamer: He's the one who came up with Chas and Piffy's nicknames.
  • Occult Detective: Though he usually does it out of curiosity or necessity instead of money.
  • Official Couple: He's dating Zatanna Zatara, although they have a polyamorous relationship.
  • Oop North: John's from Liverpool.
  • Perma-Stubble: He has a noticeable 5 o'clock shadow.
  • Playing with Fire: John is capable of using magic to manipulate fire. He is able to engulf his hands in flames, as well as turn the small flame from his lighter into a flamethrower.
  • Pop-Cultured Badass: Though you'd think with his past as a punk rock singer, John's favorite band is actually The Police. Funny enough, John sometimes he gets confused for that band's former lead singer instead of being the vocalist for the Mucous Membrane.
  • Really Gets Around: One could easily lose track of his exes, especially with the frequent introductions of New Old Flames. His lovers include: Zatanna Zatara, Rac Shade, Epiphany Graves, Andie Ryan, Rosacarnis, Emma (American artist), Emily Briggs, and Phoebe Clifton-Avery.
  • Significant Monogram: John Constantine and several of his ancestors and relatives.
  • Smoking Is Cool: John is rarely without a cigarette and the the most iconic images is Constantine lighting his cigarette like the page image. John's favorite brand of cigarettes are Silk Cut.
  • Trademark Favourite Cigarette: John's favorite brand of cigarettes are Silk Cut.
  • Trenchcoat Brigade: John is the Ur-Example and actually coined the term.
  • Warding Gestures: John knows how to ward essence-rich beings from entering locations, handling objects, or even being able to perceive a specific person. A more powerful version of this protection magic that John uses for defense against both supernatural and physical attacks are essence circles. His magical circles and sigils are strong enough to even block supremely powerful effects for a short duration.

    Zatanna Zatara
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/zatanna_magician_earth_27.jpg
Click for Civilian Look

The daughter of Giovanni Zatara, Zatanna is a powerful magician who casts spells by speaking backwards and works as both a stage performer and a member of the Justice League of America (presently Dark Justice). Strangely, she fell in love with JOHN CONSTANTINE and even made Dark Justice with him. She and John would have a son named Zachary.

  • Action Girl: She is a proactive hero who seeks out and combats metaphysical criminals, demons, and the normal supervillains of the DCU, using her mystical abilities to combat foes at every turn, and she has the hand-to-hand capability to protect herself when the need arises.
  • Action Mom: She and John Constantine would have son named Zachary Zatara.
  • Adaptational Nationality: Zatanna's mother Sindella is not only from Turkey, but also ethnically Turkish, making Zatanna Turkish-Italian in Earth-27.
  • Alliterative Name: Zatanna Zatara. Her middle name Zorina also counts.
  • Amazon Brigade: She's also a member of the Birds of Prey.
  • Astral Projection: Zatanna's consciousness can leave her physical body and travel to other planes of existence.
  • Badass in a Nice Suit: Her stage outfit is essentially a modified tuxedo with top hat, that is also her default uniform when engaging in hero work.
  • Battle Couple: With John Constantine. Though both are worlds apart, both make up for a Badass Magical Couple.
  • Black Magician Girl: She's a spunky young girl who uses her magic to attack.
  • By the Power of Grayskull!: Zatanna and her father Zatara speak their spells backwards.
  • Childhood Friends: She actually knew Bruce Wayne when they were children, but her magical training made them drift apart.
  • Code Name: She does not have one, she is addressed publicly and privately only as "Zatanna", her legal proper name.
  • Combat Stilettos: Almost always fights in heels, not that it's a problem for her.
  • Escape Artist: One of the DC's greatest, which is no surprise considering her profession as a stage magician and her lineage as daughter of the great wizard Zatara.
  • Functional Magic: She got her magicking from her father. It's Rule Magic, that requires the spells to be said backwards.
  • Hot Witch: Zatanna is a very beautiful and powerful female magician.
  • Improvised Weapon: Zatanna is a logomancer. That is, despite having been shown in the past using simple spell without employing her trademark Backwards speech she needs to have a clear voice to focus her powers with.
  • Kung-Fu Wizard: Zatanna is skilled in hand-to-hand combat as well as magic.
  • Lady of Black Magic: Zatanna has the magical power to defy the laws of physics and reality with a few backwards incantations.
  • Leg Focus: She wears fishnet stockings that accentuate her long, toned, yet shapely legs.
  • Magicians Are Wizards: She is a famous and wealthy stage magician with a successful show in Las Vegas, but she is also a powerful master of the mystic arts that often serves as our worlds best defense against intrusions from beyond.
  • Missing Mom: Sindella, Zatanna's mother, was presumed dead for years so Zatara raised her. Zatanna herself would become one to her own son Zachary, when she disappeared mid-act (and mid-sentence) in such a manner that it caught the entire audience off-guard and did not return to finish the show.
  • Most Common Superpower: She is a very powerful woman with a very impressive bust.
  • Official Couple: She's dating John Constantine.
  • Older Than They Look: She's 45 but appears to be in her twenties, most likely thanks to being a Homo Magi.
  • Polyamory: She's on polyamorous relationship with John Constantine, Epiphany Graves, Nicholas Nolan and Rory Regan.
  • Red Baron: Mistress of Magic and Princess of Prestidigitation.
  • Sdrawkcab Speech: Her spells work by her saying, or writing them backwards.
  • Secret Identity: She does not have one, and is publicly recognized as a practicing magician and former member of the Justice League.
  • Stage Magician: She and her father Giovanni. Both are real sorcerers pretending to be stage magicians. Zatanna in particular has considerable skill in standard sleight of hand in addition to her authentic mystical abilities, and she has quite a bit of fame and fortune stemming from her traditional performances in theaters and stadiums around the world.
  • Straw Vegetarian: Averted. Zatanna mentions once that she is a vegetarian. While she spoils the bunny she works with on stage, it's more because she's nice. It doesn't really fuel her character beyond that.
  • Stocking Filler: Her costume includes fishnet stockings. She and Dinah both have an addiction to fishnets.
  • Wide-Eyed Idealist: Why she became a stage magician and chooses to help protect people with the Justice League and other superheroes. In her own words, she views the world as a scary place and because of that she wants to show people a friendlier aspect of magic to benefit everyone, mystic and mortal alike.

    Etrigan and Jason Blood
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/etrigan_earth_27.jpg
Click for Jason Blood

Jason of the Blood was a nobleman of the 6th century Camelot during the time of King Arthur. When the wizard Merlin summoned the demon Etrigan, he bonded him to Jason as a means of containment. Though they have been bonded for centuries, the two often come to blows with each other.

  • Adaptation Species Change: Jason Blood is a Fable on Earth-27, coming from Albion in The Homelands. That said, due to being a barely known knight of King Arthur means he would be just as easy to kill as a normal human if he wasn't bonded to Etrigan.
  • Blessed with Suck: Jason is thousands of years old, has witnessed the birth and fall of nations, traveled the world, and become a future seeing sorcerer. Oh... and he is forever bonded with a destructive demon from Hell that he doesn't get along with. At all.
  • Blood Knight: Etrigan, even when he is acting as a hero on the side of the good guys, never tries to make it a secret that he enjoys fighting and general destruction.
  • Comic-Book Fantasy Casting: Jason Blood's appearance is based on Jude Law.
  • Cursed with Awesome: Jason Blood is immortal while he's bound to the Demon, and has influence over Etrigan's behavior.
  • Dark Is Not Evil: He may be a demon, but that doesn't make him any less of a good guy. Depending on how he feels at the time, really. Sometimes Etrigan will do good for the sake of good, or need coercing by Jason.
  • Demon Lords and Archdevils: Etrigan is one of the higher-ups in Hell, a son of Belial one of the three rulers of Hell. A helpful indicator of his position in the hierarchy is his rhyming.
  • Everyone Is Related: Through the many spirit siblings of his parents Belial and Ran Va Daath, Etrigan is the nephew of Lucifer, Lilith, Metatron, Empyrean and many others, making him cousin of Mazikeen, Senael and Elaine Belloc.
  • Evil Is Petty: Etrigan often does things For the Evulz, and even when he's not working for his own gain, he's likely to annoy people just cause.
  • Evil Laugh: Etrigan himself has been known to have a few evil chuckles.
  • Genius Bruiser: Etrigan is capable of going toe-to-toe with Superman, Darkseid, and Lobo and he's actually pretty smart.
  • Hellfire: Etrigan can breath this from his mouth, or fire it from his hands. It has the effect of burning his target's soul and mind.
  • Horrifying Hero: Etrigan is a demon grafted onto the soul of a knight who betrayed Camelot.
  • Locked into Strangeness: Jason Blood has a white streak in his dark red hair as a result of being the human host for the Demon Etrigan.
  • Magic Knight: Jason was a literal knight of Camelot. And he has picked up a lot of useful sorcery over his few thousand years of life. However he is more of a "sit in a mystic circle and chanting" kind of magician.
  • Noble Demon: Though not particularly noble or magnanimous himself, even when he is doing good, Etrigan is royalty, as his father is one of the three rulers of hell, making Etrigan a prince. At times when he is in the mood, Etrigan himself can recognize the good qualities of others and lend them his assistance. But it's rare to catch him in this mood.
  • Older Than They Look: Haircut aside, Jason Blood looks exactly as he did in King Arthur's time.
  • Our Demons Are Different: Etrigan's not much different from a horny devil, but pretty much every variation appears in Hell.
  • Painful Transformation: The switch between Jason and Etrigan clearly has Jason in pain.
  • Rhymes on a Dime: Etrigan's favorite way of speaking.
  • Split Personality: Sometimes.
  • Super-Strength: He's been known to be able to trade blows with folks as strong as Superman and Lobo.
  • Vitriolic Best Buds: Etrigan and Lobo are prone to physically pummeling each other as their way of saying "Hi".
  • Voluntary Shapeshifting: Toyed with. It's just as often against their will.
  • Where I Was Born and Razed: Even though it's Hell, Etrigan spent quite a lot of time terrorizing Hell as a child.

    Swamp-Thing
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/swamp_thing_earth_27.jpg

Botanist Alec Holland became the avatar of the Green, known as the Swamp Thing, following his death in a swamp as a result of a horrific accident. With the ability to control any form of plant life, Swamp-Thing uses his powers to protect both the human and the plant worlds.

  • Action Dad: He's the spiritual father of TĂ©fe Holland/Sprout.
  • Beast and Beauty: The beast to Abby's beauty.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: Despite his monstrous appearance, he really isn't that bad of a person and can be amicable if he or his family aren't harmed or threatened.
  • Elemental Embodiment: He is an embodiment and representative of the Green, the cosmic force behind all plants.
  • Gaia's Vengeance: He is Gaia's Vengeance, the representative of all living plant life.
  • Green Thumb: Obviously, and he is a good contender for the strongest case of this power in the whole DCU to the point of being called a god. His control over plant life is strong enough that he can transform the entirety of Gotham into a jungle or create entire towns down to the last detail out of plant life alone.
  • Healing Factor: He can rebuild his body out of any mass of vegetation, even if it has been completely blown up. This borders on Resurrective Immortality.
  • Horrifying Hero: He is a mass of plants assuming a vaguely humanoid form, several times taller than a regular human being and living in a Swamp. Still pretty much a good guy as long as you don't make him mad.
  • Interspecies Romance: Married to Abigail Arcane.
  • Nature Hero: He is nature, and probably the Trope Codifier of Gaia's Vengeance heroes.
  • Physical God: At the height of his powers.
  • Plant Person: Just look at the picture.
  • Super-Strength: The Swamp Thing's strength level is directly tied to his connection to the Earth. Occupying his most commonly used body, the Swamp Thing is capable of lifting volumes of mass many times greater than his own body weight.
  • Weaksauce Weakness: Pollution is highly dangerous to the plant life that makes up his body and the plant life he is connected to. By weakening The Green, one weakens the Swamp Thing.

    Madame Xanadu (Nimue Inwudu)
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/madame_xanadu_earth_27.jpg

An immortal sorceress and fortune teller who served as Merlin's apprentice thousands of years ago. She and John assembled the team to handle the threats that the regular Justice League can't.

  • Barrier Warrior: Xanadu can create magical shields over any amount of area, however the larger the shield the quicker it drains her of her magic.
  • Been There, Shaped History: Wandering the earth for centuries, she acquainted herself with many great historical figures.
  • Blind Seer: Madame Xanadu is blind in both eyes. She was magically blinded when she tried to cast a spell on Merlin. When she regained her sight, she rejoiced, only to lose it again when she tried to save a child. It seems that Nimue has never really accepted the limits of her curse, as over her long life she continued to lose her sight another dozen or so times (most recently in 1940).
  • Breaking the Fourth Wall: She is aware of existence of The Murums.
  • Cain and Abel: The Cain to Morgana/Morgaine le Fey and The Abel to Nimue/Madame Xanadu.
  • Collector of the Strange: Her parlour is full of magical books and objects.
  • Hot Gypsy Woman: As a fortune teller she's quite attractive.
  • Madame Fortune: It's right there in the title. She uses tarot cards to interpret what she senses, and is also able to tell the future of others.
  • Mage Species: She is of the Elder Folk, ancestors of the Homo Magi.
  • Occult Detective: She also has increased understanding in all things supernatural.
  • Tailor-Made Prison: She contains supernatural entities in mason jars to prevent them from causing further trouble.
  • Tarot Motifs: Madame Xanadu created the Tarot herself. She is highly skilled at tarot card reading, which she uses to determine the nature and truth of what she perceives magically.
  • Teleportation: Madame Xanadu has the ability to "disapparate". Interestingly, she can't fly, and her sister Morgana can fly but not teleport.

    Deadman (Boston Brand)
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/deadman_earth_27.jpg

After being murdered by his brother Cleveland Brand during a ritual that bestowed immortality, Boston Brand was turned into a ghost by the Hindu goddess Rama Kushna. In an effort to make amends for his past in hopes of being released from his state, the pale shade of Boston has become an unsung hero. Recently, he has teamed up with other occult persons able to see him to create the occult task force called "Dark Justice".

  • Adaptational Backstory Change: In Earth-27 his known origin as a circus acrobat is removed and different due to being obscure and felt outdated in the modern setting.
  • Adaptational Nationality: He's british here, which makes his name a Location Theme Naming.
  • Alliterative Name: Boston Brand.
  • Anti-Hero: Type II.
  • Barred from the Afterlife: Sorta. He can visit, but he's never been able to stick around.
  • Brought to You by the Letter "S": The "D" on his belly was a sigil written in his blood as part of the ritual he was killed to power.
  • Cain and Abel: The Abel to Cleveland's Cain.
  • Chivalrous Pervert: He'll do anything for a pretty face. It gets him in trouble a lot.
  • Combat Pragmatist: Possessing people leads to a lot of fun in combat. Turning his enemies against each other and suddenly taking control of weapons.
  • Death by Origin Story: Boston is murdered by his brother Cleveland as a sacrifice ritual to join the League Of Assassins as the Hook. Of course, unknown to Cleveland, Boston’s soul was unable to move on as a result of the ritual and Boston became a revenant spirit, able to possess the living and sense the presence of dark magic. In an effort to make amends for his past in hopes of being released from his state, the pale shade of Boston has become an unsung hero.
  • Demonic Possession: He's not a demon, but has the ability to possess the living to interact with people who can't see him. While doing this, he maintains full control over his selected target, and can even speak through them. A host body gifted with a particularly willful spirit however, has been known to exorcise Deadman's presence from their form.
  • Dimension Traveller: Deadman is intimately familiar with many dimensions of the afterlife and has knowledge of many of the mystical powers that interact with the living world.
  • Invisibility: He can pass through anything and everything. This is an automatic ability, and one that Deadman has no control over.
  • Invisible to Normals: Deadman is a ghost and cannot be visibly perceived by other human beings. This is an automatic ability, and one that he has no control over. Beings gifted with supernatural prowess, may be able to see Deadman's true form.
    • In general, anyone with magical abilities should be able to see and hear Boston. Also, maybe people with super sight could also find ways to see him. So... Wonder Woman, Doctor Fate, the Hawks, Superman, Power Girl, Martian Manhunter, Cyborg, Icon, and the like should all be able to see him or figure out ways to see him. For tech savvy heroes,Blue Beetle or Batman could whip up some goggles or something (if they don't have them already) to be able to see the Deadman.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: He is much more firmly entrenched in this trope than Constantine, mostly because he hates being dead and unable to touch the people he loves.
  • Mundane Utility: He possesses somebody, both because he needed to talk to someone, and because he wanted to taste a cheeseburger again.
  • Our Ghosts Are Different: There are other ghosts around, but there's only one but him.
  • Powers via Possession: Inverted. He hijacks people's bodies in order to use their powers, as the only power he has is being a dead acrobat.

    The Creeper (Jack Ryder)
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/the_creeper_earth_27.jpg
Click for Jack Ryder

A talk show host and reporter with an uncontrollable alter ego.

  • Adaptational Modesty: He wears pants instead of just a green speedo.
  • Brown Note: The Creeper's laugh can shatter anything from nerves to bones.
  • Camp Straight: The Creeper has a rather flamboyant personality and outfit, but Ryder's only dated women.
  • Crazy Enough to Work: His insanity gives him the ability to come up with bizarrely irrational but effective plans.
  • Creepy Good: The guy is so batshit loco that even The Joker considers him a lunatic! The Joker actually fears him. Let us reiterate that: THE Monster Clown of comics who terrifies millions has nightmares about this guy.
  • Fun Personified: Imagine the Joker in one of his wacky phases... as a good guy. Including the part where wackiness doesn't mean not being good at what you do.
  • Healing Factor: Which enables him to heal from virtually any wound. Indeed, gunshots and stab wounds have healed in a matter of minutes.
  • Hell Is That Noise: His laughter is depicted as this for his enemies, triggering primal fear or even inducing deep psychological problems.
  • Large Ham: He purposefully invokes this in order to terrify criminals into submission.
  • Laughing Mad: Sort of. His wild laughter made criminals extremely paranoid and nearly insane.
  • Rummage Sale Reject: His red fur jacket.
  • Slasher Smile: His trademark expression, albeit a goofier take on the trope.
  • Talkative Loon: The Creeper is not a quiet or reserved individual, as anyone who has tried to fight him will attest.
  • Terror Hero: Creeper used to pull a scare shtick by pretending he was not human, describing the horrible fates of his enemies, laughing and acting weirdly to make his enemies panic (and loving every minute of it).
  • Wall Crawl: One of his usual feats is to be able to climb buildings effortlessly.
  • You're Insane!: Almost all times when doing something with (or near) other heroes and is usually treated with "Yeah... Ain't it cool?" Also, need we remind you that the JOKER called him a lunatic?

    Black Orchid (Alba Garcia)
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/black_orchid__earth_27__commission_by_phil_cho_ddg3qs4_pre.jpg
Click for Civilian Look

A Botanical Homunculus created by Phillip Sylvain and also the "sister" of Suzy Linden, she uses her powers of disguise and persuasion to fight crime as Black Orchid.

  • Bare Midriffs Are Feminine: In her casual clothes and she's pretty girly.
  • Born as an Adult: While Suzy was born as a girl, Alba was born as an older teenager.
  • Charm Person: Black Orchid is able to use pheromones and scent manipulation to control people and alter their perceptions. Particularly, her pheromones induce sexual desires in others. Those who find Alba sexually attractive may become more pliable to her social interaction and suggestions as a result.
  • Color Character: Black Orchid.
  • Curtains Match the Windows: Has purple eyes and part of her hair is purple.
  • Green Thumb: Alba can use essence to influence plant-matter in her proximity. Using this ability, Alba can shape and manipulate plants, causing them to grow, move, or attack. She can even mutate plants into other forms by directly rearranging the plant's DNA structure through magic.
  • Mark of the Supernatural: Much like Suzy, she has purple hair at the front and black hair on the back, representing her connection to the supernatural.
  • Master of Disguise: Her main power. By rearranging her body's eukaryotic cells, Alba can alter her outward appearance in limited ways.
