Assassination Academia is a crossover series between My Hero Academia and Assassination Classroom by taetaenoway that places both Midoriya Izuku and Shinsou Hitoshi in Class 3-E at the callous Kunugigaoka Junior High for various reasons. Izuku for being quirkless and Hitoshi's unauthorised use of one.

Things change when the moon goes kaput and the Number #1 villain the Tentacle, becomes their teacher. Now they must learn to become assassins, kill the Tentacle and to save the world.

The series allows features miscellaneous scenes and one-shots that occur in the universe.

And covers a sequel covering the events series of My Hero Academia and the consequences of the events of the first instalment in the series.

Tropes include:

  • Actually Pretty Funny: Gakushuu Asano makes one that makes Hitoshi Shinsou laugh, much to his surprise.
    • Shinsou also returns this that gets both Asanos chortling. .
      Shinsou: “No problem, Uncle Asano!”
  • Adaptational Early Appearance: A few people show up early.
    • Ochako appears as a student at Kunugigaoka Junior High though in a different class than Shinsou and Midoriya and both Present Mic and Eraserhead appear at Kunugigaoka quirk exams.
    • Ashido Mina shows up at a Festival and announces she is going to defeat the Tentacle one day to Shinsou and Izuku.
    • Both Eri and Overhaul appear earlier and it is Izuku's failure to help her to descend further and be driven to use the tentacles Shiro gave him.
    • Shouto makes a minor one in a photo, Karma has of them as babies before showing up properly during the UA recommended exam.
    • And other heroes also appear near the end of the first instalment notably All Might but also including the Wild Wild Pussycats, Endeavour, Hawks, and Cementoss to name a few for the Mountain Raid.
    • In a side story in The Classified Files Karma briefly encounters Kirishima.
  • Adaptational Heroism: In this verse Irina Jelavić doesn't willingly betray Class 3-E to the Reaper. Instead, she is brainwashed thanks to the Reaper's ability
  • Adaptational Relationship Overhaul: Karasuma's entire family dynamic is this. His cousin is Mandaley and his sister is one of the deceased pair Water Hose heroes which makes Kota his nephew. Karasuma himself even went to UA, was a promising alumni at the top of his classes and was a year younger than Aizwaza who he refers as Senpai.
  • Adaptational Superpower Change: A few on account of most of the people in Assassination Classroom getting quirks due to the shared universe it is in with My Hero Academia. Korosensei and in general Yanigasawa's experiments are explictly connected to the Nomus, even sharing some of Korosensei's weaknesses like with Anti-Sensei Knives. Izuku's new powers that he inherited from Korosensei was thanks to previously having tentacles due to being experimented on by Shiro and after he recovered from that, he retained his kinetic vision.
  • Adaptational Villainy: Nagisa mother is not redeemed or atones in this.
    • The assassins on the island. The poison give to half the class is actually fatal.note  Grip even reappears in To Become A Hero as an associate with the League of Villains though to his credit does not give them any more information about END when asked.
  • Affectionate Nickname: Jolly Green is this for Izuku from Shinsou. Due to his hair reminding Shinsou of Jolly Green Bean Stock.
  • Alternate Universe: As it is a crossover. The events of Assassination Classroom takes place in the universe of My Hero Academia but before the events of My Hero Academia. Class 3-E and the rest of the cast are given quirks however, fitting the theme of 3-E are sometimes not regarded as 'strong' and with Terasaka's gang having visible mutations. Korosensei role in destroying the moon plays a major role in the universe as establishing him as the Number 1 Villain.
  • All There in the Manual: The author notes in To Save The World notes every character's quirk and change whenever notable revelations are made about quirks like Nagisa's being diagnosed and Karma's being a lie. In Chapter 5 of To Become A Hero, the code names for END are noted in the notes below.
  • Always Second Best: Defied by Karma who resents this possible moniker upon learning his relationship with the Todoroki's and even before did his damnedest the be The Ace and succeeded and still is in academia and as the commander of END. Its implied this would be enforced if he remained with the Todorokis as a child would be almost certainly stuck in Shouto's shadow as the "weaker twin."
Karma: “Oh no, looks like my quirk outmatches yours. What a turn of events, given how unpowerful or non-heroic it is — you’d probably consider me a failure, since I wouldn’t be able to beat out All-Might; but I guess that’s exactly why I can beat you.”
  • And This Is for...: Karma says this in addition to a brutal No-Holds-Barred Beatdown with Dabi after the later of which burned 3-E's building, tried to cremate numerous students and tried to kidnap Shouto.
  • Antagonistic Offspring: While not villainous, Karma's relationship is certainly antagonistic with Endeavour.
  • Armor-Piercing Response: Shouto gives a major Wham Line one that changes everything, especially Karma's attitude towards Rei abandoning him. It is so telling it shocks KARMA of all people that it renders him speechless.
Karma:“ Oh, I know what she did. She chose to keep you!
  • Armor-Piercing Question: Even prior to the Wham Line response given above. Shouto asks Karma this who still views the situation as Parental Abadonment.
Shouto: “If what you’re saying is true, and our mother really did that...is that how you see it? Do you not understand what she did for you? You have to understand, after everything that happened with Stain and our father and do you not realize what she did for you?
  • Ax-Crazy: Several characters are this. Akira Takaoka for one. Karma is also aware of this and plays into this trope to maintain a public perception after he becomes the leader of END. Often brutally takes down targets and enemies, presenting himself in a terrifying light to outsiders.
  • Awesome by Analysis: Korosensei, Izuku and Karma all have this as befitting their cannon selves.
    • In Karma's case it allows him to fake a quirk for a long time in the first instalment but also points out the poison delay with Izuku and how mostly unaffected Izuku was. He also suggests to the others at the end of To Save The World why Nezu kept Izuku in Class 1-A specifically.
    • In Izuku's he figures out the truth around his classmate's quirks like Nagisa's misdiagnosis of Misdirection, being Empathy Projection, the only one to notice the major discrepancies about Karma's so-called "Innate Capability" quirk among others. Izuku is also the lead person when it comes to establishing plans for assassination within the class including to their island trip and his own individual one that very nearly killed Korosensei.
    • You can also consider Rio Nakamura this as the best gossiper and information collector in the class and when it comes to any bet even as outlandish as it might sound, you can count on Rio winning.
  • Badass Boast: Karma gives a striking one on behalf of END.
    Karma:“You’re going to smash us?”
Karma: “That’s funny. I was planning on doing the same to you.”
  • Batman Grabs a Gun: While END do use guns and knives, they focus on paralysing and subduing their targets first rather than killing them even Karma the subject here is this. But Karma is the first and only main END member to wield actual guns and knives when push comes to shove, especially after discovering that their paralysing agents don't work on the villains' thanks to an encounter with Hitoshi which allowed them to create an antidote to counter END.
  • Best Friends-in-Law: On account of the tags spoiling the relationships between characters. But additionally with the reveal Karma is a Todoroki (Shouto's twin). With Izuku and Shouto eventually getting together will make Izuku and Karma brothers-in-law.
  • Big Damn Heroes: Class 3-E loves using this trope from the staff like Korosensei and Karasuma and the class themselves whenever their classmates are in danger.
    • In To Become A Hero END does this Class 1-A after they are attacked by League of Villains at the USJ.
  • Blatant Lies : Karma's "quirk" Inate Capability is this. When in reality, Karma is just Awesome by Analysis. Though its Justified since Karma was forced to hide aspects about himself, including his name, hair and quirk.
  • Blood Knight: Karma is certainly this. In To Become a Hero he even plays this trope up in front of Class 1-A while Sugino explains that most of END don't want to be government agents and rather have normal professions for a living. Karma contrasts that with a smile on his face and beating the crap out of a mook from the League of Villains.
  • Brain Bleach: Everyone's reaction with Hazama strips. It becomes a bit of a Running Gag in To Become A Hero.
  • Brutal Honesty: Shouto is the king of this.
Shouto: “My father hates END. He thinks you’re all a menace to society and should be locked up.”
  • Bully Magnet: Izuku is this early in the story due to being quirkless. It gets so bad that Inko manages to get him transferred to Kuniqigaoka Junior High. But even that is not enough to stop him from being discriminated against as sent to Class 3-E.
  • Bully Hunter: Karma as per his canon self but Shinsou as has shades of this and it is why he is in Class 3-E despite his grades and quirk. He used his quirk on one of the Five Virtuosos after Seo Tomoya harassed a girl and intervened.
  • Cat Fight: One takes place between Midnight and Irina/Bitch-Sensei in To Become a Hero.
  • Character Development: Izuku is notable. In To Save The World as he goes from an incredibly anxious and having no friends on account of being Quirkless to someone more confident in himself, among the best fighters and analytical minds in the class and finding True Companions with his class.
  • Chekhov's Gag: Early in To Save the World. Karma has a Bad Hair Day after Korosensei's shampoo removes his red hair dye and shows off an embarrassing hair colour. The hair colour resembles a santa hat, with mostly red hair but the tips of the hair being white. It's his actual hair colour. Turns out this is part of his Strong Family Resemblance with the Todoroki's and Foreshadowing his connections with them.
  • Chekhov's Gun: An actual gun and knife. Early on in To Become a Hero, its established Karma carries actual weaponry along with END's alternative paralysing agents. In Chapter 12, this becomes incredibly relevant again once it becomes obvious the Villains have become immune to END's weapons. Cue Karma pulling out and using actual firearms.
  • Chivalrous Pervert: Korosensei and Okajima who while may be incredibly perverted at times They still have express standards about how they hold themselves. For Korosensei between being viewed as a pervert and having Class 3-E respect, he rather have their respect. And it's how they figured out that Shiro was framing him. Averted completely with Mineta.
Even Okajima had the decency to look away when she transformed. Hell, not even Korosensei was this indecent when dealing with his perverted ways. note
  • Code Name: Too many to list here but Class 3-E gets them to protect their identities once they become government agents under END
  • Cold-Blooded Torture: Hitoshi and Bitch-sensai but mainly Hitoshi is on the receiving end of this thanks to the Reaper. Shinsou lost a tooth and still has scars all over his arms from when The Reaper pealed his skin off of.
  • Colour-Coded for Your Convenience: In-Universe this is also noted with the Rainbow Boys. Karma (Red), Izuku (Green), Nagisa (Blue) and Hitoshi (Purple)
  • Composite Character: Kayano Kaede doesn't exist in this verse and Izuku largely takes her place. This includes her arc with the tentacles and temporary death at the hands of The Reaper.
  • Connected All Along: Oh boy where to start? For one Korosensei and Shiro's experiments are connected with All for One due to the Nomu connection. And secondly it turns out Karma is a Todoroki in particular Shouto's twin that was never supposed to exist after hints surrounding the fact he was adopted, his quirk having discrepancies and his true hair colour.
  • Cool and Unusual Punishment: Karma and stuffing wasabi up people's noses. He has done it to Grip and he done it to Endeavor, his own father.
  • Convenient Coma: Hitoshi's father, Toshio is in one. Asano discovered that someone was deliberately paid to try and murder him and his wife.
  • Create Your Own Hero: In addition to All Might. All For One's inadvertent actions with Shiro's experiments has led to the creation of END, Korosensei and Izuku to become Korosenai and Hitoshi to become Zugzwang.
  • Creepy Good: Karma Akabane is this. As Agent Devil the Commander of END, he scares the pants out of outsiders on the internet, the public, Class 1-A and members of the League of Villains with his callousness and brutality. However, he is still nominally on the heroes side and often goes out of his way to help people and doesn't like seeing people hurt on his watch.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: Shigaraki's first battle with Izuku at the USJ once Izuku paralysed his left arm does not end well for him so to speak. And once Karma and Shinsou join the fray, it's basically all over.
  • Deadpan Snarker: Hitoshi is the king of this when Irina is teaching him how to use perform a Kiss of Death he responds like so.
Hitoshi: “Creative. Does that mean this is my Knife of Death and my Gun of Death?”
  • Dies Wide Open: Izuku in the penultimate chapter of To Save The World at the hands of The Reaper. He got better, though.
  • Determinator: Everyone in Class 3-E is this but special shoutout goes to Shinsou, Midoriya and Karma in particular for refusing to give in even when others oppose their goals.
  • Dragged into Drag: Hitoshi and Nagisa.
  • Drag Queen: Shinsou becomes one under the moniker "Kitty Masters" while on the island. It also noted he looks very convincing as a women. Even meeting another Drag Queen, Madame Breezy.
  • Dramatic Irony:
    • Hazama notes this and shows her immense respect towards Izuku for getting top marks in the Quirk exams (the written one and getting commendations for his actions in the offensive one) and yet as they just learned doesn't have a quirk.
    • Izuku about being called a hero by others which he doesn't think would be possible without Korosensei destroying the moon in the first place. But even that idea is ironic considering that in canon Izuku did become a hero.
Funny to think that he would never be capable of any of this — that he would never hear classmates so freely call him a hero — if it weren’t for the villain that destroyed the moon in the first place.
    • Ashido Mina shows up briefly to announce she hopes to grow up and defeat the Tentacle unbeknownst of the year deadline or that the boys she is talking to directly are involved with the largest attempts to kill him. And they eventually do.
    • Endeavour is a major opponent to END mainly due to Karma stuffing wasabi up his nose and beating him up. However, unbeknownst to Endeavour, not only is Karma a major proponent of END as Agent Devil and its main commander known as The Ace among his peers and at the top of his school achieving number one in ways Endeavor never could. Karma is also his son
  • Driven to Suicide: Par for Asano's backstory with one of his original students. But also he also did this to the man who tried to make Shinsou's parents deaths look like an accident.
Asano: "I found the man who paid the driver and destroyed his life, getting him fired from his job. He was a competing neurosurgeon, couldn’t take being bested. Drove him to suicide eventually."
  • Even the Guys Want Him: Isogai as Agent President is this. Earlier in To Become a Hero with the reputation of END at an all-time low, people still find Isogai charming and he has amassed a good following of both fangirls and boys.
  • Excellent Judge of Character: Shinsou was the one to gauge Akira Takaoka true nature almost immediately due to his experience with dodgy foster homes. Shinsou is also shown to be usually perceptive of people's true nature and whenever he does make judgements of people, they are usually quite accurate. He also notices that Overhaul is an abusive guardian to Eri from their brief encounter.
  • Five-Second Foreshadowing: Shouto is confused at what took Izuku so long and why he wasn't in the alley when Stain started attacking and later in the fight, Shouto reveals Izuku sent him a text with his location on it. Except here, Izuku never sent his location and is confused. Cue Karma from the shadows on the roof joining the fight and reveals he hacked Izuku's phone to get Shouto to the location.
  • Foil: Shinsou and Asano Sr: Both have powerful quirks related to the mind. Asano Sr allows him to gleam information about a person's life through direct eye contact whilst coming in direct conflict with one another about their ideals. It also turns out Asano Sr was best friends with Shinsou's father and knew Shinsou as a kid.
    • Shinsou is also one to Aizawa. Both desire the underground hero route but also in regards to their friendships Izuku and Obaro. While not stated by Word of God. It can be gauged that the fact The Reaper is explicitly a Nomu thus by extension Korosensei and all of Shiro's experiments, including Izuku. Izuku also died in front of Shinsou like Oboro did with Aizawa. Where they differ is Shinsou was able to save Izuku while Aizawa could not save Oboro.
    • Karma and Endeavor. Both have done great efforts and attempts to be The Ace in their respective rights. But while Endeavor has burned down a lot of bridges and goodwill within his family and overlooking his other children to pursue being Number 1 despite his powerful quirk. He is unable to achieve that. Remaining in second place. In contrast Karma has engaged in healthy relationships, worked through some of his issues and has achieved Number One in all aspects he wished to become such as Academics but also leadership as the Commander of END. Karma is even able to take down Endeavor himself on the night of the mountain raid in spite of his "non heroic" and "weak" quirk.
  • Foreshadowing: Tons.
    • For Karma and his true identity. He states early on that he is adopted and doesn't really use his surname, preferring his first name. His hair disaster in which he accidentally used a shampoo that got rid of his hair dye and displayed an unusual hair colour combination (red and white), his inconsistent usage with his quirk innate capability, which Izuku notes a few times in his notebook. On the island with Grip the temperature dropped when Grip mentioned he might have a fire quirk, his results on exams and Midoriya's general thoughts on his quirk. All this culminates when he uses his true quirk to help save Izuku and shows a picture to Izuku and Hitoshi confirming he is the youngest son of Endeavour in this series and Shouto's twin.
Izuku had an inkling suspicion there were a lot of reasons Karma’s ‘quirk’ couldn’t figure it out, and it wasn’t because of power limitations. The end-of-year exam results raised his suspicions, and this all but confirmed it.
Karma's shoulders hunched, the temperature of the room literally seeming to drop''. note
    • There is also some about Izuku and him having tentacles. On the island, despite Izuku taking drinks like the others who got sick, Izuku manages to fight it off, his general fighting abilities in general during the exams and his disconnected behaviour.
Izuku: “I...I really don’t know myself. Maybe I took a smaller dosage than everyone else? I can’t really think of any other explanation…”
He said, rubbing his arms absentmindedly. His thumb brushed over a small bump near his shoulder that refused to go away; it had been there ever since the day Shiro came back and injected him with that weird...substance….
  • Forgotten First Meeting: Karma meet Kirishima incredibly briefly in a side story in The Classified Files and Karma recommends hair dyes for him. For a while Kirishima doesn't remember Karma but knows he is familiar. In to Become a Hero this becomes incredibly relevant as Kirishima recalls does eventually recall the meeting and says so in front of everyone, including Shouto. This was the last straw for Shouto in concluding Karma was his long lost twin brother and makes it clear to Izuku he is going to confront him about it...It doesn't end well.
  • Freeze-Frame Bonus: An incredible brief but incredibly important one in Chapter 4 To Save the World that doesn't seem like anything much but plays a major role later. It is the moment where Shiro takes an interest in Izuku directly and injects him with Tentacles.
The man reached into his robes and lashed out with a thin, metal weapon. It looked suspiciously like a needle injector. It nicked Midoriya’s arm, drawing just a meer dot of blood.
  • Friendly Rivalry: Whenever Karma and Izuku find themselves on opposing sides for any reason, Karma always makes sure taking out Izuku is his first priority due to Izuku's incredible analytical skill and intelligence. The rest of the time? Karma and Izuku are easily two of the closest friends among 3-E and they firmly consider each other the epitome of True Companions. It's just that Karma pegged Izuku's intelligence as his most dangerous and impressive asset and seems to consider Izuku a friendly Worthy Opponent due to this.
  • Friends All Along: As it turns out Shinsou Hitoshi's father, Toshio and Asano Sr were best friends. In fact the car accident that led to Toshio's coma was because he and his wife were heading to an event in Asano Sr's honour, which Asano greatly regrets for not preventing.
  • Good All Along: Good is a stretch but Asano Sr is as per his canon self, surprisingly his concerns for Shinsou were masked by his antagonism and Shinsou understandably misunderstood his intentions for him. But Asano Sr plays a role in supporting Shinsou later in the story and reveals he was originally friends with his father.
  • Greater-Scope Villain: All for One is this as he was barely involved in the 1st instalment but was critical as its revealed that Shiro's/ Kotarou Yanagisawa experiments on Korosense, Itona Horibe, Izuku and The Reaper were part of the Nomu experiments. The cast are still discovering the extent of.
  • Handicapped Badass: Izuku is incredibly sick and literally dying from an illness. Izuku shouldn't even be even moving let along fight. Yet he still finds the strength to fight and defeat Takoaka.
  • Have We Met?: Bakugou despite not remembering the Slime Villain incident on account of Maehara still finds him familiar but can't place him. Maehara hands them the check and wisely ditches the conversation.
Bakugou: “Wait a minute. Don’t I know your shitty face from somewhere?”
  • Heroic Sacrifice: Izuku does this for Shinsou. He got better.
    • Karma also does this for Shouto in spite of everything they went through and gets captured by the League of Villains as a result
  • Heroic Seductress: Irina/ Bitch-Sensai plays into this and Femme Fatale on account of being an assassin but works extensively alongside heroes. Especially in the sequel. Along with the rest of the Honeypot Trio. Shinsou is a rare male example though admittedly he was almost quite literally dragged into being one.
  • Heterosexual Life-Partners: Neither Izuku nor Hitoshi are straight but both of them are incredibly close friends who maintain a close bond throughout the series.
  • History Repeats: With Izuku and his mentors. The first time Lovro and Korosensei discovered they were both mentoring Izuku, they took offence to the other. Well, Korosensei did. Later when Izuku snubs Lovro in favour of Gran Torino due to his speed. Lovro, while mostly reserved, demonstrates an element of protectiveness towards Izuku much like Korosensei had originally.
  • Home Field Advantage: Exploited By Class 3-E (END) the night of the mountain raid, where they took advantage of the heroes unfamiliarity with the area and used it to quickly take down and advance up the mountain.
  • Honey Trap: Irina/Bitch-Sensai's quirk ability. It is literally called Honeypot Trap. However it does has its limitations. It doesn't work on women and some men like Hitoshi and Karasuma (whose nose blind) and while still works it has duller effect on queer men like Karma and Izuku. For a slightly heartwarming moment it doesn't seem to work on Magne
Irina: “Only men. We women are too smart to get caught in a honeypot trap like that.”
  • If You Kill Him, You Will Be Just Like Him!: Justified As Izuku is both a minor and, most importantly, Izuku is aspiring to be a future hero. Which won't reflect well on Izuku if he gives into his bloodlust whenever he is angry on villains willy-nilly. So Izuku needs to keep himself grounded and do the right thing. Izuku is noted as well for not wanting to be an assassin even despite others telling him he would make a great one. It is telling when Karma of all people is the most vocal in telling Izuku this.
Karma: "I never took you for a bullheaded fool, Midoriya, and I don't like being proven wrong. You kill him, then you're just playing right into his game. You'll never become a hero like All-Might if you murder for the sake of vengeance. You give in to that bloodlust, and you’re no better than him.”
  • I Have My Ways: Karma when he learns that Bakugou might blab about Korosensei. Even after Maehara erases Bakugou's memories of the event. Karma still knocks him into unconsciousness.
  • Insult of Endearment: Irina's Bitch Sensei as per canon but she also gives one to Shinsou too "Shitsou." Doubles as a Stealth Pun and Meaningful Name with the pronunciation of "Shitsou" matching "Shih Tzu" the name for a breed of dog connecting with Irina's nickname being "bitch" and her tutelage of Shinsou.
  • In Spite of a Nail: Bakugou still manages to get with an altercation with Slime villain. This time however, he is saved by Korosensei, Okuda, Izuku, Karma, Nagisa, Hitoshi, Sugino and Kanzaki. The latter of which the Slime Villain originally intended to trap. Izuku still helps Ochako during an exam, though she is a student in Class 3-B at Kunugigaoka.
  • Internal Reveal:
    • Karma goes through a few of them, surprisingly. Notably when he learns that Endeavor is his father
Karma blinked, and Hitoshi’s pretty sure this was one of the few times he saw the boy look surprised. That surprise, however, was quickly replaced by a deranged bitterness.
    • Second when Shouto gave him an Armor-Piercing Response in believing their mother abandoned them and simply discarded him, when in fact it was a lot more complicated than that and Rei did it to save him.
    • Izuku also goes through one when he discovers that Korosensei "killed" Yukimura Aguri from Shiro.
    • Both Shinsou and Izuku go through one when they see Shouto for the first time, as earlier in the chapter Karma revealed he was born from a quirk marriage and showing a photo of them both as babies and due to Shouto's unique hair colour recognise him. They go through a further one when they discover Endeavour is his father.
    • Bakugou goes through one after he sees Izuku's crescent scar on his chest.
  • In the Blood: For all he can hate about Endeavor. Karma has certainly inherited many different things included his Hot-Blooded nature, having Awesome by Analysis, Elemental Hair Colors and displaying Good Is Not Nice traits to others, Karma with being a Blood Knight and Endeavor being Endeavor. Both have resent being Always Second Best though in Karma's case he does his damnedest to defy that particular label while Enji is stuck to it. Karma also shares a few sociopathic and insanity based tendencies with Dabi as well.
  • Is This a Joke?: How Class 3-E reacts upon discovering the Number 1 Villain. The Tentacle is set to teach them.
  • It's Personal: Karma states it himself that the League of Villains have made a permanent enemy with END after attacking their home base and their agents.
Karma: “It’s curious, really. I can’t fathom what could be so interesting about these two that you’d go through all of this trouble. I mean, surely you know how my agents get when it comes to silly sentimental things, yet you go and destroy our building, attack our mountain, our friends. END doesn’t kill, but I offer you no promises after tonight.”
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Karma. Particularly prominent in To Become a Hero as even despite his Blood Knight and Axe-Crazy personas he presents to the public and outsiders. He is usually among the first to remind You Are Better Than You Think You Are, encouraging Iida to be a better person after their encounter with Stain. Izuku notes to Shouto after that encounter as well that Karma hates seeing people hurt on his watch and was incredibly frustrated by it. He reminds Izuku during his fight with Takoaka he knows Izuku is more rather than resorting to murder, saves Class 1-A on multiple occasions and members of 1-B when the League of Villains attack the Mountain. And even after his vitriolic argument with Shouto in the previous chapter he makes a Heroic Sacrifice to save him and get captured instead.
  • Karmic Trickster: Karma once more.
  • Know When to Fold 'Em: Both Shinsou and Karma during the final battle between Korosensei and The Reaper as they wisly relay to the rest of the class to leave.
  • Lethal Harmless Powers: Played for Laughs, but one of the reasons Karasuma has held back on giving Class 3-E permits to allow usage of their quirks in public is due to Karma. Never mind the fact Karma's isn't exactly flashy or bombastic. Even after knowing Karma's real quirk this still applies. Everyone knows and understands no matter what quirk Karma has he can make it into this.
Karasuma: “Technically, you are all employed freelancing agents for the government, which means you are entitled to government quirk immunity. This allows you to use your quirks in public if so needed. I’ve held onto them out of fear what…some of you would do with them.”
He looked pointedly at Karma and the delinquent group, who all just grinned wickedly.
Karma: “What? I thought we proved my quirk was relatively harmless,”
'Nagisa: “Any quirk would be dangerous so long as it’s you with it, Karma.”
  • Living Emotional Crutch: Implied to be the case with Shinsou and Midoriya. Hitoshi's reaction when Izuku died exemplifies this as Izuku is the closest person he is to.
  • Living Shadow: In addition to Dark Shadow. Thanks to her quirk Hazama Kirara is this.
  • Make Me Wanna Shout: Terasaka has this in the form of a roar which he uses several times. At the Mountain Raid he even uses it to counter Present Mic.
  • Mathematician's Answer: Hitoshi says that Izuku is too kind for his own good when he mentions Irina/Bitch-Sensai isn't too bad and Izuku wonders if he means that as a compliment or an insult.
Izuku: “You shouldn’t call your teacher a bitch, even if she does act like one at times, you know. It’s not very nice.”
Hitoshi: “Sometimes, Midoriya, you can be too nice.”
Izuku:“Uh...is that supposed to be an insult or a compliment?”
    Hitoshi: Yes.
  • Manipulative Bastard: Gakuhou Asano (Shinsou even calls him that) but also Nedzu who withheld Izuku and Hitoshi applications to UA forcing them to kill the Tentacle and kept Izuku specifically in Class 1-A due to his newfound abilities thanks to Korosensei at the cost of Hitoshi being sent to Class 1-C.
  • Meaningful Name: Karma and his other names as will mention below. His original name was already fairly meaningful. Haruji which Word of God chose due to "Haru" meaning Spring which Spring having varying temperatures which fits Karma's true quirk to a tee and the familial namings of the Todorokis having seasonal/weather names. Ji meaning second/next which also fits Karma as he was born second and probably would've been regarded as such if he stayed with the Todorokis. The "Ji" part also fits with his father's name "Enji"
  • Meaningful Rename: Karma's already suited due to his nature as a Bully Hunter but even more so when considering he is the youngest of Endeavour who is presumed stillborn and dead. Karma's interactions with Enjii often serve to put him in his place as Karma acknowledges that he might never be able to be a Number One Hero due to having a "weak quirk" like Thermostat. He can still quell or boost flame/ice and defeat Endeavour.
  • Mundane Made Awesome: Also lends with Boring, but Practical but Karma's true quirk is this. Thermostat is a power that allows one to control temperature, either from hot to cold and can boost or quell to their desire. It is even implied the user themself body temperature is perfectly regulated. That's it. It's not a particularly flashy or "heroic" quirk in battle and this is even noted by the user themself. However since this is Karma we are talking about, he uses this quirk to his every advantage along with his pre-existing skills and demonstrating its true versatility and incredible practicality. He is able to handle Endeavour, Shouto, Bakugou and Dabi's quirks by nullifying them. He is able to save members of Class 1-A and 1-B when the mountain is attacked and while he can't put out the fire completely, he is able to create an area around them that is fireproof and uses it to get people out of the situation. Generally his immunity to both fire and ice users allows Karma to handle either user with ease and efficency.
  • Mundane Utility: Hitoshi often uses his quirk on Midoriya to calm him down. It comes ahead in the final chapter of To Save The World, where Izuku is at risk of accidentally injuring himself through his grief that he uses it like so.
  • My Greatest Failure: Irina discusses to Shinsou she will regret the incident with The Reaper with Shinsou's torture and getting herself brainwashed, to her grave.
  • Narrative Profanity Filter: Izuku when he first encounters Horibe Itona and Shiro.
Izuku inner thoughts What the fudging fudge is fudging going on here?! The (heavily censored) little Bakugou in his head said.
  • Never Say That Again: Shinsou to Korosensei who appears saving Bakugou from the Slime Villain who is dressed up as All Might.
Korosensei: “Never fear! Koro-Might is here!”
Shinsou "Please never do that again"
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: Shinsou fight at Hosu accidentally left a paralysing knife with the League which they used to counter END and it leaves them vulnerable to more advanced quirk users like Musclear who injuries Hayami badly.
  • Non-Action Big Bad: In-Universe an article in To Become a Hero explores this and what Korosensei's supposed singular act of villainy blowing up the moon meant. Korosensei never attacked again or hurt civilians after that. And yet that singular act of blowing up the moon made him The Dreaded.
  • No-Sell: Attacks that are have basis with fire or ice basically have no effect on Karma. Just ask Dabi.
A fiery blue blast smacked into the END commander, consuming him until only his silhouette was visible. Karma sighed loudly, partially stepping out from the flames so they highlighted his back like a hellfire cape.
  • Not Distracted by the Sexy: Justified with Hitoshi Shinsou as he is both explicitly queer and has a much more powerful brainwashing quirk than Irina's Honey Trap which is why people are usually attracted to her. In fact it's this that drives Irina into becoming his mentor, much to his dismay.
  • No-Holds-Barred Beatdown: Once Karma gets the drop on the villains, he gives an especially brutal one to Dabi.
  • Nothing Is the Same Anymore: Once the existence of Class 3-E as teenage assassins comes to life, this was already the case but paired with the Mountain Raid. In which Class 3-E took down multiple trained and respected heroes and also Endeavor and killed the In-Universe largest threat. Korosensei (The Tentacle). The public's attitude towards Class 3-E led to the creation of the Emergency National Defence (END) with Class 3-E now employed by the government. The Moutain Raid is continually felt throughout in To Become a Hero as the public has continued fears of END with both Izuku and Shinsou having significantly harder times adjusting to UA but the rest of Class 3-E having a rough times in their new schools with disapproving attitudes.
    • Additionally Shouto's confrontation with Karma is also this where they both scream their grievances out. Karma reveals he knows he is a Todoroki and Shouto in turn acknowledging Karma as his twin. But also Shouto stuns Karma with the fact that their mother Rei didn't just abandon Karma for the sake of it, but it was to save Karma from the life that was with the Todoroki family.
  • Not So Above It All: Izuku early on when it comes to joining his class in battering Irina with erasers, pencils and wads of paper. Izuku even chucks a box of flashcards screaming "DIE!" at her.
    • Karasuma is also subject to this as he is known to be The Stoic and quite collective. However he gives a variety of Class 3-E members upon becoming END outright shady code names based on his impressions of them. Agent Devil ( Karma), Tentacle (Itona), Quirk (Izuku), Snake (Nagisa), President (Isogai) and Sunshine (Kurahashi) are just some to name a few.
  • Odd Friendship: Karma and Izuku can be this at times, with Karma being a mischievous troll and bully hunter and Izuku a slightly nervous and analytical person. However, both are also friends with Shinsou and Nagisa and are The Ace in their own respective rights. Both acknowledge each other traits and quirks and make the best of them, having immense respect for each other. Izuku also challenges Karma to remind him to keep in check especially after he starts to taunt Shouto.
  • Omniglot: Irina (Bitch Sensei) and Rio Nakamura (on account of her quirk helping her instantly help with languages)
  • Outside-the-Box Tactic: Izuku does this on the offensive practical on the quirk exam. He scales the walls and starts jumping over the walls to reach the exit but stops when he sees Uraraka Ochako injured, under rubble and helps her.
  • Parental Abandonment: As it turns out Karma is subjected to this at the hands of Rei Todoroki who Karma understands wasn't under the best mental state at the time and had several reasons with wanting Karma (or Harujii his birth name) to have a normal life presumably due to the Todoroki family situation.
  • Paper-Thin Disguise: Korosensei disguise as All Might to try and fool Bakugou. It doesn't work. Thankfully Maehara is on hand.
  • Platonic Life-Partners: Shinsou and Midoriya are this despite some of the ambiguous Ship Tease moments between them. Word of God confirms are in a co-dependent Queerplatonic Relationship.
  • Polar Opposite Twins: Karma and Shouto. Karma is a Hot-Blooded, Blood Knight, Sociopathic Hero and a Troll while Shouto is more reserved, collected, Literal-Minded and Comically Serious. Their quirks both differ in power with Shouto's being evidently the more actively powerful, while Karma's is more passive dealing with tempeature. They both have a lot more similarities than they may care to admit.
  • Precision F-Strike: Shinsou has this whenever he sees a green set of tentacles emerge from his best friend's neck.
  • Properly Paranoid: Good thing Karma kept his anti-sensei knife because he was too paranoid about giving it up. It plays a big role in the USJ arc and in defeating the Nomu.
  • Reasonable Authority Figure: Bless Karasuma in particular for being this to Class 3-E He later plays an integral part when they are made into government agents under END. Korosensei in spite of his silly moments is this. Irina/Bitch-Sensei also has her moments. Later on Aizwawa and Midnight also demonstrate this.
  • Rewatch Bonus: There is a few in To Save The World:
    • When Izuku confesses to Korosensei about being quirkless for the first time, holds a lot more weight when its revealed Korosensei was also originally quirkless.
    • Several of Karma's early behaviour surrounding his quirk, his anger with his hair disaster, the brief moment before his fight with grip, Midoriya's notes about the inconsistencies with his quirk among others shed a different type of light when you remember he is a Todoroki.
    • Izuku also has a few others, especially in conjunction with him getting Tentacles from Shiro. The altercation between him and Shiro where he got injected with something, makes a lot more sense and could easily be missed the first time but is prevalent upon rewatch. As after Izuku's endurance especially on the island where he should've been incapacitated along with half of the class but manages to endure makes a lot more sense.
    • A blink and you will miss it one. When Ritsu is introduced and Korosensei programmes her with Grandmaster in chess, it is noted Shinsou plays quite a bit with her and asks for rematches every day. Rio suggests that Shinsou make his hero name Zugzwang, a term in Chess that basically means any move their opponents' might make would be to their disadvantage, which fits Shinsou's quirk and personality perfectly.
  • Rule of Symbolism: A few.
    • Karma has tons of symbolism with the many names he has gone by. Harujii, Karma, Agent Devil, Gambit. All of them link to his character, past, family, personality or quirk in some way or another as seen and already explained above.
    • Briefly Shinsou notes that Ritsu is a pawn and her creators will try and remodel her to her original self as opposed to whom he often plays chess with. He holds a pawn as he notes this. When it turns out she defies her original programming, he takes the pawn out of his pocket and back onto the chessboard.
    • The Moon. It's destruction being the main act of The Tentacle's (Korosensei) villainy and its impact in the story is felt throughout with the noticeable increase in crime. But what is important is its subsequent relation with Korosensei and the rest of 3-E as a result. With Izuku it is the most noticeable, especially considering after Korosensei saved his life, he was left with a moon-shaped scar and wears a moon with his hero costume. Upon achieving major victories. Izuku over Akira Takaoka he looks at the crescent moon and when Shinsou wins the sports festival he makes a crescent symbol which to outsiders might appear to mean 1-C Shinsou's current class, but to Shinsou it is due to Korosensei.
  • Running Gag: Izuku somehow being able to materalise his notebook out of thin air to note stuff.
  • Saying Too Much: An unintentional example that doesn't impact himself and is in Unwitting Instigator of Doom territory. Kirishima is this. Upon looking at the Yearbook, he remarks that Karma looks like Todoroki, coincidentally with Shouto in the room. But the real nail in the coffin is when Kirishima gets a "Eureka!" Moment when he remembers his Forgotten First Meeting with Karma and that he uses red hair dye. This was the last thing Shouto needed to confront Karma. Cue Karma's Rage Breaking Point and Shouto's Armor-Piercing Response.
  • Scars Are Forever: Both Shinsou and Izuku gain them in To Save The World. Hitoshi after his Cold Blood Torture with The Reaper in which parts of his skin was peeled off, especially around his arms and Izuku after he temporarily died after being saving Hitoshi from The Nomu Reaper's tentacle, even after being patched up by Korosensei. Izuku has a distinct crescent-like scar on his chest resembling the moon.
  • Searching for the Lost Relative: After the Sports Festival and Shouto reunites his mother Rei, she insists Harujii (Karma) is still alive and given Karma's unusual interactions with him, Shouto starts to pay attention and look into his background and by that chapter's end knows Karma's full name.
  • Sexy Mentor: Irina is this to Shinsou and others remembers of the so called Honeypot Trio but mainly Shinsou due to their similar power brainwashing quirks. She notably teaches Shinsou seduction techniques.
  • Ship Tease: It's not the focus on the series but there is hints towards Karma and Nagisa in To Save The World, later expanded and confirmed in The Classified Files and they are confirmed to be in a relationship by To Become a Hero. There is also moments with Shinsou foreshadowing his relationship with Kaminari due to Bitch-Sensei remarking he would find a blonde bombshell one day.
  • Shrinking Violet: Izuku was this as noted by Hitoshi early in To Save the World. He grown mostly past it by the time To Become A Hero comes up.
  • Side Bet: Several but most Rio is notable in winning them.
  • Skewed Priorities: Shinsou after being shot by Takoaka, has this to say to Izuku whose holding his hand and is doing too well either.
Shinsou: “If we die holding hands like some Titanic shit...Karma will never let me live it down."
  • Small Role, Big Impact: All for One has yet to even show in the story properly and without him the entire series would not be possible. In the first instalment while he never even showed up, and the only clue to his involvement was Shiro revealing the Reaper's new form as a Nomu at the very end. His involvement is expanded in the sequel as it is discovered he helped fund Shiro's research, which led to Korosensai and the destruction of the moon. But also the experiments conducted on Izuku and Itone Horibe, the former of which helped Izuku adapt and gain powers of superspeed and kinetic vision. The very establishment of Class 3-E/END can also be traced back to him. That's not even considering his canon actions which is a whole different discussion.
  • Spit Take: Shinsou does this with the coffee Izuku got him upon discovering the prize money is 10 billion yen split between them.
  • Stalker without a Crush: A weirdly reciprocated example. After discovering that his father is Endeavour and his brother is Shouto Todoroki, Karma follows a lot of what Shouto does and it's implied he looked into the Todoroki family background considering his interactions with Enji in the Classified Files. Karma has watched Shouto's performance during the verses battles, the USJ incident, listened to Shouto and Izuku at the Sports Festival and came out once Shouto touched a Berserk Button about quirk marriages and even contacted Shouto to come to his location under the guise of Izuku when observing Stain and Iida. However because of how obvious Karma makes it, it has caught Shouto's attention along with Izuku reprimanding his by using his first name in front of him. With just that bit of information Shouto is able to find out his full name and conduct research on Karma's background in his own time, due to believing him to be Haruji. (He's right)
  • Stern Teacher: Lovro is this to Izuku. When Izuku mentions the quirk assessment tests, Lovro bluntly tells him he won't past on account of not having one and he will have a much better chance with the physical test.
  • Take That!: A brief one to America and shady businesses.
Granted, he was American. He’s probably used to his government doing much more shady and outrageous things.
  • Team Dad: Karasuma, as per usual who keeps a constant eye and watch over Class 3-E even after they were made into government agents.
  • The Ace: Karma regarding his academics, skills, analytical genius and the fact he is the Commander of END.
  • The Dreaded: The Tentacle, The Reaper, Akabane Karma especially after he becomes an END agent with the Moniker The Devil. Class 3-E also count after the Mountain Raid, a major in-universe event and becoming government agent under END and have gained this reputation to the public. Even Class 1-A is terrified when Izuku first appears in the class apart from Bakugou (whose angry) and Shouto (who is indifferent) and can barely interact with him. Shinsou also has this problem when he is in Class 1-C.
Top Ten Scariest Things About END Published by Hero Feed: Number 4. They call him Agent Devil. He looks like the devil.
  • The Ghost: Korosensei becomes this in To Become A Hero after he dies.
  • The Nicknamer: Both Karma and Hitoshi have the tendency to do this.
    • Terasaka also have a few too. Calling Hitoshi both Turnip-Head, Blank-Face and Eggplant (Bakugou also calls Hitoshi this) and Karma, Devil-Boy.
    • Poofy for Bakugou from Hitoshi
    • Freckles (Karma), Jolly Green (Hitoshi), Broccoli-Hair (Terasaka), Deku (Bakugou) for Izuku
    • Blue’s Clues (Hitoshi ) for Nagisa
    • Icy- Hot, chosen one, First, Oni-Chan, both are given by Karma to Shouto.
  • The Reveal: A few:
    • Chapter 8 To Save The World Izuku has tentacles thanks to Shiro and has been secretly in pain for several chapters.
    • In Chapter 9, Shinsou discovers that Asano and his father Toshio were once best friends, the charity ball they were heading to was one held in Asano's honour in opening Kunugigaoka Junior High and the car crash they were in was deliberately done by someone paid to do so. In that same chapter Izuku also makes his move with the tentacles.
  • Thermal Dissonance: Karma's true quirk has the tendency to do this.
  • Through His Stomach: Both Izuku and Hitoshi do this upon becoming friends. Izuku gives Shinsou coffee every morning and Shinsou gives Midoriya some sort of dessert. They continue this tradition even after moving to UA and Shinsou has lost his job at the cafe that got him Midoriya's treats.
  • Title Card: A dark example in Chapter 11: To Fight Each Other' when Izuku is under the influence of the tentacles and determined to be a hero and kill Korosensei.
''We will take him down, the tentacles hissed. We will save the world.
  • True Companions: Even after the end of their respective series. Class 3-E or END as they are going by these days are still in touch with each, are still active friends, perform missions together and stick together through thick and thin due to their shared nature as outcasts and their love for Korosensei and each other.
    • On a smaller scale, the Rainbow Boys are this comprised of Karma, Izuku, Nagisa and Hitoshi
    • Additionally, Tersaka's gang also applies.
  • Unwitting Test Subject: As it turns out Izuku is subjected to a serum that induces tentacles against his will.
  • Villain Takes an Interest: Shiro takes one in Izuku and Shinsou to an extent in Chapter 4 after he and Izuku fought directly. He even injects Izuku with tentacles after saying this.
Shiro:“You’re surprisingly skilled, child. And your purple friend was quite perspective, having someone distract me and leave Itona on his own, exploiting the boy's dependency. You have promise…”
  • Vitriolic Best Buds: Karma and Hitoshi.
  • Weapon-Based Characterization: Shinsou's modified yoyos later puppet-style capture rings reflect his grasp and hold onto people as a puppetmaster but also his admiration for Eraserhead and his capture weapons. These puppet-style capture rings later become his signature weapons and while Shinsou is trained in others he prefers these. They can also reflect his tutelage with Korosensei and his tentacles as well as Shinsou was inspired by his fight with Itona to create them.
  • Wham Episode: A few.
    • Chapter 8: To Fail to Protect Them of To Save The World: This entire chapter is just a Trauma Conga Line for both Hitoshi and Izuku. It is revealed what really happened when Shiro temporarily kidnapped Izuku and expandsthe brief encounter with Shiro in chapter 4 jabbing Izuku with a needle which turns out to be with tentacle-like Itona due to Shiro reading his potential as 99%. Shiro elaborates on how quirks fight off tentacles which was why Itona was in such pain and how Izuku doesn't have one won't as much. Izuku suffers in silence in the meantime, with the tentacles urging him all the while. Then they encounter Eri and sadly neither Izuku nor Shinsou can do anything to help her. Eri is also associated with Mr. Matsukata preschool due to her grandfather and despite Izuku's best efforts, he can't find Eri. The Reaper kidnaps Shinsou along with Irina who isn't willingly working with him in his verse and endures Cold-Blooded Torture at his hands. shinsou lost a tooth due to The Reaper's ability and gains permanent scars from the experience. Izuku's interactions as well with his mother, Inko, while well- meaning, unintentionally cut close at Izuku's insecurities. When asked by Korosensei what he wants to be. Izuku in pain, smiles and says “I want to be a hero.”
    • Chapter 11: To Fight Each Other : Shiro tells Izuku that Korosensei killed Yukimura. Izuku makes his move attacking Korosensei with the tentacles creating a ring of fire making it seems impassable. Karma steps up and claims he can handle it and controls the temperature of the flames, revealing his true quirk which distracts Izuku for a second before allowing Shinsou an opening to make a Big Damn Kiss and let Korosensei remove the tentacles. Korosensei tells his past and along with being the best assassin in the world also reveals he was Quirkless. Izuku spends his time in the hospital recovering and also dealing with the fallout of Karma lying about his quirk. Shinsou and Izuku reconcile at the hospital as Shinsou opens up about his scars and the fact his father Toshio is in a coma to Izuku and oh yeah Asano was once his father's best friend. Izuku reckons with what it means to be a hero from both Lovro and Korosensei. Nagisa and Karma fall out over whether to save or kill Korosensei but also over their quirks. Karma with lying about his and Nagisa over potentially unintentionally manipulating them. The Class is split with Izuku and Shinsou choosing sides. Izuku suggests to Nagisa how he can win, with Shinsou and Izuku confronting one another.
    • Chapter 13: To Prepare for the End. Oh boy this chapter is that. Along with foreshadowing for the Emergency National Defence (END) in the sequel due to the actions of this chapter. The chapter opens with the class looking over pictures of the past year and talking with Korosensei directly. Then the heroes and government act with the Shield of Earth and Spear of Heaven. The World now knows about Class 3-E and the fact the Tentacle was teaching them and mob them with questions which Shinsou manages to get them away. They confront Karasuma about the situation and Class 3-E plans to raid the mountain. Public opinion changes from sympathetic to hostile towards 3-E as witnesses come up, including Inasa denouncing them. The Raid goes ahead and heroes go down like flies with the planning involved. Apart from Eraserhead who is wise to Izuku and Shinsou's tricks and they have to confront face to face and Izuku defeats him with a stun-clap and axe kicking him. They reunite with Korosensei who makes it clear this is it for him. Trying to light the mood they try and celebrate his birthday when suddenly Shiro and The Reaper crash the party. Shiro reveals his experiments on The Reaper and declares him to be a perfect soldier, a Nomu. Korosensei and The Reaper fight with The Reaper initially having the upper hand but Korosensei turning the tide of battle in his favour. Izuku fires his gun at The Reaper, drawing attention to him. Izuku is nearly killed by The Reaper's Combat Tentacles but is saved by Shinsou. Shinsou starts to fight The Reaper but unbeknownst to him a tentacle starts to sneak behind him. Izuku notices and without hesitation shoves him out of the way saving Shinsou but unable to save himself. Dying in the process.
  • Wham Line:
    • This one in Chapter 9 changes the entire dynamic between Asano and Shinsou.
The picture was of three junior high aged children standing in the front with two adults in the background. One was Principal Asano, and the other was...
    Hitoshi: “...Dad?”
    • In the same chapter another one reveals.
Asano: “I ran into a driver and was able to get a glimpse into his mind. He had just received payment to purposefully crash the car he was driving.” note
    • Chapter 11 has this.
Korosensei: I knew what happened to those God did not create equal.” note  “That’s right, boys and girls. Before I became what I am today, I was quirkless.”
    • Chapter 12 To Go Above and Beyond: One that explains why Karma was lying about his quirk.
Karma: “For all intents and purposes, I’m supposed to be dead. Who I was born as wasn’t who I was allowed to be, so my adopted parents forced me to hide aspects of myself to protect the secret of my existence. They changed my hair, changed my name. When my quirk manifested, they wanted me to say I was quirkless, but I saw a better option. My adopted father’s quirk was Innate Capability, so I knew firsthand that it wasn't particularly flashy or obvious, and it could easily be faked. So, I lied about my quirk.”
Izuku: “But...why? Why were you forced to lie so much?”
Karma: “Like I said, I wasn’t supposed to exist. Only he was.”
Shiro: “You see, my contractor decided he wanted something bigger, stronger, faster for the beast he paid me so much money to learn to create. So I came up with the perfect solution. Replace that irritating super intelligence your teacher so proudly flaunts with immeasurable power, and you have the perfect soldier. I call it: Nomu.
    • Another one in the same chapter.
    • Chapter 13 has this from reporter which sets the tone for the future and what will happen to Class 3-E.
Random Reporter “What do you have to say about the government releasing a statement claiming they plan to make your class into an elite military squad? Is it just another example of them forcing you to do things against your will?”
  • Wham Shot: Chapter 12: To Go Above and Beyond just after saying the Wham Line about why he hid his quirk. Karma shares this with a photo of two babies. One of them Karma as a young baby and while the other baby is not named it is obviously Todoroki Shouto with his half-red and half-white hair.
''The picture showed two newborn babies who looked like they had just been born moments before the photo. One baby had hair that was white on the right side and red on the left, and the other baby had red roots and white tips. Flashes from their trip to Musutafu came rushing back to Hitoshi.''
  • What Happened to the Mouse?: In-Universe conjoined with the Internal Reveal Izuku realises he and the others never realised that this entire time Yukimura was dead, thinking she might've been paid off to make way for Korosensei.
  • Worth It: Shinsou has this attitude a lot with pestering Karma. Upon Karma revealing his past Shinsou says this, knowing full well it will get him punched in the fact and doesn't regret it.
Shinsou: “I have to ask. Now that your big secret is out, are you going to start coming to school with your fancy frosted tips?”
  • Wrong Assumption: Iida comes to one in To Become A Hero with Izuku's costume. He believes its a tactic to instil fear considering Izuku helped kill Korosensei. When in actuality, it is Izuku honouring him and following his legacy.
