Old Complete Monster cleanup thread

Welcome to the new Complete Monster (CM) cleanup thread! This thread is where we clean up or cut already-existing entries.

If you're looking to add new entries, please see the approval thread.

IMPORTANT: Before you begin any discussions on this thread, please see the Frequently Asked Questions and Common Requests List. Here, you'll find explanations of the criteria for the trope as well as our rules/procedures for approving and cutting candidates.

What goes through this thread?

    Examples
  • Cut requests. If you believe a CM has been approved and they do not count, this thread is where you propose their removal. To know how to go about this, please see the FAQ folder on the Administrivia page, where the process is explained in detail.
  • If we ever need to consider cutting multiple examples without individually reviewing them (e.g. if we discover widespread plagiarism with a particular troper's CMs), the initial discussion will be on this thread and we'll then escalate to the mod team (as described here) to get a formal consensus if we decide to recommend a mass cut.
  • If an entry was put on the wrong subpage/YMMV page, you may propose where they should be moved to.
  • Full rewrites of existing entries, including expansions, trims, and ground-up rewrites. If your rewrite is approved by the thread, feel free to add it to the drafts page so that other users can check grammar and the like before it is included with the rest of the weekly swaps.
  • If an entry on a work's YMMV page doesn't match the entry on the media subpage, you can bring it here to discuss which entry works better.

What does not go through this thread?

    Examples
  • New candidate proposals - as stated before, those are done on this thread.
  • Unapproved wicks - if a Troper encounters either of these kinds of wicks, they can be cut with no approval.
    • Any CM link on a non-YMMV page - as a YMMV trope, it should not be linked on those pages regardless of any cleanup effort. The only exception is if the wick is being used within the definition of another trope.
    • If an CM link on a YMMV page refers to an unapproved character. If it refers to an approved character on any such page, the wick can stay. On the other hand, if the unapproved character being linked to sounds like they might have promise (and you don't feel like checking it out for yourself), feel free to mention it on the approval thread - someone may already know why they don't count, or it could invite a brand new discussion!
  • Proposals for images, quotes, and videos of already-approved CMs - quotes and images are proposed on the approval thread, while videos can be uploaded normally as they are screened for approval by the moderation.
  • Crosswicking examples to YMMV pages - if an example has already been approved and added to the main page, you do not require any special permission to add the example to a work's YMMV page (assuming the work has a page already). If a YMMV page doesn't exist yet, then you can make it yourself, but either way, feel free to just add the example without asking.
  • Small changes to existing entries - these can simply be done on a Troper's own prerogative with no approval.
    • Spelling and grammar fixes.
    • Pothole changes.
    • Minor rewordings.
    • Spoiler tags.

While these changes do not require any kind of approval, it is requested that should you make any of these changes, you do one of the following:

  1. Make the same changes on the relevant Sandbox page, then add the Sandbox to the list at the bottom of the drafts page. This will add the Sandbox to the weekly swaps and ensure that the edits end up on the relevant locked page. If the Sandbox is already listed, then once you make the edits, your job is already done!
  2. If you don't know how the Sandboxes work or simply don't have the time to find it, then you can simply post on the thread about the changes you made. Someone else can then make the edit on the relevant Sandbox and add it to the weekly swaps.
  3. Alternatively, you can simply request that the change be made directly to the locked page on the Locked Pages thread. Members of this thread keep track of that one, so we will ensure that the changes are made in the Sandbox so that it doesn't get deleted during the next swap.

Again, these changes don't require any approval, but we prefer to keep the entries on the YMMV pages and the locked pages the same in order to avoid any miscommunication or errors between entries, so if you do make the change, we would greatly appreciate it if you could ensure the change is made on the locked page as well.

As a final note, we do not care what other sites have to say regarding whether or not a character counts. We have our own criteria and they have theirs for their CM equivalents; while they are similar, they are not exactly the same and should not be treated as such. Another site removing a character from their equivalent should not be a reason why a cut is proposed here, and if this is the case, it will likely lead to mod intervention.

Other than this, once again, welcome to the cleanup thread, and we look forward to your contributions!

I've taken care of Lanius. Crow, mind adding it to Former Complete Monsters?

Also, potholed Cell:

  • Android Saga: Cell is a bio-android from an alternate timeline created by Dr. Gero to become the Ultimate Lifeform by absorbing Androids 17 and 18. When he discovers that the Androids of his timeline have been defeated, he kills the Future Trunks of his timeline. Cell then steals Trunks's time machine and travels back in time to complete his goal. Cell goes to town after town, devouring thousands with his tail just to increase his powers. When pursuing Android 18 and unable to find her, he begins bombing islands full of inhabitants to flush her out. Upon reaching his Perfect Form, Cell hosts the "Cell Games", promising that once he wins he will terrorize Earth before destroying it and that he would relish the expressions of fear and terror of the people he would hunt down one by one. Cell, wanting to unleash Gohan's hidden potential, begins physically and emotionally torturing the boy. He spawns the Cell Juniors to torture and kill the Z Fighters to further goad Gohan into transforming, succeeding when he callously kills Android 16 in front of Gohan. But when the fight stops going his way, Cell attempts to self-destruct and take the Earth with him out of spite, forcing Goku to perform a Heroic Sacrifice. Cell survives his suicide attempt, however, and kills Future Trunks when he returns, before firing an attack that he promises would wipe out the solar system. Cell reveals he plans to systematically wipe out all life in the universe after he's done with Earth and bring forth "perfect destruction"

Again, im here with not a cut, but proposing the tiniest of rewrites to an already existing writeup, that being the CM writeup for Lou Sr. from Love Lies Bleeding. As his full name is Lou Langston Sr (which you can confirm from a discussion the protagonist Lou has with 2 FBI agents in her gym), which the writeup does not include, I'd like to rewrite the current writeup:

  • Complete Monster: Lou Sr. puts up an act as a kindly family man, but is in truth a ruthless mobster who will discard anything he supposedly loves for his own selfish gain. Running illegal guns to and from Mexico, Lou Sr. has long murdered anyone who stood in his way, dumping their bodies in a canyon that is littered with the remains of his victims. When his daughter Lou and her lover Jackie begin meddling in his affairs, Lou Sr. manipulates a drugged-out Jackie into killing a witness before trying to murder her. Despite his seeming care for his family, Lou Sr. allows his other daughter Beth to stay trapped in a horribly abusive relationship because it's profitable; is heavily indicated to have murdered his wife when she was going to turn witness for law enforcement; and not only forced Lou to commit murder in his name, but tries to torture and kill her as well when Lou Sr. decides she is too stricken by conscience.

Slight pothole change suggestion for YMMV.Jack Ryan (2018)

Current is potholed as "The Dragon"

  • Season 2: Mateo Bastos is President Nicolas Reyes's head of security, but manages to surpass Reyes in cruelty. Participating in the bombing that led to the deaths of Senator Jim Moreno and countless others, Bastos would murder the family of a bodyguard whom his associates bribed, children included, before attempting to kill the bodyguard himself. He also captures a group of rebels and tortures them into making false confessions, and murders US soldier Matice before having his men defile Matice's corpse. He later kidnaps James Greer and tortures him at his prison camp, where he holds numerous Venezuelan political prisoners to torture and kill, including the husband of Gloria Bonalde, Reyes' main political rival. Bastos takes Greer to Reyes' mansion for further interrogation while ordering his men to execute his remaining 41 prisoners. When Greer frees himself and tries to shoot Bastos, he uses one of his own men as a Human Shield. A ruthless servant of a dictator, Mateo Bastos represents the worst of the Venezuelan regime.

I think Schlubby, Scummy Security Guard would be a more specific pothole we can use for the name.

Feels good, don't it?

I've included Lou and Bastos in the Sandboxes, as well as Cell.

  • Issue #1's "The Riddle of the Red Skull" & issue #3's "The Return of the Red Skull": The original incarnation of George Maxon, before he was retconned into a Nazi impersonator of industrialist John Maxon, is the first to bear the visage of the Red Skull and a despicably worthy precursor to Johann Schmidt's cruelty. An American agent of Schmidt's who agreed to betray his own country, Maxon sabotages planes that he then sells to the American military, callously brushing off the resulting deaths of innocent soldiers. In his spare time, Maxon assassinates military officials; threatens his goons while sending them to rob banks; and viciously hangs two thugs he believes to be Captain America and Bucky. After surviving his first confrontation with Captain America, Maxon steals plans for a drill superweapon and uses it to kill thousands in a rampage throughout New York, intent on bringing America to ruin and even cowing the Führer himself into submission.
  • Rover Red Charlie: The brutish Hermann is a former fighting dog who amassed a brutal kill streak by biting the throats out of his opponents. In the wake of humanity's extinction, Hermann kidnaps a human child before physically and mentally breaking him into submission during a long time span. Dubbing the child "shit-boy" once he fully succumbs to Hermann's abuse, the bulldog keeps the boy enslaved and further tortured for sheer pleasure, even having him lick Hermann's rear end clean among other things. Said abuse results in the child unwittingly killing himself when Rover, Red and Charlie try to save him. Surviving his own apparent death, the vengeful Hermann tracks the trio for days before kidnapping Charlie and using him as a bait to lure his companions into a trap. With full intentions of making Rover and Charlie his new abused slaves, Hermann nearly kills Red by viciously biting off one of his legs. Despite his abusive past, Hermann admits that he liked being a fighting dog and had no qualms with doing what his owners wanted, seeking thrill in emulating the very worst of human atrocities of his own volition.
  • Order of the Sword arc: Sanctus at first appears to be the benevolent leader of the Order of the Sword, but in reality is a self-righteous misanthrope who seeks exterminate all of humanity in Earth land and replace them with perfect ones. Sanctus sets the events of the arc in motion, orchestrating the escape and formation of the Neo Oracion Seis; ordering the deaths of many Celestial Wizards, including children; and tricking Fairy Tail into collecting the pieces of the Infinity Clock for their agenda. Upon revealing his true colors, Sanctus shows no remorse when disposing of his loyal subordinates in the Order of the Sword, even murdering his own loyal servant Credo in front of his childhood friends for defending his sister Kyrie from his plans, and allowing Agnus to experiment on the corpse of Sparda to aid his plans. Sanctus later reveals that he arranged the death of Lucy's father Jude Heartfilia, by giving her childhood doll Michelle/Imitatia life to act as a spy and implant a tumor in Jude's brain in order to get the clock piece he was guarding, then proceeds to callously absorb the magic from a remorseful Michelle/Imitatia. Once Sanctus uses the Infinity Clock to channel its power into the Savior, he begins to cause apocalyptic disasters across Fiore while beating Makarov to near death in front of everyone. Despite being human, Sanctus was one of the worst monsters ever faced by Dante and Fairy Tail.
  • Acceleration (2019): Jack "the Flower", Rhona's fifth target, is a human trafficker whose business practices disgusted his former partner Vladik. Valuing women as nothing but products to increase his bottom line, even owning a ledger containing his many transactions, Jack holds Rhona captive after she releases some of his prisoners, hoping to keep her around as a Sex Slave for his men and eventually sell her once they grow bored of her.
  • Immaculate: Father Sal Tedeschi paints himself as the benevolent priest of an exclusive convent, but is actually a blasphemous man obsessed with ushering in the Second Coming of Christ. A former geneticist, Tedeschi extracts DNA from a nail used during Christ's crucifixion and impregnates several nuns with the hope of cloning Jesus. After twenty years' worth of failure, Tedeschi would succeed with Sister Cecilia Jones. However, when she tries to resist, he quickly shows how little he cares about her autonomy, branding her feet with a scorching hot crucifix, a punishment he routinely does with any dissenting nun. Despite getting badly burned when Cecilia sets his laboratory on fire, Tedeschi pursues her into the catacombs and tries to slice her stomach open.
  • "Uncle" Hank is a disturbing pervert introduced in Fortune Cookie breaking a salesman into becoming his Sex Slave. Shown later working with Big Tim, Hank personally torments the women they use for prostitution, and is shown humiliating two for the pleasure of himself and a crowd of clients.
  • Twist (2021): Sikes is a ruthless criminal willing to kill even children to get a quick buck. Working as a partner to Fagin and his ring of teenage pickpockets, Sikes opens the film pushing one of the teens off a building to his death so she can steal a valuable from him. Sikes feigns innocence and continues working with Fagin to pull off a dangerous robbery, but plans the whole time to kill Fagin's crew so she can keep the wealth for herself. Forcing the underage Red to be her lover while abusing the girl, Sikes eventually takes Red as a hostage, shoots Fagin, and tries to murder all of the kids in his employ.
  • Welcome to New York (2014): George Devereaux is a wealthy, slovenly politician driven by nothing but lust. Treating women as nothing but sex objects, Devereaux has a history of abuse and harassment of any woman around him. He rapes a hotel maid who walks into his room; forcibly strips and molests a journalist after luring her to his bedroom; and manipulates a woman into sex by lying that he can boost her career. Even when he is taken to court for his crimes, Devereaux openly proclaims no remorse nor regret for any of his crimes, believing that he did nothing wrong and it is his privilege to abuse women however he sees fit.
  • Remake & Rebirth:
    • Professor Hojo is as despicable and cruel a Mad Scientist as in the Original Continuity, if not more so. Responsible for countless human experiments, including the SOLDIER program whose members eventually degrade into Sephiroth's puppets, Hojo pushed Aerith's mother, Ifalna, the last living Cetra, to such an extent that Ifalna died after escaping his lab. Undeterred, Hojo had her body recovered and dissected, rubbing this in Aerith's face years later when he captured her again, as well as suggesting his plan to forcefully breed her with SOLDIER members. Happily allowing Sephiroth to kill Shinra personnel and take Jenova's dormant body without interfering, Hojo would personally bring monsters to Costa Del Sol to merge with the Black Cloaks, endangering the whole town and once again trying to kidnap Aerith along with the rest of the party; insinuating he intended to have Tifa impregnated. He is also shown to have painfully branded Red XIII, fully knowing he is a sapient and sentient being. Determined to demonstrate to the world his genius, Hojo remains the franchise's gold standard for heartless scientists.
    • President Shinra is the leader of Midgar and the founder and head of Shinra Electric Power Company, which powers Midgar with the Mako Energy from the planet's Lifestream, with Shinra uncaring of what will happen to the planet if the energy runs out. When AVALANCHE fights back against Shinra, he has his men destroy Mako Reactors 1 and 5, endangering many lives while framing AVALANCHE for the crimes. In order to get rid of AVALANCHE for good, Shinra orders Sector 7 to be destroyed, resulting in the deaths of many innocent lives, while framing AVALANCHE and accusing them of being allies for Wutai in order to have a excuse to go to war with them. After Aerith is captured by the Turks, Shinra plans on using her to lead him to the "Promised Land", while also allowing Hojo's plan on having Aerith raped by SOLDIER members in order for her to reproduce to "mitigate the risks". Afterwards, Hojo plans on abandoning Midgar and its people and then building a new Midgar in the "Promised Land" with unlimited Mako Energy for him to rule. After the party leave Midgar, they see the scars of war from Shinra's destruction of the Republic of Junon, with the company building the city of Junon over "Under Junon", blotting out their sunlight, and building the Undersea Reactor, poisoning their waters and fish. It is also revealed prior to his death that President Shinra was conspiring with "Glen Lodbrok"—in truth Sephiroth having stolen the late Glen's identity—to trigger a war with Wutai. A cruel and vile businessman who believes that truth, justice, honor, and freedom are "vain indulgences", President Shinra will gladly kill anyone in order to achieve his own personal desires.
    • Don Corneo, the lord of Wall Market, is a ruthless Mafioso fully on board with Shinra's plan to bomb Sector 7 to oblivion with the promise of a new and improved Wall Market to reign over, and has no compunction calling himself a "villain". A sickening pervert, Corneo is known for claiming nightly brides, from willing and unwilling women alike, passing others to his men to be "enjoyed" by them. Once he is done, the women are fed to his monstrous pet Abzu, a pattern that continues for a very long time, with not even the loved ones of his own subordinates safe. Further, Corneo is a particularly cruel Loan Shark, targeting vulnerable individuals and giving out loans in exchange to shipping them off to be experimented on by Shinra.
  • "Abel & Willing": Dr. Abel Hazard is a psychologist who became obsessed with pushing the limits of human goodness after learning that Nazis forced his grandfather to kill his grandmother. Hazard would kidnap innocent couples for him to experiment on before forcing them to kill each other, or else he would kill them himself, having already done this to eleven couples in five different cities. Even when one person chose to kill herself to save her spouse, thus disproving Hazard's theory, Hazard continues his murders anyway, refusing to believe that he is wrong.
  • The Angel of Vienna, by Kate Hewitt: Dr. Jekelius is the Medical Director of the Am Steinhof Facility children's hospital. Despite being well-liked by the people of Vienna, Jekelius secretly uses the funds given by the Reich to the hospital to fuel his own greed, turning the hospital into a neglected hell house. A psychopathic man who sees all of his patients as nothing but irredeemable scum, Jekelius would create a special pavilion in his facility with the whole purpose of murdering the patients by giving them a slow, painful death, with the youngest victim being 18 months old. After murdering the nephew of nurse Hannah Stern, Dr. Jekelius is confronted by her, and proclaims that all of his actions are ending their suffering, before attempting to stop the last survivor of his massacre from escaping by sending the Gestapo to capture them, killing Hannah in the process.
  • Death in Paradise:
    • "Pilot of the Airways": Garfield Tourné, Saint Marie's most beloved television presenter and reporter, despite presenting himself as a charming, humble man of the community, is truthfully a narcissistic philandering sociopath driven only by lust and ego. Tourné regularly sexually harassed and attempted to assault the station's female runners, with him simply firing any who complained, and even attempting to assault his co-host Melanie Sparks. Discovering that Elmina Blondeau had lied about fixing the corrupted water pipes, meaning many residents were drinking contaminated water, Tourné struck a deal to bury the story and support her re-election campaign, in exchange for her authorising his latest vanity project of an entire college wing dedicated in honour of him. Discovering that Melanie was working to expose him, Tourné strangled her to death in her own home and attempted to stage it as a burglary gone wrong.
    • "Serving Up Murder": Stanley Drake, a famous celebrity chef and a successful hotelier, stands out as the least sympathetic victim ever investigated by the Honoré Police Department. Publicly presenting himself as a charming, attentive man who simply wanted to help others with their careers, behind closed doors Drake was really an abusive taskmaster and ruthless sexual predator who used his cooking contest to find young, vulnerable women for him to abuse. Thirty years previously, he raped Lucky Claybourne, traumatising her for life. Drake continued to prey upon an unknown number of victims, some as young as 19, up through the present. Looking for more publicity for his latest cooking contest, Drake tracked down Lucky, now herself a famous chef, and raped her again, then used the pictures to blackmail her into participating. The night before the contest, Drake went after his latest victim making it clear he would destroy her if she did not sleep with him.
  • The Fall Guy:
    • "License to Kill" two-parter: Salem is an international terrorist and "murderous piece of slime" responsible for over ten years of political assassinations that have terrorized half the world. Having killed many men, women, and children in the name of any cause willing to pay him, Salem is tracked down by CIA Agent Ryker while planning to assassinate the president of San Samoa. Using his mole Agent Bradshaw to frame Ryker as a criminal and kill him and anybody who could stop him, Salem even tells Bradshaw to his face that he's willing to sell him out if need be.
    • "Prisoner": Sheriff Bates, feeling that he wasn't getting a big enough salary, sets up Cell Block 6 as his own illegal prostitution ring. Having innocent women kidnapped off the street and charged for false crimes, Bates allows his guards to assault and psychologically torment the prisoners until they'll agree to do anything to leave his prison. Bates has these women flown to foreign buyers, with his latest batch about to be sold to a South American general.
  • Shavs Media Productions' "OBEY": Caine is the goofy ringmaster who runs the Digital Circus. Trapping human souls within his realm, Caine causes them to slowly lose their minds and forget who they are, leading them to forgo any and all identity, becoming feral repulsive beasts before being trapping in the cellar for the rest of time. Completely apathetic to those he has caused to abstract, Caine uses his past victims' failures to survive as a way to encourage complete subservience from his performers, while casually mentioning how they are going to be trapped in his realm for the rest of eternity. Viewing others' plight as a complete joke and having full awareness of the pain he is causing, Caine proves himself to be far worse than the well-intentioned, naive trickster that he is in canon.
  • The Demiurge, or Yaldabaoth, is a take on the Old Testament God, used to explain the Problem of Evil. A malevolent false god, Yaldabaoth is the source of humanity's sinful nature and all the misery, who takes joy in human evil, so long as he's worshiped as the Top God. Yaldabaoth created the physical realm, and humanity, as debaucherous and mindless creatures, before the higher gods took pity on them and granted them knowledge and souls, thus giving access to the true spiritual world. The materialistic Yaldabaoth would prefer to manipulate the world in wickedness, keeping humanity in the dark of the spiritual world. This puts him in direct conflict with his mother Sophia, who in some versions was destroyed by her son, with her remnants becoming humanity's souls. While Made of Evil in some versions, others are just pure evil.
  • Vol. 14: The Director of Jigsaw is the mysterious leader of a terrorist organisation which plans to destroy society and bring humanity under its rule. When the warring countries of Symkaria and Bagalia enter peace negotiations, threatening Jigsaw's profits, the Director plans to stop it and reignite the fires of war. He finances the Fearmaster to create a formula to be used in a plot by using many people in her deadly experiments. When Stephanie Garrison learns that money from the company she works for is being used to finance those experiments, the Director orders a hit on her, resulting in her and her children's death. When Joe Garrison, Stephanie's widower, learns of Jigsaw's operations in his quest for revenge, the Director kidnaps his ally Triple-A and threatens to kill her unless Joe backs down. The Director has his people infiltrate the peace conference and kill security there before unleashing the Fearmaster's formula and watching as delegates tear each other apart, throwing Symkaria and Bagalia back into war.
  • "In My Protection": Carmichael, the adult leader of a gang of child criminals, directs his gang in carrying out robbery, murder, and rape, then gives them tattoos as "trophies". After one of his boys, Thomas Gower, brutally murdered an elderly man on his orders, Carmichael sends his gang to break him out, personally beating Mr. Eagles to death. After Captain Homer Jackson and Susan Hart investigate him, Carmichael holds both of them hostage, only letting them go so they can lead him to Gower, before leading an attack on the orphanage in an attempt to eliminate the evidence against him. Always smoking a pipe before committing crimes and giving himself "trophies" for them, Carmichael was a crime lord who took pleasure in his work.
  • "Your Father My Friend": Harry Ward is a teenage pimp of young girls. Making a business of kidnapping girls, Harry would pimp them out to be raped by groups of older men, having made a good living off of this. After finding Inspector Reid's daughter Mathilda on the streets, Harry feigned kindness to her in order to lure her back to his base where he would try to rape her himself before planning on selling her to be gang-raped by a group of men. Despite his young age, Harry Ward is one of the worst criminals lurking the streets of Whitechapel.
  • The Makings of Team CRME:
    • My Name Is Cinder: Brigit Stark is Cinder Fall's mother, who married Cinder's rich and depressed father Anthony to take his wealth for herself, withholding therapy from her husband and attempting to get rid of all of their children when each was newborn in the process, all to claim the full inheritance. When a 6-year-old Cinder accidentally learns about Brigit's true colours, Brigit finds and nearly strangles her to death. Growing impatient, Brigit reveals her intentions to her husband, driving him to suicide. Physically and mentally abusing Cinder, trying to tempt her to suicide as well and turning her siblings against her, Brigit eventually fatally poisons Sterling to keep her money. A thoroughly empty, hedonistic, and irredeemable monster beneath the façade of a beautiful and dutiful wife and mother, Brigit left psychological scars in Cinder long after her death, molding her into the monster she'd become.
    • The Black Hearts: Marcus Black was a soldier who chose the job for his love of killing. After being discharged, Marcus becomes an assassin for hire. He forces his son Mercury into the trade, putting him through brutal training and forcing him to kill people. During a kill mission, Mercury notices the man has a child with him, and Marcus demands Mercury kill her. Marcus charges extra to torture the victims to death, like the way he laughingly recalls the death of Azura Michaels to her son Cobalt, who snaps and stabs his father Jaylin to death since the latter hired Marcus for the job. After his wife Melanie leaves him, a fed-up Mercury tells Marcus how much he hates him, and Marcus attacks Mercury, planning to kill him "free of charge".
  • My Neighbor Enide (link): Enide is Allie's neighbor, and at first seems like a kind and sweet woman. After Allie snuck into her house, she discovers that Enide is a Serial Killer, who kills and devours people she dates, keeping their gifts as trophies. Recently killing Pincer Chace's dad, Enide forced Allie to remain silent about everything she saw, being fully ready to kill her should she refuse or reveals anything after she got out. After Enide left, Allie discovers, in one of the endings, that her older sister Tabby was among Enide's victims.
  • Unicorn Overlord: Baltro is responsible for most of the troubles in the game by being the one who killed the Unicorn in a rite thousands of years ago, causing its curse to wipe out the ancient Zenoirans and leave their souls unable to proceed to the afterlife. Not content with this, Baltro manipulates Galerius into opening the Gate to the Beyond, intending to use the ancient Zenoiran souls as fuel for his own magic, and he disposes of Galerius the moment the latter accomplishes this. Throughout the game, Baltro commits atrocity after atrocity, such as creating the plague that ravages Cornia and Drakenhold; raising the dead of Elheim to fight against their kin; performing inhumane experiments on the bestrals; and turning Pontifex Arant into a zombie, which forced Sanatio to maintain a conspiracy to keep the Orthodoxy from collapsing. Baltro also developed the spell that allowed the Zenoiran souls to possess people and used it on several noble characters throughout the story, including Hodrick, Renault, Gloucester, Magellan, Berengaria, Railanor, and even Queen Ilenia herself.
  • Go For A Punch! Saki Sanobashi: EchoFlower, the girl named by the player, is a seemingly ordinary schoolgirl who moonlights as an online predator that convinces other girls to kill themselves and films their deaths for her pleasure. Having already done this to Kyouko Shikabane, the previous owner of the EchoFlower account, EchoFlower manipulates Hana Watanabe, Sayuri Tanaka, and Kimiko Hanazawa into agreeing to a mass suicide in an abandoned school's bathroom. EchoFlower then locks them inside with her accomplice, the titular Saki Sanobashi, to drive them mad and make their last moments painful, having Saki film their suicides as well and blaming them for their suffering. In the end, it's implied that EchoFlower leaves Saki to die as well as she gets away with it all.

Spoilers for new Manga/My Hero Academia instalment
Updating AFO description due to recent chapters
  • My Hero Academia: All For One, the “Symbol of Evil”, is a mysterious man with the power to steal Quirks. Forming an egotistical belief that everything in the world exists solely for his benefit, he killed his way through countless innocents to stockpile their Quirks while building a criminal empire to become the ultimate "Demon Lord" from the comics of his youth. Murdering his own brother Yoichi in a fit of rage for defying him, All For One soon began a century old hunt for Yoichi’s Quirk, One For All, killing every hero who opposed him. Coming into conclusion that he needs someone with stronger willpower to steal One For All, he tracks down young Tenko Shimura and steadily replaces his Quirk with Decay, leading to young Tenko accidentally killing his family before AFO grooms him into hatred-filled Tomura Shigaraki to possess his body through his quirk later one. While he put Tomura in charge of a group of powerful villain, AFO began performing experiments on children with powerful quirk to create powerful mutants, after eighth user All Might nearly killed him. While his vestige successfully takes over Tomura’s body, his original self abandons even his most loyal subordinates to perish, before nearly killing All Might in front of the world.

Couple things... isn't the manga still reserved by another troper? Also, if it's been less than two weeks, we can't post spoilers on the thread.

Firstly, it has been less than two weeks. The chapter came out today.

Second off, I very much have the manga still reserved and this is not the first time you have tried to alter AFO on your own.

An editor called F7421 has added Complete Monster to the Characters/MonsterVerseKaiju page without discussion.

* Complete Monster: He's a brutal and sadistic, sociopathic tyrant with no redeeming qualities whatsoever.
I've taken the liberty of removing it and sending a message.

Apologies for my absence from the Proposal Thread. Currently playing Dragon's Dogma II and I'm avoiding spoilers. Anyway, I wanted to address Sephiroth's entry from Final Fantasy VII: Machinabridged.

  • Complete Monster: Sephiroth is a legendary member of SOLDIER who develops a genocidal hatred for humanity after discovering the truth about his origins through the Jenova project. Marking his introduction with a bloody killing spree through the Shinra headquarters, Sephiroth stands out like a sore thumb compared to the rest of the cast, and during his burning of Nibelheim, he singles out and kills Cloud's mother just because of his fanboying over him. Seeking godhood, Sephiroth leads Cloud and the rest of Avalanche on a chase across the planet to find the Black Materia so that he can use it to summon Meteor, severely damaging the planet and then absorbing the resulting energy into himself. To ensure nothing gets in his way, Sephiroth murders Aerith in the City of the Ancients, once again rubbing it in to Cloud. Believing himself and his "mother" Jenova to be divine punishment incarnate, Sephiroth proves to not only be a shockingly dark villain for an abridged series, but also much more detestable and petty than his canon counterpart.

There's only one time in the series that Sephiroth explicitly says he killed Cloud's mother out of spite, and that's during Cloud's narration of how he remembers the Nibelheim Incident. The thing is, this was a false memory, and as such Cloud's perspective can't be relied upon. In fact, I'd say there's evidence to the contrary, considering that Sephiroth doesn't initially remember Cloud when they first meet each other in the present during Episode 14, explicitly saying, "I have no idea who you are."

I suggest a very slight rewrite that omits the part about Sephiroth singling out Cloud's mother during the massacre.

Since Steppenwolf no longer has his own page, would The Dreaded work for his incarnation from Justice League (2017)?

I have two characters to discuss from Joe R. Lansdale, one definite cut and one probable. I'll start with the definite:

  • Fine Dark Line, by Joe R. Lansdale: Mr. Chapman is the father of Stanley's best friend Richard and a fundamentalist with an obsession over "penance" who hideously abuses and tortures his family, having molded his wife into a masochistic doormat who willingly takes the abuse. Above this, Chapman is secretly a Serial Killer who employs brutal labor of minorities on his farm before slaughtering them and framing their deaths as unrelated disappearances, even being implied to murder his treasured dog to cover for himself before he attempts to kill both Stanley and Richard for unearthing the bodies.

He's a revolting son of a bitch, but I dismissed a redeeming quality long ago on my first read. Mr. Chapman has a pet dog he loves. When the mutt goes sniffing and digging at the mass grave on his property, Chapman kills it so it doesn't expose his crimes—but he's notably crying while he does it. Part of his abused son's revenge involves digging up the dead dog specifically because the kid knows that would piss him off—that's how he discovers the bodies.

So it's a shame (since, you know, he still kills the dog) but you can kill something and still feel remorse for it, so "cut" Mr. Chapman.

Watch for the sign of the Saint — he will be back!
