The next generation of Total Drama superstars. note

"Many years ago, twenty-two teenagers went to a summer camp on Wawanakwa Island, and competed with each other for ten thousand dollars. One year later, thirteen teenagers went to Wawanakwa once more and competed for a million dollars. And one year after that, fourteen teenagers went to Pahkitew Island and competed for a million dollars. Now, many of these teenagers made memories both good and bad, forged friendships, developed grudges against each other, and most importantly in this scenario, met the loves of their lives. So we contacted 16 married couples that met on Total Drama, and they each sent at least one child to our camp. (Two couples sent two of their kids.) And starting today, we’re gonna put these kids to the test to see if Total Drama superstardom runs in the family."
Chris McLean

Total Drama Legacy is a Total Drama fanfiction co-written by FlamingMercury5 and Vanessafanfictionlover. Set many years after the events of the show note, it revolves around 20 campers, all of whom are sons and daughters of past contestants, being sent to an all-new camp on Pahkitew Island to be on a new season of Total Drama and compete for a million-dollar prize. Just as their parents did, they all have to partake in challenges and are voted off one by one (with those who are voted off having to take the Dive of Shame). The show is hosted by Chris McLean, with his adoptive daughter Christina "Tina" McLean co-hosting alongside him.

The campers are divided into two teams, based on which season of the show their parents were introduced in- the Classic Cobras (consisting of the children of Island and World Tour contestants) and the Modern Mandrills (consisting of the children of Revenge of the Island and Pahkitew Island contestants). The Classic Cobras consist of Drew (son of Duncan and Courtney), Marlin and Marissa (children of Bridgette and Geoff), Emilia (daughter of Heather and Alejandro), Wayne (son of Lindsay and Tyler), Serena (daughter of Harold and Leshawna), Carter (son of Noah and Owen), Cody Jr. (son of Cody and Sierra), Katherine (daughter of Ezekiel and Izzy), and Lydia (secretly Tina McLean in disguise). The Modern Mandrills consist of Barbara (daughter of Mike and Zoey), Link (son of Sam and Dakota), Violet (daughter of Jo and Anne Maria), Storm (daughter of Lightning and Cameron), Zack (son of Shawn and Jasmine), Keith and Skave (children of Sky and Dave), Tophella (daughter of Topher and Ella), Morgan (daughter of Sugar and Leonard), and Nero (son of Max and Scarlett).

In its structure and style, Total Drama Legacy hews very close to the TV series it's a fanfiction of. Each chapter of the fic is intended to be analogous to a TV episode, even having a designated point where the theme song would play. Several staples of the series, like the outhouse confessional, the marshmallow ceremony, alliances, and dangerous challenges, are all present. However, it's considerably Lighter and Softer than its source material, with the new camp being described as more luxurious and the challenges not being as dangerous.

In the vein of Action and World Tour, Total Drama Legacy also has Aftermath episodes that feature all the eliminated competitors. However, Legacy's aftermath show is hosted by mother-and-son duo Sierra and Cody Jr. (as opposed to Bridgette and Geoff), and instead of non-competitors from the previous season, the peanut gallery is populated with the parents of all the competitors on the show.

There is a sequel currently being written, Total Drama Worldwide, which follows the cast retuning one year later (alongside Emilia's younger sister Raquel, and Katherine's younger brother Peter) traveling around the world like Total Drama; World Tour, with Cameron, Owen, and Heather as team chaperones.

Not to be confused with Legacy (Total Drama).

Total Drama Legacy contains examples of:

    open/close all folders
     A-C
  • Abnormal Ammo: In a combination of this and Shamu Fu, "Water You Gonna Do?" has the campers shoot cannons loaded with fish at sea mines.
  • Absurd Phobia: "Nothing To Fear But Fear Itself" has the campers take part in the Phobia Factor challenge from Season 1. Predictably, some of the campers have rather non-standard fears: Keith is afraid of horses, Carter is afraid of geese, Violet is afraid of fish, Link is afraid of the Mad Piano from Super Mario 64, and Storm is afraid of getting anything below a C+ on a test.
    • In "Aftermath: Double Trouble", Cody Jr. reveals that his greatest fear is the Kool-Aid Man.
  • Academic Athlete: Storm's defining character trait. A Passionate Sports Girl with a GPA of 4.0, Storm is adept both physically and mentally. This is to be expected, considering she's the daughter of Cameron and Lightning, and inherited the strengths of both of them.
  • Accent Interest: Katherine's thick Canadian accent draws attention from several characters, especially Link (who ends up becoming her Love Interest). Link often goes on about how "cute" her accent is.
Sure, Katherine just blew chunks all over my pants, but her accent is just so cute! Especially the way she says “about”. She sounds like my Call of Duty teammates trying to imitate what they think a Canadian sounds like when they find out I’m from Canada.
  • Accidental Misnaming: Wayne, like his mother Lindsay, has a tendency to get people's names wrong. Examples include calling Drew "Dirk", calling Marissa "Marcia", calling Marlin "Marvin", calling Emilia "Emily", and calling Sierra "Sarah".
  • The Ace: Storm, whose label is even "The Ace". As an Artificial Human created by Cameron using him and Lightning's DNA, Storm is blessed with Lightning's physical strength and Cameron's mental strength. In a confessional, she claims that she was "destined for greatness right out of the Uterine Replicator".
    • Broken Ace: As revealed in "Nothing To Fear But Fear Itself", because Storm grew up only knowing success, she never learned that failure is a part of life. Her greatest fear (getting a bad test grade) stems from an incident in sixth grade where she got a D on a test, and due to the reputation for intelligence she had built up around herself, others around her felt as if she had let them down.
  • Acrofatic: Serena. Despite being a pudgy girl whose usual outfit includes a pair of high heels, she's shown to be decently agile, especially when she's doing a Ninja Run.
  • Action Fashionista: Emilia. She loves fashion, and always strives to look her best; however, she's also ruthless towards her foes, and won't hesitate to kick some ass.
  • Action Girl:
    • Skave, without a doubt. She's skilled at swordsmanship, archery, and karate, and her gymnastics training has made her incredibly agile as well.
    • Storm, due to her athleticism, is incredibly tough and capable of beating anyone in a fight.
    • Emilia, who is as elegant as she is ruthless.
    • Really, every female contestant who ended up making it to the merge is this, in some capacity.
  • Actor Allusion: Several of the characters are named after the voice actors behind one of their parents.
    • Drew is named after Drew Nelson, Duncan's voice actor.
    • Katherine is named after Katie Crown, Izzy's voice actress.
    • Carter is named after Carter Hayden, Noah's voice actor.
    • Barbara is named after Barbara Mamabolo, Zoey's voice actress.
    • Zack is named after Zachary Bennett, Shawn's voice actor.
    • Three of the contestants' siblings shown in "After the Dive of Shame" share names with the voice actor of one of their parents. Katherine's brother Peter is named after Ezekiel's voice actor, Peter Oldring; Storm's brother Thunder (whose real name is Tyrone) is named after Lightning's voice actor, Tyrone Savage; and Emilia's sister Raquel is named after Heather's voice actress, Rachel Wilsonnote . In addition, Serena’s older brother Brian is named after Brian Froud, Harold’s voice actor.
  • A-Cup Angst: Katherine reveals she suffers from this in "Family Feud".
Oh, why was I cursed to be an A-cup?
  • Adaptational Nice Guy: Several Total Drama characters are much kinder in Legacy than they are in canon, presumably to show how they have matured in the many years that have passed.
    • Lightning is generally a Lovable Jock instead of the canonical Jerk Jock he was as a teenager, although flashes of his canonical persona do surface from time to time.
    • Heather and Alejandro (who played the role of Big Bad in Island and World Tour respectively) seem to genuinely care about their daughter Emilia. Heather is still shown to be judgmental and kind of a jerk, though, so she's a downplayed example.
    • Courtney is no longer the irritable Control Freak she was as a teenager and is instead a very caring mother towards Drew.
    • Sierra seems far more mentally stable than her teen self. While this can be attributed to her having reached adulthood, it can also be attributed to the fact that she's living her dream. She and Cody are Happily Married and have a son together, so she has no reason to desperately try to convince Cody to like her.
    • Ezekiel is no longer the Straw Misogynist of Season 1 and the "feral freakshow" of Seasons 3-5, and in his place is a simple farmer whose monstrous appearance belies a pure and kind heart.
  • A Death in the Limelight: Well, more like An Elimination In The Limelight. Just like in the source material, there are several episodes that focus on a specific character only to have them be eliminated. Such examples include:
    • Drew in "Campfire Emblem Awake-ening". The episode devotes a lot of focus to him, especially his Control Freak nature and low opinion of most of the others on his team. And, of course, it's also the episode where he gets eliminated, at least until "The Great Canadian Cook-Off".
    • Nero in "Wild Kat". This is the episode where he decides to make a Heel–Face Turn, completing his transition from Evil Genius to a more benevolent Gadgeteer Genius. However, it's also the episode where he gets eliminated, due to a combination of him burning down his own tent with a Homemade Flamethrower and accidentally touching Storm's breasts.
    • Marlin in "Water You Gonna Do?". This episode not only devotes quite a bit of focus to him and Carter's relationship and his relationship with his mother Bridgette (for example, in this episode, we learn that Bridgette has become a marine biologist after the events of Total Drama, owns a boat, and has raised Marlin to respect the creatures of the sea), it also has him take a leading role in the challenge, as the diver during the diving portion and the driver of the boat during the boating portion. However, when the Classic Cobras only have one fish left in their fish cannon, Marlin takes control of the cannon, sees how the fish in the cannon's barrel is suffering, and shoots it back into the water. This case of Honor Before Reason costs the Cobras the win, and results in Marlin getting eliminated.
    • Lydia/Tina in "A Shocking Twist". This episode not only contains the Internal Reveal that Lydia and Tina are the same person, it also has scenes that focus on Chris's refusal to accept his daughter is growing up and can make her own decisions, Chef's status as a Good Stepfather to Tina, and Lydia's role as Emilia's Morality Chain. However, Lydia's Hairstyle Malfunction during the dueling-stick challenge and the subsequent reveal of her true identity leads to her elimination at the end of the episode. (She still appears on the show as Tina, though.)
    • Storm in "Not-So-Perfect Storm". In this episode (which, as its title implies, is the episode where she gets eliminated), we find out that even she has something she's not good at; in her case, doing her own makeup. In addition, her rivalry with Emilia reaches its apex during this episode, and her friendship with Skave and Katherine also receives a lot of focus.
  • Affectionate Gesture to the Head: Link does this to Katherine in "Water You Gonna Do?"
  • Affectionate Nickname:
    • Serena calls Storm "Storm-chan", and Storm calls Serena "sha-baby".
    • Keith refers to Tophella as his "princess".
    • Emilia often refers to Lydia as "mi amor", which is Spanish for "my love".
    • As revealed in "A Dark and Storm-y Night", Gwen refers to Storm as "Stormie".
    • Ezekiel refers to Izzy as "my precious", a reference to Gollum's famous catchphrase (as Ezekiel's feral form is a Gollum Expy).
    • After Link and Storm ally with each other to form the "Toxic Rat Pups", Link starts referring to Storm as "Pikachu" (due to her association with lightning), and Storm starts referring to Link as "R.O.U.S." (due to his large size).
    • Carter often calls Marlin "pumpkin-pie", after his favorite kind of pie.
    • "Family Feud" reveals that several of the parents have unique pet names for their children: Lightning calls Storm "sha-honey", Owen calls Carter "dumpling", Alejandro calls Emilia "mi princesa" (Spanish for "my princess"), Izzy calls Katherine "Kitty-Kat", and Leshawna calls Serena "sugar".
    • Lightning calls his husband Cameron "Cammy" on multiple occasions.
  • A God Am I: In "A Shocking Twist", when Emilia creates her "Doom Stick", she says that in that moment, she felt like a god, ready to strike anyone with a Bolt of Divine Retribution.
  • Alliterative Family: Marlin and Marissa.
  • All There in the Manual: The labels for each of the characters can be found in the description of this drawing of them by creator FlamingMercury5.
  • Almost Kiss: Link and Katherine in "Reality Shogun".
  • Amazingly Embarrassing Parents: Sierra, to Cody Jr.
Sierra: Welcome back to the brand-new and, as my son would put it, "totally yeet" Total Drama Legacy aftermath show!
Cody Jr.: Mooooom! You’re using that word wrong! "Yeet" is not an adjective, it’s an interjection.
    • This trait of Sierra's is exemplified in "Aftermath: Blast from the Past", in which a Running Gag is old videos of Cody Jr. being shown instead of relevant clips of the contestant.
  • Amazing Technicolor Population: "Aftermath: The Next Generation" reveals that, even after regaining his humanity and reintegrating into society, Ezekiel still has green skin. This is brought up again in "Nothing To Fear But Fear Itself", where his green skin was one of the reasons that he was getting harassed at the grocery store back when his daughter Katherine was three years old (alongside his monstrous appearance and past actions).
    • Speaking of Katherine, in her feral state, she's a downplayed example. It's revealed in "The Word On the Street" that Feral Kat's skin looks green if you look at it from just the right angle.
  • Amazon Brigade: Team Easy Breezy, an alliance consisting of Storm, Serena, and Katherine that forms shortly after the merge.
  • Amazon Chaser: Serena is revealed to be one in "Aftermath: Endgame".
  • Amazonian Beauty: Storm, at least according to Serena. She's described as being very muscular, and Serena finds her extremely attractive.
  • Ambition Is Evil: Drew is incredibly driven and determined, just like his mother Courtney, and his behavior tends to be very antagonistic, especially after he comes back for the merge.
  • Amicable Exes: Even though Owen is now married to Noah and Izzy to Ezekiel, Owen and Izzy are still on good terms with each other.
  • And Call Him "George": In "Family Feud", it's revealed that Carter hugs like a boa constrictor. As his father Noah puts it:
You really need to be careful with that, or you could wind up like Lennie Small.
  • And Your Reward Is Edible:
    • The marshmallows handed out at the marshmallow ceremony, as is Total Drama tradition.
    • The reward for all three international challenges is a meal of traditional foods from that country. For the Japan challenge it's a hibachi dinner, for the UK challenge it's a British tea party, and for the Mexico challenge it's a meal of various Mexican foods.
  • Angry Chef: Chef Hatchet in "The Great Canadian Cook-Off". When he eats Link's cookies (which Link accidentally put too much salt into), he spits it out, yells at Link, grabs two pieces of bread, puts them on either side of Link's head, and makes Link admit that he's an "idiot sandwich".
  • Animal Motifs:
    • Marlin is heavily associated with fish. Not only is he named after a type of fish, he's the son of two Killer Bass, is a very good swimmer, and in "Reality Shogun", his challenge was to catch a Legendary Carp. Heck, his elimination in "Water You Gonna Do?" is caused by him freeing the fish that his team has to use as ammo.
    • Emilia is associated with snakes. Not only is she a member of the Classic Cobras, she's referred to as a "snake" multiple times by Carter. When Carter is eliminated, he even tells his fellow campers to "beware of snakes" (a Call-Back to Noah telling the other campers to "beware of eelsnote " in World Tour). In addition, many snakes prey on rats, which is reflected in how Emilia needlessly bullies both of the Toxic Rat Pups.
    • Once she and Link find out their dads were both on the Toxic Rats and form an alliance (calling themselves the "Toxic Rat Pups"), Storm becomes associated with rats. "Lab rat" and "gym rat" both end up being common derisive nicknames that Emilia uses towards Storm, and Link gives her the Affectionate Nickname "Pikachu", after the famous rodent-like Pokémon (which is also an Electric-type, tying into her association with electricity).
    • Katherine seems to be associated with cats. Not only is one of her most common nicknames "Kat", she's also revealed to be a Kindhearted Cat Lover in "Reality Shogun", and, much like a cat, she is independent, clever, and has spent most of her life indoors. In addition, her feral form acts a lot like a cat: she hisses when upset, pounces on her foes, and primarily attacks with her claws.
  • Answer Cut: In "A Shocking Twist", Skave and Storm are discussing Lydia, and Storm postulates if any of the Classic Cobras know what, exactly, Lydia is hiding, with Skave replying that at least one of them probably does. The scene then changes to focus on Emilia (the only camper that knows what Lydia is hiding).
  • Arch-Enemy:
    • Emilia, to Storm. Considering how many enemies her mother Heather made on Island, it's no surprise that Emilia would follow in her mother's footsteps.
    • Drew, to Harold. After finding out that Harold tampered with the votes to eliminate his mother Courtney on Island, Drew swears to avenge his mother, and makes it his goal to make Harold suffer- which, of course, usually involves torturing his daughter Serena.
    • By extension, after the merge, Drew and Emilia's Coalition Against Team Easy Breezy (or CATEB) is this to Team Easy Breezy.
  • Artificial Human: Storm. She was created by Cameron using an enucleated egg cell implanted with his DNA, Lightning's sperm, and a Uterine Replicator that Cameron invented.
    • As he was said to be made using the same process by which Storm was made, Storm's little brother Thunder is also this.
  • Asshole Victim:
  • As the Good Book Says...: In "She Who Lives By the Sword…" Katherine manages to use a Bible verse as a Bond One-Liner. After Emilia falls over after their fencing match and goes tumbling down a hill, breaking a lot of bones in the process, Katherine says this:
As Proverbs 16:18 states, "Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall."
  • Attack Its Weak Point: In "The Dash for the Cash", when Katherine and Skave have to fight a monster in a VR game, they initially have a hard time, since their attacks do only small amounts of damage. However, Katherine, being very clever, figures out that the way to defeat the monster is to aim for its eyes.
  • Author Appeal:
    • Most of the ships that the Total Drama Legacy kids are children of are ships that FlamingMercury5 and/or Vanessafanfictionlover are particularly fond of, especially in regard to those ships that have never, at any point, been an Official Couple. On Vanessafanfictionlover's end, these ships include Sky x Dave and Topher x Ella, while on FlamingMercury5's end, these ships include Leshawna x Harold, Sam x Dakota, Jo x Anne Maria, Lightning x Cameron, and especially Ezekiel x Izzy.
    • Many of the pop-culture references in the series are references to things either Vanessafanfictionlover or FlamingMercury5 is a huge fan of. In Vanessafanfictionlover's case, this includes Robin Hood, the Disney Animated Canon, Pixar films, and The Sims. In FlamingMercury5's case, this includes Pokémon, Star Wars, Super Mario Bros., Mega Man, JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, and Touhou Project.
  • Awesome Aussie: Zack, at least in "Did Somebody Say Pancakes?". Sadly, he gets eliminated in the next episode, so we don't get to see any more acts of toughness from him.
  • Badass Adorable:
  • Badass Biker: Drew is revealed to be a skilled motorcyclist in "Reality Shogun".
  • Badass Bookworm: Katherine, at least once she comes out of her shell.
  • Badasses Wear Bandanas: The incredibly macho Wayne wears a do-rag on his head.
  • Bandage Mummy: How Emilia ends up at the end of "She Who Lives By the Sword…"
  • Battle Royale Game: The VR game the campers have to play in "Virtual Royale-ity" is one of these.
  • Beach Episode: "Water You Gonna Do?", which has the campers take part in the challenge from "Backstabbers Ahoy!". Said challenge is aquatic-themed; as a result, all the campers are in their swimsuits.
  • Beach Kiss: Link attempts to do this to Katherine in "Reality Shogun", but it gets interrupted.
  • Bears Are Bad News: In "Wild Kat", Katherine comes face-to-face with a bear. She decides the only way to take it down is to awaken the more Izzy-like Cute and Psycho side of her that she suppressed long ago.
  • Beast and Beauty: Link and Katherine. He's a mutant colossus with a tail, and she's a kindhearted girl who loves him for who he is. Ella even compares them to Beauty and the Beast.
  • Beautiful Dreamer: During the Awake-a-thon in "Campfire Emblem Awake-ening", both Keith and Link admire their girlfriends while they are sleeping. When Tophella falls asleep in Keith's lap, Keith refers to her as his "Sleeping Beauty" and runs his fingers through her hair. And when Link discovers a sleeping Katherine, he kisses the top of her head, which wakes her up and causes her to pull him into their First Kiss.
  • Beauty Is Bad: Emilia, a Proud Beauty, is the fic's primary antagonist.
  • Bee Afraid: Emilia gets stung by a swarm of bees in "Don't Bug Me".
  • Berserk Button: Storm hates it when people touch her breasts. In "Wild Kat", Nero accidentally presses this button, and this is one of the factors that contributes to his elimination.
Just like when I’m playing softball, if I see you trying to slide into second base, I’ll get you out.
  • Beta Couple: The main three pairings in Total Drama Legacy are Link/Katherine, Emilia/Lydia, and Storm/Serena. However, Marlin/Carter and Keith/Tophella are also established romantic couples, even if they receive less focus.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: In "Not-So-Perfect Storm", Brick is shown to be the nicest and most forgiving of the three fashion-show judges, consistently giving 5's to the contestants. However, when Emilia gets angry at him for splashing her with water to keep her from overheating, he unleashes an unprecedented level of rage, and gives her a 1.
  • Beware the Quiet Ones: Katherine. Though she may seem harmless at first due to her bashful nature and background as a Hikikomori, beneath that shy exterior lies a suppressed psycho hose beast, yearning for release. And in the heat of battle, she lets out that side of her.
  • Big Bad Duumvirate: Emilia and Drew, at least after the merge.
  • Big Beautiful Man: Carter, at least according to Marlin. Seeing Carter naked was what made Marlin realize he was attracted to men.
  • Big Beautiful Woman: Much like her mother Leshawna, Serena is quite plump. However, Storm is still intensely attracted to her, and in "Water You Gonna Do?", several people comment on how "thicc" her booty is.
  • Big Creepy-Crawlies: In "Nothing To Fear But Fear Itself", Serena reveals she's afraid of centipedes, so, during the Phobia Factor challenge, she has to let an Amazonian giant centipede, the largest centipede in the world, crawl all over her. She fails.
  • Big Eater: Carter, Carter, CARTER. His label is "The Gourmand" for a reason. He loves food, and is often either eating food or talking about food. In fact, in "Did Somebody Say Pancakes?" he reveals that his eating habits have earned him the nickname "The Vacuum" at school. You can clearly tell that he's Owen's son.
    • Link is also revealed to be one in "Did Somebody Say Pancakes?". As he himself states:
    • As in canon, Sugar is shown to be this in "The Great Canadian Cook-Off". In fact, the reason she was chosen to be a judge during the cooking contest is because she loves to eat and will eat anything.
  • Big Fun: Carter, just like his father Owen. Serena is also an example, as she's a chubby girl who is sweet and kind towards just about everyone.
  • Big Little Brother: Marlin. Even though he's taller than his sister Marissa, he's actually the younger of the two. This is to be expected, as this trope is incredibly common when the older sibling is a girl and the younger sibling is a boy.
  • Big "NO!": Keith, after Tophella gets eliminated.
    • Emilia also delivers one when she realizes her face has been scarred in "She Who Lives By The Sword…"
  • Big Sister Bully: Emilia is revealed to be one to her sister Raquel in "After the Dive of Shame". Though, to be fair, Raquel bullies her too.
  • Big "WHAT?!":
    • Serena's catchphrase is the Japanese word for "What?" ("Nani?"), which is occasionally shouted.
    • There's also Storm's "Sha-WHAT?", which she exclaims twice during "Campfire Emblem Awake-ening": once when Emilia says she hates Storm, and again when Serena rests her head on Storm's sha-boobies.
    • Another example from "Campfire Emblem Awake-ening" is Drew's exclamation when he gets eliminated.
    • Marissa also delivers one when she's eliminated in "Shut Up and Drive".
    • Link and Katherine also deliver one in unison when Link is eliminated in "The Great Canadian Cook-Off".
    • Carter delivers one when he gets disqualified at the end of "Don't Bug Me".
  • Bilingual Bonus:
    • In "Reality Shogun", Chef dresses up as a geisha and is referred to by Chris as "Ryourijin-san". Ryourijin (料理人) is the Japanese word for "cook" or "chef".
    • Similarly, in "Mi Cabaña Es Su Cabaña", Chef dresses up as a Masked Luchador and is referred to as "El Cocinero", which is Spanish for "the chef".
    • In "Shut Up And Drive", Skave's helmet has the character "花" on it. In Japanese, this character is read as "hana"- and, as revealed in "Here Come The Sons... And Daughters", Skave's real name is Hana.
  • Birds of a Feather:
    • In "Did Somebody Say Pancakes?" Link finds out that Katherine, his crush, also likes video games, which makes him love her even more.
    • In "Campfire Emblem Awake-ening", Storm and Serena bond over a shared interest in anime, which sets the stage for them to become an Official Couple in "A Dark and Storm-y Night".
  • Bitch Alert: Just like her mother Heather (who provides the trope picture), when Emilia arrives on Pahkitew Island, she does it in a way that foreshadows her ruthless nature.
Then, suddenly, all eyes were drawn towards a certain black-haired girl wearing a red ruffled top and black shorts, as she landed ominously. "Emilia!" Chris exclaimed. "I’d recognize a daughter of Heather anywhere."
  • Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: Drew. At first he appears to be an upstanding Princely Young Man, but he eventually reveals himself to be a dictatorial Control Freak with a Hair-Trigger Temper.
  • Black and Nerdy:
    • Serena, a half-Black Occidental Otaku.
    • Storm is Black, and is one of the most intelligent campers, if not the most intelligent. "Campfire Emblem Awake-ening" also reveals that she's a big fan of superheroesnote  and watches anime.
  • Black Bra and Panties: Invoked with Emilia’s swimwear- a black bikini. Since Emilia is a Proud Beauty and a Femme Fatale, the fact that her swimwear invokes this is very fitting, as this trope is often associated with beautiful but dangerous women.
  • Blind Without 'Em: Link, as revealed in "The Great Canadian Cook-Off". Without the aid of his Nerd Glasses, everything is blurry to him, and he's completely illiterate. Emilia uses this to her advantage in order to get revenge on him for uncovering Lydia's secret; while he's sleeping, she steals his glasses and hides them in her cabin. Fortunately, at the end of the day, Katherine finds his glasses and returns them to him, but unfortunately, he had already failed miserably at the cooking challenge due to being unable to read anything.
  • Blunt Metaphors Trauma: In "A Dark and Storm-y Night", Wayne describes himself as "not the sharpest bulb in the drawer".
  • Boob-Based Gag: Storm. In "Campfire Emblem Awake-ening", it's revealed she has large breasts, and from then on, her "sha-boobies" (as she calls them) are used as a frequent source of comedy. For example:
    • In the aforementioned "Campfire Emblem Awake-ening", Serena falls asleep cuddling Storm, and dreams that she's on a date with Momo Yaoyorozu. Dreaming that Storm is Momo, Serena rests her head on her "bountiful bosom"… causing Storm to react with surprise and Serena to jolt back awake.
    • In "Wild Kat", when Storm complains about not having enough room in their tent, Link says "Calm your ta-tas, Storm."
    • Also in "Wild Kat", Nero enrages Storm by accidentally touching her breasts.
    • In "Water You Gonna Do?", Jo calls Storm "Knockers".
    • In "Don't Bug Me", Emilia glares at Storm and says "Look at her, with her loving girlfriend who’s still in the game and her strong alliance and her jugs that are way bigger than mine."
    • And finally, in "Aftermath: Endgame", Serena says Storm has "big muscles and big oppai".
  • Bookworm: Katherine. Her love of reading books is mentioned on many occasions. Since she was too scared to leave her house for most of her life, she spent most of her time reading.
  • Borrowed Catchphrase: Serena uses her father Harold's catchphrase, "Gosh!", on several occasions.
    • Carter also uses his father Owen's catchphrase, "Awesome!", occasionally.
    • A more hostile example occurs in "Did Somebody Say Pancakes?". After Cody Jr. (who grew up watching reruns of Total Drama) learns he's getting eliminated, he gets in one last bit of shade towards Katherine (whose father, Ezekiel, is the only contestant to be booted first on two occasions, and who shares Ezekiel's thick Canadian accent and "eh" Verbal Tic).
Well, at least I didn’t get eliminated first, right? That would really suck, EH?
    • And, of course, in "A Shocking Twist", Storm borrows her father Lightning's catchphrase ("Sha-bam!") when she unleashes the Thundercrack Fist on Emilia. Everyone say it with me now...
  • Boyfriend-Blocking Dad:
    • Topher. He is very protective of his daughter Tophella, and strongly disapproves of her boyfriend Keith. The reason why is because Keith's father, Dave, broke Ella's heart long ago, and because Ella is now Topher's wife, Topher hates him on her behalf, and doesn't want Tophella's heart to be broken the same way Ella's was.
    • Lightning. In "Aftermath: Blast from the Past", when Nero steps onto the aftermath stage, Lightning recognizes him as the boy who touched his daughter's breasts, and, with an intense expression and some Knuckle Cracking, reminds Nero that he could kill a shrimp like him with his bare hands.
  • Boyish Short Hair: Tomboyish Storm is described as having "short curly hair".
  • Braids of Action: Emilia wears her hair in a long braid, and is shown to be ruthless towards her foes. Subverted in that she cuts off her braid in "A Shocking Twist".
  • Brainy Brunette: Katherine, a brown-haired Cute Bookworm who speaks 5 languages and knows several facts due to all the books she has read.
  • Break the Haughty: The ruthless Proud Beauty Emilia gets taken down several pegs in the episodes leading up to her elimination: her beautiful face gets stung by bees in "Don't Bug Me", she gets booted first in "The Word On the Street", she gets yelled at by Brick and beat up by Skave in "Not-So-Perfect Storm", and she gets her beautiful face permanently scarred and finally gets eliminated in "She Who Lives By the Sword...".
  • Breather Episode: The Aftermath episodes, which occur once every six episodes, take place outside of the main competition, and revolve around Cody Jr. and Sierra interviewing the recently eliminated contestants, with the parents of all of the contestants commenting on what's happening in the Parental Peanut Gallery.
    • Aside from the aftermath show, there's also the two non-elimination episodes, "Mi Cabaña Es Su Cabaña" and "After the Dive of Shame".
  • Brick Break: Skave's challenge in "Reality Shogun" involves breaking a board.
  • Brick Joke: Anne Maria's letter. Jo gives it to Katherine in "Water You Gonna Do?", telling her that it's for her father Ezekiel. However, we don't find out what it says until "Family Feud", where it's revealed to be an incredibly Strongly Worded Letter filled with profanities.
  • Bridal Carry: Lightning does this to Cameron in "Family Feud", as an indicator of just how Happily Married they are.
  • Brief Accent Imitation: Link imitates Katherine's thick Canadian accent during one of his confessionals in "Shut Up and Drive".
Oh, I just LOVE the way Katherine says the word “sorry”. It’s adorable. (imitating Katherine) “Oh, I’m soo-ry!”
  • Briefcase Full of Money: How the prize money is delivered, as is Total Drama tradition.
  • Brits Love Tea: The reward for the British-themed challenge in "Cruel Britannia" is a tea party.
  • Brother–Sister Team: Skave and Keith.
  • Brown Bag Mask: Emilia wears one after her face gets stung by bees in "Don't Bug Me".
  • Buffy Speak: A Running Gag involving Wayne is him listing a series of things, forgetting the name of the last thing, and trying to describe it using this trope. Such examples include referring to track and field as "that sport where you run around that big oval", referring to Fist of the North Star as "that show about a buff guy who kills people with pressure points", and referring to an exercise bicycle as "that machine that’s like a bike but doesn’t move".
  • Bug Catching: The challenge in "Don't Bug Me" revolves around this, with each of the campers having to catch a specific insect.
  • Bullet Catch: In "Water You Gonna Do?", when Emilia fires a fish from her team's fish cannon at Storm, Link catches the fish with his hand before it can hit Storm. This showcases his Super-Reflexes, which he attributes to years of gaming.
  • Bullying a Dragon: In "Not-So-Perfect Storm", when Brick splashes water on Emilia to prevent her from getting heatstroke, Emilia becomes irrationally angry at him for ruining her makeup and clothes. She then kicks him in the leg. However, because of Brick's incredible strength and resilience, all it does is make him angry at Emilia.
  • Call-Back:
  • Camping Episode: "Wild Kat", in which the campers are all challenged to spend 24 hours camping in the woods.
  • Caught in the Rain: In "Wild Kat", while both teams are camping out in the woods, it starts raining. Thus, Emilia and Lydia go into a tent together to escape it, as do Marlin and Carter.
  • Charles Atlas Superpower: Link's Super-Reflexes are said to be the result of a lifetime of playing video games in "Water You Gonna Do?". He credits them to "years and years of quick-time events, rhythm games, and unfair fighting game bosses that seem to read your button presses."
  • Chase Fight: Storm and Emilia have one in "Shut Up and Drive".
  • Cheaters Never Prosper: In "Don't Bug Me", Carter gets Skave to catch his bug for him. When Chris finds out about this, he gets Carter disqualified.
  • Cheerful Child: Storm's little brother Thunder. From what we see of him, he's a joyous and excitable six-year-old boy.
  • Cheery Pink:
    • Serena. She wears pink almost exclusively, and she’s consistently portrayed as sweet, kind, and optimistic.
    • Marissa also counts. She’s a party-loving Genki Girl, and, as shown in illustrations of her, much of her outfit is neon pink.
  • The Chessmaster: Drew. After he comes back for the merge, he showcases incredible strategic ability, and is able to use trickery and cunning to manipulate events into proceeding exactly as he planned.
  • Chess Motifs: In "Not-So-Perfect Storm"; Drew compares Emilia to the queen in a game of chess.
  • Childhood Friends: Storm and Violet. The two of them are established to have known each other since childhood in "Here Come The Sons… And Daughters".
  • Childish Tooth Gap: Cody Jr., a 13-year-old Tiny Schoolboy, is said to have a gap in his teeth.
  • Chubby Chef: Carter. He's clearly the fattest contestant on the show, and he's revealed to be quite a good cook in "Wild Kat". Furthermore, in "The Great Canadian Cook-Off", he reveals that his dream is to someday own a bakery, and the carrot cake he bakes for the cook-off ends up getting a near-perfect score.
  • Chubby Mama, Skinny Papa: Serena's parents, Leshawna and Harold.
  • Closet Key: Carter, for Marlin. After Marlin sees Carter naked in "Campfire Emblem Awake-ening", he says this:
I think this might have awakened something in me. Like, I’ve had suspicions that I might be into men before, but this is the tipping point.
  • Cluster Bleep-Bomb: When Ezekiel reads Anne Maria's letter in "Family Feud", this is what it says:
Dear Ezekiel, you are a [very long, bleeped-out string of profanities] and I bet you buy your kids Mega Bloks instead of Legos.
  • Combat Pragmatist: Emilia. She'll do anything to win, and has a tendency to fight dirty.
  • Combat Stilettos: Serena is described as wearing "high heels with bows on them", and yet she is able to run and move nimbly with no difficulty. In "Did Somebody Say Pancakes", this is lampshaded:
Nero: How are you able to do all that while wearing THOSE?
Serena: (chuckles) It’s just another one of my many mad skills.
  • Compensating for Something: In "Aftermath: Blast from the Past", Noah speculates that the reason Cody Jr. is so insistent on being perceived as "manly" is because he's short.
  • Confession Cam: One of the many Total Drama staples present in this fic is the famous outhouse confessional.
  • Conspiracy Theorist: Zack’s defining character trait. In fact, his elimination in "No Business Like Show Business" is caused by him wasting his allotted talent-show performance time by rambling on about the Apollo 11 moon landing being a hoax.
  • Continuity Nod: All over the place.
    • In "Here Come The Sons... And Daughters", Serena mentions having gone to Sensei Steve’s Feudal Japanese Summer Camp three summers in a row.
    • Also in "Here Come The Sons... And Daughters", when Nero arrives, Chris says the following.
Uh, I didn't invite you. Your mom literally tried to blow up this island with everyone still on it. I didn’t want to kick that hornet’s nest again.
    • In "No Business Like Show Business", Zack impresses the other campers with an "armpit serenade".
    • In "Reality Shogun", when Aka Manto is revealed to be Izzy in disguise, Storm mentions that she's not surprised, as her father Cameron once told her about that time Izzy dressed up as a giant spider and kidnapped a bunch of campers.
    • In "Campfire Emblem Awake-ening", Carter ends up sleepwalking naked, just like his father Owen did in "The Big Sleep".
    • "A Dark And Storm-y Night", "Mi Cabaña Es Su Cabaña", "Family Feud", and "Not-So-Perfect Storm" all make references to Total Drama Presents: The Ridonculous Race.
    • In "Cruel Britannia", when the campers are wondering what Chris is gonna make them do, Carter says "Maybe it'll be like when my dads went to London, and we'll have to catch Jack the Ripper!"
    • Also in "Cruel Britannia", in a confessional, Katherine mentions she once watched The Lord of the Rings with her family, and when Gollum fell into the lava, her father Ezekiel "had this pained look on his face" and said that moment hit a bit too close to home.
    • A third example in "Cruel Britannia" is when Lydia is challenged to cut a lock of Emilia's hair, and Emilia takes notice of the scissors Lydia is carrying and says "Please don’t tell me you’re going to cut off all my hair. You know, like what happened to my mother on Total Drama Island."
    • In "Shut Up and Drive", Storm says to Emilia "When I'm done with you, they'll have to put you in a ROBOT! Just like your dear ol' dad!"
    • In "Aftermath: Double Trouble", when Anne Maria says she's proud of Violet, Zoey says "Yeah, at least she didn't quit because some cave goblin gave her a gemstone that wasn't even worth anything. Y'know, like you did."
    • In "Wild Kat", Storm asks how Nero was able to build a Homemade Flamethrower, to which Nero replies "You're one to talk, Storm. Didn't your father build a mechanical battle suit from scratch?"
    • Also in "Wild Kat", there's this exchange from when Storm and Link are stuck in a tent while it's raining heavily:
Link: Don’t you see? We’re in a thunderstorm and our only shelter is this flimsy tent! What if our tent gets blown away or destroyed or something, and we get struck by lightning?
Storm: Calm down, R.O.U.S. The odds of getting struck by lightning are around 1 in 500,000. Plus, my dad got struck by lightning once, and he’s fine.
Link: Is he really, though? Last I checked, he thought the Eiffel Tower was in Germany.
Storm: Oh, don't worry. He was always like that.
    • In "Water You Gonna Do?", Storm drives her team's boat, just as her father Lightning did in "Backstabbers Ahoy!".
    • In "A Shocking Twist", when Emilia is about to electrocute Storm with her "Doom Stick", she says "I HOPE SERENA LIKES YOUR NEW WHITE HAIR!", referencing how Lightning's hair turned white as a result of getting electrocuted in "Brain vs. Brawn: The Ultimate Showdown"
    • In "Family Feud", Drew and Duncan serve Harold a sandwich with underwear in it.
    • In "The Word on the Street" Drew threatens to beat Serena so hard that she will have to be escorted out of the competition "in an ambulance. Or a robot. Or a trauma chair. Or something of that nature."
    • The name of the Discord server that Cody Jr. makes in "After the Dive of Shame" is called "Team Chris Is Really Really Really Really Old", a clear reference to "Team Chris Is Really Really Really Really Hot" from World Tour.
    • In "Not-So-Perfect Storm", Jen mentions that overalls are a major fashion faux pas.
    • In "Virtual Royale-ity", during the virtual-reality battle between the campers, Katherine (who, at the moment, was equipped with bladed brass knuckles) attacks Drew by jumping out of a pond, scratching at him with her claws, lunging at him, and pounding him with her fists- exactly like her father Ezekiel did to Drew's father Duncan in "African Lying Safari".
    • Also in "Virtual Royale-ity", as Drew is being pushed down the Dive of Shame, he screams "I DO NOT CONCEDE! I DO NOT CONCEDE!", just like his mother Courtney did when she was eliminated in "Basic Straining".
  • Control Freak: Drew, just like his mother Courtney, likes being in charge and despises when things don't go according to his plans.
  • Coordinated Clothes: The challenge in "Family Feud" has the members of each Parent-Child Team dress identically; in fact, each team is wearing the Iconic Outfit that the parent wore on Total Drama.
  • Cosmetic Catastrophe: In "Not-So-Perfect Storm", the campers are all challenged to do their own makeup and assemble two outfits to wear on the runway. However, Storm, being a Tomboy raised by two men, has no idea how to apply makeup, and ends up looking ridiculous.
  • Cover Innocent Eyes and Ears: In "Campfire Emblem Awake-ening", when Carter is sleepwalking naked, Wayne puts a hand over Katherine's eyes so she doesn't have to see it.
  • Creating Life Is Bad: Emilia certainly thinks so. Storm's status as an Artificial Human created in a lab is a common source of mockery from Emilia. In fact, in "Campfire Emblem Awake-ening", Emilia refers to Storm's creation as "a horrifying example of man playing God", and in "Shut Up and Drive", she calls Storm "a fake human made from Lightning and Cameron's by-products".
  • Creepy Centipedes: Serena reveals centipedes are her worst fear in "Nothing To Fear But Fear Itself".
  • Creepy Housekeeper: Crimson and Ennui (of Ridonculous Race fame) play this role during the haunted house challenge in "A Dark And Storm-y Night".
  • Crippling the Competition: After Link accidentally knocks off Lydia's wig and reveals her identity in "A Shocking Twist", Emilia swears revenge on him. Thus, in the next episode, "The Great Canadian Cook-Off", she steals his glasses while he's asleep, impairing his vision severely.
  • Crossdresser: Chef dresses like a Geisha for the Japanese-themed challenge in "Reality Shogun".
  • Crouching Moron, Hidden Badass: Just like her father Harold, Serena is this. At first glance, she seems like a harmless Occidental Otaku whose Elegant Gothic Lolita getup would hinder her in physical challenges. Then you realize she can run in high heels. And fight in a Sweet Lolita dress. And that all the anime she watches has taught her several methods of ass-kicking.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: Katherine and Emilia's fencing match in "She Who Lives By the Sword…". Katherine ends up winning 15-1.
  • Cute and Psycho: Katherine. Normally, she's a shy and reserved Cute Bookworm, but as Feral Kat, she's a "psycho hose beast" who acts like a wild animal.
  • Cute Bookworm: Katherine, natch. She loves to read, and she's portrayed as shy, socially awkward, and very endearing.
  • Cute Monster Girl: Dakotazoid is portrayed this way.
  • The Cutie:

     D-F
  • Daddy's Girl: Katherine. She admits to having a far more close relationship with her father Ezekiel than she does with her mother Izzy.
  • Daddy's Little Villain: Emilia. She's the daughter of Alejandro, and is just as ruthless and manipulative as he is.
  • Damage-Sponge Boss: In "Virtual Royale-ity", due to his playstyle of "finding and using health packs as much as possible, even when it's completely unnecessary", Drew effectively becomes this.
  • Dancing Royalty: Violet. As a competitive dance-team captain, her dancing skills are unmatched.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: As revealed in "Nothing To Fear But Fear Itself", when Katherine was three years old, she was at the store with her parents when her father Ezekiel started getting harassed for his monstrous appearance and past actions. Eventually, he got beaten up by a gang of thugs on the way to the car, who called him "that freak from Total Drama". Little Katherine was so traumatized by this event that she became terrified of the outside world.
  • Dark Horse Victory: In "Shut Up And Drive", arch-rivals Storm and Emilia are neck and neck throughout the whole go-kart race, even engaging in a Chase Fight. However, during the third lap, the two of them are too busy fighting each other to realize that Link has just sped ahead of both of them, and Link ends up winning the race.
  • Dating What Daddy Hates: Tophella. Her father, Topher, hates her boyfriend Keith and doesn't approve of their relationship. The reason Tophella decided to go to camp in the first place was so she can spend more time with Keith without Topher getting in the way. This is most heavily emphasized in "Aftermath: Double Trouble", in which Topher blows up at Tophella for spending so much time with Keith on the show and demands she break up with him, but Tophella's mother Ella then steps in and reminds Topher that his daughter isn't a baby anymore and he needs to let her grow up.
  • David Versus Goliath: Invoked in "A Shocking Twist" when Link, the tallest person at the camp, steps up to do the dueling-stick challenge, and Chris asks who wants to be "the David to his Goliath".
  • Deadpan Snarker: Chris, as in canon, is constantly making snide remarks about the contestants.
  • Death by Disfigurement: Well, Elimination by Disfigurement, but still. In "She Who Lives By the Sword…", during Katherine and Emilia's sword duel, Katherine leaves a Dueling Scar on Emilia's beautiful face to serve as a Mark of Shame. Later in that same episode, Emilia gets eliminated.
  • Death by Irony:
    • More like Elimination by Irony: Marlin, a Surfer Dude who describes himself as "basically amphibious", gets eliminated in "Water You Gonna Do?", an episode with an aquatic challenge.
    • Emilia is determined to make Storm suffer from this in "A Shocking Twist", as she attempts to destroy Storm using the very element she associates herself with: electricity. Of course, it doesn't work.
  • Death of a Thousand Cuts: During the Battle Royale Game in "Virtual Royale-ity", Drew makes an effort to steal as many health packs as he can before Skave or Katherine can get them, effectively turning him into a Damage-Sponge Boss. Thus, he ends up getting hit way more times than either Skave or Katherine, even though most of those hits are negated with healing items. However, since the virtual-reality headsets the campers are outfitted with deliver electric shocks each time the player is damaged in the game, Drew ends up getting so many electric shocks that he gets a white streak in his hair.
  • Death Glare: In "Shut Up and Drive", Storm and Emilia exchange plenty of these.
  • Deliver Us from Evil: Downplayed. Chris McLean and Chef Hatchet are considerably less harsh towards the contestants of Total Drama Legacy as they were to the contestants of previous seasons, and it's said that raising Tina together has softened them. However, Chris is still a Depraved Kids' Show Host and Chef is still an Angry Chef, so they haven't gone completely soft.
    • Heather is a straighter example. From what we see of her, she’s a lot less cruel than her teen self, most likely as a result of growing up and starting a family.
  • Depraved Bisexual: Emilia is a subversion. She's attracted to both men and women, and is ruthless towards her foes. In fact, in the first chapter, we see her using her good looks to try to convince people to join her side, which commonly overlaps with this trope. However, when Emilia and Lydia become an item, we see that Emilia has a genuinely caring side, and isn't entirely cruel. Her love for Lydia ends up being the only thing that keeps her from becoming completely heartless, and once Lydia is eliminated, she gets a lot more cruel. Emilia's sexuality doesn't accent her villainy; in fact, it negates it.
  • Depraved Kids' Show Host: Chris, of course. While age and raising Tina have softened him a bit, he's still quite cruel towards his contestants.
  • Determinator: Storm. As she herself states in "Did Somebody Say Pancakes?", she will never let anything get her down.
  • Dick Dastardly Stops to Cheat: Emilia in "Shut Up and Drive". If she wasn't so focused on destroying Storm, Link would have never sped ahead of her and won the race. Chris even compares her to the Trope Namer during the elimination ceremony.
  • Disc-One Final Boss: Emilia. She plays the role of Big Bad throughout most of the fic, later teaming up with Drew to form a Big Bad Duumvirate. However, after she gets eliminated in "She Who Lives By the Sword...", Drew takes up the mantle of "main antagonist".
  • Distaff Counterpart: Katherine is basically a female version of her father Ezekiel (as ironic as that seems, considering Ezekiel's elimination in Island was due to him making sexist comments). Like her father, she's a brown-haired, gray-eyed Homeschooled Kid raised on the Canadian prairie, and she also has her father's dress sense (green hoodie, blue jeans, and a toque with a pom-pom), thick Canadian accent, ability to speak multiple languages, social ineptitude, and she's even got a feral side!
  • The Ditz:
  • The Dog Bites Back: In "Virtual Royale-ity", the three remaining campers take part in a virtual-reality Battle Royale Game, and all the eliminated campers get a chance to send a weapon to a camper of their choosing. When it's Serena's turn, she decides to use her chance as a way to get back at Drew, the camper that had repeatedly tormented her just so he could get "revenge" on her dad. So she sends Drew a bomb that's about to go off, which deals massive damage to Drew, depletes his HP, and solidifies him as the contestant that's getting eliminated that night.
  • Don't Look At Me: Katherine says this in "Wild Kat" after Link sees her in her feral state.
  • Doomy Dooms of Doom: Emilia's "Doom Stick" in "A Shocking Twist".
  • Double-Meaning Title: "Campfire Emblem Awake-ening". The episode's title (itself a pun on Fire Emblem: Awakening) refers to the episode's challenge, the Awake-a-thon. However, it also refers to how, in this episode, Marlin has his LGBT Awakening after seeing Carter naked.
  • Downer Ending: "The Great Canadian Cook-Off" ends with Link getting eliminated for something that was Emilia's fault (with Emilia getting off scot-free), and Katherine having to say goodbye to her one true love.
  • Dragged into Drag: In the episode "Family Feud", all the parent-child duos have to wear the outfit their parent wore on Total Drama. Therefore, because Drew partnered up with his mother Courtney, he has to wear a replica of the outfit Courtney wore on the show- which includes a pair of platform sandals. Drew is not happy about this.
How humiliating. They’re making me wear women’s clothing! How am I supposed to run the race in these shoes?
  • The Dreaded: Scarlett. Chris intentionally doesn't invite her son to the island because she tried to blow up the island and he "didn't want to kick that hornet's nest again" (though her son shows up anyway), and, similarly, Sierra doesn't invite her and her husband to be part of the Parental Peanut Gallery because she's afraid of her. Heck, in "Nothing To Fear But Fear Itself", her son Nero admits that his worst fear is his mother when she's angry, and he doesn't end up getting over said fear.
  • Dress-Up Episode: "Not-So-Perfect Storm". Its challenge is a fashion show called "It's About Time" where campers have to dress up in modern costumes for the first part and historical costumes for the second part. Emilia has to dress like it's the Renaissance, Drew has to dress like it's the Victorian era, Katherine has to dress like it's the Regency era, Skave has to dress like it's Han-dynasty China, and Storm has to dress like it's The Roaring '20s.
  • Driven by Envy: Emilia's hatred of Storm is implied to at least partially be a result of this. Storm is physically strong, highly intelligent, well-liked by most of the other campers, and has larger breasts than Emilia; therefore, Emilia hates her.
  • Drives Like Crazy: Marissa. In "Shut Up and Drive", it's revealed that she's a terrible driver. Her younger brother Marlin states in a confessional that her Driver's Ed instructor once called her a "lost cause" and said she'd "have to learn to be very dependent on buses and taxis". It's also stated that she once got into a go-kart accident at a birthday party. Naturally, since the challenge in "Shut Up and Drive" is a go-kart race, she ends up crashing during the first lap and gets eliminated.
  • Dropped Glasses: In "The Great Canadian Cook-Off", Link's glasses are stolen by Emilia, severely impairing his eyesight.
  • Drunk on the Dark Side: Emilia, after creating the Doom Stick.
  • Dumb Blonde:
    • Marissa is blonde, and is shown to be foolish and impulsive.
    • Morgan is actually a subversion. At first glance, she seems to be a stereotypically shallow blonde, concerned more about her looks than about helping her team. However, in "Aftermath: The Next Generation", we find out she has an interest in medicine, and "After the Dive of Shame" confirms that she is, indeed, smarter than she may seem.
  • Dumb Jock: Wayne, Wayne, WAYNE. He's a Lovable Jock, and his idiocy is his primary character trait. In "A Dark and Storm-y Night", he reveals that he has 3 brain cells. Examples of his idiocy include:
  • Dumb Muscle: Wayne and Lightning.
  • Eagleland: In "The Word On the Street", Drew, who is himself Canadian, states that he thinks of Americans as Type B (i.e. boorish and jingoistic). Storm (who was revealed in "Mi Cabaña Es Su Cabaña" to be from Los Angeles) naturally takes offense to this.
  • Earn Your Happy Ending: Katherine. Having spent most of her life as a Hikikomori, she arrives on Pahkitew Island terrified, nervous, and wishing she was back home. However, as she spends more time on the island, she makes friends, falls in love with Link, and slowly comes out of her shell. During her time on the island, she's forced to do things she wouldn't even think of doing before (such as performing on stage, conquering her fear of crowds, reverting to her long-suppressed "feral" state, and wearing an outfit that doesn't look flattering on someone with her cup size), but being pushed out of her comfort zone helps her grow as a person. And eventually, after seeing her boyfriend and both of her alliance partners face elimination, she not only lasts all the way to the final two, but ends up winning the million dollars, something that her father Ezekiel could never do.
  • Easily Embarrassed Youngster: Cody Jr., which is highlighted in "Aftermath: Blast from the Past".
  • Easily-Overheard Conversation:
    • As in "Phobia Factor", the campers admitting their fears in "Nothing To Fear But Fear Itself" is recorded on camera.
    • In "The Word On the Street", when Violet, Barbara, Marissa, and Morgan are coming back from the restroom, Katherine is able to hear what they are gossiping about (which, apparently, is her).
  • Eat That: In "Reality Shogun", Barbara is forced to eat natto. Barbara can't stomach it, and she ends up failing the challenge.
  • Education Papa: "Nothing To Fear But Fear Itself" reveals that Cameron was one towards Storm. He wanted his child to be as smart as he was, so from an early age, he read lots of books to her and encouraged her to push herself to the limit intellectually. His efforts ultimately paid off, as Storm ended up being highly intelligent; however, the one time Storm got a D on a test, he felt as if she had betrayed him.
  • Eerie Pale-Skinned Brunette: Feral Kat. Katherine is described as having brown hair and very pale skin (the latter being due to her background as a Hikikomori). And as Feral Kat, she's a Cute and Psycho Wild Child. However, it's stated that Feral Kat's skin actually looks green at certain angles.
  • Einstein Hair: Nero, which befits his Mad Scientist characterization.
  • Electric Black Guy: Lightning, as in canon, as well as his children Storm and Thunder. All of them are Black, and all of them are associated with electricity.
  • Electric Torture: In "Virtual Royale-ity", the virtual-reality headsets that the campers are outfitted with provide electric shocks to their wearers each time their character is damaged in the Battle Royale Game they're playing. Due to his abuse of health packs, Drew ends up taking far more hits to defeat than Skave or Katherine, which, in the real world, translates to a lot of electric shocks. The repeated electric shocks cause Drew to develop a white skunk stripe in his hair, as a Call-Back to what happened to Lightning when he got electrocuted in "Brain vs. Brawn: The Ultimate Showdown".
  • Elegant Gothic Lolita: Serena wears a Sweet Lolita dress at all times.
  • Elemental Motifs: Just like her father Lightning, Storm is heavily associated with electricity.
  • Elimination Houdini: Emilia. Just like her mother Heather and her father Alejandro before her, she manages to evade elimination (sometimes by an incredibly narrow margin) and make it to a respectable 4th place. The further she gets in the competition, the more narrowly she seems to escape getting eliminated. Some of her closest brushes with elimination include:
    • Both "Shut Up and Drive" and "Water You Gonna Do?", where she spends most of the competition trying to destroy Storm instead of focusing on winning. However, she evades elimination because of the incompetence of one of her teammates; in "Shut Up and Drive", Marissa gets eliminated due to her lack of driving skills, and in "Water You Gonna Do?", Marlin gets eliminated after freeing one of the fish his team was supposed to fire at the targets.
    • In "A Shocking Twist", Emilia literally electrifies her dueling stick with the express purpose of using it to seriously hurt Storm. However, Lydia's Hairstyle Malfunction and the Internal Reveal that she was Tina all along get her eliminated instead.
    • In "Don't Bug Me", Emilia disturbs a beehive while catching bugs, and gets stung by a Scary Stinging Swarm. This mishap, combined with the fact that most of the campers don't like her, leads to her receiving the most votes at the elimination ceremony… but the last-minute reveal that Carter didn't actually catch his own bug leads to a Disqualification-Induced Victory for Emilia.
    • In "The Word On the Street", Emilia is the only contestant who gets no questions correct. And, again, most of the campers hate her. Had it not been for Drew using a Paranoia Gambit to get the campers to vote for Serena, Emilia would have been eliminated.
    • Finally, from "Not-So-Perfect Storm" onwards, who gets eliminated is decided by who performs the worst in the challenge, so even though Emilia is at her absolute nastiest in "Not-So-Perfect Storm", she still remains in the game, since she performed pretty well in the challenge.
  • Elimination Statement: When campers are about to take the Dive of Shame, Chris typically asks them if they'd like to say a few words, which they almost always do.
  • Embarrassing First Name: In "Not-So-Perfect Storm", when Brick reveals that his real name is Gunther, Drew remarks that he now understands why everyone calls him "Brick", because, in his words, "nobody would ever want to be named Gunther."
  • Embarrassing Middle Name: "Family Feud" reveals that Katherine's middle name is Kaleidoscope. Apparently, that middle name was Izzy's idea.
  • Embarrassing Old Photo: A Running Gag in "Aftermath: Blast from the Past" is embarrassing home videos of Cody Jr. as a child being accidentally shown.
  • Endearingly Dorky: Serena is a bespectacled Occidental Otaku who is considered The Cutie both in- and out-of-universe.
  • Enraged by Idiocy:
    • Drew in "Campfire Emblem Awake-ening". During the Awake-a-thon, he partners up with Wayne and Marissa to ensure they stay awake as long as possible and give the Classic Cobras the win. However, he quickly becomes sick of them.
Wayne and Marissa are both so UNBELIEVABLY dense. I can't believe I have to rely on THEM to keep my team afloat!
    • In "A Dark and Storm-y Night", all of the Classic Cobras become enraged by Wayne's sheer stupidity during the escape-room challenge. This results in his elimination.
  • Entitled Bitch: Morgan, being a Spoiled Brat, has a massive sense of entitlement, and grows very frustrated when the facilities at camp don't live up to her impossibly high standards.
  • Epic Fail:
    • In "Did Somebody Say Pancakes?", Cody Jr. decides to continue to eat after he is already full in order to help his team win the challenge. However, after literally biting off more than he can chew, he ends up becoming the only camper to throw up and get disqualified without even going through the obstacle course.
    • In "Shut Up and Drive", Marissa is such a terrible driver that she crashes into a rock and starts spinning out of control only a little while after leaving the starting line in Lap 1.
    • In "Wild Kat", Nero tries to use a Homemade Flamethrower to start a campfire, and ends up setting his own tent on fire.
  • Epunymous Title:
    • Since her name is an actual word in the English dictionary, Storm is subject to a lot of puns based on her name throughout the story. In fact, two episodes (both of which feature her prominently) have titles that are puns on her name: "A Dark and Storm-y Night" and "Not-So-Perfect Storm".
    • The episode where Katherine's feral form is introduced is called "Wild Kat".
  • Eskimos Aren't Real: In "Virtual Royale-ity", we learn that Katherine is so sheltered that she never knew virtual-reality games were a real thing until then, and just thought they were something in sci-fi stories.
  • Establishing Character Moment: The plane scene in "Here Come the Sons... And Daughters" is one for all 20 campers.
  • Even Bad Men Love Their Mamas:
    • Drew. One of the fic's two primary antagonists, and a huge Momma's Boy.
    • Emilia is also an example, as despite her ruthlessness, she's shown to have a good relationship with her parents, Heather and Alejandro.
  • Even Evil Has Loved Ones:
    • Emilia may be ruthless, but she cares deeply about her girlfriend Lydia. In fact, Lydia serves as her Morality Chain, and when she gets eliminated in "A Shocking Twist", Emilia takes a level in Jerkass.
    • Going off of how Pahkitew Island established Max as a Friend to All Children, Max is shown to be a very caring father towards his son Nero.
  • Everyone Meets Everyone: The first episode, "Here Come The Sons... And Daughters".
  • Every Proper Lady Should Curtsy: In "Not-So-Perfect Storm", during the historical portion of the fashion challenge, Katherine dresses like a Regency-era lady, and when she makes her way down the runway, she curtsies.
  • Evil Counterpart: Emilia could be considered one to Storm. They're both daughters of a season's two finalists (Emilia is the daughter of World Tour's two finalists, while Storm is the daughter of Revenge of the Island's), they're both romantically involved with another female camper, they both have dark hair, they both make an alliance with another camper on their team who ends up making the top 10 but not making it to the merge (Emilia makes an alliance with Lydia, who ends up in 10th place; Storm makes an alliance with Link, who ends up in 9th), they both are revealed to have younger siblings in "After the Dive of Shame", they both make it to the final five, and their eliminations are back-to-back (Storm ends up in 5th, and Emilia ends up in 4th).
  • Evil Genius: Nero, up until his Heel–Face Turn.
  • Evil Is Hammy: Emilia. The meaner she gets, the hammier she gets.
  • Evil Is Petty: Both Emilia and Drew have a tendency to inconvenience their rivals whenever an opportunity arises to do so, just because they can.
  • Evil Makes You Ugly: After taking a level in Jerkass, Emilia's face is damaged on two occasions; temporarily in "Don't Bug Me", when she gets stung by bees, and permanently in "She Who Lives By the Sword…", when Katherine leaves a Dueling Scar across her face.
  • Evil Matriarch: Scarlett. She is the only Total Drama villain in this fic who averts Deliver Us from Evil, as she's still a heartless Evil Genius even after giving birth to her son Nero. In fact, Nero is said to be afraid of her when she's angry.
  • Excessive Evil Eyeshadow: Emilia is described as wearing "aggressively winged eyeliner" in "Campfire Emblem Awake-ening", and is shown to wear dark eyeshadow in the group photo in "Here Come The Sons…And Daughters".
  • Expy:
  • Extreme Omnivore: Owen and Sugar, as in canon.
    • In Sugar's case, it's actually exploited. Because Sugar will eat anything, she's chosen to be one of the judges for the cooking competition, likely because the hosts figured at least one of the contestants would mess it up.
  • Eye Am Watching You: Drew does this to Katherine in "Not-So-Perfect Storm".
  • Facepalm:
  • Face Plant: Storm does this in "Not-So-Perfect Storm" as she walks down the runway in high heels, since she's never worn high heels before.
  • Fairytale Motifs:
  • Falling into His Arms: Happens twice in "The Word on the Street", first, when Katherine falls into Link's arms, and second, when Storm falls into Serena's. The second instance is actually a subversion, as Serena buckles under the weight of Storm's muscular body and drops her.
  • Family Eye Resemblance: Several of the characters are described as having the same eye color as one of their parents. Emilia's eyes are green like Alejandro's, Marlin's are hazel like Bridgette's, Marissa's are blue like Geoff's, Wayne's are blue like Lindsay's, Katherine's are gray like Ezekiel's, Barbara's are brown like Zoey's, Storm's are brown like Lightning's, Skave's are brown like Dave's, Keith's are black like Sky's, and Tophella's are green like Topher's.
  • Family Man: Many of the fathers of the TDL contestants are shown to be loyal to their children and their spouses.
  • Family Theme Naming: Lightning’s two children are named Storm and Thunder.
  • Fan-Created Offspring: All of the Total Drama Legacy contestants.
  • Farmer's Daughter: Katherine. As she states on multiple occasions, she was raised on a farm, and she has many of the attributes of this trope: innocent, sheltered, skilled with handling farm animals, looks beautiful without even trying, etc.
  • The Fashionista: Emilia, very much so. She loves fashion, and always strives to look her best.
  • Fashion Show: The challenge in "Not-So-Perfect Storm" is one of these.
  • Fast as Lightning: Storm is heavily associated with lightning, and as shown in "Campfire Emblem Awake-ening", is the fastest runner out of all the campers.
  • Fat and Skinny: Serena and Katherine.
  • Fatherly Scientist: Cameron. Using a Uterine Replicator and the combined DNA of him and his husband Lightning, he created not one, but two children for him and Lightning to raise together. And he loves them both immensely. He's shown to be a very Doting Parent towards his daughter Storm, and seems to be very affectionate towards his son Thunder as well.
  • Fat Idiot: Sugar. Very fat, and dumb enough to think "bon appetit" is Italian and spaghetti is called "pasketti".
  • Fearless Fool: Marissa never thinks before doing anything, which often results in her doing dangerous or embarrassing things. As Marlin states in "No Business Like Show Business":
Her self-confidence is abnormally high, and she seems to have no sense of shame.
  • Femme Fatale: Emilia is as beautiful and sultry as she is manipulative and ruthless.
  • Femininity Failure: Storm's failure during "Not-So-Perfect Storm"'s fashion-show challenge is due to her inexperience with walking in heels and especially putting on makeup.
  • Fetch Quest: In "Don't Bug Me", each of the campers are assigned to catch an insect and bring it back to Chris.
  • Final Exam Finale: The final challenge is a race around the island with 20 mini-challenge stations, each calling back to a previous challenge. Chris straight-up refers to it as a "final exam".
  • Finishing Each Other's Sentences: Keith and Tophella do this in "A Dark and Storm-y Night", in order to show how madly in love they are.
  • First-Name Ultimatum: In "Shut Up and Drive", when Emilia and Storm get into a Chase Fight, Emilia refers to Storm by her real name, Helen, to show how furious she is at her.
    • Earlier, in "Cruel Britannia", Ella uses Topher's full name, Christopher, to show she's being serious.
  • Fisticuff-Provoking Comment: In "The Word On the Street", when Morgan says Violet's skin is "basically orange", Violet is furious that Morgan dared to "disrespect the tan" and tells her she just "earned [herself] a one-way ticket to Beatdown Town".
  • Fist of Rage: Drew does this when he's about to get eliminated in "Campfire Emblem Awake-ening".
  • Flash Forward Fic: As is to be expected from a fic centered around Fan-Created Offspring, this fic is set a couple decades after the events of Pahkitew Island. All of the previous Total Drama campers are now grown adults, and Chris McLean is now in his fifties.
  • Flower Motifs:
    • Violet is associated with, and named after, violets. Not only are violets associated with lesbians and romance between women, which fits with how Violet is the only Total Drama Legacy contestant to have two mothers, but the violet is also the state flower of New Jersey, where Violet is from.
    • Emilia seems to be associated with roses, given that she has a rose in her hair and her racing helmet is decorated with roses and hearts in "Shut Up and Drive". This fits her well- not only because roses are associated with love, but also because of the phrase "every rose has its thorns", which fits her Silk Hiding Steel nature.
  • Flowery Insults:
    • In "Family Feud", Anne Maria says to Ezekiel "I bet you buy your kids Mega Bloks instead of Legos."
    • In "After the Dive of Shame", Raquel calls Emilia a "tangled headphone cord".
  • Foil: Storm, to Emilia. Storm is a tomboy, while Emilia is a girly girl. Storm is one of the Modern Mandrills, Emilia is one of the Classic Cobras. Storm's hair is short and curly, while Emilia's is long (at least initially) and straight. Storm wears primarily blue, Emilia wears primarily red. Storm wears no makeup and is terrible at applying it, Emilia wears a lot of makeup and excels at applying it. Storm is a Cool Big Sis to her little brother Thunder, Emilia is a Big Sister Bully to her little sister Raquel. Storm fights with blunt physical strength, while Emilia fights with elegance and grace. Storm is kind and friendly, while Emilia is mean and spiteful. And, of course, Storm and Emilia hate each other.
  • Food as Bribe: Carter manages to do this to himself at the end of "Wild Kat". When the campers are all racing towards the mess hall, Carter is trailing behind the others and ends up out of breath, but when he remembers that the mess hall is where they keep all the food, he gains a Heroic Second Wind and rushes towards it.
  • Food Coma: As in "The Big Sleep", this is the reason why Chris feeds the campers a large meal before the Awake-a-thon in "Campfire Emblem Awake-ening".
  • Food Fight: One breaks out during dinner in "The Great Canadian Cook-Off".
  • Foolish Sibling, Responsible Sibling: Marissa and Marlin. The impulsive and obnoxious Marissa is the Foolish Sibling, while the level-headed and relaxed Marlin is the Responsible Sibling.
  • Forceful Kiss: Emilia does one to Carter in "Here Come The Sons… And Daughters" under the impression that she could seduce him into joining an alliance with her. However, as soon as she kisses him, Carter jerks away from her and informs her that he's gay.
  • Foreign Cuss Word: In "Family Feud", upon seeing that Storm and Lightning got to the Victory Flag first, Alejandro says "¡Mierda!"translation
    • Later, in "The Word on the Street", when Emilia gets a question wrong, she says "¡Maldición!" translation
  • Foreign Queasine: In "Reality Shogun", Barbara has to eat natto, a traditional Japanese breakfast food. As Chris puts it, it's "considered an acquired taste".
  • Foreshadowing: Lots.
    • In "Here Come The Sons… And Daughters", Chris says he has a feeling Emilia is "gonna be hard to take down". And wouldn't you know it, in later chapters, she ends up becoming an Elimination Houdini.
    • In "No Business Like Show Business", Carter says he's taken quite a liking to Marlin, and thinks the two of them "are gonna be great friends. Or maybe lovers. Either one works." And as it turns out, the two of them do end up becoming lovers in "Cruel Britannia".
    • At the end of "Reality Shogun", Chris says "Who will get eliminated next? What challenges will await our campers? And will Link and Katherine finally kiss?". In the very next episode, "Campfire Emblem Awake-ening", Link and Katherine share their first kiss.
    • As Drew is about to go off the Dive of Shame, he says that his mother is a lawyer and that "she'll sue you for all you're worth until [Chris] lets [him] back onto the show". Chris replies with "Like that's ever gonna happen." It does.
    • In "Aftermath: The Next Generation", Drew says that when and if he gets back on the show, he is going to destroy Serena. Lo and behold, in "The Word on the Street", Drew ends up using a Paranoia Gambit to get Serena eliminated.
    • In "Cruel Britannia", Keith says "Oh, Tophella. I don't know what I'd ever do without you." Guess who gets eliminated at the end of the episode?
    • When Link asks to sleep in the same tent as Storm in "Wild Kat", Storm says "Alright. But if I find your head resting on my sha-boobies when I wake up, our alliance is over." Later in that episode, when Nero asks if he can stay in their tent, what does he end up doing that pisses off Storm? He accidentally touches her sha-boobies.
    • In "Water You Gonna Do?", when Emilia taunts Storm, Storm says in a confessional that she wouldn't be surprised if Emilia ended up shooting her with one of the fish in her fish cannon. As it turns out, she later ends up doing just that.
    • Both "Reality Shogun" and "Don't Bug Me" show that Emilia hates having her beautiful face injured. This foreshadows her eventual fate in "She Who Lives By the Sword…", in which she gets a scar across her face during a sword duel.
    • "Not-So-Perfect Storm" has Storm telling Emilia that her cruel treatment of her fellow campers was going to come back to bite her, and that she'd eventually get what's coming to her. Guess who gets severely injured and eliminated in the very next episode?
  • Foul Waterfowl: Carter's worst fear is revealed to be geese in "Nothing To Fear But Fear Itself". He says it stemmed from an incident from when he was a kid, in which he was at the park and a goose stole his sandwich and hissed at him.
  • Four-Temperament Ensemble: The final four end up being this: Drew is melancholic, Katherine is phlegmatic, Emilia is choleric, and Skave is sanguine.
  • Freakiness Shame: Link often feels insecure about himself because of his abnormal height and monstrous features. Because of this, he doubts any girl could ever love him. However, Katherine still finds him handsome regardless.
  • Free the Frogs: In "Water You Gonna Do?", both teams have to shoot down sea mines using cannons that shoot fish. When Marlin has to operate the cannon, he sees that the fish is suffering in the cannon and lets it go free into the water. This act of altruism ends up costing his team the win.
  • Friendless Background: Katherine. Having spent most of her life as a homeschooled, cripplingly shy Hikikomori, she never had any friends before coming to Pahkitew Island. In fact, in "Mi Cabaña Es Su Cabaña", she tells Serena that she is the first person she's ever befriended.
  • The Friend Nobody Likes: Morgan ends up becoming this to the Modern Mandrills in "Here Come The Sons… And Daughters". Throughout the episode, all the other Modern Mandrills become annoyed with her, and when deciding who to vote out, they almost unanimously decide to vote for her.
Skave: Morgan is out of the team.
Storm: I thought choosing who to eliminate first was going to be hard. But no. Morgan is just so unlikable and so bratty that I have to vote for her.
Keith: That spoiled brat needs to go.
Violet: Bye-bye, Morgan. I’m NOT gonna miss you.
Tophella: I hope she NEVER comes back to this island.
Link: It's game over for Morgan.
  • Full-Name Ultimatum: In "A Shocking Twist", when Chris is scolding Tina for sneaking onto the show without him knowing, he refers to her by her full name, Christina Rose McLean.
  • Functional Addict: Lindsay is mentioned offhandedly to have problems with drug addiction in "Aftermath: Double Trouble" (as her bad experiences on the show ended up traumatizing her), but you'd never guess it from her actions, as she seems to be the same old Lindsay we know and love.
  • Fun Personified: Marissa. Joyful, energetic, and the Life of the Party, she's all about having fun and living life to the fullest.
  • Fun T-Shirt: Cody Jr's T-shirt has the "Loss" meme on it.

     G-I
  • Gadgeteer Genius: Nero. He's often shown working on inventions, and is clearly very skilled with machines.
  • Gasshole: Owen, as in canon. In "Family Feud", he uses his farts to propel him forward like a motorboat in water.
  • Gay Guy Seeks Popular Jock: This fanfic ships nerdy Cameron with Lightning, which is a textbook example of this trope.
  • Geek Physiques: Serena, "the Weeaboo", is a pudgy girl, leaning into the stereotype that geeks are fat. By contrast, Link, "the Gamer", is thin and lanky, and falls more under the stereotype of geeks being scrawny.
  • Generation Xerox:
    • Drew, just like his mother Courtney, resists when he is eliminated and has to be dragged off the show. On both occasions.
    • Drew constantly bullies both Harold and Serena, mirroring his father's bullying of Harold in the first two canonical seasons.note
    • Emilia invokes this in "A Shocking Twist", as she attempts to defeat Storm in the same way her father Lightning was defeated; electrocution.
  • Genki Girl: Marissa. If she could be described in one word, it would be "obnoxious". A wild and energetic party animal, Marissa is overflowing with positivity and life.
    • Izzy is also an example, as she is in canon.
  • Genius Bruiser: Storm. Though she's an Academic Athlete whose mind is as finely toned as her biceps, she tends to rely on pure physical strength in battle situations.
  • Gentle Giant: Link. He's the tallest camper at 7'0", and has a somewhat monstrous appearance (what with his tail, sharp teeth, and shoulder spikes). However, he's one of the nicest and most affable campers, especially towards his girlfriend Katherine (whom he loves with all his heart).
    • Link's mother, Dakota, is also an example. She's a towering Nuclear Mutant, yes, but she's also an incredibly loving mother towards her son Link.
  • Germans Love David Hasselhoff: In-Universe. As revealed in "Aftermath: Endgame", Serena is incredibly popular in Japan. The reason why should be quite obvious.
  • Get a Room!:
    • Chris says this to Storm and Serena in "Cruel Britannia" when they start making out during the Star-Crossed Lovers Challenge.
    • Heather says this to Geoff and Bridgette in "Aftermath: Endgame".
  • Giant Poofy Sleeves: Both Serena and Tophella wear outfits with puff sleeves, but Serena's are clearly larger and more extravagant. In addition, Serena's swimsuit also has a pair of puff sleeves.
  • Girl on Girl Is Hot: Topher brings this up in "Aftermath: Endgame" as one of the reasons why putting lesbians in a TV show is a good way to garner attention.
  • Girl Next Door: Barbara, who is wholesome, kind, and approachable.
  • Girly Girl with a Tomboy Streak: Serena. Sure, she's a Kawaiiko who dresses in pink, frilly outfits, but she's also a big fan of a lot of Shōnen anime, most notably JoJo's Bizarre Adventure.
  • Global Ignorance: As revealed in "A Dark and Storm-y Night", Wayne sucks at geography.
  • The Glomp:
    • Izzy does this to Katherine in "Family Feud", and does it again in "The Dash for the Cash".
    • Carter does this to Marlin at the end of "Don't Bug Me".
  • God Save Us from the Queen!: Emilia has a lot of queen imagery and symbolism; heck, her title is even "The Empress". This is most prominently emphasized in "Not-So-Perfect Storm": in that episode, Drew compares her to the queen in a game of chess, Tom says "YASS QUEEN!" as she walks down the runway, and when she's dressed in her historical outfit, Drew says she looks like a queen.
  • Goggles Do Nothing: Subverted. Nero wears a pair of goggles on his head, but never really uses them… until he has to take the Dive of Shame, and he puts them over his eyes.
  • Good Parents: Many of the campers grew up to be very kind and loving parents.
  • Good Stepfather: Chef, to Tina. He's shown to be nicer and more forgiving towards her than Chris is.
  • Gorgeous Period Dress: The historical outfits that the campers all wore in "Not-So-Perfect Storm".
  • Gossipy Hens: Violet, Morgan, Barbara, and Marissa in "The Word on the Street".
  • Graceful Ladies Like Purple: Violet, who wears purple almost exclusively. Though this is as much a pun on her name as it is a symbol of her femininity.
  • Graceful Loser: In a showcase of how far she’s come, Storm ends up being this once she’s eliminated in "Not-So-Perfect Storm". This provides a conclusion to her character arc of learning to accept failure.
  • Grand Finale: In grand Total Drama tradition, the final episode, "The Dash for the Cash".
  • Gratuitous Japanese: Serena is an Occidental Otaku, and it shows with the amount of Japanese words she uses in casual conversation. Even her catchphrase, "Nani?", is the Japanese word for "What?".
  • Gratuitous Spanish: Emilia, being from Spain, often uses Spanish words and phrases when she speaks.
    • Her father Alejandro also does this, as seen in "Family Feud".
    • Chris also uses some Gratuitous Spanish during the Mexican-themed challenge in "Mi Cabaña Es Su Cabaña".
  • Green and Mean: When Katherine transforms into her more aggressive feral form, her skin turns ever-so-slightly green.
  • Groin Attack: In "Family Feud", Drew kicks Harold right in the kiwis.
  • Hair of Gold, Heart of Gold: Blond-haired Marlin is by far the most laid-back of the contestants, as well as one of the most kindhearted.
  • Hairstyle Malfunction: In "A Shocking Twist", Lydia's identity as Tina in disguise is revealed when Link knocks off her wig during the dueling-stick challenge.
  • Hair-Trigger Temper: Drew. While at first he seems to be cool-headed and rational, he's revealed to have a nasty temper in "No Business Like Show Business", and his temper ends up getting him booted off in "Campfire Emblem Awake-ening".
  • Happily Adopted: Tina, the adoptive daughter of Chris McLean. While she was originally adopted as a publicity stunt, Chris and Chef eventually grew genuinely fond of her.
  • Happily Married: Most of the married couples in this fic are portrayed as happy and content with each other. However, special mention goes to:
    • Cameron and Lightning, who the narrative takes great pains to emphasize are very happy with each other in spite of their contrasting personalities and the fact that they used to be rivals on Revenge of the Island. In "Aftermath: Double Trouble", Lightning reveals that, even though his father didn't approve of his relationship with Cameron, he continued to stay with Cameron and couldn't be happier because of it. This statement is accented by a kiss between Cameron and Lightning. In "Family Feud", when the parents arrive on a yacht, Lightning is Bridal Carrying Cameron as the latter looks up at him lovingly, and when Lightning and Storm win the "Running in the Family" challenge, Cameron rushes towards Lightning and hugs him, which leads into a makeout session. ("Family Feud" also establishes that Lightning often refers to Cameron by the Affectionate Nickname "Cammy".) And during their video call to Storm in "After the Dive of Shame", they are described as "cuddled up together like the loving couple they were". This is most likely because FlamingMercury5 is very fond of Cameron x Lightning and wishes there were more fanfics depicting them in a romantic relationship.
    • Ezekiel and Izzy, another ship that FlamingMercury5 really likes and wishes had more fics. Ezekiel refers to Izzy multiple times as "my precious", they have three children together, they make out in "Aftermath: Double Trouble", they have a sweet moment of romance when the "Running in the Family" challenge is over in "Family Feud", and in "The Dash for the Cash", it's stated that when they found out Katherine made it to the final five, they celebrated by having sex with each other, and are now expecting a fourth child.
    • And last but certainly not least, Chris and Chef. Chris introduces Chef to the campers as his "very handsome husband", calls him "beautiful" when he's dressed as a geisha in "Reality Shogun", and Chef helps Chris see Tina's side of the story when he gets mad at Tina for disguising herself as Lydia in "A Shocking Twist".
  • Hard-Drinking Party Girl: Marissa is a G-rated version. She's ditzy, carefree, and loves partying and having fun. However, since she's only a teenager, she's never depicted actually consuming alcohol, though some of her character traits do overlap with common traits of drunkenness, such as impulsiveness and inability to drive.
  • Hate Sink: In grand Total Drama first-boot tradition, Morgan. Sure, she does receive some Hidden Depths in "Aftermath: The Next Generation" and seems to have mellowed out in "After the Dive of Shame", but in "Here Come the Sons… And Daughters", she's made to be as unlikeable as possible, with her entitlement, self-centeredness, and refusal to do any work during the statue-building challenge all being highlighted.
  • Haunted House: Mournful Manor, the building that the campers have to solve puzzles to escape in "A Dark and Storm-y Night", is one of these.
  • Heel–Face Turn: Nero starts off as an Evil Genius Overlord Jr., but staying at camp causes him to realize that being good feels much better than being evil. Thus, in "Wild Kat", he decides to renounce evil and become a good guy.
  • Heel Realization: In "She Who Lives By the Sword…", after her crushing defeat in the fencing tournament, Emilia thinks back to the "The Reason You Suck" Speech Katherine delivered before their duel, and realizes that what Katherine said about her being a jerk to the other contestants was true. She then begins to feel intense guilt over how awful she had been to the other campers. Emilia's final Confession Cam illustrates this best:
  • Height Angst: "Aftermath: Blast from the Past" reveals that Cody Jr. is very insecure about how short he is and tries to compensate for it by acting tough.
  • Hereditary Hairstyle:
    • Cody Jr. is the straightest example out of all the TDL campers, as his hair is the exact same color and style as Cody's.
    • Keith and Zack have near-identical hairstyles to Dave and Shawn respectively, the only difference being their hair color.
    • Morgan wears her hair in a half-up-half-down hairstyle with a voluminous bun and two curled tendrils that frame her face, just like her mother Sugar.
  • Hereditary Homosexuality: Both of the campers that have two dads- Storm and Carter- end up in a relationship with someone of the same sex.
  • High-Dive Hijinks: Total Drama Legacy's elimination device is the Dive of Shame, a large diving board located on a cliff on the coast of Pahkitew Island. When campers are eliminated, they have to jump off the Dive of Shame and into the lake below.
  • High Heel Hurt: In "Not-So-Perfect Storm", Storm, who has never worn high heels before, wears a pair of high heels with her blue pantsuit. Naturally, she ends up tripping.
  • Hikikomori: Katherine's defining character trait. Since she saw her father getting harassed in public when she was three years old, she has been terrified of the world outside her family’s farm. Before coming to Pahkitew Island, she hadn’t left her home in years. However, her time at camp helps her come out of her shell and makes her realize that the outside world isn't as hostile as she feared.
  • Hoist by His Own Petard: Drew's defeat is a very literal example. Serena exploits Drew's affinity for planning and strategy by sending him a weapon that requires quick thinking- that being, a time bomb that's about to go off. Naturally, he takes too long to decide where to throw the bomb, and ends up getting blown up.
  • Homemade Flamethrower: Nero reveals that he's built one of these in "Wild Kat". He ends up accidentally burning down his tent with it.
  • Homeschooled Kids: Just like her father Ezekiel, Katherine is this; in fact, Ezekiel is said to be the one who homeschooled her. However, as she reveals in "Nothing To Fear But Fear Itself", the reason her parents decided to homeschool her is not necessarily because her father was also homeschooled- in fact, her mother wanted her to go to public school- but rather because she had a panic attack on the first day of kindergarten due to her intense social phobia, and her parents decided homeschooling was her only choice.
  • Homosexual Reproduction: Storm is a textbook example, as it's established early on in "Here Come The Sons… And Daughters" that Cameron created her in a lab by combining his own DNA with that of his husband Lightning. Later episodes revealed that the process of creating her involved a Uterine Replicator that Cameron invented and an enucleated egg cell implanted with Cameron's DNA. (In addition, according to Word of God, Lightning's sperm was used to fertilize the egg.)
  • Honorary Aunt: Gwen is revealed to be this for Storm, as she was a good friend of Cameron's back on Total Drama All-Stars. Storm even calls her "Auntie Gwen".
  • Horrible Camping Trip: The camping challenge in "Wild Kat" ends up being this for the Modern Mandrills.
  • Hot-Blooded: Storm. As a Passionate Sports Girl, Storm is all about giving 110% and taking on challenges "passionately and aggressively". This trait of hers is emphasized in "The Great Canadian Cook-Off", where she cooks her spaghetti in an incredibly vigorous and aggressive way.
Link: Jeez, lady. Who taught you how to cook? Undyne?
  • Huge Guy, Tiny Girl: Link and Katherine. Link is the tallest of the campers, standing at 7'0", and he and the diminutive Katherine are an Official Couple.
  • Hulk Speak: As in canon, Dakotazoid speaks in this.
  • Humiliation Conga: "She Who Lives By the Sword…" is one for Emilia. After a brutal "The Reason You Suck" Speech from Katherine, not only does she get her beautiful face permanently scarred, she loses the fencing tournament, falls down a hill, breaks several bones on the way down, lands in a pond (leaving her covered in pond scum), has to be placed in a full-body cast, is hit with crushing guilt over all the pain she's caused, has a Villainous BSoD, and gets eliminated.
  • Humongous Mecha: Serena has to pilot one in "Reality Shogun" and defeat an animatronic monster to score a point for her team. She apparently turns out to be pretty good at it, which she attributes to having seen every single episode of both Neon Genesis Evangelion and Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann.
  • Hunk: Lightning, who is very muscular and (at least in his husband Cameron's eyes) very attractive. Not only is Cameron very much in love with him, Serena says that he has "the body of a shounen anime character" in "Family Feud", and his painting in "A Dark and Storm-y Night" depicts him with no shirt.
Serena: You look like a Pillar Man.
  • I Am Not My Father: Drew hates being compared to his father Duncan. However, it's understandable, as not only is Duncan a hardened criminal (who an upstanding Student Council President like Drew would understandably not want to associate with), it's also revealed that he was in prison for most of Drew's childhood.
  • I Am Not Pretty: Even though Katherine is quite pretty (at least according to Link), she doesn't consider herself all that attractive. This is why she gets so flustered when Link calls her beautiful; she's amazed that, of all the girls on the island, he fell for her, the "scrawny, pale, small-breasted shut-in with the thick accent and the frumpy clothes".
  • I Call Him "Mister Happy": Storm insistently refers to her breasts as her "sha-boobies".
  • I Know Karate: In "A Dark and Storm-y Night", when the Modern Mandrills get to a hall with two doors guarded by Crimson and Ennui, Skave and Keith say this:
    Skave: We know karate…
Keith: And we're not afraid to use it!
  • I Know Madden Kombat: During the Food Fight in "The Great Canadian Cook-Off", Storm throws an orange at Emilia "like she was throwing a baseball".
  • I Know Mortal Kombat:
    • Occidental Otaku Serena picked up many of her "mad skills" from watching anime. In "Reality Shogun", she says that she learned how to pilot a Humongous Mecha from watching Neon Genesis Evangelion and Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann. In "Cruel Britannia", she is challenged to ride on a witch's broomstick, which she claims is easy because she's "seen Kiki's Delivery Service 16 times". "Shut Up and Drive" reveals that she learned everything she knows about car-racing from Initial D. And, of course, there's the fact that every time she's in a situation where she needs to move quickly, she does the "Naruto run".
    • Link often claims to have learned how to do things from playing video games that simulate those things. For example, in "Water You Gonna Do?" he states that he knows how to shoot things because he's "played Call of Duty hundreds of times".
  • Immoral Reality Show: Very much downplayed, as Total Drama Legacy is noticeably Lighter and Softer than its source material, but still present, as some of the challenges are pretty cruel and/or way too demanding for the average teenager to reasonably get through.
  • I'm Not Here to Make Friends: As Emilia states in "Not-So-Perfect Storm":
I don't have to "treat others with respect"! This is a reality TV competition, not a preschool! I'm here to win, not get along with people!
  • Important Haircut: After Lydia's secret gets revealed and Emilia gets beaten up by Storm in "A Shocking Twist", Emilia decides to get serious and get mean. To symbolize her newfound drive, she cuts off her long braid, leaving her with shorter hair.
  • Improbable Weapon User: Much like her mother Anne Maria before her, Violet uses her hairspray as a weapon in "Shut Up and Drive".
  • I Need to Go Iron My Dog: When Emilia goes back to her cabin to get an electrical wire in "A Shocking Twist", she tells Chris she needs to go back to her cabin to "take her pills".
  • Insecure Protagonist, Arrogant Antagonist: Katherine, the de facto protagonist of Total Drama Legacy, is a reserved and insecure Shrinking Violet, while Emilia, the Big Bad, is an egotistical and arrogant Proud Beauty.
  • Insufferable Genius: Drew in "The Word on the Street". As Storm puts it:
I swear, that Drew guy is the embodiment of "Um, ACKSHYUALLY…"
  • Insult Backfire: In "Water You Gonna Do?", Jo refers to Skave as "Robin Hood", and while this was meant to be another one of Jo's snarky appellations, Skave took it as a compliment.
  • Internal Reveal: The reveal that Tina and Lydia are the same person in "A Shocking Twist". Lydia was established as Tina in disguise as early as the prologue, but it took until "A Shocking Twist" for her double identity to be revealed to everyone (except for Emilia, who already figured it out in "Did Somebody Say Pancakes").
  • Introdump: The first episode, "Here Come The Sons… And Daughters", has all of the campers introduce themselves to Chris, and by extension, the audience.
  • Introverted Cat Person: Katherine is a Hikikomori, and as revealed in "Reality Shogun", she owns a pet cat named Calliope.
  • Is It Something You Eat?: During the combination-lock puzzle in "A Dark and Storm-y Night", when they get the clue "Ti F Se"note , Carter says "What is 'tifse'? Is it something you eat?"
  • It's All About Me: Morgan, Emilia, and especially Chris are all shown to be very egocentric.
  • It's Raining Men: Just like in Pahkitew Island, the campers all parachute down to the island from a plane in "Here Come The Sons… And Daughters".
  • I Was Beaten by a Girl: Invoked. In "Family Feud", when Sky and Skave are outrunning him and Storm in the race, Lightning is furious and says he's not gonna lose to a girl. Later, when Lightning surpasses her, he says "HA! Lightning knew he wasn't gonna lose to a GIRL!", prompting his daughter Storm to remind him that she's right there.
  • I Was Having Such a Nice Dream: In "Wild Kat", Storm and Link's peaceful sleep is suddenly interrupted by Link's incredibly loud cell phone alarm, which is playing "Solar Sect of Mystic Wisdom~ Nuclear Fusion" from Touhou Chireiden ~ Subterranean Animism. After being awoken, Storm says this in a confessional:
UGH! There I was, on the American women’s volleyball team at the Olympics, ready to receive my gold medal, when all of the sudden, that loud music woke me up!

     J-L
  • Jerkass to One: After her feud with Storm ignites in "Campfire Emblem Awake-ening" but before she Jumps Off The Slippery Slope in "A Shocking Twist", Emilia is this towards Storm.
  • Jerk Jock: Jo. She's a Lesbian Jock, and though she's mellowed out a bit since her time on Total Drama, she still has a very abrasive personality.
  • Joisey: Anne Maria, as in canon, as well as her daughter Violet.
  • Jumping Off the Slippery Slope: The sheer amount of things that go wrong for Emilia in "A Shocking Twist" ends up pushing her towards evil.
  • Karmic Butt-Monkey: Emilia, the haughty and egotistical Big Bad, ends up being subject to a lot of misfortune after she makes it to the merge, culminating in her Humiliation Conga of an elimination episode, "She Who Lives By The Sword…"
  • Kawaiiko: Serena, full stop.
  • Kick Chick: Skave. She uses a kick to break a board in "Reality Shogun", and when a Threatening Shark swims towards the Modern Mandrills' boat in "Water You Gonna Do?", she gives it a kick as it lunges towards her, sending it flying.
  • Kicking Ass in All Her Finery: Serena wears a very pimped-out Sweet Lolita dress, but this doesn't hinder her in any of the physically-demanding challenges.
  • Kick the Dog: Drew's petty antagonism towards Serena once he comes back. Serena has previously been established as one of the sweetest contestants on the show, so Drew's torturing of her is supposed to re-establish his antagonist credentials after a long absence.
  • Kindhearted Cat Lover: Katherine, as established in "Reality Shogun".
  • Kindhearted Simpleton: In spite of his sheer idiocy, Wayne is a genuinely Nice Guy. As Serena says to him in "The Word on the Street":
You may be a baka, but at least you're a kindhearted baka.
    • From what we see of her in the Aftermath episodes, Wayne's mother Lindsay is also an example, as in canon.
  • Knights and Knaves: This is one of the puzzles the campers have to solve to escape Mournful Manor in "A Dark and Storm-y Night". Storm solves it by asking "Which door would the other guard say is the correct door?"
  • Knuckle Cracking:
  • Kung-Fu Kid: Skave.
  • Labcoat of Science and Medicine: Nero wears one.
  • Lady in a Power Suit: Storm’s first fashion-show outfit in "Not-So-Perfect Storm".
Jen: Look at her! She looks like a total #girlboss!
  • Lady in Red: The sultry Femme Fatale Emilia wears primarily red.
  • Lady of War: The graceful yet ruthless Emilia.
  • Lady Swears-a-Lot: Anne Maria, if her letter to Ezekiel is any indication.
  • Latin Lover: Emilia is from Spain, and not only is she very affectionate and romantic towards her girlfriend Lydia/Tina, she's also established on multiple occasions to be drop-dead gorgeous.
  • Lean and Mean: In stark contrast to her mother Sugar, Morgan is very thin. (In fact, when you look at this picture of all the TDL campers in the Total Drama art style, you'll notice that Morgan has the skinniest legs and smallest waist out of all the campers.) Naturally, she's a catty Spoiled Brat.
  • Lesbian Jock: Jo, the "Take-no-prisoners Jock-ette", is shown to be attracted to women, as she's married to Anne Maria.
    • Storm is also an example, though she's technically bisexual (as revealed in "After the Dive of Shame").
  • Life of the Party: Marissa's defining character trait; heck, her label is even "The Party Girl". If there's one thing she loves, it's partying.
  • Lighter and Softer: Compared to the source material, Total Drama Legacy is noticeably less cruel towards its contestants. The challenges are less demanding and less cruel, and the camp is explicitly stated to be more luxurious than Camp Wawanakwa.
  • Like an Old Married Couple: In "Cruel Britannia", after Marlin confesses his feelings for Carter, Carter says in a Confession Cam that, since the two of them are the only boys left in the Cobra cabin and are sleeping in the same room, by the time the show is over, they'll probably be like an old married couple.
  • Like Parent, Like Child: So many examples. If we were to list every example of the Total Drama Legacy kids being like their parents in some way, we'd be here all day.
  • Like Parent, Unlike Child: Tina. Unlike her father Chris, she genuinely cares about the contestants on the show and wants them to feel safe and comfortable. In fact, her involvement is stated to be the reason Total Drama Legacy is Lighter and Softer than previous seasons of Total Drama.
  • Like Parent, Like Spouse:
    • Carter is the son of Owen, a friendly blond-haired guy, and ends up falling for Marlin, a friendly blond-haired guy.
    • Storm's girlfriend Serena is a bespectacled nerd, much like Storm's father Cameron.
  • Limited Wardrobe: Unless they are in a situation that requires them to change clothes (i.e. the aquatic challenge in "Water You Gonna Do?", where they all have to change into their swimsuits) or they're Chris, Chef, Tina, or Emilia, characters are always described as wearing the exact same thing.
  • Lipstick Lesbian: Serena. She loves feminine things, like the color pink, Lolita Fashion, high heels, shoujo anime and manga, cute things, cherry blossoms… and other women.
  • Literal Metaphor:
    • In "Did Somebody Say Pancakes?", Cody Jr., after realizing he still has time left on the clock, eats more pancakes even though he's full, causing him to vomit without even doing the obstacle course. He literally bit off more than he could chew.
    • Lydia's Hairstyle Malfunction in "A Shocking Twist" ends up revealing her identity, surprising both Lydia and everyone around her. She literally had her wig snatched.
  • Living a Double Life: Lydia/Tina. By day she's Lydia, the Nice Girl of mysterious origin who serves as the Classic Cobras' moral center. By night she's Tina, Chris's co-host and the girl in charge of the elimination ceremonies. Tina pulls off the "Lydia" charade using a wig, color contacts, makeup, a wardrobe carefully selected to hide a scar on her right knee that Chris knows she has, and alterations to her posture and manner of speech to make her seem like a different person.
  • Locked into Strangeness: In "Virtual Royale-ity", Drew develops a white skunk stripe in his hair due to repeated electric shocks. This is a Call-Back to what happens to Lightning in "Brain vs. Brawn: The Ultimate Showdown". Lightning himself even states in "The Dash for the Cash" that what happened to Drew gave him a serious case of "day jaw food".
  • LOL, 69: In "No Business Like Show Business", when Chef announces that the combined total of all the points the Classic Cobras earned in the talent show is 69 points, Marlin says "Nice." and he and Carter laugh.
  • Lots of Luggage: Morgan is said to be carrying "several bags of luggage" when she is introduced in "Here Come The Sons… And Daughters".
  • Loser Son of Loser Dad: Nero was deliberately not invited to be on Total Drama Legacy because his mother Scarlett tried to blow up Pahkitew Island with everyone still on it and is thus The Dreaded to everyone associated with Total Drama.
    • Serena is a downplayed example, as only one person- Drew- judges her for the actions of her father Harold.
  • Lovable Jock:
  • Love at First Sight: Link falls for Katherine the moment he first lays eyes on her.

     M-O
  • Mad Scientist: Nero’s defining character trait. His label is even "the Mad Scientist".
  • Makeup Is Evil: Big Bad Emilia seems to be very fond of makeup. In "Campfire Emblem Awake-ening", Storm says Emilia "can't even leave [her] cabin without putting on aggressively winged eyeliner", and in "Not-So-Perfect Storm", she's said to be very more skilled with makeup than any of the other campers. In addition, her character art consistently shows her wearing red lipstick and dark eyeshadow.
  • Malaproper: Oh so many examples. Characters using a similar-sounding word instead of the correct word is a common Running Gag used to show stupidity in this fic. Most of these examples involve Wayne, Lightning, or Lindsay.
    • "Campfire Emblem Awake-ening" has Wayne say that his "cicada rhythms"note  are out-of-wack as a result of staying up so long.
    • When he gets voted off and has to take the Dive of Shame in "A Dark and Storm-y Night", Wayne says "CANNIBAL!"note  as he jumps into the water.
    • In "Aftermath: Double Trouble", when Jo compares Wayne to Lightning, Lightning replies "Sha-please! You can’t possibly compare Wayne to the Lightning! He’s like a packet of instant noodles, and I’m like flaming yawnnote ." After Lightning clarifies that he's referring to "that fancy steak that rich people eat", Lindsay and Wayne then exclaim that they both love "flaming yawn".
    • When Sugar sees the pizza Keith made in "The Great Canadian Cook-Off", she says "Mmm, pizza! Bone apple teanote !" Later in the same episode, she refers to spaghetti as "pasketti".
    • In "Family Feud", Lightning refers to Izzy as a "cycle path"note .
    • In "Aftermath: Blast from the Past", Lindsay sees a video of Cody Jr. dressed as a tomato and exclaims "Look! Cody Jr.’s dressed as a potato!"
    • In "After the Dive of Shame", Wayne says "a good run is really refrigeratingnote ."
    • In "Aftermath: Endgame", Lindsay refers to Serena as a "precious synonym roll"note .
    • And finally, in "The Dash for the Cash", Lightning says that when he saw Drew develop a white streak in his hair due to repeated electric shocks, he got some serious "day jaw food"note .
  • Male Frontal Nudity: Carter, in "Campfire Emblem Awake-ening". All of the other campers (except for Marlin) are disgusted when they see him sleepwalking naked.
  • Mama Bear: Leshawna. When Drew states his plan to destroy Serena in "Aftermath: The Next Generation", Leshawna responds with "Oh, you BETTER not be messing with my Serena!"
  • Manipulative Bastard: Both Emilia and Drew use their skill at manipulating people to make things go their way.
  • Mark of Shame: The scar Katherine leaves on Emilia's face in "She Who Lives By the Sword…" is meant to serve as this, according to Katherine herself.
May that scar forever serve as a reminder of your cruel actions. Each day from now on, when you look in the mirror, may you see that scar across your face and reflect on how cruel you have been. Perhaps this blow to your outer beauty will teach you to care more about your inner beauty.
  • Martial Arts Headband: Serena gives one to Storm at the end of "The Word On the Street". It has a rising sun and the Japanese word for "lightning", inazuma (稲妻), on it. She's still wearing it in "After the Dive of Shame", and Cameron and Lightning take notice; Cameron compares it to Commando Zoey's headband, and Lightning says she looks like The Karate Kid.
  • Masculine–Feminine Gay Couple:
  • Masculine Girl, Feminine Boy: Skave and Keith. Skave is tomboyish, athletic, fierce, and competitive, while Keith is sensitive, neurotic, romantic, and easily scared.
  • Master Archer: Skave is very skilled at archery, as shown in "Cruel Britannia" where she splits an arrow with an arrow of her own.
  • Master Swordswoman: Skave, whose label is even "The Swordswoman". Her skill with the blade is brought up on numerous occasions, and eventually leads to her taking first place in the fencing challenge in "She Who Lives By the Sword…"
  • Meaningful Name:
    • "Marissa" means "of the sea", and "Marlin" is a type of fish. Considering Bridgette and Geoff are both surfers, their children having ocean-themed names is quite fitting.
    • "Emilia" means "rival", which fits well with how she's The Rival to Storm and makes several enemies during her stay at camp.
    • Storm's real name, Helen, can mean "St. Elmo's fire", a natural phenomenon in which electricity surrounds a pointed object. This befits her association with electricity.
    • Morgan is named after Morgan le Fay, a powerful sorceress from Arthurian Legend. This is a fitting name for the daughter of Leonard, who legitimately thought he was a wizard and could do magic.
    • Nero is named after Emperor Nero, who, among other things, had a terrible relationship with his mother Agrippina (which led to him having her killed) and famously played the lyre while Rome was burning. This reflects how Nero has an incredibly strained relationship with his mother Scarlett and eventually gets eliminated for burning down his own tent during a camping trip. "Nero" is also Italian for "black", which fits with his blue-black hair.
  • Meditating Under a Waterfall: Katherine is challenged to do this in "Reality Shogun".
  • Mellow Fellow: Marlin. In contrast to his obnoxious older sister Marissa, Marlin is incredibly relaxed and never loses his cool.
  • Men Are Uncultured: In "No Business Like Show Business", many of the boys find Drew's act in the talent show- a soliloquy from Hamlet- to be very boring. Chris also finds it boring, and gives it a low score.
    • In addition, when Drew tells Courtney about this later, Courtney mentioned that she once took Duncan to the opera for their anniversary, and he complained the whole time.
Duncan: You call this a performance? Where’s the pyrotechnics? The electric guitars? The cool stunts? And why is it all in Italian?
  • The Millstone: Morgan. In "Here Come The Sons… And Daughters", she doesn't put in any work for her team during the statue-building challenge, and ends up hindering them instead.
  • Minor Injury Overreaction: The bread and butter of Drew's playstyle in "Virtual Royale-ity".
AAAAH! My health is at 65%! That’s almost 50%, which is almost 25%, which is almost 0%! I must find a health pack!
  • Mirror Reveal: When Drew develops a white skunk stripe in his hair due to repeated electric shocks, Chris, Tina, and Sam comment on it, and Drew is confused as to what they're talking about. Tina then hands Drew a mirror, and Drew sees the white stripe running through his hair, causing him to scream at the top of his lungs.
  • Mistakes Are Not the End of the World: The lesson that Storm has to learn in "Nothing To Fear But Fear Itself". In that episode, it's revealed that Storm's greatest fear is getting anything below a C+ on a test. Because Storm was blessed with incredible physical and mental strength, she grew up only knowing success, and never learned that failure is natural and a part of life. After failing a mock test designed to trick her as part of the "Phobia Factor" challenge, Storm breaks down crying and fails to conquer her fear. Once the challenge is over, Serena comforts Storm, reassuring her that failure is a part of life and a single mistake doesn't diminish her status as a genius. It's thanks to Serena's encouraging words that Storm learns to accept failure, which results in her taking her loss gracefully when she gets eliminated in "Not-So-Perfect Storm".
  • Momma's Boy: Drew. He adores his mother Courtney, and is very close to her. Especially when compared to his relationship with his father Duncan, whom he dislikes and hates being compared to.
  • Moon-Landing Hoax: Zack ends up rambling about this instead of performing during the talent show in "No Business Like Show Business", which results in him getting the lowest score of all the participants and getting voted out.
  • Morality Chain: Lydia, to Emilia. In "A Shocking Twist", Emilia states that Lydia is incredibly dear to her, more than anyone has ever been to her before, and that she couldn't bear to lose her. Thus, when Lydia's true identity is revealed and she gets eliminated later in the episode, Emilia ends up Jumping Off the Slippery Slope and becomes merciless.
  • Morality Pet: Tina, to Chris. Though Chris typically doesn't care about others, especially teenagers, Tina is the one exception.
  • My Beloved Smother: Sierra. Since her teen self is already shown to be a very motherly person (considering how she constantly adopts baby animals), it makes sense that she'd be very smothering towards her son Cody Jr. She constantly treats Cody Jr. like he's still a little kid, and naturally, ends up embarrassing him a lot.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: After her Humiliation Conga and subsequent Heel Realization in "She Who Lives By The Sword…", Emilia makes one last Confession Cam, in which she simply says "What have I done?"
  • Mythology Gag: "The Word on the Street" is one big Mythology Gag to the Canadian version of Skatoony, which had guest appearances by Total Drama characters. It's a Parody Episode that imitates a typical Skatoony episode as closely as possible, complete with Tina and Chris playing the roles of Chudd Chudders and The Earl.
  • Naked People Are Funny: Just like his father Owen, Carter ends up sleepwalking naked in "Campfire Emblem Awake-ening".
  • Named After Somebody Famous: Lovable Jock Wayne is named after legendary hockey player Wayne Gretzky.
  • Named by the Adaptation: There are several instances where FlamingMercury5's headcanons about the campers' full names are incorporated into the story.
    • In regards to first names, "Cruel Britannia" reveals that Topher's name is short for Christopher, and "Not-So-Perfect Storm" reveals that Brick's real name is Gunther.
    • In regards to surnames, 8 campers have their surnames stated in the fic itself. If one puts aside the 3 of those whose surnames have basis in canon (Serena McGradynote , Emilia Burromuertonote , and Storm Jackson-Wilkinsnote ), one can use these to figure out the surnames of at least one of their parents. Thus, it can be inferred that Duncan's surname is Byrnes, Ezekiel's surname is Hoffmann, Leonard's is Drake, Mike's is Valerio, Jo's is Maynard, and Anne Maria's is Capelli.
  • Names to Run Away from Really Fast: Nero, a Mad Scientist and Overlord Jr. who comes to the island with the intention to do evil, is named after the infamous Roman emperor of the same name.
  • Nerdy Bully: Drew. He's an intellectual Student Council President, and yet, he's still a massive bully towards Serena.
  • Nerd Glasses: Serena ("the Weeaboo") and Link ("the Gamer") both wear glasses.
  • Never Bareheaded: Katherine is rarely, if ever, seen without her toque. In fact, when she has to take it off for a challenge in "The Word on the Street", she's visibly upset about it.
  • Nice Guy:
    • In regards to the campers: Barbara, Wayne, Tophella, Marlin, Lydia, Link, Carter, Serena, and Skave.
    • In regards to the parents: Owen, Ella, Mike, Zoey, Sam, Cameron, Lindsay, Sky, and Ezekiel.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Rivals!: During the go-kart race in "Shut Up and Drive", Storm and Emilia are too concerned with trying to beat each other that they don't focus on trying to win, enabling Link to surpass them both and win the race.
  • Nice Mean And In Between: The three hosts: Tina (nice), Chris (mean), and Chef (in-between).
  • The Nicknamer: Jo, as in canon. In "Water You Gonna Do?", she gives nicknames to all of the campers participating in the challenge:
  • Nightmare Fetishist: Nero seems to be one. In "A Dark and Storm-y Night" when he sees the haunted house that their challenge will take place, he is incredibly enthusiastic about it. In "Cruel Britannia", when he draws Frankenstein from the bookshelf during the literature challenge, his face lights up, and when Chris says he'll have to do the "Creature-Creating Challenge", which involves sewing together a monster from foam body parts, Nero exclaims that creating a monster is something he's always wanted to do. And in "Mi Cabaña Es Su Cabaña", when he has to cut out a cloth heart from a doll at the top of an Aztec pyramid, he says in a confessional that "now [he gets] to perform an Aztec sacrifice! How cool is that?"
  • Ninja Run: Serena runs like this. Since this type of run was popularized by Naruto, this is yet another way of establishing that she's an Occidental Otaku.
  • Nobody Touches the Hair: As Sierra says in "Aftermath: Double Trouble", Violet's dancing skills are rivaled only by her obsession with her own hair. As a result, she's very meticulous about not getting it messed up. When Chef hits her with a fan in "Reality Shogun", she exclaims "Watch the hair!". Later, in "Nothing to Fear But Fear Itself", she refuses to dunk her head into a fish tank not only because she's afraid of fish, but also because she doesn't want to mess up her hairdo.
  • Non-Action Guy: Carter, due to his complete incompetence in regards to physical activity.
  • Non-Gameplay Elimination: In "Don't Bug Me", Carter is eliminated not by getting voted off, but by getting disqualified, due to the fact that Carter didn't catch his own bug in the challenge.
  • Noodle Incident: Caroline Chen's 13th birthday party, which Marlin brings up to Marissa in "Shut Up and Drive". All we know is that an incident occurred involving a go-kart accident, and Caroline still hasn't forgiven Marissa for it.
  • Non Sequitur, *Thud*: When Drew gets shocked with electricity and gets knocked out in "Virtual Royale-ity", he says "No more brownies for me, Mother…" before falling face-first on the floor.
  • Not in the Face!: As is established early on in "Reality Shogun", Emilia hates being hit in her beautiful face. This makes sense; after all, "not the face" is the Burromuerto family code. It makes her ultimate fate- having her beautiful face scarred- all the more karmic.
  • Nuclear Mutant: Dakotazoid, as in canon.
  • Obsessed with Food: Carter. Most of his lines are related to food or cooking.
  • Occidental Otaku: Serena's defining character trait; heck, her label is "The Weeaboo". She's a Canadian obsessed with Japanese culture, especially anime and manga, and this is made very clear from the moment she's introduced. She dresses in Lolita Fashion, peppers her speech with Gratuitous Japanese, constantly makes anime references, refers to others by Japanese Honorifics, runs like Naruto, and picked up several of her "mad skills" from watching anime.
    • In "Aftermath: Endgame", when it comes time for Serena to get some video calls from her fans, one of them is Ethan, a greasy-haired, bespectacled anime fanboy who wears a Naruto headband and owns a dakimakura.
  • Odango Hair: Serena wears her hair like this, in homage to Sailor Moon.
  • Odd Friendship:
  • Oh, Crap!: Whenever a camper is about to be eliminated, they often have this type of reaction.
  • Older Than They Look: Marissa is actually the oldest TDL camper, but you would never guess it just looking at her.
  • Omniglot: Katherine is said to be fluent in five languages.
  • Once Done, Never Forgotten:
    • Carter will never let Emilia live down the Forceful Kiss she gave him on the first day of camp.
    • Drew will never forgive Harold for getting his mother eliminated and accidentally squishing his father's tarantula, even though he wasn't actually present for either event.
    • Nero will never live down accidentally touching Storm's breasts.
  • The One Guy: Drew, to the rest of the final five.
  • One-Shot Character: The characters who call into the Aftermaths in "Aftermath: The Next Generation" and "Aftermath: Endgame", and the siblings introduced in "After the Dive of Shame".
  • One-Steve Limit: Adhered to for pretty much the entire cast- not just in regards to each other, but in regards to Total Drama as a whole. Names were specificially chosen to not cause any overlap with previous contestants. However, there are some debatable cases:
    • Cody Jr., of course, shares his name with his father Cody.
    • Keith shares his name with Sky's ex-boyfriend, but to be fair, Sky's ex-boyfriend is a bit character who is mentioned once but never actually seen.
    • Josh, the Tinfoil Hat-wearing Conspiracy Theorist from "Aftermath: The Next Generation", shares his name with two other bit characters: the mutated intern from Revenge of the Island, and the Celebrity Manhunt host. Though, to be fair, "Josh" is a fairly common name.
  • One Thing Led to Another: How Ezekiel and Izzy describe the process that led to Izzy's fourth pregnancy.
  • Only in Florida: In "Aftermath: The Next Generation", Tinfoil Hat-wearing Conspiracy Theorist Josh (who is one of Zack's fans that video-calls him) is said to be from Florida.
  • Only Known by Their Nickname: Storm (whose real name is Helen), Skave (whose real name is Hana), and Tophella (whose real name is Felicia).
  • Only Sane Man: Drew feels he is this to Wayne and Marissa in "Campfire Emblem Awake-ening".
  • "Open!" Says Me: In "A Dark and Storm-y Night", Wayne tries to open a locked door by punching it.
  • Opposites Attract:
  • Out of the Frying Pan:
In that moment, I was caught between two raging storms. One outside the tent, and one inside of it.
    • In "Virtual Royale-ity", Skave sets Drew on fire with a flamethrower, and to extinguish the fire, Drew runs into a pond… only for Katherine to jump out of the pond and attack him.
  • Overlord Jr.: Nero, to Max and Scarlett. Subverted in that he eventually has a Heel–Face Turn in "Wild Kat".
  • Ow, My Body Part!: In "The Word on the Street", when Emilia lands on top of Cody Jr., he screams "MY LEG!".
    • Speaking of Emilia, another example occurs in "She Who Lives By The Sword..." when Emilia's face is scarred. When she finds out about it, she says "My face! My beautiful face!"

     P-S
  • Paranoia Gambit: How Drew gets Serena eliminated in "The Word on the Street". After winning invincibility in the challenge (ensuring no one can vote for him), he beats up Serena and says that it's only a taste of what he's going to do to her the next day, which he says will result in her having to be medically evacuated. He then says that the only way for her to avoid this fate is if she was voted off, which convinces Serena's friends to all vote her off and Serena to vote for herself out of concern for her own safety.
  • Parent-Child Team:
    • Sierra and Cody Jr., the new hosts of the Aftermath.
    • The challenge in "Family Feud" revolves around this, as it involves each camper being handcuffed to one of their parents and running a race across the island.
  • Parental Hypocrisy: Even though Courtney acted very similarly when she was on Total Drama, she disapproves of her son Drew's volatile nature on multiple occasions. However, this isn't a bad thing; rather, it shows how much she's matured in all the time that has passed since she was on the show.
  • Parody Episode: "The Word on the Street". It's a parody of Skatoony, featuring all of Skatoony's hallmarks: the two hosts (with Tina playing the role of Chudd Chudders and Chris playing the role of The Earl), the Quiz Block, the three rounds followed by the Quiz Champ Challenge, the first round being "Bang-On or Bogus", the "You're Outta Here" song, the time limits being based on things happening in the audience, Earl's Halfway Deal, the way the contestants are ejected from the game- heck, the second- and third-round challenges, "Wear in the World" and "Egg Noggin", are ripped straight from the show. Even its name is a reference to Skatoony's Theme Tune (the first line of which is "Skatoony! It's the word on the street!")
  • Passionate Sports Girl: Storm. A strong and athletic tomboy, Storm is said to enjoy playing volleyball and softball, and is often shown working out. She's also the fastest runner out of all the campers. Though, to be fair, her father Lightning is a professional football player, so it's natural that she'd want to follow in her father's footsteps and be an all-star athlete.
    • Skave is also one, much like her mother Sky. In addition to being really good at martial arts, fencing, and archery, she does gymnastics and is on her school's track team.
  • Percussive Maintenance: In "A Dark and Storm-y Night", Wayne says in a confessional that "there has never been a problem in [his] life that [he] couldn't solve by punching something", and one example that he gives is punching his computer when it doesn't work.
  • Performance Anxiety: Katherine gets some in "No Business Like Show Business", which she manages to quell by just focusing on the music she's playing.
  • Perky Goth: Gwen, as in canon.
  • Perverse Sexual Lust: Serena apparently has a crush on Momo Yaoyorozu.
  • Pervert Revenge Mode: When Nero accidentally touches Storm's sha-boobies, Storm reacts violently, punching him in the face and shoving him out of the tent.
  • Pet the Dog: Drew may be ruthless and manipulative, but he genuinely cares about his mother Courtney.
  • Phoneaholic Teenager: 13-year-old Cody Jr. is a Rare Male Example. Due to his obsession with memes and social media, he's always on his cell phone. In fact, when he gets eliminated in "Did Somebody Say Pancakes?", the first thing he does is pull out his cell phone and start an AMA on Reddit.
  • Picky Eater: Morgan is implied to be this, in contrast to her mother Sugar.
  • Pimped-Out Dress: The Renaissance-era dress Emilia wears in "Not-So-Perfect Storm" is a textbook example. It's said to have slashed sleeves, gold accents, gems sewn onto it, an elaborate partlet underneath, and so many layers that she ends up fainting in the summer heat while wearing it.
  • Pink Girl, Blue Boy: Marissa and Marlin. Marissa wears neon pink shorts, a black shirt with pink lettering on it, and neon pink sunglasses; by contrast, Marlin wears light blue shorts, a white shirt with a navy blue anchor on it, and navy blue flip-flops.
  • Pink Means Feminine: Hyper-feminine Kawaiiko Serena wears pink almost exclusively.
  • Pint-Sized Powerhouse: Katherine. She's one of the shortest members of the cast, and as Feral Kat, she's a fierce and ruthless fighter.
  • Platonic Life-Partners: Storm and Link. Despite being different sexes and both being attracted to the opposite sex (since Storm is revealed to be bisexual in "After the Dive of Shame"), the two of them become very close friends- and only friends- as a result of their alliance. Though the lack of romantic attraction between them may have to do with the fact that when they forge their alliance, they're both already in committed relationships (Link with Katherine, and Storm with Serena).
  • Polar Opposite Twins: Skave and Keith. Skave is daring, courageous, and never hesitates to take on a challenge, while Keith is neurotic, fearful, and hesitant about doing risky things.
  • The Pollyanna: Tophella, who always sees the positive side of everything.
  • Pop-Cultural Osmosis Failure:
    • A lot of Serena's anime references end up getting lost on her fellow campers.
    • In "Shut Up and Drive", Chris compares Emilia to Dick Dastardly (due to spending most of the car-racing challenge trying to destroy Storm instead of focusing on winning), and none of the campers understand what he's talking about.
Anyone here seen Wacky Races? (Beat) No one? Man, I really am getting old.
  • Pop-Cultured Badass: Serena, who kicks butt, takes names, and makes numerous anime references while doing so.
  • Portmanteau Couple Name: "Aftermath: Endgame" gives us "Storena" (Storm/Serena).
  • Power Trio:
    • Chris, Chef, and Tina.
    • Team Easy Breezy (Storm, Serena, and Katherine).
    • Skave, Keith, and Tophella.
    • Drew, Wayne, and Marissa.
  • Previously on…: As is typical of Total Drama, every episode begins with Chris recapping the events of the last episode.
  • Produce Pelting: Drew gets pelted with food twice: once in "No Business Like Show Business", when the boys throw food at him during his Shakespearean soliloquy, and once in "Campfire Emblem Awake-ening", when his teammates pelt him with marshmallows.
  • Proud Beauty: Emilia's defining character trait. She's drop-dead gorgeous, and she's well aware of that- heck, she usually responds to compliments with "I know."
  • Psycho Ex-Girlfriend: Anne Maria is a downplayed example. Ever since Ezekiel kidnapped her and gave her a fake diamond, he has been her Sitcom Arch-Nemesis. She constantly makes derisive remarks about him in the Aftermath episodes, and in "Family Feud", it's revealed that she wrote Ezekiel a letter filled with profanities solely out of spite.
  • Pun-Based Title: A lot of the episode titles are puns.
    • "Here Come The Sons… And Daughters" is a pun on the Beatles song "Here Comes The Sun".
    • "Reality Shogun" is a portmanteau of "reality show" and "shogun", befitting the episode's Japanese-themed challenge.
    • "Campfire Emblem Awake-ening" is a pun on Fire Emblem: Awakening.
    • "A Dark And Storm-y Night" is a pun on the name of one of the episode's prominently-featured characters, Storm, and the phrase "It Was a Dark and Stormy Night", which is commonly associated with horror (since the episode's challenge takes place in a Haunted House).
    • "Cruel Britannia" is a pun on the British patriotic song "Rule, Britannia!", befitting the episode's British-themed challenge.
    • The episode that introduces Katherine's feral form is called "Wild Kat".
    • The episode with an aquatic challenge is called "Water You Gonna Do?".
    • The episode with the bug-catching contest is called "Don't Bug Me".
    • Storm's elimination episode is called, fittingly enough, "Not-So-Perfect Storm".
    • And finally, "Virtual Royale-ity" is a pun on "virtual reality" and "battle royale", since the challenge in that episode involves a VR Battle Royale Game.
  • Punny Name:
    • Storm is established on multiple occasions to be skilled in multiple areas. She's a "perfect Storm".
    • Marlin the Surfer Dude shares his name with a type of fish.
    • In addition to being the name of a flower, Violet's name may also be a pun on ultraviolet radiation, which is what gives people suntans.
  • Punctuated! For! Emphasis!: The Title Scream at the beginning and end of each episode is always written this way.
  • Queen Incognito: Tina, the co-host of the show, disguises herself as a contestant (under the alias of "Lydia") so she could see how harshly Chris treats his contestants.
  • Quirky Household: The Hoffmanns seem to be this, judging by their behavior in "After the Dive of Shame".
  • Quit Your Whining: When Morgan complains about having to parachute down because she doesn't want to ruin her hair, Emilia says "Suck it up, princess. This is Total Drama, not a beauty pageant."
  • Rage Breaking Point: The normally docile Katherine gets vicious when she has to fence against Emilia in "She Who Lives By the Sword…", delivering a brutal "The Reason You Suck" Speech and not holding back when dueling her. During the fight between Katherine and Emilia, Katherine is described as "fueled only by rage and venegance", and her strikes come so quickly that Emilia is only able to get one hit in.
  • Rank Scales with Asskicking: Drew. Student Council President, and absolutely ruthless in a fight. He even ends up making it to the final three!
  • Rapid-Fire Fisticuffs: The Thundercrack Fist, an attack used by Storm in "A Shocking Twist" that consists of a barrage of rapid-fire punches.
  • Raw Eggs Make You Stronger: Lampshaded and exploited in "The Word on the Street". The third round in the Skatoony game the contestants have to play is "Egg Noggin", in which contestants have to smash eggs against their head for every question they get right. Some of these eggs are raw, and some are hard-boiled. At this point in the game, the two remaining quizzers are Storm and Drew, and throughout the round, while Drew is careful about not picking raw eggs, Storm exercises no caution whatsoever.
Storm: Honestly, I don’t care if I get a raw egg. I’ve seen Rocky. Drinking raw eggs is supposed to make you strong.
Drew: We all know the cliché of people drinking raw eggs to get stronger. And I assume Storm knows this as well. This is something I can exploit. Unlike Storm, I don’t want to get a raw egg, so I’ll be more cautious about avoiding it.
  • Really Gets Around: Marissa is a kid-friendly variant, as she claims to have hooked up with a lot of people over the course of her life in "A Dark and Storm-y Night".
Years of playing Spin the Bottle and Seven Minutes In Heaven at sleepovers and parties has left me with a long list of people who I’ve at least kissed. Of all genders.
  • "The Reason You Suck" Speech: Katherine gives a brutal one to Emilia in "She Who Lives By the Sword…".
  • Red and Black and Evil All Over: Big Bad Emilia wears an outfit that is exclusively red and black.
  • Redemption Equals Death: Well, Redemption Equals Elimination. Nero's Heel–Face Turn is finalized in "Wild Kat", the episode in which he gets eliminated, and Emilia has her Heel Realization after placing last in the fencing challenge (which ensures that she'll be the one who's eliminated that night) in "She Who Lives By the Sword…".
  • Reference Overdosed: Very much so. FlamingMercury5 is very fond of referential humor, and it crops up a lot in her writing.
  • Reformed Bully: Lightning. In Revenge of the Island, he was a Jerk Jock, but now, he's a caring family man.
  • Rejection Ritual: As in canon, Total Drama Legacy features a ritualized expulsion of players who have been Voted Off the Island. The elimination device this season is a diving board called the Dive of Shame.
  • Revenge by Proxy: After Drew hears that Harold was the one who got Courtney eliminated, he decides to get revenge on Harold by continuously torturing his daughter Serena.
  • Revenge Myopia: Even though Harold's actions towards Courtney and Duncan were payback for Duncan bullying him, Drew doesn't care and still wants revenge on Harold.
  • RevengeSVP: Because Scarlett attempted to blow up the island with everyone still on it, her son Nero deliberately wasn't invited to be on Total Drama Legacy. However, he shows up anyway.
  • The Rival: Emilia, to Storm.
  • Road Runner vs. Coyote: "Family Feud" has such a chase between Drew and Serena. Drew even compares them to Tom and Jerry.
  • Road-Sign Reversal: In "Family Feud", Drew sees a sign that says "DO NOT FEED THE ANIMALS", turns it around, draws an arrow in the opposite direction of the one the racers are trying to go in, and writes the words "ANIME CONVENTION" on the sign. This is meant to be a trap to screw over Serena, and it would have worked, if not for Leshawna reminding Serena that no one would set up an anime convention in the middle of the Canadian wilderness because "barely anyone would show up", and that it has to be a trick.
  • Romantic Rain: In "Wild Kat", Emilia and Lydia get stuck in a tent together while it's raining, as do Carter and Marlin. This, of course, leads to them getting romantic with each other.
  • Running Gag:
  • Sadistic Game Show: Downplayed, due to Tina's insistence on making the show more merciful, but still present.
  • Sassy Black Woman: Leshawna, as in canon.
    • Storm is also an example, albeit a downplayed one. She's feisty, isn't afraid to insult someone when they're being disrespectful (especially if that someone is Emilia), and is incredibly self-confident.
  • Satellite Love Interest: Keith and Tophella are a rare example of two characters being Satellite Love Interests for each other. While they aren't quite The Dividual (and Keith actually ends up making it pretty far after Tophella's elimination), their primary character trait seems to be how hopelessly in love they are. It's really telling that their labels are "The Love-Struck Boy" and "The Love-Struck Girl" respectively.
Link: Those two never do anything without each other. They're like the Ice Climbers in Super Smash Bros..
  • Savvy Guy, Energetic Girl: Drew and Marissa are a platonic example, and Ezekiel and Izzy are a romantic example.
  • Scary Black Man: Chef Hatchet, as in canon.
  • Scary Stinging Swarm: In "Don't Bug Me", Emilia disturbs a beehive and ends up getting stung by a swarm of bees.
  • Screw the Rules, I Have Connections!: After Drew's elimination, he takes advantage his status as the son of a lawyer, and convinces his mother to sue Chris McLean until he lets Drew back on the show. It works.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: After falling victim to Drew's Paranoia Gambit, Serena votes herself off the island for the sake of her own safety.
  • Science Foils: The Modern Mandrills' two dueling brainiacs, Storm and Nero, could be considered this. While both of them are very knowledgeable about science, Storm's expertise seems to be in biology, while Nero's expertise seems to be in mechanical engineering. Storm is also a more realistic take on a Teen Genius, being a straight-A student who picked up most of her scientific knowledge through reading and studying (rather than experimentation), while Nero is more akin to Dexter or Jimmy Neutron; a Child Prodigy who does experiments and creates inventions in his spare time. In addition, while Nero isn't very athletic and doesn't have many skills that aren't science-related, Storm is an Academic Athlete. Their personalities also contrast each other; Storm behaves more like a normal teenage girl, while Nero is a more quirky Mad Scientist.
  • Season Finale: "The Dash for the Cash".
  • Security Cling:
    • In "A Dark and Storm-y Night", Keith and Tophella hug each other as they descended into the basement of Mournful Manor.
    • When Serena sees a centipede in "Nothing to Fear But Fear Itself", she jumps into Storm's arms.
  • Sensitive Guy and Manly Man: Carter and Marlin. Carter is a Non-Action Guy who enjoys cooking and reading, while Marlin is a more active and athletic Surfer Dude.
  • Shamu Fu: The cannons used in "Water You Gonna Do?" shoot fish. Specifically, the Classic Cobras' cannon shoots "killer bass", and the Modern Mandrills' cannon shoots "floating salmon".
  • Shared Family Quirks:
    • Storm shares her father Lightning's "sha-" Verbal Tic.
    • Katherine, much like her father Ezekiel, has a thick Canadian accent and a tendency to say "eh" a lot.
    • Wayne, just like his mother Lindsay, has a tendency to get people's names wrong.
    • Marlin and Marissa both tend to call people "dude" or "brah", much like their father Geoff.
    • In a more subtle example, Cody Jr. spends much of his time online and uses internet lingo in casual conversation, just like his mother Sierra. However, said lingo is updated; instead of early 2010s internet lingo like "LOL" and "OMG", Cody Jr. uses late 2010s-early 2020s internet lingo like "based" and "bruh moment".
    • Carter has a tendency to sleepwalk naked, just like his father Owen.
  • Shipper on Deck:
    • Barbara ships Link and Katherine from the moment she finds out they're together, and "Aftermath: The Next Generation" shows she also thinks Lydia/Emilia and Keith/Tophella have great chemistry.
    • In both "Cruel Britannia" and "Shut Up and Drive", Serena says that she thinks Lydia and Emilia make a very cute couple.
    • "Aftermath: Endgame" reveals that Sierra is one for Storm/Serena.
Awww! You and your girlfriend are just so CUTE TOGETHER! I totally ship it! Storena forever!
  • Shock Stick: The Doom Stick in "A Shocking Twist".
  • Shoo Out the Clowns: Cody Jr., Zack, Wayne, and Marissa are all static characters with no romance subplots that mainly exist to be funny. All of them are eliminated by "Nothing To Fear But Fear Itself".
  • Shorter Means Smarter: Mad Scientist Nero is the shortest Total Drama Legacy camper.
  • Shout-Out: Too many to count.
  • Shrinking Violet: Katherine, due to her background as a Hikikomori. She comes out of her shell as time goes on, though.
  • The Shut-In: Katherine, of course; in fact, her label is "The Shut-In".
  • Sibling Rivalry: Emilia is revealed to have one with her sister Raquel in "After the Dive of Shame".
  • Sibling Team: Skave and Keith.
  • Sibling Yin-Yang: Marlin and Marissa. Marissa is an impulsive and obnoxious Genki Girl, and Marlin is a level-headed and docile Mellow Fellow.
  • Sickeningly Sweethearts: Keith and Tophella. The two of them are to romantic relationships what Katie and Sadie were to platonic relationships: they were introduced as having already had a close relationship with each other, are pretty much inseparable, often go on and on about how much they care about each other, and when one of them gets eliminated, the other doesn't really have much to do until their own elimination.
  • Sick Episode: In "The Great Canadian Cook-Off", Chris gets sick and is unable to host the show. Therefore, Tina takes over his duties as host.
  • Silk Hiding Steel: As elegant as Emilia is, she's also very ruthless.
  • Single Woman Seeks Good Man: The reason why Katherine falls for Link is because he's consistently nice to her and is the first guy to call her beautiful.
  • A Sinister Clue: It's revealed in "She Who Lives By the Sword…" that Drew is left-handed.
  • Sitcom Arch-Nemesis: Ezekiel, to Anne Maria. Those who have seen Revenge of the Island will know that Ezekiel was an Abhorrent Admirer to Anne Maria, but even though it’s been years since ROTI and Ezekiel is now Happily Married to Izzy, Anne Maria still hates him.
  • Slapstick After the merge, Emilia ends up suffering a lot of Amusing Injuries. In "Family Feud", she trips over a branch and falls flat on her face, and later has Alejandro land directly on top of her. In "Don't Bug Me", she gets stung by a swarm of bees. In "Not-So-Perfect Storm", she gets drenched with water while wearing a fancy dress and a full face of makeup. And in "She Who Lives By the Sword…" she goes tumbling down a hill, hits several stray rocks and bushes, lands in a pond, and gets Covered in Gunge.
  • Sleazy Politician: Drew is a Student Council President variant. He's a slimy, unpleasant Jerkass who tends to cheat, get irrationally angry when he loses, and make long, boring speeches. And after he comes back for the merge, he uses trickery, manipulation, and lies to go all the way to the final three.
  • Smarmy Host: Chris, as in canon.
  • Smart Jerk and Nice Moron:
    • The Drew/Wayne/Marissa Power Trio pairs a Smart Jerk (Drew) with two Nice Morons (Wayne and Marissa).
    • Noah and Owen are also an example, as in canon.
  • Smart People Build Robots: Downplayed with Nero. He's never shown building robots, but he does build a lot of different contraptions.
  • Smart People Play Chess: Insufferable Genius Drew is shown to enjoy playing chess.
  • Snakes Are Sinister: Emilia, the Big Bad, is heavily associated with snakes and outright referred to as a "snake" on a few occasions.
  • Soft Water: The Dive of Shame is said to be on top of a cliff, over a lake.
  • Something about a Rose: Emilia wears a red rose in her hair, which fits her passionate nature.
  • Sore Loser: Drew. In "No Business Like Show Business", after getting only 15 points in the talent show (the lowest score anyone had gotten thus far), Drew throws a fit and has to be physically restrained to prevent him from attacking the judges. He throws another fit when he gets eliminated in "Campfire Emblem Awake-ening", demanding a recount, proclaiming he will sue his way back on, and having to be pushed off the Dive of Shame by the interns. He comes back for the merge due to legal pressure from Drew's mother Courtney, and for the most part, manages to keep his temper under control… until "Virtual Royale-ity", when he loses the battle royale and is informed that he'll be going home that day, causing him to go ballistic, smash his VR headset and controller, and lunge towards Chris, resulting in him getting restrained in a straightjacket by interns and pushed off the Dive of Shame once again.
  • Speaking Like Totally Teen: In "Aftermath: The Next Generation", Sierra (who is co-hosting the show with her teenage son) refers to the aftermath show as "totally yeet".
  • Spicy Latina: Though Emilia is technically a Spaniard, she still fits the trope very well. She's a gorgeous Femme Fatale dressed in red, and as shown during her many interactions with Storm, she has a fierce and violent side.
  • Spit Take: Emilia does this in "Nothing To Fear But Fear Itself" when Chris tells her that she has a dentist appointment.
  • Spoiled Brat: Morgan's defining character trait; heck, it's even her label. All she does in "Here Come The Sons… And Daughters" is complain about having to do things that might mess up her looks and complain about how the camp doesn't meet her impossibly high standards. Is it any wonder she's the first to get booted?
  • Sports Dad: Tyler is revealed to be this in "Aftermath: The Next Generation". Because his klutziness prevented him from becoming an all-star athlete, he decided to shape his son Wayne into the athlete he could never be. So he signed Wayne up for sports as soon as he was old enough, and to his delight, Wayne ended up not only enjoying sports, but being very good at them.
  • Spotlight-Stealing Squad: Skave, Katherine, Emilia, and Storm all get a lot of focus.
    • Skave is by far the most obvious example. Despite not having much Character Development or an onscreen love interest, she manages to outlast all the other Modern Mandrills and make it all the way to the final two. She manages to make friends with campers on both teams even before the merge, does at least moderately well in most challenges, and has a wide array of skills that coincidentally tend to line up with whatever the episode's challenge is. This might be because she (alongside Keith and Tophella) was a previously existing Original Character that Vanessafanfictionlover had created prior to the creation of Total Drama Legacy, and also because she's the daughter of Sky, Vanessafanfictionlover's favorite Total Drama character.
    • Given that Katherine is introduced as a Hikikomori, it was expected that she would have a character arc where she comes out of her shell and make it to at least the merge. However, what was not expected was her becoming one-half of Total Drama Legacy's main romantic couple (Katherine x Link), using the confessional booth more times than any other TDL camper (34 times, seven more than the second-most frequent user, Emilianote ), having one heck of a Dark and Troubled Past, having a Cute and Psycho alternate form that she can shift into and out of seemingly at will, and winning in the end. This could probably be chalked up to the fact that she's Ezekiel's daughter; not only is Ezekiel a character that FlamingMercury5 is very fond of, he's also a major Butt-Monkey in canon, so it only seems fair that his daughter would be treated a lot more favorably than he was.
    • Emilia is the Big Bad, but she doesn’t actually veer into "actively hostile" territory until "Campfire Emblem Awake-ening", and doesn't become Obviously Evil until "A Shocking Twist". The bulk of her screen time in the first half of Total Drama Legacy actually focuses on her relationship with Lydia, and even then, it's mostly fluff. Is it any wonder why some readers consider the Emilia/Lydia romance arc a Romantic Plot Tumor?
    • And finally, we have Storm. The fact that two separate episodes are puns on her name ("A Dark and Storm-y Night" and "Not-So-Perfect Storm") should tell you all you need to know. Since she's established early on as being both exceptionally smart and exceptionally strong, it's expected that she'll make it far in the competition, which she does. Her conflict with Emilia and her relationship with Serena both receive a lot of focus, as do her friendships with Skave, Link, and Katherine. Speaking of Katherine, Storm rivals her in terms of how much backstory she's given, and also has a pretty significant character arc about learning to accept failure. The sheer amount of focus she gets is most likely because she's a Cameron x Lightning fankid, and Cameron x Lightning is a ship that FlamingMercury5 is not only very fond of, but which she has written several fanfics for.
  • Squee: Serena does this in "Reality Shogun" when she finds out the challenge they're about to do is Japanese-themed.
  • Stage Mom: Sugar. In "Aftermath: The Next Generation", Sugar mentions that ever since her daughter Morgan was little, she has signed her up for beauty pageants so she could relive her pageant days through her. And while Morgan enjoyed being in beauty pageants when she was a young child, she now finds them to be very boring.
  • Stargazing Scene: In "Campfire Emblem Awake-ening", when night falls, Emilia and Lydia have a scene where they look at the stars together. Emilia sees Vega and Altair, and tells Lydia about the story of the weaver girl and the cowherd.
  • Stout Strength: As seen in "Family Feud", Owen is able to carry his son Carter on his back relatively easily.
  • Stripperific: Marissa's outfit consists of a crop top and short-shorts, and shows a lot of skin.
  • Strong Family Resemblance: If you look at these TD-styled portraits of all the Total Drama Legacy characters, you'll notice that a lot of them look very similar to their parents. In particular, Skave and Keith look like Sky and Dave with different hairstyles, Marlin looks like a hazel-eyed Geoff, Carter looks like a brown-haired Owen, and Violet looks like a slightly skinnier and ponytailed Anne Maria.
  • Student Council President: Drew, of course; heck, his label is "The Class President". Just as his mother Courtney constantly brought up the fact that she was a CIT, Drew constantly brings up the fact that he's a student council president. Like many examples of this trope, he's portrayed as a dictatorial, antagonistic, and destined for a career in politics.
  • Summer Campy: Pahkitew Island, which now has cabins and a mess hall to make it more like Wawanakwa.
  • Superior Successor: Katherine, like you wouldn't believe. Her father Ezekiel is the only Total Drama contestant to be voted off first on two occasions. However, in Total Drama Legacy, not only does Katherine avoid getting voted off first, she avoids getting voted off, period. In fact, she ends up winning.
  • Super-Reflexes: In "Water You Gonna Do?", Link is revealed to have these, which he credits to a lifetime of playing video games.
  • Supreme Chef:
    • Chef Hatchet, who is finally allowed to make good food for the campers thanks to Tina's bid to make the show more merciful.
    • Carter, as shown in "Wild Kat" and "The Great Canadian Cook-Off". In the former, he mentions that "when you have an appetite like mine, you gotta learn how to make your own food", and in the latter, he receives the highest score in the episode's cooking contest.
  • Surfer Dude: Marlin's defining character trait, heck, it's even his label. One could argue he's even more stereotypical than Bridgette and Geoff were.
  • Surrounded by Idiots: Drew straight-up says this in "Campfire Emblem Awake-ening", in response to Wayne and Marissa's density.
  • Sweet Baker: Carter, a kind young man who, as shown in "The Great Canadian Cook-Off", loves baking and hopes to open a bakery someday.
  • Sweetheart Sipping: Marlin and Carter do this in "Shut up and Drive" with a milk carton, at Carter's request.
    • Serena and Storm also do this in "Water you Gonna Do?" with one of Storm's protein shakes.

     T-V
  • Take That!: In "Water You Gonna Do?", when Storm asks if Link has ever played the Madden NFL games, Link says "The ones by EA? Ugh, no way. I would never support EA."
  • Take Up My Sword: At the end of "Not-So-Perfect Storm", before Storm takes the Dive of Shame, she entrusts Katherine to "carry the torch of victory all the way to the finish line" on her behalf.
  • Tamer and Chaster: In Legacy, the female characters are dressed in a far less Stripperiffic way than the female characters in, say, Island. Storm and Marissa are the only ones to wear midriff-baring outfits, Marissa and Emilia are the only ones to wear short-shorts, and Barbara is the only one who wears a miniskirt (and even then, it’s a minidress worn with tights, so it’s clearly not meant to be fanservice-y). This is more appropriate, considering all the contestants are underage.
  • Team Mom:
    • Tina, to the entire camp. Unlike her sadistic father, Tina is caring, kind, and very concerned with the wellbeing of the campers. It's thanks to her that the show is far more merciful than past seasons. She even goes undercover as a camper so she can know for a fact that they're being treated well.
    • Skave, to the Modern Mandrills. She's levelheaded, gets along with everyone, makes friends easily, and is always there to comfort someone who's upset or help someone in need.
  • Team Shot: Of course, the photo that Chris takes of the contestants on the dock in "Here Come The Sons… And Daughters".
  • Tears of Joy: Courtney cries these in "Aftermath: Endgame" because she's so proud of her son for making it to the final three.
  • Teen Genius: Storm and Drew. Nero is just barely not an example, as he's only 12.
  • Teen Hater: Chris still has elements of this, even though raising a child of his own has mellowed him out significantly.
  • Teens Love Shopping: In "Aftermath: The Next Generation", Morgan complains that "there's no mall" on Pahkitew Island or on the Playa des Losers.
  • Tempting Fate: In "Campfire Emblem Awake-ening", when Drew tells Chris he'll sue his way back onto the show, Chris says "Like that's ever gonna happen." It does.
  • Tender Tomboyishness, Foul Femininity: Storm and Emilia. Tomboyish Passionate Sports Girl Storm is kind, friendly, and fights fair, while girly Proud Beauty Emilia is mean, spiteful, and a Combat Pragmatist.
  • That's Gotta Hurt: When Emilia rams into Skave's go-kart and wrecks it in "Shut Up and Drive", Chris says "Oh, I don’t care what team you’re on, that’s gotta hurt!"
  • This Is a Competition: Emilia says this in "Not-So-Perfect Storm".
  • Threatening Shark: One shows up in "Water You Gonna Do?" and chases down the Modern Mandrills. Fortunately, Skave kicks it and sends it flying onto the Classic Cobras' boat.
  • Throw the Dog a Bone: Ezekiel is the franchise's biggest Butt-Monkey, having placed last in both seasons of Total Drama that he competed in. However, in Total Drama Legacy, his daughter Katherine ends up doing quite well, and even ends up winning. It's almost like an apology to Ezekiel.
  • Title Scream: Every episode ends with one.
  • Token Minority Couple: Storm and Serena. Both of them are Black (and are the two most prominent Black characters in the narrative), and they end up becoming a couple.
  • Tomboy and Girly Girl: Storm and Serena, Storm and Emilia, Storm and Violet, Skave and Tophella, and Jo and Anne Maria.
  • Tomboy with a Girly Streak: Skave may be a tomboyish Action Girl who knows karate and is skilled with the sword and bow, but, as seen in "Not-So-Perfect Storm", she does like fashion and has no qualms with putting on a dress and getting dolled up.
  • Took a Level in Jerkass: Emilia, after Lydia gets eliminated.
  • Top-Heavy Guy: Though in Flaming Mercury 5’s art style they’re drawn a bit more realistically, judging by this picture of all the TDL campers in the Total Drama art style, Wayne and Carter are both examples. Carter has the widest torso of all the TDL campers, but his legs are not nearly the width needed to support it; likewise, Wayne’s arms are at least twice as thick as his legs are.
  • Town Girls: Team Easy Breezy: Storm (butch), Serena (femme), and Katherine (neither).
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Skave seems to be very fond of bananas.
  • Troubled Fetal Position: Katherine curls up into a fetal position when surrounded by strangers twice: once as a part of her Establishing Character Moment in "Here Come The Sons… And Daughters", and again when she's forced to stay in a crowded room to conquer her agoraphobia in "Nothing To Fear But Fear Itself".
  • The Ugly Guy's Hot Daughter: Katherine. Her father Ezekiel is a green-skinned, Gollum-like "feral freakshow"; by contrast, Katherine is quite pretty, with beautiful gray eyes, long brown hair, and a delicate and slender build.
  • Ugly Guy, Hot Wife: Max and Scarlett, Sam and Dakota (though Dakota being a mutant may detract from her "sexiness"), and Ezekiel and Izzy are all examples.
  • Unaffected by Spice: Carter, as revealed in "Mi Cabaña Es Su Cabaña". When he has to eat an extremely hot chili pepper for a challenge, he eats it without even flinching. He attributes his immunity to spice to having eaten a lot of spicy Indian food as a child.
  • Ungrateful Bitch: After Brick saves Emilia from heatstroke, Emilia becomes angry at him because he ruined her makeup, and attacks him.
  • Unholy Matrimony: Scarlett and Max, and (as in canon) Alejandro and Heather.
  • Unishment: The "Egg Noggin" game that Storm and Drew have to play involves smashing eggs onto one's head, and being given extra points if it's hard-boiled as opposed to raw. However, because Raw Eggs Make You Stronger, Storm doesn't care if she gets a raw egg, and thus doesn't strive for extra points as much as her opponent.
  • Unlikely Confession Cam: Chef uses the outhouse confessional a few times, and even Harold gets in on it in "No Business Like Show Business".
  • Unwanted Assistance: In "Wild Kat", Nero's attempt to start a campfire for his team only ends up burning down one of their tents.
  • Used to Be More Social: Implied with Katherine, whose social phobia was instigated by a traumatic childhood event.
  • Uterine Replicator: Storm was grown inside of one.
  • Valley Girl: Marissa, a ditzy blonde who uses "like" way too much.
  • Vanity Is Feminine: Vanity is a fatal flaw of three separate female characters: Morgan (who is so concerned with her appearance she refuses to exert any effort during the statue-building challenge), Violet (who refuses to dunk her head in a tank full of fish not only because of her ichthyophobia, but also because she doesn't want to mess up her hair), and, of course, Emilia (the Big Bad, whose vanity is one of her defining traits and who ends up getting her beautiful face scarred).
  • Verbal Tic:
    • Katherine, Peter, and Ezekiel tend to put "eh" at the end of sentences, eh.
    • Storm, Thunder, and Lightning tend to add the prefix "Sha-" to several words.
  • Villain Episode: "A Shocking Twist" focuses primarily on Emilia.
  • Villainous Breakdown: Drew, when he loses the battle royale in "Virtual Royale-ity". When informed he'll be going home that night, he flies into a rage, smashes his VR headset and controller, and tries to attack Chris. Even after being restrained by interns, he has to be pushed off the Dive of Shame and is resisting and screaming the whole time.
  • Villainous BSoD: By contrast, when Emilia suffers a crushing defeat in "She Who Lives By The Sword…" she begins to feel immensely guilty over what she had done to get ahead, and is so consumed by sorrow and regret that she doesn't even respond when Chris informs her that she's going to be eliminated. Her final confessional even has her saying "What have I done?".
  • Villain with Good Publicity: Chris, as in canon.
  • Violently Protective Girlfriend:
    • Mess with Serena, and you will feel the wrath of the Storm.
    • Katherine's No-Holds-Barred Beatdown towards Emilia in "She Who Lives By the Sword…" is motivated by how Emilia got Link (Katherine's boyfriend) eliminated in "The Great Canadian Cook-Off".
  • Vitriolic Best Buds: Storm and Link, after their alliance. Though they're both close friends, they do tend to bicker and argue.
  • Vomit Indiscretion Shot: "Did Somebody Say Pancakes?" has plenty, since the challenge in that episode boils down to "eat as much as you can and then run a stomach-turning obstacle course, and if you throw up, you lose".
  • Voted Off the Island: In grand Total Drama tradition, the way the campers are picked off. Each night, the losing team holds a voting ceremony, and each member votes for who they want out of the game. Whoever receives the most votes doesn't receive a marshmallow at the marshmallow ceremony, and has to take the Dive of Shame and leave the island.

     W-Z
  • Wacky Parent, Serious Child: Izzy and Katherine.
  • Wacky Racing: "Shut Up and Drive".
  • Weaponized Exhaust: Owen uses his farts to propel himself across a river in "Family Feud".
  • We ARE Struggling Together: As a general rule of thumb, if a team starts infighting while doing a challenge, they are most likely going to lose.
  • We Hardly Knew Ye: Morgan, Zack, and Barbara all get booted early on, and therefore don't get much time to develop as characters. (Cody Jr. also gets booted early, but he becomes the co-host of the Aftermath, so he gets a fair amount of screen time.)
  • "Well Done, Son" Guy: Nero. All he wants is approval from his mother Scarlett, who is dismissive and neglectful towards him. In fact, Nero's Heel–Face Turn ends up making their relationship worse.
  • Well-Intentioned Extremist: Zack. In a vacuum, it seems like a good idea to go up on stage in front of an audience and educate others on something that more people should be aware of. But considering Zack is a Conspiracy Theorist, he decides to "educate" people about the "truth" behind the moon landing.
  • We Will Meet Again: Drew swears that he'll get back on the show in "Campfire Emblem Awake-ening". He keeps his word.
  • Wham Episode:
    • "Nothing To Fear But Fear Itself", which not only reveals the reason why Katherine is a Hikikomori (it's a consequence of her Dark and Troubled Past), but also reveals that Storm suffers from a crippling fear of failure because she grew up only knowing success.
    • "A Shocking Twist", which contains the Internal Reveal that Lydia and Tina are the same person, the moment when Emilia jumps off the slippery slope, and the most devastating display of Storm's fighting abilities in the entire fic.
  • What Beautiful Eyes!: In "Here Come the Sons… And Daughters", Link says that Katherine has "beautiful gray eyes".
  • "What Do They Fear?" Episode: "Nothing To Fear But Fear Itself", of course. In this episode, the campers reveal what they're afraid of around the fire, and Chris uses this knowledge to have all of the campers face their worst fears.
    • Emilia is afraid of going to the dentist, so Chris sits her down in a chair and has a dentist look at her teeth.
    • Link is afraid of the piano from Super Mario 64, so Chris boots up Super Mario 64 and makes Link collect the 8 red coins in Big Boo's Haunt (one of which is right behind the piano).
    • Skave is afraid of being locked in a room for a long time, so Chris has her spend two hours in an empty White Void Room.
    • Katherine is afraid of crowded places, so Chris has her spend two hours in a room full of people.
    • Keith is afraid of horses, so Chris has him get up onto a large draft horse and ride it.
    • Carter is afraid of geese, so Chris has him feed a Canada goose.
    • Lydia is afraid of being alone in the woods, so Chris drops her off in the middle of the woods and has her stay there.
    • Storm is afraid of getting anything below a C+ on a test, so Chris makes her take a test that was designed to trick her.
    • Marlin is afraid of clowns, so Chris has him shake hands with a Non-Ironic Clown.
    • Nero is afraid of his mother when she's angry, so Chris straps him to a table and makes him watch clips of his mother being angry.
    • Serena is afraid of centipedes, so Chris puts an Amazonian giant centipede on her arm to crawl all over her.
    • Violet is afraid of fish, so Chris has her dunk her head into a tank full of fish.
  • Who's on First?:
    • This exchange from "Did Somebody Say Pancakes?":
Nero: It is clear that in the chain that is this team, Morgan was the weakest link.
      Link: You talking to me?
    • This exchange from "Family Feud":
Drew: Oh, that was only the beginning, Harold. I will ensure your little Serena doesn’t make it to the top of the mountain in one piece.
Serena: One Piece? I love One Piece!
  • Why Did It Have to Be Snakes?: "Nothing To Fear But Fear Itself" is full of these moments, for every contestant.
  • Wight in a Wedding Dress: Gwen dresses up as one in "A Dark and Storm-y Night".
  • Wild Child: Feral Kat. Though she wasn't raised by animals, she does act like a wild animal.
  • Windbag Politician: Drew in "Campfire Emblem Awake-ening". After delivering an inspiring speech to his teammates, Wayne falls asleep from boredom.
  • Would Hit a Girl:
    • In "Reality Shogun" and "Mi Cabaña Es Su Cabaña", Chef has no qualms about hitting the female contestants as punishment for failing challenges.
    • Post-merge, Drew is very eager to hit Serena. In fact, in "The Word on the Street" he gives Serena a brutal beatdown.
    • Lightning has no qualms about hitting Skave and Sky in "Family Feud".
  • You Are Better Than You Think You Are: Storm says this to Katherine before taking the Dive of Shame in "Not-So-Perfect Storm".
