• Absurdly Short Production Time: The average multi-chapter fanfic takes about one or two years to complete (that is, if it doesn’t end up in limbo). However, Total Drama Legacy was first posted on August 24th, 2021 and completed on October 14th, 2021. That is a production time of only 51 days! The fact that it was written by two people collaborating definitely factored into this; after all, many hands make light work.
• Author Phobia:
  • Storm’s crippling fear of failure and her greatest fear being “getting anything below a C on a test” are inspired by FlamingMercury5’s own struggles as a former Child Prodigy. Once she got to the point where she actually had to study to do well on tests, she would end up panicking every time her grade dipped below a B+.
  • FlamingMercury5 is also chilopodophobic^note afraid of centipedes, so Serena’s fear of Creepy Centipedes is also drawn from her own experiences.
• Creator's Favorite: FlamingMercury5 has stated that her favorite characters in Total Drama Legacy are Katherine, Link, Serena, and Storm.
• Creator's Favorite Episode: FlamingMercury5 has also stated that her favorite episode of Total Drama Legacy was “Family Feud”.
• Creator's Pest: While she doesn’t seem to outright hate any of her characters, FlamingMercury5 has admitted that Barbara was the most difficult character for her to write.
• Friendship on the Set: FlamingMercury5 originally simply asked Vanessafanfictionlover if she would like to have her pre-existing Total Drama fankids appear in Total Drama Legacy. She agreed and offered to write dialogue for them, which led to her becoming the fic’s cowriter. Writing Total Drama Legacy together brought the two of them closer together, and once the fic was over, the two were close friends.
• Inspiration for the Work: According to FlamingMercury5, she was inspired to write Total Drama Legacy after seeing several Fan-Created Offspring fics about Total Drama and being disappointed with their lack of variety in regards to ships featured, often leaving out the fanon ships she liked in favor of more popular opposing ships. So she decided to make her own Total Drama fankids, featuring her preferred ships.
• Refitted for Sequel: As mentioned under What Could Have Been, Emilia was originally going to be far more of a Hate Sink then she ultimately ended up being. However, Total Drama Worldwide gives Raquel, Emilia’s Annoying Younger Sibling, a larger role, and portrays her as an outright Jerkass with no redeeming qualities.
• What Could Have Been:
  • FlamingMercury5 originally wanted Emilia to be an outright Jerkass, while Vanessafanfictionlover wanted her to be a genuinely nice person, in contrast to her parents. The two of them compromised and made her a Jerk with a Heart of Gold.
  • FlamingMercury5 originally planned to have Storm and Wayne be a couple. However, Vanessafanfictionlover suggested Storm should get together with Serena instead, and FlamingMercury5 ended up liking that a lot more.
  • Inversely, FlamingMercury5 had planned to make Katherine and Link the fic’s primary couple from the beginning. However, Vanessafanfictionlover suggested Katherine having romantic feelings for Violet instead, which FlamingMercury5 quickly shut down.
• Write What You Know: FlamingMercury5 found Link incredibly easy to write for because she’s a huge fan of video games.
• Write Who You Know: Due to having a lot of friends who are Occidental Otaku, FlamingMercury5 claims she “knows how to write a weeb”; hence why Serena is portrayed as a massive weeaboo.
