Tingles Raveng: The Tingling is a The Legend of Zelda fanfic created by AlfredoKnight002 on FanFiction.Net and Archive of Our Own.

The story begins off with Tingle becoming completely fed up with people ridiculing and bullying him so as compensation, he's out for revenge. He starts off by decapitating Epona's head and places it inside Link's bed. It is explained in the second chapter through flashback the reason why everyone is acting out of character is due to the three goddesses of fanfiction. A few years prior to the events of Tingle's revenge, the goddesses of fanfiction launched their first attack on Hyrule, turning everything very absurd and overall insane.

The fanfic only gets weirder from there on.

Tingles Raveng: The Tingling provides examples of:

  • Adaptational Badass:
    • Malon, while a normal girl in the original game, is here a psychotic murderer that can turn Super Saiyan and is powerful enough to destroy the entire planet.
    • Tingle, instead of being just a weird but harmless middle-aged man, is the Big Bad and The Chessmaster.
    • Epona is a Sith Lord.
  • Adaptational Nationality: Impa is apparently Scottish.
  • Adaptational Wimp: Link is a coward with little fighting skill, much different than the Hero of Time from the original game. Justified, as this was a result of the Fanfic Goddesses' attack on Hyrule.
  • Anachronism Stew:
    • Hyrule somehow has modern technology, such as video games and buses.
    • Maximilien Robespierre is alive in the 21st century and in Hyrule, with it never being explained why.
  • And I Must Scream:
    • Hinted at being the fate of those infected by the Fanfiction Goddesses.
    • Dolores Umbridge goes through this when Malon shoots a death laser at her that causes her to melt into a blob, but still allows her to feel all of the pain until she is put out of her misery.
" Link watched in enjoyment as her skin melted off, and her tempatures reacheded such high levuls that even her skerlaten began to melt. Malon also used her powers to make it so that she could still feel pain with her body melting. By this point, she was nothing put a pile of goop, but could feel everything. Umbridge had no mouth and must scream."
  • Animalistic Abomination:
    • Sakurai's cat Fukura is described as an Eldritch Abomination that takes the form of a cat.
    • The Very Hungry Caterpillar is also one, with the ultimate goal to eat the entire planet.
  • An Offer You Can't Refuse: Talon, being the Godfather, says this nearly word for word.
Talon: "Don't-a worry! I'll-a make an offer he can't-a refuse! I'll-a send him LOTSA SPAGHETTI! There's-a no way-a for him to refuse-a that!"
  • Anti-Climax: Most battles turn out like this, such as when the Very Hungry Caterpillar is randomly eaten by Sakurai's cat.
  • Anti-Villain: Epona's main motivation is to rightfully get revenge on Link for torturing and abusing her.
  • April Fool's Day Episode:
    • Chapter 10, which claims to be the final chapter and kills off the entire cast unceremoniously. It turns out it was All Just a Dream.
    • A second happens in Chapter 56, again claiming to be the finale. The chapter is somehow even more bizarre than the rest of the story, and kills off every character before once again turning out to be a dream.
  • Arch Nemesis Dad: Tingle is Links's father, as well as the main villain in the story.
  • Arson, Murder, and Jaywalking:
    • "Hay," said tghe burtender, "arent u dat evil chick that does a bunch of super evil stuff liek murdering children for fun and burning down hospitals and torturing puppies and making Undertale rule 34?"
    • Old man was super drunk and on cocaine and heroin and meth and cough drops.
  • Artistic License – Biology: After Hyrule was flooded by the goddesses, incest somehow gave every Hyrulean down syndrome.
  • Artistic License – Geography:
    • Ebony drives through Greenland and destroys Reykjavík, despite the city actually being in Iceland.
    • Indiana is a country in Asia, surrounded by nations such as “Pacman, Bangarang, Nipple, Button, Mayflies, and Sir Lonka.”
    • When travelling to Indiana (India) Malon passes through the previously stated nearby countries, despite the fact that she entered from the Indian Ocean. She would not have entered any of those countries when going to India from the ocean, due to it being the southernmost nation in the region.
    • Australia is just Hyrule after it was flooded by the goddesses, and Dragon Roost Island is in New Zealand. Tanzania is also a nearby island.
    • Machu Picchu is apparently its own country.
  • Artistic License – History:
    • Apparently, Ricky Ricardo from I Love Lucy is the President of Cuba and Fidel Castro's brother, and Castro was killed by his cousin Hugo Chaves, the president of Mexico.
    • Nikita Khrushchev was the "tsareena" of Russia who put missiles in Cuba to bomb Disney World, causing the Cuban Missile Crisis.
    • The events of Rocky IV actually happened.
    • Fidel Castro and Margaret Thatcher are the same person.
    • Pearl and Marina from Splatoon 2 helped Japan blow up Pearl Harbor, mockingly taking its name.
    • Tingle and his team killed Osama Bin Laden, despite the fact that the chapter takes place in 2017 and he died years earlier.
    • The Last Supper by Michelangelo was apparently painted by Jesus.
    • Hannibal Lector is the same person as Hannibal Barca of Carthage.
    • John Watson from Sherlock is the same person as American psychologist John B. Watson.
  • Artistic License – Religion: Buddhism is said to be the largest religion in India, despite it actually being Hinduism. It was also said to be founded by Ghandi.
  • Artistic License – Space: When Link travels to Pluto, it somehow has a cantina on it filled with many characters, despite it being uninhabitable in real life, and definitely doesn't have a cantina.
  • Asshole Victim: Ingo. Before Malon murdered him to become the Godfather, he was shown to be a sexist Jerkass to her.
  • Author Appeal: Characters from works that the author likes often make appearances.
  • Ax-Crazy: Basically everyone, including Link, but especially Malon.
  • Batman Can Breathe in Space: Link survives just fine in the vacuum of space and while on Pluto wearing just his regular clothes.
  • Bestiality Is Depraved:
    • Link has sex with a random Octorok in one chapter.
    • Agitha uses her bugs as sex slaves.
    • At one point, Linkle has sex with a chicken, having a "close encounter of the bird kind."
  • Berserk Button:
    • Malon goes into an insane rage every time Link sleeps with or even talks to another girl, destroying everything in her path and even trying to destroy the world at one point. She also is angered whenever someone isn't attracted to Link, meaning that she'll kill someone for thinking he's attractive or thinking he's unattractive.
    • Don't insult or kill bugs in front of Agitha.
  • Big "NO!": Malon screams "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO" in Darth Vader's voice after Agitha is killed in the first chapter.
  • *Bleep*-dammit!: The story originally censors out curse words, using "f*ck" and "sh*t." The censorship eventually gets more lenient, cursing is no long censored after Dark Pit kills the asterisk censoring them.
  • "Blind Idiot" Translation: The second Cinco de Mayo special, which completely butchers the Spanish language to an extreme extent.
  • Butt-Monkey:
    • Navi is definitely this, getting bullied, beaten, and bossed around by Link for no reason.
  • Magolor is this for Linkle, as she kidnaps him and makes him her slave.
  • "Snas Undertail" gets beaten up by the other characters such as Sara and Tingle and faces injuries in most of his appearances.
  • Cloud Angle is constantly insulted by the author and is usually ignored.
  • Call-Back:
    • In the second Christmas special, Link kills a group of weebs singing “Snow Halation,” just as he did in the first special.
    • Chapter 69, being the second anniversary special, features multiple references to the first chapter. For example, Malon and Agitha play video games before being interrupted by the news in both.
  • The Cameo:
    • Sans and Papyrus make a cameo in the Halloween special.
    • Satoru Iwata makes an appearance in Chapter 65, guarding the gates of heaven as well as using his signature catchphrases.
    • Many random characters make cameos in the second Cinco de Mayo special, including Judd from Splatoon, Takumi from Fire Emblem Fates, Yuri Katsuki from Yuri!!! on Ice, Judy Hopps from Zootopia, Tito Dick from The Nutshack, and Waluigi.
    • Chapter 33 has appearances from an extreme number of characters, most of whom are from Sci-fi shows or movies.
    • Batman appears in multiple chapters as a news anchor.
    • Germany is a character in Snas and Papyrus's movie. Finland later appears in the North Pole before being killed by Ebony.
    • Harry Potter from Thirty Hs makes a few appearances.
    • Popuko appears as a guard of Hyrule Castle in Chapter 69.
  • Canada, Eh?: Pit becomes obsessed with Canada after President Trump destroyed his faith in America, and so he begins to act stereotypically Canadian.
Pit: "Canada is what it's really all aboot! Unlike America, Canada is much less crowded, has more lakes, Meese (which is moose plural), polar bears, maple syrup, Canadian bacon, NO TRUMP, hockey, eskimo, Robin Sparkles, and best of all, JUSTIN TRUDEAU!"
  • Cassandra Truth: Link never listens to Navi's advice, no matter how helpful it may be. He also always blames her when things go wrong, despite her previously warning him.
  • Cast Full of Gay: Nearly every character in the story is gay or bisexual.
  • Cerebus Syndrome: The story isn’t hit by this as much as The Hot Topic Krew, but Cerebus Syndrome definitely does eventually kick in, with some of Links's atrocities being Played for Drama, as well as The Reveal that all of the canon characters are stuck in the minds of the fanfic versions of themselves.
  • Cluster F-Bomb: Malon in Chapter 57, after Talon insults Link.
    Malon: "F*CK YOU DAD YOU F*CKING OLD WRINKLY C*NT F*CKER F*CK F*CK F*CK YOU, YOU F*CKING BITCH, EAT A F*CKING DICK YOU LITTLE BASTARD F*CK YOU ASSHOLE F*CKING SHIT-FACED BITCH! F*CK YOU YOU-!"
Talon: "Mama mia, that's-a some-a spicy language! You-a need to watch-a your-a bocca!"
Malon: "No u need to WATCH YERE F*KIN NBACK OR YULE FIND A NIFE IN IT THAT WILL KIL U YU OLD ITALIAN C*NT! F*CK U FCK F*CKER F*CKING F*CK F*CKD *CIFKDF F*CK YOU!11111111111"
  • Cold-Blooded Torture: Link tortures Epona after she loses in a race. Unlike most of the story, this is Played for Drama.
  • Commie Nazis: Link loves both Hitler and Stalin, mostly because they both have killed a lot of people.
  • Cool Sword: Epona has a carrot-shaped lightsaber.
  • Country Matters:
    • The word is censored in the early chapters, and is most commonly used by Malon. Eventually, curses are no longer censored.
    • In Chapter 70, Toon Link’s grandma seems fond of using it, although it is misspelled as “cont.”
    • The first time that it is used without being censored or misspelled is in Chapter 71, used by Ruto to describe Lillie.
  • Crapsack World: Hyrule is a dystopian mess in which the leading causes of death are Link and Linkle, Sexually Transmitted Diseases, and suicide. Nearly everyone acts like a violent trollfic character, and one of the few people that isn't insane is Navi.
  • Creator's Culture Carryover: Although the story takes place in Hyrule, most of the culture resembles America's, with characters even using US dollars instead of Rupees.
  • Crossover: Despite it being a fanfic for The Legend of Zelda, characters such as DJ Octavio from Splatoon, Harry from Harry Potter, to even real-life people such as Masahiro Sakurai and Bill Trinen show up. Strangest of all, characters from other fanfics appear, such as Ebony Dark'ness Dementia Raven Way from My Immortal.
  • Cruella to Animals: Link tortures Epona for losing a race and plans on killing her before she is rescued by Tingle.
  • A Day in the Limelight: Certain chapters focus on specific characters, such as Chapter 15 for Malon.
  • Deal with the Devil: It is eventually revealed that Link sold his soul to Satan in return for the ability to come back from the dead until the end of the story.
  • Death as Comedy: Most of the deaths in the story are Played for Laughs.
  • Department of Redundancy Department:
"Link took links soard and took the sord!"
  • Depraved Bisexual: Link is attracted to both sexes and also happens to lack any redeeming qualities.
  • Death is Cheap: Although many deaths occur throughout the fic, most of the main characters will always return. For instance, Navi is killed multiple times, but usually returns by the end of the next chapter.
  • Demoted to Extra: Ganondorf, who is the Big Bad in canon, dies after his first appearance.
  • Deus ex machina: Lampshaded by the narrator in Chapter 5, where Link and Navi are able to escape from Ebony because of a well-timed attack by Sara.
  • Did Not Do the Bloody Research: Being based on his appearance from Light and Dark The Adventures of Dark Yagami, this happens in any part featuring Watari.
Watari: "YES, MY BLOODY PAL, GOD SAVE THE QUEEN! I WILL HELP SODDING GOBSMACK THAT WANKER'S ARSE!"
  • Disproportionate Retribution: Malon violently murders dozens of girls just for sleeping with, and even just being attracted to Link.
    • Link kills Ruto and cooks her into fishsticks because she asked him for a Coke.
  • Distaff Counterpart: Linkle is this for Link, having exactly the same personality as him.
  • Dropped a Bridge on Him:
    • Ganondorf is killed by a Death Note early on in the story and never appears again.
    • Ruto is randomly killed by Link in her first appearance for asking Link for a soda.
    • Saria was killed offscreen by Epona. She later returns, only to be instantly killed off again by a random turtle.
  • Dysfunctional Family: Tingle, Link, and Linkle are this to the extreme.
  • Egocentric Team Naming: Tingle's evil team, the "Tingling Sensation."
  • Even Evil Has Standards: Hannibal Lecter is even disgusted by Linkle.
Hannibal: "That bitch has caused us nothing but pain and suffering and sadness. EVEN I THINK SHE'S EVIL AND I'M A F*CKING CANNIBAL!"
  • "Everybody Dies" Ending: Chapter 10 ends with the entire cast dead. Turns out it was All Just a Dream, though.
  • Failure Hero: Link fails at almost everything he does, due to his extreme stupidity and refusal to listen to Navi's advice.
  • Interspecies Romance: Several of them to include Masahiro Sakurai and his cat Fukura to even The Hot Topic Krew's older version of Kid Icarus from Captain N: The Game Master and Green de la Bean.
  • It's a Wonderful Plot: The second Christmas special, in which Cloud Angle tries to make Link a better person by showing him what the world would’ve been like if he never existed. Hyrule turns out to be much better without Link, causing him to be happy that he made the world a worse place and continue to be evil.
  • Just Eat Gilligan: If Link just listened to Navi for once, most of the conflicts could have been avoided.
  • Killed Off for Real: Although most characters don't stay dead for long, Ganondorf dies early on and never returns.
  • Lampshade Hanging: Navi does this in almost every chapter she is in, being the Only Sane Man.
  • Land Down Under: In The Wind Waker chapter, Hyrule is flooded by the goddesses and turns into Australia.
  • Large Ham:
  • Legion of Doom: Tingle and his followers, known as the "Tingling Sensation." Their roster consists of Tingle, Epona, Hannibal Lecter, BEN, Waldo, L, DJ Octavio, Moe, Blair, Karen, Nebby, Nico Yazawa, and Linkle.
  • Losing Your Head: Epona's head is chopped off by Tingle in the first chapter and placed in Link's bed. It later turns out to have been a clone.
  • Luke, I Am Your Father: Tingle is actually Link's father, Linkle is Link's sister, and Zelda is their mother.
  • Man Behind the Man: Tingle is apparently behind Kim Jong Un, with North Korea being said to be Tingle’s puppet state.
  • Morality Pet: Tingle apparently actually cares about Epona, who is the only person he truly trusts.
  • Murder the Hypotenuse: Malon murders every girl that Link sleeps with. But somehow, Link has slept with so many people that she has killed rooms full of people and still is not finished killing her competition.
  • No Fourth Wall: Characters constantly break the fourth wall, most commonly Navi and Sakurai.
  • Obfuscating Stupidity: It is eventually revealed that Tingle, although affected by the Fanfiction Goddesses, is actually extremely intelligent, but pretends to be as stupid as everyone else.
  • Oh, My Gods!: Characters sometimes say things like, "Oh my goddesses!"
  • Only Sane Man: Navi is the only one who wasn't affected by the three goddesses of fanfiction.
  • Previously on…:
    • Every chapter starts with a recap of the previous one.
    • Chapter 50 recaps the entire story in unnecessary detail, making it an Overly Long Gag.
  • Psychopathic Manchild: Link, very much. Linkle is a gender inversion.
  • Putting the Band Back Together: When the bugs of Hyrule are in danger, Agitha decides to save them by getting the team back together...despite them never being part of a team in the first place. Sheik lampshades this.
  • Queer People Are Funny: This is the author's reasoning for making Light Yagami Camp Gay.
  • Reality Warper: Sakurai and Fukura seem to have reality manipulation powers, but are unable to do fix the issues in the story for unknown reasons.
  • Recursive Fanfiction: This story technically is this, having characters from other fanfics making appearances.
  • Recursive Reality: While My Immortal-style "geddit" pun explanations are a Running Gag in the story, an instance in Chapter 24 has multiple nested pun explanations.
  • Shoot the Dog:
    • In Chapter 64, Navi kills Link after finding out that he committed genocide against the Zora and cooking them into fishsticks. She previously hoped that he could be restored to his previous self, but she decided that killing him was necessary to keep him from hurting more innocents.
    • King Zora suffocates Ruto in her sleep after she goes insane.
  • Shoot the Shaggy Dog: The Wind Waker chapter ends with all of the children that Toon Link saved dying in a shipwreck.
  • Shout-Out:
  • Sibling Rivalry: Link and Linkle are an extreme example of this, with them constantly trying to kill each other.
  • The Sociopath: Link shows no remorse to anyone in the story, happily killing thousands of people. Linkle also applies.
  • Space Is Noisy: In the chapter that takes place in space, everyone somehow speaks completely normally.
  • Surprise Incest: the Tingle reveals that Link and Linkle are his children, but the siblings are just turned on by this fact.
  • The Stoic: Darth Epona never says much and is almost always serious, very different from almost every other character in the story.
  • Stylistic Suck: Being a Troll Fic, the story tries its hardest to be as terrible as possible.
  • Take That!:
    • The author constantly making stabs at someone named Tim throughout the story in the author's notes.
    • There are some towards Donald Trump.
    • Cloud Angle from Kid Icarus Uprising 2 is often described as having no personality.
    • The Fairly OddParents episode “It’s a Wishful Life” is said to be shitty, and the author says, “Fuck whomever wrote that.”
    • When Dampe is sent back in time, the creator of Metroid: Other M is killed before the game was ever released, and the world was stated to be a much better place.
    • The entire cast of The Big Bang Theory is killed in a car accident because the laugh track was so loud that they couldn’t hear the incoming traffic.
    • Link’s “shitty” anime idea that features “hot lesbans, incest, an sexual asualt“ sounds suspiciously similar to Citrus.
    • Chapter 71 makes fun of the NBC coverage of the Olympics.
    • Soul Eater is insulted in the story, with Blair being the Butt-Monkey of the Tingling Sensation, constantly described as a slut.
  • They Killed Kenny Again: Although not a once a chapter occurrence, Navi dies multiple times in the story and is always soon revived.
  • Three-Way Sex: Link has a threesome with the Happy Mask Salesman and Walter White.
  • Time Travel: Most of the time travel in this story is achieved using Bill and Ted's phone booth. Tingle also has a time-travelling ice cream truck that they use to take Ebony and Sara to Hyrule after they are killed by Link in the present.
  • Trademark Favorite Food:
    • Link is strangely obsessed with medium rare chicken strips.
    • Although a rather minor character, Takumi is associated with tacos.
  • True Companions: Despite being very evil, most of the members of the Tingling Sensation are very close with one another.
  • Tyop on the Cover: "Raveng"? It might take a moment to realize that that's supposed to be revenge.
  • Undying Loyalty: After being saved from being killed by Link, Epona swore undying loyalty to her rescuer, Tingle.
  • Unexplained Accent: Marina has a strange amalgamation of different accents for no reason whatsoever.
  • Unexplained Recovery:
    • Despite being killed by Malon, Cia is inexplicably alive again in a later chapter.
    • After being killed by the Villager in the Halloween Episode, Ben returns in the next chapter like nothing happened.
  • Would Hurt a Child:
    • Link tries to kill Tingle and Zelda's infant children by putting them in a microwave.
    • Link and Linkle try to kill their twin children. Malon attempts to kill them as well.
    • Link also killed many children off-screen in the story, doing things like burning down children hospitals.
  • Yet Another Christmas Carol: The Christmas Episode uses this plot, with Link as Scrooge and Zelda, Ruto, and Light Yagami as the ghosts. Their plan for changing Link for the better fails miserably.
