New Eridu Residents

    The Bangboos

Bangboos were originally created to assist New Eridu residents with evacuation in Hollow disasters. Now, thanks to technological advancement and emerging needs, Bangboo evolved from simple disaster avoidance devices to comprehensive, versatile and intelligent individuals. Some pro-version Bangboo even go deep into Hollows with Investigators and help with various operations.

  • Speaking Simlish: When the Player Character isn't speaking through their Bangboo or if they are unable to connect, the Bangboo defaults back to its own language, which often sounds like "Nah nah nur".

Random Play

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/random_play_group_photo_1.png
A brother-sister pair who manage a video store in New Eridu. The sibling you pick in the opening cutscene becomes the Player Character. While their business is legitimate, they also have a more legally questionable side hustle as Proxies — guides commissioned by people who venture into Hollows that can assist in combat.

    In General
  • Collective Identity: Nicole's reference to the Proxy Phaethon in the singular implies that those who don't know them personally are unaware their navigator is actually a sibling team.
  • Dub Name Change: In English the brother is named Wise and the sister is named Belle, but the brother's name is Zhe note  in Chinese and Akira in Japanese while the sister's name is Ling/Rin in both Chinese and Japanese.
  • Experienced Protagonist: The siblings are already well-known as a "legendary" Proxy by the time the game begins, and are well-acquainted with various Hollow explorers. Nicole herself apparently asks for their help at least three times a month.
  • Hello, [Insert Name Here]: An odd example; both siblings have actual set names, but the name of the account they operate under after the Phaethon identity is burnt is entirely up to the player.
  • Mission Control: They are the eyes and ears during missions who use Bangboo to relay information to teams while also guiding them out of the Hollows. It's a pretty necessary occupation when in a Hollow as navigating them through conventual means is impossible as inside a Hollow a dead end can be an exit and a clear area can be a dead end.
  • Non-Action Protagonist: Unlike previous miHoYo games' protagonists, neither of them are combat capable, instead serving as Mission Control for Agents - they are only controllable in the Hub Level.
  • Properly Paranoid: The siblings create an alternate account shortly into the prologue, which comes in real handy when a hacker ends up seizing control of the HDD and they lose control of the Phaethon account.
  • Red Baron: Their Proxy handle is "Phaethon", after the child of the Greek Sun god Helios.
  • Riches to Rags: Comparatively, at least; During the mission to retrieve the Red Fang Gang's lockbox a hacker ends up taking control of the Phaethon account...which the siblings quickly turn into an opportunity to jettison unwanted attention and get Public Security on the hacker's trail as well.
  • Voice with an Internet Connection: How the siblings act as Proxies. They remotely control a Bangboo from their video store and speak to their commissioners through it to guide them out of Hollows.

One half of the management of Random Play, and a gentle and reserved young man who is thoughtful and reassuring.

    Fairy
The Virtual Sidekick that the siblings installed in Chapter 1 (as of the First Tuning Test) to protect their equipment from cyberattacks.
  • Deadpan Snarker: Has a sharp tongue, especially towards the siblings, in the Tuning Test. It gets toned down in the Equalizing Test.

Gentle House AKA Cunning Hares

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/gentle_house.jpeg
The Cunning Hares are always available for the right price!
A small-scale human resource dispatch agency that mainly deals with commissions relating to Hollows.

    In General
  • Licked by the Dog: Anby has a high opinion of both the agency and the people in it, often glossing over all their flaws in her internal monologues.
  • Ragtag Bunch of Misfits: While Hollow-diving teams are usually an eclectic bunch from all walks of life, those three-member teams are temporary, and the Cunning Hares are a permanent grab bag of weirdos. You have a gyaru who loves money and is inversely as good at handling it (Nicole), an amnesiac who can't distinguish between fiction and reality (Anby), an android who likes to believe he's a member of a fictional order of Knights from TV (Billy), and a cyborg cat girl with a penchant for casually pickpocketing people (Nekomiya).

"Target confirmed. Commencing the operation."
Rank: A
Fighting Style: Slash
Attribute: Electric

A young girl with a mysterious past that she never talks about. During an unexpected incident, Nicole brought her back to the Cunning Hares and she been emotionally dependent on her since.

  • The Comically Serious: Her professional attitude is comedically paired with her lack of common sense. In the prologue, where she and Billy are trapped in a Hollow, she threatens him when they reunite, while citing a supposed incident where an Ethereal escaped a Hollow disguised as a human. Billy frustratedly tells her that this was the plot of a movie she watched, not an actual event.
  • Cool Big Sis: Develops this kind of relationship with Nekomata, being protective of the younger cat girl as well as being the one to invite her into joining the Cunning Hares.
  • Emotionless Girl: She maintains a neutral expression at all times, in contrast to her more animated companions, and speaks in a deadpan monotone.
  • Modesty Shorts: Wears a pair underneath her admittedly short skirt. Justified since she moves a lot while fighting and would be subject to many Panty Shots.

"A wise choice! But I should warn you, my services don't come cheap!"
Rank: A
Fighting Style: Strike
Attribute: Ether

The founder and leader of the Cunning Hares who loves money but has bad finance management, leaving the group debt-ridden and always on the edge of bankruptcy.

  • Armor-Piercing Attack: In the Tuning Test, her 4th talent, "Armor Piercer", gives Nicole's bullets a stacking DEF down debuff to enemies, 2% per stack to a maximum of 10%.
  • Bottomless Magazines: Subverted. Nicole has an ammo meter at the bottom of her healthbar, showing you how many bullets she has left in her Briefcase Blaster before you have to manually reload it. It's especially notable because Billy Kid, her fellow Cunning Hare, fires a lot more bullets and is exclusively a ranged character, but never needs to stop to reload.
  • Briefcase Blaster: Her briefcase is often used as a blunt instrument in basic combos, while often unfolding to reveal gun barrels, as well as some sort of cannon able to create a small gravitational well in her switch-attack.
  • Combat and Support: Even if you don't need Nicole for her sweeping AOE attacks, it's still worth taking on a team for the energy field she can fire that pulls enemies in together. It's especially useful for ranged enemies that like to spread out to better harass the team.
  • Gameplay and Story Integration: Nicole's 4th talent, "Armor Piercer", will lose its effect if an enemy goes 12 seconds without being shot by another armor-piercing round. In the flavor-text, Nicole's weapons contractor once offered her better quality armor-piercing bullets but Nicole had to decline due to budget cuts, meaning the effects don't last because Nicole is using less-than-top-of-the-line munitions, which Ethereals can recover from with time.
  • Gyaru Girl: While she lacks the tanned skin associated with them, Nicole's personality and fashion style is very in line with the stereotypical Gyaru girl.
  • Invulnerable Knuckles: Played for Laughs. After she gets irritated at Billy, for not just blocking the film but for not attempting to assist the girls in taking out a group of rival gangsters (he's busy filming the two in action), she accidentally does a backhand on him. As Billy is an android, she visibly shakes her hand while he No Sells her fist.
  • Jiggle Physics: Nicole's ample bosom tends to bounce all over creation to even a slight breeze. This got toned down a bit in the second Closed Beta Test, though not in cutscenes.
  • Lascivious Beauty Mark: Nicole's got three moles - one below her eye, one on her left breast, and one on the inside of her thigh. All three play up her attractiveness.
  • Money Dumb: Her love for money is inversely proportional to her ability to manage it. Despite how much work the Cunning Hares get and how well it pays, you can be guaranteed it'll be gone soon enough, necessitating even more work in an endless cycle of living paycheck-to-paycheck for all the members.
  • Ms. Fanservice: She's incredibly easy on the eyes, with a brief top and short shorts revealing her voluptuous figure and plenty of bare skin. In the character select screen, she's also very eager to twist and turn into classic pin-up poses, showing off for the player. The second Closed Beta Test censored her slightly by giving her a bra under her top and making her breasts slightly smaller, but she's still very attractive.
  • Noblewoman's Laugh: Let’s one out after beating up the gold and silver Bangboos in her character demo.
  • Shameless Fanservice Girl: Flashes a lot of alluring expressions and provocative poses to boost her online presence.
  • Stripperiffic: Her short shorts and crop top are extremely skintight and shows off her thighs, midriff and cleavage.
  • Tsurime Eyes: Has a pair that evoke her approachability, craftiness, and oftentimes excessively easygoing nature.
  • A Truce While We Gawk: Her character demo has a moment where she and the Hollow monsters pause their fight to look at the gold and silver Bangboos passing by.

"The Starlight Knights never lose! Hahaha!"
Rank: A
Fighting Style: Pierce
Attribute: Physical

An Intelligent Tactical Unit android with a carefree and casual personality who wields twin revolvers. He's an avid fan of the "Starlight Knight" show, and not only refers to himself as one of the Starlight Knights, but also repeats many classic lines from the show.

  • Bottomless Magazines: Zig-Zagged. Despite theoretically being limited to only 12 bullets, 6 for each of the Girls, Billy is able to fire much, much, much more bullets at a time than that, and he never has to stop to reload. It's especially notable because his art shows that he is using physical munitions instead of some sort of energy cell, and his fellow Cunning Hare Nicole does need to reload. However, in his character spotlight, Billy is seen reloading the Girls between salvos and dramatically runs out of ammo at one point, to his and the Girls' embarrassment both.
  • The Dreaded: A feared enforcer in the Outer Ring. In New Eridu, which is mostly insulated from what's happing there, he's more of a No-Respect Guy.
  • Dual Wielding: Billy brings two pistols to combat, which he fires simultaneously with little issue.
  • Expressive Mask: Subverted, it looks like a mask, but it's really his face. Still, despite being made of presumably inflexible metal, Billy is still very expressive, his eyes itself narrowing or widening to convey a wide variety of his emotions. It's also capable of stretching and morphing like human skin would have, such as when Billy drags his hands over his face.
  • Expy: Billy's design, color scheme, personality, and choice of weaponry feel heavily inspired by both Deadpool and Dante, while having traits from Vash the Stampede as a seemingly inept and often disrespected goof with high combat aptitude and a violent past his current persona is partially a coping mechanism for.
  • Female Gaze: His Character Demo trailer has several shots where the camera quite explicitly focuses on his robotic buttocks.
  • The Gunslinger: In a cast mostly made up of melee-combatants or for those that use ranged attacks as a supplement (such as Nicole), Kid is very notable for using two pistols for all of his attacks and being able to attack from a distance.
  • Heart of Happiness: His Character Demo trailer starts and ends with him greeting his Girls while spouting a few of these, complete with making heart gestures at them to emphasize his cheeriness.
  • Heroic Wannabe: Has aspirations of being a Henshin Hero who fights for peace and justice, an ambition that starkly contrasts with the reality of him being what is essentially a mercenary (read: "human resource dispatch agent") who runs errands and battles foes for cash. And he can't transform.
  • I Call It "Vera": His revolvers are referred to as "The Girls".
  • Knight in Shining Armor: Billy likes to think of himself as this, or more specifically, a Starlight Knight. It's notable that the order he idolizes are a fictional group from a TV show.
  • More Dakka: Billy is capable of sending an incredible amount of bullets into his targets, despite using double-action revolvers.
  • Named After Somebody Famous: He's named after the infamous Wild West outlaw Henry McCarty, better known as "Billy the Kid".
  • Revolvers Are Just Better: Billy believes so much in the superiority of revolvers over automatic weapons, that he voluntarily wields a pair of custom-made, high-caliber revolvers, nicknamed "The Girls".
  • Ridiculously Human Robots: He is a Tactical Intelligent Unit that possess a human-like behavior. While he doesn't need to eat, he is capable of displaying emotions like a real person.
  • Speed Blitz: Like Nekomiya, his switch-attack has him dashing around the battlefield, too fast to be seen, only instead of slicing up enemies he unloads several bullets in all directions.
  • Super-Strength: It comes with being an android; this is how he's able to rapid fire his twin revolvers, the Girls, despite the massive amounts of recoil that their caliber produces (something that a normal human can't handle), especially as these rounds have explosive tips.
  • Walking Shirtless Scene: Downplayed Trope, but he's only wearing an open red jacket that exposes his exoskeleton chest and abs.

"The best mackerel is always the one you haven't eaten yet~"
Rank: S
Fighting Style: Slash
Attribute: Physical

A spirited and mischievous cat girl that likes to play pranks.

  • Animal Motif: Cats, naturally.
  • Cyborg: Her twin cat tails are visibly robotic prostheses with some sort of fluid containers and manufacturer details printed on them.
  • Devious Daggers: Despite her cat motifs, her preferred weapons are short knives rather than any sort of claws or claw-like weapons.
  • Easily Forgiven: Despite having tried to get them killed, the Cunning Hares invite her to join them at the end of her story quest.
  • Facial Markings: She has a grey triangle with vertical black lines in the middle of her forehead, right in the space where her bangs part.
  • In-Series Nickname: She's also referred to as Nekomata.
  • Little Bit Beastly: But for her ears, her tail, and the bushels of fur sprouting from her lower back, Nekomiya looks like a normal young human girl.
  • Ninja: Her design theme. She is extremely agile, fights with knives, and has a penchant for pickpocketing and pranks both. She also knows a lot more than she lets on, as mentioned in Secret-Keeper below.
  • Minor Crime Reveals Major Plot: Her revenge plot against the Cunning Hares for the Red Fang Gang's leader's death ends up taking them through the Dead End Hollow, and in the process discovering Vision Corporation's plot to hide that Canvas Street (which is in the way of a major metro renovation project) was not actually evacuated as they claimed to the media, leaving the group to find a way to save the residents and reveal the truth to New Eridu.
  • Secret-Keeper: Her bio on the official website states that she's "seen many a secret that can't be told".
  • Sixth Ranger: Not actually a member of the Cunning Hares at the game's start; she only formally joins the group later on.
  • Speed Blitz: Her switch-attack is her repeatedly dashing in several straight lines across a small area, slicing and dicing any Ethereals unfortunate enough to be in her way.
  • Sticky Fingers: Based on her website blurb, Nekomiya believes that everyone's wallets are also her wallet, even if you don't know that yet and only realize it until after she's "borrowed" it for herself.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Lampshaded. The official website states that while cats loving fish is an inaccurate stereotype, Nekomiya just happens to love fish, especially mackerel.
  • Treacherous Quest Giver: Played straight at first then subverted. In the chapter she was introduced, Nekomata commissioned the Cunning Hares with the intention of getting them killed during the commission in retaliation for them getting the leader of the Red Fang Gang (which she belonged to) killed, but changed her mind when she saw the Cunning Hares going out of their way to save the residents trapped in the construction site without her prompting.
  • Verbal Tic: In the Japanese dub, she often ends her sentences with -nya.

Victoria Housekeeping Co.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/victoria_housekeeping_co.jpeg
Thank you for using Victoria Houskeeping Co. Your wish is our command.
Even in a disaster-ridden world being threatened by reality-distorting-and-destroying threats, someone still needs to make sure everything is clean, errands get done, and the cooking is made and served on time. Enter Victoria Housekeeping Co., a manpower agency that specializes in providing the best butlers and maids you'll find in New Eridu, even with the apocalyptic state of what remains of the rest of the world. Hire their services, and you will find employees who will loyally obey your commands, keep your house spotless, and "clean up" any Ethereals and threats that may come their way.

    In General
  • Mundane Utility: For all the terrifying combat prowess of their employees in fighting against the Ethereals, they're just as often hired to clean up their clients' houses.
  • Ninja Maid: Corin, Ellen, and Rina all wear modified versions of French Maid Outfits and alongside Lycon are perfect household servants for hire as well as terrifying combatants.
  • Too Many Belts: A recurrent theme in their uniform designs is an extreme abundance of leather belts with metal buckles. For example, Corin uses trios of them as wrist cuffs, trios on the sides of her maid skirt, and one that's actually being used for its intended purpose secured around her waist and holding the chain that keeps her teddy bear with her.

"Can someone like me really manage?"
Rank: A
Fighting Style: Slash
Attribute: Physical

A 16 year old maid who wields a chainsaw in combat.

  • Apologetic Attacker: While she will still fight Ethereals as part of her duties to her client and, by extension, VH Co., during the first Tuning Test, her Ultimate voice line is her whimpering and apologizing to her opponents before she supercharges her chainsaw. To really emphasize the point, the English translations of her switch attack and her Ultimate are "Sorry..." and "Very, Very Sorry!" respectively.
    Corin: Aaah, I'm sorry...!
  • Break Meter: During the first Tuning Test, this is Corin's specialty. Alone, she does pitiful damage, and her long animations and slow movement during attacks can leave her vulnerable to retaliation, but with how fast she can fill up an enemy's stun gauge, she can easily be switched out to a Glass Cannon teammate who can finish the job or cause serious damage before they recover.
  • Chainsaw Good: During the first Tuning Test, her main weapon is a large circular saw on a spiked pole. Her ultimate involves overcharging it for increased damage.
  • Creepy Child: Subverted. She means you no harm and is genuine in her desire to do a great job, despite her doubts, but Corin's perpetual depression, anxiety, and her love of unnerving aesthetics for her stuffed animals (such as the exposed "heart" of her teddy bear or the crossed bandage "eyepatch" on her weapon's charm) often give people the wrong idea.
  • Creepy Housekeeper: Subverted. Based on a customer feedback form as part of her character reveal, her perpetual anxiety, imposter syndrome, and the chainsaw she always carries about do not give the best impression to her clients, but she's an amazing maid and the only people at threat of getting violently ripped apart are Ethereals.
  • Combat and Support: Especially with her talents, Corin can cause huge amounts of continuous damage without being interrupted by enemies, she's also great for shattering Break Meters and leaving them vulnerable for other characters to swap in and bring the hurt.
  • Cute, but Cacophonic: Corin is an adorable young girl but she is very prone to squeaking, squealing, and has a very high-pitched normal-speaking voice, besides. Fans of her sarcastically say that if you play her, make sure to wear earphones or headphones and turn the volume up to get the full experience.
  • Death of a Thousand Cuts: Corin specializes in causing a lot of hits, over a wide area, potentially hitting several different opponents at once. However, each individual hit will only cause a small amount of damage. Her talents, however, can vastly increase the total amount of damage she can do and make you less reliant on switching her out.
  • Girlish Pigtails: She wears her hair in two large pigtails, emphasizing her young appearance and her naivety and inexperience (to her mind).
  • Girls Love Stuffed Animals: Zigzagged. To emphasize her youth and her explicit Gothic Lolita styling, Corrin has two stuffed animals on her person at all times, one being her teddy bear on her back and the other being a pink bear head charm for her chainsaw. However, they are Creepy Dolls, such as her teddy bear's exposed heart or the mysterious missing eye on the charm.
  • Heroic Self-Deprecation: Based on a magazine interview in her character reveal, Corin seems completely incapable of recognizing just how competent, well-loved, and responsible of a maid she is. From her speech, you'd think she was constantly screwing up jobs and being scolded for it, rather than being held up as one of the best employees of VH Co. (with some caveats for her behavior).
  • Immune to Flinching: During the first Tuning Test, with how vulnerable many of Corin's prolonged, slow-moving attacks can make her, she either gains massive resistance to flinching or becomes completely invulnerable to being interrupted.
  • Spin Attack: Almost all of her moveset involves her spinning as much as her circular saw does, giving her excellent attack coverage over wide areas. It's especially effective with enemies fond of surrounding the player.
  • Zipperiffic: Corin's maid uniform and her belongings are covered in superfluous zippers. There are two large ones running down the whole length of her skirt and the teddy bear on her back has at least two, one open over its stomach and another across its face and over one eye in a diagonal.

Rank: S
Fighting Style: Slash
Attribute: Ice

A shark-like maid who uses a trident in combat.

  • Animal Motif: Sea creatures, namely sharks. The tail underneath her dress is reminiscent of a shark, wields a trident —a weapon associated with sea gods—, and in a Freeze-Frame Bonus, is shown to have shark-like fangs.
  • Little Bit Beastly: What little do we see in her trailer and portrait is that she has a shark tail.
  • Prongs of Poseidon: Shown wielding a trident (albeit a modified one to fit the game's setting) in her debut trailer and has sharks as her Animal Motif.

    Lycaon

Von Lycaon

"Your personal attendant Lycaon, at your service."
Rank: S
Fighting Style: Strike
Attribute: Ice

A white, gentlemanly Wolf Man with cyborg shins that works as an attendant-for-hire.

  • An Ice Person: He specializes in causing Ice damage, potentially freezing your enemies and leaving them easy prey for hard-hitting but fragile teammates or for him to continue whaling on them with impunity.
  • Battle Butler: As one of the only male servants at VH Co., he works as hard as his fellow Ninja Maids and is very respectful. He's also one of the residents in the house you can hire. In battle, he can use his robotic leg to kick his opponents.
  • Charge Attack: All of his moves, during the first Tuning Test, can be charged for additional damage or to add Ice damage, without the need for using skills.
  • Combat and Support: As of the Tuning Test, Von Lycaon has some of the fastest, most flexible, and hard-hitting attacks in the current roster, making him an excellent DPS. However, he can also charge to imbue his attacks with Ice damage, immobilizing enemies and rendering them easy targets for everyone else.
  • Combat Pragmatist: Though he's modeled after a Victorian-era gentleman, don't expect him to honor any unwritten rules of engagement while in a Hollow, fighting against Ethereals. During the first Tuning Test, his 4th Talent, "Ruthless Hunter", has him calmly state he shows no mercy, and that you've come to the wrong place if you expect a fair fight within a Hollow.
  • Combat Stilettos: Male example. His cybernetic feet possess pronounced heels on the soles that accentuate his Mr. Fanservice aspect and, since he is a kick-based fighter, it can really hurt a lot when he lands a blow with the front of his foot.
  • Cyborg: His shins are completely robotic. In the Skills menu, he will raise one leg and extend all the hidden mechanisms, revealing there is only a metallic skeleton and robotic servos underneath.
  • Extremity Extremist: If he doesn't have his hands literally behind his back when he fights, he only uses them to maintain his balance while he's using his cybernetic shins to kick the ever-loving daylights out of enemies. What makes this especially notable is that his gloves have metal components that could augment a punch and he has wolf claws that can shred, and possess a relatively large and imposing build for his upper-body strength.
  • Furry Reminder: While he is humanoid in design and largely behaves no differently than a human butler would, Von Lycaon is still a Wolf Man with several canine quirks. In his magazine interview during his character reveal, they warn of a feral side he keeps suppressed, his Talent descriptions have him warning against looking directly at a Full Moon, and the Flavor Text for his 2nd Talent (during the first Tuning Test), "Energy Feedback", is an excerpt from the "Handbook of Unreliable Canine Research" that talks of training a dog through the use of positive reinforcement.
  • Gameplay and Story Integration: In his 4th Talent (during the first Tuning Test), he warns that he does not intend to fight fair. His attacks have the Ice element, which can leave an enemy frozen and unable to retaliate or defend themselves.
  • Hellbent For Leather: Aside from the decorative belts that adorn the uniforms of VH Co., Von Lycaon has an unbuckled muzzle over his face that obscures one eye like an eyepatch and a series of belts strapped to his bushy tail.
  • Mr. Fanservice: He’s a handsome wolf man that’s Hellbent For Leather and wears tight pants that accentuate his shapely legs and rear end.
  • Neat Freak: Part of his official blurb on the website is, "Rational and wise, a true gentleman who can't tolerate a single stain". Though, this is just to be expected from a top-notch butler from an agency that prides itself on providing only the best service.
  • Ornamental Weapon: The metallic components on his gloves and claws, which would allow him to throw a punch and slash opponents with respectively. However, because he only uses kicks for fighting, they only end up as a form of decorative accessory.
  • Rocket-Powered Weapon: His prosthetic shins have jet boosters attached to them. Since he mostly fights via kicks, you can imagine how much more devastating these make them. You can particularly see it during his ultimate animation, as seen during the Combat Trailer.
  • Undying Loyalty: Hire him, and his website blurb says he "offers absolute loyalty to the one he decides to follow".
  • Werewolf Theme Naming: Is a Wolf Man named Von Lycaon.

A refined maid who can control puppets when in combat.

  • Marionette Master: Though not marionettes, the ghost-like puppets in her portrait are shown to be floating while her hands are reminiscent of that of a puppet master.
  • Ms. Fanservice: Despite her conservative wardrobe, she has an Impossible Hourglass Figure and her breasts rival those of Nicole and Grace. Her refined mannerisms also add to her appeal.
  • Power Floats: Rina floats around while in combat instead of walking or running.

Hollow Special Operations Section Six

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/hollow_special_operations_section_six.jpeg
Eradicate all evil — we decide for ourselves what "evil" is.
A frontline unit of Hollow Special Operations, an armed force dedicated to responding to Hollow disasters.

    In General
  • Non-Uniform Uniform: Based on Miyabi and Soukaku, a female H.S.O.S.6. agent's uniform is composed of a white dress shirt, a black necktie, a black skirt, and finally, a jacket in the organization's shade of cyan. However, the exact lengths and styles you wear them in vary, as while Miyabi uses an extremely traditional and conservative skirt that reaches past her knees, Soukaku wears a mini-skirt that barely covers her waist and exposes much of her thighs and ankles.
  • Order Versus Chaos: Firmly on the side of "Order" vs the Ethereals' "Chaos". Among Hollow Divers, they contrast with the ragtag group of street mercenaries the Cunning Hares, as compared to them, Hollow Special Operations Section Six is a highly-organized military or paramilitary organization with uniforms, a strict guiding philosophy, and larger ambitions in New Eridu beyond being paid or making ends meet.
  • Tautological Templar: As exemplified by Section Six's leader, Miyabi, Hollow Special Operations believes themselves to be the ultimate good in a world that is constantly falling apart at the seams, by eradicating anything and everything they determine to be "evil".

The head of Hollow Special Operations Section Six, and the successor of a renowned martial art family. A serious and reserved katana-wielding swordswoman with a strong sense of responsibility towards upholding order within New Eridu, she aspires to build an "unbreakable city management system" as well as own a "sizable collection of swords".

  • An Ice Person: Many of her attacks cause Ice damage, capable of freezing opponents.
  • Familiar: Has a shikigami that resembles a black, horned ball with one giant red eye covered in blue flames that follows and assists her in battle. It also possesses her katana during her ultimate.
  • Iaijutsu Practitioner: Many of her attacks are based on drawing and slashing with her Japanese-style sword, sheathing it in between combos to repeat the process.
  • Little Bit Beastly: Has fox ears that twitch on the character screen.
  • Speed Blitz: Like Nekomiya, she is capable of moving and slashing so fast, she can be nearly impossible to see until after she's stopped and her enemies have been sliced to bits or frozen solid.
  • Yamato Nadeshiko: With her pale skin, long black hair worn in a Hime Cut, her soft-spoken speech and feminine dress while being lightning quick with her blade, she fits the image of a proper Japanese lady. Her name (written as é›… in kanji) even means refined or elegance.

"I'm happy as long as I can eat my fill~"
Rank: A
Fighting Style: Slash
Attribute: Ice

Both a member and an "asset" of Section 6, enemies who underestimate Soukaku have a tendency to "vanish from existence". Her immaturity allows her to uncover simple truths, not unlike the boy in the folktale "The Emperor's New Clothes".

  • Amazing Technicolor Population: Is the only character from the First Tuning Test whose skin colour (blue and some black on her tail) is outside of the usual skin tones.
  • Blow You Away: Her special attacks, assist attack and ultimate deal wind damage.
  • Cool Mask: Puts on a metal mask unleashing her attack in her ultimate.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: Reading between the lines of her profile description — her obsession with food and anger at wasting any, her limited education, her description of being an "asset" of Section 6 — it is strongly implied that she was homeless before getting scooped up by Section Six to serve as one of their blunt instruments.
  • Never Learned to Read: Her profile describes her as "somewhat uneducated" due to certain circumstances, affecting her pronunciation of words, and her reading and writing skills.
Few people know her full nickname is: "The cute little one who always gobbles down everything she can and is super happy when full but can't reed or rite". (Note: This was written by Soukaku herself).
  • Oni: Japanese-inspired background? Check. Horns? Check. Weapon of choice is a huge bludgeon? Check.
  • Pointy Ears: Has a pair of these to enhance her design as a non-human character.
  • Spin Attack: Her combo strings and Ultimate involve a lot of spinning, which makes sense because part of her moveset is creating air vortexes.

Belobog Heavy Industries

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/belobog_heavy_industries.jpeg
Our goal is not to build a house, but a home.
Though the world is shattered in pieces thanks to the Hollow, it can rebuild itself with people willing to do the hard labor of construction, mining, and demolition, and the like. Be it building the path to a better tomorrow, making sure today's roof doesn't collapse over your head, or dealing with the threat of Hollows and Ethereals, Belobog Industries has employees willing to put in the work.

    In General
  • Animal Motifs: Bears. Aside from Ben, who is a bear demi-human, their logo is of a bear demi-human wearing a hard hat with a miner's light, and some members like Koleda have a headband with bear ears.
  • Bare Midriffs Are Feminine: The playable female characters of Belobog Heavy Industries are Tank Top Tomboys who leave their belly exposed.
  • Big, Thin, Short Trio: Ben, Anton, and Koleda, the first three revealed characters. Ben is a very large and fat bear demi-human, Anton is a very tall, muscular, but slim adult man, and Koleda appears to be a young teenage girl who's very short as a consequence.
  • Face of a Thug: With the exception of Koleda, the face of the company, Anton and Ben only look like threatening gangster types. Anton can't stop himself from helping people and is very considerate of others, Ben is just a normal guy who happens to look like a violent enforcer, his actual job is as an accountant and he's very calm and polite when the player speaks to him in New Eridu.
  • Weapons of Their Trade: The employees of Belobog Industries all fight using construction equipment from their normal jobs as day laborers. These can include semi-realistic options like wrenches or hammers, to more impractical and fantastical options like a powered drill or a piledriver.
  • Yakuza: Part of their design theme. Japanese organized crime is infamous for putting up fronts in the construction industry, and the three currently revealed characters, during the first Tuning Test, all resemble Yakuza or Japanese Delinquents in some way with their golden chains, their jackets being worn as a Coat Cape, or their rough-and-tumble attitudes and menacing appearances.

"I'm Belobog Heavy Industries' president, Koleda."
Rank: S
Fighting Style: Strike
Attribute: Fire

The young, feisty, fiery president of Belobog Industries. Explosive as her temper may be, she's a great leader, demanding nothing but hard work and determination from all her employees to make sure that their constructions aren't just mere buildings you'd inhabit out of desperation but places you'll want to live in. Despite this, she moonlights as a Hollow-diver, venturing into these warped pockets of reality with construction tools and a near-infinite supply of demolition charges in hand.

  • Affectionate Nickname: Instead of being referred to as "president" like Anton, Grace affectionately calls Koleda "sweet pea".
  • Animal Motifs: Bears. She has a headband that looks like bear ears.
  • Combination Attack: With Ben. One of her special moves has Ben appear, put his pile driver over the enemy, before Koleda smashes it with her hammer to cause a devastating shockwave.
  • Dual Wielding: She uses her hammer and wrench simultaneously, but her hammer has the lion's share of special moves.
  • Eyepatch of Power: She has an eyepatch over her right eye (left side of the audience), whose golden pattern resembles a bear's jaws.
  • Fiery Redhead: She has blazing red hair and has a very passionate, violent personality.
  • Girlish Pigtails: Though she's decidedly rather unfeminine in behavior, her voluminous red pigtails emphasize how she's still a young girl despite how "mature and professional" she tries to act. For example, she threatens one of her employees to give herself an excuse to buy ice cream and when she buys two business periodicals and the newsstand dog doesn't have enough change, she throws in a shojo manga and accidentally mentions that she's been eagerly following the story.
  • Grade-School C.E.O.: She barely looks like she's out of high school but she's the president of a highly successful construction firm. That said, she does act like her age sometimes, with her magazine interview mentioning that her employees sometimes have to take over the role, and she has some incredibly childish outbursts like saying Ben wanted to go out to get ice cream, and then when Ben says he did not, Koleda then insists that Ben wanted to go out to get ice cream, not her.
  • Hammerspace: Where she stores all those demo-charges on her person is a mystery, especially with how many of them she will use over the course of a single combat encounter.
  • I Take Offense to That Last One: One of her conversations has her recounting telling an old lady she's the CEO of Belobog, and the old lady saying she didn't realize "elementary school boys" these days could be so accomplished. Koleda only takes offense to "elementary".
  • Lady Looks Like a Dude: Due to how stereotypically manly and tomboyish Koleda acts, some strangers mistake her for being a boy. One supposes the flat chest doesn't help.
  • Mad Bomber: She's a sadistic and hot-tempered young girl who has no tolerance for stupid people and even stupider people. Aside from smashing her "toys" with her sledgehammer, she's just as fond of using the countless high-explosives that she takes from Belobog Industries' usual demolitions work. Seeing as she's the president, it's probably all accounted for in their books.
  • Muscles Are Meaningless: Anton has bigger muscles than she does, but she onced carried several of her co-workers, including Anton and a bear demi-human, on her back while cement surfing.
  • The Napoleon: She's the president of Belobog Industries, having turned it around from a rough spot and back into a very profitable company relying on a strong work ethic from its employees as its new foundations. She's a ferocious fighter when Hollow-diving, blowing up and smashing any Ethereals to bits. She also has an extreme complex about her short height, where she will refuse a second a interview with a journalist if they keep their mic stands so high.
  • Non-Idle Rich: She prefers being out in the field doing the same hard labor as her employees than being stuck behind a desk, despite being the president.
  • Playing with Fire: She can imbue her attacks with Fire damage, igniting enemies and causing continuous damage. It's justified in-universe by her carrying and using countless kilos of demolition charges.
  • Wrench Whack: The other half of her weapons of choice is an adjustable wrench.

"Tough job? I got this!"
Rank: A
Fighting Style: Pierce
Attribute: Electric

This senior staff member serves as Belobog Heavy Industries' onsite project manager. Open, honest, and full of vigor, nothing seems to upset him. Despite his sharp tongue, he has a soft heart, and can't say "no" to those in need — and always rises to the occasion.

  • Chronic Hero Syndrome: His magazine interview cover says that he can't stop himself from helping people in need.
  • Coat Cape: He wears his work jacket like a cape, much like how Japanese Delinquents are known to.
  • Hot-Blooded: He's extremely passionate about exercise and giving his all, to the point where people are oftentimes left in the dust just trying to keep up with him.
  • Martial Arts Headband: He wears a headband in the colors of yellow-black "hazard" lines, likely due to the incredibly dangerous, debris-prone, and explosive work Belobog Industries is often involved with.
  • Shock and Awe: He can deal electric attacks with his drill.
  • Shonen Hair: Befitting his incredibly passionate personality and playing to every male anime protagonist stereotype you can think of, Anton has extremely spiky hair held back by his headband.
  • This Is a Drill: Aside from his fists, Anton fights with an arm-mounted drill. His ultimate skill has him drilling into the ground, causing shockwaves that grow progressively larger.

"I'm kind of a math nerd, but that doesn't stop me from beating on some thugs."
Rank: A
Fighting Style: Strike
Attribute: Fire

Belobog Heavy Industries' Head of Finance and a bear demi-human. An honest and meticulous accountant with a love of math, but also a strong and intimidating figure. When venturing into a Hollow, he is primarily a defense-focused teammate, one of the few characters capable of blocking incoming damage.

  • Acrofatic: As befitting a bear, he is very large and has a noticeable gut, but he can swing his gigantic pile driver with terrifying speed and run at roughly the same speed as everyone else, if by virtue of covering a lot more ground with each step than a human.
  • Baritone of Strength: As befitting a bear who can survive the chaos in a Hollow.
  • The Big Guy: He is extremely large, as befitting being a bear, and wields one of the largest weapons in the game, a pile driver.
  • Blocking Stops All Damage: Assuming you block just before an enemy attack hits, Ben will completely nullify the damage. Otherwise, it deals 80% less damage.
  • Hidden Depths: You wouldn't expect at first glance that Ben is primarily an accountant, working in finance and operations.
  • Rugged Scar: Has one where his right eye is supposed to be, showing that he's blind in that eye.
  • Theme Naming: All of his basic moves are named after terms in business accounting, such as "Missing Invoice", "Accounts Receivable", and "Cashflow Counter".

  • Idiot Hair: Has a small strand on top of her hair.
  • Jiggle Physics: Grace's breasts are like gelatin with how much they bounce around in cutscenes.
  • Motherly Scientist: Treats all of Belobog's high-power construction machinery like children to be doted on, even the ones that violently malfunction.
  • Ms. Fanservice: She's very well-endowed (her breasts are almost as big as her head in-game), and she shows a lot of her midriff thanks to her top (which is little more than a sports bra), on top of being one of the taller playable women in the game thus far.
  • Tomboyish Ponytail: Is depicted with a low ponytail and has a seemingly boyish personality, though not as boyish as Koleda.

"I don't care where you've been, but whatever the case, I await my orders."
Rank: S
Fighting Style: Slash
Attribute: Fire

A soldier who solely dedicates herself to completing any mission given to her.

  • Child Soldier: Heavily implied. She's very youthful in appearance, with her website description saying she only thinks of herself as a weapon.
  • Consummate Professional: What Soldier 11 demands of herself. She is not here to question orders, she is here to carry them out, no matter what.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: Her website blurb alludes to an extremely dark past, with how Soldier 11 has chosen to abandon her emotions, her doubts, and her past identity to dutifully perform all her missions and orders... or so she thinks.
  • Playing with Fire: She specializes in Fire damage, with many of her attacks setting enemies ablaze or causing a fire when she moves.
