Original Members: Alfredo, Barbara, Charlotte, Joe, Jon, Matt
Team Swap Members (Green Team): Alfredo, Barbara, Matt, Patrick
Additional Members: Charlotte

  • Anti-Hero Team: Compared to the Blue Team, the Red Team is far more openly strategic from the get-go, and while they feign loyalty, are openly willing to turn on each other to win the show. In spite of this, none of them are truly villainous outside of Alfredo, and form plenty of real bonds over the course of the game.
  • I Gave My Word: For all the original team's distrust, they stick by each other's team alliance unless absolutely necessary. In the end, five of them make it to the end of the game, with the only reason Matt got voted out being due to there only being Red Team members left at the vote.
  • Out of Focus: They never face much in the way of outright hostility or drama during the first third of the season as a result of them constantly winning challenges. Subverted following the team swap, where they actually start losing challenges.
  • Red Is Heroic: Averted; while the Red Team take center stage over the course of the season in terms of strategy and Character Development, they prove themselves far more morally gray than the rival Blue Team.
  • Teeth-Clenched Teamwork: Far more openly distant from each other than the Blue Team, actively scheming and making plans behind each other's backs for the future. With that said, they still work together very well, and its through their teamwork that most of them make it to the merge.
  • Two Girls to a Team: Barbara and Charlotte are the only female members of the team.
    • After Charlotte gets swapped onto the Green Team following Patrick's elimination, this remains true with her and Barbara.

    Alfredo

Alfredo Diaz

Team(s): Red Team -> Green Team -> Purple Team (Merge)
Occupation(s): Achievement Hunter
Challenge Wins: 4 note
Votes Received: 7 note
Episode Eliminated: Episode 9: The Final Four
Placement: Runner-Up (2 jury votes to win)

  • Arch-Enemy: To Charlotte. She constantly votes for and targets him, to a point of genuine annoyance from him.
  • Big Bad Duumvirate: With Barbara, as the main antagonists for season 1.
    • Big Bad: Between the two, however, Alfredo is the more openly antagonistic and villainous of the two. He orchestrates (or attempts as much) the eliminations of several players, openly backstabs and burns bridges with the rest of the cast (including Joe, his number one ally), and generally is quite the thorn in everyone's side.
    • Big Bad Wannabe: At the same time though, while he may have been more openly villainous, ultimately every decision he made in the game was as a result of Barbara's excellent social navigation, and nearly all their best strategies came from her. Arguably, had he not made an alliance with her, its unlikely he'd have been as effective as he was.
  • Brutal Honesty: While Barbara and Matt worry about telling Charlotte that they voted Patrick off, Alfredo drops any level of subtlety and just tells her outright.
  • Card-Carrying Villain: Openly admits himself to be a manipulator more than willing to lie and screw over anyone in his way to come out on top. He only takes this to another level come Episode 8, where backstabbing his allies and stirring the pot becomes his priority.
  • Downer Ending: In the end, Alfredo received nothing in the way of compensation for backstabbing his closest allies and making enemies of the entire jury, leaving one to wonder if it was worth it.
  • Eviler than Thou: Repeatedly proves himself far more conniving and cruel than the rest of the Red Alliance through just how cutthroat he's willing to play in order to gain any ground in the game.
    • In Episode 8, whereas Barbara proves a little unwilling to betray anyone in the Red Alliance come the endgame, Alfredo is openly interested in throwing Joe under the bus in spite of his longterm loyalty.
  • The Face: Takes credit for every action the Red Alliance takes throughout the game, including everyone they voted out and screwed over. This comes back to bite him come the finale, as he's left with a very bitter jury.
  • Fatal Flaw: His own overconfidence in his gameplay. Not only was he left oblivious to just how bitter the jury ultimately was toward him for his cruel gameplay, but he completely underestimated Barbara's own contributions to his gameplay, leaving him little in the way of convincing the jury, and only receiving 2 jury votes to win, ending the game in second.
  • Genius Bruiser: One of the biggest manipulators of the season, and only second to Joe in terms of raw challenge performance.
  • Hated by All: By the merge, Alfredo's reputation is thoroughly in the toilet. Nobody trusts him and half the cast are actively gunning for him, forcing him to use an Immunity Totem two episodes in a row to avoid elimination. By the end of the season, he's tied for the most votes of the cast.
  • Jerkass Has a Point: As Alfredo points out at camp, Red Team doesn't gotta worry about strategy as long as they keep winning challenges- and sure enough, their constant winning stops them from having to confront it. ZigZagged in that he's actually doing this as a means of trying to get the rest of the team to drop their guard around him while he forms a majority alliance.
  • Kick the Dog:
    • Repays Joe's constant loyalty to him since day one by openly attempting to blindside him in Episode 8. While both Barbara and Jon are hesitant to do so due to the alliance, Alfredo shows no such sympathy.
    • Holds a meeting in Episode 8 to "air things out" for no other reason to spark drama and distrust between the other contestants. He openly admits to only doing so because he knows he's safe.
  • Obvious Villain, Secret Villain: The Obvious Villain to Barbara's Secret Villain.
  • Out of Focus: In Episode 3.
  • Paper Tiger: By the end of the season, for all of Alfredo's supposed big moves and spectacle, his resume falls flat and he's unable to convince the jury he pissed off to vote for him, causing him to lose just before the finish line.
  • Schemer: Identified as one by Barbara as soon as they're placed on the same team. It doesn't take long for him to prove her right.
  • Sitcom Arch-Nemesis: Gets really caught up on how frequently Charlotte votes for him, to a point where he directly confronts her about it in multiple episodes.
  • Smug Snake: Is confident he has the game in the bag by the last few episodes, stating that he played a perfect game and that the others don't have anywhere near as good of a resume compared to what he accomplished.
    • Too Clever by Half: Unfortunately, for all his confidence that he was running the game, he was ultimately little more than a shield for the actual schemer between the two, Barbara.
  • Those Two Guys: With Joe; they're rarely seen apart after the first episode. That doesn't stop Alfredo from betraying Joe just before the Final Chopping Block, however.
  • Token Evil Teammate: While the Red Team as a whole is playing to win, Alfredo sticks out as the only truly antagonistic member, and the season's eventual villain.
  • Villainous Friendship: With Joe and Barbara, ultimately forming the Red Alliance with them.
    • Slowly Averted over the course of the game as power goes to his head. By the last few episodes he's noticed how much of a threat Joe is and decides to throw him under the bus, and only keeps Barbara around because he feels he has a better chance with the jury over her.

    Barbara

Team(s): Red Team -> Green Team -> Purple Team (Merge)
Occupation(s): Squad Team Force
Challenge Wins: 4 note
Votes Received: 1 note
Episode Eliminated: N/A; Won in Episode 9: The Final Four
Placement: Winner (5 jury votes to win)

  • Anti-Villain: Works with Alfredo throughout the game, but proves herself far more amicable and easy to work with in comparison to him.
  • Badass Bookworm: Challenge-wise, she's among the worst in the game. But she's able to make up for shocking strategic competence and making the right moves at the right time.
  • Big Bad Duumvirate: With Alfredo, as the main antagonists for season 1.
    • Lesser of Two Evils: While she may have worked with Alfredo throughout the game, between the two she was much more openly friendly to rest of the cast. These stronger bonds were part of what allowed her to win over the jury.
  • The Chessmaster: Arguably the single best strategist of the season.
    • With help from Alfredo, she manages to get Matt eliminated just before the merge by convincing him and Charlotte to vote for Alfredo. When they do so, Alfredo plays his Immunity Totem, and thus has the only eligible vote, eliminating Matt from the game while she comes out looking loyal.
    • Once again, she uses BK confiding in her about her want to vote Alfredo out against her, telling the Red Alliance about her plans and once again giving Alfredo the chance to use an Immunity Totem, nullifying the alliance's votes and allowing them to get out the biggest threat in the game.
    • She's able to convince Gus that Red Team is dysfunctional and unorganized, giving him a false sense of confidence- so much so that he gives his Immunity Totem away to Charlotte, unknowingly causing his own elimination as a result of the Red Alliance splitting their votes between him and Charlotte.
  • Chessmaster Sidekick: Sure, Alfredo may be the leader of the alliance, but Barbara is clearly the brains.
  • Hazy-Feel Turn: While she still very much is in it to win it in the last two episodes, Barbara's game noticeably shifts come the final five, as by that point she had formed genuine bonds with the rest of the players since she's known them since day one. Notably, this is the first time the whole game where Barbara doesn't immediately back up Alfredo's idea of who should go next.
  • Hidden Depths: For all her lack of experience, Barbara proved herself a rather resourceful and perceptive player. Notably, on day one she was immediately able to identify Alfredo as a threat, which would go on to prove itself true. This allowed her to form an alliance with him early, leading to the two's future takeover of the game.
  • Just One Little Mistake: Very nearly played straight; in a state of panic, Barbara tells Joe about the original plan to eliminate him in Episode 8. Had he not been subsequantly eliminated, this could have gone bad for her...
  • Karma Houdini: Manages to get away scot-free for her actions in manipulating Matt, BK, and Gus' eliminations without being any worse for wear in terms of reputation amongst the remaining players.
  • The Load: A self-admitted one; she knows she's not very good at Minecraft and is much more of a hindrance than an asset to her team in challenges. Come the merge, however, and she uses this fact to slip under the radar and not come across as a threat.
    • Possibly best shown in Episode 7. While a majority of the cast struggles decently with the parkour, they're at least making solid progress...With the exception of Barbara. She doesn't even make it to the first checkpoint (of over a dozen) until Joe has made it to the final one.
  • Loved by All: Barbara is able to skate through the pre-merge without incident in spite of her lack of skill thanks to sheer likability. She's brought into Alfredo's alliance, has a secret partnership with Charlotte, and is completely off the radar of Jon and Matt. This carries forward through the swap and eventual merge.
  • The Man Behind the Man: While Alfredo may have been The Face of all their conspiring, she was in all reality the brains between the two of them, being responsible for the two's biggest moves.
  • Obvious Villain, Secret Villain: The Secret Villain to Alfredo's Obvious Villain.
  • Out of Focus: In Episode 3.
  • Pet the Dog:
    • Forms a genuine friendship with Charlotte throughout the game, and while they may not be in the same alliance and Barbara does frequently use her for their strategies, she honestly attempts to keep in her in the game as long as she can.
    • She's 100% loyal to the Red Alliance. Sure, she's down for manipulating and eliminating people outside of it, but she noticeably sounds hesitant to backstab Joe come the endgame once Alfredo suggests it. Downplayed in that she still agrees to his plans as long as she's able to stay in the game.
    • Tells Joe about Alfredo's plan to vote him out in Episode 8 after the challenge in Episode 9. Once again, Downplayed, as there is a clear strategic edge to it, but it was a genuine showing of good will.
  • Playing Both Sides: Is working with Alfredo and Joe, while also working with Charlotte and Matt. This comes to a head when shes uses her alliance with the latter to get them to vote for Alfredo so he can use his Totem to get Matt out, all without looking like she betrayed anyone.
  • The Social Expert: Arguably boasts the single best social game across both seasons; she's always either allies with those she's around, or is falling under the radar enough to not be targeted by those she isn't allied with. By the last few episodes, she's effectively every player's number one ally.
  • Sole Survivor: Manage to convince the jury with her gameplay and strategy that she deserved to win, earning a majority of 5 jury votes and walking away the victor of the season.
  • Sympathetic P.O.V.: While she and Alfredo both arguably played sinister, antagonistic games, this is where they distinctly separate. Namely, while Alfredo is a Card-Carrying Villain and Smug Snake who twists the knife on the regular, Barbara is given more genuinely sweet moments with her team, Charlotte especially.
    • Best shown off in Episode 9. Whereas Alfredo uses his first confessional to talk big game about how he's guaranteed to win and played things perfectly, Barbara's is spent with her talking about how proud she is to have gotten this far in spite of her lack of skill.
  • Throwing the Fight: Agrees to throw the challenge with Matt in Episode 4 so they can get Charlotte back on their team. She never gets the chance to pull her side of the bargain though.

Team(s): Red Team -> Gray Team -> Green Team -> Purple Team (Merge)
Occupation(s): Funhaus
Challenge Wins: 3 note
Votes Received: 7 note
Episode Eliminated: Episode 8: Carrots and Potatoes
Placement: 5th place

  • Arch-Enemy: To Alfredo. She votes for him at every Chopping Block she attends, which constantly ends up frustrating him.
  • Born Lucky: Spared from elimination in Episode 7 when Gus gave her his Immunity Totem. This ultimately got him eliminated, meaning she didn't even have to pay him back for it afterward.
  • Deadpan Snarker: Second only to Gus in terms of witty comments and wordplay.
  • Dog Got Sent to a Farm: The other members of Green Team try this with her to get around explaining they voted Patrick off. Gus lampshades as much at the next challenge.
  • Fatal Flaw: Her not taking the game very seriously lead to her frequently being on the bottom and just outside the alliance's plans. Come the endgame, there was effectively nothing she could do to rebound.
  • Guest Host: In Episode 4, where her lack of team allows her to make jokes with Trevor.
  • I Should Write a Book About This: Brings up how not getting given a team initially during the team swap will give her a chance to write her novel...Then backtracks after realizing that'd require work.
  • The Jinx: Comes to the conclusion she may be one in Episode 7, because both people she had personal conversations with (Matt and BK) were eliminated in the episodes she did so. Gus' subsequant elimination right after she hung out with them only confirms this in her mind.
  • Nice Girl: Arguably the kindest contestant on the season overall. Even her occasional mean joke is always taken in stride.
  • Out of Focus: In Episode 3.
  • Platonic Life-Partners: With Patrick, in spite of being on different teams.
  • Playing Both Sides: Played for Laughs; she makes jokes at both team's expense during Episode 4. She even questions who she's supposed to root for.
  • Plucky Comic Relief: Charlotte's a self-admitted jokester and sees her greatest asset as "entertainment value". Mixed with her lack of solid skill at the game, and she provides the bulk of the humor for an already fairly funny cast.
  • Shoo Out the Clowns: Served largely as little more than comic relief for most of the series. This meant by the last few episodes, she was the only person not actively trying to win the game. Sure enough, she's eliminated in the penultimate episode, leaving the finale to focus solely on the strongest competitors left in the cast.
  • The Shrink: The island's closest thing to a therapist.
    • Psycho Psychologist: Unfortunately, she's unlicensed and quite terrible at it, lacking the empathy necessary to be any sort of help. When Jon tells her about his abandonment issues, her only response is to tell him to, "get good".
  • Voted Off the Island: Eliminated in Episode 8, ending the game in 5th place overall.
    • Last Words: "Hey listen, we all have our time in the sun. Can I drop a tiny little bomb? I'll just say in the last round, I didn't vote for Fredo- but I was not willing to burn a bridge, so I just allowed everyone to think that it was the same playbook I was playing. So, you guys figure that out, and also, took you long enough, Goddamn! Take me, Lord!"
    • Elimination Statement: "The Charlotte "Kiss of Death" is widely known in Minecraft circles in that- you don't wanna hang out with me. You gotta stay away, cause people close to me die. And who's closer to you then yourself? And unfortunately that made me a recipient of the kiss of death myself. Who woulda thought? I hadn't consider my "Kiss of Death" being anything but a coincidence. Thanks for the melons!"

Occupation(s): Achievement Hunter
Challenge Wins: 6 note
Votes Received: 4 note
Episode Eliminated: Episode 9: The Final Four
Placement: 4th place

  • Alas, Poor Villain: One can't help but feel heartbroken when Joe is finally shown Alfredo's true colors and is betrayed. Sure, most could see it coming from a mile away, but Joe sounds genuinely devestated through the whole thing.
  • Big Bad Duumvirate: Subverted; Joe thinks he and Alfredo are this, but time slowly proves that he's little more than Alfredo's pawn and lacks much power in the game outside their alliance. In all reality, Barbara is the real brains of the alliance and Alfredo's actual number two.
  • The Big Guy: The single most talented contestant of the season in terms of raw challenge performance, winning a vast majority of episodes. To put into perspective, he was only eligible to be voted for in 3 episodes out of the total 9.
  • Big "NO!": Let's one out in horror as he realizes Alfredo betrayed him.
  • The Brute: Serves as the primary muscle of the Red Alliance.
  • Cassandra Truth: Refuses to believe Barbara's claims that Alfredo and her were originally going to vote him off in Episode 8. He's simply too loyal to Alfredo to budge. This ultimately leads to his own downfall.
  • Crazy Jealous Guy: Implied toward Alfredo; specifically, he's noticeably distrusting and against Barbara as the game goes on, despite being in the same alliance. It's especially noticeable when he's targetting her over her supposed lack of challenge skill while ignoring that Jon hasn't won a single one.
  • David Versus Goliath: The Goliath to Jon's David in the final challenge. And just like the tale of myth, he ultimately loses out.
  • The Dragon: To Alfredo, being his most loyal ally throughout the game.
  • Driven by Envy: An easy assumption to come to as the game goes on; between winning a challenge just to spite Alfredo and targeting Barbara in Episode 9 after a season of working with her, Joe's last few episodes are very easy to interpret as him lashing out over what he doesn't have.
  • Fatal Flaw: His own loyalty to Alfredo. Sure, it helped him get far through a strong alliance, but in the end, Alfredo was never as loyal to him as Joe was toward him, which spelled his doom.
  • Flat Character: Doesn't get much in terms of characterization beyond being Alfredo's loyal ally and being very good at challenges. He starts to grow out of this come the last few episodes, as his own pent up issues toward Alfredo slowly grow more and more.
  • Green-Eyed Monster: Grows more and more resentful of Alfredo and his strategy over the course of the game, feeling overshadowed in comparison.
    • This comes to a head in Episode 7, where despite knowing Alfredo may be in trouble, decides to prioritize himself winning anyway, stating he wasn't gonna let Alfredo take that away from him.
    • He finally gets over it come the end of Episode 8, deciding that he fully trusts Alfredo and that he has his back. Little did he know...
  • Might Makes Right: Decides to target Barbara as the final elimination pre-jury because of her abysmal challenge performances. Oddly, he ignores that Jon hasn't won a challenge yet while she has...
    • Hell, Jon lampshdades as much, defending that he arguably has done even worse than Barbara, considering she at least won the memory game in Episode 6.
  • Mistreatment-Induced Betrayal: Begins considering doing this to Alfredo, though ultimately decides not to go through with it.
  • Out of Focus: In Episode 2, Episode 3, and Episode 5.
  • Pseudo-Romantic Friendship: He's very close to Alfredo. Or at least, he thinks he is.
  • The Rival: A one-sided example, but it becomes clear over the course of the game that Joe has begun to hold a grudge against Barbara in their mutual alliance with Alfredo. He openly targets her in Episode 9, and attempts to not even hear her out after the challenge.
  • Satellite Character: To Alfredo. Whenever Joe comes up, it's always related to his partnership with Alfredo, and he rarely gets much in the way of screentime outside of that.
  • Selective Obliviousness: Refuses to believe that Alfredo was actually going to betray him in Episode 8 when told by Barbara, instead only doubling down on his distrust of her and saying he's voting for her.
  • Tempting Fate: Decides he's over his distrust of Alfredo at the end of Episode 8. Guess who is eliminated just before the jury in Episode 9?
  • Those Two Guys: With Alfredo; they're rarely seen apart after the first episode. Even as the two come to bump heads a couple times, they remain in the same alliance and frequently talk things out strategy-wise. He's left feeling heartbroken and betrayed when Alfredo betrays him.
  • Undying Loyalty: Toward Alfredo, in spite of the developing issues between them, and once they're over those, Joe trusts him more than ever!
    • He even helps Alfredo through the challenge in Episode 9, despite supposedly wanting the final immunity. He defends as much that they're all still on the same team, and yet he doesn't help Barbara and Jon. Any form of subtlety of his allegiance is thrown out the window when it's made clear he'd give his immunity to Alfredo if he won.
  • Unwitting Pawn: What his role in the Red Alliance ultimately came down to in Alfredo's eyes; for all his loyalty, Joe was little more than a number.
  • Voted Off the Island: Eliminated in Episode 9, ending the game in 4th place overall.
    • Last Words: "No! How could you! How could you do this to me! After all this time! French fries and mayonaise!"
    • Elimination Statement: "I believe if I didn't blindly miss the papers, I probably would have won that challenge. You know what the funny thing is? If I had won, I would have given it to Alfredo. What it really all came down to was...Betrayal..."

Team(s): Red Team -> Yellow Team -> Purple Team (Merge)
Occupation(s): Squad Team Force
Challenge Wins: 6 note
Votes Received: 2 note
Episode Eliminated: Episode 9: The Final Four
Placement: Runner-Up (2 jury votes to win)

  • Bling of War: Shows up to most challenges in full gold armor.
    • Armor Is Useless: Unfortunately, the armor he's always wearing does nothing to actually help him in the challenges.
  • Bittersweet Ending: Sure, he didn't win, but as he admitted himself, he didn't see himself getting this far in the first place, and ends the game ultimately proud of his gameplay.
  • Butt-Monkey: If Chris is the designated punching bag of the Blue Team, Jon is it for the Red Team. He spends the entire season panicking and anxious about his place in the game, is repeatedly clarified as being at the bottom of the Red Team totem pole in terms of power, is forced into an alliance with people he doesn't trust at risk of elimination, and all the while is rarely given much in the form of respect from much of anyone.
  • Classical Anti-Hero: Socially oblivious, generally nervous about his position in the game, and struggles to adapt to the mental elements under the pressure of challenges and eliminations.
  • Cowardly Lion: Is constantly concerned and nervous, often on the verge of a panic attack. In spite of this, he actually is a fairly friendly and all around likable guy.
  • David Versus Goliath: The David against Joe's Goliath in the final challenge. Miraculously, he wins!
  • Fatal Flaw: His own insecurity. He was unable to properly plead his case to the jury due to heavily downplaying his own accomplishments, leading to him only securing jury votes and ending the game in second.
  • Friendly Enemy: Prior to his spleef matches in Episode 2, Jon takes time to bow to the enemy team out of respect...Only for Gus and Patrick to misinterpret this as mocking them.
  • Funny Background Event: While the Red Team alliance is discussing the vote in Episode 6, the entire time Jon is building up a tower. He doesn't get called out on it for a good thirty seconds, and by then, he's high enough he can barely hear the others.
  • Friendship Denial: Played for Laughs; when insinuated he and Chris are close outside the game, Jon immediately denies as much.
  • Heroic Self-Deprecation: The sweetest member of the Red Alliance, and Red Team as a whole. He's also rarely not insulting himself.
  • Hidden Depths: For all his supposed cowardice, he actually proves himself a fairly resourceful competitor, consistently performing very well in challenges. This gets noticed by the rest of the Red Alliance come Episode 8, as Jon managed to keep up with Alfredo and Joe fairly well.
    • A brief one-off conversational point during the Episode 6 Chopping Block has him imply his anxiety is likely a result of his deep-seated abandonment issues.
  • Mook: Pulled into the Red Alliance as little more than a number to add to their ranks. Jon's more than aware of this fact, but feels he lacks any options to do otherwise.
  • Nervous Wreck: A self-admitted one; his biggest worry once he's competing is the idea of his own anxiety getting the best of him.
  • Nice Guy: A genuinely kind-hearted, well-meaning guy. This especially sticks out came the last few episodes where he's still going out of his way to try and treat his competition well, including those outside his alliance.
  • Odd Friendship: Forms one with Jon once they realize they're on the bottom of the power dynamic, working together against Alfredo and Joe. Between the two, Jon is the more emotional of the pair, a lot more openly worried about their lack of influence and overthinking things.
  • Out of Focus: In Episode 5 and Episode 7.
  • Pet the Dog:
    • Defends Barbara's supposed lack of challenge skill by bringing up she won Episode 6. This does nothing to help him, and arguably it'd be a good thing for him to let her take pressure off himself considering his lack of power, and yet he does so regardless.
  • Properly Paranoid: While he may a bit of anxious mess, its not for the wrong reasons; notably, he quickly pieces together that he's on the outs strategically, that Alfredo and Joe are aligned, and that Joe has an Immunity Totem.
  • Token Good Teammate: Of the largely morally gray Red Team, Jon sticks out as the most openly kind and friendly member.
  • True Neutral: Invoked; come the merge and the loss of his closest ally, Matt, Jon more or less commits to an "anyone but me" mentality with the votes. He even openly agrees to work with Alfredo and Joe, in spite of obviously not trusting them, as long as it keeps him in the game.

Team(s): Red Team -> Green Team
Occupation(s): Achievement Hunter
Challenge Wins: 3 note
Votes Received: 2 note
Episode Eliminated: Episode 5: Treasure Trove of Trust
Placement: 8th place

  • The Ace: In a cast of players largely not very good at the game, Matt sticks out for being genuinely very good by every technical level. He quickly proves himself incredibly useful in challenges.
    • The Worf Effect: Unfortunately, this proves him as far too big of a threat to keep around in Alfredo's eyes, and he's voted out just before the merge thanks to a Totem play, establishing Alfredo as the greater player between the two.
  • Crazy-Prepared: Left all of his stuff in a chest back at Green Team camp in Episode 5, just in case he got voted off. This turned out to be a good idea.
  • Fatal Flaw: Oddly, his own safety in the game spelled his undoing. Matt is such a good player that he never had any reason to form a lot of alliances, talk strategy, or worry about getting voted out because he was simply so useful that it'd be dumb to get rid of him while teams were a factor. This left him completely open for a blindside, which Alfredo and Barbara took advantage of.
  • The Generic Guy: Justified; Matt is the only player in the competition who plays Minecraft on the regular already, and as a result, doesn't struggle with the survival aspect or the challenges. And due to Red Team's early winning streak and his skill being useful in challenges, he has no reason to strategize. All this combined left little in the way of meaningful screentime for the guy.
  • Jack of All Stats: Matt is fairly competent in every challenge (except the one he throws on purpose), and is all around skilled with every type of gameplay he's given.
  • Living Prop: Played for Laughs; in Episode 4, he openly states he feels as if he's just "existed" in the game without much influence.
  • Late to the Realization: Realizes Barbara betrayed him and was working with Alfredo...After he's already been eliminated.
  • Mr Fix It: The most technically skilled builder of the cast. Lindsay hypothesizes early on that he'd have a castle built by the end of the season.
  • Odd Friendship: Forms one with Jon once they realize they're on the bottom of the power dynamic, working together against Alfredo and Joe. Between the two, Matt is more openly the logical one, trying not to overthink things while rationalizing their next course of action.
  • Out of Focus: In Episode 2.
  • The Team Benefactor: While the whole team manages to pull its weight well enough, Matt quickly shows himself to be the most useful member of the Red Team, maintaining and adding onto their base constantly and keeping the crops going. This unfortunately leads to him prioritizing camp life over meaningful strategy.
  • Tempting Fate: Brought up leaving supplies for the team just in case anything happens to him...Right before he's eliminated.
  • Throwing the Fight: Throws the challenge in Episode 4 in coordination with Barbara, that way they could vote out Patrick and get Charlotte back on their team.
  • Voted Off the Island: Eliminated in Episode 5, ending the game in 8th place overall.
    • Last Words: "Fredo, I know what you've done...Anyway-"
    • Elimination Statement: "I think for the remaining people left, Alfredo was the choice. He absolutely manipulated Barbara to get rid of me, and I don't think he's concerned about Charlotte at all. So, I think Alfredo needed to get gone at this critical juncture, cause now he's gonna have too much ability in these final couple of competitions. I don't know how you sleep at night, in the roof I made for you, I don't get that, but you know, sleep easy, and enjoy the island."

Original Members: BK, Chris, Gustavo, Jacob, Lindsay, Patrick
Team Swap Members (Yellow Team): BK, Gustavo, Joe, Jon

  • Blue Is Heroic: Downplayed, but the Blue Team and their struggles are played far more sympathetically compared to the confident Red Team. Additionally, the team lacks any strong antagonistic players, in comparison to Red Team's Alfredo.
  • "Everybody Dies" Ending: In the end, every original Blue is eliminated before the final five, only managing to outlast a single member of Red Team before they're all out.
  • Failure Team: Never won a single pre-swap challenge, leaving to over half of them getting knocked out of the game immediately. They only started to pick up steam after the swap.
  • The Load: Arguably an entire team of them, as everyone quickly shows themselves to be terrible at challenges. Chris and Lindsay prove themselves the biggest hurdles to the team's victory, however.
  • Memorial Statue: After Chris is eliminated, the team dedicates the Infinity Pool to him as a means of remembering his elimination. A small Pet the Dog moment that showed, in spite of their frustrations with him, they still cared about him enough to honor his memory.
  • Underdogs Never Lose: Subverted; they're a majority of the pre-merge eliminations, and none of the original team make it to the final five.
  • We ARE Struggling Together: Blue Team repeatedly proves themselves terrible at challenges and horribly incompetent at working together.

  • Anti-Hero: More than willing to do whatever it takes to win, openly betraying her alliances for her own good in the game if it guarantees her another round. With that said, she's also undeniably the Blue Team's best player and does put forward the effort to be friendly in spite of cutthroat nature.
  • Chronic Backstabbing Disorder: An unfortunate habit of hers. In Episode 2, after Gus beats the attempted blindside, BK votes out Chris, her new ally. And in Episode 3, after forming a new alliance with Gus, she chooses to vote out Lindsay, who she had an alliance with since day one. Downplayed in that it's not like she had many options in either case, but its certainly an alarming pattern.
  • Crouching Moron, Hidden Badass: The least experienced with Minecraft of the Blue Team, yet miraculously its best overall performing player in challenges. This is most noticeable in Episode 2, where she wins a round of spleef while the rest of her team loses their respective rounds.
  • Epic Fail: Is eliminated from the game with an Immunity Totem in her pocket.
  • Fatal Flaw: Her belief that she had more power and influence in the game then she really did, telling people her plans who ultimately weren't as aligned with her as she thought. This lead to be her being blindsided the first time by Patrick's vote against her in Episode 3, and was subsequently blindsided again in Episode 6 by Barbara, this time resulting in her elimination.
  • Genius Bruiser: A fairly competent strategist and also one of the team's best physical players in challenges. Come the merge, this ultimately signals out as too much of a threat, getting voted out by the Red Team majority over Gus.
  • Odd Friendship: Develops this over time with Gus, as the last remaining Blue Team members.
  • Out of Focus: In Episode 5.
  • Pragmatic Hero: Gus surviving her attempt to blindside him leads BK to deciding she'd rather work with him than against him.
  • The Protagonist: Of the Blue Team; she's the leading strategic and social force of the team, inter-spliced with most of its concurrent stories.
    • Decoy Protagonist: Unfortunately, she's ultimately the first player eliminated during the merge.
  • Rewarded as a Traitor Deserves: Betrayed two of her allies in the pre-merge, and is ultimately betrayed and eliminated herself by Barbara.
  • Rookie Red Ranger: Compared to the rest of Blue Team, BK is far less experienced with Minecraft and its mechanics. She also quickly takes a leading role as central focus of the team.
  • The Starscream: Attempts to take control of the Blue Team from Gus, only for him to turn things around and ruin her plans, forcing her to betray one of her allies.
  • Those Two Guys: Forms a close friendship early on with Lindsay. However, while initially loyal, BK slowly lost interest in their partnership as Lindsay showed themselves to perform poorly at the game, eventually choosing to vote them out in exchange for an alliance with the more competent Gus.
  • Voted Off the Island: Eliminated in Episode 6, ending the game in 7th place overall.
    • Last Words: "I regret everything. It's okay, it's alright..."
    • Elimination Statement: "I am devastated- I feel like an idiot, actually. I gotta blame Gus for my demise at this point, and I should have listened to Barbara. Barbara was like, "do you trust Gus?" and I was like, "yeah"; Gus gave me the totem and it's right, if I had played it, it would have been a revote between, what...Joe and Charlotte? I should have seen this coming. I really thought Charlotte was gonna be the second person they'd have voted for. We were supposed to have four votes Fredo, and there were only three...So, I know I've been betrayed by the person I thought I was gonna take to the end. The game never stops playing y'all, you better watch out."
  • Worthy Opponent: Acknowledges Gus as one after his Totem play in Episode 2 manages to save him from their attempt to vote him out.
  • Wrong Assumption: After she's eliminated, she wrongfully assumes Gus betrayed her, and not Barbara.

Episode Eliminated: Episode 2: The Meat Shield
Placement: 11th place

  • Bare-Bottomed Monkey: His Minecraft skin.
  • Butt-Monkey: Rather appropriate given his skin; Chris never catches anything resembling a break during the game from his team and even those outside of it, regularly being made the butt of the joke and generally getting picked on. This culminates in his elimination in Episode 2 after a blindside goes wrong.
  • Comically Oversized Butt: According to Jacob, at least.
  • Epic Fail: What he becomes known for.
    • In Episode 1, when the Blue Team is trying to get a fire going, Chris accidentally puts it out, costing the team valuable time and resources. He goes on to do this a few more times.
    • In Episode 2, he's against Jon in a spleef match where the goal is to knock the other in the water. He proceeds to go full aggressive- and ends up jumping right in a hole Jon made mere seconds into the match, eliminating himself in record speed from the challenge.
    • His attempt to blindside Gus out of the game is thrown up in flames when he uses an Immunity Totem. This leaves Chris in a tiebreaker against his ally, where he is subsequently betrayed and eliminated.
  • Fatal Flaw: His terrible challenge performances put him in the limelight early on, and is complete inability to stand up for himself or point fingers left him with few options and nobody he was close with.
  • The Friend Nobody Likes: Quickly falls into this after the first challenge, receiving little in the way of respect or attention from his teammates.
  • Hard Work Hardly Works: Chris' strategy going in largely revolves around the idea of proving himself useful to the team by working hard around camp. Unfortunately, his attempted goodwill falls on deaf ears when he proves himself to be nothing but a hindrance in challenges, leaving him at the bottom of the team's social hierarchy, and becoming the second person voted out.
  • I'm a Humanitarian: Played for Laughs; upon first landing at the Blue Team camp, Chris immediately suggests eating Gus.
  • The Load: Absolutely abysmal in challenges, borderline to a point of exaggeration.
  • Mistreatment-Induced Betrayal: Attempts to get Gus eliminated in Episode 2 due to what Chris has perceived as Gus gunning for him. It doesn't work.
  • Not Helping Your Case: After being pin-pointed as one of the main reasons the team lost the challenge in Episode 1, Chris attempts to defend himself...After the team had dropped it, only reminding them of the problem and making him seem more incompetent.
    • Similarly, his attempts to defend his loss in Episode 2 only earn him a snarky comment from Gus.
  • Sitcom Arch-Nemesis: With Gus, due to him actively bringing up Chris' failure to keep up with the team.
  • Voted Off the Island: Eliminated in Episode 2, ending the game in 11th place overall.
    • Last Words: "Before I go, enjoy this ass one last time."
    • Elimination Statement: "It's a jungle out here. And y'know, you'd think I would be equipped more than anyone to live in a jungle cause I'm a monkey, but I'm not. I didn't want Lindsay to have to go home. I promised to be a meat shield, and here I am."

Placement: 6th place

  • Asshole Victim: With how mean-spirited his last few moments on the island were, the Red Alliance can't help but take the piss out of and laugh at his ego, especially considering he was his own biggest reason he got eliminated and not Charlotte.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: "Nice" might be a bit of an exaggeration, but he's easily the most openly well intentioned member of the Blue Team, and manages to save himself from elimination with an Immunity Totem during Episode 2 when his team attempts to blindside him.
  • Brutal Honesty: If he feels strongly about you, expect him to point as much out.
  • Deadpan Snarker: The most vocally sarcastic member of the original Blue Team.
  • Death by Irony: Tells the Red Team they're not playing the game very well in the Episode 7 Chopping Block. He then proceeds to arguably make the dumbest mistake of the season and gets himself eliminated from the game.
  • Epic Fail: Arguably the single most infamous, terrible mistake across the entire season, if not series. Like his ally, BK, he's ultimately eliminated despite having found an Immunity Totem that same episode. Except, where she didn't use her because she thought she had secured the votes, Gus knew going into the episode he was on the bottom, but after a few conversations with Barbara, became convinced the Red Team were unorganized and not going after him. And so in an attempt to gain an ally in Charlotte, he gives her his totem to save her, unaware that the rest of the cast had split their votes between them, effectively meaning he saved his competition and voted himself off.
  • Fatal Flaw: After an entire game of trying to play the game logically, his decision to play with his heart in Episode 7 lead to him growing too arrogant about his place in the game, and he suffers for it.
  • Good Is Not Nice: An all around fairly reasonable guy who is doing what he feels is best for the team, but will openly call you out if he feels you're not pulling your weight and has a tendency to take potshots at others when he has room to do so.
  • Idiot Ball: The sheer number of terrible decisions he made during Episode 7 is unbelievable.
  • Jerkass Has a Point:
    • Calls Chris out for repeated mistakes in challenges at camp multiple times. While he does so fairly aggressively, it's hard to argue he doesn't have a point.
    • Points out early on that BK and Lindsay seem to be buddying up a lot and having private conversations in Episode 1. They're proven to have a close-knit alliance by the next episode.
    • During Episode 2, at the Chopping Block, he calls out that Lindsay, for all her supposed skill, failed to lead the team to victory in Episode 1. He goes on to call her out on this again in Episode 3.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Arguably one of the more openly rude contestants of the season, yet plays a fairly honorable game and tries to keep his team in check as best he can.
  • Keeping the Enemy Close:
    • In spite of their conflict, Gus never once votes for Chris, instead voting for those he perceives as greater weak links.
    • Decides to form an alliance with BK in spite of her attempts to get Gus eliminated, largely to keep her off his back and to hopefully splinter her alliance with Lindsay.
  • Kick the Dog: When questioned at the Episode 7 Chopping Block, he uses it as a chance to insult and condescend to the Red Team about how terribly they're playing the game. Naturally, they don't exactly take it well.
  • The Leader: Gus finds himself falling into this role more or less by default on the Blue Team, delegating tasks to get work done around camp and trying to serve as a voice of reason to the rest of the team as the game begins to get to them.
    • Reluctant Ruler: However, this is something he's less than enthused about, as he feels that just puts a target on his bat. He's proven right in his skepticism, and just barely manages to save himself with a Totem play.
  • Odd Friendship: Develops this over time with BK, as the last remaining Blue Team members.
  • Only Sane Man: Tries his best to play a more rational game in comparison to his teammates when it comes to voting players out and forming alliances. This includes choosing to forgive his team after their attempted blindside, since he knows it'd just cause conflict, something sorely unneeded with their losing streak.
  • Out of Focus: In Episode 5.
  • Pet the Dog: Takes time during the first Chopping Block to praise Patrick for his hard work during the challenge.
  • Rage Breaking Point: Hits his after BK's elimination and his realization he's on the bottom. From that point onward, he decides to go all out on letting hell loose and lying to everyone about everything.
  • Sitcom Arch-Nemesis: With Chris, with Gus perceiving his poor performances as bad for the team.
  • Sore Loser: Arguably the single most spiteful, angry exit of the entire game.
  • Straight Man: As the Blue Team experiences more and more eliminations and things around camp become tense, he's finds himself thrust into trying to keep the peace and stop the team from tearing each other apart.
  • Suicidal Overconfidence: Goes into the Episode 7 Chopping Block feeling totally safe, believing the Red Team to be at each other's throats and that none of them know how to play the game. This leads to him not playing his Immunity Totem on himself, and getting eliminated for it.
  • Too Clever by Half: Spent the entire season following a consistent, logical thought process in votes. Unfortunately, by Episode 7, this leads to the thought process he's smarter than the others and is confident they're eating each other alive and not focused on him at all, to a point where instead of using his Immunity Totem, he gives it to Charlotte in an attempt to gain her trust...Unaware the rest of Red Team had split their votes between them, which gets him eliminated.
  • Took a Level in Jerkass: Becomes outright nasty over the course of Episode 7.
  • Turn the Other Cheek: Decides not to take the team's attempted blindside against him too personally, as he'd rather prioritize winning the next challenge instead of having more unnecessary drama.
  • Voted Off the Island: Eliminated in Episode 7, ending the game in 6th place overall.
    • Last Words: "Sic semper tyrannis!" note
    • Elimination Statement: "I gotta say- I'm shocked! I thought these losers who were left in the game had no gull, no gumption; I think they had no idea how to play the game! I blame my big fat mouth. I was getting so frustrated watching this team not play the game! These idiots were playing Minecraft. We're not here to play Minecraft, this is Survive Block Island!"

  • Born Unlucky: Eliminated not because he received any votes for elimination, but because he drew the wrong stone during the drawing.
  • Fatal Flaw: His atrociously bad luck. Nothing goes well for Jacob; he's poisoned minutes into the game by a teammate, his team goes on to lose the first challenge, Chris attempts to pin him as a scapegoat for losing, and he's eliminated not due to receiving any votes, but because he pulled the wrong rock.
  • The Food Poisoning Incident: Drinks unboiled water given to him by Lindsay and finds himself incredibly sick. Shenanigans ensue.
  • Graceful Loser: All things considered, he takes his elimination fairly well in spite of the circumstances surrounding it, wishing his team well on his way out.
  • Harmless Villain: What he ultimately turns out to be. In spite of being set-up as a potential antagonist for the Blue Team, what with his Hidden Disdain Reveal and I'm Not Here to Make Friends mindset, he's eliminated by pure bad luck in the first episode and has no discernible impact on the season.
  • Hidden Disdain Reveal: His Establishing Character Moment; after playing around with his team for a bit, he admits fully in his confessional to being suspicious of his team and about how he'd openly screw them over if given the chance.
  • I Coulda Been a Contender!: Whatever screentime he got in Episode 1 quickly establishes him as playing to win, and as a possible antagonist for the Blue Team. He's eliminated that same episode with little in the way of fanfare.
  • I'm Not Here to Make Friends: Openly distrusts his team, saying he's more than fine taking any of them down if he has to.
  • Joke Character: For all his bluster and want to play a strategic game, a majority of Jacob's screentime is actually Played for Laughs. This was a good sign he ultimately wouldn't be as much of a force in the game as he planned, becoming the first person eliminated.
  • The Scapegoat: Chris attempts to turn him into one during the first Chopping Block, only for it to not work, as Jacob receives no votes. However, because of the rock draw, he gets eliminated anyway!
  • Voted Off the Island: Eliminated in Episode 1, ending the game in 12th place overall.
    • Last Words: "I did my darnedest, team. I did this for you guys. This is what I have rot! This is the end!"
    • Elimination Statement: "I think this beautiful, treacherous island is going to separate the weak from the chaff, and create some real winners, and I'm sad I can't be among them. • The Alleged Expert: Identified early on as the most experienced member of their team with Minecraft, and is hyped up as its strongest player. However, with time this status is called into question more and more; they accidentally poison Jacob, fails to help or properly lead their team in any of the challenges, including outright abandoning them at one point to try find something to help them only for that to not work, and is never once in the majority during elimination. By the end of Episode 3, its been determined that they're no longer worth keeping around.
  • Attention Deficit... Ooh, Shiny!: Swam off in the middle of the first challenge to go tinker with a command block in an attempt to aid their team, only for it to not do anything and just cause them team to have lost precious time.
  • The Big Guy: Deconstructed; they're openly acknowledged early on as the most experienced Minecraft player of the team and takes the lead at first during challenges. However, repeated poor performance led to them quickly losing appeal, and eventually is voted out for it.
  • Birds of a Feather: Downplayed, but Lindsay and Patrick repeatedly refer to each other as the best players on the team, praising each other in confessionals. Despite this, they're never actually seen interacting much in person.
  • Captain Oblivious: Goes into Episode 3 thinking the Blue Team is stronger than ever, including their alliance with BK. Even as they're given signs throughout the episode that this clearly isn't the case, they only double down and hopes things are going as planned. They're betrayed and subsequently eliminated that same episode.
  • Fatal Flaw: Their inability to back up their skill with the game in the challenges consistently slowly causes them to lose the goodwill of their team, including their own alliance.
  • Humiliation Conga: Lindsay's time in the game is poor to say the least. They repeatedly fail in every challenge and proves themselves incompetent to the team's needs, gets called out and targeted by Gus, gets votes at every Chopping Block, loses their only ally in the game in BK, and eventually is eliminated in Episode 3.
  • The Lancer: To BK, serving as her right hand and more emotional contrast.
  • Leader Wannabe: Their attempts to lead their team during challenges fall completely flat, a fact that doesn't go unnoticed by Gus and later BK.
  • The Millstone: Frequently, their attempts to help their team only cause more problems than had they done literally nothing at all, from getting distracted in Episode 1 to giving poor advice to deal with fires in Episode 3.
  • Those Two Guys: Forms one early on with BK, creating a close alliance. Lindsay is completely loyal to their partnership, believing they're in a good place. However, BK went on to vote them out once Lindsay proved unable to back up her skills.
  • Undying Loyalty: To BK. Even after they begin to suspect that their alliance is falling apart, they decide to stay loyal. This is what causes their elimination.
  • Voted Off the Island: Eliminated in Episode 3, ending the game in 10th place overall.
    • Last Words: "Goodbye, everyone. Again, it was an honor. I'll find out who voted for me, though...Mark my words! Uh...Jabroni!"
    • Elimination Statement: "I don't think gameplay itself is the important factor here. I think it's going to be being super cutthroat and just going for the jugular; and the person who is going for the jugular is BK."
  • The World's Expert (on Getting Killed): The most experienced member of the team with Minecraft. Eliminated in Episode 3, right before the first team swap.
  • You Have Outlived Your Usefulness: The crux of their elimination; for all their experience, they proved themselves incapable of pulling their weight during challenges, leading their ally to betray them.

  • Alas, Poor Villain: Less a "villain" and more generally unpleasant, and he arguably deserved his elimination, but its easy to feel bad for the guy when one takes into account the circumstances surrounding it and his slow walk off the island.
  • The Aloner: Throughout the early episodes, Patrick is shown to take a much more relaxed position in the game. Namely, he never leaves camp, never has one on one conversations with the others, and never forms an alliance.
  • Arch-Enemy: Became one to BK following his betrayal of her in Episode 3. Throughout Episode 4, BK constantly calls back to this and takes jabs at him for his decision.
  • Birds of a Feather: Downplayed, but Lindsay and Patrick repeatedly refer to each other as the best players on the team, praising each other in confessionals. This leads to Patrick being the only member of the Blue Team not to vote for her in Episode 3, instead voting for BK and burning a bridge with the rest of Blue Team.
  • Blatant Lies: When confronted about voting BK, he chooses to play dumb, saying he voted for Gus or maybe Lindsay. It convinces neither of them.
  • Fatal Flaw: His lack of strong connections cost him dearly throughout the game. He was the odd man out on Blue Team by the end of Episode 3, and got swapped into a team of only Red Team members in Episode 4, predictably leaving him no options.
  • Idiot Ball: Dear lord, his choice to vote for BK in Episode 3 was so poorly conceived and such a mistake, it's hard to even put it into words.
  • Informed Attribute: Lindsay points to him as the team's secret weapon and their best player. If that's at all true, it never comes across in the show proper.
  • Jerkass: Calls the eliminated players losers, betrays BK's trust and tries to play dumb, and is incredibly bitter toward Barbara after she votes him out.
  • Kick the Dog: Insults Jacob and Chris as losers for getting eliminated in Episode 3.
  • Locked Out of the Loop: By Episode 3, Patrick is completely oblivious to the team dynamic, still believing that Lindsay is their ace in the hole (despite her continuously being the primary reasons they've lost the challenges thus far) and that BK isn't pulling her weight (despite being the only member of the team to have any victories under her belt).
  • No Social Skills: Patrick seems entirely apathetic to the social and strategic side of the game. Outside of challenges he only ever works around camp and never bothers trying to develop connections with his teammates.
    • This proves to come back to bite him after the team's third loss, since that lack of meaningful connections causes him to go into Episode 3's vote with nothing in terms of actual information on where the vote will go. This leads to him voting for BK and fracturing their trust in each other, causing him to burn the bridge with the rest of the Blue Team.
  • No Sympathy: Completely apathetic to both those the Blue Team had eliminated across their losing streak, and to BK after voting for her and betraying her trust. In fact, he actually pins BK as the real problem for holding that against him and saying she should just trust him.
  • Out of Focus: In Episode 1 and 2.
  • Platonic Life-Partners: With Patrick, in spite of being on different teams.
  • The Quiet One: Largely fades into the team dynamic without much in the way of his own voice. While he occasionally interjects to say something, its rarely anything that anyone else couldn't have said themselves.
  • Sore Loser: Doesn't handle his elimination very well, calling out Barbara on his way out.
  • Voted Off the Island: Eliminated in Episode 4, ending the game in 9th place overall.
    • Last Words: "I trusted you, Barbara. You snake."
    • Elimination Statement: "I hoped that things wouldn't go this way. But Barbara did reveal herself to be a traitorous- bit of a Judas. To everyone left on the island, I would say...Fuck you, Barbara!"

  • Honor Before Reason: Doesn't want to backstab anyone or betray the interest of those around him...In a game where only one person can win with a heavy strategic element. Lampshaded when he explains himself he doesn't think this game is designed around his particularly skillset.
  • Nice Guy: Arguably the nicest guy across both seasons. Jack doesn't have a single mean bone in his body.

Ice Team

    In General
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/screenshot_2024_03_12_092345.png
Original Members: Blessing, Fooya, John, Lindsey, Meg, Michael

  • Failure Team: Arguably even worse than the Blue Team in this respect! Across the entire group, the only ones with any Minecraft experience to speak of were Lindsey and Michael, and the latter self-admits to not even considering himself that good! Compare that against the Fire Team, who only have a single player who doesn't play the game, and their downfall was guaranteed out the gate. Expectedly, they don't win a single challenge across the entire pre-merge, including post-team swap.

  • Fangirl: Of Meg. She admits up front that she'll never betray her and won't vote her out.
  • No Healthcare in the Apocalypse: Told her Canadian healthcare will not apply if she gets injured on the show.
  • Reality Show Genre Blindness: Has never seen Survivor or the first season of Survive Block Island, meaning she went into the show completely blind. Predictably, this causes her some issues.
  • Right for the Wrong Reasons: Ultimately made a smart decision in allying herself with Meg and Michael, as they quickly prove themselves the strategic backbone of the Ice Team. But she only actually did so due to how much she admires Meg.

  • Official Couple: With Gavin. They had been together for 9-years by the time of recording.
    • Love Is a Weakness: With that said, she also knows couples tend to get targeted in these sorts of shows, which is why she's glad they got separated onto different teams.

Episode Eliminated: Episode 8: You Say it’s Your Birthday
Placement: 5th place

  • 0% Approval Rating: Nobody wanted Michael to win. It's saying something that after Episode 2, he receives a vote at every Chopping Block he attends.
  • Big Bad Duumvirate: With Blizz, as the main antagonists of season 2.
    • Big Bad: Though there's no real debate that between the two, Michael's much more malicious with his gameplay. He blatantly and openly antagonizes those around him, team and alliance alike, uses intimidation and unpredictability to keep people guessing, and happily galavants across the chaos he spurs for no other reason than for a good laugh.
  • Born Unlucky: Never managed to win a single challenge across both stages of the game. He has the dubious honor of attending the most Chopping Blocks of any player across both seasons with 8 total ceremonies attended, 9 if you count him attending the jury.
  • Breakout Villain: If you come out of season 2 knowing anyone, it's gonna be Michael. Simply compare the sheer number of tropes he has compared to the rest of the cast if you're not convinced.
  • Contrasting Sequel Antagonist: Whereas Alfredo was a strategic manipulator and challenge beast who more or less controlled the game from beginning to end with the help of a strong majority alliance, Michael is a chaotic wildcard who had little to no power in the game, was frankly terrible in challenges, and completely lacked in loyal allies, but managed to hang around by the skin of his teeth through sheer willpower and focusing in on bigger threats.
  • Deadpan Snarker: The single most actively sarcastic, wisecracking player across both seasons. Nearly all of his confessionals contain at last a little bit of snark at someone's expense.
  • Early-Bird Cameo: First debuted in the season 1 finale alongside Gavin as a teaser for the next season.
  • Heterosexual Life-Partners: With Gavin, to the surprise of nobody familiar with Achievement Hunter.
  • It Amused Me: Decides to ally with Fooya because he "delights in her ignorance".
  • This Is Gonna Suck: Not long after getting put into their teams, Michael comes to the realization he's one of the only people on it that knows how to play Minecraft...And he's of the opinion he doesn't know what he's doing. So...High expectations out the gate.
  • Wrong Genre Savvy: When initially told about the Immunity Totems hidden around the island, Michael's immediate instinct was to check under the podium Trevor was speaking from. It doesn't work, but was worth a shot.
