Somareia

    open/close all folders

    General
  • Beware the Nice Ones: Not only are the Somareia dedicated protectors of the Dream world, they also help people who suffer from dream and sleep-related ailments like nightmares and insomnia. That being said, it isn't a very good idea to piss them off, as sleep is very important. They also, like their adoptive/biological father, hate people who permanently twist others' dream worlds for malicious ends, as such actions violate Primeval Law.
  • Divine Parentage: As indicated by their name, the Somareia are the adoptive and biological children of Somarenus, the Sleep Primeval. Despite his lack of a physical form, Somarenus did manage to sire children of his own with both deities and mortals, with a little help from his brother, Amareros, the Love Primeval.
  • Dream Walker: Many Somareia members, befitting their parentage, have the ability to traverse between the Dream world and the waking world, and enter people's dreams.
  • Dream Weaver: Many Somareia members, befitting their parentage, have the ability to create and control dreams.
  • God Is Good: Many Somareia members are benevolent gods and goddesses who work hard to protect the Dream world from both internal and external threats, as well as comfort those who suffer from dream- and/or sleep-related ailments.
  • Happily Adopted: While the Somareia does contain Somarenus' biological children, the group also includes those that Somarenus adopted into his family, such as Pillow Talk/Dulce and Tranquil Dream.

Queen Dulce Somnii Paradise, the Protector of Dreams

Classification: Ascendant/Ethereal

Portfolio: Dreams, Sleep, Protection

Rank: Divine (Tier IV/Greater)

Affiliation: Somareia (main), Paradise (dream world)

"In the Dreaming, all creatures fall under my protection."

Queen Dulce Somnii Paradise, born Pillow Talk (her entry here), is the Alicorn goddess of Dreams, Sleep, and Protection, and is a benevolent member of the Somareia.
  • Abstract Apotheosis: She Ascended to godhood after training under Somarenus and his children, and realizing others might suffer more than she did and thus need her protection.
  • Adaptational Angst Upgrade: Unlike Pillow Talk from G1 canon, She was not only bullied as a filly for having an "ugly" Cutie Mark (then called "Rump Design" in her time), but she was also captured, tortured, and implied to have been raped by the Hydianites in her adulthood. Losing everything repeatedly with the end of each Age took an increasing toll on her mind until after the end of the Third Age, when she isolated herself in her own dream realm and turned it into a copy of the Third Age's civilizations out of denial. She also has a tendency to binge-eat on junk food due to her trauma.
  • Adaptational Backstory Change: Unlike her G1 counterpart, Pillow Talk of the Codexverse was born a Paradise Pony to a pair of clerics who worshiped Somarenus, the Sleep Primeval, but was a very sleepy filly in her youth. She rose to fame when she protected several foals from a Dream Demon that she killed, catching the attention of the Somareia. While she made use of her dream magic and became a heroine, she was later caught and subjected to Cold-Blooded Torture by the Hydianites looking to spread suffering in the Dream world. Fortunately, she recovered thanks to the Somareia and her loved ones, and she eventually Ascended to godhood. However, she became increasingly traumatized by the loss of succeeding Ages, culminating in her isolating herself within her own Dream realm out of denial after the Oceanaiads helped end the Third Age out of spite. She eventually overcame her grief after realizing she was hurting the people who depended on her, and resumed her duties. She also married her fillyhood friend, Quarterback, who supported her for tens of thousands of years.
  • Adaptational Badass: Pillow Talk, outside of her "Slumber Party Gift Pack" toy set in G1, wasn't featured in any My Little Pony-related media at all. Here, she's an Alicorn goddess of Dreams, Sleep, and Protection, a member of the Somareia, and an important figure from First-Age history.
  • Adaptational Skill: She's essentially a dream therapist who helps people with their dreams by interpreting them in order to identify the issues that's causing them, and has knowledge on various psychological disorders (and how to treat them). Canon Pillow Talk had none of these skills.
  • Adaptation Name Change: She's named Pillow Talk in canon. Here, she's named Queen Dulce Somnii Paradise, which is the Alicorn name she got after building her own Dream realm, Paradise, and becoming its ruler.
  • Adaptation Species Change: She's an Earth Pony in G1 canon. Here, she's an Alicorn, having Ascended to godhood well into the First Age.
  • Ain't Too Proud to Beg: During her time as the Hydianites' prisoner, she was subjected to olfactory torture by Smellba. Given how horrible olfactory torture is, she begged Smellba for mercy many times, which delighted the Skunk witch as she wanted to spite her for helping her previous victims.
  • All of the Other Reindeer: Downplayed. In her mortal foalhood, she was known as a very sleepy foal who frequently talked in her sleep due to her vivid dreams. This frightened the other foals, but the adult Ponies were more understanding on account of her parents, who worked as Clerics of Somarenus, the Sleep Primeval and thus helped Ponies with their dreams. She was also bullied for having an "ugly" Cutie Mark (then called "Rump Design") that was created by her "Twice as Fancy" mutation, but fortunately, Quarterback protected her.
  • Animalistic Abomination: Following the "Abyssal Wars", she became an eldritch Alicorn with traits like a mane and tail whose hair colors blended to resemble a night sky, a mutated Cutie Mark with the cloud part becoming cloud-like spots on her body, a body that constantly shifts and distorts itself to reflect the dreams of others, and wings with feathers made of Dream energy. Her mane and tail show images of various dreams, but they're presently foggy and less clear. Her eyes constantly glow and show people their innermost dreams and desires when looked into.
  • Anthropomorphic Personification: She's an Alicorn goddess who embodies Dreams, Sleep, and Protection.
  • Astonishingly Appropriate Appearance: Her Cutie Mark (or "Rump Design", as it was called in the First Age) is a white cloud filled with yellow moons and stars and blue pillows. It refers to her powerful Dream magic and her desire to help ensure a good night's sleep for everyone. Following her Eldritch Transformation, her Cutie Mark mutated further with the cloud part becoming cloud-like spots on her body.
  • Badass Teacher: Much like how she was mentored by Somarenus and his children, she herself would take in many students over the Ages, which included Tranquil Dream and Dr. Endless Dreams following her Ascension via assimilating Ymzelt'xix, an Abyssal One, through Heroic Willpower. She's also a benevolent Alicorn goddess from the First Age who has incredible powerful over dreams and sleep; given how important sleep is to one's physical, emotional, and mental health, this makes her very dangerous. She got even stronger when she underwent an Eldritch Transformation during the Third Age's "Abyssal Wars", giving her power to affect eldritch deities.
  • Barrier Warrior: As a goddess of Dreams, she can manifest dream energy as barriers. Her domain of Protection also gives her this power, with it being naturally stronger when she's in the Dream world.
  • Beam Spam: As a goddess of Dreams, she can manifest dream energy in the form of energy beams.
  • Because You Were Nice to Me: She became attracted to Quarterback, one of her foalhood friends, and ended up dating him because he not only defended her from bullies in their mortal youth, but also served as a source of emotional support whenever she dealt with major trauma. This culminated in her marrying Quarterback and becoming co-rulers of her Dream realm, Paradise, in the Fourth Age.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: She is a friendly, gentle-voiced mare who serves as a dream therapist so she can help people get a good night's sleep. She is also The High Queen of her Dream realm, Paradise, and a loving wife and mother to her husband and children, respectively. However, as a Paradise Pony, she won't hesitate to kil her foes if it'll protect her loved ones, and she is genuinely enraged by people who destroy and/or permanently twist one's dreams for wicked ends, a sentiment many Somareia share. She also hates bullies and wicked witch/warlock covens for what they did to her and others, making her a feared Arch-Enemy of the Hydianites. People who abuse magic to control or brainwash others, or harm children in general, also enrage her. This increased following her Eldritch Transformation during the "Abyssal Wars" at the end of the Third Age.
  • Blue-and-Orange Morality: She developed a somewhat alien mindset from her duties in the Dream World as well as her interactions with older members of the Somareia, and this increased following her Eldritch Transformation during the Third Age's "Abyssal Wars". This can be a flaw of hers when interacting with mortals and even younger gods.
  • Blue Is Calm: She has light blue eyes, parts of her mane and tail are colored blue, and post-Ascension, she gained a magical wing gradient that's also partially colored blue. She's a friendly, mellow, and gentle-voiced Alicorn goddess who embodies Dreams, Sleep, and Protection, and thus works as a dream therapist so she could help people get a good night's sleep.
  • Blue Is Heroic: She has light blue eyes and part of her mane and tail was colored blue. She's a benevolent Dream goddess and adoptive member of the Somareia who is dedicated to helping people overcome their issues and protecting them in their dreams.
  • Break the Cutie: She was an idealistic mare who was inspired by her friend, Quarterback, to help protect people in both the dream and waking worlds after he protected her from bullies as a filly. However, the horrific Cold-Blooded Torture she endured as a prisoner of the Hydianites left her psychologically broken by the time her friends rescued her. While she does eventually recover, she gets broken again when the Oceanaiads help destroy the empathetic Third Age with a suicidal final gambit out of sheer spite. Falling into denial, she isolates herself in her effort to try keep the Third Age alive in her own dream realm, especially once the Fourth Age showed her things would never be as good as they were during the Third Age. Fortunately, various friends, family members, and even Death deities would help her overcome her trauma and grief, though it's noted she still has lingering trauma from her many experiences.
  • Cannot Dream: Invoked; as a goddess of Dreams, she can render people unable to dream indefinitely if she chose to.
  • Canon Character All Along: Justified. She's Pillow Talk from G1, but has since Ascended to godhood and changed her name to reflect this, especially after becoming Queen of her own kingdom in the Dream world.
  • Childhood Friend Romance: She met Quarterback as a filly when the latter protected her from foals who were bullying her for having an "ugly" Cutie Mark, and they've been best friends ever since. Four Ages later, she ended up falling in love with Quarterback and later married him.
  • Cold-Blooded Torture: After she was captured and made a prisoner of the Hydianites, they performed "unspeakable torments" on her, including trying to permanently twist her mind and soul to their way of thinking to serve as their weapon in the dream world, and subjecting her to olfactory torture at the paws of Smellba who wanted to spite her for helping her victims. While the Hydianites never succeed in completely breaking her as many of them were punished for breaking Primeval Laws regarding dreams, she was still left a traumatized wreck by the time she was rescued, and her experiences left her with an undying hatred of wicked witch/warlock covens.
  • Cool Teacher: Much like how she was mentored by Somarenus and his children, she herself would take in many students over the Ages, which included Tranquil Dream and Dr. Endless Dreams following her Ascension via assimilating Ymzelt'xix, an Abyssal One, through Heroic Willpower. She is also a friendly and gentle-voiced mare who serves as a dream therapist so she can help people get a good night's sleep, calming their anxieties and helping them overcome the underlying issues affecting their dreams (or nightmares).
  • Dark and Troubled Past: In her fillyhood, she was bullied by other foals for having an "ugly" Cutie Mark/Rump Design, which was due to her being a "Twice as Fancy" Pony. While she overcame it thanks to Quarterback and became a heroine, she was later captured by Hydianite covens, who not only subjected her to horrific Cold-Blooded Torture, but also tried weaponizing her by permanently twisting her mind and soul to Hydianism so she could spread suffering throughout the dream planes. The experience left her extremely traumatized by the time she was rescued, and she would suffer from lingering PTSD over the Ages. The cataclysmic end of the Third Age and the Oceanaiads' spiteful actions hit her hard, but it was the Fourth Age developing Fantastic Racism right after that served as the last straw, with her becoming a recluse who isolated herself and turned her own dream realm into a copy of the Third Age's civilizations out of grief and denial. Thankfully, she has been receiving support and therapy in order to recover from her past.
  • Deity of Human Origin: She was originally a mortal Earth Pony who later Ascended to godhood and became an Alicorn after training under Somarenus and his children, and realizing others might suffer worse than her and need her protection. The "Abyssal Wars" would see her transform into an eldritch goddess as a result of directly clashing with the Abyssal Ones.
  • Demonic Possession: She nearly became a victim of this during the Third Age's "Abyssal Wars" — while she was weakened, a gravely wounded Abyssal One, Cthadr'mag, tried possessing her so it could continue its rampage across the Dream world. Fortunately, her student, Tranquil Dream, saved her by willingly letting Cthadr'mag possess him instead, then overpowered and assimilated the Abyssal One via sheer force of will, Ascending to eldritch godhood in the process.
  • Did You Just Punch Out Cthulhu?:
    • In her mortal youth, she got into a fight with a Dream Demon who was tormenting the foals of Paradise Estate through their dreams and feeding off their fear. Despite her opponent being empowered by the foals' fear, she managed to fight back and kill it by taking inspiration from Quarterback, who previously defended her from bullies.
    • In the Third Age, she participated in the "Abyssal Wars", protecting the Third Age's various civilizations from the invading Oceanaiads and their divine progenitors, the Abyssal Ones. While she managed to help defeat and/or kill off many Abyssal Ones, she didn't survive unscathed, as she herself became an eldritch Alicorn thanks to their influence. The Abyssal Wars also left her with considerable psychological trauma because they contributed to the end of the Third Age itself.
  • Dream Walker: As a goddess of Dreams, she can enter not only people's dreams, but also the wider Dream world and its various inner realms ruled over by the Somareia and other non-related Dream deities.
  • Dream Weaver: As a goddess of Dreams, she can both create and destroy dreams and dream realms, to the point of rendering people unable to dream indefinitely. And as a goddess of Protection, she has powers that allow her to fortify dreams to protect them from threats like Dream Demons, with her powers being much stronger in the Dream world. As her reaction to the Third Age's cataclysmic end showed, she can change the layout of dream realms, turning her own into a copy of the Third Age in her grief-fueled attempts to keep it alive in some fashion.
  • Eldritch Transformation: During the "Abyssal Wars", she ended up transforming into an eldritch Alicorn thanks to the Abyssal Ones' sheer eldritch influence. Thus, she has traits like a mane and tail whose hair colors blended to resemble a night sky, a mutated Cutie Mark with the cloud part becoming cloud-like spots on her body, a body that constantly shifts and distorts itself to reflect the dreams of others, and wings with feathers made of Dream energy. Her mane and tail show images of various dreams, but they're presently foggy and less clear. Her eyes constantly glow and show people their innermost dreams and desires when looked into.
  • Emerald Power: Part of her mane and tail is green, and she's a powerful, eldritch Alicorn goddess who embodies Dreams, Sleep, and Protection. Her entry notes that her "Twice as Fancy" mutation enhanced her Cutie Mark-related dream powers in exchange for lessening her tribal magics (as well as the tribal magics of every Pony tribe post-Ascension); after her Eldritch Transformation during the Third Age's "Abyssal Wars", she became powerful enough to affect eldritch deities with her powers, such as Dr. Endless Dreams.
  • Emotion Suppression: Deconstructed. Despite being horribly traumatized by her time as the Hydianites' prisoner, she tried to hide her PTSD and negative emotions, feeling like a "failure" for being captured by the Hydianites and wanting to continue help her friends. Naturally, when her trauma inevitably caught up with her, she had a psychological breakdown, leaving her worse off than before. Fortunately, her friends and family would help her through it, and she ended up meeting Somarenus, who also helped her recover while training her powers.
  • Energy Weapon: As a goddess of Dreams, she can manifest dream energy in the form of energy beams.
  • Freudian Excuse: Many of her worst flaws and impulses, such as her anger issues, come from her time as a prisoner of the Hydianites, who subjected her to Cold-Blooded Torture and tried permanently twisting her to their worldview so they can have her spread suffering in the wider Dream world. However, it's deconstructed when she developed a grudge against good Dark Magic users like Princess Winter Opera, thinking that those who use similar magics as the Hydianites did can't be good. Thankfully, she has since realized her mistake in thinking this way.
  • Friend to All Children: She's well-known for being very fond of children, and in her mortal youth, she babysat a lot of foals and threw slumber parties for them. One slumber party included the infant twins Sleepy Head and Sleep Tight, the teenage Flutter Pony Pink Dreams, and the Pony toddler Nightcap who had grown her first tooth at the time. She also killed a Dream Demon to protect the foals of Paradise Estate. One good way to genuinely provoke her is to harm a child; as a goddess of Dreams and Sleep, there are many ways she can make your life hell as punishment.
  • From Zero to Hero: She started off as a very sleepy filly who was bullied by other foals for having an "ugly" Cutie Mark (which was caused by her "Twice as Fancy" mutation). After her friend Quarterback protected her from her bullies, she went on to become one of many heroes of the First Age, inspired by Quarterback's example. Four Ages later, she's presently a powerful, eldritch Alicorn goddess of Dreams, Sleep, and Protection who, as an adoptive member of the Somareia, serves as both a guardian and therapist for innocent dreamers, especially young children. She also rules over her own dream realm, Paradise, as its Queen.
  • Gentle Giant: As an Alicorn from the first Age, she's huge, though smaller than the older Dream Valley Alicorns and the Six Dreamers. She got even taller after transforming into an eldritch goddess during the "Abyssal Wars", though not as drastic as others like Dr. Endless Dreams. Regardless of what happened, she's a beloved Queen, as well as a loving husband and mother, who wishes to help people sleep better and protect them in their dreams.
  • Glowing Eyes: After her Eldritch Transformation, her eyes started glowing constantly. They also show people their innermost dreams and desires when looked at. This only occurs in her true form, though.
  • God in Human Form: After turning into an eldritch Alicorn during the "Abyssal Wars", she generally appears as her mortal self or as a 'default' Alicorn because her true form is unnerving and incomprehensible.
  • God Is Good: She is a friendly and gentle-voiced mare and goddess who cares about everyone's well-being even in sleep, and serves as a dream therapist by calming people's anxieties and helping them deal with the underlying issues affecting their dreams (or nightmares) so they can get a good night's sleep. She is also The High Queen of her Dream realm, Paradise, protecting it from Dream demons and other threats, as well as a loving mother and wife.
  • God of Good: She not only embodies Dream and Sleep, she also embodies Protection, which is extremely important considering that lots of bad things can happen while one is asleep, including the various monsters that stalk the wider Dream realm to prey on innocent dreamers.
  • Good Parents: Despite her apparent flaws as a mother, she genuinely loves and cherishes all of her children, including the ones she created by herself prior to her marriage to Quarterback like her oldest son, Crown-Prince Lucid Dreaming. and her daughters, the Dream Beauties.
  • Good Smells Good: As a goddess of Sleep, she can exude an aura that magically generates pleasant odors to help people fall asleep. This is a huge boon for those who have trouble sleeping or suffer from sleep-related ailments. She's also a kind, benevolent goddess who seeks to protect dreamers and help them have a good night's sleep.
  • Good Wings, Evil Wings: A "Multicolored Wings" example. Because deities get Stronger with Age, she developed a magical wing gradient going from white to blue, green, and yellow in that order to show how old and powerful she is. Following the "Abyssal Wars", her wings gained feathers made of Dream energy to show how eldritch she became.
  • Hair of Gold, Heart of Gold: Part of her mane and tail is yellow, and she's a benevolent Alicorn goddess who not only protects people from various Dream-related threats while they're sleeping, but also serves as a therapist for those suffering from trauma and other psychological disorders that prevent them from sleeping. She's also The High Queen of her own Dream realm and a loving mother and wife, and is a Friend to All Children. Even in her mortal youth, she was a hero who fought many threats of the First Age, including the Hydianites.
  • Hates Being Touched: After being rescued from the Hydianites' torments, one sign of her trauma is that she hated being touched by strangers. It's possible her captors violated her at some point, further evidenced by how she created several of her children by herself using Dream magic and how she didn't marry Quarterback until well into the Second Age.
  • Heavenly Blue: She has light blue eyes, and part of her mane and tail is colored blue, all to highlight her divinity and power as a goddess of Dreams. After her Eldritch Transformation, the blue part of her mane and tail blended with her other colors to resemble a night sky, showing how otherworldly she had become.
  • The High Queen: She's the Queen of her own Dream realm, Paradise, and yet she's beloved by all those who live in it because she protects them from Dream Demons and other threats.
  • Holy Halo: Post-Ascension, she gained a halo made of Protection energy.
  • Ironic Name: "Pillow Talk" is a metaphor referring to an intimate conversation between lovers, which completely contrasts her platonic fondness and relationships with children. It doesn't become so ironic anymore once she marries Quarterback, a foalhood friend and an Ascendant god. Her Dream realm, Paradise, and her Magic Staff, Blessed Dreams, can also count as this considering she tried turning Paradise into a copy of the Third Age in denial and suffered from nightmares about her past torture by the Hydianites, respectively.
  • Immortality Begins at Twenty: Subverted; deities in the Codexverse "grow" by getting Stronger with Age, becoming increasingly stronger, bigger, and eldritch. As a Alicorn goddess from the First Age, she's bigger than Alicorns from succeeding Ages, yet smaller than both the Dream Valley Alicorns and the Six Dreamers. She also has eldritch traits like a Holy Halo, a magical wing gradient, and a mane and tail made of energy; after the Abyssal Wars, she became increasingly eldritch with her appearance revolving around the ever-changing nature of dreams, due to being exposed to the Abyssal Ones' influence and power.
  • The Insomniac: Invoked; as a goddess of Sleep, she can inflict people with insomnia by magically robbing them of their ability to sleep. She generally uses this power to punish wicked people for their actions.
  • Jerkass Realization: Her trauma regarding her time as a prisoner of the Hydianites left her holding a grudge against even good Dark Magic users like Princess Winter Opera, seeing them as no different from the Hydianites who tortured her. Thankfully, she has since realized her mistake in lumping good people who happen to use dark magic with their genuinely wicked counterparts.
  • Karmic Jackpot:
    • For killing a Dream Demon that was menacing multiple foals and helping them sleep better, she was lauded as a hero by the Ponies of Paradise Estate. Several parents let her babysit their children and throw slumber parties for them, knowing her Dream magic allowed her to protect them in their sleep. Her heroics also attracted the Somareia, who started training her out of interest in her potential.
    • What partially allowed her to Ascend to godhood is her realization that, despite suffering horribly at the hands of Hydianites, others might suffer worse fates than her and thus needed her protection.
    • She helped a young, mortal Tranquil Dream overcome his guilt over unwittingly associating with a sexual predator, even if he did help expose said sexual predator, and took him in as a student. Centuries later, Tranquil Dream would save her life by protecting her from Demonic Possession by an Abyssal One during the "Abyssal Wars", and when she fell into grief-fueled denial over the loss of the Third Age, Tranquil Dream (who by then had transformed into an eldritch god) was among those who comforted her and helped her overcome her grief.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: Invoked by her; as a goddess of Dreams, Sleep, and Protection, she is generally invested in the life and wellbeing of those she looks after, but she will inflict nightmares and other sleep-related ailments to punish people for unsavory actions.
    • She revealed that she was responsible for cursing many wicked Ponies with nightmares in the Second Age, including War Rock, who became a villainous Godhood Seeker and killed many people just to get the divine immortality he wanted. However, it didn't work, as War Rock was a sociopathic narcissist and thus refused to change his ways, which ended up damning him twice.
    • in the Fourth Age, she punished many Equestrians for letting their Irrational Hatred and Fantastic Racism influence them to mistreat Princess Luna, contributing to the latter's corruption into Nightmare Moon. However, she didn't punish Princess Celestia as she already was plagued with guilt over her own actions, and she only fought Nightmare Moon and her forces to protect innocent dreamers from being hurt by the Fallen goddess.
  • Magic Hair: Her mane and tail became composed of Dream energy post-Ascension. Following the "Abyssal Wars" where she got turned into an eldritch Alicorn, her mane and tail colors blended to resemble a night sky and showed images of various dreams, though they're presently foggy and less clear.
  • Magic Staff: Her main weapon is a divine staff named Blessed Dreaming, which allows to manipulate dreams and cast spells related to her domains on grater scales.
  • The Magnificent: Known as "the Protector of Dreams", due to being a goddess of Dreams,.
  • Meaningful Name:
    • "Pillow Talk" is a metaphor referring to an intimate conversation between lovers. It's also an Ironic Name that contrasts her platonic fondness and relationships with children... at least until she marries Quarterback, a foalhood friend of hers and a fellow Ascendant god.
    • Her Alicorn name, Dulce Somnii, means "sweet dreams" in Latin. She's an Alicorn goddess of Dreams, Sleep, and Protection who protects the dreams of others and helps ensure a good night's sleep by helping her charges with their issues. She's also the beloved Queen of Paradise, which she created with aid from the Somareia following her Ascension, with her Dream realm being one of the most protected places in the wider Dream world. It gets ironic in light of how her trauma of being the Hydianites' prisoner and torture victim left her suffering from nightmares, and how she transformed Paradise into a copy of the Third Age out of denial.
    • Her Magic Staff is called Blessed Dreams, relating to her benevolence and her work in ensuring pleasant dreams/sleep for everyone.
  • Meaningful Rename: Her birth name was Pillow Talk. After Ascending to godhood and becoming Queen of her own Dream realm, she was crowned as Queen Dulce Somnii Paradise. Dulce Somnii means "sweet dreams" in Latin, referring to both her duties as a Somareia member and her nature as a goddess of Dreams, Sleep, and Protection.
  • Mentor Archetype: She took in many students in the Ages that came after the First Age, such as Tranquil Dream and Dr. Endless Dreams after she Ascended to eldritch godhood.
  • Mind Rape: One of the things the Hydianites did to her was attempt to permanently twist her mind and soul to their philosophy so she could spread suffering throughout the Dream world. While the Hydianites got in huge trouble due to their actions violating Primeval Laws regarding dreams, the experience still left her psychologically broken by the time she was rescued and took a long time to recover from it. It also left her with a burning hatred for Hydianites and wicked witch/warlock covens in general, which caused her to distrust even good dark magic users like Princess Winter Opera, though she later realized her mistake.
  • Modest Royalty: Zigzagged. Despite being the Queen of her own Dream realm, she is generally either naked or wearing pajamas. But when attending to her royal duties or on official business in the waking world, she wears divine prismatic barding with a matching crown.
  • Moving Beyond Bereavement: She was hit hard by the loss of the Third Age, especially since the Oceanaiads helped end it with their suicidal final gambit out of spite. When the Fourth Age's own trials and tribulations seemingly made it clear things weren't getting any better, she proceeded to isolate herself in her own Dream realm and changed it to resemble the lost Third Age out of denial. With the help of her loved ones, her fellow Somareia, and several Death deities, she realized she was hurting everyone with her obsession with the past, and let go of her grief so she could continue protecting the people who depended on her. Moon Ray/Canticum even lampshades the trope in regards to her:
Prince Canticum Lunae Cahaya: Grief's a powerful thing, an' it can be easy t' get addicted ta it. Ah know this 'cause Ah've felt an' seen its effects with mah own eyes.
  • Mutants: She's a "Twice as Fancy" Pony whose mutation not only led to her Cutie Mark covering both sides of her body, but also drastically empowered her Cutie Mark-related Dream magic in exchange for weakening her Earth Pony magic. After Ascending to godhood, her mutation applied to the magics of all other Pony tribes she gained, making her racial powers far weaker compared to other Alicorns.
  • Nightmare Weaver: As a goddess of Dreams, she can inflict nightmares, which she generally does to punish wicked people or any other sort of wrongdoing. She did this in the Second Age, with one of them being War Rock, but the latter being The Sociopath meant he remained unrepentant until he died. She also cursed many mortal Equestrians with nightmares to punish them for their Irrational Hatred and Fantastic Racism that factored into Princess Luna's transformation into Nightmare Moon. Following her Eldritch Transformation, she became powerful enough to inflict nightmares on eldritch entities like Dr. Endless Dreams. However, as a dream therapist, she is skilled in curing and helping people overcome their nightmares as well.
  • No-Sell: As a goddess of Sleep, she is naturally immune to both sleep and insomnia-inducing spells, and she can extend this immunity to others.
  • O.C. Stand-in: Unlike many Ponies of the G1 toyline, Pillow Talk came as part of the "Slumber Party Gift Pack" toy set with no backstory card to her name. Here, she started off as a Paradise Pony who became one of many heroes of the First Age, then later a powerful, eldritch Alicorn goddess of Dreams, Sleep, and Protection who serves as a therapist and guardian of dreamers (especially children), the husband of Quarterback, one of the "Big Brother Ponies", and the mother of many children.
  • Oppose What You Suffered: She despises bullies, due to being bullied for having an "ugly" Cutie Mark in her foalhood. One prime example of this is how she called a Dream Demon a "bully" for preying on innocent foals before killing him with Dream magic to protect his young would-be victims. She also opposes covens of wicked witches and warlocks and Hydianites so she can protect people from going through the same horrible tortures she went through in her youth.
  • Our Gods Are Different: She's an "Ascendant" deity, the rarest of the three main types of deities in the Codexverse. She's also an Alicorn, making her an Ethnic God for Ponykind, albeit an eldritch one thanks to the Abyssal Ones' sheer influence warping her appearance and powers. And as a deity, she ages quite differently from mortals; while she is immortal, she's also Nigh-Invulnerable and becomes more eldritch and powerful the "older" she gets.
  • Parents as People: She made a lot of mistakes while raising her children, including Crown-Prince Lucid Dreaming and the Dream Beauties, but she nonetheless loved and cherished them all the same.
  • Past Experience Nightmare: She suffered from nightmares about her torture by the Hydianites long after she was rescued from them. Fortunately, the Somareia and Somarenus himself would help her with this.
  • Personality Powers: Her domains of Dreams, Sleep, and Protection come from her desire to protect people even in their dreams and help ensure a good night's sleep for all, though she is willing to let wicked and/or Jerkass dreamers suffer nightmares to punish them for unsavory actions.
  • Physical God: As an Alicorn goddess, she is this. As a goddess of Dreams and Sleep, she is capable of casting spells relating to her domains, including inflicting nightmares, creating dream realms and sapient dream entities (which is how she created many of her children like Crown-Prince Lucid Dreaming and the Dream Beauties), sending people into a healing sleep, and inflict sleep-related ailments like sleep paralysis and insomnia. And as a goddess of Protection, she can erect nigh-unbreakable barriers in both the waking and Dream worlds, and can cast various spells that protect innocents from dream-based threats like Dream demons. Following her Eldritch Transformation during the "Abyssal Wars" she became stronger to the point where she can affect eldritch entities and gained knowledge on how to ward against them. Even before Ascending, she had powerful Dream magic, which affected her overall power as a goddess when she finally did Ascend.
  • Post-Stress Overeating: She admits to liking junk food such as popcorn, hamburgers, fries, and cookies, but she tends to binge-eat in order to cope with her grief and PTSD. Considering what she went through as a prisoner of the Hydianites, she likely had done this many times.
  • The Power of Creation: As a goddess of Dreams, she can create living, sapient Dream entities out of dream energy. This is how she created her oldest son, Crown-Prince Lucid Dreaming, and her daughters, the Dream Beauties, prior to marrying her foalhood friend, Quarterback.
  • Pre-Mortem One-Liner: In her mortal youth, she uttered one moments before killing the Dream Demon that was tormenting the foals of Paradise Estate:
Pillow Talk: You are nothing but a bully! Now GO AWAY!
  • Purple Is Powerful: She has a lilac pelt (i.e. a pale shade of purple), and even as a young filly, she had Dream magic so strong that she frequently talked in her sleep. It helped that she was born a Twice as Fancy Pony, which enhanced her Cutie Mark-related magic in exchange for weakening her Earth Pony magic. She learns to control her powers better under the Somareia and later Somarenus herself, and later Ascends to godhood as the Alicorn goddess of Dreams, Sleep, and Protection after spending several years helping her friends fight the First Age's many threats. In the Third Age, she becomes an even more powerful eldritch goddess after she participates in the "Abyssal Wars" and gets affected by the Abyssal Ones' sheer eldritch influence and power.
  • Rape as Drama: It's heavily implied that her Hydianite captors raped her as part of her torture, considering that she hated being touched by strangers and created her first children by herself using Dream magic following her Ascension. Whatever happened, her torture left her deeply traumatized, and some aspects of her PTSD still lingers to this day.
  • Reality Warper: As a goddess of Dreams, she is capable of creating entire Dream realms, and magically changing their appearance and layout on a whim. This was best shown in her act of transforming her own Dream realm, Paradise, into a copy of various Third Age civilizations to keep the Third Age's memory alive long after it ended.
  • Related in the Adaptation:
    • She married and became the loving wife of Quarterback, a "Big Brother Pony" who befriended her in their mortal youth and defended her from bullies. In canon, they were sold in separate toy sets and thus weren't related at all.
    • She's also the mother of the Dream Beauties by way of creating them entirely from Dream magic, due to her ties to the Somareia and the wider Dream world. In canon, they weren't related to each other at all.
  • Repression Never Ends Well: Despite having suffered horribly under the Hydianites, she tried to hide her PTSD and negative emotions — both out of shame and guilt for being captured by the enemy, and wanting to continue helping her friends. This bites her hard when her PTSD eventually catches up to her, causing her to have a breakdown and leaving her worse off than before. Fortunately, her friends and family never begrudged her for it or the horrible circumstances that led to her self-repression, and proceeded to help her recover.
  • The Shrink: An "Awesome Shrink" example. As a goddess of Dreams, Sleep, and Protection, while part of her divine duties involves protecting innocent people in their dreams while they sleep, she also serves as a therapist who helps people with their problems so they can have a good night's sleep. This includes magically generating pleasant odors that calm and help people fall asleep, curing people of sleep-related ailments, and interpreting people's dreams so she could get to the underlying issues that are affecting them. Indeed, many Seers often pray to her for help in interpreting their visions because of her skill in dream interpretation.
  • Slumber Party: In her mortal youth, she was known for throwing slumber parties for the young foals of Paradise Estate. As she possessed Dream magic, the slumber parties were a convenient way for her to both entertain and protect the foals from threats like Dream Demons while they slept.
  • Talking in Your Sleep: In her foalhood, she was known for being a sleepyhead who constantly talked in her sleep due to her dreams being very vivid. While the other foals were frightened of her, the adults were more understanding as her parents were Clerics of Somarenus, the Sleep Primeval, and thus helped others with their dreams. It's eventually discovered, following her killing of a Dream demon, that she was born with powerful Dream magic that was further enhanced by her Twice as Fancy mutation. This led to her becoming a student of the Somareia and, later, Somarenus himself.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: She loves eating junk food like cookies, popcorn, hamburgers, and fries, and admits to it. This comiplicates things as she tends to binge-eat to cope with her trauma.
  • Truly Single Parent: She is the mother of her oldest son and child, Crown-Prince Lucid Dreaming, and her daughters, the Dream Beauties, via creating them from Dream energy by herself. Despite this, she loves all of them even though she isn't the perfect parent.
  • Voluntary Shapeshifting: As a goddess of Dreams, she can shapeshift on a whim and appear to others in different forms.
  • Winged Unicorn: She's a lilac-furred Alicorn goddess with a multi-colored yellow, blue, and green mane and tail made of Dream energy, a halo made of Protection energy, and a wing gradient going from lilac to blue, green, and yellow in that order. Following her Eldritch Transformation in the Third Age, she became an eldritch Alicorn with traits like her Cutie mark mutating to become cloud-like spots on her body, a mane and tail that resembles a night sky showing foggy images of various dreams, Glowing Eyes that show people their innermost dreams/desires when looked into, and a body that constantly shifts and distorts itself to reflect the dreams of others.
  • Xenafication: Pillow Talk was only featured in one G1 Pony toy set called the "Slumber Party Gift Pack", with not even a backstory card to her name. In the Codexverse, she starts off as a sleep-talking filly with powerful Dream magic until she made her first kill while protecting the foals of Paradise of Estate from a Dream Demon. Under the tutelage of the Somareia and later Somarenus himself, she becomes a capable heroine who helped her fellow Paradise Ponies combat many threats of the First Age, including the Hydianites. While she was left psychologically broken when the Hydianites captured and tortured her, she was able to bounce back thanks to her friends and family's support, later Ascending to godhood as the Alicorn goddess of Dreams, Sleep, and Protection. In the Third Age, she participated in the "Abyssal Wars" and helped fight the Abyssal Ones, which transformed her into an eldritch goddess due to the Abyssal Ones' sheer eldritch presence and power.

Crown-Prince Lucid Dreaming, the Prince of Imagination

Classification: Ethereal

Portfolio: Lucid Dreaming, Imagination, Creativity

Rank: Divine (Tier IV/Greater)

Affiliation: Somareia (main), Paradise (dream world)

Crown-Prince Lucid Dreaming is the Alicorn god of Lucid Dreaming, Imagination, and Creativity, and is the oldest son and child of Queen Dulce Somnii Paradise.
  • Anthropomorphic Personification: He's an Alicorn god who embodies Lucid Dreaming, Imagination, and Creativity.
  • Divine Parentage: He's the oldest son and child of Pillow Talk/Dulce, an Ascendant Alicorn goddess, who created him solely with Dream magic.
  • Fan-Created Offspring: He's the oldest son and child of Queen Pillow Talk/Dulce, being the Crown-Prince of Paradise, but he's also a completely original character and isn't based any existing canon character from G1.

Tranquil Dream, the Healer of Dreams

Classification: Ethereal/Ascendant, Eldritch

Portfolio: Dreams, Tranquility, Mind

Rank: Divine (???; believed to be Tier III/Intermediate)

Affiliation: Somareia (main), Redeeming Six

"bY cAlMiNg OuR mInDs AnD hEaLiNg OuR aNxIeTiEs, We ImPrOvE oUr SlEePiNg HaBiTs, wHiCh LeAdS tO gOoD dReAmS."

Tranquil Dream (his entry here) is the eldritch Pony god of Dreams, Tranquility, and Mind, and is both Velvet Heart/Amare's first husband and an honorary member of the Redeeming Six.
  • Abstract Apotheosis: He became an eldritch god by letting an Abyssal One possess him to protect his weakened mentor, Pillow Talk/Dulce, then overpowered and assimilated said Abyssal One via sheer force of will. His apotheosis was noted to have been so traumatic that it factored into his decision to retreat from the world entirely after the Third Age ended.
  • Angelic Transformation: He became an Angel of Dreams in the Second Age after choosing to work under his mentor, Pillow Talk/Dulce, so he could help people at a greater capacity. It doesn't last long, however, as he ends up Ascending to eldritch godhood in the Third Age while fighting in the "Abyssal Wars".
  • Animalistic Abomination: After overpowering and assimilating Cthadr'mag into himself, he became a gigantic, eldritch god who has multiple eyes, has a body composed of things related to good dreams and tranquility like lights and sounds, and sports a magnificent halo made of light. It's noted that unlike the nightmarish-looking Dr. Endless Dreams, he looks rather angelic by comparison, as he resembles either a living sunrise or the birth of a dream. It helps that due to the circumstances of his Ascension, he became connected to the Dream and mental worlds simultaneously.
  • Anthropomorphic Personification: He's an eldritch Pony god who embodies Dreams, Tranquility, and Mind. His entry also describes his true divine form as either "a living sunrise or the birth of a dream in Pony form" to contrast the more nightmarish-looking Endless Dreams.
  • Attention Deficit... Ooh, Shiny!: One of his flaws post-Ascension is that he had a tendency to be distracted by people's various dreams and thoughts, due to being magically connected to the Dream and mental worlds.
  • Bad Powers, Good People: As an eldritch god of Dreams and Mind, he has the power and option to drive people mad by corrupting their dreams and minds, and is certainly strong enough to affect eldritch beings. However, this is offset by his domain of Tranquility, and being the Nice Guy he is, he refuses to do this unless his target(s) are genuinely wicked and unrepentant people.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: While he does have flaws, he's generally a friendly, compassionate stallion who desires to help people deal with their anxieties so they could improve their sleeping habits and dreams. He's also a loving husband to Lily Lightly and father to his many children (and descendants). This didn't change much after he became an eldritch god. That being said, he is still an eldritch god, with his magical connections to the Dream and mental worlds increasing his already incomprehensible power — when enraged, he is capable of driving people mad, including other eldritch beings.
  • Blue Is Calm: He had a sky-blue mane and tail when he was a mortal. While his personality is much warmer than most examples and he did have moments of emotional turmoil, he recovered from them, and ultimately chose to become both a yoga instructor and dream therapist so he could help calm people's anxieties. After assimilating an Abyssal One into himself, he Ascended and became the eldritch god of Tranquility. Naturally, his domain in part protects him from falling into full-blown insanity compared to his Second Age counterpart, Dr. Endless Dreams, a mortal who Ascended like he did but has different domains.
  • Blue Is Heroic: He had a sky-blue mane and tail, and he is a compassionate stallion who helped heal people of their anxieties through yoga and dream therapy. Notably, his clients included villains who suffered from sleep ailments and psychological issues. Presently, he is an eldritch Pony god, having become one by overpowering and assimilating an Abyssal One, Cthadr'mag, to stop them from wrecking the Dream worlds during the Third Age's "Abyssal Wars". Despite his incomprehensible character, he still remained genuinely benevolent and continued serving as a yoga instructor.
  • Breaking the Cycle of Bad Parenting: His father was a deadbeat who abandoned him when he was a colt, forcing his mother to raise him all by herself. Tens of thousands of years later, he married Lily Lightly, but he was a very faithful and loving husband to her, and an equally loving father to all the kids and descendants they had together.
  • Broken Pedestal: He was devastated when he learned his yoga instructor, who helped him recover from his earlier mental breakdown, turned out to be a sexual predator. While he helped expose the yoga instructor, his extreme guilt over unwittingly associating with a corrupt monster caused him to suffer a Heroic BSoD. Thankfully, he ends up being treated by Pillow Talk/Dulce, who noticed the deteriorated state of his dreams and desired to help him overcome his guilt.
  • Broke Your Arm Punching Out Cthulhu: Similarly to Dr. Endless Dreams before him, he helped save billions of lives when he overpowered and assimilated an Abyssal One, Cthadr'mag, into himself, which transformed him into an eldritch Pony god of incomprehensible power. However, the transformation not only left him somewhat insane, it was also extremely traumatizing — so much that he tried retreating from the world entirely, unable to comprehend what he became. Fortunately, he was found by both Somarenus and his loved ones, but it's noted that even presently, he still struggled with controlling his eldritch powers to manageable levels at times.
  • Chastity Couple: His first marriage to Velvet Heart was strictly platonic, with them being more akin to close friends than husband and wife. It's justified as Velvet Heart married him to recover from both her grief over Moon Ray's sudden death and her pain over being emotionally abused by Sunny Field. For his part, he understood the circumstances behind their marriage and later gave Velvet his blessing to get together with Moon Ray again after they both died. However, it's later deconstructed as he came to love Velvet Heart romantically, but grew frustrated with how she never reciprocated his feelings due to loving Moon Ray, which negatively influenced how he viewed Moon Ray himself. Once he got to know Moon Ray, he realized he was letting his own biases and desires poison his perceptions of the latter, and let Moon Ray pursue Velvet Heart. He does eventually find love again, this time in Lily Lightly, with their marriage being a happy one.
  • Classical Anti-Hero: He's a friendly, compassionate stallion who desires to help people overcome their problems and ease their minds so they can have a good night's sleep, as shown with his domain of Tranquility. However, he can be selfish, stubborn, and judgmental, letting his own desires and biases affect how he perceived others while pursuing things at the cost of his own health. A huge part of his character development involves learning how to develop empathy for others and keep his own desires in check.
  • Cloudcuckoolander: Justified. Like Endless Dreams, he became somewhat insane upon assimilating an Abyssal One into himself and Ascending to eldritch godhood, though it's possible that he just sees and understands things that others can't. This is not helped by his adoptive father being Somarenus, one of the Grand Primevals, who all have very alien mindsets to varying degrees. However, he is not as insane as Endless Dreams due to a combination of his strong willpower, his Tranquility domain, and Somarenus' constructive guidance.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: As a young colt, he was abandoned by his father, and his mother was often stressed and overworked trying to provide for him alone. His love for his mother and desire to give her a happier life eventually got him employed by a prestigious company in Ponyland... only to suffer a mental breakdown and quit his job because he ultimately couldn't handle his job's demands or his company's work conditions, causing him to feel like a failure. He recovered after an ex-coworker introduced him to yoga, but then he discovered his yoga instructor was a sexual predator behind closed doors. While he helped expose the corrupt yoga instructor, the extreme guilt he felt over associating with such a stallion caused him to have nightmares. Fortunately, he was found by a sympathetic Pillow Talk/Dulce, and the rest was history.
  • Deity of Human Origin: He was a mortal Earth Pony who, through a series of events, became an eldritch god like Endless Dreams did by fighting back against an Abyssal One's attempts to corrupt him after it possesed him, and assimilating it into himself after breaking his possessor's mind.
  • Demonic Possession: Like Dr. Endless Dreams before him, he ends up being possessed by an Abyssal One, Cthadr'mag. However, he willingly let it happened to him in order to save his weakened mentor, Pillow Talk/Dulce, from getting possessed. Then he fights back against Cthadr'mag with sheer Heroic Willpower, eventualy overpowering and assimilating the Abyssal One into himself, leading to him Ascending to eldritch godhood.
  • Determinator: One of his most prominent traits is his stubbornness — if he decides he's going to do something, he'll stick to it. This ended up saving billions of lives during the Third Age's "Abyssal Wars" when he overpowered and assimilated an Abyssal One into himself with Heroic Willpower to save Pillow Talk/Dulce from being possessed. However, it can also be one of his most prominent flaws, as his stubbornness can make him rather impulsive and judgmental, as shown with how he initially treated Moon Ray prior to his Jerkass Realization.
  • Did You Just Punch Out Cthulhu?: Like Endless Dreams before him, he ends up overpowering and assimilating an Abyssal One into himself via sheer Heroic Willpower, leading to his Eldritch Transformation. However, in his case, he willingly let the Abyssal One in question, Cthadr'mag, possess him to protect his weakened mentor from the same fate, and because he was in the Dream world when it happened, he Ascended to eldritch godhood with a magical connection to the Dream world itself.
  • Divine Parentage: He's presently an eldritch god, and following his Ascension, he became the adoptive son of Somarenus, the Sleep Primeval. Through his wife Lily Lightly, he himself became the ancestor of Tree Hugger, an Earth Pony hippie and one of Fluttershy's close friends in the Fourth Age.
  • Dream Walker: After becoming one of Pillow Talk/Dulce's students, he gained Dream magic, allowing him to enter other people's dreams at will. After becoming an Angel of Dreams, and later, an eldritch god of Dreams, his ability to do this increased drastically, helped by his magical connection to the Dream world itself.
  • Dream Weaver: As a god of Dreams, he could do things other Dream deities can, like creating and/or altering dreams and nightmares, entering the Dream realm (and other people's dreams) at will, and manifesting Dream energy in different forms like beams, barriers, and constructs. This domain also allows him to repair Dream realms, which he did after the Abyssal Ones' rampages during the "Abyssal War" left the Dream world in disrepair. However, because of the unique circumstances of his Ascension, he is an eldritch god who is magically connected to the Dream world itself, with his powers being strong enough to drive peope mad, affect the dreams of eldritch beings, and perform reality-warping on grander scales than a typical Dream deity could do.
  • Driven to Madness: As an eldritch god of Dreams and Mind, he can drive people mad if he chose to. However, he generally doesn't like doing it, only reserving such a fate for those who are genuinely wicked. Since Ascending, he has spent much of his time healing anyone who had been driven mad by the Abyssal Ones' power and influence.
  • Eldritch Abomination: This is what he became after overpowering and assimilating Cthadr'mag, an Abyssal One, into himself. While his "default" divine form is simply a large Earth Pony with Alicorn-like proportions and a beard, mane, and tail composed of cloud-like Tranquility energy, his true divine form is described as a gigantic, Pony-like entity that exists in physical reality, the Dream world, and the mental world all at once. His body is described as either a living sunrise or the birth of a dream in Pony form, being composed of lights, sounds, scents, clouds, and other things relating to good dreams and tranquility. His face has multiple glowing eyes that show images of what makes the viewer(s) happy when looked into, and his head is adorned with a magnificent halo of light while flanked by large, floating eyes. His entry notes that his true form looks positively angelic compared to the more nightmarish Endless Dreams, but he still chooses not to appear in it outside of certain situations since his true form is unnerving and incomprehensible.
  • Eldritch Transformation: Like Endless Dreams before him, he became an eldritch god by getting possessed by an Abyssal One, Cthadr'mag, and overpowering and assimilating them into himself by sheer force of will, Ascending in the process. However, his transformation was so traumatic that it factored into his decision to retreat from the world after the Third Age ended. Thankfully, he was found by Somarenus as well as his family and friends, who all helped him overcome his grief over his situation.
  • Emotion Suppression: Deconstructed; one of his flaws is his tendency to bottle up his emotions for other people's sake. Despite seeing Moon Ray as a Jerkass and resenting him for being Velvet Heart's First Love, he kept his feelings to himself, not wanting to destroy Velvet Heart's happiness. However, this affected his dreams, attracting the attention of his mentor, Pillow Talk/Dulce. On Pillow Talk/Dulce's advice, he talked with Moon Ray and found they were more similar than they thought, which not only healed his mental state, but also forced him to realize that he judged Moon Ray based on his flaws without bothering to see his good traits or whatever issues he was suffering from.
  • The Empath: One of his Psychic Powers is empathy. Ascending to eldritch godhood and becoming a god of Mind vastly boosted his power to the point where he rivaled or surpassed a post-re-Ascension Moon Ray.
  • Entitled to Have You: Deconstructed. While he genuinely loved Velvet Heart and did everything he could to support her until their last breaths, he wanted Velvet Heart to reciprocate his romantic feelings and was deeply frustrated when she didn't. His frustration worsened when he met Moon Ray for the first time and saw the latter's worst flaws, convincing him that only he deserved Velvet Heart's love by virtue of knowing her longer and marrying her first. This influenced him to behave antagonisticaly towards Moon Ray, whom he saw as a compelte Jerkass. However, when he decided to have a heart-to-heart with Moon Ray on Pillow Talk/Dulce's advice, he realizes he was wrong to let his own desires and biases make him judgemental of Moon Ray without getting to know him first. He apologizes to him for his behavior, and gives Moon Ray his blessing to get together with Velvet Heart again.
  • Eternal Love: His relationship with his second wife, Lily Lightly, is presently this, as they are both deities (with himself being an eldritch god), yet they are Happily Married with lots of children and descendants.
  • Extra Eyes: His true divine form has a face with multiple glowing eyes that show images of what makes the viewer(s) happy when looked into, while his head is flanked by large floating eyes.
  • Foil:
    • To Dr. Endless Dreams, a fellow eldritch deity. Both are honorary members of their respective groups, though Endless Dreams is part of the Virtusidae, the Ascendant children of legendary superheroines, while Tranquil Dream is part of the Redeeming Six, a group of six Ponies who made huge mistakes and later chose to help redeem others. Endless Dreams was sickly and physically weak in her early life, whereas Tranquil Dream suffered from mental/emotional stress in his. While Endless Dreams became a Gadgeteer Genius hero, Tranquil Dream became a yoga instructor and dream therapist. Endless Dreams was later kidnapped by a cult and forced to become the vessel for an Abyssal One against her will, only to end up Ascending to godhood when she overpowered and assimilated the Abyssal One trying to possess her. Tranquil Dream ended up doing the same an Age later, except he willingly let an Abyssal One possess him to save Pillow Talk/Dulce. While Endless Dreams embodies concepts that come straight out of a Cosmic Horror Story like dreams and dimensions, Tranquil Dream is the exact opposite, as he embodies the good aspects of dreams and minds, and bringing tranquility to both.
    • To Moon Ray Vaughoof. Both had terrible fathers, except Tranquil Dream's father abandoned him when he was a colt, while Moon Ray's father was physically abusive. Both chose careers that proved detrimental to their health, except Tranquil Dream worked at a prestigious yet highly-demanding company that caused him to have a mental breakdown, whereas Moon Ray chose to become a musician but nearly died from years of alcohol and drug abuse. They both Took a Level in Kindness, except Tranquil Dream learned to be less selfish and judgmental of others, while Moon Ray learned to stop obsessing over the past and to forgive those who hurt him. And while they eventually became eldritch deities, Tranquil Dream embodies abstract concepts like Dreams, Tranquility, and Mind, whereas Moon Ray embodied the natural cycle which included concepts like Death, Reincarnation, and Life.
  • Freudian Excuse: Some of his worst flaws, such as his anger issues, his Greed, and desire to support his mother at all costs, came from being abandoned by his birth father as a young colt and seeing how that affected his mother. It's deconstructed — his materialism, while stemming from good intentions, led to him suffered a mental breakdown, and his desire to help created a worrying tendency to bottle up his own emotions for others' sake. His flaws also influenced his perceptions of Velvet Heart and Moon Ray, feeling Entitled to Have You towards the former while seeing the latter as a Jerkass who doesn't desrve Velvet Heart's love. Thanks to Pillow Talk/Dulce's advice, he realizes he let his own biases poison his relationships with others, and chose to give Velvet Heart and Moon Ray his blessings.
  • From Zero to Hero: He went from an ordinary yet ambitious stallion trying to provide for his overworked, stressed-out mother, to a popular yoga instructor and dream therapist who, through a series of events, eventually became a benevolent eldritch god.
  • Gentle Giant: Post-Ascension, his "default" divine form is a large Earth Pony with Alicorn-like proportions, while his true divine form is an gigantic Eldritch Abomination that resembles a Pony. He's a friendly and compassionate stallion who wants to help people gain a peaceful state of mind by using a combination of yoga and dream therapy, having gone through a mental breakdown from being in a stressful workplace in his mortal youth and not wanting others to go through the same thing.
  • God Couple: He and his second wife, Lily Lightly, are Happily Married with lots of children and descendants, and they are presently Ascendant deities; while Lily became an Alicorn under Luminiferous' tutelage, he unexpectedly became an eldritch god when he overpowered and assimilated an Abyssal One into himself to protect both his mentor, Pillow Talk/Dulce, and the Dream world during the "Abyssal Wars".
  • God-Eating: Much like Endless Dreams before him, he killed an Abyssal One, Cthadr'mag, by assimilating it into himself through Heroic Willpower after it possessed him, Ascending to eldritch godhood in the process. Though in his case, he let Cthadr'mag possess him to protect his weakened mentor Queen Pillow Talk/Dulce from the Abyssal One.
  • Godhood Seeker: Defied at first. Due to being Pillow Talk/Dulce's student, he had the option to Ascend to godhood in his mortal lifetime, but he refused it so he could continue supporting Velvet Heart, his first wife. However, it's after he died of old age and became an Angel that he Ascended to godhood anyway in the most unexpected yet awesome way possible — overpowering and assimilating an Abyssal One by sheer force of will after it possessed him like what happened to Endless Dreams.
  • God Is Flawed: He is a friendly and compassionate stallion who wants to help calm people's anxieties so they can sleep better. But at the same time, he can be selfish, judgmental, and stubborn, and following his eldritch Ascension, he became somewhat alien and insane. At the same time, he fears going through Loss of Identity due to his eldritch status, has a tendency to bottle up his feeligns for other people's sake, and has some anger issues over his birth father abandoning him as a colt.
  • God Is Good: He is presently an eldritch god, but while he does have flaws, he is generally a friendly, compassionate stallion who seeks to help calm people's anxieties so they can have a good night's sleep. While he uses dream therapy like his mentor, Pillow Talk/Dulce, he is also a certified oga instructor and uses physical exercise to heal people spiritually. He also believes in forgiveness and mercy, which is why his clients include villains and criminals — many of them are simply desperate, traumatized people hurt by an uncaring world.
  • God of Good: He is an eldritch god who ironically embodies Tranquility, as well as the good aspects of Dreams and Mind. His portfolio reflects his nature as an angelic-looking entity that resembles a dream's birth or a living sunrise, his body composed of lights, sounds, and other things pertaining to good dreams and tranquility.
  • Greed: He developed an obsession with money because he wanted to give his mother, who was stressed and overworked trying to raise him alone as a colt, a more comfortable and easier life. This influenced him to get a job at a prestigious company with a highly demanding and stressful environment, which led to him breaking down and quitting when he couldn't handle it. His harrowing experience caused him to realize that the money he wanted, even if it was for his mother, wasn't worth suffering over, and he eventually became a yoga instructor.
  • Green-Eyed Epiphany: Played for drama. Despite genuinely loving and caring for Velvet Heart, he was frustrated that she never loved him back romantically. This factored into his hatred of Moon Ray, as he both envied him for being the object of Velvet Heart's affections and saw him as a Jerkass who doesn't deserve Velvet Heart's love. Once he gets to know Moon Ray as a person, he realizes that he was wrong to judge and dismiss Moon Ray so quickly, especially when the latter turned out to be suffering from deep-seated PTSD, and lets go of his envy. He also gives Moon Ray his blessing to pursue Velvet Heart, having accepted that Velvet Heart could never love him back the way he wanted.
  • Green-Eyed Monster: Deconstructed. He envied Moon Ray for being Velvet Heart's First Love, which contributed to his overall view of Moon Ray as a Jerkass who doesn't deserve his wife's affections. But once he actualy gets to know him, he realizes that he let his own desires and biases influence him into misjudging Moon Ray severely, especially since Moon Ray was suffering from PTSD and felt guilty for "stealing" Velvet Heart away. He apologizes for Moon Ray for his behavior, helps him with his issues, and gives him his blessing to pursue Velvet Heart again.
  • Happily Adopted: He ends up becoming an adoptive son of Somarenus, making him part of the Somareia. This finally gave him a proper father-figure after growing up without one for much of his life, even though Somarenus does have an alien mindset.
  • Happily Married:
    • He married Velvet Heart to help her recover from Moon Ray's sudden death and Sunny Field's emotional abuse. Despite knowing that their marriage was a Marriage of Convenience and Velvet Heart only saw him as a close friend, he stayed by her side for years and supported her until the end of their days. After dying of old age and overcoming his issues, he gave Velvet Heart and Moon Ray his blessing to date each other again. As a consequence, he and Velvet Heart are good friends.
    • During the Third Age, he met Lily Lightly, a young Unicorn mare who suffered from low self-esteem due to being the only one in Unicornia with a glowing horn. After helping her overcome their issues, he fell in love with her over time (and vice-versa) and eventually married her. Their relationship evolved into Eternal Love after Lily Ascended to godhood under Luminiferous' tutelage, and he Ascended later during the "Abyssal Wars" after overpowering and assimilating an Abyssal One into himself to save the Dream world (as well as his teacher, Pillow Talk/Dulce). Despite everything that happened to him, he still remembers and loves Lily dearly, as well as the numerous children and descendants they had together.
  • Hates Their Parent: It's implied he's not very fond of his birth father, as he held some anger issues due to his father abandoning him and his mother when he was a young colt. By contrast, he is closer to his mother and his adoptive father, Somarenus. This led to him bonding with Fret Pick and Prince Knight Shade, both who also grew up with absentee fathers.
  • Heavenly Blue: He had a sky-blue mane and tail, and he is presently an eldritch god who is an adoptive son of Somarenus, the Sleep Primeval, and a member of the Somareia. Many of his friends and family are also Ascendant deities like him, such as his second wife Lily Lightly, his mentor and adoptive sister Queen Pillow Talk/Dulce, and his friend Moon Ray.
  • Heroic BSoD: This happens to him twice.
    • Learning that his yoga instructor at the time was a sexual predator devastated him — so much that even after helping expose said yoga instructor, he felt extremely guilty for (unknowingly) associating with a corrupt stallion and suffered nightmares over it. This caught the attention of Queen Pillow Talk/Dulce, who became his mentor and helped him overcome his guilt.
    • While becoming an eldritch god gave him the power to help turn the tide in the "Abyssal Wars", both his Eldritch Transformation and the calamitous end of the Third Age were so traumatic for him that he retreated from the world, unable to comprehend what he became and feeling guilty for not doing more to preserve the Third Age. Fortunately, he would be found by Somarenus and his loved ones, who all helped him overcome his grief and accept that he still helped save billions lives despite everything.
  • Heroic Willpower: His stubbornness, while a flaw, played a critical role in saving billions of lives during the "Abyssal Wars" when he let an Abyssal One, Cthadr'mag, possess him to protect a weakened Pillow Talk/Dulce, then overpowered and assimilated Cthadr'mag into himself via sheer force of will. This transformed him into an eldritch god, and it's his strong will — combined with his Tranquility domain and Somarenus' constructive guidance, that kept him from becoming as insane as Dr. Endless Dreams did when she did the same thing in the Second Age.
  • Holy Halo: After he overpowered and assimilated Cthadr'mag, his true form gained a magnificent halo of light.
  • Honorary True Companion: Following his eldritch Ascension, he became an honorary member of the Redeeming Six led by Moon Ray, and is considered to be one of them as he shares their beliefs in forgivenesss and mercy. But he didn't join his friends in their adventures as often, or receive as much coverage from Codex Equus researchers. This is justified as he is busy fixing the Dream realms that were ravaged by the Abyssal Ones, as well as training his Lovecraftian Superpowers, and he is also concerned about potentially driving peope mad with his mere presence.
  • Horrible Judge of Character: Deconstructed. While generally empathetic towards people's suffering and wanting to help them out, one of his flaws is that he can be judgmental at times. Due to a combination of bad first impressions and unrequited love for his then-wife, Velvet Heart, he saw Moon Ray as a Jerkass with no redeeming traits, completely ignoring whatever issues Moon Ray was suffering from at the time. On Pillow Talk/Dulce's advice, he has a heart-to-heart with Moon Ray and realizes he let his own desires and biases poison his views of the latter. After apologizing and reconciling with Moon Ray, he gives him his genuine blessing to resume dating Velvet Heart, having accepted that his romantic love for Velvet Heart will never be reciprocated. Presently, he makes a point to defy this because people are often more complex than they seem and could be nursing deep pains that they don't want others to see.
Tranquil Dream: dOn'T jUdGe A bOoK bY iTs CoVeR - yOu NeVeR kNoW iF tHe CrEaTuRe NeXt To YoU iS gOiNg ThRoUgH tHe SaMe TrAgEdIeS aNd HaRdShIpS aS yOu ArE.
  • Immortality Begins at Twenty: Subverted; while immortal, deities in the Codexverse still "grow" by getting more powerful and eldritch as they age. Tranquil Dream is filed under the divine rank of "Tier III", making one of the younger gods chronologically, but because he Ascended by assimilating an Abyssal One, physically he is a full-on divine Eldritch Abomination whose true form is so incomprehensible that people are driven mad from even looking at him. His entry lists his true divine age as "???", as it is under speculation in-universe.
  • Incompatible Orientation: This is mostly why he and his first wife, Velvet Heart, were a Chastity Couple. He is heterosexual and grew to love Velvet Heart romantically, whereas Velvet Heart is demisexual and only saw her husband as a close friend because she had eyes only for Moon Ray. This ends up being deconstructed and played for drama as being unable to have his desires reciprocated frustrated him, factoring into his envious resentment of Moon Ray himself as he felt Moon Ray was a Jerkass who didn't deserve Velvet Heart. Once he actually gets to know Moon Ray, he realizes he was treating the latter unfairly and and apologizes, later giving Moon Ray his genuine blessing to pursue Velvet Heart again.
  • Irony: He is essentially a walking contradiction. While he's presently an eldritch god of Dreams and Mind who can drive people mad if he chooses to, he also embodies Tranquility, which gives him the power to calm minds, and works as both a yoga instructor and a dream therapist — the complete opposite of what eldritch gods usually do. Then there's how he became an eldritch god — he defied an Abyssal One's attempts to corrupt him after it possessed him, and overpowered it to the point where he was able to assimilate the Abyssal One into himself, leading to his Ascension.
  • I Should Have Been Better: Part of why he retreated from the world is because he felt guilty for what he perceived as his failure to save the Third Age from the calamities that ended it. Fortunately, he was found by Somarenus and his loved ones, who all helped him accept that despite everything, he still did everything he could to help save lives.
  • I Want My Beloved to Be Happy: Despite marrying Velvet Heart first, he knew Moon Ray was her First Love and simply wanted his wife to be happy, helping her with her grief and generally being her main source of emotional support. However, it's deconstructed — over time he came to love Velvet Heart romantically, but his affections weren't returned because his wife was not only loyal to Moon Ray, but was also demisexual. His feelings became more complicated when he met Moon Ray for the first time and had the misfortune of seeing his worst flaws first, making him feel Entitled to Have You under the belief that Velvet Heart fell in love with a Jerkass who doesn't deserve her love. It's later reconstructed when, thanks to Pillow Talk/Dulce, he gets to know Moon Ray as a person and realizes he let his own desires and biases poison his view of Moon Ray, prompting him to apologize for how he treated him. He genuinely gives Moon Ray his blessing to go date Velvet Heart again, pointing out the latter deserved her after everything he went through, and eventually found true love himself in his Second Love, Lily Lightly.
  • Jerkass Realization: He was initially contemptuous of Moon Ray, seeing him as a Jerkass who doesn't deserve Velvet Heart's love based on a very bad impression he developed after seeing Moon Ray's worst flaws first-hoof. Once they talk things out, he discovers that Moon Ray is not so bad and realizes that he let his own desires and biases poison his views of the latter — especially since Moon Ray was suffering from deep-seated PTSD that he desperately needed help with. He apologizes to Moon Ray for treating him badly and reconciles with him, giving Moon Ray his blessing to pursue Velvet Heart and helping him with whatever psychological issues he had.
  • Jerkass to One: Deconstructed. His jealousy over Velvet Heart not reciprocating his romantic feelings, combined with developing a very bad impression of Moon Ray when they first met, caused him to see Moon Ray as a Jerkass with no redeeming traits whatsoever. The only reason why he doesn't act on his feelings is because he didn't want to ruin Velvet Heart's happiness no matter how much it pained him. However, his self-inflicted Emotion Suppression catches the attention of Pillow Talk/Dulce when it starts affecting his dreams, and she advises him to simply talk things out with Moon Ray. Once he does, he discovers that he and Moon Ray are more alike than he previously thought, and realizes he was wrong to judge and treat Moon Ray the way he did — especially when Moon Ray was suffering from PTSD and felt guilty for "stealing" Velvet Heart away because of the mistreatment. He apologizes to Moon Ray for his behavior, gives the latter his blessing to pursue Velvet Heart, and helps him with his deep-seated issues.
  • Karmic Jackpot:
    • Despite his overwhelming guilt, Tranquil Dream's role in exposing his corrupt yoga instructor nonetheless caught the attention of Queen Pillow Talk/Dulce, who noticed how his guilt was affecting his dreams and helped him overcome it, taking him in as one of her students. This later inspired him to become a yoga instructor.
    • During the Third Age, Tranquil Dream came across a young Lily Lightly, who was suffering from low self-esteem issues involving her glowing horn and ended up getting lost in a forest after running away from Unicornia. He helped Lily with her issues, guiding her friends Brights Brightly and the Third Age's Rarity so they could help Lily see that her friends and neighbors had completely accepted her for who she is. This not only gave Lily a much-needed confidence boost, but also led to her and Tranquil Dream becoming friends, lovers, and eventually a married couple.
    • In the "Abyssal Wars", Tranquil Dream risked his own life to save both a weakened Pillow Talk/Dulce and the Dream realms from the Abyssal Ones by letting one, Cthadr'mag, possess him before overpowering and assimilating Cthadr'mag via sheer force of will. Like Endless Dreams, he Ascended to eldritch godhood because of his incredible feat, and he is later Happily Adopted by a sympathetic Somarenus, the Sleep Primeval, which finally gave him a proper father-figure after his biological father abandoned him as a colt.
    • After his eldritch Ascension and adoption, Tranquil Dream would invoke this trope with Pillow Talk/Dulce herself, helping her overcome her grief from losing the Third Age just as she helped him overcome his in the Second Age.
  • Light 'em Up: Being an eldritch god who is partially composed of light, he can control light in various ways. It's noted he has this ability to make up for the lack of combined tribal magics he would have gotten if he became an Alicorn instead.
  • Light Is Good: Part of his true divine form is composed of lights, and he has both glowing eyes and a magnificent Holy Halo made of light. He can also manipulate light in various ways to make up for not being an Alicorn, and is a friendly and compassionate stallion who wants to help people overcome their anxieties (and other psychological issues) so they can have a good night's sleep.
  • Loss of Identity: Since becoming an eldritch god, he developed the fear of one day losing his own identity and becoming another mindless, insanity-inducing eldritch horror, much like the Abyssal Ones. Fortunately, he is receiving support and therapy for this.
  • Lovecraftian Superpower: He is presently an eldritch god who embodies Dreams and Mind, concepts that which, on paper, seem harmless and even benevolent. However, because of his very nature, his powers are both strong and eldritch enough that he can corrupt the dreams and minds of anyone he chooses — including other eldritch beings. He is also similar to his adoptive father, Somarenus, in that he is connected to both the Dream and mental worlds, enhancing his powers to such a degree that he can do what others with his domains can on a much grander scale. Even his domain of Tranquility is eldritch to an extent, as he has limited time magic that let slow down attacks and create pocket areas where time is stopped completely. Fortunately, he is such a Nice Guy that he uses his domains to help people overcome their anxieties and other psychological issues, and it's noted that his domains also make him a hard counter for those who act like traditional Eldritch Abominations like the Abyssal Ones.
  • Magic Hair: His "default" divine form has a beard, mane, and tail composed of sky-blue cloud-like Tranquility energy with pink gradients. His true divine form, on the other hand, is much harder to describe.
  • The Magnificent: Known as "the Healer of Dreams", due to being both a yoga instructor and dream therapist who helps people overcome their issues so they can have good dreams and a good night's sleep.
  • Make Some Noise: Being an eldritch god who is partially composed of sounds, he can control sound in various ways. It's noted he has this ability to make up for the lack of combined tribal magics he would have gotten if he became an Alicorn instead.
  • Marriage of Convenience: His marriage to Velvet Heart was this. While they were very close, Velvet Heart only married him so she could receive help in recovering from her grief and pain over Moon Ray's sudden death (among other things), and thus regarded him as a friend. However, despite understanding Velvet Heart's situation, he grew to love her romantically, and not having his feelings reciprocated frustrated him. This ends up fueling his antagonistic relationship with Moon Ray himself as he felt [[Entitled to Have You only he deserved Velvet Heart's love and not Moon Ray. Once he has a heart-to-heart with Moon Ray on Pillow Talk/Dulce's advice, he realizes his mistake in misjudging Moon Ray, and lets the latter pursue Velvet Heart once more.
  • Meditation Powerup: As a god of Tranquility, he can meditate to heal himself as well as empower himself based on how calm he is.
  • Mind over Matter: One of his Psychic Powers is psychic telekinesis. Ascending to eldritch godhood and becoming a god of Mind vastly boosted his power to the point where he rivaled or surpassed a post-re-Ascension Moon Ray.
  • Momma's Boy: Because his father abandoned him when he was young, he has a much closer relationship with his mother. His Greed and ambition in his early years were largely motivated by his desire to give his mother, who was often stressed and overworked trying to raise him by himself, a comfortable and easy life. His mental breakdown as a direct consequence of stressful work conditions and his own stubbornness left him feeling like he failed his mother, even though she was very understanding and appreciative of his efforts.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: While having a heart-to-heart with Moon Ray, he realizes that he had misjudged the latter severely, having let his own biases and desires paint Moon Ray as a complete Jerkass based on a very bad first impression he developed from their first encounter. He apologizes to Moon Ray for treating him that way, and when Moon Ray apologizes for "stealing" Velvet Heart away, he assures him that he didn't and gives Moon Ray his blessing to pursue her, having accepted that Velvet Heart will always love Moon Ray no matter what.
  • Mystical Lotus: His Cutie Mark is a pink lotus flower in full bloom, resting on a pool of water. He is presently an eldritch god who happens to work as a yoga instructor who mixes dream therapy into his profession, and embodies positive concepts like Dreams, Tranquility, and Mind, with certain powers that allow him to counter anything that messes with one's dreams and minds — including the mind-warping powers and influences of other eldritch beings. Quite fittingly, his true divine form appears as either a living sunrise or the birth of a dream, adding to the overall mysticism and spirituality of his nature.
  • Nature Lover: His entry notes that he loves nature walks.
  • New-Age Retro Hippie: While not explicitly stated to be a hippie, he does have a few of their traits like having a long, curly mane and tail (and beard), wearing colorful bandanas and a peace sign necklace, and desiring to spread tranquility (whether physical, mental, emotional, and/or spiritual) to others. He also works as a yoga instructor and dream therapist, and is presently an eldritch god who embodies Dreams, Tranquility, and Mind, all which relate to New Age spirituality.
  • Nice Guy: While he does have flaws, he is generally a compassionate and friendly stallion who desires to help others achieve tranquility, whether through yoga or dream therapy, so they can have a good night's sleep. He also believes in forgiveness and mercy, and notably helped villains and criminals because many of them were simply hurt, desperate people. This did not change after he Ascended to eldritch godhood, only becoming more empathetic and philosophical thanks to Somarenus' constructive guidance.
  • Nightmare Weaver: As a god of Dreams, he can create and/or alter nightmares. His magical connection to the Dream world itself makes his powers far stronger in this regard.
  • No-Sell: As a god of Tranquility and Mind, he is immune (or at least incredibly resistant) to spells, artifacts, and other things that could affect or disrupt the mind. This ironically makes him a living counter to eldritch beings in general as he could resist their maddening influences and help others do the same.
  • Our Angels Are Different: He was a mortal Earth Pony who later got transformed into an Angel of Dreams, having chosen to work under his mentor, Pillow Talk/Dulce, and help others at a greater capacity.
  • Our Gods Are Different: He is an "Ascendant" deity, the rarest of the three main types of deities in the Codexverse, because he was a mortal Earth Pony who Ascended all the way to true godhood. He is also an eldritch god, having become one by overpowering and assimilating an Abyssal One into himself during the "Abyssal Wars", though he is completely benevolent like Dr. Endless Dreams. He also gets Stronger with Age as all deities in the Codexverse do, as divine biology is completely different from mortal biology.
  • Parents as People: He can be selfish, judgemental, and impulsive, and tends to bottle up his feelings for the sake of others. He was also rather materialistic and greedy in his youth, and he has some anger issues over his birth father's abandonment. After becoming an eldritch god, he became alien, incomprehensible, and somewhat insane. Despite this, he remained a loving husband and father to his family, and sired many children and descendants with his wife, Lily Lightly.
  • Personality Powers: Despite being an eldritch god, he embodies Dreams, Tranquility, and Mind, all which relate to his desire to calm people's anxieties and heal their minds so they can have a good night's sleep. In addition, his domains also stem from his desire to protect people from going through the same conditions that led to his mental breakdown in his mortal youth, making him a hard counter to malicious eldritch beings and deities like the Abyssal Ones he fought in the Third Age.
  • Point of Divergence: He wouldn't have met or married Velvet Heart if her fiancĂ©, Moon Ray Vaughoof, had not died suddenly in a helicopter accident. Then again, things would have turned out quite differently if Velvet Heart chose to return his romantic affections.
  • Psychic Powers: He has natural psychic powers like telepathy, empathy, psychic telekinesis, teleportation, and others thanks to Pillow Talk/Dulce's tutelage, which awoke his psychic capabilities along with his tribal magics. His Eldritch Transformation in the Third Age's "Abyssal Wars", along with his domain of Mind, increased his psychic power so much that he presently either rivals or surpasses Moon Ray, himself a psychic prodigy, in terms of psychic strength — especially after Moon Ray re-Ascended.
  • Psychic Teleportation: One of his Psychic Powers is teleportation. Ascending to eldritch godhood and becoming a god of Mind vastly boosted his power to the point where he rivaled or surpassed a post-re-Ascension Moon Ray.
  • Purple Is Powerful: He had purple fur prior to his Ascension, and presently he's an eldritch god of incomprehensible power. It's noted that because he is magically connected to both the Dream and mental worlds, he is capable of far more than what a typical deity with his domains would be able to do, and his Psychic Powers likely rival or even surpass Moon Ray, himself a psychic prodigy, in terms of strength. He also got this way because he overcame and assimilated an Abyssal One (whose kind are likely millions or billions of years old) through sheer willpower, something that was previously done only by the mortal Dr. Endless Dreams.
  • Quirky Curls: He had a long, curly sky-blue mane and tail, which he kept in his "default" divine form, though his true divine form is hard to describe. He's also presently an eldritch god who is somewhat insane like Endless Dreams, though his more alien behaviors are kept in check by his incredibly strong will, his domain of Tranquility, and Somarenus' constructive guidance. It's also debatable if he's genuinely insane or his Eldritch Transformation just makes him see and understand things that others normally can't.
  • Reality Warper: Because he is an eldritch god of Dreams who is magically connected to the Dream world itself, he can do dream-based reality-warping on a grander scale, affecting the dreams of even eldritch beings if he chose to.
  • The Redeemer: Much like the Redeeming Six which he is an honorary member of, he believes in dispensing forgiveness and mercy, having made huge mistakes himself. He notably helped even villains and criminals achieve tranquility as many of them were simply traumatized, desperate people hurt by an uncaring world.
  • Redeeming Replacement: His former yoga instructor was a sexual predator who molested female clients. After exposing said yoga instructor and his crimes, he would later become a yoga instructor himself and became a highly popular one due to avoiding his predecessor's mistakes. This continued long after the Second Age ended and he Ascended to eldritch godhood.
  • Second Love:
    • While he is Velvet Heart's first husband, Tranquil Dream is actually her second love, having married her following the sudden, tragic death of Velvet Heart's then-fiancĂ©, Moon Ray Vaughoof. Tranquil Dream knew Velvet Heart's only true love is Moon Ray and willingly became a Chastity Couple with her as a show of support, but deep down he romantically loved Velvet Heart and was frustrated with her over loving someone else — especially after seeing Moon Ray's worst flaws during their first encounter and developing a bad impression of his wife's First Love. Eventually, thanks to Pillow Talk/Dulce, he comes to realize his desires and biases were poisoning his views of Moon Ray, pushing him to apologize to the latter and give Moon Ray his blessing to date Velvet Heart again.
    • In a roundabout way, Tranquil Dream eventually found his true second love in Lily Lightly, a Unicorn mare from the Third Age kingdom of Unicornia. After helping Lily accept her glowing horn and become more self-confident, he became friends with her. They eventually fell in love and got married; their relationship evolved to Eternal Love when Lily Ascended to godhood so she could be with her husband, and Tranquil Dream himself Ascended to eldritch godhood during the "Abyssal Wars" trying to protect the Dream world from the Abyssal Ones.
  • Secretly Selfish: Deconstructed. While he genuinely loved Velvet Heart and cared for her, he began developing the hope that she would eventually reciprocate his feelings romantically. This later influenced his resentment of Moon Ray, whom he believed was a Jerkass who doesn't deserve Velvet Heart's love. However, he eventually talks with Moon Ray personally on Pillow Talk/Dulce's advice, and realizes that he was wrong to let his own desires and biases poison his view of someone who turned out to be a good guy and was suffering from various unaddressed psychological ailments. He lets his desires go, apologizes to Moon Ray for his antagonistic behavior, and lets the latter be with Velvet Heart again.
  • A Shared Suffering:
    • He befriended both Fret Pick and Prince Knight Shade over having absentee, deadbeat fathers.
    • He also sympathizes with those who suffers psychological breakdowns as he went through one himself, so he knows how terrible it feels to go through that.
  • The Shrink: An "Awesome Shrink" example. He's a certified yoga instructor as well as a dream therapist, and he combines both jobs to help people reach physical, mental, and emotional tranquility. Unlike the corrupt yoga instructor he previously learned from, he genuinely wants to help others because he went through a mental breakdown in his mortal youth, and wants to prevent others from going through the same experience. This never changes even after becoming an eldritch god, and he helped revive yoga in the Fourth Age.
  • Telepathy: One of his Psychic Powers is telepathy. Ascending to eldritch godhood and becoming a god of Mind vastly boosted his power to the point where he rivaled or surpassed a post-re-Ascension Moon Ray.
  • Time Master: As a god of Tranquility, he has limited time powers, slowing down time and creating areas where time is stopped completely, allowing people to rest and calm themselves.
  • Took a Level in Badass: He was originally an unawakened Earth Pony until he met Queen Pillow Talk/Dulce, after which he not only gained Dream magic, but also awakened his tribal magic and natural Psychic Powers. Later in the Third Age, he became an Angel of Dreams, having chose to work directly under Pillow Talk/Dulce so he could help others at a greater capacity. Then he participated in the "Abyssal Wars", during which he assimilated an Abyssal One, Cthadr'mag, into himself and transformed into an eldritch god just to save both his mentor and the Dream world itself.
  • Took a Level in Jerkass: While he genuinely loved Velvet Heart and did everything to support her, he secretly grew frustrated with how Velvet Heart saw him as just a friend because she had eyes only for Moon Ray. Then he encountered Moon Ray for the first time during the "Big Comeback Tour" event and saw the latter's worst flaws for himself, convincing him that Moon Ray was a complete Jerkass who didn't deserve Velvet Heart's love. But following a heart-to-heart, he learns why Moon Ray acted the way he did and realizes he let his own desires and biases poison his view of the latter, even dismissing how much pain Moon Ray was in at the time. With this epiphany, he Took a Level in Kindness.
  • Took a Level in Kindness: After a personal heart-to-heart with Moon Ray, he realizes that he let his own desires and biases poison his views of the latter to the point of being judgmental and ignoring Moon Ray's psychological pain. He apologizes to Moon Ray for his Jerkass behavior, and genuinely gave him his blessing to date Velvet Heart again, having recognized Velvet Heart would always love Moon Ray. This not only heals his mental state, but also made him much more empathetic to others, and emphasizes the importance of not judging people by appearances.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: He loves eating seafood, as he is fascinated by various sea creatures' unique designs.
  • Unskilled, but Strong: One of his major weaknesses as an Ascendant eldritch god is his inexperience; in the days following his Ascension, he had an extremely hard time controlling his powers, leading to incidents where he accidentally influenced physical reality with his dreams. Thankfully, being adopted by Somarenus alleviated this problem as he gained a proper teacher, but it can still hamper him at times.
  • Upbringing Makes the Hero: His mother sacrificed everything to raise him right after his father walked out on them both, even though it left her stressed and overworked. While his foalhood wasn't the best, his mother nonetheless gave him a proper moral compass that would influence his development and choices as a stallion for years to come.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: He was among Velvet Heart's associates and loved ones who called her out for emotion-bombing Sunny Field in revenge for his past abuse, as he was genuinely trying to atone for his actions and Velvet Heart's actions also hurt Moon Ray by proxy because of the brothers' Psychic Link. However, he would also Velvet Heart see the error of her ways and reconcile with Moon Ray, who had broken up with her because of her attempted emotion-bombing.
  • What Have I Become?: While his assimilation of Cthadr'mag, an Abyssal One, let him Ascend to godhood and gave him the power needed to beat back the other Abyssal Ones, his Eldritch Transformation was so traumatic for him that it partially factored into his decision to retreat from the world entirely. Fortunately, he would be found by Somarenus as well as his family and friends, and they all helped him overcome his grief regarding his situation.
  • You Cannot Grasp the True Form: Because he Ascended to godhood by overpowering and assimilating an Abyssal One, his true divine form is so incomprehensible that even his mere presence can induce insanity. Part of the reason why he never took part in the Redeeming Six's adventures despite being an honorary member is because he was concerned about potentially driving them (and others) mad. However, his eldritch influence can be countered through sheer force of will like what he did with Cthadr'mag prior to his Ascension.

Dream Beauties

    General
  • Divine Parentage: All of them are daughters of Pillow Talk/Dulce, created by her with Dream magic prior to her marriage to Quarterback.
  • Related in the Adaptation: All of the Dream Beauties are related to Pillow Talk (now Queen Dulce Somnii Paradise) via her being their Truly Single Parent who created them all entirely from Dream magic. In G1 canon, they weren't related to each other at all.
  • Xenafication: The Dream Beauties toyline was created by Hasbro to make a more realistic version of their My Little Pony toys. Here, the Dream Beauties are depicted as divine daughters of Pillow Talk/Dulce, who created all of them entirely via Dream magic.
