Foreigner Invasions are nothing to scoff at, so when a Mysterious Heroine appears to save the day, the day is saved! But what about the next day? And the day after? - Title description from Space Battles

Avenging Class is a crossover between the Marvel Cinematic Universe and Fate/Grand Order where in Mysterious Heroine XX makes a wrong turn through the Kaleidoscope on her way to a Foreigner incursion, and winds up arriving on Earth during the Chitauri attack at the climax of The Avengers and helps in the final battle. However, in the followup, she finds that she is now trapped in that Universe and decides to stick around for a while for her own reasons.

The story is being written and published on Space Battles, and incorporates not only the Movies, but also expands into some comic sources as well, as the author has admitted that limiting himself to just the movies would make for a bad story.

This Fanfiction contains the following Tropes:

  • 100% Heroism Rating: Steve Rogers suggests that this is MHXX's role on the Avengers, as her default heroics work to help assure the public that they are not a threat, but help.
  • Ace Pilot: From motorcycles to Helicarriers, true to MHXX's skills in Fate Grand Order.
  • Adaptational Badass: In the MCU, Quicksilver was a speedster who nonetheless ends up dying to normal gunfire during his debut movie. In this story, he has speed surpassing that of MHXX's and is able to fight her, a Servant, to a standstill, who is admittedly holding back her strength to avoid destroying the city. He badly damages Avalon, manages to invoke a what appears to be a Noble Phantasm using Loki's scepter, and lands what would have otherwise been a fatal blow on her. While he dies to her nonetheless, he put up more of a fight compared to his MCU counterpart. Justified, in that he was wielding Loki's scepter, in which the Mind Stone is contained.
  • Adaptational Heroism:
    • Due to not meeting and going on an adventure with Steven Strange that leaves him disillusioned, Karl Mordo joins the Avengers instead of becoming a magic-sucking villain.
    • The SHIELD branch of HYDRA ultimately decides to go clean after an attempt on Pierce's life by Armin Zola. They wind up dragging along the other sane sub-groups along with them, eventually allowing the organization to go public as a neutral faction.
    • Helmut Zemo is on good terms with the Avengers as Sokovia is never attacked by Ultron, who hasn't been created yet in this story, and his family are still alive.
    • To a lesser extent, John Jonah Jameson is portrayed as more like (the nicer incarnations of) his comics counterpart as an honest journalist, rather than his canon MCU portrayal as an Alex Jones Expy.
  • Adaptation-Induced Plot Hole:
    • This story introduced Elijah and Isaiah Bradley before The Falcon and the Winter Soldier debuted, leading to the former being aged up several years, and the latter currently not seen. The Author has admitted to this, and is planning on addressing it in-story.
    • The reveal of the basic plot behind Loki (2021) left the author needing to explain that the TVA attempted to "fix" history after MHXX arrived, only to completely fail against her and Rhon. They now take a hands-off approach to this timeline.
  • All Girls Like Ponies: After finding out that MHXX and Rebecca Amadio had horses while younger, Natasha Romanov laments that she wanted one herself. MHXX's attempt to put a Shetland Pony into her office was nixed by Director Fury, and someone instead gave her a giant stuffed purple pony instead.
  • Alternate Self:
    • The Ancient One is the MCU's version of Scathach.
    • Quetzalcoatl and Jaguar Warrior are a man and a young boy in this world, but MHXX can sense similarities between them and the Servants she knows. Quetzalcoatl gets weirded out when MHXX says another version of him is female and obsessed with Lucha Libre.
  • Always Second Best: MHXX considers herself this and clearly points out she's not the fastest (Quicksilver), the smartest (Tony Stark), the most Charismatic (Steve Rogers), or the strongest (Hercules), but is countered by Hawkeye that she's pretty much in the top five for almost all of those categories.
  • Befriending the Enemy: MHXX holds this to be a normal turn of events, to the point where she assumes that some people who are currently foes will be friends after the current arc.
  • Berserk Button: MHXX has a whole list of them, and most of the time the people around her know enough to not step on them. However, Tony Stark implying she can lift Mjolnir due to being able to do the same with Caliburn is completely true, but it still sets her off as she wants to avoid being cast in the same light as King Arthur. The reveal that Jane Foster is a Foreigner to her senses after the events of the Dark World is seen coming by everyone involved, and was addressed as soon as it happened.
  • Biting-the-Hand Humor: Thanks to her Fourth Wall Awareness, MHXX will occasionally complain about the writer of the story she is in and how the plot is progressing - or not. The author has admitted this is a form of Self-Deprecation as he writes.
  • Blue-and-Orange Morality: As befitting her status as a Servant and as a Foreigner, MHXX really doesn't get Marvel Humanity. A lot of characters, including herself, know this and accept that while she tries to fit in, it isn't something that comes naturally and she will appear insane or just plain crazy to people who haven't gotten used to her. For example, Sam Wilson thinks she might have some degree of ADHD in place of knowing the truth.
  • Boxing Lessons for Superman: MHXX is very powerful, but she usually hovers in place to fire her weapons as she can't aim while flying. When James Rhodes notices this, he puts her in a flight school to teach her how to strafe.
  • Brutal Brawl: The fight between ArtiE and Selene Gallio in the Hellfire Club is this as over the course of two chapters, they destroy multiple rooms, walls, floors and a lot of things between before the whole building comes down on them from the sheer destructive force they were putting out.
  • The Cameo: A few here and there, but including:
    • Captain Dahl of Air Force Blues and Captain Fox McCloud of Star Fox Team as part of the Air Force training Arc.
    • Major Grom of the Soviet mystery comics of the same name is a member of the Red Guard.
    • Noa Schaefer of Pound the Table is Peter Parker's legal representative after he is taken into custody, and the author of that fic provided legal clarification for that event.
  • Celebrating the Heroes: When MHXX return to Sokovia, the people celebrates her arrival and had built a statue of her in gratitude for saving Novi Grad from Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch.
  • Character Development: This is the crux of the story, as MHXX finds herself in a place that makes no sense and has to adapt and face her own past in a way that she just can't ignore. The journey is not easy or quick.
    • Quite tellingly, her inability to get past being something of an Extreme Doormat when surprised or taken off guard by others in a position of authority (real or perceived) has caused some division in the readership. The author has attempted to defend this by making it a Fatal Flaw of the character. YMMV on this subject.
    • This reaches a break-point in the story, when after The Thing, MHXX's experiences as a Saber cause her to break out of her Foreigner Class and into the more Pretty Princess Powerhouse themed Alter Ego class.
  • Charm Person: One of the more direct uses of MHXX Charisma Skill is this, where she focuses on a person and they do as she asks or commands them. However, she is well aware of the limitations of this, and refrains from using it when its simply convenient. That Steve Rogers can do the same thing as The Charmer without magic or supernatural abilities is commented on, and in-universe, the only people who have stood up to the two of them working together have been Nick Fury and J. Jonah Jameson.
  • Comically Invincible Hero: Due to scale differences, MHXX is usually this, as her response to most threats can be best described as boredom. However, she doesn't let this get in the way of other people making an effort, and when she does face a threat that can harm her, she takes them deadly seriously.
  • Commonality Connection: Mordred and MHXX both live in the shadow of King Arthur, and form a sort of familial bond over their shared lineage. And for trash talking the other Knights of the Round Table.
  • Consummate Professional: Sure, MHXX may be slightly crazy by the standards of the MCU, but once she has to deal with the Infinity Stones or any other Eldritch Abomination, she becomes this Trope. SHIELD Agents are this normally.
  • Contractual Genre Blindness: In universe, this is one of the more aggravating aspects to MHXX's personality in the view of some of the people who work with her. Namely, it is her consistent decision making process about what would make a good story and acting upon that, rather than in solving the problem. For example, during the Hydra Civil War, she tells Nick Fury to his face that she'll let the Winter Soldier get to the Helicarriers just to provide a suitable backdrop for his Fighting Your Friend showdown with Captain Rogers.
  • "Could Have Avoided This!" Plot: MHXX goes to Wakanda in order to speak with the agricultural minister who pulled his son out of college because of said son's interactions with Mordred, only to get into conflict with the Dora Milaje and the Black Panther. The Wakandian royal party pointed she could have just visited Wakanda's embassy to get the minister's contact information, especially since said minister wasn't in Wakanda, but in London negotiating food export deals.
  • Create Your Own Villain: Quicksilver's death at the hands of MHXX drives Wanda to join forces with Thanos to help his cause in return for helping in her revenge against her brother's killer.
  • Crouching Moron, Hidden Badass: To the unaware, Artoria Pendragon is a five-foot nothing Welsh woman with an inability to focus and is suggested by Natasha Romanov to be the Welsh equivalent of a Valley Girl who could be lifted by any grown person over their shoulder and carried away without any trouble. They are wrong.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: As befitting her status as a Servant, MHXX deals these out quite regularly. When she doesn't, it's either because she's holding back for other reasons, or because the enemy is a match even for her, such as with her encounters with the Dark Wraiths or Ebony Maw.
  • Cut Lex Luthor a Check: Not directly invoked, but with fewer super-villains in the world, people are looking for legal means to use their powers or inventions. Tony Stark is attempting to market Iron Man drones as Search and Rescue equipment, and multiple people point out that Peter Parker can earn a lot of money off his webbing.
  • Death by Adaptation: Maria Hill is killed by Hydra forces during The Winter Soldier. This is hidden from most of the cast by Fury replacing her with a loyal Skrull, Soren who is the wife of Talos.
  • Defeat Means Friendship: After being soundly beaten by MHXX, Prince T'Challa has decided that being her friend is the better option. That this gives him access to SHIELD and the Avengers is a bonus.
  • Deliberate Values Dissonance: Used by the author to highlight just how alien MHXX can be with how she treats people and events.
  • Did You Just Scam Cthulhu?: One interpretation of MHXX's Deal with the Devil with Dormammu. Or, from the comments made in story and out, how Dormammu scammed MHXX into leaving the Dark Dimension.
  • Dies Differently in Adaptation: Quicksilver dies in battle against MHXX with Loki's Scepter drove through his heart.
  • Dimensional Traveler: Peter Parker and Doctor Olivia Octavius are accidentally brought to Earth-616 when the latter's extradimensional device inadvertently interacted with a device made by Earth-616 Reed Richards. They stayed for a brief while in which the younger Peter spends his time with the older Spider-Man until they returned to their home universe.
  • Doesn't Know Their Own Birthday: As MHXX is from a completely different universe, she can't apply her native dating scheme to the MCU. So when she's forced to fill out paperwork by SHIELD she just puts down the date of her arrival as her birthday, and forgets about it until three years later.
  • Do Not Call Me "Paul": When Morgaine and the Ancient One meet, Morgaine recognizes her and starts to call her Scathach, but the Ancient One tells her not to use that name.
  • The Dreaded: The Winter Soldier is shown as one of these, especially when he's paired up with Captain Rogers. In addition, MHXX is one to HYDRA, the Kree and possibly other cosmic entities who openly tell their people to not engage her in battle. On the flip side, MHXX considers Hercules and Ghost Rider to be this to her despite their heroic nature.
  • Drives Like Crazy: Whenever MHXX drives a car, she goes at ludicrous speeds and swerves all over the place. She claims she is an awesome driver because she never crashes, but anyone who rides with her gets rattled. Her driving skills eventually got her banned from Los Angeles after she raced against Ghost Rider.
  • Entertainingly Wrong: Everything involving MHXX can be this, thanks to the Culture Clash involved. The Hydra threat assessment of her proves to be this in spades as well.
  • Epic Ship-on-Ship Action: The Duel of the Potomac. This story's version of The Winter Soldier has the two Insight Helicarriers, one captained by MHXX (Dun Stallion III) and the other by Arnim Zola, duking it out on each other in which MHXX's wins (as Zola couldn't override the safeties on his vessel's heavier weapons) and pushing Zola's Helicarrier from crashing into the Triskelion.
  • Everyone Has Standards: General Ross doesn't agreed with Bolivar Trask and Bob Kelly's anti-superhuman policy.
Pepper: "And why are you coming to us?"
General Ross: "Because I laughed at them. They are so far up their asses that they can't see the world. Much as I know that man is a danger to everyone around him, you've (Artie) respected that threat even as you let him out for his dog and pony show."
  • Fantastic Caste System: By the way MHXX describes the Servant Class system, this is how the MCU characters see her society. With Sabers at the top and the rest of the pecking order not quite filled in from their perspective.
  • For Want Of A Nail: Needless to say, MHXX's presence has several ripple effects on the post-The Avengers events. There's the heroes being introduced to the existence of magic earlier thanks to Mordo joining the team. Then there's other countries forming their own superpowered teams. Then there are the bigger ripples with Thor's mother still being alive after the events of Thor: The Dark World and the story arc based on Captain America: The Winter Soldier becoming a Hydra civil war.
  • Future Me Scares Me: Much of MHXX character arc comes from her attempts to avoid becoming the Servant Universe version of King Arthur. And because of that, one of her fears is that You Can't Fight Fate.
  • Genre Savvy: Once MHXX gets set straight about what type of universe she's in, she's more than willing to play the rules to her advantage. And complain when reality doesn't match up.
  • Godzilla Threshold: The World Security Council authorized MHXX to use her Lance to destroy Ego's biomass in St. Charles.
  • Grew Beyond Their Programming: Invoked by MHXX on JARVIS as she at no point thinks of him any less for being an artificial intelligence and is often the first defender of his growing sapience and self-direction, even clashing with Tony Stark on occasion over this subject.
  • Hard-Coded Hostility: MHXX has this towards (other) Foreigners and (other) Saberfaces, which becomes a small problem when Jane Foster becomes the temporary host of the Aether. She slowly grows out of this by mostly moving Jane and Mordred into the mental box of being a victim of their status, and not a cause of it.
  • Heel–Face Turn:
    • Mordred and Morgaine le Fey both have this as they realize that what they fought for in their previous life no longer exists or matters.
    • After the events of Iron Man 3, Rebecca Amadio, the Sweat Shop Agent, gets pardoned and joins the Avengers.
    • Alexander Pierce, Brock Rumlow, and most of Hydra inside of SHIELD undergo this as well as they were attacked in the Hydra Civil War, and threw their lot in with Steve Rogers and his allies. In the aftermath, many more Hydra sub-factions play ball, purging the radical elements and allowing the whole organization to go public.
  • Heroic RRoD: After 17 days of constantly working with no sleep and having turned Avalon off, MHXX collapses and requires treatment in Asgard.
  • Heroic Self-Deprecation: For all her accomplishments since coming to the MCU, MHXX still holds herself to deliberately impossible standards. This gets to the point where she actively sabotages herself because she seems to think that being heroic will bring her to closer to being King Arthur.
  • Hero of Another Story: Invoked by WoG with regards to other events in the MCU. MHXX will not be interacting with every possible plotline, and entire movies and TV series pass by without mention. And even then, lead characters have adventures and missions that get talked about in passing without elaboration, enforcing the idea that the universe has things that happen when ArtiE isn't around.
  • Horrible Judge of Character: MHXX falls into this when she's being Wrong Genre Savvy. Namely that Doctor Strange is evil due to his Goatee, while Victor von Doom is obviously a good guy.
  • Hyperactive Metabolism: Not only MHXX, but Captain Rogers and all Asgardians as well when compared to normal humans. It gets to the point where people normalize it and prepare accordingly.
  • I Never Told You My Name: When MHXX is a guest in Asgard, she refuses to reveal her name, but Frigga nonchalantly calls her Artoria Igrainesdottre, shocking her. Which is important as before then, MHXX didn't really have a conventional name, just a working alias for the paperwork.
  • In-Universe Nickname:
    • Darcy Lewis takes MHXX's pseudonym of Artoria Pendragon and shortens it to 'Artie'. This is picked up by pretty much everyone else who find her name and her pseudonym to be a mouthful. And by everyone else, this includes out-of-universe commentary on the story.
    • Brock Rumlow gets nicknamed "Babysitter" because of all the time he spends looking after the childish MHXX.
  • Insistent Terminology: Despite trying to break the habit, MHXX will peg people by their perceived Class as it's a convenient way for her to sort people out. She also, with only one exception, calls Pepper Pots "Lady Pepper."
  • I Owe You My Life: When Tony Stark sent the nuke through the portal, his armor failed and he would have died if MHXX did not carry him out. In gratitude, Stark and Pepper Potts give her a place to stay in Stark Tower.
  • Jerkass Has a Point: Rarely, Mordred will be correct about things, but a combination of his own Values Dissonance and that he's, well, Mordred make the message hard to swallow.
  • Leaning on the Fourth Wall:
    • MHXX is fully aware she's from a Gatcha Game, and acts accordingly, causing herself and others no end of trouble. However, it isn't until an encounter with Deadpool who sets her straight, that she realizes the actual nature of the universe she's in, changing her behaviors to match.
    • When the Avengers and their allies learned more about MHXX's universe and noting why she called their universe a "cinematic" one, some such as Falcon are left disturbed to believe their lives is predestined like a TV or movie script. But Victor von Doom passionately downplays that, arguing that everyone's choices and actions is not fixed by some grand architect of the universe:
Victor: "Our choices are our own, they must be our own. We are the tellers of our own stories, not the tellers of the stories of others. Let others watch us! I welcome that, for it means that our stories are the stories worth being told! We are the best of all possible versions, the ones that others shall look up to. And our choices will be the ones that matter in the end. No one else can take that from us."
  • Let Us Never Speak of This Again: When the Avengers eat shawarma and MHXX removes her helmet to eat, she tells them to never describe what she looks like to anyone. Not that this lasts though, as she eventually goes public with her face and a (fake) name during an interview with JJJ.
  • Limited Wardrobe: Having one is a sign of MHXX's odd cultural upbringing in the views of those around her, to the point where Darcy Lewis tried multiple times to get her to wear something different.
  • Lotus-Eater Machine: In the leadup to Chapter 300, the whole world is put into one of these, reminiscent of House of M and WandaVision. Which is deliberate by the author, as this was done by Wanda Maximoff.
  • Meaningful Rename:
    • Thanks to MHXX, Bruce Banner changes the name of his alter ego from Hulk to Berserker. Tony Stark points out in a press conference that contrary to popular culture, the Berserkers were not savages, but true warriors, so the name change makes sense as Banner and his alter ego are true Avengers.
    • MHXX's internal narration changes to Artie after her Class Change.
  • Mundane Luxury: Not material, but MHXX views being a White Collar Worker - or rather an Office Lady - to be a goal in life.
  • Mundane Utility: The Holy Lance Armor Avalon is a personal space ship, suit of magitech Power Armor with a Healing Factor and is considered to the most advanced piece of magic and technology on Earth, if not the universe. MHXX uses it to take notes in class thanks to the integrated Heads Up Dispay.
  • Mythology Gag: All over the place as the story not only draws from the comics, but also from the backstory of Fate Grand Order.
  • Named by the Adaptation: The Sweat Shop Agent is named Rebecca Amadio after her actress Rebecca Mader and stand-in Alexandra Amadio.
  • No Endor Holocaust: Averted for Ego's attempted assimilation of the galaxy depicted in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. Ego's biomass in St. Charles had caused 195 people injured and 60-70, and possibly more, fatalities, before MHXX destroyed its core. MHXX further revealed that 17 Kree worlds were affected by Ego's attack and two of which were received orbital bombardment to contain the biomass. The territories of the Nova Corps, including their capital planet Xandar, were also affected.
  • Noodle Incident: Occasional mentions of previous missions and adventures will happen without context or explanation, such as the encounter with the Mongolian Death Worms by the Avengers.
  • Odd Friendship: J. Jonah Jameson and MHXX form one. When pressed, the former says it's because she's honest with herself while the latter thinks it's because both of them only use a single letter in their name.
  • Oh, Crap!: Shows up a few times, but when Artie finds out she's being attacked by a Vampire, it's enough to have her take the fight seriously. As Vampires in Nasu are Serious Business, this is a natural response, moreso than Marvel Vampires.
  • Older Than They Look: MHXX has no idea how old she actually is thanks to the Servant Universe not having a calendar or even a sense of time that matches Marvel Earth. So when pressed, she puts down her birthday as the date she arrived on Earth, and her age as 22.
  • Omni Glot: One of MHXX's more practical uses of Avalon is the inbuilt translation device to speak pretty much any language. She often serves as the Avenger's translator when needed, and this extends to non-Earth languages as well. She has also complained she needed to pay to download a translation to speak Xhosa in Wakanda, and doesn't speak Plant - unlike Thor.
  • Once Done, Never Forgotten: MHXX has only invaded one nation, thank you. And as a result, Wakanda is coming out of its isolationism with the Wakanda Accords, this story's version of the Sokovia Accords.
  • Only Sane Man: This is Clint Barton's role in the story for the most part, something shared with Rebecca Amadio. Artie herself is one in the larger scheme of things, immediately picking up on the threats of the Infinity Stones and other cosmic events. MHXX also sees herself as this when it comes to objecting to her fake title as Princess of Asgard, thinking the joke has long since run its course, and no one wants to drop it.
  • Only the Chosen May Wield: True to the MCU, both Thor and Steve Rogers can pick up Mjolnir. However, MHXX can as well, which Tony theorizes as her being tied to the story of the Sword in the Stone, and that the two weapons share the same basic idea behind them requiring an aptitude for rulership to even pick up. This naturally hits her Berserk Button.
  • Outside-Context Problem: MHXX is a Servant, someone who is flatly superhuman in all ways. While she may not be the most powerful person in the story, how she acts and what she is capable of meet all the criteria of this trope.
  • Out of Focus: An interesting example. Lady Sif is initially given more focus, taking Thor's place in The Avengers. However, she slowly loses her focus in the story, not helped by Thor himself gaining more prominence.
  • Pec Flex: Quetzalcoatl and Hercules both have their comic-book physiques, and do this after a friendly weight lifting competition.
  • Persona Non Grata: The city of Los Angeles officially banned MHXX for breaking "traffic laws" after she raced against the Ghost Rider across the city.
  • Playing Sick: After MHXX ends up being stabbed through the chest during her fight with Quicksilver, she ends up hospitalized and later transferred to Wales for further treatment, even though she's perfectly fine by that point, in order to trick their enemies regarding her capabilities. Downplayed in that while she's fully recovered, Avalon isn't and requires time to repair itself.
  • Powerful and Helpless: MHXX and Sam Wilson have a discussion about racism where they sadly note that it is not a problem that can be solved just by beating people up.
  • Power Misidentification: After seeing MHXX expertly pilot her armor and several vehicles, several people assume she is a Technopath. She eventually clarifies it is due to her Riding and Piloting skills.
  • Pro-Human Transhuman: MHXX openly admits that she's post-Human as a Servant from the Future, but refuses to let that mean that Humanity has lost anything in the process, and vigorously defends the Human Order on their behalf.
  • Reluctant Fanservice Girl: MHXX eventually reaches her Second Ascension and becomes very embarrassed that her armor becomes skimpy. She gets over this with time.
  • Revolvers Are Just Better: When being checked out on a sidearm, this is MHXX's justification for her chosen weapon type.
  • Rule 63: This is inflicted on Mordred thanks to a hasty reincarnation spell by his mother. Thanks to MHXX being King Arthur, or close enough, the spell caused him to take the form of the Fate Grand Order Mordred. This is treated as a serious accident in universe, and while the character in question is certainly enjoying the advantages, they have also made it clear that they want to go back to normal.
  • Running Gag: A few. To whit:
    • Artoria Igrainesdottre, Princess of Asgard. In universe, everyone is sick of it, but can't stop because Asgard is using it to their advantage.
    • MHXX and Clint Barton have an ongoing feud about what is the better muffin, Chocolate or Banana. Even background extras weigh in on it, mostly to laugh at both of them.
    • "Hail Hydra!" being used as a casual greeting after Pierce and his Hydra branch within S.H.I.E.L.D. switched sides after Zola tried to eliminate them and everyone just roll with it.
  • Scare 'Em Straight: Played for Laughs. Bruce Banner does this to MHXX when he found out she was a high school dropout in the past and to make her take college Pepper Potts enrolled her into seriously. She comically freaked out how terrifying he is without turning green.
  • Shed Armor, Gain Speed: The official explanation for MHXX's Ascension is that she ditched the heavy armor plating for higher speed and maneuverability - in effect, being a Lightning Bruiser. In reality, she's still a Flying Brick, just leveled up.
  • Shout-Out: MHXX repeatedly reminds herself that she doesn't want to blow up Earth. Because it's where she keeps her stuff.
    • SHIELD has a last resort scorched-earth weapon called Hammerdown to be use if tactical containment was no longer an option.
  • Show Within a Show: Combined with Comic-Book Fantasy Casting with the in-Universe Avengers movie. George Clooney as Tony Stark, Brad Pitt as Steve Rogers, and Gal Gadot as MHXX.
  • Ship Tease: Inverted in-story as many characters wind up telling Victor Von Doom and MHXX to stop flirting when they're not. It's been implied in story that they both see a relationship as an Unequal Pairing in different manners. MHXX is a Servant, while Doom is... well... Doom.
  • Sitcom Arch-Nemesis: MHXX treats Princess Shuri of Wakanda as an ineffectual version of this.
  • The Stations of the Canon: While the presence of MHXX affected many plot lines, most things stayed the same, just with additional interactions. It wasn't until the events of The Dark World that Mordred of all people saves Queen Frigga from her assassination, blowing the entire plot out of the water and setting the rest of the story on a vastly different direction.
    • Quicksilver still dies in Sokovia during the arc that introduces him, but the circumstances are far different; he dies at the hands of MHXX and causing a grieving Wanda to swear revenge on MHXX.
    • Peter Parker is outed as Spider-Man, but this time because he used his strength in anger after Uncle Ben was shot by a mugger. Jameson pays for his legal bills, recognizing that Peter wasn't exploiting his power for personal gain, and wasn't a masked Vigilante. Instead, his ire is more directed at Daredevil (2015), whom is acting outside the law.
  • Stealth Hi/Bye: While the usual suspects of Fury, Natasha Romanov and Clint Barton can do this, the real surprise is The Ancient One, who does this to MHXX multiple times, only revealing herself when she adds to a conversation.
  • Superpower Lottery: In the eyes of many, MHXX has won this several times over.
  • Take That!: The author has no love for the TVA from Loki (2021), and MHXX admitted that she delivered a Curb-Stomp Battle on them off screen. And this was before the show's season finale where the true reason behind the TVA's existence was revealed.
  • Talk Show Appearance: As part of a public relations campaign on the behalf of the Avengers, MHXX appeared on ABC's Good Morning America.
  • Thank the Maker: On occasion, MHXX will use Merlin's name in vain in the spirit of this trope.
  • Thinking Up Portals: After her Class Change, and improved magic capacity, this is how ArtiE tends to go places on Earth. She replaces Karl Mordo for this job on the Avengers and other groups she works with.
  • This Cannot Be!: The Wakandians are utterly shocked when MHXX casually breaks a Vibranium spear and the Black Panther's Vibranium mask. They quickly get over it and take a more proactive approach to the world, if only to prevent it from happening again.
  • Those Two Guys: Natasha Romanov and Clint Barton share this job when in larger groups.
  • Time Travel Episode: Artie finds a Time Machine that is owned by Kang the Conquerer in the possession of Excalibur, and fixes it. She then drags Mordred back into the past to Camelot several years before it fell as a vacation for both of them.
  • Trapped in Another World: The entire plot is that MHXX is this in the MCU. She entered through the breach that the Tesseract made to let the Chitauri in, but the breach was closed and can't be reopened without risking letting eldritch horrors in.
  • Under the Mistletoe: Played for Laughs when during Christmas, MHXX slaps a headband with mistletoe on it on Tony. Banner, Rhodes, and Mordo immediately step away from him.
  • Unreliable Narrator: It's easy to see when MHXX is lying to herself and to the reader about what's happening, and is usually played for laughs.
  • Wake Up, Go to School & Save the World: MHXX does this after she is enrolled to study at a university while doing her job as a member of the Avengers.
  • Wham Episode: Chapter 200 has Wanda Maximoff, in possession of the Mind Stone, agree to work with Thanos. Chapter 314 reveals that MHXX forced a Class Change on herself as a result of peer pressure and her desires to fit in with the rest of the Universe, resulting in her becoming an Alter Ego. The fallout carries of for quite some time.
  • What the Hell, Hero?:
    • After MHXX falls into a light coma after collapsing from exhaustion during training with Excalibur, Secretary Pierce takes everyone from Director Fury to Captain Rogers to Captain Braddock and Morded le Fey to task over their screw up.
    • Done again by Karl Mordo to pretty much everyone in her Social Circle from Steve Rogers to Victor von Doom in response to her self-inflicted Class Change to Alter Ego
  • Who Writes This Crap?!: Sometimes used as self depreciation by the author, but every so often, MHXX will complain about the writers, the dialogue and the plot out loud. Sometimes people think she's use usual self, other times, the characters will agree with her.
  • Willfully Weak: MHXX notes to herself that the moment a problem requires a violent solution, she can quickly wrap things up. Doing so however, would deprive the other Avengers of needed experience, so she holds back for the most part. The Gloves Come Off though when she encounters the Dark Wraiths, and decides that an Earth-Shattering Kaboom is the appropriate start to the battle. The collective reaction of the Kree Imperium is Oh, Crap!
  • Wrecked Weapon: Not a weapon, but rather the Holy Lance Armor Avalon gets damaged by both Odin and Pietro Maximoff. The former does so during a bar brawl and is pretty much walked off, but the later requires Loki's Scepter and the Mind Stone to do it, requiring significant repair time.
  • Wrong Context Magic: How MHXX's Servant Skills tend to operate, though this goes both ways as she can't understand some of the magic in the MCU.
  • You Shall Not Pass!: During MHXX's battle with Quicksilver, they end up fighting in the city and later on the outskirt of Sokovia's deceased Prime Minister's funeral procession, who are too slow to even notice them fighting, let alone evacuate. Noting this, MHXX takes Quicksilver's nameless Noble Phantasm, Loki's stolen scepter, through her chest, rather than risk him hurting the civilians behind her if she dodges. While she does survive and immediately returns the favor on Quicksilver, Avalon is badly damaged during the fight. For this, she becomes regarded as a national hero for Sokovia.
