The Super Special Awesome Squad

    Yuugi Muto

Yuugi Muto

The main protagonist of the story. Yuugi is an intelligent but childish boy who doesn't care about heroes but cherishes friendship and makes every effort to maintain them. He ends up becoming involved in a variety of adventures and political plots after the emergence of his mysterious Quirk. His Quirk is Enter the Mind.

  • Adaptational Sexuality: Yuugi is stated to be demisexual.
  • All of the Other Reindeer: Before Izuku, he used to be bullied or picked on because of his autism.
  • Best Friend: To Izuku.
  • Brutal Honesty: He's very up front when speaking to people and isn't afraid to speak his mind. This can be a bit of a problem as his lack of social filter can result in some agitated reactions.
  • Change the Uncomfortable Subject: His method of not wanting to talk about something serious that involves his friends or grandpa usually involves ignoring the problem to focus on something else.
  • Child Prodigy: Yuugi becomes a child of interest due to his rare empathy Quirk along with his incredible engineering skills. It's because of this that many groups such as the Hero Commission, U.A., and the Yuuki family are interested in getting him to work on their behalf.
  • Conditioned to Accept Horror: Due to being around countless hero fights and accidents, he's already become used to seeing civilians die or injured in various ways.
  • Crazy-Prepared: In his childhood, Yuugi would always carry a variety of games should he meet a potential friend to play with but doesn't know how to play a given game.
  • Disabled in the Adaptation: He has autism spectrum disorder and a good portion of the story focuses on how he and his friends manage with his disorder.
  • The Empath: His Quirk allows him to venture into people's soul rooms and change it as he desires.
  • Foil:
    • To Izuku. Both of them were born with genetic differences that made them targets of bullying and were friendless before meeting each other. They are also shown to be child prodigies with exceptional talents. The main differences are that while Izuku desperately wants a Quirk to become a true hero and is fully versed in everything hero related, Yuugi doesn't show interest in hero culture and would be perfectly content being Quirkless. And while Izuku's talents stem from his ability to analyze Quirks and fighting styles, Yuugi's talents come from his ability to create and take apart machinery.
    • To Seto. Both boys are regarded as being incredibly intelligent when it comes to their studies aswell as engineering, are known to be socially awkward and are considered to be people of value by prominent organizations. The main difference is that Seto is known for being prideful, condescending and sarcastic to everyone around him while Yuugi shows more courtesy, humility and respect to those he speaks with.
  • Gadgeteer Genius: He has a thing for inventions. He's over the moon when Nemuri gives him a schematic book and he begins to take apart appliances while putting them back together. Later on, he would make a functioning barrier machine using his infinity cube and would even be hired to work at KaibaCorp as a top engineer.
  • Introverted Cat Person: He owns a cat named Kuriboh and isn't one for socializing. Although he doesn't mind going on outings with his closest friends.
  • Journey to the Center of the Mind: His Empathy Quirk allows him to venture into other people's Soul Rooms and can modify it which in turn can change a person's mental state.
  • Locked Out of the Loop: In Book 2, he becomes aware that the adults and Pro Heroes are coming across vital information about him that he doesn't know about it. He vents to his friends on how he's worried that he knows so little and is motivated to be as fully informed about his Quirk and personal family history.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero:
    • Having witnessed Bakugou's horrible personality in person, Yuugi openly tells his friend that Bakugou is a bully and that he shouldn't have to deal with his abuse. The downside is that all this does is make Izuku realize that Bakugou can get away with his actions since no one around him has ever stopped the explosive brat which makes the green haired boy feel even worse about his situation.
    • In Book 2 Chapter 11, his efforts to remove the corrupted Soul Room in Wolfram's mindscape ends up going into his mindscape instead which also lands him in hot water with Nagare and Ishizu.
  • No Social Skills: Zigzagged. He knows the basics when it comes to social interactions and what's expected of him when meeting new people or maintaining friendships. However he doesn't have a social filter and tends to blurt out rude or straightforward remarks when caution is required.
  • Pay Evil unto Evil: He may be a good kid but he won't hold back in adminstering righteous justice at anyone who hurts him or his friends. Examples include vowing vengeance on whoever created the tainted vaccine which could have killed Izuku and how he plans to murder Bakugou if he tries to hurt Izuku again while using the Yuuki's Clan one favor as insurance.
  • Picky Eater: He has a hard time eating certain foods. Though he doesn't mean to be this, the textures and tastes of various foods make it difficult for him to eat.
  • Poisonous Person: A variant. In Book 2, it's revealed that his blood has been contaminated with the Trigger vaccine which means that anyone who ingests it will meet a fatal demise. Just ask what happened to Stain.
  • Prone to Tears: He tends to cry whenever he has a meltdown or feels overwhelmed.
  • The Protagonist: The star of the show as the story is strictly told from his perspective.
  • Raised by Grandparents: He was raised by his grandfather after his mother's unfortunate death while the father wanted nothing to do with raising an autistic child.
  • Screen Name: His username is "KingOfGames".
  • Secret-Keeper: In Book 2 Chapter 5, he discovers that All Might and Toshinori are the same person after seeing the same aura energy they give followed by Yuugi piecing together the commonalities between the two and their relation to his best friend. In Chapter 12, he comes clean about it to his friends, his grandfather and Toshinori himself.
  • Seen It All: Before befriending Izuku, he's fully aware of how the kids he used to play with would either get bored with him, call him names or destroy his games out of spite. So it comes as a delightful surprise when Izuku does none of those things and still wants to hang with him.
  • Somebody Doesn't Love Raymond: In contrast to his best friend's love of heroes, Yuugi stands out as being indifferent towards heroes in general. He mainly dislikes them for how destructive and loud they can be along with their tacky uniforms. The two heroes he dislikes in particular would be Endeavor for his destructive fighting style and Present Mic for his loud personality.
  • Spotlight-Stealing Squad: He replaces Izuku as the main protagonist of the MHA story.
  • Teen Genius: Along with building advanced and revolutionary technology, he's also becoming fully knowledgeable when it comes to business stocks.
  • Took a Level in Badass: In the past, Yuugi would always try to avoid conflicts and roll with whatever punches his bullies or foes throw at him. This changes as he makes more of an effort to stand up and fight back against his opponents, especially if they try to hurt his friends. It also helps that he has a powerful Empathy Quirk and Yami to help him out.
  • Weirdness Magnet: He has the misfortune of being close to dangerous events involving hero activity. The sudden attacks from villains and heroes is what influence Yuugi's disinterest in heroes.

    Izuku Midoriya

Izuku Midoriya

An enthusiastic fanboy who dreams of becoming a hero himself. Izuku was dealt a heavy hand growing up as he was discriminated against for being Quirkless and how those around him would constantly deny his dream. But by having his best friend Yuugi and a positive support system, the young dreamer is more confident in achieving his greatest wish. In Book 1, he is Quirkless but he inherits One For All in Book 2.

  • Accidental Pervert: Played for Laughs in Book 2. After his manifestation of Black Whip, the Ishtar siblings crack jokes about him having an interest in tentacle porn and Yuugi brings up how Jounouchi is never going to let him live it down.
  • All of the Other Reindeer: He's constantly bullied by Bakugou and his school peers because of his Quirkless nature.
  • Ascended Fanboy: He openly admired All Might since he was a boy and dreamed of becoming a hero as great as him. And his dream comes true after he earns All Might's favor and blesses him with One For All. Yuugi even thinks to himself that it made too much sense for Izuku to openly accept All Might's offer in becoming his apprentice.
  • Awesome by Analysis: He's very articulated when it comes to analyzing a person's Quirk along with their fighting capabilities and how to utilize their Quirk.
  • Back-to-Back Badass: In Book 2, Chapter 20, he gets to fight by All Might's side when the Sports Festival is invaded by the League of Villains.
  • Badass Normal: Discussed and averted. Throughout Book 1, Izuku gets the idea to be a Quirkless Hero while being fully aware of the disadvantage he'd be without a Quirk. It helps that he's receiving formal, and informal, combat training and has a quality support system to back up his dreams. And even when All Might presents him the opportunity to inherit his Quirk, Izuku takes the time to really think about his morals and whether he can really make an impact in society while Quirkless. Ultimately, he does accept One For All after his friends were hospitalized by Stain which leads to him realizing that he wouldn't have been able to help them while Quirkless.
  • Best Friend: To Yuugi.
  • Birds of a Feather: He becomes fast friends with Jounouchi thanks to him being a fellow hero otaku such as himself.
  • Cannot Keep a Secret: Subverted. He made an honest effort not to tell anyone about All Might's secrets or their new apprenticeship. What he didn't expect was for his Best Friend to discover their connection through their auras followed by a frustrated Yuugi telling Jounouchi and Jii-chan about it.
  • Character Development: Thanks to growing up with genuine friends who care for him along with a having a support network that can help him achieve his life-long dream, Izuku has a greater sense of self-preservation and healthy self-esteem compared to canon.
  • Clothing-Concealed Injury: In the early chapters, he wears long-sleeved shirts to hide the bruises that Bakugou gives him so Yuugi and his mom wouldn't find out.
  • Combat Tentacles: In Book 2, the Past Holders of One For All grant him access to Banjo's Black Whip Quirk.
  • Demoted to Extra: Downplayed. He's still an important character but his title as the protagonist was transferred to Yuugi as the story follows him and his struggles.
  • Disabled in the Adaptation:
    • Downplayed. In middle school, Bakugou manages to use his explosions on one of his legs that blows off serious chunks of flesh and requires serious medical attention. While it was able to heal, it still gives Izuku minor pain a year afterwards.
    • He also has anemia which causes him health issues as he begins to train for his Quirk.
  • Fan Boy: He loves all things related to hero culture. But he loves All Might the most.
  • Foil:
    • To Yuugi. Both of them were victims of bullying due to being born different and were friendless before meeting each other. They are also shown to be child prodigies with exceptional talents. The main differences are that while Yuugi isn't interested in hero culture and wouldn't mind being Quirkless, Izuku adores all things hero related and dreams of having his own Quirk so he can be a hero too. And while Yuugi is skilled at making inventions, Izuku is more skilled at analyzing a person's Quirk and fighting capabilities.
    • To Jounouchi. Both of them are huge hero nerds who fight without Quirks. They also still care for their toxic former friends (Bakugou and Hirutani) and struggle to cut them out of their lives. The main differences are that Jounouchi has a Quirk which isn't very special while Izuku is Quirkless. And while Jounouchi is open about criticizing Hero Society and it's flaws, Izuku still holds the upmost adoration for heroes in general. Additionally, Jounouchi shows more caution and tends to avoid getting into peril while Izuku jumps head first into the peril to protect those he cares for.
  • Journey to the Center of the Mind: Izuku stands out as being one of the few, if only person, that Yami is comfortable enough to allow into his and Yuugi's mindscape.
  • I Just Want to Be Special: His heart's desire is to obtain a Quirk of his own so he can become a hero that can save anyone.
  • Iconic Item: His Hero analysis journals. He somehow manages to pull one out of nowhere so he can take notes on anything Quirk related.
  • In-Series Nickname: He still gets called "Deku" by his former friend.
  • Legacy of the Chosen: After being impressed by his tenacity and noble intentions, All Might decides to bless him with the legendary power of One For All. And after Yuugi meets with the Past Holders who warn him of All For One, he'll also be tasked with facing off against the King of Villains.
  • Love Martyr: Even though Bakugou constantly attacks him with his explosions, Izuku still sees him as his childhood friend with heroic potential and is willingly to endure his abuse to keep him from getting into trouble.
  • Motor Mouth: He can talk non-stop when it comes to hero statistics or how quirks function and develop.
  • Near-Death Experience: In Book 2, Yuugi is horrified to learn that Izuku could have potentially died from the Tainted Vaccine after discovering that all patients who died after the vaccine resulted in deadly anemia were Quirkless. Had Toshinori never gave him One For All for his body to develop, then Izuku would have suffered a tragic fate like the others.
  • Prone to Tears: Just like in canon, he tends to cry whenever he's upset or frustrated.
  • Screen Name: His username is "AllMightFan11131".
  • Secret-Keeper: He learns about Toshinori's secrets after becoming his successor.
  • Self-Deprecation: He has a habit of slandering himself and justifies it as a way of being a better hero.
  • Trauma Button: The moment where Jounouchi beat up Bakugou only for Bakugou to blow up Izuku's leg has emotionally scarred Izuku. So seeing his best friend and his former friend fight again forces him to experience a panic attack.
  • Unwanted Assistance: In Book 2, he isn't fond of Jounouchi and Yuugi defending him from Bakugou since it means he isn't strong enough to fight his own battles.

    Katsuya Jounouchi

Katsuya Jounouchi

A kid from the streets known for getting into fights and being a hero otaku. Despite his brash tendencies, he's a diamond in the rough who cares deeply for his friends and does what he can to keep them out of trouble. His Quirk is Gender Bender.

  • Accidental Pervert: Downplayed. Once he gets into Yuuei, he has to deal with Tenya hounding him for stalking the girls' bathroom like a degenerate. Though this is because he doesn't know about his transformation Quirk.
  • Ambiguous Gender Identity: Averted. Even though he can turn into a girl, Jounouchi still identifies as a boy and goes by he/him pronouns.
  • Anger Born of Worry: Tends to get agitated whenever his friends throw themselves into dangerous or questionable situations.
  • Badass Normal: His time on the streets and defending himself from bullies and thugs has given Jounouchi impeccable fighting experience. He even manages to beat up Bakugou on their first meeting.
  • Big Brother Instinct: He cares deeply for Shizuka and is willing to fight anyone who gives her a hard time for being Quirkless.
  • Birds of a Feather: He instantly gets along with Izuku due to his knowledge as a fellow hero otaku.
  • Bruiser with a Soft Center: A former delinquent who only uses his fists to beat up thugs who try to hurt him or his friends. Yuugi constantly brings up how he always feels safe whenever Jounouchi is around.
  • Dude Looks Like a Lady: Because of his Quirk, people easily mistake him for a girl when he's in girl mode.
  • Fan Boy: Played with regarding hero culture. Jounouchi does like heroes and is well versed when it comes to battles and statistics. He even considers All Might to be his favorite hero because of his noble nature. However, he's much more critical of heroes in regards to how most of them only work for the fame or are unbelievably reckless when it comes to their fights.
  • Fight Magnet: Jounouchi tends to come across alot of thugs and brutes who want to fight him. Thankfully, he's a pro and often comes out on top so it's not a big deal for him.
  • Foil: To Izuku. Both of them are hero otakus who aren't afraid to fight without a Quirk. They even have sentimental feelings for their toxic former friends (Hirutani and Bakugou) that both struggle to overcome. The main differences are that Izuku is naturally Quirkless while Jounouchi has a Quirk which isn't that special to him. And while Izuku only praises hero culture, Jounouchi is more aware of the problems in hero society and is quite vocal about it. Additionally, Izuku is more willing to push himself into dangerous situations to help others whereas Jounouchi is more cautious and would rather he, and his loved ones, avoid going directly into danger.
  • Gender Bender: His Quirk involves changing genders whenever he gets worked up.
  • Genre Savvy: Jounouchi is well versed with how biased hero society when it comes to people's Quirks. He knows that people with "villainous" Quirks will always be blamed or discriminated against while people with "strong" or "flashy" Quirks will be praised and pampered by everyone around them.
  • Good Counterpart: Can be seen as one to Bakugou. Both of them are vulgar blondes who aren't afraid to throw hands at anyone and have the syllable "Katsu" in their first names. The obvious difference is that Jounouchi only fights to protect himself or his friends from thugs while Bakugou purposefully goes after those he considers as weak. He's also one of Izuku's best friends who bonds with him through hero culture, doesn't care that he's Quirkless and often trains him on how to fight. The same can't be said for Bakugou who loathes Izuku, constantly brings up his Quirklessness to demean him and isn't against assaulting the boy whenever they cross paths.
  • Good Old Fisticuffs: He fights mainly with his fists.
  • Hero of Another Story: After getting acquainted with Tanaka-ba, he's been enrolled in a dojo for training and has participated in an MMA tournament.
  • Heroic Bystander: In Chapter 3 of Book 2, he ends up having to restrain a Trigger-fueled villain after Kamui Woods was rendered helpless by a fear inducing Quirk.
  • Hidden Depths: He enjoys listening to podcasts that cover crime related conspiracies and theories.
  • In-Series Nickname: Gets christened as "Corgi ass" by Bakugou.
  • Likes Clark Kent, Hates Superman: Inverted in regards to Toshinori Yagi. He adores and admires his heroic persona for all the good he does to the community mixed with his noble personality. And while he doesn't hate Toshinori, he does have his suspicions about him given his cryptic work and how closely he's working with Izuku. Even going as far as to speculate that he's after his friend's organs.
  • Loophole Abuse: With Midnight's help, Jounouchi is legally able to get away with using his Quirk in public since it can't be used to enhance his fighting skills.
  • The Mentor: He becomes one for Izuku by giving him pointers on how to fight. When he gets into Yuuei, Ochako and even Bakugou go to him for lessons.
  • Please, Don't Leave Me: One of his fears is that he won't be able to stay friends with Yuugi and Izuku once they go to Yuuei. Jounouchi himself never considered joining them as he isn't interested in heroism and is worried about being alone once more. Thankfully, his fairy godmother Tanaka-ba was able to secure him a spot in the General Studies program so they won't be separated.
  • Reformed Criminal: In his younger years, he used to be part of Hirutani's gang of scoundrels. But at some point, Jounouchi quit and wanted something better out of his life.
  • Secret-Keeper: In Book 2, he learns about Izuku's destiny as All Might's heir and how Toshinori Yagi, the guy he labeled as a creep who's after his buddy's organs, was actually the Number One Hero all along.
  • Screen Name: His username is "SMASHMIGHT44".
  • Squee: He's head over heels after getting to meet Midnight in public and how she knows his name.
  • Took a Level in Cheerfulness: He becomes a more upbeat and playful young man after befriending Yuugi and Izuku.
  • What Kind of Lame Power Is Heart, Anyway?: He doesn't think much of his gender swapping Quirk as it can't really be used for combat.
Jounouchi: “Not like a lot of fight use to going from boy to girl, unless I want to flash my tits at someone. Guess what: I don’t.”

Secondary Characters

    Sugoroku Muto

Sugoroku Muto

Yuugi's grandfather and legal guardian. A wise and pleasant man who would do everything to ensure the safety and growth of his beloved grandson. His Quirk is Probability.

  • Adaptational Badass: While he had his adventurous past in the anime, he didn't get to do much and was often treated as comic relief. In this story, he's regarded as a hardcore man with connections to powerful people and isn't afraid to stand up for himself or his grandson in the face of danger.
  • Celibate Hero: He never married after the death of his wife.
  • Cool Old Guy: He's a strong-willed grandfather who's a master at every strategy themed game, has connections to powerful people and is willing to wage wars if it guarantees the well-being of his ward.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: He lost both his parents at an early age and the death of his wife and daughter made it difficult for him to pursue any romantic relationships. He's also had to deal with ongoing Family Drama from his son-in-law and the rest of the Yuuki Clan.
  • Doting Grandparent: He constantly showers Yuugi with genuine love and offers him well thought out advice when it comes to his personal problems. It's justified since Sugoroku did become his legal guardian mixed with him having lost many of his family members, leaving Yuugi as the only family member he has left in the world.
  • Did You Just Flip Off Cthulhu?: In Book 2, he gives a serious lecture to Toshinori Yagi for how his reckless training methods have left Izuku hospitalized. And even after learning his Secret Identity as the Number One Hero, he still bullies him into taking better care of himself.
  • Good Parents: He treats Yuugi with the upmost kindness and does everything in his power to help him with his troubles. He's also fully informed about Yuugi's autism, uses positive strategies to help his grandson, and looks for trustworthy support to help manage his disorder.
  • Honorary Uncle: He's Izuku's honorary grandfather given how he saw the boy grow up alongside Yuugi and is willing to step in to protect him from his own recklessness.
  • King of Games: He's certainly worthy of title as he owns a game shop and is familiar with a variety of advanced games. He even takes the time to teach and play with Yuugi every night to pass his gaming knowledge onto him.
  • Magical Eye: His eyes turn red whenever he activates his Quirk.
  • Mundane Utility: He needs to use his Probability Quirk to help him make his favorite rolled omelets.
  • Mysterious Past: To Yuugi's knowledge, the death of Sugoroku's parents led to him dropping out of high school and leaving Japan to go on wild adventures for ten years before deciding to settle down. He has yet to learn what type of adventures his grandfather was part of.
  • Outliving One's Offspring: His daughter was an unfortunate causality during a public hero fight.
  • Papa Wolf: He's fiercely protective of his grandson and isn't afraid to take effective action against anyone who would dare hurt him.
  • Parents as People: As Yuugi learns in Book 2, Sugoroku has his own personal issues to deal with and he isn't perfect. From how he dealt with grieving over his parents to keeping Nagare's true intentions a secret from his grandson.
  • Retired Outlaw: Implied to be one. From what Yuugi can speculate, he was involved in some shady, almost villainous, circumstances during his 10 year trip outside of Japan. Sir Nighteye even calls him a villain to Yuugi's face. Thankfully he was able to clean up his act and live a modest life afterwards.
  • Secret-Keeper: In Book 2 Chapter 6, Yuugi reveals to him how he discovered Toshinori's true identity as All Might. In a later chapter, he engages in a serious discussion with Toshinori, along with the boys, about Izuku's new Quirk and the heavy responsibilities tied with it.

    Yami

Yami

Yuugi's other self. An extension of his Quirk that allows both boys to enter Soul Rooms and attack those that would harm either of them. Despite his cryptic nature, Yami is often presented as a stubborn boy who's difficult to work with.

  • Adaptational Backstory Change: In the original, he is the spirit of an Ancient Egyptian Pharaoh who resides in Yuugi's mind after the boy completed his puzzle. In this story, he's now a part of Yuugi that manifested in relation to his Empathy Quirk.
  • Age Lift: Physically, he looks like a teenager. But compared to his original counterpart who was more wiser and mature, this Yami's mindset is younger and quite stubborn at times.
  • Animal Motifs: Yami can be described as a cat given his manner of hanging around Yuugi while in rest mode and how he watches any undesirable target like a cat watching a mouse.
  • Bully Hunter: He willingly goes after people who were hired by Hirutani in order to protect Jounouchi and friends. In fact, his first victim was Bakugou and delivered a significant level of trauma that warranted intervention from the Ishtar siblings.
  • Everyone Has Standards: He refuses to use his Mind Crush attack on Izuku despite the fanboy genuinely asking to be hit just so he can study his capabilities.
  • Heroic BSoD: He gets one in Book 1 Chapter 20 after he failed to keep Yuugi safe from Stain's attack.
  • Introverted Cat Person: Yami isn't a social person and is comfortable interacting with a few people in Yuugi's life. For the cat part, he's photographs cats as a hobby and shares his newest pics with the boys.
  • Mind Rape: Yami has the power to psychologically terrorize anyone who would harm his original self or friends.
  • Mysterious Protector: Due to the mysterious circumstances regarding his nature, most people are stumped as to how Yami functions. But one thing that is certain is that Yami exists to protect his other self and his friends from those who would hurt them in any capacity.
  • The Nicknamer: In a sense, he uses alternate words to describe his friends or people who interact with his other self. For example, he refers to Izuku as protect/friend/determined/mine and Jounouchi as fight/protect/belong/mine.
  • Red Eyes, Take Warning: Yuugi's eyes turn red whenever Yami takes over and enacts punishment on any potential antagonists.
  • Spider-Sense: Yami is known to "flicker" whenever he senses imminent danger around Yuugi.
  • Supernatural Fear Inducer: Yami's method of attacking involves manipulating a target's fight or flight response which pushes them into a neutralized fear-induced state.
  • Thrill Seeker: It's hypothesized that Yami represents a part of Yuugi's brain that seeks stimulation and will often find hero fights or potential thugs to beat up in order to obtain it.

    Netsuko Tanaka-ba/Eclipse

Netsuko Tanaka-ba

A retired Pro Hero who is now a professional cat groomer and neighborhood auntie. She's sassy, crude, loves to poke fun at others, and is one of the most dependable adults in the story. Her Quirk is Magic Touch.

  • Blackmail: A major reason why she can get Pro Heroes and high ranking officials to do her bidding is thanks to the variety of blackmail material she came across, from her time as a Pro to the wonders of the internet
  • Brutal Honesty: A reconstruction of the trope. She claims that one of the reasons for why she wanted to be a neighborhood auntie was so she could be responsible for telling harsh lessons to children. She explains that their parents or families wouldn't have the heart to tell them the harsh truths of the real world so she willingly takes on the role to explain things to their kids while providing them with wisdom on how to work through them.
  • Celibate Hero: Word of God has stated that she's aromantic.
  • Cool Old Lady: She's in her elderly years with a cool personality and knows how to give pretty solid advice.
  • Crazy Cat Lady: Subverted with the crazy part considering her level-headed and wise personality. But she's the resident cat lady who makes a living breeding Turkish Angoras.
  • Deadpan Snarker: She tends to make a ton of dry or wisecracking comments.
  • Demoted to Extra: She makes only a handful of appearances in Book 2.
  • Gossipy Hens: During her time as a Pro Hero, she's picked up alot of facts from her co-worker heroes regarding dumb or embarrassing things they've done in their lives and often spills the tea for Yuugi and friends.
  • Hidden Heart of Gold: Underneath her cool and cranky exterior lies a good heart that cares for kids. This is best shown in Chapter 8 where she embraces Yuugi in relief after he lived through a fatal vaccine reaction.
  • Honorary Aunt: She considers herself as Yuugi's "Auntie".
  • Iconic Item: She always carries her tablet with her.
  • It Runs in the Family: Given the theme of her hero title, along with her neice being Midnight, it's all but stated that Netsuko's Quirk involved rendering people unconscious.
  • Lady Swears Alot: She tends to pepper in swear words whenever she speaks. And she doesn't bother censoring herself in front of children.
  • The Mentor: She decides to become one to Jounouchi so he can have a reliable adult in his life. She even offers him advice when it comes to his Gender Bender Quirk.
  • Poisonous Person: Downplayed. Word of God confirms that she has the power to render people unconscious by making skin to skin contact with them.
  • Retired Badass: Tanaka-ba was the Knock Out Hero Eclipse in her early years but has now retired in the present day.
  • Shipper on Deck: Defied. Tanaka-ba genuinely hates this concept as she knows from experience that messing around with a person's love life will lead to disaster and heartbreak.
  • Took a Level in Cynic: The main reason for why she grew to dislike being a hero was because the people around her stopped caring for one another and just relied on heroes to do the saving. Not only did it put more pressure on them but it makes regular people more passive and unwilling to try and resolve the problem(s) themselves. That and the unending sexualization of women heroes.
  • Trickster Mentor: As wise and thoughtful as she is, she isn't one to hand out answers like candy. She likes to give a few mind-games to the kids who come into her home while also getting them to do chores for her.

    Nagare Yuuki

Nagare Yuuki

A member of the Yuuki Clan known for having a devil-may-care personality that many find frustrating. He becomes involved in the story after a chance encounter with his little cousin Yuugi. His Quirk is Psychometry.

  • Berserk Button: He becomes instantly furious after hearing about Aknadin Yuuki.
  • Big Damn Heroes: He assists Eraserhead in taking down Stain who was close to killing Yuugi.
  • Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: He tries to pass off as friendly and sociable but he's a pretty petty jerk with self-serving interests.
  • Bringing in the Expert: His true profession is a forensics specialist. Whenever someone dies and under suspicious circumstances, Nagare will be called in to determine if the murder was Quirk related. This will allow the authorities to determine if a Pro Hero is required or not.
  • Dude in Distress: Yuugi and his friends find him suffering a seizure after a building exploded in Chapter 16 and needed Yuugi to enter his mind to save him.
  • Foolish Sibling, Responsible Sibling: He's the foolish, light-hearted younger brother to Mahado being the responsible, level-headed older brother.
  • The Gadfly: He tends to act carefree and whimsical if only to get into people's skin. Apparently he does this to antagonize people into attacking Nagare which in turn would allow him to know everything about them.
  • Gayngst: In Book 2 Chapter 18, he confesses to Yuugi that he's gay but he's willing to go through with an Arranged Marriage with a woman for the sake of the family.
  • I Just Want to Be Free: Played With. He still wishes to serve his family but he detests the idea of being stuck in an Arranged Marriage even if it's to serve the Clan. As a result, he made a deal with Yuugi's dad to use his influence to keep him single in exchange for looking after his boy.
  • I Owe You My Life:
    • He makes it clear that he owes Yuugi for saving him when he found himself in the brink of death after an explosive incident.

  • Foil: To Yuugi. Both of them were prodigies when it came to excelling at their academics along with inventing, are known to be socially awkward and are often encountered by prominent organizations who want to exploit them. The main difference is that Yuugi has a more humble, soft-spoken nature and isn't one to stand up for himself while Seto is more prideful, boastful and isn't afraid to talk down at others.
  • Grade-School C.E.O.: At thirteen years old, he took over KaibaCorp as it's new president and even took over another support company at fourteen. In the later half of Book 2, he's revealed to be attending Yuuei as part of an agreement with obtaining full ownership of his company.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: He's the same arrogant, condescending jerk you know and love, but he does treat Yuugi with genuine kindness and patience. Especially after Yuugi starts to work for him.
  • Meaningful Name: His original surname was Tokage which is Japanese for "lizard" and his quirk involves communicating with lizards.

  • Young Entrepreneur: He's 14 years old and has expanded KaibaCorp's success rate through it's Hero Support division along with making technological advancements in space exploration.

    Toshinori Yagi/All Might

Toshinori Yagi

A reserved and patient man who is often recognized for his sickly body state. His hero identity is known throughout Japan as the charismatic, boisterous and greatest hero of all. He's ushered an era of peace thanks to his decade long service of fighting the forces of evil and is now on a quest to find an heir who can maintain that era. His Quirk is One For All.

  • Back-to-Back Badass: In Book 2, he fights alongside Izuku to fend off against the Nomus during the Sports Festival attack.
  • Big Good: The Number One Hero of Japan with a heart of 20K gold and is beloved by all.
  • Blood from the Mouth: Tends to do this whenever he transforms back into his normal form.
  • Character Development: In Book 2, after Yuugi unintentionally discovers his secrets while getting some good life coaching from Sugoroku about taking better care of himself, Toshinori makes a significant effort to reduce his involvement as All Might for the upcoming school year. Rather then becoming a full-fledged teacher right away, he's limiting himself to minor guest lectures as he focuses more on his civilian self. Additionally, he's starting to be more cautious and meticulous about Izuku's training so his ward won't be harmed during his hero development.
  • Chronic Hero Syndrome: Deconstructed. After creating a peaceful Hero Society after his decades as the Number One Hero, Toshinori himself has been exhausted and tired for having to take on countless responsibilities as everyone relies on him to maintain peace with his presence. Bearing the weight of the world is too much for the poor man and has even resulted in his reclining health.
  • Clark Kenting: The boys only meet him in his civilian form and haven't figured out (minus Izuku) that he's the fairest hero of them all. Though Yuugi, Jounouchi and Sugoroku learn of his secrets in Book 2.
  • Early-Bird Cameo: He appears in Chapter 7 while he and Yuugi are spectating a hero fight in public.
  • Embodiment of Virtue: His All Might persona is regarded as a genuine Symbol of Peace who can make people feel more at ease with only his kind nature and welcoming presence. Izuku also points out that even if his rival Endeavor were to take his position as Fairest One of All, he wouldn't have the same peaceful influence as All Might does.
  • Friend to All Children: Both personas are great when it comes to interacting with kids with Hawks complaining that not every Pro is as great at it like him.
  • Hero Does Public Service: His reasons for having Izuku clean up Dagobah Beach is to remind him how heroes should also be engaged with the community and help out in ways that don't necessarily involve fighting villains.
  • Honorary Uncle: To Melissa Shield.
  • Many Spirits Inside of One: Thanks to his empathy quirk, Yuugi learns that between six and seven people aka the Vestiges of One For All, are residing inside Toshinori. And in Book 2 Chapter 5, Yuugi sees this same aura energy when he's in public as All Might which leads to him discovering his true identity.
  • The Mentor: He becomes one to Izuku during the later half of Book 1 by organizing his workout regiment.
  • "Not So Different" Remark: Toshinori comments that he and Sugoroku are quite similar as they both grew up in radically different but harsher worlds and want to protect their kids however they can.
  • Oh, Crap!: He gets multiple times in Book 2 Chapter 12. He's stupefied to learn that Izuku's friends and Sugoroku were able to find out about his inheritance of One For All along with his true identity as the Symbol of Peace. But he gets a worse one when Yuugi warns him that All For One is still alive meaning that his heir will be his next target.
  • The Workaholic: As the Symbol of Peace, he has a really bad habit of working long hours while neglecting his health. In Book 2, Yuugi and his grandpa have to firmly remind him to take more health breaks.
