Subpages cleanup: Complete Monster

Go To

During the investigation of recent hollers in the Complete Monster thread, it's become apparent to the staff that an insular, unfriendly culture has evolved in the Complete Monster and Magnificent Bastard threads that is causing problems.

Specific issues include:

  • Overzealous hollers on tropers who come into the threads without being familiar with all the rules and traditions of the tropes. And when they are familiar with said rules and traditions, they get accused (with little evidence) of being ban evaders.
  • A few tropers in the thread habitually engage in snotty, impolite mini-modding. There are also regular complaints about excessive, offtopic "socializing" posts.
  • Many many thread regulars barely post/edit anywhere else, making the threads look like they are divorced from the rest of TV Tropes.
  • Following that, there are often complaints about the threads and their regulars violating wiki rules, such as on indexing, crosswicking, example context and example categorization. Some folks are working on resolving the issues, but...
  • Often moderator action against thread regulars leads to a lot of participants suddenly showing up in the moderation threads to protest and speak on their behalf, like a clique.

It is not a super high level problem, but it has been going on for years and we cannot ignore it any longer. There will be a thread in Wiki Talk to discuss the problem; in the meantime there is a moratorium on further Complete Monster and Magnificent Bastard example discussion until we have gotten this sorted out.

Update: The new threads have been made and can be found here:

Please see the Frequently Asked Questions and Common Requests List before suggesting any new entries for this trope.

IMPORTANT: To avoid a holler to the mods, please see here for the earliest date a work can be discussed, (usually two weeks from the US release), as well as who's reserved discussion.

When voting, you must specify the candidate(s). No blanket votes (i.e. "[tup] to everyone I missed").

No plagiarism: It's fair to source things, but an effortpost must be your own work and not lifted wholesale from another source.

We don't care what other sites think about a character being a Complete Monster. We judge this trope by our own criteria. Repeatedly attempting to bring up other sites will earn a suspension.

What is the Work

Here you briefly describe the work in question and explain any important setting details. Don't assume that everyone is familiar with the work in question.

Who is the Candidate and What have they Done?

This will be the main portion of the Effort Post. Here you list all of the crimes committed by the candidate. For candidates with longer rap sheets, keep the list to their most important and heinous crimes, we don't need to hear about every time they decide to do something minor or petty.

Do they have any Mitigating Factors or Freudian Excuse?

Here you discuss any potential redeeming or sympathetic features the character has, the character's Freudian Excuse if they have one, as well as any other potential mitigating factors like Offscreen Villainy or questions of moral agency. Try to present these as objectively as possible by presenting any evidence that may support or refute the mitigating factors.

Do they meet the Heinousness Standard?

Here you compare the actions of the Candidate to other character actions in the story in order to determine if they stand out or not. Remember that all characters, not just other villains, contribute to the Heinousness Standard

Final Verdict?

Simply state whether or not you think the character counts or not.

After counting 15 [tup] and 0 [tdown] for Rip Blazkowicz, it seems like we have reached a unanimous decision that he qualifies. Here's a draft:

[up]Add to drafts and that makes it 54 this week, so yeah two batches is a good idea unless we want to swamp the mods. I'm not sure though that Engel can count as well if she never subverted her redeeming quality.

  • Dr. Oliver Thredson initially appears to be the sole reasonable person at Briarcliff. However, it is later revealed that he is in fact the original Bloody Face, a Serial Killer who preys on women. An emotionally immature psychopath with Parental Abandonment issues, he kidnaps women with skin he believes feels like that of a mother's. Those whose skin he judges to be inadequate get skinned and beheaded, and their skin is used to make furniture or masks. Tasked with evaluating the sanity of Kit Walker, the man accused of committing the Bloody Face murders, he persuades Kit into admitting to the killings and records him in order to brand him as the perpetrator. Gaining the trust of Lana Winters, he lures her to his home after helping her escape Briarcliff. Revealing to her that he has killed her girlfriend and kept her corpse on ice, he encourages her to sexually experiment with the body to "help" with her conversion therapy. He intends for Lana to become a replacement mother figure to him, but rapes and tries to kill her when she attempts to escape. This results in her getting pregnant. While he appears disgusted at the possibility of his child being aborted or going into the foster system, he later shows exactly how much he cares about the child when he makes another attempt to kill Lana when she threatens to expose him, smugly gloating that he'll avoid prison with the insanity defense. Depraved, psychotic, and perverted, there were no lows that this deviant wouldn't sink to fulfill his twisted desires.
  • Godzilla/My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic fanfic The Bridge: Grand King Ghidorah is an Omnicidal Maniac with a god complex. Traveling the universe for eons, Ghidorah has razed countless civilizations to absorb the souls of the fallen, increasing his own power. Enjoying mind games, Ghidorah also takes to psychically forcing worlds of people to turn on each other. Supposedly killing Monster X's wife and then continuously tormenting him, Ghidorah hopes to drive him over the edge into his Superpowered Evil Side, Kaizer Ghidorah, which he adores as a fellow destroyer. Attacking Equestria with his cohorts, Ghidorah brainwashes Starlight Glimmer into attacking Godzilla Jr., in the hopes the latter will become enraged; this may destroy the whole planet, but Ghidorah is fine with that, as this provide a good fight and remove a problem. While bored, he cruelly mind rapes Celestia until Luna forces him to stop. Forcing Monster X to turn into Kaizer Ghidorah, King Ghidorah leaves the berserker to attack his friends while he himself attempts to kill Godzilla Jr. When fatally wounded, Ghidorah tries to destroy all of Equestria with a Wave-Motion Gun as one last act of spite. A megalomaniac who planned to kill even his own brother, Grand King Ghidorah proves himself to be every bit as vile as his cinematic counterparts.
  • Super Mario 64 Game Mod Super Mario 64: Last Impact: Rashay is a snarky, cruel moon spirit who seeks to force the moon to crash into the Mushroom Kingdom, and kill everyone on the planet solely for the thrill of it. After revealing his presence near the end of the game, he kidnaps Princess Peach and forces Mario to exchange a large amount of Power Stars for the Princess to ensure her safety. After infiltrating his Moon Cellar, where at one point Mario is forced to fling himself through painful lava for Rashay's amusement, Mario fights Rashay only to find out that he can't be hurt through conventional means. Upon this revelation, Rashay defeats Mario and continues to viciously beat the fallen plumber even after his loss, purely out a deranged sense of bloodlust.
  • The Carmilla Movie: In this film that is a continuation of the web series, Elle Sheridan was a former friend and lover of Carmilla Karnstein, before she learnt Carmilla was a vampire and betrayed her to her mother, who buries Carmilla alive. Later sacrificed to Lopphiformes, Elle plotted revenge against Carmilla, resenting her for having her humanity and mortality restored. Elle hatched a plan and began to torment Laura with nightmares, luring her, Carmilla, and her friends to her mansion. Gathering the souls of the other sacrifices, Elle manipulated them into preparing a ritual that would help them move on to the afterlife, with Carmilla willingly giving up her human life and turning back into a vampire. Unbeknownst to them, Elle plans on stealing Carmilla's life for her own, and condemning the rest of the spirits back into the hell dimension forever. While she was a victim of sacrifice herself, it is shown and repeatedly stated that she was far from the only one, admitting to her selfish motives and plan when called out, and showing a cruel disdain and indifference for everyone else, contrasting with the forgiving attitude of the other ghosts. Elle goes on to pick off of Carmilla and Laura's friends, trapping them in their nightmarish hell before doing the same to Carmilla and Laura themselves; Carmilla's in particular reliving Elle's betrayal over and over again. When Laura rescues her friends and the other ghosts to prepare the ritual, Elle makes one final attempt to disrupt them, holding a knife to Carmilla's throat. Originally described as a tragic, romantic figure of Carmilla's past and even a benevolent force in season one, at the time of the movie, Elle has since become a far cry from who she previously was.
  • The Madman Chronicles (2012): The Video Killer is a Serial Killer who records his murders and posts them online. He is suspected to have killed over 100 people over the course of a year, with the police unable to catch him due to his habit of constantly changing his MO, as well as him always committing the murders when there are no witnesses around. Throughout the film, he murders various people, and kidnaps a girl named Kelly Wells after killing her mother. He locks Kelly up in his basement with another girl named Jennifer Abaid, with it being revealed that he occasionally kidnaps girls and locks them up for long periods of time before killing them. Jennifer states that there were several other women down there, but that he killed them all over time. The killer eventually murders Jennifer, and steals clothing from a home to force Kelly to wear, stabbing an officer in the neck on the way out.
  • Revenge Of The Green Dragons (2014):
    • Ah Chung serves as the leader of the Green Dragons gang on the behalf of Paul Wong. Upon recruiting Sonny and Steven to his gang when they were only kids, he was responsible for turning them into his loyal hitmen, and would order them to kill anyone he wants, starting with a group of people that owes him money. Years later, his gang would cause many deaths of many rival gang members as well as innocents, and he even has one gang member tortured to death, having his teeth pulled out, his fingers cut off fingers, and finally getting shot in the head. Upon hearing that Steven's uncle has acquired some money, he decides to rob his place and commands his right-hand man Chicken Wing to rape the uncle's daughter while he forces him to watch. This act causes Steven to have a mental breakdown and go on a killing spree on his own, causing the death of a white man. When Ah Chung learned of this he was upset, but only because of how much unwanted attention it will bring from the cop and barely got away, where afterwards he proceeds to stab Steven to death before putting his corpse in a dumpster.
    • Chicken Wing serves as The Dragon to the aforementioned Ah Chung, but managed to stand out on his own. He first establishes himself by beating an innocent man in a bathroom; when a young Steven stumbles across this, he forces Steven to defecate on the man before he kills him. He then takes the boy to brutally beat up and was about to castrate him before Ah Chung and Paul Wong show up to recruit Steven. He also partook in the gang's mass killings of rivals and innocents and was actually the one who gave Ah Chung the idea for the rival gang member's slow and torturous death. He later helps Ah Chung rob Steven's uncle and gladly follows his boss's order to rape his daughter, as well as his wife. He later takes their panties as trophies and proudly shows them to Steven, much to the latter's disgust. After Steven nearly got them arrested, Chicken Wing prevents his brother, Sonny, from saving Steven from being brutally executed by Ah Chung.
  • Assassin's Creed : Forsaken:
    • Reginald Birch is also the Greater-Scope Villain of the Kenway Saga. Initially a friend to Edward Kenway, when the latter's daughter, Jennifer Scott, exposes Birch to her father as not only a Templar of the British Rite but also their Grand Master, he sends mercenaries to the Kenway manor to murder Edward Kenway, and kidnap Jennifer to be sold as a Sex Slave to Turkish slavers, all while framing a innocent servant for the crime. He then takes in Edward's son Haytham, only so he could manipulate him into becoming a killer as well as a Knight Templar fanatic. From there he has Haytham kill many people, including the opposing Assassins. He even has a fellow Templar tortured and castrated when he got in the way of his plans. He also has Haytham uncover technology from the First Civilization, knowing full well the kind of destruction that they bring, all so he could use them to rule the world, even sending the below-mentioned Edward Braddock to help him. When Haytham finds where Jennifer is being captive as well as Birch being the true culprit behind his father's murder, Birch tries to have Haytham killed along with Jennifer. In his last moments Birch tries to pass himself off as well-intentioned, but Haytham can see right through him as nothing more than a self-deluded madman only using the Templar ideology as an excuse to claim more power for himself.
    • General Edward Braddock, known as "The Bulldog", is a fellow Templar. Presented as an ally of Haytham, it was revealed that he helped the aforementioned Reginald Birch cover up the Kenway mansion raid while pretending to investigate it. He later took part in the siege of Bergen op Zoom against the French Army, and when he was retreating a man asked if he and his family could come with him. When the man calls him craven when Braddock doesn't allow this, Braddock has him and his family killed, children included. When Birch assigns him and Haytham to various parts of the world to uncover First Civilization technology, the former only questions Reginald's obsession when it meant his own life and position might be at stake; it doesn't detract from his cruelty during their search, as he continued to kill numerous people, not just his enemies, but also his allies and the innocent, much to Haytham's shock. During the Seven Years' War, Braddock oversees the annihilation of many French camps, and when one of them tries to offer a truce, he ignores it has order his men to kill them all, causing needless deaths on both sides of the field. He also has destroyed many uninvolved Native American tribes, solely to fuel his sadism. When he believes one of his men to be insubordinate, he kills him, something he has done many times before. When one of the tribes, with the help of Haytham, ambushes him and his men, he leaves them for dead, while trying to escape.
  • Blue Bloods:
    • Richard Reed, from season 1's "Re-Do", a vicious Serial Killer and rapist of women, is a misogynistic sadist who thinks all women are his to use and abuse. He later has his conviction overturned because a lab tech screwed up the protocols. With help from his fan club, he terrorized his surviving victim into silence and decided to let one of his fanboys have her. Even his own kin are not safe as Richard beats his sister and ties her up for saying something she "shouldn't have." Later he slits a janitor's throat and attempts to perform his usual MO on Erin Reagan, the ADA who convicted him, before she is saved by Frank. Void of any redeeming qualities or mitigating factors, he stands as one of the very worst the Reagan family went against.
    • The Phantom, real name Donald Washington, from season 2's "The Life We Chose", is a cold-blooded crack dealer and murderer. In the beginning of the episode he ruthlessly shoots detective Cruz and kills Detective Gates, who pleads that he has three kids and to which the Phantom replies "Too bad for them". This shocks even his own cohort who was only planning on robbing them. The Phantom would later kill his cohort when he didn't need him anymore. He later goes after other members of Task Force Apache, the police sting that sold him out planning on killing all of them to keep his drug dealing business running smoothly. Greedy and wishing to make his vile business run smoothly, he cares for no one but himself and is an utter psychopath.
    • Uri Denko, from season 2's "Working Girls", is a ruthless Arms Dealer who Erin is prosecuting. A cold-blooded sadist who has no problem executing a man's wife in front of him in their living room over a business dispute. He would later threaten the man's children in a courtroom outburst to scare him into not testifying but still has him killed anyway after the threats scare him into running. He then puts out a hit on the surviving witness and hounds her mercilessly even going so far as going after her grandmother back in Russia as well. A sociopath of the highest order, he would step on anyone who gets in his way.
    • Santana, from season 3's final two episodes The Bitter End and This Way Out, is a vicious gang leader of the Los Lordes gang. He and his gang are responsible for turning the Bitterman projects into a hellhole and hounding the residents, making them scared for their lives to the point that one young mother commits suicide with her son to get away from him. After her death and Detective Danny Reagan's attempts to take them down, he declares war on the police department and arranges for ambushes, one of which kills Jamie's partner and friend Vinny. He later takes advantage of a mentally-impaired man by having him shoot Mayor Poole by having him think it would be a harmless prank. The shooting would leave Poole paralyzed and in a wheelchair for the rest of his life. After his girlfriend is arrested with his drugs, he panics and puts out a failed hit on her in prison. Santana shows that under his calm and collected demeanor is someone who cares only about himself and would step on anyone who gets in his way.
  • Iron Man: Steel Terror: Ultron himself starts off by having the reprogrammed Tess-One steal synthetic vibranium, a substance which could theoretically make any other substance indestructible. He uses the vibranium on himself and Tess-One, as well as on robotic copies of himself. This is only a precursor to his ultimate plan: He has androids steal nuclear ore—other thefts are only stopped due to an incarnation of the Avengers—and have his robotic clones use neutron bombs to destroy humanity while leaving everything else intact, leaving Ultron and his clones in control; throughout the book, we get a glimpse of Ultron's thoughts, and he relishes the idea of humanity being wiped out. While he seems to care about his clones, this may in fact be merely narcissism, as once the Avengers manage to destroy them, Ultron, with what would be his final words, declares himself merely "annoyed...a great deal", before taunting Iron Man about destroying him, the rest of the Avengers, and humanity itself.
  • Spider-Man: Global War: Doctor Otto Octavius, aka Doctor Octopus himself, starts his plot to Take Over the World by stealing parts of a secret Department of Defense program which will allow missiles to be launched without revealing the location, Doc Ock uses a rocket to cause an EMP to hit much of the Western Hemisphere, something in itself likely causing countless deaths. This is only for starters. Doc Ock plans to use a second rocket—nuclear-tippled—to strike near the capital of Latveria. Doc Ock has been secretly aiding Latveria's own nuclear program, and, with the help of a Latverian spy whose family he had kidnapped, had been feeding Doctor Doom's paranoia. Once the second rocket strikes near the Latverian capital, Doc Ock predicts Doom—not being able to discover from where the rocket was launched—will respond by firing nukes in all directions. The rest of the world—which, thanks to the EMP, won't be able to communicate with Doom—will have to counter-attack. Doom will lose, but the rest of the world will be devastated. From this, Doc Ock—having taken refuge underground—will emerge as the savior of mankind and its ruler. This version of Doctor Octopus was willing to cause tens of millions of deaths just so he could rule the world.
  • Desperation: Tak, a monstrous, incorporeal entity released from the Desperation mining pits, runs amok in the titular town, gruesomely slaughtering almost everyone who lives there and taking one of the local police as a host. When other people near Desperation, Tak murders one young woman's husband and the Carver family's 7-year-old daughter, before steadily slaughtering the survivors for fun. Realizing that Kirsten's 12-year-old brother David has been sent by God to stop him, Tak stops at nothing to murder the boy after killing his entire family, intending on spreading his influence throughout the world by destroying whatever stands in his path.
  • Carmilla the Series:
    • Baron Vordenberg from season 2 is an elderly Austrian baron who is a member of the Silas Board of Directors. When he is first introduced, he seems to be a kind and friendly man, despite his apparent disdain for vampires. Once Laura gets him voted as the Chairman of the Board, he immediately shows his true colors by ordering a detainment of all vampires and anything supernatural in Silas University. He has some of the students, including Laura's friend Danny—to whom he lies that he will stop after arresting Carmilla and Mattie—recruited into his militia , and preaches anti-vampire propaganda. It is discovered that, despite the potential consequences, he intends to kill Lophiiformes, all to make a name for himself. After killing Lophiiformes, he intends to execute Carmilla and Mattie, along with any students protecting vampires; the attempted arrest indirectly leads to Mattie's death. After he almost callously shoots one of his men, Laura starts a resistance against him. In the battle, he has his henchman Theo betray them and kill Danny. In the finale, he has the other board members shot over the announcements and prepares to behead Carmilla, in front of Laura and their friends, taunting them all to their faces while doing so. Despite his seemingly doddering demeanor, Vordenberg is far more dangerous than meets the eye, his claims of heroism being lies he tells to fuel his ego, not caring who he has to kill to live out his fantasies of personal glory.
    • The Carmilla Movie: Elle Sheridan was a former friend and lover of Carmilla Karnstein, before she learnt Carmilla was a vampire and betrayed her to her mother, who buries Carmilla alive. Later sacrificed to Lopphiformes, Elle plotted revenge against Carmilla, resenting her for having her humanity and mortality restored.
  • Welcome to Halloween Camp: Seamus Pommier is hired by his uncle, the dean of Halloween Camp, as a counselor. Initially seeming to be a mere jerkass, he shows his true colors when he forcefully stops Ron from comforting his brother, Sammy, threatening physical harm on him. This begins his horrendous verbal abuse of the boys in his cabin, his uncle preventing any attempt at intervention. On Halloween night, Seamus first kills another camp counselor before brutally killing three pubescent boys, then pursuing Ron and Sammy when they escape. When he’s confronted by Lizzy, a counselor he is sexually attracted to, he begins to strangle her. When Ron intervenes, kicking him, Seamus tries to tear his jaw off, even as police threaten to shoot him.
  • Augustus Giovanni, the Giovanni Antediluvian, is the most selfish and monstrous of his clan and family. A mortal merchant sired by the Antediluvian Cappadocius, Augustus masterminded the Conspiracy of Isaac to create enough chaos to murder and Diablerize his own sire before exterminating the entire Cappadocian clan. Using his own family to become new members of the Giovanni clan, Augustus left the mortal bloodline intact, crafting his family into incestuous, cannibalistic necromancers who regularly enslave the dead and scheme and backstab for his favor and the honor of being Embraced (turned into a vampire). Desiring to supplant God himself, Augustus enslaves countless wraiths to eventually destroy the Shroud and cause the world to be utterly overrun by the dead so he can enslave both the living and the dead and become the unquestioned master of everyone.
  • Nergal, one of the three founders of the Baali bloodline, manages to stick out even by their standards. Almost solely responsible for turning the Baali into a Religion of Evil so vile that they make the Followers of Set seem tame by comparison, Nergal ruled a city in ancient Mesopotamia as a king, and unleashed a plague on his own people in an attempt to awaken a sleeping Eldritch Abomination. Moloch, another of the clan's founders, realized just how bad of an idea this was, and actually sold Nergal out to the other clans in a desperate attempt to stop him. Nergal, of course, survived, attempted the same ritual again, and when that failed, went to the New World and declared himself a God to the Aztec people, who named him "Huitzilopochtli." He went on to establish a particularly brutal practice of blood sacrifice and human sacrifice. When the Lasombra-led Spanish Conquistadors showed up, Nergal casually sold his followers out and went into torpor beneath what is now Mexico City, where he remains to this day. Even in the present, the surviving descendants of Moloch seek to stop Nergal and his descendants from breaking the world by creating Hell on Earth. How bad Nergal is can be demonstrated by the fact that nearly half of a bloodline universally regarded as the most malevolent in the entire setting thinks he's a menace and needs to be stopped.
  • Sujigarano Akumaro shows that a Villain can take a show to even darker levels even if it was already fairly dark to begin with. The Gedoushu at large wanted to create enough anguish to cause the Sanzu River to rise high enough to flood the world of the living, thus enabling their incursion thereof. Akumaro, on the other hand, wanted to open a portal to Hell because he wanted to enjoy absolute human suffering—even though said opening would destroy both the human world and the Sanzu River. He also made Fuwa Juzo's sword from Juzo's dead parents, whom he murdered himself. His monstrosity extends to even the Ayakashi who serve under him; they seem specifically made to cause as much suffering as possible in order to further his goal which was to use the suffering of people as a wedge into one of six precise points along a line, at the center of which was a portal to Hell for his sinister purpose.
  • Fuwa Juzo was a remorseless Blood Knight to the point that even his fellow Gedoushu wouldn't trust him; he even only became a Gedoushu in the first place so that he could keep killing in spite of his sickness. Akumaro saw potential in him for his ability to walk the line between humanity and the Gedoushu and sought to use him to open the gates of Hell. However, he throws a sharp wrench into the plan, declaring that he already knew that his sword made by Akumaro was made of his parents—a fact which Akumaro had recently told him to bring him to a Despair Event Horizon—and that he didn't care.
  • Lord Ginis is an alien being made entirely of countless Moebas. Hating that he's made of inferior creatures, Ginis creates the Deathgaliens to serve him and participate in the Blood Games by committing planetary genocide across space, simply For the Evulz; 99 planets have been previously destroyed, one of which was the homeworld of his minion, Cubaru. When the Deathgaliens set their sites on Earth for the 100th planet and manage to cause great pain to others, Ginis one-ups them by creating a shrinking barrier around the earth that would destroy everything it touched if it wasn't shut down—although Ginis would activate a planet-destroying robot even if the barrier were stopped. Manipulating and brainwashing the friendless Misao Mondo(u) into painfully becoming the evil Zyuoh The World, while infusing him with the spirits of three Zyuman he had killed, and hiring the vile Hunter Bangray/Bunglay to play and make the game more interesting. After Cubaru betrays him as vengeance for destroying his homeworld, Ginis easily defeats and spares him, but only to amuse himself by watching Cubaru hysterically destroy everything in a vain attempt to please him. Once all but he and his minion Naria are dead, he chooses to end the Blood Game in a twistedly glorious way; he'd inject his cells into the Earth's core, destroying it from the inside and empowering himself in the process. When the Zyuohgers learn his secret and unintentionally reveal it to his servant Naria, who declares her sympathy and loyalty to him even if he's made of lowly Moebas, he kills her off, not wanting any compassion for his condition. A desire to prove himself as the ultimate being in the universe and a love of witnessing violence motivate Ginis in his conquest, and even his Freudian Excuse proves to be a mere contributor to his selfish ego and Lack of Empathy.
Chikyuu Sentai Fiveman
  • Vulgyre serves as the true antagonist. A plant-like alien who once coveted the hand of Princess Meadow, after she refused him, he took her life. Later impersonating her, he would use her as his figurehead, creating the Galactic Imperial Army Zone with the purpose of destroying 1000 inhabited planets with the hope of becoming immortal and the God of the Milky Way. After succeeding in destroying 999, he made his way to Earth to complete his goal. He forcefully transformed his general Doldora and her subordinate into a mindless monster after they discovered the truth about him and refused to continue working for him. He helped turn Chevalier into a killer to corrupt his soul with the blood of his victims, with the purpose of killing him off later to gain a power-up. Later becoming Galactic Super Beast Vulgyre, he launched an attack on the city and it was shown that he had kept the soul of Meadow from moving on just so he could have her for himself. Vulgyre is obsessed with pleasing only himself, uncaring to the countless innocents whose lives that he took and has one of the highest body counts in the history of the franchise.
Kamen Rider Blade: In the battle royale to become the dominant species, many competitors had good qualities, but these two only care about themselves and crossed the ultimate line in an attempt to achieve victory:
  • Hiroshi Tennoji serves as the series' true Big Bad and absolutely reeks of obsession for self-preservation and world domination by any means necessary. As the head of BOARD, he creates the Battle Fight by releasing the Undead and manipulating his contracted Kamen Riders to take them out. As the battle progressed, he invented the Trials and the Titan Undead, all so he could buy himself time to create Kerberos, an artificial Undead with DNA from all 53 Undead that could surpass the Black Joker itself. Tennoji's invention kills the entire BOARD staff upon being born from the Stone of Sealing before he seals the artificial Undead to create a new Change Card. He uses the card to transform into Kerberos II before revealing his dream: to create a new world order with himself as its ruler. Wishing to remake the world under him, his actions would produce countless tragedies throughout the series.
  • Isaka/Peacock Undead exemplifies how low manipulative bastards can go. As the first Category Jack Undead, he designed Rider System 3, a belt that allows the user to transform into Kamen Rider Leangle. Unfortunately, that same belt requires using an improperly sealed Ace card that contains the Spider Undead, meaning that its user would be mentally enslaved by the Undead (as later seen with Mutsuki). After designing the corrupted Rider System, he brainwashed many people that he was going to use as expendable slaves to create his "Ultimate Rider". When this plan failed, Isaka turns his attention to Sakuya Tachibana and attempts to retrieve him as a prototype user. Isaka knows about Tachibana's subconscious fear and takes advantage of it to curbstomp him. Isaka tricks his defeated opponent to getting addicted to Schuld Ketsner seaweed, lying that the aggression-inducing plant would eliminate fear. When Tachibana's girlfriend Sayoko notices her lover's addiction, Isaka smugly kills her for attempting to clean up her lover.
Buffy the Vampire Slayer (both the TV series and the comic)
  • Caleb, from season 7's last five episodes, is a defrocked priest turned Serial Killer of young women, who uses the trust that people have in him to get closer to his victims, before torturing and killing them. In his first appearance, he guts one of the Potential Slayers and leaves her at the side of the road, as a message for Buffy. He then kills another one of the girls during a battle, mangles the arm of another, and puts out Xander's eye, cracking bad jokes the entire time. He also coordinates the actions of the Bringers, organizing the bombing of the Watcher Council's headquarters (resulting in most of their deaths), arranging the assaults on numerous Potentials, and trying to have Faith killed while she was in prison. A misogynistic sadist, who believes that all women are whores and deserve what he does to them, Caleb is The First Evil's right-hand man, and lives for the oncoming apocalypse, seeing the end of the world as a way to dispose of all those who do not share his mad religious convictions.
  • Simone Doffler, the Big Bad of season 9, initially started out as a rebellious Slayer who didn't see the value of the lives of others and believes that Slayers are superior to normal people, and therefore should rule over them. In an attempt to soften her she was put under the watch of Andrew Wells, hoping to soften her; instead she goes rogue and steals a demon to use as a weapon and asks Buffy to turn over Andrew, who she wants to kill since he annoyed her. She also led a small but growing army of rogue slayers who set up base on a small island, where Simone beat up an old woman who gave them food and shelter. Simone's gang would later commit acts of terrorism, including raiding a military base and killing their general, relishing in the fearsome reputation it gave the slayers. Later Simone learned of the zompires, and plotted to find a way to become one and keep her mind intact, for the sole sake of killing Buffy, with which she has become obsessed. To experiment, she feeds her own followers to them. When she learns Buffy's sister Dawn is dying, she manipulates their friend Xander with a chance to save her by finding the deeper well. Her true intention was to awaken the Old One, Maloker, so that he would sire her into a vampire.
  • White House Press Secretary Joanna Wise, the Big Bad of season 11, is a seemingly unassuming, primary orchestrator of the Supernatural Crisis Act, and the hidden mastermind behind the Pandora Project. Enhancing herself with cybernetics and magic, Wise summoned a Chinese storm dragon, setting it loose on San Francisco along with a giant tsunami, levelling half the city and killing thousands of people. The backlash of this results in nationwide spread of tensions and hate crimes against any magical beings and even people practicing Wicca. The government cracks down on any use of magic and eventually has them all forcibly detained in a giant interment camp called the "Safe Zone", where when asked about possible human rights violations, Wise responds by asking if they even count as human. Many detainees are put to work in creating a magic draining device, with the plan being to drain magic from anyone who has it, even though many species require magic to function and even survive. Following a breakout of the Safe Zone, Wise has a town wiped out in order to frame an army of escaped vampires to entice more tensions between both sides, killing 2,000 thousand more people. When Buffy, Spike, Willow and Faith investigate the Pandora Project, they discover they are conducting experiments on animals and even people to make a brainwashed army, by there are plans to launch satellite devices to drain magic en masse across the world. Wise reveals herself to be the orchestrator of these events, revealing her deranged megalomania and her ultimate goal is the be the ruler of a world without magic as the only one with access to it. During her fight with Buffy, she sets loose the dragon on San Francisco once again to distract Willow, before deciding to drain the dragon's magic for her own, asking why it should have all the fun.

I'll concur to wait and see on Brenner and the Mind Flayer. I recall thinking if Brenner didn’t go as far as to have another child killed just to fake Will’s death, he probably doesn’t count, but that’s not really disqualifying just because among awful possible things to do, that’s one less thing he did.

BTW, for Braddock, I'm changing the pothole from General Ripper to Insane Admiral, as it doesn't seem like he was obsessed with a particular enemy as opposed to just psychotic.

[up]So that's what the difference is, as I was wondering when you changed colonel zol from General Ripper to Insane Admiral

Yeah, I think that's probably one of the more common similar-but-different trope misuses. Heck, I'm sure I've been guilty of that myself. Basically, I think all General Rippers are Insane Admirals, but not the other way around.

OK, just finished watching a television series. Dead of Summer is a 2016 horror series taking place in a fictional camp known as Camp Stillwater. Taking place towards the end of the 80s, the camp is run by some counselors: one is named Jessie Tyler (your stereotypical Alpha Bitch at first); Blair, a Camp Gay man; Andrew a transexual; Joel (the stereotypical black nerd); Alex a Russian Jerk Jock; Cricket, Blairs' best friend; Blotter; and Amy Hughes. While running the camp, dark secrets are learned about the camp that range from centuries ago.

Who is she?

Amy Hughes is a counselor at Camp Stillwater. To describe her, Amy is nice, very outgoing, and sociable. Ever since the death of her family she felt that she wasn't able to fit in, especially after her only friend Margo died because of an accident at a party. In the end, it comes down to her goal being I Just Want to Have Friends.

Too bad that is far from the truth.

What has she done?

I guess I'll start from the beginning. When she was younger, Amy was mistreated by her family. Her parents were neglectful, and her brother bullied her, smugly saying that their parents were going to send her to live with their grandmother. Eventually, this culminates in Amy accidentally killing her brother's pet rat by putting it into the garbage disposal. Later on, her brother tricks her into the garage, and locks her in. The next morning, firemen arrive to the home, informing her that her family had died due to carbon monoxide poisoning that was brought on when the fireplace flue was closed seemingly by accident. Though, of course, it turns out that this was Amy's doing.

Amy found herself in foster home to foster home until she eventually met Margo and befriends her. Around that time, Amy arrives to Camp Stillwater, and began to feel a connection with Malphas, a demon that was sealed in the lake by Holyoke and his followers. When Deb informs her that there wasn't a place for her — unless an applicant were to drop out — she convinces Margo to go to a party that evening. When the cops are called, the two run upstairs to hide. Margo tries to escape from the window only to fall through it. Amy grabs her and tells her her intentions before allowing her to fall off the roof to her death. She then pretended to be in deep mourning once the authorities showed up; the only one who had suspicions about the ordeal was Margo's friend Krissy.

OK, now to the main plot. Amy's real goal is to create a pentagram to summon Malphas. To this end, she connives behind the backs of her co-counselors:

  • In the pilot episode Patience, the body of the groundskeeper, Dave is found in the lake. Amy is revealed to have drowned Dave, and uses his body to make the first point of the pentagram.

  • In the second episode of the series ''Barney Rubble Eyes," a counselor named Jason "Blotter" Cohen is fired by Deb for getting high on LSD (which was actually the doing of another counselor). While he's walking alone, he gets ambushed and killed by Amy whilst she's in a masked costume. She decapitates him, and buries his head in another designated spot. However, when she became aware of her being watched by Officer Garrett Sykes, she takes the head, and reburies it.

  • In "How to Survive in the Woods," the counselors take the campers on a trail. During that time, Joel began to get tormented by Holyoke who tells him to kill Amy or someone else would die. Naturally, Joel refuses, and it seems that Holyoke was proven wrong because they were able to save a young girl with asthma. That night, however, Carolina "Cricket" Diaz goes to meet with Alex for a date. Without warning, she is attacked by a masked figure, and is shoved onto a bear trap which crushes her head. As with the aforementioned case, it once again turns out to be Amy. Diaz's death site is then made the third point in the pentagram.

  • In the eighth episode "The Devil Inside," the remaining counselors speculate that Amy had become a vessel based on the events from the last episode. Here, it is also discovered that Holyoke was actually framed for the murders of his congregation. Holyoke tells the counselors that they must get Amy and bring her to him, not so he could kill her, but to exorcise the powerful demon from within her. Officer Garrett concludes that someone was going to get murdered at Eagle Creek based on the pentagram, and the group race there. Just as Amy was about to slice through Alex's neck, the group stops her. She goes to put the knife down...but then stabs Joel with it, killing him. Amy is apprehend, and she is taken back to the cabin for the exorcism.

  • In "Home, Sweet Home," Holyoke tries to call on the Spirits of Light to aid in exorcising Malphas. As he plays on his organ, however, blood began to spew from the lake, seemingly destroying him. Jessie begs Malphas to allow him to use her as a vessel. Jessie is then submerged in the pure water, apparently destroying Malphas. Jessie is saved despite the belief that she would die from the pure water, and Amy asks to have a few minutes to herself (since the camp was to be closed down). When Jessie was unconscious, Amy immediately goes to perform CPR for her....or that is what it seems. Amy actually allows Malphas to reenter into her. Krissy (the girl I mentioned earlier) arrives to the camp to warn Deb about Amy's true nature, only to then be met on the other end of Amy's axe. Amy then kills Deb after admitting that she killed her family.

  • "She Talks to Angels": The remaining counselors try to leave Stillwater only for their car to break down. Amy reveals her true colors to them explaining that Holyoke had inserted a bit of his soul into Jessie so to keep Amy from escaping with Malphas. Alex, Officer Garrett, and Jessie try to escape Amy who reanimates the corpses of the people she killed and sends them out to hunt them down. Garrett receives some glass in the side and demands that Jessie and Alex go on without him. Amy arrives and kills him (but we'll get to that revelation later). Jessie calls the police for assistance. They arrive to the camp, and one notices Amy seemingly crying. Later on, Alex and Jessie are called outside by an officer...but it's immediately revealed it was just Amy mimicking the voice of one of the officers that she had killed. Alex attempts to fight Amy off, but he gets stricken by the axe. With Jessie being the only survivor, she races back to Holyoke's cabin. Thankfully, Drew and Blair arrive just in time along with Officer Garrett. They try to blockade the doors to keep the reanimated corpses out, and Jessie makes a circle of pure water around Amy. She then tries to play a recording of Holyoke's organ music, but it was tainted by Amy when she touched it. Fortunately for them, they remember a recording that Joel made. They use it, and it weakens Malphas and the reanimated corpses. Jessie is able to grab a hold of Amy's axe, and she slams it deep into Amy's skull. The blood from Amy's wound collects into a canteen while Holyoke's soul is able to purify the lake. Jessie then learns that Garrett actually didn't survive his encounter with Amy, and that he is bound to the camp. She leaves with Drew and Blair while Garrett reunites with his father.

Freudian Excuse? Mitigating factors?

I will admit that Amy's backstory is pretty bad. Her being neglected by her parents and her brother bullying her doesn't do her any better. With that being said, it goes to show Amy as a complete psychopath who didn't think twice about poisoning her family. With Margo, when she first came to camp, she broke down when she laments on how she wasn't able to save her. However, she was only doing so in order to garner sympathy from the other counselors so that they wouldn't suspect a thing when she killed them.

As for Malphas, she is fanatically devoted to the demon due to how she felt that he was the only one who "understood her." Beyond that, she mainly wanted to be more powerful. With her being possessed than repossessed by Malphas, she was still in control of her actions. If anything, she became even more Ax-Crazy than she already was.

Heinous standard

She sets it. With any other antagonists from the series, there's Malphas. However, Malphas lacks characterization and only psychically appears a few times. His moral agency is also suspect.

Then there's the satanists. Besides them being a group, none have enough characterization to stand out. The leader is actually a sheriff named Boyd Heelan. Going by the alias of "the Teacher," Boyd only commits one murder, that being the death of Garret's father. Other than that, he doesn't do anything else to stand out.

Conclusion

Thoughts?

It's been a while. At least 60 CM candidates has to be a record. Odd the mods never got the other batch from last week.

So how many CM's did Assassin's Creed Origins have?

She kills a total of 16 people. As for some of the "sympathy." She uses it to manipulate others. If anything, those flashbacks she has about her life are there to reminisce about how she later learned about Malphas. Besides that, there's also the implication that resurrecting Malphas would result in a cataclysmic event.

The only thing I can really say on Amy is that she is far from the only one who had abusive parents in the show. One mother forces her own daughter to take the fall for her when she was drunk driving thus ruining her chance at attending college. Another mother continually tried to force her child to act like a girl and ultimately leaves because she didn't want to believe that the illusion was gone. The other characters went through traumatizing things, but they never became psychopathic from it.

Yea there.

I have an unfortunate cut: From the film Stakeland, OE and I rewatched it recently. As bad as the central villain, Reverend Jebediah Loven is, he has a clear redeeming quality ans is furious when the heroes kills his son for trying to rape someone, openly mourning said son and keeps this love even after becoming a vampire (Declaring he'll take a 'son for a son' on trying to kill the hero Mister's surrogate son Martin).
