Nice Hat is just a list of hats Tropers like. Last time, Nice Hat was discussed on the Appearance thread a few years ago, we decided to create Signature Headgear for headwear that has some form of significance to the character, their design and/or the story, so Nice Hat has no ground to exist anymore as a trope.I conducted a wick check (with help from Yindee and Orbiting to see how Nice Hat was being used. Predictably, most examples fell under the "nice hat/just a hat" category. Most of the examples with context fell under Signature Headgear, Never Bareheaded and other hat tropes.

- Calvinball: The British show Green Wing gives us Guyball, which features all the quirks of jai alai, basketball, and Eton College's Wall Game, plus a really funny hat.. (pothole)

- Characters.Dream SMP Quackity: Quackity is almost universally portrayed with his iconic beanie (pothole), similar to his real-life appearance.
- Kamen Rider Zi-O: Another Riders:Has one resembling a graduation cap embedded on his head, where he stores the knowledge he steals from others from.
- Characters.Justified Detroit Mob: A darker, smaller version of Raylan's hat to show the Good vs Evil conflict.

Because all it says is "Appropriately, she wears a nice deerstalker hat just like the source of inspiration for her character design.". I see it more as an example of Signature Headgear instead, due to her main profession (bar idol), and the aforementioned 'source of inspiration'. If it doesn't fit under that trope, then might as well delete it, should we?

How is that idea different from Hat of Power (which Goggles Do Something Unusual links to in its related to section)? Any hat doesn't something extraordinary is usually filed under that trope.

Shouldn't Robe and Wizard Hat be added to the trope list in the Nice Hat page as well? Or is it already covered as a subtrope within the tropes listed there?
Plenty of Nice Hat links I've seen so far simply say lines like "this character wears a nice wizard hat, which makes sense because they are a stereotypical wizard". I wasn't sure what to do with those yet, so I left them as-is for now.

Yeah, Nice Hat can be a disambig, but maybe we could tackle the Nice Shoes out of this thread. Perhaps there could be another trope called Signature Shoes where it relates more to the character's personality, fashion or appearance. Examples that relate more to the trope could be moved there. Also, I've been looking on the Wide Check.

To elaborate on this, it's not OK to leave wicks behind like that because wicks to disambiguation pages are only allowed on Ambiguity Index and archived pages.

For what reasons and purpose that once specifically should be checked, and what are you suggesting to do with it if it's to be removed regardless? 103 random wicks were checked out of about 10600, there's no meaning to have 104.
