"I loved watching this show when I was wee even though I had no clue what they were saying. It was all about the giant foam numbers!"
"Never! It was all about Donnie's hats."
YouTube comment regarding the programme.

Dòtaman ("Spinning Top" in English) was a Gaelic-language kids' show hosted by folk singer Donnie MacLeod and others such as Cathy MacDonald and Anna Murray. It ran sporadically from 1985 onward on BBC Two Scotland. A lot of Scottish Nineties kids remember it despite not knowing any Gaelic themselves. A useful cultural comparison for Tropers across The Pond can be found in the Chespirito series; just as the antics of El Chavo and El Chapulin Colorado seemed to English speakers to be "always on" the Spanish-speaking channels, so too did Dòtaman seem to dominate the Gaelic timeslots of BBC Scotland.
