Protagonist

    Raen

Voiced by: Jacob Wilson

The protagonist of the story. He is an orphan from Aurelia Cavella who embarks on a journey after his exile from home.
  • Calling the Old Man Out: He calls his father Caspian out for wanting to bail out when Lucius took over Sid Caeham, saying that it reflects badly on his reputation as a charismatic hero who cares for the world around him.
  • Cool Big Bro: To the orphans in Aurelia Cavella, whom he had a hand in raising.
  • Empathic Healer: After a wolf attacked Fawn, Raen later blacked out and transferred Fawn's wound to himself. This happens a second time with Illran after his injury from his fight against Lucius. He practices his power with Aemyl's help and learns that he can also transfer his own pain to other people.
  • Fish out of Water: Having been sheltered in an orphanage and taught that Aurelia Cavella is the only civilization in the world, he has no clue about how things in the outside world function.
  • Friend to All Children: He enjoys helping the younger kids in the orphanage, who look up to him as a big brother figure.
  • Hearing Voices: Since leaving Aurelia Cavella, a female voice talks to him when he sleeps. He doesn't hear them in the Amaranth Forest due to the lingering presence of a fallen god. He hears the voice one last time in Sid Caeham before he stops hearing them, and later learns that this comes with being a future Speaker.
  • Horrible Judge of Character: He trusts people very easily, including seedy ones from the surface.
  • Mark of the Supernatural: He has markings in an unknown script on his arm since his eighteenth birthday. They indicate that he will be the next Speaker.
  • Parental Abandonment: He was abandoned in an orphanage due to a poor Judgement. Or so he was told.
  • Really Royalty Reveal: He's the son of Caspian, the Crown Prince of Aurelia Cavella, thus making him royalty.
  • Supernatural Gold Eyes: Amber eyes and destined to be the next Speaker.
  • What Is This Thing You Call "Love"?: He didn't know what love was until Fawn explained it to him.
  • You Wouldn't Shoot Me: If he follows Leos at the forest lake, the latter will push him to the ground and stick his dagger in front of his throat. He simply says Leos wouldn't kill him when asked what makes him so special that the latter will spare him.

Love Interests

    Fawn

Voiced by: Nick Chang

A lone inhabitant of the woods surrounding Aurelia Cavella.
  • Apologizes a Lot: He has a habit of apologizing to others even when the person he apologizes to wronged him in the first place.
  • Badass Adorable: Despite his sweet nature, he can put up a good fight against bandits.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: When provoked too much, he goes berserk and murderous, as Cyne eventually learns in the Amaranth Forest. Leos remarks that he's a formidable fighter in his own right.
  • Cain and Abel: The Abel to his sister Ani. Even after her attempt to kill him, he still felt worried for her, even forgiving her after Lucius' defeat.
  • Cloudcuckoolander: Spending years in the forest with animals more or less causes him to talk about things that make no sense.
  • Easily Forgiven: Titus quickly forgives him even if he was technically responsible for the fire that burned down their hometown.
  • Friend to All Living Things: He enjoys the company of animals, whom he regards as his friends.
  • I Am a Monster: He considers himself as such for burning Cliffspire to the ground and killing many, hence why he lived alone in the woods for the next ten years and was initially reluctant to reciprocate Raen's feelings for him.
  • Its Pronounced Tropay: His real name Aden is pronounced AH-duhn.
  • Massively Numbered Siblings: He grew up with seven older sisters.
  • Meaningful Rename: After fleeing his hometown, he changed his name from Aden after seeing an orphaned fawn in the forest.
  • Nice Mean And In Between: The nice to Cyne's mean and Leos' in-between.
  • Playing with Fire: He reveals this ability in his romance route, when Ani was about to kill him. According to Morwen, this is because one of his ancestors was a god.
  • Self-Made Orphan: His father died in the fire he accidentally caused, and his mother was Driven to Suicide afterwards.
  • Semi-Divine: He's a demigod due to one of his ancestors being a god, hence his ability to conjure fire.
  • Strong Family Resemblance: His sister Ani looks very much like him but with longer hair.
  • Stronger Than They Look: Despite his slender build, he can trek around the woods without breaking a sweat for hours, climb trees like a pro, and tackle armed men with his bare arms. He even beats Leos in arm wrestling.
  • Tranquil Fury: When he's angry, he usually talks in a calm tone and a deadpan expression. He drops the tranquil part in the Amaranth Forest.
  • Where I Was Born and Razed: He accidentally razed his hometown Cliffspire in his sleep.
  • You Gotta Have Blue Hair: He has light blue hair, which he shares with his sister Ani.

    Leos

Voiced by: Jonah Scott, Amanda Hufford (as a child)

An assassin hired to track down Raen.
  • Butt-Monkey: He gets into various sorts of amusing trouble, such as being chased around by girls and eating a meal made from a cow's head, stomach, and feet. In Cyne's route, he arm wrestles with Fawn and loses every time.
  • Chick Magnet: At Stagwich, he catches the attention of the local girls who chase him around, much to his dismay.
  • Children Forced to Kill: He was trained to be an assassin by his family, and one of his assignments was to kill baby Raen.
  • The Comically Serious: He's often in comical situations, yet remains serious in them.
  • Deadpan Snarker: There is rarely a moment when he doesn't say anything sarcastic.
  • First Guy Wins: He's the first love interest Raen encounters since the latter was a baby.
  • Flechette Storm: He carries daggers he throws as projectiles.
  • History Repeats: His family crest is the crest of Sid Caeham's old royal guard. Since Raen is technically part of Aurelia Cavellan royalty and therefore related to Sid Caeham royalty, this means Leos is unwittingly carrying his lineage's tradition of protecting royalty in his romance route.
  • Hypocrite: He taught Raen that playing dirty during a fight is important, only to call Sylvir out for doing the same thing when they were sparring.
  • In the Blood: He was born to a family of assassins, who were all given similar Judgements, and any children who received different ones were disowned.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: He's a snarky assassin with little patience for Raen and Fawn's naivete, but he also cares about their wellbeing enough to tag along with them when searching for Caspian.
  • Just Following Orders: He claimed to be merely following orders to track down Raen.
  • Nice Mean And In Between: The in-between to Fawn's nice and Cyne's mean.
  • Rescue Romance: He saved Raen's life as a baby by taking him to Matron Aralla's care despite being told to kill him.
  • Scars Are Forever: He has scars all over his body that never fade away. He got one on his arm from a knife fight, and the ones on his back came from whippings when he made mistakes.
  • Stupid Sexy Flanders: In Stagwich, a group of girls crowded around him because of his hair and outfit.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Macarons, first given to him by Illran's mother as a child.
  • Walking the Earth: After Lucius' defeat, he decides to travel around for soul-searching if not romanced.
  • What Is This Thing You Call "Love"?: Like Raen, he grew up in Aurelia Cavella, where love is an unknown concept because the Speaker matches two people together.

    Cyne/Lord Cynaculous

Voiced by: Edward A. Mendoza

A young nobleman who tags along with Raen at Oxhabor.
  • All of the Other Reindeer: The other nobles of Sid Caeham treat him like an outcast, even calling him an "embarrassment".
  • Bullying a Dragon: He often teases Fawn, causing the latter to try to kill him in the Amaranth Forest.
  • Camp Gay: He has a very flamboyant and occasionally melodramatic way of speaking.
  • Clothing Damage: According to Ashe, he's prone to this, such as getting seven clothes damaged in a short span of time.
  • The Gadfly: He loves saying things that provoke other people, whether it's about Fawn or Leos.
  • I Am Not My Mother: He insists that he and his mother are nothing alike despite the Strong Family Resemblance.
  • Last Guy Wins: He's the last love interest Raen meets.
  • Lonely Rich Kid: After witnessing his parents' loveless marriage and his mother's mistreatment of him, he becomes convinced that all nobles are like that and pushes others away for fear of betrayal.
  • Loveable Sex Maniac: He's very flirty and enjoys having sex at any opportunity, but he's willing to help his companions, such as paying for their accommodation at a luxurious inn.
  • Nice Mean And In Between: The mean to Fawn's nice and Leos' in-between.
  • Sour Outside, Sad Inside: His habit of mocking others is his way of pushing others away before they could befriend him. A few people managed to do this, such as Ashe. This is attributed to the backstabbing, lying, and cheating he has witnessed among nobility like his parents since his childhood, jading his perception of love.
  • Tempting Fate: After mentioning stories of people going on murderous rages in the Amaranth Forest, he decides to go through it anyway, believing that everyone will be fine.
  • Troubled, but Cute: The pressure to conform to a cutthroat aristocratic social circle has jaded his view of humanity.
  • "Well Done, Son" Guy: He is trained from a young age to behave a certain way and never bring shame to his family, yet no matter how hard he tries, his mother never approves of him.

  • I Lied: He lied about Raen having a poor Judgement when in truth, Raen will become the next Speaker.
  • Like a Son to Me: Seen as such by the previous Divine Speaker, Lucius. Or so he thinks.

  • Rose-Haired Sweetie: He has peach hair and is much nicer than Illran.
  • Those Two Guys: With Illran.
  • Who Wants to Live Forever?: Discusses this with Illran. It doesn't help that he'll have to watch Illran die while he's still alive. Subverted in the end if he accepts his love for Illran, giving him a newfound purpose in life.
