Elevator NPCS

These characters are NPCS that will enter the elevator, upon reaching the floor they spawn in.

    Bive
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/bive.png
"Something lurks here, I know it.. I KNOW IT!"
A paranoid conspiracy theorist and self-appointed detective.
  • Conspiracy Theorist: She is one, and she'll constantly babble about her theories to anyone within proximity.
  • Humanoid Abomination: She's made completely out of hair, save for her eyes and brain, and her species is stated to be "lab accident".
  • Nervous Wreck/The Paranoiac: She's an extremely paranoid conspiracy theorist, and doesn't seem quick to trust people.
  • Official Couple: Downplayed example - it's confirmed that she has reciprocated feelings for Split, but neither have actually started the relationship yet.
  • Talkative Loon: Her theories always end up sounding odd and irrational.

    DrRETRO
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/drretro.png
"Nuh uh uh!"
A yellow cat head who's always smiling.

    FleshCousin
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/fleshcousin.png
"It's my birthday!"
A species of shapeshifter who often says weird and nonsensical sentences.
  • Accidental Suicide: If they arrive at The Subway", they'll stand in the train tracks until they get hit by a train because they think that's how you're supposed to board it.
  • Benevolent Monsters: They're certainly bizarre, but they're not malicious - the shapeshifting is just an instinctual defense mechanism.
  • Doppelgänger: In-game, they take the form of one of the players.
  • Talkative Loon: They will say things that make no sense, making other NPCS that might be in the room confused and/or uncomfortable.
"What likes do the rakes make while baking the cake?" - One of their idle lines

    Gnarpy
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/gnarpy.png
"Kindnezz will get you nowhere, zorp."
A mean, cat-like alien who believes xe is above everyone else.
  • Aliens Speaking English: Not just English, xe also knows some Japanese, as xe is able to understand some of Pest's dialogue.
  • Badass Arm-Fold: Xyr pose while in the elevator has xem fold their upper set of arms over xyr chest.
  • Green and Mean: Gnarpy has lime-green fur, and xe is the meanest NPC in the game, being a Jerkass to the other NPCs and not giving a single care about what xe did to Spud.
  • Jerkass: Xe is a self-centered alien who only cares for xemself, which makes xem make many rude comments about other NPCs.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Jerk: Xe initially seems to be neutral towards Prototype in one of xyr interactions with him, but in another interaction, xe calls him a "useless machine" and presumably swears at him in the gnarpian language when Prototype said he could be a universal translator.
  • Multi-Armed and Dangerous: Xe has 4 arms, keeping the lower pair folded behind xyr back when riding the elevator.
  • Non-Human Non-Binary: Xe is referred to using neo-pronouns, indicating xe is outside of a gender binary.
  • Non-Standard Character Design: Xe looks notably different from the rest of the NPCs, not having a blocky R6 build on xyr model.
  • Palette Swap: Whenever xe spawns, xyr armor will mostly be in a different color instead of xyr usual red.
  • Token Evil Teammate: Of all NPCs in the game, xe is the only one who is genuinely mean towards others, being a Jerkass to the rest of the NPCs and made Spud into the thing he is now. It's even officially stated that "xe's a little evil".

    Infected
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/infected_8.png
"R0uND 0F 4pPlau5e 4 teh B3sT Sk4t3r Evr!11!"
A Robloxian from an old Roblox roleplaying game.
  • Break the Cutie: If the elevator is full or if MR is in the elevator, and you land on Infected Apartment, Infected begins crying and running back to his room.
  • Keet: He seems to be really happy and excitable.
  • Leet Lingo: All of his dialogue is delivered in leetspeak.
  • Meaningful Name: He was infected by a virus he got from a free model, which changed his name to Infected. He can also infect other players, turning one or more of their parts pink.
  • Real Men Wear Pink: He wears a "Tough Guys Wear Pink" shirt.
  • Symbol Swearing: One of his "conversations" with Unpleasant has his message get filtered and replaced with pound symbols, followed by a "[Content Deleted]" message.
  • Token Human: Out of every NPC that can enter the elevator, he is the closest thing to a human by virtue of being a standard Roblox character.

    Jermbo
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/jermbo.png
Jermbo.
A cat.

    Lampert
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/lampert.png
"i enjoy the simplicity of remaining entirely still for days at a time."
A living lamp who likes staying clean.

    Mannequin Mark
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mannequin_mark.png
"Hey Jim."
A sentient mannequin with a southern accent.
  • Animate Inanimate Object: Mark is one of several sentient mannequins.
  • Berserk Button: If you have the effects of the Wet Cement/gray stuff after drinking it and you get too close to Mark, he punches you.
  • Noodle Incident: He managed to get banned from the Red Ball Diner due to, as Bive put it, "sobbing about some wall".
  • Palette Swap: There is a chance that his hat will be green instead of his usual yellow.

    MR
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mr_6.png
Fallen gods have fallen legacies.
A gray rock, who will prevent any other NPCS from entering the elevator while it's inside.
  • Animate Inanimate Object: It's a sentient rock that can turn to stare at players and has a few evil powers.
  • Beyond the Impossible: Despite being a circular rock without limbs, it somehow managed to drink and drive.
  • Fallen God: Heavily implied to have been one as said by a graffiti in Happy Home, and the fact Word of God confirms it to be a corpse.
  • Godzilla Threshold: Its presence crosses Mach's own threshold, as she will personally Banhammer it if the elevator arrives at OFFICE OF.
  • Hated by All: If an NPC attempts to enter the elevator while MR is in it, they will refuse to enter. Even Mach, who normally stays neutral outside of her tests or self-defense, feels the need to kill MR if it shows up near her office.
  • Nothing Is Scarier: When it does appear, it's terrifying to the start. At certain points it'll randomly cut off the lights and stare at someone, and any NPCs in the elevator with it might get set on fire. It's not hard to see why it's Hated by All...

    PartyNoob
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/partynoob.png
"im so so excited for this party i have for tomorrow, and the day after, and the day after that."
A noob who loves to party.

    Pest
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/pest.png
"こんにちは ! 今日は素敵な日です。"
A cross between a Roblox Guest and a stag beetle, who can steal from you.
  • Gadgeteer Genius: Pest actually has a surprisingly strong passion for engineering, as some of his idle comments relate to building mechanisms, and he'll comment on how the Reddy animatronic could be improved.
  • Gratuitous Japanese: Pest has a tendency to insult whatever NPC he is talking to in Japanese so they won't understand what he's saying. The shirt he wears is also the Guest shirt, but translated into Japanese.
  • Jerkass: He's not quite on Gnarpy's level, but he's frequently rude to other passengers and is one of the only NPCs with detrimental effects on the player.
  • Meaningful Name: He's a Guest (with Guests having had a reputation among Roblox users for griefing and bothering others) who's also a beetle, a type of insect.
  • Not So Above It All: Despite his antisocial behavior, he'll excitedly leave the elevator to join the party in "Happy Home Party".
  • Shout-Out: When he steals your coins, he makes the laughing sound from Work at a Pizza Place, another Roblox game.
  • Sitcom Arch-Nemesis: He has a one-sided rivalry with PartyNoob and Unpleasant.
  • Token Evil Teammate: One of the developers describes Pest as being "VERY evil!", and he's the only NPC other than MR to willfully negatively affect players without provocation, something that not even Gnarpy does.
  • Video Game Cruelty Punishment: Spraying him 40 times will cause him to (in Japanese) demand the offending player empty their pockets and steal coins from them.

    Pilby
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/pilby.png
"Maybe I'm just not cut out for the clown life. :o("
A sad caterpillar clown, who recently got fired from their job.

    Prototype
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/prototype_4.png
"This is so fun! I love it here!"
A colorful robot made by a shut down company.
  • Cute Machine: An adorable and friendly robot at best.
  • Driven to Suicide: If the elevator is full, or if MR is in the elevator, Prototype commits suicide by jumping off the platform he was on.
  • Morality Pet: He's such a sweetheart, that even Gnarpy is (initially) neutral towards him.
  • Robot Buddy: He's pretty much this to the players riding the elevator, being a friendly robot who can grab mystery crates on certain floors.

    RAT
The giant rat that makes all of the rules. Has a very rare chance of infesting your elevator.

    Reddy
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/reddy.png
"Red Ball has been established W-W-WORLDWIDE!”
An animatronic from the Red Ball Diner. It gets a bit quirky at night.

    Scag
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/scagcore.png
"the friendfilled visitmaxxer"
The mechanical merchant of the Floppy Shoppy. With Prototype's help, she can board the elevator.
  • Eccentric A.I.: She's got an odd way of speaking with a lot of quirks to it, especially compared to Prototype.
  • Strange-Syntax Speaker: She talks like a forum user, using words smashed together (like "curioushead" and "personbeing") and appending -maxxing to the end of some nouns and verbs.
  • TV Head Robot: She actually is a monitor, situated on a plastic cart with a single mechanical claw.

    Split
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/split.png
"A friend of mine told me that their apples were yellow, and then I was like, "That's bananas!"
A Banana Fruit-Taur who loves to tell jokes.
I thought.. Today would've been funny.. Now its really scary..

    Spud!
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/spud_6.png
"Spud!"
A former Camp Counselor at Two-Stud Camp.
  • Angst Nuke: If provoked enough, Spud! will turn red and explode, killing nearby players and NPCs.
  • Body Horror: He's been utterly mangled by the Gnarpians - his legs are gone, his arms are extra-long, and his mouth has somehow been turned sideways.
  • Verbal Tic Name: He will say his own name in a sentence many times.

    Unpleasant
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/unpleasant.png
this unpleasant gradient shows up at your front door
An unpleasant gradient who shows up at your elevator.
  • The Friend Nobody Likes: Unpleasant is disliked by all the other elevator NPCs, having negative interactions with almost all of them. The only NPC that is neutral at best with it is the FleshCousin, which cannot form a cohorent sentence. However, the NPCs would tolerate Unpleasant over MR.
  • Meaningful Name: It's called Unpleasant and nobody really wants to be around it.
  • Non-Standard Character Design: Most of the elevator NPCs have humanoid designs, but Unpleasant is just a single brick with the gradient texture.
  • The Pig-Pen: Split and Scag implies that Unpleasant smells about as pleasant as it looks.
  • The Quiet One: The only time Unpleasant spoke is when it's leaving the elevator.
"I'm leaving!"
  • The Thing That Would Not Leave: It keeps hanging around Infected, despite the fact that he clearly hates Unpleasant's mere existence.
  • Visible Silence: When in conversations with other NPCs, it replies to them with an ellipsis.

    Wallter
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/wallter.png
"Do you have a love for concrete as well?"
A tall, grey humanoid figure with a love for concrete.
  • Even the Loving Hero Has Hated Ones: Although he's polite, even he dislikes Unpleasant.
  • Gentle Giant: He's the tallest NPC in the game and yet, does not show any hostility towards the player. He even heals you if you have the Wet Cement effect.

    WilliamPlayz57
A hacker who has a chance of showing up every 15 floors to mess around with the elevator's passengers.
  • The Cracker: They're stated to be a hacker who's accessing the place through Roblox Studio with the intent to annoy players.
  • Not-So-Harmless Villain: Most of its effects are, while silly and annoying, usually harmless... unless it decides to spawn a Subspace Tripmine into the elevator, which someone will inevitably wind up setting off and promptly obliterate most of the current passengers.
  • Troll: William shows up in the elevator to troll players by causing a random effect, from turning them all into pretty princesses to repainting the elevator and the NPCs.

Hostile NPCs

These NPCs are hostile and will in some way harm the players on the floor they spawn in.

    Döug
A giant, boxy monster who looks like a possessed TV on legs.
  • Artificial Stupidity: In "Area 51", Döug chases the player in a straight line without regard for obstacles, making it easy to avoid being caught by walking behind one of the cargo crates.
  • Cyclops: Döug only has one single eye.
  • More Teeth than the Osmond Family: It's got some huge sharp teeth in its mouth, and seems to be constantly drooling too.
  • One-Hit KO: In the "Four Corners" floor, it's capable of banishing players in a single touch - while it isn't a kill, it sends them to spectator mode until the floor ends. It loses this property for "Area 51", only causing a warp back to the start of its area and dealing 5 damage (which can actually kill players).

    Scary Mike
A scary guy with three scary eyes who haunts the Funny Maze.

    Clover
A collage of faces that inhabits the Backrooms.
  • Fluffy the Terrible: A mish-mash of various distoeted facial parts who chases and kills people in an out-of-bounds liminal space, who has the non-threatening name of Clover.
  • Ironic Name: Clovers represent luck, with four-leaf clovers in particular granting the best luck. This Clover however, is the exact opposite of luck, and to add to the irony, there can be up to four of him, rendering you and your party extremely unlucky should this happen.
  • Laughing Mad: When Clover spots someone, he starts laughing up a storm while darkening, preparing to rush at his intended target.
  • Uncanny Valley: The faces that make up his appearance were all generated by the "This Person Does Not Exist" AI generation tool.

    TARMITE
A giant speeding wall that doesn't appreciate your presence.
  • Advancing Wall of Doom: Every 10-15 seconds, TARMITE will rush down the hallway and deliver instant death to anyone who isn't in an alcove, before receding to do it again.
  • Boss Warning Siren: When its floor starts, the player's HUD displays a warning label stylized like a STG boss warning, complete with a slow alarm.
  • Nightmare Face: TARMITE sports the "Block Mongler" face from Blockland.

    Jeremy
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/image_2024_03_25_222345303.png
A strange being who likes to kidnap people and play games about saving princesses.
  • Floating Limbs: He has a singular giant hand that doesn't connect to his head.
  • Oh, Crap!: Hitting the button that frees the "princess" causes him to drop his smile as he fades away.

    Garten of BamBam
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/what_one_is_your_favorite.png
guys, what one is your favorite?
A collection of five colorful creatures - JamJam, BamBam, ScaryBlue, Minion, and JumboJoe - who roam the halls of Area 51.
  • Cyclops: They all use the "Block Mongler" face from Blockland, edited to have no nose and a single wide eye.
  • Death of a Thousand Cuts: They can inflict this on players - since contact with them only deals 5 damage, repeatedly getting caught by one of the quintet can eventually kill a player.
  • Expy: Their general motif is riffing on Garten of Banban's characters and characters designs.
  • Odd Name Out: The gang is made up of JamJam, BamBam, ScaryBlue, JumboJoe... and Minion.
  • Palette Swap: They have the same model, but recolored for each one.

    RockMen
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/rockman_no_not_that_one.png
"IF YA SMEEELLLLLL WHAT THE ROCK! IS! COOKIN'!"
Giant boulders stomping around Rock Park, harassing the locals and inviting them to smell what The Rock is cookin'.
  • In a Single Bound: RockMen move by jumping incredibly high into the air.
  • Large Ham: They constantly blurt out one of The Rock's most famous catchphrases, as loud as Roblox's audio will let them do it.
  • One-Hit Kill: A moving RockMan will cause instant death to anyone it collides with.
  • Rock Monster: As the name suggests, RockMen are almost entirely made of rocks with The Rock's head on them.
  • Weaksauce Weakness: Unlike most other hostile NPCs, RockMen can be damaged and killed with... foam darts from the Tiny Foamer.

    Toothy and Toothette
Rolling balls made of teeth who roam underneath the DashCon ballpit, rewarding those brave enough to face them.

    The Cashier
A bored guy on the night shift at the local convenience store, passing the time until his shift ends by playing a little game.
  • Bandit Mook: If the Cashier catches the player holding a snack before they make it to the elevator, he'll take 2 coins from them.
  • Perpetual Smiler: Even when catching someone stealing, he keeps the same friendly smile on his face as he takes away their coins.
  • Shoplift and Die: Downplayed example - whenever the Cashier catches someone stealing, he'll deal a few points of damage to them. It's theoretically possible to die from this, but unlikely in practice.
  • Shout-Out: He actually originates from another roblox game, called Get A Snack At 4AM. The floor he appears in is also a reference to the game.

    glevil
"you. are not. one of us."
A hostile mannequin encountered in a secret area of the lobby.
  • all lowercase letters: Its name is written in all lowercase.
  • Animate Inanimate Object: glevil is one of the many mannequins you see in the secret area in the lobby.
  • Neck Snap: If a player gets too close to the front of glevil, it'll grab them and snap the offending player's neck.

    The Follower
They get closer
A humanoid shadow figure that kills you upon reaching you. They appear when you take a bite out of Buck. Originally from the 2024 April Fools' Day update.

Floor NPCs

These NPCS cannot enter the elevator, but are non-hostile (usually) and can sometimes be interacted with.

    Mach
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/portrait_of.png
"Here we go again."
Last in a line of artificial demigods, Mach is a recurring character who hosts the "X OF" floors, which typically test the player in some way.
  • Bludgeoned to Death: If MR is in the elevator and it arrives at "OFFICE OF", Mach will show up at the elevator door to kill it before returning to her desk.
  • Last-Name Basis: Her full name is Carolina Mach, but the closest the game gets to using the first name is her initials.
  • Mind Screwdriver: Talking to her in "OFFICE OF" reveals a few details regarding the setting of Regretevator.
  • Odd Friendship: She's friends with Pilby, according to her dialogue.
  • Purple Is Powerful: Mach's decked out in a purple suit and top hat, and her name shows up in purple on the spectator screen.
  • Shout-Out: One of her lines in "OFFICE OF" has her mention her visual similiarity to Hat Kid.
  • Video Game Cruelty Punishment: If a player hits her with a thrown object, or sprays her with the Spray Bottle, she'll shoot a bolt of energy at them that instantly introduces them to the stats screen.
  • Worthy Opponent: If a player has cleared both "WALL OF" and "HALL OF", and then interacts with Mach in "OFFICE OF", she'll sincerely congratulate them.

    Gregoriah
A very silly guy who talks to the players on the "Fun Flood at Squishy's" and "FNARB" floors.
  • Cartoon Creature: Gregoriah isn't based on any animal in particular, he's just... Gregoriah.
  • Oh, Crap!: He freaks out when he realizes he accidentally triggered a Squishy flood in "Fun Flood at Squishy's".
  • Voice with an Internet Connection: Gregoriah doesn't physically interact with the players (though he does make a physical appearance in the control room in "Fun Flood at Squishy's"), instead communicating with them over the phone or on a loudspeaker.

    Bugbo
The star of his own webseries, Bugbo needs your help in gathering a sufficient bounty of stones when you arrive to the "Bugbo" floor.
  • Adaptational Nice Guy: Aside from some occasional remarks, Bugbo is a little less condescending on his floor than in his source material.
  • Guest Fighter: He's a guest NPC from Bugbo.
  • Interface Screw: Bugbo causes black bars to obscure the sides of the player's vision (to mimic a 4:3 aspect ratio) and adds one of two watermarks to the top of the screen (either a parody of the HyperCam or Bandicam watermarks) while they're on his floor.

    Enphoso
Owner of Glig Glags and Doo-dads, Enphoso will occasionally try to sell its wares to players.
  • "Have a Nice Day" Smile: Enphoso itself is a giant cartoon smiley.
  • Informed Attribute: Enphoso is stated as being evil, but outside of having a red name in spectator mode and an Implied Death Threat towards potential shoplifters, it doesn't do anything particularly malicious on its floor.
  • Shoplift and Die: Implied. While Regretevator lacks shoplifting mechanics outside of the "Snackcore" floor, Enphoso warns players to not try to steal anything from it, with its voice dropping to a threatening tone.

    Yum Zlurplie and SwibbleDib
The two employees at Glorp n' Go, a respectable Jovian convenience store. Yum Zlurplie mans the counter, while SwibbleDib keeps the floors clean.

    Announcers
Various unseen announcers who host certain floors.

Sab

A sleep-deprived worker who controls the "Button Competition" floor.
  • Bird People: According to his creator, he's an owl-person.
  • Sleepyhead: In one of his floor intros, he falls asleep in the middle of his spiel.

Brock

The emcee of a strange disco dance party above a giant grinder, challenging players to show him their moves, or die.
  • Smarmy Host: Has some shades of this, commenting on how it sucks the winners didn't die if they survive the dance party, and outright mocking them if they completely wipe.
  • Sore Loser: If players survive his floor, he'll grumble about having to pay them or tell them to Get Out!.
  • Token Human: Brock's official art shows him as being a regular human.
