Recurring Characters from Various Games

    The Bride / Bridezilla
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/img_3878_9.jpeg
The Bride as she's seen in "Hot n Cold"
Click here to see her as Bridezilla (from "Sweet But Psycho")
Debut: Just Dance
Main Playable Routines: "Hot N Cold" by Katy Perry, "Sugar" by Maroon 5, "Sweet But Psycho" by Ava Max (as Bridezilla)
Portrayed by: Julia Spiesser ("Hot N Cold"), Shirley Henault ("Sugar"), Marie Surzur ("Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)"), Alexandra Ponomaryova ("Sweet But Psycho")

"You'd never leave me, would you?"

  • Beware the Nice Ones: Her appearance in "Sweet But Psycho" in "2023 Edition" explains it all.
  • The Cameo: In "Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)", she's the one who teaches Liza Friday (that song's coach) to dance and be more confident.
  • Everyone Calls Him "Barkeep": She's never referred to by any other name other than "The Bride".
  • Fashionable Asymmetry: Retains half of her original dress as Bridezilla, with the other half being a black leather one-piece with fishnet stockings. Her hair is also asymmetrical, remaining long on one side and being chopped short on the other, likely as a Shout-Out to the hairstyle Ava Max sported when she released "Sweet But Psycho".
  • Rose-Haired Sweetie: Subverted. She looks dainty and feminine but is originally part of the map for a song in which the narrator tells off her significant other over his constant mood swings.
  • Virgin in a White Dress: Even in "Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F)", which may indicate the time that she first met Rasputin, she still wears her wedding dress.
  • Wedding Episode: "Sugar" marks her canonical marriage with Rasputin. It didn't last long however...
  • Woman Scorned: Everything seems to indicate her turn to darkness was motivated by her relationship with Rasputin turning sour.

    Rasputin
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/img_3877.jpeg
Rasputin as he's seen in "Rasputin"
Click here to see his updated design (From "I Am My Own Muse")
Debut: Just Dance 2
Main Playable Routines: "Rasputin" by Boney M., "Hungarian Dance No. 5" as covered by the Just Dance Classical Orchestra, "Y.M.C.A" by the Village People, "Sugar" by Maroon 5, "I Am My Own Muse" by Fall Out Boy
Portrayed by: Jérémy Paquet ("Rasputin" and "Hungarian Dance No. 5"), Julien Durand ("Sugar")

“Yeah, I was in a Boy Band, but we all have a past, right?”

  • Beware the Nice Ones: He is the happy Rasputin in all of his appearances up until "I Am My Own Muse" in "2024 Edition", where he sports a more aggressive vibe after his fallout with The Bride.
  • The Cameo: Appears in the background of "Just Dance" in 2014 as a stained glass pattern, and in "Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)", indicating his first contact with The Bride.
  • The Casanova: Much like his namesake, Grigori Rasputin (a.k.a Russia's Greatest Love Machine), he's been seen with various other female coaches in the series. While his main relationship is with the Bride, he's also been connected to the coach from "Body Movin'", whom he teams up with in "Hungarian Dance No. 5".
  • Continuity Nod: His 2023 Edition bio, seen above, references Y.M.C.A. from 2014, where he's seen with three other male coaches from previous games.
  • Cool Old Guy: Despite looking middle-aged and sporting a beard, his future appearances have him dancing alongside much more younger-looking coaches at a party for the cool kids, examples of it being "Y.M.C.A", "Sugar" and "Last Friday Night".
  • Manly Facial Hair: Has a long and very plentiful beard like that of his historical namesake.
  • That Russian Squat Dance: Included in the choreography of his original map.
  • Wedding Episode: "Sugar" marks his canonical marriage with The Bride. It didn't last long however...

    The Panda
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/img_3876.jpeg
The Panda as he's seen in "Paca Dance"
Debut: Just Dance 2014
Main Playable Routines: "C'mon" by Kesha (classic and battle mode), "Timber" by Pitbull featuring Kesha, "I Gotta Feeling" by The Black Eyed Peas, "Don't Stop Me Now" by Queen (alternate), "Daddy Cool" by Boney M, "The Way I Are (Dance with Somebody)" by Bebe Rexha featuring Lil Wayne, "Sugar" by Maroon 5, "Water Me" by Lizzo (classic and alternate), "Con Calma" by Daddy Yankee featuring Snow, "Freeze Please" by The Just Dance School (kids mode), "Mini Yo School" by Dancing Bros. (kids mode), "Paca Dance" by The Just Dance Band, "Let's Save Our Planet" by The Sunlight Shakers (kids mode), "All You Gotta Do" by The Just Dance Band (Chinese version), "Mr. Blue Sky" as covered by the Sunlight Shakers, "Wouldn't It Be Nice" as covered by the Sunlight Shakers
Portrayed by: Mehdi Kerkouche ("C'mon", "Timber"), Tonbee Cattaruzza ("I Gotta Feeling"), Amit Rokade ("Don't Stop Me Now"), Daniel Park ("The Way I Are (Dance With Somebody)", Cormier Claude ("Sugar", "Paca Dance"), Adonis Kyriakides ("Water Me (Tennis Version)"), Julien Durand ("Con Calma", "Mini Yo School"), Cain Kitsais ("Freeze Please", "Mr. Blue Sky")

"I’m totally bamboozled! Time to recharge."

  • Demoted to Extra: Having been the Series Mascot for years, he has had his presence somewhat diminished in recent games, and it seems the traditional "costume" version of the character has been retired, making its final appearance in 2021's "Paca Dance". Since then, he has appeared exclusively in animated forms, as seen in the claymation maps (in only one of which he was a playable coach) and, arguably (if you choose to consider it the same character), "Rather Be" from 2023.
  • Funny Animal: While not the first one in the series, he's certainly one of the more popular animal characters in the series, and has various routines involving him, either portrayed by a person in costume or in claymation form.
  • Half-Dressed Cartoon Animal: This is his most common costume since he was introduced.
  • Recurring Character: Just look at how many routines feature him as a coach.
  • Series Mascot: Essentially became this to the franchise following his popularity with the fandom.
  • With a Friend and a Stranger: The Main Character to Rudolf's Friend and Brock's Stranger, as he is the character with the most appearances in the entire series out of the three.

    The Reindeer
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/img_3864.png
The Reindeer as he's seen in "Make It Jingle"
Debut: Just Dance 2018
Main Playable Routines: "Make It Jingle" by Big Freedia, "Water Me" by Lizzo (alternate only), "Con Calma" by Daddy Yankee featuring Snow, "Freeze Please" by The Just Dance School (kids mode), "Mini Yo School" by Dancing Bros. (kids mode), "Wouldn't It Be Nice" as covered by the Sunlight Shakers
Portrayed by: Jerky Jessy ("Make It Jingle"), Constantinos Papamethodiou ("Water Me"), Cornier Claude ("Con Calma"), Julien Durand ("Freeze Please"), Cain Kitsais ("Mini Yo School")

    Brock (The Badger)
Debut: Just Dance 2022 (as a background character), Just Dance 2023 (first playable appearance)
Main Playable Routines: "Wouldn't It Be Nice" and "Shine a Little Love" as covered by the Sunlight Shakers

  • Promoted to Playable: In Mr. Blue Sky, he only appeared as a background character as the badger first seen sitting on a toilet. His first playable appearance is in Wouldn't it Be Nice, however in Shine a Little Love he gets his own spotlight as a coach.
  • With a Friend and a Stranger: The Stranger to Panda's Main Character and Rudolf's Friend, as he is first seen as a background character. In Wouldn't it Be Nice, he eventually starts to become friends with the two.

    The Traveler
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/img_3863.png
The Traveler as he's seen in "Rock Your Body"
Debut: Just Dance 2022
Main Playable Routines: "Rock Your Body" by Justin Timberlake, "Save Your Tears (Remix)" by The Weeknd featuring Ariana Grande
Portrayed by: Thibaut Orsoni

  • Badass Cape: It has galaxy print on the inside!
  • The Cameo: Briefly appears in the background during "Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)".
  • Dimensional Traveler: It's in his (nick)name after all. In his original routine, he can make portals to different dimensions, which is why he ended up in "Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F)" and "Levitating" (where he meets his true love).
  • Early-Bird Cameo: Makes quick appearances in the trailers for the first three seasons of 2021 before being properly introduced in Season 4, fittingly named after him.
  • Everyone Calls Him "Barkeep": He's never referred to by any other name other than "The Traveler".
  • Expy: His attire and dimension-hopping powers have generated plenty of comparisons to Doctor Strange.
  • Interspecies Romance: His love interest is a Humanoid Alien.
  • Me's a Crowd: Near the end of "Rock Your Body", he creates clones of himself, as well as portals for each clone that goes to different dimensions. The real Traveler goes to "Levitating", but his clones go to "China", "Think About Things", and "Mr. Blue Sky".
  • Unmoving Plaid: The galaxy print on the inside of his cape behaves like this, making it look like a portal to an actual galaxy.

    Si'ha Nova
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/img_3862.png
Si'ha Nova as she's seen in "Levitating"
Debut: Just Dance 2022
Main Playable Routines: "Levitating" by Dua Lipa, "Save Your Tears (Remix)" by The Weeknd featuring Ariana Grande
Portrayed by: Inès Vandamme

    Agent D
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/img_3860.png
Agent D as she's seen in "Gimme More"
Debut: Just Dance 2023
Main Playable Routines: "Toxic" (2023 remake) by Britney Spears (original and extreme) and "Gimme More" by Britney Spears (original and extreme)
Portrayed by: Julie Bagalciague

"If you ever think you’re about to catch me, you’re so damn wrong."

  • Connected All Along: Ubisoft confirmed that all the routines for songs by Britney Spears are different missions that she partakes in.
  • Femme Fatale Spy: Her looks, mannerisms, and dance moves are capable of distracting the rival male and female assassins during the verses of "Gimme More", which gives an easy chance for Agent D to fend them off. Then there's the bridge of the song, where those same rival assassins act as Agent D's backup dancers, before revealing that they're the one who kidnapped "Dragostea Din Tei" P2.
  • Master of Disguise:
    • In her debut routine, "Toxic", she dresses up as a flight attendant (dubbed The Air Hostess) and a high-class commoner, before she puts on her spy gear starting from the song's bridge.
    • "Gimme More" from 2024 Edition reveals her lair, where she keeps various outfits (primarily from other Britney Spears songs) in holograms. In the routine, she became The Site Manager ("Work Work" (P2)), The Nurse ("Toxic" (JD2 version)), and The Performer ("Circus" (Extreme version)).
  • Mission Control: P2 of "Dragostea Din Tei" is this to her, as seen in the ending of "Gimme More", although unlike most Mission Controls, he is seen in the background of every mission she's been in, sometimes being the unfortunate kidnap victim of her rival assassins.
  • Shout-Out: The initial "D" in her name is a reference to Just Dance streamer TheFairyDina, who helped with the creative process of the map's creation and appears as a cameo in the background, during the hot tub scene.
  • A Spy at the Spa: During the second verse of "Toxic", she enters the VIP lounge with hot tubs in it. Her costume in this part resembles a VIP member.
  • Spy Catsuit: Her third costume in "Toxic". This costumes is re-used in it respective Extreme mode song.

    Ari
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/img_3861.png
Ari as she's seen in "Good 4 U"
Debut: Just Dance 2022
Main Playable Routines: "good 4 u" and "vampire" by Olivia Rodrigo
Portrayed by: Xuxu Yunling

  • Ambiguously Bi: While Grace is most likely bisexual, having at least three ex-boyfriends (the coaches of "Happy", "Sorry" and "Blame"), it is a bit more vague in the case of Ari, as she hasn't been shown to have an ex-boyfriend, but the song in which she debuts, "Good 4 U", does talk about a woman's boyfriend dumping her for a new girl, and the dance routine reflects the attitude of the narrator.
  • Butch Lesbian: Compared to Grace's, her routine ("Good 4 U") is more energetic, fitting the song, and she overalls radiates a tomboyish look to her. She's also hinted to be in a relationship with Grace, as seen in "Vampire".
  • Costume Evolution: "Good 4 U" has 4 costumes in total. Starting from a more formal school uniform look, she progressively loses some clothes in the routine, which is most evident in the top, where she would trade her undershirt for a bra. Her skirt, however, never changes. She would later wear a prom dress in "Vampire".
  • The Glasses Come Off: In "Good 4 U", her first costume change removes her glasses completely to match with the song's more energetic parts.
  • Shout-Out: Initially, she didn't have a name, much like most other Just Dance coaches. However, Just Dance 2024 Edition gave her the name Ari, from the "Thank U, Next" lyric "'cause her name is Ari". This is because she's seen as a cameo in the end of that song's routine, where she appears in a polaroid picture with Grace, that song's coach.
  • Tomboy and Girly Girl: The Tomboy to Grace's Girly Girl. Ari sports a very tomboyish look, and her debut routine, "Good 4 U", is much more energetic compared to Grace's.

    Grace
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/img_3859.png
Grace as she's seen in "Thank U, Next"
Debut: Just Dance 2023
Main Playable Routines: "Thank u next" by Ariana Grande, "vampire" by Olivia Rodrigo
Portrayed by: Chen Dalynn

  • Lipstick Lesbian: Compared to Ari's, her routine ("Thank U, Next") is slower-paced, and she overalls radiates a girlier look to her. She's also hinted to be in a relationship with Ari, as seen in "Vampire". Granted, Grace is more of a Lipstick Bisexual, as she has been in relationships with at least three men in the past.
  • Meaningful Name: Grace's name is likely derived from the word "gratitude".
  • Symbol Motif Clothing: There's a broken heart as part of her outfit, which is a reference to the song "Thank U, Next" being a breakup song from a girl named Ari (the singer Ariana Grande, not the coach from "Good 4 U").
  • Tomboy and Girly Girl: The Girly Girl to Ari's Tomboy. Grace sports a very traditionally feminine look, and her debut routine, "Thank U, Next", comes off as coyishly and girly compared to Ari's.

Enter the Danceverses Characters

    Sara
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/img_3593_6.png
Sara as she's seen in "Can't Stop The Feeling!"
Debut: Just Dance 2023 Edition
Main Playable Routines: "CAN'T STOP THE FEELING!" by Justin Timberlake (classic only), "Majesty" by Apashe featuring Wasiu, "If You Wanna Party" by The Just Dancers, "you should see me in a crown" by Billie Eilish, "Tainted Love" by The Just Dancers
Portrayed by: Shirley Henault

"I always used to dance like no one was watching - 'cos I made sure no one was."

  • Absolute Cleavage: Her Evil Makeover into Night Sara in 2024 Edition includes this, matching Night Swan's own fashion sense.
  • Face–Heel Turn: Gets turned evil in "you should see me in a crown", and helps Night Swan do the same for most of the other Just Dancers in "Swan Lake".
  • Intrepid Fictioneer: She's a human girl who is willingly whisked away to the Danceverses to help defeat Night Swan.
  • Meaningful Name: Her name means "princess"... Whether this is meant to be foreshadowing the possibility of her and Wanderlust becoming an Official Couple remains to be seen.
  • Odango Hair: Sports spacebuns in both her human and Just Dancer forms.
  • Plucky Girl: Is able to defeat Night Swan on her own out of sheer determination.
  • Series Mascot: She and Wanderlust appear to be slowly usurping the Panda as this in recent years. Sara specifically has often appeared as the Just Dance representative in group illustrations depicting characters from all of Ubisoft's mainline games.
  • Shrinking Violet: As she points out in the story trailer, Sara usually prefers to sit and watch while others dance. That is, until Wanderlust comes calling.
  • Technician Versus Performer: The Performer to Night Swan's Technician.
  • Town Girls: She's serves as the shy femme to Brezziana's butch and Mihaly's neither.
  • Youthful Freckles: Is depicted with these within the game, but not in official art, for some reason.

    Wanderlust
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/img_3594.png
Wanderlust as he's seen in "Canned Heat"
Debut: Just Dance 2023 Edition
Main Playable Routines: "CAN'T STOP THE FEELING!" by Justin Timberlake (classic and alternate), "Majesty" by Apashe featuring Wasiu, "Canned Heat" by Jamiroquai, "Swan Lake" by The Just Dance Orchestra, "Tainted Love" by The Just Dancers
Portrayed by: Jerky Jessy

"Life is a journey; dance it with me."

  • Amazing Technicolor Population: Inherited his mom's blue skin. Depending on who you ask, he could be cited as a genderflipped take on the Green-Skinned Space Babe trope, especially in his evil form at the end of "Dance with the Swan".
  • Benevolent Mage Ruler: Referred to as the "Danceverse Prince" and has "Sorcerer" as one of his two classifications.
  • Breaking the Fourth Wall: In-universe, reaching out of the TV to guide Sara into the game.
  • Cool Crown: Which he apparently can't take off due to his status as The Chosen One.
  • Companion Cube: His is a flying sentient mirrorball known simply as Discoball.
  • Dimensional Traveler: Much like his father, he's capable of traveling between the Danceverses through portals (including TV screens, as seen in the intro to "CAN'T STOP THE FEELING!").
  • Evil Makeover: His costume completely changes upon being corrupted by Night Swan. Noticeable features include his his cape being feathered and tattered, his hair being let loose from his usual braid, a diamond marking over one of his eyes (which are now mismatched), and the triangle insignia associated with his father being on a necklace instead of the belt.
  • Face–Heel Turn: Gets turned evil in "Swan Lake".
  • Heroic Build: With the Just Dance 2024 Edition Celebration Event, he's received a new avatar which depicts what appears to be his Super Mode, with a noticeably more muscular body type than usual.
  • Generation Xerox: Again, like his father, his map is set to a Justin Timberlake song, and he develops a special connection with a girl from another world.
  • Long-Haired Pretty Boy: Has long hair that he keeps tied back in a braid (which goes all the way to his butt!), keeping it out of the way when he's dancing.
  • Meaningful Name: His name is a German word used to describe a strong desire/love of traveling—nothing more fitting for a Dimensional Traveler.
  • Older Than They Look: Due to his jovial nature and wardrobe, many fans were shocked when a Valentine's Day social media post from Ubisoft revealed him to be 27-years-old.
  • Series Mascot: He and Sara appear to be slowly usurping the Panda as this in recent years. In his case specifically, he's had two avatars on Just Dance Now given out as exclusive rewards for completing specific limited-time playlists, and he was featured in one of the rotating sneak peek maps for 2024 Edition during the Celebration Event mini-season for said installment.
  • Ship Tease: Gets this with both Sara and (if the fandom is anything to go by) Jack.
  • Soap Opera Rapid Aging Syndrome: It's unclear how differently time passes in the Danceverses in comparison to Earth, but in real-world time, Wanderlust may be one of the most extreme cases of this, going from still being in Si'ha Nova's womb in May to being already born and fully-grown in September when 2023 Edition was announced. Thankfully, the Just Dance social media accounts have shared comic pages with glimpses at Wanderlust's childhood.

    Brezziana
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/img_3595_5.png
Brezziana as she's seen in "Stronger (What Doesn't Kill You)"
Debut: Just Dance 2023 Edition
Main Playable Routines: "Physical" by Dua Lipa, "Majesty" by Apashe featuring Wasiu, "Survivor (Fitness Version)" by Destiny's Child, "Stronger (What Doesn't Kill You)" by Kelly Clarkson, "Swan Lake" by The Just Dance Orchestra, "Tainted Love" by The Just Dancers
Portrayed by: Elena Gambardella

"This one’s coming to you straight from the heart, friends!"

  • Amazonian Beauty: One of the taller Just Dancers, and quite athletic and full-figured.
  • Face–Heel Turn: Gets turned evil in "Swan Lake".
  • Evil Makeover: Her costume completely changes upon being corrupted by Night Swan. Noticeable features include her sports bra and shorts combo turning into a black feather one-piece with a transparent jacket.
  • Fitness Nut: Not only does she frequently goes to gyms for workouts, but she also acts as a fitness influencer in the Just Dance world, as seen in "Physical". Out of all the songs in both "Enter the Danceverses" and "Dance with the Swan", her routines are among the most tiring and are rated as Intense in the game's effort level.
  • Genki Girl: Her primary asset is her boundless enthusiasm and positive energy.
  • Girlish Pigtails: Sports two hair buns. Her evil form drops them down to one.
  • Lighter and Softer: Of all 4 of the 2024 Edition routines she's been featured in, "Survivor (Fitness Version)" is the tamest one, as it doesn't involve any of Night Swan's antics.
  • Meaningful Name: Her name means "full of energy", fitting for an upbeat girl who's also a fitness freak.
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: She's the Red to Mihaly's Blue - she's always positive and energetic, likes to dance with other people fitting her job as a fitness trainer, and her routines are the most exhausting from the two playlists.
  • Town Girls: She's serves as the athletic butch to Sarah's femme and Mihaly's neither.

    Mihaly
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/img_3596_9.png
Mihaly as they're seen in "Never Be Like You"
Debut: Just Dance 2023 Edition
Main Playable Routines: "Rather Be" by Clean Bandit featuring Jess Glynne, "Majesty" by Apashe featuring Wasiu, "Never Be Like You" by Flume featuring Kai, "Swan Lake" by The Just Dance Orchestra, * "Tainted Love" by The Just Dancers
Portrayed by: Soraya Gacem, Axelle Carreree (panda and evil forms only)

"Given the chance, I’d rather be mastering new moves."

  • Ambiguous Gender Identity: Despite Soraya Gacem, who portrays Mihaly, being a woman, Mihaly has always been referred with they/them pronouns by Ubisoft, making them the first nonbinary character in the Just Dance series. Still, some hints of Mihaly being addressed as female appears in the game, such as in the Italian translation of their SSR avatar "Mihaly in Harmony", "Mihaly Armonica", which uses a feminine gendered noun.
  • Animorphism: Turns into a panda in "Never Be Like You", possibly due to their mastery of the Flow. Mihaly also takes on this form during "Swan Lake", though only for a short amount of time.
  • Beast Man: Night Swan's corruption gives them panda features, as a middle ground between their original and panda forms.
  • Broken Pedestal: Used to idolize Night Swan. At the start of "Never Be Like You", we see them tear a Night Swan poster off the wall of their apartment.
  • Evil Makeover: Their costume completely changes upon being corrupted by Night Swan. Noticeable features include the jacket changing into a hooded robe and their appearance becoming more animalistic (see Beast Man).
  • Face–Heel Turn: Gets turned evil in "Swan Lake".
  • Headphones Equal Isolation: The map for "Rather Be" starts out with Mihaly walking through a crowd of people (presumably in Dancity), before putting their earbuds on and being transported to Melosia Realms through the music. Ditto in "Never Be Like You", except that it starts from their room instead.
  • Named After Somebody Famous: Their name is derived from psychologist Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi, known for discovering the psychologic concept of "flow".
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: They're the Blue to Brezziana's Red - they're calmer and more introverted, prefers to be with themselves (as well as Master Panda) in the Realm of the Flow, and their routines are the most technical from the two playlists.
  • Smart People Wear Glasses: Wears glasses and is an experienced master of the Flow.
  • Town Girls: They serves as the androgynous neither to Sarah's femme and Brezziana butch.
  • Voluntary Shapeshifting: Gains the ability to take on a panda form in "Never Be Like You".

    Jack Rose
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/img_3597_5.png
Jack Rose as he's seen in "Locked Out of Heaven"
Debut: Just Dance 2023 Edition
Main Playable Routines: "Locked Out of Heaven" and "Treasure" by Bruno Mars, "Majesty" by Apashe featuring Wasiu
Portrayed by: Mickael Lips

"With a mother like mine, who needs enemies?"

  • Adaptational Context Change: The visuals of the map for "Locked Out of Heaven" and the game's commonplace song lyric censorship change a song that is originally meant to be about sex so good it can be compared to a religious experience and makes it about Jack fantasizing about stepping out of his mother's shadow and living his dreams of singing onstage, and the happiness and fulfillment he'd get from it all.
  • A Minor Kidroduction: While he had an Early-Bird Cameo in "Witch", standing idly by Night Swan's throne, we're not properly acquainted with him until "Locked Out of Heaven", which starts with brief flashback to Jack as a child practicing his dancing and being interrupted by his disapproving mother.
  • A Wild Rapper Appears!: Raps in the third verse of "If You Wanna Party".
  • Disappeared Dad: The identity of his father is unknown. When asked about it, the game's loremaster and community manager opted not to answer.
  • Evil Redhead: Seemingly played straight at first, and eventually subverted.
  • Fatal Flaw: Night Swan implies that she knows her son's weakness and Jack Rose himself is indicated to have difficulty sharing the spotlight. Treasure reveals this through him distracted by manipulated reflection in the water of Swan Tower which shows a successful vision of himself; complete with duplicates of himself and even the Night Swan statue is replaced with one of himself instead. While it doesn't actually sway him that much, but it distracts him long enough for Night Swan to corrupt his friends.
  • Forced into Evil: While initially subservient to his mother, Jack isn't necessarily shown to be as evil as her.
  • Evil Makeover: Although he does not undergo a Face–Heel Turn like his peers in "Dance with the Swan", we do get a close equivalent of it via the mirror version of him that appears as the coach for "Treasure", which is basically just his regular design but mirrored and with black hair and feathers.
  • Heel–Face Turn: During "Majesty", after Night Swan turns Wanderlust into one of her servants, Jack can be seen having an argument with her in the background during Mihaly's first portion, and when the camera goes to where he is, proceeds to reverse the spell on Wanderlust, and sides with the Just Dancers from there on out.
  • It's All About Me: "Treasure" is similar to "Locked Out Of Heaven", but it is full of clones of Jack as his fans and co-performers, and reveals a statue of Jack in the background replacing where would Night Swan's statue be in "Locked Out Of Heaven". Subverted though since the Jack that appears in this routine isn't the real Jack to begin with, but rather an illusion created by Night Swan, so this is more like "It's All About Jack" for her.
  • Meaningful Name: In a roundabout way. He shares his name with an actual species of rose, formally known as the Général Jacqueminot rose, which, in turn, is named after Napoleonic general Jean-François Jacqueminot. This could be seen as an allusion to his initial role as his mother's right-hand man. His name may also be a subtle Titanic reference - combining the first names of the two main lovers.
  • Self-Duplication: "Treasure" shows him doing this through his mirrors, and in the tweet teasing the map, Night Swan points out she "knows [his] power", implying he can also do this in real life. The caption to his Legendary "Kid of the Swan" avatar also seems to point to this, with Jack using the pronoun 'we'.
  • Sharp-Dressed Man: Wears a red suit with a large shoulder piece of pink Fluffy Fashion Feathers.

    Night Swan
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/img_3598_1.png
Night Swan as she's seen in "Witch"
Debut: Just Dance 2023 Edition
Main Playable Routines: "Witch" by Apashe ft. Alina Pash, "Majesty" by Apashe featuring Wasiu, "you should see me in a crown" by Billie Eilish
Portrayed by: Shirley Henault (Just Dance 2023 Edition), Maïwenn Bramoullé (Just Dance 2024 Edition)

"Perfect is the enemy of good, and I don’t care much about good!"

  • Abusive Parents: "Locked Out of Heaven" implies she never supported Jack's performance ambitions and deliberately kept him in her shadow at all times, so much so that he still feels her presence looming over him even when she's away.
  • The Bad Guy Wins: Gets the upper hand in 2024 Edition.'s Dance with the Swan playlist.
  • Big Bad: Of both "Enter the Danceverse" and "Dance with the Swan"
  • The Cameo: Her hand can be seen at the start of "Telephone" pointing at Louise from the other side of the glass.
  • Control Freak: Her desire for perfection has led to her resorting to attempt to brainwash all the other coaches.
  • Early-Bird Cameo: Made her first appearance in a tarot card seen in the trailer for Season 1 of 2022, labeled only as "X". This earned her the Fan Nickname of Madame X before her official name was revealed.
  • Master of Illusion: The events of Dance with the Swan show she's capable of this, disguising herself as Sara to get Wanderlust to give her Discoball at the end of "Canned Heat", then as Wanderlust to lure Sara into her ship in "you should see me in a crown", and finally, conjuring an illusion of what Jack would be like if he chose to side with her in "Treasure".
  • People Puppets: Does this to Sara in "you should see me in a crown" and the other Just Dancers (expect Jack Rose) in Swan Lake.
  • The Perfectionist: Her primary motivation.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: The ending of Majesty had her leaving through a portal to the city of Cygnus after her defeat.
  • Shout-Out: Her black swan motifs and balletic moves could be seen as a reference to Odile from Swan Lake. It's even said she turned to evil after "failing to be the ultimate ballerina".
    • In the Dance with the Swan playlist, she disguises herself as Sara to steal away Discoball from Wanderlust, much like how Odile disguises herself as Odette to get Siegfried to profess his love for her instead of the real Odette.
    • It all comes down to the main theme of the ballet finally getting a routine in 2024 Edition as part of "Dance with the Swan". While she doesn't appear for the majority of the routine nor is she a playable coach, her antics take place here, as the possessed Sara manages to successfully corrupt the other Just Dancers as well.
  • Sore Loser: Doesn't take well to losing to the Just Dancers and flees through a portal to the city of Cygnus at the end of "Majesty".
  • Villainous Mother-Son Duo: She and Jack start out as this before his true motives are revealed.
  • Technician Versus Performer: The Technician to Sara's Performer.
