  • Genshin Impact has a massive array of playable characters and NPCs, many of whom are unfailingly kind and friendly:
    • The Traveler is, regardless of whether they're Lumine or her brother Aether, unfailingly kind and friendly to most everyone they meet and it takes a special kind of bastard (such as Il Dottore or Azar) to really get on their bad side. While it's Established as early as them rescuing Paimon after reawakening from their 500-year stasis in the beginning of the game, such events as learning the struggles of Ayaka's "Three Wishes" or Nahida really cement their kindness in place.
    • From Mondstadt:
      • Amber is upbeat and friendly and while she's apprehensive and suspicious of the Traveler at first she warms up to them pretty quickly once it's established that they're not a threat to Mondstadt.
      • Barbara is a bubbly, sweet, and bouncy Idol Singer-Deaconess who is absolutely devoted to healing and making others smile in her service to the Church of Favonius, where she is adored by everyone.
      • Bennett has a bad luck streak so wide you could comfortably land the Jade Chamber on it, but despite that he takes his bad luck in stride and always with a smile on his face and is extremely sweet and friendly to most everyone he meets - even if they're put off by his aforementioned streak of bad luck. He doesn't have many friends, but he can count Barbara, Fischl, Klee, and Razor, as well as the Traveler, among them.
      • Fischlnote  might by the hammiest of Chuunibyous and seems to have had a hell of a Dark and Troubled Past, but underneath this bluster and theatricality is an extremely sweet and caring girl who counts those who are kind to her or recognize her unique self-appointed position as Prinzessin der Verurteilung as practiacally family, counting Bennett, Mona, and, following an escapade in the Golden Apple Archipelago, Xinyan and Kaedahara Kazuha as her friends, alongside the Traveler.
      • Jean is fairly friendly and unendingly selfless. She may be commanding officer of the Knights of Favonius in the abscence of their leader, Varka, but her immensely high reputation among Mondstadters isn't for nothing, and while she does have a more awkward relationship with her half-sister Barbara she is doing her best to improve it. Even her sterner moments with Klee stem more from the fact that the kid is a Mad Bomber par excellence and Jean needs to be stern with her lest she hurt an innocent person with her bombs and grenades, and outside these sterner moments (which - at worst - involve Jean grounding Klee to General Quarters for a day) the two adore each other.
      • Speaking of Klee, she may be a Mad Bomber with her stuffed toy grenades but that doesn't stop her from being a massive ray of sunshine and joy who has absolutely zero mean bones toward anyone. This is best exemplified in her Story Quest when one of her Jumpty-Dumpty bombs kills an Abyss Mage, which causes her to run back to HQ in tears because she thought she hurt an innocent with her bombs.
      • Lisa is carefree and playful, though not to a mercurial degree, and highly approachable, often referring to her friends by pet names (like "cutie" for the Traveler - regardless of whether it's Aether or Lumine). She considers the Traveler special to her, and several other characters like Razor or Klee are more than happy to gush about her friendliness. Just... Don't keep a book you've borrowed from the Knights of Favonius' library past its due date. You won't like how that story ends.
      • Noelle is extremely friendly and sweet, and is eager if not Determined to make sure everyone is happy with a smile on her face. In fact, this kindness is reflected in her being a Meido knight-in-training and is also Deconstructed with her being kind to a fault, to the point that other Knights of Favonius and Mondstadters will take advantage of her willingness to help to offload their own workloads onto her; though at the very least Jean has taken steps to curb this behavior by punishing Knights who pull such stunts with loss of vacation time and pay deductions.
      • Sucrose is known as the "Harmless Sweetie" for a reason: she doesn't have a lot in the way of social skills and she's shy at the best of times, but to those who know her like Albedo and the Traveler she is nothing but sweet and earnest.
      • Venti is easily approachable and playful and while he can be a bit of a tease he has people's best interests at heart; something you wouldn't expect from a mercurial bard but absolutely fits Lord Barbatos' MO to a tee. He even refuses to rule over his beloved Mondstadt as its Archon as he feels that Freedom - the concept he is patron of - demanded by a God is not freedom at all.
    • From Liyue:
      • Beidou is a Friendly Pirate Girl with the Face of a Thug and a golden heart that she's more than happy to wear on her sleeve. Aside from making fast friends with the Traveler, she also took in Kaedahara Kazuha when the latter was fleeing Inazuma and is a fierce mother to her crew within the Crux Fleet and its flagship Alcor; and when her crew kidnapped Xiangling looking for cheap eats Beidou was so impressed with her cooking that they became instant friends. She's also a firm Friend to All Children like Yaoyao, and other playable characters from Liyue like Xiangling, Xinyan, and Xingqiu have an immense respect for her, as does the Qixing's Tianquan, Ninnguangnote .
      • While normally kept underneath a layer of quiet professionalism, Ganyu is nothing but kind and sweet when she's with those she feels comfortable with, like Beidou, Rex Lapis, or Ningguang, and rarely - if ever - has anything mean to say about others. This isn't surprising to those who know their Chinese Mythology, as Ganyu is a Half-Human Hybrid with her non-human half belonging to the Adeptus Clade known as the Qilin, who are based on the Qilin of Chinese Myth that were said to be unfailingly benevolent and kind.
      • Hu Tao is a bit of an oddball or weirdo but her interactions with such people as the Traveler or the souls of the recently-departed show that her heart is entirely the right place, even if she'd be willing to mess with the Adepti or her own nation's Archon, Rex Lapis, on a lark. note
      • Moon Carver, The Perfected Lord who Carves the Moon and Builds the Sun, has a reputation of being "the kindest Adeptus amongst all", which is impressive considering Ganyu's immense kindness. When he meets the Traveler during Liyue's Archon Quest, he's deeply upset on their behalf when he learns from them that the Qixing of Liyue want to arrest them for Rex Lapis' death, something they were innocent of, and ultimately when contrasted with the other Adepti who have removed themselves from humankind like Cloud Retainer, Mountain Shaper, or Xiao, Moon Carver is the most Reasonable of the group, only siding with Cloud Retainer's plan to wrest control of Liyue away from the Qixing out of a genuine concern that they were abusing their power and happily standing down when Ningguang - the Tianquan and highest authority of the Qixing - deliberately crashes her own Floating Big Fancy House, the Jade Chamber, right on top of a rampaging sea god at the climax of Liyue's Archon Quest.
      • While an Undead Child whose memory is scatterbrained at the best of times, Qiqi is still incredibly sweet and friendly to almost everyone she meets - so long as they're not named Hu Tao, anyway.
      • Xiangling is a Supreme Chef par excellence who may be a little goofy but is always upbeat and excitable and has no problem making friends with everyone, even her rivals in the culinary arts, Gods or Divine Entities like her Mentor, the Adeptus Streetward Rambler or Madame Ping, aristocrats like Zhongli, or random animals she runs across, like Guoba - the latter two of whom are also Liyuean Gods, namely Liyue's Top God and Archon Rex Lapis Morax and the De-Powered Stove God Marchosius for Zhongli and Guoba respectively.
      • Yanfei is just as kind and sweet as her fellow half-Adeptus Ganyu, but is far more approachable, friendly, and playful than the more reserved, shy, and professional Ganyu. While she may be a Consummate Professional when it comes to her work as an Omnidisciplinary Lawyer, when she's off the clock she's more than happy to share a kind word or shoot the breeze with anyone who asks, and her dream in life is for a time where people can live completely honestly and peacefully, as it would allow her to step away from her job as a lawyer and do something else - rapping, for example. She also moonlights as a Cool Teacher for Law Students in Liyue, becoming fast friends with Kuki Shinobu thanks to this, and while she's initially off-put by Arataki Itto's brash demeanor her ordeal in the Chasm's Bed with him, Shinobu, Xiao, and Yelan is the fire which tempers their friendship.
      • Yaoyao is an Adorably Precocious Cheerful Child who is introduced by the game as a "warmhearted and considerate child"; this is best exemplified by the immense patience she shows her Best Friend, Qiqi, as well as when she saves the Fontainean musician Dvorak from drowning outside her hometown of Qingce Village during the 2023 Lantern Rite Event quest. She is so sweet and kind, in fact, that every single one of Liyue's Adepti - barring, perhaps, Xiao - adore and dote on her, including their resident Ice Queen, Cloud Retainer, who gave her her beloved stuffed bunny toy and Adeptal Gadget, Yuegui. She also looks out for her fellows within Liyue's Qixing, like her Mentor, Ganyu, whom she makes sure gets food without anything spicy like Jueyun Chilies and extremely soft and fluffy pillows and bedding when Ganyu stays at the Wangshu Inn for a much-needed break.
      • Yun Jin seems like the sort of aloof Prima-Donna you would expect an operetta to be, but the truth is that the professional grace and politeness she shows is entirely genuine - people who get to know her well, like the Traveler or Xinyan, describe her as extremely sweet off the stage, perhaps even moreso than onstage, and it's this kindness that earns her the friendship of the icy and reserved Shenhe when they meet in the first Interlude Quest. In addition, one ending of her Hangout Event sees her distract the Traveler with a photo op so that she can give them a tackle-hug out of playful appreciation of their friendship.
      • Zhongli is eccentric, Money Dumb, and fairly stoic, but beneath that eccentricity is a warm, friendly air that you can almost taste and a reasonable attitude that makes him infinitely approachable, making sure that workers contracted to him are paid fairly and giving the Traveler a fair amount of autonomy, a wealth of knowledge on Liyue, and a very nice meal at one of Liyue's top restaurants when the Traveler winds up roped into Zhongli's efforts to commemorate the passing of Rex Lapis with the Rite of Passing during Liyue's Archon Quest. About the only way anyone could ever truly piss him off is if they break a contract, and should they do so in his presence, he makes sure that they don't repeat their mistake. This is also true of him while actively ruling Liyue as Rex Lapis Morax, as while he contracted Adepti like Madame Ping or Ganyu to fight alongside him in the Archon Wars and serve him in official government positions in Liyue afterward, his contract with Yanfei is far more lax, just asking that she live her best life possible.
    • From Inazuma:
      • You would expect an Oni to just be a slavering, brutish, immensely strong thug, and while Arataki Itto is certainly immensely strong, egocentric and Boisterous up the wazoo, and fairly stupid to boot, he's about as far from brutish and thuggish as you can get, being an absolute bro to his gang and anyone whom he considers a friend, including almost all of Inazuma's kids and, following a harrowing adventure in the Bed of Liyue's Chasm, Xiao, Yanfei, and Yelan as well. He may look scary, but he is far from it.
      • Kaedhara Kazuha is easygoing, perpetually calm, and kind, who is more than happy to share his wisdom with those he meets, like Mona, Fischl, Xinyan, Beidou, and the Traveler. Knowing his backstory, he has every right to be bitter and aloof - he was forced to flee his home land after his friend died to the Musou no Hitotachi of the Raiden Shogun at the height of the oppressive Sakoku and Vision Hunt Decrees issued by the Shogun Puppet and has lived as a Rōnin and fugitive from the law as a member of the crew of the Crux Fleet's flagship, Alcor, ever since. It's a show of his strength of character that he chooses to be kind regardless.
      • As befitting her Yamato Nadeshiko persona, Kamisato Ayaka is just as sweet and nice to everyone as she is graceful and elegant, and it's best shown when she's able to attend a festival with the Traveler in her first Story Quest and in her close relationship with her manservant, Thoma.
      • Kirara is a Cute Kitten Nekomata girl who is highly affectionate and kind to everyone she meets, which is extremely useful to her job as a deliverywoman since it allows her to interact with all of her customers with incredible professionalism and generosity, and when she's off the job she's extremely playful and easygoing, eager to share a kind word with anyone and everyone she meets.
      • The Raiden Shogun seems as far from a kind person as you can get, but that's only true of the robotic puppet ruling in the stead of the actual Shogun, Raiden Ei Beelzebul, who is absolutely a kind and friendly person. This is shown best when the Traveler meets her in her first Story Quest - while the Shogun Puppet is stern, aloof, and cold while talking with them Ei is warm, personable, and sweet, almost greeting them as family once she realizes it's the Traveler that's asked for an audience with her. She's a highly Benevolent Boss and she genuinely does have the best interests of her beloved Inazuma's people at heart, but she can still be just as harsh as the Shogun Puppet when things go south, as showcased when she accosts the treasonous Head of the Kujou Clan at the climax of her first Story Quest.
      • Sangonomiya Kokomi is sweet and friendly to those around her and genuinely cares for her beloved Watatsumi Island's people both as the High Priestess of their religion and as the leader of the Sangonomiya Resistance fighting the Shogunate's armies in the full, harsh brutality of Inazuma's Civil War. It's telling that she holds no ill-will toward the greatest symbol of the Shogunate's hostility toward Watatsumi Island outside of the Shogun Puppet, Kujou Sara, when they meet in Kokomi's first Story Quest, as well as showing no hostility toward the High Priestess of Inazuma's state religion, Yae Miko, when they meet during the Irodori Festival despite being the head of her own religion's biggest rival - helped by the fact that they've been exchanging mail with each other under pen-names. Similarly, the friendship she makes with the Traveler stems from the fact that they are one of the few people who sees Kokomi as a person rather than a hero or an idol, allowing her to reveal her insecurities and vulnerabilities to them.
      • Thoma may be The Fixer for the Yashiro Commission for when Sayu and the Shuumatsuban would be overkill or unnecessary and certainly can put the squeeze on people when the situation calls for it, but once the dust has settled he's a friendly, helpful, and highly approachable guy who doesn't concern himself with backtalk and strikes up a fast friendship with the Traveler once they meet. He doesn't even hold a grudge against the Raiden Shogun's Puppet for when she tried to take his Pyro Vision from him as the 100th Vision stolen under the oppressive Vision Hunt Decree, chalking it up to her acting on her own morals. Maybe it has something to do with his being half-Mondstadter.
      • Yoimiya is a cheerful, bubbly, and eternally optimistic ray of sunshine who brightens the day of everyone she meets and gets on with virtually everyone - especially children - like a house on fire, striking up fast friendships with the Traveler, Thomanote  , Kleenote , and even Tartaglia, one of the Fatui's Harbingersnote .
    • From Sumeru:
      • Candace is a warm and polite young woman who serves as defender of one of the sole towns in Sumeru's Thirsty Desert, Aaru Village, who helps to mediate a conflict between Alhaitham, Cyno, and Dehya when the three fight outside the village during Sumeru's Archon Quest, allowing cooler heads to prevail, and is more than happy to make friends with the Traveler once they explain their mission to her. Of course, being a defender of Aaru Village is something she takes seriously, and she might not call herself an Eremite but she is still able to fight just as fiercely as any of them.
      • Dehya, much like Beidou, has the Face of a Thug and a heart of gold she wears on her sleeve, caring far more deeply for the lady in her Lady and Knight duo, Dunyarzad, than she lets on; and despite a rocky start when she first meets the Traveler (almost killing them when she catches them with Dunyarzad, something only the Raiden Shogun's Puppet ever attempted before) she becomes a firm Cool Big Sis to them as Sumeru's Archon Quest proceeds further. She also cares deeply for Sumeru's kids - desert-dwellers like herself or otherwise - to the point where she donates her life savings to start a fund for desert orphans to help them lead better lives in her character teaser. Dehya represents the Eremites at their best - fierce and unyielding in a fight, but warm and friendly all the same.
      • Kaveh embodies the ideals of The McCoy to a T, being an incredibly warm and friendly person who always cares about doing right by others. Almost everyone who knows of him - barring Alhaitham - has a great amount of respect for him, both as a legendary architectnote  and as a kind and decent person. At the same time, though, this warmth also translates into him being a prime example of being Hot-Blooded and having a Hair-Trigger Temper, especially in situations where he's dealing with Alhaitham, though Kaveh does show concern for Alhaitham after events transpire in the latter's Story Quest that put him in great danger.
      • Layla is probably the sweetest member of the Akademiya - provided you don't catch her Sleepwalking and meet her much brasher "Star's Blessing" aspect - though Lisanote  and Kaveh are close runners-up. Incredibly polite and extremely humble, Layla probably wouldn't be able to hurt a fly if she didn't need to and stands out as a stark contrast to most everyone else, not just within the Akademiya but within her own school within the Akademiya, as the Rtawahist Darshan she's studying in is the same one that the vile and treasonous Grand Sage Azar swore fealty to.
      • Nahida is about as close to a literal angel as you can get in the game, and the only reason she's not a literal angel is because, as Lesser Lord Kusanali Buer, she's a step up higher on the rungs of Divinity as a God. While she comes off as elusive and mysterious at first, everything she does is done with the purest and kindest of intentions, and she's an All-Loving Heroine who goes out of her way to keep her beloved Sumeru's people safe, even going out of her way to rescue a dying Dunyarzad during the Sabzeruz Samsara, as well as being a massive Friend to All Children who reaches out to them in the Vale of Dreams to give them knowledge of the world and loving, gentle comfort in times of despair - hence why Dunyarzad looks up to and reveres Nahida - as Lesser Lord Kusanali - as her Patron rather than her predecessor, Greater Lord Rukkhadevata. This sheer kindness, sweetness, and - to some extent - innocence makes the abuse she suffered under the care of the Sages of the Akademiya from her birth 500 years ago up to the tenure of Grand Sage Azar all the more horrible and cruel, as even though she did everything in her power to be the kindest Archon she could be to her beloved Sumeru's people in light of Rukkhadevata's death the Sages treated her as little more than an unworthy usurper of Rukkhadevata's position; and the fact that she still remained kind even with such abuse hurled at her is a testament to her pure heart and strength of character. Of course, this kindness should be not taken to mean that she's weak in any way - Il Dottore learned that one the hard way when she ordered him to destroy his various personality fragments scattered through Teyvat's local spacetime frame in order to get the Electro Gnosis of Beelzebul, under pain of her destroying the Gnosis and bringing down the wrath of the Ambiguously Evil Gods of Celestia on the both of them if he refused or tried to kill her.
      • Nilou is a Bedlah Babe without a single mean bone in her body when interacting with anyone - whether it be with the community of Sumeru's Grand Bazaar who all adore her or an Academic Alpha Bitch from the Akademiya who would want to suppress the arts she loves, especially dance. She's one of the few people in Sumeru who views Paimon as adorable, and she's incredibly close friends with several members of Sumeru's community, such as Dehya and Dunyarzad, and is a devotee of Lesser Lord Kusanali who more than wholeheartedly pledges her Undying Loyalty to her when she appears in her human form, Nahida, in the denouement of Sumeru's Archon Quest.
      • From what little the Traveler sees of the Wanderer following his self-inflicted erasure from Irminsul, he seems like a sweet and selfless person, working at a fruit stand in Sumeru's Grand Bazaar while refusing any sort of pay; it's also implied that he was much the same way before he encountered his "three betrayals" as Kunnikuzushi and became the Fatui Harbinger Scaramouche. Once the Wanderer fully regains his memories as Scaramouche - something he did fully of his own will out of a desire to atone for his sins in his previous life, and something that gained him an Anemo Vision - this attitude largely vanishes and he becomes just as standoffish and mercurial as he used to be, though he's not nearly as cruel as Scaramouche was.
    • From Fontaine:
      • Christopher, head of the Inazuman International Trade Association whose name is localized as "Kurisu" in Inazuma, is an honest and kind merchant who goes out of his way to keep the foreigners stuck in Inazuma's foreign trade zone of Ritou happy and does his best to avoid unnecessary violence, often giving those that meet with him a kind word and some encouraging advice even with his rough lot in life thanks to the oppression of the Sakoku Decree.
      • Lyney might be a bit of a prankster and is a trained agent of the Fatui, but he is extremely friendly and kind to everyone he meets, especially children. He strikes up a friendship with the Traveler pretty quickly and is extremely polite to Charlotte when she meets him on an Aquabus to Fontaine City during the Archon Quest.
      • Navia is a Spoiled Sweet who can't help but be a massive sweetheart to everyone she meets - although she makes exceptions for Clorinde or Neuvillette due to their involvement in the death of her father which is largely a misunderstanding on Navia's part rather than either of theirs; and when Navia learns the truth of the matter she's willing to let bygones be bygones in the grand scheme of things and make amends. Regardless, she still makes fast friends with the Traveler and treats her subordinates with great respect.
      • Neuvillette is quite a hard read, no thanks to his lack of understanding of human social skills due to being the reincarnated Hydro Dragon, but those who get to know him get to see him as unfailingly kind and polite to those who stand trial before him, only really showing a colder side to one person - Furina, God-Emperor of Fontaine also known as Focalors, who tends to treat trials as entertainment rather than the solemn affairs they should be and acts extremely childish for an Archon - even moreso than the actual child among the Archons, Nahida!
