Aura of Azure Witches

    Amleth
Rarity: SR -> LR
Type: Warrior
Height and Weight: 164cm / 50kg
Blood Type: B
Birthday: 4/26
Lament: Outcry (JP by Atarayo; EN by Ariel Josée)
Voiced by: Atsumi Tanezaki (JP); Liisa Lee (EN)

The young Queen of the Kingdom of Vyde who travels the country to save victims of the Curse of Crystals with her sword in hand. She believes that it's her fault that Vyde has fallen to calamity, along with what happened to her childhood friend Ophelia that led to the kingdom's fall in the first place.

As the queen of the Kingdom of Vyde, Amleth's swordsmanship is strong enough to cut down even the hardest of cursed crystals. Her 1st active "Crystal Breaker" has Amleth deal 1 physical attack equal to 350% of her ATK, which is enough force to shatter cursed crystals, to up to 4 random enemies and from level 2 onwards increases the damage they take by 10%. And with a blade filled with the strength to tear down magic power to pieces, the damage is multiplied by 1.5 if the target is a Sorcerer type. Her 2nd skill "Curtains Cut Down" on the other hand has Amleth utilize her perfect swordsmanship by unleashing 4 physical attacks equal to up to 330% of her ATK to random enemies and each time she attacks, she has a 30% chance to deal 1 more physical attack equal to up to 380% of her ATK. From Level 3 onwards, if an enemy is defeated by the skill, Amleth regains HP equal to 10% of her max HP with another 10% for each enemy defeated by it.

Becoming the "Ray of Light" that shines upon Vyde in the face of adversity and despite the risk of death, Amleth's 1st passive of that name increases her ATK by up to 80% the lower her HP is decreased and as the "Fulfiller of Oaths", her 2nd passive by that name has her filled with the determination to overcome obstacles and fulfill her promises by having her survive on 1 HP if she takes damage that would otherwise eliminate her, additionally granting her [Immortality] for up to 2 turns starting from level 2.

When Amleth is granted her Unique Weapon "Oathkeeper", "Crystal Breaker" also inflicts [Bind] to her targets for 2 turns and increases the multiplier for damage dealt to Sorcerer-type to 2 while the chance to deal an additional attack during "Curtains Cut Down" is increased to 50% and the damage is increased to equal to 400% of her ATK.

  • Childhood Friends: Ophelia was there for her birth and the two have been inseparable since.
  • The Chains of Commanding: Amleth is truly dedicated to being the great queen of her Kingdom of Vyde to the point of her becoming a Workaholic. Amleth, however, does admit to the Successor that she feels the weight and the solitude that encages rulers of countries quite heavily. That is why she recognizes the true value of those we call friends like Ophelia and later the Successor.
  • Commonality Connection: Considering how the Successor is in the leadership position in his party of Witches, Amleth feels a kinship with the Successor as a fellow leader. She, in fact, feels that she has much to learn from how Successor rules since everyone under him is so full of life and laughter. She also feels Commonality Connection to Successor about being a Workaholic because she is also quite a Workaholic like he is.
  • Even the Girls Want Her: Sonya admires her a lot and then there's Ophelia.
  • Hypocrisy Nod: While asking the Successor not to overwork himself, she admits to being guilty of the same.
  • I Call Her "Vera": Amelth's blade is known as Oathkeeper. It is revealed in Amleth's and later Ophelia's memories that Amleth's royal blade is actually Executioner; Oathkeeper is originally Ophelia's personal blade. Amleth and Ophelia actually swapped each other's blades as a part of Heroic Vow.
  • Lady and Knight: Amelth is the Lady to Ophelia's Knight. Though Amelth is also capable of holding on her own.
  • Lonely at the Top: Given Amleth's fight for the throne against her brothers and the heavy duty of being a queen, Amleth feels quite Lonely at the Top. That is why she greatly cherishes Ophelia who unquestionably supported her since birth.
  • The Promise: Amleth asked her most loyal and closest Witch Knight Ophelia to kill her if she ever becomes a tyrant with her royal blade called Executioner whose purpose is to strike down tyrants. Amleth requested this despite how she knew that Ophelia would be surely crushed by the sheer weight of Mercy Kill Arrangement that Ophelia would surely be Driven to Suicide afterward. Contrary to what Amleth outwardly says to Ophelia, however, Amleth inwardly wants to be Together in Death with Ophelia instead. Amleth inwardly considers herself as pathetic for not conveying what she truly desires.
  • Royals Who Actually Do Something: Unlike most other royals who were helpless to resolve the curses plaguing their nations, Amleth has taken to ensuring her subjects' safety from her kingdom's own Curse.
  • Shout-Out to Shakespeare: A fair number of players have noticed that Amleth is a Significant Anagram of Hamlet, which makes her relationship with a certain someone named Ophelia more symbolic.
  • Situational Sword: The damage from Amleth's 1st skill is multiplied by 1.5 (2 if she's equipped with Oathkeeper) if her target is a Sorcerer-type, making her a pain in the butt in the Battle League for players who like to field Witches such as Merlyn and Freesia.
  • True Companions: Amleth not only considers Ophelia to be the only true companion that she completely trusts with her life, but also a friend dearest to her heart. This is quite understandable given her circumstances.
  • Workaholic: By her own admission and Ophelia's observation.

    Eir
Rarity: SR -> LR
Type: Sniper
Height and Weight: 164cm / 49kg
Blood Type: AB
Birthday: 6/30
Lament: Twilight Crack (JP by Eye; EN)
Voiced by: Haruka Shiraishi (JP);

A hunter with unrivaled sniping abilities hailing from the Kingdom of Vyde, Eir was forced to hunt other witches after the Inquisition of the Church of Longinus killed her grandfather and kidnapped her sister. After her final job however she realized that she was used by the Inquisition and her sister is now most likely dead, so she now uses her skills against them. Because said final job involved the sister of another witch who she believes is seeking revenge against her, Eir intends to forfeit her life to her some day to gain closure.

  • The Atoner: Having killed witches in the past, Eir now seeks to make amends especially after her final job had her shoot down a witch whose sister ended up joining the Successor's estate and the fact that the Successor himself was targeted by another witch forced into the same job as her by the Inquisition.
  • Cold Sniper: A stoic girl who hunts for a living with a sniper rifle.
  • Hunter Of Her Own Kind: Though not by choice, she used to be this for the Inquisition in which she was tasked to kill 7 witches before they let her sister go. Unfortunately for her, the Inquisition invoked You Have Outlived Your Usefulness on her by having her be a target of a fellow witch hunter and that they may have killed her sister a long time ago. Unfortunately on them, the events of her final job and her being targeted inspired her to use her skills against them and protect her would-be killer's next target, who happened to be the Successor.
  • Revenge: She both wishes to seek revenge against the Inquisition for forcing her to do a dirty job and killing her sister, and believes that the sister of one of her targets is out for revenge against her in turn.
  • Sniper Rifle: Eir's Unique Weapon, the "M28 Magic Tracking Rifle", is one of these.
  • You Have Outlived Your Usefulness: On the receiving end by the Inquisition, so she now wishes to seek revenge against them.

    Fenny
Rarity: SR -> LR
Type: Sniper
Height and Weight: 146cm / 37kg
Blood Type: A
Birthday: 7/4
Lament: By My Side (JP by Rino Otsuka (YME); EN)
Voiced by: Megumi Han (JP);

A soldier from the Armed Forces of Humanity's Artillery Squadron, which she joined to be with the one who saved her life. She admires justice more than anyone but ends up questioning herself when she found the truth of her savior.

  • BFG: Fenny's Unique Weapon, the M260 Demon Buster, is a massive cannon that's longer than her.
  • Broken Pedestal: Fenny joined the Armed Forces to be with her savior but ended up with this after she seemingly turned traitor.
  • Empathic Weapon: When Fenny first tried out her cannon, it only left singes on a few rocks. After laughing at her for a bit, her comrades pointed out that it's strength isn't from the finger that pulled the trigger but from her heart. When Fenny's justice wavered when she found out that Commander Paladea was behind the black flames destroying the world, her cannon stopped working. It's only when she realized why she gained her sense of justice in the first place and the resolve to stop Paladea despite admiring her that her cannon can resound loud, true and explosively.
  • Naïve Newcomer: For the Armed Forces of Humanity, though she quickly rose to the rank of chief officer through hard work and effort.

    Fenrir
Rarity: SR -> LR
Type: Sorcerer
Height and Weight: 148cm / 40kg
Blood Type: O
Birthday: 11/1
Lament: My Treasure (JP by kano; EN)
Voiced by: Minami Takahashi (JP); A.M. Orlowski (EN)

A timid girl who yearns to become stronger to overcome a past tragedy where she failed to protect her younger sister Cerberus. Deep down however, she just wants to be spoiled and cry as someone gently pets her head, but she chooses to put Cerberus's needs over her own.

Fenrir uses what innate courage she has to muster up enough strength to protect her, her allies and especially Cerberus from harm. Her 1st active "Snow Wolf's Fangs" has Fenrir focusing her magic power and pouring her strength to deal 1 magical attack equivalent to up to 720% of her ATK to 1 random enemy, then decreases the skill cooldown time of up to 2 allies by 1 by wrapping those with the courage to step forward in a blanket of kindness. Her 2nd active "Icicle Shower" unleashes a devastatingly freezing blizzard and bathes allies in a rain of light by dealing 1 magical damage equal to up to 380% of her ATK to 5 random enemies and dispels 2 debuffs from her and up to 2 allies.

Fenrir's 1st passive "Snow Prism" has her pour healing light over her friends like snow which restores their HP by up to 20% of their max HP if they're attacked and their HP is lowered to 50% or below once every 2 turns, while her 2nd passive "Shout of Bravery" has her recite her magic words "It's okay now" which increases her DEF by up to 80%.

Once Fenrir gets her paws on her Unique Weapon "Vánagandr", "Snow Wolf's Fangs" decreases her allies' skill cooldown by 2 and increases their ATK by up to 20% for 2 turns as long as they're next to her.

  • Affectionate Gesture to the Head: Fenrir is the one on the giving end mostly to Cerberus, though as seen in Shared Family Quirks below she also desires to have one too.
  • Big Sister Instinct: To Cerberus, Fenrir was her whole world, so Fenrir would do anything to protect Cerberus.
  • "I Know You're in There Somewhere" Fight: Fenrir had to go through this to save Cerberus, who had become the Witch of Wailing Lightning.
  • Little Bit Beastly: Fenrir has wolf ears and a tail.
  • My Greatest Failure: She believed that she failed to protect Cerberus and that it's her fault the Lupus Confederacy ended up plagued by the Curse of Lightning from her Qlipha-turned sister. It's for this reason that she wants to become stronger.
  • Parental Abandonment: She and Cerberus were abandoned by their parents when they found out that the two were Witches.
  • Religious and Mythological Theme Naming: Fenrir and Cerberus are named after the mythological beasts in Norse and Greek mythology respectively.
  • Shared Family Quirks: She and Cerberus really enjoy headpats, though Fenrir chooses to put Cerberus's needs before her. As a result, when the Successor gives her the headpats that she secretly wanted, she gets flustered and her tail starts wagging.
  • Truck Driver's Gear Change: Fenrir's Lament has a noticeable one towards the end of the song.

    Florence

Rarity: SR -> LR
Type: Warrior
Height and Weight: 163cm / 47kg
Blood Type: A
Birthday: 2/3
Lament: Flag (JP by Wakana, EN)
Voiced by: Ayaka Suwa (JP); Dianna Conley (EN)

"I will not allow Fortina to shed another tear. Not again."

A girl whose vow to protect her friend Fortina was shattered when she was brainwashed by the Pope into attacking her and became the Grandmaster of the Knights of Longinus. After being saved by the Successor and rescuing Fortina, the two have since rekindled their bond to be stronger than ever.

To atone for attacking Fortina, Florence uses her skills gained as the former Grandmaster of the Knights of Longinus to protect her friend once more. Her 1st active "Scarlet Shimmer" has her lance emit a sharp scarlet light that deals up to 4 initial physical attacks equal to a max. of 480% of her ATK to random enemies, and every time she deals a Critical Hit, Florence's motivation grows, allowing her to deal more attacks up till 8 at maximum. Charging onto the battlefield, her 2nd skill "Dance of Twin Lances" deals 1 initial physical attack equal to up to 510% of of her ATK to 5 random enemies. With a yell of "Give it all you've got until the very end!", if an enemy is defeated by this skill, up to 2 more physical attacks equal to up to 560% of Florence's ATK is dealt to the enemy with the lowest current HP.

Remembering her vow from long ago, Florence's 1st passive "The Saint's Guardian" increases her chance to deal a critical hit by up to 6% to 90% at the start of each turn, and her 2nd passive "My Sacred Vow" takes her determination to uphold her oath to protect her allies by increasing her ATK and damage dealt by up to 30%.

Once Florence takes up her Unique Weapon "Lance of the Unbending Vow", "Scarlet Shimmer"'s initial physical attacks is increased to 6 with a maximum of 10 and decreases her targets' CRIT RES by 40% before attacking while "Dance of Twin Lances"' physical damage is increased to 525% of her ATK.

  • Brainwashed and Crazy: The Pope brainwashed her into attacking Fortina, who had become a witch, and then leading the Knights of Longinus as its Grandmaster. After the brainwashing is undone by the Successor and the Staff of Tikkun, Florence feels ashamed of her actions from that time.
  • Childhood Friends: With Fortina. Fortina saved her when she was ill and the two stuck by each other... until that fateful visit to the Pope.
  • Elite Tweak: Getting her to use her 1st active "Scarlet Shimmer" five times in guild raid. Due to said skill's 5 turn cooldown, it's impossible to guarantee it happening so if you have Fenrir and Mertillier with her, you need to carefully tune their speed such that they each have a chance of moving before or after Florence (due to how the speed mechanic works in this game), then having them move before Florence during certain turns and after her on certain others. While the chance of success is low, the damage it does when it succeeds (and it's quite probably the setup that deals the highest possible damage, at least for the vast majority of players) makes it more than worth the trouble, especially when you can simply reap that one result over and over after that.
  • Glass Cannon: Florence's kit is tailored to dealing critical hits; the more painful the better. With the right supports (Merlyn is her best friend for this), she can inflict even more painful critical hits. However, she doesn't have the defenses to keep her going strong and can be taken down rather easily.
  • Old Shame: In-Universe, Florence refers to her time as the Grandmaster of the Knights of Longinus as this, and is embarrassed when fellow knights like Arianrhod call her that.

    Gil'uial
Rarity: SR -> LR
Type: Sorcerer
Height and Weight: 126 cm / 33kg
Blood Type: A
Birthday: 5/1
Lament: A Strange Piece of Art (JP by Lucia; EN)
Voiced by: Yumiri Hanamori (JP);

A girl who was born a witch in a hidden village in the far reaches of the Duchy of Fran, Gil'uial is also known as the "Witch of Eternal Youth". With this, she has embarked on many travels and has seen many witches come and go, including Merlyn's master. Because of her innate talent, she has absolute confidence in her abilities, often referring to herself as "The Great Gil'uial".

  • The Ace: When she was born, she became the first witch in the history of her village to have magical powers at birth, practically remaining unrivalled for her time on top of longevity.
  • Accidental Pervert: Whatever rumors she heard, her 2nd invoke line calls the Successor out as "The degenerate with witches at his beck and call"... which isn't wrong, but "degenerate" is a touch exaggerated.
  • The Ageless: Her powers essentially make her this.
  • The Beastmaster: Gil'uial's 3rd homescreen line has her explain to the Successor that she saw Hathor and Primavera's birds and tried to raise some mice as her familiars to perform the same functions as them. Unfortunately for her the rats haven't done much progress yet so she asks to keep it a secret from Monica and Iris.
  • Cosmic Motifs: In terms of attire, her black theme combined with the stars hanging from the brim of her hat, a large crescent moon on top of it, and the sun-shaped medallion hanging by her side all evoke observations of the night sky. Her skill names and their icons also have the related motifs. All this likely came from her life spent travelling the world, as well as having lived long to see the sun and moon cycle for at least centuries.
  • Dark Is Not Evil: She has a notable dark palette to mimic the sky at night, added on to by her twilight-themed skills. Regardless, she's a good person at heart.
  • Everyone Has Standards: Gil'uial takes pride in her not being able to age, but to witches who have actual Immortality like Fia? She thinks the gods are a tad too cruel to subject them to it.
  • Irony: She couldn't build a country for witches, yet a certain Successor who wasn't even a witch made it happen, and in the country she lived in no less.
  • Older Than She Looks: Pretty much justified due to her being The Ageless. She's lived long enough to know Rosalie before she started serving the current Successor (and possibly the only one able to get away with calling her a "granny") and Merlyn's master.
  • Third-Person Person: Gil'uial is this when referring to herself, combined with The Adjectival Superhero in the English dub. In Japanese she uses "wagahai" instead.
  • Tragic Dream: In her youth, she once thought to found a country for witches, but her time spent travelling made her see that nations the world over would see such a thing put down. She met a witch that actually attempted to make one despite Gil's attempts to dissuade her... and given that there's been no news, we can expect the worst. By the present however, she found that the Duchy of Fran became that dream made manifest, a laughable irony that didn't get past her.
  • Walking the Earth: When she became of age, she left her village to do this, growing Older and Wiser all the while.
  • Witch Classic: With a bigger hat than Merlyn's, even! Also cackles like one.

    Illya
Rarity: R -> SSR+
Type: Warrior
Height and Weight: 155cm / 43kg
Blood Type: A
Birthday: 7/20
Lament: Everglow (JP by Daoko; EN)
Voiced by: Kana Hanazawa (JP); Erika Harlacher (EN)

The very first girl you meet who is responsible for delivering the Staff of Tikkun to the Successor. A strict but gentle girl, she was formerly a daughter of a fallen noble family, and carries the responsibility passed down by her parents in her heart: to serve the people and protect the world. As a witch, her power is unique but its true nature is yet unknown.

Illya uses pure power from her heart to defeat enemies standing in the way of her and the Successor's goals. Her first active skill is "Strike of Conviction", a power buried deep in her heart which turns her sword red which can deal physical damage of up to 430% of her ATK when fully upgraded to 1 enemy and inflicts [Fainted] for 2 turns. Her second active "Slash of Fortitude" is the result of the power from her soul which deals 1 physical attack equal to 420% of her ATK to a random enemy which eventually becomes 180% of her STR.

Lastly, Illya's passive skill "Unyielding Heart" increases her ATK by up to 30%, a testament to her unwavering heart in the face of adversity.

Illya is also one of 2 SR Witches released for MementoMori's 1st Anniversary with her [Witch of God's Curse] variant, the other being Elfriede. For more information, see her tab here.

  • Boring, but Practical: Illya's skills purely focus on attacks and have little to no gimmicks, but her first active, which also induces [Fainted] for 2 turns, is why she's still one of the more useful R-rarity Witches in the game, which shines particularly when the player fights against A.A.
  • The Chooser of the One: When the Pope selected Illya to be The Chooser of the One for the Successor of the Staff of Tikkun, Illya initially couldn't accept it as the idea of saving the world when she couldn't even save her homeland sounded unreasonable. The Pope however stated that she has absolute faith that Illya could find the Successor in spite of this, which is why Illya determinedly traveled all over the world. Just as Illya was getting worried that she couldn't find the Successor as she just didn't have any more time to search through the world again, she finally found him at the very last place she visited: The Duchy of Fran. The Successor turned out to be the Duke in Fran's largest city (aka the Player Character) and Illya could tell right away at first glance that he was The Chosen One due to his light being so warm and gentle.
  • The Determinator: Her Memories reveal that she's been crippled by self-doubt after her helplessness from watching her family fall and, despite the Pope's encouragement, stayed worried about her quest to find the Successor. Even then, she steels herself to save people rather than fail this time from the Curses.
  • Series Mascot: The main face of the Memento Mori app.
  • Starter Mon: The first Witch who joins you on your adventure.
  • Trademark Favourite Food: Cakes; which she loves to indulge in on occasion. Some of her homescreen lines have her attempting (for lack of a better word) to not eat 1 more cake and sharing some with the Successor while keeping it a secret from Iris.
  • Weight Woe: Her 7th home voice line has her pout over the fact that she gained weight while the Successor's weight stayed the same despite both eating the same food.
  • Secretly Dying: It is revealed early on that while the Staff of Tikkun seems to be dispelling the curse, it may actually be Illya who is actually consuming the curse at cost of her life. Only Illya knows about this for now, but she does not tell others about this yet. This is because she knows that kind Successor would try to save her too even if God's miracle requires her soul to be sacrificed in order to save the world according to her 11th home voice line. It turns out that Illya serves as a Sealed Evil in a Can where she is the can while sealed evil is the demon lord.

    Iris
Rarity: R -> SSR+
Type: Warrior
Height and Weight: 150cm / 44kg
Blood Type: A
Birthday: 9/30
Lament: Twilight (JP by Hakubi; EN)
Voiced by: Inori Minase (JP); Rachel Slotky (EN)

"Leave the rest to me."

A girl with a rigid, attentive personality who serves as the Successor's bodyguard and attendant in his daily life. Having been rescued by him from the Church of Longinus in her past, even after knowing she was a Witch, she dedicates her entire being to him, a passion unrivaled by most.

Devoting herself to the Successor, Iris will fight to protect him at all costs. The first active, "Guardian's Blade", powers up a singular hit by up to 350% that also targets three enemies (five at Lvl 3). The second active, "Sword of Allegiance", does the same as the first, with the addition of a [Bleed] debuff she impairs enemies with by dealing damage equivalent to 20% of her ATK.

Meanwhile, her passive skill "Untold Feelings", channels said feelings for the Successor into a [Multi-Barrier] buff (and [Debuff Immunity] at Lvl. 2) applied onto the ally with the highest ATK; when that ally takes 10% damage or higher of their max HP, the buff is removed while the damage is nullified.

On 26 December 2023, Iris received her [Attendant Tainted in Black] variant. For more information about her Aura of Amber Alternate Self, see here.

  • Alternate Self: Her [Attendant Tainted in Black] version is a version of herself who was not picked up by the Successor and became his loyal attendant. Her personality as a result takes a drastically dark turn.
  • Battle Ballgown: She wears a pristine white dress under a chestplate covering most of her upper body.
  • BFS: Her weapon of choice is a claymore slightly taller than her that she swings with no problem.
  • Cannot Spit It Out: Implied towards the Successor in her third skill's description, "Untold Feelings".
  • Cleavage Window: Her chestplate has a significant window showing off her modest chest.
  • Lady and Knight: A gender-inverted trope. Though not an official knight, she evokes the image of one with her sword, armor, white color palette, and steadfast but gentle demeanor, complete with her servitude to the Successor.
  • Number Two: Of all the Witches, Iris is the first Witch to be saved by the Successor and the one who stayed with him the longest, Monica being the second going by the chronology of their Memories. She serves as his attendant in all matters, especially when it comes to running territory matters and paperwork.
  • Parental Abandonment: Her mother had an affair with another man, leaving her gambling-addicted drunk of a husband and their daughter to fend for themselves. It gets worse when debt collectors came for them because of her father and, seeing them penniless, decide to take Iris as collateral—her anger at this situation is how she turned into a Witch and thrashed them. When she throws the collectors out of the house though, along with her father who never repaid her for her hard work, she is hunted down by Knights of Longinus, who were notified by her own father. He was rewarded a bag of coins that he apparently deemed worth his daughter's life.
  • Rescue Romance: Her fourth Memory has her being taken under the Successor's wing as his attendant after taking injuries from the Knights of Longinus. She is taken by his kindness in turn since then.
  • Team Mom: She's in charge of the mansion's housekeeping, which means taking care of everyone living in it. It helps that she's devoted to the Successor, who himself acts like a spoiling patriarch of this rambunctious family of Witches while Iris brings down the necessary strictness to keep the troublemakers in line.
Home 9: It is great that more people are staying at the estate as of late...but they run through the halls, and leave everything a mess... Seriously, who do they even think cleans around here? ...I should make them all my apprentices and re-educate them on common courtesy...
  • Undying Loyalty: Though all the other girls show this to the Successor, Iris stands out because of this particular quality, having all but pledged herself to the protection of her charge.
  • Workaholic: Her Home 10 voice line indicates she's not at all used to vacations and has work in her mind all the time. In her birthday greeting, she even says that the Successor can only have cake once they've taken care of the documents that needs looking at.

    Loki
Rarity: R -> SSR+
Type: Sniper
Height and Weight: 167cm / 45kg
Blood Type: AB
Birthday: 9/1
Lament: Believe (JP by Yuuka Ueno; EN)
Voiced by: Arisa Sakuraba (JP); Brooke Hayden (EN)

A former nun turned bewitching fortune-teller, Loki ran away from the Church of Longinus and eludes their pursuit when she was made accomplice to their Witch Hunts via her exploited divinations. Taking interest in the Successor's destiny, she joins him to see his future unfold before her very eyes.

Loki uses her seductive looks and fortune-telling to guide you and the party to a bright future. Her 1st active "Honey Trap" has her asking the enemy with the highest ATK "Care to dance with me?", dealing 1 physical attack equal to up to 370% of her ATK to them. With a "This is our little secret", she also has a 50% chance at max. level to inflict [Silence] to the enemy. Her 2nd active "The Tower" predicts a fate of calamity with her tarot cards, dealing 1 physical damage equal to up to 420% of Loki's ATK to the enemy with the lowest current HP; if they're defeated this way Loki also gets [Shield] equal to up to 300% of her ATK for 2 turns.

Using her passive "The Chariot", Loki draws out said tarot card to increase her SPD by 10% and once upgraded increases her chance to deal a critical hit by 10%.

  • Fortune Teller: Loki's current profession.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: Loki wasn't very happy when her divinations were key in so many fellow witches falling victim to the Witch Hunts. It's for this reason that she ran away from the Church.
  • Naughty Nuns: Before she defected from the Church.
  • Tarot Motifs: Loki attributes the World and the Wheel of Fortune to her friend who eventually became the Pope and ordered her to seek out witches for the Witch Hunt, and later re-associates the former card with the Successor. Additionally, two of her skills are based on The Tower and The Chariot.

    Moddey
Rarity: SR -> LR
Type: Sorcerer
Height and Weight: 142cm / 39kg
Blood Type: AB
Birthday: 11/23
Lament: Doki Doggy Night (JP by Alfakyun; EN)
Voiced by: Aoi Yūki (JP); Andi Gibson (EN)

A gravekeeper living on the outskirts of the Lupus Confederacy who takes it upon herself to watch over the graves of the dead after her village was ravaged by a plague. Despite her cocky attitude, she loves taking care of others.

Moddey raises the dead (literally) to fight for the cause. Her first active "Rest in Peace" has her summon the souls of the dead to deal 1 magical attack equal to 380% of her ATK once fully upgraded to 4 random enemies, inflicts [Poison] on them for 2 turns that saps up 3% of their current HP and at lvl 2 dispels 1 buff if it's a critical hit. Her second active "Call the Reaper" has her possessed by a grudgeful evil spirit which once fully upgraded deals up to 4 magical attacks equivalent to 380% of her ATK at random enemies, adding [Blight] on top of that if they've been poisoned as well for 4 turns.

The deceased in turn help Moddey out via her first passive "Prayer of Mourning" by granting her [Regeneration] for up to 3 turns if she's attacked and her HP falls below 70% and 40% for the first time that restores HP equal to 10% of her max. HP each turn, and at lvl 2 grants an additional [Counter Shift] for up to 3 turns that deals damage equal to 200% of her ATK when she counter-attacks. Moddey also has a "Funeral Bell" that's her second passive which calls upon the dead to increase her ATK by up to 30% and at max. level also increases her chance to deal critical hits by 30%.

Once Moddey is equipped with her Unique Weapon "Entombment of Shadows", "Rest in Peace"'s [Poison] lasts for 4 turns and its damage increases to up to 5% of a target's current HP.

On July 17 2023, Moddey became the 2nd Character to get a Summer variant, [Gravekeeper's Summer Holiday] as a Aura of Amber Witch. For more information, see here.

  • Cute Little Fangs: Has a pair that emphasizes her cuteness. They can be seen more clearly when she's attacking.
  • Demonic Possession: Implied from her 2nd active's description to be happening to her when she attacks.
  • Forgot About Her Powers: Moddey initially spends the first part of Sabrina (Summer)'s Memory story refusing to go into the water, but after a cursed creature attacks the kids and Sabrina's scared stiff because it was pressing her Trauma Button, Moddey pulls a Get A Hold Of Yourself Man while heading into the water. It's only after the creature is defeated and Sabrina points out that Moddey might have gotten over her aquaphobia that she remembers that she's supposed to be afraid of water and proceeds to make a beeline for the shore while begging for Laila to save her.
  • Heroes Love Dogs: One of the good guys and she used to own a dog named Laila, who's now implied to be the spirit with her.
  • Little Bit Beastly: A cute girl with dog ears and tail.
  • Poisonous Person: Moddey's actives focus on the [Poison] status ailment.
  • Situational Sword: Moddey's actives depend heavily on whether the opponent has [Poison]. Her 1st passive "Prayer of Mourning" also requires her HP to be at a specific range to proc and will only activate once.
  • Why Did It Have to Be Snakes?: The description for Sabrina's Summer variant reveals that Moddey is afraid of water. Her own Summer variant goes into more detail that she nearly drowned when she was younger, resulting in said fear.

Lament: Backstabber (JP by rionos; EN by Brooke Williams)

An calm and reserved apprentice handmaiden who aims to become a full-fledged one. Prior to working for the Duke, she's been chased out of many households due to her being a witch. Despite hating fighting, she always tries her best.

As your trustworthy handmaiden, Monica is there to make sure you and the rest of your party are always in tip-top shape and ready to go. Her 1st active "Please Do Your Best!" has her deal 1 physical attack equal to 105% of her ATK to 1 random enemy and also restores HP equal to 60% of her ATK to 3 random allies as part of her devotion to her duties. Meanwhile, her love for her friends at the estate and her assistance as a handmaiden becomes her 2nd skill "I'll Help Out!", allowing her to restore HP equal to 80% of her ATK to the ally with the lowest current HP and increases their DEF by 20% for 2 turns.

  • Fairytale Motifs: Her Lament constantly compares herself to The Little Mermaid, comparing her desire to become a handmaiden for someone to the Mermaid's desire to become human and fall in love. Her Memories even start out the same way as the Mermaid's; following her sisters' footsteps in becoming a handmaiden. The 'backstabber' in her song refers to the lords and ladies who threw her out upon finding out she was a witch.
  • Healing Hands: Until you get witches such as Freesia and Fortina, Monica serves as your main healer, with her kit specifically aimed at healing the party.

Lament: The Traveler (JP by matsuri; EN)

"I know for sure that you’re the master of this sword, my lord...or...not...?!"

A girl from a small island off the Kingdom of Vyde who is cursed by a legendary black sword to find its true master or die trying after accidentally picking it up. Lazy by nature, the curse has now become her motivation to travel the world to find someone who can lift it before it's too late.

Even on her quest to find its true owner, the cursed sword is Sivi's best hope of survival. Her 1st active "Fortifying Blade" increases the damage Sivi deals by up to 25% for 4 turns, increasing further by up to 45%, 60%, 70% or 75% the more she's attacked (up to 4 times), cumulating in her dealing 1 physical attack equal to 980% of her ATK to the enemy with the highest ATK and restores HP equal to 30% of the skill's total damage to her. Her 2nd active "Life-Stealing Strike" has the ebony blade steal its enemy's lifeforce by dealing 1 physical attack equal to up to 530% of Sivi's ATK to 3 random enemies, then shares the stolen lifeforce with Sivi's allies by restoring HP equal to 15% of its total damage to up to 3 allies with the lowest SPD, and starting from lvl 2 also dispels their debuffs.

Believing that fighting's a pain in the butt and wanting her allies to finish the job for her, Sivi's 1st passive "Let's Work Our Butts Off!" has the cursed sword grant her wish by increasing the DEF and PDEF of Sivi and up to 2 adjacent allies by 100% each and being the "Magic Sword's Ward", Sivi's 2nd passive of that name has her sword continue to ward her from danger until her mission is complete by dispelling all debuffs from her once every 4 turns if she's afflicted with 2 or more debuffs, and at higher levels also decreases the damage taken by up to 30% for 3 turns.

After reforging Sivi's Unique Weapon "Daybringer", "Fortifying Blade"'s damage from its physical attack is increased to 1170% of her ATK, the increase in damage dealt is increased to 30%, becoming 54%, 72%, 84% or 90% each time she's attacked while "Life Stealing Strike"'s targets is increased to 4 random enemies.

  • All Myths Are True: A local legend from her island goes as such: "Whoever finds the ebony sword will become its wielder but must find its 'true master' before it takes their lifeforce." Sivi initially didn't want anything to do with the tale but after picking the sword up on pure instinct to fend off the cursed creatures, she realized that the story was true and she now has to complete its quest before it's too late, much to her annoyance.
    • Later it becomes Subverted when the sword reveals its true story to her in a dream: A witch created the sword to be used during a time of crisis and gave it the will to choose its own master, then created the "cursed sword" story to ensure that the person who found it would have to travel the world with it.
  • BFS: The cursed sword is a lot bigger than Sivi herself is.
  • The Chosen One: Of a large black sword that happens to be cursed. The cursed part is false but it does intend to make Sivi its master.
  • Clingy MacGuffin: Whoever discovered the cursed sword will have to hold on to it or it will drain their lifeforce unless they find its true master. However, since the fact that the sword is cursed is false and Sivi is indeed its chosen one, it sticks by her regardless. At the end of her Character Memory, Sivi calls the sword her "partner", though she still wants to find it a better master and then go on a long relaxing vacation.
  • Empathic Weapon: The ebony sword Sivi wields is this; having been granted sentience to choose the person worthy enough to be its master. So far it can only communicate to Sivi via telepathy, and for a very short time at that. It can also heal her via unknown means.
  • I Call It "Vera": The cursed ebony sword is named "Daybringer".
  • Lazy Bum: Sivi wants nothing more than to laze around and sleep the day away. Unfortunately, the black sword she picked up just so happened to be the cursed sword from the local legend so she's off trying to find the sword's true master before it kills her.
  • Mercury's Wings: Sivi's helmet gives this impression, making her resemble a Valkyrie.
  • Only the Chosen May Wield: The black sword Sivi wields is the one that chooses its "master", and only responds to that person, but said person will have to find its "true master" before it sucks the life out of them. In an attempt to save her own skin, she had asked the Successor, Amleth, fellow 'knight' witches staying with him and even someone heavily implied to be Fortina if they were the true wielder, only for them to sadly respond with a "no". As it turns out, the "draining the swordwielder's lifeforce" part is false and was only created so that the person the sword chose in the first place had to travel with it regardless.

Lament: My Stuffed Bear (JP by Koresawa; EN)
Voiced by: Yoshino Nanjo (JP); Giselle Fernandez (EN)

A girl who works as a baker hailing from the Principality of Brook who loves her sister, Lunalynn, more than anything else in the world. Unlike Lunalynn however, her personality is bright, cheerful and sunny.

Soltina utilizes her own icy powers to ensure her big sister's safety and to defeat anyone who would separate them. Her first active "Snow Dream" has Soltina send a rush of cold air towards the enemy that deals 1 magical attack equal to up to of 460% of her ATK to a max. of 3 random enemies, decreasing their Crit. RES by 80% and inflicts [Sleep] if said attack is a critical hit until they're next attacked. Her 2nd active "Ice Spine" is the result of Rosalie's lessons on how to weave a ice blade from her enemy's magic that deals 1 magical attack equal to 780% of her ATK at max. level to the enemy with the highest ATK, freezing them and has a 70% chance (100% once fully upgraded) to inflict [Fainted] for 1 turn if their MAG is lower than Soltina's own.

No matter how tough things get, Soltina believes that as long as she has her stuffed bear, Lunalynn will save her through her 1st passive "My Stuffed Bear" by dispelling all of her debuffs if she's hit with one while already having 2 or more once every 4 turns and increases her chance to inflict a critical hit by 50% at max. level for 2 turns. Meanwhile, her 2nd passive "Sisterly Bond", which she shares with her sister, takes her determination to save Lunalynn by granting up to 4 layers of unremovable [Multi-Barrier] every 4 turns that at max. level also increases her chance to deal critical hits by 30%; if she takes damage equal to 10% or higher of her max. HP, 1 [Multi-Barrier] will be depleted to nullify the damage.

The moment Soltina is equipped with her Unique Weapon "Solsphere", "Snow Dream"'s magical attack damage is increased to 480% of her ATK and targets 4 random enemies while "Ice Spine"'s [Fainted] lasts for 2 turns instead.

  • Affectionate Nickname: Lunalynn calls her "Sol".
  • Big Sister Worship: Soltina adores her big sister Lunalynn, despite the latter's gloomy personality.
  • Call-Back: In the English dub, Lunalynn's Lament has the lyric "Memories of loving you, loving you start fading to white", to reflect her slowly succumbing to the madness that is her power as a Witch of Qlipha. Soltina's Lament has a similar lyric "Memories of loving you will never fade to white", reflecting her desire to save Lunalynn at all costs.
  • Fairytale Motifs: She and Lunalynn embody the story of Hans Christian Andersen's The Snow Queen, with Soltina taking on the role of Gerda; going through various trials in order to save her sister from the cold.
  • Girlish Pigtails: Held together with small ribbons.
  • An Ice Person: Like her sister, Soltina has ice powers, albeit slightly weaker while being easier to control.
  • Parental Abandonment: The moment Soltina displayed her powers at the age of 6, her parents threw her out. Lunalynn accompanied her in order to keep her safe.
  • Stellar Theme Naming: Soltina and Lunalynn. Sun and Moon. Get it?
  • Tragic Keepsake: Her teddy bear, which is the focus of her Lament. According to her Memories, Lunalynn was the one who made it and gave it to her to comfort her when she was kicked out of the house by her parents. It becomes more tragic after Lunalynn gets captured by the Inquisition and tortured, then becomes the Witch of Snowy Illusions and covers the Principality of Brook with the Curse of Ice. At the end of both sisters' Memories however, the bear becomes a happier symbol of their bond.

"It's time to set sail towards our future!"

Hailing from the Kingdom of Vyde, Sonya's dream is to become a Viking. Despite losing her family to the Curse of Crystals, her bright and cheerful personality along with her admiration of Queen Amelth inspires her to travel and save those who have fallen victim to the Curses plaguing her home country.

This aspiring Viking will stop at nothing to uphold her family's legacy and help to save the Kingdom of Vyde from the Curse of Crystals! Her 1st active "Axe Bomber" has Sonya bring down a heavy strike that roars like thunder which deals 1 physical attack equal to 400% of her ATK to the enemy with the highest current HP, with her Viking spirit guaranteeing that it will be a Critical Hit if the target's remaining HP percentage is 60% and above. At higher levels, an additional 1 direct attack equal to 250% of her DEX will also be dealt if the target hasn't been defeated by the skill and will reactivate until the target goes down. Her 2nd active "Black Storm" takes the form of a swift assault by Sonya that tears through enemies like a whirlwind, dealing 1 physical attack equal to 400% of her ATK to the enemy with the lowest current HP, and if the target's remaining HP percentage is 60% and below, Sonya's Viking instincts will guarantee that it will be a Critical Hit. After upgrades, an additional 1 direct attack equal to up to 280% of her DEX will also be dealt if the target hasn't been defeated by the skill and will reactivate until the target's defeat.

With a "Skal!", Sonya's 1st passive of that name has her down a drink which increases her max. HP and chance to hit by up to 30% and 50% respectively and from level 2 onwards also increases her ATK by up to 30%, while her 2nd passive "Viking Power!" has Sonya let out a Viking cry of triumph that increases all allies' ATK by up to 3% at the start of the battle, further increasing by up to 3% for each ally apart from Sonya herself who's still alive at the start of the battle and at higher levels also does the same to their HP.

Once Sonya claims her Unique Weapon "Viking's Twin Axes", "Axe Bomber"'s physical attack's damage increases to up to 720% if she's involved in a Guild or Grand Battle and the direct attack's damage is increased to 280% of her DEX.

  • Big Eater: Sonya loves eating as much as fighting, and her loss line has her lament that she didn't eat enough.
  • Dual Wielding: Sonya wields her hand axes in both hands.
  • Genki Girl: Cheerful and very active indeed.
  • Goal in Life: To be the best Viking, of course!
  • Gratuitous Foreign Language: Sonya peppers her speech with Scandinavian languages, as befitting a Viking.
  • Hero Worship: Of Queen Amelth after she saved her from the side effects of the Curse of Crystals.
  • Lightning Bruiser: A heavy-hitter who's also one of the fastest in the game.
  • Optional Boss: Along with Luke, Sonya can be fought in the Guild Raid as the recurring Raid Boss.
  • Plucky Girl: Sonya lost her family to Ophelia's Curse of Crystals but this does not faze her one bit. In fact, she's only more determined to become a Viking to save everyone.
  • Promoted to Playable: Sonya was implemented on 28 December 2022, giving players the chance to play the other recurring Guild Boss.
  • This Looks Like a Job for Aquaman: Sonya after crafting and enhancing her Unique Weapon is especially catered to gameplay modes involving guilds, in which her 1st active "Axe Bomber" turns her into a massive threat if she's used there. Outside of Guild and Grand Battles she's at least still decent with her speed.

    Stella

Lament: Child's Spell (JP by LON; EN)

A girl claiming to be a witch known as the "Sovereign of the Stars" with grandiose fantasies who idolized witches as heroes ever since one saved her life when she was young. After a fateful encounter, she set off on a journey beyond her wildest dreams. Sealed inside her umbrella is a great, dark force known as "Chaos Queller", or she claims.

Even if she isn't at that level yet, Stella's powers will soon be worthy of the "Sovereign of the Stars". Her 1st active "Spell of Chaos" has Stella cast a spell of her own creation as "the supreme ruler of darkness" that deals 1 physical attack equal to up to 400% of her ATK to up to 3 enemies with the lowest remaining HP percentages, additionally having a 20% chance to inflict [Silence] on all targets for a turn and if one of them has a lower STR than Stella the chance to inflict [Silence] on them is increased to 40%. Stella's 2nd active "Unleash the Evil Eye" has her perform the classic Chuunibyou act of releasing her power sealed with her eyepatch that deals 1 physical attack equal to up to a whopping 1200% of her ATK to the enemy with the highest ATK and restores HP equal to up to 50% of the skill's total damage to the ally with the lowest remaining HP percentage.

After many years of continuous practice, Stella's efforts in making her made-up spells become reality pay off, one of which is her 1st passive "Stella's Sovereign Shield" which grants her [Shield] equal to up to 800% of her ATK for up to 6 turns while her 2nd passive "Sovereign of the Stars" has her place faith that her Boss's light will always protect her by increasing her DEF by up to 50% for 10 turns, which decreases by 1 turn every time she's attacked. Once the effect is gone, if Stella is attacked, her DEF is increased again to up to 50% for 10 turns and has a 40% chance to inflict [Silence] on 5 random enemies for up to 2 turns unless she's defeated by that attack.

Once Stella awakens her Unique Weapon "Chaos Queller" once more, Stella's SPD is increased by 25% for 1 turn at the start of the battle, "Spell of Chaos"'s chance to inflict [Silence] is increased to 40% (80% if a target's STR is lower than hers) and "Sovereign of the Stars"'s chance to inflict [Silence] is increased to 80%.

  • Alliterative Name: Stella's passives "Stella's Sovereign Shield" and "Sovereign of the Stars". They started out as made-up spells, after all.
  • Ascended Fangirl: Stella's always idolized witches as heroes and after a chance encounter with the Successor and the witches fighting by his side she awakens her powers and gets to join them.
  • Cannot Spit It Out: Her line when awakened to LR or higher.
  • Chuunibyou: All of her actions and words are derived from what she thought the witch who saved her life when she was younger behaved like, which is basically the classic depiction of the Evil Eye type. However, she does display traces of her actual personality and occasionally slips up on one of her grandiose speeches, and unlike most Evil Eye Chuunibyous she does get actual magical powers. Even after that however, she still keeps up the act.
  • Declaration of Protection: Stella is the first character to explicitly be stated to not become a witch until after she met the Successor, and that she became one out of a desire to protect him.
  • Eyepatch of Power: Stella wears one of these as part of her "Sovereign of the Stars" persona. According to her, the witch that saved her also wore one.
  • Hero with Bad Publicity: At least that what she thinks of witches saving people.
  • Hero Worship: Of the witch also known by the title of the Sovereign of the Stars who saved her from a rampaging horse when she was 5, to the point of emulating her.
  • Large Ham: Whenever she channels her "Sovereign of the Stars" persona, which brings to mind Nidothing in the Japanese dub.
  • Parasol of Pain: Stella's umbrella "Chaos Queller" is not only pretty, but it also has a great dark power sealed within it (at least according to her) but on a more practical note it's her Unique Weapon.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: Her Defeat line.
  • Shrinking Violet: She's heavily implied to be a lot shyer than she lets on.
  • Suspiciously Specific Denial: When she first crafts her witch persona, she claims that "solitude fits her perfectly" and "she isn't lonely in the slightest"... with a slight frown on her face when she says that "heroes don't need anyone but themselves". Once she befriends the other witches from the Successor's estate, she is ecstatic that there are witches who share similar goals as her.
  • Ungrateful Townsfolk: It is shown in Stella's 7th Memory that this is what the Successor and other witches with him face as townsfolk falsely blame their Witch saviors for spreading calamity and thus driving them out of town.

Variants

    Tropon (Winter)

Holy Night's Prayer

Rarity: SR -> LR
Type: Sorcerer
Height and Weight: 125cm / 28kg
Blood Type: A
Birthday: 5/11
Lament: I Wish (JP by maimie; EN)
Voiced by: Yuuki Kuwahara (JP); Meg McClain (EN)

A daughter of former nobles who eventually grows up to be the notorious swindler witch. When Tropon became a witch, her parents blindly put their trust in the Church to cure her "disease", but something about their ways caused Tropon to start distrusting the Church. One Holy Night, she discovers a strange hole that transcends time and space, and starts using it to communicate with a man who would become the Successor she will befriend in the future.

The little girl who will eventually become everyone's favourite swindler uses illusions to steal her opponents' stats and make them her own, with a little help from the magic of the Holy Night. Tropon's 1st active "Miracle Stars" summons stars from a hole connected to space-time that rains down at the enemy and absorbs 15% of ATK and DEF from whoever has the highest remaining HP into her own for 2 turns, which is determined by her Debuff ACC for each stat, then deals 1 direct attack equal to up to 15% of their current HP to them and at higher levels also grants Tropon [Shield] equal to 50% of the skill's total damage for 2 turns. However, the attack will never be a Critical Hit and the damage dealt will not exceed 500% of her ATK post-absorption. Her 2nd active "Illusion!" operates differently from the Illusion her older self casts by dealing 1 magical attack from the space-time hole equal to up to 340% of her ATK to 5 random enemies and has an up to 20% chance of inflicting [Fainted] to all of them for 1 turn, and from level 2 onwards increases the number of turns of every buff Tropon is enhanced with by 1 if a target isn't defeated by the active.

The Holy Night is famous for granting miracles and magic alike and tonight is no different, with Tropon's 1st passive "Holy Night's Prayer" utilizing its wish-granting powers to give her an up to 30% chance to dispel a buff from a target whenever she attacks, gaining its effect to her and is also affected by her 2nd active "Illusion!" under the same conditions as the ones she already has. Meanwhile, the "White Lies" the young Tropon has been fed to by her parents and the Church manifest as her 2nd passive by increasing her max HP by up to 40%, and starting from level 2 does the same to her chance to inflict a debuff.

Upon Tropon being gifted with her Unique Weapon "Pon Pon" for the holidays, "Miracle Stars"'s direct attack's damage becomes equal to 20% of the target's current HP, its [Shield] becomes 100% of its total damage and the ATK and DEF it absorbs is increased to 35% each.

As Tropon and Tropon (Winter) are the same Character, both can be deployed in the same team. For more information on her older Aura of Amber self, see here.

  • Breaking Old Trends: This version of Tropon is the first variant to not be just the character dressed up for the occassion; instead she is Tropon before she became a swindler.
  • Children Are Innocent: The younger Tropon refers to all grown males as "Daddy" and all grown females as "Mommy". The Successor is taken aback and Amour starts going into Clingy Jealous Girl mode because she assumed that the Successor is an actual father but eventually rolls with it. This sadly comes to an end when the Church's Knights killed her parents and she realized that her parents were tricked by them so that they could steal everything from her home.
  • Foreshadowing: Eagle-eyed players realized that Tropon's moose horns are smaller than usual. Then it's revealed that this version of Tropon is her younger self.
  • Girls Love Stuffed Animals: Tropon carries a teddy bear named Pon Pon which was a gift to her from her mother.
  • Improbable Weapon User: Being a young girl, Tropon's Unique Weapon is her teddy bear Pon Pon. Sometime down the road, she left it behind and swapped to the more practical daggers that she uses as a teen.
  • Parents as People: Yes, Tropon's parents were kind to her but they also believed the Church's lies that they thought would cure her of her witchdom, and paid for it with everything they had and eventually their lives.
  • Parental Abandonment: Tropon's parents kicked her out of the house and were then killed by the Church's Knights in an attempt to protect her. During the holiday season no less. No wonder she eventually grew up to be a swindler determined to rob the Church.
  • Revenge: The end of her Character Memory story eventually reveals why she became a Compulsive Liar: the Church lied and deceived her parents to steal everything they had and then killed them during the season of the Holy Night. So she decided to get back at the Church by fooling and deceiving them throughout the year to steal all their money and distribute her spoils to other witches.
