Digimon

    In General
  • Gratuitous German: The Digimon characters created by CloudStrifeHero who speak are all voiced by recorded excerpts from the German Digimon anime dubs. According to the author on the vanilla Crusade Discord server (before the modding community split off into a different server), it's all Author Appeal based on his childhood experiences.

    BlackAgumon and SnowAgumon
Character Mod Creator: CloudStrifeHero

Additional variants of Agumon, both available as "modes" for Agumon in CMC+: BlackAgumon is the evil Virus variant, while SnowAgumon is a variant adapted to snowy fields

  • Breath Weapon: BlackAgumon has green-colored versions of Agumon's flame breath, and SnowAgumon is the ice-breathing variant.
  • Death from Above: SnowAgumon uses White Hail for his Down-B, summoning a hail cloud which can be activated to rain down hail on another Down-B input.
  • Fire/Water Juxtaposition: Both Agumon and BlackAgumon breathe fire, whereas SnowAgumon breathes ice.
  • Man Bites Man: SnowAgumon uses Ice Chomp for his Down-B, biting with his ice-infused fangs.
  • Moveset Clone: Played straight with BlackAgumon, sharing Agumon's Baby Flame, Baby Burner, Claw Uppercut, and Digivolution mechanic that Agumon has. Comparatively downplayed for SnowAgumon however, as his own Side-B and Down-B are completely different.
  • Sickly Green Glow: To signify BlackAgumon's evil nature, his flames are colored green.
  • Super Mode: BlackAgumon Digivolves into BlueGreymon in a similar fashion to Agumon: accumulating meter with attacks or Down-B then activated on Down-B with a full meter. Averted with SnowAgumon, who doesn't have a Greymon variant.
  • Technicolor Fire: BlackAgumon's flames are given a Sickly Green Glow.

    Patamon (CMC+ variant) and Tsukaimon
Character Mod Creator: CloudStrifeHero

Variants of Patamon: the CMC+ variant is the default for the build and is mostly the same as Crusade's version, but smaller and has a Digivolution mechanic. Tsukaimon is an Evil Counterpart who serves as a clone. The vanilla Crusade version is available as "Patamon (Alt)"

  • Moveset Clone: Tsukaimon has variants of CMC+ Patamon's moves, all of which work somewhat differently.
  • Playing with Fire: Tsukaimon's Down-B is Friendly Fire, breathing a volley of fire forward.
  • Poisonous Person: Tsukaimon's neutral-B is Purple Haze, which blows a poisonous smog that deals Damage Over Time.
  • Super Mode: The CMC+ Patamon can accumulate Digivolution meter to achieve its Warp Evolution: Holy Angemon. Down-B can be input to accumulate meter, while Down-B on full meter activates the Warp Evolution.
  • Your Size May Vary: The default CMC+ variant is smaller than the Crusade "alt" variant.

    V-mon
Character Mod Creator: CloudStrifeHero

A draconic Digimon who has the ability to Armor Evolve with the Digimentals.

His variants include his default which lets him Armor Evolve into Magnamon, Magnamon by its lonesome, and a Battle Spirit variant which lacks his Armor Evolution mechanic.

  • Bare-Fisted Monk: By itself, V-mon fights purely with body attacks.
  • Limit Break: By inputting Down A+B, V-mon can swap between Digimentals. His non-default ones instead have him do a singular Final Smash-like attack as either Flamedramon or Raidramon.
  • The Paralyzer: His Down-B, V-mon Punch, has him throw a punch that stuns the opponent and leaves them open for follow-ups.
  • Rapid-Fire Fisticuffs: His Buzzing Punch neutral-B manages this by having him swing his arms around in circles.
  • Super Mode: By default, its A+B move has it Armor Evolve into Magnamon on full meter.
  • Use Your Head: Uses V-mon Head for his Side-B, rushing forward headfirst. His Up-B is an upwards variant for recovery.

    Terriermon and Lopmon
Character Mod Creator: CloudStrifeHero

Twin Beast Digimon with the ability to attack with their ears.

Terriermon is the default, while Lopmon can be selected as an alternate mode and the former's Matrix Evolution Rapidmon can also be played by its lonesome,

  • Breath Weapon: Terriermon can breathe Blazing Fire and Lopmon Blazing Ice for their respective neutral-Bs.
  • Dishing Out Dirt: Lopmon using Grand Rock for its Side-B, slinging forward several rocks.
  • Super Mode: Terriermon alone can Matrix Evolve into Rapidmon with A+B if its Digivolution meter is full.
  • Tornado Move: Both can do Petit Twister: spinning their ears around to generate a tornado. Terriermon has two variants, one which sends the tornado out and one which doesn't; Lopmon only has the latter variant.
  • Unusual Ears: They act as extra arms for the two, using them to attack.

    Kumamon (Chackmon)
Character Mod Creator: CloudStrifeHero

A polar bear Hybrid Digimon styling itself as a soldier.

  • Breath Weapon: Its side-B, Frozen Clinking, has it breathe out frozen air.
  • Brutish Character, Brutish Weapon: The primal, polar Korikakumon wields two axes, one in each hand.
  • An Ice Person: It has power over ice and can fire it out of its gun Romeo or cast it wih its hands.
  • Stance System: Kumamon's Slide Evolution works this way, enabling it to evolve to the stronger, slower Korikakumon (Blizzarmon) and back at will.

    Lunamon
A long-eared Mammal Digimon with power over water and darkness.
  • Casting a Shadow: Imbues its claws with darkness for its Luna Claw (one use of which is his Side-B). Its Down-B and Down Smash also have it create arrows of darkness.
  • Making a Splash: Shoots an orb of water from its antenna for its neutral-B, Tear Shot.
  • Poisoned Weapons: Throws its Pico Dart for its F-Smash. If it lands, it poisons the opponent.
  • Spin Attack: Uses Lop-ear Ripple for its Up-B, twirling upwards surrounded in water.

    Gammamon
Character Mod Creator: CloudStrifeHero

A white Ceratopsian Digimon with sharp claws and horns.

  • Horn Attack: Can attack with its horn. Its Up-B recovery is a leaping variant of its Horn Attack.
  • Limit Break: Its own evolution mechanic works similarly to Cloud's limit mechanic in the official Smash games. If its evolution meter is full (which can be filled with attacks or Down-B), its Neutral-B and Side-B transform it into BetelGammamon, its Up-B into KausGammamon, and Down-B into WezenGammamon.
  • Man Bites Man: Its jab finisher is a bite.
  • Natural Weapon: Its claws and horn.

    Guilmon and BlackGuilmon

Guilmon and BlackGuilmon

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/blackguilmon.png
BlackGuilmon
Crusade Mod Creator: CloudStrifeHero

The Dragon-like Digimon who's an Expy of Agumon (doubling as an In-Universe example in one instance). BlackGuilmon, meanwhile, is an Evil Twin counterpart who spawned from the essence of Megidramon.

  • Breath Weapon: Both attack with their own fireball projectile for the neutral special, those being Guilmon's Pyro Sphere and BlackGuilmon's Pyro Grenade respectively.
  • Dash Attack: The Rock 'n' Roll Breaker, which is Guilmon's side special and BlackGuilmon's normal dash attack.
  • Playing with Fire: In addition to their fire breath, several of their attacks have their claws engulfed in flames. BlackGuilmon's variants of the moves have the flames recolored to appear purple.
  • Practical Taunt: For their taunt, Guilmon/BlackGuilmon pulls out a snack to down in one gulp, healing 1-2% damage. On rare occasions, they'll swallow a bomb instead, resulting in a stronger version of their Breath Weapon neutral special immediately after.
  • Limit Break: For the Final Smash, after the startup attack, Guilmon and BlackGuilmon Digivolve into a stronger form to attack the caught foe. They both have three variants of their Final Smash, depending on when it's activated:
    • Activating by default, they transform into Growlmon.
    • Activating with Matrix Evolution available, they transform into Megidramon.
    • Activating as Gallantmon/ChaosGallantmon transforms them further into their Crimson/Chaos Mode formnote .
  • Super Mode: As time passes, they build up a meter, which can be sped up with attacks or by using down special. Using down special again when it's full allows them to to transform into Gallantmon/ChaosGallantmon, who has a different, more powerful moveset and Super Armor that only last for as long as the meter depletes.
  • Tail Slap: Utilizes their tail as a makeshift whip for the down tilt and back air.

Exclusive to BlackGuilmon:

Exclusive to Gallantmon/ChaosGallantmon:note

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/gallantmon.png
Not pictured: ChaosGallantmon.
  • Casting a Shadow: ChaosGallantmon's equivalent to Gallantmon's light-based attacks are, like with BlackGuilmon flames, recolored to appear darkness-based.
  • Light 'em Up: As Gallantmon, they cast Final Elysion — firing a powerful light beam from their shield via neutral special.
  • Palette Swap: ChaosGallantmon's Super Mode form is BlackGuilmon's equivalent to Gallantmon Crimson Form.
  • Player-Exclusive Mechanic: Inverted. For the player, they're strictly a Super Mode that is only available to play as for a limited amount of time because of Guilmon's gimmick, same for the AI if they play as Guilmon. But for specific scenarios in Challenge Mode, Gallantmon is playable for the AI, no Matrix Digivolution gimmick required.
  • Shield Bash: Making use of their shield, Gallantmon/ChaosGallantmon swings their shield back and forth for the down smash and charges forward with the down special, Duke Charge.
  • Tornado Move: For Gallantmon's/ChaosGallantmon's up special, they use Screw Savior/Spiral Wailer, spawning a tornado to propel themselves upward.

    Renamon

Renamon

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/renamon.png

The fox-like Beast Man Digimon.

  • Counter-Attack: Their down special; getting hit with the move active results in Renamon and the attacking fighter trading places via Smoke Out, while also granting Renamon super armor.
  • Elemental Punch: Envelops their hand/paw in a blue flame to punch forward for the forward smash and side special.
  • Green Thumb: Their neutral special, Diamond Storm, has Renamon conjure sharpened leaves to barrage foes.
  • Secret Character: Complete Classic mode as Guilmon.
  • Smoke Out: The results of a successful Counter-Attack, with Renamon vanishing in a cloud of smoke to trade places with the opponent.

    Impmon

Impmon

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/impmon_7.png
Crusade Mod Creator: CloudStrifeHero

Befitting their title as the Small Devil Digimon, they are a prankster who loves to embarrass its enemies through its antics.

  • Action Bomb: Inflates himself to burst into an explosion for the up smash, with the attack being a Non Fatal Explosion to Impmon himself.
  • An Ice Person: Though, its only two attacks here; a ball of ice that freezes foes on contact for the up tilt, and forward throw being piercing icicle thrown at the opponent.
  • Attack Reflector: Creates a shield for their up special, with it reflecting projectiles that come in contact.
  • Non Fatal Explosion: His Action Bomb up smash has two outcomes after the explosion: a successful attack result in Impmon emerging from the blast with a helmet, with no other adverse effects; an unsuccessful attack results in Impmon covered head-to-toe in soot, which he quickly shakes off. Either way, no actual damage taken, with Impmon surviving just fine.
  • Playing with Fire: A large variety of Impmon's attacks are Fireballs of varying execution, typically of the explosive variety.
  • Secret Character: Play a versus match that has both Guilmon and Renamon in it, two of the main Digimon that Impmon opposes in Digimon Tamers.

    Pegasusmon

Pegasusmon

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/pegasusmon_7.png
Crusade Mod Creator: CloudStrifeHero

The Armor-level evolution of Patamon and the Digimenta of Hope.

  • Battle Intro: Starts as Patamon before digivolving into Pegasusmon for the match.
  • Death of a Thousand Cuts: The down special Needle Rain, firing multiple small spikes in quick succession for as long as Pegasusmon is grounded with the special button held down.
  • Double Jump: To compensate for their up special being strictly for offense, Pegasusmon has a total of four jumps in addition to their ability to hover.
  • Ground Punch: Slams their hooves into the ground to create a small shockwave for the down smash. Side special, Rodeo Gallop, similarly ends on this if the attack hits the ground instead of a foe.
  • Practical Taunt: With a press of the taunt button, Pegasusmon shakes their front hooves to deal minor multi-hit damage on contact.
  • Rolling Attack: Curls up into a ball for several attacks, side special being a leaping aerial variant of this.
  • Star Power: Fittingly for an attack called Shooting Star, they fire a large volley of stars downward for their up special.
  • Secret Character: In V7, pick up a Digi-Egg item in a match, in reference to the Digi-Egg depicted being the source of Patamon evolving into Pegasusmon.

    Numemon

Numemon

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/numemon_19.png
Crusade Mod Creator: CloudStrifeHero

The result of Digimon raising going extremely poor.

  • Dung Fu: Its fighting style, flinging pink poo for a majority of their attacks. Their Final Smash even consists of sending barrages of pink dung of increasing sizes at any foe caught.
  • Joke Character: The walking and running speed of Incineroar in Ultimate, the aerial prowess of canon Little Mac combined with the falling speed of an anchor sinking in the water, a hard time landing kills... Dan Hibiki ain't looking so bad now, does he?
  • Secret Character: In V7, don't continue when you get a Game Over in Arcade and Classic mode.
  • Small Name, Big Ego: Going by their dialogue in their Arcade Mode route, they seem to view themselves as a powerful entity, and while their boasting might be warranted by winning fights against various tough opponents Particularly..., the difficulty of the route thanks to Numemon's status renders it all blatantly moot.
  • Weaponized Stench: A few of its attack employ this, poisoning the opponent with Damage Over Time.

    Marsmon
Character Mod Creator: CloudStrifeHero

A Digimon god of war who helps rule an alternate Digital World.

  • Dash Attack: Its Side-B, Corona Sanctions, has it dash forward surrounded by fire, leaving a trail of explosions behind it.
  • Elemental Punch: It surrounds its fists in flames for several of its moves. Its Neutral-B becomes a powered-up Flame Punch when charged.
  • Ground Punch: Does this for its down-tilt, down-Smash, and down-B, the lattermost of which is Endless Surge which summons several pillars of fire.
  • Immune to Flinching: At lower percents it has "Tough Guy" armor to compensate for its large size and slow movement.
  • Mighty Glacier: It's painfully slow, to the point that its run is barely faster than its walk and uses the same animation, but it has powerful, wide-reaching attacks and "Tough Guy" armor to compensate.
  • Playing with Fire: It appears constantly Wreathed in Flames, and it powers up its melee attacks this way.
  • Shoryuken: Uses a flaming dragon punch for its Up-B, though if the move is landed, it ends in a Grapple Move that sends the opponent sideways.
  • Wrestler in All of Us: Uses stock wrestling moves like a suplex, backbreaker, and piledriver for its throws.

    MetalSeadramon
Character Mod Creator: CloudStrifeHero

The ultimate form of the Seadramon species, considered the fastest and among the most powerful of aquatic Digimon.

  • Making a Splash: It's an aquatic Digimon that can summon massive waves and torrents of water. Its Up-B in particular, Poseidon Divide, has it ride a wave of water upwards much like Squirtle's Waterfall in the official Smash games.
  • Man Bites Man: Its jab is a single bite at the opponent.
  • Nasal Weapon: It has a laser cannon on its snout which it uses in its Neutral-B, Ultimate Storm, as a sweeping beam, and Side-B, Ultimate Stream, as a single Energy Ball.
  • Playing with Fire: Breathes fire for its forward-Smash.
  • Prehensile Tail: Uses Hell Squeeze for its grab, wrapping its tail around the opponent.
  • Static Stun Gun: Its Down-B, Capture Beam, fires a bolt of electricity that has high hitstun, making it a good set up for deadlier moves.

    ShadowSeraphimon

ShadowSeraphimon

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/sseraphimon.png
Crusade Mod Creator: CloudStrifeHero

The highest ranking Angel Digimon engulfed in darkness from its own resentment.

  • Casting a Shadow: With a name like "ShadowSeraphimon", of course they'd use darkness-based Elemental Power. Not only does it casts Energy Balls of darkness, its electric attacks being a faded purple.
  • Cast from Hit Points: Upon using their Final Smash "Testament", they take 100% damage upon the attack concluding.
  • Energy Ball:
    • Most of its darkness-based attacks take the form of orbs of pure darkness. Particularly their "Seven Hells" move, firing seven orbs of darkness, each as individual projectiles.
    • Up special has them cast a ball of electricity
  • Grapple Move: Side special; ShadowSeraphimon dashes forward to grab a foe to electrocute them within their grasp.
  • Secret Character: Complete Pegasusmon's Arcade mode.

    Lucemon

Lucemon

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/lucemon_5.png
Crusade Mod Creator: CloudStrifeHero

The Angel Digimon who was once a savior of the Digital World, now a monster that brought ruin to ancient era.

  • Badass Armfold: While crouching — or rather standing, given how he perpetually floats off the ground in most of his "grounded" animations — he crosses his arms while keeping a smug look. This might be warranted, given how he's generally pretty strong for a Rookie-class Digimon.
  • Cross Attack: Their neutral special Grand Cross, an Improvised Cross projectile made of the planets of the solar system, which explodes on contact.
  • Light 'em Up: Light bursts, light blades, balls of light, beams of light... it's safe to say the Angel Digimon fights via the light element.
  • Light Is Not Good: He may be a Digimon that looks like a human angel, with light-based elemental attacks to complement the appearance. While Lucemon may have been initally good, nowadays they're a conceited being that wishes to shape the world to their image.
  • Secret Character: Complete any one of the platformer-based Touhou Project or Mega Man challenges as a Digimon character.

    Yggdrasil

Yggdrasil

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/7d6.png
Crusade Mod Creator: CloudStrifeHero

The god of the Digimon World.

  • Gemstone Assault: Predominantly conjures various forms of crystals for their attacks.
  • Mechanically Unusual Fighter: Whenever Yggdrasil "crouches", they stick a vine into the ground for the animation, with this "crouch" increasing their weight and giving them armor for as long as they stay in this state.
  • Overly Long Fighting Animation: Because of the Final Smash featuring all of the Royal Knights Digimon — who take turns attacking the caught foe in sets of two or three — the entire attack takes roughly thirty seconds, more than three times longer than the average Final Smash.
  • Secret Character: Complete Classic mode as Numemon on Very Hard. The one mercy you're getting here is that continues are allowed.
  • Vine Tentacles: From their "arms" they sprout barbed vines to act as whips for the side tilt and neutral air. They're also capable of spawning the same vine from below them, wildly whipping in a circular formation as a down air, or jabbing it into the ground to serve as an anchor.

Tales Series

    Lloyd Irving

Lloyd Irving

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/lloyd_cogu.png
Debut: Tales of Symphonia (2003)
Crusade Mod Creator: Manndarin

The protagonist of Tales of Symponia.

  • Blade Spam: Courtesy of his down smash, rapidly stabbing forward with Flameburg.
  • Deflector Shield: Lloyd can cast energy shields that protect him, though they ironically don't function as a typical deflector shield. They come in two forms:
    • Down special has him create a green energy shield that, while not able to stop the attacks from damaging him, can give him Super Armor, preventing him from getting launched or flinching.
    • Their Final Smash has them conjure a solid blue shield that, while not necessarily stopping the attacks, makes him invulnerable to all damage for its duration.
  • Dual Wielding: Wields both Elemental Weapons passed down from both his paternal and adoptive fathers: the Flameburg and the Vorpal Sword.
  • Elemental Weapon: Two of them at that: the fiery Flameburg in one hand, and the icy Vorpal sword.

    Stahn Aileron
Character Mod Creator: LewisAlter

Once a glory-seeking village boy, Stahn came into possession of the Swordian Dymlos, setting him on a quest to save the world.

  • Animal Battle Aura: Uses Beast for his forward Smash, delivering an enhanced punch emitting a blue aura of a roaring lion.
  • Fireballs: Casts Fireball for his neutral-B, slowly preparing to cast, then sending three fireballs which follow an opponent.
  • Flaming Sword: The Swordian Dymlos, a sword imbued with the soul of a flame-wielding hero of the same name.
  • Hurricane Kick: Delivers a two-legged version for Swallow Dance, his Side-B.
  • Magma Man: Uses Eruption for his Down-B, setting a non-damaging pool of lava on the ground which can be activated on another imput for a lava explosion.
  • Meteor Move: Uses Tiger Blade for his Up-Smash, setting up with a rising sword uppercut and following with a downward slash that sends the opponent downwards.
  • Rolling Attack: Uses Tempest Strike for his Dash Attack, leaping then somersaulting with Dymlos outstretched.
  • Throwing Your Sword Always Works: Uses Hell Pyre to recover for his Up-B, setting up with an upwards slash then throwing Dymlos downward.

Others

    KOS-MOS

KOS-MOS

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/kosmos_9.png
Home Series: Xenosaga
Debut: Xenosaga Episode I (2002)
Crusade Mod Creator: Mp3 Toaster
Character Mod Origin: Card Saga Wars

The battle android created to destroy the Gnosis threat, built by Shion and Kevin Winicott.

  • Arm Cannon: Conjures her R-Cannon to fire a blast at an upward angle for the up tilt.
  • Gatling Good: An iconic weapon of their kit, KOS-MOS fires a gatling gun or two for her side and down smashes.
  • Grapple Move: Down air, oddly enough, acts as an unconventional Command Grab. If a foe that gets hit by KOS-MOS's outstretched foot, they'll be trapped into a spinning kick, drilling into them to deal damage.
  • Kick Chick: For attacks that don't involve her general arsenal, KOS-MOS's go-to melee option is her Combat Stilettos, including a Roundhouse Kick dash attack and a backflip kick.
  • Magic Missile Storm: Her neutral special, spawning copious amounts of missles that'll fly forward to home in onto targets.
