    First-Party Character Guesses
Before we begin, let's take it that any Warner Bros. Discovery-owned character could potentially be added to the game. Here are the ones that fans are speculating about.

    Third-Party Character Guesses
The devs have confirmed that non-WB characters are on the table, so let's figure out who's likely to make the cut!

Just to clarify, "Third-Party Characters" here means characters and franchises with no direct connection to WB. Any characters whose media are produced by Warner but may not be outright owned by them go in the "First-Party Characters" folder. For instance, while Warner does not own A Song of Ice and Fire, they do own Game of Thrones, so it goes under first-party.

    Story Guesses

The reason of why Shaggy become Ultra Instinct Shaggy.
During a particularly long break for the Scooby-Gang, Scooby & Shaggy decided to go traveling the world for... absolutely no purpose. And, through unknown circumstances, after weeks and weeks, they ended up in Vanishing Point, which made them aware of the existence of the Multiverse. Using its connexion to the greater Toonami verse, the duo ended up on the Dragon Ball universe. And because, at this time, Shaggy wished to stop being only considered as the cowardly one, he decided to train himself. It worked pretty well, if we see the end results.
  • Jossed. The official website states Shaggy gained his incredible powers after accidentally consuming a power crystal, mistaking it for rock candy.

In-Universe, the game is a big contest hosted by Brainiac.
What incarnation of him is up for debate, but basically, while observing the DC Multiverse (or, alternatively, by using the Pibby WMG saying that the short and this game are connected, while trying to discover the origins of the Darkness), Brainiac ended up discovering the greater Warner Bros multiverse. Curious about all these new universes, he decided to observe them and, after a while and having enough knowledge of it, he decided to pick the fighters who, he thought, were the most "interesting" to him. He may or may not have a goal, YMMV on this one.
  • Jossed. Character descriptions make reference to the Nothing consuming the WB multiverse.

The final match of the story mode will be against Xayide and Gmork.
The Nothing can't be fought directly. It's the forgotten hopes and dreams of mankind and representation of the damage of apathy and negation of dreams on the human psyche, and it doesn't have any kind of form or presence, since it's literally nothingness. However, its powers/influence can be tied to the sorceress Xayide, who is the personification of emptiness itself, and the beast Gmork, who aids The Nothing and desires existence to vanish so others can feel the pain he does, and the final match could be against the two of them with their defeat weakening The Nothing and driving it back to where it came from.

The Nothing is working for a Man Behind the Man, guesses on who it could go here, along with anything else related to that guess.

The Nothing won't just go away after completing any story available at launch.
If this game takes off enough and the story is well received, then I think a continuation of some kind will happen, and to keep with the current arc of The Nothing destroying The WB Universe, maybe you fight Gmork and Xayide like an above WMG suggests but it just weakens The Nothing. Perhaps post-launch story will be about a new villain trying to manipulate it, like one of the Man Behind the Man guesses above perhaps.

Reindog's home world will be revealed to be from a fictional work of fiction - one that nobody cares about or even remembers, and of which little evidence remains.
With the villain being the story-consuming Nothing from The Never Ending Story, and with Reindog's world having been destroyed by it, things could very well get meta in such a way.

The Lich from Adventure Time could have a role in the story, perhaps as a major enemy, or a boss if the game goes for it.
With the main villain being a force of destruction, who better to ally with it than the embodiment of destruction itself.

The Childlike Empress will be the Big Good.
Since the Nothing will be the main threat, it stands to reason its opposite, the Anthropomorphic Personification of imagination, will be an equally major player. Of course, the Empress works on Blue-and-Orange Morality and is Above Good and Evil; it doesn't matter if a creature is good or evil, if they forge stories, she values them. Alternatively, Dream of the Endless could fill her role.

The Change caused the Black Lanterns forms of Superman and Wonder Woman to escape into the Multiverse.
While the Black Lanterns in the main DC universe were defeated, there's a What If? storyline in Tales from the Dark Multiverse where they weren't defeated and killed everything in their universe. Perhaps the event that took our characters out of their universes also released two Black Lanterns from that one.
  • Could also be a case of them being plucked from the timelines before their defeat, like Stripe was.

    Event Guesses
When and if Green Lantern comes to the game, there will be an event where some of the fighters will get different Lantern Corps rings.
  • We'll most likely be getting Red Lantern Stripe, Orange Lantern Taz, Sinestro Corps Velma, Green Lantern Arya, Blue Lantern Iron Giant, Indigo Tribe Tom and Jerry, Star Sapphire Garnet, and White Lantern Morty.

    Other Guesses

If MultiVersus becomes successful enough, Disney will make their own Platform Fighter to compete with it.
And it will likely feature characters from the Disney Animated Canon, Pixar, Marvel Comics, Star Wars, and Fox. Possibly even their live-action productions and the Disney Theme Parks.

The game will have boss battles.
Considering some of the story snippets in the character bios, MultiVersus seems to be more story-focused than the other non-Nintendo platform fighters, and would probably feature some WB-owned villains such as The Nothing, Gmork, Sauron, Darkseid, Shao Kahn, Invictus etc. as boss battles similar to SSBU's World of Light.

Reindog will be given a spin-off if he is received well at launch.
To flesh out his universe in more detail perhaps, could be a good way to have another big HBO Max original.

This page will guess every roster addition correctly.
With how wide a net that's being cast, I don't think anyone is going to escape its sights.

Reindog is from an upcoming series.
His appearance in MultiVersus is an Early-Bird Cameo meant to build excitement for it. Maybe the story mode will end with Reindog's world being restored, with the implication that this is what allowed the series to exist?

Each member of the game's roster is meant to be a Mirror Character of another member.
Wonder Woman and Arya: Warrior princesses from fictional lands.
Batman and Rick: Sarcastic loners with dim views on reality who are also the smartest persons in the room.
Steven and Morty: Goofy kid sidekicks who have to deal with insane adventures in their everyday lives.
Bugs and Jake: Smart alec talking animals who change themselves to fit the situation.
Shaggy and Taz: Big eaters who are zany but powerful forces of nature.
Garnet and Tom and Jerry: Two beings who act as one.
Superman and Iron Giant: Gentle giants from another world.
Justin Roiland was too busy to reprise Rick and Morty before their releases, and the voice recordings are a placeholder.
Seeing as Justin is busy doing double-duty for his roles as Rick and Morty's title characters and his development of High on Life, it's likely that Player First Games was unable to get a hold of him for Rick and Morty's voicelines, so the recordings from the show may be a placeholder until he's available for recordings exclusive to the game.

The promo art with Rick and Garnet is a hint for an upcoming map.
On October 3, 2022, the various Multiversus accounts posted a new piece of art depicting Rick and Garnet in what seems to be Pink Diamond's garden, a location that currently isn't in the game. It might be foreshadowing for it to show up as a map in a future season, so who knows?

Batman's voicelines in the future will be recycled from previous works.
Seeing as how Kevin Conroy has unfortunately passed away, yet his voice has already been used for the project, which may make it awkward to recast Batman.
