  • Acting for Two:
    • Daniel Ross does the voices for Uncle Shagworthy, Gizmo and Stripe.
    • Just like in Adventure Time proper, Niki Yang voices both Lady Rainicorn and BMO (via an announcer pack, and Finn's BMO Chop down special and a corresponding announcer pack, respectively).
    • Eric Bauza performs for Bugs Bunny and Marvin the Martian as expected, and also gives Jerry a couple of pitched-up screams.
  • Actor Existence Limbo: While Andrew Frankel was chosen as Reindog's voice actor, Reindog remained mute since the closed alpha, an issue carried over all the way to the open beta. Some fans were convinced that the voice files were cut from the game, until a TikTok post on August 4, 2022, confirmed that they would eventually be implemented.
  • All-Star Cast: One of the reveal trailer's selling points was the inclusion of voice acting, featuring role reprises of notable Warner Bros. characters. Tara Strong, Kevin Conroy, Matthew Lillard, Maisie Williams, and Estelle are among the notable examples.
  • Approval of God:
  • Author's Saving Throw:
    • After the pre-season and Season 1 battle passes had certain tiers that didn't have rewards in them, Season 2's battle pass has been tailored so that every tier would have a reward, on both the free and premium paths.
    • Collecting Candy Corn for unlocking special items during the Monster Mash event was a daunting task, as getting its exclusive Halloween variants required several thousands even by using other variants to obtain more Candy Corn. To rectify this, Festiversus established a new system: Holiday Cookies function like Candy Corn, but it's easier to obtain many thanks to holiday-themed match objectives and login bonuses, as well as playing with Christmas variants. What's more, only one of the variants (Ugly Sweater Superman) used the standard method, as the Holiday Reindog variant simply needed players to log in 18 days throughout the event.
    • A criticism of the Battle Pass was the inability to gain any of the game's premium currency, Gleamium, through any other way except to pay with real money. The game's FAQ was updated following the announcement of the game's full release in March 2024 to mention that Gleamium would now be able to be earned in-game without spending real money.
  • Content Leak:
    • The game was leaked a month before its official reveal in November 2021, and mentioned several additional characters as part of the roster, including Rick, who was yet to be revealed during the initial announcement.
    • Velma was leaked in the code, along with many other characters, well before her actual reveal. The reveal was, in fact, hastened when a video showcasing gameplay of her from the beta was posted to Reddit.
    • The day before the release of Season 1, an update to the game on the PlayStation Store was released earlier than it should have, leaking the addition of Black Adam and Stripe. Both characters had references within the game's code prior to this reveal, which was also leaked prior to their formal reveal.
    • The Iron Giant, the Tasmanian Devil, LeBron James, Morty, and Gizmo were also leaked in the code prior to the trailers confirming their appearances. Marvin was likewise leaked in the code prior to the game, and then a Gamespot article jumped the gun by announcing Marvin's addition before PFG themselves were able to.
    • Assets for the Batman Day event (as well as its corresponding exclusive Batman icon awarded to those who play three matches as him) were leaked in the code, a few days before it was properly unveiled.
  • Died During Production: With Kevin Conroy’s passing on November 11, 2022, it is unknown if Batman will ever get new lines in case a new character is added.
  • Distanced from Current Events: Due to the police being a very controversial and polarizing subject at the time of the game's release, at least in the U.S., the country where the game was developed, Velma's attack where she calls in a police car to arrest opponents after gathering enough evidence was changed to her calling in the Mystery Machine instead. While the developers didn't say one way or another if it had anything to do with it, the change was likely hastened by players repeatedly posting memes and gameplay videos showing Velma using said attack on LeBron James for shock value shortly after he was added to the game.
  • Doing It for the Art: Tony Huynh, the game's director, stated in this Game Informer interview that he wants players to enjoy experiencing the game and everything it has to offer, which is why it has a free-to-play model that easily allows newcomers to try it out. The cosmetics (the only elements in the game that mostly are exclusively acquirable with Gleamium) are there to buy simply because the staff is proud of how awesome they are, and seem like something that could be worth spending on.
  • Dueling Works: This game's official reveal came out only a month after the highly anticipated release of Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl. Both games being cartoony crossover platform fighters, between two rival entertainment companies, who both try to appeal to serious competitive players despite featuring characters from kid-friendly cartoons (although MultiVersus also features characters from teen and adult-oriented franchises), were naturally going to fuel some competition between each other. This game's announcement trailer even makes a point about mentioning that its characters are fully voiced, most by their actual voice actors, which is easy to interpret as a jab to All-Star Brawl's lesser production values and lack of voice acting at launch, at least until a later patch finally added it.
  • Fake Shemp: Unlike the other characters, both Rick and Morty's voicelines are not original recordings from Justin Roiland, but recycled clips taken from the show.
  • He Also Did: Art Director Jon Diesta was also the Lead Character Designer for Disney Infinity, another cartoony crossover game splicing several of a single company's properties (in this case, Disney and its subsidiaries Marvel and Star Wars).
  • Kids' Meal Toy: A Europe-exclusive tie-in with McDonald's in January 2024 (curiously while the game was still on its hiatus between the ending of the Open Beta and its relaunch) featured trading cards that came in collectable tins bearing the characters' faces. Notably, the tins featured new high-quality renders of the game's cast. The promotion would eventually reach North America in March 2024, this time more explicitly coinciding with new information about the game.
  • Meaningful Release Date: While this was unintentional, both Black Adam and Arcade Mode were released on October 31st, 2022, just in time for Halloween.
  • Milestone Celebration: In light of Tweety Bird's 80th anniversary year in 2022, a code for a special birthday-themed ringout animation featuring him was posted on the game's social media websites during November 21st.
  • No Export for You: The game is not available outside North America, the UK, Europe (France, Germany, Italy, Spain and Poland), Latin America, Brazil, and Australia/New Zealand.
  • The Original Darrin:
  • The Other Darrin:
    • English:
      • Steven Universe is voiced by Daniel DiVenere instead of Zach Callison.
      • While some of Tom and Jerry's vocal effects that were originally provided by William Hanna (such as Tom's iconic scream) can still be heard in the game, the two also have additional vocal effects provided by Eric Bauza instead of Frank Welker, who typically provides new vocal effects for the duo in newer works.
      • In contrast to the DC Animated Universe role reprises of Superman (George Newbern) and Batman (Kevin Conroy), Wonder Woman is voiced by Abby Trott, rather than Susan Eisenberg.
      • The Iron Giant is voiced by Jon Lipow rather than his original actor, Vin Diesel.
      • If one considers him to be the character as depicted in Space Jam: A New Legacy, then LeBron James goes from being played by himself to being voiced by John Eric Bentley.
      • Rather than the late Casey Kasem, Shaggy's uncle Shagworthy is now voiced by Daniel Ross.
      • Similarly to Uncle Shagworthy, Daniel Ross voices Gizmo instead of his original voice actor, Howie Mandel.
      • Daniel Ross is also the voice actor for Stripe, as opposed to his original voice actor, Frank Welker.
      • At least concerning video game appearances, Bob Carter replaces Joey Naber as the role of Black Adam.
      • On another Black Adam note, Imari Williams subs in for Dwayne Johnson as the Man in Black.
    • Latin American Spanish:
      • Steven Universe is voiced by Emilio Treviño, rather than Leisha Medina (who quit voicing him after fan harassment), or Jorge Bringas (who replaced Leisha in the dubs for the movie and Future), because the series was dubbed in Venezuela.
      • Jake the Dog went from Jose Arenas to Tommy Rojas.
      • Bugs Bunny is voiced by Luis Leonardo Suarez, rather than his new official voice actor starting with Looney Tunes Cartoons, Miguel de Leon.
      • Taz is voiced by Arturo Mercado Jr. rather than his usual voice actor César Soto, even if the latter still reprises his role as the Iron Giant.
      • Juan Guzmán (Rick), Eder La Barrera (Morty) and Ángel Lugo (Meeseks) do not return to reprise their characters because the series was dubbed in Venezuela. Rick Sánchez and Mr. Meeseeks both voiced by Mauricio Pérez while Morty Smith voiced by Bruno Coronel instead.
      • Funnily enough, Mauricio Pérez previously voiced Rick in Space Jam: A New Legacy and Bruno Coronel previously voiced Morty in The Simpsons Crossover Couch Gag.
    • French:
      • Taz is voiced by Bruno Méyère instead of Emmanuel Garijo (his official voice actor since 2011).
      • In the French dub of The Iron Giant, the titular robot was voiced by Bruno Devoldère, who passed away in 2008. Here, the Giant is instead voiced by Mario Bastelica.
    • Italian:
      • The cinematic trailer had Martina Tamburello voicing Arya Stark instead of her original voice actor, Sara Labidi. Oddly, this was exclusive to the trailer, as Sara reprises the role in the game proper.
      • The Iron Giant is voiced by Marco Balbi instead of Massimo Corvo.
      • Velma is not voiced by Rachele Paolelli (her official voice actress since 2001), but by Jenny De Cesarei, who also voiced her in LEGO Dimensions.
      • LeBron James is voiced by Marcello Moronesi, replacing his voice actor from Space Jam: A New Legacy, Gabriele Sabatini.
      • Rick is voiced by Oliviero Corbetta, instead of his regular voice actor Christian Iansante.
  • Promoted Fanboy: CtrlZeeArt, known in the community for making detailed fan renders on point with the game's style, was hired by PlayerFirstGames in 2023.
  • Role Reprise:
    • Most of the roster reprises their original voice actors (including Maisie Williams as Arya Stark) or an actor who voiced them previously (such as Eric Bauza as Bugs Bunny, as per Looney Tunes Cartoons).
    • Most of the voice actors of the Latin American dub reprise their roles from previous works.
    • The Brazilian Portuguese dub brings back the voices of just about everyone, incuding Arya Stark's final dubber — although with a sideways case in Harley Quinn, as the only reprise is from the Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League trailer.
    • The Italian dub also brings back the voices of everyone except Velma, the Iron Giant, LeBron James, and Rick, and Harley's voice actress is also reprised from Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League like in the Brazilian Portuguese dub. As a side note, the DC characters have their voice actors from Justice League rather than the ones from later animated productions, and it's only because if they used the modern voice cast (which was introduced first in Young Justice), then Superman and Jake would be both voiced by Alberto Angrisano.
  • Schedule Slip:
    • Season 1 of the game and Morty were originally intended to release side-by-side on August 9th, 2022, although both were delayed to the 15th and the 23rd respectively. Despite the timing coinciding with several other cancellations due to the WB/Discovery merger, the delay was unrelated.
    • Similarly, the teaser for Gizmo had the character set to release on September 6th, but when his down special was revealed, the release date was changed to September 8th.
    • Much like Gizmo's case, the teaser for Black Adam and Arcade Mode, posted on October 25th, locked in their release window to be for later that week. But the next day, his unlockable taunt was unveiled as the release was moved to later. Both would release on October 31st.
    • The end of season 2 was moved from its planned end date of February 14 (which was used as the start of the ValentiNeon event) all the way to March 31, to give players enough time to earn all the Battle Pass items.
  • What Could Have Been:
    • Some characters had their class changed between the announcement and closed alpha:
      • Batman was originally going to be an Assassin-type character, before being changed to Bruiser.
      • Superman was originally going to be a Bruiser-type character, before being changed to Tank.
      • Marvin was originally going to be a Mage/Range-type character, before being changed to Assassin.
  • Word of God: The reason why MultiVersus has its current name rather than something related to Warner Bros. specifically is because the developers didn't want to be restricted to just Warner properties, which allows not just for characters that are not owned by Warner, but pretty much anything.
    • Tony Huynh noted in this interview with Level 857 that there is no roster number limit, so as long as there is demand for more characters, the staff will continue adding them as much as humanly possible. He also mentioned that all roster suggestions on Discord and Twitter are read by them.
    • In this Twitter post, Tony mentioned that fan demand determines a lot of which characters they pursue.
    • When asked about the possibility of another original character like Reindog being added to the roster, Tony replied that the staff can make one if the community really wants it.
