General
- Tom and Jerry's middle names are listed as Jasper and Jinx on the game's website, their original names from their debut short Puss Gets the Boot.
- The Iron Giant mimics Superman's pose from the Superman Theatrical Cartoons in his official render.
- Shaggy leaping into Batman's arms is actually from the opening of The New Scooby-Doo Movies.
- In the beta, the preseason Rewards Pass granted variants for Finn and Jake at Tier 15, which is the tier of Jake's path to dating that he told Finn to stay away from in "Burning Low".
- The achievement for getting 100 double ring-outs is called "And your little dog, too!", a famous quote from the Wicked Witch of the West.
- Black Adam's bio quote in the announcement tweet is "You see the world as a child does. 'Good' and 'evil' are not constants."
- In the gameplay trailer, Batman is shown with a title card with a background full of the word "Na", basically saying "NaNaNaNaNa".
Moves and Animations
- Arya Stark
- When Arya kills a foe, they leave behind a pie that can heal foes, but slows them down in turn. This is in reference to the finale of Season 6 of Game of Thrones, where Arya, while disguised as a servant woman, serves Walder Frey a meat pie made from his two sons.
- Batman
- Batman's neutral dodge has him recreate the cover of Batman: The Animated Series.
- For a single frame of his forward air attack, Batman becomes silhouetted and does a pose closely resembling the pose he does on the cover of Batman: The Dark Knight Returns.
- For his losing animation, Batman breaks a gun in half, referencing a panel in the same story where he does the same.
- Black Adam
- A majority of Black Adam's attacks are based on moves he does in the movie Superman/Shazam!: The Return of Black Adam.
- For his victory animation, Black Adam sits on his original throne from the comics, striking a pose that his film counterpart does in a couple of posters.
- The Man in Black's victory animation starts similarly except he lands on top of the throne, instantly destroying it under him. This is exactly what Black Adam does to the throne at the end of the movie.
- Bugs Bunny
- Bugs' intro animation, which has him pull himself out of a top hat, is lifted from Case of the Missing Hare.
- When paired with its charging animation, Bugs' grounded up attack closely resembles the kick to the rear he gives Elmer towards the end of his debut short, A Wild Hare.
- Bugs' neutral aerial is based on a move he does (albeit on the ground) in Rabbit Punch.
- Bugs' dancing taunt is based on a dance that appears in multiple shorts, most notably Bugs Bunny Rides Again.
- Bugs' losing animation is based on his tantrum from Rabbit Rampage.
- Finn The Human
- In Finn's grounded down special, Choose Goose and BMO both appear as cameo characters, the former selling the power-ups Finn can buy while the latter allows Finn to use it for a strong, single-use attack.
- Expanding on BMO, the attack he uses is referred to as a "BMO Chop", which refers to a short gag in "Card Wars".
- Finn's taunt has him do his "tough tootin' baby" dance, seen in Season 3's "Memory of a Memory".
- Fern's animation when selected on the character select screen starts with him photosynthesizing like he does at the beginning of "Whispers".
- Garnet
- Garnet's win animation has her grin and use her hands to form a Heart Symbol, taken from a quick gag from Season 2's "When It Rains".
- Garnet's original loss animation has her poof in nearly the same manner as she did when Jasper destabilized her in Season 1's "The Return". Her current loss animation instead has her sit down and meditate as two glowing white butterflies come to rest on her open palms, referencing "Here Comes a Thought" from Season 4's "Mindful Education".
- One of Garnet's taunts has her recreating the dance she made during Ruby and Sapphire's wedding in "Reunited".
- Another one of Garnet's taunts is her driving Tiny Car Amethyst from "Too Many Birthdays".
- Garnet's side attack, "Crystal Combo", is based on what she did in a Pummel Duel against a water clone created by Lapis in "Ocean Gem".
- Garnet's neutral special, "Stronger than You", is named after the same song she sings during "Jailbreak".
- Gizmo
- In both his intro animation and grounded down special, Gizmo hops outside/back inside the box he originally came in.
- For Gizmo's grounded neutral attack, he is able to charge up and fire arrows that he is able to ignite, which is something he wields in Gremlins 2: The New Batch to take down his revived spawn.
- For Gizmo's grounded side special, he summons a remote control car that he is able to drive around in, something he does in the original Gremlins as he bravely charges forward to take down Stripe.
- For one of Gizmo's victory animations, he can be seen watching TV while on a desk, munching pop corn as he does so. Not only is this a reference to a similar scene in Gremlins, notably, a clock by his side is permanently stuck at 11:59, one minute before any food ingested results in him becoming a gremlin.
- Iron Giant
- Quite a few, but the most noticeable one comes when the Giant switches between attack and regular mode: a brief animation plays showing him looking at his hands in confusion and sadness, just like he did in the movie.
- Jake The Dog
- All of Jake's transformations are ones he has used at some point in the series. His horse form is from "Gut Grinder", while the house form appeared in the episode "May I Come In?" from the "Stakes" miniseries. He also sometimes calls out "JAMES BAXTER!" when using his horse form, as a reference to James Baxter the Horse.
- Jake's dancing taunt is his dance from "Power Animal".
- Marvin the Martian
- Marvin's pistol appears to be a combination of all his various weapons he's had over the years. His neutral attack, where he fires a bubble, comes from Looney Tunes: Back in Action, he uses the Time-Space Gun from Mad as a Mars Hare for his side-special, and his disintegration ray comes from Duck Dodgers in the 24½th Century.
- Marvin does a high kick for both his grounded and aerial side attacks. This is the same kick he does to K-9 in his debut short.
- Marvin's flag is used a lot, showing up as a part of his victory animation, one of his taunts, his down special, and even his wall cling animation. This is likely referencing the Running Gag in Marvin's shorts in Looney Tunes Cartoons, where he is constantly trying (and failing) to claim a planet for Mars by planting down his flag.
- The Spaceship that he summons for his up-special is also based on his ship from the show.
- Morty
- Morty's combo attack transforms his arm into Armothy from "Rickmancing the Stone" for two hits before a final strike of swinging around Hammer Morty from "Close Rick-Counters of the Rick Kind".
- His Normal and Up Neutrals have him summoning the snakes from "Rattlestar Ricklactica".
- His Up Air and Side Special make use of Planetina's elemental rings.
- His Down Neutral has him scrub the ground with a Plumbus. The add-on for this move is called "Extra Fleeb Juice".
- His Down Special utilizes the save point backup technology from "The Vat of Acid Episode" His losing animation is him jumping into the Vat of Acid itself.
- His air side special has him move through the portal gates from "Mort Dinner Rick Andre".
- His default taunt and victory animation have him downing a carton of orange juice, calling back to him rehydrating himself after extended use of the sex robot in "Raising Gazorpazorp".
- Rick
- Rick's neutral special has him summon up to two Mr. Meeseeks and give them attack orders. The down input has the Meeseeks pull out a golf club in reference to Jerry's disastrous attempt to use them to improve his golf game.
- When Rick's portals are on cooldown, his side special has him using the Go-Go Sanchez Ski Shoes from "The Ricks Must Be Crazy".
- Rick's neutral aerial is called "Personal Space" after the Unexpectedly Dark Episode "Personal Space Show" from "Interdimensional Cable 2: Tempting Fate".
- Rick's up aerial has him pull out the Mega Seed from the pilot episode, and the name of the move implies that whoever gets hit with the move has the seed shoved up their butthole like he forced Morty to do in the episode. If he hits an ally with the seed, they gain an "Educated" buff like how the seed temporarily increased Morty's brainpower when it dissolved in his rectum.
- Rick's up attack uses the laser whip Morty asks for in "Promortyus" and is later shown using in "Mortyplicity".
- One of his taunts is the "Get Schwifty" dance.
- Stripe
- Stripe's down special has him summon some dynamite and then bite into it, blowing himself up. While this generally references the self-destructive nature of the Gremlins, the way Stripe is blasted into the air brings to mind how the majority of the Gremlins were blown to kingdom come near the end of the original film.
- Stripe wields many of the various weapons he used to try to kill Billy in the movie, including a sawblade, a chainsaw, and most notably, a gun.note
- On the character select screen, Stripe pops out of the cocoon that are made when mogwai turn into Gremlins.
- Superman
- Superman's grounded side special is called "Locomotive Charge", bringing to mind his iconic description from The Adventures of Superman.
- His down special, a low sweeping blast of heat vision he can perform both on the ground and in midair, comes straight from the Injustice games, where it was his most infamous projectile attack.
- Tom and Jerry
- In their losing animation, while Tom is waving around a white flag in defeat, Jerry's depressed sitting pose and expression has a resemblance to the rather infamous ending of Blue Cat Blues.
- Velma
- Velma does her classic run animation for her grounded side special.
- An unlockable taunt for Velma has her do the dance she did with Shaggy in an episode of the orginal series.
- Wonder Woman
- The second hit of Wonder Woman's side attack combo has her perform a leg sweep, similar to the leg sweeps she does in a couple of her appearances in the DCEU.

- Iron Giant
- The Iron Giant's default appearance has him don his Superman-inspired necklace that he wears in a scene in the film.

- First introduced in Season 1, another one of LeBron's alternate costumes has him wear Robin's outfit, which also comes from Space Jam: A New Legacy.
- Marvin the Martian
- Marvin's default design appears to draw inspiration from his design from modern Looney Tunes cartoons, as based on his eyes being extremely close to one another, the off-yellow coloring of his gloves, and the red dots on his shoes.
- Marvin's first variant has him appear as "Martian Commander X-2", the role he dons in Duck Dodgers.
- In the Valentine's Day event, he got two new variants pulling from his referee clothing from the original Space Jam and his own blue jersey from Space Jam: A New Legacy respectively.
- Morty
- One of Morty's Variants turns him into President/Evil Morty.
- Evil Morty's "rogue" design (as seen in his debut episode Close Rick-Counters of the Rick Kind) also makes an appearance as one of Morty's Variants, being introduced alongside the debut of the game's second season.
- Rick
- Rick's Variants are set to be Seal Team Rick, his mecha suit from Promortyus, and, of course, Pickle Rick.

- Velma
- While Shaggy◊ is modeled after his typical appearance, Velma◊ looks more akin to her appearance from SCOOB!, complete with actual eyes under her glasses rather than the Eye Glasses she usually has.
- One of Velma's alternate costumes is her Hula getup from the Scooby-Doo, Where Are You! episode "A Tiki Scare is No Fair".
- Velma's Astronaut variant is based on her space suit from Scooby-Doo! Moon Monster Madness.
