  • Affiliation: NJPW
  • From: Kagoshima Prefecture
  • Birthday: August 16
  • Height: 149 CM
  • BWH: 79/56/80
  • Specialty: Striking moves
  • Finishing Move: Shinkuu Tobi Hizageri (Jumping Knee Butt)

The main character of chapter 1. A diminutive girl inspired to become a wrestler by her idol Bomber Kishima. Trained in muay thai by a former champion who lives in her neighborhood, she passes the NJWP entrance exams and is assigned as an attendant to a veteran wrestler. Following said veteran overseas, she makes her debut in Brazil before returning to Japan and forming a tag team with Kasumi Tsuji.

  • Earthy Barefoot Character: As part of her Jungle Princess gimmick.
  • Extreme Omnivore: As shown during her vacation event, she'll eat anything she can catch and cook. Fish, clams, snakes, it's all delicious to her. Naturally, the President is more than a little reluctant to accept when she offers him some.
  • Get A Hold Of Yourself Man: Variant. Upon her return to Japan from abroad, she found Kasumi completely discouraged after losing her debut fight as a result of a grossly mismatched card. In order to lift her friend's spirits, Saori drags Kasumi out for a practice bout to reignite Kasumi's fire for the sport.
  • Friendly Rivalry: With Kasumi Tsuji, who joined NJWP at the same time Saori herself did.
  • In-Series Nickname: "Sao-Sao", though she herself dislikes it.
  • Lovely Angels: Forms this dynamic with Kasumi at the end of her chapter.
  • The Napoleon: As a child, her dream was to become a big, tough wrestler. However, her height ended up maxing out at a diminutive 149cmnote . Naturally, she's more than a little sensitive about this.
  • Tomboyish Ponytail: A very, very short variant.
  • Tribal Face Paint: As part of her Jungle Princess ring persona.
  • Underwear of Power: While her top is covered by her green-orange gradient dress (save for the visible straps), her bottoms are very clearly visible.
  • The Watson: Plays this role to Hazuki Musumi as her attendant.

    Hazuki Musumi

Hazuki Musumi/Prison Musumi

Bodyguard
  • Affiliation: NJPW, Free
  • From: Ibaraki Prefecture
  • Birthday: April 15
  • Height: 171 CM
  • BWH: 91/65/92
  • Specialty: Submission moves
  • Finishing Move: Musumi-Ryuu Hadakajime (renamed Labyrinth Sleeper in Survivor 2) (Sleeper Hold)

The protagonist of chapter 2 and a former champion amateur wrestler and Olympic hopeful, Musumi fell onto hard times after failing to make the grade and being abandoned by the adults who had previously lavished attention onto her. Despite initial disinterest in pro wrestling, she was dazzled by then-newcomers Panther Risako and Blade Uehara and joined NJWP's ranks in earnest. Following an altercation with another wrestler some time later, Musumi was forced to leave and become a free agent. Learning from her past mistakes, Musumi became renowned as a wrestler who settles interpersonal quarrels between other wrestlers and was eventually invited back by Risako herself in order to help guide NJWP's next generation of stars.

  • Ambidextrous Sprite: Naturally the side her eyepatch is on flips depending on which corner she's in.
  • Corporate Dog: Often mockingly referred to as one by members of organizations she's not working for due to the fact that she always winds up being put into the position of bodyguard/tag partner for girls that the higher ups consider to be up and coming stars without so much as a single complaint.
  • Eyepatch of Power: Worn purely for effect as part of her costume. Both of her eyes function normally.
  • Heel–Face Turn: In a metaphorical sense rather than literal. When she was initially asked to take part in matches, Musumi was fully planning on making a mess of everything and running off with her pay. Only Risako and Blade's shining performance managed to get her to change her mind.
  • Japanese Delinquents: Essentially became an older version after failing to make the Olympics. Being introduced to pro wrestling helped her turn her life around.
  • Mistaken Identity: Is mistakenly thought to be the perpetrator behind several backstage attacks and other acts of bullying against Sophie Sierra. Darkstar Chaos, the one making the mistake in this instance, was going off of extremely limited info (Chaos only knew that the attacker was Asian.) Mutsumi confronts the actual culprit (actually culprits, namely Bridget and Cindy Won) later in the story.

    Sonic Cat

Sonic Cat/Sonic Knight (Real name: Mika Yuuki)

  • Badass Adorable: Her babyface and adorable voice belie the heart of a true heroine.
  • Big Eater: One of her long-term goals in life is to conquer the national eating contest.
  • Bunny-Ears Lawyer: She's a goofball who claims to be a superheroine from the Andromeda Galaxy, seems to think that superheroes really do exist, and that her matches are battles between good and evil for the fate of the universe. She's also really, really talented in the ring, so very few people call her on it.
  • Catchphrase / Verbal Tic: "Kyuu!"
  • Cool Crown: And she wears it everywhere, even when she's training or at the beach!
  • Hero of Another Story: She's the only feature character in Ai to not be the focus of the chapter she's featured in. Instead, the chapter is about how chance encounters with her changed the lives of the POV characters, Yukiko and Riyu.
  • Idiot Hero: In that she's a bit dim and aspires to be a superheroine.
  • One of the Boys: Due to her love of heroes, she spent much of her childhood playing around with the neighborhood boys.
  • Paint It Black: Her alternate palette as "Sonic Knight."
  • Retcon: This game shows that she's the one who inspired Yukiko to challenge Risako for the Asia Heavyweight title, thus kickstarting the plot of 1 and and its remakes.

  • Specialty: Power moves
  • Finishing Move: Garm's Dinner (Shoulder Tackle)
The protagonist of chapter 6. Although scouted for a brand new promotion while working for her family's forestry business, a series of misfortunes ranging from nearly every other candidate dropping out to disagreements with management and her coach to the promotion's owners deciding to run a blatantly rigged match on opening night results in Takanashi feeling frustrated and bitter. However, chance encounters with Dynamite Rin and Ogre Asahina result in her finally getting to put on the kind of matches she wants and due to her newfound popularity, she is able to continue on as a free agent even after her promotion's closure.
  • Big Beautiful Woman: Halfway between this and Amazonian Beauty, as she is the owner of a husky body frame more typical of a professional strong(wo)man.
  • Blood Knight: At the end of the day, her biggest desire is to compete in high intensity matches that she can feel satisfied with.
  • Facial Markings: Wears orange facepaint while in the ring.
  • Fur and Loathing: Her boots, wristbands, and the armholes of her bodysuit appear to be made of a fuzzy, black fur in order to play up her status as a Heel.
  • Heel
  • Mean Character, Nice Actor: To the point where her private events show her carrying a sleeping Kiriko back to the office after nights of drinking, being especially careful not
to wake her up.

    Witch Misa

Witch Misa (Real name: Misa Amagami)

Appears in: Ai, Survivor 2

Voiced by: Yūko Gotō

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/witchmisa.PNG
The One-Woman Witch Trial
  • Affiliation: NJWP
  • From: Aomori Prefecture
  • Birthday: June 14
  • Height: 162 CM
  • BWH: 84/60/86
  • Specialty: Throwing moves
  • Finishing Move: Yomi Otoshi (Capture Suplex)
The protagonist of chapter 7. Scouted by NJWP due to her physical aptitude displayed as a member of her school's track team, Misa had initially declined the offer only to reconsider following the results of her homestyle divination pointed towards good things in her future. She and fellow new recruit Satomi Kojima were chosen to represent the new generation in NJWP's EX Tag League tournament, but Misa's crippling self doubt about being able to match up to her seniors makes her think that she's destined to lose and thus she considers simply dropping out. It takes a combination of being inspired by a rematch between Panther Risako and Blade Uehara, along with hearing out the frustrations of Succubus Manabe (who wanted to participate in the tournament but was passed over in favor of Misa) to inspire the one-woman witch trial that failure isn't written in the stars.

  • Catchphrase: "Misa will deliver judgment upon you!"
  • Cute Witch: Fancies herself one.
  • The Fatalist: She is a heavy believer in fate, which partly fuels her obsession with the occult. Unfortunately it becomes a problem for her in her chapter, as she feels that entering the EX Tag League against her stronger, more experienced seniors is a hopeless prospect. It takes a bit of Character Development for her to realize that things that seem hopeless aren't exactly the same as things that are destined to go badly.
  • Magical Girl: Her ring costume has this as its motif.
  • Mini Dress Of Power: Coupled with kneesocks for Grade-A Zettai Ryouiki.
  • There Are No Coincidences: During her training days, she greatly wished for a bullying senpai and another that she respected to suffer humiliating defeat and capture a title, respectively. After both events wound up happening exactly the way she hoped, she starting thinking that she might have magic powers. When she managed to successfully predict the outcomes of a string of matches afterwards, she refused to believe it to be any kind of coincidence, and thus her staunch belief that she is a witch was born. Her profile makes it very clear that she actually has incredible analytical skill, but is completely ignorant of this fact.
  • Verbal Tic: "-nano desu"
  • Vitriolic Best Buds: Has shades of this dynamic with Succubus Manabe. They get on each other's nerves, but by the time of Survivor 2 have the highest compatability with one another as tag partners.

    Zero Kotobuki

Zero Kotobuki/Arms Zero (Former name: Mio Takemiya)

Appears in: Ai, Survivor 2

Voiced by: Misato Fukuen

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/kotobukizero.PNG
Massacre Ordinance
  • Affiliation: Free
  • From: Kyoto Prefecture
  • Birthday: February 15
  • Height: 173 CM
  • BWH: 85/62/84
  • Specialty: Striking moves
  • Finishing Move: Silent Knuckle (Backfist)
After her parents died in a car crash, young Mio Takemiya was sent to live with her mother's family, the owners of the powerful Kotobuki conglomerate. However, her cousin (now legally her sister due to being adopted) Senka harbored heavy resentment towards Mio due to her own mother also dying in the crash. Emotionally abused by Senka, Mio changed her name to Zero and grew into a tool to be used as Senka saw fit. Years later, Senka suddenly approached Zero with an order to undergo training to become a pro wrestler due to wanting to show up fellow heiress Beauty Ichigaya and deciding to use Zero's natural athletic gifts to this end.
  • Big Sister Worship: A twisted version. Zero thinks she's absolutely nothing without Senka and blindly obeys whatever her sister tells her. This only comes to an end because of Melody Kobato.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: She inflicts savage one-sided beatings onto scores of other wrestlers on Senka's bidding. The tables get turned on her during her bout with Melody Kobato.
  • Death by Origin Story: Her parents died when she was little, causing her to be raised by her mother's family and setting the course for the rest of her life.
  • Defeat Means Friendship: Subverted. She didn't become friends with Kobato as a direct result of being defeated, but rather Kobato dragged her along on her travels to help her escape her abusive relationship with Senka.
  • Master Of One: She has perfectly average stats across the board... except for a top tier offensive score in striking attacks.
  • Meaningful Rename: Renamed Zeronote  by Senka as a permanent reminder of the fact that she'll never amount to anything while Senka herself is beautiful, smart, talented and will one day take over the family business.
  • The Ojou: Subversion. She IS the daughter of a wealthy family, but she doesn't fit any of the usual stereotypes associate with the trope owing largely to her rough childhood.
  • Odd Friendship: First with Ogre Asahina (who helped train her) and later with the cheerful, upbeat Melody Kobato.
  • Stronger Sibling: She's far, FAR stronger than Senka.
  • Successful Sibling Syndrome: Thanks to years of Senka drilling it into her that she's nothing.
  • Sugar-and-Ice Personality: She has a reputation of being an Emotionless Girl due to her calm, unflinching MMA-based fighting style and seemingly cold personality, but she's a gentle person at heart and shows it when interacting with those she likes.
  • Technicolor Eyes: Gold, though not supernatural.
  • Tsurime Eyes
  • When She Smiles: She'll only let a very small smile peek through at very rare times, but it's heartwarming nonetheless.

    Melody Kobato

Melody Kobato (Real name: Kobato Sawashiro)

Vagrant Traveller
  • Affiliation: Free
  • From: Wakayama Prefecture
  • Birthday: January 9
  • Height: 156 CM
  • BWH: 86/55/93
  • Specialty: Acrobatic moves
  • Finishing Move: Melody Stamp (Hip Attack), Moonsault Press
The protagonist of chapter 9 and the daughter of ex wrestler turned florist Guilty Mitaka. Due to her mother's constant traveling, Kobato grew up with an inability to stay in one place for very long, and after Mitaka retired from wrestling, Kobato hit the road on her own. One day, her mother passed along a request from an old accquaintance to hand out a punishment to Zero Kotobuki, a wrestler who had been annihilating others in unsanctioned prize fights. After handily defeating Zero and torturing Zero's sister Senka, on whose orders Zero had been acting, Melody decides to help Zero find happiness and drags her along on her travels.
  • Ass Kicks You: Her trademark Melody Stamp from Ai.
  • Badass Adorable: She looks and acts the part of The Cutie, but she's also a survivalist who loves spending time in the wild and feels right at home just about anywhere as long as she has a knife and facial cleaning implements.
  • Cold-Blooded Torture: Effectively what she does to Senka Kotobuki upon hearing her verbally abuse Zero in the wake of the latter's fight with Melody herself. She puts Senka in a series of excruciating submission holds, inflicting intense pain and wrenching the Kotobuki heiress' joints out of place until she passed out.
  • Exotic Eye Designs: Her pupils seem to contain lopsided crosses resembling stars in the night sky.
  • Friendly Rivalry: She sees Zero Kotobuki of all people as this and started up an Odd Friendship with her after a particularly intense match.
  • Girlish Pigtails: And one is tied a bit higher than the other.
  • Glass Cannon: In gameplay her basic defensive stats are either below average or bad across the board, while her offense, particularly in acrobatic and submission moves, is high enough to make her a legitimate threat.
  • In Harm's Way: After spending most of her childhood traveling the world with her parents, she didn't take well to settling down and running a flower shop after her mother retired. Thus she became a wrestler to continue her old lifestyle.
  • In the Blood: Her mother was a popular wrestler and her father was said mother's manager.
  • Let's Get Dangerous!: If sufficiently pressed, Melody will drop all emotion from her expression and proceed to systimatically destroy the offending party with devestating joint locks. Senka Kotobuki found this out the hard way.
  • Rose-Haired Sweetie

    Chiyoru Hoshino

Chiyoru Hoshino/Pansie Chiyoru

Appears in: Ai, Survivor 2

Voiced by: Saori Goto

  • Finishing Move: Chiyoru Gominote  (Backslide Pin)
  • Glacier Waif, Stone Wall: Her offensive abilities are frankly pitiful, but her defense is amazing despite her being one of the smallest and skinniest characters on the roster.
  • Red Baron: "The Cinderella With no Fairy Grandmother"
  • Stalker with a Crush: In her private events, she sneaks into The President's house and manages to stay there for days on end without him ever discovering her. At first he's a little creeped out when he sees her wandering the halls in a Modesty Towel after getting out of his bath, but eventually he starts treating her like an Unusually Uninteresting Sight.
  • Technicolor Eyes: Brownish gold.

    Sa-ki

Sa-ki/Sa-ki-ra (Real name: Saki Hikawa)

Appears in: Ai, Survivor 2

Voiced by: Naomi Shindo

  • Finishing Move: Zaiaku-Gatamenote  (Waki-gatame)
  • Lovely Angels: Heel variant. Sa-ki is known for occasionally teaming with Freia Kagami as the "Queen Combination".
  • Mean Character, Nice Actor: The vicious heel with the sadist personality who calls everyone in the audience (especially her fans) "pigs"? Yeah, she's actually a quiet, unassuming Friend to All Children.
  • Red Baron: "Fallen Angel"
  • Saving the Orphanage: Her primary reason for becoming a wrestler was to make money to make things financially easier for the church/orphanage where she was raised and currently still lives.
  • Secret Identity: Very few people in-universe know that Sa-ki and Saki Hikawa are the same person, owing largely to the fact that her fans go to great lengths to keep this info as quiet as they can.

    Migiri Oozora

Migiri Oozora/Giant Oozora

Appears in: Ai, Survivor 2

Voiced by: Fumiko Orikasa

  • Does Not Know Her Own Strength: Notably, her lack of ability to hold back caused the volleyball team that scouted her due to her height and physical ability back in her high school days to view her as a Person of Mass Destruction.
  • Elegant Gothic Lolita: Her ring costume evokes this with frills all over and a girlish hairband.
  • Finishing Move: High-Rise Body Slam (Body Slam)
  • Girls Love Stuffed Animals: Her official artwork shows her carrying around a teddy bear.
  • Internalized Categorism: She often gets bouts of self-hatred because of her height, wishing that she could be small and cute instead. This is best seen in her private events, where she sits down on her knees and asks The President to pretend she's small and pat her on the head.
  • Ojou Ringlets: Her side-locks, as well as the rest of her hair done up into four large ones in the back.
  • Red Baron: "Biohazard"
  • The Giant: Billed as one due to her almost (only Chris Morgan is as tall as she is) unheard of height.
  • Statuesque Stunner: Stands at a whopping 190cmnote !
