That baby is plotting something.

"...Ganondorf has an exceptionally unique case of unibrow, in which his eyebrows connect clearly with his hair, thus forming one very long eyebrow. This puts the typical unibrow (one that connects in the middle of one's face above the nose) to shame..."

Ah, the Unibrow. Not generally considered the most attractive kind of facial hair on the marketnote . So like most kinds of unfashionable/unattractive appearance, characters sporting one are mostly consigned to being either evil, or comical.

If a female has one, it's typically meant to show that she's unattractive. These are a typical uncool feature of nerd girls.

A Subtrope of Unusual Eyebrows (more particularly, Evil Eyebrows), Good Hair, Evil Hair, and Big Ol' Eyebrows.

Evil Unibrow:

    open/close all folders
    Anime & Manga
  • Ryou Mashiba from Hajime no Ippo, the local Sociopathic Hero.
  • Daz Bones a.k.a. Mr. 1 from One Piece has a distinct unibrow and he’s a cold blooded assassin. Of course Zoro who dislikes people with odd eyebrows fights him.
  • From Saint Seiya is Wyvern Radamanthys. He also has the dubious distinction of being one of the best looking characters displaying this particular trait.
  • Mosquito of Soul Eater has one that also droops considerably off each side. Close-ups show that the thing is actually a solid object rather than hair.

    Comic Books
  • Bone: Phoney Bone's unibrow is the only thing other than his shirt that sets him apart from his cousin Fone Bone. He's not evil, but more than often a Jerkass.

    Comic Strips
  • Sterling, the weird baby brother of the title character in Wallace the Brave, has a thick unibrow.

    Fan Works

    Film — Animated
  • Sir Ruber from Quest for Camelot. Well, not really a unibrow, but his eyebrows are just so close to touching each other that whenever he scowls or smirks, it almost looks like he has a long red eyebrow.

    Film — Live-Action
  • In The Company of Wolves, Rosaleen is reminded by her grandmother to beware men whose eyebrows meet — because they're werewolves.
  • The Hobbit: Alfrid Lickspittle is depicted with a unibrow and is generally rude, unpleasant, and even uncaring to those around him.
  • The Hottie and the Nottie: June has one of these as part of her "ugliness".
  • Legend (1985): The Big Bad Darkness has one.
  • Nanny McPhee: Nanny McPhee has one, which serves as one of her unflattering features. It goes away as the children learn one of her five lessons, and behave better.

    Literature
  • Dracula, although it's left out in most adaptations.
  • In Salman Rushdie's novel Midnight's Children, there's a scene in a Moslem neighborhood in Delhi, India, where an 8-year-old girl with one eyebrow starts a riot against a Hindu.
  • Monster of the Year: One of the monsters who shows up to enter the titular contest looks like a normal man, except for his single thick unibrow. It takes Michael a minute to remember that he's read about people who have this trait, at which point he correctly identifies the man as a werewolf.
  • Moongobble and Me: In book 2, about the time Edward, Moongobble, Urk and the Rusty Knight are reaching the Forest of Night so they can go in, they meet a man with a single thick eyebrow that runs over both eyes. He turns out to be the titular Weeping Werewolf they're looking for.
  • Mother Bruce series: Bruce the bear has a very thick unibrow.
  • Mutiny on the Bounty: Parkin, the excessively cruel guard aboard the Pandora who persecutes Byam and the other Bounty sailors arrested on Tahiti. He has "eyebrows that met in an irregular line over his nose."
  • Count Olaf, the Big Bad of A Series of Unfortunate Events, as we are reminded of every book. He's not the only one. Lemony Snicket's brother Jacques also has a unibrow, causing him to be mistaken for Count Olaf.

    Live-Action Television

    Mythology & Folklore
  • In some werewolf legends, one sign of a person being a werewolf was an abnormal amount of body hair, which could include a unibrow.

    Music
  • The villain of Kate Bush's short film The Line, the Cross, and the Curve has a unibrow. She was played by Miranda Richardson.
  • And of course there are the bad-tempered and brawling Gallagher brothers in Oasis.

    Video Games

    Pro Wrestling

    Western Animation
  • Belson from Clarence.
  • Dragon Booster has Big Bad Word Payyn and his son Moordryd. Moordryd's is just a normal unibrow though, while his father's actually curls at parts and actually sticks out a bit off the sides of his head due to its length.
  • Hey Arnold!
    • Helga Pataki has a large unibrow which runs in the family. With the exception of Olga (who is occasionally shown to have had a unibrow as a child but no longer does), the family itself isn't very noble, and Helga is constantly threatening everyone around her (often times following through with her threats), despite her stalkerrific crush on the title character.
    • Harold also has one, however, he became much less of a bully as the show went on, making him something between both types. Ironically enough, Harold makes fun of Helga's unibrow in at least one episode.
    • Nick Vermicelli, Big Bob Pataki's shady business partner with suggested Mafia ties has a thick unibrow.
  • General Molotov from Jimmy Two-Shoes has a large thick unibrow that serves to make him look more intimidating.
  • Doctor Drakken from Kim Possible has a unibrow.
  • The unibrow of Buford on Numb Chucks reflects his Jerkass personality.
  • Mr. Grumpy and Mr. Stubborn from The Mr. Men Show, are two of the more negative personality characters, and the only two to have unibrows.
  • Mooch, the mixed breed pup from 101 Dalmatians: The Series, who serves as the bully.
  • The Simpsons: As shown in the picture, Gerald Samson, Maggie Simpson's nemesis.
  • Squilliam Fancyson, Squidward's childhood rival on SpongeBob SquarePants.
  • In Steven Universe, Gem Space Admiral Emerald, Arch-Enemy of the Off Colors, either has a unibrow with lightning shaped sides or a sort of head crest that resembles one. Army, the most aggressive of Ruby Squad, and Hessonite, the Big Bad of Save the Light, also have these.
  • The Twins in Superjail!, who are constantly plotting.
  • Control Freak of Teen Titans (2003); however, he is a rather pathetic villain, so this could be a combination of the two types.
  • Total Drama:
    • Duncan's unibrow, coupled with his mohawk and piercings, communicates his aggressive personality and criminal history.
    • Eva is an incredibly strong and violent girl of Eastern European origin whose unibrow brings those traits together.
    • Chef Hatchet is the unibrow-sporting, no-nonsense, and intimidating enforcer of the show whose past is hinted to be eventful and grim.
    • The mechanic's design began as a movie murderer shout-out and the unibrow, which lies flat on his "normal" eye and arcs over his bulging eye, makes him look appropriately threatening.
  • Despite being a robot, Megatron of Transformers: Generation 1 had an evil large unibrow.

Comical Unibrow:

  • This Super Bowl ad.

    Anime and Manga

    Comic Strips
  • The Far Side'': When the author wasn't giving his characters glasses, was generally drawing their eyebrows simply as a thick line.

    Film — Animated

    Film — Live-Action

    Literature
  • One of Ponty's roommates in the novel Mike Nelson's Death Rat! is described as having a prominent one:
Scotty only had one eyebrow. It covered both eyes, luckily, but its deviation from a straight line was very minute, dipping only slightly above the bridge of his nose.
  • Tad in Planet Tad. He tries to shave it off but ends up shaving off his entire eyebrows.

    Live-Action Television
  • The Muppet Show: Sam the Eagle has a big black unibrow to underscore his status as The Comically Serious.
  • Night Court:
    • An episode features a girl on the run from a forced marriage. She describes her prospective husband's hideousness by indicating that he has a unibrow.
    • Parodied at one point. A Russian woman is described as having only one eyebrow. When one of our heroes sees a picture, he exclaims, "I thought you meant over both eyes!"
  • In Orange Is the New Black, Blanca Flores has one of these along with her disheveled hair. In season 5, she gets a makeover and gets her eyebrow separated into two, surprising Red.
    "Your eyebrows! They're plural!"
  • The Todd gets one for a one-off visual joke in Scrubs. His waxer was in the Bahamas.
  • Both Bert and Oscar from Sesame Street.
  • Brobee in Yo Gabba Gabba!

    Pro Wrestling
  • WWE's Santino Marella sports one, and he's one of the funniest guys on the roster, Face or Heel.

  • The man whose eyebrows are connected and who has a gold tooth, in EarthBound (1994). Granted, he's also invisible, so you have to take his word for it.
  • Meep from Oxygen Not Included, shown to be The Ditz in game teasers.
  • Pokémon: Farfetch'd is a duck with a marking on its forehead that resembles a unibrow.
  • Warden: Melody of the Undergrowth: Emperor Magulus has a huge unibrow. His could be considered more a "Badass Unibrow" since he can slice through vines with one swing of his sword.

    Webcomics

    Web Videos
  • AstroLOLogy: The prototype version of Leo has one. The final show splits the unibrow into two eyebrows.
  • Mint from Object Terror used to have a living unibrow. Unfortunately, the unibrow was mean to him, so he shaved it off in "P to the Fourth" and never had it since.
  • Rolanda from the YouTube channel, Wassabi Productions, has one to emphasize her gonky appearance.

    Western Animation
  • Francine has one in American Dad! Typically she waxes it, save for one episode where she let it grow in.
  • Daggett in The Angry Beavers.
  • Cupcake from Cupcake & Dino: General Services has one, reflecting his role as The Comically Serious to Dino's more childlike personality in their Foolish Sibling, Responsible Sibling dynamic.
  • Detentionaire: Mathlete Greta Von Hoffman has a large thick unibrow that wiggles when she's happy or excited for comedic purposes. While she's considered rather homely in-universe for her unibrow, she does develop a romantic relationship with Holger, who actually finds it very attractive.
  • Spanky Ham in Drawn Together.
  • Both the Irish cop and the hot-iron salesman in the Disney short Duck Pimples.
  • Ed, Edd n Eddy:
    • Ed has used his unibrow it to emote, do wild-takes, hang from objects and even walk.
    • Rolf has one as well, but it is never mentioned or used in gags.
  • Fudêncio e Seus Amigos: The fourth episode, "Prenda Prendida Prendada" is a Door-to-Door Episode, where Teacher Cudi makes the kids raise funds to help people with merged eyebrows, treating it as if it was a very serious condition. Conrado happens to visit two men with unibrows, who get very mad at being treated like their unibrow is a problem, and punch Conrado so hard he ends up in the hospital.
  • The King from Jelly Jamm has a large, bushy unibrow above his eyes, adding to his goofy appearance.
  • Rosa from Kid Cosmic has one. She inherited it from her father, who also has one.
  • Poppy from Lola & Virginia. Instead of being evil or comedy, she's one of the main character's two best friends. Visually the unibrow is played as part of her tough, tomboy image. But plotwise it's not really an issue and isn't even pointed out by the other characters.
  • Major Monobrow Monogram from Phineas and Ferb, and his son, Monty. Dr. Doofenshmirtz even calls him "Major Monobrow" because of this.
  • King Bob from Recess.
  • Rick and Morty: Rick Sanchez has a single bushy unibrow across his face.
  • Rocky Kwaterner: Rocky has a pretty noticeable thick unibrow across his face. In certain scenes it's even visible over his hair for some reason.
  • Groundskeeper Willie from The Simpsons.
  • Total Drama:
    • Brick's unibrow serves two purposes: it's part of his military-tough exterior and it's part of his kind and silly personality.

  • Henchman 24 from The Venture Brothers is described by 21 as "Jerry Seinfeld with a unibrow".

    Real Life
  • Frida Kahlo is famous for her self-portraits that emphasize her large bushy unibrow. Rare in that it is not villainous or comical, but rather is valued for its artistic value and redefinition of beauty. However, Kahlo was considered classically attractive by many; she just Accentuated The Negative whenever it came to drawing herself due to a bad self-image.
  • Madonna gives a Shout-Out to this style on the cover of her album Madame X, in which her name is written across her brow in a manner that emulates Kahlo's unibrow.
  • This was actually considered a desireable feature on women in ancient Greece, if you can believe it, to the point where women with two eyebrows would sometimes give themselves a fake unibrow using wax and animal hair.
  • Chi McBride. He usually plays likable characters though.
  • Brazilian writer Monteiro Lobato.
  • Anthony Davis, a member of the 2012 NCAA men's basketball championship team, the University of Kentucky Wildcats, is known for his unibrow. So much so that there is merchandise relating to it ("Bow to the Brow"; "Fear the Brow") and they have even redecorated the mascot to give it a unibrow.
  • The Gallagher brothers from Oasis.
  • Hugh Acheson, regular judge on Top Chef, is well-known for his unibrow. In fact, he's often called "Hughnibrow".
  • Former Dodgers and Cardinals slugger Wally Moon. Not evil, unless you were an opposing pitcher who gave up one of his famed "Moon shots" (what fans called Moon's home runs).
  • And of course we cannot forget Mehdi Sadaghdar, who has managed to keep a majestic unibrow for years despite regularly getting into situations where it could easily be singed off.
