The Incarnates

    General

The victims of the villainess Priestess who remained heroes. While all of them come from very different worlds, they are all ultimately facing the same problem: having to cope with the memories of an entirely different life, with homes and loved ones they will never get to see again, all while working to protect the world from evil.

General Tropes

  • Adaptational Badass: The five (later six) 1-A students are in the very small group of people affected by the Priestess’s quirk who gained anything useful, and as such are much more powerful than their canon counterparts, even if some of them can’t truly use their past lives’ abilities.
  • Blessed with Suck: They get their Past-Life Memories, including all the baggage said past life had. That also includes remembering loved ones that they'll more than likely never get to see again, and remembering their deaths.
  • Character Development: Since most of their previous lives died as adults, Incarnates (for all their (heh) quirks) tend to be generally more mature. It really doesn't mean much since the victims are usually adults already, but it's evident with the U.A. students, who are all still teenagers. To wit:
    • Izuku is more confident and less willing to take anyone's abuse. He's also generally less self-destructive; while part of that is because his strength being so great that his limits are much higher than canon Izuku, it's also clear that Sanji's personality has influenced him so he knows his limits and knows better to go past them unless it's absolutely necessary.
    • Ochako's personality is generally the same, though like Izuku she's more confident. Notably, unlike in canon, she doesn't break down in tears after losing to Katsuki during the Sports Festival, only being disappointed she lost due to bad timing. This mirrors Hinata's own growth in confidence and her Silk Hiding Steel personality.
    • Momo has more of a temper and is a lot more willing to use physical force to get her point across, echoing Erza's assertive character and leadership style.
    • Mashirao is less generic and is more willing to act as the voice of reason.
    • Toru stands out more thanks to being a lot more energetic, and due to the world Pinkie came from, is more willing to reach out to others.
    • Katsuki is still very abrasive, but generally easier to get along with and more self-aware of his faults (sans his No Sense of Direction, which, unlike Mashirao's, is Played for Laughs). He's also more supportive of his classmates, comforting Izuku in the aftermath of All Might's last fight and indirectly revealing his intentions to teach Class 1-A how to use Haki.
  • Cloudcuckoolander: Most of them aren't all there, to say the least.
  • Face–Heel Turn: The Lost Souls, who are heroes who are the reincarnations of villains. They're the rarest type of incarnate, and only two have been shown so far: Righteous Fury and Jack Attack.
  • Massive Multiplayer Crossover: All of their past lives are characters from a different franchise, and the story doesn't isolate itself to one genre. While most are from anime/manga, there is also live-action film, live-action TV (including American Sentai) and western animation.
  • Original Character: All the adult Incarnates are characters made by the author specifically for this story, as opposed to being characters from canon.
  • Reincarnation: All of them are reincarnations of characters from other franchises.
  • Seen It All: Between chakra-eating World Trees, talking ponies, time-traveling aliens, Power Rangers, reality-warping jewelry, cursed hot springs, and the Grand Line, there is very little that phases an Incarnate.
  • A Shared Suffering: With the exception of the Lost Souls, Incarnates are able to bond more easily with each other due to the unique experience of remembering their past lives. As a result, most Incarnates tend to be very close friends.
  • Took a Level in Badass: On top of whatever the skills they inherited from their past lives, they also inherit Past-Life Memories, which includes combat experience. This especially applies to the UA students, who now have decades of combat experience to fall back on and access to polished fighting styles they can integrate their Quirks into. Compare that to before, where many of them had never been in a real fight beyond All Might's first-class and didn't really have any sort of fighting style at all.

U.A. High School

     Izuku Midoriya — "Deku"

Izuku Midoriya

Past Life: "Black Leg" Vinsmoke Sanji

The main protagonist of the story and the reincarnation of the legendary pirate and cook, "Black Leg" Vinsmoke Sanji.

  • Adaptational Angst Upgrade: In addition to his canonical background, Izuku has to live with knowing Sanji’s Dark and Troubled Past.
  • Awesomeness Is a Force: Unlike Sanji, he was born with Conqueror's Haki. He manages uses it unconsciously several times before finally managing to learn how to control it during the Nomu Invasion arc.
  • Berserk Button:
    • Oddly enough, wasting food isn't one. While he still doesn't like it, it doesn't majorly piss him off like it did Sanji.
    • Hitting women, however, is still very much around, even though Izuku has managed to curb it better.
  • Broken Ace: A Supreme Chef, a master martial artist, and a master Haki user who is all but guaranteed to be the greatest hero in the world. He's also stuck with perpetual personality shifts, had to suffer horrific bullying in both his current and past lives (leaving with him a major chip on his shoulder), and barely has any control over his Quirk due to his idol being a comically inept teacher.
  • Blessed with Suck: With Sanji's strength and cooking skills comes all of Sanji's personality traits, including his perversion, his inability to hit women, his chain-smoking, his aversion with spiders, and his trauma with Okamas (or anything resembling it). Though Izuku admits that as bad as this is, it's nothing compared to what Mashirao has to go through.
  • Cloudcuckoolander's Minder:
    • He's the only one who really knows how to handle Mashirao's No Sense of Direction, thanks to Sanji's own experiences with Zoro.
    • He later also becomes this to Katsuki, the aforementioned Zoro's reincarnation. He's used to all of Zoro's (heh) quirks and knows how to curb most of them, up to and including the No Sense of Direction.
  • Combat Pragmatist: As morally upstanding Sanji was, he was still a pirate. Thus, Izuku has no issues playing dirty as long as it won’t backfire on him.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: Nearly every fight he's had is this with him on the giving end. Of Class 1-A, only Shouto was able to give him anything close to a real fight, and it became obvious early on that Izuku could've ended the fight at any point. The only reason he didn't was to force Shouto to use his flames, and even then he still won.
  • The Dreaded: He is by far the strongest incarnate Priestess has awoken, as the villainess herself admits. He quickly proves why at the USJ and the Sports Festival, to the point that people actively fear fighting him and dread about what kind of hero he'll be when he's fully trained.
  • Drama-Preserving Handicap:
    • His inability to hit women was just about the only thing stopping him from wrecking the League of Villains at the USJ, due to Priestess constantly and purposefully getting in his way. He also still doesn't have full control over One For All despite his body now being strong enough to handle most of the backlash.
    • The author then attempted to add another one with the mental block in Forgot About His Powers below to balance out him finally gaining control over his Quirk. However, fan backlash over this decision forced her to truncate and end this subplot as soon as feasibly possible.
  • Forgot About His Powers: Played for Drama. During the Stain arc, finally gaining control over his Quirk causes Izuku to develop a subconscious mental block preventing him from accessing Sanji's abilities until reminded by another person. Hibiki speculates that the block was a psychological response to becoming so strong in such a short time (i.e. going from a weakling to an uber-tier combatant in literally thirty seconds). According to Word of God, he'll overcome it after the Final Exams arc.
  • Giving Up on Logic: Admitted to giving up on logic in his past life as Sanji and operates under a similar mindset as Izuku.
  • Heroic Self-Deprecation: Even with Sanji's Past-Life Memories pumping up his confidence, his self-esteem is still astoundingly low. It's one of the reasons why he fails to realize he was born with Conqueror's Haki and instead tries to rationalize his ability to use it as it being replicated by One For All from his memories. It takes Sanji himself outright telling him that was born with it for him to realize the truth, and even then it takes time for that truth to finally sink in.
  • Heterosexual Life-Partners: With Katsuki, after the latter regains his Past-Life Memories as Zoro. It immediately ends whatever remaining bad blood they had left between them, allowing them to mend their friendship. Now they're practically attached at the hip.
  • Ki Manipulation:
    • Unlike Ochako and Momo, he has access to Haki because it isn't another form of energy, just the physical manifestation/materialization of his willpower. He uses Armament to strengthen his legs and to mitigate the backlash of One For All and uses Observation to predict the movements of his opponents.
    • He also has access to Conqueror's, much to his surprise, and uses it during his match against Shinsou. Izuku believes that One For All replicated the ability from his memories since Sanji didn't have it, while the readers suspect that he was just born with it since he's Sanji's reincarnation, not Sanji himself. The latter is eventually confirmed to be the case by Katsuki (whose own previous incarnation had the ability), who speculates that the reason Izuku hasn't realized that himself is because of his low self-esteem.
  • Manly Tears: His crybaby tendencies more-or-less subsided when he gained Sanji's memories. They briefly return after All Might's last fight, knowing that his hero's career is officially over.
  • Mood Whiplash: Literally. Because Izuku and Sanji have strongly differing personalities, Izuku has to deal with perpetual mood shifts every time he goes into "Sanji mode". Hibiki confides that he'll have to deal with this for the rest of his life.
  • Normal Fish in a Tiny Pond: Not to say Sanji was weak — he was one of the most powerful pirates to have ever sailed the Grand Line. However, he wasn't the most powerful (as Izuku puts it, he was a step below "uber-tier", much to Hibiki's disbelief). Regardless, that is still overpowered by the standards of My Hero Academia; he's now the strongest member of his class by far and close to being on par with All Might without his Quirk.
  • Only Sane Man: Of the Neo-Monster Trio, comprised of Mirio, Katsuki and himself. While he's certainly got his own eccentricities, there's no question he's still the most rational of the three. A fact that he's well aware of, judging by how he cries Tears of Joy at the fact that Mirio is no longer a complete idiot that Izuku has to act the Cloudcuckoolander's Minder to.
  • Open Secret: Downplayed. The mentor-student bond between Deku and All Might is obvious enough that his fellow reincarnates in Class 1-A confront him to drop the charade. They're still Locked Out of the Loop when it comes to One For All though.
  • The Power of Hate: His "Hell Memories" technique is powered by the worst memories of his life. The one he used against Shouto was powered by the memories of his shitty childhood in both his past life and his current life. The one he used against Katsuki was powered by his memories of Luffy's death and Sanji's death.
  • Reincarnation Friendship: With Katsuki.
  • The Rival: He has at least five: Katsuki, Shouto, Momo, Tenya, and Lunch Rush.
  • Seen It All: Compared to the Grand Line, a magical world filled with talking ponies barely warrants a blip on the radar.
  • Ship Tease: There's something going on between him and Ochako.
  • Story-Breaker Power: Since all of Sanji's strength was based on pure skill, and Haki is only the materialization of willpower instead of an entirely new form of energy, Izuku's strength was not nerfed. At all. He quickly proves to be so powerful that he becomes of the League of Villains' number one target, above even All Might. Literally, the only thing stopping him from breaking the plot all together is Sanji's personality flaws.
  • Superior Successor: Ironically, despite being stuck in a world that is much, much weaker than his old one, Izuku actually has the potential to surpass Sanji in strength. This is due to losing none of Sanji's original strength after he regained his Past-Life Memories, while at the same time combining it with the inherent power of One For All. In addition, unlike Sanji, he was born with Conqueror's Haki — which, considering the later revelations in the manga, means that he might even have the potential to surpass Luffy.
  • Supreme Chef: He has all of Sanji's cooking skills, automatically making him the best chef in the world. This quickly earns him the ire of Lunch Rush, who declares them cooking rivals.
  • Technicolor Fire: Ever since his fight against Bakugo during the Tournament arc, his Diable Jambe has a green color to it.
  • Vitriolic Best Buds: Becomes this with Bakugo after the exam. As while he is willing to forgive him, he's still angry about all that happened with the bullying. And then Katsuki regains his Past-Life Memories of Zoro, which effectively solidifies their relationship as this.
  • Worf Had the Flu:
    • The only reason he didn't wreck the League of Villains at the USJ was that Priestess took advantage of his Would Not Hit a Girl tendencies and kept getting in his way until the stress of having his Past-Life Memories awakened finally knocked him out. Even then he did plenty enough damage to force them to flee after All Might arrived and beat Nomu.
    • The mental block in Forgot About His Powers above is the only reason Izuku didn't fight and beat Stain by himself. Because of the block he actually thought he needed help beating Stain when, in reality, he didn't.
  • "World's Best" Character: As Sanji's reincarnation, he's the greatest chef on the planet. To the point that Lunch Rush, a pro-hero who specializes in cooking, declares him his rival after tasting some of his food.
  • Would Not Hit a Girl: Initially played straight, though slowly starting to be subverted. Izuku's inherited Sanji's inability to hit women but has been actively working to overcome that, starting by regularly sparring with Momo. However, he still has no idea how effective that training has been; while he can fight Momo seriously, he doesn't know if he can do the same with another female.

    Ochako Uraraka — "Uravity"

Ochako Uraraka

Past Life: Hinata Uzumaki, nee Hyuuga

  • Drama-Preserving Handicap: Since chakra doesn't exist and she no longer has the Byakugan, Ochako only inherited Hinata's taijutsu skills and advanced ninja training.
  • Heroic BSoD: She collapses into tears after Izuku is kidnapped by the League of Villains.
  • Holding Hands: Much like she did with Naruto many times in her previous life, she holds Izuku's hand as he cries in the aftermath of All Might's last fight.
  • Mythology Gag:
    • Hinata's favorite pastry is cinnamon rolls... which turns out to be one of Izuku's fanon nicknames.
    • That's nothing — Sanji was originally supposed to be called "Naruto" before Oda's editors forced him to change it for the sake of the upcoming Naruto manga, the same manga Hinata originates from. It seems no matter what life she's living, she always ends up falling in love with a Naruto.
  • Only Sane Man: Of the Incarnates, she has the least amount of... peculiarities. Since most of Hinata's oddities revolved around her mountain-sized crush on Naruto, Ochako has none of them because she doesn't feel that strongly for anyone (yet). Though they begin to surface when near her current crush (especially during the Final Exams): Izuku.
  • Ship Tease: There's something going on between her and Izuku. Many of the events of her growing romance with Naruto is echoed in her relationship with Izuku.
  • Stock Ninja Weaponry: To compensate for the loss of her Byakugan, Ochako stocks up on a lot of kunai and shuriken to help supplement her fighting style.
  • Weak, but Skilled: Ochako undoubtedly got the least out of her Awakening thanks to the MHA world's lack of chakra, preventing her from regaining the Byakugan or recreating her fighting style. However, she's still a master martial artist with advanced ninja training, which is more than a match for most opponents. For example, her practice at aiming kunai and shuriken allows her to knock out two participants in the first half of the License Exam quickly and easily, causing her to be the third person to pass after Izuku and Katsuki.

    Momo Yaoyorozu — "Creati"

Momo Yaoyorozu

Past Life: Erza Fernandes, nee Scarlet

  • Action Girl: Well, she is the reincarnation of the Action Girl of Fairy Tail.
  • Berserk Button: Minoru Mineta, which is implied to be due to his similarities to Erza's Berserk Button, Ichiya Vandalay Kotobuki.
  • Drama-Preserving Handicap: While she can recreate normal weapons and use them, she has no access to her magical ones anymore, nor to magic in general. That's just about the only thing preventing her from being as absurdly overpowered as Izuku.
  • Friendly Rival: To Izuku, and vice versa.
  • Hate at First Sight: Gained an instant hatred of Mineta once she saw him after gaining her Past-Life Memories. It's implied to be because Mineta reminds her of Ichiya, who was also a perverted dwarf.
  • I Let You Win: She forfeited her match with Katsuki so Izuku could fight him, knowing that this was Izuku's battle, not hers.
  • The Leader: While Izuku is undoubtedly the main character and the strongest member of the group, Momo often takes the lead thanks to Erza's experiences of leading Fairy Tail bleeding into her already pre-existing natural leadership abilities.
  • Spontaneous Weapon Creation: She can mimic Erza's requip magic via her Quirk, though it takes far more energy and time than she would like. She also doesn't have access to any of her magical weapons and armor anymore.

    Mashirao Ojiro — "Tail Man"

Mashirao Ojiro

Past Life: Ryoga Hibiki

  • Achievements in Ignorance:
    • Somehow managed to win second place in the first round of the Sports Festival by getting lost.
    • Later on, he joins the confrontation against Stain, despite never even checking his phone to find Izuku's message. How? He got lost. Again.
  • Beyond the Impossible: His ability to get lost defies all normal comprehension, to the point that Hibiki has given up trying to make sense of it for the sake of his own sanity.
  • Blessed with Suck: He may be an even better martial artist than before, but he also got saddled with the worst sense of direction in all of anime.
  • Logical Weakness: Ryoga's abilities only increased his power, not his speed, so a sufficiently fast enough opponent could dodge his attacks and defeat him if given an opening. Stain, one such opponent, took advantage of this and nearly succeeded if not for Mashirao's comrades.
  • No Sense of Direction: His awakening of his Past-Life Memories immediately broke whatever sense of direction he may have had. For example, when his parents drop him off in front of U.A. the day after his past life memories come in, he immediately begins to walk away from the school without noticing it.
  • Only Sane Man: Like Ochako, he has one of the more sensible personalities of the Incarnates. If it weren't for his No Sense of Direction, he'd probably be the sanest person there.
  • Supernatural Martial Arts: What he inherits from Ryoga. While it isn't enough to measure him up to Izuku or even Momo, he's definitely one of the more powerful incarnates Priestess has awoken.

    Toru Hagakure — "Invisible Girl"

Toru Hagakure

Past Life: Pinkamena "Pinkie" Diane Pie

    Katsuki Bakugo — "King Explosion"

Katsuki Bakugo

Past Life: "Pirate Hunter" Roronoa Zoro

  • Adaptation Relationship Overhaul: His relationship with the rest of Class 1-A takes a major hit after his past as a bully is exposed, with few of them willing to associate with him. Things do get better after they recognize his efforts to atone, though it takes receiving his Past-Life Memories to make a full reconciliation.
  • The Alcoholic: Much like how Izuku's vice is chain smoking after the awakening of his Past-Life Memories, Katsuki's is alcohol. He has to actively refrain from trying to drink any, because he will get kicked out of U.A. for that.
  • Awesomeness Is a Force: He was born with Conqueror's Haki like Zoro, so he already knows how to use it effectively. After it's confirmed that Izuku has been rescued and that All Might is about to enter the last fight of his hero career, Katsuki uses it to knock out all the Nomu Class 1-A has been fighting so they can find the nearest television screen to watch it.
  • Berserk Button: Much like Izuku, anything have to do with Blackbeard or Akainu.
  • Big Brother Instinct: After he awakens his Past-Life Memories, he becomes protective of Izuku, both out of guilt and due to Zoro's innate protectiveness of his loved ones. When Izuku is kidnapped by the League of Villains during the Nomu Invasion, an enraged Katsuki can only scream in anguish.
  • Character Development: He gradually becomes a better person as the story goes on, largely out of guilt over how he treated Izuku. After he regains his Past-Life Memories as Zoro, he's unquestionably a better person, but now it's his guilt that's holding him back.
  • Cloudcuckoolander: While he does regard Zoro's opinion of heroes as stupid, that hasn't stopped him from inheriting much of his previous incarnation's questionable sanity. Such as insisting on cutting out his eye, because he lost it in his previous life and knows he could cope without it. Despite Izuku's fervent protests, it takes Momo revealing her own bad experiences with a lost eye in order to convince him not to go through with it.
  • The Dreaded: He instantly becomes this once Priestess awakens his Past-Life Memories as Zoro.
  • Easily Forgiven: Justified. After his Past-Life Memories awaken, the others forgive him for his past transgressions and welcome him into the group. Part of this is because even before he got those memories back, he was trying to change for the better. After, his guilt is so palpable that he's already punishing himself more than any of them could ever hope to.
  • Friendly Rival:
    • What he ultimately becomes to Izuku, after he remembers his past life as Zoro.
    • He also becomes this with Momo after reconciling with Izuku, as she is the only other swords(wo)man in the the class.
  • Hated by All: His already shoddy reputation with the UA student body is absolutely destroyed after a comment on one of Aiko's memes exposes his past as a bully. While Class 1-A eventually move past it thanks to Katsuki's Character Development, his reputation with the public is still rather tenuous.
  • Heel Realization: He finally realizes how much of an asshole he's been after he learns that he suicide-baited Izuku and completely forgot about it.
  • Heterosexual Life-Partners: With Izuku, after regaining his Past-Life Memories. The two went from being at each other's throats to being at each other's throats and attached to the hip. In a later chapter, Katsuki even calls Izuku his brother in everything but blood.
  • I Hate Past Me: While Katsuki already hated his past self for his treatment of Izuku, the feeling goes up a notch after he regains his Past-Life Memories of Zoro. In particular, he mentions wanting to strangle his younger self for calling Izuku "Blackbeard's Ghost", because now, with Zoro's memories, he knows damn well how horrible and offensive an insult that was.
  • Implausible Fencing Powers: Well, he is the reincarnation of Roronoa Zoro.
  • Ki Attacks: He can also use Haki, like Izuku. As it goes, he has stronger Armament and weaker Observation than Izuku, as Zoro specialized in the former while Sanji specialized in the latter. He also has Conqueror's Haki, and unlike his rival he can fully control his as Zoro was born with it and was able to fully master it before he died.
  • Manly Tears: For all that he is a tough guy, both in his current life and his past life, even he can't help but shed Tears of Joy when he realizes that Mirio is Luffy's reincarnation.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: After he awakens his Past-Life Memories as Zoro, he's horrified that he essentially recreated his best friend's terrible childhood.
  • No Sense of Direction: Well, he is the reincarnation of the man with the second worse sense of direction in all of anime. In some ways, he's actually worse than Mashirao because he's in complete denial about it.
  • Normal Fish in a Tiny Pond: Even more downplayed than Izuku. Zoro was literally one step below the Four Emperors in strength. As Katsuki, he's potentially even stronger than Izuku, which is why Priestess had such a massive Freak Out about him.
  • Odd Friendship: With Toru, who is actively trying to redeem his character, along with Koda later on.
  • Percussive Therapy: After Izuku is kidnapped by the League of Villains, Katsuki is practically frothing at the mouth with so much rage that the only thing stopping him from trying to rescue his best friend is Aizawa directing him towards a bunch of Nomu to pound on.
  • Reincarnation Friendship: With Izuku.
  • Story-Breaker Power: Much like Izuku, all his strength came from pure skill. However, he's arguably even worse than Izuku, because he doesn't have Izuku's aversion to hitting women. He does, however, have Zoro's No Sense of Direction.
  • Suspiciously Specific Denial: He keeps on insisting his rivalry with Tashigi in his previous life was not a "sex thing".
  • Took a Level in Badass: He went from being the most powerful non-incarnate student after Todoroki to becoming the only student on par with Izuku.
  • Took a Level in Kindness: Actively tries taking one after having a Jerkass Realization. He struggles at first, but it eventually takes after he awakens his Past-Life Memories as Zoro. Now, while he's definitely still very abrasive, he's overall much more polite and considerate than he used to be.
  • Vitriolic Best Buds: After finally burying the hatchet with Izuku, they slowly begin moving towards this. Which is effectively solidified after he gets his Past-Life Memories, as this was Zoro and Sanji's relationship back in One Piece.
  • Walking Spoiler: As you can see by the number of spoiler tags, it becomes impossible to talk about Katsuki's character without touching on the fact that he's Zoro's reincarnation, something that isn't revealed until Chapter 56 and defines a significant part of his character from then out.
  • World's Best Warrior: Much like how Izuku became the world's greatest chef upon getting Sanji's memories, Katsuki is now effectively the world's greatest swordsman.

    Nejire Hado — "Nejire-Chan"

Nejire Hado

Past Life: Mirajane Strauss

  • Motor Mouth: After getting the low-down on Priestess, she asks Hibiki a bajillion questions to get more information.
  • Reincarnation Friendship: With Momo. Like Izuku, Katsuki, and Mirio, the two recognize each other on sight and are quick to share a hug.

    Tamaki Amajiki — "Suneater"

Tamaki Amajiki

Past Life: Shikamaru Nara

  • Brilliant, but Lazy: He's Shikamaru, after all.
  • Heterosexual Life-Partners: With Mirio, even after remembering their past lives.
  • Improbably High I.Q.: Being the reincarnation of Shikamaru, he is now perhaps the only person in the school that can keep up with Nedzu intellectually.
  • Oh, No... Not Again!: Defied. He makes it plain to Ochako that he is not going to endure another years-long Will They or Won't They? situation and that she better confess to Izuku soon.
  • Reincarnation Friendship: Downplayed with Ochako. While the two immediately recognize each other as fellow ninja and in fact knew each other well, they weren't particularly close in their past lives, being mainly connected through Naruto. While Tamaki is able to recognize her as Hinata fairly easily, owing to his increased intelligence, Ochako initially mistook him for Sasuke due to his hair before he revealed himself as Shikamaru.

    Mirio Togata — "Lemillion"

Mirio Togata

Past Life: "Straw Hat" Monkey D. Luffy

  • Big Eater: Deconstructed. He inherited Luffy's appetite. That does not mean his body is capable of satiating said appetite without severe consequences.
  • Blessed with Suck: Luffy's appetite, which causes him to eat more than his body can handle. At least he didn't inherit Luffy's stupidity.
  • The Dreaded: Played for Laughs. While Izuku and Katsuki are more than happy to see him again, they're terrified of having to go through more of his Weirdness Magnet-antics.
  • Dumbass No More: While a capable hero, Mirio is rather Book Dumb. However, he's a genius compared to Luffy, who was a flat-out moron.
  • Food Coma: He falls into one after trying to eat a Luffy-sized portion of Izuku's food. Both Izuku and Katsuki predicted this would happen, considered it a necessary lesson for him to learn, and left him laying on the floor for a while since he was unable to move himself.
  • Heterosexual Life-Partners: With Tamaki. Mirio is quick to assure Tamaki that their Past-Life Memories don't change anything and that he has no intentions of replacing Tamaki with another as his best friend.
  • Once Done, Never Forgotten: He's still well-remembered for his First Year Sports Festival, where his Quirk caused him to be filmed naked on live television.
  • Person of Mass Destruction: Before Luffy died, he wrecked an island during one of his last fights, which was against Zoro. While Mirio isn't quite as strong thanks to losing his Devil Fruit powers, he's strong enough that a spar with Katsuki is delayed so they can find a battlefield that they can destroy without hurting any bystanders.
  • Reincarnation Friendship: With Izuku and Katsuki. While he recognizes Izuku thanks to his memories of the Sports Festival, he recognizes Katsuki by instinct alone.
  • Weirdness Magnet: Played for Laughs. It's speculated he'll inherit Luffy's ability to attract trouble, which is why he is the Dreaded for Izuku and Katsuki.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: He's pissed at Katsuki after remembering he bullied Izuku for years in their current life. Even after learning Katsuki has already apologized to Izuku and reformed, he's angry enough that they decide to blow off steam together in a spar, with the added benefit of helping Katsuki work through his guilt.

    Hibiki Kinzoku — "Orchestra Rave"

Hibiki Kinzoku

Past Life: Anthony "Tony" Edward Stark — "Iron Man"

  • Book Dumb: According to both him and his AI Aiko, he was a complete moron before regaining his Past-Life Memories as Tony.
  • Butt-Monkey: A frequent target of mockery, particularly from his Benevolent A.I. Aiko.
  • Curb Stomp Cushion: Hibiki derives most of his power from technology, mainly the metal suits Tony built to be a hero. His opponent for the reassessment? Katsuki Bakugo, the reincarnation of a man who was able to cut through steel. The fact that he was able to put up a fight at all was impressive in itself.
  • Deadpan Snarker: Well, he is the reincarnation of the MCU Tony Stark.
  • Ditzy Genius: He's got all of Tony Stark's intelligence, but is this thanks to his default personality being that of a moron.
  • Gadgeteer Genius: Having Tony's brains makes him one of the smartest people on the planet, and one of Mei Hatsume's idols.
  • Gale-Force Sound: His Quirk allows him to use sonic blasts, which he quickly incorporated into his new armor after regaining Tony's memories.
  • Hated By I-Island: He's reviled on I-Island for being an Insufferable Genius who gives unwanted critique to everyone's inventions. It's so bad that Hibiki tries to make his association and friendship with All Might as public as possible there to stave off the antagonism.
  • Hopeless with Tech: He can't even use Amazon without accessing Tony's memories.
  • Insufferable Genius: Which is why the residents of I-Island openly hate him. He can't help but keep on pointing out the flaws in their own inventions.
  • The Nicknamer: As the reincarnation of MCU Tony Stark, this is to be expected, calling Izuku "Long John Silver", Mashirao "Tails" and Aizawa "David Lynch".
  • Original Character: He doesn't exist in canon, being a creation made solely for this story.
  • Story-Breaker Power: Downplayed. While he didn't get extra abilities or skills, Tony's sheer brilliance more than made up for it and has probably advanced Earth's technology by at least a century. In fact, before Izuku came along Hibiki was the standard for how badly Priestess' Quirk could backfire.
  • Team Dad: Acts like an overenthusiastic dad throughout the entire Sports Festival, cheering on his kids like no tomorrow.
  • The Worf Effect: The Reassessment sees him suffer this (when he's using all the suits he's built with Tony's memories no less) at the hands of Katsuki.

Others

    Yuzu Hoseki — "Crystal Harmony"

Yuzu Hoseki

Past Life: Elizabeth "Liz" Lemon

  • Badass Normal: She was this in her past life due to being able to handle anything life threw at her and being capable of surprising feats of strength when hangry. In fact, she's the only non-superpowered being Priestess flipped out over. It's also the reason Hoseki continued to be a hero in spite of not coming from a heroic background in her previous life, stating that if she could handle her awful coworkers, she could handle supervillains.
  • Cast from Calories: How her quirk works. Unfortunately thanks to her past life's love of her food this is now a real problem when she gets an empty stomach.
  • Spontaneous Weapon Creation: She can create weapons like a giant hammer made of crystals.
  • Unstoppable Rage: Flies into this when she's hungry, as two poor villains learned. No, I'm not making that up.

    Hana — "Rosewater"

Hana

Past Life: Rose Quartz

  • Green Thumb: She can grow plants spontaneously.
  • Making a Splash: Her quirk Watering Can combines this with Green Thumb above, she creates water that instantly causes any flowering plant to grow.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: Everything that Rose did in her life has left her reincarnation with severe depression.

    Chouko Ginga — "Lady Sol"

Chouko Ginga

Past Life: Eclipsa Butterfly

  • Big Eater: Inherited the "self-control issues" that her past life had with candy bars.

    Ryuji Hogo — "Dino Ace"

Ryuji Hogo

Past Life: Dr. Thomas "Tommy" Oliver

  • The Ace: He's the reincarnation of Tommy Oliver, after all.
  • Story-Breaker Power: Much like Izuku and Hibiki, he's one of the few who didn't lose anything because of the reincarnation — technically speaking — because the MHA world has access to a Morphing Grid.

    Hiroki Niku — "Meat Shot"

Hiroki Niku

Past Life: Troy Barnes

    Aoi Hakase — "Color Wheel"

Aoi Hakase

Past Life: The Eleventh Doctor

    Seito Kuroi — "Dog Spirit"

Seito Kuroi

Past Life: Sirius Black

  • Brutal Honesty: While most Incarnates tend to keep their past lives' deaths secret, Seito is one of the few who don't hide it. This is later revealed to be because the reincarnation of his murderer, Bellatrix Lestrange, is running around as one of the Lost Souls, so there's really no point.
  • Hopeless Suitor: To Chouko. There's nothing necessarily wrong with him, she's just not interested.

Class 1-A

    Tenya Iida — "Ingenium"

Tenya Iida

  • Sixth Ranger: He's not an Incarnate but is still a frequent member of their friend group thanks to his preexisting friendships with Izuku and Ochako. Ochako later confirms his status as an "unofficial" member of the group.

    Shouto Todoroki

Shouto Todoroki

  • The Comically Serious: He was the only one in the midst of Toru's impromptu party in the USJ.
  • Curb Stomp Cushion: He was the only one able to give Izuku anything close to resembling an actual fight at the Sports Festival, and it was blatantly obvious that if Izuku had bothered to take things seriously from the beginning, he would not have lasted as long as he did.
  • Failed a Spot Check: During the USJ incident, he didn't notice the party hat Toru put on his head until it was explicitly pointed out to him.
  • No Social Skills: Just like in canon. The class collectively agrees he needs to get out more.

Villains

    Priestess

Priestess

  • Hated by All: Thanks to the effects of her Quirk, she's one of the most hated villains in Japan, if not the world. This is particularly noticeable considering that she's not a killer. Even the Lost Souls, who are former heroes that are now fellow villains because of her Quirk, blatantly hate her.
  • I Need a Freaking Drink:
    • She demanded booze after awakening Hibiki and Yuzu's past lives as Tony Stark and Liz Lemon, respectively. She quickly hits Kurogiri's bar again after All Might shows up at the USJ, having finally had it with the day.
    • She went on another bender after accidentally awakening the reincarnation of who is all but stated to be Tommy Oliver.
    • And another one after awakening Katsuki and unleashing Roronoa Zoro onto the world.
    • She hits the bar again towards the end of the Nomu Invasion after she Awakens the Big Three and learns they're the reincarnations of Mirajane Strauss, Shikamaru Nara, and Monkey D. Luffy.
  • Nice Job Fixing It, Villain:
    • Effectively screwed over villains for the next couple of decades thanks to giving Izuku his Past-Life Memories as Sanji.
    • Her Quirk, in general, is a double-edged sword. While she does manage to take out a lot of heroes and even convert some to villainy, that's more than made up by those who continue as heroes and have some extra skills and abilities thanks to her. Izuku is obviously the worst case of this, but his fellow students are pretty bad as well, especially Momo. And before Izuku came along, there was Hibiki, who set the original standard of her Quirk backfiring.
    • It reaches the logical conclusion when she ends up awakening the Past-Life Memories of someone on the same level of Izuku. Specifically, Katsuki, who is Zoro's reincarnation.
  • Noodle Incident: Judging by Kurogiri's response to her pulling a wad of cash from her Kimono is to automatically open a warp to his bar in Chapter 3, it's not the first time she's abandoned a fight that's gone pear shaped to get drunk.
  • Reincarnation: Her Quirk allows her to awaken the Past-Life Memories of the victim's most recent past life, in exchange for losing the use of one finger for twenty-four hours.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here:
    • Ditches the USJ once things go too pear-shaped for her to handle.
    • Ditches the Training Camp after her awakening of Katsuki's Past-Life Memories backfires massively.
  • Thou Shalt Not Kill: Believes that all life is precious. Considering her Quirk lets her see into the Past-Life Memories of her victims for a brief time, including all the deaths they've experienced (from the darkly funny to the downright horrible) it's easy to see how she got this view.
  • Villainous Breakdown:
    • She loses her mind after she realizes she unleashed "Black Leg" Sanji onto the world. A heroic "Black Leg" Sanji.
    I have unleashed a monster!
    • She completely flips her lid after she learns Katsuki is Zoro's reincarnation, and that she just woke up his Past-Life Memories.

The Lost Souls

    Righteous Fury

Past Life: Bellatrix Lestrange

  • Boomerang Bigot: Being a witch and a pureblood supremacist at that, she's furious to be reincarnated into a world where magic does not exist, making her for all intents and purposes a muggle. Ignoring the fact that she, you know, has superpowers.
  • Fantastic Racism: Even though wizards don't exist in her new world, she's still a pureblood supremacist and resents the fact that she no longer has her magic. It seriously borders on Irrational Hatred.
  • The Resenter: She hates Incarnates who managed to translate some of their past life abilities into their current life, because she can't do the same with her magic.
  • Unstoppable Rage: Her Quirk, "Painful Rage", allows her to channel her anger into energy that can cause her opponents pain.

    Jack Attack

Past Life: The Joker

  • Death Dealer: His Quirk allows him to create razor sharp playing cards which he can use to attack people.
  • Evil Mentor: To Shigaraki, being the one to suggest attacking all hero schools to him. It's fitting, considering he's the reincarnation of one of the evilest and most dangerous supervillains across the multiverse.
  • Fighting from the Inside: His current incarnation's original personality has mostly been suppressed, but still has enough influence to hold him back from committing more dangerous acts of villainy.
  • Monster Clown: He's the Joker.

Others

A.I.K.O | Aiko — "Artificial Intelligence Knows Objectively"

Aiko

  • Androids Are People, Too: Thanks to the technological advances the MHA world has in comparison to the MCU, Hibiki had a lot more storage to work with, and thus was able to give Aiko more of a personality in comparison to the likes of J.A.R.V.I.S. and F.R.I.D.A.Y., making Aiko virtually indistinguishable from a regular human.
  • Benevolent A.I.: Even snarkier than Tony's past AIs, though unquestionably a force of good.
  • Deadpan Snarker: An AI made by the reincarnation of Tony Stark.
  • Fountain of Memes: An In-Universe memelord.
  • Phrase Catcher: "Objectively what?"
