The Pink Corruption (or simply Pink Corruption) was a fan-animated series of Just Shapes & Beats that started in 2019. It was made and animated by Brittany Robinson (formerly known as Lucas The Dubber) and uploaded on her sister's channel, Breabear/Breeoni Jones, who she co-owned the series with. In 2023, the animated episodes were finally posted on Brittany's channel, and they can be found in playlists here and here.

Cyan is the newest hero made by the Tree of Life, and Cube is appointed as his new caretaker. However, their attempt to reseal the monster Dub goes wrong, and he succeeds in setting the Pink Corruption loose on Paradise again before escaping. Cube and Cyan find assistance in other heroes (Orange, Tsavorite and Gold) and caretakers (Iris, Pentellow and Pyrare) on a quest to put an end to The Corruption.

In February 2020, ownership of the series was said to be given to QuadragonXnote , who continued the story as a comic named Pink Corruption Continued, with plans of it being animated. However, Brittany kept animating new episodes unrelated to this comic continuation. PCC can be read here and the animated installments considered canon to PCC can be viewed in this playlist here.

A sort-of alternate series made by Brittany titled Hope (sometimes stylised as HOPE) had a first episode posted in 2020, but was seemingly discontinued after Brittany made more Pink Corruption episodes. It features the same main characters as well as some new ones, in a mildly different setting and storyline.note

    Examples for The Pink Corruption
  • Affectionate Nickname:
    • Iris affectionately calls Pentellow "Lemon Pie", while she calls him "Grape Jam" in return. In a deleted episode preview (the contents of which don't happen in the episode), Orange calls Iris "Grape" while he calls the other "Grapefruit".
    • In episode 9, Polyhedron nicknames his children "Quinta" and "Hexa", their full names being Quintagon and Hexagram.
  • Amazing Technicolor Population: The shape inhabitants of Paradise come in many different colors, such as blue, green, yellow, purple, orange and even beige.
  • …And That Little Girl Was Me: In episode 9, Cintagon tells the story of how Pentellow's father was told by the Tree Of Life to give his daughter away, before revealing said father to be himself.
  • Arm Cannon: Commander Circumsphere's primary weapon is his arm which operates as a cannon. His corrupted form, Circumcannon, brandishes this arm cannon more violently.
  • Art Evolution: The trees near the Tree of Life's area are each a stack of 3 triangles. The forest that Cube and Cyan are thrown into in episode 3 have trees with leaves made of squares that flow in the wind, as well as branches and roots which earlier trees lacked. By episode 10, conventionally designed cartoon trees with more detailed trunks are included as well.
  • Attack of the 50-Foot Whatever: In episode 10, a giant corrupt taller than the trees breaks out of the first pink tree, which Dub manipulated into birthing hostless corrupts. Defeating it causes a partial World-Healing Wave which purifies that area from the corruption.
  • Back from the Dead: Cubic is essentially killed by the matured Cyan passing by Cube and purifying him. However, Dub uses Cubic's leftover data to revive Cubic for more evil tasks.
  • Battle in the Center of the Mind: In Cube's Dream Sequence, Cubic introduces himself as the latter's virus and uses his claw to hold Cube against a wall. As Cubic walks, the surroundings turn pink, but when Cube counters him, the area returns to blue. Cube lifts Cubic by the shirt, but just before he can land a punch, the screen cuts to black, with Cyan calling Cube's name. He wakes up to find that he had accidentally been attacking Cyan in his sleep, much to his horror.
  • Beam-O-War: Near the end of episode 2, Cyan rapidly matures from being thrown into the Tree of Life just before he confronts Dub. Dub shoots a pink eye beam towards Cyan while the hero shoots a blue ray from his chest to counter it.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: Cube is befittingly kind for a caretaker, and seeing a loved one in pain may reduce him to tears. He gradually becomes a more confident fighter for the sake of protecting his friends. In episode 8, when Acrilimus returns and swallows Cyan, Cube responds by going into the beast to free his friend before killing it on the way out.
  • Big Bad: Dub, the pink monster who intends to corrupt every shape to be under his command.
  • Big Damn Reunion: After The Reveal that Cintagon is Pentellow's father, the rest of the family show up to reunite with their long lost relative too. Then they give each of their own power to upgrade Pentellow to her full strength.
  • Big "WHAT?!": Two from episode 4.
    • When Squadril tells them that any shape that can fight contains a fragment of the Tree of Life, Pentellow, Cube and Cyan say "WHAT!?" in unison, as they only thought heroes and/or caretakers were connected to the Tree.
    • Cube yells "WHAT?!" upon hearing from Iris that the first caretaker they are looking for, Pyrare, is the giant pyramid monster right before his eyes.
  • Black Eyes of Crazy: The majority of characters have pupil-less black eyes, be they Black Bead Eyes or otherwise, but some instances have them develop colored irises to highlight a darker nature.
    • Iris gets tiny light irises on his wide black scleras when he uses his powers, and he may wield his sword and/or grin sinisterly while doing so.
    • When infected by The Corruption, Cube gets an abnormal eye which looks like a black gear with a pink or blue centre, or a black sawblade, and his corrupted form Cubic bear these eyes more often, sometimes as both of his eyes.
    • After he's revived outside Cube's body, Cubic is more often seen having wide black eyes with tiny pink pupils, rather than Cube's flat-lined eyes. Adding to his insanity is that his eyes creepily drip with black liquid.
  • Blank White Eyes: By default, shapes have entirely black eyes, but when overcome by fear or shock, their eyes become white circles with black outlines instead.
  • Blood Knight: Downplayed. Iris is the quickest to jump into action, sometimes widely smiling as he swings his sword, suggesting an eagerness to fight.
  • Blush Sticker: Cyan is first seen with blue ovals below his eyes, that and his smile on his adorable base form is enough to cheer up Cube when he first meets Cyan. Iris blushes purple when Pentellow hugs him. Meanwhile, Cube gains two azure ovals on his cheeks when he's bashful, and Pentellow gets yellow blush stickers when feeling touched or shy.
  • Bridal Carry: In episode 10, Iris runs while carrying his girlfriend Pentellow, with one arm supporting her back and the other lifting her legs, as they search for Cintagon for information of Pentellow's family.
  • Color-Coded Speech: Downplayed. The subtitles for most shapes are white text in a dark blue text box, but for corrupts and other pink shapes, the text box is dark red with pink text. Sometimes when talking about another character, the text color of the other's name changes to that of who is being referred to.
  • Combat Haircomb: Pentellow's hair accessory bow can extend to turn into her literal bow.
  • Cooldown Hug: In episode 2, Heli flies Cube up to the rapidly matured Cyan to get him to calm down, as all that power at that rate would harm the young hero. Cube invites him into an embrace, and there Cyan calmly reverts to his normal form.
  • Cool Sword: Iris can drag a purple sword out of his head. It appears to have rotating gears on it for design.
  • The Corruption: The titular Pink Corruption is a contagious virus which Dub means to spread to take control of the other shapes.
  • Create Your Own Hero: In episode 9, Dub enacts Project C - making a pink hero from corrupted pieces of the Tree of Life, who he names Cyanide. However, after her first outing with Cubic as her caretaker, the latter attacks Cube to reinfect him, and Cyan outcries to Cyanide that heroes are meant to fight Dub's corruption. Cyanide complies to ceasing connections with Dub and tags along with the other heroes instead.
  • Creepy Good: Iris, one of the caretakers, can get rather eager in battle and seems creepily at ease if not apathetic at times. When he summons his sword, his face turns a darker shade of purple, his voice is deeper or distorted and his usually all-black eyes generate tiny pupils. He spookily introduces himself to Cyan, Cube and Lythorus as "your worst nightmare" before dismissing it as a joke and healing Cube.
  • Cyclops: By default, Dub has only one eye (until his upgrade gives him another). Ajaceare is a cube monster with a single eye. Pyrare is the only non-villainous character so far with just one eye, but he's also a monster, suggesting that monsters in this world are those with only one eye, regardless of moral alignment.
  • Daddy Had a Good Reason for Abandoning You: Cintagon gave away his daughter, Pentellow, because the Tree of Life told him his daughter would successfully become the 2nd caretaker if he did so. He was devastated to part from his child, but he complied.
  • Dark Is Not Evil: Iris can sport Black Eyes of Crazy with a darkened face and an off-putting expression, and his chest triangle glows with a black centre instead of white like everyone else's. Nevertheless, he fights for the side of good.
  • Death By Child Birth: Cintagon tells Pentellow that her mother died at childbirth.
  • Detachment Combat: Although they're not used much in direct combat, Dub detaches his arms which tunnel their way through mountains and into the river to spread the corruption.
  • Dissonant Serenity: Iris initially seems apathetic, and even darkly smiling, when he approaches the infected Cube, before using his piece on him to heal him. His unnerving calmness suggests that he's done this many times before.
  • A Dog Named "Dog": Cube is, quite literally, a cube. His non-humanoid form is just his cube-shaped head and floating hands.
  • Double Weapon: Hexagram wields a bar-like weapon with a yellow square on each end. His corrupted form Hexadic wields two pink ones which look similar to the bar-like attacks in some levels of the original game.
  • Dreaming of Things to Come:
    • Cyan sometimes has visions of corrupt shapes before meeting them in person. In episode 1, he panics upon seeing Dub as he was trying to sleep, then the following morning, he and Cube go to him to find that the seal holding him had weakened. In episode 6, Cyan has visions of Ajaceare, warning him that the hostile cube his friends are going after is a monster.
    • Cube confronts his corrupted form, Cubic, in a dream, but even after he's revived outside Cube's body, Cubic shows up in his dream to tell him that he's out and about to find and destroy his friends, as well as have Cube "be close to [him]."
  • Dual Wielding: Hexadic wields two double weapons which he throws around into the walls closing in during his boss battle.
  • Enemy Within: After Cube gets infected, he starts having visions of a corrupted form named Cubic. As long as he's infected, Cubic can briefly take over Cube at any given time to attack his allies.
  • Enemy Without: Cyan cures Cube of the corruption, erasing Cubic from him. However, Dub uses some leftover data of Cubic to revive him without his host, although he can't keep that form for long.
  • Even Evil Has Loved Ones: Dub is said to have been close to his friend Baracuda, who made the virus while Dub configured how to spread it. After his death, Dub seeks to fulfil their evil plan for his sake.
  • Evil Is Angular:
    • When a shape is corrupted, the triangle on their chest turns into a pink octagram.
    • Cintagon and Purpex have the typical circular eyes, but their corrupted forms have more polygonal eyes, respective to their base shape. Cintagram's eyes are pentagon-shaped while Hexacrigon has hexagonal eyes. The latter's hexagonal adornments have triangles added in their designs as well.
  • Evil Sounds Deep: Several corrupts have more distorted and lower-pitched voices than their normal uncorrupted forms.
  • Eye Beams: Dub can shoot pink lasers from his eye(s).
  • Eye Cam:
    • Episode 3 begins from Cube's eyes as he wakes up, the vision being blurry at first before he blinks and finds himself in the forest.
    • After the intro sequence, episode 6 starts from the perspective of an injured Cube, who blinks as he's carried back to the others, the different shots from his eyes showing the sequence of events.
  • The Face of the Sun: The yellow sun with cloud hands in the original game is often seen smiling, and here it even has spoken lines when it didn't in the game. The Sun greets and welcomes the inhabitants of Paradise and even gives announcements, such as the Tree of Life's anniversary (when a hero is made) or the weather.
  • Face Palm:
    • Cube puts his square hand to his face in disbelief after realising that he and Cyan didn't seal the monster properly.
    • In episode 9, Hexagram incredulously puts his hand between his eyes when his father suspects him and his sister to be corrupts that look like his kids, to which Quintagon reminds that anything a corrupt touches turns pink.
  • Failed a Spot Check: Cyan and Cube reseal the monster Dub, but they miss securing the area under the seal inside the cave floor. When Lythorus asks if they sealed there as well, they're disappointed to realise that they had not.
  • Fighting from the Inside: Some shapes are visibly more active in fighting the Pink Corruption from taking over them.
    • Caretakers like Cube have some resistance to the virus, which slows the corrupting process. However, Cube starts having to deal with Cubic after being infected, and the latter states that Cube's bond with Cyan makes him stronger, much to Cube's distress.
    • Episode 4 introduces Purpex, who gets infected by a corrupt flower in the woods. She looks feverishly pink before she turns, and in Tsavorite's fight against her, she flashes back to her normal blue color at one instance before turning pink again.
  • Fighting Your Friend: Several of the heroes' fights against corrupts look like boss battles from the game, and most of those opponents are allies (save for the random cave fish Acrilimus) possessed by the Pink Corruption. Each one ends happily with the heroes purifying the opponent of The Corruption, returning them to normal.
  • Five-Second Foreshadowing: Lythorus tells Cube and Cyan of the imminent effects of the virus: excessive sweating, turning pink and spreading it everywhere. Just behind him is another flower going through this exact process as he explains. The three of them then see a group of corrupted pink flowers behind Lythorus and run away.
  • Flash Step: Each hero can levitate and fly very quickly, zipping into the distance in a flash of light. In episode 5, Iris follows the heroes, who are catching up to Cintagon running from an attacker, by teleporting, and his method of travel does not look dissimilar to the heroes' Super-Speed, as they even arrive at the same place at the same time.
  • Floating Limbs: While shapes can assume a form with a humanoid body, they all lack necks, and only the ones who wear sleeves appear to have arms. Hands are otherwise just smaller shapes that float near one's body.
  • Foolish Sibling, Responsible Sibling: Implied. In Episode 8, Quintagon goes looking for her brother Hexagram, who has been taken captive by Cubic. It is unknown how Hexagram got into this situation, though it is very likely a result of foolishness.
  • Gosh Dang It to Heck!: Cuss words are almost completely avoided. The closest instances to such include Squadril exclaiming "Oh Sugar Honey Iced Tea!" and a few other shapes saying "ship" in place of "shit".
  • Hair Reboot: In episode 2, Dub regenerates his hair right after Iris slices it with his sword.
  • Horns of Villainy: Hexadic, the corrupted form of Hexagram, has horns on his helmet akin to that of a Viking, while Hexagram's helmet has no horns.
  • Impaled with Extreme Prejudice: In episode 9, Cubic's drill strikes Cube through the abdomen. He survives, but it allows Cubic to re-enter Cube's body to reinfect him.
  • In the Hood: When Ajaceare has her hood up, her single eye is concealed unless she's using her powers, in which case it glows.
  • Kid Hero: According to Pentellow, in a hero's first and second forms, they are classified as babies. However, she advises Cube that if they behave like it, then they're being raised wrong.
  • Kill It Through Its Stomach: In episode 8, Acrilimus returns and swallows Cyan, then Cube rescues him by entering the creature's mouth and using his sawblade to break the two of them out.
  • Legacy of the Chosen: Each year, the Tree of Life makes a new hero and chooses a new caretaker to accompany and fight alongside the hero to keep the Pink Corruption at bay, in hopes of vanquishing it once and for all.
  • Let's Split Up, Gang!: In episode 5, Iris suggests that they (the heroes and caretakers) and the two newly introduced members of the Chipzel group split up to solve two tasks in the woods at once - half of them (Iris, Orange, Cube and Cyan) would find the first caretaker, Pyrare, and the other half (Pentellow, Tsavorite, Squadril and Marcle) would save the leader of Chipzel.
  • Losing Your Head: Shapes can make their humanoid bodies disappear, leaving just their head shape which hops or floats around instead. Cube can't revert to this form when he's injured, like after he's struck by Acrilimus' attack and infected.
  • Mad Eye:
    • Dub's upgraded form has two eyes, one of which is smaller than the other, pulsating in a twitching manner.
    • After getting infected, Cube has one eye grow larger than the other with a Psycho Pink centre whenever the corruption in him resurges to try and take over him.
    • Purpex and Cintagon, upon getting corrupted, both possess one eye larger than the other containing a pink pupil.
  • Malignant Plot Tumor: In episode 7, Pentellow brings up that she never knew her biological family. Come episode 8 until 10, beating the corruption starts looking like a side plot, what with the title screen after the intro sequence being "The Family Search" for those episodes. Once that's resolved, Pentellow's family look to be joining the main cast in the fight against the corruption.
  • Meaningful Background Event: As Lythorus explains the effects of the virus to Cyan and Cube, behind him is a flower going through the same effects and corrupting others. Cyan and Cube's terrified expressions say it all.
  • Mind over Matter: Heroes lack hands in their base and second forms, they only get them after being matured, so besides levitating themselves, they levitate other objects to move them. Orange and Tsavorite teach this ability by telling Cyan to imagine lifting something. Anything being moved by a hero tends to glow a color that matches the hero doing the "holding".
  • Moment Killer: In episode 7, Pentellow and Iris share a kiss. Cube says "Aww" as he spectates from the above bunk, interrupting the couple's bonding moment.
  • My Greatest Second Chance: Pyrare says that being Gold's caretaker felt like a miracle, as if he had been given a second chance. Pyrare's own son, Barracuda, being the one who engineered the Pink Corruption in the first place is likely a source of regret for Pyrare.
  • Named by the Adaptation:
    • The original game doesn't give official names to its characters. Here, the blue square protagonist is named Cyan, his larger companion is called Cube, and the Big Bad, only known in the game files as "The Boss", is known as Dub instead, although he tells his subordinates to call him "Boss".
    • The shapes that appear in multiplayer mode are also given names; the orange circle is Orange, the green pentagon is Tsavorite, and the yellow triangle is Gold. Even the living boat and helicopter are called Ketches and Heli respectively.
    • Lycanthropy is inspired off the opponent of the level with the song of that name, often considered by fans to be the character's name (likewise can only be implied for Baracuda). This series gives his non-corrupted form the name Lythorus.
  • Next Tier Powerup: Heroes have an upgraded form that they mature into with the use of pieces from the Tree of Life. Cyan unlocks his too quickly by crashing into the tree in episode 2. In episode 6, Pentellow uses the piece given by the Chipzel group to age Tsavorite, which both heals and matures him. This form gives them more power and a stronger glow.
  • Nightmare Face: Downplayed for Iris. He can make half of his face or all of it turn a darker shade of plum, which gives him Black Eyes of Crazy as he grins maniacally. He uses it to jokingly introduce himself as "your worst nightmare", and also in battle to appear more intimidating.
  • Non-Malicious Monster: Pyrare is a caretaker who happens to be a big pyramid monster, which takes Cube and Cyan aback at first. Others have been frozen with fear at his appearance, but he explains that not all monsters are evil.
  • Odd Name Out: Zigzagged. Compared to the other heroes' colored names like Cyan, Orange and Gold, the name of a green gemstone like Tsavorite sticks out most. However, later episodes call him Green.
  • Posthumous Character: Baracuda, Pyrare's son, died before the time of the series, but he created the virus while Dub continues their plan to take over Paradise in his steed after his death.
  • Power Floats: All of the heroes can levitate, and pretty much always do.
  • Power Glows:
    • Most shapes appears to have a shape on their chest, typically a triangle, which glows when they use their powers. These chest shapes also act as storage for group members, and it glows when one stores back or brings out a piece from it.
    • When a hero uses their mind to move things, the object being moved glows their respective color. Also, a hero's matured form tends to glow when summoned.
  • Power Makes Your Hair Grow: Some shapes get hair when using their powers.
    • Cyan's matured form gives him a light swirly tuft of hair.
    • When he feeds on the cyan tree's power, Dub's hair becomes longer.
    • While some female shapes have hair by default, such as Marcle and Purpex, Pentellow only has a visible hair lock made of pentagons when she summons her weapon. When she reunites with her family and they give her some of their power, she gains a more advanced bow and a bigger hairdo.
    • Of the corrupts, Cubic has a pink mohawk while Cube doesn't have hair, unless he's being taken over by the former. Cintagon gets a tuft of pink hair when he's corrupted into Cintagram. Similarly, Hexagram gains shoulder-length hair as his corrupted form Hexadic, when he has no apparent hair under his helmet.
  • Psycho Pink: Similarly to the original game, anything pink is likely afflicted by The Corruption and associated with evil. Cyanide however may be an exception.
  • Punched Across the Room: In episode 6, Cyan charges up a punch which strikes Ajaceare across the cave chamber.
  • The Quiet One: Gold rarely speaks, and he appears grumpy when Pyrare even gets him to say hello. Pyrare initially had trouble communicating with Gold when he was appointed as his caretaker, making their task to seal Dub take longer, but Gold did warm up to Pyrare. In episode 10, Gold's sudden wordy analysis on the pink tree's condition takes some of the others aback.
Gold: By your reactions, you're just as surprised as I am.
Tsavorite: That is not it, it is the fact that you just spoke more than one word!
  • Savvy Guy, Energetic Girl: Iris is aloof and pragmatic while Pentellow, his girlfriend, is more outgoing and optimistic.
  • Sealed Evil in a Can: Dub is imprisoned in a mountain cave with a special seal powered by the most recently picked hero of that year. Don't forget to seal the ground below him too though...
  • Sentient Vehicle: Ketches the boat and Heli the helicopter are talking transportation whose duties are to take caretakers and heroes where they need to go.
  • Shovel Strike: Quintagon whacks away corrupts with a shovel as yellow as her.
  • Spikes of Villainy: Dub dons a jagged scarf and cloak, pointy shoulder pieces and spiky hair. His arms consist of spiked rotating circles and his default mouth has triangles for teeth. His upgraded form flares out some of these points even more.
  • Spock Speak: Downplayed. Cyanide can speak rapidly in advanced terms, partly like that of a robot, but mostly uses typical lingo. Her first words are the name Dub gives her and its definition, "Cyanide - a rapidly acting, potentially deadly chemical that can exist in various forms."
  • Spontaneous Weapon Creation: Every hero, caretaker and even any shape that can fight tends to have their own weapon that they can summon at any time.
    • Iris can pull his Cool Sword out from the side of his head, and it disappears right back in when he puts it away.
    • Iris refreshes Cube on fighting, namely the latter's controllable weapon, unlike Iris' which is holdable. Cube can produce two claw-like arms from behind him, alike to the original game's "Close To Me" level, to fight with, as well as sawblades and gears akin to those in the game's factory levels.
  • Suddenly Voiced: Played with. All characters speak in electronic sound effects, but in episode 8's musical number, Pentellow and Purpex sing with intelligible vocals, although they are synthesised.
  • Taking the Bullet: Cintagon jumps in front of Pentellow to block Circumcannon's attack, getting himself hit instead, which corrupts him into Cintagram.
  • Teleportation: Iris can teleport, disappearing in a flash of light to reappear elsewhere. He can even teleport someone with him by holding them while he does so.
  • Tempting Fate:
    • In episode 2, after Cube and Cyan tell him that they've sealed Dub, Lythorus is glad to hear that as he doesn't want the Pink Corruption coming back. Cyan asks him what it is, and as Lythorus explains the symptoms of being corrupted, a flower behind him undergoes those symptoms in real time, restarting the Pink Corruption.
    • Played with in episode 6. As she and Cintagon search for Circumcannon, Pentellow says that he sure knows how to hide. Circumcannon replies "I sure do!", revealing his position above on a tree branch. He then says, "Well, maybe I shouldn't have said anything."
  • Tertiary Sexual Characteristics: Female shapes have eyelashes while males do not.
  • That Man Is Dead: A corrupted Lythorus doesn't take kindly to Cube calling him Lythorus. He instead goes by Lycanthropy.
    "IT'S LYCANTHROPY! NOT LYTHORUS!"
  • Thundering Herd: The gang dodges a stampede of corrupt flowers, who make a translucent cloud of dust as they run past.
  • Tombstone Teeth: Dub's smile consists of several narrow rectangles.
  • Uncanny Family Resemblance: Quintagon and her cousin-once-removed Pentellow, who are both female yellow pentagons, look a lot like each other, which Purpex and several others point out before it's revealed they're related.
  • Unstable Powered Child: The heroes are powerful childlike beings made by the Tree of Life, and can achieve more powerful "matured" forms. However, when Cyan matures too quickly, Iris urges Cube to get him to stop as that amount of power could make his mind and powers uncontrollable.
  • Used to Be a Sweet Kid: Pyrare says that Dub used to be a kind beige monster with no malicious intent until he became friends with Barracuda and started plotting the Pink Corruption with him.
  • Use Their Own Weapon Against Them: A variant. If it isn't their usual beam of light, a hero can deal the final purifying blow on a corrupt by spontaneously making their own copy of the weapon the enemy used to fight the hero.
    • Circumcannon, who mostly fights with cannons (even one which shoots from his head in his boss battle), is defeated by Tsavorite blasting a cannon at him.
    • Cintagram deploys square-trailed projectiles in his boss battle. The beam of light which Tsavorite purifies him with is trailed with squares.
    • In episode 9, Tsavorite makes a Double Weapon similar to Hexadic's to strike him with and purify him.
  • The Walls Are Closing In: Downplayed. In the 2nd half of Tsavorite's fight against Hexadic in episode 9, walls surround Tsavorite and box him in with Hexadic. The walls slowly close in on them until Tsavorite defeats him.
  • Water Source Tampering: Implied. By drilling his detachable arm into the cave floor under him towards the outside, Dub infects the nearby river, turning it pink and quickly spreading the corruption.
  • Weather Manipulation: In episode 2, the Sun greets everyone "Good morning" and announces that the weather would be foggy that day, before it proceeds to pull the fog over the sky with its cloud hands.
Heli: (*sigh*)...Great. When I actually needed to see.
  • World-Healing Wave: Downplayed. In episode 10, after Pentellow defeats the pink monster of the first pink tree, a wave spreads around the environment, turning the pink trees green and the tainted sky to light blue again. However, they've only healed that specific area of land and must proceed to the next tree to fix things there too.
  • Wham Line: The …And That Little Girl Was Me story told by Cintagon ends with him saying that he was devastated to leave Pentellow as a child, but now he could finally tell her why he did it.
Cintagon: He was devastated, he thought he could never see her again... until now, I can finally tell you why I had to give you away.
  • Wham Shot: Shortly after the Wham Line, in the flashback of the story being told to Pentellow of how her father was told to give her away, Cintagon can be seen crying with a baby Pentellow sleeping in his arms.
  • Yellow/Purple Contrast: Pentellow and Iris, a yellow pentagon and purple circle respectively. The former is more cheerful and friendly while the latter is less emotional and sometimes Creepy Good.

    Examples for Pink Corruption Continued
The Pink Corruption episodes up until the beginning of episode 6 are considered canon to this storyline, occuring prior to the events illustrated in Pink Corruption Continued, according to QuadragonX. Hence, all tropes for The Pink Corruption prior to then technically also apply here.
  • Adaptation Name Change: Orange is renamed as Citren.
  • Bitch in Sheep's Clothing. Dub takes the form of an innocent flower with the intent of corrupting shapes more easily.
  • Call-Back: On page 4, Challenge tries lifting Cube to slow down his fall but exclaims that he "weighs like 200 pounds." Lythorus said the same thing about Cube in episode 2.
  • Color-Coded Speech: More apparently than the prior animated installments. For example: Iris' words are purple, Citren's text is orange, while Cube, Challenge and Teroblast's speech are different shades of blue. Referring to other characters still results in that text being that character's color, and words said in unison have each speaker's color occupy some of the phrase's words.
  • Colorful Contrails: Moving quickly through the air now gives a contrail that matches the color of the flying hero. Challenge can also fly, leaving a white contrail behind him.
  • Cross-Popping Veins: A red cross representing a vein appears on Challenge's head when Teroblast reminds the former of Challenge's deceased brother. Then he angrily grabs Teroblast for bringing it up.
  • Cute Little Fangs: Downplayed. Teroblast has a light blue fang which peeks out of his mouth, which looks rather endearing combined with his bangs. However, he's rather sketchy at best and he has a short fuse.
  • Cyclops:
    • Challenge has only one eye on his triangular head.
    • Stibnite, the mischievous bat-like shape, only has one eye.
  • Dark Is Evil: The white square on Squadil's top hat turns black after he gets corrupted.
  • Defiant to the End: Squadril gets captured by corrupted flowers and brought to Dub, and the former makes it clear that he'll never surrender to him. Too bad that Dub corrupts him into Hedrilateral anyway.
  • Doomed Hometown: Played with. After Challenge saves the caretakers, he's shocked to find Poly Town in flames, devastated at how such a thing could have happened. However, Challenge's motivation to fight is implied to be something more personal against Dub; for taking Challenge's brother away from him.
  • Exotic Eye Designs: Unlike most Black Bead Eyes shapes who lack pupils, Challenge's eye has a colored narrow triangle for a pupil (which may dilate when he's emotional), while Teroblast's visible eye constantly has an equilateral triangle with a blue inner-outline as an iris.
  • Falling into the Plot: The first comic page continues from the animated Episode 6 preview, where Cube, Iris and Cintagon are dragged by a flying Cyan until Cube loses his grip on Cyan, causing the 3 of them to fall. Iris thinks that they are about to die until Challenge rescues them.
  • Flight:
    • Challenge flies to the falling caretakers to rescue them with Citren's help.
    • A new corrupt shape named Stibnite has visible bat wings that he flies with.
  • Graceful Landing, Clumsy Landing: Once they've rescued them from falling, Challenge gently lets Cube down, and it appears that Citren helped Iris land safely too. Unfortunately for Cintagon, he falls face-first onto a tree branch.
  • Heel–Face Door-Slam: Played with, as Lycanthropy's physical removal of the corruption from him was interrupted. Lycanthropy is moments away from being purified and turning back into Lythorus until Stibnite arrives and breaks him out of the bubble that's healing him. He calls for help from fellow corrupts when he feels his corruption slipping, however, so it wasn't a voluntary reformation anyway.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: Challenge puts himself between the caretakers and the attacking Lycanthropy, and his prism gets corrupted in the process. He says that pyramids like him are resistant to it, and that he had been careful for too long, before telling the others to run as he gradually turns pink.
  • Hiding Behind Your Bangs: Teroblast's hair conceals his left eye, which is already covered by an eyepatch.
  • Innocently Insensitive: Implied. When Teroblast meets his old friend Challenge, the former casually says how he hasn't seen him since the latter's brother died, and Challenge angrily tells him to shut up. Telling him how he was close to his brother before Dub happened reduces Challenge to tears, and Teroblast seems sorry for bringing it up.
  • Interrupted Declaration of Love: On page 23, Teroblast is forced to watch Challenge become corrupted. Challenge's last words are "I... l lov-" before he screeches in agony as the corruption takes over him.
  • Shapeshifting: Per advice from Hedrilatetal to disguise himself as a normal shape to infect others, Dub transforms to have the appearance of a grey flower.

    Examples for HOPE

The title screen for HOPE.
An alternate series to The Pink Corruption which was intended to be a replacement of the former.
  • Art-Shifted Sequel: Not quite a sequel but more of an alternate series, but the artstyle appears upgraded from Pink Corruption, utilising more shading than flat colors in the former as well as more detailed designs.
    • Cube appears taller with a proportionately smaller head to body size than that of his TPC version. His scarf is longer and more shaded through the center than just the folds, and he now wears a pouched belt and a hat.
    • In TPC, The Tree of Life is made of 4 colored trees bunched up as one, each made of triangles like the tree in the original game. In Hope, the tree's foliage is made of several squares and has only one trunk with branches, with the 4 colors hanging off the top as colored leaves.
  • Big Brother Instinct: Cubical often looks out for Cube, worrying about him when he goes out on his own, especially when he's tasked to make the trip to the Tree of Life. They are indeed brothers, and although it's uncertain who's older, Cubical is taller.
  • Cliffhanger: Cube and Cyan are surrounded by corrupted flowers, and before they can get to the Tree of Life in time, it has turned completely pink, and the pink monster emerges from behind the tree right before the episode stops. Leaving this to also be a case of Left Hanging.
  • Kid Hero: The heroes made by the Tree of Life are outrightly referred to as children before being identified by name.
  • Losing Your Head: A corrupted flower socks Cube so hard that his head flies faster than his body. Cube's body fades away while his head lands with his floating square hands, and he takes back Cyan from the attackers.
  • Mad Eye: Downplayed. When Cube is startled, his right eye becomes wider than the other and with a pink centre. Cube getting attacked by the pink monster years ago may be the reason behind the pink eye.
  • Mood Whiplash: The text turns red as a serious Pyrahedron tells Cube that the latter has until the next day before the pink monster releases the virus, with the camera zooming in on Pyrahedron and a vignette closing in. Then it zooms out and brightens up once Pyrahedron smiles and waves, saying "See ya there!"
  • Power Glows: Cube notices crying and a blue light coming from the trees, then he finds Cyan glowing with his wing stuck on a branch. Cube glows as he summons his claw holders to rescue the young hero.
  • Reaching Between the Lines: Pyrahedron, who's on a video-call with Cube through Cyan, extends his arm to push Cube's face as he tells him that Cube will be the fourth caretaker of the Tree of Life and to hurry to the tree and be prepared to seal the pink monster.
  • Self-Adaptation: Hope was to be an alternate series to Pink Corruption which was also made by Brittany Robinson.
  • Split-Screen Reaction: After bringing Cyan home, he surprises Cube and Cubical with a transmission. The brothers' surprised faces are displayed in corner panels with exclamation marks.
  • Stumbled Into the Plot: Cube happens upon Cyan in the woods, rescues him, and then is appointed as caretaker through a call by Pyrahedron because Cube had the new hero in his care.
  • Suspiciously Similar Substitute: Pyrahedron is the one-eyed triangular caretaker of the hero Gold, just like Pyrare (who is absent here) was in the original series, although Pyrare is blue and Pyrahedron is red.
  • Winged Humanoid: Cyan and the other heroes are child humanoids that fly with wings that match their respective colors (originally, they could levitate, but they didn't have wings).
  • Wouldn't Hurt a Child: Even though the young corrupt flowers ambush Cube on his way to the Tree of Life, he says that he refuses to fight children, corrupted or not.

Trivia

  • What Could Have Been: A video of early concept art from 2019 show what the series could have looked like:
    • Before anyone was given humanoid bodies, they looked a lot like their designs from the original game, only with added stick-like legs.
    • Iris was initially going to be a corrupted flower like Lythorus.
    • Tsavorite had triangular wings and a yellow scarf before being an all-green floating hero.

YMMV

  • Broken Base: Miscommunication and drama on the creators' side has left fans at odds over which story to follow, to the extent that two fan-wikis exist to cater to the diverging storylines. It was said that the ownership of The Pink Corruption was given to QuadragonX by Brittany and Breabear, but they still make content and new episodes for it. Some regard Quadragon's Pink Corruption Continued as canon and the animated episodes after episode 6 as non-canon, but Brittany's new episodes still have their followers.
