* EvenEvilHasLovedOnes: Dub is said to have been close to his friend Baraccuda, who made the virus while Dub configured how to spread it. After his death, Dub seeks to fulfil their evil plan for his sake.

* GoshDangItToHeck: Cuss words are almost completely avoided. The closest instances to such include Squadril exclaiming "[[WesternAnimation/{{Madagascar}} Oh Sugar Honey Iced Tea!]]" and a few other shapes saying "ship" in place of "shit".

* LosingYourHead: Shapes can make their humanoid bodies disappear, leaving just their head shape which hops or floats around instead. Cube can't revert to this form when he's injured, such as after he's struck by Acrilimus' attack and infected.

** Dub's upgraded form has two eyes, one of which is smaller than the other and pulsates in a {{twitch|y eye}}ing manner.

** Lycanthropy is inspired off the opponent of the level with the song of that name, [[{{Fanon}} often considered by fans to be the character's name]] (likewise can only be implied for [[PosthumousCharacter Baraccuda]]). This series gives his non-corrupted form the name Lythorus.

* PosthumousCharacter: Baraccuda, Pyrare's son, died before the time of the series, but he created the virus while Dub continues their plan to take over Paradise in his steed after his death.

* ColorCodedSpeech: Played straight, unlike the prior animated installments. Iris' words are purple, Citren's text is orange, Cube, Challenge and Teroblast's speech are different shades of blue, etc. Referring to other characters still results in that text being that character's color, and words said in unison have each speaker's color occupy some of the phrase's words.

* BrokenBase: Miscommunication on the creators' side has left fans at odds over which storyline to follow. It was said that the ownership of ''The Pink Corruption'' was given to [=QuadragonX=] by Brittany and Breabear but they still make content and new episodes for it. Some regard Quadragon's ''Pink Corruption Continued'' as canon and the animated episodes after episode 6 as non-canon, but Brittany's new episodes still have their followers.

* CuteLittleFangs: Downplayed. Teroblast has a light blue fang which peeks out of his mouth, which looks rather endearing combined with his PeekABangs. However, he's rather sketchy at best and he has a short fuse.

* PeekABangs: Teroblast's hair conceals his left eye, which is already covered by an eyepatch.

* HeelFaceDoorSlam: Played with, as Lycanthropy's physical removal of the corruption from him was interrupted. Lycanthropy is moments away from being purified and turning back into Lycanthropy until Stibnite arrives and breaks him out of the bubble that's healing him. He calls for help from fellow corrupts when he feels his corruption slipping, however, so it wasn't a voluntary reformation anyway.

* BigBad: Dub, the pink monster who intends to corrupt every shape to be under his command.
* BigDamnReunion: After TheReveal that [[spoiler:Cintagon is Pentellow's father]], the rest of the family show up to reunite with their long lost relative too. Then they [[spoiler:give each of their own power to upgrade Pentellow to her full strength]].
* BigWhat: Two from episode 4.
** When Squadril tells them that any shape that can fight contains a fragment of the Tree of Life, Pentellow, Cube and Cyan say "WHAT!?" in unison, as they only thought heroes and/or caretakers were connected to the Tree.
** Cube yells "WHAT?!" upon hearing from Iris that the first caretaker they are looking for, Pyrare, is the giant pyramid monster right before his eyes.
* BloodKnight: Downplayed. Iris is the quickest to jump into action, sometimes widely smiling as he swings his sword, suggesting an eagerness to fight.

* CooldownHug: In episode 2, Heli flies Cube up to the rapidly matured Cyan to get him to calm down, as all that power at that rate would harm the young hero. Cube invites him into an embrace, and there Cyan calmly reverts to his normal form.

* {{Cyclops}}: Dub's default form, before he gets upgraded, has only one eye. Ajaceare is a cube monster with a single eye. Pyrare is the only non-villainous character so far with just one eye, but he's also a monster, suggesting that [[OurMonstersAreDifferent monsters in this world are those with only one eye]], regardless of moral alignment.

** Cyan sometimes has visions of corrupt shapes before meeting them in person. In episode 1, he panics upon seeing Dub as he was trying to sleep, then the following morning, he and Cube go to him to find that the seal holding him had weakened. In episode 6, Cyan has visions of Ajaceare, which warns him that the hostile cube his friends are going after is a monster.

* UsedToBeASweetKid: Pyrare says that Dub used to be a kind beige monster with no malicious intent until [[ToxicFriendInfluence he became friends with Barracuda and started plotting the Pink Corruption with him]].

* ArtShiftedSequel: Well, "sequel" is debatable, but the artstyle appears upgraded from ''Pink Corruption'', utilising more shading than flat colors in the former as well as more detailed designs.

* AffectionateNickname: Iris affectionately calls Pentellow "Lemon Pie", while she calls him "Grape Jam" in return. In a [[https://youtu.be/4YG8O-PcziE deleted episode preview]] (the contents of which don't happen in the episode), Orange calls Iris "Grape" while he calls the other "Grapefruit".

* ArmCannon: Commander Circumsphere's primary weapon is his arm which operates as a cannon. His corrupted form, Circumcannon, brandishes his arm cannon more violently.

* BattleInTheCenterOfTheMind: Cubic introduces himself in Cube's dream as the latter's virus and uses his claw to hold Cube against a wall. As Cubic walks, the surroundings turn pink, but when Cube counters him, the area returns to blue. Cube lifts Cubic by the shirt, but just before he can land a punch, the screen [[SmashToBlack cuts to black]], with someone calling Cube's name. He wakes up to find that he had accidentally been attacking Cyan in his sleep, much to his horror.
* BeamOWar: Near the end of episode 2, Cyan rapidly matures from being thrown into the Tree of Life just before he confronts Dub. Dub shoots a pink eye beam towards Cyan while the hero shoots a blue ray from his chest to counter it.

** When infected by TheCorruption, Cube gets an abnormal eye which looks like a black gear with a pink or blue centre, and his corrupted form Cubic bears this eye more often, sometimes as both of his eyes.

* BigWhat:

** Cube yells "WHAT?!" upon hearing from Iris that the first hero they are looking for, Pyrare, is the giant pyramid monster right before his eyes.

* CreepyGood: Iris, one of the caretakers, can get [[BloodKnight rather eager in battle]] and seems [[DissonantSerenity creepily at ease]] if not apathetic at times. When he summons his sword, his face turns a darker shade of purple, his voice is deeper or distorted and his usually [[BlackEyesOfCrazy all-black eyes generate tiny pupils]]. He spookily introduces himself to Cyan, Cube and Lythorus as "your worst nightmare" before dismissing it as a joke and healing the latter.

* DoubleWeapon:
** Pentellow can wield a staff that has a yellow pentagon on each end.
** Hexagram wields a bar-like weapon with a yellow square on each end. His corrupted form Hexadic wields two pink ones which look similar to the bar-like attacks in some levels of the original game.

** Purpex's corrupted form, Hexacrigon, has hexagonal eyes, while Purpex's are the typical circular eyes. Her hexagonal adornments have triangles added in their designs when she's corrupted as well.

* FacePalm: Cube puts his square hand to his face in disbelief after realising that he and Cyan didn't seal the monster properly.
* FailedASpotCheck: Cyan and Cube reseal the monster Dub, but they missed securing the area ''under'' the seal inside the cave floor. When Lythorus asks if they sealed there as well, they're disappointed to realise that they had not.

* FightingYourFriend: Several of the heroes' fights against corrupts look like boss battles from the game, and most of those opponents are allies possessed by the Pink Corruption. Each one ends happily with the heroes purifying the opponent of TheCorruption, returning them to normal.
* FiveSecondForeshadowing: Lythorus tells Cube and Cyan of the imminent effects of the virus: excessive sweating, turning pink and spreading it everywhere. Just behind him is another flower going through this exact process as he explains. They then find a group of corrupted pink flowers right behind Lythorus and run away.
* FlashStep: Each hero can levitate and fly very quickly, zipping into the distance in a flash of light. In episode 5, Iris follows the heroes, who are catching up to Cintagon running from an attacker, by teleporting, and his method of travel does not look dissimilar to the heroes' SuperSpeed, as they even arrive at the same point at the same time.

* LetsSplitUpGang: In episode 5, Iris suggests that they and the two newly introduced members of the Chipzel group split up to solve two tasks in the woods at once - half of them (Iris, Orange, Cube and Cyan) would find the first caretaker, Pyrare, and the other half (Pentellow, Tsavorite, Squadril and Marcle) would save the leader of Chipzel.

* TemptingFate: Played with. As she and Cintagon search for Circumcannon, Pentellow says that he sure knows how to hide. Circumcannon replies "I sure do!", revealing his position above on a tree branch. He then says, "Well, maybe I shouldn't have said anything."

* YellowPurpleContrast: Pentellow and Iris, a yellow pentagon and purple circle respectively. The former is more cheerful and friendly while the latter is less emotional and sometimes CreepyGood.

* HeelFaceDoorSlam: Played with, as Lycanthropy's physical removal of the corruption from him was interrupted. Lycanthropy is moments away from being purified and turning back into Lycanthropy until Stibnite arrives and breaks him out of the shield that's healing him. He calls for the help of fellow corrupts when he feels the corruption slipping, however, so it wasn't a voluntary reformation anyway.

* AWolfInSheepsClothing. Dub takes the form of an innocent flower with the intent of corrupting shapes more easily.

* BattleInTheCenterOfTheMind: Cubic introduces himself in Cube's dream as the latter's virus and uses his claw to hold Cube against a wall. He escapes the grip and lifts Cubic by the shirt, but just before he can land a punch, the screen [[SmashToBlack cuts to black]], with someone calling Cube's name. He wakes up to find that he accidentally attacked Cyan in his sleep, much to his horror.

* DetachmentCombat: Dub detaches his arms which tunnel their way through mountains and into the river to spread the corruption.

** Cyan sometimes has visions of corrupt shapes before meeting them in person. In episode 1, he sees Dub as he was trying to sleep, then the following morning, he and Cube go to the monster to find that the seal holding him had weakened over time. In episode 6, Cyan has visions of Ajaceare, which warns him that the hostile cube his friends were going after is a monster.
** Cube confronts his corrupted form, Cubic, in a dream, but even after he's [[EnemyWithout revived outside Cube's body]], Cubic shows up in his dream to tell him that he's out and about to find and destroy his friends.

* EvenEvilHasLovedOnes: Dub is said to have been close to his friend Baraccuda, who made the virus while Dub configured how to spread it. After his death, Dub wishes to fulfil their evil plan for his sake.

** Episode 3 starts from Cube's eyes as he wakes up, the vision being blurry at first before he blinks and finds himself in the forest.

* FloatingLimbs: While shapes can assume a form with a humanoid body, only the ones who wear sleeves appear to have arms. Hands are otherwise just smaller squares or circles that float nearby.

* InTheHood: When Ajaceare has her hood up, her single eye is concealed unless she's using her powers.

* MadEye: Dub's upgraded form has two eyes, one of which is larger than the other and pulsates in a twitching manner.

* MomentKiller: In episode 7, Pentellow and Iris share a kiss. Cube says "Aww" as he spectates them from the above bunk, interrupting the couple's bonding moment.

* NightmareFace: Downplayed for Iris. He can make [[TwoFaced half of his face]] or all of it turn a darker shade of plum, which gives him BlackEyesOfCrazy as he grins maniacally.

* OddNameOut: Zigzagged. Compared to the other heroes' colored names like Cyan, Orange and Gold, the name of a green gemstone Tsavorite sticks out most. However, later episodes call him Green.

* SpikesOfVillainy: Dub dons a jagged scarf and cloak, pointy shoulder pieces and spiky hair. His arms consist of spiked rotating circles and his default mouth has triangles for teeth. His upgraded form flares out the points even more.

* StumbledIntoThePlot: Implied. Instead of being given the job like in ''Pink Corruption'', Cube happens upon Cyan in the woods, rescues him, and then is appointed as caretaker through a call by Pyrahedron because Cube had the new hero in his care.

''The Pink Corruption'' (or simply ''Pink Corruption'') is a fan-animated series of ''VideoGame/JustShapesAndBeats''. It is originally made and animated by Brittany Robinson (formerly known as Lucas The Dubber) and uploaded on her sister's channel, Breabear[=/=]Breeoni Jones, who she co-owned the series with.

Cyan is the newest hero made by the Tree of Life, and Cube is appointed as his new caretaker. However, their attempt to reseal the monster Dub goes awry, and he succeeds in setting [[TitleDrop the Pink Corruption]] loose on Paradise again before escaping. * AffectionateNickname: Iris affectionately calls Pentellow "Lemon Pie", while she calls him "Grape Jam" in return. ** When infected by TheCorruption, Cube gets a MadEye which looks like a black gear with a pink or blue centre, and his corrupted form Cubic bears this eye more often, sometimes as both of his eyes.
* BlankWhiteEyes: By default, shapes have entirely black eyes, but when overcome by fear or shock, one's eyes become white circles with black outlines instead.

* BloodKnight: Downplayed. Iris is the quickest to jump into action, sometimes appearing eager to fight with a wide smile as he swings his sword.

* CreateYourOwnHero: A half-intentional example. In episode 9, Dub enacts Project C - making a pink hero from corrupted pieces of the Tree of Life, who he names Cyanide. However, after her first outing with Cubic as her caretaker, the latter attacks Cube to reinfect him, and Cyan outcries to Cyanide that heroes are meant to fight Dub's corruption. Cyanide complies to ceasing connections with Dub and tags along with the other heroes instead.

* DetachmentCombat: Dub detaches his arm while imprisoned, and it tunnels its way out of the mountain and into the river to spread the corruption.

* HairReboot: Dub regenerates his hair right after Iris slices it with his sword.

* MalignantPlotTumor: In episode 7, Pentellow brings up that she never knew her biological family. Come episode 8 until 10, beating the corruption starts looking like a side plot, what with the title screen after the ThemeTune being "The Family Search" for those episodes. * WalkOnWater: In Cube's DreamSequence where he confronts the infection in him made manifest as Cubic, they appear to be on platforms surrounded by blue water. When Cubic walks on the water, the liquid and surroundings turn pink, but when Cube escapes his clutches and walks on the water as well to challenge Cubic, they revert to blue.

''The Pink Corruption'' episodes up until the [[https://youtu.be/I9lc2Yuuqr4 beginning of episode 6]] are considered canon to this storyline, occuring prior to the events illustrated in ''Pink Corruption Continued'', according to [=QuadragonX=]. * {{Cliffhanger}}: Cube and Cyan are surrounded by corrupted flowers, and before they can get to the Tree of Life in time, it has turned completely pink, and the pink monster emerges from behind the tree right before the episode stops.

* ReachingBetweenTheLines: Pyrahedron, who's video-calling Cube through Cyan, extends his arm to push Cube's face as he tells him that Cube will be the fourth caretaker of the Tree of Life and to hurry to the tree and be prepared to seal the pink monster.

* BrokenBase: Miscommunication on the creators' side has left fans at odds over which storyline to follow. It was said that the ownership of ''The Pink Corruption'' was given to [=QuadragonX=] by Brittany and Breabear but they still make content and new episodes for it. Some regard Quadragon's ''Pink Corruption Continued'' as canon and the animated episodes after episode 6 as non-canon, but Brittany's new episodes still have their followers.
