    Seika Lamprogue

Formerly Haruyoshi Kuga, the strongest onmyōji in his world, upon his death he performed a spell that let him reincarnate in another world. Now reborn as Seika Lamprogue, he now seeks a happy life in his new world.

  • Affectionate Gesture to the Head: He often shows affection for Yifa by petting her head.
  • Anger Born of Worry: In the Astelia Kingdom arc, he scolds Yifa for freezing during the attack of the guardian dragon when she is capable of defending herself.
  • Anti-Anti-Christ: The Demon emissaries are horrified to discover that their prophesized Demon King who is meant to lead them is actually Seika and he's on the humans' side.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: He's a very polite and benevolent boy at heart. If anyone becomes a danger to him and his friends, however, he will crush them without mercy.
  • The Champion: Amyu is the Hero, while Seika is doing whatever it takes to keep her safe until she becomes known as the strongest in the world. It later gets deconstructed; the Hero can only become the strongest by overcoming powerful enemies, but due to Seika defeating all of the dangerous enemies targeting Amyu himself, she won't reach the power level she needs to become a Hero that can protect the country from the demon army and the country's higher-ups decide it's best to kill Amyu before her very existence starts a war with the demons.
  • Dark Is Not Evil: Downplayed. His black hair and eyes make him stand out in his new world, and many of his summoned ayakashi are very monstruous. He's even revealed to be the current Demon King. While he's very ruthless and devious, Seika is far from evil and only wants to protect friends.
  • Dissonant Serenity: He's able to brutally kill his enemies with a nonchalant smile.
  • Dragon Rider: He can summon a flying Eastern dragon that he sometimes uses as transportation. Later on, he also befriends the Astelia Kingdom's guardian dragon and she allows him to take a ride on her head.
  • Experienced Protagonist: He was already the most powerful onmyōji in his original world, and still has all of his knowledge and powers in his new world.
  • Good Is Not Soft: He brutally murders anyone who tries to harm him and those he cares about. While he may act ruthless and even cruel towards his enemies, he's not heartless and does feel sympathy for the people he kills in painful ways, but he can't afford to be soft when that got him killed in his past life.
  • Guile Hero: Since his lack of cleverness was what lead him to his downfall in his past life, Seika uses very cunning and calculative methods to achieve his goals in his new life.
  • The Lancer: Despite being the main character, he chooses to be this to Amyu, as he claims he has no interest in usurping her role as The Hero, and his carefree, lackadaisical demeanor makes him a foil to her.
  • Lonely Rich Kid: Subverted. Because he's believed to be the son of a mistress, Seika was ignored by his parents, older brothers and most of the servants at the mansion. Despite this, he never felt sad about being isolated because he only wanted to focus on his studies and he had Yifa to keep him company.
  • Maou the Demon King: Unbeknownst to him, he's the current Demon King and the Hero Amyu's destined enemy.
  • Mistaken for Romance: When Seika expresses interest in becoming closer to Amyu, Yifa mistakes Seika's intentions as romantic. Actually, he doesn't have any attraction for Amyu and just wants to help her become the World's Best Warrior.
  • Nephewism: Everyone thinks Blaze Lamprogue is Seika's father, but he's actually Seika's paternal uncle who adopted him.
  • Never Be Hurt Again: In his previous life, he was betrayed by everyone and killed by his favorite student. He doesn't want to trust or get too attached to anyone in his new life in case he's betrayed again.
  • No Social Skills: In both his past and current lives, he dedicated all his time to honing his own skills. When he wants to befriend Amyu, he realizes he has no idea of how to do that because he never made a friend before.
  • Nominal Hero: His only goal in his current life is obtaining happiness for himself, and for that he needs to protect himself and his closest friends from being used and/or killed like he was in his previous life. He's all too willing to mercilessly kill whoever makes themself into an enemy of him and his friends, no matter if they are demons or humans.
  • Oblivious to His Own Description: When he asks Yifa what she wants in a man, she gives him a list of all the good traits that she likes about him. Seika still doesn't get that she's talking about him and just advises to not have such high standards for a partner.
  • Oblivious to Love: Even though Yuki and Amyu directly tell him Yifa has a crush on him, Seika doesn't believe it and continues to think of her as family.
  • One-Man Army: He can annihilate an army of armed soldiers within seconds.
  • Pay Evil unto Evil: He frequently deals with assassins by killing them in gruesome ways, like feeding them to his Ayakashi familiars.
  • Reincarnate in Another World: In his previous life, he was an onmyōji from feudal Japan and when he was killed by his own student, he used a spell to reincarnate in another world.
  • Royal Bastard: He's believed to be the son of the noble Blaze Lamprogue and a mistress. In actuality, his real father is Blaze's brother Gilbert who disappeared in demon territory. Blaze has long suspected Seika's mother was a demoness.
  • Stock Light-Novel Hero: A different take on the archetype. Seika is a Japanese man who got reincarnated in a world of magic, except he wasn't an ordinary person at all; he was the strongest onmyōji in his original world. Since he was already overpowered even before reincarnating, his knowledge and experience with onmyōdō make him the World's Strongest Man... But there's the problem that he doesn't want the title of the strongest because him being too powerful is the whole reason why he was killed in his previous life. Instead, he wants to go under the radar and support the person who is destined to become the other world's Hero.
  • Summon Magic: He has a Pocket Dimension from which he can summon youkai that he tamed in his past life.
  • Vicariously Ambitious: His goal is making Amyu into the World's Best Warrior so he can live peacefully under her shadow.
  • Weaksauce Weakness: His only known weakness is traveling by carriage, as it causes his motion sickness.
  • Wrong Context Magic: He is unable to use normal magic, but he does have exorcism magic from his old world, which operates differently.

Seika's servant.

  • Childhood Friend Romance: She grew up together with Seika at the Lamprogue mansion and has a big crush on him, but it's unrequited because Seika insists she's just like family to him.
  • First Friend: She's the first friend Seika made after reincarnating.
  • Hair of Gold, Heart of Gold: She's a sweet girl with long blonde hair.
  • Happiness in Slavery: She's happy to be nothing more than Seika's servant, as she has a huge crush on him.
  • Hired Help as Family: Yifa is Seika's servant, but Seika thinks of her as family more than any of his blood relatives in his new life because she always treated him kindly and didn't care about his status as an illegitimate child.
  • Meido: From a young age, she worked as a maid at the Lamprogue mansion.
  • Nice Girl: She's very gentle and caring.
  • Ring of Power: Seika gives her a magic item in the form of a ring that helps her have better control over elemental spirits.
  • Single-Target Sexuality: She has no romantic interest in anyone but Seika.
  • Single Woman Seeks Good Man: She loves Seika because he has always been kind, caring and protective of her despite her status as a servant.
  • Undying Loyalty: She is utterly loyal to Seika. This is best exemplified when Cecilio tried to force her to sign a contract that will liberate her from serving Seika, which she ultimately refuses.
  • Uneven Hybrid: She's descended from elves, explaining why she can see and control elemental spirits.
  • Wrong Context Magic: A much more downplayed example compared to Seika, but still present. Yifa has very little magic power, but she gets similar results by commanding elemental spirits.

Eventually, the problems get more complicated because the existence of the Hero threatens the current power balance between humans and demons, so both sides decide it's better for Amyu to die before a war breaks out.
