Subpages cleanup: Complete Monster

Go To

During the investigation of recent hollers in the Complete Monster thread, it's become apparent to the staff that an insular, unfriendly culture has evolved in the Complete Monster and Magnificent Bastard threads that is causing problems.

Specific issues include:

  • Overzealous hollers on tropers who come into the threads without being familiar with all the rules and traditions of the tropes. And when they are familiar with said rules and traditions, they get accused (with little evidence) of being ban evaders.
  • A few tropers in the thread habitually engage in snotty, impolite mini-modding. There are also regular complaints about excessive, offtopic "socializing" posts.
  • Many many thread regulars barely post/edit anywhere else, making the threads look like they are divorced from the rest of TV Tropes.
  • Following that, there are often complaints about the threads and their regulars violating wiki rules, such as on indexing, crosswicking, example context and example categorization. Some folks are working on resolving the issues, but...
  • Often moderator action against thread regulars leads to a lot of participants suddenly showing up in the moderation threads to protest and speak on their behalf, like a clique.

It is not a super high level problem, but it has been going on for years and we cannot ignore it any longer. There will be a thread in Wiki Talk to discuss the problem; in the meantime there is a moratorium on further Complete Monster and Magnificent Bastard example discussion until we have gotten this sorted out.

Update: The new threads have been made and can be found here:

Complete Monster Cleanup Thread

Please see the Frequently Asked Questions and Common Requests List before suggesting any new entries for this trope.

IMPORTANT: To avoid a holler to the mods, please see here for the earliest date a work can be discussed, (usually two weeks from the US release), as well as who's reserved discussion.

When voting, you must specify the candidate(s). No blanket votes (i.e. "[tup] to everyone I missed").

No plagiarism: It's fair to source things, but an effortpost must be your own work and not lifted wholesale from another source.

We don't care what other sites think about a character being a Complete Monster. We judge this trope by our own criteria. Repeatedly attempting to bring up other sites will earn a suspension.

What is the Work

Here you briefly describe the work in question and explain any important setting details. Don't assume that everyone is familiar with the work in question.

Who is the Candidate and What have they Done?

This will be the main portion of the Effort Post. Here you list all of the crimes committed by the candidate. For candidates with longer rap sheets, keep the list to their most important and heinous crimes, we don't need to hear about every time they decide to do something minor or petty.

Do they have any Mitigating Factors or Freudian Excuse?

Here you discuss any potential redeeming or sympathetic features the character has, the character's Freudian Excuse if they have one, as well as any other potential mitigating factors like Offscreen Villainy or questions of moral agency. Try to present these as objectively as possible by presenting any evidence that may support or refute the mitigating factors.

Do they meet the Heinousness Standard?

Here you compare the actions of the Candidate to other character actions in the story in order to determine if they stand out or not. Remember that all characters, not just other villains, contribute to the Heinousness Standard

Final Verdict?

Simply state whether or not you think the character counts or not.

We can just use the one currently at Western Animation:

But, now, you need to know who Saki, The Shredder, really is. He serves no great purpose, he fights no great evil. He is great evil. Any endeavor he undertakes, he does for his own selfish gain.

Of course, then we'll need a new quote for Western Animation. I like either of these:

Enjoy the few seconds of life which remain to you! I will teach you a thousand subtle shades of pain, a hundred ways to die, until I finally lay your lifeless body at my master's table!
Skullmaster, Mighty Max, "The Maxnificent Seven"

You see this? This here little DNA bead comes from a little girl in Riverside, California... didn't like to wash her hands. Took me three whole weeks. And this one: nice lady in Detroit, Motown. Six days flat. Then there's this old guy in Philly. I killed him in 72 hours. Yeah, I'm getting better as I go along, baby, but the problem is I never set a record! Until my man, Frank, that is. I'm gonna take him down in 48 hours! Get my own chapter in the medical books!

If we do a quote swap, I'm... honestly more avid on this one from Drago Bludvist:

Drago Bludvist is a madman, without conscience or mercy, and if he’s built a dragon army, Gods help us all.
Stoick on Drago Bludvist, How to Train Your Dragon 2

This speaks more "Complete Monster" to me than just stuff like threats and gloating, in my opinion... of course, there's also the One-Eye quote if not just for its sheer brutality.

Speaking of quotes.........Since Fok got approved by the thread, I found this precious little quote from him:

Fok: Who were you talking to?
Grace: A stranger. Honestly
Fok: You told him to intervene!?
Grace: Please let them go, you can do whatever you want with me. If you leave now, you still have time...
Fok: Did you think you can win? I never play to lose. I won't kill you, I kill those you love. For the rest of your life...You can remember how your daughter and brother died
Grace: The phone is smashed...I can't reach him anymore...
Fok: If a loved one dies, perhaps you'll do the right thing...
(Fok then tries to shoot's Roy, Grace's brother, while Grace was forced to watch by one of his hencheman)
Grace: Roy! Roy!
(Fok then proceeds to shot Grace's Daughter, Tinker, which missed while Grace was still forced to watch)
Grace: Tinker! No! No...Please! I don't know how to find him! I really don't know how to find him!
(Fok still attempts to shot Grace's Daughter however he got interrupted by phone call)
Fok Tak-nang after finding out Grace contacting a stranger to save her, Connected.

Thoughts on this quote? And since Fok got approved, should his writeup be on Other Media or Film page?

[up][up][up] I think its best to get more candidates before we make a subpage. A subpage should be created if the comic and cartoon examples are so numerous they start taking up a lot of space in those main pages and frankly the subpage would look more impressive if it more then 7 examples. Just hiting 7 examples should not get a franchise a subpage, let's really go through this franchise first and then make a subpage.

Also yes to Kraang Prime.

[up]Alright lets wait for now.

Yeah I think after we've gone through IDW and checked dregg as well as newtriliser we could then make one as then we would have properly looked into it. Right now we haven't quite examined it as much as other franchises, so there are probably other examples, hence a wait is a good idea.

Also couldnt find a picture so a wait is probably a good idea to maybe get a canditate who will make an appropriate page image as the ones we have now don't have that.

He makes his introduction beating Sonic into unconsciousness for him to be imprisoned for six months. In the interlude, Infinite murders the Avatar's helpless friends, only sparing the Avatar so Infinite could relish their fear. He's put Omega out of commission from an early point to the finale; tried to kill Silver thanks to his love for ending heroes and instilling despair; and repeatedly tried to kill Sonic after his escape, only to not go through with it when Sonic is deemed not worth the effort. When the Resistance tried a full-scale assault on Metropolis, Infinite uses the Phantom Ruby to reduce them to even greater shambles. Later, he and Eggman try to trap Sonic in "null space", a void of eternal nothingness, to live out the rest of his days. At the climax, Infinite conjures a virtual sun to drop and burn everyone to death. A raving lunatic of a sadist, Infinite envisioned omnicidal designs even as a lowly thief and stands out for the reasons behind his sadism and hatred for weakness.
  • Ultraman Ginga & Ginga S:
    • Dark Lugiel ("Darkness Demon") is Ginga's Evil Counterpart and dark side. They split because Ginga wanted life to change and evolve naturally, while Lugiel wanted life to remain in stasis, which meant killing and petrifying everyone in existence. To do so, Lugiel started a tremendous war between the heroes and villains of the Ultra Series, with himself leading the charge on the villainous side—only to turn on them and use his Dark Spark to turn everyone on both sides into Spark Dolls. Ultraman Taro was still able to speak, but everyone else was trapped as an immobile tiny statue until Lugiel decided to use their powers for something. Thanks to Ginga, Lugiel lost his own body, so he takes over a woman in Japan and uses his trapped minions to torment the students all over an elementary school. Lugiel had no restraints about throwing them aside when necessary—he kills Alien Icarus, reverting his body to a Spark Doll after Icarus fails and surrenders to the heroes. After Lugiel finally gains enough power to strike directly, he mind rapes dozens of people, inflicting them with such despair that they pass out, while Lugiel feeds on this to restore his own powers. When Ginga attempts to stop him, Lugiel goes for a sucker punch and then tortures a half-powered Ginga until he too loses consciousness. Lugiel is beaten, but comes back in the sequel as Dark Lugiel, returning after his body was restored by Alien Chibu Exceller, and used as a weapon against Ginga and Victory. Lugiel then takes his body back, kills Exceller via a shot to the back, and takes over his new enhanced Vict Lugiel form and preparing to use his powers to turn all of humanity into Spark Dolls. He gleefully gloats that he'd create the ultimate paradise...but it'd only be perfect for himself.
    • The aforementioned Alien Chibu Exceller ("Brain Alien") is a depraved little alien and the source of the conflict in Ginga S. He leads an invasion force to Earth, wrecking an entire city, to get his tentacles on the Victorium Element and resurrect his "Grand Master", Dark Lugiel. To this end, he razes a city with an army of giant robots and monsters. However, Exceller has loyalty to no one but himself, coldly throwing his own subordinates aside when they are no longer of use. He commands his own sentient loyal right-hand woman, Android Zero-One, to self-destruct inside the enemy base because it'd be too inconvenient to teleport her back. He allows Vorst, his other loyal servant, to be killed by the Japanese military, after taking over Vorst's mind and using him like a puppet to attack the main protagonists. As Five King, Exceller took great pleasure in beating and torturing Ultraman Ginga and Victory, pummeling them so badly that they turned to stone and the two giants nearly died for good. After having the benevolent kaiju Shepardon murdered, Exceller gains enough Victorium to resurrect Dark Lugiel as Vict Lugiel. However he did not revive his master's mind; Exceller betrays him as well, using his mechanized body as a puppet before Lugiel comes back on his own. Exceller shows no remorse for any of this, gloating that his many betrayed servants were simply pawns to be used and discarded as he saw fit.
  • Dead by Daylight:
    • Herman "The Doctor" Carter is a Mad Doctor to the worst degree possible. While most killers have some form of tragedy or sympathy in their backstory, The Doctor is notoriously lacking one. He is simply a lunatic that became fascinated with the brain, before becoming drunk on the power human experimentation gave him. His sadistic streak made him notorious among his organization and the most fearful things to his enemies with the constant screaming and crying coming from his lab. He even turned on his mentor and brutally killing him before The Entity took note of him. Even as a Killer, he clearly revels in the misery and madness he causes the survivors. While most of the killers rely on power and strength to claim their victims, The Doctor is the only one who relies on Mind Rape to claim lives. One of the worst killers in the game, even the Entity was impress by him gifting him power to cause more madness.
    • Michael "The Shape" Myers is equally as bad in this horror multiplayer game as he is in the films. One of the ten available killers present, Myers even as a child had always been unnerving. Called the embodiment of evil, Myers only feels relaxed when he kills, and his first victim—when he was only 6 years old—was his sister. He was sent to a mental asylum hopefully to either be cured or forgotten. Unfortunately, he escaped and went on a killing spree in his hometown, Haddonfield. Gaining contact with The Entity after this horrible tragedy was concluded, Myers willingly offered his services to The Entity, helping it claim innocent victims The Entity captured and then molding their souls to become deranged killers. Always having a favorite "toy" among the crowd he hunts, Myers is nothing but a sadistic thing shaped like a human, that is equal to The Doctor in depravity and sheer cruelty in this game of hunt and be hunted.
  • Owlboy: Captain Molstrom is an automaton originally created by the Ancient Owls as a war machine. After the owls inadvertently caused the world’s continents to lift off the planet’s surface and subsequently vanished, Molstrom took control of the other automatons who were left behind, exterminating any who didn’t agree to follow him. In the present, Molstrom is the brutal leader of the Pirates, the remaining automatons who are loyal to him. After retrieving the first of three relics created by the owls, he uses its power to decimate the large capital city of Advent, leaving only a few survivors. When he possesses all three relics, he plots a course to the remaining settlements, which he plans to destroy as well. After getting betrayed by Solus, the young owl who told him of the relics, Molstrom seeks revenge, and even after learning that Solus wanted to use the relics to stop the continents from floating off into space, he makes it clear that he doesn’t care and tries to prevent the heroes from saving the world from destruction.
  • Three Years In Hell: Jack purchases Elisa from a human trafficking organization, and leaves her locked in a room in unhealthy conditions, giving her only the occasional bread and water, for over eighteen months. When she is released, Jack tells her that she is now his slave, and immediately forces her to clean up her own vomit. When his girlfriend, Tammy, who he has caused to be as abusive as himself, points out that Elisa is in no condition to work, he strangles her. After killing another man, he makes Elisa dispose of the corpse. When Elisa begins to hit puberty, Jack decides to make her his Sex Slave, revealing he killed a previous girl for rejecting his advances when she refuses, lying about keeping her head as a trophy. When Elisa gets pregnant, he forces her against her will to have a traumatic abortion, only showing concern for her because he can’t buy a replacement, which ends up leaving Elisa sterile, taking a picture of the aftermath before proudly giving Elisa the aborted fetus. When it is taken from her, Jack coldly tells her he sees her as nothing more than his property, and would have killed her long ago if he didn't enjoy raping her. When he brutally mutilates Tammy, he tries to make Elisa finish her off. This finally causes Elisa to snap and kill him. A sadistic, apathetic, hedonistic sociopath who doesn't see himself as in the wrong even once, Jack defines the worst in humanity.
  • T.O.T.: Maximus Slade is a childish, sadistic werewolf with a love for all things destructive and whatever he deems "fun". His evil ways extending back to his childhood of torturing animals and ultimately strangling his best friend to death, Maximus was turned into a werewolf in his teenage years, and has spent all his time since indulging in whatever violent impulses his heart desires. On Halloween night in a small neighborhood, Maximus goes on a rampage, something he implies he has done plenty times before, slaughtering dozens of men, women, and children, devouring parts of their bodies, and littering the streets with their corpses. Along the way, Maximus tries to force a teenager to murder his friends, massacres an entire police station, and decorates trees with children's disemboweled bodies. To make his night extra "fun," Maximus plays a sick game with a group of young friends, culminating in him ripping one's chest open and burning another alive while attempting to force his parents to listen as he dies. Though claiming numerous times to just be having fun and play games, Maximus is nothing but a vile monster who puts his own lust for carnage and killing over the lives of countless innocents.
  • Minecraft fan work Minecraft Endventures: Wrecker takes part in the plundering of the human city following the Enderdragon’s attack. Only interested in killing humans for the Endermaster, Wrecker is perfectly willing to let his superior, Endreai, die in battle against a human to get his position, until he notices the human’s family. Taking them hostage, he forces the human to stand down, then kills them, letting the human live to drown in his sorrow. Leading efforts to kill and devour escaping humans, Wrecker finds and attempts to kill Colin, Red and Porkey, but is driven off by Shadow. Recognizing Shadow’s enderman form, he hides on the endermen's ship before it is hijacked by the heroes and tries to kill Red, but is foiled by Click-Clack and Shadow. Wrecker is promoted to general after Endreai's execution, and leads the endermen in an attack on the human rebels main base. Stealing flint and steel from a human whom he burns alive, Wrecker ignites TNT and destroys the human fortress, slaughtering the rebels afterwards. Recognizing the leader as the same human whose family he had killed, Wrecker kills one of his men for refusing to give him his Endblade before taunting the leader as he handily defeats him. Before he kills him, he reveals his twisted philosophy, that by killing others he becomes stronger. A competent Sociopathic Soldier, Wrecker really stands out as a terrifying villain in an initially light-hearted animation.

@ACW Fok's entry looks decent...Should he go to Other Media or Film category?

Also, for pothole part, Would love you to pothole this part: "Fok sets his eye to Roy's sister by knocking her out with his vehicle, ransacking her home, killing her maid and abducting her to an abandoned house in which one of his men destroys the phone." as a Disproportionate Retribution since Fok kidnaps a really wrong person and torture her spirit badly. Also, Thoughts on Fok's quote that I sent to the thread?

"Making screw-ups and mistakes was I ever really good at. Because everything I touch went to hell."

I dunno if any of those images for Sentai or Kamen Rider are really bad enough.

Is there an image of Radiguet killing his Morality Pet? I haven't watched it but I can imagine it being pretty nasty. Of course, kids show, so limits on what can be shown.

Does acw know how to clear up a picture as I might have one for Kamen Rider.

Lem kannangi with a gun to a woman who he kills right after

It wasn't approved last time as it was a bit unclear but if we fix that it will work very well.

Can you stitch it with him actually "killing" her? I think that will help get the point across better.

Doppelganger!Cooper just bluntly says "Goobye my son" when Richard dies then never mentions him again. I don't see it as redeeming considering he put him in danger to check if there was a trap.

@Elfen: It'd go under Film.

@ACW: TOT actually has its own page if you wanna use that instead of the direct story link. Do Connected, Black Dawn, and Carnage Park not have pages yet?

Anyway, Kraang Prime seems to be a unanimous keep, so I'll get the write-up done later today or tomorrow.
