Global Defense Force

    Marshall Stacker Pentecost
  • Big Good: Can be considered this for humanity and most of Terra in general. As the leader of the GDF, he acts as the 'fixed point' about which the rest of the operation can work and steady themselves upon. He's not afraid to have enemy kaiju killed and is willing to do what is necessary to defend the planet, but he tries his best to find the most peaceful option in a world constantly beset by war.
  • The Chains of Commanding: He at times expresses weariness from all the tough decisions he has to make, like the incredibly unpopular choice to authorize firing Dimension Tide.
  • The Chessmaster: Stacker is very clever and can quickly manipulate the situation to fit the ends he desires.
  • Does Not Like Magic: He's very uncomfortable whenever magic is brought up, mostly because he doesn't understand how it works and considers it unpredictable.
  • Reasonable Authority Figure:
    • Rather than outright dismiss the issue, or punish the Langoud team, it was Stacker's decision to split them off from Monarch to allow both teams to work separately and, thus, improve the overall situation for the GDF's research and development divisions.
    • When he's acting as commander during New Era while Aso isn't present, he sets aside anger at Yuji for illegally collecting G-Cells to hear him out about the potential threat of the Millennians and that the new Godzilla is actually Junior, ultimately siding with him.
  • Related in the Adaptation: This version of Pentecost also adopted Miki Saegusa.
  • Spared by the Adaptation: Since Junior wrecked the Rift the first time around and Obsidius buried the facility on the other side in lava the second time, he didn't need to sacrifice himself to get the job done, so he survived this universe's version of Pacific Rim.

    General Douglas Gordon
  • Number Two: Often seen as Pentecost's right hand man.

    Commander Takaki Aso
  • Cool Old Guy: In his 70s now, Aso was a former soldier and founder of the GDF after leading G-Force for over a decade, mentoring the likes of Major Yuki and Stacker Pentecost along the way. Currently retired to the countryside in Hokkaido but still keeps in touch with his successor and carries enough authority he can call him up.
  • Mentor Archetype: To Stacker Pentecost, being the founder of the Global Defense Force and last Commander of its predecessor G-Force.
  • Old Soldier: He was already edging on his 60s when he retired on the eve of the 2000s.
  • Retired Badass
  • Reasonable Authority Figure: He's willing to hear out Yuji Shinoda, even once his illegally collecting Godzilla cells in violation of the law justifiably enrages him, and in general genuinely wants to be a good, fair leader. He's not perfect, however, and does make mistakes driven by his humanistic beliefs back in the 90s into the 200s.

    Azusa Aoki
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/72834e542d95e541af9f0f098a6edf89.jpg
"You've grown up so much.. my little one."

Maiden name "Gojo"
  • Badass Bookworm: A talented biologist.
  • Badass Family: And you wonder where Junior got his Nerves of Steel from?
  • Beware the Nice Ones: She'll clock you in the face if you mess with her kid.
  • Happily Married: It's revealed that after the events of the 1993 movie that she married Nice Guy boyfriend Kazuma Aoki.
  • Motherly Scientist: Was originally just part of the research team that found Godzilla Junior when he was an egg and happened to be the one in the same room as said egg most of the time. After he imprinted on her, she stepped up her role to his primary caretaker.
  • Nerves of Steel: Unflinchingly and defiantly glares back at Trespasser who's about to try and crush her to death. And this is after she intentionally antagonized it into chasing her and not the evacuation ambulances.
  • Parental Substitute: Eventually both she and Junior saw each other as mother and son respectively.
  • Say Your Prayers: When she hears Godzilla Senior's spirit cry out saying how Godzilla Junior and Xenilla are in mortal danger trying to stop Grand King Ghidorah, she, helpless to do anything else, drops to her knees and prays for her adoptive son.
  • Small Role, Big Impact: To a world filled with mechas, kaiju, and psychic humans; one would think an unassuming biologist from Kyoto wouldn't be too important. But by merit for being the muggle foster mother to someone who would go on to be one of the most powerful kaiju of all time, she's probably the main reason Godzilla Junior ended up as the heroic Big Good and not an Eldritch Abomination. Her brief time in Equestria talking to Junior is one of the single most important moments in the story, as it's the nail between the current timeline and Empress Flurry Heart's Bad Future.
  • Team Mom: According to Humanity's Stand, she serves as one to several members of the Global Defense Force.
  • Unexpected Character: Thanks to a future version of Flurry Heart, she got to visit Equestria for a day to help her son.

    Miki Saegusa

  • Action Girl: She was present at the battle at the beginning of the story proper piloting a mech. She also lead the fight against Gabara the Ancient.
  • Half-Human Hybrid: As per the change in canon regarding the origin of the psychics, her father was Mysterian Xilian and her mother was human.
  • Happily Adopted: In this universe, Stacker Pentecost adopted her in addition to his canon adopted daughter Mako Mori.
  • Mind over Matter: She's a very skilled and powerful telekinetic.
    Nick Tatopoulos

  • Fatherly Scientist: Helped raise Zilla Jr., who considers him his father.
  • Papa Wolf: Although a mere human, he bravely sails to assist his adopted son in fights with enemy Kaiju.

    Biologist 023

  • Adaptational Heroism: The Mysterian Leader in the 1957 film was a trecherous alien conqueror from an imperialist race. Here, 023 was the leader of a desperate band of refugees running away from Ghidorah who had no choice but to attack Terra. After his defeat, he gradually went through a Heel–Face Turn.
  • Dying Moment of Awesome: Died ticking off Xilian Controller off, declaring himself Terran, telling Miki he loved her and her late mother; and promptly told the Controller to go to Hell. He was shot and martyred on live television, which spurred the Mysterians to fully throw their lot in with humanity by showing them the Controller was a psychotic maniac.
  • Heel–Face Turn: He went from a conquering alien attacker, to actively working with humanity. By 2004, he was a well respected figure in the Global Defense Force.
  • Posthumous Character: He was killed in Final Wars, meaning any stories taking place after 2004 such as The Bridge proper occur after his death.
  • Science Hero: As his name implies, he was the leader of the Mysterians and later a respected authority in the Global Defense Force while being a biologist by training.
    Yuji Shinoda
    Io Shinoda

  • A Girl and Her X: An 8 year old girl and her toddler aged, couch sized dinosaur. She and the infant Godzilla Junior were playmates.
  • Childhood Friends: Was Godzilla Junior's first friend as he was her's, having been children when they met at Kyoto's Biotechnic's institute.
  • Half-Human Hybrid: Her father, Yugi Shinoda, is human. Her mother Asuka was a Mysterian Xilian.
  • Invisibility Cloak: Of sorts. She can psychically project an image of a wall behind her in front of herself within the mind of someone, creating this effect.
  • Interspecies Friendship: She's a Mysterian-Human hybrid and her first friend was Godzilla Junior.
  • Missing Mom: Her mother, Asuka Shinoda, died in childbirth or soon after.
    Yuki Ichinose

Langoud

    Theodore Montague Wylder

  • Gadgeteer Genius: The head engineer of the Langoud team, who was the driving force behind understanding Magicite and creating the Magicite reactor. He also has a company called Knightmare Industries specializing in technology.
  • Magic Knight: He's one of the few remaining magic users on the planet, and very powerful on top of being a Cyborg quite capable of physical combat.
  • Normal Fish in a Tiny Pond: Theo is a battle mage and very competent, but he's still a modern magic user. He only seems as magically powerful as he is because there's only a handful of actual mages presently alive on Terra. By Pre-Toba standards, he's not all that strong. Part of this is that there's so little mana left after the Extinction Hour and faded more with time.
  • Shock and Awe: He seems to be partial to electrical magic.
    Joanne Johnson/Wylder

  • Absent-Minded Professor: She often loses her train of thought when trying to explain her work.
  • ArchEnemy: Dr. Jane Tiptree is stated to be hers.
  • Omnidisciplinary Scientist: Played with. She's part of what seems to be a fairly big team of specialists, but as their leader she's had to learn enough of their fields to be able to understand what they're talking about. Her actual specialty is Genetic Engineering.

    Tori Regalia Wylder

  • The Archmage: Tori is the most powerful Post-Toba magic user alive. While she's much weaker than the Shobijin, she's still very powerful.
  • Expy: Her name and appearance are intentional references to Toriel Dreemurr.
  • The Fair Folk: Word of God is that she's a very old Glaistig, a type of goat-like humanoid Faerie.
  • Healing Hands: One of her specialties is healing magic.
  • Muggle Foster Parents: Inverted, She's an old Fae, whereas her son, Theodore, is a human.
  • Normal Fish in a Tiny Pond: Tori is the strongest Post-Toba magic user currently alive, and was still very powerful in her day. However, she's not as powerful as a Pre-Toba magic user back when magic was common, nor can she be, due to mana being so low in the modern day.
  • Playing with Fire: Her other specialty is fire magic.
  • Team Mom: Serves as one for the Langoud crew.

Other Enemies

Dr. Jane Tiptree

  • Adaptational Badass: A combination of her being changed to a Xilian hybrid and her genetic alterations have made her far more dangerous and deadly than she ever was in canon. She's capable of ripping an entire armed security team to shreds with her bare hands without even trying.
  • Adaptational Species Change: She is an Xilian - Human hybrid in this canon, instead of a normal human.
  • Archenemy: She's stated to be this to Joanne Johnson and the Wylders in general.
  • Composite Character: Of both her canon self and many Syfy Channel Original movie mad scientists.
  • Greater-Scope Villain: She's the creator or otherwise responsible for a multitude of smaller scale monster rampage films in the Amalgam'Verse.
  • Impaled with Extreme Prejudice: During her escape, she kills a Jericho Private security member by impaling them to a door with their own gun.
  • Mad Scientist: As anyone who's seen Carnosaur can tell you. Over more so, as she's effectively the mad scientist in a lot of Syfy Channel Original movies in this universe. She also made all of the BioSyn dinosaurs and was their chief geneticist.
  • Misanthrope Supreme: She tried to wipe out humanity with a retrovirus that also spawned man-eating dinosaurs. She then went on to release numerous genetic horrors later on.
  • The Sociopath: She's outright described as one in her profile, and checks all the boxes.
  • Super-Strength: As a physical enhancement type hybrid like Ozaki, she is far stronger than she looks.
  • Spared by the Adaptation: Survives the events of ''Carnosaur' and goes on to become a major human scale villain.

Aliens (Heroic)

    Ultraman Noa/King

  • Composite Character: As the name implies, this continuity has it where he was originally known as Noa before becoming the King of the Land of Light.
  • World's Strongest Man: He rivals Grand King Ghidorah in power, making him one of the strongest mortals in the galaxy. With Empera nowhere to be found and Grand King Ghidorah in another universe and now dead, he's now this trope in earnest.

    Zone Fighter I

  • Authority Equals Asskicking: He's one of the highest powers in the Land of Light, and powerful enough to curbstomp a robot that was beating the stuffing out of Belial.
  • The Mentor: He's this for Ken, Marie, and Belial.
  • Precursor Heroes: He's the father of the canonical Zone Fighter from the show, as well as Zone Angel and their little brother.

    Ultraman Ken
  • Future Badass: Father of Ultra, years back when he was still a young peacekeeper.
  • Took a Level in Badass: Paradise Lost shows he wasn't always so mature and confident, but came into his own during Empera's attack.
  • We Used to Be Friends: Was on a trio team with Belial before he turned evil.

    Ultrawoman Marie

    Ultrawoman Corona
  • All-Loving Hero: Despite how cruel the race had become lately, she still tries to protect the Xilians from Belial.
  • Always Someone Better: Corona is respectably powerful for an ultra, but unfortunately Belial is much stronger, armed, and far more experienced.
  • Bioluminescence Is Cool: Her blood equivalent looks like liquid light.
  • The Cape: Being an Ultra, this is to be expected. She even shows compassion to the Xilians and actively tries to save their lives despite how wicked their race had become recently.
  • Female Angel, Male Demon: She's a heroine and is introduced alongside the very vile Belial. Furthering the comparison she emits jets of light from her back during an attack that look like angel wings.
  • Fusion Dance: Power booster variety. Unwillingly so, when her dying brother Ultraman Stratos gave her all his remaining power. It bolstered her abilities and gave her blue accents on her red body.
  • Healing Shiv: Her energy blasts injure evildoers, but heal the good. The fact they heal Monster X is significant.
  • It's Personal: Belial's murder of her brother, Ultraman Stratos, drives her to attack him alone before back-up can arrive.
  • Power Gives You Wings: Concentrating all her power into a final blast causes jets of light resembling wings to shoot out of her back. She could already fly though.
  • Purple Is Powerful: Originally a Red Ultra, she turned purple after the power transfer from her dying blue brother.
  • Redemption Rejection: Tries to free Monster X from enslavement under the Xilians after realizing he's a good soul deep down, even breaking into Asteroid Gorath to talk to him; but he smacks her hand away and rejects the offer out of loyalty.
  • Taking the Bullet: Took a energy cannon blast through the gut to keep it from hurting a crowd of Xilians.

Aliens (Enemies)

    Ultraman Belial
"The galaxy isn’t filled with heroes, only fools and monsters."

  • The Ace: Was this of the Ultra race before his lust for power turned him down a dark path. He's still very much this trope despite his fall, managing to nearly kill Monster X, and might actually have succeeded if it weren't for Ultrawoman Corona.
  • Broken Ace: During his Peacekeeper days, he suffered under negligence abuse. The resulting psychological issues from this have damaged his social life to the point that Ken & Marie were his only real friends. And he's such a career soldier that he struggles imagining a life outside of it. This is all before he started turning evil.
  • Card-Carrying Villain: Openly refers to himself as a monster, though justified as his worldview is that there are only monsters and fools that refuse to be monsters.
  • Doomed by Canon: Obviously, no matter what happens in Paradise Lost, he ends up becoming the Satanic Archetype he is now.
  • Evil Cannot Comprehend Good: He can't comprehend why his species fights for good instead of only their own benefit.
  • Evil Counterpart: To Monster X. They both started as normal men given incredible power and grown to kaiju size and were some of the strongest of their races. But whereas X kept his morals, even when forced to act as a living weapon by his people; Belial willingly turned on his race and sought power just for the sake of it.
  • Fallen Hero: A former Ultra hero before falling to evil due to his power lust. He used to be a genuinely heroic person, but something happened that turned him into the monster he is.
  • A God Am I: Declares that the Ultra race should have ruled over all the lesser races as gods. Since they refuse, he will be the god.
  • No-Sell: Completely shrugs off X's Gravity Beams due to having great beam resistance even by Ultra standards.
  • Origins Episode: Paradise Lost acts as one for him, showing him as a young, flawed, but heroic Ultra.
  • The Paragon Always Rebels: Is described as the best and brightest of the Ultras before turning evil.
  • Protagonist Journey to Villain: Paradise Lost is his journey from being a promising young Ultra and hero to the Satanic Archtype and Fallen Hero he is later on.
  • Red and Black and Evil All Over: Naturally.
  • Rogues' Gallery Transplant: Arc villain for the Ultraman franchise in the source material. Here, while he does fight other Ultra, he's faced off against Monster X.
  • Sealed Evil in a Can: Was imprisoned by Ultraman King long ago, but escaped a hundred years ago. He's imprisoned again after being defeated by Corona and Monster X.
  • Swiss-Army Weapon: The Giga Nizer Staff functions as both a staff, club, and powerful energy cannon.
    Empera

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ultraman_empera_1_6.png
No. More. Dawns.

    Faust

  • Co-Dragons: He's one of the Four Heavenly Kings that are Empera's second-in-commands.
  • I Fight for the Strongest Side!: He fights for the strongest leader. He joined Empera after the Emperor killed his queen.
  • Named by the Adaptation: In canon, he's only called by his species name, Alien Mefilas. Here his personal name is revealed to be Faust.
    Grozam

  • An Ice Person: He's an extremely powerful ice elemental.
  • Blood Knight: Because Victory Is Boring and nothing has posed a meaningful challenge to him in a very long time, Grozam relishes the possibility of an actual fight that challenges him. He's one of the few to be excited to fight Grand King Ghidorah once he realizes how powerful the King of Terror is, starting to laugh despite his apathetic nature.
  • Co-Dragons: He's one of the Four Heavenly Kings that are Empera's second-in-commands.
  • Fusion Dance: He's the result of countless members of his species forming an ocean instead of refreezing and being reborn, making him essentially mass Groza fusion. The end result is the largest and most powerful Groza to ever exist.
  • Genius Bruiser: Despite his apathetic, lazy personality, he's actually extremely intelligent. He considered learning the galactic language from some invaders' computers an 'amusing distraction.' He's so apathetic and bored because he studied and learned everything he was physically capable of.
  • I Am Not Left-Handed: During the Kings' battle with Grand King Ghidorah, he begins laughing and he begins to power up, his allies unable to stand near him due to the intense cold he began to project. He stops once Empera interupts the fight, but Genoa was shocked to realize Grozam had been holding back the entire time.
  • Meaningful Name: His name is only one letter different than his species name, Groza. This is because as a mass gestalt of countless Groza merged into one, effectively stands in for the species as a whole.
  • Nigh-Invulnerable: He can reform no matter what damage he takes due to his species' biology and him being ridiculously strong even by their standards. Notably, even when he was actively trying to kill himself due to having gotten completely bored with existence, he ran out of ways to try and simply accepted he couldn't die.
  • One-Man Army: His existence singlehandedly and decisively ended the Forever War on his home planet between the Groza and a species of fire elemental giants. He's also implied he's defeated several invasions all on his own.
  • Person of Mass Destruction: He froze his homeplanet down to the core and was singlehandedly responsible for the extinction of the fire elemental species that once inhabited it.
  • Physical God: His people worship him as a god. Given he's powerful enough to give Empera trouble and was far and away the strongest thing to ever exist on his homeplanet, he's certainly powerful enough to count.
  • Victory Is Boring: Defeated every possible challenge on his homeworld and just kind of...stood there frozen in his palace after getting so bored he had nothing to actually motivate him until Empera came and offered him a chance to find a challenge.
  • World's Strongest Man: He was undoubtedly the most powerful thing to ever exist on his homeworld. Even on a cosmic scale, he's capable of actually giving Empera trouble and it's implied going all out he could've at least posed a challenge to Ghidorah, making him one of the strongest mortal beings in the universe.
    Genoa

  • Adaptation Name Change: In canon he's called Deathrem, here his name is Genoa. This was done due to his canon name only being one letter different than his species name, Deathre.
  • Co-Dragons: He's one of the Four Heavenly Kings that are Empera's second-in-commands.
  • Evil Genius: Serves this role for Empera's empire, being the intelligent one.
  • Klingon Promotion: He gained the position of Heavenly King by killing his predecessor.
  • The Starscream: Seems to have this in mind with Empera. Of course, the first time he tried to actually act on it, Empera put that down quickly.

    Yapool

  • At Least I Admit It: Yapool is a sadistic, evil monster, and fully aware of that fact. He looks down on Empera for trying to justify his actions and flat out tells him the real reason he does what he does is like Yapool, he likes killing people.
  • Card-Carrying Villain: Yapool is a complete sadistic monster and knows it. He looks down on Empera for trying to justify his actions.
  • Co-Dragons: He's one of the Four Heavenly Kings that are Empera's second-in-commands. Only in name, however, as Yapool is largely only acting on his own agenda, he just finds Empera and his goals amusing. Empera is well aware he has no actual control over Yapool, but Yapool is still useful to him.
  • Eldritch Abomination: His nature as one is highlighted, being an extra dimensional, Hive Mind entity capable of warping reality.
  • Fighting a Shadow: He uses his Choju as bodies, and one of them being killed does next to nothing to meaningfully effect him.
  • For the Evulz: Yapool is a sadistic psychopath who enjoys causing pain in the most horrific ways he possibly can.
  • Hive Mind: Yapool is a hive mind entity composed of many smaller entities.
  • Psycho for Hire: He doesn't really give a darn about Empera's desires or intentions, he just loves torturing, experimenting on, and brutally murdering people for his own pleasure.
  • Sir Swears-a-Lot: Yapool is one of the single most foul-mouthed character in the entire Bridge verse, with very few of his lines not containing a cuss word.
  • Sadist: Yapool only has one reason to do what he does: he likes doing it and hates being bored.
  • Token Evil Teammate: While all of the Four Heavenly Kings are evil, the others aren't actively sadistic and do Empera's bidding for their own reasons. Yapool, on the other hand, is a sadistic psychopath who does what he wants because he enjoys it.
    Mugal

  • Old Soldier: He's very well past his prime by the time of Final Wars, though medication and lots of make-up he's forced to take to keep up appearances hide just how ancient he is.
  • Villain Protagonist: He's this for the 'Tales of the Amalgam'verse: The Battle of Mount Erebus' special.
  • Villain Respect:
    • He has a great deal of respect for those whose valor impresses him, even if they're his enemy. He notably has more respect for a single researcher who managed to kill a Simian shock trooper with a forklift than most of the shock troopers who presented taking over a civilian research base as some grad accomplishment, and respects Miki's father's, Biologist 023, screwing over the Xilians in a Dying Moment of Awesome.
    • He comes to respect Anguirus as a Worthy Opponent by the end of their battle, refusing to call him a mere beast anymore, and saluting him after Anguirus destroys Mechagodzilla.
    Kuronuma

  • Hero-Worshipper: Very much this to Mugal, having grown up on a colony world Mugal himself helped establish and joining the military to try and be just like him.
    Millennian/Orga

  • Adaptational Abomination: The Millennians are changed from aliens who'd been sealed under the ocean for untold years to otherworldly abominations driven by a Hive Mind with a great deal of Body Horror among their drones.
  • Big Bad: As the Hive Mind behind the Millennians, it serves as the main antagonist of Godzilla: New Era
  • Fighting a Shadow: All the drones are an extension of the Hive Mind controlled and, as powerul as they are, only cost it biomass. Subverted with Orga, as Millennian put all available biomass into creating its physical form.
  • Hive Mind: Millennian is a hive mind entity, with each drone being connected to the whole and capable of using DNA obtained by other parts of it. This gives Millennian a complete alien worldview. Absorbing Godzilla's DNA ravages' it to the point the hive mind entirely collapses, basically driving it insane.
  • One-Winged Angel: While preferring disguising themselves as unassuming forms, its drones often transform into powerful alien predators when threatened. As in canon, Millennian as a whole becomes Orga in a botched attempt to utilize Godzilla's DNA.
