  1. Tropes for my fanworks:

Examples:

    open/close all folders
    Eva and Cece's Chop Suey
  • Author Avatar - Eva Guinea Pig was modeled to look like the author, with Cece Cat taking on the look of her real life cat. This also goes for other characters, modeled after people the author knows as well as their pets. The author even says she'll use her normal voice for Eva if she ever makes an animation.
  • Bowdlerize - Some elements and plots were actually toned down.
    • In "Demon from the Belly of Eva", the monster was originally supposed to come from Eva's crotch, and constantly cry "Feed me!" as a Shout-Out to Little Shop of Horrors, but was changed to her belly button, and the monster now made constant demands for cake.
    • Knuckles was initially supposed to be more sinister and psychopathic in his appearances, but was then just toned down to a character who bullied others, enjoyed scaring the living daylights out of them (namely Tails, Eva and Cece) and had a dark sense of humor, while being playful, though in a mischievious way, possibly as a nod to his character when he first appeared in Sonic 3.
  • Deranged Animation
  • Lions and Tigers and Humans... Oh, My! - This happens along episode 12.
  • Fanfic Chop Suey - Basically the title, especially when characters from other universes make an appearance. Knuckles the Echidna from the Sonic series has already made at least 5 appearances and Sonic and Tails at least one.
  • Funny Talking Animal - The series is full of this.
  • Fiery Redhead - Knuckles, when he gets to appear on the show. Even bordering on Evil Redhead at times.
  • Nightmare Fuel/High Octane Nightmare Fuel - The episode "The Viper", and Knuckles' rap from "Raising Hell". Ripped straight from Scary Movie, might I add.
    • Heck, when an episode where Knuckles is involved can be counted, as his personality was changed to a bully who likes to scare people. This was inspired by another artist's rendition of him, though toned down in this series. A few Nightmare Faces are thrown here and there on occasion.
    • The episode, Demon From the Belly of Eva, which involved a creature emerging from Eva's belly button that kept demanding cake, was also pretty creepy, even the title card is just freaky looking.
  • Psychotic Smirk/Slasher Smile - Knuckles does this a few times in his appearances when he's up to his mischief.
  • Puppy-Dog Eyes - Olivia's default eyes.
  • Slapstick Knows no Gender
  • Tomboy and Girly Girl - Eva and Cece
    • And Ellie and Eva.
    • Eva seemed to bounce back and fourth between being tomboy to Cece's girlie girl and girlie girl to Ellie's tomboy since she had traits of both.
  • Unexplained Accent - It was up for debate whether Knuckles would speak with a Jamaican accent or not, which was based on another artist's ineterpretation of that character. Traces of it are left in the original drafts, however. Also, several other characters fall into this, Olivia has a Valley Girl accent, Cece has a Texas accent and Benji was said to speak with a Scottish accent.
  • Write Who You Know - As mentioned before, alot of characters were based on the author's family, friends and pets.
    The Lindsay Analougue Show
  • Abuse Is Ok If Its Female On Male - Inverted. Lindsay is abused to death (well, depending on who you're talking to), and it's supposed to be funny, even when a male character is doing it to her.
  • Adult Child - Lindsay acts like this alot. And in later seasons, it's scarily gone through Flanderization to delving deep into Psychopathic Woman Child territory.
  • Alpha Bitch - Victoria Mongoose, who was introduced after season 0. It can be said that Lindsay herself is a parody/wannabe of this.
  • Art Shift - Season 2's art style changed with the departure of the previous artists and the show's designs looked like The Mighty B! (character design) crossed with The Amazing World Of Gumball (backgrounds).
  • Ambiguously Autistic - Lindsay just can't seem to pick up on non-verbal cues and can't seem to know when people want her to stop talking (she also seems to have a tendancy to speak loudly or very fast as well, when she's excited or upset), as well as generally oblivious of how others interpret what she says (which usually leads to conflict). In one episode, when she contends with a witty boxing kangaroo that actually has the condition, it is revealed she doesn't have it herself after all.
  • Attention Whore - The title character of the show, who insists she be the center of attention, No. Matter. What.
  • Asshole Victim - Again, the title character of the show, who gets her comeuppance for her selfish behavior, but doesn't seem to understand and complains for hours, or even days on end about her "unfair treatment"!
  • Big Eater - Title character again. She seems to do this to "fill [a] void" as she is also an emotional eater, as well as being shown eating unusual objects.
  • Bottle Fairy - Lindsay's alcoholism is played over the top for comedic effect.
  • Break the Haughty - Happens to Lindsay frequently, only for her to not learn anything and go back to her snobbish self.
  • Brain Bleach - Seems to be what people need after seeing Lindsay naked.
  • Bratty Half-Pint - Allison. And Bradley, Depending on the Writer.
  • Chuck Cunningham Syndrome - Several characters that made frequent appearances in the first season, which happened along season three, which include Phil, Brad, Lindsay's brother and sisters, and Lindsay's only two real friends, Twister and Ryu.
  • Bullying a Dragon - Lindsay imposses self-proclaimed authority on others, who clearly know she has none. Painful (litteraly) hilarity insues. This is also done by her evil carbon copy Rin Euguolana, who stubbornly refuses to give up tormenting others, despite how much more powerful they are than her.
  • Butt-Monkey - The epynomous character, who sort of brings it on herself.
  • The Cassandra - Lindsay, even so when she's being Cassandra Truth (one example was that she did tell the truth about how she purpousley got kicked out of the WP Cult due to not wanting the members to take her back, only to regret it, and a kangaroo scoffs at her. She is so impractical in her nature that even when she tells the truth, it isn't believable).
  • Closet Geek - Lindsay takes an intrest in quite some geeky things, such as video games and/or anime, which she is terrified of revealing when first meeting someone. Ask her about this, and she readily denies it.
  • Cross-Dressing Voices - Breckin Meyer as Lindsay starting from season 3.
  • Deadpan Snarker - Victoria, Allison. Many characters also get into this. Though when Lindsay tries, she usually fails to get the upper hand in squabbles. Many say that Lindsay has her moments, but tell her this and she denies it (she does so due to the acknowledgement of her own failire at being able to pwn others as they so often do to her).
  • Deranged Animation - Season 2. In which the character designs start to resemble John Kricfalusi's style.
  • Designated Hero - Most evident in the video game.
  • Disproportionate Retribution - Other characters physically attack Lindsay, often in savage, brutal ways, simply because they find her annoying, and Lindsay's plans of revenge against others usually involve this.
  • The Ditz - Lindsay is often portrayed this way.
  • Double Standard - Most characters can get away with being jerks except for Lindsay. One example had her saying something suggestive about Victoria, (claiming she just wanted to "fit in"), only to have her being chased out of the room. When Victoria did this, she recieved no such reaction.
  • Enfant Terrible - Allison Kane
  • Evil Twin - Lindsay's started appearing in "Split Personality".
  • Grossout Show
  • Hollywood Pudgy - Paired with Hollywood Homely,
    • Lindsay is only slightly overweight, but everyone treats her as if she's as big as a cow and also, if she's the ugliest thing that ever lived. But the author insists on drawing her fat and gross as a sight gag.
  • Idiot Plot - Though this is supposed to be where the humor comes from. For example, a season two episode revolved around Lindsay spending almost the entire episode trying to catch the flu.
  • It's All About Me - The premise of the show and Lindsay's total attitude.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold - Lindsay can be seen this way, especially to her few close friends. Nobody else seems to care about her kind side, so they use this as a chance to nail her to get back at her for inconsiderate things she did/said to them.
Twister: You know you gotta care sometimes! *hugs Lindsay*
  • Killed Off for Real - Rin Euguolana after her first appearance, where it is revealed she was killed after crashing a truck she stole. the latter appearances were Lindsay in dark versions of her clothes and body paint.
  • Large Ham - The title character.
  • Lack of Empathy - Lindsay to other characters, as she treats her own problems, regardless of how minor they are to be more superior to the problems of others. Also, almost the wst is this way to
  • Meaningful Name - Lindsay Analougue, who is somewhat based on the author, has red hair and a drinking problem.
  • Minor Insult Meltdown - In earlier seasons, Lindsay was prone to having these. Especially followed by:
  • Ocular Gushers
  • Put on a Bus - Several characters, such as Lindsay's older sister, whom is said to have moved away, her younger brother, who only gets limited to no appearances, and Lindsay's old boyfriend, Todd.
  • Rape as Comedy
  • Sadist Show
  • Self-Deprecation - The show and more, the title character as an author avatar, runs on this.
  • Slapstick Knows no Gender - Mostly Lindsay.
  • Shout Out! - Many, due to at times the story being basically Fan Fic Chop Suey.
  • Sympathetic Sue - Parodied, subverted and played for laughs.
  • The Other Darrin - After season 1, many of the voice actors were replaced, such as Rebecca Soler to Nicole Sullivan as Victoria, Wayne Grayson to Eric Bazua as Phil, Amanda Brown to Jeremy Shada as Brad, and Carrie Savage to the series' creator as Lindsay. In season 3, it was announced Lindsay's voice will change again and be performed by Breckin Meyer.
  • Tomboy and Girly Girl - Victoria and Allison, with Lindsay being somewhere in the middle.
  • Unintentionally Sympathetic - The main character was made by the author to be as unlikeable as possible, though some fans actually admitted to feeling sorry for her.
  • Vomit Indescretion Shot
  • Written-In Absence - Lindsay mentions she attempted to murder her friends Twister and Ryu when they went on a challenge, by pushing them off a cliff, so she wouldn't have to share the cash prize with them. Also, in the first episode of season 3, it will be mentioned that Phil doesn't show up anymore because he moved away.
  • Would Hit a Girl - Even male characters have beaten up Lindsay.
  • You're Insane! - A typical reaction a character has to Lindsay's hare-brained schemes.
    Other Land
A story first written in 2008. It contains characters from Alvin And The Chipmunks. Three installments are planned to be written with the third slated to be finished in late 2011.
  • Acid Pool - Martina attempts to lower the Chipmunks and the Chipettes into one of these in the second installment. In the North American version, the contents of the giant vat are unidentified.
  • All Men Are Perverts - Most of the human men, including Martha's unwanted admirers are portrayed in this light, this is also part of Martina's speech to Martha in the second installment, which heavily emphasises Silly Rabbit, Romance is For Kids!.
  • Anthropomorphic Shift - The Chipmunk characters started out in the stories looking like Anime-esque versions of their Millenial forms. In the third installment, the author announces that they will revert to their older counterpart designs at one point.
  • Acquired Situational Narcissism - Martha, apparently, in the first installment. It starts to wane (though gradually) as the series goes on. Martina appears to retain this trait in her primordial form, which is the base for her villanous role in the previous ones.
  • Bad Future - In the third installment.
  • Becoming the Mask - Martha in her primary form starts becoming more like the owner of the mansion the more she visits, since she thinks a life of glamor and luxury and accepting the oggling eyes that catch hers, causing her conceit to grow, which makes sense since Martina is Martha from an alternate future. Though she is offended when one of her admirers, who is revealed to be a former classmate of hers, tries to use her.
  • BFG - Simon had one of these, well actually, a grappling gun.
  • Brats with Slingshots - Also giving to his personality, Alvin's weapon is a slingshot.
  • Break the Cutie - What happens to Martha towards end of the story. Afterwards, she is convinced her "eyes are open for the first time" and even states frequently that she doesn't want to be fixed.
    • Though, there are some Break the Haughty moments, due to the Acquired Situational Narcissism listed above. And to Martina in the third.
  • Corrupt the Cutie
  • Creator Breakdown - The stories seem to run on this. The trials and tribulations of she went through in her home life, including cutting ties with old friends she ceased to like, physical violence she endured from certain family members are reflected in Martha's thoughts (though this can be seen early in the story). Martha started developing Cerebus Syndrome at some point in the story, and developed a cynical attitude such as things like family unity, diplomacy and true love, which was taken to bigger extremes in Martina. The author even states that Martina Love in the third installment mirrors her more than Martha of the good alternate universe. The author also said that the bad ending, included in the fictuous video game, would be the true ending, but countered it and made the good ending come on top, since it would be unfitting for the series to end in the former.
  • Cute Monster Girl - YMMV Sadie, though she is an antagonistic character.
  • Deadpan Snarker - Simon (of course, keeping up with his canon traits), Alvin has his moments (also keeping up with his canon traits). Melvin, Alvin's dark counterpart, though not as deadpan as any other characters. Sadie. Martha's brother and sister are heavily implied to be this - especially to her - as evidenced by how she describes them.
  • Dumb Blonde - Laura, Eloise. Though Eloise fits The Ditz role more.
  • Emo Teen - Martha, in the first installment, while swinging between this and Bratty Teenage Daughter after her visits to the mansion, but she gets better.
  • Enfant Terrible - The Darkmunks and Darkettes. Who are later revealed to not be children at all.
  • Evil Is Sexy - Martina Love.
  • Evil Redhead - Whitney the Darkette.
  • Evil Twin - The Chipmunks and Chipettes had these in the form of The Imposter/DarkMunks/Ettes.
  • Family-Unfriendly Aesop - Laura, upon hearing Martha has turned 18, is more than estatic to take her shopping for new clothes, all of them happening to be [[Stripperiffic skimpy and revealing]]. In the second installment, flashbacks are shown with Martha and her encounter with one of her rejected admirers, who texts and calls her constantly, and one message says "You're old enough, so you're allowed to do things like that." And seeming to be unphazed about Martha's discomfort, reinfocring the All Men Are Perverts trope.
  • Girly Run - Martha and Martina, most noticable in the video games. This also applies to Brittany and Jeanette and to a lesser extent, Eleanor in their humanoid forms.
  • Getting Crap Past the Radar - There are many examples, but notably, the Chipettes in burlesque outfits in the second installment. In the third, once scene shows Martina is clearly drunk, and just how did Martha's sexy table dance in the first get past?
  • He Who Must Not Be Seen - Martha's mother, brother and sister. As well as some people she mentions she used to be friends with. Though her brother and sister's voices have been heard, her brother's face is then shown in a framed picture in her house in the second installment (before then, he was only seen from the shoulders down), and her sister is finally shown on screen near the climax of the story.

  • Heroic BSoD
  • Heroic Sacrifice - Plans for the third installment include Martina risking her life for Simon's and pushing him out of the way of a moving train/vehicle.
  • Jade-Colored Glasses - Martina, evident in the third installment. And also, Martha towards the end of the first installment.
  • Jerkass Woobie - Definatley Martina in the third installment.
  • The Lad-ettes - The Darkettes.
  • Manipulative Bitch/Bastard - Sadie, Martina. Melvin. Also, Martha's human male admirers are depicted as this, though not with the same intent as the former three.
  • Meta Fiction - The original premise, but dropped.
  • Ms. Fanservice/Fetish Fuel Station Attendant - Martina, and secondarily, Martha.
  • Mood Whiplash - Especially in the second one, where it's lighthearted at the start, but gets somber and pretty dark towards the end. The third one is said to go in this direction as well. Heck, even the first one got pretty dark towards the later middle.
  • Nightmare Fuel - Some scenes, a few Nightmare Faces from Melvin, and certain tracks in the OST, especially video game's soundtrack, that has a few tracks that are quite horrifying. In some cases, it could be High Octane Nightmare Fuel. The author states she wants certain elements to give younger/more easily scared kids nightmares.
  • Ooh, Me Accent's Slipping - Happens a few times with Seymour.
  • Playing to the Fetishes - This wasn't the original intent, but started after the author's 18th birthday.
  • Paper-Thin Disguise - Although not meant to be a disguise to fool an enemy, Martha's alias as "Martina Love" is not used by Simon in the third installment when he is with her, and still calls her "Martha", even going as far to say "It's obvious you're still you," whenever she insists on being called by her alias. Though this was probably just to render her back to who she once was.
  • Pink Means Feminine - The reason why Martha's hair color is pink. Another reason being the Rose Haired Girl listing below.
    • Spank the Cutie - Martina administers one to Martha during Teacher-Student roleplay in the fantasy sequence. Retained in the manga, however, the whole scene that contained this was cut from the Right Stuf edit.
  • Real Life Writes the Plot - Some of the events in the story actually happened to the author.
  • Rose Haired Girl - This was done after one person read the article written about the story and called the author on her exploitation of her family and friends. The main character's hair was then changed from chestnut to coral pink.
  • Screw Yourself - Martina sexually assaults Martha in the second installment.
  • Slipknot Ponytail - Martha in the third installment.
  • Tomboyish Ponytail - Also Martha in the third installment.
  • "The Reason You Suck" Speech - Simon gives one to Martha after she blows him and Theodore off in their mission to rescue Alvin. Martha does attempt to fire back, though despite feeling and knowing he has a point.
  • Vomit Indescretion Shot - In the Manga. Changed to Vomit Descretion Shots in the anime. Though there's not many instances of either. One discretion shot was even cut from the third installment, though to hide obvious traces of Martina's alcoholism.
  • Would Hit a Girl - Martha's brother and Alvin's evil counterpart, who attacks Martha without any hesitation.
    Terrible Luck Saga
A Sonic the Hedgehog Fanfiction first written back in 2005.
  • Alpha Bitch - Caterina Diff
  • Big Bad - In this story, Lerich is a new villain introduced.
  • Cat Girl - Katy in The Final Call.
  • Creator Breakdown - The series started out this way. The author, then 14, was transferring schools. Upset and thinking she'd never see her friends again, she went on to write this story, which was supposed to have the characters being tortured and miserable. As of later chapters, this standard is lifted slightly. In the initial concept, the villain was based on her English teacher, whom she thought of as unfair. Later, she realized the teacher wasn't so bad deep down and was probably frustrated and embittered with disobedient students for years, so then she removed the villain's glasses, (which can be seen in earlier artwork) and changed the his name to Amir, the name of another student that was bothering her and her friends. After she decided to share the story with people outiside of those she knew, she changed his name once more to Lerich, a name she made up.
  • Curse Cut Short
    Knuckles: Son of a- *whap*
  • Darker and Edgier - The whole premise and initial purpouse, but Your Mileage May Vary.
  • Development Hell - The first chapter was written and finished in 2005. The author wrote it as an experimental and wasn't sure if she'd continue it. After it proved well enough, she went on to write more chapters, but with great delay, as the first one is still the only complete one to this day. It is revealed that some other chapters are currently being written, but out of order in select segments.
  • Disney Death Knuckles in Tangled Troubles when he is assumed dead after being the last one to escape a burning building, He returns unharmed, much to the surprise of the other characters.
  • Does Not Like Shoes - The half-demon girl Doren never wears any.
  • Emo Teen - Doren.
  • Hannibal Lecture
  • Killed Off for Real - Several secondary characters.
  • Obligatory Swearing - Was especially done with Knuckles.
  • Seasonal Rot - YMMV: Some chapters don't seem to be as good as the others, and later chapters may shift right back.
  • Sir Swears-a-lot - Knuckles, as mentioned before. (Subsequently, this became a trend in all of Manta-bee's fanfics.
    • It is unknown if this stuck, as he hardly curses in the later books.
  • Shut Up, Hannibal!
  • Snicket Warning Label - Used for the first few stories, then dropped altogehter along the last few.
  • "The Reason You Suck" Speech - Suzi gives one of these to Doren, which subdues the latter from attacking.
  • Tonight, Someone Dies - Several secondary characters die in the story.
