    In General
The villains of this fanfic.
  • Always Chaotic Evil: Entire species are labeled as irredeemably evil and must be killed.
  • Amazing Technicolor Population: A lot of villains have gray skin/coats. Examples include Rep-stallion/Razor, Scarlet, Marla, Raven, Brass Bolt, Esroh Dab, Melantha, Phaedra, Fratello (as a robot), Emil (as the Phantom), Distraught, and Zadovia.
  • Ambiguously Brown: A few of the villains are this, like Sienna, Mako, Xaydie, Victor la Guava, and Von Devilor.
  • Bad Boss: All of them love berating and occasionally mistreating their minions for failure. Except Stammadon when he is himself and not under Ka Hotake's influence (though he does call En Shi's quest to find a lover "petty"... not that it isn't).
  • Bond Villain Stupidity: Mykan's villains do not understand the concept of shutting up and letting the heroes struggle to figure out your evil scheme. Or, better yet, just killing them when they have the upper hand, instead of boasting about their inevitable victory only to end up getting trounced by a Deus ex Machina.
  • Broke the Rating Scale: Starfleet's visors can scan power levels. However, some of the villains are too strong and can't be scanned.
  • Card-Carrying Villain: They take pride in the fact that they're evil. Except Distraught and Windy Bag and the IDIOTS.
  • Conservation of Ninjutsu: If a single monster shows up, it takes several of the main cast to bring it down. If a lot of them show up at once, even the Starfleet Red Shirts can deal with one.
  • Crippling Overspecialization: Practically the deal with every single monster, in contrast to the champions of Starfleet. They are all stronger than Starfleet in a specific area, for example raw strength or a powerful gimmick, but once their flaw is exposed, they usually fall easily. Few monsters can adapt to cover their weaknesses.
  • Dark Is Evil: Generally speaking, anything dark and gloomy is connected to the bad guys by default.
  • Dick Dastardly Stops to Cheat: They will put spite in their plans before effectiveness.
  • Evil Is Hammy: These guys love to shout, laugh, and gloat. If you're familiar with any Saturday morning cartoon villain, then you should have a pretty good idea.
  • Evil Wears Black: All of their descriptions involve a lot of black.
  • Generic Doomsday Villain: They lack any depth beyond being evil and mainly exist to give Starfleet something to fight.
  • Informed Flaw: The only proof that a villain's entire species is Always Chaotic Evil is the word of Starfleet.
  • Love Redeems: Many redeemed villainesses get redeemed by a would-be Love Interest, like Phaedra, Human Sunset, Amandiva, and Starlight. Dearka is the one non-female example.
  • Monster of the Week: Every single villain sends these to harass the heroes, usually mooks or monsters created by their underlings.
  • Obviously Evil: Even the ones that don't have a description that screams "generic Evil Overlord" or "generic evil minion" or "strawman" tend to be jerks of the highest caliber, just to make sure you get the point that they are evil.
  • Orcus on His Throne: Nearly every single main villain starts out unreachable by the heroes, and prefers to sit back and let their minions do the dirty work. They'll only take action personally near the end, either finally deciding to take things into their own hands or because Starfleet finally found a way into their evil lair.
  • Our Demons Are Different: Many villains are referred to as "demons" despite lacking any of the usual demon traits. Actual ones appear in Season IX.
  • Put on a Bus: Some redeemed villains get this. Distraught, Sienna, Mako, Striker, and Dearka all get this treatment.
  • Put on a Bus to Hell: The fate of anyone who gets sent to Starfleet's prisons.
  • Redemption Equals Death: The fate of the majority of villains who do redeem themselves. Fratello, Phaedra, Flash Sentry, Esroh Dab, Human Fratello, and Data Stream have all suffered this.
  • Stupid Evil: Often, they do terrible things even when it'll just hurt them in the long run.
  • Suspiciously Similar Substitute: All of the main villains are pretty much interchangeable with each other, considering that they're all Generic Doomsday Villains that want to destroy Starfleet for whatever reason.
  • Too Dumb to Live: Several villains grip the Villain and Idiot Balls like their lives depend on it. And even outside of that, they also tend to fail to scout out enemy territory, ensure the heroes can't escape their traps, ensure that the heroes really are dead, use any strategy aside from the Monster of the Week until late in the season, use helpful new technology to their fullest extent, restrain dangerous or unreliable allies, etc.
  • Villain Ball: It's not uncommon for the villains to do evil for the sake of it, even if it hurts them. Common examples are gloating in the heroes' faces even as the heroes are working to defeat them, terrorizing random places instead of actually trying to stop the heroes first, and destroying planets which also destroys any replenishable and potentially valuable resources.
  • What Measure Is a Mook?: Mooks sent by the villains are often destroyed or sent to Hellhole Prisons by Starfleet, without so much as a bat of an eye.
  • What Measure Is a Non-Human?: Well, non-equine. Most of the time, the Monster of the Week is deemed to be not technically alive by Starfleet and then destroyed without guilt. Most of the non-pony main villains also get killed off without anyone losing sleep over it.
  • Why Don't You Just Shoot Him?: Sweet Celestia, do they have a lot of problems with just finishing off the heroes when they're down. It doesn't help that there's always a Deus ex Machina waiting just around the corner to save the heroes while the villains have them on the ropes.

Villains

Season I

    Titan
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mlulordtitan_7161.png
Originally a brilliant alchemist on the planet Elixis, Titanius saw his family, friends and the love of his life abandon him when an attempt to revive his mother-in-law ended in a face-disfiguring explosion. The incident would drive him mad, leading him to turn to the dark side in exchange for power, adopting the moniker Lord Titan. Using this power, he destroyed Elixis and began conquering other worlds. When he came to Unicornicopia, however, he was swiftly defeated by the Grand Ruler, who banished him for 1000 years.

Titan is the most recurring antagonist in the Starfleet Magic series, being the Big Bad of Season 1, Starfleet Magic: The Movie, Human in United Equestria and Season 10.

  • Actually a Doombot: The rewrite of Season I retconned Titan's early appearances into puppet clones, due to him still being sealed at that point. The Titan in the Dark Star is also a fake.
  • Author Avatar: Theorized by some to be a personification of the author's hatred of Friendship is Magic.
  • Back from the Dead: Suddenly returns in the Season I finale, a second time in Starfleet Magic: The Movie and a third time in Human in United Equestria.
  • Big Bad: The main villain in the original story. In fact, he is the true Big Bad of the series, as he is the most recurring and, on paper, one of the strongest. He also has a big impact, being behind many other villains and indierctly responsible for the destruction of Unicornicopia and Equestria, and the death of Mykan Stevens' girlfriend, so every protagonist has a bone to pick with him.
  • Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: Sometimes he pretends he is a good guy. He promises Distraught to help him avenge his father and also assumes a human form as Mario Lt. Danti. He also convinces a planet he put a generator there for the good of the environment. His true colors are those of a mustache-twirler.
  • Card-Carrying Villain: He introduces himself as "Lord and master of all darkness, and bringer of chaos and nightmares", but most of the time does nothing besides gloat on his throne.
  • Disproportionate Retribution: He got his face disfigured in his past and got shunned by everyone for his hideous looks afterwards. Years later, he kills his entire species and starts to destroy parts of the multiverse for no reason other than it's fun.
  • Dumbass No More: He becomes smarter in each appearance, going from self-destructive to somewhat competent.
  • Eviler than Thou: He proves to be more dangerous than Avyanna twice and even mocks her people for being weaker than him. Also does that to Starlight Glimmer. However, this means they join Starfleet against him later.
  • Evil Is Bigger: He changes his size and always towers over whatever Starfleet can throw at him.
  • Evil Sorcerer: He's a Generic Doomsday Villain and can use magic.
  • Expy:
  • The rewritten version of Titan has several parallels to Count Logan. Both started out as heroic figures, but were pushed away by a Love Interest and were shunned by the world into becoming omnicidally insane and turning to the dark side.
  • The fact he was disfigured in an accident during an experiment meant to revive his mother(-in-law), subsequently shunned by others, and driven mad before going on to become a conqueror makes him resemble Doctor Doom quite a bit.
  • Facial Horror: His face is disfigured due to an accident in his past.
  • Freudian Excuse: In the original, he was picked on because he was weak; in the rewrite, he was ostracized due to his disfigurement.
  • Generic Doomsday Villain: He has all power and wants to destroy Unicornicopia just so he can spread chaos and destruction over reality, just because. His dialogue is dripping in clichés and there is nothing unique about his appearance at all. Being Stupid Evil and going with the first Saturday morning cartoon plot his minions come up with doesn't help matters.
  • Hidden Agenda Villain: In the original version, he tries to steal Lightning Dawn's secrets. However, it's unclear exactly why he wanted to do so.
  • Hijacked by Ganon: Is behind Distraught. He is also a bigger threat than Avyanna in Human in United Equestria and outright pulls an Eviler than Thou to her in Season X.
  • I Want Them Alive!: He insists on taking Lightning Dawn alive to drain his power. This backfires horribly.
  • Informed Ability: Is called the Emperor of Nightmares and an unstoppable evil, called the strongest villain in the series by Mykan... but then gets blown up multiple times in his premiere fanfic alone. He is slightly better in the rewrite, where his early defeats (which were too easy) were retconned into being puppet clones.
  • Joker Immunity: He simply can't stay dead, even when thrown into the Sun. It is stated he might still return despite being destroyed twice in a row in Season X.
  • Leaking Can of Evil: Even sealed, he can send minions and weak clones of himself to cause trouble.
  • Marathon Boss: In Season X, the finale takes multiple chapters, and the fight with him has multiple phases.
  • Meaningful Name: He opposes divine beings like the mythological titans. He also frequently towers over the heroes.
  • Multiversal Conqueror: According to Word of God, he's got a number of prior victories under his belt, not that he shows it during the story. Even the shown destruction of two planets happen through canon MLP villains, just under his thrall. In Season X, another planet is destroyed because of his forces, even though Dyno and Myte did drive them off. He finally gets a clear personal victory close to the end of Season X; he gets the Enticorn before Starfleet does and the episode stops there.
  • Obviously Evil: Just take a look at his character portrait. Dark-colored cloak with face-concealing hood, glowing red eyes, huge shoulder pads with spikes on them... Is there any part of his appearance that doesn't scream "blatant villain"?
  • Orcus on His Throne: He doesn't really do much himself, preferring to let his minions handle the dirty work most of the time. Justified in the rewrite, where he's still mostly sealed away and can thus only act through his minions and weak copies of himself, and later has to cover up he did not die. In Season X, he also has to recharge his power throughout the season.
  • Purple Is Powerful: His design incorporates some purple and he's one of the most dangerous foes Starfleet has faced... at least on paper.
  • Red and Black and Evil All Over: He's red-eyed and wears both black and red.
  • Red Eyes, Take Warning: He's evil and red-eyed.
  • Sealed Evil in a Can: At least till he breaks out from his dimensional prison.
  • Self-Made Orphan: In the original, he killed his father for more power. In the rewrite, he just simply killed his entire planet, which ostensibly still includes what family he had.
  • Significant Anagram: In a scene taken straight out of Harry Potter, Titan disguises himself as "Mario L.T Danti" (an anagram for "I Am Lord Titan") in Human in United Equestria
  • Taking You with Me: His final attack is becoming a black hole threatening to destroy all of his enemies, after he is destroyed.
  • "The Reason You Suck" Speech: Titan calls out Celesto and Celestia, telling them they are just like him for sending their followers to fight and risk their lives. They tell him the reasons they fight are different from his, though Titan was more focused on the means.
  • Took a Level in Badass: Like Starfleet, he gets gradually stronger, always enough to catch up to them. He also slowly learns from his defeats. In Season I, he makes fatal mistakes; in The Movie, he instructs Distraught to avoid them and can counter the Uniforce, with his only mistakes being focusing too much on Lightning and expecting a force field to do the rest; and in Human in United Equestria, he even limits the gloating and actively tries to stop anything that might beat him. In Season X, he waits for Starfleet and Avyanna to tire themselves out, then captures the Enticorn. His plan worked and it would be a Xanatos Gambit if the possibility of Lightning uniting with the Enticorn first didn't exist. In his final battle, he becomes a superweapon, has to truly be beaten in a battle of wits and is a threat even when he gets destroyed with his Dark Star.
    • One of his most infamous blunders is saving Lightning's life from Rep-Stallion. When Starlight Glimmer attempts to kill Celestia with no waiting and it proves to be somewhat effective, Titan doesn't repeat said mistake.
  • Unexplained Recovery: After being blown up halfway through the story. Later, it turns out he survived getting THROWN INTO THE SUN and becomes the Big Bad of The Movie.
  • Wave-Motion Gun: Builds the Dark Star as a superweapon able to obliterate everything. He also fuses his own soul to it.
  • Why Don't You Just Shoot Him?:
    • He insists on keeping Lightning Dawn alive so he can take his powers. However, Lightning is also the only one who can stop him in the first place...
    • Also, he gloats way too much in the middle of the fights. In the end of Season I, for example, he could have won with relative ease if he had tried to stop his opposition from freeing the rulers once they were inside him.
  • Woobie, Destroyer of Worlds: In the rewrite, he started out as a brilliant healer and alchemist, until he failed to treat his love interest's mother and she refused to have anything more to do with him. His attempt to make amends ended with her disfiguring him, and he was subsequently shunned by absolutely everyone for his looks until he snapped and turned to villainy.
  • You Have Outlived Your Usefulness: Pulls one of these on Starlight Glimmer. It comes back to bite him.

    Mysterious, Dementia, and Rep-Stallion
Titan's minions, and the main cause of the attacks on the heroes in the first story.
  • Beauty, Brains, and Brawn: Dementia, Mysterious and Rep-Stallion respectively play this trope completely straight.
  • Beauty Is Bad: According to the narration, Dementia is attractive. She's also shown to be evil.
  • The Brute: Rep-Stallion.
  • The Bus Came Back: Along with Titan, they return in Season X wherein they take on new names and appearances. Mysterious becomes "Specter", Rep-Stallion becomes "Razor" and Dementia becomes "Waverline".
  • Dirty Coward: Played with with Specter. While attacking Lightning in child form is very cowardly and Lightning makes sure to call him out for this, Specter has no problem facing the adult allies of him, even taunting them for coming.
  • Dragon Their Feet: After Titan seemingly dies, the minions keep fighting in his name voluntarily. They also get Knight forms and become a legitimate threat to Starfleet when they want to avenge their master. Subverted just because Titan faked his death.
  • Dumb Muscle: Rep-Stallion. His stupidity has endangered his own allies, but he is very strong and also skilled in melee combat. Ironically, once he proves to be smarter than Titan himself.
  • Eviler than Thou: They betray Starlight Glimmer for not being evil enough. If Luna and the rest of her allies on United Equestria didn't help Starlight, the Trio would win.
  • Evil Is Deathly Cold: Some of Dementia's attacks involve ice and she's evil.
  • Evil Virtues: They all share an Undying Loyalty to Titan. They're shown mourning Titan's death and continuing to fight in his name afterwards.
  • An Ice Person: Some of Dementia's attacks invoke this.
  • Informed Attribute: The narration would have readers believe they don't have hearts. Their ability to feel jealousy, rage, desire and even compassion (for their master) has readers believing otherwise.
  • Let's You and Him Fight: Once, they manage to overpower Starfleet. Starfleet responds by tricking them into hitting each other.
  • Licking the Blade: Rep-Stallion sometimes licks his scythe.
  • Living Shadow: Mysterious.
  • Made of Evil: They're labelled as supposedly heartless constructs of evil magic and graveyard soil, giving Starfleet an in-universe justification for killing them on the basis that they can't be redeemed. Which is why they are also immune to Cadance's magic. Even though they aren't so evil in practice. In Season X, they might be actually more evil, but still not emotionless enough to truly live up to the description.
  • Palette Swap: Dementia is just a recolored Starla, who in turn is just a slightly edited Rarity. Yes, a palette swap of another palette swap. Her appearance changes as Waverline.
  • Shock and Awe: Rep-Stallion's power. Usually he combines it with his scythe.
  • Shout-Out: Most of their attack names come from the PS2 video game Orphen: Scion of Sorcery.
  • Sinister Scythe: Rep-Stallion's weapon. An electric one.
  • The Smurfette Principle: Dementia is the only female member of Titan and his minions.
  • The Starscream: While absolutely not to Titan, they play this straight with Starlight Glimmer.
  • Super Smoke: Smoke of Pain, one of Mysterious's powers.
  • Team Rocket Wins: Sometimes they score victories, especially when they invade Equestria. They also knock out Shining Armor and even overpower Starfleet a few times.
  • Teeth-Clenched Teamwork: They avert this with Nightmare Moon, having no problem working with her. But they play it straight with Discord, complaining he showed up at all. Also with Starlight Glimmer. Titan is the only reason they don't come to blows with sooner.
  • Terrible Trio: As Piccolo would tell you; pretty one (Dementia), stupid one (Rep-Stallion), one with weird powers (Mysterious).
  • Took a Level in Badass: Before their Knight forms, they rely on monsters to do their work and are barely a match for Starfleet. After they get these forms, they become stronger than Starfleet. And in Season X, in spite of Starfleet growing much stronger than in the past, the Trio manage to still be their equals.
  • Took a Level in Jerkass: In Lightning's words, they didn't change in Season X, but they did get more evil in practice. Mysterious kills a monster for being too weak, then attacks a child, and Dementia used a racist slur to taunt Rarity.
  • Undying Loyalty: To Titan. They genuinely weep about him and do their best to fight in his name.
  • Vain Sorceress: Dementia's obsession with her looks is her defining trait.
  • Vanity Is Feminine: Dementia, the token female member, is completely obsessed with her appearance.
  • Villain Forgot to Level Grind: The best thing that can be said about them is that they avert this, becoming stronger both in the middle of Season I and in Season X.
  • Villainous Breakdown: If her appearance gets ruined, expect Dementia to lose it.
  • Villain Team-Up: With Nightmare Moon.
  • Weakened by the Light: Because he is a Living Shadow, Mysterious has this weakness since he gets hurt by standing in any form of light. However, once he gets his Knight form, he grows out of it.
  • What Measure Is a Non-Human?: They are artificial beings and considered not worth rescuing by the heroes when the reality they fought in starts to collapse around them and they are too weak to escape.
  • Why Don't You Just Shoot Him?: In one chapter, Rep-Stallion is ready to deliver the killing blow towards Lightning, when Titan calls him back for no reason at all. If he had just given him five more seconds, the hero would have been dead. Titan later explains that this is because he wants Lightning alive so he can take his powers. Not exactly the smartest plan when Lightning is the only one who is able to defeat him and he's conquered worlds without the Uniforce before. Come two episodes later, and Titan is destroyed.
  • Would Hurt a Child: Specter in Season X is very, very eager to fight Lightning when he has turned into a kid and attempts to kill him more than once.

    Serpentari
When the newly rechristened Lord Titan destroyed Elixis, he thought he had claimed the lives of all of its inhabitants. However, there was one survivor, ironically the one that Titan wished to destroy the most: his fiancée, Sari. Surviving the blast, she was sent to the Bayou planet, where an errant snake bite turned her into the monstrous Serpentari. Now, she seeks to gather the Star Stones by any means necessary in order to get revenge on Titan. This includes destroying entire planets in search of the stones.
  • Emergency Transformation: Both incarnations of the character had to undergo one due to injuries sustained from Titan.
  • Enemy Mine: Averted. Despite both Serpentari & Starfleet wanting to destroy Titan, Serpentari's tendencies to destroy entire planets put her at odds with the team.
  • Expy: In the original, (s)he is named after the weapon in Forever Red.
  • Evil Versus Evil: She is a mortal enemy of Titan. Both are petty planet-busters and both have legitimate reasons to hate each other. Sadly, it is not very fleshed out.
  • Gender Flip: Male in the original, female in the remake.
  • It's Personal: Between her and Titan. Lightning Dawn also wants revenge because Serpentari blew up his planet for no good reason at all.
  • Luke, I Am Your Father: Serpent-Tyrant in the original was Titan's father.
  • Meaningful Name: Perhaps coincidentally, "Serpentari" is Catalan for "Ophiucus", a zodiacal constellation of the northern summer said to depict a man (Asclepius) holding a serpent.
  • Snakes Are Sinister: A large snake that desires to do evil things with the Rainbow/Star Stones.
  • Sudden Name Change: Was Serpent-Terror or Serpent-Tyrant in the original.
  • Ungrateful Bitch: In the rewrite, despite Titanius doing everything in his power to treat her mother's disease, Sari still blamed her death on him and cut ties with him. She went as far as to melt his face off with a flask of acid (though she didn't know that at the time) when he tried to make amends.

    Nightmare Moon
An evil tyrant.

    Discord
An evil-doer who gets brainwashed by Titan.
  • The Brute: He gets demoted to this, as he becomes a brainwashed henchman who loses his reality warping abilities for a darker appearance and more physical strength. He destroys everything around him near-mindlessly, and is notable for nothing else.
  • Demoted to Dragon: He gets brainwashed into subservience by Titan.
  • Evil Sounds Deep: He gains a deep voice after being brainwashed by Titan.
  • Killed Off for Real: Celestia blasts him into the crumbling Unicornicopia, and he dies in the ensuing explosion.
  • Small Role, Big Impact: He destroys Unicornicopia. He is also basically a Monster of the Week, just more effective than the others.
  • Starfish Aliens: In the Starfleet continuity, the Draconequus are aliens.
  • Villain Decay: Reduced to a brainwashed monster henchman of Big Bad Titan near the end of the story and loses his reality warping abilities. To add insult to injury, he gets killed by Celestia. He somehow still manages to be more effective than most of the Starfleet villains, as he destroys Unicornicopia.

Season II

    Queen Chrysalis
Queen of the Changelings, and the main antagonist of season II.

The Changeling Captain (All spoilers unmarked)
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/what_brother.jpg
Click here  to see his original form
A Changeling captain serving under Queen Chrysalis. However, his true identity is Fratello, the long-lost brother of Princess Cadance who fended off an invasion of alien robots, but was subsequently assimilated into their ranks and eventually became their leader.
  • Back from the Dead: Fratello's ghost joins back with his replacement robot body.
  • "Blind Idiot" Translation: His name is Italian for "My Dear Big Brother", but in common usage, Italians use either the formal term "fratello maggiore" or the informal, affectionate "fratellone". "Grande fratello", the term used in his name, only ever refers to one specific Big Brother.
  • The Chew Toy: To list the stuff he's been put through: before the events of Starfleet Magic II, he fights off a horde of alien Killer Robots, only to be assimilated into their ranks and presumed dead. He comes back as a treacherous minion of Chrysalis, and while he succeeds in backstabbing her, Chrysalis later returns the favor by essentially brainwashing him and making him her bitch, and he gets killed by Cadance a short time later. Then in Starfleet Magic III, Twilight channels his spirit into a makeshift body, but she dies in only a few chapters, breaking the spell and effectively killing him a second time. The robotic look-alike of Fratello made by Brain doesn't fare much better; its first appearance has it being reprogrammed to assassinate Celestia, and it's later destroyed when Frost-Eye freezes United Equestria over due to being unable to withstand the extreme cold. Fratello's spirit then possesses the robot's remains, bringing him back to life again only to be destroyed by King Sombra during the finale, finally killing him off for good.
  • Cybernetics Eat Your Soul: He fended off a robot invasion by donning the robots' own equipment and turning it on them. However, this caused the robots' programming to infect his mind, effectively turning him into one of them.
  • Expy: Of Frax. He's introduced as the Big Bad's second-in-command, but is later revealed to have their own agenda. He was formerly an organic being before being forcibly converted into a machine (although Fratello's circumstances were different from Frax's). His final moments are similar to Frax's at the end of Time Force in that they were both brainwashed by the season's main villain before dying.
  • I Cannot Self-Terminate: Slips into this on the occasions that Fratello resurfaces.
  • Informed Attribute: He is repeatedly stated to not have feelings due to being a robot yet he is clearly seen being angry and even remorseful over the course of the season.
  • Meaningful Name: His full name is Italian (or, more precisely, an Italian "Blind Idiot" Translation) for "My Dear Big Brother".
  • Overly Long Name: Il Mio Caro Grande Fratello. Now that's a mouthful.
  • Red and Black and Evil All Over: Sports both red and black.
  • Remember the New Guy?: Turns out the second main antagonist of My Brave Pony: Starfleet Magic II is Cadance's brother Fratello, who we never heard of before.
  • Replacement Goldfish: After Fratello's death, Brain builds a replacement Fratello in My Brave Pony: Starfleet Magic III.
  • The Starscream: He is a cyborg only pretending to be a changeling who wants to take over Equestria with his robot army. Not that he's terribly subtle about it.
  • Walking Spoiler: Most of what we know about him is set up as a major plot twist, starting from the fact that he's not actually a Changeling.

    Distraught
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/neon_discord.jpg
Remember the time Distraught tried to wipe out Starfleet in revenge over them killing Discord? Swell guy, that Distraught.
Wants to avange his father.
  • Affably Evil: Distraught has no problem holding parties and serving ice cream to the very same ponies that he plans on destroying.
  • The Heavy: Of Starfleet Magic: The Movie. Titan is manipulating him, but he is the one who is the more direct threat.
  • Heel–Face Turn: Supposedly, at the very end of Starfleet Magic: The Movie. Not that anything actually comes of it, since he's never heard from again.
  • Palette Swap: He's very clearly a recolored Discord.
  • You Killed My Father: And in this case, his father is Discord.

How the Finch Stopped Hearth's Warming

    The Finch
She hates Hearth's Warming and wants to freeze all hearts.
  • Evil Is Deathly Cold: She's got ice powers and she's a villainess who seeks to freeze all hearts.
  • Expy: Even the title shows this villain as one of the Grinch. However, she is more closed-minded.
  • Freudian Excuse: Growing up, her family was always on the move so she never got a chance to make friends and her father was a Jerkass who treated her poorly whilst her mother never stood up to him for her. Her father also never let them celebrate Hearth's Warming on some years and on the ones they did, they were very disappointing to her as she only received useless giftsnote  and had bad dinners.note
  • Green-Eyed Monster: She seeks to destroy Hearth's Warming because she's jealous that the ponies and every other creature in Equestria had a better time celebrating the holidays than she did.
  • An Ice Person: She and her Windigos have ice powers.
  • I'll Take That as a Compliment: Does this when Lightning says she's "even colder than the winter she casts", admitting that she is and proud to be.
  • The Social Darwinist: She despised her mother for always going along with what her father said and did and was thrilled when she died in slavery, claiming that she was "too spineless to deserve to keep going".
  • Tom the Dark Lord: Her true name is Frieda.
  • White Hair, Black Heart: Has silvery white plumage and hair, and is the Big Bad of the Christmas Special.

Season III

    Frost-Eye
He has ice powers and is kind of stupid, but powerful.

    Phaedra
She loves Royce and has more morals than her allies. Also gets turned to stone.

    Harkin
Desires to fight strong opponents.
  • Blood Knight: Was born with no knowledge of his family or world, so his life became all about fighting and searching for a worthy opponent. His Blood Knight tendencies eventually led to him betraying Sombra.
  • Energy Weapon: His signature move, Red Rays. Also counts as a Hand Blast.
  • Evil Counterpart: Set up as one for Lightning. Both are powerful beings who lost their family and world at a young age, but while Lightning had Krysta and was later taken in by Grand Ruler and taught to use his powers to defend others, Harkin had no such luck and ended up as a nihilistic fighting machine.
  • A Good Way to Die: To him, being bested by an Enticorn - namely, Lightning - counts as this.
  • Kung-Fu Wizard: Two of his Signature Moves, Red Rays and Fists of Fury are a ranged attack and a punching attack, respectively.
  • Megaton Punch: Harkin's Fists of Fury attack.
  • Villain Team-Up: In Episode 16 of My Brave Pony: Starfleet Magic III, he and Raven team up.
  • Worthy Opponent: Harkin sees Lightning as one and always looks forward to fighting him.

    Melantha

    Raven
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/murderer.jpg
The actual reason Twilight Sparkle died, and living proof that she actually had a pair. The ball is in your court, Starfleet.
Click here  to see her original form
An assassin who wants to avenge the death of her husband.
  • Crusading Widow: A villainous example, in that her motivation for going after Celestia is to avenge the death of her husband (who was killed in an accident involving her).
  • Even Evil Has Loved Ones: Although she's evil, Raven is shown to love her husband and she wants to avenge him.
  • Expy: She is named and based off the Teen Titans character.
  • Good Powers, Bad People: Wields the Uniforce despite being a villain.
  • Happily Married: Her backstory reveals she originally had a husband and the two clearly loved each other.
  • Hero Killer: Ultimately the one to kill Twilight Sparkle.
  • Informed Attribute: She's stated to be too strong for Starfleet to do much about for most of III, but nothing she does indicates her as any more dangerous than, say, the Big Bad of III, who'd been training as long as she had, let alone any other Big Bad before and after IV, yet Starfleet had no problem going after any of them. In fact, according to the series' own logic, since she's an Equestrian, she would be no match for even the weakest Space Pony. Granted, she does kill Twilight, which is more than other villains can say, but this can also be attributed to stupidity and cowardice on Starfleet's part.
  • Lone Wolf Boss: She isn't affiliated with Sombra, targeting Celestia of her own accord.
  • One-Winged Angel: Not of her own accord, though - she's transformed into yet another giant monster by Melantha.
  • Poisoned Weapons: During her fight against Celestia, Raven coated her own hands in a poison that entered Celestia's body during the fight and slowly wears her down over the course of the next season.
  • Shout-Out: She's just a ponified version of the character with the same name from Teen Titans.

    King Sombra

  • Bad Boss: Yells at and threatens his minions quite a bit.
  • Big Bad: He leads the villains in My Brave Pony: Starfleet III and aims to get the Crystal Heart.
  • The Bully: In the Starfleet continuity, Sombra was first seen as a bully named Dusk Shine.
  • Canon Character All Along: He initially appears in the story as Celesto's bully and went by Dusk Shine. After getting banished for cheating in a tournament, he swore vengeance under his new identity as King Sombra.
  • Card-Carrying Villain: He always talks about how he embraces evil, darkness and power.
  • Cheaters Never Prosper: As Dusk Shine, he drugs Celesto's water during a tournament to determine who will guard Celestia. He gets caught, stripped of his rank, and banished.
  • Do Not Call Me "Paul": It's not Dusk Shine, it is now SOMBRA!
  • Expy: Dusk Shine is named after the male version of Twilight Sparkle. Considering how much Mykan hates Twilight, it wouldn't be a surprise if this is why he would use that name.
  • From Nobody to Nightmare: Started as a common bully, but later became a legitimate threat to United Equestria.
  • Generic Doomsday Villain: Granted, it's not that far from canon in this case.
  • Schoolyard Bully All Grown Up: In his youth, he bullied Celesto. In his adulthood, he enslaved an empire, then tried to conquer a planet.
  • Suddenly Shouting: He has a bad habit of this.
  • Villain Decay: Sombra's canon incarnation was an inexorable force of darkness that could only be held at bay by the Crystal Heart. Here, he prefers to sit back and let his minions do the dirty work even after the Crystal Heart is shattered, and when he does take action, he's nowhere near the borderline Eldritch Abomination he's portrayed as in canon. He also was once little more than a bully.

    Sir Awdr Pomption III
A freelancer Space Pony appearing in episode 12 of season III. Awdr was arranged a marriage with Starla years ago, and now he's come to collect.
  • And Now You Must Marry Me: Does the entire schtick with Starla, based on the fact that her father arranged their marriage when she was a child.
  • Brainwashed and Crazy: He's on the giving end of this to a group of ponies and fairies to enlist them as his personal guard. He also tries to brainwash Starla into marrying him when she protests against it.
  • Filler Villain: He doesn't have anything to do with King Sombra, the season's Big Bad, and doesn't contribute much to the overall plot.
  • If I Can't Have You…: Awdr attempts to murder Starla when she rebuffs him and resists his hypnosis.
  • Mass Hypnosis: Awdr is shown to be able to keep a large contingent of ponies and fairies hypnotized at the same time to serve as his private army.
  • Remember the New Guy?: Despite being the arranged husband of Starla and part of a family that has business dealings with hers, Awdr is never mentioned prior to his appearance. Partly justified in that Starla's father died before he could break the news.
  • Token Heroic Orc: Inverted. He's one of the few Space Ponies portrayed as evil.
  • The Unpronounceable: How exactly does one pronounce a combination of those particular consonants with no vowels in between?
  • Villain of the Week: Awdr only serves as an antagonist for one episode, and at the end of it, he's hauled off and never heard from again.
  • You Are Number 6: Averted. For unexplained reasons, Awdr doesn't have an ID code (or at least a visible one).

    Victor La Guava
The main bad guy of episode 21 of Season III.
  • Cain and Abel: Alejandro and Victor. The former is revered as a noble president, while the latter has the dubious honor of being one of the few evil space ponies.
  • Establishing Character Moment: We first see him throwing a fit due to one of his sentries interrupting him while he's counting taxes.
  • Evil Uncle: He's Dyno and Myte's uncle who briefly rules El Mundo.
  • Large Ham: He loves to chew the scenery.
  • Non-Action Guy: It's mentioned that he's not a very good combatant, and when he fights the heroes, it's with a BFG. Once that runs out, he gets taken down instantly.
  • Token Heroic Orc: Inverted; this guy is one of only two evil Space Ponies so far.
  • Villain of the Week: Only appears in one episode and is defeated at the end of it.

Season IV

    The Dark King
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/chernabog.jpg
Chernabog's career really went downhill after Bald Mountain.
He's an evil Bad Boss and comes from the future to crush Starfleet early.
  • Almighty Idiot: He is literally extracted evil incarnate, and is a near-godlike foe, who has nearly beaten Starfleet in his timeline and kills named characters in the final battle. His very presence makes the world darker. He also makes several fatal mistakes that lead to his defeat and has no proper motive, being evil incarnate.
  • Bad Boss: He loves berating his minions for failure. To top it off, he kills Tnaig, his last minion, for getting slightly overzealous when fighting the Grand Celestial Ruler.
  • Conqueror from the Future: He has conquered most of United Equestria in the future.
  • Create Your Own Villain: Starfleet is directly responsible for the Dark King's existence, as he is a manifestation of "dark energy" from the prisoners that Starfleet tried to rehabilitate.
  • Dumb Muscle: Phenomenal cosmic power, itty bitty thinking space. He is strong enough to kill two heroes onscreen and stupid enough to be directly responsible for his defeat.
  • Evil Is Bigger: His finger is described as being the size of Grand Celestial Ruler, who's already a good deal bigger than most of the other heroes.
  • Generic Doomsday Villain: Like Titan before him, he wants to do evil things For the Evulz. Unlike Titan, he doesn't even have the excuse of wanting revenge on anyone.
  • Hero Killer: In his timeline, the Dark King kills off Shining Armor, Krysta, Lightning, and Spike. During the final battle, he adds Future Castor and Future Rarity to the list. Of course, the timeline is undone after the Dark King's defeat, so it doesn't really amount to anything in the long run.
  • Load-Bearing Boss: In a particularly exaggerated example, the Dark King's defeat erases the entire timeline he came from.
  • Made of Evil: Specifically, the evil from Starfleet's prisoners Starfleet extracted.
  • Make Wrong What Once Went Right: The Dark King has conquered most of United Equestria in the future, but faces resistance that prevents him from finishing the job. Thus, he send his minions back in time to try and prevent Starfleet from winning in the past.
  • Orcus on His Throne: In-universe, the Dark King choosing to act through minions in the past instead of doing things himself is justified by him somehow being too big and powerful to travel through time.
  • Red Eyes, Take Warning: A red-eyed villain.
  • Sealed Evil in a Can: To stop the manifestation of dark energy that would later become the Dark King from destroying everything, Celesto resorted to putting all of United Equestria in stasis in order to trap it. Sometime down the line, Starfleet unsealed United Equestria and tried to split the energy into parts to contain separately. It worked... temporarily.
  • Stupid Evil: He has pretty much conquered the world in his timeline, so why he insists on going back in time to conquer the past is unclear, especially when the only assistance Starfleet is receiving from the future are two people. It gets even worse when he constantly berates his minions for changing the timeline yet it never occurs to him to just stop with these ultimately self-destructive actions. And he gets even dumber when he kills his most competent minion and saves Starfleet. For a reason that wouldn't be an issue if Dark King was more careful. The reason he is a threat at all is that he is physically very, very powerful.
  • Suspiciously Similar Substitute: A darkness-themed villain with hardly any personality that lives on a dark planet and has an eccentric group of minions whom he tasks with summoning monsters to stop Starfleet. This description applies to both Titan and the Dark King.
  • Too Dumb to Live: Tries to alter the past so that he will emerge victorious in the future despite the risk of preventing himself from coming into existence.

    The Dark King's Minions
Composed of Tnaig, Nomed, Ergo, Neila, and Esroh Dab. They're primarily defined by being evil. Esroh Dab is primarily defined by gradually becoming less evil.
  • Evil Is Petty: Not only is Esroh Dab serving the Dark King, he also frequently disses other characters while he's disguised as a United Equestrian.
  • Expy: Of the Dark Five from Futari wa Pretty Cure. Nomed is Pisard, Ergo is Gekidrago, Neila is Poisonny, Esroh Dab is Kiriya, and Tnaig is Ilkubo. Ironically, they don't use the "possessed object as Monster of the Week" schtick integral to the Pretty Cure series, despite the villains in seasons I and III doing so.
  • Heel–Face Door-Slam: Esroh Dab gets killed by Tnaig before he can turn good.
  • Hugh Mann: Esroh Dab tries to blend into United Equestrian society to spy on them. Though the results are questionable at best, no one finds him suspicious.
  • Informed Attribute: Yet again, it is stated that one of the villains (in this case, Esroh Dab) is incapable of feeling emotions yet he demonstrates he is quite capable of doing so.
  • Jerkass: Esroh Dab just isn't very nice to those around him in his United Equestrian guise, often making scathing remarks with little provocation. Spike even openly wonders what Rarity sees in him, though Rarity takes it upon herself to change his attitude.
  • Made of Evil: They're said to be created from the same darkness from whence the Dark King came.
  • No-Nonsense Nemesis: Tnaig does not screw around with his enemies or potential traitors.
  • Sdrawkcab Name: All of them. Giant, Ogre, Alien, Demon and Bad Horse are the sources of their names.
  • The Stoic: Tnaig generally doesn't show much emotion.

    The Cardinals
Twelve Monsters based on the Eastern Zodiac. They are composed of Rat Racer, Big Bull, Flame-Stripes, Bouncer, Dragoon, Dark Scales, Silver Steed, Baa-Baa Black, Chompanzee, Buster Beak, Underdog, and Boar Bottoms
  • Acrofatic: Boar Bottoms, especially after Ergo uses "Speed Up" magic on him
  • Anti-Magic: Dark Scales can dispel magic, though it's only used to prevent Starfleet from activating Mega Mode.
  • Asteroids Monster: Baa-Baa Black splits into two whenever it takes a hit.
  • Boxing Kangaroo: For some reason, Bouncer fights with boxing gloves.
  • Breath Weapon: Flame-Stripes, Chompanzee, and Boar Bottoms all can use these, though in the case of Boar Bottoms, he has to absorb energy beforehand.
  • Calling Your Attacks: Zigzagged. 4 of the Cardinals call their attacks, while the rest are completely silent.
  • Cards of Power: The name Cardinal refers to the fact that they are summoned from magical cards.
  • Fusion Dance: Tnaig combines with Dragoon in order to fight the heroes.
  • Kevlard: Boar Bottoms's fat causes attacks launched at him to simply bounce off.
  • Monster of the Week: Like Titan's monsters and the Changelings before them, they are sent one at a time to fight the heroes.
  • One-Steve Limit: Averted. In the first chapter of Starfleet Magic IV, a minotaur named Big Bull appears in Lightning's nightmare. He isn't the same Big Bull as the Cardinal.
  • Our Dragons Are Different: Contrary to most depictions of the Eastern Zodiac, Dragoon is a western dragon rather than an eastern one.
  • Shockwave Stomp: Aside from boxing, this is Bouncer's other special ability.
  • Trick Boss: Dragoon seems too easy until he fuses with Tnaig and becomes very tough.

    Tirek
He's a villain.

    Amandiva
Vanity and entitled behavior are all that can be said of her personality before her Heel–Face Turn, in which afterwards she loses those.
  • Beauty Is Bad: Stunningly beautiful and an entitled royal pain.
  • Entitled to Have You: Did not care what Lightning thought of being married to her.
  • Expy: Of Amentia from Winx Club. She loves perfection, desires to marry a man who's already in a relationship and, at the wedding, is slipped something that makes her fall for her true love instead.
  • Heel–Face Turn: After drinking water spiked by Cadance's magic, she falls in love with Soron, one of her guards who has a crush on her, and turns good.
  • Slipping a Mickey: On the receiving end of one; Cadance spikes the marriage goblet with magic so that Amandiva will fall for Soron and drop her spoiled behavior.
  • Vanity Is Feminine: Her defining trait prior to her Heel–Face Turn.

    General Sylphesh
An egocentric slob and an asshole of the highest degree. He's also the dictator of Zanadu, until Starfleet defeats him.
  • Dirty Coward: Not only is Starfleet told about that, but he indeed surrenders after his mech is destroyed.
  • Disproportionate Retribution: Has his guards fire missiles at the heroes for fleeing his hotel.
  • Foil: To Amandiva. Both are the absolute rulers of Zanadu and Amasia respectively, are feared and hated by the populace and have a beautiful palace juxtaposed with large areas of the planet being dilapidated and gloomy. However, while Amandiva is The Perfectionist and hates filth, Sylphesh is first seen sloppily eating and shedding crumbs everywhere. Also, Amandiva gets redeemed by Cadance using magically drugged water, while Sylphesh is defeated and now has to work off the money he fraudulently took.
  • Gilded Cage: His hotel rooms are the pinnacle of luxury... if you ignore that you're trapped in the rooms until the hotel sucks your wallets dry by the second.
  • Greed: Charges his customers by the second for staying at his hotel.
  • Humongous Mecha: The only thing he has that can fight Starfleet.
  • It's All About Me: You aren't his top priority if your name isn't I.M. Sylphesh.
  • Punny Name: His name, I.M. Sylphesh, is clearly a corruption of "I am selfish".
  • Small Name, Big Ego: He acts like the world revolves around him, yet he isn't even a secondary villain like Raven or the Black Dragon Knight.

Human in United Equestria

    Princess Avyanna
She's a Pirate Girl pretending to help Starfleet, obsessed with Mykan Stevens, cares about her men, plus is spoiled and egoistical.
  • Amazing Technicolor Population: Has yellow skin.
  • And Now You Must Marry Me: Tries this on Mykan in Season VI.
  • The Bus Came Back: Returns in Season X as a minor villain.
  • Enemy Mine: Has to work with Starfleet against Titan.
  • Expy: Of Princess Ardala from Buck Rogers. Both are incredibly beautiful princesses who are evil and command a powerful fleet each. Both of them also want to marry the male protagonist, and their first defeats are the exact same.
  • Karma Houdini: Escapes Starfleet, with losing Mykan as her only consequence...
  • Karma Houdini Warranty: ...Until she is captured in Season X, twice in one episode.
  • A Lighter Shade of Black: She is a pirate, selfish and spoiled. However, she cares about her troops enough to evacuate them out of danger, is not destructive, and overall not nearly as bad as Titan. Also, her crush on Mykan involves blackmail, but at least she doesn't outright force herself on him, and hits on an adult, unlike En Shi.
  • Meaningful Name: Her name means "powerful woman" in her language.
  • The Mole: Though seemingly working with Starfleet, it is made very obvious that she will betray them.
  • Pirate Girl: A Space Pirate Girl no less.
  • Suspiciously Similar Substitute: To one-shot villain Amandiva. Both have long brown hair, are hailed as beautiful, tried to marry one of the protagonists, who happened to be a different species, are utterly obsessed with beauty, had a male of the same species pine after them, the Villainous Princess of an entire planet, and even their names start and end with an A, and has three of them.
  • Villainous Crush: On human Mykan.
  • Villainous Princess: She's an evil princess who's a pirate and a stalker.
  • World's Most Beautiful Woman: Explicitly hailed as such, except on a galactic level.

Season V

    The Insecto Armada
Mooks for other villains.
  • Always Chaotic Evil: They're described as warmongers who exist only to conquer planets and destroy other species to show off their power.
  • Hollywood Acid: While their actual powers are quite diverse, a disproportionately large number of them use acid attacks.
  • Insectoid Aliens: As their name suggests, they're humanoid alien bugs.
  • Mauve Shirt: The Insecto commanders. They each get a name, a couple of defining traits, one fight scene, and are then killed off.
  • Mooks: Stingars, which are basically drones that serve only to get mown down in waves by the heroes.
  • Multi-Armed and Dangerous: Most Insectos have numerous limbs, like real-life insects.
  • Stupid Evil: They destroyed their own planet.
  • We Have Reserves: They don't get too bothered by losses; after all, they can easily send more. In the initial assault on United Equestria, their ships are shown firing at Stingars in order to get at the heroes.

    King Pinsar

  • Bad Boss: All of the main villains fall under this category, but Pinsar takes the cake. He's perfectly fine with sending swarms of his mooks to their deaths and remotely executes any of his commanders that get captured by Starfleet.
  • Big Bad: Of Starfleet Magic V.
  • Disc-One Final Boss: He is barely defeated by Celesto a little over halfway into the story and succumbs to his injuries, and the Big Bad role is taken over by Ladybird and Phoebe afterwards.
  • Dragon Ascendant: He started out as a minion of Titan, but after Titan's defeat, he becomes a new major threat to United Equestria.
  • Dumb Muscle: Gets his own planet destroyed, sends his monsters one by one through a tiny gap in the enemy planet's shields when he could get the generators rammed, basically sends his own men to their deaths, believes Stag's lies about Starfleet having his daughter... and still nearly kills the Grand Ruler himself., and has also killed one of the Ruler's best followers.
  • Even Evil Has Loved Ones: He cares somewhat about his wife and he serves Titan partly to keep her safe.
  • Expy: Of Scorpius. He is the leader of an insectoid army and starts off as the Big Bad. Has a daughter that he cares for, who replaces him after his death and he dies after attacking the heroes when a scheeming general of his lies to him that said daughter has been captured by them. He is also responsible for directly killing a loved one of one of the heroes in the past and he has tentacles despite being an insectoid.
  • Galactic Conqueror: As the leader of the Insecto Armada, Pinsar has conquered numerous worlds and turns his attention to United Equestria.
  • General Failure: As competent as he is as a fighter, he is a horrible tactician who sends his forces to their deaths, is fooled by Stag and is prone to pointless cruelty.
  • Generic Doomsday Villain: Basically, he's evil because his race gets off on destroying planets For the Evulz.
  • Hero Killer: He might be an awful commander, but he is the first villain in the present who is stronger than Lightning's Enticorn, has killed one of Celesto's best friends and came very close to killing Celesto himself.
  • It's Personal: Celesto hates Pinsar more than most enemies because he killed one of Celesto's original Space Ponies who happened to be a close friend. Likewise, Pinsar seeks revenge on Celesto for destroying his fleet and stranding him on a deserted planet.
  • Papa Wolf: He's worried sick when Phoebe runs away. Stag tricks him into a Roaring Rampage of Revenge against Starfleet by telling him that they captured her.
  • Unholy Matrimony: He and his wife genuinely love each other, and both share a taste for conquest and destruction.
  • Villainous Parental Instinct: He's overprotective of his daughter and partially serves Titan to protect her. Also, even a lie about his daughter being kidnapped can make him go berserk.

    Queen Ladybird
She's King Pinsar's wife and Princess Pheobe's mother, shares her husbands's ideals.

    Princess Phoebe
She's the arrogant daughter of King Pinsar and Queen Ladybird. However, she actually goes through a small Character Development arc... which is promptly dropped after its conclusion.
  • Avenging the Villain: She continues the fight against Starfleet to avenge her father's death at Celesto's hand. Her mother is included as well when she dies at the hands of Grand Celestial Ruler.
  • Bee Afraid: Is a bumblebee Insecto.
  • Benevolent Boss: In contrast to her dad, she never executes her troops unless it's absolutely necessary, when she lets her mom do so. She forgives Jetar for his failure at least once.
  • Cruel Mercy: Starfleet imprisons Phoebe instead of killing her to make her suffer the same pain she inflicted on them (whatever that was) as long as she is imprisoned.
  • Daddy's Little Villain: Although much to her frustration, daddy never gives her a chance to prove it until he dies.
  • Dragon Ascendant: After Pinsar succumbs to his injuries, he bestows his power upon her and her mother, and Phoebe takes over as leader of the Armada.
  • Expy: Of Trakeena, being the daughter of the leader of insectoid aliens who tries to avenge his death after the heroes kill him.
  • Flanderization: Initially, Phoebe has a couple of distinguishing traits, such as her desire to prove herself and a fixation on beauty. She eventually loses all of these and becomes another generic villain after Pinsar dies.
  • Rebellious Princess: She's developed a rebellious streak due to her father's overprotectiveness and neglect, and eventually runs away from home.
  • Spoiled Brat: Courtesy of Pinsar; however, he's otherwise a neglectful parent, which doesn't sit well with her. She eventually grows out of it, though.
  • Villainous Princess: She's a princess and she's evil.
  • "Well Done, Daughter!" Girl: Despite being forbidden from fighting Starfleet by her father, Phoebe takes the fight to them a couple of times anyway to try and prove her worth to him.

    General Stag and General Slick
They're evil and Stag wants to be the leader of the Insecto Armada instead of Pinsar. Slick is much meeker.
  • The Dog Bites Back: Slick has enough of Stag being a toxic friend to him towards the end and lets him be executed.
  • Expy: Stag is one of Deviot. A general of the Big Bad who wants to take command and he gets his boss killed by tricking him into believing his daughter has been captured by the heroes.
  • One-Steve Limit: Averted once again. A month before Season V's release, Starfleet Humans: Starpops featured a member of the Demonites also named Slick.
  • Slaying Mantis: Slick is one.
  • The Starscream: Stag plots to dethrone Pinsar and take over the armada for himself. Slick doesn't want any part of it, but Stag forces him to keep quiet.

    Jetar

  • Interspecies Romance: Again, with Phoebe, once they kiss.
  • Ship Tease: With Phoebe. They are often seen together and act affectionate towards each other.

    Black Dragon Knight
She's evil, thinks Spike is a disgrace to dragonkind, and wants to take him down a notch.
  • Luke, I Am Your Father: Her true identity is Scaley, daughter of the Dragon Knight and sister to Spike.
  • Mirror Match: She copied the Dragon Knight's powers, allowing her to match Spike blow for blow. She even duplicates his Majestic Dragon Super Mode.
  • Samus Is a Girl: Black Dragon Knight is actually female, although it's not much of a twist as it's revealed in her first appearance.
  • Strong Family Resemblance: Looks similar to Spike save for her red spines.
  • Suspiciously Similar Substitute: Black Dragon Knight is a villain not affiliated with the Big Bad, who specifically seeks to fight one of the heroes for personal reasons, with their final battle taking place in a volcano and being ended by the hero's Super Mode. Note that this description also applies to Harkin.
  • Voluntary Shapeshifting: She can transform into other ponies, as demonstrated in her debut on Lightning Dawn. However, Spike is able to sniff her out.

    Chang and Chin
Two Tiaman thieves who attack Ping-Lo's temple to steal what they think is treasure below.
  • The Dividual: You can cut out one of them and the plot would barely change.
  • Stuff Blowing Up: They wield bazookas as their primary weapons and also use a lot of dynamite to destroy the temple.
  • Would Hurt a Child: Neither have any problem locking up Sango with the others.

Season VI

    Windy Bag
She wants to return Equestria to the way it was and wants Pony Mykan dead so she can get his fortune.
  • Abusive Mom: She isn't above abusing her own son.
  • Arch-Enemy: Of Mykan Stevens's pony counterpart. The grudge between them drives much of her subplot.
  • Arc Villainess: She's the closest thing Season VI has to a Big Bad.
  • Greed: She wants to kill Pony!Mykan so she can acquire his fortune and property.
  • I Die Free: After the ray that should de-brainwash the Equestrians fails, she turns it into a Death Ray because she thinks death would be preferable to living in a world ruled by Starfleet.
  • Jerkass: Presented as impatient and impolite, mainly towards Starfleet and her pro-Starfleet son. She also tries to murder Pony Mykan to get his fortune.
  • Jumping Off the Slippery Slope: She is basically Ace Ray and Brass Bolt but even more extreme. She never becomes too evil, though, until the very end.
  • Non-Action Big Bad: Unlike most villains, Windy Bag is a normal Equestrian pony, so she avoids clashing with Starfleet for the most part. In fact, she, according to invokedWord of God, is the weakest Arc Villain.
  • She Who Fights Monsters: She is going to go to extreme lengths to kick out the racist Starfleet, even abusing her son and trying to blow up United Equestria. And she might oppose the selfish Pony Mykan, but she gets as far as attempting to murder him for his fortune.
  • Take That, Critics!: She's the Arch-Enemy of an Author Avatar and is specifically opposed to Starfleet, so there's your clue as to who Windy Bag is supposed to represent.
  • Well-Intentioned Extremist: Her goal is to bring back the old Equestria, by freeing the Equestrian ponies from their brainwashing and driving Starfleet out... and builds a Wave-Motion Gun to do so. In the end, she tries to blow up the planet because she prefers it over a life under Starfleet.
  • Your Terrorists Are Our Freedom Fighters: She strives to free Equestria from Starfleet; they label her a criminal.

    Kitty Snap
A villainess.
  • Animal Motifs: Cats.
  • Cats Are Mean: A cat who mind controls people.
  • Paper Tiger: While she is the last named opponent to go down, she is useless without her mind control. She is teased that she nearly made Celesto and Celestia kill each other, but they faked it to lure all monsters in United Equestria, feigning weakness.
  • The Trickster: And she ends up tricking both Celesto and Celestia into turning evil. Or so she thinks.

Power Rangers Starfleet

    Vulcan
An evil planet broker.

    Marla

    Bronc

  • Genius Bruiser: He's mainly a fighter, but he's also good with machinery and tech.
  • Fighter, Mage, Thief: The fighter in this case, as he is quite brutish.
  • Token Good Teammate: He's the calmest of the three (though it's not saying much) and sympathizes with the prisoners' plight.

    Keto

Power Rangers SUPER Starfleet

    Nuclav

A Tale of Two Sunsets

    Richard and Jewel

Season VII

    Sienna
Aside from being obsessed with treasure, she's pretty much interchangeable with any of the previous villains. She is actually somewhat less evil, but even her caring about her family is similar to Pinsar.
  • Ambiguously Brown: Described as having tan (as in light brown) skin and curly hair when Mykan Stevens, who's based on the white Canadian Mykan, had peach skin. However, unlike Mykan, she's not from anywhere on Earth.
  • Big Bad: Of Season VII.
  • Big Sister Instinct: One of her primary traits is her protectiveness over her brother Mako, to the point where she exiled Slash for endangering Mako.
  • The Corruption: Courtesy of her search for the Elements of Chaos. She snaps out of it at the end.
  • Dark Action Girl: As is requisite for most villains in the series, Sienna can put up a fight.
  • Even Evil Has Loved Ones: Genuinely loves her younger brother Mako.
  • Freudian Excuse: She and Mako were orphaned at a young age, then enslaved by alien bandits, and subjected to treatment so horrible, all of the other slaves died from overwork and/or abuse from the bandits. Eventually, Sienna snapped and killed her enslavers, before taking control of the ship.
  • Good Hair, Evil Hair: She has curly hair, and is the Big Bad.
  • Had to Be Sharp: How else could she survive taking constant physical abuse during enslavement for both herself and her brother?
  • Heel–Face Turn: Surrenders to Starfleet and reunites with Mako... before both get sent to prison.
  • Large and in Charge: Sienna is mentioned to be tall, and she's the captain of a gang of bandits.
  • Long-Lived: Is well over 200 years old, yet there's no sign of aging. This trait is inherent of her species.
  • Pirate Girl: A space Pirate Girl, no less. Wait, this sounds familiar...
  • Suspiciously Similar Substitute: To Princess Avyanna as they are both female Space Pirates.
  • White Hair, Black Heart: Has silver hair, and is Season VII's Big Bad.

    Mako

  • Ambiguously Brown: Has tan skin like his sister, but isn't even human.
  • Big Sister Worship: Adores his older sister.
  • Bratty Half-Pint: Was this to Slash in one episode. He later grows out of it.
  • Character Development: Was initially out for revenge like his sister, and idolizes Sienna. However, Starfleet taught him that taking out his wrath on other people was wrong, and Mako eventually turns against his sister when he realizes she's too obsessed with the Elements of Chaos to care about anything else.
  • Heel–Face Turn: Is reformed by Starfleet and reunites with Sienna. He still gets sent to jail despite being a minor though.
  • Long-Lived: Is more than 200 years old, and still a child.
  • Morality Pet: To Sienna. Later, Omnisha warms up to him.

    Omnisha

  • Amazing Technicolor Population: Red skin, specifically. Amusingly, she also has plain brown hair.
  • Crystal Ball: Has two, a newer one that was shattered at the start of Season VII, and an older one she uses for the rest of the season.
  • Even Evil Has Standards: Gets increasingly disturbed by Slash and Sienna's increasingly callous behavior, to the point where she starts to worry for Mako.

    Slash

    Batlings

  • Bat Out of Hell: They're mutated vampire fruit bats.
  • Dark Is Evil: They're creatures of the night who want to harm others.
  • Luke, I Am Your Father: According to this blog, Shade and Ebany are Bright Mac and Pear Butter respectively.
  • Orwellian Retcon: Shade used to be named Negro but people pointed out the negative connotations of that term so Mykan changed it.
  • Remember the New Guy?: Nightwing is the son to Bright Mac and Pear Butter, and thus a brother of Applejack, Big MacIntosh, and Apple Bloom. There has been no mention of him before.
  • Theme Naming: Their names (Shade, Ebany and Nightwing) all reference darkness.

    Morpheus
Only exists to terrorize Seaquestria and get bumped off by Starfleet.

Season VIII

    Stammadon
He's a power-hungry warmonger who hates the weak.
  • Animal Motifs: Lions. He has a lion head, and his Blaze of the Flare King is a giant lion-shaped flame.
  • Animalistic Abomination: For a given amount of "abomination". His true form has the head of a lion and dragon heads for hands, and is the size of a small mountain.
  • Bad Boss: This is a plot point. He is actually not so mean to his underlings by himself, but Ka Hotake makes him more and more abusive. However, closer to the end, he starts downplaying this. Any aversions are the result of Striker's influence.
  • Big Bad: Of season VIII.
  • Blood Knight: He loves fighting tough foes and getting stronger.
  • Demonic Possession: He possesses Striker when released.
  • Equal-Opportunity Evil: For a Social Darwinist, he apparently has no qualms hiring females (Tan, Zenia, En, Blastra/Blastar, Emosha) or a dwarf (Kara Shi). His army in general is ironically much more diverse than Starfleet, which is mostly space ponies or Equestrians, and token minority species.
  • Eviler than Thou: To Ka Hotake.
  • Fatal Flaw: Pride. While his prejudice isn't shown much in practice, his massive ego is shown a lot.
  • Irony: He's a Social Darwinist, yet one of his highest ranking minions has dwarfism, and his army is overall more diverse than the heroes', for all the latter preach about equality. Probably because he judges by strength and not race.
  • One-Man Army: In the final battle, he assumes his true form and even the Grand Ruler can't best him in a duel. Starfleet tries to bring him down by bringing more and more reinforcements, and they still need the Pure Inner Strength to win, which comes from their numbers. He is a challenge to an entire army alone, even though most of said army was weakened beforehand.
  • Orcus on His Throne: Notable for being the only Big Bad to avert this, as he fights Starfleet several times. He always nearly wins because he starts weak and trains until he reaches his full power.
  • Pretend to Be Brainwashed: Ka Hotake tries to brainwash him but he merely does this.
  • Sealed Evil in a Can: He was sealed away long ago by warriors from the planet Ainzul, whose queen chose Starfleet to guard him due to the Ainzulian people turning to ways of peace. They chose poorly; due to Starfleet failing to properly apprehend Striker, Stammadon breaks free.
  • The Social Darwinist: Believes that the strong deserve to rule and the weak deserve to be destroyed.
  • Why Don't You Just Shoot Him?: Even he admits he should have killed Striker right after he was forced out of him.

    Rai Shi

  • Blood Knight: He loves fighting, and his motivation for turning evil is solely to be seen as a competent fighter.
  • The Brute: The strongest Shi and least fleshed out, he is the brawn of Stammadon's forces.
  • The Generic Guy: One of the more extreme examples, he's the only minion whose backstory doesn't play a major role in his characterization (En was raised her whole life to be a killer, Kara was bullied for being short until he snapped and killed his bullies, Tan lived in a misogynistic family which led her to become a misandrist, Rai... was a kung fu fighter who fell on hard times? And it takes the final fight to find out how it influenced him!). He's also the only minion who doesn't do something important in the season (En obsessing over Swift, Kara sacrificing himself to save Tan, Tan's small character arc). Except hold his ground in the final fight, leading a siege along with his Rock Gators, and weaken a group of heroes. Ironically, he falls last of the Shis.
  • Genius Bruiser: His role is to be physically powerful and the voice of reason among the Shis.
  • Good Old Fisticuffs: Even his special abilities are hard punches.
  • Graceful Loser: "At least I fought well"
  • Inferiority Superiority Complex: He was a martial artist who fell on hard times. As he leads the siege of United Equestria, it's implied very heavily that he became a general of Stammadon because he wants to be acknowledged as strong and a good fighter.
  • Killer Gorilla: Rai Shi. Technically an ape, but close enough. Also able to take on four heroes at once.
  • Only Sane Man: All other Shis are defined by their obsessions. One is a Yandere, another can't control his bloodlust, and the third one has a nasty prejudice against men. He often acts as the voice of reason between them, despite being focused on brute strength, and despite having his own obsession with being acknowledged as a good fighter.
  • No Sympathy: Portrayed as wrong by Lightning and Starla for not getting another job after losing a tournament. However, he also mentioned that he was regularly humiliated by his own former fans despite still being an accomplished fighter and, despite continuing his job, was in poverty by the time he met Stammadon. Not once do they consider that poor treatment may have been a factor in Rai's Start of Darkness.
  • The Siege: Considering only his fighting prowess is fleshed out, his moment to shine comes when he leads one against United Equestria.

    En Shi

  • Abhorrent Admirer: To Swift Star, not because of her looks, but because of her attitude.
  • Abusive Mom: Her mother is the primary reason En Shi turned out the way she did, from encouraging her to hunt monsters as a child, to dragging her to Stammadon's army. It's also implied En Shi's emotional immaturity came from her mother's abuse.
  • All Love Is Unrequited: To Swift Star.
  • Beauty Is Bad: She's described as beautiful and is one of the most despicable villains in the series.
  • Captive Date: Does this to Swift Star thrice.
  • Contrasting Sequel Antagonist: Most of the other villains are merely overlords who send monsters to gather fear, or strawmen. And there is En Shi, who has no problem sexually assaulting someone.
  • Death by Origin Story: Both of her parents. Her father was killed by a sea monster before she was born, and her mother died in battle under Stammadon.
  • Double Standard Rape: Female on Male: An aversion. Her sexually assaulting a kidnapped Swift Star is not depicted as funny or okay.
  • Enemy Mine: She helps kill Ka Hotake and destroy his Raging Conga with the protagonists (who are her enemies).
  • Even Bad Women Love Their Mamas: While she's certainly evil, En Shi seems to genuinely miss her mother.
  • Even Evil Has Loved Ones: She's loyal enough to Stammadon that she's the first to jump to his aid when Ka Hatoke mind controls him while Rai and Tan would rather leave him be. And while her love for Swift is toxic, she really doesn't think so.
  • Evil Cannot Comprehend Good: She can't understand neither Swift's way of thinking, nor true love, and she is aware of it.
  • Evil Is Deathly Cold: Comes with being An Ice Person who can summon a cold tsunami, but she's not a nice person.
  • Expy: She is an expy of Esdeath with Swift as her Tatsumi. Like Esdeath, En Shi is a general of the main villain who can use ice powers, is completely sadistic, is really obsessed with a male protagonist, whom she wants strong but still easy to dominate, and his smile triggers her obsession, she tries to force herself on him, and both insist on changing the other person, but know they reach a dead end. She believes the weak deserve to die, raised that way by her family, and he sees her as a complete monster. Even some of their quotes are the same!
En Shi: Starting from today you will be mine and mine alone.
En Shi: Let's go somewhere we can be alone.
  • First Love: Enforced. Another one of En's requirements is that her lover has no love interests before her.
  • Green-Skinned Space Babe: Though not green, En Shi is an alien pony (not a Space Pony, though) described as being beautiful, making her the equine equivalent of this.
  • Hate Sink: The only Shi to be called irredeemable by Swift and the author, and one of the few Starfleet villains who are truly despicable, even if Swift wasn't 16 years old.
  • Hoist by Her Own Petard: Ends up freezing herself and becoming easy to capture because she was that obsessed with Swift Star.
  • An Ice Person: One of her primary abilities. Her ice walls are thick and her Hail Storm is hard to dodge.
  • In Love with Love: Is extremely obsessed with the idea of being in a relationship. However, her relationship with Swift turns out to be anything but ideal, as she repeatedly advances on him without regard to what he wants, suggesting En's more infatuated with the concept of love than her designated lover.
  • Jerkass: It's safe to say she's not a very nice person. She even hits her designated lover whenever he says something she doesn't like.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: After she tries to freeze herself and Swift, Lightning frees only him. Thus, she freezes herself because of her unhealthy obsession and ends up being the easiest Shi to capture.
  • Lecherous Licking: She licks Swift Star's ear.
  • Light Is Not Good: According to the narration, she sports a white vest. She also plays Beauty Is Bad straight.
  • Like Goes with Like: Also enforced. One of En's requirements for her future husband is that he should be a pony-like creature like her.
  • Love Makes You Crazy: Oh yeah. She becomes a very entitled Yandere towards Swift Star.
  • Loving a Shadow: The only reason she's interested in Swift Star is because he fulfilled all seven of her requirements to be her suitor, without any regard for what Swift is as a person.
  • Making a Splash: One of her primary abilities. She can summon a cold tsunami. This also makes her able to stop Dyno and Myte from just melting her ice walls.
  • Palette Swap: Explicitly stated to look like Celestia with blue hair, and without wings or a horn.
  • Post-Kiss Catatonia: Is so distracted by being kissed by Swift Star that he uses it to his advantage.
  • Psychopathic Womanchild: A ruthless soldier on the outside, a psychologically stunted nutjob with a very unhealthy take on love on the inside.
  • Sadist: "Your trembling will only make your demise the [sic] more satisfying.".
  • Satellite Love Interest: A rare example of the subject in question being a villain and an Abhorrent Admirer. Nevertheless, she qualifies to the extreme by having the vast majority of her appearances after episode 10 revolve around her crush on Swift Star. It's also telling that a huge chunk of her bio is about her obsession with Swift Star.
    • Demoted to Satellite Love Interest: Prior to episode 10, she was just another one of Stammadon's generals. Afterwards, she is defined by her obsession towards Swift Star.
  • Single Woman Seeks Good Man: Villainous example, with all of the implications this brings.
  • Social Darwinist: Blames her paremts for dying because they were weak. Her mother did deserve to die, but because she groomed her to have this attitude. Even Kara Shi gets seen by her the same way. Her criteria for a perfect mate also require strength.
  • Stalker with a Crush: To Swift Star. Notice a pattern?
  • Stalking is Love: In her head, her obsession towards Swift is pure love.
  • Tiny Guy, Huge Girl: Explicitly stated to be taller than Swift Star.
    • One Head Taller: Specifically, tall enough to rest her head on Swift Star's head.
  • Token Evil Teammate: Is certainly the most sadistic of the four, a Yandere, and the only one of the Shis to be explicitly called irredeemable.
  • Undying Loyalty: She is very loyal to Stammadon, takes his side over Ka Hotake's and even her obsession with Swift Star does not make her think of betraying Stammadon.
  • Villainesses Want Heroes: A general to Stammadon who falls for Swift Star.
  • Villainous Crush: En Shi is enamored with Swift Star.
  • Yandere: Towards Swift Star. She kidnaps him more than once and her love is pure obsession.
  • Younger than She Looks: She's a Palette Swap of the fully grown Celestia, yet is implied to be younger than most of the heroes bar Swift (who's 16), and they're all in their early-to-mid twenties, judging by her telling some of them that they are not her type (she prefers her date to be younger than her, among other things) and they're all young adults, and her musings about her mother and past strongly point to her being in her late-teens]] at youngest, like saying that she just discovered new feelings she doesn't fully comprehend and that she still needs her mother.

    Kara Shi

  • All of the Other Reindeer: Thanks to his shortness, people used to torment him for it until he killed them all.
  • Ax-Crazy: In episode 4, he gets excited at the prospect of attacking civilians. It stops when he accidentally cuts a banner.
  • Berserk Button: Don't mock his dwarfism.
  • Blood Knight: Very enthusiastic about fighting, to the point he even annoys the other Shis and makes Rai Shi look subtle.
  • The Ditz: A running gag is that he often doesn't understand Stammadon's plans, leading Tan Shi to hit him on the head.
  • Everything's Better with Samurai: Though given that he was exiled from his home beforehand, shouldn't he be a ronin?
  • Freudian Excuse: He was bullied for his dwarfism and it made him a murderer.
  • Gratuitous Ninja: Somewhat justified by the Far East theme of Ainzul.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: Jumps at the blast meant for Tan Shi, getting imprisoned in the process.
  • Hot-Blooded: He's noted to be impulsive and quick to anger.
  • Humanoid Aliens: Kara Shi is simply described as "humanoid".
  • The Napoleon: Is loud, energetic, and touchy about his height due to his past.
  • Pint-Sized Powerhouse: Noted to be very small for his species, but makes up for it with his speed and stealth, and is strong enough to damage his enemies.
  • Plucky Comic Relief: The closest the villains have to one. He's The Ditz who has perved on two different characters, gets hit in the head multiple times for being slow on the upkeep, was made fun of for his short temper, and the one time he acts genuinely Ax-Crazy, he bungles it by cutting a banner by accident.
  • Ship Tease: Judging by his blushing at En Shi, and his annoyance at her choosiness, it's implied he may have feelings for her. This never goes anywhere. In fact, he has more chemistry with Tan Shi.
  • Shock and Awe: One of his attacks involves electricity.
  • Straight Man and Wise Guy: The Wise Guy to Tan's Straight Woman.
  • Super-Speed: His main ability.
  • Unfortunate Names: "Karashi" is Japanese for "mustard".

    Tan Shi

    Ka Hotake

  • Big Bad Wannabe: He thinks Stammadon is his pawn, and as his master, he is the true leader of Stammadon's forces. Not only does he give too many red flags, but he is not as powerful and clever as he thinks he is, or compared to Stammadon.
  • Chronic Backstabbing Disorder: In his backstory, he always was betraying, robbing and killing even his own followers. He didn't learn his lesson with Stammadon, even though this practice got him sealed the first time. So, it backfires twice.
  • Composite Character: Of all three Overlords: his first meeting with Stammadon matches Carnisoar's meeting with Dai Shi, both he and Jellica were turned on by the Big Bad's Elite Four, and he shares Grizzaka's arrogance and Starscream tendences who overthrows the Big Bad temporarily.
  • Evil Mentor: To Stammadon until his betrayal.
  • Expy: Of Carnisoar. His first meeting with Stammadon is a direct lift from Carnisoar's meeting with Dai Shi. Stammadon releases Ka Hotake to train him to become more powerful. He agrees and tells Stammadon that he is weighed down by the good in his host's (Striker's) heart.
  • Horned Humanoid: Has two bull horns on his head.
  • Killer Gorilla: Summons one when sending a brainwashed Stammadon to attack Canterlot. The Raging Conga is one of the most dangerous monsters of the week.
  • King of Thieves: Proclaimed to be one by by Mowaza and himself.
  • Manipulative Bastard: He successfully manipulates Stammadon.
  • One-Man Army: While his schemes are very flawed, he does beat a wave of Starfleet guards alone and a second one with the help of two Shis.
  • Red and Black and Evil All Over: He sports a red and black changpao, and has no redeeming traits.
  • Sealed Evil in a Can: Was sealed many years ago then freed by Stammadon.
  • Smug Snake: Thinks he can outwit the powerful demon Stammadon. He's proven wrong. He also had senselessly betrayed his own apprentices with no exceptions or restraint. That also had bit him hard.
  • The Starscream: Trains Stammadon with the intent of brainwashing him.
  • Stupid Evil: He lacks stubtlety when he betrays his apprentices and does so too often. Since this practice backfires for him the same way twice, once in the past and once in the present, it really is a bad idea.

    Megadox
He's an evil Computer Virus who sees organic lifeforms as inferior.
  • Card-Carrying Villain: He plays it straight, in spite of how a real computer virus would act.
  • Computer Virus: A living one.
  • Evil Duo: Forms one with Data Stream. He leans more towards the Id, as his main goal is to simply cause as much destruction in cyberspace as possible.
  • Evil Is Petty: He attacks schools and hospitals, in one case endangering newborns without Data Stream telling him to. He also betrays Data Stream with little provocation.
  • Fantastic Racism: To organic lifeforms, which he calls "Fleshlings".
  • Smug Snake: He is a decent schemer and actually puts civilians in danger, but has a massive ego and believes he can easily push around the hacker he works with. Betraying her turns out to be a very bad idea.
  • Third Act Stupidity: In Chapters 18 and 19, he shows he can be quite intelligent and machinates a cunning plan where he tracks down the Surfer and the Data Squad to get their identities and destroy the programs before they can act against him. And it works. However, this victory goes to his head in Chapter 20 and he proceeds to start making fatal mistakes.
  • The Worf Effect: He is much stronger than his monsters, being the only one able to beat both Super Modes of the Data Squad in a straight fight, while his monsters could never beat even one of them. Thus, he has to be outsmarted.

Season IX

    King Von Devilor
He's evil and wants to take over the heroes' dimension.Click here to see spoilers

    Dearka
He's villainous and the target of Pinkie's affections is the most that can be said of his personality. Later, his love for Calista comes forth.Click here to see spoilers
  • Aerith and Bob: "Dearka" is certainly far less familiar than "Scarlet".
  • All Love Is Unrequited: Pinkie falls in love with him, but he doesn't even comprehend the idea of love, much less reciprocate it.
  • Blue Boy, Pink Girl: Well, red in this case, but he still has blue hair and eyes to contrast Scarlet's red hair.
  • Curtains Match the Window: Blue hair, blue eyes.
  • Death by Origin Story: Either way, his parents are long dead.
  • Demon of Human Origin: As recently as 10 years ago, he was a Vistulan before meeting Von Devilor.
  • Fake Memories: Implied. If "True Tall Tales" is of any indication, then his memory of revisiting Vistula was fabricated; his parents died seventeen years ago and Calista spurned the winner of the Ultimate Challenge.
  • Freudian Excuse: He was in love with Princess Calista, but was forced to leave Vistula after losing a rigged match of the Ultimate Challenge. His own parents turned him into an Unperson, and even got a Replacement Goldfish. He snapped and joined Von Devilor's forces as a result.
  • Heel–Face Turn: Turns against Von Devilor after he learns that his memories were altered and Calista dies because of Von Devilor.
  • I Have No Son!: After losing the Ultimate Challenge 10 years ago, his own parents rejected him, even going as far as to replace him with a child who is also named Dearka and looks exactly like him.
  • Occult Blue Eyes: Blue eyes? Check. Is a demon from another dimension? Check.
  • Redemption Equals Death: Notable for being a Mykan villain and averting this.
  • What Is This Thing You Call "Love"?: Being a demon who's out to destroy love, he doesn't quite understand the concept of it. Until the end, where his anger against his master does not power him, and Agapi suggests it's coming from love.

    Scarlet
An evil demoness who rivals with Dearka.

    Daybreaker
Wants to plunge the world into eternal daylight, and that's it.

Season X

    Starlight Glimmer

  • Actually a Doombot: She makes a clone just as powerful as her and with some of her consciousness so she won't be in real danger.
  • Adaptational Villainy: Even when she was a villain in the original show, she was more of a misguided Well-Intentioned Extremist. Here, she willingly sides with Titan to help him take over the universe so she can destroy Celestia. Though she still turns out to be misguided.
  • Bad Boss: She is worse to Titan's Trio than Titan himself. Once Titan is finished using her, he allows the Trio to get revenge.
  • Disproportionate Retribution: Even more so than in the original show. Here, her motivations for turning evil are that was that she was jealous that Twilight Sparkle became Princess Celestia's student instead of her. She held onto this grudge for 20 years.
  • Dragon with an Agenda: She serves Titan for personal reasons and is his de facto apprentice.
  • Green-Eyed Monster: Became so jealous that Twilight became Princess Celestia's student, she turned evil and sided with Titan to get revenge.
  • The Heavy: Titan is the Big Bad, but she plays a far more direct role in Season X.
  • Heel–Face Turn: Helps Starfleet defeat Titan after he betrays her and she finds that he was the one who killed her parents, whilst also being motivated by repaying Swift Star for the kindness he showed her.
  • Raise Her Right This Time: Gets turned into an infant by the end of Season X with no memories of her previous life. Starfleet put her up for adoption so she can have a new life with a new family.
  • Suspiciously Similar Substitute:
    • To Raven. She's a unicorn mare who lost at least one loved one in the past, blames Celestia for the death(s), and turned evil because of it. She is stated to be powerful and dangerous, and at one point sided with one of the main villains to achieve her goals. This description applies to both Starlight and Raven.
    • Starlight is also this to En Shi. Both are tall, ruthless, and powerful mares who have dead parents, Co-Dragons who hate them, and are deemed attractive by Swift Star. They are also connected to Swift Star by a romantic attraction.
    • Is also quite similar to Dearka from the previous season. Both were exiled from their homes and were then manipulated by the Big Bad into becoming their Dragons. Members of Starfleet fell in love with both of them and neither of them got along with their Co-Dragons. They also both performed a Heel–Face Turn on their masters after they (or in Starlight's case, learned that they) killed loved ones of theirs.
  • Why Don't You Just Shoot Him?: She doesn't want to wait until Titan's plan is complete and tries, by herself, to murder Celestia before she can become an adult again. Titan eventually lets her do so freely.
  • You Killed My Father: Both her parents died whilst in exile from Equestria. Starlight blames Celestia for their deaths and seeks to avenge them. It's later revealed that Titan was the one who killed them to manipulate Starlight into joining him. When Starlight learns this, she joins the fight to defeat Titan.

    The United Alliance of Evil
Titan's forces in Season X. Specter, Razor and Waverline are analyzed in the folder of their old names.
  • Badass Biker: A very fast monster has a motorcycle that allows him to outspeed everyone in Starfleet.
  • Better to Die than Be Killed: They blow themselves up so they won't be captured and mind probed.
  • Blind Obedience: The measures they take to not betray Titan horrify even Starfleet.
  • Brainwashed and Crazy: Some cops are forced to work for Titan this way.
  • Card-Carrying Villain: Their name says it all really.
  • Evil Counterpart: Poette is one for Rhymey and duels him and the now rhyming Fluttershy to the death.
  • Glass Cannon: Some members have truly fearsome abilities but go down in very few hits.
  • Kick the Dog: They use slaves to gather energy, and are very abusive to them.
  • The Mole: A mayor who hates Starfleet for supposedly being conquerors turns out to work for Titan and be an imposter.
  • Monster of the Week: All members except Specter, Razor and Waverline. They don't last longer than one episode each.
  • Mooks: The Darquines are their basic soldiers, and not much of a threat.
  • A Nazi by Any Other Name: Murderous beings who have a very fanatical Cult of Personality towards Titan, even worse than Starfleet who are merely white saviors. The Alliance members have blown up planets, lied about doing their atrocities for a good purpose, have slaves and are horrible to them, and are willing to literally kill themselves for their master.
  • No Endor Holocaust: Justified in one case. Multiple monsters blow themselves up at once and would burn the nearby forest, but Starfleet actively takes measures to stop the destruction early.
  • Self-Duplication: Multi-Plus can make clones out of several things, from energy generators to Starlight herself.

    Beaker

  • Bad Boss: He's perfectly fine with drowning his fellow IDIOTS if it gives him the chance to stall Starfleet so he can enact his plan.
  • Ditzy Genius: He's a scientist and a former honor student but failed to notice that the acronym of his organization stands for "IDIOTS" until the others point it out.
  • Evil Genius: He's an ambitious scientist who wants to kick out Starfleet.
  • Freudian Excuse: Along with seeing Starfleet as tyrants who were responisble for Equestria's destruction, he has another, more personal reason for despising them. Before Titan's invasion, he was on the verge of making several scientific breakthroughs that would have improved technology in Equestria. However, Starfleet then showed up and their technology and equipment surpassed everything he could have made, losing him his chance at fame within the scientific community.
  • Kick the Dog: He leaves his teammates to drown to make sure he doesn't delay the activation of his machine.
  • Mad Scientist: A brilliant inventor who is supposed to be insane.
  • Right for the Wrong Reasons: He considers Starfleet tyrants who caused all the problems in United Equestria and are now oppressing the Equestrians by lying about how they saved them from Titan. While Starfleet didn't cause Titan's invasion and actually helped stop him, they still use that as an excuse to oppress and belittle the Equestrians.
  • Spiteful Spit: Does this to Swift Star after he gives him a "Reason You Suck" Speech for his plan during his trial.
  • Well-Intentioned Extremist: Is willing to use a hate-fuelled machine to drive out what he and his allies believe are dangers to the whole planet.
  • Would Hurt a Child: He tries to drown the CMC after they attack his lair so he can stall Starfleet.

    Paige

  • Badass Normal: She has no powers whatsoever and still has the guts to try and take on Starfleet. She loses badly, but still.
  • White Hair, Black Heart: She has white hair and is a strawman who hates Starfleet.

    Grimer

  • The Brute: Implied to be one, as he's a huge, buff sewer worker. He also acts as a bouncer for the IDIOTS.
  • Overshadowed by Awesome: Grimer might be strong, but Starfleet beats him easily because they have been trained to face Titan and other very powerful entities.
  • Would Hurt a Child: During the attack on the IDIOTS' lair, he punches, kicks, and even swings his wrench at Daphne Dil (though she's able to dodge every strike).

    Sun Dew

  • Evil Redhead: Orange mane, and a villainess.
  • Light Is Not Good: Yellow with an orange mane and a sun-themed name, and she's supposed to be a villain.
  • Meaningful Name: Sun Dew's name can be one of both good (light themed) and evil (the carnivorous plant). She is also a character who can be seen as both good and evil depending on the reader.

    Dodger

  • Cloudcuckoolander: He's an airheaded guy whose idea of an Evil Plan is setting up a disco dance.
  • The Cuckoolander Was Right: In "Dance-Dance Solution", his plan of setting up a dance party actually does manage to help the IDIOTS by gaining more power for Beaker's machine. By getting members of Starfleet and Starfleet supporters in the same place as Starfleet protestors for the party, the protestors see Starfleet's dancing as showing off, get angerd by them and unknowingly power the machine.
  • Minion with an F in Evil: He isn't even bad enough to be a strawman.
  • Not-So-Harmless Villain: Usually, he is hardly a threat, but he machinates a plan that's so subtle it makes even Swift Star, who normally sees through manipulations quickly, unwittingly help. The plan succeeds without a hitch.
  • Totally Radical: His speech has shades of this, dropping words like "groove", "slammed", and "uncool".

Season XI

    Zadovia

  • Disc-One Final Boss: She is built as the Big Bad until Chapter 12 reveals she is The Dragon to Phantasma.
  • Four Eyes, Zero Soul: The bespectacled main enforcer of the Nightmares of XI.
  • The Heavy: Of Season XI. She is the principal who leads the nightmares. Though she serves Phantasma, she is the more active and prominent villain, and until Episode 12, there is no indication she isn't the Big Bad.
  • Me's a Crowd: She can make a whole army of clones of herself.
  • Multi-Armed and Dangerous: Has four arms and is the leader of the nightmares.
  • No-Sell: She and her forces are immune to everything but the sword pieces she is after.
  • Sadist Teacher: The dean of an evil school, she enforces its corrupt ways. Unlike her apprentices, she is even the dream of an actual sadist dean.
  • White Hair, Black Heart: Has white hair and is the active enemy leader of XI.

    Magi

  • Amazing Technicolor Population: Averted: unlike her fellow villains, she has normally colored skin (peach, specifically).
  • The Dragon: The most active minion of Zadovia so far.
  • Sadist Teacher: Has no problem with accidentally hitting her students, after all, they aren't alive!
  • Sore Loser: She complains that the Grand Celestial Ruler cheated when they stop the ghoul horde from reaching the city. Even the narrative calls her reaction whining.

    Emcee

    Mash

    Lil's Ghost/Little Jewel

    Lady Phantasma (Major Unmarked Spoilers)

  • Big Bad: The true villain of Season XI.
  • Greater-Scope Villain: She is out of focus for half of the story and the founder of the evil school, so the current dean acts as the visible antagonist.
  • Lotus-Eater Machine: She traps everyone from Starfleet into their greatest desires.
  • Made of Evil: All nightmares are corrupted dreams, but she is made out of the corruption itself.
  • Multi-Armed and Dangerous: Her physical form gets four arms and is also a significant threat to Starfleet.
  • Nice Job Fixing It, Villain: She succeeds at becoming physical along with her forces, threatening the real world. Unfortunately for her, that means Starfleet doesn't need Arien's power anymore to stop her minions.
  • Tempting Fate: She taunts Starfleet that dreams never die. Arien makes her eat her words shortly after.
  • Unseen Evil: Her form is obscured and only her eyes and mouth are usually visible until the final battle.
  • Walking Spoiler: Her very existence is revealed in the middle of the story, after Lil' Jewel is beaten, and she only takes action in the final battle, so everything about her is a plot twist.
  • Why Don't You Just Shoot Him?: She has a moment of pragmatism where she robs Starfleet of Arien's power and makes them helpless to act against her, ensuring her victory. Sadly for her, after she accomplishes her goal, the nightmares are vulnerable once more.

Season XII

    King Flareous

    King Blizzord

  • Bad Boss: He beats up his troops even when he is not directly angry at them.
  • Expy: His powers, appearance and rivalry with a certain other king make him one of Flurious from Power Rangers Operation Overdrive.
  • An Ice Person: He is the king of the ice world.
  • Stupid Evil: He perpetuates a destructive war out of petty revenge, just like his enemy Flareous.
