Well, that all depends on how bad it is concluded out to be, doesn't it?

I already put her through a Mary Sue Litmus test, based on my recollection of all her character traits. She hit 50 points, counting only three de-sufiers.

[up] As I said, it doesn't matter. If the Fallen going to be treated like a second Disgrace, it better to get rid of it.

As I said, any complaints of a series, take it to their Forum.

[up] I agree the Castaways need to go. But before we do, we need to figure if there's anyone there to redeem

Alright, here is my draft of the Entity and Destruction. I would like to know what else I should add to them

  • Edit: Woops, didn't add Portfolio. Sorry about that, I'll get to it right away

  • Teeth-Clenched Teamwork with: Chakravartin, Shiera Hall
  • On speaking terms with: The other Deaths in the pantheon, Yveltal
  • Additional relationship with: Kyle Rayner (current representative), Thaal Sinestro and Hal Jordan
  • Enemies: Nekron, his Black Lanterns and the GUAD (particularly Nagash and the Lich), Ungoliant, Melkor, Krona, SKYNET
  • Opposes: Alex Wesker, Nurgle
  • Opposed by: Chernabog, Dhuum, the House of Undead
  • God spoke: "Let There Be Light", and there it was. The Entity is the White Light, the one from where all life began in the DC Universe. During "The Blackest Night", Nekron unearthed the Entity from within the Earth, where the Guardians found and hid it, in order to kill it and end all life in the DCU. However, Nekron was unsuccessful, as first Sinestro was its host, and then Hal Jordan and others brought back by Nekron used the White Entity to restore Black Hand to life, severing Nekron's connection to the mortal plane. Because of Nekron's actions, it was left in a dying state, and it chose four of the twelve it resurrected to become elemental embodiments to create the Swamp Thing to be the new bearer of the White Light in its stead.
    • The Entity's power ended up being spread out to other sentients as seven possible emotions and entities to embody them, who like it require a host. They are the Butcher for rage, Ophidion for avarice, Parallax for fear, Ion for willpower, Adara for hope, the Proselyte for compassion and the Predator for love. Anyone who wields the Life Entity's power is capable of using all seven emotional powers at once. The Life Entity got into the pantheon after transferring itself through the Source Wall. While unchanged, it believes the entities that joined him were recreated as some of the other gods. It came to believe that Madoka Kaname, having become hope, was a reincarnation of Adara.
  • It recently sacrificed himself alongside six of the other seven emotional entities to replenish the emotional reservoir behind the Source Wall to keep the universe from ending, as the reservoir had been depleted by the seven Lantern Corps drawing their lights from the wellspring. While The Entity is dead (for the moment), White Lantern Kyle Rayner acts as his representative in the DCU. The Entity currently resides within the Pantheon at the behest of Eru Ilúvatar, a fellow creative source.
    • As the source of life in the DC Universe, the subject of comic book deaths was brought up. The Life Entity has stated that while it can revive people, it doesn't do so unless need to be; that's why it only revived 14 of the Black Lanterns instead of all of them. Dhuum isn't happy with the Entity because of this, though obviously isn't going to try and kill it. The House of Undead aren't fond of the entity either as the white light burns through them.
  • The Life Entity is closely guarded within the House of Life, as it is feared what will happen should Nekron succeed in capturing and attempting to kill the Entity again. The lives of all characters from the DCU are connected to the Life Entity; should the Entity die, they all die. When not guarded, the Life Entity is able to use its power to restore or create life where there is none, often undoing any destruction caused by the Alliance of Destruction.
    • Asides from Nekron, the Life Entity has a number of other worries. As its life is directly connected to the life of everything that lives in the DC Universe, Nagash, the Lich and SKYNET have immediately targeted him. Krona is also interested in capturing and experimenting on the entity to discover the origin of everything. Melkor, desiring the elimination of his Creative Sterility, seeks to bind it to his will and use that power to take on Eru Illuvatar.
  • The Entity is often visited by the Emotions, to whom it is closely linked because of their connection to life itself. But it is curious as to how only one of them actually represents the same emotion as how they are colored (Anger), while the rest do not. It is considered as an elder authority figure of them, though usually lets them do whatever they want.
    • Will usually visit or associate with other life entities like itself, such as Xerneas. However it would rather not hang out with Nurgle, as it considers the Chaos God to be a perversion of life. Also has tried to get Ungoliant of its back; the Spider of Night's hunger for light sees the Life Entity as a shining buffet to glut on.
  • Closely connected with the House of Nature. In its birth the Life Entity crafted numerous stars, and brought plentiful flora and fauna into the cosmos. It crafted the Earth itself as a home, and while the Gaea of the pantheon is not the same as that Earth she does refer to the entity as a godfather of sorts. Captain Planet may be somewhat related, as like the White Lantern Kyle Rayner combines the powers of special rings.
    • As the light of life, the Life Entity hangs out in the House of Life and Darkness. There, it has found another primordial life entity in the form of Ezalor. It's unclear whether they're related or not, but they get anyway. Whenever it hangs out with Ezalor, it really frustrates Chernabog who hates the light he produces. He can't do anything about it however since killing the Life Entity would annihilate the DC universe' life and even Chernabog doesn't want that to happen.
  • No-one's sure where exactly the Life Entity came from, though most assume the Presence manifested it into creation, or it's the spark of Eru Illuvatar. Knowing the complicated hierarchy of gods within the DC Multiverse, you can't really be sure. The Life Entity seems to treat Death of the Endless of all beings as its "mother", since she infuses those who are born with life. Didi hasn't stated whether this is true nor not.
    • It does not have anything against the many Deaths of the pantheon; Nekron is more of "the absence of life", and death is simply a natural part of life. Like them it has a job to do. In particular it respects the Death of Discworld a lot for trying to defend life from the Auditors of Reality. Can also understand what Yveltal has to do to keep itself alive and the environment in balance. Has to keep shaking off immortality seekers like Alex Wesker who it finds really annoying.

Destruction of The Endless, God of Creative Sterility (Olethros)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/destruction_endless_final_6235.jpg
  • Overdeity
  • Symbol: A pool of water and a sword, against a red background
  • Alignment: Chaotic Neutral, with Chaotic Good leanings
  • Portfolio: Giftedly Bad, Walking the Earth, Nice Anthromorphic Personifications, Inverted Middle Child Syndrome, Extremely Tall, Red Is Heroic, former Destroyer Deity
  • Domains: Destruction, Creation, Change, Art, Travel
  • Allies: The other Endless, everyone who has Walked The Earth to find themselves, Wreck-It Ralph, Satan Jacob, Nero, Brain Blessed
  • Enemies: Almost none; few would survive truly angering him. That being said, he's on bad terms with the Lich, Fenrir and Melkor
  • Respects: Anyone who has sworn off a "noninterference" clause to help or meet those below them, such as Tyrael
  • Disrespects: The GUAD, Father, abusive siblings
  • Conflicting Opinion: Beerus
  • In the universe's infancy, the basic aspects and patterns of the universe would manifest into sentient beings. They would be known as the Endless, and the fourth of their number would be Destruction. For billions of years he would serve as an agent of change, but eventually wished to retire from his role, seeking to explore the flip side of the Endless; for him, the subject of creation. Easily the most beloved of the Endless; even Desire respected him. Most gods are generally on good terms with him, and it's considered really poor to piss him off.
    • The pantheon was fascinated by the fact an Endless could leave their role, leading some thoughts as to whether other Endless could have their power taken away. All Grand Alliances are considering this covertly, even the GUAG in case they have no other options. It hasn't gotten anywhere though.
  • Is on good terms with Wreck-It Ralph, due to their mutual poor skills at creating things. Friends with Satan Jacob, due to having adopted a simple life from a formerly godly title.
    • Conflicted on Beerus. While he represents destruction and understands he has to do his duty, he is disturbed by the God of Destruction's tendency to destroy planets. Beerus respects him however, regarding Destruction as a mentor of sorts like Whis.
  • It's believed that when Destruction of the Endless left his role, Fenrir would try to fill the hole. Destruction isn't pleased by Fenrir's desire to destroy everything forever, and has warned the wolf not to try and break creation again. Fenrir has listened to him for the moment. Also does not like the GUAD. Destruction is ultimately a force of change, and it as much about creation as destruction. They're a perversion of the act in his eyes, and he doesn't want anything to do with them.
    • One of the main reasons why Destruction left his role was due to the coming of the Age of Reason, eventually leading to the invention of the atomic bomb. Destruction didn't want any part in it. Naturally, he's pretty disturbed about the Lich, being the worst nuclear weapons have to offer.
  • Due to representing both Destruction and Creation, the Alliances have all made it a top priority to either get him on their side or at least keep him away from the other sides, since he has abandoned the usual duties of the Endless, which prevent them from directly involving themselves, most of the time.
    • Not usually found in the Pantheon, due to the other members of the Endless often being present, instead going on the road to view the world(s). He has so far not expressed any interest in joining any of the Grand Alliances or a specific group, but is often willing to aid anyone who stops by his residence.
  • Has decided to explore the other side of his abilities in the form of creation, leading him to Walking the Earth. Problem is he's really bad at it. Part of his nature make him bad at creativity. He still tries, of course. Him and Nero became friends as they're both Giftedly Bad. It's rather ironic that despite being bad at crafts, he's by far the strongest god in the House of Crafts. As he has a role with creation along with destruction, Nekron has placed him as one of the possible suspects for where the Life Entity. He finds it more likely that his sister Death is the source, but is in enough trouble as it is with her and has less to worry about if he bothers Destruction.
  • Resembles Brian Blessed a lot. It's currently unknown whether Destruction based his appearance on him, or Brian Blessed on Destruction. Hell, it could be both. Also had a talking dog called Barnabus. He's since given him to Delirium to look after her.

[down] Gotcha. Hey, anything you'd like to add on to Destruction?

@ Whirl RX: I think the fuse to detonate it was lit by penguingate, who did bias stuff like add Enju Aihara for Darkness-Induced Audience Apathy (a trope I feel is misused/exaggerated) or Kyosuke Kamijo (not even in the same league of badly written or hatable as Edward Cullen, Teppei Hojo or frikkin Sonichu). And I believe I was the first guy who vocally said they should go since they were needlessly overly hated (they treated Edward Cullen as a full on Complete Monster) and derailed the ascended characters (like all Nickelodeon character hating Johnny Test just because he's unpopular). Hell, they went to the point where I was sympathetic for Teppei. As I pointed out, how we wrote them was its own form of bad writing and bias. Then there's the Persona Non Grata, who were a sneaky way to keep Real Life figures in the Disgraces (Justin Bieber? Isn't he already overly hated?).

So basically that's why he removed them. Something which had been around since the start, but turned into a cancer on this site. And the Fallen may follow. Nowadays, we don't make a wall of shame. We determine immediately whether something deserves to be in the pantheon. The Castaways are a relic from before this, prior to our precision in determining who is worthy. Back when we pretty much needed a hall of shame to differentiate things.

In essence, the Fallen, the Disgraces, Purgatory and the Unsorted aren't needed anymore. They're a relic from a previous era of the Trope Pantheon. I recognize this. You recognize this. Meme-based profiles, tropeless profiles, halls of shame. These are the old, unkempt days, and their time has come.

On a less testy note, that's why I want Haruhi deposed as a member of the Holy Trinity. She is the goddess of tropes...but as far as I can imagine, for no other reason that because TV Tropes likes her a bunch. Does she really fits the profile of "cataloging concepts and story ideas into tropes"? I don't think so. That's why I really want her to be removed from the Trinity, and represent the far more appropriate Little Miss Almighty instead-she's the weakest link of that trinity.

Of course, this leads me to wonder who if anyone should replace her. I'm not sure, actually. Part of me wonders if the Holy Trinity itself really needs to be around, as they have basically no story presence and very little house preference.

His name isn't 'penguingate', it's just Penguin and then followed by some numbers. But the event is nicknamed penguingate.

My question is whether Catalyst seems to be a fan of this old era, that's why he's still pursuing about deeming someone as Mary Sue or not.

I think I can explain why Haruhi was so well loved before. Back when her show aired, she's the one who started the trend of 'making lots of pop culture Shout-Out'. This made her one of the first instances of people liking meme-ridden shows and gives her tons of popularities and presence in TV Tropes (close enough. Cataloguing tropes and cliches), it doesn't help that background-wise, she's kind of close with a God.

[up] She doesn't fit "Goddess of Tropes" nearly as much as Little Miss Almighty. That's the problem.

I mainly focus on the Main Page because it has the most Early-Installment Weirdness of the pantheon. Allow me to elaborate on my views there (before you ask, I can't rework them because I don't know enough about them to give it justice):

  • Gary Gygax and Dave Arneson: I feel Progenitors were added there as some sort of meta take on origin stories and lore. I feel they should have Tabletop RPG as a trope, since they invented it. They could also have Character Alignment unless someone else better fits it since they're the source for our standard 3 by 3 alignment chart
  • Dream of the Endless: I kind of feel it odd that he doesn't have a proper trope. Maybe Dream Tropes? Or is there a trope related to stories or something?
  • Eru Illuvatar: Feel he's there in part due to some insistence in needing a Top God (though I feel that's the case with the Holy Trinity in general). But he's mostly fine, though could have a bigger profile. Same with the other two
  • Cosmos: Someone needs to give her a tune-up and make her bigger. She's supposed to be one of four main forces of power in the pantheon. Who here is a Dissidia fan?
  • The Man With No Name: There's no point in the High Spirits of Genres, simply because he's the only one there
  • Terry Pratchett: I swear he only ascended they way he did because he recently died. There's only two paragraphs of flavor texts. I feel he should have the Theory of Narrative Causality instead, as he's a big example of it
  • The Protectors of the Plot Continuum: It's telling they're so small and only exist in the Main House. They're partly redundant considering we don't do Disgraces any more
  • Beerus and the Emperor of Mankind: He has the opposite problem-there's way too much to him. He should still have a bunch, but there should be a limit
  • The Ebon Dragon: I don't know about you, but he doesn't fit the basis of a trope. He exists to counter people for its own sake, rather than being "what a character could have been." Heroes Help Villains Hinder fits him way better
  • The Five Maidens: Exalted really comes off as weak compared to modern pantheon. There's literally one flavor text. Just give the trope to Destiny of the Endless, he fits it better and has the superior profile
  • The King of All Cosmos: Trope Namer Syndrome? Even if not, he could do with a bigger profile
  • Walter Cronkite: Either he goes or gets a bigger profile
  • Zetta: Already pointed out my beef with him

[down] I know you know, but I'd like to know who wants to do the rework

Dude, we know that already. I was just mentioning just how she was able to be that prominent when we were in the old days of the Pantheon (which is, when taken to today's standards, fell short and your opinion becomes valid that she's better at Little Miss Almighty)

@Chris X : The extent of it?

I got Bubsy and Elise out, and dropped the "protagonist" of Ride To Hell down there in their place, since he encompassed both tropes those two originally embodied to a greater extent.

As for what caused the Disgraces to be discarded, I wasn't part of that fiasco beyond some posts I made voicing my opinion on it. I was more a proponent of "stricter over-sight on edits" to character pages, since the Disgraces degenerating into an area for people to just hate on the characters was the main issue. I believe I also suggested that the Disgraces removed, from a story-line perspective, as being imprisoned in the Demonreach, since Merlin had ascended around the same time, IIRC.

If I may make a suggestion on the subject of Haruhi - perhaps it would be best to remove her and put in a "mini-Pantheon" of Gods in her place - one consisting of authors who are already in the Pantheon that 'defined' certain genres with their works. E.g. Osamu Tezuka for Manga/Anime, J.R.R. Tolkein or Terry Pratchett for fantasy, Walt Disney for western animation; Shakespeare for theatre; Hesiod and Homer as fathers of western literature.

As for the actual Trinity, the best idea would be to put in someone of similar standing as Dream and Eru from a renowned series, or it would be to remove the concept, and move the remaining two characters into other positions.

On the subject upon which I am engaged at the moment, allow me to voice my stance:

While there are so vast a number of fictional characters that I cannot wrap my head around them, I have been of the mind that more careful deliberation should be taken (given my own past inexperience of trying to put people in) when considering who gets what trope. Namely, which characters best embody a certain trope.

In the case of Whirl RX trying to make Inoue Goddess of Personality Powers, she is from an entire series where virtually every character has a power that reflects their personality, in one form or another. Not to mention that her powers really only cover one sub-set of the entire trope - one of the "Stock personality powers". The trope itself provides a vast list from which to choose from, almost too many out of which to settle on one who best fits the trope. You're more likely to stick an entire cast of characters under a trope where said trope is abundant, rather than one person.

Like the Web Comic, El Goonish Shive. People there gain magic based on "who they are and how they act". A recent mini-arc is demonstrating how malleable this trope can be, since any changes to an individual's mind set or personality can change what kind of magics they can and cannot get. Other people can get a smorgasbord of potential spells, but some aspect of their personality makes it impossible to give that person any of said spells.

If you want to hide something, you gain stealth-based magic; if an event of significance happened in the past pertaining to a certain object, you'll gain magic relating to it (assuming you are also predisposed to that set of magic originally); if you want to protect someone more than anything else, you will gain a guardian angel spell of great power.

NOTE: Two of these three examples are all one person.

See what I mean? A better candidate would be a person who is capable of developing new abilities based on how their own personality develops, rather than simply sticking a character in who only has one type of ability pre-determined by their personality.

@mariovsonic999 : Not exactly. When I recalled my memories of the series from start to finish, I came to realize that, as a Sympathetic Sue, the character was written to be one from the very start of the series. Given the stance on Mary Sues in the past, I had assumed that the current climate would still have a form of demerit system in place associated with the trope. That is, if not thrown into the Fallen or anywhere similar, then they would be disqualified from the Pantheon, and a character would take their place as the deity of whatever trope they originally embodied, especially if a candidate can be found who better embodies said trope than the original holder or candidate.

Okay, I feel like with Haruhi, the problem as I see it is that she is from light novel series. And literature overall if hard to really to catch up online, at least to me. Even if there are translations for all the novels, you know. And before you say "what about the anime?", the latest chapter came out in 2013. So good luck going by only that.

Also, on Personality Power, yeah, I do agree that the holder should be someone who actually changes powers based on their mood.

You know, you people have a bad case on stopping others on doing tropes at the last minute.

I change Orihime trope to Important Hair Accessory then. Unless someone want to voice not to? But for Personality Power, I want to see an alternate choice .

[up] Again, there are other characters who could fit Important Hair Accessory better.

Below is the character I was talking about from El Goonish Shive. Consider this the starting point for her profile.

Nanase Kitsune, Goddess of Personality Powers

Allow me to explain the context of her portfolio, as a number of tropes listed are associated with a number of her personality-based spells.

Flight and the Fairy Doll spells are spells she started out with at the beginning of the series. The Self-Duplication applies to both a later spell, and an Anime-esque martial arts technique (yes, a dojo for Anime Martial Arts does exist in El Goonish Shive) with light-based copies of Nanase with different colors and personalities.

The others are pertaining to spells she started acquiring after she realized she was gay. I put that point under spoilers just in case, since it is a big spoiler for the character (albeit one revealed very early in the web comic's run). The "knowing how many people are looking at you" would fall under a spell needed for "sneaking around" since, while Nanase knew she was gay, she wasn't open about it yet, and still trying to hide it, especially from her mother (who, instead of being angry when she found out, only treats it as a "phase").

The clothing swap spell and the second self-duplication spell are another example of spells for "hiding" - namely, her mother wants Nanase to dress more conservatively (e.g. sweaters instead of tank tops), so she can make her duplicate, named "Fox", dress her in the clothes Nanase normally likes to wear, go out of the house wearing the clothes her mother would prefer her to wear, and then swap clothes with Fox once she's out of the house. The Magic Hair is another disguise spell, related to changing its length, color, etc.

One of the new spells that was not a disguise or hiding spell is Fae Punch: One that allows her to project energy blasts in her Fairy Doll projection that are as strong as her regular punches. And Nanase is quite strong.

The big one is the Guardian Angel spell. Spells in El Goonish Shive reflect who you are, what motivates you, and the sacrifices you are willing to make. Nanase was able to earn this spell because she was willing to sacrifice her life to protect Ellen Dunkel, her friend and lover. Imagine Ichigo's Mugetsu if Ichigo could re-use it - the spell transforms Nanase into a Guardian form of great power, but it comes at the cost of burning out her magic abilities (and also results in her red hair becoming black, hence Power Dyes Your Hair being under spoilers.

The first time, she was burnt out for months; the second time lasted only a day.

As a baseline description for how attaining new spells works in El Goonish Shive, the new spells you get are typically associated with a current aspect of your personality, and are automatically recorded in a spell book each magic user may have (Nanase's book once grew 15 pages for the one "knowing who is looking at me" spell). She stopped gaining "hiding and disguise" spells once she gained the Angel spell, because that marked the point where Nanase also decided to stop hiding who she was, and be open with her feelings in public, and no longer hiding things from her mother.

But on the whole, the entire magic system in El Goonish Shive runs on this. Nanase is simply the most evident one I can think of.

[up]Again, there are other candidates for the above trope, and many of them likely more fitting for it.

I'm not sure why there is a need to change the trope she already has now, even if the title itself could change hands as well.

[up] Her trope was meme base and really had nothing to directly do with her. I'm also taking the trope since her hairpin is an important heirloom from her Brother. And after he passed on, she promise to never take it off.

This looks like it's gonna take long. But as of now I have to go for a vacation for one day. Try to keep yourselves together.

[up][up][up] You are starting to sound a little bias. What's the problem with this trope now?

I look through other canidates of the trope and many are already ascended or any more or less deserving then Orihime.

[up][up][up] Enjoy your vacation.

[up][up] In this case, context of the trope itself: A character (almost Always Female) gets (or removes) a hair accessory to symbolize her Character Development.

The specifics behind the trope are circumstantial in regards to a character's development. Inoue's hairpins were part of the character from day one, and does not necessarily fit within that specific context of the trope.

It would be the same if someone were trying to give the trope to Luffy because of his signature Straw Hat, even when later revelations reveal that the Straw Hat once belonged to none other than Roger himself. He himself is not listed under the trope but his crew-mates are because of the changes in head accessories post-time skip.

This will be in the near future, but I would like to rework The Fonz and Elphaba in the future (recently watched the play).
