Locked Pages: Lock, UnLock and Edit requests

Go To

This thread is for requesting edits or unlocks to Locked Pages or for requesting locks. It can also be used for technical requests to moderators such as:

  • creating new pages in the Main/ and other restricted namespaces without going through Trope Launch Pad
  • moving discussion pages
  • moving reviews

Please keep the following guidelines in mind:

  1. Check Locked Pages and Permanent Red Link Club first. They can provide guidance on what are good and bad requests.
  2. Include working links in your request to the page(s) in question.
  3. If asking for edits, state your changes exactly as they should appear on the page, including proper Example Indentation, namespacing, and pothole and quote formatting. And make sure that what you want to add is actually a valid example.
  4. We do not edit archived articles, even to correct links.
  5. If you need to have the capitalization of a page title or namespace of a work fixed, ask here.
  6. If you need to remove a ghost wick, go here.
  7. To request a page to be moved along with its history, go here.
  8. Some locked pages have ongoing cleanup threads, like Complete Monster (Thread), Five-Man Band (Thread), and Magnificent Bastard (Thread). Other than purely technical requests, edits to these pages ought to be discussed in these threads first.
  9. Also, we do not do direct edits (other than changing wicks) to Magnificent Bastard or Complete Monster example lists. Rather, you need to do the edit to a sandbox page that follows the format Sandbox.Magnificent Bastard<Name of the example subpage> and Sandbox.Monster<Name of the example subpage> (e.g for Monster.Disney it's Sandbox.Monster Disney) and ask for it to be swapped in on Saturday for Magnificent Bastard and on Monday for Complete Monster.
  10. Inappropriate pages that keep being recreated, pages banned under The Content Policy and subpages that are disallowed (like Headscratchers pages for tropes) are valid reasons for requesting page locks.

NOTE: Edited with OP's permission.

  • Optimus in Death Race killing himself for having won through brutality and carnage isn’t funny. Him doing so by turning into a truck and backing up off the track to fall to his death is absolutely so.

In Anime & Manga, a requested edit actually made some spellings incorrect from the official translation. Under Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, can "Twelve Rank" be changed to "Twelve Kizuki" and "strongest of the Rank" changed to "strongest of the Twelve Kizuki".

I'll see what the thread wants to do about Fan Works.

At Video Games: A to F, for Artix, please cut Chaos Dragonlord Vath.

Also, at Shin Megami Tensei, for Persona 5, Persona 5: Joker should be Joker.

At Web Original, Risen and Fallen: Into Inferno and Into Heaven is misalphabetized. Also, please make it:

  • Risen and Fallen: Into Inferno & Into Heaven: Lucifer was once a loyal angel to God, until he betrayed him for his creation of humanity, believing that they should be exterminated. Lucifer first launches an attack on London, where he slaughters thousands of citizens and most of the royal family, before coercing Victoria into becoming imprisoned in the city of Baratrum. Lucifer then manipulated the start of both world wars, which led to the deaths of millions of people. Eventually, Lucifer attempts to kill Victoria and her friends by wiping out the city of Baratrum. In the sequel, Lucifer launches an invasion of Earth, where his followers massacre entire cities. After taking the souls of Derrik and Victoria, he revives them into his mindless servants and sends them to kill hundreds of innocent citizens to both weaken the human resistance and to tarnish their reputation to their friends.

Also, slight rewrites for Live Action TVA To L:

  • Watchmen (2019) has a duo of vile racists:
    • Senator Joseph "Joe" Keene Jr. is the true leader of the Cyclops splinter cell known as the Seventh Kavalry, using his position as an Oklahoma politician to mask his terrorist activities. Organizing the Seventh Kavalry and using them to perpetrate the White Night—a massacre of off-duty police officers and their families on Christmas night—Keene gets dozens of Tulsa police killed just so he can institute a new law to protect cops and make himself look good. After discovering the presence of Dr. Manhattan, Keene has the Kavalry commit a variety of other murders and bombings, threatening the entire family of Angela Abar along the way, before capturing Manhattan and revealing his plans to drain the man's life force and powers to become a god and rewrite reality to one where white men reign supreme just to satisfy his racist, egomaniacal agenda.
    • In "This Extraordinary Being", Fred T.—all but stated to be Fred Trump, father of Donald—is the secret leader of Cyclops, a division of the Ku Klux Klan and the Predecessor Villain to the Seventh Kavalry. Fred gleefully abuses his status to set fire to a Jewish deli and walk free of the consequences, and is furthermore revealed to be using his factory as a base for the manufacturing of films laced with subliminal messaging that drive black people into homicidal rages. Fred intends to have these films shipped all over the country, with only one showing resulting in a theater full of people tearing each other apart.

Calling from the removal of this from The Last of Us Part II:

  • What An Idiot
    • In Seattle Day 3, Owen is falling out with Mel in the aquarium over rejoining the Fireflies at Catalina Island with Abby. Mel is about to storm out when Ellie finds the two and holds them at gunpoint.
You'd Expect: At this point in the story, Mel is heavily pregnant with Owen's child. With that in mind, you'd think the very first thing Owen or Mel would do is mention the pregnancy to the attacker. This way, even if the two don't give what the attacker wants, there's a high likelihood that the attacker would be guilt-tripped into sparing Mel's life.
Instead: When Ellie tries to get Abby's location from the two, Owen charges straight for her gun. This backfires on him, as Ellie easily counters his lunge and fatally wounds him with a gunshot.
Even Worse: After Owen gets shot, Mel doesn't try to escape or mention her pregnancy to Ellie. Instead, she grabs a pocket knife and tries to stab Ellie only for her too to be killed (this time via being stabbed in the throat). Thus, while the story attempts to mark this moment as Ellie crossing the Moral Event Horizon, the deaths of Owen, Mel, and their unborn child is entirely on them for making stupid decisions that cost them their lives.

This is complaining and Fourth Wall Myopia. Here's the scene in question. Owen doesn't charge for her gun, he tries to grab it while she's distracted, but loses the fight. The rest is just complaining about a plot point and relies on hypotheticals.

"Hahaha!! Hya—hahaha! Behold!! The Earth Dragon will destroy Earth along with Joka!! The axis will shift and people shall die!! I have transformed history!! What is life if you can't even bear this!?"'

Futaba Sakura: If he's been behind all of those mental shutdowns... Doesn't that mean all the weird accidents from these past few years were his fault? Like, that subway accident back in April...
Makoto Niijima: Now that you mention it, that accident lost the Minister of Transport his job...
Ann Takamaki: Wait... Are you trying to say that Shido caused that accident? But it's the subway! Does he not care at all about innocent lives!?
Yusuke Kitagawa: This man seems to be truly unbelievable...
Futaba Sakura: Supposedly there are still tons of victims from that in the hospital even now.
Yusuke Kitagawa: Masayoshi Shido... How many has he killed over the years?
Haru Okumura: How could we ever understand what goes on in the mind of such a horrible man...?

No one is left alive
They thought that they could take me down
But it's not my time to die
I wipe the blood from my sword

"Genocide? Who will drag me to court?
There is no crime if you do not get caught
I am the law! We burn!
Plunder and rape
Show them no mercy, just burn!
Flesh turn to ash"

At Complete Monster, Warlock goes to Anime and Manga, while Bullseye replaces current thing for Comic Books.
At Fan Works, please add the following to works with their own pages:

Please then remove the Fanscription entries from the main Fan Works page.

For Video Games, for Hearts of Iron mods, replacing the current entry:

  • Red World:
    • Theresa Brasier is the leader of the far-right Phoenix Front party in Britain. If the British Conservatives decide to work with the far-right, Brasier takes advantage of this political opening to launch a false-flag bombing of Parliament with the goal of discrediting the Conservatives as weak on national security; said bombing forces a snap election totally dominated by far-right parties. If victorious, Brasier abolishes the position of Prime Minister through the National Salvation Act and establishes the position of High Secretary. As High Secretary, Brasier launches a violent crackdown on leftists and Scottish secessionists opposing her rule; enforces Protestant fundamentalism; establishes concentration camps for non-Christians, Socialists, Jews and Muslims; and establishes a total surveillance state to spy on any political opponents using agencies such as "The Eye" and "The Finger". She also launches a war with Ireland over control of Northern Ireland and drags Britain into war with the Soviet bloc under the pretense that Normandy was once controlled by the British.
    • Bal Thackeray is the leader of the Army of Shivaji, a Hindu Fundamentalist Paramilitary Group that emerges in the wake of the Bharatiya Janata Party's empowering of the far-right. If the Bharatiya Janata Party initially reverses efforts to suppress them and installs Thackeray's nephew Raj Thackeray into the Indian government, Bal Thackeray and his movement will use this opportunity to take control of the entire government. Once in power, he uses Raj as a puppet, along with a combination of bribery and working with the Mumbai Mafia to consolidate power. He will then seal off India from Bangladesh and Pakistan' re-implement the caste system' and launch violent pogroms on Muslims that could potentially spread to other minorities in India, resulting in said minorities either being expelled from India or segregated in areas totally isolated from the Hindu population.

Replacing the current Mortal Kombat entries:

  • Enemies of the Past: Shao Kahn is the cruel despot of Outworld who seeks to conquer other realms to expand his dominion. When Outworld won ten consecutive Mortal Kombat tournaments against Edenia, Shao Kahn murdered King Jerrod and took his family, while also ordering the extermination of numerous Edenian villages. After his defeat in Mortal Kombat 3, Shao Kahn enlists the aid of Shang Tsung and Quan Chi to rebuild an army to conquer Earthrealm and Edenia. He then orders the two sorcerers to kidnap Sindel and Kitana for him and to kill Liu Kang and bring his body so that he could be turned into his mindless servant. Shao Kahn also sends extermination squads to Earthrealm to the Wu Shi Academy and to various cities, killing thousands in the process. When the Earthrealm forces infiltrate Shao Kahn's fortress, he engages them in combat, taking pleasure that he'll kill his own brother, Raiden.
  • The Fable of the Fallen Elder God; Shinnok: Shinnok was once a benevolent Elder God who grew jealous that his fellow deities received more praise from the Earthrealmers. Eventually, he decided to overthrow his former comrades and become worshipped by all the realms, sacrificing all of his followers to amplify his own power and use an amulet to plunge Earthrealm into darkness, creating famines and enslaving all of humanity. When he was condemned to the Netherrealm as punishment, he ordered Quan Chi to manipulate a conflict between Earthrealm and Outworld to weaken both realms by the time of his return, so Shinnok could extinguish all life in Earthrealm.
  • Poe's Daughter's series:
    • Sub-Zero: Origins; Frostbitten; Tales of the Lin Kuei; Coming of Age: Grandmaster Oniro is the leader of the Lin Kuei who filled his ranks by kidnapping toddlers and training them as assassins. He executes those who protest his plans, including An Zhi, and often beats any Lin Kuei for minor infractions. Deeming Kuai Liang to be weak, Oniro captures an elderly man for defaulting on a loan and orders Kuai Liang to execute him; Oniro kills the man himself when Kuai Liang refuses. To remove any "imperfections" of human emotion, he initiates the Cyber Initiative that would cyberize every Lin Kuei and enslave them to his directive. After cyberizing a few Lin Kuei, he brings in a ten-year-old girl for trespassing in the Lin Kuei temple and orders the cyborgs to kill her. After Sub-Zero and Smoke's defection from the clan, the former discovers that Oniro had kidnapped mothers from villages that he razed, where he chained them and captured their newborn babies, throwing any female babies over a cliff for being "weak". More than willing to kill those who don't follow his philosophy, Oniro is the model Sub-Zero strives to avoid when he becomes Grandmaster himself.
    • Sub-Zero: Origins: Shao Kahn is the second ruler of Outworld who leads genocidal conquests against the realms. Upon taking control of Outworld, Shao Kahn exterminated and enslaved anyone who opposed his rule, and then conquered other neighboring realms, exterminating the Usirneans and nearly doing the same to the Zaterrans. After he conquered Edenia, Shao Kahn bribed Xiao the Corrupted One into aligning the Cryomancers to himself, executing anyone who didn't accept Xiao's proposal and eventually killing the rebelling Edenians, before taking King Jerrod's family and raping Sindel. He also colluded with Rain to exterminate the Hydromancers, decimating a quarter of Edenia's population. During the Mortal Kombat tournament in Outworld, Shao Kahn dishonorably kills Kung Lao and, after he's defeated by Liu Kang, launches an illicit invasion of Earthrealm, sending out extermination squads to massacre entire human populations and ordering Quan Chi to sacrifice a hundred people to create a soulnado. When he arrives to Earthrealm, Shao Kahn attempts to kill the Earthrealm defenders himself, mocking Sub-Zero that he'll make Anya his concubine when he's done. Although he was a noble warlord in the past, Shao Kahn's ambition turned him into a merciless warmonger only interested in dominating others.
    • Frostbitten & The Curse of the Dragon Medallion: Onaga, the Dragon King, far worse than in canon, is the ruler of Outworld who wanted to control all realms. To that end, Onaga planned to conquer every realm to awaken the One Being and kill the Elder Gods, before wiping out existence with a spell and recreating it with the Kamidogu, enslaving everyone's will to his own. Onaga captured Eidotheia and Fujin to force the former to create said spell, exterminating the Hydromancers when she refused. He then tortured Fujin to coerce her until he was assassinated by Shao Kahn, but his spirit lived on to manipulate Shujinko into collecting the Kamidogu. Upon being revived, Onaga sends his army to Outworld to kill anyone who didn't submit and to get the Dragon Medallion to initiate his plan, massacring thousands of citizens. He later has an enslaved Raiden capture the three Elementals, including a pregnant Anya, before he has Raiden torture Sherman for speaking out. He also plans for Anya to give birth to Sub-Zero's child, where he'll kill it multiple times in front of Sub-Zero, before killing them both and enslaving the latter. In the final battle, Onaga gloats that he'll make Sub-Zero watch his friends die slowly. Despite claiming to enforce order, Onaga is just obsessed with dominating everything and stands as the vilest threat Sub-Zero has faced.
    • The Curse of the Dragon Medallion: Malphas is a crow-demon from the Netherrealm, whose influence can drive others insane. When summoned by the city of Bandiagara to protect from Shao Kahn's siege, Malphas feigned friendliness, before driving the population mad and causing them to kill each other. Afterwards, Malphas wiped out a nearby Tarkatan encampment and slaughtered anymore armies sent to investigate. When the Earthrealm defenders arrive to Bandiagara, he tries to lure them into a trap to kill them as well, stalking them when they try to escape. He quickly takes an interest in Anya and her unborn baby, planning to exploit its birth to escape the Netherrealm and burn all of the realms into oblivion. As a result, he haunts her dreams and later possesses Rain to capture Anya and await her pregnancy, planning to let Rain even rape her when his plan is achieved. Depraved and sociopathic, Malphas stands out as a monster of a demon and commits atrocities just because he can.
  • Victar's series: Shao Kahn was a minor warlord in Outworld, until he started the Great War against its rulers, overthrowing them and taking their daughter, Kitana, as his own. During said conflict, Shao Kahn enacted a brutal scorched earth policy that wiped out most life on Outworld and rendered some parts of it into a wasteland. Without enough resources to maintain his population, Shao Kahn regularly culled them by forcing them to fight in his Arena, while also forcing Kitana to murder one of her former servants during one event. Shao Kahn also executes those who criticize his government and ordered the genocide of the Black Moon tribe after they attacked his tax envoy. Wishing to conquer other realms, Shao Kahn ordered Shang Tsung to build a dimensional bridge to transport his army to Earthrealm, allowing him to enslave or kill billions of humans. After Earthrealm defeated Outworld in a Mortal Kombat tournament, Shao Kahn sent his forces to massacre the Shaolin Temple to lure the Earthrealm warriors into a second tournament in Outworld to kill them. Additionally, Shao Kahn chained Kano and Sonya Blade to his Arena to be corrupted into his servants and sent Kitana to further lure the Earthrealm warriors into Outworld, relishing the suffering they all go through.

The next entry goes to Literature (Lord of the Rings) (though please change it to Tolkien's Legendarium and move it right before Others); one after that goes to Crossovers:

  • The Silmarillion fanfic Morgoth's Vile Legacy: Morgoth Bauglir, formerly known as Melkor, and Sauron are a Vala and Maiar respectively who wanted to take over all of Middle-Earth; to this end, they capture two elves, Midriel and Fingol, to create an army of servants. Morgoth first tortures both elves when they speak out and leaves Sauron to continue torturing them, where he has them whipped and starved over the course of months. Sauron also threatens to rape them both to mentally torment them further. Out of amusement, Morgoth eventually releases them both to an Elven camp, where his forces track them down, slaughter everyone in the camp, and recapture the two elves. Afterwards, both have them breed to create an army of Orcs and, after Morgoth's defeat, Sauron has them breed again to create the Uruk-Hai to add to his growing army.
  • A Song of Ice and Fire/Iron Man Fusion Fic A Man of Iron: Gregor Clegane, aka The Mountain That Rides, is the most psychopathic of Westeros's hired killers, and Iron Man's first serious enemy. Introduced trying to have his men beat a peasant to death and rape his wife, Clegane is outraged by Iron Man's interference and attempts to kill him. Later killing one of his own men for the crime of attempting to joke with him, Clegane fights "Iron Man" again (actually Jon wearing the Iron Man armor). Against the orders of his liege-lord Tywin Lannister, Clegane then attacks Iron Pointe, killing Obadiah Stane and taking Lady Virginia Stark hostage, threatening to rape and kill her and then destroy Iron Pointe if Iron Man does not come to face him by midnight. Upon Tony and Jon coming to rescue her, he attempts to kill her anyway, boasting about his plans to wipe out the Starks and claiming that Joffrey will support him. An unapologetic rapist and murderer, Gregor Clegane represents the very worst Westeros has to offer.

This rewrite goes to the Elseworlds section for both Batman AND Superman:
  • Superman: Speeding Bullets, by J.M. DeMatteis, Eduardo Barreto, et al.: Lex Luthor himself becomes The Joker in this alternate retelling of Clark Kent and Bruce Wayne's backstories. A powerful, amoral businessman disfigured in an accident, Luthor is the one responsible for the death of the Waynes in this continuity, executing the burglars he sent to do the job afterward. Violently possessive of Lois Lane, Luthor schemes to make her his own, intending her to be the queen of his own "Jokerania." To remold the city, Luthor sends mercenary armies to utterly devastate Gotham to remake it from the ground up in his own image, killing hundreds—to which Joker merely quips "why not?" when Batman furiously demands why so many have suffered for his convenience.

For Literature: A to C:
  • Back in the USSA: Frank Nitti, from "Tom Joad", is the wicked enforcer of Secretary Al Capone. A sadist who loves his work, Nitti oversees labor camps to find Tom Joad, having many innocents tortured in the process. Upon assembling a family to ask questions, Nitti has them gunned down with relish even after seeing they likely know nothing. When Eliot Ness sneaks into his hotel, he sees Nitti is also a rapist who likes to abduct and violate young women after torturing them.

At Kim Newman, please replace the appropriate thing with this:

Back in the USSA can be found here, while Warhammer: Drachenfels can be found here or here.
