To-do list:
- Since Hot Scientist was disambiguated, move any examples that fit at least one of the tropes on the disambiguation page if possible, and remove ones that don't.
Despite the fact that Hot Scientist is supposed to be about scientists that seen as attractive in-universe/fanservicey scientist characters, it's still seeing heavy use for any scientist character that's attractive to the editors/audience.
Here's my findings from Hot Scientist Wick Check
- Hot Scientist (out of universe)~~~~76%
- Hot Scientist (in-universe)~~~~~12%
- ZCE~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~10%
- Other~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~2%
Conclusion
I don't think we need separate "attractive character + x profession" tropes when we have Inherently Attractive Profession, I propose that we redirect Hot Scientist into that trope.Wick check:
50/50- The Chick: In Mass Effect, both Tali and Liara(pothole)...
- DysfunctionJunction.Anime And Manga: A a werewolf that's constantly searching for a little sister that isn't even ''his'' little sister. And a Hot Scientist whose dad was always working (and died of unknown causes when she was young).
- The Friends Who Never Hang: "Steins;Gate is interesting that apart from the main foursome of Okabe, Kurisu(pothole)..."
- It's Not You, It's My Enemies: Subverted in the Q&A's: Amanda(pothole) asks Raven on a date, Raven replies with this. Amanda's response:
- My Sensors Indicate You Want to Tap That: Race to Witch Mountain has Sara (the girl with Psychic Powers) commenting that the Hot Scientist lady finds The Rock's character attractive.
- Nerds Are Sexy:
- In Mass Effect, both Tali and Liara
- Joseph Carrion in the Mediochre Q Seth Series doesn't seem that nerdy next to Mediochre, but he's still a Pop-Cultured Badass, university professor, scientist ('pothole)
- OmnidisciplinaryScientist.Live Action TV: Then there was Hot Scientist Dr. Liz Shaw
- Perma-Stubble: Dr. Shamal, Chivalrous Pervert from Reborn! (2004), as well as the Hot Scientist Verde.
- The Professor: Dr. Ritsuko Akagi from Neon Genesis Evangelion plays this role in the cast, plus maybe just a bit of Omnidisciplinary Scientist, Mad Scientist, and Hot Scientist too.
- Super Serum: "After the war, Super Serums continued to be common experimental projects for Mad Scientists, with a lot of them turning out to be Psycho Serums. This results in the creation of quite a few supervillains; however, some successful ones create superheroes instead. Even these usually have some kind of price; for example, Dr. Venus(pothole)' super-treatments wear off over time, and eventually stop working, often with crippling side effects for the 'studmuffins' whom she used them on."
- True Companions: Bob, his girlfriend Jean, (pothole) their "synthetic pink daughter-thing" Molly, and Auntie Princess Voluptua in The Inexplicable Adventures of Bob!. Oh, and Molly's pet tentacle-bunny, Snookums.
- Walking the Earth: Y: The Last Man has Yorick and 355 going from Washington D.C. to Paris the long way by the time the story ends Dr. Mann (pothole) got dropped off in China to continue her father's work).
- You Have to Believe Me!: He then goes on to say that he is the only man that can time travel, which is why the CIA let him out of the psych ward so he can pilot the ship that runs off of alien technology found at Roswell and designed by a sexy Russian (pothole) that totally digs him.
- City Shrouded in Shadow:
- A very pretty female scientist working in NCRRL.
- She's very pretty for a professor/scientist.
- Characters.Arrowverse West Allen Family: Like her dad, she too is an attractive forensic investigator.
- Characters.Blame: She's a gorgeous woman that also happens to be a brilliant scientist. Of course, given the post-apocalyptic setting of the series, not much emphasis is given on her beauty, since there are always more important matters to attend.
- Characters.City Hunter: A beautiful immunologist.
- Characters. The Elder Scrolls III Morrowind: Has a fairly young looking facial sprite and is a prominent Dwemer researcher.
- Characters.Girls Frontline Neural Cloud Snipers: A beautiful astronomer.
- Characters.Gundam Build Fighters: Is Chief Engineer at PPSE, and an extremely good looking one at that.
- Characters.Guardian Tales Basic Unique Heroes: She doesn't stop experimenting just because she goes to the beach.
- Characters.Hack Slash: Is a former Ms. America and a scientist.
- Characters. The Irregular At Magic High School The Yotsuba Clan: Pretty for someone her age.
- Characters.MCUSHIELD Team Coulson: Like her comic counterpart, she has a background in biochemistry, and acts as the team's biochemist in lieu of her sidelining from field duty and Jemma's absence.
- Characters.Mobile Suit Gundam Wing: Let's see: MS pilot for OZ, a junk dealer with Duo, a spy, a hacker. In Frozen Teardrop, she's becomes a Hospital Hottie, a librarian, an expert in nano technology (pothole) and a nun.
- Characters.Moonbeam City The only "unattractive" aspects of Chrysalis might be her slouch, her lack of hourglass shape, her small breasts, and possibly her glasses. Unless, you're into that sort
- Characters.New Gods New Genesis: Bekka is an inventor and pretty hot too. So much so not even Batman could resist her.
- Characters.Spiral: It's unclear exactly what she does, but she is capable of doing scientific tests.
- Characters.Travelers: Very attractive and dressed impeccably fashionably, even when working in the lab. #DirtyCoward.Anime And Manga:...he allows SEELE to take both his Number Two Fuyutsuki and resident Hot Scientist Ritsuko for humiliating interrogation.
- Film. The Cabin In The Woods: Lin, head of the chem department, is younger and more attractive than the rest of the staff - by virtue of being played by Amy Acker (who subverts the Improbable Age associated with this trope by being in her early thirties).
- Literature.Detective Lane Mysteries: Gender-flipped with forensics expert Dr. Fibre.
- Series.Continuum:
- Sonya walks in dressed as a Hot Scientist...
- Surprisingly, despite that example being censored, Sonya got away with being braless while dressed as a Hot Scientist.
- Series.Drifters: The girls at one point watch a movie called Dracteria, a B-Movie featuring vampiric bacteria. Bunny later gets cast as the Hot Scientist lead in its sequel.
- Trivia. The Nostalgia Chick: In the NChick labs, Nella is in the same room with her Mad Scientist self while Elisa plays both The Makeover Fairy and Dr. Tease(pothole). Elisa has lampshaded this in a formspring question, saying that the Makeover Fairy was too obsessed with looking good to notice a woman looking almost exactly like her.
- WesternAnimation.Johnny Bravo: Johnny heads to the titular island, where a Hot Scientist is changing people into animal-human hybrids.
- WesternAnimation.Justice League Gods And Monsters: One of the researchers is quite the Pretty Boy.

Dr. Holiday: I'm talking about the 90% negative spike in your bioenergy.
Rex: My bios spike everytime I see you, Doctor Holiday.
Bobo: Smooth. Like sandpaper.#Characters.Batman Beyond One Shot Villains: She's a very attractive scientist who quickly gains the affection of Victor Fries. - Characters. The Divine Cities: Is described as "intimidatingly beautiful". Downplayed, as this is never commented on by other characters.
- Characters.Halo UNSC Office Of Naval Intelligence: Zigzagged because of her age. Her appearance in the Halo Legends episode "The Package" is played completely straight, and even Halo: Reach and Halo 4 show that age has been rather kind to her. Cortana's looks are partly based on her younger self, and The Fall of Reach describes her as "lovely - not beautiful, but definitely a striking woman" when she was in her twenties, something supported by both of TFoR's visual adaptations.
- Characters.X Men Film Series Other Mutants Original Timeline: According to Logan, who congratulates Yashida upon finding out she's his oncologist.
- Characters.X Men Mutants: Professor X and Banshee definitely think so.
- Webcomic.Paradigm Shift: Gina Anieliwicz 'commented out ZCE
- Characters.Hamatora commented out ZCE

- Characters.Getter Robo: New (commented out trope)

TRS Queue | Works That Require Cleanup of Complaining | Troper WallThe problem is, scientists aren't an Inherently Attractive Profession. In fact that's the point of the trope was supposed to be since it goes against the stereotype of scientists being unattractive old men. I think disambiguation with Nerds Are Sexy and Improbable Age (and maybe more?) is more appropriate.
That could work as well.
If anything, scientists not being an Inherently Attractive Profession is a further argument against the existence of this "trope", and goes with what I've said about how many "tropes" that combine attractiveness with professions are completely arbitrary like how many Badass Tropes arbitrarily combined being badass with an unrelated trait.

Patiently awaiting the release of Paper Luigi and the Marvelous Compass. This, if anything, should point to Hollywood Beauty Standards, which is the trope for people in fiction always looking attractive. I don't think Inherently Attractive Profession fits to scientists.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanWould Science Chick be tropeworthy? A female lead who's rational when talking about math/physics and emotional with everything else.
TroperWall / WikiMagic CleanupI was thinking there could be a broad trope (and Rule of Sexy subtrope) for the case in the page image, where artistic license is taken with "job outfits" for hotness purposes (would also include shirtless firefighters and the like), but that's a couple degrees removed.
Disambiguate this one in the meantime.

Fine with disambiguating.
Macron's notesDisambig, with Inherently Attractive Profession, Hollywood Beauty Standards, Rule of Sexy (etc.) as targets.
Isn't that just Sexy Whatever Outfit?

Sexy Whatever Outfit is any arbitrary thing turned into a titillating costume, not an actual uniform for members of a profession. I think Synch is thinking along the lines of inappropriate work attire as Artistic License + Rule of Sexy.
The only existing tropes that have been brought up so far that seem suitable for a disambig to me are Hollywood Beauty Standards and Rule of Sexy. As noted, 'scientist' isn't an Inherently Attractive Profession, and Sexy Whatever Outfit seems to be for costumes.
Checking Sexy Whatever Outfit led me to find Custom Uniform of Sexy. Maybe that could cover some examples? At least when it comes to uniforms — a Labcoat of Science and Medicine isn't a uniform. On the other hand, fiction could treat them as uniforms...

Maybe Labcoat of Science and Medicine can be added into disambig if appearance is another possible part of it.
TroperWall / WikiMagic CleanupThe most optimal course of action is to disambig.
Affirmative.

she/her | TRS needs your help! | Contributor of Trope ReportDisambig is the right option. I do plan on taking Nerds Are Sexy to TRS for an unclear def / overlap issues at a later date, but it's fine to add to the disambig page for now

Then should Naughty Nurse Outfit be removed from the list of subtropes? It's listed as a subtrope on both its own page and the Sexy Whatever Outfit page. The hypothetical shirtless firefighter costume example given in the post I previously responded to sounds like it would be in the same boat as that trope in terms of whether or not it fits under Sexy Whatever Outfit.
Edit: Plus, the fact that "job outfits" was in quotation marks gives me the impression that she was referring to costumes and not actual uniforms (but correct me if I misinterpreted the use of quotation marks), but even then, we have Custom Uniform of Sexy if the uniform actually is used for a profession.

Patiently awaiting the release of Paper Luigi and the Marvelous Compass.I would say so, and I would say the same for the others there like Sexy Santa Dress and Playboy Bunny. Sexy Whatever Outfit is explicitly about a sexualized costume with an arbitrary theme that isn't usually seen as sexy. If a costume/outfit is recognized enough to have a trope page of its own, it shouldn't qualify as a Sexy Whatever Outfit by default.
I feel whoever added that confused Sexy Whatever Outfit for Fanservice Costumes.
And it does seem like the job outfit trope Synchronicity talked about is covered by Custom Uniform of Sexy.
