Heroes
Jonathan Joestar
A kindhearted aristocrat hailing from Victorian London, and the main protagonist of the fic. Click here for more details.
- Adaptation Dye-Job: Is described as having purple hair, much like his All Star Battle appearance, rather than the game's blue.
- All-Loving Hero: Just like his canon counterpart, he loves pretty much everyone.
"I do not mean to brag, but I have been told I am a very loving person with a big heart, considering someone family, loving them, it is not something difficult for me."
- Animal Lover: In chapter 19, it's revealed that he would care for the stray dogs that sometimes appeared outside his home.
- Animal Motifs: In spite of his large, bulky frame and height, due to his overall nature, Jonathan is repeatedly compared to a puppy.
- Apologetic Attacker:"I am... so sorry, please forgive me for hurting you..."
- And to his Brainwashed and Crazy mentor, William Zeppeli:
"Forgive me, Mr. Zeppeli, I have to do this for your own good!" - Badass Adorable: He's a well-mannered, sincere, sweet-tempered Boy Next Door who can take on vampires, and is the strongest non-stand user in the Joestar Family.
- Bad Liar: According to chapter 19, he was this as a child.
He hasn't lied in a long time, not since he was younger, when he would lie about the fact that he would sneakily eat chocolate while everyone was sleeping, only to come up with last minute excuses and lies when the servants would find melted chocolate crumbs on the floors.
- Beware the Nice Ones: Especially if you hurt any of his descendants.
- The Big Guy: Is definitely one of the strongest fighters on the team.
- Brainwashed and Crazy: He falls under Dio's control during the battle in Cairo.
- British Stuffiness: He tries to keep a civil, gentlemanly demeanor, but occasionally slips, such as laughing at Jolyne's insult of high-school Jotaro's fashion sense.
- Calling Your Attacks: Whenever he fights using Hamon.
- Character Tics: He tends to scratch the back of his neck if he's nervous or embarrassed.
- Cheerful Child: As shown in chapter 9, after being attacked by Alessi.Giorno chuckled. So this is how his padre was as a child. Bubbly, giggly, overly excited, impossibly curious, wearing his heart on his sleeve. He was pretty much like the Jonathan he knew, just that the old version of him didn't voice his curiosity quite as openly, and he wasn't a laughing mess.
- Disney Death: In chapter 16, he seemingly dies while Taking the Bullet for Jotaro, but is revived by him shortly after.
- Does Not Know His Own Strength:
- Don't Call Me "Sir": He dislikes being referred to as "Mr. Joestar", and would rather have people refer to him by his first name, or his nickname.
- Fish out of Temporal Water: As he was originally from 1889, most aspects of the future are very surprising to him.
- Fountain of Youth: In chapter 9, courtesy of Alessi.
- Gentle Giant: He's called this trope multiple times.
- Gosh Dang It to Heck!: The most profane word he's used so far is "confounded".
- Heroic BSoD: In chapter 8, Jotaro blames Jonathan for being too weak to finish Dio off all those years ago, which causes Jonathan to go through this.
- Humble Hero: He states that his Hamon, the ability to harness energy from the sun and turn it into electricity, isn't that impressive.
- I Let Gwen Stacy Die: In chapter 17, it's revealed that he blamed himself for his father's death.
- Innocent Blue Eyes: Befitting his status as a Nice Guy.
- In-Series Nickname: He's referred to as "Gramps" by most of his descendants, and "Padre" by Giorno. The Sex Pistols also call him "Electric Dude" upon first meeting him.
- Lonely Rich Kid: As in canon, he was ostracized in his youth due to his status.
- Manchild: Downplayed. He reacts with childlike glee upon being in Japan with Jotaro, as he'd never gotten the chance to travel before.
- Mistaken for Superpowered: Downplayed. His descendants assume that his Hamon ability is his Stand.
- Nice Guy: To the point where even Iggy warmed up to him.
- O.O.C. Is Serious Business: He briefly loses his composure in chapter 8 when Valentine disappears into the rift, which is lampshaded by Johnny.Jonathan: That man was not attacking to kill... (starts pacing) It felt like he was only testing us...Johnny: Testing us for what?Jonathan: (raising his voice) I do not know!Johnny: Woah, what happened to your goodie-two-shoes attitude?
- Papa Wolf: Is extremely protective of his descendants and would do just about anything to keep them safe.
- Purple Is Powerful: He has purple hair and clothing, and is a pretty formidable Hamon user.
- Team Dad: He's usually the one to defuse the team's various conflicts.
- Trademark Favorite Food: He loves chocolate, as a nod to a scene from the Phantom Blood manga.
- Unstoppable Rage: He flies into this after Older Joseph tells him of Dio's theft of his body."Dio did WHAT?!"
- Wake Up, Go to School & Save the World: Non-Kid Hero variant. He mentions how difficult it was balancing his college life with battling vampires and zombies.
- What the Hell, Hero?: He gives Older Joseph a verbal tongue-lashing regarding his affair with Josuke's mother, Tomoko."JOSEPH JOESTAR, HOW COULD YOU DO SUCH A THING?!"
- Wouldn't Hit a Girl: Justified, since he was raised in 19th-century England. Downplayed, as he soon (very reluctantly) gets over his hang ups upon realising there is no other option that wouldn't put others in danger."Even if [Mariah] did attack me first, I hate causing hurt towards others, especially women. I wish I could have used a different method of calming her."
