YMMV / Jonathan Joestar, The First JoJo

• Adorkable: Jonathan, mostly due to his status as a Gentle Giant and a Fish out of Temporal Water.
• Crosses the Line Twice: Jonathan assuming that hot dogs are made from actual dogs, and is then reminded of the gruesome way that Danny had died.
• Fashion-Victim Villain: Given that it's a JoJo fanfic, this was bound to occur.
• Harsher in Hindsight: Younger Joseph saying "I swear, even my own grandpa turns against me!" in response to Jonathan agreeing with Lisa Lisa that he has to be prepared for any kind of attack becomes this when Jonathan becomes Brainwashed and Crazy in chapter 16.
• Moe: Child!Jonathan, throughout the entirety of chapter 9.
• Narm:
  • The scene where Jonathan becomes enraged after being told of what Dio would do to him in the future can be sort of ridiculous, due to his archaic manner of speech.
  • Jotaro's "The Reason You Suck" Speech to Jonathan is so transparently the author speaking through him that it reduces the scene to a hamfisted fan rant.
• Sickeningly Sweet: In-Universe, Johnny finds Jonathan's attempt to cheer him up to be this.
• The Woobie:
  • Jonathan. The poor guy has been through a lot.
  • Jotaro. Having most of his close friends die, being the only one who even remembers the fact that they died, and having to deal with constant nightmares of those events.
  • Josuke 8, especially the scene where he talks to Jonathan about his predicament, and how he feels like he doesn't belong anywhere, and thinks of himself as a mistake that wasn't supposed to exist.
