Aesir

    Odin
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/odin__earth_27__commission_by_phil_cho_dfyj1re_fullview.jpg
The All-Father, ruler of Asgard, Chieftain of the Norse Pantheon and King of the Aesir.
  • Badass in a Nice Suit: He wears a fancy brown suit and he's one of the most powerful deities in existence.
  • Canine Companion: His wolves Geri and Freki.
  • Clever Crows: His ravens who are currently at his shoulder the current Huginn and Muninn.
  • Comic-Book Fantasy Casting: His appearance appears to be based on Charles Dance.
  • Eyepatch of Power: As always, Odin gave one of his eyes in exchange for knowledge so he covers it with one eyepatch.
  • I Have Many Names: Born Wōden, he's also known as Óðinn, Old Greybeard, Svithrir, Uuôden, Wêda, Wōðanaz, Wuodan, Wuotan.
  • Keeper of Forbidden Knowledge: Odin has enganged in countless magical rituals; but here are three examples of the deals he has made:
    • Gift of the World Tree: For nine days, Odin speared himself to the World Tree, Yggdrasil. A piece of the Yggdrasil still lives within him, as such Odin can freely travel between all realms and cannot be hindered for his presence alone without his harassers suffering consequences for interfering in the progress of the Yggdrasil.
    • The Gray Bargain: Odin made an unholy trade with the Norns (also called the Weird Sisters or Gray Witches). For the cost of his eye, which the Norns turned into a truly powerful artifact, Odin was given the Norns' near unlimited mastery of Seidr. As a result of this bargain, Odin has nearly unmatched magical power.
    • Sleep-Bringer: Long ago, Odin made a deal with Dream of the Endless. The exact nature of this deal is not known, but ever since, Odin has had been accompanied by two ravens, always named Huginn and Muninn, that brings him information and act as his messengers. These ravens often travel between Asgard and the Dreaming, delivering secret messages to the Raven Woman in Ghost Castle's Rookery and returning to Odin with information that he rarely divulges to others.
  • Magical Weapon: Gungnir, Odin's indestructible spear. It is a poweful weapon that grants its user the ability to channel intrinsic forces through it.
  • Massive Numbered Siblings: He happened to have nine children; Thor and Meili with Jǫrð, Baldr and Hodr with Frigg, Vidarr with Gríðr, and Vali with Rindr); and adopted three other gods (Tyr, Heimdall, and Loki).
  • Really Gets Around: He's currently married to Frigg, but he also took as concubines Rindr, Gunnlǫð, and Gríðr, and he also took Jǫrð (better known as Gaia) as lover.
  • Ring of Power: Draupnir is Odin's signet ring, which has two incredible powers. The first remarkable ability Draupnir to replicate itself by producing eight duplicates of itself. The prior eight duplicates will disappear whenever new rings are conjured. This ability requires nine nights to recharge. The second ability of Draupnir, which it shares with its duplicates, is the ability to create intrinsic barriers and constructs of hard light. Odin often gifts thse eight rings to his companions and champions.
  • Seers: Odin is a skiled seer, able to read the auras of others to such as degree as to effectively judge their capabilities. Through his magical gifts of insight, he also has the ability to glimpse into the past of locations or persons. Using the information he gleans from reading auras studying the past, Odin can reliably predict the outcome of future events or interactions with others.
  • Super-Intelligence: Being the God of Knowledge, Odin is renowned for his wisdom and knowledge. He possesses deep sight, foresight, and understanding of the workings of the universe. He seeks to knowledge through various means, including sacrifices, divination, and consultation with supernatural entities.
  • The Trickster: Odin is a natural trickster, allowing him to use loopholes to violate cosmic laws. Odin also has a natural ability to change his shape (always with a missing eye).
  • Try to Fit That on a Business Card: His titles include Allfather, Bestlason, Bewilderer, Borsson, Chieftain of the Aesir, Doer-of-Ill, Ever-Wanderer, Far-Rider, God of Knowledge, God of the Hunt, God of Strategy, the Half-Blind, Lord of Valhalla, Lord of the Valkyrie, Many-Shaped, Shaker, Shouter-in-the-Dark, Sleep-Bringer, the Shifty-Eyed, Swift-in-Deceit, the Usurper, and Wide-of-Wisdom.

    Frigg
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/frigg_earth_27.jpg
The Great Mother, Queen of Asgard, The Spinner of Cloud. The wife of Odin, mother of Baldr and Hodr, stepmother of Thor, Loki and Heimdall.
  • The Archmage: Frigg is a mistress of common eldritch mastery. She is considered to be a grandmistress in the following schools of magic: Anthropomancy, Aspidomancy, Auramancy, Bibliomancy, Catoptromancy, Contramancy, Cryomancy, Erotomancy, Hematomancy, and Oneiromancy.
  • Black Magician Girl: Frigg is powerful sorceress, able to manipulate the chaotic and weird magic of the Fair Lands. This is an intense and potent study of magic. It is said her magic rivals that of other powerful Seiðr users such as the Norns, Odin, and Freyja.
  • A Family Affair: She has taken as lovers the brothers of her husband, Vili and Vé, but since Odin also has taken lovers and concubines, they make it work.
  • The Gambling Addict: Frigg loves to compete in contests and bets with her husband, Odin.
  • House Wife: Frigg has an inyuitive understanding of the domestic arts: baking, cooking, cleaning, sewing, and other practical skills needed to serve the residents of a household. Frigg instinctively understands the recipe for any meal or dessert she encounters. She can also use essence to instantly decontaminate her surroundings or mend a person's damaged clothing. Frigg can also bestow such domestic skills upon mortal minds and has an intrinsic connection to mortals who have already mastered such knowledge.
  • I Have Many Names: Frija, Frea, Frigga, Frīg.
  • Mama Bear: Frigg is a devoted mother, who is said to go great lengths to protect her children. When others harm (or kill) her children, they have earned Frigg's undying ire. When caught up in this state of mind, Frigg becomes increasingly obssessed with vengeance and will become extremely cruel when it is time to issue punishments. While she can have deeply personal relationships with her stepchildren, adopted children, and grandchildren — the connection will never compare to her instrinsic link.
  • Nigh-Invulnerability: As a witch, Frigg is remarkably difficult to expire. Compared to other gods, she had an impressive resolve to live and can continue living despite significant mortal injury. For her to truly expire, she needs to surrender herself to death willingly or be destroyed entirely (such as being born to ashes).
  • Semantic Superpower: By ancient Aesir tradition, any and all contracts, marriage, and agreements should be made in Frigg's name. By doing so, Frigg can look upon a mortal and know if they are bound by a contract or married, know the name of their partners or spouse, and whether or not any involved partners have been true to the terms of their agreements.
  • Weather Manipulation: Frigg has nearly full control over the weather around her. She can summon rain and snow, weave clouds and fog, create wind and tempests, and can agitate the local weather to create thunderstorms (though, she does not have direct control over thunderstorms as she granted that purview to her stepson)

    Thor

    Baldr
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/baldr_earth_27.jpg
God of Joy, Light, and Innocence. The son of Odin and Frigg, full brother of Hodr and half-brother of Thor.
  • Back from the Dead: Just like in the myths, he was unknowingly killed by his brother Hodr with a mistletoe arrow given to him by Loki, but eventually came back to life.
  • Barrier Warrior: When something or someone moves toward Baldr with harmful intent or potential without Baldr's awareness, a mystical failsafe will negate the movement — causing thrown or propelled objects to fall to the ground harmlessly or block persons from moving forward, as if met by an unseen wall.
  • Came Back Wrong: After's Baldr's death, Loki was imprisoned. In protest, Loki's daughter Hel prevented Baldr's soul from resurrecting. Then in turn, next time Loki was captured, Odin commissioned chains enchanted to never release their prisoner until Baldr breathed again and used them to bind Loki. Then, in the last fifty years or so, Hel suddenly released Baldr's soul to allow Loki a chance to make an unexpected escape — but not before she tampered with his soul using essomancy. However, at this time, while Baldr's mother Frigg can detect the use of essomancy on his soul, she is unable to identify what exactly Hel has done to her son.
  • Emotion Control: Baldr has the ability to fill those around him with a sense of elation. This can cause a dull feast to become a party, fill routed warriors with new resolve, or bring peace to a troubled soul.
  • Fearless Fool: Baldr is foolishly fearless. He runs into danger without hesitation.
  • Hyper-Awareness: Baldr's hands are marked with sigils of protection. When Baldr is aware of an attack against him and makes any effort to prevent it, his brands will activate and his hands will reflexively move to block, deflect, catch, parry, and/or counter the assault against him. Once activated, the brands are almost perfect in their success rate, only hindered by Baldr's general health.
  • Incorruptible Pure Pureness: Rarely does guilt affect Baldr's mind and if it should, it would remain a secret to all but him as his essence makes too pure of spirit to pierce his mind through magic or psionics or cause an unnatural effect to influence him. Furthermore, he can extend this protection to any he wished in his proximity. It should be noted that illusions or deception that do not affect his mind directly are not hindered by this ability.
  • I Have Many Names: Bældæg, Balder, Balðraz, Baldur, Báltas, Beldeg .
  • In-Series Nickname: The Bleeding, The Brave, The Bright, Prince of Asgard.
  • Light 'em Up: Baldr has the power to generate light, which can emanate from his own body or another source withing his line-of-sight. The light he generates is made of empyrean essence, allowing him to dispel certain evil spirits or beings, attempt to purify areas subjected to unholy contamination, or enhance the healing of others that rest under the light.
  • The Needless: Baldr cannot be harmed or affected by any poison, toxin, or disease except that which he wishes to effect him. Likewise, he can breathe smoke or water without ill effect. Furthermore, he doesn’t need to eat or drink — though he will find living without nutrition to be uncomfortable.
  • Omniglot: Baldr can speak, read, and understand all languages of man. By way of a blessing of Frigg, Baldr can also speak and understand animal's speech.
  • Perfectly Arranged Marriage: Despite his flaws, his arranged marriage to the goddess Nanna was very happy and she brought out the best in him.
  • Pride: Baldr is a proud god. He is woefully not self-aware, particularly when it comes to his faults and shortcommings. As a Prince of Asgard, he is also entitled.
  • Weaksauce Weakness: Mistletoe is not affected by Baldr's Otheworldly Protection. It cannot be detected, it cannot be hindered, it cannot be blocked. Any weapons wrapped in mistletoe, poisons treated with mistletoe, and persons wearing mistletoe have this same protection. Mistletoe in Baldr's immediate presence or worn on his person will also negate his protections. Finally, such injuries will heal much slower.

    Freyr
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/freyr_earth_27.jpg
Younger twin brother of Freyja and son of Njörd and Skadi. He's also the God of Elves, God of Fertility, God of Good Weather, God of Prosperity, and Yule Son. He also used to be God of the Harvest, God of Kings, and God of Peace.
  • Ethnic God: He's also the God of Elves. Frey's friendship with the elves made him a natural choice to oversee their role in Norse society. He acted as their voice among the gods, bringing their concerns to the divine, and in turn they gave him a measure of worship. As part of his purview, Freyr has the ability to sense the names and a portion of the lineage of any elf he encounters in person. He also can glean the Arcane Aptitude of elves and can use his divine power to "reset" the Arcane Aptitudes of a willing elf.
  • Fertility God: Even before he had received this purview, Freyr had the natural power to enrich organic matter and thereby restore it's vigor. With this ability, he can also instantly heal minor ailments, cure impotence or infertility over time, and get an overall sense of the general health of all beings in his locality. Witht he addition of this purview, his power was amplified, allowing him to heal major ailments and moderate injuries. With a ritual requiring multiple participants, he can revitalize an entire region all its residents in a single night.
  • Cool Ship: Created by dwarven artificiers, Freyr had an amazing flying yacht named Skíðblaðnir that he can use to travel the cosmos in luxury. When he is not using the ship, Freyr can just fold the ship and store it in his pocket. How that works is anyone's guess.
  • Full-Boar Action: Also built by dwarves, and falling somewhere between a relic and a familiar is the magical boar, Gullinbursti. This large gilded automaton has become Freyr's war mount and one of his many travel companions. As Freyr's not much for fighting, he tends to keep Gullinbursti nearby to do his fighting for him.
  • Green Thumb: Freyr abandoned his purview as God of Harvest to his wife Gerðr, but he also retains portions of this power. This allows him to confer agricultural knowledge to others with a simple tap of his finger to their forehead.
  • Half-Identical Twins: He and his sister Freyja look very similar to each other, having the same blue eyes and blonde hair.
  • Hot God: He's a pretty good-looking god and he continues breaking hearts.
  • I Have Many Names: Frey, Freyr, Freyr Claus, Fricco, Ingunar-Freyr, Njörðrsson.
  • Lust: Similarly to most fertility gods, Freyr has an overactive libido. He has so much experience in satisfying himself that he had often been falsely worshipped as a God of Love. If unable to satisfy his carnal urges, Freyr can become fixated and unable to focus on much else.
  • The Slacker: Growing up with much more responsability and expectation placed on his sister and not on him, Freyr has become a tremendous slack. He rarely will engage in hard work — and actually puts more effort in avoiding work than actually doing anything productive.
  • Weather Manipulation: Freyr has the power to calm agitated weather patterns and confer an enchantment to a particular locale to grant it mild weather for a short period of time. Unlike other Norse gods, he cannot summon storms or strong winds (or at least has never seen a reason to try).
  • Winds of Destiny, Change!: Freyr is blessed with unnatural luck (when he wants to be) and he can confer this upon others as well. However, "luck" is not always a blessing, at least within the parameters of this ability, as while Freyr' brand of "luck" does shape reality around you to bestow great favor upon you, but for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction so if you're unlucky enough to be caught in the wake of someone using this power, you better be on your toes.

    Freyja
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/freyja_earth_27.jpg
Chieftess of the Vanir, Daughter Christmas, Freyja ("The Lady"), Gefn, Hörn, Lady of Fólkvangr, Skjálf, Queen, Yule Daughter.
  • Artifact of Power: Brisingamen, Freyja's signature necklace. This necklace allows Freyja to captivate the attention of anyone in her presence who considers her to be attractive. The effect of this necklace is said to be so powerful that even the divine can fall to its spell. Furthermore, due to its superior dwarven craftsmanship, the necklace also functions as a powerful occult battery, able to store tremendous magical energy or a significant number of secondary effects. In the past, the necklace was enchanted with a powerful illusion to allow the god Thor to pose as Freyja.
  • Badass Cape: Freyja owns a feathered cloak named the Falcon Feathers that once belonged to the trickster Loki. The cloak has the ability to transform its wearer into a falcon. Wearers with a more pronounced occult ability, such as Freyja, can also use the magic at an elevated level to grant its wearer a pair of large falcon-like wings able to permit flight at a significant speed. This became the basis for many similar cloaks worn by Valkyrie without natural wings of their own.
  • Black Magician Girl: Having lived in Vanaheimr and being highly regarded by the elven people, Freyja had access to learn the ways of the Seiðr, also known as Sidhean magic or the magic of the Fae. As a result of this, Freyja has vast magical power, on par with many of the greatest sorcerers.
  • Charm Person: An occult gift inherited from her mother, Freyja is often regarded as being universally attractive. This effect may be psionic in nature, as beings who are resistant or immune to such effects usually report a diminished interest in Freyja.
  • Gender Is No Object: She's the chieftainess of the Vanir due to being the older twin even though the Aesir are not as egalitarian as the Vanir.
  • Half-Identical Twins: She looks very similar to her twin brother Freyr, with the same blonde hair and blue eyes.
  • Hot God: She's certainly beautiful and beauty is one of her domains.
  • I Have Many Names: Born Vanadis, she's also known as Freya, Freyja Claus, Freyja of the Valkyries, Lady of Tears, Mardöll, Njörðrsdóttir, The Shaker, Skaðisdóttir, Sýr, Thröng, Thrungva, Valfreya, Valfreyja.
  • Love Goddess: Freyja is able to read the minds of mortals and divine beings alike to ascertain who or what it is that they feel love for, or who it is that they may lust after. With focus, she also senses if that love is reciprocated or not.
  • Official Couple: Married to Óðr, although they have been separated for long periods of time due to his true love being bloodshed.
  • Related in the Adaptation: She's the half-sister of Odin as well as of Bigby Wolf, relating her to both the Wolf Clan and the Aesir.
  • Sex Magic: Freyja knows when, where, and with who anyone she encounters has had sexual intercourse. Furthermore, she is highly skilled and knowledgeable in the execution of sexual congress and can grant such carnal talent to those she imparts her blessings upon. Those who can enjoy her own company will find that by doing so, Freyja's powers give her complete insight into their mind and soul, bearing all their secrets to her during the course of their intimate affair.
  • Weapon Specialization: As the Val, or Valfreyja, the leader of the Valkyrjur, Freyja has a spear gifted to her by her dwarven smiths named Hjartaspjörr. It has no magical abilities but is crafted of adamant and is of superior design.

    Heimdall
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/heimdall_earth_27.jpg
High Sentry of Asgard, Keeper of the Bifröst, Prince of Asgard.
  • Adopted into Royalty: Like Tyr and Loki, Heimdall was adopted as a son of Odin to unify the Pantheon further.
  • Compelling Voice: Heimdall's voice carries psychic effect. Those that hear his voice are inclined to listen. This was bestowed by Calliope.
  • Dimensional Traveler: As the Keeper of the Bifröst, the great rainbow bridge of the Aesir, Heimdall is able to open a magical pathway to any other dimension or specific location which he can see. His magical sword Hǫfuð made of supernatural through dimensional barriers and can summon the Bifröst for transport to/from Asgard.
  • The Empath: Heimdall can sense the emotions of others, and influence their sensitivity to sorrow. This was bestowed by Melpomene.
  • Gate Guardian: As the High Sentry of Asgard, Heimdall is the carried of the Gjarllarhorn. Not only is this sacred relic used for the drinking of mead or other beverages, but when emptied and uncorked, it can be blown to emit a signal or message that all members of the Aesir and Vanir will hear, regardless of distance. Also, the last person to drink from the Gjarllarhorn is given the power of farsight, allowing them to see and hear remote locations, similar to the effect of Odin's throne, Hliðskjálf. One bestowed with this power will have the power of the Bifröst visible in their eyes.
  • I Have Many Names: Born Linus in the Greek Pantheon, he's also known as Gullintanni, Hallinskiði, Ialémos, Rhesus, Rig, Vindlé.
  • Loss of Inhibitions: Heimdall has a passive psychic influence on those around him which quickly erodes inhibitions. This was bestowed by Erato.
  • Photographic Memory: Heimdall has a perfect memory. He can absorb knowledge from others and objects of significance. This was bestowed by Urania.
  • Platonic Co-Parenting: Since his biological father is unknown and his biological mother could be any of the Muses, he was raised by the nine as his mothers.
  • Pride: Heimdall is often cited as the most purest or the most noble of the gods. No doubt this has gone to his head, making him a prime target for a trickster's pranking.
  • The Rival: Heimdall and Loki never got along. They first met during the Aesir-Vanir war, both nearly killing the other at different times. Heimdall was often forced to begrudgingly accept Loki as a friend when the trickster helped Njörð rescue Idunn. Then, Loki was made Heimdall's brother when Heimdall was adopted by Odin. Heimdall tried to put his feud with Loki to bed several times, but never could manage due to the trickster's ability to evade Heimdall's all-seeing eyes, sowing paranoia and aggravation. When Loki stole Freyja's necklace, Heimdall eagerly asked to be given the chance to retrieve it and took delight in publicly humiliating Loki in front of the Aesir and Vanir once he successfully retrieved the stolen jewelry. Due to all of this, Loki has an apparent interest in burying the hatchet with Heimdall and his pranks upon the High Sentry grew increasingly cruel and violent in nature, to the point that the doomsday prophecies of Ragnarök cite Loki and Heimdall as being destined to kill one another.

Loki and Family

    Loki

    Angrboda / Lilith
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/angrboda_earth_27.jpg
The lover of Loki and mother of Jormungandr, Fenrir and Hel.

    Jörmungandr
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/jormungandr__earth_27__commission_by_phil_cho_dfzp4sb_fullview.jpg
The World Serpent of Midgard, eldest son of Loki and Angrboda, destined to kill and be killed by Thor during Ragnarok.
  • Composite Character: He's also combined with Níðhöggr, the dragon that gnawed at the roots of Yggdrasil.
  • Dragon Hoard: Despite the stereotype, they do have merit in the occult world. So yes: dragons love gold, shiny things, and rare treasure. Why this is, it's hard to say as there aren't that many dragons around anymore to study. It's possible that dragons use it to grow more powerful. Whatever the case, dragons have always been greedy creatures and Jörmungandr is no exception.
  • Dragons Prefer Princesses: Another trapping of the dragon is an interest in sexual gratification. The reason dragons having a reputation for kidnapping princesses or requiring virgin sacrifices is that dragons are perverts enthralled by beauty. Jörmungandr is no exception and, in fact, being the child of Lilith, it's likely he's even more perverted than other dragons.
  • God-Eating: Jörmungandr is a predator that lives more than devouring souls. As he grew larger, he found his only satistication coming from the consumption of increasingly more powerful or dangerous souls, but now only wishes to consume the souls of gods and similar beings, most particularly the soul of his uncle, Thor.
  • The Great Serpent: He's one of the most famous examples of a giant serpent, being massive enough to surround all of Midgard.
  • Healing Factor: Jörmungandr is able to recover from serious injury in a short time. Like his half-brother, the Hydra, he's even survived beheading.
  • I Have Many Names: Bakunawa, Chaos Serpent, He-Who-Strikes-With-Malice, Horned Serpent, Malice Striker, Midgard Serpent, Níðhöggr, Ouroboros, Red Dragon, World Serpent.
  • Lazy Dragon: When not on the hunt, Jörmungandr is usually sleeping.
  • Our Dragons Are Different: Dragons are serpentine creatures of great power. They have natural ties to the intrinsic fields, allowing them to master such disciplines with little effort. Most choose to align themselves with the Burn. Jörmungandr has no set connections with any intrinsic field but rather a loose agreement with the parliaments of several which allow him to freely move from realm to realm with considerably ease.
  • Poisonous Person: Jörmungandr is said to have venom so potent that its touch alone will burn like acid. Even gods have remarked at how painful the venom of this serpent can be. Though contact alone cannot kill a god, if it should enter the ichorstream it could kill a god in nine seconds flat. Naturally, if gods find this so deadly, us mere mortals wouldn't stand a chance.
  • Pride: Jörmungandr is a dragon born of daimon and demon. As such he's a vain creature.
  • Revenge Before Reason: Jörmungandr has sworn vengeance on his uncle and it's doubtful he'll be able to stop himself until such pursuit ends with the death of Thor, Jörmungandr, or both.
  • Sizeshifter: Having devoured countless souls and internalized their power, Jörmungandr can alter his size considerably. He changes size so often, routinely taking a shape proportinate to the free space of the environment around him, it can be difficult to surmise his natural size. He has been seen to be as small as a garter snake and so large one might think he could wrap himself around the world.
  • Super-Strength: Jörmungandr is exceedingly strong and only grows stronger when he shifts to his more massive sizes. In his smallest form, about the size of a garter snake, he can still constrict with enough force to pulverize human bones in an instant. In his more gargantuan forms, Jörmungandr can cause the ground beneath him to quake in his passing or cause tidal waves with his movement beneath the waves.
  • Voluntary Shapeshifting: Jörmungandr is known to have other forms other than his natural form as a massive dragon-like serpent. He has been known to assume the form of a cat, possibly due to his personality matiching that of the typical cat. Rumors also claim that Jörmungandr has taking the form of a human with snake-like eyes in order to couple with human mates, but this has not been proven.

    Fenrir
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/fenrir__earth_27__commission_by_phil_cho_dfzsbkc_fullview.jpg
The second child of Loki and Angrboda, bound by the rope of Gleipnir, destined to kill Odin during Ragnarok and be killed by Vali in retaliation.
  • Canis Major: He's a gigantic wolf, even bigger than his younger half-brother Bigby Wolf.
  • Savage Wolves: He's both huge and incredibly dangerous.

    Hel
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/hel_earth_27.jpg
Third and youngest child of Loki and Angrboda, the ruler of Nifleheimr and Goddess of Death, Mist, Mystery and Reincarnation.
  • Adaptational Attractiveness: In the myths Hel was described as having half her body normal and beautiful and the other was dead and decaying, but here her face is simply pale white.
  • God of the Dead: As Goddess of Death, Hel's necromantic power allows her to sense death, suspend pending death, cause accelerated rot or decay, and control disembodied souls.
  • God's Hands Are Tied: Hel is subject to a number of Ancient Laws. Due to her being a daimon, she is subject to the Laws of the Void. Having become tied to the politics of Hell (note the second L) and earning the title Prince of Hell, she is bound by the various contracts and legal structure that governs Hell and its bureacracy. As a Goddess of Death, she also is subject to the rules and regulations set by Death of the Endless. Should Hel violate these rules, she could be subject to severe penalties... and unlike her father Loki, Hel is not a trickster and is unable to make use of the more lenient loopholes that tricksters can.
  • Greed: Hel is quite fond of her collection of souls. While she does relinquish some to fuel reincarnation, she only does what it is absolutely required of her.
  • Hair-Trigger Temper: Hel has a wicked temper and is prone to berserker fits of violence.
  • Living Lie Detector: Hel is aware all acts of deceptions in her presence, including illusion. Few mysteries can withstand her abilities of discernment.
  • Lust: Though she does not flaunt her libido to the degree of her mother or some of her other half-siblings, Hel does have a healthy sexual libido to the degree of her mother or some of her other half-siblings, Hel does have a healthy sexual appetite. She retains harem of various souls, daimons, demons, Valkyrie, and even fae to satisfy her. Hel will go to great lengths to bed any other creaure that happens to catch her eye.
  • Magic Kiss: Hel's lips can secrete a number of natural chemicals, giving her kiss different effects to those who ingest the chemicals. All are fast-acting. A single kiss can poison someone or give them the antidote. She can also incapacitate her victims with a powerful sedative or cause them to hallucinate or become affected as though they were drunk or high on a powerful narcotic. This is known as the Lilim's Kiss. As a goddess of death and resurrection, Hel also has the power to perform a "Kiss of Death" or a "Kiss' Life", which can be immediately fatal or life-saving.
  • Pride: Hel is a proud and vain creature. While she tends to have a thick skin with concerns to the deformed side of her face, she does use her shapeshifting to conceal it when she is alone or is not required to keep up appearances or intimadation. She had a somewhat thinner armor when it comes to insults concerning her parentage or her family. Just ask Baldr how petty and cruel she can be if you insult her father or make her stepmother cry (and she doesn't even like Sigyn that much).
  • Reincarnation: As Goddess of Resurrection, Hel can discern a mortal's prior identities from previous lives. She also is the final arbitrator of the resurrection for any being which has been rightfully claimed as a resident of Niflheimr.
  • Statuesque Stunner: She stands at 5'10"/178cm tall and quite beautiful, even with her face.
  • Strong Family Resemblance: She looks a lot like her mother with the exception of her face.
  • Super Smoke: Hel's name, while being derived from the realm of her birth, also means "hidden" so it seems very appropiate that she can summon mist to conceal her presence. When inside of mist, whether magically summoned or natural, Hel can choose to become invisible and travel through mist instantly.
  • Two-Faced: Half her face is normal while the other is chalk white.
  • Vapor Wear: Her black dress indicates she's not wearing underwear.
  • Voluntary Shapeshifting: Hel's inherited her father's ability to shapeshift, allowing her to take the form of various animals. She cannot duplicate another's form, but she can alter her own appearance in minor ways as a disguise (such as changing her eye or hair color, or concealing the deformed side of her face).
  • Your Soul Is Mine!: After's Baldr's death, Loki was imprisoned.
