    The Presence
  • Boyfriend-Blocking Dad: He left a divine commandment on his daughter Saraquael that said "Chuck don't touch my daughter", to Chuck's dismay. Turns out that was just a joke to have an excuse for Chuck to use his Angel Coventry.
  • Composite Character: Erebus, the Primordial God of Darkness and Void, is combined with the Divine Presence.
  • Creative Sterility: Surprisingly yes, when it was his turn to bring Creation to reality, he didn't knew what to do. It was only after he met his wife "Eden" that the Big Bang and the Creation truly began.
  • A Dog Named "Dog": One of his fragments takes the form of the Johnson's family dog named Dog.
  • God: Or the closest to the Christian God in the DC Universe.
  • God Is Flawed: For all his power, omnipotence and good intentions, the Presence has made mistakes and wasn't the best father to some of his children.
  • Have You Seen My God?: Donna mentions that the Presence has gone missing, and, without him, Raphael has taken control over Heaven.
  • I Have Many Names: He's been known as Ahura Mazda, The All, Allah, Almighty, Ardonai, Aten, Baha, Bragi, Creator, Demiurge, Deus, Elohim, Erebus, Father, God, Heavenly Father, Monad, Sang Hyang Widhi Wasa, Shangdi, Summum Bonum, Superme Being, Tawhid, Trinity and Waheguru.
  • Love Martyr: "Eden" is the name of the Presence's wife, but whether that is Her true name or a pet name is not certain. Eden had a wanderlust and was continually leaving to explore the cosmos. The Presence tried many grand gestures to keep Her at His side, but all would eventually fail. The first such grand gesture was combining Their power to create a child — the archangel Samael. But still Eden went wandering. When She returned periodically, They would often create another child and the Presence would attempt another ploy to keep Her home - such as creating the Garden of Eden or spending centuries on Earth posing as pagan gods as a sort of prolonged second honeymoon. It's possible that the Presence's own sojourns have been a search for Eden.
  • Meaningful Rename: He was once known as Erebus, "King of the Empty, Dark, and Cold", but with the birth of Samael and light, he began to only be known as "Father".
  • The Omnipotent: Well yeah, he's God. While bound by certain Ancient Laws, he's still one of the most powerful beings in all existence.
  • Pieces of God: In order to look for Eden without being detected by his children, he divided his consciousness and separated his powers into different beings. The dog of the Johnson family received his wisdom and knowledge, while Wally Johnson received his Grace.
  • Possessing a Dead Body: Transfers his soul from Dog to the body of the recently passed Noah Johnson.
  • Related in the Adaptation: He's the "brother" of Alpheus, the World Forger, Pralaya, Perpetua, Kismet, Tuoni and Suvoc Yirth.
  • Sdrawkcab Name: Dog backwards reads God, a very simple yet effective disguise.
  • Talking Animal: One of his physical forms is a talking dog.

    Eden
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/eden_earth_27.jpg

The wife of The Presence and co-creator of All-Creation, who went missing centuries ago.

  • Almighty Mom: Considering she's the wife of the Almighty himself and the mother of the Archangels, yes it fits her.
  • Angelic Beauty: She's the Mother of All, and has been called Beauty Incarnate, and First Muse.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: Despite how nice and reasonable she is most of the time, you don't want to anger her, even if you're one of her children.
  • Charm Person: Eden is said to be the Beauty Incarnate and the First Muse as Her presence exudes vorpal energy which fills those near Her with inspiration and purpose. As such, she could be considered a drug.
  • Composite Character: Based on Goddess from the Lucifer TV series.
  • Connected All Along: She's friends with both Santa Claus/Boreas and Mrs. Claus/Skadi, the former who saved her from imprisonment by a Titan, and they even had a double wedding when he married Skadi and she married The Presence/Bragi.
  • Dimensional Traveler: Eden has free reign of the universe. She can go everywhere, nowhere, and anywhere in between. She has been to the Bleed, She walked on the external sides of the Murums, and has even been to the Tapestry and the Writer's Room, though She does not speak such things.
  • God of Gods: Eden is to the Archangels what the archangels are to other angels. She is a truly unique entity as there is no other being quite like her.
  • Have You Seen My God?: Looking for her is the reason the Presence is missing.
  • The High Queen: She's the Queen of Heaven for a reason.
  • I Have Many Names: She's been known as Asherah, Asratu, Belit-Sheru, Dione, Elat, Idunn, and Qodesh.
  • A Kind of One: She's a unique Cosmic being, coming into existence during the Absence of Creation, an entity with no apparent creator or parents. She simply is. Theories abound on Her origin, but even Eden does not know if any hold any merit. Only the Fatewriter can say.
  • Missing Mom: Her children the Archangels haven't seen her in a long, long time thanks to her free-spirited and fickle nature.
  • Only Known by Their Nickname: "Eden" is merely the name the Presence gave to her. Her true name, if she has one, is unknown.
  • Parents Know Their Children: Quite literally, having birthed them, She knows what Her children the Archangels are truly capable of, even more than they know themselves.
  • Statuesque Stunner: She stands at 6'1"/185cm tall, and she's the First Muse and Beauty Incarnate.
  • Supernatural Sensitivity: Eden can perceive things of all dimensional frequencies, allowing Her to see or hear things that exist on a different plane or concealed, such as ghosts or non-manifested angels on Earth.
  • Time Abyss: Being born Before Creation, she can be said to be older than time itself.
  • Walking the Earth: Eden cannot escape Her endless desire to travel.

Angels

    In General
  • Angelic Transformation: They can conceal their wings when not in use.
  • The Coup: The four heads of the Pax Dei, Heraphon, Asmodel, Rrall and Imogen, believing they're no longer worthy of ruling Heaven, usurp their parents and make Wally the new king of Heaven, banishing their parents to Earth.
  • Death of Personality: Not exactly 'death', but an angel undergoing the Rite of Rebirth means changing aspects of their personality, besides the likeness of changing appearance and gender. Since many angels aren't comfortable with changing what they are, they only undergo the rite under dire circumstances. Castiel and Sandalphon are among the few that undergo the ritual frequently.
  • Divine Conflict: The Kingdom of Heaven ended up in conflict with other pantheons, especially the Olympians and the Kemitites, the Gods of Ancient Egypt, surpassing their worship and making the worship of The Presence the dominant religion.
  • Fatal Flaw: All angels are born with at least one innate flaw. They can try to control it and even change it, but can never be truly rid of it.
  • Inhumanly Beautiful Race: They tend to be incredibly attractive.
  • Reincarnated as the Opposite Sex: When angels undergo the Rite of Rebirth, they usually change sex and their personalities are altered. Since many angels don't like the thought of changing who they are, they usually don't use it unless they're on the verge of death. Sandalphon and Castiel are among the angels that have changed gender so many times they don't remember what was their original gender.
  • Winged Humanoid: Most of them have a humanoid body combined with a pair of wings, that allows them to fly at supersonic speeds.

The Archangels

    In General
  • Altar Diplomacy: Not really a marriage, but while trying to curtail favor with the different Pantheons, The Presence paired each of the Archangels with a member of a respective pantheon, which resulted in one child each. Michael and Lucifer were with the Greek and Roman pantheon, Uriel with the Egyptian, Saraquael and later Raphael with the Mesopotamians, Gabriel with the Irish pantheon and Raguel with the Ancient Chinese pantheon.
  • Cool Sword: Michael, Uriel and Saraquael all carry swords, given to them by The Presence.
  • Fallen Angel: Michael, Uriel, Raphael and Gabriel end up being cast down to Earth by their own children after giving the Throne of Heaven to an awakened Wally.
  • Naked People Are Funny: When they crash land on Badarstan, their clothes get burnt off, and they only notice it when Jake Jensen points it out.
  • The Older Immortal: As the eldest children of The Presence, the Archangels have existed since the days of creation, making them thousands of years old, even older than the Endless themselves.
  • Rule of Seven: They were created on each day of the creation, and given one of the Seven Deadly Sins as flaw. Each of them also has become parent to at least one of the Thrones.
  • Seven Deadly Sins: Since the Presence didn't want to them to be truly perfect, each of them was given one of the seven deadly sins to better empathize with mortal lives. Lucifer is Pride, Michael is Envy, Uriel is Sloth, Raphael is Greed, Saraquael is Lust, Gabriel is Gluttony and Raguel was Wrath.
  • Time Abyss: Being created by The Presence and his "wife" 'Eden', they are millions of years old at least.
  • Two Girls to a Team: Uriel and Saraquael were the two females among the seven angels.

    Michael Demiurgos
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/michael_demiurgos__earth_27__commission_by_phil_cho_ddkm8jx_fullview.jpg

Called the Demiurge or Michael Demiurgos, since the exile of Lucifer, he is the most senior archangel and is the de facto commander of the Heavenly Host in the Presence's absence. Michael is also the only archangel to father another archangel, having fathered a daughter: Elaine Belloc.

  • Aloof Big Brother: He was incredibly aloof and demanding of his siblings for most of their, incredibly long, existence, and had no idea they saw him as insufferable.
  • Archangel Michael: He's The Archangel Michael, the most famous and powerful of the Archangels.
  • Badass in a Nice Suit: Wears a blue suit and is the most powerful archangel in existence.
  • Break the Haughty: Being cast down from Heaven after being usurped by the Pax Dei was certainly a major blow to his ego. Getting beat up by William Roque, a mere mortal, and later being called out by Raphael for all his crap finally starts his Character Development, promising he'll be a better brother and father for his daughter Elaine.
  • Curtains Match the Windows: Has golden eyes and golden wings.
  • Fish out of Water: He's very much out of touch with a lot of human customs, like modesty and idioms.
  • Glorified Sperm Donor: He's basically called one by Elaine, and she's not exactly wrong. Michael was on a mission and Elaine's mother's faith was pretty strong.
  • Green-Eyed Monster: All archangels were given a major flaw. In Michael's case it's his envy towards Lucifer and how he seemingly was favored by The Presence, something Lucifer denies.
  • Humans Are Insects: Until he was called out, he spent so much time looking down on humans from Heaven, he doesn't even recognize Lorin despite having met him more than once, seeing all mortals as the same.
  • Innocent Fanservice Guy: The sense of modesty most humans have go over his head, so he doesn't care that Lula sees him naked.
  • Love Redeems: Him dating Lula has helped him become a better person and brother.
  • Luke, I Am Your Father: He's the biological father of Elaine Belloc sired by a mortal woman and put his brother Lucifer under his tutelage and protection.
  • Mask of Sanity: On the Head of a Pin #25 shows that underneath his facade of someone completely in control of his emotions, thousands of years of envy have made him very unstable, ranting about how his father has always favored his siblings and their children. He doesn't just envy Lucifer, he envies and feels inferior to all his siblings and even his father.
  • Naked First Impression: Shows up completely naked to a very shocked Lula McCoy, with the unsurprising reaction.
  • The Older Immortal: Michael's the most senior archangel and is the de facto commander of the Heavenly Host in the Presence's absence.
  • The Omnipotent: He's the second most powerful being in the universe, equaled only by his brother, Lucifer, and surpassed only by their creator, the Presence.
  • Parents as People: When he tries to reach out to his daughter Elaine, things don't go to well, and he admits he doesn't have to forgive him or grow to love him as a parent for being absent most of her life.
  • Perma-Stubble: Notably has one.
  • Sarcasm-Blind: He's so detached to most of human culture that sarcasm and idioms in general tend to confuse him.
  • Sibling Rivalry: As much as he tries to deny it, he still feels a rivalry towards his brother Lucifer even after eons.
  • Supernatural Gold Eyes: Has amber-orange eyes and he's the second in command to The Presence.
  • They Call Him "Sword": His human alias is Michael Sword.
  • What Is This Feeling?: Being called out by Raphael and realizing how insufferable his siblings think of him finally makes Michael realize what a crappy person he's been, crying and acting human for the first time, to his utter surprise.

    Uriel
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/uriel_demiurgos__earth_27__commission_by_phil_cho_ddoekwk_fullview.jpg

The eldest daughter of Heaven. She created the Garden of Eden, taught agriculture to Adam and Eve, and protected the Garden with her flaming sword. Even today, when she is not on assignment fulfilling the duties of Heaven, she is often to be found in the same paradisiacal pocket dimension.

  • Archangel Uriel: After Michael, Gabriel and Raphael, Uriel is the most well known of archangels.
  • Been There, Shaped History: She happens to be the Angel who, alongside her son Rrall, inflicted the Ten Plagues of Egypt with Moses.
  • Chosen Conception Partner: Fall from Grace #6 reveals she allowed herself to get pregnant by Lorin Hammon around the same time Raphael impregnated Hazel because she was given a supernal endowment by The Presence and she wanted to give Raphael and Lorin a child.
  • Dark Is Not Evil: She may have black wings, black hair and red eyes, but she's no fallen angel and she's still one of the most powerful angels in existence.
  • Flaming Sword: Her weapon of choice, which she used to protect the Garden of Eden and its inhabitants.
  • Gender Flip: Uriel is usually represented as a male angel, but here she's a female angel.
  • Goth: Gives that impression with her half-shave hairstyle, the black hair with strands of different colors and fingernails painted black.
  • Irony: As noted by Gabriel, despite being a rather famous archangel, she doesn't know much about the bible.
  • Lazy Alias: The alias she takes while in the human world is Uriel Stone.
  • Lazy Bum: While she can be motivated, particularly in artistic endeavors, pursuit of beauty, or a chance to make bland into spectacular - she usually prefers to linger in the Garden of Eden, sitting in the shade of a tree while dipping her feet in a cool stream.
  • Light Feminine Dark Feminine: She has black wings, black hair and red eyes to Saraquael's indigo eyes, silver wings and blonde hair.
  • Red Eyes, Take Warning: She has red eyes and, just for the record, she's the one who expelled Adam and Eve from the Garden of Eden.
  • Sloth: Her major flaw is that Uriel is lazy and lacks ambition.
  • Statuesque Stunner: She's 5'10"/178cm tall, and like all female angels, quite beautiful.
  • Tomboy and Girly Girl: She's the Tomboy to Saraquael's Girly Girl.
  • Truly Single Parent: She and Saraquael imbued their essence on a couple of unhatched Angel crystals, partially cloning themselves physically and metaphysically to create their daughters Camael and Suriel.
  • Unkempt Beauty: She may look a bit disheveled with the loose jacket, tank top, shorts and punk-like hairstyle, but she's still an archangel, and as such very attractive.

    Raphael
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/raphael_demiurgos__earth_27__commission_by_phil_cho_ddkok3v_fullview.jpg

Raphael is known for his brilliant green wings, his stern demeanor, and his healing abilities (which are legendary even among angels). Though once a gracious and loving angel, Raphael has lost his faith in the experiment known as Humanity and has turned his focus inward to improving the Heavenly Host and his own station. As the Keeper of Laws, he is often considered to be the third in Heaven's chain of command, beneath the Presence and Michael. Raphael once held the title of Metatron, over two thousand years ago, and longs for the day he might be restored to that title.

  • Agent Peacock: Has wings like the tail of a peacock, is rather cynical and one of the most powerful angels in existence. He even mentions wanting a manicure when returning to his apartment.
  • Archangel Raphael: After Michael and Gabriel, he's the most well known of angels.
  • Badass Bureaucrat: He's the one who crafted most of Heaven's Celestial Bureaucracy and he's one of the most powerful angels in existence.
  • Badass in a Nice Suit: Like Lucifer and Michael, Raphael wears a grey suit and he's one of the seven original archangels.
  • Badass Longcoat: Wears a black long coat over his suit.
  • Greed: Raphael's major flaw is greed.
  • Hidden Depths: Despite Raphael's general attitude towards his siblings, he actually has come to regret some of the actions he took thousands of years ago in order to get worship, especially homophobia.
  • Hide Your Gays: He has actually been in the closet before there were even closets, and while his siblings are sort of aware of it, Michael remains completely in the dark his brother is only sexually attracted to men.
  • Hoist by His Own Petard: He and Michael helped craft the dogma that would become Christianity for centuries until it became highly homophobic, which affected Raphael but was unable to express his discomfort.
  • Interspecies Romance: He's an archangel and is in a relationship with a man named Lorin Hammon.
  • Lazy Alias: His alias in the human world is simply Raphael Glass, and he wears glasses.
  • One-Night-Stand Pregnancy: He impregnated Hazel McNamara during a one night stand on Halloween. For which purpose he needed to create a new Nephilic vessel is unknown.
  • Purple Is Powerful: Wears purple and, after Michael, he's the most powerful angel in Heaven.
  • Rules Lawyer: As Keeper of the Divine Law, it is his job to ensure the laws of the Presence are followed. He's certainly not above trying to find a loophole to help himself.
  • Stoic Spectacles: Wears glasses that fit his stern demeanor.
  • Straight Gay: You wouldn't know he was gay unless he told you or you met his boyfriend Lorin.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: Calls out Michael on his aloofness towards him and their other siblings, his racism towards humans and what an insufferable prick he's been for millennia. That actually does shake Michael.

    Saraquael
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/saraquael_demiurgos__earth_27__commission_by_phil_cho_ddkqmj2_fullview.jpg

A meek and quiet angel who is known to be a patient listener and wise adviser. Saraquael rarely leaves the Silver City as she is kept busy overseeing the logistics of Heaven, its intake of Souls, and acting as arbiter in disputes among her siblings.

  • All Girls Want Bad Boys: She admits to Leon and Donna that bad boys had always been her type, as exemplified with Apollyon, Shamash and Destruction.
  • The Chessmaster: Sara, with the help of Destruction, came up with a highly complex and unforeseen plan to help her Father to retire, including getting her siblings banished from Heaven so they wouldn't interfere and restoring Lucifer's wings to ensure Hell can't take advantage of the absence of The Presence while Heaven chooses a new head.
  • The Dutiful Daughter: As much as she hates to admit it, she has always been incredibly dutiful towards her parents.
  • Famous Ancestor: Well..., she's the mother of Senael, the ancestor of whom the MacKay family ultimately descends from.
  • Hair of Gold, Heart of Gold: Blonde haired and alongside Gabriel, one of the kindest archangels and the closest to mortals.
  • I Have Many Names: Saraqael, Sarakiel, Sara Quayle, and Sarah Kyle.
  • Immortality Bisexuality: She's bi and one of the oldest and most powerful angels in existence.
  • Informed Attribute: Briefly described as meek and quiet, when in fact she's for the most part outspoken and friendly.
  • In-Series Nickname: Sara, Raquael, Suri, and Bookkeeper.
  • Interspecies Romance: She's an Archangel and in a relationship with an Endless.
  • Let Us Never Speak of This Again: Tells Lucifer to not tell anyone, including herself, that she had to carry him bridal style and that he snuggled in her breasts like their mother.
  • Light Feminine Dark Feminine: She has blonde hair, silver wings and indigo eyes, which contrasts with Uriel's black wings, black hair and red eyes.
  • Lovable Sex Maniac: Her major flaw is Lust, and according to the Book of Enoch, Saraquael was known to lust the daughters of men, teaching early humans the moon calendar.
  • Official Couple: Dating Destruction of the Endless, visiting him frequently while on Corto Maltese.
  • Red Baron: Radiant, Merciful Replenisher, Keeper of Souls.
  • Related in the Adaptation: She's also the mother of Araquel and Suriel, as well as the grandmother of Nikki Nemzer.
  • Star-Crossed Lovers: With Apollyon/Abaddon, whom she tried to keep away from the rebellion knowing the punishment that awaited them if they failed.
  • Statuesque Stunner: She's 5'10"/178cm tall, and very much gorgeous.
  • Tomboy and Girly Girl: She's the Girly Girl to Uriel's Tomboy.
  • Truly Single Parent: She and Uriel imbued their essences on a couple of unhatched Angel crystals, partially cloning themselves physically and metaphysically to create their daughters Suriel and Camael.

    Gabriel
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/gabriel__enhanced___e_27__commission_by_phil_cho_denb7ka_fullview.jpg

More than any of his brethren, Gabriel loves humanity and the cultures of Earth. Gabriel may be regarded as one of the least among his peers in terms of raw power, but he is often regarded as being as cunning as Lucifer, only with a heart of gold. Until recently, he was the Metatron of Heaven, serving as the Presence's most holy messenger, but then Gabriel decided to leave Heaven on a journey of self-discovery and has left the title to his Ariel Apprentice.

  • Amicable Exes: Former lover of Jophiel and they still consider each other friends.
  • Archangel Gabriel: He's the Archangel Gabriel, who after Michael is the most famous of the Archangels.
  • Badass Pacifist: He's the most compassionate of the Archangels, refusing to take arms when Lucifer rebelled. He's still one of the strongest entities in Heaven.
  • Better as Friends: While he and Penemue were once lovers, when he decided to return to his angelical duties, their relationship became professional, to Penny's disappointment.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: He's the nicest of Archangels, but don't upset him, as Flag the Imp found out.
  • Big Eater: All Archangels have a major flaw, in Lucifer's case is Pride and Raguel's was Wrath. In Gabriel's case is gluttony, but he's fine with that.
  • Commonality Connection: He became close with Jophiel over their shared interest in humanity.
  • Composite Character: He also takes the place of St. Joseph, living as a humble carpenter and raising his son Jesus of Nazareth.
  • Cool and Unusual Punishment: Sent Flag the Imp to some place were he will suffer for annoying him, although not enough to kill him.
  • God Guise: Although it wasn't his intention at first, he became the king of the Tuatha Dé Danann under the guise of a celtic daimon named Bres.
  • Good Parents: Of all the Archangels, he was the most involved in the raising of his children, and they turned out as good people.
  • Interspecies Romance: He's the former lover of Rosacarnis, daughter of Nergal. He also fathered Imogen with the Celtic Daimon Brig when he was in Ireland.
  • Intrigued by Humanity: More than any of his brethren, Gabriel loves humanity and the cultures of Earth.
  • Luke, I Am Your Father: He reveals he's the father of Wally the God-Boy.
  • Massive Numbered Siblings: Being created by The Presence, he's the True Brother of Lucifer, Michael, Raphael, Raguel, Saraquael and Uriel. He's also the spirit sibling of Belial, Duma, Leon, Donatella, Amenadiel, Araquel, Asmodel, Azazel, Heraphon, Lilith, Remiel, Sandalphon, Suriel, Traumiel and Zauriel.
  • Out-Gambitted: Discovers he was completely out-played by his sister Saraquael, who took advantage of his protectiveness towards his children to get him exiled from Heaven so he wouldn't interfere with her plan to help The Presence to retire.
  • Outliving One's Offspring: His son, the half-angel Ruadán, was killed by the Tuatha Dé Danann Goibniu trying to protect his father, who had been mistaken for one of the Foimori. He also outlived his son Jesus of Nazareth, even if he eventually resurrected.
  • Passing the Torch: Served as The Voice of the Presence for two thousand years, until he decided to give the title and the name Metatron to the young Ariel Donatella.
  • Perma-Stubble: Goes well with his carefree personality.
  • Punny Name: His alias in the human world is Gabriel Horn. As in, Gabriel's Horn.

    Raguel
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/raguel_earth_27.jpg
For his current self, see The Society page

  • Back from the Dead: After being presumed dead for eons, Raguel is now back to the world of the living.
  • Composite Character: He was known as Hou Yi while in China, and he earned the respect of the Shen after he killed nine other daimons who wanted to obtain the worship of the sun.
  • Good Parents: For all his wrath, he was actually a good father for Lladiz, and his death greatly affected them.
  • Master Archer: He received a bow from Chang'e, and he used it to slay nine daimons with ease.
  • Significant Green-Eyed Redhead: He has green eyes, dark red hair and is the seventh Archangel.
  • Wrath: His fatal flaw, which is why in a moment of recklessness he tried to attack Lucifer, who was expecting it and was armed with relics capable of slaying angels.

Thrones

    Heraphon
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/heraphon_earth_27.jpg
Prince Heraphon, Commander of the Eagle Host, child of Michael.
  • Adaptational Attractiveness: Looks more conventionally attractive than the ethereal look he had in the comics.
  • Been There, Shaped History: Heraphon was also known as Longinus, and with his spear he pierced the body of Jesus Christ, not knowing he was his own cousin.
  • Birds of a Feather: Kind of literally, but as Angelia, Heraphon got along with Zeus' winged Throneguard; Nike, Bia, Cratus, and Zelus.
  • Fatal Flaw: His pride, which is what angered Zeus and nearly costed them their life, forcing them to undergo the ritual of rebirth.
  • High-Voltage Death: Being on the wrong end of Zeus' divine lightning nearly left them for dead, and they even had to spend a few centuries at Hades' court.
  • Pride: Despite his personal humility, Heraphon remains a deeply proud individual. Though his pride is no longer personal, he expresses potent pride concerning Michael, the Eagle Host, Pax Dei, and the rest of the Heavenly Host - in roughly that order of importance. If any of those are insulted in his presence, Heraphon is prone to becoming hostile, perhaps even violent.
  • Psychic Powers: Heraphon can communicate with others by means of psychic channels. He can also alter or erase memories, read thoughts, cause mass confusion, or cause people to see or hear convincing illusions.
  • Reincarnated as the Opposite Sex: Born Angelia as the daughter of Michael and Hera, after letting her hubris put her on the wrong side of Zeus' lightning and being casted to the Underworld, Heraphon underwent the ritual of rebirth and became a male, taking the name Angelos.
  • Related in the Adaptation: Being Michael's child, that makes him half-brother of Elaine Belloc. As the child of Hera, Heraphon is also related to the Greek Pantheon, much like his cousin Aradia.
  • Spear of Destiny: He used to wield the Pillar of the East that once belonged to the Titan Hyperion, and now it's known as the Spear of Destiny and the Spear of Longinus.
  • "Well Done, Son" Guy: Heraphon was humbled by Zeus which drove him to prove himself to earn his way back into the good graces of the Olympians. This only caused him to inadvertently betray the interests of his father's family. Disgusted by himself, Heraphon now strives to continually prove his devotion to the Presence, his father, Pax Dei, the Eagle Host, and the rest of the Kingdom of Heaven.

    Asmodel
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/asmodel__earth_27__commission_by_phil_cho_dektwin_fullview.jpg
Prince Asmodel, Commander of the Bull Host, child of Raphael.
  • Adaptational Attractiveness: Instead of a multi-eyed, minotaur-like brute, Asmodel looks pretty human, albeit untrustworthy.
  • All Myths Are True: He's the Bull of Heaven, the mythical beast who in the Epic of Gilgamesh was sent by Inanna to destroy Gilgamesh/Senael.
  • Child of Two Worlds: He's the son of one of the seven Archangels and of the half-demon daughter of Lilith, Mother of Monsters.
  • Clashing Cousins: His cousin Senael nearly killed him in revenge for killing Enkidu and told him he would kill him if he ever saw him again.
  • Fatal Flaw: Asmodel carries his demonic heritage as both his secret weapon and a constant chip on his shoulder. While it keeps him motivated to prove himself to be the best among the thrones, it also is something which can be used against him to stir his emotions. Caution: It might not be wise to anger the cosmic being who has literally been responsible for the deaths of countless other cosmic beings.
  • Instant Expert: As the child of a goddess of war, Asmodel has an innate warrior's spirit. He can masterfully use any weapon he finds in his possession and has a keen understanding of strategy and tactics.
  • Living Lie Detector: As the child of a goddess of justice, he also has an innate ability to sense if someone is lying to him which he will detect as a psychic signal the moment they consider whether their lie was believed by him.
  • Magic Knight: Asmodel is an accomplished sorcerer, able to channel magic of supernal, infernal, and eldritch qualities. Though his supernal sorcery is most powerful, of which he holds the rank of grandmaster, he is considered a master infernal and eldritch sorcerer.
  • Power Perversion Potential: As the child of a goddess of sex, Asmodel can also use his telepathy to discern who someone is sexually attracted to, who they have had intercourse with in the past, and what, if any, of their sexual proclivities may include.
  • Tangled Family Tree: Being the son of Raphael and Inanna makes him nephew of Shamash, grandson of Lilith and Sin, and related to countless lilim and other creatures.
  • Token Evil Teammate: While he has proven himself loyal to heaven, he's still a ruthless torturer always eager to punish those he thinks have committed a crime against the Pax Dei.
  • Torture Technician: Skilled in all manner of torture, whether it be physical, psychological, mystic, or any combination thereof, Asmodel is an accomplished expert in the craft. He has been instructed in this by his mother and Sandalphon, but has surpassed both in this particular field as he has honed this talent to a surgical science. Asmodel personally oversees many rehabilitation or punitive measures needed to be taken against wayward angels and usually insists he be the one to interrogate any captured enemies of Heaven.
  • Uneven Hybrid: His mother is the half-daimon, half-demon Inanna/Ruby, making him a quarter demon.

  • Instant Expert: As the child of a god of war, Rrall has an innate warrior's spirit. She can masterfully use any weapon she finds in her hand and has a keen understanding of strategy and tactics.
  • Magic Knight: Rrall is not a gifted sorcerer, but she has mastered a few potent spells and rituals, particularly among counterspells. What spells she does know include the detection of prophets, the summoning of great numbers of animals, bringing down fire from the sky, turning water into blood, transforming sticks into snakes, and tapping into The Darkness to create unholy murk to envelope a large region.
  • Non-Human Humanoid Hybrid: Her mother is the Archangel Uriel, while her father is the Egyptian God Maahes.
  • Pride: Rrall has a strong sense of personal worth. She does not abide being any one's lesser, particularly among her peers. This all likely stems from the sense of rejection she felt knowing that her father and his family wanted nothing to do with her.
  • Reincarnated as the Opposite Sex: Born male, after being fatally injured holding off the Egyptian army as the Hebrews crossed the Red sea, Rrall underwent the Rite of Rebirth and became female.
  • Statuesque Stunner: She's 5'9"/1.75m tall and quite the stunner.

    Sandalphon
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/sandalphon_earth_27.jpg

  • Ambiguous Gender: While her current body is female, Sandalphon gender changes whenever they go through the Rite of Rebirth. It's not clear which gender they were born with when they hatched as the oldest Principalities.
  • Angsty Surviving Twin: During the Samael Rebellion, their twin brother, the original Metatron, was killed by the First of the Fallen. This led them to inflict the Fallen with a spell that stripped him of his name, memories and angelic Grace, a punishment even the Presence found excessive.
  • The Archmage: She's considered an unrivaled Supernal sorcerer, which is one of the reasons why every time they undergo the Rite of Rebirth, their personality and memories are barely altered when compared to other angels.

  • Number Two: For Michael.
  • The Owl-Knowing One: They have the wings of a tawny owl growing from their shoulders, and they have an impressive range of knowledge.
  • Undying Loyalty: For Michael. Unfortunately, that loyalty and their attempts at convincing the Presence to skip Samael and make Michael heir of Heaven, and even manipulating Amenadiel into not supporting Samael, eventually led to Lucifer's rebellion.

Seraphim

    Castiel
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/castiel__earth_27__commission_by_phil_cho_ddpgb1m_fullview.jpg

  • Adaptational Backstory Change: Instead of Jimmy Novak being Castiel's vessel, Novak is merely the identity Castiel took when he descended to Earth.
  • Ambiguous Gender: Castiel assumes a new human form every time he comes to Earth. The last time he was on Earth prior to his current incarnation was during the 18th century where he had a female form. He's referred to in older sources as both male and female. Interestingly, he continues to do this even though the change alters more than just his appearance.
  • Badass Longcoat: His signature trenchcoat.
  • Big Eater: Thanks to his angel physiology, he can eat as many hamburgers as he likes.
  • The Champion: Castiel was chosen by Gabriel, the first Metatron, to be the Champion of the Sixth Palace. In such a capacity, Castiel was the captain of the guard for Gabriel's palace and would often accompany the Metatron on important assignments.
  • Cool Sword: His Sword of Ruin.
  • Dark Is Not Evil: Sure, he has black wings but he's not evil.
  • Fish out of Water: As an angel, Castiel obviously misunderstands or just doesn't get human aphorisms and sarcasm.
  • Good is Not Nice: He can be pretty pleasant when he is relaxed, but him being a soldier committed to his mission first and foremost, as well as lacking a human's sense of sensitivity or tact, can result in this.
  • Icy Blue Eyes: Castiel's eyes can become rather piercing when he is giving someone (mostly an enemy or an opponent) the Death Glare.
  • Interspecies Friendship: Forms one with Charlie Bradbury.
  • Know-Nothing Know-It-All: He also considers himself a student of human culture. He claims to be an "expert on the ways of humanity" to other angels, though his credentials are quite suspect. For instance, much of his wisdom is taken from sarcastic quips from Chuck Shurley, reality TV, strange observations he has contextually misinterpreted, and even some curious theories on human intimacy taken from internet erotica.
  • Sarcasm-Blind: It took him a long time to get sarcasm.
  • Sharp-Dressed Man: His signature suit, loose tie and trench coat.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: He loves eating hamburgers.

Of course, he could be exaggerating. He's known to lie.

  • Determinator: No matter the physical or metaphysical punishment he received for neglecting his duties, Balthazar's spirit never really broke.
  • Fallen Angel: He didn't became a devil, but chose to leave Heaven and live amongst the Fomorians as the daimon Balor.

  • Mr. Vice Guy: He's a friend of Castiel but has as major flaws greed, lust and gluttony.
  • Painful Transformation: He was forcefully converted from an Ariel to a Seraph, a process that almost killed him.
  • Perma-Stubble: A stubble beard and it goes well with his flamboyant and hedonistic personality.
  • Secret-Keeper: Kept the true identity of Gabriel a secret as long as he could and Gabriel in turn didn't reveal his identity as Balor.

    Jophiel
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/jophiel__earth_27__commission_by_phil_cho_denq3nr_fullview.jpg

A Seraph that works under Saraquael as part of the Azraelim alongside Raziel.

  • Affectionate Nickname: Jo, Jojo, Jofie, Josie, Yuffi and Zo.
  • Agony Beam: Her touch can inflict pain with no apparent injury.
  • Amicable Exes: Former lover of Gabriel and they still consider each other friends and it's implied they still have Sex with the Ex from time to time.
  • Angelic Beauty: Jophiel has inspired countless poets, artists, musicians. Jophiel is widely considered to be the most beautiful angel. Her beauty is said to be beyond compare. Her smile alone is rumored to give off a calming effect. But ironically, she dresses pretty provocatively for an agent of Heaven.
  • Bare Midriffs Are Feminine: Her shirt is short enough to display her flat stomach and she's a seductive female angel.
  • Commonality Connection: She became close with Gabriel over their shared interest in humanity.

  • Famous Ancestor: In her identity as Jolene Wilson, she's the mother of Samuel Wilson and the ancestor of the Wilson family, which includes Charles, Slade, Grant, Rose, Joey, Ava and Carter Wilson.
  • Fatal Flaw: Though most would assume Jophiel is easily consumed by Lust (and they're not exactly wrong), her biggest flaw is that she's driven by jealousy.
  • Fiery Redhead: Red hair and she almost attacked Apollyon in revenge for killing Azrael had Raziel not stopped her.
  • Green-Eyed Monster: Besides actually having green eyes, Jophiel's biggest flaw is that she hates being denied something someone else has.
  • Healing Hands: She can heal with a touch and even resurrect the recently deceased.
  • I Have Many Names: Iofiel, Iophiel, Jofiel, Jolene Kirk, Jolene Wilson, Josiel, Yofiel, Youfiel, Zophiel.

  • Living Aphrodisiac: When bored, Jophiel likes to use her biomancy magic to manipulate the hormone levels of mortals.
  • The Mentor: For Suriel.
  • Ms. Fanservice: She's a beautiful redhead in a seductive pose whose outfit consists of a cowgirl-style shirt that exposes her cleavage and midriff, plus tight jeans. And her weapon of choice is a whip.
  • Number Two: She spent many years working as Gabriel's closest assistant, and the two even became lovers, but they broke up when they picked different sides in the Morningstar rebellion. Later, when Gabriel was chosen to sire a Planetary Shaman, Jophiel served as his wing-woman and acted as a herald, announcing the birth to wise persons and humble shepherds alike.
  • Playing with Fire: She can manipulate fire to hurl fireballs, extinguish flame, or manipulate heat. When she uses this ability, her eyes glow and her hair becomes hot to the touch.
  • Red Baron: The Angel of Beauty and the Red Shepherdess. Plus she actually has red hair.
  • Significant Green-Eyed Redhead: Has bright red hair and green eyes and she's the Angel of Beauty and a member of the Azraelim.
  • Sleeping with the Boss: She became the lover of her direct superior, Gabriel, when she was working under him.
  • Spot the Imposter: Being very familiar with Uriel and Saraquael, she was the first to notice their daughters Suriel and Camael were not the same beings.
  • Statuesque Stunner: Officially stands at 5'11"/180cm tall a pretty hot.
  • Weapon Specialization: Jophiel is often depicted with a Flaming Sword in art, and while she does have access to one and is skilled in its use, her signature weapon is her flaming whip - the Cord of Three. Through this whip, Jophiel can channel her magic with much more potency.

  • I Have Many Names: Born as Maheshabeth, she's also been known as Beth, Pravuil, Verchiel, and Vretil.
  • Irony: As a former muse, she's the source of inspiration for many, many people, including various writers, singers, and filmmakers. She left the job after getting tired of inspiring other people instead of working on her own stuff. Unfortunately, when she sat down to create something, she ended up with writer's block.

Though sheer determination, she has been able to find part-time work as a freelance writer, occasionally selling some articles or essays to websites.

Other Angels

    Araquel / Gadreel
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/gadreel_earth_27.jpg

  • Blackmail: Reveals to Eve that he's been secretly gathering information on the divine and threatening to expose them while pretending he was also a victim, all in order to get Adam his freedom.

  • Embarrassing Nickname: Lilith's Boy-Toy and The Original Chump.
  • Good Old Fisticuffs: Considering himself not worthy of his flaming sword, Gadreel prefers to fight using his fists, feet and wings. He is also quite capable at improvising weaponry.
  • Fatal Flaw: Lust. Being unable to control his libido is what caused his banishment and has gotten him into trouble more than once.
  • Hellbent For Leather: Wears a black leather coat.
  • I Have Many Names: Araciel, Arakiel, Araqael, Araqiel, Aretstikapha, Arkas, Arkiel, Arqael, Ezekiel Nemzer, Death Bringe.

  • Lust: Just like his mother Saraquael, Gadreel is a flawed being who relies on sex to decompress from the various stresses placed upon him.
  • Meaningful Rename: When he was banished from Heaven, he changed his name Araquel (meaning "World of God") to Gadreel (meaning "Walled Off from God").
  • My Greatest Failure: Letting himself be seduced by Lilith, which gave the Mother of Monsters and Ophur the Serpent the insight they needed to enter the Garden of Eden and cause the expulsion of Adam and Eve.
  • Once Done, Never Forgotten: Yeah, not only he can't let go of his mistake with Lilith, other beings also remind him on occasion about his failure.

    Wally the God-Boy (Wallace Johnson)
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/wally_the_god_boy.jpg

Wally Johnson, also called Wally the God-Boy, is a mysterious boy who claims he's God. If he isn't, he's at least got a unique, diverse and potentially powerful set of powers.

  • A Child Shall Lead Them: Becomes the new King of Heaven after the Pax Dei and Sandalphon awaken his Presence memories.
  • Batter Up!: Always carrying his signature baseball bat.
  • Everyone Is Related: Thanks to the revelation of being the biological son of Gabriel and Rosacarnis. From his father's side with the Presence being technically his grandfather, he's the paternal nephew of Lucifer, Michael, Raphael, Raguel, Saraquael, Uriel, Amenadiel, Araquel, Asmodel, Azazel, Belial, Duma, Heraphon, Leonardo, Remiel, Sandalphon, Tali, Traumiel, Imogen, Lilith, Ran Va Daath, Suriel, Zauriel and Donatella and cousins with Senael, Etrigan, Mazikeen and Elaine Belloc. While his mother's side he's the maternal half-brother of the Constantine Cambions and the maternal grandson of Death of the Endless and grandnephew of Dream, Desire, Destiny, Despair, Destruction and Delirium.
  • God in Human Form: Claims to be this. There's no way to be sure unless an actual divine being confirms it. He really is God, but not the Presence themselves, instead he's the belief in God as seen by humans, given to the soul of a Nephilim fathered by Gabriel and Rosacarnis.
    • After his memories are unlocked by the Pax Dei, he assumes the Throne of Heaven while his other parts wander Earth freely.
  • Raised by Grandparents: Lost his parents when he was a baby, so he was raised by his grandparents.
  • Reality Warper: Has a degree of this, creating small miracles when he wants to.
  • Unwitting Instigator of Doom: He met Terry Bumbescu and tried to convince him that the world wouldn't be better without him, but despite it Terry jumped in front of a car. He then talked with near dead Terry and made the world forget about Terry's existence.

    Noah Johnson
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/noah_johnson__earth_27__commission_by_phil_cho_ddvgbwc_pre.jpg

The grandfather of Wally Johnson and a pastor.

  • Composite Character: Noah Johnson, the grandfather of Wally the God-Boy, is combined with God Johnson from the Lucifer (2016) series.
  • Cool Old Guy: He's quite a cool guy and a former priest.
  • Crisis of Faith: The loss of his biological son and his wife left him at a loss of faith, and the death of his beloved wife Wanda made him almost cross the Despair Event Horizon, but he snapped out of it and begged God for the strength to beat the disease and be there for Wally. Amenadiel showed up on his doorstep and gave him a buckle that cured all his illnesses. Ever since then he has been The Atoner.
  • Died Happily Ever After: After being fatally injured by Asmodel, Eden reassures him that Wally is safe and that he can reunite with his wife in peace, allowing him to pass peacefully.
  • Good Shepherd: Former priest and quite friendly towards the angels, not judging Lucifer's name and assuming he's evil because of it. He also raised Wally like he was his own son.
  • The Lost Lenore: His wife Wanda Johnson. Her loss almost made him lose his faith and nearly made him die of despair too.
  • Pals with Jesus: He's friends with the Angel Amenadiel, and his dog is God, or at least the Wisdom and Knowledge of God in a dog.
  • Red Herring: At first Gabriel and Lucifer believe he's the human form of The Presence, when in reality it's his dog.

    Anna Milton / Hanael
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/hanael__earth_27_gives_you_wings__by_roysovitch_df3vjrg_fullview_0.jpg

Before she was the mortal Miss Milton, Anna was Hanael — an angel of the Order of the Ariel and former commander of Castiel and Balthazar. Due to her personal connections to an archangel, she was gifted a virtued grace. However, when she fell to Earth, forsaking Heaven, she cut off her wings and had most of her grace removed, swapped out for a soul. This made her more or less human.

  • The Ageless: Her residual angelic grace grants her immortality, so she doesn't age despite being technically human.
  • Angelic Beauty: Anna has a very innocent and ethereal look.
  • Angel Unaware: She's actually an angel, though no one was aware of that before the reveal. Including Anna herself.
  • Best Friend: She's the best friend of Saraquael.
  • Break the Cutie: Being shunned by her fellow angels while on the Pax Dei for something it wasn't her fault, and witnessing the atrocities of The Morningstar Rebellion, caused her to mentally break, leaving her catatonic for centuries
  • Elegant Classical Musician: Master musician and plays the piano, guitar, drums, accordion, and harmonica.
  • Fallen Angel: Anna gave up her grace and literally fell from Heaven to become human.
  • Jack of All Trades: Thanks to her nature as a former Ariel, Anna is a master artist, chef, master of art history, biologist, musician, vocalist and master of confectionary history and trivia.
  • Jumped at the Call: While Dean and Chuck didn't want to involve her in their quest to rescue Sam from Azazel, she jumps at the opportunity to help them as soon as possible.
  • I Have Many Names: Anael, Aniel, Anya'il Hannael, Haniel and Jane Doe.
  • I Just Want to Be Normal: She prefers life as a normal human girl to that of an angel warrior and general, and wishes she doesn't have to get her grace back.
  • In-Series Nickname: Anna Banana, Hannah, Red.
  • Old Flame: Of Chuck Shurley, and she's actually very eager to continue their relationship once they meet again.
  • Redhead In Green: She's a redhead and wears a green jacket.
  • Significant Green-Eyed Redhead: Has red hair, green eyes and she's a former angel.
  • Sweet Tooth: She has a sweet tooth, as demonstrated by the chocolate bar on her picture.

    Maggie Carpenter / The Magdalene
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/maggie_carpenter_earth_27.jpg
The Magdalene, Apostle, High Priestess of Hathor, Judge, Prophetess, The Beloved, Grand Maiden, The Levantine, Penitent, Myrrhbearer, Rose Mother, Saint, Seven-Sinned, she is the wife of Josh Carpenter/Jesus of Nazareth.
  • The Charmer: Maggie is a gifted storyteller, singer, and dancer. With little effort (and often by accident), she can captivate the minds and imagination of those who hear her enchanted voice, catch her gaze, or behold her graceful movements.
  • Divine Parentage: She and Jesus are the ancestors of the Magdalene, who take their name from her.
  • Happily Married: She married Jesus not due to his power, but for the person he was, and they have been together for countless centuries.
  • Hot Witch: Though Maggie lost access to most of her magic when she lost her infernal endowment, her knowledge remained intact. With her supernal power, though quite weaker than her original endowment, Maggie can cast spells she has reworked to utilize a different power source. Maggie's ritualistic knowledge is second to few.
  • Hyper-Awareness: Maggie is aware of powerful events happening on her plane of existence. She is also attuned to a psychic frequency which angels use to communicate with one another across most of reality and its many subsidiary realities.
  • I Have Many Names: First Witness, Forsaken but not Forgotten, Maggie Carpenter, Mary of Magdala, Mary Magdalene, The Rose of Galilee, Siduri.
  • In-Series Nickname: Apostle of Apostles, Beloved Disciple, The Bride, The Chalice, Desert Rose, Ebonite, Equal of Apostles, Thirteenth Apostle, The First Convert, The First Disciple, Rose of Redemption.
  • MacGuffin Super-Person: Known as the Holy Grail, her body has been made an ideal conduit for the reception and containment of vast amounts of magical power. Previously, she could capture the essence of gods, spirits, elementals, demons, angels, fae, and other ephemeral beings; containing them within her for considerable periods of time, and using their power for herself. Though it is not known if Maggie can still do this, her body does draw in an abundance of power passively — power which is transmitted though her bloodline to her descendants. This effect of causes all her descendants to be born female, bearing a strong resemblance to Maggie, and having the birthright of Supernal Judgeship. These descendants are known as the Magdalena.
  • Old Friend: She considers Lourdes Lucero/The Iberian, Thessaly/The Thessalian, The Corinthian, Rowena MacLeod/The Caledonian her old friends. She's still friends with Ystina.
  • Only Known by Their Nickname: Magdalene is just the place she originates from, her real name, much like The Thessalian and The Corinthian, is unknown.
  • Our Founder: She founded the Great Coven alongside Lucifer Morningstar, but nowadays she's no longer at his service thanks to Jesus purging her body from the infernal essence.
  • Psychic Link: She's The Seven Sinned for a reason. Maggie retains a deep connection to the Ogdru Jahad. She can hear their telepathic cries when they are contained and sense where they are to be found when released. They no longer hold power over her nor does she have any direct power over them.
  • Spear of Destiny: The Spear of Destiny. Though this weapon is currently lost, it was Maggie who claimed the discarded spearhead broken from the Pillar of the East by Heraphon at the crucifixion of Yeshua. She used the blood on the spear to work magic to summon Yeshua's father. Later, this spear would become her weapon and the weapon of the Magdalena — used in the defense of the innocent and to aid later Planetary Shamans. Though the spearhead has many great powers, including being consecrated as a telum dei, the Magdalena valued it as it had internalized some of the blood of Yeshua and this would confer Yeshua's empathy upon those of Yeshua's bloodline (as it did Maggie when she was pregnant with her daughter Sarah).
  • Stronger Than They Look: By merit of her muscle fibers being reinforced with supernal power, Maggie is more physically capable than her human appearance would suggest. This is especially true with her resilience. Judges and witches alike are known to be difficult to kill through physical violence and this remains true for Maggie as well.

    Buddy Ha / Buddha
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/the_sage_earth_27.jpg

The Enlightened One. Born Siddharta Gautama, he currently lives with Jesus and Maggie Carpenter.

  • Ascend to a Higher Plane of Existence: Of course he did it thanks to achieving Nirvana. Buddha's new body is a manifestation brought on by immense intrinsic energy willed into being and made reality by a powerful soul. While theoretically all human souls are able to do this without the use of sorcery or uncommon heritage, it is extremely rare to find a soul with so much discipline as to make this possible.
  • Back from the Dead: He died at age 80, but came back from the dead after achieving Nirvana.
  • Dimensional Traveler: The Buddha can shed his corporeal form at will to traverse the astral plane or transition to different dimensions with which he is familiar. As the process for his remanifestation is difficult and exhausting, he does not do this lightly — preferring to travel and visit places the old-fashioned way whenever available.
  • Flight: Buddha can, at will, defy gravity to float freely or fly at incredible speed.
  • Hyper-Awareness: Buddha is aware of certain events happening on his plane of existence. He is also aware of the Tapestry, the Progenitors, and many other bits of esoteric knowledge and wisdom.
  • I Have Many Names: The All-Seeing, The All-Transcending Sage, Araham, The Awakened One, Bhagavato, Bibek "Buddy" Ha, The Blessed One, The Buddha, Buddy Cobain, Buddy Grohl, Bull Among Men, Dispeller of Darkness, The Dharmaraja, Enlightened One, The Eye, Jina, Kinsman of the Sun, Knower-of-Many-Worlds, Lokanatha, Lokavidu, One-Who-Had-Thus-Gone, Radiant One, The Sage of the Shakyias, Sammasambuddho, Shakyamuni, Siha, Sugata, Tathagata, Torchbearer, Varapañña
  • Ki Manipulation: Buddha can manipulate all intrinsic fields to achieve effects similar to sorcery. While he can achieve great effects using this ability, he freely admits that he is not as overtly powerful as the likes of Dr. Manhattan. Nor does he have the power or endorsement with any specific intrinsic field that could contend with a fully powered intrinsic avatar with the fully backing of their parliament.
  • Lack of Empathy: Though Buddha does not regard this as a weakness in any way, he can come off as a little impersonal and lacking emotion. This can frustrate others as he is often only motivated to action when something interests him. When something or someone is no longer of interest to him, Buddha will simply walk away.
  • Master of Illusion: Buddha can use intrinsic energy to create psychic illusions or manipulate light to create visible illusions without substance. He can similarly conjure up sound, scents, and various sensations that are not real.
  • Occult Blue Eyes: His eyes are blue and he has a third eye that also glows blue.
  • Perception Filter: Buddha has the ability to cause mortal minds to overlook that which should be plain to see. He can use this illusion to conceal himself or others from being noticed completely or simply give them a veil or mundanity. He can also impart this same effect to an object or location. Though it may hurt their business, Buddha uses this effect on his bakery so as not to disrupt the customers when supernatural beings stop by the bakery to speak very plainly with the staff about matters that most would find alarming to hear spoken.
  • Polyamory: He's in a relationship with Jesus and Magdalene, plus he was married to Yaśodhara and had three mistresses, Gopā, Mrgarjā, and Manodharā.
  • Self-Duplication: By exerting great power, the Buddha can will the intrinsic fields to create new soulless life forms, including duplicates of himself. These creations have no true independence and are merely extensions of his own consciousness until he breaks the connection and the organisms fall lifelessly to the ground until the energy that made them dissipates and returns to the ether.
  • Shout-Out: His aliases of Buddy Cobain and Buddy Grohl are nods to the 90's rock band Nirvana's lead singer and drummer, Kurt Cobain and Dave Grohl.
  • Stronger Than They Look: By merit of his muscle fibers being reinforced with intrinsic power, Buddha is more physically capable than his human appearance would suggest. He can run and leap like a deer, scale buildings and trees with the grace of a monkey, kick like a mule, swim with the ease of a dolphin, and go without food, water, or sleep for seven days without ill-effect.
  • Weather Manipulation: Buddha can influence the weather of his locality. While he cannot control the weather outright (he can't summon lightning to strike an enemy or can't make it snow immediately in the middle of a summer heatwave), he can ease it toward an outcome and it can gradually shift to align with his desire.

Prophets and Apostles

Resurrection Man (Adam / Mitch Shelley)
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/resurrection_man_earth_27.jpg

Father of All, the First Hunter, First Prophet, Dying One, Source of Death, Source of Pain and Imago Dei. Husband of Eve, ex-husband of Lilith, father of Dora, Cain and Abel, and adoptive father of Seth.

  • Age Lift: In the original comics he was born during the 20th Century, but here he first appeared in the middle of the 19th century. Being Adam himself, means he's far older.
  • Amnesiac Hero: The trauma caused by violent death and sudden removal from the afterlife usually leaves a recently resurrected Adam confused. It may take months for him to regain his entire memory.
  • Ancestral Weapon: The First Blade. Adam's jawbone blade was created from the jaw of a supernal beast slain by Lilith. The weapon has been blessed with additional power by a pact of devotion between Adam and the Presence and is filled with divine purpose. In the hands of Adam, the blade is indestructible and can pierce the flesh to smite the life from any being — mortal or otherwise.
  • Back from the Dead: He's been killed again, again, and again for who knows how long only to resurrect.
  • Badass Longcoat: Currently he wears a blue trench coat.
  • Composite Character: Adam from The Bible is combined with DC's Resurrection Man and the Supernatural's version of Cain played by Timothy Omundson.
  • Empathic Shapeshifter: "The Image of God" — Upon death and rebirth, Adam's visage will reshape itself to partially reflect the current form of Erebus — the being known as the Divine Presence, or whatever appearance is currently housing the Presence's divine grace. Currently, Adam resembles Noah Johnson, the former minister in possession of the Presence's grace.
  • Face Death with Dignity: Whenever he was about to be killed in order to harvest the worship within his heart, he would calmly accept it, reasoning it was for the greater good.
  • Human Resources: Especially during the Inquisition, during which Gadreel repeatedly killed him and harvested his heart to use the worship to strengthen divine endowments.
  • Hunter of Monsters: He's the First Hunter for a reason.
  • Identical Stranger: He sure looks similar to Noah Johnson, which is why Lucifer confused them. Turns out there's a very good reason for that.
  • I Have Many Names: A new name for every identity. Freddie Owen, Jeffrey Barnett, Lee McCarthy, John Cooper, Myron Dean, Erick McDonald, Brandy Bell, Gerald Spencer, Billy Ryan, Edward Meyer, Gilbert Moss, Edward Lane, Roger Sullivan, Anthony Nunez, Darrel Lowe, William Wells, Rhonda Thornton, Tim Farmer, Wayne Holt, Morris Higgins, Ronnie Sutton, Philip Woods, Doyle Roberson, Wilbur Arnold, Cody Peterson, Gary Rose, Donnie Gordon, Karl Horton, Cameron Webster, Roger Hill.
  • Leaked Experience: As the First Prophet, Adam siphons residual psychic energy generated by those who worship the Presence in any form. Over time, this worship builds up and grants Adam access to more miracles. The longer he survives, the more powerful he becomes.
  • Only Known by Their Nickname: Mitchell Shelley, his canon name in the comics, is merely the oldest alias he has gone by.
  • Really 700 Years Old: He's thousands of years old and has wandered Earth for millennia under different identities.
  • Resurrective Immortality: As indicated by his nickname, whenever he dies, he resurrects some time afterwards, sometimes with a different race or gender. Within moments of resurrecting, Adam's ancient prophet powers begin to emerge, giving an extraordinary ability. When Adam dies, he loses any power gained and will begin his next resurrection with a new innate ability, seemingly at random. However, Adam does retain the knowledge of how to use his powers and remains familiar in the use of each and every ability.
  • Shrouded in Myth: To the frustration of Tot Rodor, the true origin of the Resurrection Man is shrouded in mystery. His oldest known identity is Mitch Shelley, but that's it.
  • Telepathy: Adam can pressed his hand against his scar to communicate with Lilith by transmission of thoughts. Though he rarely does this as the two rarely speak to one another anymore.
  • They Killed Kenny Again: Adam is regularly killed to harvest his heart for ritual needs.
  • Wound That Will Not Heal: Adam's scar will never heal as Lilith's infernal blood sealed the scar on Adam's supernal flesh.

Josh Carpenter / Jesus of Nazareth
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/josh_carpenter_earth_27.jpg
The Son of God, Jesus of Nazareth, Good Shepherd, the Messiah, former Planetary Shaman, Prince of Peace and the son of Gabriel and Virgin Mary.
  • Actual Pacifist: Joshua will not resort to violence to defend himself, preferring to suffer the pain of injuries rather than suffer the emotional toll of having hurt another. He can be brought to violent actions when in the defense of others — particularly children.
  • Back from the Dead: Of course he did it, he's Jesus and came back from the dead after being crucified.
  • The Empath: Joshua can sense the emotions of people around him. This is a passive sense that measures the collective emotions in his area, but he can concentrate to focus on a single individual for a more in-depth assessment of their emotional state. With a touch, Joshua can override a person's emotions with his own, allow hem to share in the emotions he is sensing around him, or can temporarily purge certain emotions.
  • Healing Hands: Joshua is a powerful healer. With a touch, he can cure blindness or other physical disabilities caused by injury or illness. He can eradicate disease from a body and can even raise the dead. The use of this power is particularly taxing on him.
  • Hollywood Exorcism: By releasing a wave of supernal energy from his hand, Joshua has the power to cast demons out of possessing mortal bodies or saturate an area to the point of causing a manifested infernal a great deal of discomfort or pain, prompting them to flee. Joshua can do so from a distance for the expulsion of common demons, but may require prolonged contact to counter the influence of an archdemon.
  • Hyper-Awareness: Joshua is aware of powerful events happening on his plane of existence. He is also attuned to a psychic frequency which angels use to communicate with one another across most of reality and its many subsidiary realities. Joshua can also sense whatever someone speaks his name with the intent to call him to their location.
  • I Have Many Names: Īsā ibn Mariam, Jehovah, Jesus of Nazareth, Josh Horn, Josh Shepherd, Nazarene, Sabriel, Yeshua (birth name).
  • In-Series Nickname: Bridgeroom, Dayspring, J.C., Josh, Shiloh, Redeemer.
  • Jesus Was Way Cool: He's incredibly laid back, did miracles and helped the people even against the doctrine of Heaven and his uncles. Nowadays he owns a cupcake shop named the Immaculate Confection.
  • Mercy Kill: During his crucifixion, he asked for someone to free him of his suffering, and his cousin Heraphon did so by piercing him with his spear, the Spear of Longinus.
  • Polyamory: Married to Maggie Carpenter and has his boyfriend Buddy Ha.
  • Related Differently in the Adaptation: Instead of being God's actual son, he's his grandson, but he's still called the Son of God.
  • Related in the Adaptation: Father of Sarah Carpenter, known as St. Sarah, and ancestor of Rene Carpenter, a character from the Vigilante comic series, and of Magdalene Carpenter.
  • Sweet Tooth: Inherited from his father a love of sweets, hence owning the cupcake shop The Immaculate Confection.

    Rufus
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/rufus_earth_27.jpg
The self-proclaimed Thirteenth Apostle and a good friend of Yeshua/Jesus.
  • 13 Is Unlucky: He's the non-official thirteenth apostle and he's been forgotten by everyone on the Bible.
  • The Ageless: Thought still technically mortal, some judges have been shown to live beyond the bounds of mortality. Some, like Rufus, are even completely immune to aging. This was brought about by Rufus requesting Yeshua give him a miracle as a means of proving the shaman's power. This might make Rufus one of the sources of the legend of the immortal "Wandering Jew".
  • Back from the Dead: Should Rufus die, he tends to come back to life three days later. The often cynical Rufus regards this as both a blessing and a curse. Though it should be noted that Rufus needs to be "mostly whole" to return to life in this timeframe and if he has been significantly mutilated, his return might be delayed considerably. Still, he claims to have been reduced to ash and scattered to the winds before, only to be back to life before the next winter.
  • The Cynic: Rufus has been through a lot in the last two thousand years. He's seen more wars than he cares to count and seen what men do in the name of God. He has seen the teachings to his friend become perverted to permit hatred and heinous acts. He does not believe there is much hope for humanity.
  • Inept Mage: With great effort, Rufus can preform simple feats of magic (such as turning water to wine or walking on water as if it were dry land).
  • Pals with Jesus: Literally, and he still likes to remind him he owes him money.
  • Related in the Adaptation: He's the father of Mary Turner, grandfather of his namesake Rufus Turner, and great-grandfather of Ben, Patience, Amanda, Jack and Alicia Turner.
  • Super-Toughness: Judges are more resistant to injury than normal people, and are able to endure pain longer and easier. Some judges can even taste death and rise after a short period of time. This 'torpor' can be used to feign death. In the case of Rufus, his resilience has been significantly heightened allowing him to survive injuries that would certainly kill other judges. Rufus is still capable of death (with great effort) and he has died many times over the centuries.
  • Un-person: In a effort to conceal himself from persecution in the early days of Christianity, Rufus altered records and allowed himself to be forgotten by history and theologians. Though this has been a problem for him at times, it has allowed him to remain off the radar of certain entities until somewhat recently.
  • Wandering Jew: It's one of his titles.
  • You Owe Me: Rufus still enjoys lording over Yeshua that he still owes him a debt, though he generously hasn't bothered to add interest to the total.

    Chuck Shurley
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/chuck_shurley_earth_27.jpg

  • Adaptational Backstory Change: He's not probably God, only a human with prophetic visions.
  • Blessed with Suck: Came to see his clairvoyant abilities as a curse, since they gave him glimpses of things he shouldn't have known, like the origins of members of the Justice League. It didn't help that they showed him a vision of his parents dying, right before officers broke the news that it was all true.
  • Butt-Monkey: During Fall from Grace #11, he gets ignored by Castiel when he asks his guardian angel to defend him from Lucifer, gets his nose broken twice, and is constantly terrified of upsetting The Presence by trying to undo one of his divine commandments.
  • Crouching Moron, Hidden Badass: More "loser" than "moron", but still, he's a lot more formidable than he seems at first.
  • Meta Guy: Chuck is a prophet who writes about the Winchesters' adventures. He wasn't sure they were real people until they showed up at his door one day.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: In a moment of impulse, he accidentally uses his Ministry of Angels to restore Lucifer's wings, which means there is nothing stopping both demons and devils from going on an all-out war to control Hell.
  • Oh, Crap!: Can't help but panic when he meets Lucifer, constantly asking Castiel to smite The Devil, despite Cas not having the power to do so and being a Friendly Enemy at worst with Lucifer.
  • Pen Name: Writes under the name Carver Edlund.
  • Perma-Stubble: Has an unkempt beard that shows his general reluctance to go out.
  • Promoted to Love Interest: He's Anna Milton's ex-husband, and while their relationship was brief she still cares a lot about him.
  • Protectorate: He's under the protection of an Angel.

Rebecca Emily Rosen is a Loony Fan of the Supernatural book series and an apostle of Chuck Shurley.

  • Alliterative Name: Rebecca Rosen, which is why she usually goes by Becky.
  • Audience Surrogate: She's a Winchester fangirl with little respect for boundaries, such as the ones between the fictional characters in the Supernatural novels and the actual people she meets.
  • The Empath: Becky has an elevated sensitivity, granting her potent empathy. Using this ability, she can create "Witnesses" — filling the faithful with fervor.
  • Fangirl: Of the Supernatural book series written by Chuck Shurley.
  • I Have Many Names: Bex, SamLicker91, Superfan99, YeckyBecky.
  • Loony Fan: When Becky gets the opportunity to interact with Sam shortly after finding out that he's a real person, she has no sense of boundaries and says everything she's thinking no matter how offensive or off-putting it might be.

Order of the Magdalene

    Sister Mariella
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/the_magdalena_mariella_earth_27.jpg
76th Sacred Sister of the Daughters of the Magdalena. Daughter of Abbess Rosalia, they are blood descendants of Sarah, the daughter of the Magdalene and Yeshua of Nazareth (more commonly known today as Mary Magdalene and Jesus Christ, respectively). Through this matrilineal line, Mariella has a potent nephilic heritage. Using their birthright and the Spear of Destiny, the Magdalena have sworn to protect the world from ancient evil.
  • Bare Midriffs Are Feminine: Her Magdalena outfit shows her midriff and highlights her femininity.
  • Spear of Destiny: She's the current wielder of the Spear of Destiny, which has been passed within her order for thousands of years ever since it was discarded by Heraphon.
  • Statuesque Stunner: She stands at 175cm tall and very pretty.

    Patience Graham
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/the_magdalena_patience_earth_27.jpg
77th Sacred Sister of the Daughters of the Magdalena and Mariella's successor. She's also a frequent partner of Sara Pezzini, Danielle Baptiste and Lara Croft.
  • Bare Midriffs Are Feminine: Her Magdalena outfit shows her midriff even more than Mariella and it highlights her femininity.
  • Brave Scot: She was born in Scotland and she's undoubtedly a brave person.
  • Can't Stay Normal: She left the Magdalena training when she was a teenager, only to be forced back into action when her friend Rowan was kidnapped by a demon-worshipping cult.
  • The Coats Are Off: She takes off her hood and cape to fight.
  • Honorary Aunt: Through her friendship with Sara, Patience would also become a godmother to Sara's daughter, Hope Pezzini.
  • Irony: Though she is a sworn Sacred Sister of the Ancient Order of the Daughters of the Magdalene, she is not a nun. Nor is she particularly religious... in fact, she would probably describe herself as an agnostic as she seems to buck any notion of organized religion.
  • The Nicknamer: She calls her Spear of Destiny, 'Dez'.
  • Screw the Rules, I'm Doing What's Right!: Though she begrudgingly works with the Vatican at times, she has made it clear that she will not take orders from them. Patience lives as she sees fit and has done so ever since she left the Magdalena's training program as a girl — choosing to live on the streets for nearly ten years before circumstances brought her back into the fold.
  • Significant Green-Eyed Redhead: She's Scottish, she's a descendant of Jesus and Mary Magdalene and she has red hair and green eyes.
  • Statuesque Stunner: She stands at an impressive 6"/183cm tall and she's very much attractive.
  • Stripperiffic: Magdalena's uniform isn't exactly modest, and hers shows even more skin when takes off her cape.
