Pack of Pixies

    In General
  • Friendless Background: Isolation, both within their own courts and from larger fey society, is a recurring theme for all of the main characters.
    • Andhera has spent his entire life isolated in the depths of the Unseelie Court, with only Advisor and his neglectful mother for company, to the point that he admits to Gwyndolin that the Bloom is one of the only times he's ever had the opportunity to talk to another living being.
    • Hob suffers from criticism and a deep sense of self-loathing, due to being a classical Knight in Shining Armor in a court that greatly favors trickery and mischief over chivalry.
    • Rue is outwardly described as "the pride of the Court of Wonder", and occupies a treasured place in high society due to their role as Mistrex of the Bloom; however, they're so dedicated to that role that they've neglected any and all personal relationships, always placing their duties above themself.
    • Gwyndolin has spent her entire life within the shadow of her more successful sister the Blue Fairy and the revelation that she's actually BINX Choppley, Sole Survivor of the Court of Crafts, puts their isolation in an even more tragic light.
    • Squak and Chirp have so developed their reputation as promiscuous hedonists that few other archfey are even willing to give them a chance. Chirp, in particular, jumps at the chance to form genuine friendships with the other player characters, and is deeply hurt when Wuvvy and Hob's duel inadvertently drives a wedge in her relationship with Rue.
  • Glamour: Several of them have access to this ability; fitting, for a collection of fey. Rue and BINX both make use of theirs most of the time they are in public.
  • Immortality Pansexuality: Gender is no object to the Archfey, and nearly all of the characters flirt or are "romantically" entangled with two or more genders.
  • Non-Human Non-Binary: Andhera, Gwyndolin, BINX, and Rue are all nonbinary.

    Andhera

Andhera

Played by: Omar Najam

Class: Paladin
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/andhera.png
"It's time to be a big boy."

Scion of the Unseelie Court and its representative at the Bloom.

  • Alien Blood: Their blood is muddy and dark, being compared to cave water by Omar.
  • Amazing Technicolor Population: Their skin is a dark purple.
  • Awesome, but Impractical: Their double-bladed batwing scimitar looks very cool and scary, but isn't actually that good as a weapon. Omar Najam describes him as being not quite mature enough to realize this yet.
  • Butt-Monkey: He's a frequent victim of slapstick and Amusing Injuries throughout the campaign, much of it self-inflicted due to his social awkwardness and lack of maturity. Highlights include his humiliating wrestling match with Hob that effectively ends with Andhera getting wedgied into the air, drinking the poisoned tea right before entering the hedge maze in episode 5, and trying to take on Suntar single-handed in the Final Battle only to immediately get crisped by a massive lightning bolt.
  • Calling the Old Woman Out: In episode 8, Andhera tears into her mother, the Queen of Air and Darkness, for failing at every step of the way because of her strict adherence to "Shadow and Steel". It's so effective that she doesn't have anything to retort, only striking him with psychic damage.
  • Chick Magnet: Identified as one of the biggest catches of the Bloom both due to his high social standing in the Unseelie Court and being recently all grown up. Among the other player characters, Chirp and Squak both find him attractive, and BINX eventually falls in love with him.
  • Gag Penis: Several members of the audience of the duel in episode 3 are impressed when he shows up in soaking wet, tight-fitting cotton pants, leaving nothing to the imagination.
  • Healing Hands: He can heal wounds with a touch thanks to being a Paladin, and also knows the Lesser Restoration spell.
  • He Is All Grown Up: Chirp and Squak are both surprised to see that Andhera has turned out as a very attractive adult.
  • In-Series Nickname: Squawk and Chirp used to call him “Pillar Boy”, since he always used to duck behind pillars to hide whenever they were taken to a social event. The cousins still use it between themselves, but avoid using it in front of him.
  • I Just Want to Have Friends: One of his primary goals at the Bloom is to come out of his shell and make some friends.
  • Naïve Newcomer: Andhera is unique among the central characters in that he's very inexperienced in the social aspects of nobility — they frequently flub their intended cool lines or misread the actions of the other Lords and Ladies, to the point that they almost break down in exhaustion when in private with Advisor.
  • Parental Neglect: Their mother is an omnipresent swirling mass of “mean wind” who rarely takes time to be a physical presence in his life. When she catches some luggage that Andhera threw away, it's mentioned that this is the kindest thing they can remember her bothering to do in a long time.
  • Personal Raincloud: Has an elemental shard on the back of their neck which can summon a thunder cloud above them. The resulting rain makes them slippery enough to put up an impressive show in their duel with Hob.
    • Episode 7 reveals that the elemental shard is less on Andhera's neck, more in Andhera's neck, and represents years of emotional abuse from his mother and the wider Unseelie Court; abuse intended to stamp out Andhera's emotiveness, which is highly atypical for an Unseelie Archfey.
  • Second Love: The post-series finale episode of Adventuring Party reveals him to be this for BINX, who previously had unrequited feelings for the real Gwyndolin. BINX originally didn't come to the Bloom looking for romance, but gradually developed romantic feelings for Andhera because of his unfailing kindness and respect towards her, and they become an Official Couple at the very end of the campaign.
  • Sheltered Aristocrat: Apart from their mother, Advisor, and his rock friends, Andhera has had basically no real interaction until this Bloom, and it shows.
  • Socially Awkward Hero: Growing up, Andhera's friends were a) Advisor, and b) rocks. Squak and Chirp nicknamed him "Pillar Boy" because he would always hide behind pillars whenever his mother brought him along to a court function. He can put up a façade of confidence now, but he still has a lot of trouble.

    K.P. Hob

Captain K.P. Hob

Played by: Brennan Lee Mulligan

Race: Bugbear
Class: Fighter (Battle Master)/Rogue/Barbarian
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/kp_hob.png
"It is my fondest hope that I might die doing as you have ordered me to do."

A war hero of the Goblin Court, and the chaperone of its prince and princess at the Bloom.

  • Bad Is Good and Good Is Bad: He considers his honorable and principled nature to be a character flaw, since Goblin society is more in favor of chaos, sneakiness, mayhem, etc.
  • The Big Guy: At seven feet tall, he's immense, particularly compared to the rest of his court (many of whom are small enough to clamber around on him like a jungle gym).
  • Eating the Eye Candy: Does a very pointed Double Take when he first sees Rue in their true owlbear form.
  • Heroic Self-Deprecation: He is very critical of himself for being everything a Goblin is not: that is, kind, courageous, steadfast, honorable, and trustworthy.
  • Spell My Name With An S: He reveals the "K" and "P" in his name stand for "Knickolas" and "Pnackleless", respectively.
  • War Hero: He has been extensively decorated for his service during the war between the Unseelie and the Goblin Courts.
  • White Sheep: Being honorable and loyal makes him stand out from the Goblin Court, the culture of which is perhaps best described as Comedic Sociopathy on steroids.
  • Working-Class Hero: The only Player Character to neither be an archfey (as far as we know, at least) nor a notorious member of the aristocracy of their respective Court.

    Delloso de la Rue

Delloso de la Rue, Mistrex of the Bloom

Played by: Oscar Montoya

Class: Bard

"You can see it that way, but I see it as a fun little game for us to play."

Member of the Court of Wonder and Mistrex of Ceremonies for the Bloom.

  • Benevolent Boss: They are nothing but kind and amenable to Wuvvy, their assistant, even helping her through a hyperventilation fit to calm down after she panics over the arrival of their guests.
  • Beast and Beauty: The beautiful, fashionable, charismatic Delloso de la Rue is apparently smitten by the grizzly, monstrous, churlish Captain K.P. Hob. Later subverted when Rue reveals their true owlbear form, which is far more beastlike than Hob himself.
  • Crazy-Prepared: Their contingency plans for day one of the Bloom went at least as far down as Plan Q, which had something to do with a confetti cannon.
  • Does This Remind You of Anything?: Their decision to attend the beachside tea without their glamour, is presented as an allegory for coming out.
  • The Fashionista: Rue gets extensive outfit descriptions, and never goes anywhere looking less than their very best. They show up to the Hart Hunt in a Robin-Hood-esque outfit with nine-inch heels.
  • Impractically Fancy Outfit: Their mermaid dress (reminiscent of the Birth of Venus) is certainly an amazing look, but it's quite the impairment when it comes to running. This is one of the reasons they switch to a more practical outfit (if it weren't for the nine inch heels they wear with it) during the Great Hart Hunt.
  • Last-Name Basis: Almost exclusively referred to as Rue, which is a shortening of their last name.
  • Not So Above It All: While their duty as the Master of Ceremonies involves keeping things running smoothly, they decided to shake things up and add a little bit of chaos to this Bloom by making a wager between the Lords of the Wing and the rest of the fey present.
  • O.O.C. Is Serious Business: Rue, who usually is always a Benevolent Boss, forces Wuvvy — by way of the Command spell — to burn the letter they wrote to K.P. Hob confessing their feelings for him. They note, in their internal monologue, that this is the first time they have ever commanded her to do anything.
  • Silk Hiding Steel: They may be affable and good-humored most of the time, but they can be ice-cold when needed.
  • The Social Expert: In the high-stakes game of intrigue and etiquette, Rue is nigh-unequalled. Lord Airavis and Lady Featherfowl find that out the hard way when they gracefully navigate the attempts at power moves the pair planned for them.

    Gwyndolin Thistle-hop

Gwyndolin Thistle-hop / BINX Choppley

Played by: Surena Marie

Class: Rogue (Arcane Trickster)

"You're welcome! Do people not tell you that you're smart?"
Click here to see their true form

Lady Light of the Court of Wonder, and younger sister of the Blue Fairy.

  • Beneath Notice: After a series of social faux pas early on, she ends up being ignored by most of the nobility at the Bloom. This ends up granting them advantages on stealth checks.
    • She later begins to regain some of her social status, especially after BINX's official debut at the masquerade ball in Episode 7.
  • Brutal Honesty: Unlike most of the ever-deceptive members of the Fey Courts, Gwyndolin is very direct in their social approach.
  • Deal with the Devil: She's the patron to a human warlock named Mika, providing her with spellcasting abilities and advice in exchange for keeping her own magic sustained. Episode 7 reveals that they're a patron to two other mortals as well, one of them being a kobold named Scratch.
  • Helium Speech: Surena voices Gwyndolin with a high-pitched, cutesy voice reminiscent of voice actors in children's cartoons. This is eventually revealed to be a façade, as her real voice as BINX is lower-pitched and much more normal-sounding. She occasionally reverts to this voice in her Gwyn persona when stressed.
  • Impersonation-Exclusive Character: The real Gwyndolin is in the mortal world somewhere. This Gwyndolin is BINX Choppley, of the Court of Crafts, under a glamour.
  • Literal-Minded: When Rue sent them a flowery letter about letting them become friends and metaphorically throwing the key to their padlocked heart back to them, Gwyndolin responded by sending a literal key back.
  • Morphic Resonance: Mixed with Impostor Forgot One Detail. BINX's green eyes are the only part of their true form that they retain while disguised as Gwyndolin. This enables Andhera to recognize her when he first sees BINX in her true form in Episode 6, though he's the only one who does so.
  • Nice to the Waiter: One of the defining parts of the character is treating everyone exactly the same regardless of their social status, which sometimes translates as Brutal Honesty... but also means that she's very warm and friendly to the lower-status fey servants, and is treated kindly by them in return. They're also the only main character who's consistently kind to Wanessa, whom the other archfey view as something between a plaything and an exotic animal.
  • Non-Standard Character Design:Most of the cast have fairly realistic proportions, while Gwyndolin's are more similar to an animated fairy like Tinkerbell. BINX’s proportions line up better with the rest of the cast, and are described by them as more comfortable.
  • Passive-Aggressive Kombat: Has a knack for hitting people right in the soft spots while speaking in a very bright, friendly tone of voice.
  • She Is Not My Girlfriend: They interpret Hob's comment regarding "Andhera's suit" as "Andhera's pressing his suit as in courting Binx" rather than "Andhera's clothes", thus drawing out a very flustered response from them that they're just "cool and all". It's so obviously a lie that even Hob clocks it.
  • Sibling Rivalry: Gwyndolin harbors a certain amount of poorly-concealed resentment over her sister's fame, complaining to Hob that the Blue Fairy never shuts up about the Pinocchio thing. Later subverted — the resentment is real, but they're not actually related to the Blue Fairy at all.
  • Sole Survivor: They appear to be the only remaining member of the Court of Crafts, something that is reflected in her title card.
  • Spanner in the Works: She's not actually meant to be present at the Bloom, having intercepted the invitation sent to her sister the Blue Fairy and taken it for herself. Taken even further when it's revealed she's not even Gwyndolin; they're BINX Choppley, Sole Survivor of the Court of Crafts. Her presence tips off the rest of the main characters, Hob in particular, that something sinister is happening during the Bloom... and the Court of Wonder is playing a large part in it.
  • Walking Spoiler: It’s very difficult to talk about Gwyndolin without spoiling several major reveals. It's even harder to talk about BINX.
  • Working-Class Hero: She actually holds down the fey equivalent to a job, being the patron to at least three warlocks. This contrasts them with the idle rich nobility that make up most of the attendance of the Bloom. She also maintains much closer ties with the fey servants than most of the Archfey in the cast, using them to “accidentally” start rumors, or to ensure the Blue Fairy’s invitation is redirected to her. Part of the reason that she and Hob end up hitting it off is *because* she’s the only archfey he’s met who actually has to do work- he finally feels he has something in common with someone among the group.

    Chirp Featherfowl

Lady Chirp Featherfowl

Played by: Emily Axford

Class: Wizard (Bladesinger)
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/chirp_featherfowl.png
"Time has certainly been kind to you, and I intend to do the same."

Countess of Cluckingham, and member of the Lords of the Wing.

  • Affectionate Nickname: She and Squak never really refer to one another by their name, but call each other "cousin", and it's clear it's said with great affection.
  • Bird People: Her grandfather invented birds based on the appearance of the members of their houses. She looks like a humanoid Victoria crowned pigeon, a ground-dwelling pigeon found in New Guinea.
  • Birds of a Feather: Pun aside, she and her cousin, Lord Squak Airavis, are extremely similar in temperament and habits, which is part of why they are almost inseparable.
  • Bunny-Ears Lawyer: Despite her rakish behavior, Lady Featherfowl is adept at intrigue; she remarks that Rue's bet puts her and her cousin in a double-bind and, eventually, resolves this double-bind by offering their grandfather intelligence that would put the House of Wings in just as good a position as a profitable marriage would. This pleases Grandfather so much that he sends her a wordless token of appreciation. She also has the foresight to send letters to people just to get examples of their handwriting, on the off chance she'll need to forge a note from them later.
  • The Casanova: She has seduced many people from all Courts and, during her and Lord Airavis' introduction, outright states that they used to be rakes and scoundrels.
  • Ladykiller in Love: Due to Rue's wager, she seeks to become this by the end of this Bloom. She also notes that satisfying both the terms of Rue's wager and their grandfather's demands is going to prove quite difficult. Later revealed to be married, and says that as long as her wife is alive, she's only interested in her.
  • Like Brother and Sister: It's not that far-fetched, since they are cousins, but she and Squak are close enough to be mistaken for siblings.
  • Living a Double Life: She reveals to Squak that she is actually married to a human woman and had a fae child with her.
  • Magic Knight: She is quite skilled with a blade as well as a proficient mage.
  • Mayfly–December Romance: Married to a human woman, while being an immortal archfey herself.
  • Sword and Sorcerer: The Sword to her cousin's Sorcerer. While she is a Magic Knight, she mainly uses her magic in battle to support her combat abilities, which are remarkable.
  • Suspiciously Specific Denial: Subverted. Whenever she or Squak talks about their grandfather, they always look up at the sky and mention that he's definitely not dead. He's really not; he just lives in the sky.
  • Tattoo as Character Type: She has a tattoo of birds of paradise along her right arm, befitting her family's house and history.

    Squak Airavis

Lord Squak Airavis

Played by: Lou Wilson

Class: Bard (College of Lore)
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/squak_airavis.png
"Once our nest is established, please come by. I will show you the many ways in which I've changed."

Earl of Peckersburg, and member of the Lords of the Wing.

  • Affectionate Nickname: He and Chirp never really refer to one another by name, and simply call each other "cousin". But it's clear they say it with great affection.
  • Bird People: His grandfather invented birds based on the appearance of the members of their houses. He looks like a secretarybird, a raptor endemic to the African savannahs.
  • Birds of a Feather: Pun aside, he and his cousin Lady Featherfowl are extremely similar in temperament and habits, which is part of why they're almost inseparable.
  • The Casanova: He has seduced many people from all Courts, to the point that during his and Lady Featherfowl's introduction, he is not only cornered by a wooden fey demanding satisfaction against him for robbing his sisters of their honor by seducing them (despite all of their guests having been chosen by him and his cousin); but, in the process of apologizing, he seduces her as well.
  • The Charmer: Lord Airavis is quite the charismatic man, and has — in many occasions — wooed people in remarkably unfavorable situations, as Theodore can attest.
  • Cool Uncle: After Chirp reveals her secret of being married to a human woman and having a daughter with her, Squak fully intends to play this role when he has the chance to meet his niece.
  • I Need a Freaking Drink: His reaction to Chirp confessing to him she's actually married to not only a human woman, but also had a child with her? Chaotically tearing the room apart and yelling to their bird servants for alcohol immediately.
  • Jerkass: Squak is an elitist snob and a shameless playboy who seems to only have true positive feelings towards his cousin. Notably in order to enhance one of their grand entrances, he specifically seeks out the lowest ranking fey in the room to Polymorph into a small fish before harassing and assaulting them For the Evulz.
  • Ladykiller in Love: Due to Rue's wager, he seeks to become this by the end of this Bloom.
  • Like Brother and Sister: It's not that far-fetched, since they are cousins, but he and Lady Featherfowl are close enough to be mistaken for siblings.
  • Not in This for Your Revolution: The other characters have very high-minded reasons for preventing the villains' evil plan. Squak, however, is just invested in stopping it because his cousin is and because if the plot works he won't be able to get human actors to star in adaptations of his books anymore.
  • Really Gets Around: Like his cousin, he has bedded many a fey in the realm.
  • Suspiciously Specific Denial: Subverted. Whenever he or Chirp talks about their grandfather, they always look up at the sky and mention that he's definitely not dead. He's really not; he just lives in the sky.
  • Sword and Sorcerer: The Sorcerer to his cousin's Sword. He relies primarily on his magic to carry him into battle, and the one time he tried to fight physically, he was tossed off without difficulty.
  • Wounded Gazelle Gambit: Attempts to pull this on Theodore to distract him from his duel with Andhera.
Squak: Ah, I need — I need sexy help. Specific, and no other help will do.

The Court of Wonder

    Wuvvy

Wuvvy

Played by: Aabria Iyengar

Race: Deer Satyr
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/wuvvy.png
"You know I love you, right?"

Assistant to Delloso de la Rue.

  • Beware the Quiet Ones: She seems timid and nervous — almost at the verge of an anxiety attack most of the time. When it appears Captain Hob is leading on Rue, she challenges him to a duel, and turns into a semi-feral form. The only reason the duel does not end up being a Curb-Stomp Battle in her favor is Andhera intervening.
  • Defector from Decadence: She was a high-ranking fey within the Court of Hoof and Claw — per Aabria, she was considered a "champion" of the Court, roughly equivalent to Hob's rank amongst the Goblins — but, for reasons left partially unclear, left that Court to work for Rue in the Court of Wonder instead.
    • Although, given that the Court of Wonder is revealed to be a far more grasping entity with designs on maintaining a chokehold on the Bloom and its magic and driving its sister courts to extinction, like it did the Court of Craft, it may be more like Wuvvy defected to decadence.
  • Honey Trap: Hob encourages her to use her shapeshifting to lure in Theodore during the Hart Hunt by turning into a Hind.
  • I Want My Beloved to Be Happy: Ultimately decides this for Rue.
  • Nervous Wreck: The stress of planning the Bloom alongside Rue has caused her to be on the verge of panic in most of her appearances.
  • Shapeshifting Trickster: She can transform into a hind and a feral, bestial form, in addition to her basic Satyr form. She also implies she may be able to change into other forms. She is also very willing to assist Rue and Hobs plan to trick and lure in Theodore with her hind form in exchange for a favor from Hob.
  • Shipper on Deck: When Rue feels like they're starting to catch feelings for Hob, Wuvvy is all in for their boss to pursue him romantically. After Rue changes their mind and forces Wuvvy to burn the letter they would have sent, Wuvvy slowly leaves the room.... and then sprints away to tell it all to Hob.
Abria: You said to burn the letter. You never said to speak of the contents she read, and she has a very good memory.
    • Then almost immediately Averted, as she instead challenges Hob to a duel, ostensibly because she wants to spare Rue’s feelings, but as the season goes on, she tears up Rue’s love confession to Hob out of what seems to be jealousy.
  • Super-Speed: She can move extremely fast while getting the Bloom's latest social activities up and running; Aabria describes her as a literal blur of motion when she really gets going.
  • Undying Loyalty: She is unwavering loyal to Rue, even going so far as to challenge Hob to a duel when it seems like he's just leading Rue on.

    Prince Apollo

Prince Apollo

Played by: Aabria Iyengar

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/apollo_40.png
"I think, fighting! I love fighting!"

The "Blazing Son". He was formerly engaged to Viscountess Grabalba of the Goblin Court, but the engagement was canceled for unknown reasons

  • Blood Knight: Obsessed with a good fight and is quick to use violence to solve his problems in the Hedge Maze. Not as honorable as other examples, as seen when he attempts to murder Captain Hob in the Seelie Forest.
  • Brains and Brawn: The Brawn to Suntar's Brains. He's strong but ironically not very bright. He's also the one placed by the last portal to the mortal realm to make sure it is shut down without interruption.
  • Distracted by the Sexy: Is easily swayed from shutting down the portal to the mortal realm by some seduction from Lord Squak Airavis.
  • Marriage of Convenience: Attempts to arrange one alongside Suntar to Lord Squak Airavis in the interests of an alliance.

    The Chorus

The Chorus of the Court of Wonder

Played by: Aabria Iyengar

The rulers of the Court of Wonder, in attendance at the Bloom.
  • Dissonant Serenity: Even when Delloso de la Rue openly defies them, they never express any form of emotion beyond a faint current of energy. They merely continue to be entirely serene and certain they will get their way.
  • Hive Mind: Described as speaking “not in unison, but in harmony”.
  • White Mask of Doom: All three members of The Chorus are robed and masked, the only discerning characteristic between them is their varied heights.

The Lords of The Wing

     Grandfather

Grandfather of Squak and Chirp

Played by Aabria Iyengar

  • Abusive Parents: Squak and Chirp are absolutely terrified of him. He even reminds them that some birds eat their young.
  • Fantastic Racism: The main reason the Lords of the Wing stand apart from the Courts is because Grandfather looks down on non-flighted fey. He looks even darker on the Material Plane and its inhabitents.
  • Lean and Mean: Described as such by Aarbria."All the worst parts of birds" in a skinny, intimidating old man.

The Unseelie Court

    Advisor

Advisor

Played by: Aabria Iyengar

Andhera's advisor, who is accompanying them to the Bloom.

  • No Sense of Personal Space: Gets very close to Andhera during their first scene to keep him off balance and drive home that the Bloom will be socially difficult for them.
  • Parental Substitute: While stern with Andhera in most interactions, he still shows affection and sincere care for the boy. When describing his childhood, Andhera mentions Advisor being much more involved in his life than his mother.
  • Sincerity Mode: When asked what he wants as thanks for helping Andhera, Advisor admits that he hates it at the Bloom and just wants to go home. When Andhera arranges for him to visit a cold damp cave that feels like the Unseelie Court, Advisor is legitimately and openly grateful.

The Queen of Air and Darkness

The Queen of Air and Darkness

Played by: Aabria Iyengar

Andhera's mother, and the ruler of the Unseelie Court.

  • Abusive Parents: Of the Neglectful variety. He mentions that her retrieving his luggage is the most positive interaction he can remember having with her. Though she does spill over when she psychically attacks Andhera in the midst of her outrage while he’s Calling the Old Man Out.
  • Offing the Offspring: Implies that she does so with any children who fail to meet her lofty expectations.
  • Villain of Another Story: While the Unseelie Court is definitely playing a large role in the Big Bad’s plans to seal off portals to the material plane and keep the magic for the fey, The Queen of Air and Darkness reveals that she is not ultimately involved with the plan—instead it is Suntar who is pulling the strings.

    Suntar

Suntar

Played by: Aabria Iyengar

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/suntar.png
"We would be happy to explore those options with you, but an offer was made. And all we've had in return is strawberries."

Andhera's older sister and princess of the Unseelie Court, who is also attending the Bloom this year.

  • Big Bad Duumvirate: With Prince Apollo, as the two masterminds behind the conspiracy to close the portals to the Material Plane and hoard all the magic for themselves.
  • Big Sister Bully: Takes the time to demean and insult Andhera pretty much every time they interact, despite both being grown adults. Andhera’s comments suggest this is a pretty common pattern of behavior for her. In the finale, it's revealed that she was the one who implanted the elemental crystal in Andhera’s neck (rather than their mother) as a ways to control him. When Andhera confronts her after having it removed, she immediately escalates to trying to kill him.
  • Brains and Brawn: The Brains to Prince Apollo's Brawn in their plot to seal off the Fey Wilds from the mortal realm. Her mother calls it her plan and she is clearly a vary intelligent and powerful mage.
  • Know When to Fold 'Em: During the Final Battle, she initially tries to fight the Pack of Pixies and prevent them from foiling the ritual after Apollo’s death, but once Chirp stabilizes the portal and Andhera makes it clear that she has no chance of survival unless she surrenders, she immediately stops fighting and tries to make a run for it.
  • Lady of Black Magic: An elegant, aloof archfey who wields powerful magic in battle, rivaled only by Chirp among the main cast.
  • Marriage of Convenience: Attempts to arrange one alongside Prince Apollo to Lady Chirp Featherfowl in the interest of an alliance.
  • Sibling Yin-Yang: She’s everything that Andhera isn’t, good and bad — elegant, dignified, and confident as well as cold, cruel, and haughty.

The Goblin Court

    The Goblin King

The Goblin King

Played by: Aabria Iyengar

The king of the Goblin Court.

  • It's Personal: On one level, his orders for Captain Hob to find the culprit behind the cancellation of the engagement between Prince Apollo and Viscountess Grabalba appear to be purely political, to restore the Goblin Court’s marred reputation. Then we find out the one jilted was his daughter
  • The Trickster: As the King of the Goblin Court, he embodies this archetype.

    Lord Boil and Lady Blemish

Lord Boil and Lady Blemish

Played by: Aabria Iyengar

Head Emissaries of the Goblin Court at the Bloom.

  • My Species Doth Protest Too Much: They invoke this in their dealings with other fey, presenting themselves as more refined and reasonable than the average goblin. Subverted, as when their work is done, they love a good rumpus just as much as other goblins.
  • The Spymaster: Both function as this for the Goblin Court, schmoozing with fey of other courts and directing the movements and actions of goblins below them.

    Viscountess Grabalba

Viscountess Grabalba

Played by: Aabria Iyengar

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/grabalba.png
"So I was gonna marry a prince once. He would've been the king, like you. It kind of fell apart. I know I'm not supposed to talk about it."

The viscountess of the Goblin Court. She was formerly engaged to Prince Apollo of the Court of Wonder, but the engagement was canceled for unknown reasons.

  • Bad Is Good and Good Is Bad: Like all goblins, equally as flattered when told how nasty she looks as when someone calls her beautiful.
  • Character Filibuster: Capable of talking the ear off of any suitor about her cancelled engagement to Prince Apollo, including Andhera and King Oberon. Implied to potentially be the reason why said engagement failed in the first place.
  • Huge Guy, Tiny Girl: With Captain Hob. She’s so small she can ride around on his shoulder with ease.
  • Imaginary Love Triangle: Thinks herself to be in one when Andhera attempts to rescue King Oberon from conversation with her.
  • Violently Protective Girlfriend: Gender inverted. Claims to have one in the form of Fable, leader of the Trickster Court and her new fiancé in a letter to Andhera.
  • Spoiled Sweet: The only daughter of the Goblin King, but one of the few in the court who treats Captain K.P.Hob with any form of affection or respect.

     Gorebladder

Gorebladder

Played by: Aabria Iyengar

A lineage of salt goblins serving Captain K.P. Hob.

  • Field Promotion: One of the later Gorebladders gets promoted from private to sergeant by Captain K.P. Hob. He is proud to be the first in his family to reach this rank.
  • Mayfly–December Friendship: Salt goblins only live six hours.
  • Sarcastic Devotee: Hob has a bit of difficulty getting Gorebladder to follow orders most of the time.

The Court of Hoof and Claw

    Theodore the Hart

Theodore the Hart

Played by: Aabria Iyengar

The quarry of the Hart Hunt, who has never been bested.

  • Friendly Address Privileges: His friends call him “Chooch”, and after their night together, this includes Squak.
  • The Hunter Becomes the Hunted: He attempts this once cornered at the end of the Hart Hunt, and manages to fend off his attackers for a while, before Chirp manages to remove his horn.

The Court of Sea Foam

    The Wavemaster

The Wavemaster

Played by: Aabria Iyengar

Head of the Court of Sea Foam, the current hosts of the Bloom.

  • Elemental Embodiment: A moving, shifting mass of waves that takes on a vaguely humanoid shape to interact with others at the Bloom.
  • Making a Splash: A fey made entirely of water, who also has dominion over it.
  • The Resenter: Becomes this over the course of the Bloom, if a more gracious example than most. The rumor that the Court of Wonder is taking all the credit for the success of the Bloom through Delloso de la Rue continually hurts the pride of the hosting Court of Sea Foam and the Wavemaster, to the point where they pretend Rue’s coming out of their glamour was part of a bigger “masquerade” theme of the Bloom, upstaging a genuine moment of vulnerability from the Master of Ceremonies.

    Baroness Alven

Baroness Alven

Played by: Aabria Iyengar

A high-ranking member of the Court of Sea Foam, with a secret connection to one of the Pack of Pixies.

  • Fish People: A particularly attractive one.
  • Our Mermaids Are Different: Walks on two legs and is entirely covered in scales, but otherwise embodies the beauty of the trope.
  • Secret Relationship: Currently engaged to (and madly in love with) Lord Squak Airavis. She is so devoted to them she has agreed to wear an invisible engagement ring to let them continue to do as they please.
  • Tears of Joy: Cries these when Squak acknowledges and affirms their engagement.
  • Water Is Womanly: Communicates with her beloved through bowls of bubbling sea water, has control over the element like the rest of her court, and is repeatedly described as highly feminine.
  • What Happened to the Mouse??: Her relationship with Lord Squak Airavis is ultimately left unresolved by the end of the series.

    Wanessa

Wanessa

Played by: Aabria Iyengar

A human being “hosted” by the Court of Sea Foam.

  • Changeling Tale: While she doesn’t divulge how she came to be at the Bloom, her reactions suggest that it may not entirely be by her own will.
  • Food Chains: Wanessa has been only eating trail mix until she meets Gwyndolin to avoid this. She is so hungry.
  • Expy: Of Romantic YA literature protagonists, down to being described as “a study in human averages” and “plain but symmetrical”. She even follows the trend of having a normal name with one letter changed to make it unique.
  • Nervous Wreck: Given that she’s a human in a dangerous if extremely dazzling fey gathering, it’s understandable that this is her default state.
  • Protectorate: Quickly becomes this after being entrusted to Gwyndolin, who does her best to ensure that Wanessa feels safe and like she’s an equal rather than some kind of pet or zoo animal for the fey to poke at.
    • Wanessa also returns the favor after Gwyn has proven that she’s as good as her word, actually stepping between Gwyndolin and Andhera and challenging the Prince of Air and Darkness over her new friend.
  • Token Human: Much to her dismay.
  • The Watson: Is described as acting as this, constantly dazzled by the glitz and glamour of the Bloom and the fey realm while simultaneously terrified of some of its inhabitants.
  • White Magician Girl: Is able to use the magic of the Bloom in conjunction with her own to cast “Cure Light Wounds” and mend where Gwyndolin slapped Squak’s wrist.
